- 0:21Speaker 1: Please to have Salakanta with us.
- 0:22Speaker 2: He is marveling at my radio studio that I am
- 0:25Speaker 2: broadcasting from right now.
- 0:26Speaker 1: Because he misses a good radio studio.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Check out his podcast wherever you get your podcast, The
- 0:30Speaker 2: Salakanta Show.
- 0:32Speaker 1: What do you miss most about a radio studio?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Not worrying about stuff, not working from home? The connection?
- 0:38Speaker 3: Is it loud enough this that you walk into the studio,
- 0:41Speaker 3: all those things. All you have to worry about is
- 0:43Speaker 3: doing the content, not the other nonsense. So that's probably it.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Yes, Just turn your mic on and talk, right. You
- 0:48Speaker 1: don't have to worry.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Can't hear the dog barking, don't hear the echo sound
- 0:52Speaker 3: that door shots. You basically don't hear anything else. You're
- 0:55Speaker 3: just in there having fun.
- 0:57Speaker 2: So Mark Hawkman, who was the executive producer of My
- 1:00Speaker 2: show with Dan, he used to care about that stuff
- 1:02Speaker 2: a lot, right, and now he has come to the
- 1:05Speaker 2: other side where the kids don't care. You could shoot
- 1:08Speaker 2: a video with a plane flying by and they don't
- 1:10Speaker 2: fucking care. They're gonna watch the content anyway.
- 1:12Speaker 3: I mean, I know somebody who showed me a video
- 1:15Speaker 3: of like some streamer and I'm like, dude, his mic
- 1:18Speaker 3: sounds like, shit, what are we doing here? And nobody cares.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I mean, that's that's his gimmick, that's his thing. I'm like,
- 1:23Speaker 3: all right, whatever.
- 1:25Speaker 1: No one cares.
- 1:26Speaker 2: Guys, I can't believe this Salasin into the fucking NCAA tournament.
- 1:30Speaker 2: It is March, and Salikata is not into March.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Who's not into March?
- 1:35Speaker 3: I am. I'm surprised to how much how into it
- 1:38Speaker 3: you are. I'm seeing all these different interviews and you
- 1:40Speaker 3: talk about it. Maybe I'll get into it if I
- 1:42Speaker 3: fell out my bracket a little Saint John's, you know,
- 1:45Speaker 3: local time from New York. But now, ultimately, unless I'm
- 1:48Speaker 3: betting on these games, which I might still do, you know,
- 1:50Speaker 3: I don't. I don't love it as much as I
- 1:52Speaker 3: used to when I was younger.
- 1:53Speaker 2: H What was it uh about the tournament when you
- 1:57Speaker 2: when you were younger? I can't say that sentence. I
- 1:59Speaker 2: don't know what the fuck happened to me. I'm in
- 2:00Speaker 2: a radio studio. Just talk, turn the mic on and
- 2:02Speaker 2: fucking talk. What was it about the tournament when you
- 2:05Speaker 2: were younger that you love so much that you're not
- 2:08Speaker 2: getting now?
- 2:09Speaker 3: Honestly, this is not to always bring it back to
- 2:11Speaker 3: Mike and the Mad Dog. But one of my favorite
- 2:13Speaker 3: things about the tournament because I was I didn't go
- 2:14Speaker 3: to college, so I don't have an allegiance, and I
- 2:16Speaker 3: was never the biggest college basketball fan. I remember some
- 2:19Speaker 3: years Kalidello mean with Yukon whatever, maybe getting into it
- 2:22Speaker 3: the old school back in the day, Felipe A. Lopez
- 2:24Speaker 3: with Saint John's. But when I started working at the
- 2:26Speaker 3: Fan and got on the mic and the Mad Dog Show,
- 2:29Speaker 3: I was grading the brackets for the entire station in
- 2:32Speaker 3: the pool, and that got me into it. So I'd
- 2:35Speaker 3: be locked in, we'd all have it was a big deal.
- 2:37Speaker 3: They would talk about it on the air. They were
- 2:39Speaker 3: standings like there was a lot of pride forget about
- 2:41Speaker 3: the money in those bracket tournaments. So that got me
- 2:43Speaker 3: into it, and then for years after that I would
- 2:46Speaker 3: stick with it. And then one year, I guess probably
- 2:48Speaker 3: right around the time where I started, you know, got
- 2:50Speaker 3: engaged or whatever, got married. You don't fill out a
- 2:52Speaker 3: bracket one year, then the next year you care a
- 2:54Speaker 3: little bit less and less now that you can bet
- 2:56Speaker 3: on these games wherever you want, whenever you want. I
- 2:58Speaker 3: think the brackets mean less and that probably took me
- 3:01Speaker 3: a little bit out of it.
- 3:01Speaker 2: So I understand what you're saying. Like, growing up, you
- 3:04Speaker 2: had guys who were on the same team. They were
- 3:06Speaker 2: on the same team every year. It was Chris Mullen
- 3:08Speaker 2: on Saint John's, it was Patrick Ewing on Georgetown, and
- 3:11Speaker 2: you hope that they would meet up in the final four,
- 3:12Speaker 2: and one year they actually did.
- 3:14Speaker 1: And now it's tough keeping up. It's tough keeping.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Track of who's where, who's coaching where, what the fuck
- 3:19Speaker 2: is going on? Indiana dominates college football. I mean, it's
- 3:22Speaker 2: just college sports is crazy, man.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Seriously, it is a great sport, though I do when
- 3:28Speaker 3: it's on. I don't know if I'm going to say
- 3:30Speaker 3: it's a point of viewing, but I do love the
- 3:31Speaker 3: chaos when you got multiple games, and I like watching
- 3:34Speaker 3: the college game better than I do the pro game,
- 3:36Speaker 3: so I'll be into it. But just the anticipation of
- 3:39Speaker 3: like I have not looked at a full bracket yet.
- 3:41Speaker 3: I've been busy obviously this past weekend, but I have
- 3:43Speaker 3: not looked at a full bracket yet, which is way
- 3:45Speaker 3: late on a Wednesday.
- 3:46Speaker 2: Why are you surprised that I'm so into it? It's March.
- 3:49Speaker 2: I mean it's great. It's the content.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Yes, I still don't know if you're being fully serious
- 3:55Speaker 3: or not. I know you love the NFL. I know
- 3:57Speaker 3: that it's content, but do you really get it? Why
- 3:59Speaker 3: do you love college basketball so much?
- 4:01Speaker 1: I don't. I just love this tournament.
- 4:03Speaker 3: That's it, okay, all right, So there was somewhere in
- 4:06Speaker 3: between tournaments. Yes, but you filled out a bracket, you
- 4:09Speaker 3: have your winner and all that stuff.
- 4:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I have twelve brackets I have. I have Nebraska
- 4:13Speaker 2: coming out of the South. I have Hofstra coming out
- 4:15Speaker 2: of the Midwest, I think. And that's just based on
- 4:17Speaker 2: coaches I've tried to get on or I've had on.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Yeah, right, well that was that's another part of this.
