- 0:00Speaker 1: Coach, it's a new season upon this playoff time, it's
- 0:05Speaker 1: it comes down to this four or five matchup Friday night, hosting,
- 0:09Speaker 1: hosting the game at Tuscano versus Providence. Just want to
- 0:12Speaker 1: get your thoughts into that that quarterfinal matchup.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yeah, well, certainly excited to be hosting here at Tuscano
- 0:19Speaker 2: for the quarterfinals. We know we've got a really formidable
- 0:24Speaker 2: opponent in Providence. We've played them got about a month ago,
- 0:29Speaker 2: and uh, you know, they they got the better of
- 0:33Speaker 2: us in that weekend series. There were both two hard
- 0:36Speaker 2: fought games, and I think both our teams are very
- 0:39Speaker 2: similar and compete hard, good goaltending. Uh you know, Matchew
- 0:47Speaker 2: and Conley didn't play for them that weekend, so I
- 0:51Speaker 2: think that will only strengthen their club having those two back.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So we know it's going to be a really hard
- 0:58Speaker 2: fought game come Friday night.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Awesome. I right, will open up for questions. Who wants
- 1:04Speaker 1: to start us off? I don't jump all at once, guys,
- 1:14Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Andrew, Hey, keV, you had mentioned a few weeks back
- 1:20Speaker 3: how you're talking about scheduling, how it would be great
- 1:22Speaker 3: to have this four or five matchup on a Friday night.
- 1:25Speaker 3: Just I guess, just you know, how did that come about?
- 1:29Speaker 3: You know, was that something that had been played or
- 1:32Speaker 3: I guess, just how glad are you that you guys
- 1:34Speaker 3: get to kick things off on Friday.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Well, it happened organically last year Andrew with the women's
- 1:40Speaker 2: tournament because there was a conflict with one of the arenas.
- 1:45Speaker 2: So they played the four or five game on Friday.
- 1:48Speaker 2: And I remember going down the convention last year saying,
- 1:51Speaker 2: you know, we should do the same thing. Those two
- 1:53Speaker 2: teams know who they're playing, and there's no reason why
- 1:57Speaker 2: we can't play that game Friday. Have to wait till Saturday.
- 2:02Speaker 2: We'll have plenty of time of rest to play the game.
- 2:04Speaker 2: And the thing is it gives us more exposure for
- 2:06Speaker 2: the league. So instead of people trying to watch four games,
- 2:11Speaker 2: you know, in one day at least, now you're going
- 2:13Speaker 2: to get more people can watch that game Friday, and
- 2:16Speaker 2: it gives you bigger windows on Saturday to spread the
- 2:20Speaker 2: games out. I think, so you can get multiple eyes
- 2:22Speaker 2: on our product. So yeah, to answer your question, I'm
- 2:30Speaker 2: happy we're playing. I think it's great, Adam.
- 2:39Speaker 1: Go ahead, all right.
- 2:43Speaker 4: So, thinking of the way that the season ended, and
- 2:47Speaker 4: knowing that, especially those last three games were games that
- 2:52Speaker 4: I think on paper, you can say, Okay, you kind
- 2:54Speaker 4: should have won. What did you take away from the
- 2:56Speaker 4: way that your team showed up, executed and got those
- 3:00Speaker 4: full nine points.
- 3:02Speaker 2: I think we played well, maybe not so well up
- 3:05Speaker 2: in Vermont. I thought we had some great goaltending and
- 3:09Speaker 2: some timely scoring. But that being said, it has zero
- 3:14Speaker 2: impact on what's going to happen Friday night. I've been
- 3:18Speaker 2: around too long, and I've coached some really good teams.
- 3:22Speaker 2: I've been the number one seed in this tournament and
- 3:25Speaker 2: have lost to the eighth seed after going on a roll.
- 3:28Speaker 2: It does not matter one bit what happened over the
- 3:32Speaker 2: last three games when it comes to Friday. I know
- 3:35Speaker 2: that for a fact.
- 3:38Speaker 4: In terms of the top line, and I know that
- 3:40Speaker 4: we've talked about him a bunch. But entering postseason play,
- 3:44Speaker 4: what do you like most about what those three guys
- 3:46Speaker 4: are doing?
- 3:48Speaker 2: I like what most about our team is that if
- 3:51Speaker 2: they don't score, we still have a good chance to win.
- 3:53Speaker 2: I feel because we have some balance scoring with all
- 3:55Speaker 2: our other lines. So I like the fact that they
- 3:59Speaker 2: don't have have that type of pressure on them when
- 4:03Speaker 2: we're playing games because we have so much confidence in
- 4:07Speaker 2: the other players on our team, and I think that
- 4:10Speaker 2: helps them play a little more. They can be a
- 4:15Speaker 2: little play more free, so to speak, where they don't
- 4:22Speaker 2: have to feel that type of pressure that if we
- 4:24Speaker 2: don't score, we don't have a chance to win.
