- 0:29Speaker 1: All right, folks, you're listening to Table Talk here at
- 0:31Speaker 1: the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly
- 0:34Speaker 1: Philly sports podcast show in the world.
- 0:36Speaker 2: That's right over twelve and a half years strong.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I got a great discussion coming your way on Table
- 0:40Speaker 1: Talk this week as we dive into this Philadelphia Flyers
- 0:43Speaker 1: season and what we may expect from them in the future.
- 0:46Speaker 2: I'm Jeff Warren.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I'm here with my guests this week to again talk
- 0:50Speaker 1: about the Flyers and really get into some of the.
- 0:53Speaker 2: Details what's going on with this team.
- 0:55Speaker 1: He is from Brotherlypuck dot Com the Brotherly pod as well.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You can listen to out there.
- 1:01Speaker 1: We've got our good friend Daniel esh Daniel, how you doing.
- 1:04Speaker 2: My friend?
- 1:05Speaker 3: Good? Good, good to be back. Always good to talk
- 1:08Speaker 3: hockey with someone else.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Absolutely, it's and it's a fun season too still. I
- 1:12Speaker 1: mean the last time we talked, it was the same
- 1:15Speaker 1: type of feeling. It was like, Wow, this team has
- 1:18Speaker 1: been fun to watch. Not perfect by any stretch of
- 1:21Speaker 1: the imagination, but it has been fun. And I guess
- 1:24Speaker 1: to start off the discussion, I really want to get
- 1:27Speaker 1: your take Daniel on the Tyson Forster injury and really
- 1:31Speaker 1: kind of what we have seen in terms of the
- 1:33Speaker 1: fallout from that. Of course he's going to be out
- 1:36Speaker 1: months here more at this point, but in terms of
- 1:40Speaker 1: what we've seen from Rick Tockett, how he's tried to
- 1:44Speaker 1: essentially replace that productivity, I say quote replace that productivity.
- 1:49Speaker 2: I'm wondering what your.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Thoughts are on how this has or has not worked
- 1:54Speaker 1: out thus far. I mean, please feel free to go
- 1:56Speaker 1: into detail about it. I'd love to get your take here.
- 1:58Speaker 2: On this man.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Yeah, you know, it's it's an unfortunate one. That's one
- 2:03Speaker 3: of those guys you just didn't want to lose this
- 2:04Speaker 3: year and see if he can really grow beyond the
- 2:07Speaker 3: confines that John Tortorella had him in. Is that that
- 2:10Speaker 3: that two way guy? You know? I I when when
- 2:15Speaker 3: we found out he was done, which is pretty quick afterwards,
- 2:18Speaker 3: they called up Carl Grunstrom. Yeah you know, I mean,
- 2:24Speaker 3: Barkie's here now, but that's because Devorak went, who is
- 2:28Speaker 3: back already. So you know, I just if you're losing
- 2:31Speaker 3: a guy like this long term, you would want to
- 2:33Speaker 3: see Barkie or Bump or one of these younger guys
- 2:36Speaker 3: come up and kind of be coronated overnight. Right and
- 2:38Speaker 3: become a star immediately, and that didn't happen yet Hopefully
- 2:42Speaker 3: as the season goes on here they they kind of
- 2:44Speaker 3: transition more towards that role. And it was just kind
- 2:46Speaker 3: of the immediate, like knee jerk reaction to pull up
- 2:49Speaker 3: a reliable guy instead of the future. But now that
- 2:52Speaker 3: we know that he's done, you know, he just had
- 2:55Speaker 3: surgery last week or something, which hey, glad they found
- 2:57Speaker 3: that out based on based on the fly your staff
- 3:00Speaker 3: medical wise the late six months and then get surgery
- 3:03Speaker 3: and then hopefully this you know, he'll be back for
- 3:07Speaker 3: next year. It sounds like he's done for the year,
- 3:08Speaker 3: uless a deep playoff run is made, so it's an
- 3:11Speaker 3: unfortunate loss. I haven't been thrilled to the way they've
- 3:13Speaker 3: tried to replace him yet, but hopefully as the season
- 3:16Speaker 3: goes on.
