- 0:00Speaker 1: Let's get this shit going, fellas. Let's do it. It
- 0:07Speaker 1: feels weird sitting here. I can see everything. Right? Oh,
- 0:10Speaker 1: y'all got music and shit. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, man.
- 0:13Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We got intro, outro music, man. We're a tightly run operation. Oh,
- 0:17Speaker 1: this is good. Yeah, man. We're the good niggas. Oh, okay.
- 0:22Speaker 1: The good niggas don't. Don't. You're going to be like that. Oh, actually.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Do you be on TikTok? I've seen it. Have you?
- 0:30Speaker 1: Have you heard this? Have you seen this little light-skinned boy?
- 0:33Speaker 1: He's balding severely. But he won't let it go? He's
- 0:37Speaker 1: talking about, he has it like, it starts right here.
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's really, really bad. Like Stephen D. Smith. It's really bad.
- 0:44Speaker 3: And he's just like, yeah, you know, people are telling
- 0:46Speaker 3: him to go bald, right? And he's like, nah, I
- 0:49Speaker 3: don't want to do that. Because clearly, the underlying message
- 0:53Speaker 3: that a lot of the women that were telling him
- 0:55Speaker 3: to go bald were black women. And he's like, I
- 0:58Speaker 3: don't want to do that because that's not the demographic
- 1:00Speaker 3: he's trying.
- 1:01Speaker 1: To appeal to. And everybody was like, hmm. Niggas were like, hmm, fishy.
- 1:05Speaker 1: And niggas were like, oh, maybe a little fishy. But
- 1:07Speaker 1: they weren't sure.
- 1:08Speaker 3: But then later, he makes a TikTok and goes, well,
- 1:12Speaker 3: I don't like all these AI-generated images of me showing
- 1:15Speaker 3: me bald and whatever. That's not the image I'm trying to...
- 1:18Speaker 3: I see people putting tattoos and stuff on me. I'm
- 1:19Speaker 3: not like that. I'm a safe black.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And everybody was like, hmm. It was like, gotcha. Got him.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Got him. Got him. Got him. They are who we
- 1:29Speaker 1: thought they were. Do white bitches like one third of
- 1:32Speaker 1: a hairline? No. And that's the problem. They don't like
- 1:36Speaker 1: that neither. Who are you? Dumbass. There was white women
- 1:39Speaker 1: in the comments like, we don't like that shit either.
- 1:42Speaker 1: They don't like that either. That's crazy. You dumbass quadruple. Yeah.
- 1:47Speaker 1: What a maroon. Stupid ass octoroon.
- 1:50Speaker 4: Get out of here. This nigga thinks he's a bully. Exactly.
- 1:58Speaker 4: Sherman Helmsley ass looking ass. You don't get any type
- 2:02Speaker 4: of pussy. Don't make it a race thing. You get
- 2:03Speaker 4: snow pussy.
- 2:06Speaker 1: None of the bitches like that. You're scared. That shit
- 2:09Speaker 1: is universally hated.
- 2:12Speaker 3: But say all that to say, we are the same
- 2:14Speaker 3: blacks here. And hello, this is the Not That Serious Podcast,
- 2:18Speaker 3: home of the safe blacks. I am one of your

- 2:35Speaker 1: to me and call me Large Michael. I'm sure they're
- 2:38Speaker 1: going to try. I'm going to put my large foot
- 2:39Speaker 1: in your ass. I mean, don't, don't, don't. Then add
- 2:43Speaker 1: that in your name tag, Large Michael. All right, this
- 2:45Speaker 1: is a podcast. Yeah. And I'm going to see you
- 2:48Speaker 1: in real life. And they know you as Large Michael.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's just a synonym for, because he goes by Big Mike.
- 2:53Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? So it's just Big Mike,
- 2:54Speaker 1: Large Mike, same shit. We've been here for 500 plus episodes.
- 2:57Speaker 3: You know how this goes. Why are you doing this
- 2:59Speaker 3: right now? In front of company.
- 3:02Speaker 5: Because ain't nobody doing nothing in front of company.
- 3:05Speaker 3: Can you at least tone it down a little bit?
- 3:10Speaker 1: Excuse me? Today for me. Today for me. I don't
- 3:14Speaker 1: want none of y'all to change. We want him to change.
- 3:17Speaker 1: We've been wanting him to change for years.
- 3:22Speaker 5: That's fair.
- 3:23Speaker 1: How old are you? 33 years. That's fair. I'd be 34. Damn.
- 3:26Speaker 1: That's fair. Shack amount of years we've been with that.
- 3:29Speaker 1: Ain't shit change. We've been wanting this nigga to change
- 3:32Speaker 1: for Alonzo morning years. You are Big Mike. You are
- 3:36Speaker 1: as large as Michael.
- 3:37Speaker 5: That's fine.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Michael Grande, as you say. Here. Miguel Grande. Yeah, exactly.
- 3:43Speaker 1: Miguel Grande. See? But when we leave here, Miguel will do.
- 3:50Speaker 1: I mean, that's fair. Wouldn't that be fair, you say? Sure.
- 3:55Speaker 1: I hate that I have to pull teeth to get...
- 3:56Speaker 1: She didn't be having little shots. This is what I've noticed.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I don't have shots.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Oh, him?
- 4:01Speaker 1: Him and the light-skinned nigga over there that usually... Not me.
- 4:05Speaker 5: Not him.
- 4:05Speaker 3: The light-skinned nigga that usually consumes that space.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I was like, I don't know y'all colors. He does his.
- 4:11Speaker 3: We have a nice gradient. It is a nice little gradient.
- 4:14Speaker 3: It's a nice little gradient of all like you got
- 4:16Speaker 3: your waffles.
- 4:17Speaker 5: I know who you're talking about.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Yeah. We got a fake Polynesian, but he's not here
- 4:23Speaker 1: right now. Okay. We got a nice cornucopia of niggas.
- 4:26Speaker 1: Cornucopia of niggas. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, yeah. So, listen, man.
- 4:33Speaker 1: We've had a lot of guests.
- 4:36Speaker 3: And a lot of guests contact us in a various
- 4:39Speaker 3: amount of ways. And this random guest contacting us was
- 4:46Speaker 3: a mixture of, nigga, you lying.
- 4:50Speaker 1: Get the fuck out of here. Oh, shit. Yep.
- 4:54Speaker 3: And those are all the emotions I got when I
- 4:56Speaker 3: got the group text saying Malcolm Barrett was hitting us.
- 5:00Speaker 3: And I was like, and I'm going to be 100%
- 5:02Speaker 3: real because I'm not a liar.
- 5:04Speaker 1: First, I was like, what the fuck is that? Who
- 5:05Speaker 1: the fuck is that? Fair. Be that. And then I
- 5:07Speaker 1: looked at all that. Oh, I know this nigga. Yeah.
- 5:11Speaker 1: I fuck with this nigga. Yeah. He want to talk
- 5:13Speaker 1: to us? That's what I said. I'm telling you. I
- 5:15Speaker 1: was like, hell yeah. Book it. And he was like, yo, man,
- 5:18Speaker 1: we got Malcolm Bear in the house, man. Hey. What's up?
- 5:22Speaker 1: And if it makes you feel better, I still don't
- 5:24Speaker 1: know y'all names individually. Oh, listen. It don't matter. You
- 5:28Speaker 1: know what I mean? It's not that serious podcast. It's
- 5:32Speaker 1: some niggas.
- 5:33Speaker 5: If you want to call us nigga one, two, and three,
- 5:35Speaker 5: that's fine. I'm going to try and be a little
- 5:37Speaker 5: more respectful. Dark, not that serious. Dread, not that serious. Fat,
- 5:41Speaker 5: not that serious.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Okay. I see you loading it up in your mind.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I did a little bit. I was going to wait
- 5:47Speaker 1: a little later. Let's proceed amicably now. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:49Speaker 1: For sure. For sure. Well, man, how you feeling? How's everything, man?
- 5:53Speaker 1: I feel great, man. I went from, I told you guys,
- 5:56Speaker 1: from Good Day, New York to here.
- 5:57Speaker 5: So, you know.
- 5:59Speaker 1: You just dro-shaked down from there? This is cool. Yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Complete scene change. It's a very.
- 6:06Speaker 5: Big, the studio's different. It smells more like weed here,
- 6:09Speaker 5: but mostly because I was smelling it.
- 6:10Speaker 1: I was about to say, it smells more like weed here.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Only because I was smelling weed. They wasn't letting that
- 6:17Speaker 1: shit go on the premises. Yeah, yeah.
- 6:18Speaker 5: Good Day New York is real fucking eww about weed.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:24Speaker 3: Eww. Eww.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You mean I can't mainline money? Yeah, this is crazy.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Y'all don't do crack here? Yeah.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Come on.
- 6:32Speaker 1: Y'all are here at 4 a.m. every day. I'm saying.
- 6:36Speaker 1: Somebody's doing some crap. Y'all just freebasing live? Yeah. Just oxygen? Yeah.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Somebody's chasing the dragon.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Yeah, y'all wildin'. Y'all just raw dogging life like that.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Hell, yeah. It's not possible. Eight in the morning. No AIDS,
- 6:50Speaker 1: no vices, no nothing. No. Some of y'all got a kid.
- 6:53Speaker 1: One of y'all got a kid locked up somewhere. Something.
- 6:55Speaker 5: But, you know, I kept it real kosher because I
- 6:57Speaker 5: brought my mama, too.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Not here.
- 7:03Speaker 5: My mama would have been. The problem I'm bringing her,
- 7:06Speaker 5: she would have been talking all through the podcast. Yeah,
- 7:09Speaker 5: she would have grabbed the mic, started spitting.
- 7:10Speaker 1: That'd be the best stuff. We've got our moms on here, too.
- 7:15Speaker 5: Rob Markman Yeah, no, I sent her home, but she
- 7:17Speaker 5: already rolled with me. We went to Hot 97 together yesterday.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Rob Markman Oh, shit. Rob Markman Yeah, I saw that.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Rob Markman Oh, yeah, man. We was with Nina. I
- 7:30Speaker 1: hope I'm saying her name right. I'm going to mess up.
- 7:33Speaker 1: We'll bleep that out if it's wrong.
- 7:35Speaker 5: But yeah, she was there. She got on mic a
- 7:37Speaker 5: little something. And then, you know, we was like, good day.
- 7:39Speaker 5: And then I was like, all right, we've had, you know,
- 7:41Speaker 5: that's enough time. That's enough time with you.
- 7:44Speaker 1: You got enough screen time. Yeah, yeah. I was like,
- 7:48Speaker 1: the train's right there. I was like, you're not on Netflix.
- 7:50Speaker 1: The train's down the... Yeah, go out there and make
- 7:52Speaker 1: a right. I was like, pull over, driver, and....
- 7:56Speaker 5: The 456 is right there.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Actually, you only got to stop to do a slow roll.
- 8:02Speaker 1: She's limber. Don't give the crackheads any money. I got
- 8:07Speaker 1: to keep her active. Jump, ma. I got to keep
- 8:10Speaker 1: you limber. That's hilarious. I've seen your henchmen out there.
- 8:14Speaker 3: I was like, oh, this nigga got the Netflix budget.
- 8:17Speaker 1: Oh, the what? The henchman nigga out there just sitting
- 8:20Speaker 1: out there waiting. Yeah, man.
- 8:22Speaker 3: I went to go to the car. I'm like, oh,
- 8:24Speaker 3: he just got a nigga. I thought he just rented
- 8:26Speaker 3: a car. I'm like, oh, it's just a nigga.
- 8:27Speaker 1: Sitting in there doing whatever. Yeah, eating a sandwich, listening
- 8:31Speaker 1: to podcasts. With an earpiece in it. Yeah, man. That
- 8:34Speaker 1: was great.
- 8:35Speaker 5: It looked dope. I mean, that's over in about an hour.
- 8:39Speaker 5: After this podcast... He'll never see me.
- 8:42Speaker 1: We'll never see each other again.
- 8:43Speaker 5: That's the end of my driving. But that's what's cool
- 8:46Speaker 5: about being part of a network thing. Like, you look
- 8:49Speaker 5: cool for like an hour.
- 8:50Speaker 1: That's cool. That's a great hour. And listen, it's all
- 8:52Speaker 1: about the perception.
- 8:53Speaker 5: Mm-hmm.
- 8:53Speaker 1: You got to let people know, like, oh, who's in
- 8:55Speaker 1: that big black truck?
- 8:56Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:58Speaker 6: I was trying to say, you're in Burlington City, man.
- 9:01Speaker 6: Like- They don't know what the fuck going on.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Is that Obama?
- 9:06Speaker 6: To them, that could be anybody.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's real rural around here. Yeah, yeah. It's chill though.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's quiet. Yeah, no, no, no. Smells better. This ain't
- 9:17Speaker 1: the Joe Budden jersey. No, no, no, no, no, no.
- 9:20Speaker 5: This ain't Redman jersey.
- 9:21Speaker 1: No, no. This is not Redman jersey. No, no, no.
- 9:26Speaker 1: This is Mike Bibby jersey. Oh, okay. Call him the
- 9:29Speaker 1: Towns jersey. Okay, this is real lead and assists. Yeah.
- 9:32Speaker 1: Sort of. Yeah, exactly. We're not leading in scoring. Team
- 9:36Speaker 1: player jersey. We'll pass that motherfucker. Real fundamentals. Yeah. Screen
- 9:40Speaker 1: setting jersey. Ball screen. No, we just chest screen. Oh, okay.
- 9:43Speaker 1: I did. I like it. I like it. For the
- 9:47Speaker 1: Middles Jersey. I like it. I dig. Who's the song?
- 9:50Speaker 1: Carly Lloyd. That's our thing. We keep it real simple. Oh, yes.
- 9:53Speaker 1: I forgot all about Carly Lloyd.
- 9:54Speaker 5: Yeah, references.
- 9:55Speaker 1: Yeah. That's how we got it this far. But yeah, man.
- 10:03Speaker 1: People who don't know who you are, tell them who
- 10:05Speaker 1: you are, what you do. Yeah, I'm a famous actor.
- 10:08Speaker 5: My name is Malcolm Barrett.
- 10:09Speaker 1: Actually one of the top actors in the game. I
- 10:12Speaker 1: wasn't going to laugh, though. I was like, okay. I
- 10:15Speaker 1: would do the same thing. I was like, you know what?
- 10:18Speaker 1: Pop your shit, man. Yeah, talk your shit more. Fuck
- 10:20Speaker 1: all that. Fuck all that, nigga.
- 10:21Speaker 5: A lot of y'all know my face, but not my name.
- 10:23Speaker 5: I've been, what is it, timeless, better off Ted.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Four Law & Orders.
- 10:27Speaker 5: I almost did it, kind of did it, did it,
- 10:30Speaker 5: and then defended against it. All right, so what was
- 10:35Speaker 5: the one where you did it?
- 10:37Speaker 1: What did you do on Law & Order? What did
- 10:39Speaker 1: you do?
- 10:39Speaker 5: The one where I did it, I, oh, I was
- 10:43Speaker 5: like a killer, but the way I killed people was
- 10:47Speaker 5: on my bike, and I'd drop a card off or
- 10:50Speaker 5: something like that, but then I also had aquaphobia.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Oh, so you was Luigi. What? Yeah, yeah. You was
- 10:56Speaker 1: Black Luigi. Yeah, I was Black Luigi. I think that's
- 10:59Speaker 1: the one where I, yeah, yeah, I did that one.
- 11:02Speaker 3: That's so crazy that Law & Order is such a
- 11:04Speaker 3: show where the same actor can be in like multiple
- 11:07Speaker 3: different episodes, put it in different capacities, and nobody bats
- 11:10Speaker 3: an eye.
- 11:10Speaker 1: No one cares. It's like a repertory to it. Yeah, yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 5: Remember when the whole cast of Oz was on Law
- 11:16Speaker 5: & Order?
- 11:16Speaker 1: What?
- 11:16Speaker 7: No!
- 11:18Speaker 5: Dude, everybody that you see on Law & Order maybe
- 11:21Speaker 5: is criminal intent or one of the Law & Orders.
- 11:23Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 11:23Speaker 5: But they always raping on Oz.
- 11:27Speaker 1: Oh, no. Let me tell you something. Have you never
- 11:30Speaker 1: seen Oz? They was raping. Yeah, that's them.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Raping, raping.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Oh, no. It got bad on there. They was putting
- 11:36Speaker 1: niggas in lipsticks. It was not positive, I think, the experience. No, no, no.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And then they come on Law & Order. They're like,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I'm here to defend. I'm here for justice. Nigga, I
- 11:47Speaker 1: just saw you. I just saw you carve the Aryans.
- 11:50Speaker 5: You carved that Aryan swastika in the butt on a
- 11:54Speaker 5: booty hole.
- 11:55Speaker 1: J.K. Simmons on his butt.
- 11:58Speaker 3: I just watched you two months ago hit a nigga
- 12:01Speaker 3: with a weight and.
- 12:02Speaker 1: Then shit in his mouth. Shit in his mouth. I
- 12:05Speaker 1: seen you do that. Yeah. You are nobody's lawyer, sir.
- 12:09Speaker 1: That's true.
- 12:10Speaker 5: Now you got whiplash? Now he has all this shit
- 12:12Speaker 5: in his mouth. That is something that happened a lot.
- 12:16Speaker 1: That's the arc. Now, honestly, when he did that, I
- 12:20Speaker 1: applauded because.
