- 0:01I'm Mac McGrath, CEO of National Streaming Sports, and I'm
- 0:05excited to tell you about our Roku Sports channel already has
- 0:10over 12,000 followers, 20 podcasts, over 70 weekly shows
- 0:16and a 3.4 star rating. Our channel is anchored by great
- 0:23morning shows, afternoon shows and nighttime shows with great
- 0:28shows in between. You're watching Mac and Jack on
- 0:50national Streaming Sport. And here we are, Jack.
- 1:08It's a mid week. It's hump day.
- 1:10And boy, the hits keep coming here on National Streaming
- 1:14Sports Roku channel. We're also on YouTube and we'll
- 1:16be on a lot of different sports today.
- 1:20Thank you all for tuning in as you always do on our show, Jack.
- 1:25A lot of things, a lot of news in the NFL and it always is.
- 1:30And there was a heck of a firestorm on our on our channel
- 1:36yesterday. I mean, the dust has settled.
- 1:38There was a lot with the Philadelphia, Atlanta game.
- 1:42And I can't let this go because I want to get my $0.02.
- 1:46And I imagine you want to get your two cents in on this too.
- 1:49So the Eagles ended up losing to the Atlanta Falcons.
- 1:55Falcons on on Monday night. Now some blamed Barkley with
- 2:00dropping the ball he should have caught which would have been a
- 2:03first down and the game would have been over.
- 2:06The play calling of why they went for it twice on 4th down
- 2:11and didn't make it. Why throw the ball in that spot
- 2:14at all and kick the field goal when they could have ran the
- 2:17ball? Minnesota had one time out left,
- 2:19ran the ball even if he doesn't make the first down.
- 2:23Vikings call a timeout, run the ball again.
- 2:26Atlanta. Atlanta.
- 2:28Atlanta. At the end of the game, I'm
- 2:30talking about right now. So if Atlanta, if, if the
- 2:38Philadelphia Eagles run the ball again after they call a timeout,
- 2:42now here you are, Minnesota, you have about 30 seconds left, 39
- 2:46seconds left and you got to you've got to drive the length
- 2:49of the field. Even if the Philadelphia Eagles
- 2:52didn't pick up the first down, that's worst case scenario.
- 2:55Best case, Barkley picks up the first down.
- 2:58Game over, scores a touchdown, game over.
- 3:01They didn't do it. They kicked the field goal after
- 3:04not making the third down play. They kick off and Minnesota gets
- 3:07the ball back with a minute 39 left.
- 3:11So again, defensive they calling comes into question because they
- 3:16put no pressure on Kirk Cousins at all in a mobile quarterback
- 3:20and he drives the ball down the field against the soft bone
- 3:23called the prevent defense and he drives them down and he
- 3:27scores with like, I don't know what was it, Jack 10 seconds
- 3:30left 20. Seconds.
- 3:30No, they're like 34 seconds left.
- 3:33No, the timeline is a little if they were to have had they run
- 3:37the ball, they would have had a little more time.
- 3:40I I'm not sure how much Falcons had a time out.
- 3:44I don't want to say the exact timeline, but I do know that
- 3:47they had third and three, basically the Eagles OK, and
- 3:52they threw the, you know, short past the Barkley.
- 3:55Had he caught it, he would have gotten the first down.
- 3:58Game would have been over, but he dropped the ball.
- 4:01But people are willing to give Barclay a pass because it was
- 4:06just one play. He played a good game.
- 4:08On balance, these things happen. You do drop balls.
- 4:13It's unfortunate, you know, people upset about it, but they
- 4:17don't want to blame him directly.
- 4:19So they blame Nick Siriani, the coach Mack.
- 4:22But let's look at it this way. Let's make believe Nick Siriani
- 4:27ran the ball. He has two chances to make a
- 4:31first down with a third and three.
- 4:34Falcons are the plate against the run.
- 4:36Let's say the Falcons stop them. They go put on 3rd down and
- 4:40let's say now it's fourth and one and the Falcons stop them.
- 4:45Falcons would still have time to get into field goal range.
- 4:48We're living in an era at a lawn tickets and the Eagles were
- 4:52three points ahead at that, .3 points ahead and had the Falcons
- 4:59tied the game up, had the Eagles hypothetically not gotten the
- 5:03first down? Let's be honest, it's third and
- 5:06three and if you hand the ball off twice, we don't know whether
- 5:10they get the first down or not. Good morning.
- 5:20Well, good, good stuff Sonia, but that's it.
- 5:23Brought back memories, Mac and myself going back and forth and,
- 5:29you know, in an NFL game. And ironically, the Eagles would
- 5:32go on to win the Super Bowl, so it was all irrelevant there.
- 5:37When Mack mentioned Minnesota a couple of times, I corrected
- 5:40them once. I didn't a second time.
- 5:42I was probably thinking because he was referring to Kirk
- 5:45Cousins, he was conditioned in his head, understandably so.
- 5:50Have Kirk Cousins been a Viking quarterback, not a Falcon
- 5:54quarterback? And, you know, where we had our
- 5:57discussions back and forth, that was like a theory talk, whether
- 6:02they should have gone for this, gone for that.
- 6:04But as a thing, as things turned out, the year didn't go too well
- 6:07for the Falcons. And obviously, it went great for
- 6:11the Eagles, you know, going on to win the Super Bowl.
- 6:13And Saquon Barkley, even if he retired hypothetically, which
- 6:18he's not going to do, of course, just this one season at
- 6:22Philadelphia, you know, he'd be an Eagle, if not legend, you
- 6:27know, one of their more legacy players because he, you know,
- 6:31did help deliver them in large part of Super Bowl.
- 6:35And good morning, Jack. I got kicked out right there as
- 6:39the video was ending. And good morning to everyone.
- 6:42Welcome to the Mack and Jack show.
- 6:43Good morning to you, Brett. And of course, we are continuing
- 6:48to honor Mack, the creator and producer extraordinaire of this
- 6:52great network, National Streaming Sports, formerly
- 6:55Northeast Professional Sports. We did a whole show yesterday.
- 6:58You guys checked that out on socials continue to support us.
- 7:02The show will go on with our heavily host in the sky there,
- 7:06Mac, unfortunately, you know, transitioning, but we are
- 7:10continuing to honor him and we will continue to do so.
- 7:14I like what Byron Williams said yesterday, Jack, on our show,
- 7:18it's Mac day, Mac week. And I like to think it's Mac
- 7:22month. I mean, this is the month of
- 7:23May. So all those, so we're going to
- 7:25continue to honor him not just this month, but always.
- 7:28Well, I'm not going to be stubborn talking about Mac.
- 7:31I'm going to joke around the bottom to the point where some
- 7:35people might even think, you know, how can he say that?
- 7:38You know, it's disrespectful. No, it's not disrespectful.
- 7:41Mac is probably laughing about it now.
- 7:44On tonight's show, I do a boxing show from 7:00 to 8:00 PM
- 7:48Eastern Time on this network with Franklin Terzo called Glove
- 7:52Fist. And whenever we started the
- 7:54show, it's around because I have on the Rocky shirt.
