- 0:05Speaker 1: There is. Hey, j are you in the car right now?
- 0:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm on the car in the car going to
- 0:12Speaker 2: get some food and then entered the field after this.
- 0:14Speaker 3: So where you're going? What do you get to eat?
- 0:19Speaker 2: So I found a pretty good place around here that
- 0:22Speaker 2: does a good like sour dough bread with some some
- 0:26Speaker 2: other stuff like toast and jam, and then like an
- 0:30Speaker 2: egg sandwich type thing. And then it also has really
- 0:32Speaker 2: good coffee, which I'm definitely addicted to at this point.
- 0:35Speaker 4: But yeah, Jay, good to see you, buddy. Interesting year
- 0:41Speaker 4: last year, you know, being together you I don't even
- 0:44Speaker 4: know what your role was on the team last year.
- 0:46Speaker 4: Sometimes you were starting, sometimes you're in the bullpen. You'd
- 0:49Speaker 4: be in the bullpen, and then a starter would you know,
- 0:52Speaker 4: not be able to make a start, you would pitch.
- 0:55Speaker 4: What's been the difference? I mean, you're an All Star
- 0:56Speaker 4: this year? When when did the closer conversation start? And
- 0:59Speaker 4: then you know, just take us kind of through this
- 1:01Speaker 4: roller coaster of you know, a year.
- 1:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I you know, twenty four, I had
- 1:08Speaker 2: a full year uh as a rookie there and then
- 1:11Speaker 2: came into camp twenty five just looking to make a
- 1:14Speaker 2: bigger impact and didn't break with the team out of
- 1:18Speaker 2: spring there, and that kind of stung a little bit.
- 1:20Speaker 5: And then, uh, you know, got.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Called up early early into the season and kind of
- 1:24Speaker 2: just had to earn my earn my way again, and
- 1:28Speaker 2: you know, the role was changing every day and every series,
- 1:31Speaker 2: as it seemed from everyone's perspective there you saw it,
- 1:35Speaker 2: so uh really just you know, I was keeping the
- 1:40Speaker 2: door open to to those lengthier outings and luckily it
- 1:43Speaker 2: led to spot starts that I feel like opened more
- 1:46Speaker 2: eyes with the team here and in the front office.
- 1:50Speaker 2: And then you know, coming into this year, that was
- 1:53Speaker 2: my number one goal was to be a starting pitcher
- 1:56Speaker 2: here and try to break the rotation. And uh, just
- 1:59Speaker 2: the way that our team kind of was structured out
- 2:02Speaker 2: of camp, the best spot for me was to be
- 2:05Speaker 2: in the bullpen. And again another kind of you know,
- 2:09Speaker 2: just a little bit of moment of adversity that I
- 2:13Speaker 2: you know, I didn't really take too personally, but at
- 2:15Speaker 2: the same time, like that's something I really wanted, wanted
- 2:17Speaker 2: to do. That was a goal of mine, and so
- 2:20Speaker 2: I used it as motivation and they they hinted at
- 2:25Speaker 2: leverage innings coming out of camp, and it kind of
- 2:27Speaker 2: just with the way some of the injuries happened, started
- 2:31Speaker 2: going pitching later in the games, and then that's something
- 2:34Speaker 2: I just kind of took with and ran and and
- 2:37Speaker 2: uh looking up in June and putting up good numbers
- 2:40Speaker 2: and then found myself in the All Star Games. So
- 2:43Speaker 2: it's really still something that I haven't fully wrapped my
- 2:46Speaker 2: mind around even leaving Philadelphia. But I love it, and
- 2:52Speaker 2: I love closing out the games and getting wins for
- 2:54Speaker 2: the team, and you know, here we are.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, that's it's an amazing story considering I
- 2:59Speaker 4: was with you last year year and you know, you
- 3:01Speaker 4: being sent down a couple of times now being an
- 3:03Speaker 4: All Star closer. Tell us a little bit about that
- 3:06Speaker 4: experience at the All Star Game. But I also want
- 3:08Speaker 4: to ask you about being a closure for the first time.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Has there been someone in the bullpen either this year
- 3:13Speaker 4: last year that's kind of helped you through it? And
- 3:15Speaker 4: maybe a Chris Martin or Luke Jackson from last year
- 3:18Speaker 4: and then maybe some of the guys in the bullpen
- 3:20Speaker 4: this year that have kind of helped you kind of
- 3:22Speaker 4: evolve into this closure.
- 3:25Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:26Speaker 2: You know, well, in twenty four we had Kirby Yates
- 3:29Speaker 2: and and David Robertson, and you know, we just that
- 3:34Speaker 2: was my you know, first full year in the in
- 3:36Speaker 2: the big league. So I was absorbing everything. It didn't
- 3:39Speaker 2: matter who was in what role. I was just ready
- 3:42Speaker 2: to take an information and learn anything from being up
- 3:46Speaker 2: the big leagues. And so Kirby, I mean he dominated.