- 3:16Speaker 1: That's what I was wondering, if you want to feel
- 3:18Speaker 1: free to get into that too, because you know, we've
- 3:20Speaker 1: seen you know, we've seen different talent trying to quote
- 3:23Speaker 1: take over that role, and it's just it's it's almost
- 3:27Speaker 1: impossible to replicate, of course, but do you think Rick
- 3:30Speaker 1: Taka could be doing anything.
- 3:32Speaker 2: Different here at this point? Would you like to see
- 3:34Speaker 2: him do anything different.
- 3:36Speaker 3: I I think there's only so much you can do
- 3:39Speaker 3: with this current group. And that's kind of the problem
- 3:43Speaker 3: is you have quantity, but not necessarily quality of wingers, right,
- 3:46Speaker 3: They're all just kind of at the same level, right,
- 3:49Speaker 3: And this was this was one of the John Torderella
- 3:51Speaker 3: problems of like mixing lines. Right, every game was something
- 3:55Speaker 3: new because they were so desperate to try and spark something, right,
- 3:58Speaker 3: But how many times can you mix these all these
- 4:01Speaker 3: guys have played with each other already, you know. It's
- 4:03Speaker 3: why someone like Denver Barkie comes in in his first
- 4:06Speaker 3: game and has to assist, right, because he's fresh and
- 4:08Speaker 3: new and different, right, and they can get a little
- 4:09Speaker 3: bit of a vibe there, And which is why I
- 4:12Speaker 3: was disappointed that we didn't see an Alex Bump call
- 4:14Speaker 3: up or an immediate Barquie call up, or something along
- 4:16Speaker 3: those lines. Somebody that could be a little fresher that
- 4:19Speaker 3: could really kind of replace Forrester, or that can help
- 4:21Speaker 3: out Zegris, that can help carry some of this stuff.
- 4:22Speaker 3: So you know, again, hopefully it's coming in time, but
- 4:25Speaker 3: immediately here I was not thrilled of the way they've
- 4:27Speaker 3: tried to rebound without wars.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah, I think you and I are on the same
- 4:31Speaker 1: wavelength right there, and again it's almost impossible to replicate it,
- 4:36Speaker 1: but still disappointing aspects of what Rick Tocket has done.
- 4:40Speaker 1: We're going to get to Rick Tocket, you know, towards
- 4:42Speaker 1: the end of our discussion, We're certainly going to get
- 4:44Speaker 1: to him and what he has meant to this team
- 4:47Speaker 1: in terms of him being the head coach. Is very
- 4:51Speaker 1: early tenure here in Philadelphia. But let's move on here
- 4:55Speaker 1: because Flyers Nation Daniel, you know, has absolutely loved what
- 4:59Speaker 1: one man in particular, and Trevor Zegres has brought to
- 5:03Speaker 1: the team. I mean, he continues to be the driving
- 5:06Speaker 1: force of this Flyers offense. And he's not He's not
- 5:10Speaker 1: one sort of one trick pony type of player out there.
- 5:14Speaker 1: His passing game has been pretty slick. He can beat
- 5:18Speaker 1: goalies one on one. So I'm wondering, when you're watching
- 5:22Speaker 1: Trevor Zegress out there, what kind of value do you
- 5:24Speaker 1: think he's brought to the team during his short tenure
- 5:27Speaker 1: as a Flyer and what should our expectation be for
- 5:30Speaker 1: him in the future this season and beyond here at.
- 5:33Speaker 3: This point, Yeah, we went from a guy that you know,
- 5:37Speaker 3: had thirty points, an injury prone the last couple of years.
- 5:40Speaker 3: Man can he bounce back to all of a sudden
- 5:42Speaker 3: it's man, can he maintain eighty five points throughout the year?
- 5:46Speaker 3: It's it's hard to overstate how good.