- 7:58I don't know whether you remember the movie Rocky one day
- 8:00interviewed Rocky Challenger and the Meat Factory, and Paulie's
- 8:05trying to get his face in the background.
- 8:06That was Mac. Always in the beginning of the
- 8:08show, we've seen Mac in the back and someone say, who's that guy
- 8:12in the back? Quickly, you know, like Mac
- 8:15would be there and I would joke about Mac, you know, getting on
- 8:18camera and all and but you know, we had to have to talk about
- 8:22sports here. You know, as much as everyone
- 8:25loves Mack, if we talked about him the full show.
- 8:29Now to the average viewer who isn't familiar with Mack at all
- 8:34and is tuning into this show, all of a sudden they say all
- 8:37condolences and then they change the channel.
- 8:41They are here to talk about sports.
- 8:43I, I enjoy referring to Mack once in a while in different
- 8:47ways, cuz Mack would sometimes drive me crazy things not to
- 8:51mean that he was wrong and I was right, but some of the theories,
- 8:55some of the discussions, you know, Matt called me a bit of
- 8:59an, an instigate and he's correct.
- 9:01I am one. But Matt could be one himself.
- 9:04You know, he tried to ride me to try to get certain reactions,
- 9:09you know, so we'd have a lot of, we'd have a lot of fun with
- 9:12that. But the fondness always
- 9:14remained. The bond always remained, and if
- 9:18we ever did have like a disagreement, we'd ever be angry
- 9:22with one another. By the next morning when we did
- 9:24the show, that would be past history.
- 9:26It would be as if you know that type of negativity never
- 9:31existed. Yeah, we got a couple comments,
- 9:34of course, CJ, we did a a video clip yesterday and actually had
- 9:39you on one of them, he said even though they had created
- 9:41differences. Good morning panel.
- 9:43His heartfelt condolences to Mac and his family and basically
- 9:48he's grateful for the opportunity to be on the
- 9:50network. He said Matt with a class act
- 9:52always brought balance to network.
- 9:54Thoughts and prayers go out to Jack as I know this is difficult
- 9:58for him and his family. So definitely prayers to you.
- 10:01And Richard said that Max coaching experience showed up in
- 10:04that clip. So good morning to both of you
- 10:06guys. Got a little bit of time for.
- 10:07Linda is Linda would have produced the Linda McGrath along
- 10:11with Max. I mean, you know, prayers for
- 10:15Linda there. Yeah.
- 10:18From my end, Mac lives on OK 'cause Mac, you know, always
- 10:24going to be a presence. You know my life, especially
- 10:27whenever I do this show. And thank heavens we have like
- 10:31YouTube. I have so much footage of Mac
- 10:34and myself and go to and I think it's a continuation with Mac.
- 10:40It to me, it's not, it's not like he's gone.
- 10:43It's. A comma.
- 10:43It's not a period. Yeah, that's what I like too,
- 10:45Jack. All right, let's talk some NBA
- 10:47news. Of course, the Houston, Houston
- 10:50Rockets, the Warriors, all these NBA player and games going on
- 10:54right now. Golden State defeated the
- 10:56Rockets in Game 7A thriller Sunday night to advance to the
- 11:02second round where they will face the Minnesota Timberwolves.
- 11:05This is a very notable 6 versus #7 seed matchup.
- 11:10Jack, what were your thoughts? Oh, absolutely.
- 11:13You know, before last night's game, it's a Game 7.
- 11:16Golden State was extremely, extremely calm.
- 11:20The attitude, we've been here before.
- 11:22We know what it takes. We're not worried.
- 11:25And the Houston Rockets hadn't been in that situation, even
- 11:29though they were #2 seed, you know, in a way, it was good that
- 11:33they got it to a Game 7. And being on their homecourt,
- 11:37too, I'm sure they had expectations that they would get
- 11:41over the top against Golden State.
- 11:44But Golden State, I mean, was in command all the way.
- 11:47And I learned a little bit of a lesson here.
- 11:50I I'm quick to dismiss the experience fact that come to
- 11:55playoffs because you're playing the whole regular season, you're
- 11:58playing against other teams. But Golden State had this quiet
- 12:03confidence about them as if they like knew they were going to win
- 12:07the game. They knew what it took.
- 12:09And the Houston Rockets looked like they were been on the
- 12:11nervous side right off the end. And you knew Houston was in
- 12:15trouble by, you know, half time when they were down like 1012
- 12:20points. I forgot.
- 12:22And Steph Curry, his only points he scored was a three-point
- 12:27there right before half time. Steph Curry hadn't even gotten
- 12:32started yet and Houston is down double digits at the half.
- 12:37You kind of knew Houston wasn't coming back because Steph Curry
- 12:41was going to start taking it to another level, which he did.
- 12:46I think he had 22. Buddy Hield was really
- 12:49outstanding the first half, you know, he scored over 20 points
- 12:54and and Golden State got it done.
- 12:57They were never threatened, never threatened in this game.
- 13:00They just took command from the outset.
- 13:03They kept it and kept their focus and now they advance and
- 13:06play the Timberwolves and what a terrific series.
- 13:10I mean. Anthony Edwards is going to
- 13:13bring a ton of energy. You know, you talk about
- 13:16Draymond Green off the board, so you got Rudy Gobert there.
- 13:21Does Anthony Edwards cancel out Steph Curry?
- 13:24In a way? I think he does.
- 13:27I mean, I think Anthony Edwards could step up.
- 13:29Now you've got Julius Randall. Does he cancel out Jimmy Butler?
- 13:33I mean, it's a very intriguing series.
- 13:36I don't think the experience factor is going to play in it
- 13:40all the way it did against Houston.
- 13:41You got the feeling Houston maybe was a little uptight, in
- 13:45awe. The Timberwolves are the most
- 13:48carefree team in the NFL. They went in very boldly against
- 13:53the Lakers. It's, it's, it's, it's like
- 13:56they're willing to roll the dice.
- 13:58They'll run from the roulette, the roulette, you know, area the
- 14:02casino to the blackjack area back and forth and have fun
- 14:06with, you know, bundle of money. And the Timberwolves last year
- 14:11got eliminated, you know, in the conference, the West conference
- 14:15finals against the Dallas maps. So it's not like they haven't
- 14:21been there. They've been on the brink of
- 14:23getting to the finals. Not Julius Randle, who came open
- 14:26the trade for Karl Anthony Towns.
- 14:29So we'll see. It's a terrific series.
- 14:32And then the other series, too, Denver and OK C, whoever wins
- 14:37the Denver OKC series, you don't know whether they're going to be
- 14:42favored, you know, against the Timberwolves, the Golden State
- 14:47or whatever. But OKC is the favorite at this
- 14:50moment. But it's a question of OKC
- 14:54having to prove themselves in the playoffs for the first time.
- 14:58And they're not going to have an easy ride getting into the
- 15:00Finals by any means, because they're going to have a very
- 15:03tough Denver Nugget team who I think they should beat.