- 3:50Speaker 2: He went to the to the All Star Game in
- 3:52Speaker 2: twenty four and had a one like a level one
- 3:54Speaker 2: e RA. So that was, uh, that was really cool
- 3:57Speaker 2: to witness. And then last year, you know, in twenty
- 4:00Speaker 2: we had Chris Martin to your point, Luke, Luke Jackson
- 4:04Speaker 2: and just you know, I'm I ended up going down
- 4:09Speaker 2: into Triple A in August, and we had Craig Kimberle.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So uh, you know, I wasn't like thinking about, oh,
- 4:18Speaker 2: I could be in the closer role at some point
- 4:20Speaker 2: in my career. But I was still trying to take
- 4:22Speaker 2: that information and see, you know, at least what I
- 4:25Speaker 2: could use in my own game. And then you know,
- 4:27Speaker 2: now it's served me well in that ninth inning of
- 4:31Speaker 2: one being able to trust your stuff. But then a
- 4:33Speaker 2: routine standpoint more than anything.
- 4:37Speaker 6: Okay, before I ask you a pitching question, I always
- 4:39Speaker 6: ask guys this question. When they mentioned coffee, you said
- 4:42Speaker 6: you were getting coffee. How do you take your coffee?
- 4:43Speaker 1: I don't know why. I find it so fascinating how
- 4:45Speaker 1: especially pitch take their coffee.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm pretty standard. I like an Americano black. I
- 4:54Speaker 2: kind of switched between iced or hot depending on the
- 5:00Speaker 2: time of the year. So now that it's summer in
- 5:02Speaker 2: one hundred in Texas, I gravitate more towards the ice
- 5:06Speaker 2: coffee side. But I've like experienced, like tried, you know,
- 5:11Speaker 2: latte here and there with some milk, but it definitely
- 5:16Speaker 2: I always am brought back to just the regular Americano.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I like that.
- 5:21Speaker 6: I'm a straight black coffee. But Todd was right, he
- 5:23Speaker 6: said you might go with lattes on occasion.
- 5:25Speaker 1: So kudos to Utad you did say that. Know nothing
- 5:30Speaker 1: wrong with that.
- 5:31Speaker 6: I want to talk about your All Star experience real quick.
- 5:34Speaker 1: What was it like for you? Were you nervous? Who'd
- 5:36Speaker 1: you get to talk to you know that you were
- 5:39Speaker 1: excited about?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I luckily got to talk with a
- 5:44Speaker 2: lot of people that I anticipated in you know, the
- 5:47Speaker 2: trouts in Erlander, got to like shake hands with Bryce Harper,
- 5:51Speaker 2: Brandon marsh from the af Phillies on the Nation League side,
- 5:53Speaker 2: and then you know, Kem Schulitzler from New York and
- 5:57Speaker 2: then the Bullpen guys were all who I talked to
- 6:02Speaker 2: the most, between Louis Barling, Kate Smith, Baker, you know,
- 6:07Speaker 2: and I rolled this a little bit as well with
- 6:10Speaker 2: him being here in twenty three. And then my my
- 6:13Speaker 2: lockermates were Dylan Cease and You're done. So we were
- 6:18Speaker 2: fresh office series against the Astros where You're done hit
- 6:21Speaker 2: a seemingly a home run every bad against us, So
- 6:24Speaker 2: I was trying to help them or like trying to
- 6:27Speaker 2: ask them to calm it down against us a few times.
- 6:29Speaker 5: But uh, it was just like a whirlwind of.
- 6:35Speaker 2: You know, every moment you're you're filled with with time.
- 6:37Speaker 2: There's really no really you know, space to just kind
- 6:42Speaker 2: of sit down and and absorb everything. You're You're kind
- 6:45Speaker 2: of just going from one thing to the next. So uh,
- 6:47Speaker 2: it's tough in that standpoint, but I was still able to,
- 6:51Speaker 2: you know, get the memories in meet up with family,
- 6:53Speaker 2: meet people that I've played against and compete against and
- 6:56Speaker 2: looked up to, you know, since I was in high school.
- 7:00Speaker 2: So a lot of things I'll remember for sure forever.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Todd father, are you hitting some games this summer?
- 7:08Speaker 3: What's the deal, of course? And it's real simple, Scottie Braun.
- 7:12Speaker 3: You know how it is.

- 8:04Speaker 9: So you can use it later.
- 8:06Speaker 3: I have two questions.
- 8:08Speaker 8: I'll just want to be quick, like when you're in
- 8:09Speaker 8: the alcou said he talked to world as Chapman. I
- 8:11Speaker 8: mean talk about a specimen of a human being like
- 8:14Speaker 8: I got. I got to be with him from the
- 8:16Speaker 8: Red minor league system all the way up into the
- 8:19Speaker 8: big league. Talk about I feel like he gets better
- 8:22Speaker 8: with age. It's just incredible. And I would love to
- 8:25Speaker 8: know the conversations you had when because he's a very
- 8:27Speaker 8: smart guy too as well.
- 8:30Speaker 5: He is he's very you know, reserved as well.