- 5:49Speaker 2: He has been. Yes thus far.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Yes, he's just the driving force, leads the team in points,
- 5:54Speaker 3: leads the team in goals by a hefty margin at
- 5:56Speaker 3: this point. Right, He's so good And can he keep
- 6:00Speaker 3: it going? I sure hope. So, you know, he seems
- 6:03Speaker 3: to be playing well with not the best line mates
- 6:06Speaker 3: on paper, so hey, if he can make it work,
- 6:09Speaker 3: he can make it work. He's very, very good and
- 6:13Speaker 3: glad to see you know, the four finally added somebody
- 6:16Speaker 3: of substance. And yeah, he was more of a rehab
- 6:18Speaker 3: project at the time, as I was alluding to, but
- 6:20Speaker 3: it paid off absolutely for what a second round pick
- 6:23Speaker 3: and Ryan Paling.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Yes, And here's the thing, like, the rehab projects usually
- 6:28Speaker 1: don't seem to go that well here in Philadelphia, they
- 6:32Speaker 1: usually don't. I mean, the percentage is really really low
- 6:36Speaker 1: in terms of these rehab projects really turning out to
- 6:39Speaker 1: be something special. And I think that's what we're essentially seeing.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I mean, we are seeing it in front of our eyes,
- 6:45Speaker 1: I hope, and it's it's you know what it is.
- 6:47Speaker 1: It's that flyers are going to pull the rug out
- 6:50Speaker 1: from under you mentality I think we've all had. I
- 6:52Speaker 1: don't want this to be a blip on the radar,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you know, And I don't want it to be Trevor
- 6:57Speaker 1: Zegres's fooling all of us and he's just getting lucky
- 7:00Speaker 1: or something. I don't think that's what it is. But
- 7:03Speaker 1: I do wonder, like for the future, what this really
- 7:06Speaker 1: means for the rebuild, because we're gonna we're gonna get into,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you know, the fact that Danny Brier probably wants to
- 7:11Speaker 1: bring in some uh, you know, top of the lineup
- 7:14Speaker 1: type of acquisition at some point down the road. But
- 7:17Speaker 1: Trevor Segress, I think is going to be a critical
- 7:19Speaker 1: component of this rebuild as they're moving forward here.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yeah, he turns twenty five in March, I believe, so yeah,
- 7:26Speaker 3: on the young side, and obviously depending RFA, so he'll
- 7:29Speaker 3: be due a contract and my guess is he's not
- 7:31Speaker 3: gonna sign anytime soon. He's gonna wait and let that
- 7:33Speaker 3: money build up. Oh, yeah, and he can do this
- 7:35Speaker 3: for the rest of the year. Yeah, but uh yeah,
- 7:37Speaker 3: I mean he's the guy that you want to build
- 7:39Speaker 3: around now. You know, he's at that age where he
- 7:42Speaker 3: still got some mileage in him. He's not like the
- 7:44Speaker 3: Connecting's and Sandheims of the world, which are now pushing
- 7:46Speaker 3: twenty nine to thirty. You know, he's got he buys
- 7:48Speaker 3: you some years, brings the age down, can work with
- 7:51Speaker 3: some of these other guys that are in the same
- 7:52Speaker 3: age range. So yeah, he's a core piece for sure
- 7:55Speaker 3: moving forward, especially if you can keep doing this.
- 7:57Speaker 2: Uh, it's amazing. It's amazing.
- 7:59Speaker 1: This is actually worked out the way that it really
- 8:01Speaker 1: has to. And you know, there's another core individual within
- 8:05Speaker 1: this Flyers organization that you know we're watching this year
- 8:09Speaker 1: kind of scratching our heads, and that's Matt ve Muchkov.
- 8:13Speaker 1: But what I think is interesting is that Bobby Brink
- 8:17Speaker 1: in particular and really want to focus on him, has
- 8:20Speaker 1: had a very solid week this past week with his
- 8:23Speaker 1: new line mates in Matt bay Muchkov and Noah Kates.
- 8:26Speaker 1: And if I'm not mistaken, Bobby Brink could be looking
- 8:29Speaker 1: at a career high this year and goals this season.
- 8:32Speaker 1: If he continues to play well, continues to keep developing
- 8:35Speaker 1: and doing what he's doing on the ice. Daniel, what
- 8:38Speaker 1: have you seen from Bobby Brink that we really should
- 8:41Speaker 1: be looking at more in terms of his development here
- 8:43Speaker 1: this season?
