• 0:01
Speaker 1: Welcome in as verdict with Centator Ted Cruz, Ben Ferguson
• 0:04
Speaker 1: with you and Senator This is one of those fun
• 0:06
Speaker 1: shows we get to do towards the end of the year,
• 0:08
Speaker 1: and that's talking about the GOP open up a canawhoop
• 0:11
Speaker 1: pay on the Democrats, especially in the Senate. We had
• 0:14
Speaker 1: big wins for the American people that are going to
• 0:18
Speaker 1: have a real impact, especially on a lot of Americans
• 0:22
Speaker 1: millions in twenty twenty six from many of the laws
• 0:25
Speaker 1: that were passed are actually enacted on a scala one
• 0:28
  Speaker 1: to ten.
• 0:29
Speaker 2: How excite are you about the results from this year?
• 0:32
  Speaker 3: Thirty seven?
• 0:33
Speaker 2: Thirty seven? Okay, I like that.
• 0:35
Speaker 4: Look this year, it is not an exaggeration to say
• 0:41
Speaker 4: we had historic victories in the Senate. We had victories
• 0:45
Speaker 4: at a order of magnitude we've never seen. And so
• 0:49
Speaker 4: this show, we're just going to walk through all of
• 0:50
  Speaker 4: the victories we've.
• 0:51
Speaker 3: Won in the Senate.
• 0:52
Speaker 4: I'll tell you, in my thirteen years in the Senate,
• 0:55
Speaker 4: I have never had a year like this with so
• 0:58
Speaker 4: many major victories, with how many accomplishments that are lasting
• 1:03
Speaker 4: and transformational and and and look we came in and
• 1:07
Speaker 4: started the year with President Trump being sworn in and
• 1:10
Speaker 4: the Trump administration hit the ground running with with a
• 1:14
Speaker 4: head of steam. But the Senate and the Senate is now,
• 1:19
Speaker 4: Congress is out now for Christmas. We'll come back after
• 1:22
Speaker 4: New Years. What we accomplished this year is transformation. All right.
• 1:29
Speaker 3: Let's start with the board. We came in.
• 1:32
Speaker 4: The border was wide open, the worst illegal immigration in history.
• 1:36
Speaker 4: We now have a president and an administration that will
• 1:38
Speaker 4: follow the law. Illegal border crossings dropped more than ninety
• 1:42
  Speaker 4: nine percent.
• 1:43
Speaker 2: That is static, incredible.
• 1:45
Speaker 1: Tom Holman at the White House this week was talking
• 1:47
Speaker 1: about he's worked under I think it's five six presidents.
• 1:50
Speaker 1: Crazy and he's like, I've never seen something like this
• 1:53
Speaker 1: where we have like zero illegal immigration because we secured
• 1:56
Speaker 1: it and we said you're not going to get away
• 1:58
  Speaker 1: with it.
• 2:00
Speaker 4: And if you look legislatively, by far, legislatively, the biggest
• 2:04
Speaker 4: accomplishment was the Reconciliation Bill that President Trump signed on
• 2:08
Speaker 4: July fourth. It's interesting that used to be called the
• 2:12
Speaker 4: one big beautiful bill. You will now see just about
• 2:16
Speaker 4: every Senator referring to it as the working Family's tax cut.
• 2:21
Speaker 4: Same bill, and there's a reason, which is they did
• 2:23
Speaker 4: a bunch of polling and the Working Family Tax Cut
• 2:26
Speaker 4: polls about forty points better than the one big beautiful bill,
• 2:30
Speaker 4: And so it happens to be a major tax cut
• 2:33
Speaker 4: for working family. So the Working Family's tax cut is
• 2:36
Speaker 4: an accurate name. But you're going to notice everyone calling
• 2:39
Speaker 4: it the working Family's tax cut. Now that legislation, and
• 2:45
Speaker 4: this no hyperbole, has more conservative victories in it than
• 2:49
Speaker 4: any bill that's ever passed into law, I believe in
• 2:52
Speaker 4: the history of the Republic.
• 2:54
Speaker 3: Let's break it down.
• 2:55
Speaker 1: I'll just say, what are the big ones for bal
• 2:57
Speaker 1: Because there's some in there that there's been quote frustration.
• 3:01
Speaker 1: I think a lot of this is the left in
• 3:02
Speaker 1: the media trying to drum up that Donald Trump's not
• 3:05
Speaker 1: getting it done for you.
• 3:06
Speaker 2: He forgot about you.
• 3:07
Speaker 1: So much of what people need to understand is the
• 3:11
Speaker 1: passing of this bill means the enacting of the bill
• 3:14
Speaker 1: in twenty twenty six.
• 3:16
Speaker 4: Yeah, many of the provisions go into effect in twenty
• 3:19
Speaker 4: twenty six. You're going to start seeing the real benefits
• 3:22
Speaker 4: in the economy kicking in in force in twenty twenty six.
• 3:26
Speaker 4: All right, Look, the Working Family's Tax cut, the biggest
• 3:29
Speaker 4: element of it was extending and making permanent the Trump
• 3:32
Speaker 4: tax cuts. If we had not done that in two
• 3:36
Speaker 4: weeks on January first, there would have been a four
• 3:39
Speaker 4: trillion dollar tax increase that would have been crippling to
• 3:43
Speaker 4: the economy. So making those tax cuts permanent is enormously important.
• 3:47
Speaker 4: We also made them bigger, so we passed no taxes
• 3:50
Speaker 4: on tips. That was my legislation. By the way, people
• 3:53
Speaker 4: will start seeing the benefits of that next year. So
• 3:56
  Speaker 4: if you're a waiter, if you're a waitress, if you're
• 3:58
Speaker 4: a bartender, if you work in a nail salon, if
• 4:01
Speaker 4: you're a taxicab driver, that the millions of Americans who
• 4:04
Speaker 4: rely on tips are going to see real, meaningful tax relief.
• 4:09
Speaker 4: We've also got no tax on overtime, millions of Americans
• 4:13
Speaker 4: who earn a significant portion of their income on overtime
• 4:17
Speaker 4: that's now tax free. No tax on Social Security for
• 4:20
Speaker 4: the millions of seniors at home relying on Social Security.
• 4:24
Speaker 4: All three of those are going to effect in twenty
• 4:26
Speaker 4: twenty six. All three of those are going to provide
• 4:29
  Speaker 4: really meaningful relief.