- 8:35Speaker 2: I think I had heard so many things about role
- 8:38Speaker 2: this before getting called up, and then I got called
- 8:40Speaker 2: up in September of twenty three, and you know, I
- 8:45Speaker 2: was like, I kind of want to see because more
- 8:48Speaker 2: so from the workout standpoint, I was like, I kind
- 8:50Speaker 2: of want to see it. So he had like a
- 8:52Speaker 2: workout and it was if it was a leg day
- 8:54Speaker 2: and he was working out, he hit every single leg
- 8:57Speaker 2: exercise you possibly could. Like, it wasn't just like I'm
- 9:01Speaker 2: doing squats today. I was like, I'm gonna do squats,
- 9:03Speaker 2: I'm gonna do lunges, I'm gonna do like hamstream curls.
- 9:07Speaker 5: Like it was literally everything.
- 9:08Speaker 2: I was like, and then we'll turn around the next
- 9:10Speaker 2: day and go pitch the ninth and and you know,
- 9:13Speaker 2: well one hundred past you. So I was like, I
- 9:17Speaker 2: kind of just joke around with them because I feel
- 9:19Speaker 2: like some of it's a little bit disconnect with the
- 9:22Speaker 2: English Spanish barrier there, but really just congratulated him on
- 9:27Speaker 2: the strikeout record, told him it's been amazing to watch,
- 9:31Speaker 2: and then I I'm trying to get into the same
- 9:34Speaker 2: role as him now in the ninth inning, but got
- 9:37Speaker 2: a lot more years to try to achieve what he has.
- 9:40Speaker 8: Yeah, dude, I think he's a potential Hall of Famer.
- 9:43Speaker 8: You talk about guys you look up to? Is there
- 9:46Speaker 8: talk about your team a little bit? I mean, I
- 9:49Speaker 8: I don't want to give away a name, but is
- 9:50Speaker 8: there guys on your team who you have great conversation
- 9:53Speaker 8: pitching wise? I could probably figure out one, but like,
- 9:56Speaker 8: talk to me about the guys that you've been leaning
- 9:58Speaker 8: on a little bit in your organize as Yeah, right.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I mean I think everyone knows now of all these
- 10:05Speaker 2: an open book and someone who is is really good
- 10:08Speaker 2: with the younger pictures and and able to kind of
- 10:10Speaker 2: just give everything that he's got and and also like coach.
- 10:15Speaker 5: Es and and break down our mechanics.
- 10:18Speaker 2: I think de Gram's another one that's that's easy to
- 10:21Speaker 2: uh to try to pick.
- 10:23Speaker 5: The brain up.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Of course, you know that's someone I grew up with
- 10:26Speaker 2: and or grew up watching, and so it's it's still
- 10:30Speaker 2: crazy that we're in the same locker room with with
- 10:33Speaker 2: a guy like him. But yeah, bringing in Gore this year, uh,
- 10:38Speaker 2: you know in the bullpen, you know you got Todd
- 10:40Speaker 2: Alexander Jacob Junas has been a guy I've leaned on.
- 10:44Speaker 2: He's he has the most experienced down there, and you
- 10:47Speaker 2: know we've been working in.
- 10:48Speaker 5: The eighth ninth together.
- 10:50Speaker 2: So just again observing, picking up on the routines and
- 10:54Speaker 2: then you know, gorbing a left handed picture as well,
- 10:58Speaker 2: just trying to you know, see see like how he
- 11:03Speaker 2: thinks on the mound and where he.
- 11:05Speaker 5: Gets his his pitch.
- 11:06Speaker 2: Shapes from, or you know, what he tries to do
- 11:09Speaker 2: to strike out guys, because you know, he's one of
- 11:12Speaker 2: the better strikeout pitchers in baseball and that's something that I,
- 11:15Speaker 2: you know, I haven't really done that well up until
- 11:17Speaker 2: this year, and so I was really curious to see
- 11:20Speaker 2: what his thoughts process was with two strikes.
- 11:24Speaker 4: You know, obviously not easy shoes to feel. You know,
- 11:27Speaker 4: when I was there last year with you, Bruce Bochi
- 11:29Speaker 4: was there last year. Tell us a little bit about
- 11:31Speaker 4: Skip Schumacher. I know he was around a ton last year,
- 11:33Speaker 4: but you know what's been kind of the biggest difference
- 11:36Speaker 4: between Boach and Skippy in there. And then you know,
- 11:40Speaker 4: you guys are obviously in a good position. You're you
- 11:42Speaker 4: guys are one game up over. You know, tell us
- 11:46Speaker 4: a little bit about you know where your team's at
- 11:48Speaker 4: and you know kind of what you guys are expecting
- 11:50Speaker 4: in the second half.
- 11:53Speaker 2: Yeah, Skips from great You know, he came in last
- 11:56Speaker 2: year and was able to observe everything, you know, from
- 12:00Speaker 2: a distance a little bit, but at least he had
- 12:02Speaker 2: that formality with UH. With a lot of us coming
- 12:05Speaker 2: into camp this year and you know, you were around
- 12:07Speaker 2: like we didn't uh, we didn't gel like thrive on
- 12:12Speaker 2: the field the way that we wanted.