- 12:21Speaker 3: He deserved all of that shit because he was doing
- 12:25Speaker 3: him dirty. He was like a tax lawyer nigga that
- 12:28Speaker 3: drunk drive killed the kid. He gets in jail.
- 12:31Speaker 1: He's immediately bitched. Immediately. I like how we're explaining... I'm
- 12:36Speaker 1: about to say, we've talked about it, because that's his shit.
- 12:38Speaker 1: We've talked about it. I like seeing niggas in fear.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I've only seen like- I like watching niggas dominate other niggas.
- 12:44Speaker 3: That's why I like sports so much.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You love sports. I like nigga on nigga domination. Where
- 12:48Speaker 1: you going? Nigga on nigga domination.
- 12:50Speaker 5: What's funny is, when you watch it though, that's a
- 12:52Speaker 5: big part of it, but Harold Perrineau, who was on there,
- 12:55Speaker 5: he was paralyzed doing poetry every episode.
- 12:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. I was like- That's how they balanced it out.
- 13:00Speaker 5: They was like, yeah, it is rape.
- 13:02Speaker 1: But also, there's poetry. We talk about existentialism.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Like, nah, nigga. Oh, okay. You doing dope. Yeah. What
- 13:12Speaker 1: is your life like? What was your childhood? We're not
- 13:14Speaker 1: going to get into Oz, but yeah, Oz is wild.
- 13:15Speaker 1: It's a wild show. I'm going to watch it.
- 13:18Speaker 3: I got to go out and watch it. Bro, he
- 13:19Speaker 3: tries to escape getting raped by one nigga. He's so
- 13:22Speaker 3: scared of the black dude, he ends up just getting
- 13:24Speaker 3: raped by a white supremacist.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So lesson learned. Not funny, but mean.
- 13:29Speaker 1: Lesson learned, audience at home. Racism doesn't change your circumstance.
- 13:34Speaker 5: Don't be so scared of black people that you get
- 13:36Speaker 5: raped by a white supremacist.
- 13:39Speaker 1: The white thing is no worse than the black. At
- 13:42Speaker 1: least I got raped by a whitey. Oh, dang. Anyway,
- 13:47Speaker 1: I'm here to promote my show. There you go. Paranormal.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Talk about it. Getting the wrong press to the wrong show.
- 13:55Speaker 1: That's why I'm actually here. Yes. Let's talk about another show.
- 13:59Speaker 1: I'm glad we could transition. Yeah, man. But yeah, let's
- 14:03Speaker 1: talk about your show. Yeah, sure. Tell us about it,
- 14:06Speaker 1: what it is. Because we started it. Yeah, I came in.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Y'all was watching the show. I was like, oh, this
- 14:12Speaker 1: is good.
- 14:12Speaker 2: I started it the other day. And I will say,
- 14:15Speaker 2: so the way I- Hold on, stop. The show is
- 14:17Speaker 2: Average Joe.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Average Joe. Yeah, it's on Netflix.
- 14:20Speaker 5: The show is called Average Joe. Well, it was on
- 14:23Speaker 5: Paramount Plus. Then Netflix has the option. Well, we were
- 14:26Speaker 5: on BET Plus. BET Plus don't exist no more because
- 14:28Speaker 5: of the mergers and all this.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Sort of stuff. Yeah, it's weird waking up to- Did
- 14:33Speaker 1: it fold into Amazon or something like that? No, I
- 14:34Speaker 1: just told you. Paramount Plus. Oh, okay. All Paramount Plus. Yeah. Wait,
- 14:39Speaker 1: BET Plus is Paramount. You know what it is? No.
- 14:41Speaker 1: I'm confused because I get my Paramount Plus through Amazon Prime.
- 14:44Speaker 1: Can I tell you?
- 14:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So do I.
- 14:47Speaker 5: I get my Paramount Plus through Amazon Prime.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah. I get my Apple TV through Amazon Prime.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what the fuck you want.
- 14:53Speaker 1: Can I tell you? I don't know how any of
- 14:54Speaker 1: this works. I was on a whole different network. I
- 14:58Speaker 1: just showed up and said hello. The first year. The
- 15:00Speaker 1: first year I was on a different show.
- 15:01Speaker 5: I mean, for real though, you started on BET. I
- 15:04Speaker 5: started on BET Plus, kind of BET, and then they're like, hey,
- 15:07Speaker 5: this white man owns you now.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I was like, oh man, the economy. All right. That's crazy.
- 15:13Speaker 1: Oh man, the economy. It's crazy how even when the
- 15:15Speaker 1: economy goes bad, white men own more. You know what?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Talk about it. Next, you're going to end up on
- 15:22Speaker 1: Fox Soul. You know that? I was like, okay. Oh,
- 15:26Speaker 1: you never heard of that? Oh, yeah. That's a thing.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Fox Soul is a thing. That's their black fox. It's
- 15:30Speaker 1: called Fox Soul. Are you serious? That's a real thing?
- 15:32Speaker 1: That's where the guy looking up when he got time.
- 15:34Speaker 1: It's not going to be any black people you enjoy
- 15:36Speaker 1: spending time with. It's going to be like the fucking
- 15:39Speaker 1: Hodge twins. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's going to be a
- 15:43Speaker 1: whole lot of Hershel Walker. It's CNN, but it's like
- 15:47Speaker 1: Coon News that way.
- 15:48Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:49Speaker 1: It's brand new Coon Toon News. Coon Toon. Watch Coon 10.
- 15:52Speaker 5: That's crazy. But yeah, so we're on Paramount Plus now.
- 15:56Speaker 5: And basically what it is, it's a dark comedy thriller
- 16:01Speaker 5: type show. And Average Joe is played by Dion Cole.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yes.
- 16:05Speaker 5: And so basically, he finds out his father stole some
- 16:08Speaker 5: money from the mob. And after he dies, the debt
- 16:11Speaker 5: that his father owes gets put on to him and
- 16:13Speaker 5: his friends. And me, Cynthia K. McWilliams, who plays my wife,
- 16:18Speaker 5: Michael Trucco, who plays the cop, we're all friends and
- 16:20Speaker 5: we wound up getting wrapped up into this whole thing.
- 16:23Speaker 5: And so the first season takes place in Pittsburgh. And
- 16:27Speaker 5: then after everything that happens in the first season, the
- 16:29Speaker 5: second season takes place in Cape Town, South Africa.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Damn, that's- What a leap. Yeah, that's a joke.
- 16:35Speaker 1: A little bit. Yeah. I ain't get to the second season. No, no, no.
- 16:39Speaker 1: I ain't get to the second episode.
- 16:40Speaker 5: But I got to tell people it's on air already.
- 16:42Speaker 1: So it's finale today. Yeah. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:47Speaker 5: I hit y'all for the finale, man. That's crazy.
- 16:49Speaker 1: No way. That's love right there. That's love.
- 16:52Speaker 5: Yeah, well, it was more of a timing thing.
- 16:54Speaker 1: No, of course.
- 16:55Speaker 5: I'm going to take credit for that.
- 16:58Speaker 1: I can't release this unless I meet with Not That
- 17:00Speaker 1: Serious Podcast. You know what I mean? Out here.
- 17:03Speaker 5: Kena, LZ.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Big Mike. You niggas ain't got that. What the fuck?
- 17:12Speaker 1: I'm telling my girl that, and I'm getting some ass.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Get it. Hey, give your nigga some ass. My girl's
- 17:18Speaker 1: Puerto Rican. She don't know. I'm going to just tell
- 17:20Speaker 1: my mom.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Okay.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Okay. So, yeah, man.
- 17:25Speaker 3: So, when did you, like, did, who, were you involved
- 17:28Speaker 3: in the creation of the show?
- 17:30Speaker 1: Or you just got tapped out? I don't know. You interviewing. Yeah. Listen.
- 17:36Speaker 1: Real shit. We try. You know what I'm saying? Listen.
- 17:40Speaker 1: You know what the fuck. Hold on. First of all. Malcolm. Malcolm. Malcolm. Malcolm. Malcolm.
- 17:49Speaker 1: You came from Good Day America.
- 17:50Speaker 5: What?
- 17:51Speaker 1: Good day, New York.
- 17:53Speaker 3: You're the not that serious podcast right now. I am
- 18:00Speaker 3: currently on paternity leave at my real job.
- 18:02Speaker 1: I don't have no interviewing skills, my nigga. That's what
- 18:06Speaker 1: you came here for? Because that's what you came here for.
- 18:09Speaker 1: He said, hey, they let you pick your own shirt?
- 18:12Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, yo. They let you wipe your ass?
- 18:15Speaker 5: How'd that work?
- 18:16Speaker 1: They don't have a wipe-ass boy for you? Oh, my gosh.
- 18:20Speaker 1: All right.
- 18:22Speaker 5: Now that the veneer of the veil of professionalism is done.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Oh, God. I love this shit. This
- 18:28Speaker 1: is the question I really want to know. Barbara Walters. Oh,
- 18:31Speaker 1: my goodness. Yeah, nigga. I'm Gale King. Nigga said, you
- 18:36Speaker 1: know the whole time? Oh, all right. Yeah. I'm like, man.
- 18:43Speaker 1: They're trying to destroy me. Oh, my God. I got this. Oh, shit.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I ain't never been to Pittsburgh. Oh, shit. All right.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Now that that's done. Yeah, sure. Yeah, no.
- 18:55Speaker 3: You obviously, so you weren't involved with the creation of
- 18:58Speaker 3: the show?
- 18:58Speaker 1: No, man. Right, man. So what? Nah, man. Nah! Listen,
- 19:03Speaker 1: we just here, man. We out here. You ain't write
- 19:10Speaker 1: the show? Okay, that's cool. So you're just acting it.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You say a lot of the lines. That's what's up. Oh,
- 19:16Speaker 1: my God, man.
- 19:17Speaker 7: So you memorize these shit?
- 19:21Speaker 1: All them shit? Am I the first actor y'all had
- 19:23Speaker 1: on the show? Yeah, actually, yeah. Yeah. Because I saw,
- 19:26Speaker 1: I know, I think I had comedians or something.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Yeah, comedians that do some acting. But I don't think
- 19:30Speaker 2: that anybody's like.
- 19:32Speaker 5: No wonder I went to school for acting.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, like, yeah, you're the first. All right. Hey,
- 19:37Speaker 1: so you go. Can't you tell? Yeah, I was about
- 19:40Speaker 1: to say. No, no, I can.
- 19:41Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I was about to say, you can't tell. Actually, we
- 19:45Speaker 1: actually have A-list celebrities all the time. Yeah, yeah. This
- 19:48Speaker 1: nigga was like, hey, you know Shakespeare? Yes. So, Robert
- 19:51Speaker 1: De Niro, y'all cool? Yeah, we don't know how none
- 19:54Speaker 1: of that. I'm tired of y'all. I did a movie
- 19:55Speaker 1: with De Niro. Really? What movie was that?
- 19:57Speaker 5: It's not a popular movie.
- 19:59Speaker 1: It don't matter. It was called The Comeback Trail, I
- 20:01Speaker 1: think it was called. Still, I mean. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 20:04Speaker 5: He's cool.
- 20:04Speaker 1: He's cool. You know Robert De Niro? Yeah. Call him
- 20:07Speaker 1: right now. Yeah. I said we could play Who can
- 20:11Speaker 1: I call I can call Cynthia Erivo.
- 20:13Speaker 6: Oh shit okay I'm working with that Who's the most
- 20:17Speaker 6: famous person In your phone That you got the number
- 20:18Speaker 6: Yeah The.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Most famous person In my phone Because right now In
- 20:22Speaker 2: my phone is you Oh, yeah, you have my number.
- 20:26Speaker 1: We all have it now. Technically, yeah. Get ready for

- 20:36Speaker 1: as I have a kid. Hey, yo, Malk. Malk, I
- 20:38Speaker 1: just see the clip of you in the office. Yo,
- 20:40Speaker 1: call him Malk. He's crazy. Hey, yo, Malk. You didn't notice, nigga. Malk,
- 20:43Speaker 1: how was the office?
- 20:44Speaker 2: Hey man i got a baby shower next month obviously
- 20:49Speaker 2: an invitation just send me your address i'll let you
- 20:51Speaker 2: know when.
- 20:51Speaker 5: You send it i'll let you know it might be
- 20:53Speaker 5: it might be cynthia constance who else is famous lakeith
- 20:56Speaker 5: but he changes his number like every.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Week that does not surprise me.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Uh those are probably my top three famous people i
- 21:03Speaker 1: got in here nice yeah that's cool that's nice.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Yeah no like he was written cynthia revo yeah man
- 21:08Speaker 3: yeah that was someone that was like buddy buddy and
- 21:10Speaker 3: uh Very, very touchy with Ariana Grande.
- 21:13Speaker 1: That's cool, right? That's a great get. That's a good one.
- 21:17Speaker 1: That's a great one, actually. Oh, fantastic. Deon Cole? Yeah.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I got it. What is it like working with Deon Cole?
- 21:26Speaker 1: That was going to be my question.
- 21:27Speaker 2: That man is so, like, I've been following him for
- 21:29Speaker 2: like a long time back when he was like an
- 21:31Speaker 2: early comic and he was doing comic review.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:36Speaker 1: When the nigga was over there making jokes about people's mustaches. Yes.
- 21:40Speaker 1: Like that far back. What is it like working with
- 21:42Speaker 1: him on the, On set.
- 21:44Speaker 5: So let me tell you, I was a big fan,
- 21:46Speaker 5: and still am, of Deon Cole's comedy. He is probably
- 21:50Speaker 5: one of my favorite stand-ups working today. I just love
- 21:54Speaker 5: his slow delivery, and he's.
- 21:55Speaker 1: A fun dude.
- 21:57Speaker 5: What's funny is, this is his first lead role, and
- 22:02Speaker 5: he's been breaking in movies like crazy over.
- 22:04Speaker 1: The last couple years.
- 22:06Speaker 5: And we talk about, he's not like, a buffoonery type
- 22:11Speaker 5: comic no no do you know what i mean he's
- 22:13Speaker 5: like a regular like dude and they'll just say stuff
- 22:16Speaker 5: that's like interesting to him whereas me i'm just like i'm.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Like what.
- 22:28Speaker 5: Right so but it's fun it's fun it's silly you
- 22:31Speaker 5: know and the show like he's a he's a cool
- 22:34Speaker 5: dude to work with like he he talks about into
- 22:37Speaker 5: doing this, and I think he's fallen into it really well.
- 22:41Speaker 5: A lot of the stuff is serious, and that's the
- 22:43Speaker 5: thing about comics. If you look at a lot of
- 22:46Speaker 5: stand-ups that turn into dramatic acting, a lot of them
- 22:49Speaker 5: do really freaking well. Adam Sandler, when he takes a
- 22:52Speaker 5: serious turn, or Robin Williams, when he would take serious turns.
- 22:57Speaker 5: Cats do that, and they're always so surprising. I think
- 22:59Speaker 5: it's because a lot of stand-ups are probably really dark
- 23:02Speaker 5: inside and are dealing with things.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Does that make sense? That's what it comes from.
- 23:07Speaker 3: They just tap into the sadness and just go in
- 23:08Speaker 3: another direction. This is literally just diverting the energy.
- 23:11Speaker 1: Yeah, that's all that is. Yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 3: And like, so, yeah, because the interesting thing about Deon
- 23:16Speaker 3: Cole is like that comedy obviously has grown on me
- 23:20Speaker 3: with time because.
- 23:21Speaker 1: Like when you're younger, because the comedy was out when
- 23:24Speaker 1: we were probably like what? Middle school. 10, middle school.
- 23:27Speaker 1: And you see a guy go up there and he
- 23:29Speaker 1: just lists a joke and he goes, well, that didn't work.
- 23:30Speaker 1: And then cross it out. Cross it out on the
- 23:32Speaker 1: literal day. I'm like, what the fuck is going on?
- 23:35Speaker 3: And then like you see like, oh, no, that's great.
- 23:37Speaker 3: And you just see that growth. So it's just interesting.
- 23:39Speaker 3: It's like he's definitely not a buffoonery group, but he
- 23:42Speaker 3: was in that group of like he was surrounded by,
- 23:45Speaker 3: I guess, in a non-derogatory term, more animated and buffoonery
- 23:50Speaker 3: type guys.
- 23:53Speaker 1: So, yeah, it's just interesting seeing that.
- 23:56Speaker 3: And it's just like, how do you feel like seeing
- 23:59Speaker 3: that growth?
- 24:00Speaker 1: And you said you went to school for acting. Yeah.
- 24:03Speaker 1: And where did you go to school for acting? I
- 24:05Speaker 1: love this serious. I like it. You see that? I
- 24:10Speaker 1: can tap into it a little bit. No, I dig it.
- 24:12Speaker 1: You see the little hamster in there running. I'm really
- 24:15Speaker 1: proud of you.
- 24:16Speaker 4: It's like waves, man.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I like it. I'm sorry if I interrupted. The dichotomy. No, no,
- 24:23Speaker 1: I like the words. I went to NYU. I went
- 24:26Speaker 1: to NYU for theater school.
- 24:28Speaker 5: Where are you from?
- 24:29Speaker 1: I'm from Brooklyn. I'm from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, Fort Greene, Clinton Hills.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Little bit of the Bronx. Pulaski between Marcus Garvey and Lewis.
