- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: Chakes the cheap.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't have any money saved really.

- 0:32[SPEAKER_01]: I already said something, this was gave me the mindset of, okay, I want to franchise my company.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think the biggest issue that most people have is that they understand working hard.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: Not realizing that there's people, there's systems that you can't scale hard work.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_01]: You either go, get sore, you gonna be lost.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not the lost person.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: If you lost everything tomorrow, I had to rebuild from scratch, what's your exact game plan?
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: I would...

- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: The greatest money mindset show on the planet.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Listen, today we are talking to an expert because most people think they build a wealth starts with money, but today's guest proof that it starts with a decision.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: She went from pursuing the career in nursing to building one of the fastest growing
- 2:33[SPEAKER_00]: tax franchise organizations in the country expanding to more than 20 locations nationwide while helping hundreds of entrepreneurs create six and seven figure businesses of their own.
- 2:47[SPEAKER_00]: But here's the question that I need to ask you.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: What's the difference between someone who prepares taxes and someone who builds an empire from tax preparation?
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: In this episode, we're diving deep into franchise development, business infrastructure, automation, wealth creation, and why so many entrepreneurs stay self-employed instead of becoming true business owners.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: If you ever wanted to scale your expertise, create systems that make money without you or build a legacy bigger than yourself, this conversation could completely change how you think about business.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_00]: Stay until the end because Deja James, Dr.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: Deja James, excuse me, is breaking down the exact mindset shift systems and strategies that help turn a side-hunt to Hasside Hustle into a multi-million dollar enterprise, ladies and gentlemen.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome, Dr.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_00]: Deja James, it's not the world.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: Hello everybody.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, it's a pleasure to have you here.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited about this you know this interview Because you know inside the vault is a show that really talks about the mindset like what it takes
- 4:02[SPEAKER_00]: to get to the next level and then, you know, as somebody, you know, from Louisiana, somebody who didn't, you know, grow up with money to be able to not only build a multi-million-dollar business for yourself, but also help others do it.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: This is the type of guest that we like to have on the show to kind of just show our insiders like we call them, you know, the way, right?
- 4:23[SPEAKER_00]: How to, like, build financial freedom for themselves.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and so I got a bunch of questions, but before we start there for those who don't know who is Dr.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_00]: Deja James.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, um, I'm the owner of a wealthy crew financials and so wealthy enterprise.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_01]: Um, this is my third year with the tax company.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: And within our first year, we were a million multi million company.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: Love it.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Love it.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Love it.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Take me to, you know, back a little bit right to your beginnings.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: Like how did you, you know, like how did you grow up?
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: What made you also what made you get into the tax business like was this something that you owe it right because you was a nurse at one time and then you decided to like.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: How did I get to tell you that?
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so am I grew up in a small town, Jones, Rubber, Louisiana.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: I had my mom was a single mom with four kids.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_01]: She had great support from my grandparents and her brother, you know.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_01]: So we never, I can't say we struggled, but I'm not gonna say it was easy for her being a single mom either, okay?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_01]: Went to,
- 5:28[SPEAKER_01]: high school, you know, I did all my school in Johnsboro and I was a 4.0 student.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so school was easy for me until I went to college and nursing school was the whole of the level and COVID came.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I was, you know, doing well, I was actually ahead of where I should have been when I got the college
- 5:50[SPEAKER_01]: COVID came, I went and did a nursing contract, a nursing state contract, and at the time I was paying good, especially during COVID, you know, was hard to see some of the stuff we dealt with, but at the same time, it paid good.
- 6:02[SPEAKER_01]: And at that time, my grandpa had cancer, and he was our source.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: That was our go-to person growing up.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, as long as you're doing good, you don't have to worry.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: He was that type of man.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: And he passed during COVID.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: So at that point, I came back home and I didn't business this before.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, he was a store owner.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_01]: He had a grocery store and he was the one that taught me, you know, how to manage my money.
- 6:31[SPEAKER_01]: Did I listen to?
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, all right.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: When I graduated, created two.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so was our talk right?
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, did I listen?
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: No, so, um, you know, like I said when he passed it was like a whole mindset shift like who do you call on?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, and that kind of scared me
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: So at that point, it was like, I had to figure something out.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_01]: I literally saw Facebook A one day a girl said she took six speakers in a taxi in the street.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, at this point, I had to try it, you know, because I know I'm good with numbers.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: My favorite subject was male.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I got into it.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_01]: I took a chance.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: I learned, you know, I joined the team I first.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: And in the taxi industry, a lot of people try to skip to the million dollar side, but they don't understand.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: You got to start.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: and learn, you have to start ready to learn.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I learned, you know, more about Texas and I started doing my family in France.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Part-time, I was going to, well, I was doing Texas part-time, but I had a full-time job.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I would go to work, get on my computer and do Texas.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: And my first year, I made about 50K.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: Part-time, like, doing a bare minimum, I felt like, so at that point, I said, I waited a few months and just, I wasn't happy with how I was leaving.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: checked the cheat, you know, I didn't have any money saved really, you know, so I was just like something has to change.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_01]: And like I said, with my grandpa leaving my security was gone.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: So I realized, okay, I have to be my security and I got to grow up.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, because I'm on the 29th and I think it's good, you know, to be where I am.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: So I was like, I got to figure it out.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: So I
- 8:17[SPEAKER_00]: And you were doing taxes on the side and still had a job.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: And be keeping my tax season is like three months, three to four months, right?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: So I quit my job and I told her, but I had ton of vision and I knew, okay, I'm going to quit this job and I'm a focus.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to focus on what I'm trying to be assault.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't go and get a mentor at first.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: At that time, I researched, I started studying it.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, how do you run a taste office?