- 4:21Speaker 3: I used to love coach Cal, so I'll always pick
- 4:23Speaker 3: coach Cal, but he hasn't been in the same his
- 4:25Speaker 3: teams don't go far anymore. So well, and you know, no, no,
- 4:28Speaker 3: I guess the blue bloods don't have the coaches that
- 4:30Speaker 3: I was familiar with when I was younger, and now
- 4:32Speaker 3: these old I don't. I couldn't even know Beaheim, right,
- 4:35Speaker 3: Roy Williams uhself.
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, right, yeah, yeah, none of the great coach
- 4:41Speaker 2: and Tom Izzo is still there though.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I mean he'll be the Michigan State. He'll be in
- 4:46Speaker 3: my final four for sure.
- 4:48Speaker 2: I am so torn on Saint John's because I loved
- 4:50Speaker 2: Saint John's growing up.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Those teams were fantastic.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Luke Carniseca was the head coach, Walter Barry, Chris Mullen,
- 4:57Speaker 2: Bill Wennington, Willie Glass. I mean, those teams, We're fantastic.
- 5:01Speaker 2: But I can't stand and I'm happy to see that
- 5:03Speaker 2: Saint John's has had a resurgence here.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I can't stand Rick Patito, so.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I'm having a hard time getting behind Saint John's, which
- 5:10Speaker 2: is why I've chosen Hofstra.
- 5:12Speaker 1: I'm how about that.
- 5:13Speaker 3: I mean I can't argue or even ask why you
- 5:16Speaker 3: can't stand them. I can understand that. I personally like it.
- 5:19Speaker 3: I mean he came on our radio show a BT, yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 3: is he right? So won't you do that? Like if
- 5:24Speaker 3: you know me and acknowledge me and you send me
- 5:26Speaker 3: some free merch, I'm in so go Johnny's.
- 5:28Speaker 2: I'm good to go sal I'm terrified to have Patita on.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I'm certain I could get Patina on. I'm terrified to
- 5:34Speaker 2: have them on because if I have them on, I'm
- 5:36Speaker 2: gonna like them, and I don't want to like them.
- 5:42Speaker 2: You mentioned Mike and the mad Dog in March Madness.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I am told here by Taylor that he has some
- 5:47Speaker 2: franceses sad. So I'll throw it here to Taylor to
- 5:49Speaker 2: set it up and explain to us what the hell
- 5:51Speaker 2: this is.
- 5:53Speaker 4: So, so Mike, let's get this first out of the way.
- 5:56Speaker 4: He's number one, he's a legend. Yes, you're gonna make
- 5:59Speaker 4: some mistakes when you're talking as much as he does.
- 6:01Speaker 4: So this was the mistake that he made, and then
- 6:04Speaker 4: I'll explain after why it was a mistake.
- 6:08Speaker 5: They score on the break, they score off the turn,
- 6:11Speaker 5: on the and they score off the offensive. And then
- 6:14Speaker 5: Zubie sometimes will get a little thing going. And Zubi
- 6:18Speaker 5: can look really bad offensively, and he can look really
- 6:20Speaker 5: sweet offensive He's can be interesting to see what happens.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Especially against Kansas.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Remember he left Kansas, but that's a long time ago,
- 6:27Speaker 5: and he left Kansas because of embiid and MBI's a
- 6:31Speaker 5: different player in Zubie. I mean, mb when he's healthy
- 6:33Speaker 5: is a guy score fifty points in the NBA. He's
- 6:36Speaker 5: a big time talent. That's no big deal that they
- 6:39Speaker 5: you know that Embiid was over him. I mean that
- 6:41Speaker 5: it happens, and he came and he found a home
- 6:44Speaker 5: and had one of the great careers in the history
- 6:46Speaker 5: of Saint John's, which is about him and about Patino
- 6:51Speaker 5: de Bellopingham.
- 6:52Speaker 3: He did a great job that way.
- 6:54Speaker 4: So the problem with that sound is he said Zoobie
- 6:57Speaker 4: Edge for Saint John's best player, Tranceford from Kansas because
- 7:01Speaker 4: he didn't want to sit behind Joel Embiid anymore. The
- 7:04Speaker 4: problem is Joel Embiid's last game with Kansas was in
- 7:07Speaker 4: March twenty fourteen, ye when Zubi Edge four was nine
- 7:10Speaker 4: years old.
- 7:13Speaker 2: Again, we love Mike Francessa. He is a legend. None
- 7:16Speaker 2: of us are doing this if not for him and Christopher.
- 7:18Speaker 6: Man So and know also more than Zeler explain that
- 7:27Speaker 6: he has Zubie leaving because Joel Embiid and Joel Embiid,
- 7:32Speaker 6: their careers have never crossed paths.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Their lives will never cross paths.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Yeah, so Zubi Edge four again he transferred from Kansas
- 7:39Speaker 4: to Saint John's because he didn't want to sit behind
- 7:42Speaker 4: Joel Embiid. Except for the fact that Zubiedge four was
- 7:45Speaker 4: probably in fourth or fifth grade during Joel Embiid's loan
- 7:49Speaker 4: season in Lawrence, Kansas, right.
- 7:51Speaker 2: The one year. I don't blame Mike. It's all fucking blurred.
- 7:54Speaker 2: I can't remember anything.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Seriously, I watched somebody sent me the clip. I watched
- 7:58Speaker 3: it and said, so, what's wrong with this? I no idea?
- 8:01Speaker 3: Who's zoobie when didn't be leave?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Who cares?
- 8:07Speaker 2: It's why Taylor had to explain it. No one has
- 8:09Speaker 2: any idea.
- 8:11Speaker 3: I felt bad for Mike, but did you see he
- 8:13Speaker 3: took accountability for that. He did say you don't want
- 8:16Speaker 3: my mistake, and then I forget the player that he
- 8:18Speaker 3: said he was confusing him with. But like, what are
- 8:20Speaker 3: we doing? I mean, I know we have fun with it,
- 8:22Speaker 3: people going over the top. That thing got over well
- 8:24Speaker 3: over a million views, right, you have the number one
- 8:27Speaker 3: for the wrong reasons though, I think I know, but
- 8:29Speaker 3: that's what I mean. So what are we saying? Oh, oh,
- 8:31Speaker 3: Mike doesn't know sports? I mean, come on, first of all,
- 8:34Speaker 3: he's not on the fan every day. I don't want
- 8:37Speaker 3: to come across as defending Mike and being a sicken
- 8:39Speaker 3: fan for him.
- 8:39Speaker 1: But yes, yes, you should defend him.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Keep going Yeah, well, well, he's not on every day.
- 8:44Speaker 3: I mean he's doing the podcast. Okay, I don't even
- 8:47Speaker 3: know exactly how old he is, but he's not clearly
- 8:49Speaker 3: not in the prime of his career. Why he's not
- 8:50Speaker 3: allowed a little slip up? So what's the point of
- 8:52Speaker 3: it making fun of what? Because you don't think Mike
- 8:54Speaker 3: knows anything? Who gives a shit if he knows about
- 8:57Speaker 3: Oka four or Zoobi whatever his name is, and then
- 9:00Speaker 3: he clearly knows what he's saying. He just screwed that
- 9:03Speaker 3: one up. Somehow wires got crossed. I don't know how
- 9:06Speaker 3: that happened. Buddy took accountability for it, and we could
- 9:08Speaker 3: all maybe move on instead of making fun of him.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Good God, the video got two point three You don't
- 9:12Speaker 2: sound like a Homer at all. I got two point
- 9:14Speaker 2: three million, two point three million views.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Mike should sink into that.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Man, if his mistakes are gonna get that many views,
- 9:22Speaker 2: he can make a lot of money off of his mistakes.
