Transcript
- Shaun: Hello and welcome back to the Reset episode 76 with me, Sean Tuck. What is that commitment that you're still thinking about costing you? I just got off the phone with a client and we start next week. And it was interesting because the objection for him not having paid the invoice just yet was he wasn't sure if he was able to commit himself. to the change that he wanted to make. And what's really interesting on this is we're going to pay for that commitment anyway. It's either paying it with action or paying it with inaction. One comes from a place of... Deep uncertainty. The other place comes from a place of certainty because you're taking the actions. One, you're living in your mind, the other one, you're actually getting into your body and you're doing what you say you're gonna do. which one is harder. the suffering that's caused from living in here and not taking action, or the pain that you'll feel by going through and doing the hard thing and showing your mind that it's not your boss. then instead the mind is just a servant of the body. Have a think about that for a second. what if instead we were trying to master our minds? We were to just drop into our body and get what we needed to do done. How much easier would it be? It's the contemplation, it's the doubt, it's all of the things we think about that will potentially go wrong or reasons and excuses for not starting that stop us from actually getting into our greatness. I know it's me as well. I'm not perfect. I'm not a robot. And oftentimes my human nature will prevent me from basically being that next best version of myself. It's the doubt. It's the worry. It's the what if. What if this happens? What if that goes wrong? What if I can't do it? What if something comes up? What if the people around me are holding me back? You can either live on the edge of getting things done or can live on the edge of life and actually do the thing you say you want to do. I know which one I'd rather be in. I know which boat I want to be on. because I spent way too long living in here and not doing the things that I said that I was going to do. Even my partner calls me an idealist in many ways. And maybe that part of myself who is very ideologic Looking at things, well if this happens then that will happen, then this will happen, then finally it'll be great. I think partially my partner married me because I am an idealist, but in the same token, it makes me really harsh on myself when things don't go the way that I want them to. And that is uncomfortable for her and my whole family. So, you know, these past six years or so, I've really done a lot of work to make sure I'm not just ideological but rather than just living in my mind I'm actually taking the actions necessary to get towards my dreams. Because it's good to have an idea. And ideas are great. They can make you feel amazing. For two seconds. And it's when reality kicks in that you haven't achieved the financial, the income or the status or the thing that you really want it to be, the confidence, right? It's when that reality kicks in is when it's really a hard, tough pill to swallow of just realizing how disembodied you really are. how far away from being. who you say you are. When that medicine comes along. Here, it's your choice. You either drink it or you just let it sit. And that was a really poor reference to ⁓ &M's, Lose Yourself. But it's so true. We are all filled with potential. We are all filled with ideas. Yet only some of us, only some of us are able to move forward and actually achieve the success that they say they want. success is only significant to you and subjective to you. What does it mean to you? For me to be successful it means that I've got freedom, flexibility in my body, in my work, in my family, in my time. in everything actually that makes me me, it's what I probably value one of the most. Having that freedom and flexibility to do what I want to do, help who I want to help. and really commit to the things that I want to commit to. Because we often receive ideas from people outside of us. And when we have these ideas, it's like, they're nice to have. It would be nice if we could move towards where this person is going. Because we think we want to get there. But you have a life path that only unfolds as you live it. You can have an idea about what you want, but until you start moving in that direction, you don't know if it's for you. It took me so long to figure that out. Because I was following in the footsteps of my brothers. got three older brothers, younger brother and younger sister. I was following in the footsteps of my older brothers because they were more successful than I was in studying, in achieving results, in... getting jobs and securing jobs and all of those kind of things, know, they were better than me. But what I didn't realize was my greatness was still being installed. Because I was still realizing it. And it is the same thing for you too. And that's what I want from you to download it or to get from this podcast is that you don't see me behind the microphone. You see you behind the mic. Because what I'm doing is nothing special. I am no one special. The only difference between the guy who's gunner and the guy who is, is that the guy who is, he committed. The guy who's gonna, he's still thinking about it. So who are you gonna be? I know who I am. And so we actually have a push-up challenge. If you know what the push-up challenge is here in Australia, it's 3,304, I think that number's right, push-ups for... That's the number of men who took their life in 2024 in Australia alone. Nine people in Australia take their lives every single day. Seven of them are men. And in 2024, 3,304 men lost their life. due to suicide, death by suicide. In June from the 23rd to the 26th, there is the push-up challenge. You have the ability to sign up. It is a challenge of course, you can aim for the total number of pushups or you can do half. You can substitute the pushups for sit ups and squats or whatever it is, jumping jacks, something. But if mental health means something to you, if you know someone who has suffered from mental health challenges in the past and you want to fundraise and you want to create awareness around this. poison that exists in our society. Good men, good young men and boys taking their lives because they feel like they shouldn't exist. It is my hope and my blessing that this podcast reaches someone and it turns their life around. not because they see me as being better than them, but they see me as being the same as them. We all have challenges. We all suck at asking for help. Especially men. So if you want to partake in this push-up challenge, I will make sure that I put the link in the show notes, but also we have created a team for our Mulgrave Fitness Dads Train Hard Club. So if you want to be part of our team, want to have, if you want to fundraise, if you want to actually donate as well, I'll put the link below and you can donate or you can join our team. The more people, the more awareness, the more abilities we have to fundraise and really create a difference. So my aim is to raise $500 towards one of the charities as part of the push-up challenge. And I'm bloody excited for it. So if you found value in today's episode, I invite you to just share it with one person. Thanks for tuning in. I look forward to seeing you in tomorrow's episode.