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: What do you need to run a taste office?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I, you know, the in my research, and I started my own company.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: I started with a team of just about, started with a living, but we had about five people on that team, and I had some hunger.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_01]: Then five people was ready.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: So we, you know, they put their trust in me, and we grew, you know, we started this company off together.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: And also, within my first year, I had already franchiseed my company to somebody else.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_01]: And they believed in my mentorship and my skills because I studied what I was doing.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_01]: And I was very, I already knew about taxes before this.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, they put their trust in me because I was business oriented.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: So, and I have had previous businesses before but not like this, you know, just some little stuff I've done, and from there was, and then I knew if I was going to come into this industry, how could I set myself apart, you know, in the tax industry, you had tax prepared, the office owners and then service bureau, and that's all, you know, that's the levels to it, but what else is it?
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: I said, and I was literally like, okay, you got H&R block.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: You have Jackson here with Liberty Tasks, all of these tax companies, but they're not as so that's what gave me the mindset of, okay, I want to franchise my company.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_01]: And if anybody else can do it, I can do it.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: And that's where, you know, the start came from from.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: What would you say is the difference between, you know, like you mentioned in a Jackson Heward, you know, H&R block, what's the difference between your company and what you do and then?
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't look at this as a seasonal position.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_01]: We five taxes year round and I'm very big on educating.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: So I want to build a relationship with my class.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to look at
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: So when you come to me, if I want to be able to break that, hey, this is what you're getting.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I want to break now your return to where you understand it.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: I want to let you know, hey, you can do this and why you shouldn't do this.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm very big on educating not only my team, but my clients as well.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_01]: And also, it's an experience.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to know that, hey, this is not just a money thing for me.
- 10:58[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to feel comfortable.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: I want you to be able to come and be in consult with me outside of states.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_01]: So it could be your credit.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: It could be bookkeeping.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: It could be legal protection, you know, in whatever way that I can help my clients.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm real big on educating and giving back to them.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_00]: What would you say is that like the the hardest part of building the business right because I know there's a lot of people right now watching that might be the same situation that you were in I know AI is taking over jobs or that stuff so they're trying to figure out a way as you were building what would you say was the most difficult part.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the most difficult part for me was delegate, so being in my company scale face, you know, it was kind of tough.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_01]: This my baby.
- 11:46[SPEAKER_01]: I treat this company like my son and to be able to say, hey, can you do this?
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was me having to put my trust in other people.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_01]: So I had to figure out systems.
- 11:55[SPEAKER_01]: I had to figure out ways because I couldn't do everything.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's a lot when you try to, you know, as you're growing your company or even sometimes when you're building your company, you have to realize that you can't do everything and there are people to do certain things for you and you just have to give, you know, you have to let people help you.
- 12:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I love what you said that because I think the biggest issue that most people have is that, especially if you never ran a business before, right, they understand working hard, right, and so because they understand working hard, that's when they.
- 12:38[SPEAKER_00]: When they start a business, that's what they know.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: So they start working hard, not realizing that there's people, there's systems, there's automation, there's workflows, there's things that can actually make business easier.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_00]: And to your point when you talk about scaling, you can't scale hard work.
- 12:56[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a little bit about that at what point did you learn?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: You know automation, you learn like you said you had to delegate like systems and things that that nature like What point did you learn that and how has that helped you you know grow this business so fast though True cuz it is multi-million dollar business.
- 13:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's that's and and not even 30 yet is it is a big kids a big deal
- 13:21[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I would say after my first year of running, having a company, I realized that I was the automation.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: I was the one reaching out to clients, trying to give them that client experience, but I'm also the one manually sending emails and text messages.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: So, I found a mentor and a lot of people most times they're like, well, I don't know that a mentor, I'm not ready for a mentor, a mentor is going to streamline your process because they're showing you the stuff they've already figured out.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: So at that point, I researched and I found the a mentor who was already doing, you know, something that I was trying to accomplish.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_01]: and that helped me because that was the person that said okay hey you need so you need help you can't do it all and at that point they changed a shift that was a shift for me because I'm been like I'm very smart so instead of me
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: just hiring people to do this.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: I also learned how to do this stuff.
- 14:22[SPEAKER_01]: So that took my business to a whole another level because not only do am I able to work this system.
- 14:27[SPEAKER_01]: I create these systems now.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 14:29[SPEAKER_01]: And that's another thing I feel like with our entrepreneurship is easy for us to say, hey, I could hire this person to do this.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_01]: I could hire that person.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: But if that person's seeking there and the Philippines, you know, and they
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, that's something else I feel like as business owners, you need to learn the systems that you're also running to, don't just hire people to set it up for you.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_01]: Because without the unnecessary business, so it was when I, once I learned automations, man, it took, you know, it just makes things take off because at that point, I'm not the one manually doing all of these things and hiring the team to assist me.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_01]: It just makes sure business is like, go faster.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_00]: No, how have you, if you have, how have you integrated AI into your business currently?
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: Um, when you call the front of the business line, um, especially with the with tech seas, we have a tech season and we have all season.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: So being able to let AI answer some of those questions that clients have, hey, I mean, my taste documents.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_01]: Once they hear is that, boom, we get an notification, send this person their documents, you know.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: So it just cuts out a lot of,
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: me on the phone.
- 15:45[SPEAKER_01]: My team on the phone because if you know we're able to accommodate our clients quicker too because again we're not having to set up all of these appointments and take out time for something so simple.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: So it cuts out a lot of them.
- 15:59[SPEAKER_00]: the longer process is for simpler things than you think for sure for sure and how does one make money year round right because i know every time i hit a tax business that's what i think i think seasonal i think november december january maybe maybe late some late people in February and that's it you know what i'm saying but how do you make money all year
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: You have to be like I say, you have to educate yourself.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: You have to be willing to grow past your current season.