• 4:31
Speaker 3: What else do we have?
• 4:34
Speaker 4: You look at the investments that we have over one
• 4:38
Speaker 4: hundred billion dollars in secure in the border. So Trump
• 4:42
Speaker 4: is enforcing the law that was critical that produced the
• 4:45
Speaker 4: immediate drop. And now we provided the funding to build
• 4:48
Speaker 4: the wall, to put in technology, to hire border patrol,
• 4:52
Speaker 4: to hire ice, to invest in law enforcement. All of
• 4:55
Speaker 4: that is designed to make these massive improvements stick. That is,
• 5:02
Speaker 4: as a conservative, there's never been a one hundred billion
• 5:05
Speaker 4: dollar investment in securing the border.
• 5:07
Speaker 2: You know, it's interesting.
• 5:08
Speaker 1: I was speaking yesterday to a realator group. They asked
• 5:12
Speaker 1: me to come and speak, and they said to me,
• 5:13
Speaker 1: they never could have imagined that securing the border would
• 5:18
Speaker 1: have such a positive impact as they've described it for
• 5:22
Speaker 1: American families. They said they were witnessing over the last
• 5:25
Speaker 1: basically four and a half years, the age of first
• 5:30
Speaker 1: time home buyers had skyrocketed, where home ownership was unattainable
• 5:35
Speaker 1: for families, young families in their thirties. It was now
• 5:38
Speaker 1: getting to be forty before people were getting the first.
• 5:40
Speaker 2: Time home buyer. Rent had gotten out of control.
• 5:43
Speaker 1: And they said they can't wait for twenty twenty six
• 5:47
Speaker 1: because they are seeing now with two million plus deportations,
• 5:51
Speaker 1: people have stopped coming across the border illegally. They believe
• 5:54
Speaker 1: it's going to be a great year for American families
• 5:57
Speaker 1: and first time home buyers because now you're not having
• 5:59
Speaker 1: to con pete with so many illegal immigrants.
• 6:02
Speaker 4: Well, and we covered that on Wednesday's pod, that the
• 6:05
Speaker 4: new data came out that showed rents dropped significantly, and
• 6:08
Speaker 4: they dropped significantly because the President has deported two million
• 6:12
Speaker 4: people who are here illegally. Those people are now not
• 6:15
Speaker 4: buying homes, they're not running apartments and supply and demand.
• 6:19
Speaker 4: That means that it drives down the cost of a home.
• 6:22
Speaker 4: It drives down the cost of rent for Americans.
• 6:26
Speaker 1: Yeah, it really does. It's incredible. And that's just one
• 6:29
Speaker 1: of those massive victories. And it's not just that, it's
• 6:31
Speaker 1: also the national security part of this.
• 6:33
Speaker 2: I mean, really, do you hear.
• 6:34
Speaker 1: Home prices and national security really to one simple issue
• 6:38
Speaker 1: that's something that you had been fighting so hard on
• 6:40
  Speaker 1: to another victory.
• 6:42
Speaker 4: Well, and in the Working Families tax cut, we invested
• 6:44
Speaker 4: one hundred and fifty billion dollars in rebuilding the military
• 6:48
Speaker 4: so we can stand up to our adversaries, so we
• 6:50
Speaker 4: can stand up to China and the other enemies.
• 6:52
Speaker 3: We have across the globe.
• 6:54
Speaker 4: And the way it works in the Senate is when
• 6:57
Speaker 4: you're drafting that bill. Each committee chairman drafts whatever is
• 7:02
Speaker 4: in their jurisdiction. So I am the chairman of the
• 7:04
Speaker 4: Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. That committee covers
• 7:09
Speaker 4: about forty percent of the US economy. What that means
• 7:11
Speaker 4: is that everything within that jurisdiction I wrote.
• 7:15
Speaker 3: I had the lead pen and wrote.
• 7:19
Speaker 4: So, for example, one thing that is in the Commerce
• 7:22
Speaker 4: jurisdiction is the Coastguard. So we invested twenty four and
• 7:26
Speaker 4: a half billion dollars in.
• 7:29
  Speaker 3: The Coast Guard.
• 7:30
Speaker 4: Now, to give you a sense of how important that is,
• 7:33
Speaker 4: how significant that is. What what do you think the
• 7:35
Speaker 4: annual budget of the Coastguard is?
• 7:37
Speaker 2: I honestly have no clue.
• 7:39
Speaker 4: It's between eleven and twelve billion. Okay, So we invested
• 7:43
Speaker 4: more than two hundred percent the annual budget of the
• 7:46
Speaker 4: Coast Guard into the Coast Guard.
• 7:48
Speaker 3: I mean, I mean it is.
• 7:49
Speaker 1: Store were purposely and deliberately underfunded by the Left and
• 7:52
Speaker 1: the Biden administration because they didn't want them to be
• 7:54
Speaker 1: able to do this job.
• 7:56
Speaker 4: Well, look, it was what we were investing. And let
• 7:58
Speaker 4: me tell you what we invested. It was specifically in capital,
• 8:01
Speaker 4: so rebuilding infrastructure, building new ships, building new helicopters, and
• 8:06
Speaker 4: a massive portion of it is polar ice cutters.
• 8:09
Speaker 3: So polar ice cutters in the Arctic.
• 8:12
Speaker 4: We're getting our asses kicked by China and by Russia,
• 8:16
Speaker 4: and we don't have the capability right now.
• 8:19
Speaker 3: To build Arctic ice cutters.
• 8:21
Speaker 4: Well, we've invested billions in building new ice cutters. And
• 8:24
Speaker 4: the beauty of it is that's bringing shipbuilding back to
• 8:27
Speaker 4: the United States. One company, Davies, announced a billion and
• 8:31
Speaker 4: a half dollars investment in a shipyard in Galveston, Texas
• 8:35
Speaker 4: to build those ships. Let us compete with China, but
• 8:38
Speaker 4: also bringing manufacturing capacity back to the United States.
• 8:42
Speaker 2: Operation Overlord the D Day Beaches.