- 24:36Speaker 5: Used to take the 38 bus to 113. PS11 was
- 24:41Speaker 5: my elementary school. Kings County Hospital.
- 24:43Speaker 3: All of that. So where did you go to high school?
- 24:46Speaker 3: Because I'm so interested. Because my girl's from Brooklyn. She's
- 24:50Speaker 3: from Canarsie, right?
- 24:51Speaker 1: Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Is she Puerto Rican or black?
- 24:53Speaker 1: She's black. Okay. Sister's over here. Okay. But what I
- 24:58Speaker 1: was asking was....
- 25:01Speaker 3: I know that New York school system is so interesting
- 25:03Speaker 3: to me because it's so different from down here. Like,
- 25:04Speaker 3: you get to choose your high school.
- 25:07Speaker 1: Kind of. You got to take a test or something
- 25:08Speaker 1: for it, right? Well, yeah.
- 25:09Speaker 5: I went to Stuyvesant, so you had to take a
- 25:11Speaker 5: test to get in there. And at the time, it
- 25:13Speaker 5: was like the number one math and science high school.
- 25:15Speaker 5: So it was like Stuyvesant, Brooklyn Tech, Bronx Science. And
- 25:20Speaker 5: then I got into Stuyvesant, which is a really weird thing.
- 25:24Speaker 5: It would be like going from Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn, to Stuyvesant.
- 25:27Speaker 5: Because I'm trying to learn, but I'm hungry, and I
- 25:29Speaker 5: already have four fights.
- 25:33Speaker 1: You're an actor and you went to the best high school.
- 25:35Speaker 1: You got bullied a lot. No, I ain't got bullied.
- 25:38Speaker 1: I got in the fights.
- 25:40Speaker 5: I mean, I definitely was always in the nerd class
- 25:43Speaker 5: of things. So it was like, I mean, I don't
- 25:45Speaker 5: know if I got bullied. There was one kid, but
- 25:47Speaker 5: that was fun. What's his name?
- 25:50Speaker 1: I know you know it. I don't know. Some ghetto shit.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 25:52Speaker 5: I don't think he made it.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Laquan, fuck you. Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, he didn't make it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: He's probably dead by now. I'm not even worried about him. Yeah,
- 26:01Speaker 1: he's probably equipped that dog.
- 26:03Speaker 5: He didn't make it out.
- 26:04Speaker 1: Hey, fuck that nigga. I didn't have to beat him.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Life did.
- 26:10Speaker 7: The systems that are out there.
- 26:13Speaker 1: Are systems already in place. Yeah, there was systems in place.
- 26:17Speaker 1: To make sure he'd never win. I just let the
- 26:20Speaker 1: machine do its thing. Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 26:22Speaker 1: I'm like, go ahead, Matrix. I just sit back and
- 26:25Speaker 1: watch the show. I learn to fight later. Go ahead, Matrix.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Do your thing. Do your big one. Good luck fighting
- 26:31Speaker 1: the dirt in the world, buddy. Yeah, buddy. Hey, see
- 26:34Speaker 1: you in hell.
- 26:38Speaker 5: But yeah, no, I definitely got jumped a couple times.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I won a whole lot of single fights.
- 26:45Speaker 1: What the fuck was you doing that you got jumped?
- 26:47Speaker 1: Living life in the hood. My bad for trying to
- 26:51Speaker 1: pursue happiness. Pretty much. That's him right there. This nigga's
- 26:57Speaker 1: mama loves him. That's all it takes sometimes. That's all
- 27:01Speaker 1: it takes.
- 27:01Speaker 5: No, I got jumped off the J train one time.
- 27:04Speaker 5: I remember I got jumped by like, I think I
- 27:06Speaker 5: was 17 and like a mob of 11 year olds
- 27:10Speaker 5: was trying to jump me or 12. I don't know
- 27:13Speaker 5: how old they was. But there was one dude that
- 27:14Speaker 5: was my age. I was like, do you want to
- 27:16Speaker 5: take care of these? There was like seven kids. I
- 27:18Speaker 5: was like, can you get these kids off me?
- 27:20Speaker 1: He was a nigga with a bunch of Oliver Twist.
- 27:22Speaker 1: He got orphanage. He was a nigga with a pie
- 27:24Speaker 1: pipe of niggas.
- 27:25Speaker 2: Niggas sent a whole bunch of little kids.
- 27:29Speaker 5: I was like, am I supposed to beat up all
- 27:31Speaker 5: these little kids? I was like, can you just get
- 27:33Speaker 5: them off me?
- 27:34Speaker 1: He was like, all right, let's go. All right, man.
- 27:37Speaker 1: I was like, it's so weird. But yeah, I used
- 27:40Speaker 1: to have a lot of fights. It's fine. It's funny.
- 27:43Speaker 6: When you were that age or going into school, was
- 27:46Speaker 6: acting always like, yeah, that's what I want to do?
- 27:49Speaker 5: Yes and no. When I was younger, I was class
- 27:54Speaker 5: clown in a lot of ways. I even wrote stories
- 27:57Speaker 5: and did that and was in little plays here and there.
- 28:00Speaker 5: But also, I loved that, but I also thought I
- 28:03Speaker 5: was going to be a biologist because I was doing science.
- 28:07Speaker 1: But then by... I was in Science Skills Center, which.
- 28:10Speaker 5: Was like this black-led program from Bob Moses that was popular.
- 28:14Speaker 5: The Algebra Project was a big thing. So I thought
- 28:20Speaker 5: I might be going in there, but then by junior year,
- 28:24Speaker 5: high school year, I was probably more interested in the
- 28:27Speaker 5: acting side of things. I had gotten an agent who
- 28:31Speaker 5: needed- In high school? Senior year of high school, yeah.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Somebody I knew was- interning or assisting there, and I
- 28:37Speaker 5: did a play, and I think her agent, Penny Ludke,
- 28:39Speaker 5: shout you out, my very first agent, she needed young
- 28:43Speaker 5: black men who could sing, and I was two out
- 28:45Speaker 5: of three. I was young and black.
- 28:48Speaker 8: I was definitely young and black.
- 28:52Speaker 1: I was like, you're going to hear some notes off camera.
- 28:54Speaker 1: I was like, ooh. No, you will get no notes.
- 28:58Speaker 5: And so I wound up getting an agent straight out
- 29:01Speaker 5: of there.
- 29:01Speaker 1: I did some monologue from.
- 29:04Speaker 5: Actually, I did a monologue from West Side Story because
- 29:07Speaker 5: I played Lieutenant Shrank, which is like, most of y'all
- 29:10Speaker 5: know Officer Krupke, but in the play was Lieutenant Shrank.
- 29:14Speaker 1: And it was really weird.
- 29:15Speaker 5: Because at first I was Krupke, then they made me Shrank,
- 29:18Speaker 5: which is weird because the character is racist.
- 29:21Speaker 1: And I went to a mostly white and Asian school. Mm-hmm.
- 29:25Speaker 1: That's crazy. That could be a situation. That is actually self-conflicting.
- 29:28Speaker 2: Where's the one I was about to put the koofy on?
- 29:31Speaker 2: Where is the koofy?
- 29:33Speaker 5: Yeah, the sharks were like just a bunch of Asians
- 29:36Speaker 5: and Gabe. Like this one dude.
- 29:38Speaker 1: A bunch of tiger sharks.
- 29:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 1: It was so weird because it was like I literally
- 29:42Speaker 1: have a line that was like.
- 29:43Speaker 5: I got the badge, you got the skin.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Jesus Christ.
- 29:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 29:48Speaker 1: My man went full Uncle Ruckus. Yeah, yeah. And I
- 29:51Speaker 1: remember my friend's dad was Italian. He was like, yeah,
- 29:54Speaker 1: the kid was good except for that skin line.
- 29:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:56Speaker 1: I was like, yeah. You know, but it's like, you know,
- 29:59Speaker 1: we're 17, man. Like, you know.
- 30:01Speaker 3: So what was the flashpoint that was like, oh, I
- 30:03Speaker 3: want to do acting? Like, what was the moment?
- 30:07Speaker 1: You know what?
- 30:07Speaker 5: I had done enough plays in, like, just high school
- 30:13Speaker 5: and had done, like, some ones, like, some really deep
- 30:15Speaker 5: stuff that, like, people really dug and it seemed like
- 30:17Speaker 5: it was going to be something. And then, honestly, just
- 30:21Speaker 5: having that intern who was like, this agent does this, blah, blah.
- 30:24Speaker 5: I was like, once I had an agent, It was like, oh,
- 30:26Speaker 5: I'm in the game now.
- 30:27Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 30:27Speaker 5: Like, once I got to meet them. So, you know,
- 30:30Speaker 5: since I was 18 years old, I've had an agent,
- 30:32Speaker 5: you know.
- 30:33Speaker 1: So, like, when you got out of high school, did
- 30:34Speaker 1: you just, like, obviously you went to NYU. Yeah.
- 30:37Speaker 3: How fast, like, did you hit the ground running with, like,
- 30:38Speaker 3: trying to, like, book gigs and different things like that?
- 30:41Speaker 1: Yes and no, because also the school didn't like you
- 30:43Speaker 1: to work. Oh, really?
- 30:45Speaker 5: It's not like business school where, like, if you work
- 30:47Speaker 5: at Wall Street, they're like, way to go. Like, here
- 30:49Speaker 5: they're like, you missed your class. And I'm like, I
- 30:52Speaker 5: had to do law and order so I could pay
- 30:55Speaker 5: for class. I was like, I'm poor. These classes don't
- 31:01Speaker 5: pay for themselves. But yeah, I think the first real
- 31:04Speaker 5: official television gig I got was, this is how old
- 31:08Speaker 5: this first job was. It was for ESPN2 for a promo.
- 31:13Speaker 5: And the tagline was like, are you old school? And actually,
- 31:17Speaker 5: I shot it in Jersey. Where's Sinatra from? Hoboken. So
- 31:22Speaker 5: I shot it in Hoboken. And the diner I was in,
- 31:26Speaker 5: there was a picture, like a mug shot of Frank
- 31:28Speaker 5: Sinatra or something like that.
- 31:29Speaker 1: I was like, oh, Sinatra's like, that's like ODB for
- 31:32Speaker 1: white people. I'm really excited. And I think his charges
- 31:37Speaker 1: were adultery.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Some shit like that.
- 31:41Speaker 3: Imagine he's gonna go to jail for that yeah what'd
- 31:45Speaker 3: you go to jail for hitting it.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Taking your bitch like it's an arrestable offense.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Back then that's crazy yeah and so i guess like
- 31:58Speaker 3: were you obviously you were was it like what was
- 32:00Speaker 3: it like going into that first role like when you're
- 32:02Speaker 3: like okay It was great, because I was like, I
- 32:05Speaker 3: grew up from Brooklyn, so I idolized Eddie Murphy in
- 32:07Speaker 3: terms of entertainers and stuff like that. So in my head,
- 32:11Speaker 3: I was going to be the next Eddie Murphy, especially
- 32:14Speaker 3: when I started doing stand-up.
- 32:15Speaker 5: I was like, these niggas, y'all are lucky to have me.
- 32:19Speaker 5: You don't know what they got. I was so excited
- 32:23Speaker 5: when I first did stand-up.
- 32:24Speaker 1: So you started where acting did this stand-up. What was
- 32:27Speaker 1: that transition like? Usually it's the other way around, right?
- 32:29Speaker 5: I just did everything I could.
- 32:31Speaker 1: I was just one of those people. I was doing stand-up.
- 32:33Speaker 1: I was rapping. I was doing poetry. You was rapping?
- 32:35Speaker 5: I was rapping. I was a battle rapper for like years.
- 32:38Speaker 1: What? Battle rapper?
- 32:39Speaker 5: I got like three albums.
- 32:40Speaker 1: You're lying. I'm not lying. What was your rap name?
- 32:44Speaker 1: What was your rap name? Verbal the Rapper. Verbal the Rapper?
- 32:47Speaker 5: Now, my first rap name was Tourette's.
- 32:51Speaker 1: So he definitely had to change that. Name of the
- 32:53Speaker 1: episode right there. That's the name. I loved it. I
- 32:56Speaker 1: was like, it was just spelled like regular Tourette's. Like Tourette's.
- 32:59Speaker 5: I was like, my rap name is Tourette's because you
- 33:01Speaker 5: never know what I'm going to say.
- 33:02Speaker 1: Fuck. I had a tagline. Bitch. You know what I'm saying?
- 33:10Speaker 1: Be mint bar and just start cursing. This is Carson Daly.
- 33:13Speaker 1: This is TRL. We got Tourette's in the building.
- 33:16Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Fuck.
- 33:16Speaker 2: Shit.
- 33:16Speaker 1: Bitch. Yeah, it did. I was like, oh, this is
- 33:19Speaker 1: fitting to blow up.
- 33:24Speaker 5: Uh, but yeah, I was, I was battle rapping and
- 33:26Speaker 5: then doing slam poetry. I was like on a Nuyorican
- 33:29Speaker 5: poetry team and all of that.
- 33:31Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. You was really just dipping your toe in everything.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I was doing everything, man.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Anything I could. I went to school for directing, for
- 33:38Speaker 5: directing theater. Um, so it was just, you know, science kid,
- 33:43Speaker 5: arts kid, whatever. I was just doing whatever was interesting.
- 33:46Speaker 5: And then the first thing to really take up, actually
- 33:48Speaker 5: rapping was going for a while and poetry was going,
- 33:51Speaker 5: I was like, doing tours and going across the country, colleges,
- 33:58Speaker 5: but acting is really the first thing that really was
- 34:01Speaker 5: paying me consistently. Like I did a play called Wit,
- 34:05Speaker 5: which got a Pulitzer Prize and that was my first
- 34:08Speaker 5: national tour with Judith Light. And so I was on
- 34:11Speaker 5: tour for like six months and I would see Judith
- 34:15Speaker 5: Light from behind naked every day for like six months,
- 34:18Speaker 5: which is cool.
- 34:18Speaker 1: She was a, she was a pretty lady for her age.
- 34:23Speaker 1: You can't see it. I could see it. I have
- 34:27Speaker 1: the mental images. Yeah.
- 34:28Speaker 5: I got those images still in grief. And it's a,
- 34:30Speaker 5: it's also the first time I was consistently smoking weed
- 34:32Speaker 5: by myself. Cause I was like, I was 18. And
- 34:36Speaker 5: then the second youngest person involved in the show was 32.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Damn. Okay. That's a game. Yeah.
- 34:41Speaker 5: So I was just, I was just lonely. I'm just
- 34:43Speaker 5: on tour.
- 34:43Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:44Speaker 5: Yeah. Right. I was just on tour for six months
- 34:47Speaker 5: in hotels by myself, and I couldn't drink, because I
- 34:51Speaker 5: couldn't go to a bar, and stuff like that. Rob Markman,
- 34:53Speaker 5: So you needed a device. Rob Markman, So I just
- 34:55Speaker 5: was in my.
- 34:55Speaker 1: Place smoking weed, and the part wasn't that hard. Rob Markman,
- 34:59Speaker 1: That's tough. Rob Markman, Yeah, it was easy. Rob Markman,
- 35:01Speaker 1: You definitely took acting a lot more seriously than I did.
- 35:03Speaker 1: Rob Markman, Yeah, he. Rob Markman, Oh, yeah. Rob Markman,
- 35:06Speaker 1: Go ahead. Rob Markman, That's our thespian, but- Rob Markman,
- 35:07Speaker 1: Were you a child actor or something?
- 35:09Speaker 5: I wanted to be. Oh, that's not... I guess that's
- 35:12Speaker 5: a thing.
- 35:13Speaker 1: Honestly... Wanting to be... Exactly.
- 35:15Speaker 5: Wanting to be a child actor is... I'll vouch for him.
- 35:19Speaker 1: He should have been. Okay. His parents didn't let him. Oh. Yeah, so, like,
- 35:24Speaker 1: I did a couple plays in middle school and high school.
- 35:27Speaker 5: Okay.
- 35:27Speaker 2: Did a couple auditions. There was one agent that wanted
- 35:30Speaker 2: to fly me out to L.A. to see where he could, like,
- 35:32Speaker 2: mark me for a few months.
- 35:33Speaker 7: But.
- 35:35Speaker 2: But my parents was like, yeah, we can't afford that
- 35:38Speaker 2: because it's not guaranteed money.
- 35:39Speaker 5: You can't afford the trauma.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Well. That too. Well, you know what?
- 35:43Speaker 2: I don't think I would have had the trauma because
- 35:45Speaker 2: my parents definitely would have been one of the child
- 35:50Speaker 2: actors that didn't get into all the drugs and sex
- 35:52Speaker 2: rings because my parents would have been all in my
- 35:54Speaker 2: ass like, you ain't going there.
- 35:56Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I couldn't spend the night over my
- 35:57Speaker 1: friend's houses for like- Down the street. Oh, really? Yeah. Yeah.
- 36:01Speaker 2: I've had the same friends since probably like first, second grade.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Kenan has had an interesting.
- 36:06Speaker 3: Are.
- 36:06Speaker 1: You Jamaican or African? I'm just Nick. Close. Oh, just
- 36:08Speaker 1: a regular nigga? Just regular. Almost Jehovah's Witness. And that's
- 36:14Speaker 1: the same thing we said when we found out. No, no, no.
- 36:17Speaker 1: When I was older than realized. No, no, no. See,
- 36:20Speaker 1: they just always just go to Jehovah's... That's my mom.