- 8:45Speaker 3: Yeah, Brink is a really interesting cat in the grand
- 8:47Speaker 3: stream of where this team is because he's one third
- 8:50Speaker 3: of that like new legion of Doom, right the Noah
- 8:53Speaker 3: Kates and Tyson Forester and Brink. He's been a part
- 8:55Speaker 3: of that line for like two years now, so he's
- 8:57Speaker 3: a critical piece, but he's always kind of limited in
- 8:59Speaker 3: more of the defense side, when in reality he's never
- 9:01Speaker 3: really been tested at the producing offense at the NHL level.
- 9:06Speaker 3: So if he can continue to trend in this direction,
- 9:09Speaker 3: you know now that he's gotten his feet went of
- 9:10Speaker 3: the NHL and he knows what he's doing, you know,
- 9:13Speaker 3: sooner or later they're gonna have to call him and
- 9:14Speaker 3: be the top guy this forward group, because that seems
- 9:16Speaker 3: to be what they're doing, a cycling through everybody slowly
- 9:18Speaker 3: but surely. So if he can keep doing this, it's great.
- 9:21Speaker 3: He is also a pending RFA. You know, if they
- 9:24Speaker 3: go down the H and go down the trade rabit,
- 9:27Speaker 3: I would be curious to see if he would be
- 9:28Speaker 3: one of them. But overall, brink it continues to play well,
- 9:31Speaker 3: just overall, like you can't really ask much more from
- 9:34Speaker 3: a third line winger most of the time from what
- 9:36Speaker 3: he's doing there and what second on third and on
- 9:38Speaker 3: the team and goals right now with nine for a
- 9:41Speaker 3: three way tie for second with ten. So yeah, continues
- 9:44Speaker 3: to be a very good, very overall solid pair of hands.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Here for the yeah absolutely again, folks, we're talking to
- 9:49Speaker 1: Daniel esh from Brotherlypuck dot com. Check out the podcast

- 10:09Speaker 3: fan at Brotherly Puck, at Brotherly Underscore Pod is where

- 10:41Speaker 1: mister Jeff Warren, give us a follow over there. All right, folks,
- 10:44Speaker 1: we are going to take a quick break. When we
- 10:47Speaker 1: come back, lots more Flyers talk coming your way. All right,
- 10:51Speaker 1: we are here our good friend Daniel esh Dan the
- 10:55Speaker 1: fly Era fan as he has been known on Twitter
- 10:58Speaker 1: for what seems to be like decades at this point. Yes,
- 11:02Speaker 1: absolutely great work they're doing over at Brotherlypuck dot com.
- 11:08Speaker 1: And as we're moving along with the discussion here, Daniel,
- 11:11Speaker 1: I mean what stinks because of what he has done
- 11:14Speaker 1: thus far in front of the net is the fact
- 11:17Speaker 1: that Dan Dan Vladar has got has gotten the injury
- 11:21Speaker 1: bug here, and it's it's really unfortunate for this goalie situation.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Now he has an upper body injury, which again it
- 11:28Speaker 1: stinks considering how well he has played in front of
- 11:31Speaker 1: the net this season. Alexi Kolosov has now been called
- 11:35Speaker 1: up from the Phantoms. So as I'm looking at Sam Erson,
- 11:40Speaker 1: you know, looking at what some of these backup goalies
- 11:43Speaker 1: may end up giving this team. There certainly is concern
- 11:46Speaker 1: because Dan Vladar has absolutely surprised us throughout this season
- 11:49Speaker 1: in terms of how he's been playing the goalie position.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Should US fans be concerned with this injury and how
- 11:55Speaker 1: it affects this overall goalie situation, George tore me in
- 11:58Speaker 1: even long term?
- 11:59Speaker 2: What are your thoughts?
- 12:00Speaker 3: Yeah, it seems like they avoided anything long term? Yeahfully,
- 12:04Speaker 3: but man, you know, when you have this kind of
- 12:08Speaker 3: unicorn that comes out of nowhere and plays really well,
- 12:11Speaker 3: you know, I believe the last time I was on
- 12:12Speaker 3: was the first few games in the season. We talked
- 12:14Speaker 3: about can he keep up this pace because of his
- 12:16Speaker 3: small sample size per season?
- 12:18Speaker 1: Right?