- 9:24Speaker 1: I've been listened. I made a career out of it.
- 9:25Speaker 3: So while I was just thinking, so I'm trying to
- 9:27Speaker 3: get attention for my podcast, maybe get back into radio,
- 9:29Speaker 3: Well maybe I could start saying ridiculous things like that
- 9:31Speaker 3: and get the view the h I mean.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Can't do it. You're too young.
- 9:35Speaker 2: People have a different expectation for you.
- 9:38Speaker 3: Don't stop caring, right.
- 9:41Speaker 2: You can't make mistakes, soal Mike can make them, he
- 9:44Speaker 2: can own up to him. He'll still get two point
- 9:46Speaker 2: three million views. People like to laugh at old people
- 9:48Speaker 2: make mistakes.
- 9:49Speaker 3: I mean they do, yeah, sad.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Listen, it happens to everyone.
- 9:53Speaker 2: Man the aging Okay, Mike still knows sports, he still
- 9:57Speaker 2: has his fastball. He's still as good as anyone when
- 10:00Speaker 2: he's engaged. Okay, But occasionally, as you get older, you
- 10:03Speaker 2: forget that Joe Embiid is not the guy you were
- 10:06Speaker 2: thinking of.
- 10:07Speaker 1: That his career will never cross path with some guy
- 10:10Speaker 1: named Zubie.
- 10:11Speaker 3: Isn't it insane? Though? That You're right, okay, something got
- 10:14Speaker 3: twisted in his mind that though blows up. I just don't.
- 10:18Speaker 3: I don't get it. Just because we like to make fun,
- 10:21Speaker 3: I still doesn't register to me. All right, it's a
- 10:23Speaker 3: slip up. Instead of people being like, oh, he clearly
- 10:25Speaker 3: screwed this up, it's like, oh my god, look at Francesa.
- 10:28Speaker 3: The sports pope doesn't know what he's talking about.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Sally, I'm telling you if he nailed it, everything was right,
- 10:33Speaker 2: it was accurate.
- 10:34Speaker 1: That thing would have less than a million views. Okay,
- 10:37Speaker 1: probably less than a thousand.
- 10:38Speaker 3: I mean, honestly, right, who wants to hear that zubeh
- 10:42Speaker 3: oja four. I mean, come on, snooze.
- 10:45Speaker 1: Who wants to hear a host be right and do
- 10:47Speaker 1: his job correctly?
- 10:49Speaker 2: Jesus, nobody is the answer or less than a million
- 10:56Speaker 2: World Baseball Classic sal last night, Venezuela wins it over
- 11:00Speaker 2: the United States. Aaron Judge all emotional taking this thing
- 11:04Speaker 2: so seriously, how about you get a fucking hit?
- 11:07Speaker 1: How does that sound?
- 11:08Speaker 3: Yeah, he treated it like a Yankee playoff game. I
- 11:10Speaker 3: know that that's the easy joke. I actually don't think
- 11:12Speaker 3: it's that big of a deal. Look, it's just he
- 11:15Speaker 3: was great in the postseason a year ago. He's clutch. Okay,
- 11:18Speaker 3: you want to deem that a big game. I don't
- 11:19Speaker 3: look at that as a big game. I mean, the
- 11:22Speaker 3: US admittedly didn't even try, whether it's with the closer,
- 11:26Speaker 3: whether it's sending guys home. They thought they were just
- 11:28Speaker 3: gonna back door their way into a victory. They didn't
- 11:30Speaker 3: play that well in this tournament. And now it's gonna
- 11:32Speaker 3: be Joorge Kirk edit on in in the big spot
- 11:35Speaker 3: in the postseason. Maybe it'll drive him to be better
- 11:37Speaker 3: with the Yankees, but it's disappointing that he ended the
- 11:40Speaker 3: WBC like that in the biggest game. I'm not pinning
- 11:43Speaker 3: this on him or changing the way I view the
- 11:45Speaker 3: greatest baseball player I've ever seen because of one bad
- 11:48Speaker 3: game in another big spot?
- 11:50Speaker 2: Mm hmm, could you root for Roman Anthony? Were you
- 11:53Speaker 2: rooting for Roman Anthony?
- 11:54Speaker 3: I texted Taylor after us gave up the lead about Whitlock,
- 11:58Speaker 3: his guy Whitlock, and I know he wasn't alone. I
- 12:01Speaker 3: was sitting with a Yankee fan watching the game as well.
- 12:03Speaker 3: They're like, oh, at least Witlock gave it up so
- 12:05Speaker 3: I would root for Roman Anthony. I mean, I don't
- 12:07Speaker 3: have any problem, but I can understand why a Yankee
- 12:09Speaker 3: fan would not want to root for the future.
- 12:12Speaker 1: This is a yes.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Eric Whitlock, not Jason was the joke I was trying
- 12:17Speaker 2: to make so you could root for Roman Anthony. I
- 12:21Speaker 2: understand that Taylor could not, but no one fucking cares.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Ven I'm so happy Venezuela one because they actually cared
- 12:27Speaker 2: about winning this thing.
- 12:28Speaker 1: They cared, they did, the United States didn't care.
- 12:31Speaker 4: Yeah, so I'm shrugging this loss off my shoulder. Doesn't
- 12:35Speaker 4: really do anything for me. With Opening Day a week away.
- 12:38Speaker 4: The only lasting thing I'm taking from this World Baseball
- 12:41Speaker 4: Classic cell is my hatred for Tarek scooball.
- 12:45Speaker 3: I know, but I have an issue with you. I
- 12:47Speaker 3: get why you hate Tarek Schoolbull, but you're talking about all, well,
- 12:49Speaker 3: take this loss. Whatever, Which team are you rooting for?
- 12:52Speaker 3: How many different hats do you have there? You're big
- 12:55Speaker 3: in a WBC, you love it. I've seen a USA ad,
- 12:57Speaker 3: I've seen an Italy ad. I've seen you so already. Well,
- 13:00Speaker 3: your crowd is no, it's Venezuela.
- 13:01Speaker 1: This and that.
- 13:02Speaker 3: I mean, which team are you ruted? You were gonna
- 13:04Speaker 3: win either way. You're probably happy that you have the
- 13:06Speaker 3: villain Venezuela hat stashed away somewhere.
- 13:08Speaker 1: He does, Yes, yes, he does. I think Labor Torus
- 13:11Speaker 1: is on that team.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Somehow, in a competition between countries, he found a way
- 13:15Speaker 2: to still root for the Yankees.
- 13:21Speaker 1: So my problem with Team USA.
- 13:24Speaker 4: We gotta let Mark de Rosa go, and we have
- 13:27Speaker 4: to stop letting math manage baseball games, Sal, I'm done
- 13:31Speaker 4: with math, I'm done with analytics. I don't care what
- 13:34Speaker 4: the nerds are saying. Yes, yesterday they released the lineup.