- 36:22Speaker 1: My father's a Baptist.
- 36:23Speaker 2: So it's two different religions, but they're just like... Jump
- 36:27Speaker 2: on a Jehovah's Witness.
- 36:28Speaker 5: There was a Jehovah Witness adjacent. Sure.
- 36:31Speaker 1: It was a Jehovah Watcher. Jehovah Watcher? Jehovah Bystander. He
- 36:37Speaker 1: was a Jehovah listener. I heard what you said, Jehovah.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I was. A Jehovah East. A Jehovah Bystander. There's a watchtower?
- 36:50Speaker 1: He went Jehovah like this. He said, what? He's at
- 36:53Speaker 1: the door, Jehovah's at the other side. We said, what? Well,
- 36:56Speaker 1: I heard that. Okay.
- 36:58Speaker 2: But yeah, no, I just, and then after a while,
- 37:01Speaker 2: I was just like, yeah, this is probably not going
- 37:02Speaker 2: to be in the cards for me. So I started
- 37:04Speaker 2: coaching basketball and got a real job.
- 37:06Speaker 1: So it was just, yeah. What's your real job now?
- 37:09Speaker 2: So my real job now is I track watermelon deliveries.
- 37:14Speaker 1: Crazy. That feels racist. It does. But the thing is-
- 37:17Speaker 1: You track watermelons? But here's the thing, though. Here's the thing.
- 37:19Speaker 5: That's a government op.
- 37:20Speaker 1: Here's the thing, though. It's a psyop. I mean, if
- 37:22Speaker 1: somebody's going to get paid for watermelons, why not us, right? Okay. Right?
- 37:25Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying? Watermelons. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:29Speaker 1: I'm not going to press away the stereotype. Yeah. Somebody's
- 37:32Speaker 1: going to. Somebody else is going to do it. And
- 37:36Speaker 1: it's a big conglomerate. We deliver it. We're the biggest
- 37:39Speaker 1: watermelon delivery on the East Coast. You... You got to
- 37:44Speaker 1: take pride in your work.
- 37:45Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:45Speaker 1: You track watermelons? I track watermelons. Is that a thing? Yes. Yeah,
- 37:49Speaker 1: because our men's is like, One of the top joints.
- 37:53Speaker 5: One of the top watermelon sellers.
- 37:54Speaker 1: Yeah. So he got a whole business where- So he
- 37:56Speaker 1: got a business. Okay. Essentially- So he brought you in?
- 37:59Speaker 1: He brought me in.
- 38:00Speaker 5: Oh.
- 38:00Speaker 1: He put you under his watermelon wing? Real nigga. Yeah, yeah. Malcolm.
- 38:03Speaker 1: Real nigga. Niggas make money. Oh, yeah? I like watermelon.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Them niggas make money. What are we doing?
- 38:12Speaker 3: It's him and the nigga that sells 40, the Colonel.
- 38:16Speaker 1: Hey, I track St. Ides. There's a St. Ides being
- 38:22Speaker 1: drunk and I know where. Listen, we're still reeling from
- 38:26Speaker 1: the death of Nate Dogg. Oh, that's fair. Great, great commercial,
- 38:32Speaker 1: by the way. That nigga was singing his ass off.
- 38:34Speaker 1: Was he? Oh, you never heard that? Which was that?
- 38:36Speaker 1: He's like, St. Ives. He has a commercial. We'll play
- 38:40Speaker 1: for you. Yeah, it's been a while. He was doing
- 38:42Speaker 1: this thing on that, John. He was like, what I'm
- 38:44Speaker 1: looking for, St. Ives. I'm like, okay. Oh, okay.
- 38:48Speaker 5: He's a perfect person to sell.
- 38:50Speaker 1: 40 ounces. The perfect nigga. I don't know why there
- 38:56Speaker 1: was a second thought. It's him and then Loke Dog.
- 38:59Speaker 1: What are we doing? An LV from Gangsta's Paradise. Yo,
- 39:06Speaker 1: dead ass. I'd buy a 40 from any of them.
- 39:08Speaker 3: They can sell me a 40 anytime. He tracks watermelons.
- 39:15Speaker 5: That's dope, man.
- 39:16Speaker 1: That's cool.
- 39:17Speaker 2: And right now we on the of the season.
- 39:19Speaker 5: Oh, the watermelon game?
- 39:20Speaker 1: It's getting cold outside. Yeah, it's getting cold outside. That
- 39:23Speaker 1: means people want watermelon in October, November, December. Oh, that's crazy.
- 39:27Speaker 1: So like, you know, the summer, spring months, that's when I...
- 39:29Speaker 1: That's when they think season. Oh, that's crazy. So right now,
- 39:31Speaker 1: I'm actually pretty much chilling. So that's why we could
- 39:34Speaker 1: do this podcast. Yeah! That's why we're here on a Wednesday.
- 39:36Speaker 1: That's why we're here on a Wednesday. Unemployed. Partially unemployed. Paternally. Okay. Paternally.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I'm a full-time DJ in school. Oh, no. I saw
- 39:47Speaker 1: on your page that you be DJing. Yeah, I'm a DJ. Yeah,
- 39:49Speaker 1: that's what I do. And then you a dad? Yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: I'm a new dad. My kid's eight months. Eight months, yeah.
- 39:56Speaker 1: How long do you get paternally leave?
- 39:57Speaker 3: So the way I structured it is that you can
- 39:59Speaker 3: either take it straight up for like 60 days or something,
- 40:02Speaker 3: or you can space it out. And I space it
- 40:03Speaker 3: out to where I get two days a week. And
- 40:05Speaker 3: it goes from like till the end of the year.
- 40:07Speaker 1: 60 days feels like not enough. No, it's not.
- 40:11Speaker 5: For a child.
- 40:12Speaker 1: Yeah. No, it's not. It truly is not.
- 40:16Speaker 3: And then it was like they wait very long to
- 40:19Speaker 3: give you your money that they owe you for the leave.
- 40:21Speaker 3: So it's like, I just actually called them today. They
- 40:25Speaker 3: were like, oh, yeah, it's going to be 10 to
- 40:26Speaker 3: 11 weeks before we think.
- 40:28Speaker 1: About paying you. They know you got a kid, too?
- 40:31Speaker 1: They know it. They know it. I sent them the
- 40:34Speaker 1: nigga's birth certificate. They know. They know. And it was like, oh, formula?
- 40:40Speaker 1: That's crazy. 10 to 11 weeks until you get your money.
- 40:43Speaker 1: That's crazy. Yeah, man. This is it.
- 40:47Speaker 5: Where do you work?
- 40:50Speaker 1: I work for a government job.
- 40:54Speaker 5: Oh, the post office?
- 40:55Speaker 1: No. I love that you assumed that. You can go
- 40:58Speaker 1: to hell, actually. This fat ass nigga must be a postman. No.
- 41:06Speaker 1: He's sitting through the night. He's driving around. Must be
- 41:09Speaker 1: driving a bus here.
- 41:10Speaker 5: You drive a bus, nigga?
- 41:12Speaker 1: You drive a 53.
- 41:12Speaker 2: You collecting tokens, don't you? Wait, last time you had
- 41:22Speaker 2: to throw somebody off.
- 41:23Speaker 1: That's a great time. What'd you do when they crossed
- 41:26Speaker 1: the line?
- 41:26Speaker 5: What'd you do when you see a nigga in a wheelchair?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Don't you hate when they slow down the whole ride?
- 41:34Speaker 2: Gotta spend 20 minutes to put the bike on the
- 41:38Speaker 2: front of the bus.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Alright, can we all agree that that shit is annoying
- 41:40Speaker 1: as fuck though? Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm like, man. When
- 41:43Speaker 1: you in a rush, it's like... Fuck. I never care...
- 41:48Speaker 1: Where this nigga got to be so fast?
- 41:49Speaker 5: I never care less about the handicapped than when I'm
- 41:52Speaker 5: on a bus in a rush.
- 41:54Speaker 1: And that shit go... That shit make all the sounds.
- 41:57Speaker 5: When I'm on the way to a job interview, that
- 42:00Speaker 5: could be the difference between me being on this bus
- 42:03Speaker 5: and not being on this bus anymore.
- 42:05Speaker 1: I'm like... How much in a rush is he, though?
- 42:09Speaker 1: There's no way he's got to be somewhere fast. You're
- 42:12Speaker 1: telling me they told him he has to be there
- 42:13Speaker 1: by 10?
- 42:14Speaker 2: Don't they got special buses for him?
- 42:17Speaker 1: I know there's a state budget for this. Where's the
- 42:20Speaker 1: access link? Nigga, get an Uber. Get a rickshaw.
- 42:24Speaker 7: Isn't there a horse and buggy that can pick this
- 42:27Speaker 7: nigga up or something?
- 42:28Speaker 1: Don't you got a cousin that can push you there? Something.
- 42:31Speaker 1: That's horrible. You already on wheels. That job is done.
- 42:35Speaker 1: That's the difference between wheels on wheels. He's actually lazy.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Put a motor on that bitch and get zooming.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I'd love to have wheels. He said he's actually lazy. Actually,
- 42:45Speaker 1: he's a fucking bozer. Yeah.
- 42:48Speaker 5: He's a fucking freerider.
- 42:50Speaker 1: He's a fucking freeloader. Getting paralyzed and taking the bus.
- 42:52Speaker 1: This is what Trump was talking about. Ugh. All the
- 42:55Speaker 1: wasted abuse. You know, if there's two things I hate,
- 42:57Speaker 1: it's niggers and handicaps. Click that. All right. That was
- 43:04Speaker 1: a joke.
- 43:04Speaker 5: There it is.
- 43:07Speaker 1: Watch it. Oh, my God.
- 43:10Speaker 5: It's not that serious.
- 43:11Speaker 1: No, it's not. And that's why we named it that.
- 43:13Speaker 1: That was like literally one of the first 19 names.
- 43:16Speaker 6: Yeah, we had a bunch of stickers.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Where's your top three horrible names for this podcast? Oh.
- 43:23Speaker 3: I had to find that. It's hard to reach back
- 43:27Speaker 3: into those depressive years.
- 43:29Speaker 1: We started nine years ago. Nine? Yeah.
- 43:33Speaker 6: Because it was just the two of us at first,
- 43:35Speaker 6: and then we just expanded into this.
- 43:37Speaker 1: I was just unemployed for a year, and I was very,
- 43:39Speaker 1: very sad. And I was like, all right, what do
- 43:41Speaker 1: we do? Yeah, we both lived in our mom's basement. Yeah.
- 43:44Speaker 1: And now we have a studio. So, yeah.
- 43:46Speaker 3: And then we just started a podcast, and then we
- 43:48Speaker 3: just didn't stop, even though I was very sure we
- 43:50Speaker 3: were going to stop within the next.
- 43:52Speaker 1: The first six months.
- 43:53Speaker 5: That's the hard thing about podcasts. I've started some version
- 43:55Speaker 5: of things and it's just hard to keep going for
- 43:57Speaker 5: that long. Especially if like, if I don't have momentum immediately,
- 44:01Speaker 5: I'm like, I quit.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Right.
- 44:02Speaker 6: And that's what, I mean, it was because at first
- 44:04Speaker 6: we didn't do it to like gain anything from it.
- 44:07Speaker 1: We just thought we were funny.
- 44:08Speaker 6: And we're like, Oh, we should record this shit.
- 44:10Speaker 1: So we did. And then people kept listening and they
- 44:13Speaker 1: kept listening. And then we brought on Lamont. We brought
- 44:15Speaker 1: on Keenan. Yeah. Q first.
- 44:17Speaker 5: Yeah. Oh yeah.
- 44:17Speaker 1: Q as well.
- 44:18Speaker 6: Um, we had a guy that was doing the video.
- 44:20Speaker 6: It kind of helped us out with that. And then
- 44:22Speaker 6: we had a clip that went viral.
- 44:24Speaker 1: And we just never stopped.
- 44:24Speaker 5: What was the clip that went viral?
- 44:25Speaker 6: It was a clip of Kenan talking about how much
- 44:27Speaker 6: he didn't like spaghetti and he thought it was a
- 44:28Speaker 6: struggle meal.
- 44:29Speaker 5: It is a struggle meal. Depends on how it's made.
- 44:32Speaker 5: If it's served on a paper plate. If it's served
- 44:35Speaker 5: on a paper plate at night.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 44:37Speaker 2: Even if it's on your mom's fine china. Because you
- 44:39Speaker 2: know that she made enough to last you the week.
- 44:41Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. You're going to have a lot. She didn't
- 44:43Speaker 1: make a single night's worth of spaghetti.
- 44:45Speaker 3: That's funny because I literally have a huge.
- 44:47Speaker 1: Pot of spaghetti. No, yeah, bro. My mom used to
- 44:48Speaker 1: find the biggest pan and make spaghetti in it. It
- 44:51Speaker 1: was like a wok. Like, oh, yeah, that's it.
- 44:55Speaker 2: But what made the clip go viral is the fact
- 44:57Speaker 2: that it's not actually spaghetti noodles because my dad is
- 44:59Speaker 2: a child and he don't like spaghetti noodles. So I
- 45:02Speaker 2: was eating spaghetti with elbow macaroni.
- 45:05Speaker 1: No. Yes. Nah. I actually forgot about this. I don't
- 45:14Speaker 1: accept it. I don't like that. That's a clip right there.
- 45:18Speaker 1: I disagree. Fundamentally. Spaghetti and meatballs with elbow macaroni.
- 45:25Speaker 3: The meatballs just actually fuck you. That's diabolical. But he
- 45:30Speaker 3: loved me enough to drop me off today.
- 45:32Speaker 1: Hey, I saw that too when I was in my Suburban.
- 45:37Speaker 6: In my big ass black truck out there.
- 45:40Speaker 1: I'm getting dropped off in the fire. Fighting to stay
- 45:42Speaker 1: in the space too.
- 45:43Speaker 5: That nigga squeezed in that bitch.
- 45:46Speaker 1: I saw him. This bitch came out like Sanford and Son.
- 45:49Speaker 1: I was like, I got dropped off. All I hear is, Kenan! Kenan!
- 45:52Speaker 1: I'm like, who the hell? Everyone I know is inside.
- 45:56Speaker 1: And then I turned around. I saw the black truck.
- 45:58Speaker 1: I'm like, oh, it's him. And then he came in.
- 46:00Speaker 1: He was like, he's outside.
- 46:01Speaker 3: What a horrible way to get caught kissing your dad goodbye.
- 46:06Speaker 1: We was never that. We was never that. Bye, Daddykins. Daddykins.
- 46:12Speaker 2: Actually, I kiss my dad more now than I did
- 46:14Speaker 2: when I was a kid.
- 46:15Speaker 5: And that's because I force kisses on him. Are you
- 46:19Speaker 5: the lead kisser on that?
- 46:20Speaker 1: Yes, but it's not lip to lip, though. You going first?
- 46:22Speaker 1: The lead kisser.
- 46:23Speaker 2: It's not so much. You go 90, he go 10.
- 46:27Speaker 1: He doesn't go at all. I go the full 100. Oh,
- 46:29Speaker 1: you go the full 100. I go the full 100
- 46:30Speaker 1: because I grab him on the head. All right, Pop,
- 46:31Speaker 1: see you. Kiss him on the forehead. Yeah. Listen, man.
- 46:34Speaker 1: How do you embarrass your dad like that?
- 46:35Speaker 5: That's a lot for him because he was around before
- 46:36Speaker 5: civil rights.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Exactly. So this is a big moment. Yes. He lived
- 46:40Speaker 1: through segregation. Yeah. He heard a whole bunch of reggae
- 46:43Speaker 1: in his mind. He heard boom, bye, bye. Boom, bye, bye.
- 46:47Speaker 1: You're not my T-boy yet. He heard all that shit.
- 46:51Speaker 2: But you know, everybody, I keep telling them, start kissing
- 46:54Speaker 2: your father more because you don't kiss him enough.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I know that you ain't kiss him off as a kid.
- 46:58Speaker 1: You probably don't hug him enough, dab him off. Kiss
- 47:01Speaker 1: your pops. You're right. My dad just sends me AI
- 47:03Speaker 1: pictures or AI videos from Facebook.
- 47:05Speaker 5: I'd kiss my pops, but I don't know where the
- 47:07Speaker 5: grave is.
- 47:08Speaker 1: All right. Yeah. All right. Yeah. I don't want to
- 47:12Speaker 1: get dirt in my mouth. So... I'm a good... I'm
- 47:16Speaker 1: a good... I felt you look at me. I was
- 47:17Speaker 1: not looking at you when you said that. I was
- 47:19Speaker 1: not looking at you. You're going to stole face it.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I felt him laugh. I felt this nigga look at me.
- 47:25Speaker 1: I don't want to get dirt in my mouth. Don't
- 47:27Speaker 1: look at me when you see... When you see that
- 47:29Speaker 1: nigga's eye, give it to the side of your head.
- 47:33Speaker 1: Say something. My man got tears in his eyes. Say something.
- 47:44Speaker 1: Real quick, I want to bring it back. We were
- 47:46Speaker 1: talking about struggle meals. Sure. What was your favorite struggle
- 47:49Speaker 1: meal growing up?
- 47:50Speaker 5: It might have been spaghetti, to be honest. My worst
- 47:54Speaker 5: struggle meal is my boy Torrin Clark.