• 8:45
Speaker 1: You and I share a passion for history, so I
• 8:48
Speaker 1: hope you'll join me next spring on the d DA
• 8:51
Speaker 1: Beaches in Normandy. That's right, the invasion that sealed Hitler's doom,
• 8:55
Speaker 1: o Maha and Utah. You're going to discover the sacred
• 8:58
Speaker 1: patch of sand with me. Ten days in Europe, luxury
• 9:02
Speaker 1: hotels and fully escorted by America's leading expert on France
• 9:06
Speaker 1: and the D Day Invasion can chase fifty seven fifty
• 9:10
Speaker 1: seven and that includes your airfare. You're gonna stand at
• 9:14
Speaker 1: General Patten's grave site by Stone Point Duhal and Mulberry Harbor.
• 9:18
Speaker 1: Call my friends at Conservative Tours on your cell phone.
• 9:21
Speaker 1: Just dial pound two fifty and say the keyword Conservative Tours,
• 9:26
Speaker 1: or go to Conservative Tours dot com an A plus
• 9:30
Speaker 1: rating with the BBB all your sight seeing in Paris.
• 9:33
Speaker 1: To dial pound two fifty say the keyword Conservative Tours.
• 9:37
Speaker 1: You'll have the option to receive a one time auto
• 9:40
Speaker 1: dialed text message from my Heart Media Center. There was
• 9:43
Speaker 1: so much a focus on the economy and this last
• 9:47
Speaker 1: year and the wins, but there were some really big
• 9:50
Speaker 1: wins within that. One of them deals with the airwaves,
• 9:54
Speaker 1: and it deals with national security, It deals with people
• 9:57
Speaker 1: and what you can have access to explain this big
• 10:00
Speaker 1: win because it didn't get as much media attention as
• 10:02
Speaker 1: it probably should have.
• 10:03
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 10:03
Speaker 4: Look, as you know, my number one priority is jobs, jobs, jobs, jobs.
• 10:09
Speaker 4: There are lots of major wins this year that we
• 10:12
Speaker 4: passed into law that are impacting job creation, that are
• 10:16
Speaker 4: creating more high paying jobs in Texas and all across
• 10:18
Speaker 4: the country. One of the big ones is spectrum. Now,
• 10:21
Speaker 4: what is spectrum? Electromagnetic spectrum is how everything communicates, how
• 10:25
Speaker 4: how our cell phones work, how Wi Fi works, how
• 10:29
Speaker 4: TV and broadcasts and everything goes out over spectrum. The
• 10:34
Speaker 4: largest holder of spectrum in the United States is the
• 10:37
Speaker 4: United States government. The United States government has massive quantities
• 10:41
Speaker 4: of spectrum that it owns that are not available to
• 10:43
Speaker 4: the private sector. I wrote into the Working Families Tax
• 10:47
Speaker 4: cut a mandate that the federal government auction off eight
• 10:51
Speaker 4: hundred megahertz a spectrum to the private sector. Now, now
• 10:54
Speaker 4: what does that mean. That means that in the coming
• 10:57
Speaker 4: years that is going to generate over one hundred billion
• 11:02
Speaker 4: dollars for the US government. I mean, the spectrum is
• 11:05
Speaker 4: incredibly valuable. That's real money that goes directly to the
• 11:10
Speaker 4: US Treasury. Now, why will it generate over one hundred
• 11:13
Speaker 4: billion dollars? Because that spectrum is incredibly valuable. Number one,
• 11:17
  Speaker 4: it's it's it's valuable for our phones. It's valuable to
• 11:21
Speaker 4: beat China in the race for five G and then
• 11:25
Speaker 4: beat China and the race for six G. And you've
• 11:28
Speaker 4: got to have the spectrum to invest in that. What
• 11:30
Speaker 4: that means is you're gonna see You're gonna see the
• 11:32
Speaker 4: big phone companies. You're gonna see AT and T and
• 11:34
Speaker 4: Verizon and Sprint investing tens of billions of dollars into
• 11:40
Speaker 4: new capacity to use that spectrum. All of that means
• 11:43
Speaker 4: more jobs. That means more people setting up towers, more
• 11:46
Speaker 4: people building that innovation, and also it supercharges the tech world,
• 11:53
Speaker 4: much of the AI world. Winning the race for AI
• 11:56
Speaker 4: having that spectrum available means the private sector they can
• 12:00
Speaker 4: compete for all sorts of different uses for using that spectrum.
• 12:04
Speaker 4: And I'll tell you that was not an easy battle,
• 12:07
Speaker 4: because most of that spectrum that the government holds is
• 12:10
Speaker 4: either the Department of War or the intelligence agencies have
• 12:13
Speaker 4: them and they don't like to give them up. We
• 12:16
Speaker 4: won that fight. That will generate thousands and thousands of
• 12:20
Speaker 4: that will produce thousands and thousands of new jobs. Another
• 12:24
Speaker 4: big win in the Working Family tax cut is air
• 12:28
  Speaker 4: traffic control modernization.
• 12:30
Speaker 1: In that bill we certainly needed, by the way, like
• 12:32
Speaker 1: I as I think people understand how desperately the need
• 12:36
Speaker 1: was for modernization. What the Trump administration inherited. You and
• 12:40
Speaker 1: I both remember the very first night a dear friend
• 12:43
Speaker 1: of ours became the cabinet member in charge of Transportation,
• 12:46
Speaker 1: Secretary John Duffy. The first night he and his family
• 12:51
Speaker 1: went into his building where his office was going to
• 12:53
Speaker 1: be and we had that horrific crash with a helicopter
• 12:56
Speaker 1: that came across and hit that plane at Reagan National
• 12:59
Speaker 1: wife was in the air that night, and it brought
• 13:02
Speaker 1: up even a bigger issue like how does this happen?
• 13:05
Speaker 1: And we realized there was a massive modernization that was
• 13:09
Speaker 1: desperately needed for the safety as more and more planes
• 13:12
Speaker 1: are flying each and every day. You fly every week,
• 13:14
Speaker 1: I fly almost every week as well. I want to
• 13:17
Speaker 1: know I'm safe. I want to know when my family's
• 13:19
Speaker 1: on a plane that they are safe. And this is
• 13:21
Speaker 1: something that's good for every American that flies well.