- 16:29[SPEAKER_01]: So you need to always think ahead.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: So after I learned taxes and I know I could teach a team how to do taxes, okay, we got a competition everywhere.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to set yourself apart in anything you do, any business that you do.
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: So you can offer other services, bookkeeping, credit repair.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: payroll services.
- 16:48[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you just have to be able to add, but in the text industry, once you master being an office owner, the next thing is teaching and providing software.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: If people saw you become a service bureau, well, I caught on to this game, quick.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: So after my first year, I became a service bureau.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: So not only did I,
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: teaching my people how to do takes isn't how to set their offices up.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_01]: I also brought in other people.
- 17:14[SPEAKER_01]: It showed mentor and coach them on how I did it and how I was able to scale so quick.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: So I gave them, you know, my mentee is my blueprint and watch them grow their businesses.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_01]: So that's, you know, you just have to be willing to educate yourself and stay up to date.
- 17:31[SPEAKER_01]: You got to keep learning something.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: You know, always be willing to learn.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I love that because I think and I always say this so I think that's the best business model where it's like, you know, you first you find a mentor who's done what you, you know, want to do you learn from that mentor and get results on
- 17:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you add your your flavor to a different will and then you now pay back the favor, right?
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: You now start to mentor other people and get them.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_00]: How does it feel right?
- 18:05[SPEAKER_00]: Just knowing You know, you know, during COVID Life is shifting things gotta be different now.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_00]: You're running a multi-million dollar business and you're also Helping others a bill six or seven think of businesses like what what's that?
- 18:20[SPEAKER_00]: What's that feeling like being able to do that?
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: When you have a security, when you have somebody that you've always caught on, it was a security blanket.
- 18:30[SPEAKER_01]: And you lose their blanket.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: You either go get to or you're going to be lost.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not the lost person.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so I'm gonna get to it.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: You have to have ton of vision, you have to know what, you know, that's what you're wanting to do.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_01]: So being able to make this money doing COVID working hard and come and build a company and it's security and know that I can literally sit back six months out the year for home and to without worrying on my own security.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's a whole different mindset.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: But what comes with that mindset is making sure you don't go back to it, you know, go back to not having that security.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_01]: So when you get the money you need to invest, that you have to find ways to make money without doing any work.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: So you invest, you educate yourself, you learn, you get it vibes, you know, people to help you keep your money going growing.
- 19:22[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, not like that.
- 19:26[SPEAKER_00]: What is the, so like you, you've had hundreds of tax tax professionals build, you know, six to seven thinking businesses, what would you say is the biggest mistake though that like with, with everybody you've mentor, the biggest mistake that most tax professionals make.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think the biggest mistake is like I said earlier, a lot of people come into this like for the money, like, oh, tax pros make this, all these people make this money, but they don't understand the story behind the money.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: We did a lot of us that are successful started at the bottom and worked our way up.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of people look at the money side of it, but they're not getting the trainers, the education that comes with it, to be able to scale and grow to the bigger numbers.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_01]: So I think a lot of people just try to pop on a bandwagon and when they get on it, they either say, well, I'm not doing this good, so I'm just get out of it.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: When really it's not that you're not able to get to that point, you're just trying to, you know, keep up with the next person.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: focus on you, educate yourself, and build your way up.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Take it still by still, because nothing wrong with it.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_01]: And I think in our generation and how society, social media, all of this stuff is today.
- 20:36[SPEAKER_01]: They look at the money and they just try to go straight to the top.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I think that's the...
- 20:42[SPEAKER_00]: I'm glad you said that.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's the biggest mistake, right?
- 20:45[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why I love shows like this that kind of show behind the curtain.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_00]: And we use the word scale, right?
- 20:53[SPEAKER_00]: And franchising.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_00]: What is the, you know, I love the franchise model?
- 21:00[SPEAKER_00]: What is the benefit of franchising?
- 21:03[SPEAKER_00]: And how can franchises help somebody scale?
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so with franchise and you're basically getting the blueprint and a lot of people said, oh, well, when you franchise, you're buying somebody else company, it's not that you're buying somebody else company, you're getting a reputable company and you're owning it, you're getting ownership in that company.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: and you're able to not only come into starting the business, but you're starting the business with a reputable brand.
- 21:29[SPEAKER_01]: You're starting the business with a blueprint.
- 21:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're starting the business with systems that are already in place.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: So you're not having to figure everything out.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: You're not having to go and build out all of these countries, all of these systems, you know, finding software.
- 21:44[SPEAKER_01]: Everything is given to you, your face on a brand, basically.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: So, I mean, I just feel like it's the smart route to go.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, especially if you want to get into something business to something and not have to do it alone, it's a great support community.
- 22:01[SPEAKER_01]: I can't say with my company, we're very supportive.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if you can't give me, you can get to know the people on the phone at that time, you know, and being able to have a community and a network.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_01]: of people that are doing the same thing you're doing and it's no competition because if we all share the same name, why we gotta compete.
- 22:18[SPEAKER_01]: So that cuts out a lot of debt too because of course in any industry you would have a competition.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: But if you can confidently know the heck, I can call on this person without having to worry about if they're going to tell me the wrong thing or if they're not going to help me, you don't get that inside of.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_01]: a franchise because we're one at the end of the day, but you're your own business, you stand on your own and you know, you just have to respect and reputation by that brand.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, and I love that and I think that you know specifically for our community, for the Black and Brown community, it's not something that we're taught.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: You know, as it relates to business, like we just kind of think, all right, we're going to start a business again.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to work hard work hard because that's what we know and we don't realize that, you know, there's franchises all over the country.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: You think of McDonald's, you think about all of the, you know, fast food.