- 13:38Speaker 4: That's when I knew the game was over because they
- 13:40Speaker 4: started they started Bregman and they started the corpse of
- 13:44Speaker 4: Byron Buxton hit this entire World Baseball Classic. Bregman was
- 13:50Speaker 4: batting eighty two. He starts over Gunner Henderson, Byron Buxton
- 13:54Speaker 4: batting zero, he starts over Pete crow Armstrong.
- 13:58Speaker 2: So, Sal, this is the part where and I I'm
- 14:00Speaker 2: so proud of my protege.
- 14:02Speaker 1: I am so proud of Taylor.
- 14:03Speaker 2: He knew the second they released the lineups how that
- 14:06Speaker 2: game was gonna go, and yet it was.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Still too two headed into the ninth.
- 14:11Speaker 4: Yeah, but so how did that analytics lineup do against
- 14:16Speaker 4: Eduardo Rodriguez, who had a five point zero two ERA
- 14:20Speaker 4: over the past two seasons.
- 14:21Speaker 1: He threw four sportless innings.
- 14:23Speaker 3: The problem is, if you don't like analytics and analytical lineups,
- 14:26Speaker 3: you're not gonna be able to roof for your Yankees.
- 14:27Speaker 3: I mean, you know that they do the analytics more
- 14:29Speaker 3: than anybody else, and it really it's over the course
- 14:31Speaker 3: of the sport so it's not just that that's not
- 14:33Speaker 3: why they lost. They just weren't good enough. And you
- 14:35Speaker 3: mentioned de Rosa. I'm not I don't want to rip
- 14:38Speaker 3: the guy, but I've heard that he had the worst
- 14:42Speaker 3: interview to be a manager back with the Mets many
- 14:44Speaker 3: years ago, where he wanted a shot at it and
- 14:46Speaker 3: they were immediately like, WHOA, this guy's completely unprepared. And
- 14:50Speaker 3: that from years ago matches exactly how you saw him
- 14:54Speaker 3: manage this team where he didn't know what was going
- 14:56Speaker 3: on with getting the ticket paunched the explanations for Mason Miller.
- 15:00Speaker 3: He just was all over the play. So I don't
- 15:01Speaker 3: even know if he's smart enough to do the analytics
- 15:03Speaker 3: to put that lineup together.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Uh, Taylor put it on the pall. When you say
- 15:07Speaker 2: I don't want to rip the guy, are you about
- 15:09Speaker 2: to rip the guy?
- 15:09Speaker 1: Yes or no? Yes? Yes? And sal you're asking what
- 15:14Speaker 1: team I'm rooting for.
- 15:15Speaker 4: I wasn't rooting for Team USA because I felt like
- 15:18Speaker 4: I needed a break from Yankee baseball. I'm watching the
- 15:21Speaker 4: Dominican Republic game, I'm watching the Venezuela game.
- 15:24Speaker 1: Two games.
- 15:25Speaker 4: This dream team offense that the USA is supposed to
- 15:28Speaker 4: have scores four runs on three home runs. So does
- 15:33Speaker 4: that postseason offense sound like anybody did.
- 15:36Speaker 3: Yeah, it sounds like it sounds a lot like your Yankees.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I mean, that's the beast in the regular season, and
- 15:42Speaker 3: then when the pitching gets better and the competition gets tougher,
- 15:44Speaker 3: they don't look the way that they did the majority
- 15:46Speaker 3: of the regular season. Here's a good thing it didn't.
- 15:48Speaker 3: It didn't really matter. This doesn't count. Heem Manford's slapping
- 15:52Speaker 3: those medals on these guys like there's some kind of
- 15:53Speaker 3: war heroes. I mean, what are we doing here, You're
- 15:56Speaker 3: not even Olympic heroes. He's putting the battle on him,
- 15:58Speaker 3: patting their chest like, oh, really good, really good tournament
- 16:02Speaker 3: showing like, come on, guys.
- 16:04Speaker 1: I did to grab the medal ceremony. I'm shocked that
- 16:07Speaker 1: you did. I mean I didn't even know they had one.
- 16:10Speaker 1: I mean I turned it off at two nothing. Once
- 16:14Speaker 1: Judge struck out again, I was like, oh, this is over.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You missed the Bryce home run.
- 16:19Speaker 7: Yeah, I guess right for what Listen, at least Aaron
- 16:24Speaker 7: Judge saved the hits for the Yankees me, So that
- 16:27Speaker 7: Bryce Harper home run is going to be the best
- 16:29Speaker 7: home run that'll be forgotten by next week.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Yes. And the other thing.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Put that on the polltailer. Will the Bryce Harper home
- 16:37Speaker 2: run be the home run we never remember?
- 16:41Speaker 4: And the other thing, when you're talking about the metal
- 16:44Speaker 4: sal if you're this USA Baseball team, you cannot walk
- 16:50Speaker 4: into the game with those USA hockey jerseys and then
- 16:54Speaker 4: get absolutely stuffed into.
- 16:56Speaker 1: A locker by Eduardo Rodriguez.
- 17:00Speaker 4: And then the Tigers had the audacity to take a
- 17:04Speaker 4: video of Tarik's scuba walking in to the locker room
- 17:08Speaker 4: in his team USA jersey with some dramatic music behind it.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Good thing Jack Houst didn't sit out the Olympic gold
- 17:13Speaker 4: medal game. We'd be celebrating Canada winning that.
- 17:17Speaker 1: He's outraged, He's all over the place.
- 17:20Speaker 3: Look, US was doomed once Judge gave that whatever that
- 17:23Speaker 3: thing called was supposed to be speech before this tournament.
- 17:27Speaker 3: And then I knew for certain some people were going
- 17:29Speaker 3: the other way when they saw the hockey jerseys last night.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Oh this is ours all us? Nope, I was going
- 17:34Speaker 3: the other way with that. That seemed forced. You mentioned
- 17:37Speaker 3: it with Schoobol, who didn't even want to be a
- 17:38Speaker 3: part of this thing. Yeah, us it wasn't into it.
- 17:42Speaker 3: It was a nice showing for an exhibition tournament. That's
- 17:45Speaker 3: how they treated it.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Yeah, but for all the lineups and the terrible speech
- 17:48Speaker 2: before the tournament, they were fucking one hit away from
- 17:51Speaker 2: winning the goddamn thing.
- 17:52Speaker 3: I mean, listen, the analytics said that was a great speech.
- 17:55Speaker 3: So I don't know what the problem is. The analytics
- 17:58Speaker 3: had it as one of the best speeches ever. It's
- 18:00Speaker 3: so true. I'm like, oh, this is predictable. I thought
- 18:02Speaker 3: Venezuela was gonna win me while it comes down to
- 18:04Speaker 3: the you know, final ending there on one run game.
- 18:10Speaker 1: As a manager who didn't know the rules, the still
- 18:12Speaker 1: almost won the thing.
- 18:14Speaker 4: So Stu I was at the final game at Lone
- 18:17Speaker 4: Depot Park and I'm watching Palencia pitch for Venezuela. He
- 18:22Speaker 4: is on the verge of tears. He was basically crying
- 18:25Speaker 4: with two outs. The Salvador Perez had to come out
- 18:28Speaker 4: and try to calm him down. I look in the
- 18:30Speaker 4: USA dugout when they lose. I saw treble fist pump.