- 12:13Speaker 5: To last year. But we still have a really good group.
- 12:16Speaker 2: You know, we've been around UH these guys now for
- 12:20Speaker 2: a couple of years, so it's continuing to grow. We've
- 12:24Speaker 2: had a lot of adversity. We can you know, we
- 12:26Speaker 2: show signs of never giving up and being resilient, and uh,
- 12:30Speaker 2: I've said it before. I think it really will serve
- 12:33Speaker 2: us well down the stretch when we get on a
- 12:35Speaker 2: good run and hopefully into the playoffs and and you know,
- 12:38Speaker 2: looking to to win the Pennant race here. But uh yeah,
- 12:42Speaker 2: I think overall, like it's been a lot of ups
- 12:45Speaker 2: and downs, we seem to be hovering around the five
- 12:47Speaker 2: hundred mark and skips a guy who's uh gonna keep
- 12:51Speaker 2: it pretty steady. He's gonna you know, break bread with
- 12:55Speaker 2: us in the in the lunch room and dinner room
- 12:57Speaker 2: after the games. He's gonna be around when you know,
- 13:00Speaker 2: the FIFA was on yesterday and you know, we had
- 13:04Speaker 2: a good bracket going there and so the guys who
- 13:08Speaker 2: were competing for the championship there, you know, he was
- 13:11Speaker 2: writing the mix and just cheering for us, and even
- 13:13Speaker 2: though we came up a series loss. So it's just
- 13:15Speaker 2: he feels, you know, a part of the group, someone
- 13:19Speaker 2: that we can talk to, very approachable, and so it
- 13:23Speaker 2: helps us kind of you know, not get you down
- 13:26Speaker 2: on ourselves and then continue to go on streaks when
- 13:29Speaker 2: we've shown some signs of doing some good things this.
- 13:32Speaker 4: Year, Jacob, I got one more for you. Might be
- 13:35Speaker 4: a little unfair because you're in the season and you
- 13:38Speaker 4: talk about coming into the season potentially wanting to start.
- 13:41Speaker 4: Do you still feel that way or do you feel
- 13:43Speaker 4: like the closer role is kind of where you think
- 13:45Speaker 4: you'll end up staying or you'll just kind of see
- 13:47Speaker 4: how the future plays out.
- 13:50Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the the the easy answer and the
- 13:53Speaker 2: you know, the boring answers.
- 13:54Speaker 5: I'll see how it plays out.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I will say though, that I do there is something
- 13:59Speaker 2: about the ninth inning that I've really started to to
- 14:02Speaker 2: grow into into. Like again, I've hinted at the routine
- 14:06Speaker 2: aspect of it, slow built into the day, the ability
- 14:10Speaker 2: to impact games on a regular basis as opposed to
- 14:13Speaker 2: every five days, even though that is a lot, sometimes
- 14:16Speaker 2: the days in between seem like they drag on for
- 14:18Speaker 2: a while.
- 14:19Speaker 5: Uh So, we'll see. But I do love the.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Ninth inning role and I hope to carry that on
- 14:24Speaker 2: for as long as I can.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Hey, you mentioned that you guys.
- 14:29Speaker 6: Did you mention you guys were watching the World Cup
- 14:31Speaker 6: in the clubhouse yesterday and Skip was there?
- 14:33Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 14:34Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, Well.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Tell me about what that was like. To watch it
- 14:37Speaker 1: as a.
- 14:37Speaker 2: Group we had you know, we all did pick the
- 14:43Speaker 2: names out of the hat, and I drew Argentina actually,
- 14:46Speaker 2: and then someone else drew Spain, and.
- 14:49Speaker 5: I think Jock ended up.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Making some deals with with guys to have a couple
- 14:55Speaker 2: of different teams, so he was kind of destined to
- 14:57Speaker 2: be in the finals, so as Jock and I and
- 14:59Speaker 2: then on the coaching side, Rob Rajas and Argentina I
- 15:05Speaker 2: think was one of the trainers.
- 15:07Speaker 5: So we were all kind of like they're.
- 15:09Speaker 2: Just trying to see who was gonna take home the
- 15:12Speaker 2: the winnings, and you know, Skip was right in the mix.
- 15:15Speaker 2: Like I said, we were. We were about to catch the
- 15:18Speaker 2: bus and go to the airport. But there wasn't a
- 15:22Speaker 2: lot to cheer about, so it wasn't the greatest experience.
- 15:26Speaker 2: But ultimately, yes, being taken home and I didn't win,
- 15:29Speaker 2: of course Jack won and Rob Brajas, but good for them,
- 15:33Speaker 2: you know.
- 15:34Speaker 6: Team bonding, team chemistry, even though there wasn't a whole
- 15:37Speaker 6: lot to cheer about with that game, Jake, we appreciate
- 15:41Speaker 6: Thank you so much, and good luck the rest of
- 15:43Speaker 6: the season.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Go get your sour dough or your coffee or whatever
- 15:45Speaker 1: you say, sour. Is that what you're getting?
- 15:49Speaker 2: Yeah, sour dough with some with some jam on it.