- 47:57Speaker 1: He's an artist now. He does covers, like Marvel covers
- 48:01Speaker 1: and stuff.
- 48:02Speaker 5: And the worst meal I had was from his mama.
- 48:07Speaker 5: Isn't it bad when the worst meals be from other
- 48:10Speaker 5: people that you still see?
- 48:11Speaker 1: And then it just plays in your head. Before you
- 48:13Speaker 1: tell this, does he know this?
- 48:15Speaker 5: Yeah. No, we've talked about this because he was a
- 48:19Speaker 5: horrible child.
- 48:20Speaker 1: And I remember going over to his house. And he
- 48:22Speaker 1: was like, Mom, this sucks! Right, guys? And it did,
- 48:28Speaker 1: but I was like, oh. What was it? It was
- 48:33Speaker 1: like rice.
- 48:35Speaker 7: Oh i was like right that's rice i think it
- 48:39Speaker 7: was just rice but she put elements in it you
- 48:43Speaker 7: ever had rice with a strawberry jam i was like
- 48:48Speaker 7: what is my ingredient this is my famous pickle juice
- 48:52Speaker 7: rice baby yeah i don't know.
- 48:53Speaker 2: What she was brining or whatever you never had rice
- 48:57Speaker 2: and pickles but my.
- 48:58Speaker 5: Mom My mom, speaking of stereotypes of watermelon, man, my
- 49:02Speaker 5: mom made fried chicken. My mama made fried chicken all
- 49:06Speaker 5: the time. My mom made the best fried chicken. She
- 49:08Speaker 5: made that all the time.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Nice. Oh, no, you just unlocked a memory.
- 49:15Speaker 5: I used to have, because my mom ain't want me
- 49:17Speaker 5: to go to school without breakfast, she'd make out, you'd get.
- 49:20Speaker 1: Like a hard-boiled egg, and you wrap it, you get like.
- 49:23Speaker 5: A newspaper, you hold it in like a newspaper, and
- 49:25Speaker 5: you bring it on the train, and unwrap it.
- 49:27Speaker 1: And eat it.
- 49:27Speaker 5: And then what's crazy is like, it was like the
- 49:29Speaker 5: Sunday Funnies or some shit like that.
- 49:31Speaker 1: So you have like a whole Calvin and Hobbes on
- 49:33Speaker 1: your egg. On the egg. How do you eat it? Oh, wow.
- 49:40Speaker 5: Oh, no.
- 49:40Speaker 1: This is one of the ones where the egg get deep.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 49:42Speaker 1: This is one of the philosophical ones. Yeah.
- 49:44Speaker 5: Family circus.
- 49:45Speaker 1: I'm just, you know, moving the egg around. Like, where's
- 49:47Speaker 1: it going to go? Just eating hard-boiled egg off the boondocks. Yeah.
- 49:51Speaker 1: That was my struggle meal was train eggs. And that's
- 49:54Speaker 1: another thing that baffles me about you. Y'all taking the
- 49:56Speaker 1: public bus. Trains? Yeah. To go to school.
- 50:01Speaker 5: I took the train.
- 50:02Speaker 1: I was taking a train. Whatchamacallit? It was a J.
- 50:06Speaker 5: And we used to take the G and then the GG.
- 50:08Speaker 5: The GG used to exist. And it was like me
- 50:11Speaker 5: and my mom. And every once in a while, I'd
- 50:12Speaker 5: take the train by myself. At like eight years old.
- 50:15Speaker 2: That's actually just wild.
- 50:18Speaker 1: That's really wild.
- 50:20Speaker 5: Yeah. I'm one of those dudes where I'm like, what's
- 50:22Speaker 5: wrong with you whippersnappers? I'm like, yeah, I was heavy
- 50:26Speaker 5: on a train dolo.
- 50:27Speaker 6: I can't even imagine, dog. I'm so from the suburbs.
- 50:33Speaker 6: So this is Burlington City. We're from Burlington Township. We're
- 50:36Speaker 6: from across the train tracks, quite literally.
- 50:38Speaker 1: Literally. So, like, this is the black area of our town. Yeah.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Is there a better neighborhood than this? Yes. Where we're from. Yes. Unfortunately.
- 50:48Speaker 5: This neighborhood is better than where I live now, and
- 50:49Speaker 5: I'm rich.
- 50:50Speaker 1: If I say... If I say... No, no, no, no.
- 50:53Speaker 1: If I say his family... You're a fool. It's this strip,
- 50:56Speaker 1: isn't it? Okay. Once you get a couple blocks, it gets... Yeah,
- 50:59Speaker 1: if you go a block over, it don't look like this,
- 51:00Speaker 1: but yeah. We are from... It gets real saggy. Saggy, cheesy. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 51:04Speaker 6: We're from nice places. Like, his parents have a big
- 51:07Speaker 6: house with a pool. My mom has a big house.
- 51:09Speaker 6: My stepdad was a corrections officer.
- 51:10Speaker 1: So, yeah. I just got a house this year. Did
- 51:14Speaker 1: you do stuff? To get a house? You was just born?
- 51:18Speaker 5: I was just born, yeah, yeah. I was just born.
- 51:20Speaker 5: Because it paid off to not have no friends.
- 51:26Speaker 1: You know what?
- 51:28Speaker 2: But yeah, no, we definitely had, like, we're from a
- 51:32Speaker 2: neighborhood where the parents stayed, like, they dropped their kids
- 51:36Speaker 2: off at the bus stop and sit in the car
- 51:38Speaker 2: and wait for the bus to come get them.
- 51:39Speaker 5: Oh, that's cool.
- 51:40Speaker 1: Quite literally, yeah. Or all the parents drop off their kids.
- 51:44Speaker 1: At school. At school. And then later on, they pick
- 51:46Speaker 1: him up. Oh, that's crazy. We had a carpool line. Yeah.
- 51:49Speaker 5: Oh, you guys were living a life.
- 51:51Speaker 1: Bruh. Yes. And we do not take it for granted. Like,
- 51:53Speaker 1: we know where we're from. No. Oh, I couldn't be
- 51:55Speaker 1: a city kid. Yeah. Because I know that your day-
- 51:58Speaker 1: And I was like, oh, y'all got tokens? Like, oh
- 52:00Speaker 1: my God. I know your day started two hours before
- 52:02Speaker 1: your day actually started. Yeah. That's crazy. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:05Speaker 5: I was living like Arnold from Different Strokes before he
- 52:09Speaker 5: moved in with the white dude.
- 52:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Yes. Pre-drumming. Yeah, yeah. Pre-drumming. Pre-drumming. I was
- 52:16Speaker 1: a pre-drumming. A pre-drumming kid is crazy. I just wrote
- 52:20Speaker 1: a book back on a train. Well, the world don't move. Well,
- 52:24Speaker 1: it might be right for you. It might be right
- 52:27Speaker 1: for some. Eating a train egg. A man in a train.
- 52:33Speaker 1: A man up in me. Oh, yeah. Yo, that's. Yeah,
- 52:37Speaker 1: y'all had it nice. We did. Bro, definitely had it nice.
- 52:39Speaker 2: Trust me, I know I'm spoiling you. Definitely went to
- 52:42Speaker 2: a nice melting pot high school.
- 52:43Speaker 1: Okay. Definitely was like, oh, wow, I really was living
- 52:46Speaker 1: a different way. I'm like, yeah, this is insane.
- 52:49Speaker 5: My friend was telling me the other day how I
- 52:50Speaker 5: used to count nickels for lunch. And I was like, oh,
- 52:53Speaker 5: I forgot about that. Thank you for bringing it up.
- 52:55Speaker 1: We used to hate when our lunch goes up 10
- 52:57Speaker 1: cent every year. We had a lunch pin and our
- 53:02Speaker 1: parents put money on the account.
- 53:05Speaker 6: I still remember my numbers.
- 53:09Speaker 1: 28825. 11398. Oh, you guys all had this. Yeah, everybody
- 53:12Speaker 1: had a pen. And your parents could put money on
- 53:15Speaker 1: your lunch account.
- 53:15Speaker 5: I'm also older than y'all, so I just had lunch tickets.
- 53:18Speaker 1: Is that a thing that y'all still have? No, never.
- 53:21Speaker 1: So the poor kids. We had poor kids. We gave
- 53:25Speaker 1: them a special pick. Well, if you talk to them.
- 53:30Speaker 1: Why would I do that? What? That's fair. They malnourished.
- 53:37Speaker 1: The system's in place. They got them.
- 53:42Speaker 5: The poor kids, you had lunch tickets and it was
- 53:45Speaker 5: like welfare for eight-year-olds. or 12, 13 or whatever. And
- 53:50Speaker 5: so you go there, you get your lunch ticket and
- 53:52Speaker 5: they give you food.
- 53:53Speaker 3: This is how I know how bougie, like we had
- 53:55Speaker 3: gotten in and out, like how like different our school was,
- 53:58Speaker 3: like our living wasn't a lot of people. When we
- 54:01Speaker 3: graduated high school, like our senior year of high school,
- 54:04Speaker 3: it got to a point where somehow a new Chick-fil-A was.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Built in our neighborhood. Oh yeah.
- 54:11Speaker 3: Our new Chick-fil-A was built in our neighborhood. So somehow
- 54:14Speaker 3: the school board had finagled or finessed to where It
- 54:17Speaker 3: started off every Friday, we would just have Chick-fil-A for lunch,
- 54:21Speaker 3: the whole school. And then it got to a point
- 54:23Speaker 3: where they would just sell Chick-fil-A permanently in a secondary
- 54:26Speaker 3: snack line. Whereas you would go and get a Chick-fil-A
- 54:29Speaker 3: sandwich for like three bucks.
- 54:31Speaker 1: I didn't realize how crazy that was. It was always
- 54:34Speaker 1: so crazy. That's why I never- That shit is insane. Yeah,
- 54:37Speaker 1: that's huge.
- 54:39Speaker 3: It's definitely a contributing factor to what you see before you.
- 54:44Speaker 1: Oh, wow. Y'all just- and prime Chick-fil-A yet. Oh, yeah.
- 54:49Speaker 3: I remember seeing that Chick-fil-A truck pull into the back
- 54:52Speaker 3: of the school. I was like, yep, today's going to
- 54:53Speaker 3: be a good day.
- 54:54Speaker 1: We had Steak'Em.
- 54:56Speaker 5: Oh.
- 54:56Speaker 1: Did y'all have that? We had that. We had that
- 54:58Speaker 1: for Cheese Steak Day. I mean, I had that in
- 55:00Speaker 1: We did? Just a little, yeah, a little slab. A slab.
- 55:03Speaker 1: It looked like bacon. A sheet, a meat sheet. It
- 55:05Speaker 1: was a meat sheet. Yeah, yeah. Meat sheet. It looked
- 55:08Speaker 1: like bacon, but it wasn't. Hey, bro, the meat sheets
- 55:09Speaker 1: are tasty. That's a struggle. I enjoyed it. Put a
- 55:12Speaker 1: little salt, a little pepper, a little cheese on it.
- 55:13Speaker 1: I tried it. Thick-ass bread, thick-ass, flaky-ass bread. Yeah, the
- 55:17Speaker 1: cheddar cheese was amazing. Put some ketchup on it.
- 55:20Speaker 3: Used to eat that at the house, but we put
- 55:21Speaker 3: it on regular bread. And then you'd have all that
- 55:23Speaker 3: with a carton of milk. And then go run laps
- 55:26Speaker 3: in gym.
- 55:26Speaker 1: Yes. What a nice formula.
- 55:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 55:28Speaker 1: At 10 a.m., We had strawberry milk. Okay.
- 55:32Speaker 5: I don't think we had strawberry.
- 55:34Speaker 6: That's what I'm saying.
- 55:38Speaker 1: We had whole milk or 2%.
- 55:40Speaker 5: Yeah, okay.
- 55:41Speaker 1: It was different, man. Listen, I do not take it
- 55:44Speaker 1: for granted. You got that from school? Yeah. I actually
- 55:47Speaker 1: went by the high school and picked up a pen.
- 55:49Speaker 1: To the drive-thru.
- 55:51Speaker 6: The drive-thru at the high school on the side of
- 55:53Speaker 6: the building.
- 55:53Speaker 1: Oh, Julian! Yay! 28825 and put it in. I'm glad
- 56:00Speaker 1: that I really still remember my pen, though. Mine was easy.
- 56:02Speaker 1: It was right down the middle. 28825. I used that
- 56:05Speaker 1: pen for a lot of things. I used that in
- 56:06Speaker 1: college for something. Where do you press this pen at?
- 56:09Speaker 1: It's like a little keypad. There's a keypad next to
- 56:11Speaker 1: the register.
- 56:14Speaker 6: Where you get your lunch. Because the lunch ladies sit
- 56:16Speaker 6: right there. Because some people will pay with cash. You
- 56:18Speaker 6: can bring money. But if you had a lunch pen
- 56:21Speaker 6: where your parents put money in your account.
- 56:23Speaker 5: That's crazy that you're at school buying lunch.
- 56:27Speaker 6: You could charge it too. If you didn't have money
- 56:28Speaker 6: on your account, you could charge it. And your parents
- 56:30Speaker 6: would just owe money.
- 56:31Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you could go to lunch overdraft. You could
- 56:35Speaker 1: go to debt. You could go to debt for lunch.
- 56:37Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. Some niggas were running it up.
- 56:40Speaker 1: On certain days, I'm running it up. Wait, on Pizza
- 56:45Speaker 1: Dipper Day? I'm getting extra. My parents are going to
- 56:47Speaker 1: have to get it out the mud. I'm getting double.
- 56:49Speaker 1: I'm getting double. I'm getting extra, and somebody's going to
- 56:51Speaker 1: pay for that. These niggas got steak-em debts. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Literally, yo.
- 56:55Speaker 3: They put you in a class like, yo, you went
- 56:57Speaker 3: to us for 48 grand.
- 57:01Speaker 1: For buttered noodles.
- 57:03Speaker 2: Ending off your high school career with a $ 600 lunch
- 57:06Speaker 2: den is crazy.
- 57:07Speaker 1: It was doing it.
- 57:08Speaker 5: That's wild.
- 57:09Speaker 1: But what's even wild is the fact that we're forced
- 57:11Speaker 1: to be at school, but they then force you to eat.
- 57:14Speaker 1: If I'm forced to be here by law, you should
- 57:16Speaker 1: be forced to feed me for free.
- 57:17Speaker 3: But the thing is, you could get free lunch. You
- 57:20Speaker 3: just had to prove how poor you were. You had
- 57:22Speaker 3: to prove how poor you were. They made you prove
- 57:24Speaker 3: how poor you were.
- 57:24Speaker 1: They come in there, they're like, let me see your shoes. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 57:27Speaker 1: What'd you use to heat the house? When was the
- 57:29Speaker 1: last time you got some new sneakers, baby? Yeah, nah.
- 57:31Speaker 1: How many times did you have to flip your drawers
- 57:32Speaker 1: inside out before you had to wash them? Oh, my God.
- 57:35Speaker 1: Are those your shoes or your big brother's?
- 57:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 57:37Speaker 1: How many neighbors you got named Tyrone? You live in
- 57:39Speaker 1: a house or... Do all your siblings share the same toothbrush? Yeah.
- 57:45Speaker 1: Share it.
- 57:46Speaker 2: Because if all y'all don't have gingivitis, I'm sorry.
- 57:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I ain't give it to you. When's the
- 57:51Speaker 1: last time you got beat up? It's too late. Did
- 57:54Speaker 1: you have to carry your school books in the pizza box? Yeah.
- 57:57Speaker 5: Yo.
- 57:57Speaker 1: Did you go to a free book bag drive? Yeah, yeah.
- 58:00Speaker 1: A free book bag drive. Yeah, or did you go
- 58:02Speaker 1: to the store and get your book back? Yeah. Actually,
- 58:04Speaker 1: let me see your book bag. Yeah, that'll tell me everything. Wait,
- 58:07Speaker 1: time out. Your book bag has wheels? Yeah, get out
- 58:09Speaker 1: of here. Get out of here. Yeah, I don't even
- 58:11Speaker 1: know if you're pouring out. You're just a nerd. He's
- 58:13Speaker 1: a fucking nerd. You got your fucking air put bag.
- 58:17Speaker 1: What the fuck is this nigga?
- 58:18Speaker 5: How many books you got during the book fair?
- 58:19Speaker 1: Ooh. Ooh. That'll tell you. That'll tell you. That'll tell you.
- 58:26Speaker 1: I never. My mom never gave me money for that. Ever.
- 58:29Speaker 5: I'm at the book fair browsing.
- 58:31Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 58:32Speaker 2: I was at max probably getting $ 5, which would only
- 58:34Speaker 2: give me a pencil and an eraser.
- 58:35Speaker 5: Hey, ain't nothing like trying to steal a read.
- 58:40Speaker 1: Please. It's hard to steal a comic.
- 58:41Speaker 5: Yo, let me see the beginning of that.
- 58:45Speaker 1: How's that story open? Yo, pass you that Captain Underpants. Yeah.
- 58:48Speaker 1: Let me read the back. What's going on with that?
- 58:50Speaker 2: I remember one time I finagled my dad to be
- 58:52Speaker 2: in a chaperone for the book fair just so he
- 58:54Speaker 2: couldn't say that he didn't have money. So you could
- 58:56Speaker 2: pressure him to have his money? Just so like, what
- 58:57Speaker 2: you mean you don't got money? You really going to
- 58:59Speaker 2: say no in front of everybody right now?
