- 0:00There are implications for anyone excepting the mission to
- 0:04work toward the evolutionary change of human nature, speeded
- 0:08up by the yogic process. We think we should somehow have
- 0:13amazing spiritual experiences and live in a world of peace,
- 0:18sunshine, and joy. The reality is likely to be far
- 0:23different. What does it mean to change or
- 0:26transform human nature? It means we need to confront and
- 0:31address the difficulties inherent in the current state of
- 0:35human nature. In his epic poem Savitri, a
- 0:39Legend and a Symbol, Srioro Bindo states the issue plainly.
- 0:44Quote He too must carry the yoke he came to unloose.
- 0:50He too must bear the pang that he would heal.
- 0:54Exempt and unaffilted by Earth's fate, How shall he cure the ills
- 0:59he never felt? End Quote and quote.
- 1:06He carries the suffering world in his own breast.
- 1:09Its sins weigh on his thoughts. Its grief is his.
- 1:13Earth's ancient load lies heavy on his soul.
- 1:17Night in its powers beleaguer his tardy steps.
- 1:20The Titan adversary's clutch he bears.
- 1:23His March is a battle in a pilgrimage.
- 1:26Life's evil smites. He is stricken with the world's
- 1:30pain. 1,000,000 wounds gape in his secret heart.
- 1:34He journeys sleepless through an unending night.
- 1:38Antagonist forces crowd across his path.
- 1:41A siege, a combat is his inner life.
- 1:46Even worse may be the cost direr the pain.
- 1:51His large identity and all harbouring love shall bring the
- 1:54cosmic anguish into his depths. The sorrow of all living things
- 1:59shall come and knock at his doors, and live within his
- 2:02house. A dreadful cord of sympathy can
- 2:06tie all suffering into his single grief, and make all agony
- 2:11in all the world's his own. End Quote.
- 2:18The fact that someone has chosen the path of transformation means
- 2:21that he accepts facing and addressing all the weaknesses,
- 2:27limitations, resistances, obscurities and obstructions
- 2:33that the long habits of Earth nature present.
- 2:37This is the work to be done. It is new ground that needs to
- 2:41be explored, the exploration of the depths of inner space,
- 2:46deeper human psychology, and the very roots of that psychology in
- 2:52the development of matter, life and mind itself.
- 2:57The more advanced the seeker is along the path, the greater the
- 3:01challenges he is asked to tackle, the mother notes quote.
- 3:08Difficulties are sent to us exclusively to make the
- 3:11realization more perfect. Each time we try to realize
- 3:16something and meet with a resistance or an obstacle or
- 3:19even a failure, what seems to be a failure, we should know, we
- 3:24should never forget that it is exclusively, absolutely, so that
- 3:30the realization may be more perfect.
- 3:34So this habit of cringing, of getting discouraged or even
- 3:38feeling uncomfortable, or of abusing yourself and telling
- 3:42yourself, there again, I have made a mistake, all that is
- 3:47absolute foolishness. Simply tell yourself we don't
- 3:52know how to do things as they ought to be done.
- 3:55Well, they are being done for us, come what may.
- 3:59And if we could see to what extent all that seems to be,
- 4:03yes, a difficulty, a mistake, a failure, an obstacle, all that
- 4:10is just to help us so that the realization may be more perfect.
- 4:15Once you know that, everything becomes easy.