- 15:06I I get the feeling Denver with the coaching change they got by
- 15:11the Clippers, but in large part the Nuggets beat the Clippers
- 15:15Sonia, because the Clippers blue game one of that series to the
- 15:20Nuggets after leading the whole way and letting that game get
- 15:23away. And I said that's going to come
- 15:25back to haunt them and that I think the Nuggets could win this
- 15:28now in seven games because the Clippers open the door for them.
- 15:33Yeah, it's funny you mentioned that.
- 15:35Of course, the Timberwolves Golden State game coming up,
- 15:40it's going to be a very notable #6 verse #7 seed matchup.
- 15:44Wow. I mean, talk about winning to
- 15:47stay in umm. I want to put a pin there real
- 15:50quick because I want to also talk about the fact that it was
- 15:54that coaching change with Denver.
- 15:56And so a lot of people predicted that that was going to get them
- 16:00basically eliminate right away. But like you said, the Clippers
- 16:03giving up that first game was the momentum that the Nuggets
- 16:07needed to stay in. And so they are still in it.
- 16:11And before the coaching change, they were projected to go very
- 16:14deep into the playoffs chat. No, I yes and no.
- 16:20It's far as being projected to go deep in the playoffs because
- 16:23Denver had been floundering somewhat with Mark Malone.
- 16:27He and the GM supposedly reportedly won much different
- 16:31pages. That be a lot of tension within
- 16:35the organization. And they got by.
- 16:39They got by an LA Clipper team. Let's, let's face it, it's a
- 16:42little dysfunctional. I have to stop the thought to
- 16:46see what Linda McGrath did. Yeah.
- 16:47Good morning, Miss. Whenever.
- 16:49Linda talks I regarded like an important bulletin that that is
- 16:53newsworthy always. Will be.
- 16:56The banter will always be classic.
- 16:58Much love to everyone who will continue to keep Max Stream
- 17:01alive. Thanks a lot, Linda.
- 17:03And and this shows you how much this network meant to the
- 17:08McGrath that Linda is in listening this morning.
- 17:12I mean, we didn't know that. And here she is tuning into the
- 17:15show and we always think, you know, Linda, you and Mac and and
- 17:20I'm going to continue to joke about Mac back and forth.
- 17:23Mac would have loved it like you say.
- 17:25OK And I know Mac is giving it back to me because when I kind
- 17:30of flop on something I hear Mac just laughing but not but in a
- 17:36fun way where I could laugh along with him.
- 17:44We just, I really, I really wanted to speak to Miss Linda,
- 17:46too. Thank you so much, Miss Linda,
- 17:49for chiming in this morning. Hope you caught a little
- 17:51flashback from the past that we started to show with.
- 17:54I'm continuing to pray for you as always, and so grateful for
- 17:57the opportunity to know you. And Matt, we love you and we
- 18:01just will continue to do exactly what we're supposed to do.
- 18:05Yeah, Jack, so definitely, you know, like you said, you don't.
- 18:09Yes and no. You know, about the Denver
- 18:12Nuggets going deeply into the playoffs now with the coaching
- 18:16change. What were your thoughts on that?
- 18:18Yeah, they let's see what they do against OKC.
- 18:23If they get eliminated in let's say 5 or 6 games against OKC,
- 18:28what good was the coaching change?
- 18:30I mean, this isn't the objective.
- 18:32They won one series. They won one series, so I don't
- 18:38want to hear about the coaching change helping.
- 18:41In other words, Sonia, it's like the jury still out on the Denver
- 18:45Nuggets. We have to see what they do
- 18:48going forward. Something about this Clipper
- 18:51team, You know, I just didn't like to have a really good
- 18:54coach, the Clippers and Tyron Lou, Kawhi Leonard didn't take
- 18:59it up another level. He played OK against Denver.
- 19:03He was OK. But for someone who's
- 19:06potentially A superstar, you wonder about Kawhi Leonard.
- 19:13Is he, has he been a disappointment?
- 19:15That's a good debate question. I got to write these debate
- 19:18questions down. You know, we have a Saturday
- 19:20show and whenever I think of something really good, I'm
- 19:24walking outside and I don't have a pen and pad.
- 19:29I'm talking to you. I'm not going to stop and get a
- 19:31pen and pad and write it down and then you can get it later.
- 19:35But that's a great question. Because Kawhi Leonard was
- 19:38regarded in some circles at some point as one of the future
- 19:43greats in the NBA. In fact, Max Kellerman, you
- 19:46know, I haven't spoken to Max for a while, but he was a friend
- 19:49when he used to do the show on first take.
- 19:52He even raided at one point. Listen to this Kawhi Leonard,
- 19:56the head of Kobe Bryant, he thought he has to.
- 19:59Now it seems far fetched. It it's really far fetched.
- 20:04At the time he said it, I didn't agree with it, but it didn't
- 20:08come under the classification of being ridiculous.
- 20:12I didn't think you could just dismiss it, Say I get out of
- 20:15here, you're out of your mind. I I'm not even going to dignify
- 20:18it. It was worth dignifying and
- 20:20talking about. It had some merit as far as
- 20:23being a discussion. Because keep in mind, Kawhi
- 20:26Leonard, remember the San Antonio Spurs win the NBA
- 20:29championship. Kawhi Leonard, it's one year
- 20:32with the Toronto Raptors wins the NBA championship.
- 20:36So he was trending on an an amazing career.
- 20:39But with the Clippers, he hasn't played like a superstar.
- 20:44He's played like a very, very good player, extremely good
- 20:48player. But we were more out of them and
- 20:51he didn't supply it in that series.
- 20:54Maybe he deferred to James Harden a little more than he
- 20:57should have, but I don't regard Harden as a selfish player.
- 21:00He because he distributes the ball, you know, so much.
- 21:05But let's see what Denver does against OKC.
- 21:08Yeah, Speaking of distributing so much, Miss Linda coming back
- 21:13saying I'm always, I'll always be with, I'm always be here with
- 21:17all of you as you are with us. So we appreciate you, Miss
- 21:21Linda. And I'll be joking with Mac.
- 21:24Yeah. You know, stuff like he's
- 21:27staying and so on. And, you know, I one thing I'll
- 21:31never have an answer to. I'll never have an answer to
- 21:34this. I don't think even Linda knows
- 21:36the answer. Who drove who more crazy did I
- 21:39drive? Mack more crazier than he drives
- 21:42me more crazy in our discussions.
- 21:44I don't know whether I'll ever have a true answer to that.
- 21:47I suppose. Yeah, I, I could have
- 21:50potentially driven him more crazy, but Mack had thicker skin
- 21:53than me, so he just, you know, fluffed off my nonsense.
- 21:58But when Mac would come up with some sports theme that I thought
- 22:02was way off base, I would go on a real tangent about it.
- 22:05So I guess the answer is he throw me a lot more crazy
- 22:09because he had a better personality than I have a
- 22:12stronger foundation. Yeah, and good morning to you
- 22:17Bryant aren't B Strilla from the 1A cheat three Toes podcast.
