- 0:00Speaker 1: All right, guys, here we are our last break of
- 0:02Speaker 1: the day, and you know, it's been a good day.
- 0:07Speaker 1: It's been a good day. So Steve, you have some
- 0:11Speaker 1: clothing for us.
- 0:13Speaker 2: You know. I was thinking of something the other day.
- 0:18Speaker 2: I heard something online and it really affected me profoundly
- 0:25Speaker 2: and it made me sit down and ponder and really
- 0:28Speaker 2: think of the goodness of God and all that God
- 0:31Speaker 2: has done for me. And I think about my life,
- 0:37Speaker 2: my legacy, that when my life is over, what I
- 0:40Speaker 2: would like to be said about me. And I discovered
- 0:43Speaker 2: it's not about the comedy. It's not about the TV shows,
- 0:48Speaker 2: the awards, none of that. It's about much deeper. It's
- 0:52Speaker 2: really about what I'm hoping to accomplish from here on out.
- 0:57Speaker 2: And it's not about my shows or anything like that.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It's about the legacy. It's about trying to make an
- 1:07Speaker 2: imprint in the world in which I live in. And
- 1:11Speaker 2: I'm not going to change the world. I'm not that
- 1:14Speaker 2: egotistical that one man changes the world, because it has
- 1:17Speaker 2: to be a collective effort. It's a huge world. It's
- 1:20Speaker 2: eight billion people here. There's no one person that can
- 1:23Speaker 2: change the entire world. Jesus came to change and to save,
- 1:30Speaker 2: and he was sped upon and hung on the cross,
- 1:34Speaker 2: but he had a lasting effect though, Oh my goodness
- 1:37Speaker 2: that thirty three years he was here was, Oh my goodness,
- 1:41Speaker 2: what an impact he had. Nah, I'm not Christ, let's
- 1:45Speaker 2: be clear about that. Nobody is. But I do want
- 1:49Speaker 2: to have an impact. And I was listening to somebody
- 1:53Speaker 2: online and they said, what makes this world great is
- 2:03Speaker 2: is that when old men plant trees the shade in
- 2:11Speaker 2: which they will never sit in, good people do things
- 2:16Speaker 2: for other people. And I'm thinking about my life that
- 2:20Speaker 2: I'm actually in the process of planting trees and the
- 2:26Speaker 2: shade of which I will never sit in. I won't
- 2:30Speaker 2: get to sit under some of these trees that I'm planting,
- 2:34Speaker 2: but I want to plant them because I want to
- 2:36Speaker 2: do something for somebody coming behind me, for my grandchildren,
- 2:43Speaker 2: for other people's young men, for other young people's children.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And that's why I've gotten to in my life. And
- 2:53Speaker 2: that thing that I saw online, it affected me so profoundly. Man,
- 2:58Speaker 2: and the lady said, that's it, that's the she said.
- 3:01Speaker 2: A society grows great when old men plant trees in
- 3:05Speaker 2: the shade in which they know they will never sit in.
- 3:08Speaker 2: That's deep, man, that you can get to that point. Now,
- 3:12Speaker 2: I understand when you're younger that that's not the mission,
- 3:17Speaker 2: because you got to first get yourself under a tree somewhere.
- 3:21Speaker 2: You understand, the whole thing in life is for somebody
- 3:24Speaker 2: to create some shade for themselves. No nobody wants to
- 3:28Speaker 2: live under the blair of the sun continuously, So you
- 3:32Speaker 2: have to do that. When you're younger, you're trying to
- 3:36Speaker 2: You're trying to create a tree, man, that you can
- 3:39Speaker 2: get under the shade. You know, you want to build
- 3:41Speaker 2: a retirement plan for yourself so you can get under
- 3:43Speaker 2: the shade. But when that's done, what you're gonna do.
- 3:48Speaker 2: And I'm at that phase of my life, man, well, hoh,
- 3:50Speaker 2: God continues to give me grace and mercy that will
- 3:53Speaker 2: allow me to act the way I've been acting and
- 3:56Speaker 2: to be able to shine the way I've been shining.
- 4:00Speaker 2: And I want to keep planting trees, of which under
- 4:03Speaker 2: the shade I know I will never sit, but that
- 4:07Speaker 2: somebody after me can enjoy the shade of that tree.
- 4:11Speaker 2: That's just being a good person, man, And how good
- 4:15Speaker 2: are you going to be? I'm just asking the question
- 4:17Speaker 2: because we all have the ability to be good within
- 4:20Speaker 2: our own right. This ain't a conversation about rich people.
- 4:25Speaker 2: This is conversation towards good people. And some of the
- 4:28Speaker 2: best people I know ain't rich at all. I swear
- 4:32Speaker 2: to God to some of the best people I know,
- 4:35Speaker 2: I can't even tell you how much they make. Some
- 4:39Speaker 2: of the biggest inspirations in my life have been from
- 4:42Speaker 2: common people who have done some uncommon things. They have
- 4:48Speaker 2: been my greatest inspiration. Martin Luther King was not a
- 4:52Speaker 2: rich man. He affected me profoundly, profoundly man. Now there
- 5:00Speaker 2: are some men who have made a success out of
- 5:02Speaker 2: themselves financially that have affected me. But my greatest effect
- 5:06Speaker 2: in my life was not by rich people. My father,
- 5:11Speaker 2: Slick Harvey Lord have mercy poor his entire life. The
- 5:16Speaker 2: greatest effect on me, ever, this dude made me man.
- 5:21Speaker 2: If it wasn't for this dude right here, I'm not
- 5:23Speaker 2: here today. My father was that type of man. He
- 5:27Speaker 2: was really the best man I ever knew. I didn't
- 5:30Speaker 2: know a stronger dude than him. And when he passed
- 5:32Speaker 2: I couldn't believe it because the strongest dude I know.
- 5:36Speaker 2: When I got the news, I fell on my knees.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Man I remember the day I got the phone car
- 5:40Speaker 2: fell on my knees on my ranch in Texas. My
- 5:43Speaker 2: brother say, Daddy gone, what Daddy? It was totally different
- 5:50Speaker 2: reaction than when my mother passed. My mother it just
- 5:53Speaker 2: crumbled me because she was dear to me. But my father,
- 5:57Speaker 2: I just never thought nothing. What happened to this dude?
- 5:59Speaker 2: I just really did. But he planted some trees in
- 6:04Speaker 2: my heart and in my life of which he knew
- 6:07Speaker 2: he would never sit under the shade in And he
- 6:10Speaker 2: made me who I am. That's who I'm trying to be.
- 6:13Speaker 2: That's who you should try to plant some trees with
- 6:15Speaker 2: which you will know never sit under the shade and
- 6:18Speaker 2: makes you a good person.
- 6:19Speaker 1: Y'all have a great date.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Hey, listen, y'all talk to God.