- 15:52Speaker 2: I mean, come on, that's that's good.
- 15:55Speaker 6: Are you a sourdough you know surely you're not a
- 15:58Speaker 6: sour dough maker? Like, do you have a sourdough start?
- 16:00Speaker 4: Hey, Jake, I will have I will, I will deliver
- 16:03Speaker 4: you some when I get back from this trip. I'll
- 16:05Speaker 4: have my wife make you some and I will bring
- 16:07Speaker 4: you some.
- 16:08Speaker 5: Well, perfect people, they understand it.
- 16:11Speaker 2: It's yeah, if you have some good quality sour bread like,
- 16:16Speaker 2: trust me, it's it's awesome.
- 16:17Speaker 5: So I appreciate you. Guys.
- 16:20Speaker 3: We can we can tell you're not from my area
- 16:22Speaker 3: calling it soured old bread. But that's okay. Listen, I
- 16:24Speaker 3: know exactly what you mean. Brother. It's very good and
- 16:27Speaker 3: you call it Jamoh I love that. I love it.
- 16:32Speaker 5: No, Yeah, what's it called?
- 16:34Speaker 3: It's you.
- 16:36Speaker 8: It's either whatever type of bread you want, So I
- 16:38Speaker 8: just called bread for one, you know, semolina. There's all
- 16:42Speaker 8: different types of you know, bread that you can get,
- 16:45Speaker 8: but all good.
- 16:46Speaker 3: That's what they do. White toast, I mean whatever, it's
- 16:49Speaker 3: all good.
- 16:50Speaker 6: No, sourdough bread is not white toast. Sour dough bread
- 16:53Speaker 6: is much better for you than white toast top.
- 16:56Speaker 3: But it's thicker. It's a thicker piece thick.
- 17:00Speaker 2: So hey, I mean, well I was you know, I've
- 17:03Speaker 2: been gluten free or whatever since I was eight, so
- 17:06Speaker 2: sourdough is one of the pieces of bread that doesn't
- 17:09Speaker 2: have it in there, so I'm able to at least
- 17:11Speaker 2: consume it. And it's delicious. That That's kind of why
- 17:14Speaker 2: I'm on that cake right now.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I love that.
- 17:18Speaker 6: I love that we learned something new about Jakes today.
- 17:20Speaker 6: All Right, thank you so much, Jake. Good luck the
- 17:22Speaker 6: rest of the season. We appreciate you.
- 17:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I appreciate your time. Thank you.
- 17:26Speaker 6: Wow, we just learned so much more about Jake gluten
- 17:28Speaker 6: free for a while, love sour dough bread, and Todd
- 17:31Speaker 6: thinks white bread is sour dough bread.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Listen.
- 17:34Speaker 8: I've went to a restaurant before and I asked for
- 17:36Speaker 8: They what kind of toast you want? I said, I
- 17:38Speaker 8: want white toast with light butter, and they say, oh,
- 17:41Speaker 8: you mean sour dough.
- 17:41Speaker 3: I said, no, that is not what I want.
- 17:44Speaker 8: I don't want the thickest piece of bread you're gonna
- 17:46Speaker 8: get with your breakfast.
- 17:48Speaker 3: I want the.
- 17:49Speaker 8: White bread or what's the other one called?
- 17:57Speaker 9: Right?
- 17:58Speaker 3: Rye? Give me Rye, like I'll take come on, ry is.
- 18:03Speaker 1: The worst kind of bread. I hate Ryan. It's only.
- 18:08Speaker 8: Every time I get the sour Lady's like, well, it's
- 18:10Speaker 8: just so you know, it's really thick bread.
- 18:12Speaker 3: I'm like, I don't want it. Then I don't want
- 18:13Speaker 3: the bread. I just want I want nothing, and I
- 18:17Speaker 3: bet it.
- 18:18Speaker 1: But like he said, it's so much better for you,
- 18:21Speaker 1: kind of better you.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I'm a sour dough I me and my wife makes it.
- 18:25Speaker 4: You know, we have it all the time. You know,
- 18:28Speaker 4: she pretty much makes everything out of sour dough. It's great, pancakes,
- 18:31Speaker 4: cinnamon rolls, tortillas, it's great.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Sour dough. Cookies are so much better than anybody thinks. Todd,
- 18:38Speaker 1: you gotta get on the right track here, all right.
- 18:41Speaker 3: I'm lost. I'm lost in translation here.
- 18:45Speaker 9: I want to ask you something. I didn't get a
- 18:47Speaker 9: chance to ask Jacob this.
- 18:48Speaker 4: But the the Rangers presented him, obviously with his all
- 18:52Speaker 4: star uniform, but they also gave him a gift. They
- 18:54Speaker 4: gave him a golf back. Jacob's a huge golfer. Did
- 18:57Speaker 4: you ever teams when you went to the All Star game,
- 18:59Speaker 4: they give you a gift in addition to like obviously
- 19:04Speaker 4: presenting youw jersey or is that kind of a newer thing.