- 23:11[SPEAKER_00]: We think about all these different chains, like they become billion dollar businesses because of that model, right?
- 23:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because they were able to learn, you know, how to franchise, what's the, like, how do you
- 23:26[SPEAKER_00]: Um, stop someone though from ruining your brand, right?
- 23:30[SPEAKER_00]: You did all this work, multi-million dollar brand.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_00]: Now you got 20 locations, independent owners.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_00]: You know what happens when, you know, somebody, you know, tries to go off on a deep end or, uh, tarnishes, you know, the way, you know, you know, doctor, uh, days of jays, you know, set things up.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_00]: How do you, how do you, how do you, uh, you know, that,
- 23:51[SPEAKER_01]: I will say that's one of the tougher size of easements because at the end of the day, you look at it like, what are these people that you believe me because they're investing in your brand?
- 23:59[SPEAKER_01]: But you just have to be like, I say, I treat this company like my baby.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't play about my son.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm not gonna play about my business.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_01]: and when it comes to that, it's just being, you know, having legal protection, you have to have attorneys, review these contracts that you're giving people, make sure they're legally standing in whatever state that you're opening a franchise, be open about what comes with working with you.
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like that's a big issue when it comes to business, because people aren't trying to spare.
- 24:29[SPEAKER_01]: I told, you know, I was, I remember when I started takes this, I think I signed a contract, and it was maybe three pages.
- 24:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, I can we think that a contract, because I just know it does have everything that's needed inside of the contract, you know.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: So being able to have legal expertise to say, hey, this is what you need.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: This is particular rent at the end of the day.
- 24:52[SPEAKER_01]: And don't let nobody play with, you know, something you were taught for.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_00]: Not for sure, for sure.
- 24:57[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that,
- 25:00[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you grew up in the projects, I grew up in the projects.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes we blur the lines between business and how we were brought up.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_00]: I know for me, like, as somebody who grew up, I was in, I wasn't street by grew up in the streets, if that makes sense.
- 25:17[SPEAKER_00]: And a lot of times when it comes to business,
- 25:20[SPEAKER_00]: My street street instincts come up first.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know what I'm saying?
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: We're as like You can't do it that way, but We also have to understand that this is business, right?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_00]: So having attorneys and and doing things legally It's very important, right?
- 25:37[SPEAKER_00]: Like you can't you know say you can't be from you know be Luis Eddo Third Ward.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_00]: I don't have words, right?
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: That's what that's doing.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, all right, all right, but yeah I'm sorry.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 25:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can't be for leave from zone nine.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: It's all for
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, I just made that out of the house.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: But hey, I'm referring to your best sense, oh, poor.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: But you can't, you don't say you can't really do that.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: But how do you though?
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: How do you, like you said, I see the loser in your outplay about my business, I see it come up.
- 26:09[SPEAKER_00]: But how do you keep it though?
- 26:11[SPEAKER_00]: How do you, like, with somebody really, you know, try to play with you, like, you know, how do you keep it professional?
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: How do you not emotionally,
- 26:21[SPEAKER_00]: kind of, kind of go near, you know what I'm saying?
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: Guy, yeah, yeah, four months.
- 26:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's true, it's true, it's true.
- 26:28[SPEAKER_01]: Guy first and foremost, but I can't say, it's about professionalism and I'm hate strong first about professionalism, I suppose.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's true, anybody that joins my team early, you got to get a professional experience.
- 26:40[SPEAKER_01]: So when you come over here, you know, I'm really being on professionalism.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: And when it becomes, you know, when it comes to
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: I know how to cook personal life and handle business.
- 26:51[SPEAKER_01]: And you have to separate the tools sometimes.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and sometimes you can't help but build relationships.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: You want to build relationships.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: But you still have to protect what you build.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: And when it comes down to business, business is business.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's not personal.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's not villains involved.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: You have to handle business accordingly.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_01]: And that's why I say that's what a black and white comes into play.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_01]: because I could be your friend and personally you want to join my team we have that relationship but once we get to this contract we're at a legal standpoint where this is business and I detailed I have a whole everything in that.
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: So you can't miss anything and once you sign at paper you know at that point it's our business when it comes to this brand and it's company and I have stipulations in that tool for take this brand and things I will and will not allow
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: And it's also going to require revising it, stuff changes, and it's changes are made.
- 27:48[SPEAKER_01]: You need to update your paperwork and have your apartment signed and know that, hey, these updates have been made because this is now the standard because like anything else changes in the world, so you know, you have to make updates when they're business all the time.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a little bit about building a six figure business, right?
- 28:08[SPEAKER_00]: Because
- 28:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that social media has made, you know, you know, you know, building a six-figure business or, or, or, or, or generate in six figures equal success, right?
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a little bit about, or, or give me the truth about a six-figure entrepreneurship, like something that nobody talks about.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: People, it's easy to get the money, but you can spend it just to space.
- 28:36[SPEAKER_01]: I've watched a lot of people, I've paid, you know, within my own company, I've watched them starting out get the money.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_01]: And once they get it, it's like they never got it, you know, at the same time.
- 28:47[SPEAKER_01]: Because I think a lot of people learn how to manage money after they get money, when they should be learning how to manage money before it even comes.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that's a big downfall, and I can't say in our community, we don't have these conversations grown up.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_01]: They don't teach us these things in school, and I feel like there's something that should be taught, but they don't want to talk to us, and whatever, we know these.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: But I think that's where the lack of knowledge comes from, because it takes you to get the money loose money, and now you got to build it back up, then you, it's a learning game for us.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: When, if you learn first, if you know, hey,
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go around saying you're going to be a millionaire, but you don't have the mindset behind it.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: That's why when you are entrepreneur, my say should come first before anything you need to know, hey, what is your ton of vision?