- 12:18Speaker 3: And whether I believe this was a contact injury got
- 12:21Speaker 3: run into and that's what happened here versus a play injury.
- 12:25Speaker 3: But when you take this guy away and you're left
- 12:29Speaker 3: with Sam Erson, who has not been great, No, Alexei Kolosov,
- 12:32Speaker 3: who is a complete joker card of his own, you
- 12:38Speaker 3: know it's not great. Kolosov has been much better in
- 12:42Speaker 3: the h all this year. I've been referring to him
- 12:44Speaker 3: as illiber as Galov because he allows those softies every
- 12:47Speaker 3: now and again that just shouldn't be happening, where your
- 12:49Speaker 3: local beer leaguer would be like, well you allow that goal.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Yeah, but.
- 12:54Speaker 3: So hopefully, you know, we don't have to see a
- 12:56Speaker 3: whole lot of him. But overall, it has been much
- 13:00Speaker 3: better than anybody anticipated. It has been going on for
- 13:03Speaker 3: what you're an halfway point in the season already, So yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 3: hopefully it's not long termin he's back and everything's good
- 13:09Speaker 3: and you can pick right back up and this won't
- 13:10Speaker 3: be a lingering problem. But yeah, but without Vladar, it's
- 13:13Speaker 3: it's not a great picture with boltending in net because
- 13:16Speaker 3: Ersen just can't seem to get it together exactly.
- 13:18Speaker 1: And I don't want this to be some sort of
- 13:20Speaker 1: situation for this team. Again, Like we talk a lot
- 13:23Speaker 1: on this podcast platform about sports psychology and what certain
- 13:27Speaker 1: injuries or certain adverse relationships or even positive relationships, how
- 13:32Speaker 1: it can affect folks who are professional athletes playing on
- 13:36Speaker 1: the ice, playing on the court, playing on the field,
- 13:38Speaker 1: how that can affect the overall group of folks. And
- 13:41Speaker 1: with this Vladar injury, I just don't want it. Try
- 13:44Speaker 1: not that it's going to but I just don't want
- 13:46Speaker 1: it trickling down to some of these younger guys who
- 13:49Speaker 1: are really trying to still find their place, still trying
- 13:52Speaker 1: to develop. It really stinks in terms of possibly hindering
- 13:55Speaker 1: this team with regard to that in my opinion.
- 13:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you take away the rock of this
- 14:01Speaker 3: team and then they're left to figure out what left.
- 14:03Speaker 3: And you know, this defense is young, this Sward group
- 14:05Speaker 3: is still relatively young. Yeah, you know, without them and
- 14:09Speaker 3: you allow a few softies, you know, does it does
- 14:10Speaker 3: it start messing with the psyche and whatnot?
- 14:12Speaker 2: Exactly?
- 14:13Speaker 3: Hopefully not. Hopefully you know what, R comes back and
- 14:15Speaker 3: is fine and everything you can continue on as as
- 14:18Speaker 3: it has been.
- 14:19Speaker 2: But yeah, it is.
- 14:19Speaker 3: It's a valid point to look forward here over the
- 14:22Speaker 3: next step week. The Defenders are really going to need
- 14:24Speaker 3: to step up. I mean, and certainly they've They've surprised
- 14:26Speaker 3: us a lot throughout the course of this season, for sure,
- 14:29Speaker 3: and they need to still keep.
- 14:31Speaker 1: That up for sure with Vodar being out. But as
- 14:34Speaker 1: we're moving along with this conversation here, Daniel, you know,
- 14:37Speaker 1: we know that Danny Brier wants to add some more
- 14:42Speaker 1: top of the line up talent down the road. I
- 14:45Speaker 1: mean he's essentially said so, and I have a feeling
- 14:48Speaker 1: that we may see some kind of major acquisition before
- 14:51Speaker 1: the trade deadline. It's being talked about in Flyer circles
- 14:54Speaker 1: here and there. How do you see this potentially taking shape?
- 14:57Speaker 1: I know you mentioned Bobby Brink before, is possibly a
- 15:01Speaker 1: piece that could be potentially moved at some point? And
- 15:05Speaker 1: what do you think the Flyers might actually have to
- 15:08Speaker 1: give up in terms of players or future assets to
- 15:10Speaker 1: really take this rebuild to the next level as we're
- 15:13Speaker 1: looking at twenty twenty six right down the road.