- 19:07Speaker 8: No, I don't remember. I remember having to, you know,
- 19:12Speaker 8: get gifts for the team. Remember that, Like, I, what
- 19:16Speaker 8: did I get the team? I got them all. You know,
- 19:20Speaker 8: some guys would get shirts or whatever for me. Also,
- 19:22Speaker 8: I was like, oh, no, that's not it. It was
- 19:24Speaker 8: some kind of electronic. I got thirty of them for
- 19:26Speaker 8: the boys and for the coaches. I forget what electronic.
- 19:29Speaker 8: It was something to deal with music. But I went
- 19:32Speaker 8: above and beyond there for the boys. But I never
- 19:35Speaker 8: I never received a gift. I know that's nice.

- 20:51Speaker 1: All right, this is a fun segment.
- 20:53Speaker 6: You guys get to say whether you think they're going
- 20:54Speaker 6: to be traded or if you think they're stay and put,
- 20:57Speaker 6: and what teams they might go to. And I guess
- 21:00Speaker 6: we're spinning the wheel on my cue once I tee
- 21:02Speaker 6: one of you up.
- 21:03Speaker 8: Yeah, let's get that wheel spinning, take it away?
- 21:09Speaker 9: All right, that's been the wheel. I'm excited. I've always
- 21:11Speaker 9: wanted to be on a game show.
- 21:13Speaker 8: Big Box, No Whemban, Here we go.
- 21:18Speaker 9: Oh I love that. I love that.
- 21:25Speaker 4: Do I think he's gonna stay or go? Watch covering
- 21:28Speaker 4: this Blue Jays team has obviously been a very disappointing year.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I think the fact that you know, a team like
- 21:35Speaker 4: Detroit has played better, you know, recently, and Scooble was
- 21:39Speaker 4: obviously the prized possession. I think the Blue Jays are.
- 21:43Speaker 4: I think that the next week is going to be
- 21:45Speaker 4: very telling. I think if they can go out and
- 21:47Speaker 4: maybe win, you know, six or seven games, I think
- 21:49Speaker 4: we're having a different conversation. But the way that they've
- 21:51Speaker 4: been playing recently or actually the entire year, I don't
- 21:55Speaker 4: think they have a choice. I think it's going to
- 21:57Speaker 4: be a very difficult conversation to have with a guy
- 22:00Speaker 4: like Kevin Gosman. What he's meant to that organization. He's
- 22:03Speaker 4: exceeded the expectations of what they did when they signed
- 22:06Speaker 4: him there. But I think he's the He could be
- 22:10Speaker 4: the best picture available on the market right now, and
- 22:12Speaker 4: I think they can kind of get a for it
- 22:14Speaker 4: and put their franchise in a really good situation. And
- 22:17Speaker 4: you never know what things like this, how much Gosman's
- 22:20Speaker 4: been knowing it potentially could be the end of his career.
- 22:23Speaker 4: He's talked about potentially retiring at the end of the year,
- 22:26Speaker 4: but there is a chance that they trade him. He
- 22:28Speaker 4: goes on somewhere and maybe they bring him back next
- 22:30Speaker 4: year for his final year.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Love that take, Love that take.
- 22:35Speaker 6: All Right, we're gonna spin the wheel again and it's
- 22:38Speaker 6: Todd's turn, right, Yes, do I have this right? I'm
- 22:40Speaker 6: totally new to this whole game show thing. I'll never
- 22:42Speaker 6: be hosting the prices, right, that's for sure.
- 22:48Speaker 3: Come on, come on, come on, school schoolble Oh not yet.
- 22:52Speaker 1: No, here we go ooh see.
- 22:55Speaker 8: J Abrams fantastic. This guy has been talked about for
- 23:00Speaker 8: a long time now. He's been absolutely fantastic under team
- 23:05Speaker 8: controls through twenty twenty eight. So that makes a little
- 23:08Speaker 8: bit of a difference of what they want to do here.
- 23:11Speaker 8: The Braves have been linked to be a dream possibility
- 23:14Speaker 8: for them. The Braves are fantastic team. If they find
- 23:18Speaker 8: a way of getting somebody like c j Abrams watch out,
- 23:21Speaker 8: I think that would be a potential for them to
- 23:23Speaker 8: make a good little push against the ever.
- 23:26Speaker 3: So loved Dodgers. Listen.
- 23:29Speaker 8: Red Sox also have an opportunity I think linked with
- 23:32Speaker 8: them to the President of Baseball Ops Paul Tiboni, could
- 23:36Speaker 8: look to make another trade so listen, the guy has
- 23:39Speaker 8: been really good. I think it's an opportunity for the
- 23:42Speaker 8: Nationals to get back some guys. I think this is
- 23:44Speaker 8: a time to let him go and let him go
- 23:47Speaker 8: prosper somebody else, because the Nationals are just not in it.
- 23:50Speaker 8: So I think they should be trading. Come trade deadline sellers, sellers, sellers.