- 59:01Speaker 1: You got to be loud. So you're saying you're broke, Dad? Hey, man.
- 59:06Speaker 1: It worked. I got all the books I wanted. Did
- 59:08Speaker 1: I read any of them? No. But the fact that
- 59:10Speaker 1: I was able to get them. Wasting your dad's money.
- 59:13Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 59:14Speaker 2: I mean, what else is there a child to do
- 59:16Speaker 2: than waste your parents' money?
- 59:17Speaker 1: That's true.
- 59:18Speaker 2: Because one, I didn't ask to be here. Right now,
- 59:22Speaker 2: I'm paying taxes and in debt because they wanted to
- 59:24Speaker 2: have a good time.
- 59:26Speaker 1: I didn't ask for this shit.
- 59:27Speaker 5: Because I don't know how condoms work.
- 59:28Speaker 1: Zero.
- 59:29Speaker 2: That whole generation knew nothing about condoms.
- 59:33Speaker 1: Nah, the nigga with the newborn. What's that? What that? What?
- 59:37Speaker 1: What are those? Hey, baby. What is a condom, right?
- 59:43Speaker 1: You next. That's why you next. What do you mean?
- 59:45Speaker 3: That's why you're next. Don't put extra debt on me yet. Nah,
- 59:48Speaker 3: it's my friend put it on, our friend put it
- 59:50Speaker 3: on me. I'm passing the savings on to you.
- 59:52Speaker 2: It don't work like that. Your power only works with
- 59:56Speaker 2: predicting dead people.
- 59:59Speaker 1: That's your power. Very true.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: So with him, we'll be talking about somebody and the
- 1:00:04Speaker 2: mic will go, wait, they're not dead? And we're like,
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: no nigga, that's not dead. To then, maybe a week
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: or two later, TMZ, so and so is dead. I
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: will say this happened twice.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: Randy Newman is next. Huh? I said Randy Newman is next. Exactly,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: you did bring up Randy Newman. Didn't Mitch McConnell die? Nah.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: There it is. Your time's a ticking.
- 1:00:32Speaker 6: So Malcolm, we have some questions from our Discord.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Discord? Yeah, we have a Discord. Just the three of y'all?
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: We have a podcast Discord. Oh, okay. You know what
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Discord is? I'm not even trying to be funny.
- 1:00:47Speaker 5: No, I am on Discord.
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:00:49Speaker 5: It's just me and my friends.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: So yeah, we got Discord with our listeners and stuff.
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: And we told them to ask questions for you. Okay, yeah, sure.
- 1:00:58Speaker 6: So, this first question is, maybe you know what they're
- 1:01:01Speaker 6: talking about, maybe you don't. Why'd you take my pictures
- 1:01:03Speaker 6: from DreamCon off your Instagram? That was helping my business.
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: What was the business? Fuck you, I don't know you. So,
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: hold on. So, you were at DreamCon? Yeah, I'm at
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: cons all the time. Really? Yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:18Speaker 5: I go to DreamCon and Comic-Con. I have a panel
- 1:01:20Speaker 5: every year called Malcolm and Friends.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Yeah, you were on the boards. Yeah.
- 1:01:24Speaker 5: Yeah, I would keep it up. I just take stuff
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: down in general. After a while, I just try and
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: cycle new stuff. So if you were on there, I
- 1:01:35Speaker 5: loved whatever it was that.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: Was on there. You can't stay there forever, nigga. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Nigga. Hey, hey,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: pull yourself up by your bootstrap. Get out the mud, nigga.
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: Play no mail ticket, bitch. What else you want me
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: to do for you? Yeah. It's all net. You was there.
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: Much love to you, whoever you are. So you going
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: just for the boys, or do you have actual interest
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: in all that stuff?
- 1:01:57Speaker 5: No, I was going before I was solidly on any
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: TV show.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: What's your area of interest? Is it comics? Is it anime?
- 1:02:05Speaker 5: It's all of it. I mean, the first time I
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: was there, there was probably, it was just movies that
- 1:02:10Speaker 5: were coming out, and I was excited to see that
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: sort of stuff. And then I do the Artist Alley thing,
- 1:02:14Speaker 5: and I try and get new comics done. just from
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: wherever I see some folks and especially black folks, just
- 1:02:19Speaker 5: try and pick up some comics. But the first year
- 1:02:21Speaker 5: I went there as, uh, as a person or as
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: a guest, it was probably for a show I did
- 1:02:28Speaker 5: called timeless, which was a time travel show. And then
- 1:02:30Speaker 5: after that, probably for preacher, uh, which is another comic
- 1:02:35Speaker 5: book turned TV show. Um, and that's, that's probably my
- 1:02:40Speaker 5: last official. And at some point I just, started my
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: own panel. Like my boy just, who's been going there
- 1:02:47Speaker 5: longer than me, he was like, you gotta do your
- 1:02:48Speaker 5: own panel. And so I did, and so I had
- 1:02:50Speaker 5: like my boy Eugene Bird, who people know from 8 Mile,
- 1:02:55Speaker 5: and Claudia Dumit from Thomas and the Boys, and a
- 1:02:59Speaker 5: bunch of stuff. And so it's been real fun, because
- 1:03:02Speaker 5: every year it's been growing and a different group of people.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: It's been real cool.
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: We had Seth.
- 1:03:06Speaker 5: Green last time, and we're gonna have some real cool
- 1:03:09Speaker 5: people next time too.
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: Tracy Toms. You have a favorite superhero? Favorite superhero?
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: I mean, growing up, it was probably, I wish I
- 1:03:18Speaker 5: could say, if I wanted to be like a super
- 1:03:21Speaker 5: cool nerd, I wish I could say something other than
- 1:03:23Speaker 5: the top ones that are all in the movies, like
- 1:03:25Speaker 5: freaking Cloak and Dagger back in the day.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: Right.
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: That was my thing.
- 1:03:30Speaker 5: Because he would have a cloak and I think she
- 1:03:32Speaker 5: was Dagger and then she was, and then.
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: He could put people inside the cloak or something like that.
- 1:03:38Speaker 5: But really growing up, it was Spider-Man just because I was,
- 1:03:41Speaker 5: a nerdish kid who cried jokes. So like that was,
- 1:03:45Speaker 5: I think all black people like Spider-Man.
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: Yeah. That was like perfect. You know what I mean?
- 1:03:49Speaker 5: Like everybody loves a Batman or something like that. I
- 1:03:51Speaker 5: don't know whose favorite superhero is Superman. That feels weird.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: The, the, the American manga ones. It feels weird.
- 1:03:58Speaker 5: Superman is just such a weird, it just feels like
- 1:04:01Speaker 5: you ain't got no personality. Like I feel like the character,
- 1:04:03Speaker 5: the character does, and there's like different interpretations, but it's
- 1:04:06Speaker 5: such a weird one to be like, I'm going to
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: be the guy who's perfect.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Yeah. It's weird.
- 1:04:11Speaker 3: Have you been watching that show, Lanterns?
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: Yeah. How are you? I love that show. Yeah, damn.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: I haven't watched it. I wish we could get into it.
- 1:04:19Speaker 5: I love it.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: Because I didn't watch the latest one. Like I said,
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: it's a lot of dialogue. You're not necessarily missing anything,
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: but it's still good for information. I'm watching, but I
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: don't like words.
- 1:04:29Speaker 6: No, he's the dialogue king. I'm just saying, he didn't
- 1:04:31Speaker 6: necessarily miss anything yet. Like, nothing major happens in that episode.
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: I think Lanterns is really good.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: Like, I don't really know the comic book like that.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: I don't know Green Lantern past anything I've seen on
- 1:04:43Speaker 5: a cartoon, and I never watched anything that was dedicated
- 1:04:47Speaker 5: to Green Lantern like that.
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: But the show is great. The show's good.
- 1:04:51Speaker 5: Yeah, the show is fun. Love Kyle Chandler. Aaron Pierre.
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: Speak up! Speak up! It's so funny watching that little
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: British come out. Yeah, yeah. Okay, all right. You're trying.
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: God bless. I'd really be running around my house just saying,
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: speak up, though. Do you? I saw the video where
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: he did that and then he cut to the tingles.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: I don't know if this is real, but apparently he's
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: a rapper as well, too. Yeah, he has music.
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: Yo, a lot of these British actor niggas, they were
- 1:05:21Speaker 3: either really actually good rappers back over there, or they
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: have a background in rapping. The two niggas from Top Boy,
- 1:05:28Speaker 3: those niggas.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Are real rappers. Yeah, but I think they got them.
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: I think they were heavy rapping. Yeah, they're like... The
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: light-skinned nigga is... Big over there. I haven't watched Top Boy.
- 1:05:40Speaker 1: Is that good? Banger. It's good. It's really good.
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: I feel like there's a lot of knives in it
- 1:05:45Speaker 5: or something.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: What'd they do? Honestly, a lot of guns for a
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: British show. Yeah. A lot of guns. They gotta spice
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: it up. I know, but it's like, I know y'all
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: are really big into no guns.
- 1:05:56Speaker 3: These niggas be having semi-automatics. Like, I know y'all over
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: there just fucking poking each other.
- 1:06:01Speaker 1: Because, like, where you get that from? Yeah. I feel
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: like every... I feel like three out of five actors...
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: they all were something else.
- 1:06:10Speaker 5: They all artists. So it's like I used to rap,
- 1:06:12Speaker 5: like everybody used to rap. Most of the women that
- 1:06:15Speaker 5: you see sing.
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: Like everybody. That is true.
- 1:06:19Speaker 3: Who was the actor that you've worked with or that
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: you know that you were most surprised?
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: Oh shit, nigga, you rapped? This is not a surprise,
- 1:06:28Speaker 5: but Anthony Mackie. huh what yeah well you know him
- 1:06:33Speaker 5: from 8 Mile yeah but I believe it that's just
- 1:06:37Speaker 5: sure but he wasn't even really rapping in that did
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: he rap he was Papa Dot but also I feel
- 1:06:43Speaker 5: like somebody wrote that rap for him because this is
- 1:06:46Speaker 5: so random but we did a movie called was it
- 1:06:50Speaker 5: The Hurt Locker yeah we did The Hurt Locker I've
- 1:06:53Speaker 5: heard of that yeah it won an Oscar and we
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: were in the Middle East we were in Jordan At
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: a party. And me and him battled.
- 1:07:04Speaker 1: Rap battle? Oh my God.
- 1:07:06Speaker 5: We were going back and forth. And keep in mind,
- 1:07:08Speaker 5: this is like, we're buddies now, but.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: This is more than 10 years ago. So there's video
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: of this somewhere.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: Nah, there's no fitting. Did you do a Papa Doc
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: line in there somewhere? I might have, but we were
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: both going off and it was, and like, I'm talking
- 1:07:23Speaker 5: about rounds. Like both of us back and forth, strictly freestyling.
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: It got to a point where the hoes was like,
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: all right, man. All right, round seven. My pussy is
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: drying up.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: But it was Jordan, so they were like, she gone.
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: But it was, yeah, it was wild because it was like,
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: you know, at the time I was like, I'm bottling
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: Papa Doc. Like, this is crazy. The hood will never
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: believe this. It was like crazy.
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: That was tough.
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: Yo, I just put an eight mile on. I was like,
- 1:07:54Speaker 1: you know I battled that nigga. Why we watching eight mile?
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's a scene. That's crazy. My first
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: two or three movies were with Anthony Mackie. Really?
- 1:08:04Speaker 5: Yeah, my joke was like, they don't let me do
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: movies unless Anthony's in it. Like, that was my first
- 1:08:11Speaker 5: couple ones.
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: Hey, well, at least you know if that nigga working,
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: I'm right behind you. Yeah, I'm right with you. Next stop,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Iron Man. You're like, back in America. Next stop, Disney. Yeah,
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: you gonna hold these wings? He's like, you need an
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: America boy? Yeah. Adam Sandler and Rob Snyder. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: You gotta have both. You know what I mean? Putting
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: on for this shit. Putting on for this shit.
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: Captain America Civil War starring Malcolm Barrett as America boy.
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm down. I love America. Hell yeah. Didn't Donald
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Trump die? Time's ticking, nigga. All right. We got another
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: question from my Discord. You got it? People? Yeah, I
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: got it. Be honest. How many times have you been
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: mistaken for Dave Chappelle? All the time. All the time.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: I see it. I got it. I see it and
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: I hear it. Since I was 18 years old.
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: And I remember the very first time where someone seriously
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: did it was the weirdest shit in the world. Because
- 1:09:10Speaker 5: I was at a pizza shop. It was during college
- 1:09:12Speaker 5: and I was at a pizza shop. And some little
- 1:09:14Speaker 5: white dude was over there and he's like, I know.
- 1:09:19Speaker 5: And at the time, I hadn't been getting Dave Chappelle,
- 1:09:21Speaker 5: so he's just like freaking me out.
- 1:09:22Speaker 1: What the hell does this nigga know? What a weird
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: way to be like, I recognize you. Yeah, he's just like,
- 1:09:30Speaker 1: I know who you are. You know what? I was like, oh,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: this is one I'm finna get touched. What is this
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: nigga doing? I gotta get out of here. This is
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: the preamble to a molestation. Yeah, yeah. I was like, oh.
- 1:09:42Speaker 1: This is how it starts.
- 1:09:43Speaker 5: I don't know how molestation games. I don't know what
- 1:09:47Speaker 5: your opening line is when you're trying to molest.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: I know. This gotta be it, though. I was like, oh.
- 1:09:53Speaker 5: I don't think he let me know at some point.
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: He was like, you're Dave Chappelle. And I was like, no.
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: He was like, okay. Okay, nigga. I'm not going to
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: be weird about it.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: I'm going to do a serious question off that and
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: then a joke question off that.
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: I'll take them both. So a serious question. Has that
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: actually caused you difficulties in your career?
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: No, it hasn't helped or hurt or done anything.
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Really?
- 1:10:19Speaker 5: The closest was.
- 1:10:22Speaker 5: Mike Epps had a show that was going to be
- 1:10:25Speaker 5: a sketch show that turned into a comedy special. And
- 1:10:29Speaker 5: I remember I stayed away from doing anything Dave Chappelle
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: related for the most part, just because I didn't want
- 1:10:34Speaker 5: the comparison to feel like, oh, I'm getting this or
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: I'm feeding off him. But they were like, this is
- 1:10:40Speaker 5: after he went to Africa and they were like, okay,
- 1:10:43Speaker 5: Mike Epps wants you to play Dave Chappelle in therapy.
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Oh my God.
- 1:10:50Speaker 5: And it was like literally shooting the next day. They
- 1:10:52Speaker 5: were like, you got to come to Atlanta or Memphis,
- 1:10:54Speaker 5: wherever the hell it was and do the show. And
- 1:10:56Speaker 5: I was like, well, shit, it's Mike Epps. Like I'm
- 1:10:58Speaker 5: fitting to do it. And like, I really have a
- 1:11:00Speaker 5: Chappelle impression. Like I get the comparisons a lot, but
- 1:11:03Speaker 5: I haven't worked towards, you know, other than I haven't
- 1:11:05Speaker 5: done any research on them other than the weed. and
- 1:11:09Speaker 5: so like I like worked I'm like watching his stuff
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: I'm like okay yeah nigga and uh.
- 1:11:14Speaker 8: That's pretty damn good not gonna lie locked it in
- 1:11:19Speaker 8: right so I'm like yeah I'm ready and I go
- 1:11:22Speaker 8: to set and uh I remember I'm Robin Thede who
- 1:11:26Speaker 8: y'all might know from.
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: Black Lady Sketch Show yes she was a writer on
- 1:11:30Speaker 5: there um but I remember I'm like waiting like I'm
- 1:11:34Speaker 5: on set and I'm waiting to shoot you know and
- 1:11:35Speaker 5: you'd be kicking like waiting okay I'm ready to do
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: this And I went for a little while. And at
- 1:11:43Speaker 5: some point, a 50-something, 60-year-old black man in baggy clothes
- 1:11:50Speaker 5: and graying cornrows comes up to me. Turns out to
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: be the director. And he's like, my brother.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: Do you see that? Did you see that?
- 1:12:01Speaker 5: See how we ain't even have to say you've been
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: sitting there for how long? You're ready to go back
- 1:12:07Speaker 5: to the airport.
- 1:12:09Speaker 1: I know I ain't sitting this motherfucker.
- 1:12:12Speaker 5: And he's like, so Mike can't be here. And I'm like,
- 1:12:17Speaker 5: Mike can't be here for the Mike show?
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Mike can't be here for the Mike Epps show?
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: And he was like, no, he caught up in something, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:12:27Speaker 5: And I'm like, okay. And then they're like, but Corey
- 1:12:32Speaker 5: Holcomb's here. And I'm like, oh, that's a different person.
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: That's not my gaps. That's not my gaps. And Corey Holcomb,
- 1:12:42Speaker 1: he don't like reading or something like that.
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: So the scene went differently.
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Lately, I can tell. I can tell. The scene went
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: differently than it was scripted. Yeah. And unexpectedly. So it
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: was mad different, but I just remember complaining after.
- 1:12:57Speaker 5: I was like, this is why I don't.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Do black shit, because you see what they did to me?
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: He was like, damn, this nigga really does sound like Desmond.
- 1:13:02Speaker 5: I was like, get the white man on the phone.