- 4:27Speaker 4: Thanks coach.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Joe, go ahead, Thanks Colin keV.
- 4:33Speaker 3: What did you do against Providence in the first two
- 4:35Speaker 3: meetings that you've got to do even better on Friday night?
- 4:41Speaker 2: Oh, I think, well, we got one tie out of
- 4:47Speaker 2: the two games, so there's a lot we can do better.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I just think, you know, when you play Providence, it's
- 4:55Speaker 2: always going to come down to I think special teams
- 4:59Speaker 2: are disciplined for sure, has to be better. We took
- 5:02Speaker 2: a five minute major in that game at home that
- 5:06Speaker 2: Providence scored on to get them give them the goal
- 5:08Speaker 2: ahead goal. So I think are after the whistle discipline
- 5:12Speaker 2: has to be you know, you know there is no
- 5:17Speaker 2: error effort there, and when you're in the playoffs, that
- 5:21Speaker 2: can end your season. So I think that's an area
- 5:26Speaker 2: where we've got to make sure that we're we've tightened up.
- 5:29Speaker 2: I think, as always, when you're playing in playoff games
- 5:36Speaker 2: or any game, for that matter, you better manage to
- 5:39Speaker 2: puck to the neutral zone because if you turn it
- 5:41Speaker 2: over there, you're giving good teams an opportunity to hurt you.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And the one thing I love about this quarterfinal game
- 5:52Speaker 2: is that, like we're both so highly ranked, I think
- 5:57Speaker 2: that it's I just think it makes it a lot
- 6:02Speaker 2: more fun, you know, And it's just I think it's
- 6:08Speaker 2: going to be a great hockey game. I do. I
- 6:10Speaker 2: really respect the way Nate prepares his teams. He's a
- 6:15Speaker 2: seasons coach, He's won at a lot of different levels,
- 6:18Speaker 2: and I know that coming into that game Friday, we're
- 6:23Speaker 2: going to get Providence's best. Thanks jap.
- 6:33Speaker 1: Anyone else, go ahead, Adam.
- 6:38Speaker 4: When you talk about the discipline, and on one of
- 6:41Speaker 4: the coaches shows, we had talked about the meetings have
- 6:44Speaker 4: cut back on those five minute majors, and I think
- 6:46Speaker 4: from that point on the team has is at your
- 6:48Speaker 4: perspective as well, that they have been a little more
- 6:50Speaker 4: disciplined since whatever whatever game it was where you kind
- 6:55Speaker 4: of had that moment where you said this has to stop.
- 6:58Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I think that, and for the most part,
- 7:03Speaker 2: we were disciplined, you know, for most of the year.
- 7:07Speaker 2: I can't say, I think our our penalty minutes were
- 7:10Speaker 2: down quite a bit from last year. So from that standpoint,
- 7:15Speaker 2: I give our kids a lot of credit. But when
- 7:18Speaker 2: you're in a playoff game and you know the stakes
- 7:20Speaker 2: are higher and the tension is higher, there's at times
- 7:30Speaker 2: it creates confrontations and after the whistle confrontations, and those
- 7:35Speaker 2: are the things that you really have to mentally be
- 7:40Speaker 2: strong enough to avoid.
- 7:44Speaker 4: It felt like you almost said this when kind of
- 7:47Speaker 4: talking about providence in the matchup. But does this allow
- 7:52Speaker 4: with obviously providence semi final championship, you know that the
- 7:58Speaker 4: NCAA Tournament is our be locked in, and I know
- 8:02Speaker 4: that's something you've talked about. Did that take some of
- 8:04Speaker 4: the pressure off and just allow this game to be
- 8:07Speaker 4: for you guys, just to go out there and play
- 8:09Speaker 4: this game.
- 8:11Speaker 2: I think probably to some extent, I think that's the case.
- 8:15Speaker 2: We've never been in this position before. We've always had
- 8:18Speaker 2: to win the tournament to get in. You know, in
- 8:22Speaker 2: my previous years that we were in the NCAA Tournament
- 8:29Speaker 2: playing this, it was so long ago that I can't
- 8:32Speaker 2: remember how the team felt. So I'm not sure. I
- 8:37Speaker 2: know our kids are listen, we know We're in the
- 8:41Speaker 2: NCAA tournament and that's great, but we also want to
- 8:44Speaker 2: win a Hockey East Championship. And I know that throughout
- 8:50Speaker 2: my career, the hardest game to win a lot of
- 8:55Speaker 2: times is the first one because when you get to
- 9:00Speaker 2: the guard and that's just excitement and it's almost like
- 9:02Speaker 2: the cherry on top when you are trying to get there,
- 9:08Speaker 2: a lot of times, that's the hardest scheme to win.
- 9:11Speaker 1: Awesome, Well, thanks everyone, coach, thank you, good luck this
- 9:15Speaker 1: weekend and broadcast all of you guys. Stay on for
- 9:18Speaker 1: a few extra minutes with Coach