- 29:35[SPEAKER_01]: What are you channeling?
- 29:36[SPEAKER_01]: What's about to come to you and what's it come?
- 29:38[SPEAKER_01]: What you're going to do with?
- 29:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: So it all adds to something you're not ready for, basically.
- 29:42[SPEAKER_01]: So tap in, learn what you need to know and know what you're going to do once it comes.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I love that because I think again, um, I know for me, my first time making any money was like a like a shocker, right?
- 29:54[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, like, I don't, you know, I just, I just always thought that making money was going to make life easier.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but I feel like,
- 30:04[SPEAKER_00]: And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and
- 30:29[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I don't think people understand the importance of investing back in your business, right?
- 30:35[SPEAKER_00]: Like a lot of people make the money and then they go by the car or they go upgrade the lifestyle opposed to taking that money to invest it back in a business so that the business could grow.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: Talk a little bit about some of the things that you've done, investment-wise, like once you became a multi-millionaire, what are some of those things that you've done with money that has helped you grow and sustain?
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: So when our first got money or a start, when our first got some money, I'm saying like that.
- 31:10[SPEAKER_01]: Believe it or not, there's money sitting in a ticket account and save as a account for a good period of time.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I got a business coach with the bank.
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yep.
- 31:22[SPEAKER_01]: And he, the first thing he said was, I've been waiting to talk to you because that money sitting there is not good.
- 31:27[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: And for those who don't know, when you have money in a chickens and savings, you're exposing it to people to do fraud on your account.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_01]: you give out your debit card, you give out your route number two, your jobs anywhere, anybody.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_01]: So at that point it's exposed.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas if you had that money in an investment account or you know with CDs, bonds, money, market accounts, high yield savings accounts, you know, just all these different things they take your money and put it into something.
- 31:58[SPEAKER_01]: hold it for a period of time or until you take it out and you're growing in business.
- 32:02[SPEAKER_01]: At that point, you don't have to worry about those things as far as somebody's taking your money.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_01]: You know, with simple fraud and things like that.
- 32:11[SPEAKER_01]: So that's something that I did.
- 32:13[SPEAKER_01]: I moved my money out of my savings and my chickens and I also, when you have money in the savings account, I think you get what
- 32:24[SPEAKER_01]: Whereas if you do a high yield savings or, you know, a money market account, you're at about four point four percent.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 32:31[SPEAKER_01]: And that's a big joke when you got some money in the bank.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: And you want to, so a couple of things I want to impact and you beat inflation, right?
- 32:38[SPEAKER_00]: Because people don't realize that, you know, the power of your dollar is decreasing, you know, with time.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so if you're leaving it and you're not earning anything, you know, you don't beat inflation.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_00]: But the other thing I'll commend you, though, too, because I was a banker, so my background is financial education.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_00]: And that's actually what are the things that I tell people to do when they just come into money, don't spend it.
- 33:07[SPEAKER_00]: That's right, and the reason why is because, again, a lot of times, people so used to not having money that when it comes in, they just try to find things, again, they upgrade the lifestyle, they spend it, like, how did you get that discipline?
- 33:23[SPEAKER_00]: Like, how did you get to a place where you were like, money was coming in?
- 33:27[SPEAKER_00]: And the first thought wasn't like, all right, I made it now, let me go get the G-Wag in,
- 33:37[SPEAKER_00]: get to that point where you were actually saving money.
- 33:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, like I said, first, my first year, I pretty much stayed almost every day on my head up, a lot of my money.
- 33:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was more so because, like I said, I lost my security.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I had never had that much money in my castle.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to lose it.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so that was another mindset thing.
- 33:57[SPEAKER_01]: And I knew if I went to grow my business and what I was trying to do, you know, it was going to take money.
- 34:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: Another part of it is it's so much going on on social media and things and I would see, you know, the different stores and iris, I'm like, okay, yeah, and I said, I don't do for, you know, I don't do any of those things, but it was just still without it, my mind like what if somebody, you know, tries to sue me or you know, just any of these things, I want to make sure that I didn't make this money and I'm not protected so it's, it's a security thing.
- 34:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think more so for me and then,
- 34:34[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not, I'm very private.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, I didn't care about materialistic things.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't doing things for an image or social media.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like that's a big problem today.
- 34:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, people get money and it's like, okay, now I can match this person or that person, but again, you know, you not doing with this person probably did a good thing money, you know?
- 34:58[SPEAKER_01]: So it's like you can paint with somebody you not even.
- 35:02[SPEAKER_01]: you shouldn't even be competing with at this point like so I think that's a big thing but again, that's a mindset thing.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: So if I'm a being a financial industry, I need to be able to manage my almond before somebody else too.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks, thanks, thanks.
- 35:16[SPEAKER_00]: What would you say is a business strategy everyone is teaching right now that you believe is completely overrated?
- 35:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good question, let me see.
- 35:35[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, I would say that a business strategy on the everybody is like just overhaping and stuff is webinars and stuff, and I say this because I think, I think, I think, I think
- 35:54[SPEAKER_01]: when anything you do, with anything that you do, have value and purpose behind it.
- 35:59[SPEAKER_01]: And I just feel like a lot of stuff is a money grab.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:03[SPEAKER_01]: So instead of getting people on a car to bathe them in to make money out of them.
- 36:09[SPEAKER_01]: make sure you're giving them the living with, you know, you said that you were going to do.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:14[SPEAKER_01]: And I just feel like right now, that's just something that's overly done and again, it's so money grab.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:21[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of people don't realize it until their money is gone.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, well, I paid out as money or I joined this subscription and I got on a recorded class.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 36:31[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, listen and chat, GPT build it out.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, for sure.