- 23:57Speaker 6: You heard it from Todd first, All right, KIPI, it's
- 23:59Speaker 6: your turn to spin the wheel.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Spin it said, Oh, okay, okay, are they gonna trade
- 24:14Speaker 4: Jose Soriano? What Jose Soriano did for the first eight
- 24:19Speaker 4: starts of the year was historic.
- 24:21Speaker 9: I was a teammate of him.
- 24:22Speaker 4: This guy is really just scratching the surface of being
- 24:26Speaker 4: a bona fide ace in this game. You talk about
- 24:30Speaker 4: impact pitchers, and you talk about when you're trying to
- 24:32Speaker 4: make a trade at the trade deadline and you're acquiring
- 24:34Speaker 4: a pitcher. Do you see this guy pitching one of
- 24:37Speaker 4: the postseason games and Jose Soriano checks that box for me?
- 24:40Speaker 4: Are the Angels gonna trade him? That's the multi million
- 24:43Speaker 4: dollar question right here. I know, with Harry out John mazzalagain,
- 24:47Speaker 4: does he have the pulse of the room, Does he
- 24:50Speaker 4: have already's ear and tries to put this Chize in
- 24:54Speaker 4: a situation where over the last couple of years they
- 24:56Speaker 4: haven't quite been able to get to You think about
- 24:59Speaker 4: guys that go Tani that they didn't trade and they
- 25:01Speaker 4: could have got a franchise altering return for Not to
- 25:04Speaker 4: say Soriano is going to get that same return. You know,
- 25:08Speaker 4: with him being under team control for a couple more years,
- 25:12Speaker 4: his value is extremely high right now. The fact that
- 25:15Speaker 4: he would start a postseason game for many teams such
- 25:18Speaker 4: as the Phillies, the Blue Jays if they.
- 25:19Speaker 9: Decided to buy.
- 25:20Speaker 4: How about the Chicago White Sox getting a guy like
- 25:22Speaker 4: him in their rotation. You can never count out teams
- 25:25Speaker 4: like the Dodgers, the Braves, and even the Cubs, a
- 25:27Speaker 4: team desperate for starting pitching. I would love to see
- 25:30Speaker 4: the Angels trade him because that's just not what they've
- 25:33Speaker 4: done in the past. You have an asset they're not
- 25:35Speaker 4: going anywhere this year, the next year, probably another year
- 25:38Speaker 4: after that.
- 25:38Speaker 9: Start to build for the future.
- 25:42Speaker 1: Oh that's great.
- 25:43Speaker 6: Sorry, I'm still laughing at Todd absolutely roasting me in
- 25:46Speaker 6: the group chat over this.
- 25:47Speaker 1: Eighteen hundred. You can just spend the wheelbacks go.
- 25:53Speaker 8: Ahead, not bad boy. Come on, I'm waiting for one
- 25:57Speaker 8: guy and one guy only, Scooble, Come on, give it
- 26:00Speaker 8: to me. Yes, yes, I you know, had a feeling. Listen,
- 26:08Speaker 8: they've been doing good. But I've been on this team. Man,
- 26:12Speaker 8: I don't know what it is. I feel like the
- 26:14Speaker 8: time is out, the time is running out. This is
- 26:16Speaker 8: a guy in Trek Scuoble that this team needs to
- 26:21Speaker 8: get rid of. You know, I'm just going straight to
- 26:23Speaker 8: the bullet here. This is a team that understandably needs
- 26:27Speaker 8: to get a lot of guys to help them in
- 26:29Speaker 8: the long run. I don't think Trek Schouble is going
- 26:32Speaker 8: to come back after this year, So what are you
- 26:35Speaker 8: waiting for? This is the time to get rid of
- 26:37Speaker 8: this guy. Even though yeah, he's the best pitcher in baseball,
- 26:41Speaker 8: one of the best. He's the best left handed pitcher
- 26:42Speaker 8: in baseball. He's awesome.
- 26:46Speaker 3: I get it. But it's time to get more guys.
- 26:49Speaker 8: You can get pretty much whomever you need prospect wise,
- 26:52Speaker 8: a couple veterans, whatever you need in this situation. You
- 26:55Speaker 8: might have to eat up a little money, but it's
- 26:57Speaker 8: the time come trade deadline to see who will be there.
- 27:04Speaker 8: It's a hard decision. But at the same time, he's
- 27:08Speaker 8: probably gonna stay knowing what the Tigers like to do
- 27:10Speaker 8: and thinking they have a chance to win the World Series.
- 27:12Speaker 8: I don't see it. They still got a fight to
- 27:15Speaker 8: get in the playoffs. So time write it down, send
- 27:18Speaker 8: it on over. They're open for business.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Time to sell, all right, we'll.
- 27:23Speaker 1: See I guess you think Scooble's on the move. All right, KP,
- 27:25Speaker 1: it's your turn. Spin that wheel.
- 27:27Speaker 9: All right, let's spin it.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Oh.
- 27:38Speaker 4: I was hoping for Joe Ryan, but Saizuki, Wow, this
- 27:43Speaker 4: is very interesting. I know he's gonna be a free
- 27:45Speaker 4: agent at the end of the year. He's putting up
- 27:47Speaker 4: good numbers, but and he has a no trade clause.