- 22:21He says good morning Jack and Sonya, of course we continue to
- 22:25sprinkle Mac in. This is how we continue to live
- 22:27the legacy because he's always no job I'm.
- 22:31Cutting in. Except don't forget the thought
- 22:33You and Miss Strilla did an amazing job for that production
- 22:37for Mac. For people who haven't seen it,
- 22:40they tell them how they could go to YouTube to try to catch that
- 22:44one. One particular show for those
- 22:46you know who know Mac or want to know about him.
- 22:50Yeah, So thank you so much for that, Jack.
- 22:52Yesterday, I actually got the idea.
- 22:55Once we learned of Mac's transition on Saturday, it was
- 22:58Jack, myself and Jay Train wrapped up the debate show that
- 23:01we were talking about on Saturday morning.
- 23:03As we were sitting backstage, literally like moments after the
- 23:06show, Miss Linda calls and gives Jack the the unfortunate news.
- 23:12And so we got off the off the air.
- 23:15I thought about it for a little bit and I wanted to put together
- 23:17something where people could pay tribute to Mac.
- 23:20So I got a lot of video clips together.
- 23:23I didn't know how to merge them for presentation purposes, so I
- 23:26reached out to Bistrilla and he and I literally stayed up all
- 23:30night or most of the night Saturday night getting these
- 23:33clips together. And yesterday's show, we did
- 23:36clips of Mac, some of his greatest moments with a lot of
- 23:40the network past and present. And I reached out to all the
- 23:44contacts I had known through Mac and let them know what we were
- 23:48doing. And everybody came on the show
- 23:49yesterday, offered words of support to Miss Linda, of
- 23:54course, share their fondest memories of Mac.
- 23:57And all of us vowed to continue to live Mac's legacy and to
- 24:01continue with the humor that he would want us to have.
- 24:04There were some tears, but All in all, we did it Max style so
- 24:08you could go on our network. Of course, National Streaming
- 24:11Sports, we're on Roku that was aired on there.
- 24:14I will replay it again once there's another plug.
- 24:17It's usually going to be later in the evening.
- 24:19It also ran again yesterday at 4:00 PM.
- 24:21It's also on the National Streaming Sports YouTube page.
- 24:25All you need to do is go to the episode for yesterday, May 4th,
- 24:292025. The show is one hour and 16
- 24:32minutes, but it is extremely profound and it was definitely
- 24:36an honor to do something so great for such a great man.
- 24:42You know, it's funny. I'm thinking of some of the
- 24:45shows we did where we had some laughs, where I reflect back and
- 24:49one of them, we had one episode when we were talking about Jim
- 24:55Jeff called former two time Super Bowl champion with the
- 24:58Dallas Cowboys, 107 sacks in his NFL career.
- 25:02Played 15 years, 12 for Dallas, 3 for Buffalo, Mayhem and Mac.
- 25:07With debating, I brought this question up whether a woman
- 25:11would ever play in the NFL. And I always like, I always like
- 25:15to look at the path for something.
- 25:17And you're never going to get a woman as a wide receiver,
- 25:19running back. I got to be honest, the
- 25:21quarterback. But I thought, you know, women's
- 25:24soccer, you have some awesome women's soccer players.
- 25:28I can maybe see a field goal kicker.
- 25:31Maybe the men could kick the ball, you know, a little
- 25:35further. But if you get a woman who's
- 25:38amazingly accurate from within 50 yards, I, I think the women
- 25:42out there would be kick football up to 50 yards, I would guess.
- 25:45And if you have one with amazing accuracy, there's always a
- 25:49chance a team picks her up. That was my way of thinking.
- 25:54So it would be so we would go back and put Jim Jeffcoat, who
- 25:58has, you know, a daughter who plays sports, says, yeah, I
- 26:02think someday they'll be a woman in the NFL.
- 26:05You know, maybe it's a kick or whatever.
- 26:07And I said, yeah, I think some way it'll be some way somehow
- 26:12you get a woman. You know, in the NFL, it's a
- 26:15kick at some point, a soccer player.
- 26:18And Mac said, get out of here. You're too out of your mind.
- 26:22That's never going to happen. You know, he like, he kind of
- 26:25laughed at the two of us. It was kind of funny in a way.
- 26:28But the truth of the matter is a reflection, no offense on your
- 26:32Mac is right. You're not going to have a woman
- 26:34in the NFL yet. Maybe you want to debate if you
- 26:38get a phenomenal woman basketball player, can she hold
- 26:44a place on the bench, never play on the man's team, be like a 12,
- 26:50no pun intended, 12 man, 12 woman, whatever you want to call
- 26:53her. Can she have barely make the
- 26:56roster, never play at the end of the bench?
- 27:00And I'm, and I'm talking in terms of if it's a superstar
- 27:04women's basketball player superstar a lot better than the
- 27:09Caitlin Clarkson, Angel Reese's better than that.
- 27:12They they wouldn't be good enough to, you know, you know,
- 27:16come anywhere close to holding an NBA roster spot.
- 27:20But if you get a Michael Jordan woman, that's what I mean, a
- 27:24Michael Jordan LeBron James woman type who totally dominates
- 27:29the WNBA, maybe can they get a roster?
- 27:33You know, you debate that, but I don't mean to debate it on this
- 27:36show. But it's funny, the way Mack
- 27:39dismissed it, you know, like just blew us away.
- 27:44Like, never. Oh, you're out of your mind,
- 27:46Jack, you know. We were being politically
- 27:49correct and Jeff Code and myself and Mack was telling it like it
- 27:54was basically, you know, and I kind of have some memories in
- 27:58that. Yeah, Miss Linda comes back and
- 28:00says she thinks it's equal, that you guys both got on each
- 28:03other's nerves. She came back and said that, and
- 28:05Beastrilla said to tell you thank you.
- 28:07He said you're far too kind for the compliments.
- 28:11Well, you guys did a phenomenal job in the tribute.
- 28:14I when you first I saw your e-mail about the tribute, I
- 28:20wasn't crazy about the way it was going to be held.
- 28:22And then later when I saw the way you 2 did it, I I I was a
- 28:26little internally embarrassed that I would be annoyed at the
- 28:31setup. The setup was so great, so
- 28:34perfect, so wonderful. You could get CBSNBCABC.
- 28:39They would have had those producers would have had nothing
- 28:42on the way you and Priscilla, you know, into production.
- 28:46Yeah. That means a lot, Jack.
- 28:48Oh my gosh. Because I know.
- 28:50You. Yeah.
- 28:52You going to give me? Let's talk about the.
- 28:55Let's talk about the East. Thank you, Jack.
- 28:57So the second round action continued on Monday with game
- 29:01one matchups. Boston Celtics versus the New
- 29:04York Knicks are going to be held today.
- 29:06Of course, we talk about the OKC game.
- 29:08What are your thoughts on the Celtics and the Knicks?