- 18:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they get hammered afterwards.
- 18:35Speaker 4: I mean I saw scoobl give a fist pump when
- 18:37Speaker 4: they got the third out.
- 18:38Speaker 3: But that's just how it is. I mean, these guys.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I was talking a couple of managers this week at
- 18:43Speaker 3: spring training. They wanted to get their players back. As
- 18:46Speaker 3: much as the tournament is nice and it is good, competitive,
- 18:49Speaker 3: fun baseball, I'm glad we've been able to talk about
- 18:51Speaker 3: it for a couple of weeks and you guys talk
- 18:52Speaker 3: about it on the radio show on the podcast. It's
- 18:54Speaker 3: fun when when you know, aside from now the tournament
- 18:57Speaker 3: taking place, nothing else was going on here, so it
- 18:59Speaker 3: was fun to have. But ultimately we all know that
- 19:02Speaker 3: it doesn't mean everything. In the US. Maybe the other
- 19:05Speaker 3: countries it does, but to the US it clearly doesn't
- 19:08Speaker 3: because their moves tell you that it does not.
- 19:22Speaker 1: You're in New York.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Is Aaron Judge really getting a lot of grief for
- 19:25Speaker 2: like he seemed to treat this in a way that
- 19:27Speaker 2: he doesn't treat the regular season or the postseason for
- 19:30Speaker 2: the Yankees, where he was emotional, he was a leader.
- 19:33Speaker 2: This felt like it meant something to Aaron Judged away
- 19:36Speaker 2: that a Yankee season doesn't.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And even if they lost to it wouldn't have been
- 19:39Speaker 3: that big of a deal. But the fact that Judge
- 19:42Speaker 3: in the final game that his team loss, went zero
- 19:45Speaker 3: for four with three strikeouts. Yeah, in New York it's
- 19:48Speaker 3: more clowning on the Yankees and Judge. Oh, another postseason
- 19:52Speaker 3: performance for mister Cludge and blah blah blah blah blah,
- 19:55Speaker 3: even though he should have, you know, put that narrative
- 19:58Speaker 3: to bed last year with his postseason It's not Judge.
- 20:02Speaker 3: It's been the Yankees and other issues. But this on
- 20:04Speaker 3: a big spot in the final for him to have
- 20:06Speaker 3: that type of performance. Yeah, people are incorrectly going to
- 20:10Speaker 3: have a perception of him and continue the narrative of
- 20:13Speaker 3: that he's not, in fact clutch.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Who's leading away on that front on Wfan because they're
- 20:19Speaker 2: incapable of doing a different show. They do the same show.
- 20:22Speaker 2: They've been doing the same shows since Mike and the
- 20:24Speaker 2: mad Dogs, since the beginning of time, since the beginning
- 20:26Speaker 2: of sports radio. Let me guess, Craig Carton.
- 20:29Speaker 3: I'd have to call my mom and get back to
- 20:31Speaker 3: you all that.
- 20:34Speaker 1: Mom is the only one listening.
- 20:40Speaker 3: Probably Evan Roberts to your guy have it, I think
- 20:42Speaker 3: would keep that narrative alive.
- 20:46Speaker 4: But that point kind of highlights exactly how people feel
- 20:49Speaker 4: about this team USA Team where it's like Mets fans
- 20:52Speaker 4: are refusing to root for Judge, They're rooting for him
- 20:55Speaker 4: to fail. When Noel McClain comes out there and gives
- 20:57Speaker 4: up a home run, Yankee fans are chirp and being like, hey,
- 21:01Speaker 4: we're happy that Nolan McLain's giving up home runs. And
- 21:04Speaker 4: then you have the Venezuela players who are like, this
- 21:07Speaker 4: is the greatest thing that ever happened to us in
- 21:09Speaker 4: our lives.
- 21:09Speaker 1: Yes, because they care and we're selfish. That's it. I mean,
- 21:12Speaker 1: that's that's that's.
- 21:14Speaker 3: Taylor's the problem.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Taylor is the problem.
- 21:17Speaker 3: You are the poster child for.
- 21:18Speaker 1: This per selfish.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Yes, it's not just the players, the fans too. There's
- 21:26Speaker 3: no way even you tell what the USA had the
- 21:28Speaker 3: Italy had, like, Okay, they lose, you move on to
- 21:30Speaker 3: the next team in the tournament. The US loss last.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Nay.
- 21:34Speaker 3: No fan in America today is like, oh, like they
- 21:36Speaker 3: would be if the Yankees lost the World Series. When
- 21:38Speaker 3: Judge dropped the ball in Game five against the Dog.
- 21:41Speaker 3: There's no way so people could talk about all they want,
- 21:43Speaker 3: how oh it's a World Series like atmosphere and this
- 21:45Speaker 3: is the best thing. There's no way Judge felt that
- 21:48Speaker 3: same pain, or any fan felt that same pain with
- 21:51Speaker 3: USA losing last night, then they would with the team
- 21:53Speaker 3: that they root for, whoever that may be.
- 21:55Speaker 2: It would have felt the same way today had USA won.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I mean, meanwhile, in Venezuela, they're throwing fucking parades.
- 22:03Speaker 1: I mean, it's unbelievable.
- 22:05Speaker 2: There was a metal ceremony, Manfred. Oh god, uh listen,
- 22:13Speaker 2: I am insanely jealous.
- 22:16Speaker 1: Listen, you tell tail Or something. It's gonna get to me.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Okay, I'm told you went to a Mets and Yankee
- 22:20Speaker 2: spring training game down here.
- 22:23Speaker 1: By the way.
- 22:24Speaker 3: I went to Tampa first to see Boone and the Yankees,
- 22:28Speaker 3: and then I drove to Port Saint Lucy to see
- 22:30Speaker 3: the Mets.
- 22:31Speaker 1: Okay, you were very close to us, so you could have,
- 22:33Speaker 1: you know, called me up.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Well, I know, I was thinking maybe I was gonna
- 22:36Speaker 3: I was planning to leave Monday morning. My flights got canceled.
- 22:38Speaker 3: I couldn't even get a freaking flight out of Miami,
- 22:41Speaker 3: Fort Lauderdale, Orlando. We gotta drive to Atlanta eight hours.
- 22:44Speaker 3: I got home at three o'clock in the morning. But
- 22:46Speaker 3: I did think if I was stuck another day, I
- 22:47Speaker 3: was gonna give you call out and be like, you
- 22:49Speaker 3: know what was coming studio? Maybe do something?
- 22:51Speaker 2: You could have used my plane. I mean, what a
- 22:57Speaker 2: douche you think of me to say, but.
- 22:59Speaker 1: You could have.
- 23:00Speaker 3: Do you only have a plane?
- 23:02Speaker 2: Well, I mean you know I have. I have an
- 23:04Speaker 2: account at a private Well. I don't want to talk about.
- 23:06Speaker 3: This, No, Stu, this is a whole new level.
- 23:12Speaker 5: No.