- 15:16Speaker 3: Here, Yeah, a Brier is gonna have to do something
- 15:19Speaker 3: this summer. And you know, we don't know who that
- 15:21Speaker 3: is anymore. Coinhues is now off the table and on
- 15:23Speaker 3: the trade that they couldn't have afforded anyway. You know,
- 15:26Speaker 3: they have enough firepower to make a big trader. Two.
- 15:31Speaker 3: You've got draft picks. You got two first rounders next year.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I think you got two third rounders next year as well.
- 15:36Speaker 3: You got a main roster full of capable human beings
- 15:39Speaker 3: that just need a boost from the outside. Yep, there's
- 15:42Speaker 3: a bundance of wingers. Got an HL team full of
- 15:44Speaker 3: prospects that you're probably never going to overly utilize on.
- 15:47Speaker 3: You can make a big trader two. Yeah, you know,
- 15:50Speaker 3: I don't know who that is right now. You know,
- 15:52Speaker 3: the rumor mill hasn't been great, the free agent pool
- 15:54Speaker 3: dried up in twenty six and all this stuff that.
- 15:57Speaker 3: It's just it's a real bad time to want to
- 15:59Speaker 3: work up the courage to go and make a trade
- 16:01Speaker 3: just because there hasn't been that overwhelming target, right you know.
- 16:05Speaker 3: The Quinn Hughes rumors are there for a little while,
- 16:07Speaker 3: but Minnesota paid through the nose to acquire him, and
- 16:10Speaker 3: the Flyers just could not have matched that deal the
- 16:13Speaker 3: way that Minnesota set that deal up. They don't have
- 16:16Speaker 3: a Marco Rossi. They don't really have a z bullyam.
- 16:19Speaker 3: I mean maybe Andre if you want to be generous.
- 16:22Speaker 3: But it was hard to match. So we'll see. But
- 16:26Speaker 3: this is the year, this is the summer that this
- 16:28Speaker 3: breer needs to do something. Whether it be the deadline
- 16:31Speaker 3: of the offseason, whatever, whatever happens this season, make the playoffs,
- 16:35Speaker 3: miss the playoffs, eliminated in the first round, whatever, it
- 16:37Speaker 3: does not matter. You need to go into the summer
- 16:39Speaker 3: and you need to take it seriously, this is the
- 16:41Speaker 3: time to add, this is the time to take a
- 16:43Speaker 3: step forward. You got lucky with Ziegers last year as
- 16:46Speaker 3: or rehab project. You know you need another get rid
- 16:50Speaker 3: of some of these wingers at a center. See what
- 16:52Speaker 3: you've got and try and build like this. This is
- 16:54Speaker 3: the kind of thing that really really needs to happen.
- 16:57Speaker 3: So hopefully Brier can work up the courage to get
- 16:59Speaker 3: it done.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting you mentioned the center position because I
- 17:02Speaker 1: think initially we all thought that I would have thought
- 17:04Speaker 1: the flyers would have thought that trevor' segress was going
- 17:06Speaker 1: to be just coming in as like center position. I think,
- 17:09Speaker 1: you know, maybe after three games, basically three or four games,
- 17:14Speaker 1: Rick talk is like, no, no, no, we're keeping him out, keeping.
- 17:17Speaker 2: Him out there.
- 17:18Speaker 1: Really, I mean, we all thought Zegres was going to
- 17:20Speaker 1: be that center perhaps of the future in terms of
- 17:23Speaker 1: the rehab project ended up going a different way. I'm
- 17:25Speaker 1: still happy, don't get me wrong. I'm still happy that
- 17:28Speaker 1: it's worked out the way that it has. But yeah, great,
- 17:31Speaker 1: great points, for sure, great points for sure. Look, Dan,
- 17:34Speaker 1: before I let you go, my friend, we got to
- 17:36Speaker 1: talk about Rick Tocket because a lot of us have
- 17:38Speaker 1: been talking about him during this first year as Flyers
- 17:43Speaker 1: head coach, trying to analyze him. His decision making is
- 17:46Speaker 1: in game decision making as well.