- 29:11I think the Knicks are going to give them a series.
- 29:14I don't understand. I hear everyone saying, well, if
- 29:17the Knicks win one game, it's good.
- 29:20I think I had Brian win her her say the Knicks win one game,
- 29:24it's good. If they win two games, they
- 29:27should have a celebration. I think they are going to win a
- 29:30couple of games. Come on then.
- 29:32No moral victories. Yeah, I'm going to be honest
- 29:35about it. If the Knicks lose a tough seven
- 29:38game series and they take the Celtics down to the wire, it's
- 29:42going to be a disappointment. At some point, the Knicks have
- 29:48to take the next step and take a run at winning the NBA
- 29:52championship. It can't be this way.
- 29:54Year after year, you get in the playoffs, you win one series,
- 29:58you lose the next one. I know it's to the Celtics and I
- 30:02know the Knicks fan base isn't going to be that upset.
- 30:07If the Knicks, you know, losing 5-6 games, they're going to say,
- 30:11well, the Celtics are just better.
- 30:13But at what point are the Knicks going to become a serious
- 30:16championship contenders if they're not doing it now?
- 30:20They made the big deal. They got Karl Anthony Towns,
- 30:24They got McHale Bridges this year, they put themselves in
- 30:28position to take a serious run at the Celtics.
- 30:32The Celtics have had their number winning all three games
- 30:35during the regular season. But now's the time that up the
- 30:40Celtics can actually be had. They're not invincible.
- 30:44I mean, I mean, the Celtics have coasted a good part of the year.
- 30:48You know, it's the number two seed.
- 30:50They had a solid year. But I don't want to hear about
- 30:54moral victories with the Knicks. I don't think they're going to
- 30:56win. I think they'll lose in sixth
- 30:58games. I think I actually think going
- 31:02back to Boston after four games, it's going to be two games
- 31:05apiece. I think the Knicks are going to
- 31:07grab one of these first two games in Boston.
- 31:10I think they'll split in the Garden and then Boston will win
- 31:13games. 5:00 and 6:00 if you want a prediction of trend, how the
- 31:17series is going to go. But I'm tired of these moral
- 31:20victories. Moral victories Sonia Only good
- 31:23when the team comes out of nowhere.
- 31:25Yeah, literally they. Exceed expectations.
- 31:29I I can understand that, but it's so hard in sports to get
- 31:35back to where you were before. Look, the Washington Commanders
- 31:38exceeded everyone's expectations in the NFL.
- 31:41They went to the NFC Championship, getting lost to
- 31:44the Eagles. But after the game, I, I would
- 31:47be upset if I would command a fan.
- 31:49I would be proud of the year they had.
- 31:51But it's so close. It's so hard.
- 31:54I mean, to get back to the point that you were at sometimes
- 31:59everyone has the attitude. Oh, well, we'll get it done next
- 32:02year. We got here this year.
- 32:04We'll take an extra step next year.
- 32:06It doesn't work that way. It's hard to get back to where
- 32:10you were. You have to start all over.
- 32:14No one's handing you anything at all.
- 32:17You know, like, I sometimes think about the Olympics and you
- 32:21hear one competitor who's favored to win the event, oh,
- 32:25they lost the gold medal. They didn't lose the gold medal.
- 32:28They never had the dog gold medal in the medal.
- 32:32They have to earn that. It's so hard to get back to a
- 32:36certain spot sometimes. And for the Knicks, if they get
- 32:40eliminated by Boston, it's a do over again.
- 32:44What makes you think it's going to be much different next year?
- 32:48Unless the Knicks could somehow work out a deal where they get
- 32:53Giannis, change the whole face of the team and they'd have to
- 32:57give up a lot. Be honest, I'm not sure exactly
- 33:00who they wouldn't. You know, I could speculate, say
- 33:04Bridges would be part of the deal with Karl Anthony Towns, be
- 33:08part of the deal or whatever. You're giving up chips to get a
- 33:13big chip. But if the Knicks come back with
- 33:16the same team next year, which they probably will, they can't
- 33:20get it done now. What makes you think they're
- 33:22going to get it done next year? Yeah, it's so hard to get back.
- 33:27I mean, just in anything. And because you have to account
- 33:30for so many factors other than just having the same players,
- 33:33you have to account for opposing teams, you have to account for
- 33:36possible injuries, even climate change.
- 33:39Anything that goes on, just life lifing can actually throw your
- 33:44trajectory. Like you may mentally say, OK,
- 33:46we'll be back. It's it's very difficult to do
- 33:49that in anything in life, not just sports.
- 33:51Let's talk about the. You made a remark I might not
- 33:56let you live it down for a climate change and I understand
- 34:00high altitude. So I mean, yeah, like, like
- 34:03weather, like the weather. It could be a bad storm and you
- 34:06may have to move your game to somewhere else to play it like,
- 34:09you know, Yeah, I mean. Yeah, I know.
- 34:13I hear what you think. That's a lot of different
- 34:15factors, especially first and foremost when you mentioned the
- 34:19injury factor when when you can people forget that a few years
- 34:25ago when the Milwaukee Bucks won the NBA title, the Nets could
- 34:29have very easily won at Kevin Durant's 3 point shot as
- 34:33footballs on the line. Nets win that.
- 34:36They could have gone on like Milwaukee did and won the NBA
- 34:39championship and a whole narrative of the Nets and Kevin
- 34:44Durant would have been so much different that he delivered the
- 34:48Brooklyn Nets and NBA championship.
- 34:52OK, so I can finish now. Yeah, yeah.
- 34:55You can never finish with me. I know it's OK.
- 34:58See, I've learned that. Mac is putting up to this, you
- 35:02know. Yes, yes, yes.
- 35:03So. With a smile on your face.
- 35:06Mac didn't smile at me the same way.
- 35:08Sometimes I don't Jack. Yes.
- 35:13So let's talk about the Pacers game.
- 35:15They grabbed a nine point win Sunday night to take home corn
- 35:17advantage from the top team in the Eastern Conference.
- 35:22Tyra 3 Halliburton, of course, hang on late in the in the last
- 35:26part of the game to knock off the Cavaliers in the first match
- 35:30up. What are your thoughts on that?
- 35:32Because the Pacers nearly blew a double digit halftime lead at
- 35:37Rocket Arena on Sunday and they ended up winning A1, 21112 win
- 35:44over the Cleveland Cavaliers then, and that gave them the
- 35:47edge to basically take that one O lead in the Eastern Conference
- 35:51semifinal. Yeah, I mean, like I said, the
- 35:54Pacers could get off to The Big Lead, and they're holding the
- 35:57lead all game. And then Cleveland finally kind
- 36:01of catches up, you know, late in the game and in the second-half.
- 36:05And then predictably, they did. But, you know, the Pacers held
- 36:11firm. And Jared Allen, I was a little
- 36:14disappointed. He's normally extremely
- 36:17reliable. One of my favorite players just
- 36:20wasn't grabbing rebounds and at the end of the game, I mean,
- 36:24Pacers would seem to get so many offensive rebounds there.
