- 1:06Speaker 4: unfortunately Hollis is unable to make it today.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Yes, and.
- 1:12Speaker 2: We've got some interesting, interesting topics.
- 1:15Speaker 5: And it's an interesting day, is well.
- 1:20Speaker 2: Yes, the world of sports. Yes, yes, it really has
- 1:24Speaker 2: that way. And let's let's talk.
- 1:28Speaker 4: We'll open up with the with the whole gambling thing, okay,
- 1:31Speaker 4: and the bout drop to that to me.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Let's do this. Let's say this, this is even better
- 1:37Speaker 5: before you get into it. Let's play the clip. That's
- 1:41Speaker 5: the director who did the whole thing. So go ahead, Okay.
- 1:45Speaker 6: Today we're here in New York to announce historic arrests
- 1:48Speaker 6: across a wide, sweeping criminal enterprise that envelops both the
- 1:52Speaker 6: NBA and La Cosa Nostra. Individuals such as Chauncey Billups,
- 1:57Speaker 6: Damon Jones, and Terry Rozier were taking into today former
- 2:01Speaker 6: current NBA players and coaches. This is an illegal gambling
- 2:04Speaker 6: operation and sports rigging operation that spanned.
- 2:07Speaker 5: The course of years.
- 2:08Speaker 6: The FBI led a coordinative takedown across eleven states to
- 2:12Speaker 6: arrest over thirty individuals today responsible for this case, which
- 2:16Speaker 6: is very much ongoing. We also entered and executed a
- 2:21Speaker 6: system of justice against La Casinosha to include the Bonano, Gambino,
- 2:26Speaker 6: Genevesi and Luchas crime families. The chargers and the arrests
- 2:30Speaker 6: that were taken down across this country range from wire fraud,
- 2:32Speaker 6: money laundering, extortion, robbery, illegal gambling. We're talking about tens
- 2:36Speaker 6: of millions of dollars in.
- 2:38Speaker 2: Fraud and theft and robbery.
- 2:41Speaker 6: Across a multi year investigation, they perpetrated a fraud that
- 2:46Speaker 6: is historic in terms of not just money, but the
- 2:49Speaker 6: scheme and the deceit that they utilize to steal and
- 2:53Speaker 6: swindle people for money.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Wow. I mean, I don't know about about you guys,
- 3:01Speaker 5: but I felt like I was like in the middle
- 3:03Speaker 5: of of a Godfather movie or maybe when they started
- 3:06Speaker 5: naming all these crime families that were involved, I was like,
- 3:08Speaker 5: this is like Good Fellows flashbacks. I mean, come on, Carl,
- 3:13Speaker 5: and it's crazy.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Well, let me And what I can't really what I
- 3:19Speaker 4: can't really fathom is what how did you get connected
- 3:25Speaker 4: to that? You know, like, if I'm a player, like,
- 3:27Speaker 4: how am I getting connected? Somebody's coming to me and
- 3:29Speaker 4: asking me, are you willing to do this? Okay, but
- 3:33Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna kind of speak negative
- 3:38Speaker 4: too from the NFL standpoint, okay, and really from all
- 3:43Speaker 4: sports who promote gambling that their commercials are gambling and
- 3:49Speaker 4: you're gonna and you're gonna tell.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Players you can't gamble.
- 3:52Speaker 4: Okay, And now Back in the day, I didn't have
- 3:56Speaker 4: enough money that I was gonna gamble.
- 3:58Speaker 2: It wasn't worded. I woke. I couldn't afford to lose.
- 4:00Speaker 4: Today these guys got billions of dollars to where they
- 4:05Speaker 4: can they can do this, you know, And and.
- 4:09Speaker 5: That invites a question for me. If you have that
- 4:11Speaker 5: much money, why would you risk all of that, even
- 4:15Speaker 5: you know, the thoughts of possibly going to prison for
- 4:19Speaker 5: who knows how long. You don't mess with peoples. You
- 4:22Speaker 5: don't mess with the FBI and their money, and the
- 4:24Speaker 5: irs and their money. I don't understand what possesses you
- 4:30Speaker 5: to even risk for the little bit that they would
- 4:33Speaker 5: make in these schemes, I would think.
- 4:36Speaker 2: And and to your point of.
- 4:39Speaker 4: The amount being little, even if they were to to
- 4:45Speaker 4: let's say one night, one week, they might make let's
- 4:50Speaker 4: say one hundred thousand dollars, right you know now.
- 4:55Speaker 2: That that has me in line maybe like how do
- 4:58Speaker 2: I get in that line?
- 4:59Speaker 4: But on the other side of it, these dudes should
- 5:04Speaker 4: and have made millions of dollars, So why would you
- 5:09Speaker 4: risk your freedom and your reputation.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Your reputation exactly, your legacy.
- 5:15Speaker 2: You're your whole legacy. I mean it makes no sense
- 5:20Speaker 2: to me.
- 5:21Speaker 4: No, no, But I asked this question with no one
- 5:26Speaker 4: in I don't think we're going to be able to
- 5:28Speaker 4: really answer it, but we can maybe comment about what
- 5:32Speaker 4: the possibility is. Where do you meet that guy? Like,
- 5:35Speaker 4: where do you meet that that particular guy. Where's he at?
- 5:38Speaker 4: He's not at He's not at the practice facility.
- 5:42Speaker 5: Well now you just said this though, Carl. You said,
- 5:47Speaker 5: now that you've got all of sports in bed with
- 5:51Speaker 5: with gambling platforms, Well, you know that that just comes
- 5:55Speaker 5: with it, That comes with the territory. These people are
- 5:57Speaker 5: going to be more available. They're there to to put
- 6:00Speaker 5: their their platforms, and along with the ones that are
- 6:04Speaker 5: you know, I don't know how you can say clean gambling,
- 6:06Speaker 5: but clean betting, you've also got the shady guys that
- 6:09Speaker 5: come along with it.