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: That's bullshit.
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: So how many times has that happened, where you go
- 1:13:09Speaker 3: into something, and it completely just flips, and you're either
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: doing something completely different, or you're just not doing it
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: at all?
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: Never. Never. Never? Oh, okay. Really? You just do the show. Exactly.
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: You're a contract boy. Because time is money.
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: I was actually expecting something like- No, fuck Hollywood. This
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: shit be weird sometimes.
- 1:13:26Speaker 3: No, because I would expect you going to something and
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: then maybe the main person can't be there.
- 1:13:31Speaker 1: Just something goes wrong and it's just like, well, this
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: is cut. No. Okay. They go, hey, show up to eight.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: And then you do. That's the end of it. The
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: only time it's weird is maybe if you're doing an indie,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: there's something unexpected. Or if you're an extra.
- 1:13:45Speaker 5: That happens. Well, I wouldn't know.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: Pop your shit.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: God damn, we big digging on the pop.
- 1:13:53Speaker 1: Talk about it.
- 1:13:54Speaker 5: I've heard anecdotes.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: I've heard things.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: But no, it mostly goes, unless there's some weird tantrum
- 1:14:03Speaker 5: by some actor, but I haven't really experienced that a
- 1:14:06Speaker 5: whole bunch. But stuff pretty much goes, you know, there's
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: random bumps, but it's never like, hey, you're here to
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: do this and the actor's gone. But I think Mike
- 1:14:16Speaker 5: has talked about that. I think Mike was like, oh yeah,
- 1:14:19Speaker 5: I was on cocaine for like most of this decade
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: or something.
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: Most of this... Not the day, decade. A lot of
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: that time I was high. Yeah, so I think that's probably...
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: Or maybe, you know what? Or maybe he had sick family.
- 1:14:29Speaker 1: I don't fucking know. Shit happens. He's an indie animal.
- 1:14:32Speaker 1: Anything can happen. Okay.
- 1:14:34Speaker 3: And then the next question off that Chappelle thing. How
- 1:14:37Speaker 3: many times did people come up to you talking about,
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: it's Rick James, bitch.
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: I'm Rick James.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: That's happened... One time. That's it? One time.
- 1:14:47Speaker 5: No, they mostly just think I'm Dave Chappelle.
- 1:14:49Speaker 1: Oh, they never verbalize.
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: And then they say, they might.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: Go, you're Dave. Or they think we've got like a
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: secret thing going or something like that.
- 1:14:56Speaker 5: And I'd be like, eh.
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: But like, one time I think, somebody was like, I'm
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: not him. You know, but like. Have you met him yet?
- 1:15:08Speaker 5: I met this nigga three, four, 70 times.
- 1:15:12Speaker 1: He never remembers me.
- 1:15:15Speaker 2: The nigga that looked like him in the mirror?
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: And I understand. I don't... I'm going to talk for you, man.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Fuck that shit. No. Deja Bell, you know who this
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: nigga is.
- 1:15:24Speaker 5: I feel like I have a career, but I'm not.
- 1:15:30Speaker 2: I'm in the barrel, but I'm not the bottom.
- 1:15:31Speaker 5: Yeah, you know what I mean? I don't know, but
- 1:15:34Speaker 5: I tell some story about the very first time I
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: met him, and I don't really be... Like, I'm in
- 1:15:40Speaker 5: this business, so I don't really be trying to meet
- 1:15:42Speaker 5: celebrities like that.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: Like, oh, like, hey, hey, hey.
- 1:15:47Speaker 5: But I had gotten a comparison so often that I
- 1:15:50Speaker 5: finally was like, all right, let me meet him because
- 1:15:54Speaker 5: I was at some award show and he was there.
- 1:15:57Speaker 5: And this is like very early on. This is like
- 1:15:59Speaker 5: probably 15, 20 years ago or something. And he was
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: sitting at a table and I went and I was like, hey, man,
- 1:16:06Speaker 5: people say I look like you. And he was like, oh,
- 1:16:08Speaker 5: that's crazy.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: What is this? Oh, that's crazy.
- 1:16:13Speaker 5: I was like, yeah, that's what I would say, too.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: Where is this going? Yeah, you're probably like the 18 goddess.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:16:19Speaker 5: I'm sure there's some other kind of looking like him
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: dude that said that.
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: That's not a great conversation. It's not. Not at all.
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: So I get it. You know.
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: It kind of went the same way when I met
- 1:16:30Speaker 2: Kenan Thompson for the first time. I was like, hey, Kenan,
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: my name's Kenan, too.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: He was like, oh, cool. Yeah. What do I say
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: to that? There's a million Kenans, nigga. What's this nigga
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: talking about? It's a name. Yeah, but our name is special.
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: It's a name. Our name is special. I'm special. Yeah.
- 1:16:46Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: You know me. I don't know you, nigga. Shut up.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: The name's famous because of me. Yeah. Because of what
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I do. Because of what I do. Yeah. Do you
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: know a cow? Yeah. You've never worked at Good Bird. Yeah.
- 1:16:56Speaker 1: What are you doing? You've never worked at Good Bird.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: All right. We got another question. This one. Why do
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: you always roast to here like that? Okay. Okay.
- 1:17:07Speaker 5: Do y'all know Tahir?
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: Tahir Moore? Yes. We've been in conversation with him. We've
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: been lobbying to get him on the pod. He just
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: hasn't been in this area. We're going to get you, nigga. Likely.
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: He's not around here.
- 1:17:17Speaker 5: He don't want to be here.
- 1:17:20Speaker 1: That's fine. We understand. I don't roast Tahir. What happens is, one,
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: me and him are really good buddies. And....
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: He don't talk as good as I do.
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: And then for him to have a YouTube show talking
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: about words is hard.
- 1:17:40Speaker 5: Wording is hard. So here's how we became cool is
- 1:17:45Speaker 5: I wanted to be on Roast Me. Okay.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:17:48Speaker 5: Because I was like, and people always act weird as
- 1:17:52Speaker 5: an actor when I try and do things like that. Like,
- 1:17:54Speaker 5: y'all were like, why is he calling? Like, in the
- 1:17:57Speaker 5: Roast Me thing, I was like, I can't wait. I
- 1:17:58Speaker 5: was like, I don't know who none of these niggas is.
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: But I want to roast.
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: Right. I'm like, we doing this? Televise? Let's get it.
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: Yeah, I was like, let me get in on this.
- 1:18:07Speaker 5: And so I didn't know how to reach or talk
- 1:18:09Speaker 5: to anybody. And then I started doing stand-up again. And
- 1:18:12Speaker 5: I saw Tahir. And we were performing the same night.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: And I went to him.
- 1:18:16Speaker 5: And I was like, y'all want to be on Roast Me?
- 1:18:18Speaker 5: And he was like, I have no control over that.
- 1:18:21Speaker 5: But then- So?
- 1:18:22Speaker 1: Yeah. Get me on the show. Fuck. Yeah. And then
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: he was.
- 1:18:27Speaker 5: Talking about Kevin on Stage Studios and working there. And
- 1:18:31Speaker 5: so it was during the pandemic. And so I wound
- 1:18:33Speaker 5: up just working with him on Wording His Heart. I
- 1:18:35Speaker 5: wound up producing probably the last season of Wording His
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: Heart or co-producing.
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: That's funny.
- 1:18:39Speaker 5: Just because I was like, I got to learn how
- 1:18:41Speaker 5: to do other stuff because we were on strike or
- 1:18:45Speaker 5: the pandemic was happening.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: One or the other was happening. It was like both
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: at the same time, damn near. You know what I mean?
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Any more- because you said you went to school for directing.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: Did you lean more into directing during that time?
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: No, because it wasn't shit to direct.
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:18:56Speaker 5: So I like, I was like, I'm going to be here.
- 1:18:58Speaker 5: So I was producing because I was like, let me
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: figure out how to work independently, you know, away from
- 1:19:03Speaker 5: the studios. And so I always joke with him that
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: I basically interned for Tahir, um, And we did that
- 1:19:10Speaker 5: and produced the show.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: And then we just.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: Got cool doing that. And so that's why when we're
- 1:19:16Speaker 5: on the show, I wound up making fun of them
- 1:19:17Speaker 5: because we're so cool. And then I'll be on another
- 1:19:21Speaker 5: podcast where they'll be like, do your Tahir impression. And
- 1:19:24Speaker 5: I'm like, one, it's weird because he's not here. And two,
- 1:19:27Speaker 5: I don't really have an impression. It's just me making sounds.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: Whenever he talks.
- 1:19:33Speaker 5: It's like his essence, but it's not a good impression
- 1:19:36Speaker 5: at all.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Me and him talk about this. It's not good.
- 1:19:43Speaker 3: At all i'll just take away my eloquence yeah i.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Just dumb everything down.
- 1:19:48Speaker 5: Yeah go but i don't i just think stupid thoughts.
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: No but i i love that.
- 1:19:55Speaker 5: Brother and it just you know it just winds up
- 1:19:57Speaker 5: happening yeah he's a cool guy yeah and they're the
- 1:19:59Speaker 5: ones who wind up clipping it like they whenever i'm
- 1:20:01Speaker 5: on like it'll be him and pat and they wind
- 1:20:04Speaker 5: up that'd be the one they show is me just
- 1:20:06Speaker 5: roasting them for like a minute.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: I i met tahir one time because i went to
- 1:20:11Speaker 2: uh Kevin on stage in Tony Baker comedy show and
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Tahir opened up for him so I was talking to
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: him afterwards I'm like hey man listen I got this
- 1:20:21Speaker 2: pitch for you and listen I pitched it I pitched
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: it I threw that bitch out there I was like
- 1:20:25Speaker 2: I threw that bitch out there listen I'm not saying
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: like I have a podcast and I'm saying it'd be
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: cool if you could be on there He didn't bite that.
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: So I look, can you?
- 1:20:33Speaker 6: He didn't bite that.
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: He's clearly just looking at you. He's like, I'd love
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: for you to be honest. He just flicked his septum
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: fears and like. Exactly.
- 1:20:39Speaker 2: So I was like, all right, can I just get
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: like a repost on one of our clips? He was like,
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: repost ain't going to do anything. But sure, send me
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: your funniest clip or whatever.
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: And I repost it. And that night, I'm talking to
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: these niggas. We're in a group chat. All right, y'all,
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: we got to find the funniest clip. I got to
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: send it to Tahir. Tahir said he'll repost it. I
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: sent it to him.
- 1:20:58Speaker 2: And Tahir is on the internet. He knows how Instagram works.
- 1:21:02Speaker 2: So he didn't repost the video. What Tahir did was
- 1:21:06Speaker 2: he took a screenshot of the video and then posted
- 1:21:10Speaker 2: it on his story.
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: And I was like... You know what? I was like, Tahir.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: You know what? Tahir, you know what? I think it
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: was like Spongebob went back and spent it with the flowers.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: He just... That's called....
- 1:21:22Speaker 5: That's called malicious compliance.
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: That's called weaponized ignorance.
- 1:21:29Speaker 2: I was like, so people know the face, but they
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: have no clue what the video is.
- 1:21:34Speaker 1: So I was like, thank you?
- 1:21:35Speaker 5: He's better than me because I would have said no.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: Nigga, no. I would have said no or they would
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: have been like, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:21:44Speaker 5: Am I getting a high voice so you know I'm lying?
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: Exactly. Where, where, where? I got you. Wow, this is great.
- 1:21:49Speaker 1: Send me your stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I got you. Like,
- 1:21:57Speaker 1: it would have been a whole lot of high voice.
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: And the thing is, like, the screenshot was, like, zoomed
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: in a little bit, too, so it was pixelated. I'm like, Tahir, like,
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: what is that? It was pixelated? Nigga, playing anything.
- 1:22:06Speaker 5: It was more effort to do that than to just
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: play one button.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: All right, nigga. I see. He had to hit the
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: side button.
- 1:22:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: Crop it, zoom it. It was crazy. start a story
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: post it that's alright and the thing is once we
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: finally get I'm gonna zoom in so you don't see
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: the name of the podcast bro literally you couldn't see
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: the shit.
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: That's hilarious so once we get him on his chair
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: because we're gonna get him in these seats I'm gonna
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: bring that shit up I'm like not to here You
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: know how the internet works.
- 1:22:36Speaker 1: I'm going to text him. He's going to be like,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: I don't know what the fuck I'm talking about. He's like, oh,
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: what the fuck are you talking about?
- 1:22:40Speaker 5: No, he's not going to remember, but I'm going to
- 1:22:42Speaker 5: text him.
- 1:22:43Speaker 1: That is funny as shit. Yeah, why are you here?
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: Please don't bring this up. He's like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: I'm going to text him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm going
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: to text him. I'm going to text him. I'm going
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: to text him. He did one of his LA tricks
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: on me. He did. He did the high voice with love. Yeah.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: When a nigga say... Definitely. Well, nigga says they're definitely
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: going to do some shit. Most definitely, yeah. You can
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: be most assured that they're not going to do that shit.
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: I got you. I got you. I got you for sure. No,
- 1:23:13Speaker 1: I'm going to text him and say, they feel some
- 1:23:15Speaker 1: type of way, they said. That's worse.
- 1:23:19Speaker 3: Yo, actually, the dark school, he called you a bitch.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: I don't know what that was about, but. Yeah, man.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: He said you were really weird, man.
- 1:23:29Speaker 5: He said they want you to address it.
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: I just wanted to clear the air. Yeah, I don't. Very,
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: very hostile act. Very hostile act. Actually, I think that's
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: actually hilarious. Bro, I've literally got that shit. I got you.
- 1:23:48Speaker 1: He was bored at the airport probably at the gate.
- 1:23:50Speaker 7: He was probably at the airport eating a hot dog.
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: Show me some love. These dudes are funny. Don't tag him. LOL.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Tag me or something.
- 1:24:06Speaker 5: I love collaborating on an out of focus picture.
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: Very much so. Insane. Very much so. That I made
- 1:24:11Speaker 1: out of focus. This question is pretty in detail. Shout
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: out to Panda Al. All right.
- 1:24:18Speaker 6: You've seamlessly bounced between dark satire and the boys, intense
- 1:24:21Speaker 6: drama and average Joe, and high concept comedy. When you're
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: stepping onto set, how do you mentally shift gears between
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: razor-sharp comedic timing and high-stage dramatic attention?
- 1:24:32Speaker 5: That is.
- 1:24:32Speaker 1: Okay. I almost feel like that was one of the
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: questions we just made up. Yeah, that was... Damn, somebody actually... Okay. Okay,
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: shout out.
- 1:24:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: They're trying to get the inner mechanism.
- 1:24:42Speaker 5: I'll be honest, it's not that deep.
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: It's Muggle Week a little more than Little Week in
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: the Morning, and I read the script. I read the script.
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: It's really not. If the script say, hey, be funny,
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: then I'm funny. If the script say, your mama died,
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: then she died. Bring a tear out. Be funny. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: You are like a professional actor. It's not like it's like. Yeah,
- 1:25:02Speaker 1: it's not that hard. When you're talented and black, it
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: ain't that hard. Sorry. You've been doing it as long
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: as I have. Yeah. You've been doing what? If you
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: put it in years, how long has it been? We
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: don't have to, but I've been doing it. It's okay.
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: Show your age. Before 9-11. Were there towers? It was
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: the first time the towers had attacked. Damn, nigga! He said,
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: it was actually that morning. I didn't know I was... Oh, God.
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: You're talking about the depression. Goddamn. Actually, my first acting
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: gig was in a speakeasy. I came through the back door.
- 1:25:47Speaker 3: My first time was.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: I opened up for the Rat Pack. Yeah, yeah. I
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: was going out with Hattie McDaniels.
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: And.
- 1:25:56Speaker 1: He's like, yeah, man. First time on set, man.
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: Yeah, so I'm walking through the colored entrance. This way.
- 1:26:04Speaker 3: I'm walking through the colored entrance.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: Done drinking from our water fountain.
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: All right, so now we just got some questions that
- 1:26:14Speaker 2: our listeners put in because they want us to answer.
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: Now these questions are just random, just a whole bunch
- 1:26:19Speaker 2: of bullshit.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: This is where a lot of our content comes from,
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: by the way. A lot of our content. Breaking the
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: fourth wall for Okay, I'm very excited.
- 1:26:24Speaker 2: So, like, for instance, I leave first question that I see.
- 1:26:27Speaker 2: Leave first question. I lie to you not. This is
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: the first one.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: All right, I believe you. Would you rather be able
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: to lick your own genitals or have six to eight
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: more nipples? All right, all right, all right. What? All right,
- 1:26:39Speaker 1: all right, all right, all right, all right, all right.
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: Let me stop here. We have a serious person here today.
- 1:26:44Speaker 1: That's a serious question. Would you rather be able to
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: lick your own genitals or have six to eight more nipples? Well, well, well.
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: Do you want to be a cow or do you
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: want to have the ability to do auto fellatio? I
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: guess to be flexible. I'm sorry, I'm not sucking my
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: own dick. I'm not clapping. I mean, it says have
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: the ability to, not that you have to do it.
- 1:27:00Speaker 1: It's the ability to. But how do you find out
- 1:27:03Speaker 1: you have the ability to?
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: You can try.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: You don't have to do it. You can just say it.
- 1:27:06Speaker 1: You don't have to consistently.
- 1:27:08Speaker 5: You don't have to complete.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Consistently. You don't have to finish yourself off. Good enough.