- 36:28And it was just the disappointing outing, You know,
- 36:31for the Cavaliers. It happens one game and I want
- 36:35to hear stuff. Well, homecourt advantage, the
- 36:37Pacers won the game up 1, nothing.
- 36:40But with that said, Game 2 is super crucial for Cleveland
- 36:44because you fall down to nothing to play the next two games in,
- 36:49you know, Indianapolis. And even though the Cavaliers
- 36:52are capable of winning two games, their chances are that
- 36:56they don't. And they write them maybe going
- 36:58back to Cleveland, down three games to 1, you know, and that's
- 37:02very precarious if it happened. But I expect the Cavaliers to
- 37:07restore in Game 2, you know, win that and they're the better
- 37:11team. The Cavaliers are the better
- 37:13team and they should ultimately prevail.
- 37:16I think for the most part they just had North game and and
- 37:21they're gonna correct that. Yeah, this is the first time
- 37:24Cleveland has been upset like that in a postgame matchup here
- 37:29in this series. But I do want to give kudos to
- 37:31one of the Cleveland Cavalier players.
- 37:33That would be Donovan Mitchell, who actually put up his eighth
- 37:37straight series opener of 30 plus points, which broke the
- 37:40record of the great Michael Jordan 7 game.
- 37:43Mark. Jordan has scored 30 plus points
- 37:46in a series opener and two different 7 game streaks while
- 37:50the leading the Chicago Bulls to 6 championships between 1991 and
- 37:541998. Mitchell finished the night with
- 37:5733 points but Indiana of course won the series so
- 38:01congratulations to Donovan Mitchell.
- 38:03Did you know that Jack I? Didn't know that exacts that,
- 38:06but I'm going to tell you what the Cavaliers, this is more
- 38:09important that they win this series than the Pacers winning
- 38:12it. One thing, if the Cavaliers
- 38:15advance for the Eastern Finals and they lose a tough six or
- 38:20seven game series for the Boston Celtics, it's understood because
- 38:24they're playing a team as good as they are, not a little
- 38:27better. A team with a major pedigree, I
- 38:30should say, in the Celtics. But to lose to the Indiana
- 38:34Pacers and come on. And I know the Pacers got to the
- 38:38conference finals last year, but for the most part, they're
- 38:43they're no more than just a good team.
- 38:45There's nothing really exceptional about them.
- 38:48You know, they're well coached, play well together, but the
- 38:51Cavaliers absolutely have to beat this type of team.
- 38:55And after that 64 win season the Cavaliers had, you mean to tell
- 39:00me they're going to lose the best four out of seven series to
- 39:04the Indiana Pacers? I mean, that would be one of the
- 39:08big disappointments of the year when that would be a bigger
- 39:11disappointment for Cavalier Nation than it would for the
- 39:15Lakers losing to the Timberwolves.
- 39:17Well, The thing is Jack, they have their All Star point guard
- 39:21Darius Garland, who's missed three games now he's going to he
- 39:25set out last night's game as well, game one in the Eastern
- 39:28Conference. He's missed 3 consecutive
- 39:30playoff games because he has a spring left big toe.
- 39:35I mean, people don't realize that the importance of those big
- 39:38toes, they literally balance everything.
- 39:40He was also idle in games three and four, the first round when
- 39:43the Cavs swept the Heat. I mean, how big of a factor is
- 39:46he going to be in this matchup? Well, everything's a big BAFTA,
- 39:51but it's just readjusting. I mean, the cat, like I said a
- 39:56little while ago, the Cavaliers problem was, you know, on the
- 39:59boards. I mean, they just didn't rebound
- 40:02the way they normally did yesterday.
- 40:04What's frustrating at the end of the game?
- 40:07When you saw the door maybe opening for Cleveland to maybe
- 40:11come back and they play good defense on the Pacers, Pacers
- 40:16would miss a shot, but the Pacers would get their own
- 40:18offensive rebound. It was so, so frustrating there,
- 40:22you know, for the Cavaliers and you know, it's important, but I
- 40:28expect Jared Allen to step up. Mobley, I think at 10 rebounds
- 40:32yesterday, he's going to be consistent.
- 40:35And Donovan Mitchell, you know, they can't afford him to take a
- 40:39little step back, have a so, so game now and then.
- 40:43Donovan Mitchell, you know, you're waiting for him to
- 40:47establish himself as one of the superstars in the league.
- 40:51When we talk about the superstars of the league, his
- 40:55name never comes up. Like if we took a poll of 10
- 40:59basketball experts and have them all write down who are the top
- 41:04five players in the NBA, certain of the names would be the same.
- 41:10Like Joke, if she'd be on everyone's list, you know, of
- 41:13course, but some of the names would be on there, like Anthony
- 41:16Edwards top five. Maybe some people wouldn't have
- 41:21Anthony Edwards top five, but I wonder when anyone at all have,
- 41:25you know, Donovan Mitchell in their top five.
- 41:28Something about Donovan Mitchell.
- 41:30When we talk about the great players, you know we talk about
- 41:33Giannis now, Anthony Edwards, Steph Curry.
- 41:37No one quite mentions Donovan Mitchell, even though he's very
- 41:41well known. Right, I mean he was mentioned
- 41:44for a while, but you know, it's ebbs and flows, Jack.
- 41:47Sometimes players names are up here, sometimes they're down
- 41:51here, sometimes they're in between.
- 41:53I just think it's one of those kind of in between weird spots
- 41:56that you know he's there, but is he as relevant?
- 41:59You know, with all the surrounding talent that's that's
- 42:02around him? Basically, as we we have about
- 42:0513 minutes left. Let's switch topics tonight.
- 42:08You could be doing your boxing show glove fits with Frank
- 42:11Lortierzo. I'm great show everybody make
- 42:13you check it out at 7:00 PM Eastern Standard Time right
- 42:16here. Same station.
- 42:18Canelo Alvarez is remaining undisputed after defeating
- 42:21William Skulljack. Yeah, yeah.
- 42:25That was a big weekend in boxing, actually.
- 42:27I'll review the whole thing now. It started Friday night.
- 42:31They had a show at Times Square. Yeah, it was exciting that Time
- 42:37Square had an activity, but the promotion was a bit of a fiasco,
- 42:42you know, All in all. But Ryan Garcia got upset by
- 42:46Riley Romero. That was a bit of a shock.
- 42:49Romero is kind of like he's an ordinary fighter and he's a good
- 42:53fighter, but there's nothing special about Riley Romero yet.
- 42:58He beat Ryan Garcia. Garcia has been coming off the
- 43:01one year suspension for PD used it, just didn't have it.
- 43:07He got knocked out in the second round and there was never any
- 43:11urgency. He never stepped up and you
- 43:15know, threw the type of punches laid in the fight that could
- 43:17turn the fight around and he was out appointed in his fight.
- 43:21Devin Haney had his first fight in one year Devin Haney won a
- 43:26decision over Jose Luis Ramirez. Haney fought like he was scared
- 43:29the whole fight, you know, but he did what he had to do to win.