- 36:34[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you pay for it.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm glad you said that because I think that, you know, there's a lot of, um, because, you know, and again, it's the internet and everything is a gift in the curse, right?
- 36:48[SPEAKER_00]: So I love the internet, for the fact that there's no more gatekeepers, right?
- 36:56[SPEAKER_00]: We could talk directly to the consumer,
- 36:58[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but on the flip side of that to your point, um, you know, there's a lot of bad actors, right?
- 37:04[SPEAKER_00]: Who will take advantage of people who are used, um, you know, people's vulnerabilities or people not knowing to, you know, to have a money grab, um,
- 37:15[SPEAKER_00]: How do you identify, as a business owner, I mean, you still have mentors and coaches and things that are nature, you mentor people, what would you say somebody who's watching right now, who is either looking for a mentor, or somebody's getting into that coaching business, like what are some of the red flags and it's like, not, you know, don't pay for this person, right?
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: You know, like, how do you vet and find the right person to learn from?
- 37:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's my so just studying the person, you know, before you get in, you know, get that deep into it.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_01]: Before I pay somebody, someone I want to make sure they're going to be able to deliver what I'm paying for.
- 37:55[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_01]: So if I'm going to sign up to learn something from somebody, they should already be giving you signs that they know what they're talking about.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: They should have a reputation behind what they're delivering.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: And that just goes into really any industry because now social media can blow you up
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: Before you decide to spend that money, make sure you spend it with the right person.
- 38:20[SPEAKER_01]: Don't just do it because the ASS, you can join today for $49, because you don't read the fine print that says this will be charged to you every month automatically.
- 38:28[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so...
- 38:30[SPEAKER_01]: Check out what you're doing, you know, because at the end of the day, it's so money grab more so probably, but they put it in the fine print that they were going to do this and you just didn't read it, you know, because you thought you caught a deal and a deal is with cash.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: You know, that's people over the hill.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so if you put on their hate, it's originally called $5,000, but you can get it today for $2.99.
- 38:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's a sales pitch.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: So you have to be able to, okay, well, let me see, why should I join?
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: And so what am I going to get from this?
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: And look at, um, you know, the testimonies that come behind it.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_01]: If somebody's off for something good, there's thought you'll know it.
- 39:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, the people that have worked with them, you know, people will let you know, hey, they hammer their business, they do things accordingly.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: You know, and look at look for it.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_00]: What's the power of ads?
- 39:19[SPEAKER_00]: I want to, you know, after I'm on the diving a little bit to the tax business, but talk about the power of ads because I know you felt your mentor through an ad, right?
- 39:29[SPEAKER_00]: Is that something that you would advise any business owner to do like to invest in visibility?
- 39:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but I would say it's a process to that point, um, I don't feel like you should run a or, you know, just go straight into that, unless you have your foundation solid.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I see that then now, um, set up your foundation first, like I said, it's a process to everybody's to see.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 39:58[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you can jump right into it and get to, you know, that point, but if you don't have a mentor, a coach that has shown you, this is your framework, this is the workflow that you need and you.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Can't follow what they just did, then it's going to be hard for you.
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to be wasting a lot of money because it's okay.
- 40:15[SPEAKER_01]: You running ads and you bring these people to a site or you're telling them you have this service or this event or whatever.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_01]: But once they get there, it was neat.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't have the workflow, the automation, the constant reminders to let them know, how you get on this call, you know, it's a lot that comes with this.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: So if you don't have a full process, then you waste your money as or not you.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_00]: So somebody watching right now wants to get into the tax business, they have a nine to five so they don't necessarily feel like they have a lot of time.
- 40:49[SPEAKER_00]: What is their first step into getting into the tax business?
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Um, like I said, the first that would be, you know, learned it.
- 40:57[SPEAKER_01]: I would advise anybody who's first coming into a be a tax prepared, learn the game, learn what you're supposed to do.
- 41:02[SPEAKER_01]: Can you come into the state's industry and on your own office, as far as you can, but it's going to have a mentor that can walk you through and support you also, um, like, for my company, we don't wait until December to start trying to take
- 41:19[SPEAKER_01]: you know, so being able to find a company or mentor that can help you and support you, that's a big part of it.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: But I would say first of all, the comment says prepare, learn the game, learn what you should and shouldn't do, because the artist is not anybody who want to play with.
- 41:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Iris is just think-feet, right?
- 41:41[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, you just want to protect yourself at the end of the day.
- 41:44[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're building a ring, you always want to protect your brain.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: So, if you start off messing up your brain, I already taught it.
- 41:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, love that.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_00]: If you lost everything tomorrow, I had to rebuild from scratch.
- 41:55[SPEAKER_00]: We've just a laptop and you're experiencing what's your exact game plan.
- 42:03[SPEAKER_01]: I would...
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: I'm fine, Texas, I'm fine, I don't get it, hey, I'm doing it because if I done it once, I can do it again, but I love the thing, like I, I, I analyzed stuff that people do, I, I look at trends, I look at stuff people are doing on social media.
- 42:23[SPEAKER_01]: If you, um, I'm from a small town, so we would have a store named something for five or six years.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: And then it'll be a sudden name change, but you're going there and they got the same merchandise.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, at that point, they did a rebrand.
- 42:37[SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes it's okay to rebrand if you've done it before you can do it again.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: Just do it the right way.
- 42:42[SPEAKER_01]: You know, learn from your previous mistake.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: So I would probably rebrand and I might do a face with rebrand, so you don't even know us me.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I already got the knowledge and the mindset and the blueprint.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Sure.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm gonna do it.