- 17:49Speaker 2: He's been good.
- 17:50Speaker 1: He's also made some really questionable decisions as well from
- 17:54Speaker 1: time to time.
- 17:55Speaker 2: It's been a roller coaster with him so far.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Is Rick Tocket the right coach at this time for
- 18:01Speaker 1: this Flyers team? I know that's a very like pointed question,
- 18:04Speaker 1: but like if you've had time to like think about that, like,
- 18:07Speaker 1: do you think he is the right coach at this
- 18:09Speaker 1: time for this Flyers team?
- 18:12Speaker 3: I the answer is probably not. Okay, Okay, you know,
- 18:19Speaker 3: in a lot of ways, my I've been referring to
- 18:21Speaker 3: him as John Tortorella with a happy face, right, it
- 18:23Speaker 3: seems to be you know, stylistically it's very similar. Right,
- 18:27Speaker 3: It's a boring game. It's very defense, which is fine,
- 18:30Speaker 3: you can win that way. What you got to have
- 18:34Speaker 3: those electric players really kind of step up. With the
- 18:37Speaker 3: exception of Zegris, that hasn't happened, and they haven't really
- 18:40Speaker 3: put guys in positions to do that, especially espeactly Mitchoff
- 18:46Speaker 3: being the most notable guy we're gonna play him for,
- 18:48Speaker 3: you know, twelve minutes a night, just above what Nick
- 18:50Speaker 3: de Laurier is getting. Its yea, you know they're making
- 18:54Speaker 3: it work. Is this a new coach, Bump? I don't
- 18:57Speaker 3: even know if you can call it that. Okay, it's
- 18:59Speaker 3: kind of getting a lock key. You know, how many
- 19:02Speaker 3: games this year have been a true dominant win from
- 19:05Speaker 3: the Flyers. I can think of two. I believe it
- 19:08Speaker 3: was against the Savers, right, you know, is it you're
- 19:13Speaker 3: winning these games, You're getting lucky, You're getting the overtime
- 19:15Speaker 3: in the shootout and all this stuff that historically they
- 19:18Speaker 3: haven't been very good at. It's not nothing, but just
- 19:21Speaker 3: being good in a shootout help you come playoff time answers. Now,
- 19:27Speaker 3: it's luck, it's great, it's gonna look good on paper.
- 19:30Speaker 3: But is he doing the right thing? Is this the
- 19:33Speaker 3: guy for right now? I just don't think so. And
- 19:37Speaker 3: you know, we'll see the NFL and you know it's
- 19:41Speaker 3: not entirely Tackett's fault. I mean, it's Danny Brayer's job
- 19:44Speaker 3: to call up Alex Bump, right, the one that has
- 19:46Speaker 3: to make the decisions to give Taka the best chance
- 19:48Speaker 3: to succeed. But it's Tacket's job to play, you know,
- 19:51Speaker 3: madd via Mitchikov a reasonable amount of ice time every
- 19:53Speaker 3: night not doing so. I have not been thrilled with
- 19:57Speaker 3: this guy yet. It's just it's been too much of
- 20:00Speaker 3: the same for a team that just desperately needs a
- 20:02Speaker 3: nice one to eighty, nice fresh, offensively dynamic forward thinking,
- 20:07Speaker 3: almost like Peter lovat You know, you can bring in
- 20:10Speaker 3: twenty tend and whatever it was Peter Loviolette that can
- 20:12Speaker 3: come in and do this thing that would be significantly better.
- 20:15Speaker 3: I think that's what this team needs, is just shot
- 20:16Speaker 3: in the arm of some jam. Yes, I'm back in
- 20:18Speaker 3: the day versus this this very boring. I mean, they're
- 20:21Speaker 3: like two hundred and fifty shots on goal Blobe Carolina.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I know, I don't like something just insane number that
- 20:27Speaker 3: shouldn't be like feasible. So it's working now if you're
- 20:32Speaker 3: looking at just acquiring points and wins. But if you
- 20:36Speaker 3: want to actually build something sustainable, build a playoff caliber team,
- 20:39Speaker 3: I'm not.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Sure this is the guy to do it at the point.
- 20:42Speaker 1: All right, well that's going to do it for our