- 43:34He didn't create any excitement in the slightest here.
- 43:37Female Lopez look really, really good.
- 43:41He was the one fighter who looked really, really good on
- 43:44the show by beating Arnold Barbosa.
- 43:46Barbosa was an unbeaten fighter. It went the distance in large
- 43:50part because Barbosa is a good fighter.
- 43:52He didn't take the extra chances even though Bob blows and move
- 43:56forward. And I can't blame him.
- 43:58Once you feel Tia female's power, but Tia female box really
- 44:03well. Then Saturday, OK.
- 44:05I mean, the big fight there, like you say, was Canelo Alvarez
- 44:09and Canelo Alvarez fought this unbeaten Cuban, Williams, Skull.
- 44:14Alvarez won a decision. I thought he won comfortably.
- 44:18One of the judges had it close. One of the judges had it laps
- 44:22died and I had something in between.
- 44:24Alvarez, you know, couldn't come off the ring.
- 44:27Williams, Scott ran around the ring literally the whole fight.
- 44:32And I had Alvarez winning 9 rounds to three.
- 44:35But there was it was boring. It was boring.
- 44:38And I think Nello, I think Canelo has gotten to the point
- 44:43and I felt this way 3-4 years ago that he was a fighter was
- 44:48declining, but because he's so dedicated, he held that off to
- 44:53an extent, you know, up to the naked eye how much he was
- 44:57declining. But he's been in with mediocre
- 45:01opponents who at times could make him look good and mask the
- 45:06deficiencies he has. And now and it's going to be on
- 45:10deterrence. Crawford September 12th in the
- 45:13Las Vegas Raiders stadium, right?
- 45:19I would venture to guess the Raiders don't have a game the
- 45:24next day because you're going to have to turn it from a, you
- 45:28know, you can get rid of quickly into the football field.
- 45:32That would be my guess. And it's running over really
- 45:36quickly though, Jack. I mean, I've seen them have
- 45:38events here in Atlanta where they have a concert or something
- 45:43like that. And then the next day there's a
- 45:45Falcon game. And it's, it's amazing how they
- 45:47get to work. They literally work from the
- 45:49time like it's, it's really quick.
- 45:51And it's amazing to see how quick they turn it back over.
- 45:54Yeah, OK, that, that is amazing. And kudos to the workers.
- 45:59We're able to get something like that done.
- 46:02But you know, the commentator, Claudia Tree host, you know, I
- 46:06have to drop a line. I don't know what, but she's a
- 46:08Facebook friend of mine. Yeah, I, I understand she's not
- 46:13a boxing expert. I, I, I do understand that.
- 46:16And I, I give people slack. I, I really do.
- 46:20Unless they're asking something that's downright ridiculous,
- 46:24they've got to get called out and it.
- 46:26She's interviewing Crawford, she says.
- 46:29Do you think this is the biggest fight in boxing history?
- 46:33I think she's ridiculous, Crawford and Canelo.
- 46:37Really big to say that it's. Absurd.
- 46:39It's absurd. It's like it's like someone's
- 46:44having to before the Super Bowl, before the Eagles play, the
- 46:47Chiefs saying, do you think this is the biggest event in sports
- 46:51history today? Even Crawford through his
- 46:57credits, that I wouldn't say that.
- 46:59I'll say it's the biggest fight in the last 12 years.
- 47:03Now that's highly debatable. It's highly debatable, but at
- 47:07least it's arguable. You know, there's a difference
- 47:10between certain things being arguable and that.
- 47:13And for Hunt to even suggest that that was remotely in the
- 47:19same league as the first Ali Frazier fighting some others as
- 47:23well is crazy. It's crazy.
- 47:28And I felt like dropping a line, but I don't really know a thing.
- 47:31Please don't embarrass yourself. You know what I mean?
- 47:36She embarrassed herself. I mean, she show you don't want
- 47:40some. Listen, I fake it at times and
- 47:44things. I don't know, you could start
- 47:45talking to me about golf and I'm going to I I don't know much
- 47:49about golf. I'm not the biggest fan but I
- 47:51could they get to a degree. Right, you can stay relevant in
- 47:55the conversation. Right, I'm not going to get, you
- 47:57know, pick some golfer who won the latest tournament, you know,
- 48:03and say, do you think he's the greatest golfer in the history
- 48:07of the sport? You know, just throw it out, but
- 48:10whatever, but whatever. But Canelo and Crawford,
- 48:13September 12th in Las Vegas. To me, it's a fight that the the
- 48:19expiration date, if it hasn't passed, it's still it's still
- 48:25edible, but past the expiration date.
- 48:28That's what I compared to. You look at the label and it
- 48:32said use by and it passed that date.
- 48:36Crawford is 37 years old. He's not the fighter he was.
- 48:42He's still very, very good. Don't get me wrong, he's still
- 48:45very good, but he's not the fighter he was.
- 48:49He he's been inactive. He his last fight against Israel
- 48:54Magramov, he looks ordinary in that fight.
- 48:57Canelo has been declining. They're not the fight as they
- 49:01were. But let me tell you Sonia, in
- 49:05boxing, it's about the brand. That's what attracts people.
- 49:10You don't have to be exciting, but they'll TuneIn to see.
- 49:14Look, Floyd Mayweather created a brand.
- 49:17Mayweather was a boring fight on balance.
- 49:20He was a boring fighter. He would turn in some less than
- 49:27exciting performances. Maybe exciting isn't the word.
- 49:30Less than sterling performances later.
- 49:33Yeah, he wasn't looking that good yet.
- 49:37People would hear Mayweather. They'll see him again.
- 49:39You know, Mayweather, for Manny Pacquiao, The fight was five
- 49:43years too late. They were still good fighters.
- 49:46They just weren't great, great fighters, like all time great
- 49:50fighters. If you felt they were that, they
- 49:53were kind of past that, but they were still good.
- 49:57Mayweather beats Pacquiao by a decision.
- 49:59The fight comes on at 1:00 in the morning Eastern Time.
- 50:02Imagine that one in the morning. Eastern Time, No?
- 50:05No type of promotion for folks really at all.
- 50:10But it was like the Super Bowl of boxing because a lot of
- 50:13people would tell me who weren't boxing fans, they would have
- 50:16parties over people's homes, get the fight, Mayweather, Pacquiao.
- 50:21And then and then they were complaining what a boring fight
- 50:24it was, what a boring fight it was.
- 50:28But guess what? If they had a rematch, those
- 50:30same people would be back and spend the pay-per-view for the
- 50:33rematch. I got to tell you what I did
- 50:34quickly. I know I'm cutting in.
- 50:36Well, yeah, because I'm going to talk to you about Canelo as
- 50:39well. I want to get Mayweather,
- 50:41Pacquiao. What I did, I never got the
- 50:42pay-per-view fight. I listen to this.
- 50:46I thought it was a ripple. They were charging 9999 a 100
- 50:50bucks one year before Pacquiao fought Mayweather.