- 42:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not gonna be with my face on it.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: You know, still.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, now with AI, like you get, you get, you get, you get, you do it.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you can do it.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can create AI twins, you can have all these different people.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_00]: What's one mistake that cost you the most money during your entrepreneur journey?
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: a legal kind of a country.
- 43:29[SPEAKER_01]: It was a country.
- 43:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it wasn't settled.
- 43:32[SPEAKER_01]: It wasn't worried properly.
- 43:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's for, you know, it was more so mean trying to, you know, look out for a person and be a friend to a person and then that backfired and, you know, when it came down to them doing something legally, I was in touch with.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: So at that point, I have to pay a lawyer.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: I have to prove that
- 43:52[SPEAKER_01]: I have nothing to do with this, but with this person, you know, so at that point, I had to spend money, you know, to protect my brain and what I built.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, nice, that's important.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's you, you know, pay attention who you go to business with.
- 44:06[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_00]: For someone trying to scale the six figures from six figures to seven figures, what's the one thing they need to stop doing immediately?
- 44:15[SPEAKER_01]: watching other people.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's kind of the issue folks.
- 44:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's on use.
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: Focus home with you, do it.
- 44:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and that's going.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to silence everybody else.
- 44:26[SPEAKER_01]: It's on a if I hear people say, I do social media race.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_01]: If you need to do it.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know, if that lock in on what you're trying to do because again, if you can tell it's six figures, if you can touch a hundred K can touch 200 and if you can touch 200, you can touch 400.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: So if you lock in on what you're trying to do on how you already know how to get to them.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: Now it's a process of duplication, you know, so if you can touch six figures, bring somebody else on teach them how to do it.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to get a little bit off of them and that's going to help streamline your process to submit.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_00]: Right, right.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I think that's one of the big, I mean, I mean, I be honest, I think that was one of the biggest lessons that I learned in my entrepreneurship journey.
- 45:08[SPEAKER_00]: You know, when when I first started, I would, you know, I would look at my peers quote unquote.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_00]: And then if they were doing something that they were getting success in, I would kind of like pivot to something and try to try that whatever.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I noticed that a lot of times that like,
- 45:25[SPEAKER_00]: kind of slowed me down and eventually when I just said, you know what, like you said, it's tunnel vision.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_00]: I was like, you know what, I'm just going to focus on me.
- 45:34[SPEAKER_00]: That's when success started to happen and I think part of it is because when you when you start to do it that way, you're actually being more yourself, right?
- 45:43[SPEAKER_00]: You're allowing the downloads to come from God,
- 45:47[SPEAKER_00]: from the universe, like the guidance, the GPS system, and so if you're looking at everybody else, you're not, they got their own direction, right?
- 45:57[SPEAKER_00]: So you follow in the car and y'all are not even going to the same destination for a room, right?
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to say it, so I love that.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_00]: When you look at your business, your brand, I don't know, right, 10 years from now, what's the vision
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: 10 years from now, um, I want to operate as a CEO, yes, yes, I feel like even though my business has scaled and grown quick, you know, a lot of people will get to this point and sit back.
- 46:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not sitting back.
- 46:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, ton of these and still because I'm not where I want to be yet.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm always trying to learn.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_01]: And when you have a franchise like I say, you're still competing with other companies, you still have to find ways to make your business, you know, set your business support.
- 46:45[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm steady educating myself.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still trying to find ways and creating systems to make this process, not only easy for the clients, but for my teams too.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, it's just a constant tone.
- 46:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like I say, I'm tone of vision.
- 46:59[SPEAKER_01]: I know what I'm trying to build in 10 years from now.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: I plan on having it out or I plan on having more systems in place.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: I plan on being able to sit back a little bit more right now.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still hungry right now.
- 47:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still following class.
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: I want to build myself to a certain point.
- 47:18[SPEAKER_01]: So where I can sit back and relax, you know, more.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: And there's just kind of where I see myself continue.
- 47:25[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 47:26[SPEAKER_00]: I love it.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_00]: If you could go back to young deja, right?
- 47:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know, 18-year-olds, 17-year-olds, deja, what advice do you give in her?
- 47:37[SPEAKER_01]: do not get a credit card.
- 47:41[SPEAKER_01]: Do not go in Victoria's secret.
- 47:43[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, Navy and let them say, you hey, let me get a credit card, especially if you're not disciplined enough or if you don't already have the knowledge of credit and finances.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: Again, like I said, it's not something that we were taught.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: So it's easy to say, yeah, I'll take that card.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: You give me $5,000 for free, but
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not realizing, okay, I'm working, but I'm not even making that in a month, you know, so it's like, I still have bills and to be able to afford this, okay, so then I get the myself was long as I'm paying the minimum, I'm good.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hurting myself.
- 48:17[SPEAKER_01]: My creative score is just don't horrible at this point.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: So I would say, you know, don't be in a rush to take money if you're not ready for what come with the money that you get.
- 48:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I love it, love it, love it, love it.
- 48:33[SPEAKER_00]: What, what, what is some, have you made any big purchases yet?
- 48:37[SPEAKER_00]: What's the biggest purchase so far?
- 48:40[SPEAKER_01]: No, I don't think I'm in the process now.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: Um, um, I've been,
- 48:47[SPEAKER_01]: on the look, well right now I'm currently about to build a home.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: So this will be my first major big purchase.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_01]: I started it.
- 48:55[SPEAKER_01]: I have, now I have gotten some cars.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_01]: I like some cars.
- 48:59[SPEAKER_01]: Some cars.
- 49:00[SPEAKER_00]: Is that?
- 49:00[SPEAKER_01]: But I like cars.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_01]: I like face cars.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_01]: So I would say there.
- 49:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I didn't even know.
- 49:06[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, no, not that face.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_01]: No, not that face.