- 23:13Speaker 3: The only time I've ever been on a private plane
- 23:14Speaker 3: before was with Frances. We used to do that to
- 23:16Speaker 3: the Super Bowl spring training. I had no idea. I mean,
- 23:19Speaker 3: come on, Stu, that's incredible.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Godless, listen, listen, you can get him Bead's career path
- 23:25Speaker 2: with whatever. That fucking guy's name is wrong. All you
- 23:28Speaker 2: want it gets you a private plane. I mean, that's
- 23:30Speaker 2: what I will do for you. I have an account.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I would have gladly flown you up. Yes, and then
- 23:39Speaker 2: probably yes, you put some money later on.
- 23:44Speaker 1: Uh so, by the way, that was forty two thousand dollars. Yeah,
- 23:47Speaker 1: so yeah. No, Traveling.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Traveling is a fucking nightmare these days. I'll get back
- 23:51Speaker 2: to your spring training in a second.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Here.
- 23:52Speaker 2: Traveling, I've been doing a lot of it. I have
- 23:55Speaker 2: more to do this week. I have to go to
- 23:56Speaker 2: fucking Oregon this week. I am not looking forward to it.
- 24:00Speaker 2: No TSA agents. It's a nightmare, all of it. The
- 24:03Speaker 2: entire experience is an absolute nightmare. You have to choose
- 24:06Speaker 2: wisely with your airports.
- 24:08Speaker 3: The fact that I could not get out of any
- 24:10Speaker 3: We were supposed to fly out of West Palm Monday morning,
- 24:12Speaker 3: and there was once that flight got canceled, and it
- 24:15Speaker 3: got pushed to late night, and then that get canceled.
- 24:17Speaker 3: I'm like, all right, Tuesday, i gotta get out of here.
- 24:19Speaker 3: I'll drive to Fort Lauderdale, I'll drive to Miami, I'll
- 24:21Speaker 3: drive to Orlando. Nothing. Nothing. I My best option was
- 24:25Speaker 3: to drive from West Palm eight hours to Atlanta get
- 24:29Speaker 3: on a Spirit Airlines flight. I haven't phoned Spirits since
- 24:31Speaker 3: I was twenty years old. When I was trying to
- 24:33Speaker 3: say money go to Vegas. I'm I'm crossing my fingers
- 24:35Speaker 3: that not only does the flight take off, that I
- 24:37Speaker 3: actually make it. When it does take off, then that
- 24:39Speaker 3: flight got delayed three different times because of a late agent,
- 24:44Speaker 3: not enough airspace, and then as we're about to take off,
- 24:46Speaker 3: some knucklehead hits the medical emergency thing because he feels
- 24:50Speaker 3: some pain in his side. I mean, I couldn't believe
- 24:53Speaker 3: what was happening. Disaster travel, I'm not doing it anymore
- 24:56Speaker 3: unless it's planning.
- 24:57Speaker 2: For at least you can travel an hour an hour
- 25:00Speaker 2: south instead of going eight hours north.
- 25:02Speaker 1: At Least you didn't choose the busiest airport in America.
- 25:04Speaker 1: I mean, he's Atlanta. What do you do? It's a hub.
- 25:08Speaker 3: But that's the point. Because they had flights, Stu, when
- 25:10Speaker 3: I tell you that Miami for the only flights they
- 25:13Speaker 3: had were late Wednesday night. And I was like, I
- 25:16Speaker 3: gotta get I gotta get back. I already missed two
- 25:17Speaker 3: days of work. I really lost one job this year.
- 25:19Speaker 3: I can't lose another. I mean, come on, you gotta
- 25:21Speaker 3: get me back.
- 25:21Speaker 2: There said why we coulda hook you up here?
- 25:28Speaker 1: And I said, why too? I mean, we conna help
- 25:30Speaker 1: you out? sALS my boy, I should have called that's
- 25:32Speaker 1: my bid? Yes.
- 25:34Speaker 2: So how was the Mets and Yankee Spring training games?
- 25:37Speaker 2: How were they.
- 25:37Speaker 3: Talk to Aaron Boone? The main takeaway there was that
- 25:40Speaker 3: he loves Rocky four more than anything else, and he
- 25:42Speaker 3: cried during it because it was a big feed guy.
- 25:44Speaker 1: When I ranked the Rockey movies, Rocky four is number
- 25:47Speaker 1: one for me.
- 25:47Speaker 3: Yeah, both you guys have that same thing. And I
- 25:50Speaker 3: got to tell Rocky two is my favorite. So we
- 25:52Speaker 3: did that a little bit. Talk to Carlos Mendoza, you know,
- 25:54Speaker 3: his phone, just hanging out with him. But the two
- 25:57Speaker 3: best parts of the trip one after the meta, I
- 26:00Speaker 3: hung out with Terry Collins all night long, and that
- 26:03Speaker 3: was you know, I'm not a big drinker, but I
- 26:07Speaker 3: woke up at four thirty expecting to get my flight.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I didn't know where the hell I was. It was
- 26:10Speaker 3: actually a good thing that de fight got canceled because
- 26:12Speaker 3: I was in no shape to get on it, and
- 26:14Speaker 3: I hung out with with you know, Jerry Seinfeld invited
- 26:17Speaker 3: me to sit with him for a little bit at
- 26:18Speaker 3: the game.
- 26:19Speaker 2: What listen when that happens, you cannot bring up Terry Collins, right, nothing.
- 26:27Speaker 2: First off, former managers, managers, they can drink. They will
- 26:31Speaker 2: drink you under the fucking table. Okay, put it on
- 26:34Speaker 2: the Paul Taylor former managers.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Can they drink? Yes or no?
- 26:39Speaker 3: But one of these free analytics pre analytics managers, those
- 26:42Speaker 3: guys are the real ones.
- 26:44Speaker 2: But once Seinfeld happens, I forget about my Rocky conversation
- 26:47Speaker 2: with Boone.
- 26:48Speaker 1: I forget about drinking with Terry Collins.
- 26:50Speaker 2: I'm hanging out spring training on the third baseline with
- 26:53Speaker 2: Jerry Seinfeld.
- 26:54Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 26:56Speaker 3: Yeah, he So. I did a bit on my podcast
- 26:58Speaker 3: two weeks ago, like because I saw Seinfeld was following
- 27:01Speaker 3: other people on Instagram, like other you know, people that
- 27:03Speaker 3: we either work at the fan or at smy and
- 27:05Speaker 3: I was like, maybe he doesn't like me. I mean,
- 27:08Speaker 3: he has to know who I am. Maybe he just
- 27:10Speaker 3: doesn't like me, and that upsets me. Somebody that I
- 27:12Speaker 3: revered wouldn't like me. That night after that podcast there
- 27:16Speaker 3: and he started following me on Instagram. Led to a
- 27:18Speaker 3: little bit of a conversation and then I was like, oh,
- 27:20Speaker 3: I'm gonna be in spring training. I'll find out some info.
- 27:22Speaker 3: I'll get back to you. He's like, I'm gonna be
- 27:24Speaker 3: there too, let's meet up. Jerry Seinfeld want to meet
- 27:27Speaker 3: up with me? And then we got there and I
- 27:29Speaker 3: asked him, where's your section, I'll come say hello, and
- 27:31Speaker 3: then they said we have an extra ticket and he
- 27:33Speaker 3: invited me to sit with him for the game, which
- 27:35Speaker 3: was just incredible.