• 13:24
Speaker 4: And we had two major victories this year in the
• 13:28
Speaker 4: Senate on aviation safety. The first was in the Working
• 13:32
Speaker 4: Family Tax Cut. We invested twelve and a half billion
• 13:36
Speaker 4: dollars in terms of modernizing our air traffic control. Air
• 13:38
Speaker 4: traffic controllers right now in the tower. If you look
• 13:42
Speaker 4: at the technology they've been using, it is literally nineteen
• 13:45
Speaker 4: fifties and nineteen sixties technology. They're using radar, they're using
• 13:49
Speaker 4: little slips of paper, they're using floppy disc. They have
• 13:52
Speaker 4: computers with floppy disc. When I talk to anyone under thirty,
• 13:55
Speaker 4: they don't know what a floppy disk is but saying
• 13:58
Speaker 4: that's the technology that they're using. So there's twelve and
• 14:00
Speaker 4: a half million dollars. They've been the FAA, the Trump
• 14:04
Speaker 4: administration has been ripping up copper wiring that was failing
• 14:08
Speaker 4: and replacing it with fiber. They'd been getting new and
• 14:11
Speaker 4: updated computers, getting new technology, all designed so the air
• 14:15
Speaker 4: traffic controllers can know where the planes are and can
• 14:19
Speaker 4: manage the airspace to avoid collisions. You know, you mentioned
• 14:23
Speaker 4: the horrific accident that happened over d C. Ronald Reagan
• 14:27
Speaker 4: Airport at the end of January. That accident, an American
• 14:31
Speaker 4: Airlines flight was flying from Wichita, Kansas, landing at d C.
• 14:35
Speaker 4: Reagan and as you know, it hit an Army black
• 14:40
Speaker 4: Hawk helicopter. Sixty seven lives perished that instant. As you noted,
• 14:46
Speaker 4: Heidi was literally in the air scheduled to land at Reagan.
• 14:50
Speaker 4: About an hour after that, I was sitting at dinner.
• 14:53
Speaker 4: I was having dinner with Mike Waltz, who was at
• 14:55
Speaker 4: the time President Trump's National security advisor. Now he's the
• 14:58
Speaker 4: Ambassador of the UN in Mike's a good friend of mine,
• 15:01
Speaker 4: and we were at dinner when we both got notified.
• 15:04
Speaker 4: In fact, my body man who you know, he came
• 15:07
Speaker 4: up and thankfully he did this right. He started with
• 15:10
Speaker 4: Heidi's okay, but I need to tell you what just happened,
• 15:12
Speaker 4: and that was a good way to start. I'm glad
• 15:14
Speaker 4: the Heighti's okay started. But if you look at aviation safety,
• 15:19
Speaker 4: a second big victory that we just had on aviation
• 15:22
Speaker 4: safety happened this week, which is in response to what
• 15:26
Speaker 4: happened there, I began drafting legislation that's called the Road
• 15:29
Speaker 4: Or Act, and the Road To Act is designed to
• 15:34
Speaker 4: mandate that all aircraft in the sky use what's called
• 15:37
Speaker 4: ADSB technology ADSB out and ADSB in, and that is
• 15:43
Speaker 4: advanced technology to help the other planes in the sky
• 15:46
Speaker 4: and the other aircraft see each other and to help
• 15:49
Speaker 4: the air traffic controllers have the information on the precise
• 15:53
Speaker 4: location in real time. With radar, there's a delay, whereas
• 15:57
Speaker 4: ADSB gives it to you in real time. Now, why
• 16:00
Speaker 4: is that directly relevant to the crash. Well, the Army
• 16:03
Speaker 4: Blackhawk helicopter had ADSB technology installed.
• 16:08
Speaker 3: They had it turned off.
• 16:09
Speaker 4: Yeah, and so the American Airlines pilot couldn't see the
• 16:14
Speaker 4: Blackhawk helicopter and didn't know it was there until the
• 16:19
Speaker 4: two collided it, and unfortunately, we discovered the Army had
• 16:23
Speaker 4: a policy of leaving ADSB turned off just as a
• 16:26
Speaker 4: routine matter. It was indefensible. And so the Rotor Act
• 16:31
Speaker 4: mandates number one, that the military followed the same rules
• 16:34
Speaker 4: as everybody else. If you're going to be flying, particularly
• 16:36
Speaker 4: through crowded airspace at an airport, use the technology so
• 16:41
Speaker 4: the other aircraft can see where you are and so
• 16:42
Speaker 4: you don't have a collision. And it mandates that everyone
• 16:46
Speaker 4: use ADSB technology in and out in the planes. That legislation.
• 16:52
Speaker 4: You know, it's interesting. We had the Senate just passed
• 16:55
Speaker 4: this week the National Defense Authorization Act that we passed
• 16:59
Speaker 4: that air every year, that is the big military authorization
• 17:03
Speaker 4: that we pass and someone in the House of Representatives
• 17:06
Speaker 4: dropped a provision in in the dark of night that
• 17:09
Speaker 4: would have allowed the Army to keep ADSB turned off. Well,
• 17:14
Speaker 4: this week I passed the Road To Act and repealed
• 17:17
Speaker 4: that provision. And so when the House passes it and
• 17:19
Speaker 4: the President's signs it, which I think will happen in January,
• 17:22
Speaker 4: everyone will be safe for flying.
• 17:24
Speaker 1: There is one thing that I actually think will end
• 17:28
Speaker 1: up being your legacy one day, long, long down the road,
• 17:31
Speaker 1: when you're long and gone and people say, what did
• 17:34
Speaker 1: Ted Cruz do? I actually believe this will be brought
• 17:37
Speaker 1: up for an extremely long amount of time. It is
• 17:40
Speaker 1: going to be transformative to this country, to the young
• 17:42
Speaker 1: people in this country, and it deals with education. It
• 17:45
Speaker 1: is something you've been championing for decades, an idea that
• 17:49
Speaker 1: you love, and now it became reality and you had
• 17:52
Speaker 1: to fight tooth and nail to keep it in the
• 17:54
Speaker 1: big bill. Talk about this victory and what it means
• 17:59
Speaker 1: application wise, especially moving forward.
• 18:02
Speaker 4: Well, look, I agree with you in terms of the
• 18:05
Speaker 4: magnitude of this victory. And let me say, when we
• 18:07
Speaker 4: were in the middle of drafting the Working Families Tax
• 18:09
Speaker 4: Cut in April of this year, we did a retreat
• 18:12
Speaker 4: of all the Senate Republicans and we were talking about
• 18:15
Speaker 4: all the different elements that we wanted the bill, and
• 18:17
Speaker 4: everyone had different priorities, and I stood up kind of
• 18:19
Speaker 4: midway through and I said said, look, there are a
• 18:21
Speaker 4: lot of things in this bill that are incredibly important.