- 27:51Speaker 4: The Cubs are in this thing. I think the Cubs
- 27:53Speaker 4: whether the only scenario I see the Cubs moving on
- 27:57Speaker 4: from a guy like this is a major League for
- 27:59Speaker 4: major the player trade. If the Cubs are able to
- 28:02Speaker 4: go out and maybe acquire a guy like George Kirby
- 28:05Speaker 4: Luis Castillo from the Mariners, who could obviously use a
- 28:09Speaker 4: little bit more offense in their lineup, you have my
- 28:11Speaker 4: blessing to do that. But if you're going out and
- 28:14Speaker 4: getting rid of Suzuki for potentially the future. I don't think.
- 28:17Speaker 4: I don't see the Cubs doing that. The Cubs are
- 28:19Speaker 4: in a position, uh to go out and win a
- 28:23Speaker 4: wildcard spot. I just don't see him doing it. I mean,
- 28:26Speaker 4: unless the Phillies maybe are going to give you some
- 28:28Speaker 4: some major league ready starting pitching, which I don't think
- 28:31Speaker 4: they necessarily have outside of their guys in the major
- 28:35Speaker 4: leagues right now. But I don't see the Cubs moving
- 28:37Speaker 4: on from him. I think I think he stays.
- 28:41Speaker 6: Okay, Gosha, he's saying put with the Kubies. Todd agrees.
- 28:44Speaker 6: Todd agrees, Okay. Todd is also spinning the wheel.
- 28:47Speaker 1: Go Todd, it.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Where we're gong. You know, he's Donnie Gray.
- 29:03Speaker 8: How about this guy man coming in twelve and one
- 29:05Speaker 8: two point four eighty ra He's been absolutely a delight
- 29:09Speaker 8: in Boston. You're not trading this guy, You are not selling,
- 29:12Speaker 8: you are keeping this guy. He's been unbelievable. I mean,
- 29:16Speaker 8: think about his career. You know what he started at
- 29:18Speaker 8: in Oakland, went with the Yankees. He's been around the
- 29:20Speaker 8: block with a couple of different teams, you know, Cardinals.
- 29:25Speaker 8: He's been doing it and it just seems like he's
- 29:27Speaker 8: one of those guys like, man, he's still pitching. Yeah,
- 29:30Speaker 8: he's and he's doing fantastic. He has a no trade
- 29:32Speaker 8: clause if they do wind up selling, which I don't
- 29:36Speaker 8: think they will. Uh he's been talking linked about saying, hey, listen,
- 29:40Speaker 8: I will move my no trade clause, you know if
- 29:43Speaker 8: you guys are selling, So that's always a part. But
- 29:46Speaker 8: they are doing great. They're in third place in the wildcard.
- 29:49Speaker 8: This guy has been a staple, Keep him and go
- 29:53Speaker 8: buy something else. So they're not selling him all right.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Not selling keeping him KP final I got.
- 30:00Speaker 9: The final one. I think let's do it.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Got the final spin and no pressure.
- 30:07Speaker 3: One guy left, Jose Ryan.
- 30:13Speaker 9: Yeah, I think absolutely he gets traded.
- 30:15Speaker 4: I know Minnesota has been kind of a surprise this year,
- 30:18Speaker 4: you know, kind of floating in that wildcard spot. Obviously
- 30:21Speaker 4: the division they play in, there's no runaway right now.
- 30:24Speaker 4: Do they have an outside chance of going out and
- 30:28Speaker 4: getting a wildcard spot? Possibly, But you consider everything the
- 30:32Speaker 4: Twins did last year and pretty much selling off everything
- 30:35Speaker 4: that they had minus Joe Ryan and Byron Buxton. Joe
- 30:38Speaker 4: Ryan coming off an All Star appearance two point five
- 30:42Speaker 4: e er a whip right around one. He's also controllable
- 30:45Speaker 4: for the through the twenty twenty seventh season. I don't
- 30:49Speaker 4: think his trade value is ever going to be higher.
- 30:52Speaker 4: We heard Bob earlier on the show talk about how
- 30:54Speaker 4: this is going to be the ultimate seller's market. What
- 30:58Speaker 4: Joe Ryan can get in return from teams like the
- 31:00Speaker 4: White Sox, as the Blue Jays decided to go on
- 31:02Speaker 4: at the Cubs are desperate for starting pitching, and the
- 31:05Speaker 4: Diamondbacks could also use another starter. So I think there's
- 31:08Speaker 4: no better time to sell this guy. You know, it's
- 31:11Speaker 4: a hard thing to sell to your franchise the Minnesota
- 31:15Speaker 4: fans as well too, but considering what they did last
- 31:18Speaker 4: year and the position they put themselves in this this year,
- 31:21Speaker 4: pretty incredible. But setting yourself up for the future, Joe
- 31:26Speaker 4: Ryan's your big piece, you know, unless you're able to
- 31:28Speaker 4: get convinced Byron Buckson and move on, Joe Ryan is
- 31:31Speaker 4: going to bring you a king's ransom back