- 1:27:12Speaker 5: I could be a pilot. I don't have to fly.
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. There's a lot of niggas. There's a lot
- 1:27:17Speaker 1: of doctors and lawyers that don't practice. Yeah.
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: I could just be like, oh, I can do this
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: and not fucking bruise my throat.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, I can jump it up and touch a rim.
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: I can dunk it. Yeah, yeah. The road is crazy.
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: Even Batman got to sit down. Yeah. Every nigga don't
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: need a sidekick to the chest.
- 1:27:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: No, definitely the ability. Yeah, not just extra nipples laying around.
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: Because the nipples is definitely happening. That's real. That's 24-7.
- 1:27:42Speaker 1: You know? Nobody knows if you can suck your own
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: dick except for you.
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: And then, again, there comes a point where you got
- 1:27:47Speaker 3: to explain six to eight nipples to somebody.
- 1:27:50Speaker 5: You got to go to the beach.
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: All I'm saying, that's definitely an inconvenience.
- 1:27:52Speaker 5: I'm at the beach with a shirt on like a
- 1:27:54Speaker 5: fat hood nigga.
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: Yeah. With a tank top. Like, what the hell? With
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: a tank top. People got to stop doing that. You
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: got to. Because we see it. Talking about the nigga
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: you was talking about on the cruise. My man. So
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: I went on a cruise, right? Are you on a cruise?
- 1:28:08Speaker 5: I was on a cruise.
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: And we was in. By yourself? Nah, nah, nah, nah, nah.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: It was a family cruise. It was a family cruise.
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: You go on cruises with your family? Hell yeah. Nice, nice,
- 1:28:17Speaker 1: nice wholesome family. I told you.
- 1:28:18Speaker 5: This nigga family love him.
- 1:28:22Speaker 1: He's the golden child. The golden child lives in Florida. Anyway.
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: However, so we on one of the cruise lines, private beaches, right?
- 1:28:33Speaker 2: Because every cruise line has a private beach. And I'm
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: in the ocean. And as I look to my left,
- 1:28:38Speaker 2: I see a.
- 1:28:39Speaker 1: Guy with a.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: fitted cap on and a t-shirt in the ocean in
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: the ocean so like the water is at his shoulders
- 1:28:46Speaker 2: I'm getting shoulder up so I can see he has
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: a t-shirt on and a hat I see him and
- 1:28:49Speaker 2: I'm like this nigga's in the ocean with clothes on
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if he still has his shoes on.
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: Is he wearing Timbs Malcolm he's wearing Timbs right.
- 1:29:01Speaker 2: No, he wasn't wearing Timbs. He wasn't wearing Timbs. I'm
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: happy he wasn't. Because if he was wearing Timbs, it
- 1:29:06Speaker 2: would have been worse.
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: I feel like that's the official. It would have been worse.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: But he had a white tee on. He had his
- 1:29:10Speaker 2: fitted cap on. He had on some black capris.
- 1:29:14Speaker 1: No, he's got capris. But capris is still crazy. Capris
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: in 2026 is still crazy. This was just three weeks ago. Capris.
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: Black capris. You got to look at the specimen we're
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: dealing with. Black capris. Black capris. That's actually very progressive.
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: White socks and slides. All in the ocean. Oh, slides. Slides.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Slides on in the ocean. Like, why do you still
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: have them on? With the socks on. With socks. With
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: the socks on. He opted into wet socks. With socks.
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: Because what do you do? Do you just, like, walk
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: around and dry off? Or do you take that off
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: and wring it out? You literally have to just walk around.
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: You got to air dry. That nigga just walked back
- 1:29:47Speaker 1: on the boat. No, he wore them under his hat.
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: He stopped all that. Was he wearing a Yankee fitted?
- 1:29:54Speaker 2: I don't even know what the hat was. It was
- 1:29:56Speaker 2: probably a Yankee fitted, but it was a color that.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: Wasn't the Yankee fitted. It's an orange Yankee fitted. And
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: they got a Negro league hat on. Who's that politician
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: that wore a green with an emerald green? I'm like, nigga,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: get the fuck out of here. I'll wear a green
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: Yankee fitted to look relatable. Hell nah. I roasted the
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: hell out of him. I'm like, nigga.
- 1:30:14Speaker 5: My uncle got annoyed.
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: Oh, my God. Well, he's there for us. Yeah. He's not, actually.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: Just because his name's Hakeem. We'll get into that later.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: But yeah. So he literally walked out the ocean fully clothed.
- 1:30:26Speaker 1: That's horrible. He was dropping an album, too.
- 1:30:29Speaker 2: I'm like, I could see you going to the beach unprepared.
- 1:30:32Speaker 2: But the thing is, you could at least take your
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: shoes off.
- 1:30:35Speaker 5: No, he wore that specifically for us.
- 1:30:37Speaker 3: He was like Jon Stewart's big brother from Lanterns.
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: Aaron? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: He was like, oh, he's like, I'm bankrolling this album.
- 1:30:45Speaker 3: And I'm like, he's got to be at least 45,
- 1:30:48Speaker 3: 50 at this point.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the other thing. I was like, he's old.
- 1:30:52Speaker 1: Rapping now? You got to bankroll your own album over 40. Yeah.
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: Over 40. Probably over 35, 30. You got to invest
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: in yourself. You got to put that in. You need
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: to get a fucking job. You got to invest in yourself.
- 1:31:05Speaker 2: I'm over here throwing pictures for safe houses, safe places,
- 1:31:09Speaker 2: and you're trying to get Wiz Khalifa on the next track.
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Yes. Two different lengths. Me and your other brother are
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: building bunkers. Yes. Two different... You are thinking about ad-libs
- 1:31:17Speaker 1: for your rap. That's crazy. That nigga's a bum. Anyway.
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: All right. Next question. Okay.
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: Women talk about taking their bra off after a long day.
- 1:31:29Speaker 2: What's the male equivalent?
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: Draws. No, no, no, no. That would be me. Because
- 1:31:37Speaker 1: the moment I get home... Draws is coming off in
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: magician shorts. Socks, honestly. I was going to say, for me,
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: it's my socks. I think it's sneakers or socks or
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: something like that. It's socks.
- 1:31:46Speaker 5: Because I didn't even learn to wear comfortable clothes around
- 1:31:48Speaker 5: the house until I met, like, until I had, like,
- 1:31:51Speaker 5: girlfriends I was living with.
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: Hmm. You know what I mean?
- 1:31:53Speaker 5: Because they got nightclothes. They got nightclothes.
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: Are you just wearing jeans in the house all day?
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: Jeans all day. Just shitty shirts and jeans. Jeans in
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: the house? I look like a nigga at the beach.
- 1:32:03Speaker 7: You feel uncomfortable in your house?
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: I'm comfortable, man. Tied, dressed like Cassidy all day long.
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: Just like Cassidy. Cassidy all day long. I'm dressed like
- 1:32:15Speaker 1: a hustler. I'm eating cereal in the fitted. Yeah, man.
- 1:32:21Speaker 6: I didn't even... Like, come on. Put the suit on
- 1:32:23Speaker 6: and put your in-house suit on.
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Dressed like Tourette's. He was in his Tourette's era
- 1:32:28Speaker 1: all day. Tourette's. I didn't even know.
- 1:32:30Speaker 5: People would just walk around in pajama pants and stuff
- 1:32:32Speaker 5: at the house.
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Yeah, you get comfortable. Because also, I'm scared people are
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: going to bust in, so I got to be ready
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: to fight. That makes sense. I can't defend myself unless
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: I have these. Lee Jean. Yeah, I don't want to
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: be in.
- 1:32:42Speaker 5: Capris or just dick out.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't want to be loose. I don't want
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: to be loose. I don't want to fight. That's an advantage.
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: That's actually a deterrent. Like, yeah, you want to fight
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: me and my dick out. What's up? Comfortable to dress
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: like Chuck Norris all day. You against me and him. Because, listen,
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: as soon as I ping it down, it's going to
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: be on you. So now you're losing twice. We're going
- 1:33:05Speaker 1: to come at you from both sides. That's crazy. You're losing.
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: You ever read Sun Tzu, The Art of War? It's
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: going to be on you. I'm going to practice Dick Tzu. Dicks.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: Moving like Eddie from Tekken. Dicks. Dicks. Dicks. Dicks. Dicks.
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: Dicks.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: Dicks. Dicks. All of a sudden, drugs are coming through.
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: I know, right? I'm like, yeah, I play with Eddie
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: Garner on TV. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know what you're
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's stupid. Oh, my gosh.
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: That is crazy. I got... You have a question? I
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: got two more. You can let you go. All right,
- 1:33:55Speaker 1: I have one. One is.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: All right, you don't have... Obviously, you don't have to
- 1:33:59Speaker 3: tell us your money. What is the show or role
- 1:34:01Speaker 3: that was like, all right, this was the biggest, like, oh, yeah, this.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: Mama, I made it.
- 1:34:07Speaker 3: It could be the first initial, like, ooh, I'm going
- 1:34:10Speaker 3: to be good off this. And then another one, like,
- 1:34:11Speaker 3: just your biggest ever.
- 1:34:12Speaker 5: My very first paycheck was huge to me because.
- 1:34:15Speaker 1: I was ESPN. Well, no, not even that. That was $ 100. Oh, wow. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:34:21Speaker 5: Back then, $ 100 went a lot farther. Well, also, I
- 1:34:23Speaker 5: wasn't in a union. It was a non-union commercial. So
- 1:34:27Speaker 5: it was $ 100 flat. They could air that today. I
- 1:34:30Speaker 5: won't get another dollar from that. But my very first
- 1:34:33Speaker 5: series regular check, Luis Guzman, show called Louie, who y'all
- 1:34:38Speaker 5: know from Traffic and from Scarface, or no, Carlitos Way
- 1:34:45Speaker 5: and a bunch of other stuff. And that was my
- 1:34:50Speaker 5: first big paycheck, because I remember I was in Harlem Tutorate,
- 1:34:53Speaker 5: and I was with Shaka King, who y'all now know
- 1:34:56Speaker 5: as the director of Judas and the Black Messiah.
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: Oh, shit, yeah.
- 1:34:59Speaker 5: Yeah, and I remember going to him like, I don't
- 1:35:02Speaker 5: know what I'm going to do, man.
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: Like, I'm making.
- 1:35:04Speaker 5: gonna pay me. I don't know how to not be broke. Like,
- 1:35:07Speaker 5: I don't know who I am.
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm changing. I can feel myself changing. I'm like,
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: I feel like I'm changing. Like, you're not getting this.
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: It's $ 300. I was like, I've already started dating white women.
- 1:35:19Speaker 5: I don't know what to do with this generational wealth.
- 1:35:24Speaker 1: I was done.
- 1:35:25Speaker 5: But if I'm being honest, my biggest paycheck for a
- 1:35:27Speaker 5: show is this show right now.
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: Oh, really? I would have guessed maybe as you were
- 1:35:31Speaker 1: in the office. Fuck no. Fuck no. Just because of
- 1:35:41Speaker 1: the networks themselves. No.
- 1:35:43Speaker 5: Because The Office, I'm in one episode.
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:35:47Speaker 5: And I'm a guest. So you don't get paid nothing.
- 1:35:50Speaker 5: You know, you get paid like maybe five to ten
- 1:35:52Speaker 5: grand or something like that for being a guest.
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: Nothing. I mean, that's... This nigga is rich.
- 1:36:01Speaker 5: That would make my decade right there.
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: Let me tell you something. That would change my fucking
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: life right now. You hear me good. I'll make sure
- 1:36:10Speaker 1: you have it for 10 grand. Don't let this studio
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: and these Jordans fool you. That would change my life.
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: You see this nice neighborhood? All these cobblestones or whatever
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: the fuck it is. I'll cobble your stones. For 5,000 dollars.
- 1:36:23Speaker 5: But y'all get paid really like guest star roles is
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: like and I say that because it's like if I
- 1:36:27Speaker 5: only get one guest.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: Star role that's it I'm done.
- 1:36:31Speaker 5: But this average show is actually the biggest because you
- 1:36:34Speaker 5: know we don't have quotes necessarily no more but I'm
- 1:36:37Speaker 5: not making less than I did yesterday for a show
- 1:36:41Speaker 5: so this is a big now they cheap out in
- 1:36:43Speaker 5: every other way but my general paycheck is fine you
- 1:36:48Speaker 5: know alright this is my last question okay It's two-part.
- 1:36:53Speaker 1: What's your role that you're most proud of? And then
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: there's a role that you're like, why the fuck did
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: I do that?
- 1:37:00Speaker 5: The role that I'm most proud of that I did
- 1:37:02Speaker 5: consistently was Timeless. My favorite role that I did in
- 1:37:07Speaker 5: general was I was opposite Regina King in Southland. It's
- 1:37:11Speaker 5: like gritty cop show.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Okay, I remember that.
- 1:37:14Speaker 5: Yeah, where I got shot in the head. And I
- 1:37:18Speaker 5: didn't realize it. and was dealing with that. So that
- 1:37:21Speaker 5: was one of my favorite roles. The role, I've enjoyed
- 1:37:25Speaker 5: every role I've.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Ever played in my entire career, period.
- 1:37:28Speaker 5: But the role that I debated the most about was
- 1:37:32Speaker 5: when I did Sopranos.
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: Because I played a crack dealer on Sopranos.
- 1:37:38Speaker 5: Two or five, watching too much television. Tony comes back
- 1:37:43Speaker 5: to the old neighborhood to show his kid what the
- 1:37:45Speaker 5: neighborhood is like.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: Oh, that was you. That was me. That was you.
- 1:37:49Speaker 1: I was like, this nigga loves his friend. Oh, yes, you. Yes.
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: You were the mullion. Oh, shit. Yes. When he takes
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: it to the neighborhood, and I'm like.
- 1:38:00Speaker 5: Smoke crack and crank, nigga. That's crazy.
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: You just started a rewatch. Thank you.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: So that was the one I debated, because I was like,
- 1:38:10Speaker 5: I'm playing a crack dealer. Like- Like, where'd it go, stereotypes? So, like,
- 1:38:15Speaker 5: I was hesitant, because, like, my first two roles were, like,
- 1:38:19Speaker 5: drug dealer and basketball player. I was like, I don't
- 1:38:22Speaker 5: think I'm moving society.
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: Forward at all. You felt like you were falling right.
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: You could see yourself going down there. Am I perpetuating
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: serial types? I was like, I think I'm the ops.
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: Am I about to be typecast as the rest of
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: my career?
- 1:38:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:38:32Speaker 5: It was so uncomfortable. So I wasn't, I wasn't, that
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: was the one where I was most hesitant. But then
- 1:38:38Speaker 5: I was like, hey, these Italians are playing mobsters.
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: That's fine. Yeah, yeah. I was like, what do we do?
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: Why should I feel shame if they don't?
- 1:38:45Speaker 5: Yeah, I was like, get me an Emmy for this crap.
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: Every second they say gabagoo. Yeah. Yeah, this guy's a goobagabaga.
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: Come on, man. I could be on here. You get
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: your mother with that mouth.
- 1:38:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:38:57Speaker 5: So that was the one I most contemplated was like, but,
- 1:39:00Speaker 5: and I think I've talked about this. It's why my
- 1:39:03Speaker 5: career has such a change afterwards. It's because I didn't
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: want to do that consistently. So that's why I play
- 1:39:11Speaker 5: a lot of super intelligent characters or the smart guy
- 1:39:14Speaker 5: or I do whatever. Because I'm trying to live past
- 1:39:17Speaker 5: the shame of playing a crack dealer and basketball player
- 1:39:20Speaker 5: number two.
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:39:21Speaker 3: And it's so funny because it's crazy how much you
- 1:39:24Speaker 3: feel that so much far removed from it. Because that
- 1:39:28Speaker 3: wasn't a long, really, that was like a five minute,
- 1:39:31Speaker 3: not even.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: It's like two minutes. Yeah. It's not crazy. And it's
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: crazy to have that little, that stayed with you.
- 1:39:38Speaker 5: Oh, my black guilt is forever. It's like, hey, you
- 1:39:41Speaker 5: got to play nerds now, man. You got to toe
- 1:39:45Speaker 5: the line. You set us back, man. You got to
- 1:39:46Speaker 5: do something. And I remember I was part of an
- 1:39:49Speaker 5: improv team at the time. And when I left New York,
- 1:39:54Speaker 5: they threw me, they roasted me. And so I had
- 1:39:58Speaker 5: a nonprofit theater company at the time. I was devoted
- 1:40:00Speaker 5: to diversity and all of this and blah, blah, blah.
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: Voices of the underrepresented. And I do the same thing
- 1:40:06Speaker 5: when I'm in LA. And so they described my theater company.
- 1:40:10Speaker 5: It was like, he's voices of underrepresented, multi-ethnic, really trying
- 1:40:13Speaker 5: to lift his people. And here's a scene of him
- 1:40:15Speaker 5: from The Sopranos selling crack.
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: And here we have.
- 1:40:22Speaker 5: Our founder and benefactor as crackhead number four.
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: Enjoy.
- 1:40:30Speaker 5: I was like, you got that. Yeah, yeah, lights went down.
- 1:40:34Speaker 5: I was like, oh, just for this two minutes?
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: Yeah, crack. Oh, god damn. Oh, man. Thank you for
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: coming by, man. Yeah, it was fun, man.