• 18:24
Speaker 4: Cutting taxes, investing and securing the border, rebuilding the military.
• 18:27
Speaker 4: All of that matters a ton. But I said, we
• 18:30
Speaker 4: had to think for a minute about legacy, about what
• 18:34
Speaker 4: will be remembered ten twenty thirty years from now, what
• 18:39
Speaker 4: will be remembered when we're dead and buried. And I said,
• 18:42
Speaker 4: I've got two suggestions, two suggestions that fall into the category.
• 18:47
Speaker 4: The first was school choice and the second was what
• 18:51
Speaker 4: has now become the Trump accounts. Now, both of those
• 18:54
Speaker 4: suggestions I wrote the legislation for, and both of them
• 18:58
Speaker 4: are in the bill. Let's start with school choice. What
• 19:01
Speaker 4: is in the bill. This will kick in. This will
• 19:04
Speaker 4: start kicking in in a year. And what it will
• 19:07
Speaker 4: do is every taxpayer in America can give up to
• 19:11
Speaker 4: seventeen hundred dollars to a scholarship granting organization in the States.
• 19:18
Speaker 4: If you do so, you will get a dollar for
• 19:20
Speaker 4: dollar tax credit. Now, importantly, this is not a deduction,
• 19:24
Speaker 4: it's a credit. What does that mean. It means if
• 19:26
Speaker 4: Ben Ferguson writes a check for one thousand, seven hundred
• 19:29
Speaker 4: dollars to an organization that gives scholarships to kids in Texas,
• 19:34
Speaker 4: you owe oney seven hundred dollars less to Uncle Sam.
• 19:37
Speaker 4: You just give less on your taxes. So it's basically
• 19:40
Speaker 4: free money. From your perspective, what that is going to
• 19:44
Speaker 4: do is it is going to produce tens of billions
• 19:48
Speaker 4: of dollars of scholarships for kids in K through twelve
• 19:52
Speaker 4: education all across the country and ten twenty thirty years
• 19:56
Speaker 4: from now, literally millions of kids who were stuck fuck
• 20:00
Speaker 4: in failing schools, many of them African American kids, Hispanic kids,
• 20:04
Speaker 4: low income kids, who are in schools where there's violence,
• 20:07
Speaker 4: where they're not learning, where they're not able to get
• 20:10
Speaker 4: the education. You're failing and we're failing them. Look, you know,
• 20:15
Speaker 4: if it's a five year old, it's not the five
• 20:17
Speaker 4: year old's fault. If the kindergarten is a crappy kindergarten,
• 20:21
Speaker 4: that's not the kid's fault. That is, at the end
• 20:24
Speaker 4: of the day, school choice is about. I think it's
• 20:27
Speaker 4: the civil rights issue of the twenty first century. I
• 20:29
Speaker 4: think every child deserves access to an excellent education, and
• 20:34
Speaker 4: it shouldn't matter what your race is, what your wealth is,
• 20:37
Speaker 4: where you live. This provision thirty years from now, we're
• 20:42
Speaker 4: going to look back and literally there're gonna be millions
• 20:44
Speaker 4: of kids who would have been failed by the system,
• 20:48
Speaker 4: but instead got a scholarship and ended up being able
• 20:51
Speaker 4: to go to a Catholic school to a Jewish day school,
• 20:55
Speaker 4: to a private school, and to be safe, not to
• 20:58
Speaker 4: be at risk of violence, to learn, to read and learn.
• 21:01
Speaker 4: And if you get education, it opens up every other
• 21:05
Speaker 4: opportunity for the rest of your life. And if you
• 21:07
Speaker 4: don't get an education, you're screwed. And so that is
• 21:13
Speaker 4: in there. Look, I've been fighting for school choice for
• 21:16
Speaker 4: thirty years. The school choice movement is the domestic priority
• 21:21
Speaker 4: I care the most about.
• 21:23
Speaker 2: By the way, let's go back from here. That maybe
• 21:25
  Speaker 2: miss that episode.
• 21:25
Speaker 1: I don't think people understand just how hard democrats, the teachers'
• 21:30
Speaker 1: unions didn't want this to happen, and how hard you
• 21:33
Speaker 1: had to fight to keep it in there, because there
• 21:35
Speaker 1: was many times where we thought it may not make it.
• 21:39
Speaker 4: Look And it was particularly difficult because the Senate Parliamentarian.
• 21:42
Speaker 4: To get anything through the reconciliation process, you have to
• 21:45
Speaker 4: go through the Senate Parliamentarian, and there are Kane rules
• 21:49
Speaker 4: for what is allowed and what is not allowed when
• 21:52
Speaker 4: you're doing reconciliation. Three times the Senate Parliamentarian struck this
• 21:56
Speaker 4: school choice provision, and normally the way that happens, it's
• 22:01
Speaker 4: like litigation where you have both sides the Democrats get
• 22:04
Speaker 4: to argue. So the Democrats argued to the parliamentarian, stripped
• 22:08
Speaker 4: this out and fought tooth and nail. Now, normally it
• 22:12
Speaker 4: is staff. It is staff of senators who go in
• 22:15
Speaker 4: and argue on both sides. It is very unusual for
• 22:18
Speaker 4: a senator to do this. I did this myself. I
• 22:20
Speaker 4: went in and argued to the Parliamentarian and her team directly,
• 22:24
Speaker 4: and we ended up rewriting the provision. We rewrote it
• 22:28
Speaker 4: three times to get it through. When she objected to something,
• 22:32
Speaker 4: we rewrote it to address that, and we got it
• 22:35
Speaker 4: in the second provision that is going to have just
• 22:39
  Speaker 4: just generational.
• 22:41
Speaker 3: Impacts or the Trump accounts, and.
• 22:43
Speaker 1: Starting that I love there called drum accounts. There is
• 22:45
Speaker 1: a great marketing measure. But this started with you, senator,
• 22:49
Speaker 1: and you could easily call this the cruise accounts the
• 22:51
  Speaker 1: same time.