- 27:37Speaker 1: You sat with him for an entire game.
- 27:39Speaker 3: Well, it was a rain shortened game, but we had
- 27:41Speaker 3: five innings in the seats, and then because of the rain,
- 27:44Speaker 3: we went up to the owner's suite, which wasn't even open.
- 27:46Speaker 3: Steve Cohen wasn't there, but Seinfeld could get in there,
- 27:49Speaker 3: and we went up to the owner's suite and watched
- 27:50Speaker 3: whatever was remaining before everybody heading their own way.
- 27:54Speaker 1: Were there lulls in the conversation? Were you nervous? Like,
- 27:57Speaker 1: were you nervous about this?
- 27:58Speaker 3: I did. I wasn't, but I didn't know what to expect,
- 28:02Speaker 3: and there were no lulls. It was great. He was
- 28:04Speaker 3: there with with one of his best friends who was
- 28:06Speaker 3: the one who was listening to the podcast and he
- 28:09Speaker 3: facilitated this thing. And he was there with his agent
- 28:11Speaker 3: as well. So but those guys were both legit, you know,
- 28:14Speaker 3: they knew me from the fan arrest and why they're
- 28:16Speaker 3: all Met fans. Were just we were just really talking shop,
- 28:18Speaker 3: talking Mets the whole time.
- 28:19Speaker 1: No lulls.
- 28:20Speaker 3: It was great.
- 28:21Speaker 1: Wow, it might be a good thing. The game was
- 28:22Speaker 1: a rain shortened game. Leave him wanting more?
- 28:25Speaker 3: Yes, I was wondering. I'm like, did I get screwed
- 28:27Speaker 3: here by the rain? Or is it let's leave on
- 28:29Speaker 3: a high note. We got nice five solidatings left. Anything
- 28:32Speaker 3: more could have felt like overkill at that point.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Was Jerry buying food concessions? What was going on there?
- 28:37Speaker 2: Anything they offered I was good.
- 28:40Speaker 3: I mean I didn't need anything, but I don't know
- 28:41Speaker 3: if they had like some special server coming down. It
- 28:44Speaker 3: was bizarre to be it with somebody that level of
- 28:46Speaker 3: fame because once one person recognized them wildfire, can you
- 28:50Speaker 3: sign this? Can you take a picture? Can you do this?
- 28:52Speaker 3: Obviously he couldn't because if he takes one picture, then
- 28:54Speaker 3: he's got to do it for everybody. So it was
- 28:56Speaker 3: it was an experience.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Did you get his phone number afterwards? Like what happened there?
- 29:01Speaker 5: No?
- 29:01Speaker 3: I you know this whole time. I never asked him
- 29:04Speaker 3: for anything. I didn't ask him to come on my podcast.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I didn't ask him for a picture. Yeah I want,
- 29:08Speaker 3: I wanted to play it. I just wanted to see
- 29:10Speaker 3: where it would go. And it led to hanging out
- 29:11Speaker 3: with him, which I'm good with. But I did exchange
- 29:13Speaker 3: numbers with the other two guys as agent and his
- 29:15Speaker 3: best friend. We talked a little bit, and I still
- 29:17Speaker 3: I message him through Instagram. If I know, if I
- 29:19Speaker 3: want to get in touch with him.
- 29:20Speaker 1: So you would classify this as a laying of the groundwork.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Is that? Is that accurate? Yes?
- 29:25Speaker 3: I mean I don't know. You tell me, yes. I
- 29:27Speaker 3: would say that the two weeks was this? What's the
- 29:30Speaker 3: next level? From going to a game for five plus
- 29:33Speaker 3: innings with Jerry Seinfeld? What's next?
- 29:35Speaker 1: So your first yeah? Nine?
- 29:37Speaker 2: Yes, a doubleheader day night. I don't trust the I
- 29:40Speaker 2: don't trust the handlers. I don't I don't trust any
- 29:43Speaker 2: of them. Okay, you need to walk away from that situation.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Next time you do it. You need to walk away
- 29:48Speaker 2: with Jerry's number. You need direct contract contact with Jerry Seinfeld.
- 29:52Speaker 2: You do otherwise you're never going to get him on
- 29:53Speaker 2: the show.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I listen.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I would have agreed to see the game, watch the
- 29:57Speaker 2: game with Jerry a preseason, a spring training game, but
- 30:00Speaker 2: there would be there would have been an arrangement in place, Jerry,
- 30:04Speaker 2: I come sit and watch the game. Because keep in mind,
- 30:07Speaker 2: you think that you're going there as a fan of
- 30:09Speaker 2: Jerry Seinfeld. Jerry invited you because he is a fan
- 30:12Speaker 2: of yours. Sal he wants to be friendly with you. You
- 30:15Speaker 2: didn't invite him. Jerry invited you he wanted to watch
- 30:18Speaker 2: a baseball game with a former wfan host who was
- 30:21Speaker 2: recently fired.
- 30:22Speaker 3: I mean, you're on something there, But I think it
- 30:25Speaker 3: was more his friends because they were then asking me questions.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Now I was talking to Jerry, and he was asking
- 30:29Speaker 3: me stuff about the fan or about the Mets. Yes,
- 30:32Speaker 3: but more his friends. Like when I got down to
- 30:34Speaker 3: the first thing they said was, oh, we were just
- 30:36Speaker 3: deciding how to do the seating arrangements here, which was
- 30:38Speaker 3: like right out of a Seinfeld episode. He wanted he
- 30:40Speaker 3: moved over one. I sat next to his best friend
- 30:42Speaker 3: than him, like theyre wereried about me accommodating me, which
- 30:45Speaker 3: was insane. But you're right, so there was some of
- 30:47Speaker 3: that from his friend's perspective. I can't ask for his number.
- 30:50Speaker 3: I don't have the balls to do that. And I
- 30:51Speaker 3: can't just ask Jerry, can I get your number? I
- 30:55Speaker 3: didn't want to ask for a pick. How can you
- 30:57Speaker 3: ask for Seinfeld's number? I couldn't do that.
- 31:00Speaker 1: You just say, Jerry, can I have your number?
- 31:01Speaker 3: He would have said no, how about an email? And
- 31:04Speaker 3: then maybe I would have taken that He's not gonna
- 31:05Speaker 3: give me his phone number.
- 31:07Speaker 1: No, you would have said yes, I mean, you want
- 31:09Speaker 1: me to send it to you. I haven't.
- 31:12Speaker 3: Here, Jerry, take my number.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Sal.
- 31:15Speaker 4: This is something that you have to learn from Stu
- 31:17Speaker 4: Gottson and something that I've been trying to learn because
- 31:20Speaker 4: I'm more like you, Sal, I'm never gonna ask for
- 31:23Speaker 4: that person's number. When we were out there for Super
- 31:26Speaker 4: Bowl Week, Tyler Schuck came up on stage and after
- 31:28Speaker 4: the interview, Sto basically cornered him and was like, Hey,
- 31:31Speaker 4: I'm taking your number.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Yeah, and we're gonna get you on the show another time. Now.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I was doing it for these guys, Sal, because they
- 31:36Speaker 2: love Shuck. I mean, mikey A and Taylor they love Shuck.