- 49:10[SPEAKER_01]: But like I said, I don't feel like I'm just,
- 49:12[SPEAKER_01]: I don't feel like I'm ready for that, you know, like I say, I take a time too for sure.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so in it like I'm not keeping up with nobody else cool as long as they jump, portrayed, you know, what's for me is for me.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm not going to say I wouldn't get those things, but right now it's just not important to me.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_00]: for sure.
- 49:31[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_00]: And I note, you know, you, you, you just finish launching, you know, your first, first conference that you did in Atlanta.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, I'm doing.
- 49:40[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_00]: So, I know you lost conference, you have, you know, you have other dates that you want to start doing conferences, what, you know, what's the experience like, like, what do you want, people who come to your conferences, you know, what, what is the experience, what do you want them to get out of it?
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: So with my men, um, and Atlanta, we had different entrepreneurs come in and a lot of people say, oh, well, she has a tax company.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's going to be a tax conference, no.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_01]: Um, I feel like taxes, everybody has to file taxes.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: So my goal when I have events is to get entrepreneurs in a room, because it's, I want you to learn these different things like I said, I want to give wealth management tips.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to have credit people to tell you, hey, this is what the bank is looking
- 50:29[SPEAKER_01]: I want to give you an influencer to give their journey because again, it's not just about taxes, it's about how you're able to get to these points.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: How can you help me?
- 50:39[SPEAKER_01]: What is a tip that you can give me?
- 50:41[SPEAKER_01]: So when you come and tell these wrongs, you're not just going to get taxed for peers or, you know, taxed people.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: Now, we're going to be in a room and we're going to let you know, hey, we're going to give our insight, but it's always going to be more than that because my thing is we are like I say people look at us as seasonal workers.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of us are multiple business owners.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: So you may have me doing taxes.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: I might still be a hairstyle.
- 51:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I may still be a makeup artist or sale cars or something.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: And at that point.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: Even though I do these things and I do tapes, as you know, I still need to know what to do and I get this money.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, when I go into the bank and I want to start a business line, I create what are they looking for?
- 51:21[SPEAKER_01]: Um, when I hire team, how do I pay these people?
- 51:25[SPEAKER_01]: You know, so just having different people coming and giving site and, you know, give you a gym or tell you things that they have experience.
- 51:33[SPEAKER_01]: That'll, you know, help you along the way.
- 51:35[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: I like to work with entrepreneurs because at the end of the day we all fathets is nice if I say.
- 51:41[SPEAKER_00]: And I love those too because I know in the conference you had you know life insurance people you had you know again people to do credit you know so I love that you know even it I mean I mean if you're in taxes you're in a money game and so you're you're kind of building
- 51:58[SPEAKER_00]: uh... you know building that building that conference uh... you know building so that you could not only help people with taxes but help them with their overall finances um... you know you know are you you are you going to continue to grow the tax business are you looking for more franchises like you do a more mentorship like like talk about you know talk about your whole ecosystem
- 52:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I'm always our, like I said, we're year round business because we do more offered things more than taxes and I'm always willing to, you know, bring on franchises and people who are ready to get into the state industry and a good thing about it is not only, you know, I'm not going to say here.
- 52:36[SPEAKER_01]: You sign up for this.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_01]: This is the paper where I read it, figure it out.
- 52:39[SPEAKER_01]: No, you get full support.
- 52:41[SPEAKER_01]: We actively train.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: We do weekly calls.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: So you're constantly communicating, talking with us and learning.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we go to conferences.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: We want to make sure that we're keeping up with, you know, the new laws and things and we're able to teach our clients and let them know these things.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: So education is big.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_01]: And wait, mentorship, if you know, if you're ready, if you're ready for a mentor, come on, reach out to me, because it's going, it can help streamline your process.
- 53:10[SPEAKER_01]: I promise you.
- 53:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, love it.
- 53:13[SPEAKER_00]: Is there anything about days of James about your business that I didn't ask on this interview that you like, man, I wish you to ask me that because I want your audience to know this.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: Um.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: I would say that a lot of people think, oh, because she opened the text business, she only can't teach you texts.
- 53:36[SPEAKER_01]: As I told you before, I ran businesses before the text business, so I already had a business management mindset.
- 53:43[SPEAKER_01]: So when it comes to mentorship, I don't mentor my people just taxes.
- 53:48[SPEAKER_01]: I like to sit my mentees at the same table as I'm at because I don't want them to look at me and say I'm a mentor.
- 53:55[SPEAKER_01]: She's doing this day in the third.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're doing this together.
- 53:59[SPEAKER_01]: You know, if I can open up a door for you that wasn't open for me, let me help you and that's what I feel like mentorship is it's not me just saying here.
- 54:07[SPEAKER_01]: Follow this.
- 54:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is why they you need to do this.
- 54:09[SPEAKER_01]: No, we're going to figure out what works for you and
- 54:16[SPEAKER_01]: Taxes because you may have a business that needs systems in place.
- 54:20[SPEAKER_01]: I love doing systems.
- 54:22[SPEAKER_01]: I love building out CRMs.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_01]: I love building out website and things.
- 54:26[SPEAKER_01]: Before I got into taxes, I did business management.
- 54:28[SPEAKER_01]: So I was graphic design and I was building websites, setting up clothing websites.
- 54:34[SPEAKER_01]: You know, all of these things, so I like doing it to this day, so I can coach you and help streamline you and meet you where you're at.
- 54:41[SPEAKER_01]: I will do that.
- 54:42[SPEAKER_01]: So I do more than just
- 54:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and I love that.
- 54:45[SPEAKER_00]: I love that.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_00]: All right, child, Dr. Daisy James, if somebody wanted to like connect with you, they wanted to get more information.