• 22:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, but he's in sixteen hundred Pennsylvania Avenue and so
• 22:56
Speaker 4: he gets to have his name on it. And that's great.
• 22:58
Speaker 4: He signed it in the law and it is historic.
• 23:01
Speaker 4: But I did write the provision and I got to
• 23:04
Speaker 4: say the impact, what's going to happen next year?
• 23:07
Speaker 3: Next year? On July fourth, every child in.
• 23:10
Speaker 4: America is going to have a personal investment account open
• 23:14
Speaker 4: for them. Newborn children will have one thousand dollars automatically
• 23:18
  Speaker 4: seeded into it.
• 23:19
  Speaker 2: This is amazing.
• 23:21
Speaker 4: Parents, families, employers can put up to five thousand dollars
• 23:26
Speaker 4: a year in a tax advantage account and all of
• 23:29
Speaker 4: that will be invested in the S and P five hundred,
• 23:32
Speaker 4: will be invested in a broad based equity index, invested in.
• 23:35
  Speaker 3: The stock market.
• 23:36
Speaker 4: Two massive benefits from this Number One, every child in
• 23:41
Speaker 4: America will get the benefit of compound growth, and that
• 23:46
Speaker 4: is incredibly powerful. A little girl born next year, she
• 23:49
Speaker 4: has one thousand dollars put in it automatically. If her
• 23:53
Speaker 4: parents or family or an employer puts five thousand a year,
• 23:56
Speaker 4: that's invested in the stock market. We grow at the
• 23:58
Speaker 4: historical rate of average seven percent of the S and
• 24:01
Speaker 4: P five hundred. By the time she is eighteen, she
• 24:07
Speaker 4: will have one hundred and seventy thousand dollars in that account.
• 24:13
Speaker 4: And if she keeps investing five thousand a year, by
• 24:17
Speaker 4: the time she's thirty five, she will have seven hundred
• 24:20
Speaker 4: thousand dollars in that account. That's transformation. And we're not
• 24:25
Speaker 4: talking rich kids. We're talking the kids of a single mom,
• 24:28
  Speaker 4: talking everybody.
• 24:30
  Speaker 3: We're talking everybody.
• 24:31
Speaker 4: That's money that she can use to buy a home,
• 24:34
Speaker 4: to start a business, to get an education. I mean,
• 24:37
Speaker 4: that changes her entire life. But secondly, and this is
• 24:40
Speaker 4: the part as a conservative that I'm really excited about.
• 24:43
Speaker 4: We are creating a whole new generation of capitalists, a
• 24:46
Speaker 4: whole new generation of kids. Every kid is going to
• 24:50
Speaker 4: be an owner of the biggest employers in America. And
• 24:53
Speaker 4: so they won't think about companies as big, mean, scary corporations.
• 24:57
Speaker 4: They'll look at their phone and they'll see the app
• 25:00
Speaker 4: and say, look, I own I own one hundred bucks
• 25:03
Speaker 4: of Apple, or or or Boeing or McDonald's. And that
• 25:08
Speaker 4: I think will change the country. And and without exaggeration, Ben,
• 25:12
Speaker 4: I think those two provisions are the most consequential provisions
• 25:17
Speaker 4: of the entire bill. And you know, it was interesting,
• 25:19
Speaker 4: as you know, a couple of weeks ago, I was
• 25:20
Speaker 4: I was at the White House with the President for
• 25:23
Speaker 4: a big press conference on the Trump accounts, and and
• 25:26
Speaker 4: Michael and Susan Dela were there, and the two of
• 25:29
Speaker 4: them are giving six and a quarter billion dollars to
• 25:32
Speaker 4: put to put money in the accounts of millions of
• 25:35
Speaker 4: kids all over the country, and we deliberately wrote this
• 25:39
Speaker 4: so that philanthropists could do that. That was part of
• 25:41
Speaker 4: the design. I wrote the legislation so these accounts would
• 25:44
Speaker 4: be able to accept gifts of philanthropy. And and it
• 25:48
Speaker 4: was interesting at the press conference where where we were
• 25:51
Speaker 4: talking about the effect and transformational effect, and you could
• 25:55
Speaker 4: actually see President Trump. I think he he really got
• 26:00
Speaker 4: the impact of this at the press conference in a
• 26:02
Speaker 4: way I don't think he ever had. And there was
• 26:04
Speaker 4: a reporter who asked him, said, mister President, are these
• 26:07
Speaker 4: Trump Accounts going to be a major part of your legacy?
• 26:10
Speaker 4: And you could kind of see him thinking about that
• 26:12
Speaker 4: and then just like, yes, yes they will. And I
• 26:16
Speaker 4: think that's absolutely right. Look, I mean, in terms of
• 26:19
Speaker 4: my tenure in the Senate, there is nothing I am
• 26:23
Speaker 4: more proud of doing in the Senate in thirteen years
• 26:26
Speaker 4: fighting for Texans than passing the biggest school choice program
• 26:30
Speaker 4: in American history and passing the Trump Accounts into law.
• 26:34
Speaker 4: And both of those they're going to impact not just
• 26:36
Speaker 4: you're in my kids, but our grandkids and their grandkids.
• 26:41
Speaker 4: Those are victories of an historic level. And that's why
• 26:45
Speaker 4: I say we keep We've won victories we've never seen
• 26:48
  Speaker 4: at this level.
• 26:49
Speaker 1: In communities around the world, millions of children like Lucy
• 26:53
Speaker 1: faced the crushing weight of poverty, hunger, illness, and a
• 26:57
Speaker 1: lack of opportunity dim their bright futures. But through Compassion
• 27:02
Speaker 1: International and local churches, everything is changing. Lucy receives nourishing food,
• 27:09
Speaker 1: vital medical care, and the chance to go to school.
• 27:12
Speaker 1: She learns life skills, develops God given talents, and builds
• 27:16
Speaker 1: a loving relationship with Jesus. It's a journey from vulnerability
• 27:20
Speaker 1: to empowerment, and it's sparked literally by your love. This
• 27:24
Speaker 1: transformation echoes far beyond Lucy, impacting her family, the community,
• 27:30
Speaker 1: and shaping the future of her nation. And you can
• 27:32
Speaker 1: make this profound difference right now. So join me in

• 27:42
Speaker 1: life and change the world. That's Compassion dot com to
• 27:46
Speaker 1: learn more center. As we're doing our year review, I
• 27:50
Speaker 1: love getting to say this one.