- 31:40Speaker 2: And I am close to finalizing a weekly deal with
- 31:43Speaker 2: Shuck to come on the show for football season.
- 31:45Speaker 1: How about that?
- 31:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, but that you have to do, Taylor.
- 31:48Speaker 3: You gotta get I mean, you guys got you guys
- 31:49Speaker 3: gotta get that done. I did it with Mehdi, I've
- 31:52Speaker 3: done it with Boonie. I got the Mets and Yankees
- 31:53Speaker 3: manager's numbers. I can't do that with Jerry Seinfeld. That's
- 31:56Speaker 3: a different level of I don't want to deal with
- 31:58Speaker 3: that rejection. I already know he said. The only times
- 32:01Speaker 3: he told people know for a picture, you think you
- 32:03Speaker 3: cann take my phone number away?
- 32:04Speaker 2: Yes you're an invited guest, yes, of his friends, but
- 32:08Speaker 2: you have Terry Collins' number right, wrong numbers.
- 32:15Speaker 3: I'll tell you this. As fun as it was hanging
- 32:17Speaker 3: out with the game with Jerry, there's nothing like a
- 32:20Speaker 3: night out with Terry Collins. That's a different level.
- 32:22Speaker 2: You seem to enjoy it more. Was Jerry trying to
- 32:27Speaker 2: make you laugh? Did you feel the need to laugh?
- 32:29Speaker 2: How does that work when you're sitting there watching a
- 32:31Speaker 2: spring training game? And, by the way, I'm telling you
- 32:34Speaker 2: a big break that it was a shortened game, because
- 32:36Speaker 2: those fucking spring training games could last forever.
- 32:39Speaker 1: So yeah, I know.
- 32:41Speaker 3: Keith Rena saw him in the elevator afterward and it
- 32:44Speaker 3: was like he didn't recognize that it was Jerry. And
- 32:46Speaker 3: then then after everybody alerted them to that it was
- 32:49Speaker 3: Jerry's like, yeah, these games put me to sleep, sorry
- 32:51Speaker 3: and recognize you. So, yes, we all know the spring
- 32:53Speaker 3: training games are boring, but no, I would just say, honestly,
- 32:55Speaker 3: it would be like I would hope be like the
- 32:57Speaker 3: four of us going to a ball game, shooting the
- 32:59Speaker 3: ship watching game. That's exactly what it was like. Some
- 33:01Speaker 3: of it was funny, some of it wasn't. Sometimes he
- 33:03Speaker 3: made me left, sometimes I made him left. But we were
- 33:05Speaker 3: just honestly just chopping it up watching a ballgame, which
- 33:08Speaker 3: which was I still can't believe that it happened, but
- 33:10Speaker 3: that was pretty.
- 33:10Speaker 2: Cool making Jerry laugh. But I mean making Jerry laugh
- 33:13Speaker 2: that's a career highlight. I mean it is so he
- 33:15Speaker 2: should retire.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I mean, I know. I'm sorry, Mike Stude.
- 33:19Speaker 4: You have Jerry performing for sal as opposed to Sal
- 33:22Speaker 4: performing for Jerry.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Yes, I mean Sal was then invited, guest. I agree
- 33:28Speaker 2: they wanted Sal there. I'm not certain Sally even wanted
- 33:31Speaker 2: to be there.
- 33:31Speaker 1: He was hung old.
- 33:34Speaker 3: Of course I wanted to be there. I just wanted
- 33:36Speaker 3: to play it cool. I don't want to be you know,
- 33:38Speaker 3: he gonna play it cool.
- 33:38Speaker 4: And that's so when you sat down, was any part
- 33:42Speaker 4: of you thinking, hey, let me try to record this,
- 33:44Speaker 4: and and when you sit down and be like, hey, guys,
- 33:46Speaker 4: can I can I get this for my podcast?
- 33:47Speaker 1: I would have shown up with a com rex. I mean.
- 33:51Speaker 3: No, you know the one thing that was annoying. I
- 33:53Speaker 3: knew the game was on SNY and I felt it
- 33:56Speaker 3: and we were sitting right back on Home Play. But
- 33:57Speaker 3: a few rolls up, I knew that if SNY caught it,
- 34:00Speaker 3: it was gonna be huge because they'd be talking about, oh,
- 34:02Speaker 3: they're Seinfeld, Oh my god, he's sitting with Sal. Why
- 34:05Speaker 3: is Seinfeld with Sal? And it would have been big,
- 34:08Speaker 3: And I didn't want to text them and alert them
- 34:09Speaker 3: to it because I felt then I'd be doing Jerry dirty.
- 34:12Speaker 3: And then they didn't. Afterward, I was like, did you
- 34:14Speaker 3: guys catch that? They're like, no, we couldn't find him.
- 34:16Speaker 3: We were looking for Seinfeld. We didn't see him.
- 34:17Speaker 2: So yeah, I would I would have pitched them Seinfeld
- 34:20Speaker 2: and Sal on w f A n You would have
- 34:22Speaker 2: got your job back.
- 34:23Speaker 3: I mean, were they looking in the nosebleeds?
- 34:26Speaker 1: How do you miss that?
- 34:30Speaker 3: I don't know. He was wearing a hat and glasses.
- 34:32Speaker 3: But yeah, we didn't get a We didn't get a
- 34:33Speaker 3: shot together.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I mean, you think he says yes to that proposal?
- 34:36Speaker 2: I mean, first off, if Jerry wants to work at
- 34:40Speaker 2: w f AN, I'm certain he can call a la
- 34:42Speaker 2: arrow I get a job whatever the hell he wants.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Right Instead of that, maybe I should have asked him
- 34:46Speaker 3: if he wants to buy w F A N and
- 34:49Speaker 3: then have me have me create the own show there.
- 34:51Speaker 1: But yeah, how about sal and Collins. I mean.
- 34:56Speaker 3: He does have that B movie money. Yeah, We're talk
- 35:00Speaker 3: about Soto and the pressure of Soto's contract. He's like, well,
- 35:03Speaker 3: I think it was maybe the living up to the
- 35:04Speaker 3: contract seven sixty five million. I was like, woll you're
- 35:06Speaker 3: one person who could actually relate to that. Maybe you
- 35:08Speaker 3: could speak to it. How much pressure that? He's like, yeah,
- 35:11Speaker 3: you know what, I can. I am a person that
- 35:13Speaker 3: can relate to that.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Yes, the Salakata Show. Check it out wherever you get
- 35:20Speaker 2: your podcast. I hope that we do more work together
- 35:22Speaker 2: in the future because I am going to be non stop,
- 35:25Speaker 2: Like listen, Jerry better be on on a weekly basis.
- 35:29Speaker 2: That's all I'm telling you. Okay, I I mean I
- 35:32Speaker 2: got you shocked.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I mean, come on, shuck Seinfeld, I don't know. I
- 35:36Speaker 1: mean I got Gris Sims, you Golic.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Let's let's see if he responds back to my next
- 35:46Speaker 3: DM on Instagram first before we book him for the
- 35:49Speaker 3: regular spot.
- 35:50Speaker 1: He's not going