- 50:54This is a a true story. I had presented Mayweather the
- 51:00fighter of the year award. I presented him the award and
- 51:03last eight at the at The MGM hotel.
- 51:07Now one year later fighting Pacquiao and I'm watching the
- 51:11fight in the basement of my home.
- 51:14I refused, wasn't going to go to Las Vegas because the media
- 51:18crush was such. I'd be, maybe we put in the
- 51:22boondocks, you know, one of the last rows in Texas here and, or
- 51:27maybe even in the conference room, who knows.
- 51:30So I took $99 Sonya and went to a flea market and I, I, I bought
- 51:36items for $99.00 and I wrote a story how the money could be
- 51:40better spent. I won an award for the story.
- 51:45I I totally believe that. So people that don't know Jack
- 51:49is a former writer of the boss of one of the boxing, the
- 51:53boxing. Yeah.
- 51:59So so thanks Jack. So I was going to you talking
- 52:02about how, you know, he's been lackluster on the decline.
- 52:05I mean, Canelo, Haney and Garcia basically have a milking boxing
- 52:09fan drive. He went to Saudi Arabia, Canelo
- 52:13did, and basically people weren't even cheering.
- 52:17People were just sitting there scrolling their phones, no
- 52:20chanting, not even a big crowd at all.
- 52:24Just bunch of VIP oil people, you know, people that got oil on
- 52:28business, billionaires, nobody saying anything when if he was
- 52:33in his prime and in his heyday, as my grandmother used to say,
- 52:37he should have been in Vegas or in Mexico.
- 52:39So we're packing out a a audience and slamming people's
- 52:42heads. I mean, Jack you, you hit the,
- 52:45the hit the head on the with the nail.
- 52:47Like you hit the nail on the head because, you know, he was
- 52:50in Times Square. People were basically trying to
- 52:54keep themselves awake watching Devin Haney shadow box.
- 52:57He shadow box for 12 rounds. Garcia, basically the the selfie
- 53:03king floated around and throwing arm punches like he was trying
- 53:06to break a nail, trying not to break his fingernail rather.
- 53:10And then his dad on the sidelines, Devin Haney's dad,
- 53:14was there basically acting like his son was doing way more than
- 53:18what he was just reacting to every little thing.
- 53:22No, Devin Haney's dad, Bill Haney, his conduct is sometimes
- 53:27very, extremely embarrassing. Let's you know, leave the you
- 53:31know, he's not the only dad you know, we see a patent in sports.
- 53:36Sonia. This is a topic for another
- 53:38time. Dads who on embarrassment to
- 53:42their son, I mean, these dads couldn't make it themselves as
- 53:47athletes. So don't get me wrong, they've
- 53:50been an asset to their son a lot of times by helping them, you
- 53:54know, as fathers. But Bill Haney, if you ever
- 53:58heard him talk, he's vulgar, you know, very embarrassing.
- 54:02I mean, Ryan Bushey is that sometimes it's the same way, the
- 54:06way he acts and but sometimes it's image to Tia FEMA.
- 54:12Lopez's father came off that way as really someone you couldn't
- 54:17stand, couldn't like. In addition to Tia FEMA Lopez
- 54:21junior, let me tell you behind the scenes, they're sweethearts.
- 54:25They're two of my favorite people, Tia FEMA junior and
- 54:28senior. They're such good, good guys,
- 54:31you know, behind the scenes. So but but you're right, you're
- 54:35you're right. You you pointed out good
- 54:37atmosphere in Saudi Arabia. Why was he fighting there?
- 54:42You know, the stories are putting up the money.
- 54:44They wanted it in their host country.
- 54:46Why not? You know, the sorties got so
- 54:48much money to burn. So yeah, it's not like a normal.
- 54:53One of them I just need some of the money.
- 54:56They're willing to lose a few million on the show, it seems.
- 54:59OK, we lose it, we'll make it back.
- 55:01We they weren't. Even paying attention, they were
- 55:03just sitting there like it looked, I don't even know how to
- 55:06describe it. It was, it was very unsettling.
- 55:09And you're talking about, you know, look at Tyrese real quick.
- 55:12You talk about bad dads, or lack of.
- 55:14The dads, no, the well, dads weren't embarrassing to their
- 55:21sons. Yeah.
- 55:22OK. And sometimes these sons have to
- 55:26keep them under control. I mean, you know, and if it's a
- 55:31good dad, he'll back off. I mean, look at the dads.
- 55:36What was it, the ball brothers in the NBA?
- 55:39The father tried to bring attention to himself the whole
- 55:42time, you know, and that there'd be a couple of others and it's
- 55:47not about them. They should be in the
- 55:48background, but it's what is. But back to atmosphere, people
- 55:55don't realize when Busted Douglas upset Mike Tyson, the
- 55:59fight was in Tokyo. It was held in the morning in
- 56:02Tokyo and it was like the crowd didn't go crazy when Douglas,
- 56:07not Tyson. Now there's like they were in,
- 56:10you know, doing their morning thing, having their morning
- 56:13coffee, watching the fight, right, have that dramatic
- 56:18effect. Yeah, I mean, not the dramatic
- 56:22effect at all, but like you said, when people have money to
- 56:25just throw things away, throw money away.
- 56:29I mean, weak as Americans and we as some of us, the way we live
- 56:33frugally, Jack, I'm sure you can definitely respect that.
- 56:37We are not going to pay money to go somewhere and sit and just be
- 56:40on our phones literally and just scroll like there was.
- 56:44They weren't even looking at what was going on around them.
- 56:48Yeah, I mean, but but the purpose of the promotion with
- 56:51the stories, they're they're kind of looking at the big
- 56:54picture. I think they want to take over
- 56:56boxing completely and then they'll make their money back.
- 56:59They got Dana White now involved, supposedly he's going
- 57:03to start a boxing league and eventually the fighters are not
- 57:08going to get paid nearly the amount they are now unless the
- 57:12other independent promoters stay in the business, provide
- 57:15competition and we'll see how it unfolds.
- 57:19But for the time being, there's a lot, a lot of, you know, good
- 57:23fights being made by the Saudis. So I want to give, you know, His
- 57:27Excellency, the guy in charge a lot, a lot of credit for
- 57:31providing past fights. Yeah, and hello, Scott.
- 57:34He said sorry he hadn't been around.
- 57:35Condolences to the whole network, of course, to miss
- 57:37Linda. Thoughts and prayers.
- 57:39Hey, Scott, thank you so much for joining.
- 57:41Morning, Jonathan. Stan, good morning as well.
- 57:44Uh, yeah. So listen, Jack just gave you
- 57:46guys a great preview of what's to come tonight at 7:00 PM on
- 57:51GLOVE. Fits him and frankly, Lord
- 57:53Tierzo. Great show.
- 57:55We can't wait to have you on. We have shows throughout the
- 57:58rest of this morning, Jack, always a great time with you.
- 58:01I'm of course Mac. We did this one for you and we
- 58:04will beat you guys. A good day.