• 27:51
Speaker 2: We had a big win on the issue of space.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: We're not talking about you finding aliens or anything, but
• 27:56
Speaker 1: we do have an update on space that's near ended
• 27:59
Speaker 1: of your heart. With NASA in Houston, of course, talk
• 28:01
Speaker 1: about the big victory there.
• 28:03
Speaker 4: Well, in the Working Families Tax cut, we invested ten
• 28:07
Speaker 4: billion dollars in NASA and commercial space, and in particular
• 28:12
Speaker 4: in going back to the Moon. And again because that
• 28:15
Speaker 4: falls within the jurisdiction of the Commerce Committee, I wrote
• 28:18
Speaker 4: this provision. And we are in a race to go
• 28:21
Speaker 4: back to the Moon. We're in a race with China.
• 28:23
Speaker 4: China has said publicly they are going to go to
• 28:25
Speaker 4: the Moon by twenty thirty and they're trying to.
• 28:27
  Speaker 3: Get back there.
• 28:28
Speaker 4: And it's also a race not just to get there,
• 28:30
Speaker 4: but to also to build sustained human habitation on the
• 28:35
Speaker 4: surface of the Moon, to begin mining on the surface
• 28:38
Speaker 4: of the Moon. That's the next challenge that we're moving towards.
• 28:41
Speaker 4: China is moving full speed ahead, and we did major
• 28:44
Speaker 4: investments to say America is going to beat China back
• 28:48
Speaker 4: to the Moon. We are going to have sustained human
• 28:51
Speaker 4: habitation on the lunar surface or in CIST lunar orbit.
• 28:55
Speaker 4: And that investment, it is in the bill. It is
• 28:58
Speaker 4: critically important and the objective for us to land on
• 29:01
Speaker 4: the Moon by twenty twenty eight, two years before China.
• 29:04
Speaker 4: With President Trump still in the Oval Office, and that
• 29:08
Speaker 4: investment will make it. And I'll tell you this is
• 29:11
Speaker 4: a point I made if we lose.
• 29:13
Speaker 3: If we were to.
• 29:14
Speaker 4: Lose the race to the Moon, I think the impact
• 29:17
Speaker 4: of seeing the Chinese on the Moon before we could
• 29:20
Speaker 4: get there, I think it would be a bigger blow
• 29:22
Speaker 4: to the country than Sputnik was. Sputnik when the Russians
• 29:25
Speaker 4: launched the first satellite, Sputnik around the Earth, it was
• 29:30
Speaker 4: a massive blow. It started the space race, and I
• 29:34
Speaker 4: think losing the Moon to China would be orders of
• 29:36
Speaker 4: magnitude worse. That investment is in there. It matters, and
• 29:39
Speaker 4: it matters also enormously. They're over fifty thousand high paying
• 29:43
Speaker 4: jobs in Texas that are directly connected to space, so
• 29:47
Speaker 4: it's big for jobs, jobs in the economy.
• 29:51
Speaker 1: Way selfishly, I just think it would be so cool
• 29:54
Speaker 1: for kids' minds to be blown to see NHD people
• 30:00
Speaker 1: talking on the Moon. Just the wonder and the and
• 30:03
Speaker 1: the inspiration that would come from that for an entire generation,
• 30:06
Speaker 1: you know, with everything that's yesh and technology driven, like
• 30:09
Speaker 1: just to have a moment of pause where we're like,
• 30:11
Speaker 1: we went to the Moon and you can see an HD.
• 30:14
Speaker 1: I can't imagine what that does for kids that are dreamers,
• 30:16
Speaker 1: for their futures and their education as well.
• 30:19
Speaker 4: Look, I spend a lot of time at at at
• 30:22
Speaker 4: Johnson Space Center. I spent a lot of time with NASA,
• 30:25
Speaker 4: and like the inspiration that astronauts provide. Now do you
• 30:29
Speaker 4: know the connection that Rice University has to us going
• 30:32
  Speaker 4: to the moon.
• 30:33
  Speaker 3: The first time?
• 30:33
  Speaker 4: No?
• 30:34
  Speaker 2: I do not.
• 30:35
Speaker 4: So it was at Rice University at the at the
• 30:37
Speaker 4: Rice Stadium. You've been to that that football stadium? Uh,
• 30:41
Speaker 4: that that JFK gave the speech where he committed we
• 30:46
Speaker 4: will go to the moon within a decade.
• 30:48
Speaker 3: And and and in fact what he said, he said, Uh, why.
• 30:53
Speaker 4: Does Rice play the University of Texas. They do so
• 30:58
Speaker 4: not because it is easy, but because it is hard.
• 31:02
Speaker 4: And that was that was his explanation for why are
• 31:05
Speaker 4: we going to the moon. We're going to the moon
• 31:06
Speaker 4: for the same reason Rice plays ut not because it easy,
• 31:11
Speaker 4: because it's it's hard and it inspires millions of kids.
• 31:15
Speaker 4: We're going to do that again. But it's also critical.
• 31:17
Speaker 4: Listen there there there are major economic benefits. I've predicted
• 31:21
Speaker 4: for a long time the first trillionaire is going to
• 31:24
Speaker 4: be made in space. That may well, be elon Musk,
• 31:26
Speaker 4: He's already halfway there.
• 31:29
  Speaker 3: I think. I think the.
• 31:30
Speaker 4: Mining that we're going to see on the Moon and
• 31:32
Speaker 4: ultimately on Mars is going to generate enormous economic activity.
• 31:36
Speaker 4: And it also matters from national security and and and
• 31:39
Speaker 4: and from a military perspective. Controlling what is quite literally
• 31:43
Speaker 4: the high ground is really important for keeping America safe.
• 31:47
Speaker 1: Cafe standards. I want to make sure we get this
• 31:48
Speaker 1: in there before the end of the show. Let's talk
• 31:50
Speaker 1: about that victory as well.
• 31:52
Speaker 4: Another provision I wrote in the bill, we zeroed out
• 31:55
Speaker 4: cafe standards. Now, what are the cafe standards?
• 31:58
  Speaker 3: There?
• 31:58
Speaker 4: The rules bid the administration put in place to drive
• 32:02
Speaker 4: up the cost of your car and drive up the
• 32:04
Speaker 4: cost of your truck. And what they did is they
• 32:07
Speaker 4: jacked up the mileage it had to get to what
• 32:10
Speaker 4: were unsustainable levels. And they were doing that because they
• 32:12
Speaker 4: wanted to ban the internal combustion engine. They wanted to
• 32:15
Speaker 4: make it impossible for you to buy a gasoline car.
• 32:18
Speaker 4: They wanted to force you to buy an electric vehicle.
• 32:21
Speaker 1: Now, Alouise, let's be clear, it also put you and
• 32:24
Speaker 1: your family at risk. Yeah, because of having to be
• 32:28
Speaker 1: forced to make the cars lighter. They had to get
• 32:30
Speaker 1: rid of the steel in cars that made them so safe,
• 32:33
Speaker 1: like tanks. And that's the reason why everything's now in
• 32:35
Speaker 1: plastic and the bumpers and you've had a small wreck,
• 32:39
Speaker 1: you see how things just shatter, it's because they're trying
• 32:41
Speaker 1: to meet those standards.
• 32:43
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 32:43
Speaker 4: Look, my first car was a nineteen seventy eight Ford Fairmont.
• 32:47
Speaker 4: It was my grandfather's car that he gave it to me.
• 32:49
Speaker 3: It was we called it the green Bomb.
• 32:51
Speaker 2: When you were younger, I knew it. That was confirmation, right,
• 32:54
  Speaker 2: are you kidding?
• 32:54
Speaker 4: That was the coolest car. We called it the green Bomb,
• 32:57
Speaker 4: and it was a tank. And if you got a
• 32:59
Speaker 4: sixteen year old old boy, all sixteen year old boys
• 33:02
Speaker 4: are idiots. And for the teenagers listening, I apologize, but
• 33:05
Speaker 4: I was there. I was an idiot, And I promise
• 33:08
Speaker 4: you when you get older, you understand it's just.
• 33:09
Speaker 3: Part of life growing up.
• 33:11
Speaker 4: And like putting your kids in a car that is
• 33:14
Speaker 4: big enough that if they hit something like an idiot,
• 33:17
Speaker 4: that they're not going to be badly hurt or killed,
• 33:20
  Speaker 4: that matters.
• 33:20
Speaker 3: We zeroed it out.
• 33:22
Speaker 4: The effect of that is going to be to lower
• 33:24
Speaker 4: the cost of you getting a car or a truck
• 33:27
Speaker 4: lowered it by thousands of dollars. That's another victory that
• 33:30
Speaker 4: is in the bill. And it also is going to
• 33:32
Speaker 4: save life, just as you said, because you'll be able
• 33:35
Speaker 4: to make cars that are safer with more steel and
• 33:37
  Speaker 4: less plastic.
• 33:38
Speaker 2: Yeah, it really is incredible.
• 33:40
Speaker 1: Finally, one last thing I do want to hit, and
• 33:42
Speaker 1: it's important one to end the show.
• 33:43
Speaker 2: Take It Down Act.
• 33:44
Speaker 1: Something that you worked so hard on became reality as
• 33:47
Speaker 1: well this year and it keeps kids safe.
• 33:49
  Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a great victory.
• 33:50
Speaker 4: Look that there is a growing problem with what what's
• 33:53
Speaker 4: called non consensual intimate imagery, and we're talking both real
• 33:57
Speaker 4: world so called revenge porn where you have boyfriend or girlfriend,
• 34:01
Speaker 4: they have an intimate relationship, they take explicit pictures or
• 34:04
Speaker 4: videos of each other, and then they have a breakup
• 34:07
Speaker 4: and they get one of them is ticked off and decides,
• 34:09
Speaker 4: all right, I'm gonna stick it to you and I'm
• 34:10
Speaker 4: going to release this to the world. And it is
• 34:13
Speaker 4: a grotesque violation of privacy. Nobody has a right to
• 34:18
Speaker 4: do that to somebody else. There is secondly, a more
• 34:22
Speaker 4: recent aspect of that, which is deep fakes, and people
• 34:29
Speaker 4: are using AI to create deep fakes where they take
• 34:32
Speaker 4: pictures of real people and they use AI to make
• 34:35
Speaker 4: it appear that they're naked or inexplicit and sexual situations.
• 34:39
Speaker 4: More than ninety five percent of the victims of this
• 34:42
Speaker 4: are women or teenage girls. And so I drafted a
• 34:47
Speaker 4: bill that's called the Take It Down Act. That number
• 34:49
Speaker 4: one makes it a crime, makes it a felony to
• 34:52
Speaker 4: post non consensual intimate imagery, either real pictures or fake pictures.
• 34:58
Speaker 4: And secondly, it gives you the right, if God forbid,
• 35:01
Speaker 4: you're the victim of this, any tech platform that is
• 35:04
Speaker 4: displaying that content, you have a federal statutory right to
• 35:08
Speaker 4: demand they take it down, and they have to take
• 35:11
Speaker 4: it down immediately. And we passed that through the Senate.
• 35:14
Speaker 4: We passed that through the House. The First Lady, Milania Trump,
• 35:17
Speaker 4: was a big champion. She joined with me, and I
• 35:20
Speaker 4: was in the Rose Garden right next to the President
• 35:23
Speaker 4: and right next to the First Lady when he signed
• 35:25
Speaker 4: that legislation. Protecting kids, protecting teenage girls, teenage boys, women,
• 35:30
Speaker 4: protecting everyone, and also standing up to the abuse of
• 35:35
Speaker 4: AI creating deep fakes and victimizing people.
• 35:39
  Speaker 2: It's so important.
• 35:40
Speaker 1: If you've ever known and I know a family lost
• 35:42
Speaker 1: to a child because this. They took their own life
• 35:45
Speaker 1: because of the shame and they were being bullied. It
• 35:48
Speaker 1: was online and it was actually not even them. It
• 35:50
Speaker 1: was a fake picture, but everyone thought it was this person.
• 35:54
Speaker 1: After you meet with those families, you've done it. You
• 35:56
Speaker 1: have a heart for them. This is going to save
• 35:58
Speaker 1: lives as well. I want to say it again, do
• 36:01
Speaker 1: not forget Download Verdict with Ted Cruz wherever you get