- 6:10Speaker 7: I think some of it has to do with the
- 6:13Speaker 7: way that the spectator experience has been upgraded over the years.
- 6:19Speaker 7: This was a topic we had on Metronie's Hotline with
- 6:21Speaker 7: Dave Weekly last week. I was talking about the Cleveland Cavaliers.
- 6:24Speaker 7: They're going to come up with this club that is
- 6:27Speaker 7: only open to one hundred people, and it's something like
- 6:30Speaker 7: fifty or sixty thousand dollars to be a part of it.
- 6:33Speaker 7: But you're going to get all these benefits to go
- 6:36Speaker 7: and see the game and be in the suites and
- 6:39Speaker 7: stuff and do all that stuff. And I guarantee part
- 6:41Speaker 7: of that is going to be meeting the players at
- 6:43Speaker 7: some point. Sure, if you've got the money to afford
- 6:46Speaker 7: that in.
- 6:47Speaker 5: The first place, there's your connection.
- 6:48Speaker 7: They're going to be in there, and then you're going
- 6:50Speaker 7: to meet those players and you know where it counts out.
- 6:53Speaker 7: It's just a little conversation turns into a hey, we
- 6:56Speaker 7: all got a money proposition for you, exactly.
- 6:59Speaker 4: And when you're a retired player and you hear something
- 7:02Speaker 4: like that, you're you're you're.
- 7:06Speaker 2: Going to be interested. Sure, you know, like even like.
- 7:10Speaker 4: To me getting connected to the gentleman his name is
- 7:13Speaker 4: Buddy Becker, who is a guy who we do autograph
- 7:17Speaker 4: stuff with. And we'll talk maybe a little bit more
- 7:19Speaker 4: about that later. But if he were to come to
- 7:22Speaker 4: me and say, hey, would you be interested in you know,
- 7:27Speaker 4: giving me your view of what you think the scores
- 7:31Speaker 4: could be to this game that game, and I'm going
- 7:35Speaker 4: to I'm gonna I'm gonna go out there and and
- 7:39Speaker 4: and place a bet. So let's say I do that
- 7:43Speaker 4: and he comes back and he says, hey, man, we won.
- 7:46Speaker 4: You know, we might want to just do this again.
- 7:50Speaker 4: So now all of a sudden, I'm I'm the guy
- 7:53Speaker 4: he's coming to, sure, you know, to talk to about
- 7:57Speaker 4: what the potential scores and differences would be and how
- 8:01Speaker 4: he should be betting. When how long is that going
- 8:03Speaker 4: to take for me to be betting on my own?
- 8:05Speaker 8: Yeah?
- 8:06Speaker 5: See, you know what I'm saying.
- 8:08Speaker 4: At some point, I bet I'm like thinking I got
- 8:09Speaker 4: to be able to do this on my own.
- 8:11Speaker 5: Yeah. And just like Matt said that, they're finding ways,
- 8:14Speaker 5: creative ways to get to these players and and and
- 8:17Speaker 5: a lot of times innocently, when you create these clubs
- 8:20Speaker 5: and things to to you know, to let fans get
- 8:22Speaker 5: a you know, better, you know experience at a game,
- 8:26Speaker 5: then then the bad can can slip through the through
- 8:29Speaker 5: the cracks and get in there to those players. And
- 8:31Speaker 5: so so I wanted to talk a little bit before we,
- 8:34Speaker 5: you know, get any further about the type of problems
- 8:38Speaker 5: or the type of things that they were doing that
- 8:42Speaker 5: got them in this position. Of course, that the three
- 8:45Speaker 5: main people that they focused on today were Miami Heat,
- 8:49Speaker 5: guard Terry Rozier, and he was taken into custody in Orlando.
- 8:53Speaker 5: He was accused of telling members of a betting ring
- 8:56Speaker 5: that he would leave a game early and allow them
- 9:00Speaker 5: to wager on his prop bets with the knowledge he
- 9:03Speaker 5: would not rack up stats. Now, for me, I had
- 9:05Speaker 5: to look up prop bets because I am.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Not a season don't.
- 9:09Speaker 5: I don't know gambling knees, right, So basically a prop
- 9:12Speaker 5: bet carl is is short for proposition bets, And what
- 9:16Speaker 5: it means is it's not so much win loss, like
- 9:18Speaker 5: you bet on a team to win or you bet
- 9:20Speaker 5: on a team to lose. It's more like betting on
- 9:22Speaker 5: like what he did. Like you might say, this quarterback
- 9:26Speaker 5: is gonna have this much yardage in this game. You
- 9:28Speaker 5: can bet on that, right, you can bet on who's gonna,
- 9:31Speaker 5: you know, throw the first touchdown. You know who's gonna
- 9:35Speaker 5: are they gonna go into overtime. It's more the circumstances
- 9:40Speaker 5: of the game rather than the victory or the loss.
- 9:42Speaker 5: So for these players to do things like let these
- 9:47Speaker 5: gambling rings know, hey, I'm leaving, think about the money
- 9:51Speaker 5: that they can generate, you know, with these people making
- 9:54Speaker 5: prop bets about oh, his stats are going to be
- 9:56Speaker 5: like this this game when he leaves early. Well, there's
- 9:58Speaker 5: no way he's gonna make that stat. So that was
- 10:00Speaker 5: his problem. And then what blew my mind was with
- 10:03Speaker 5: the other to the Trailblazers head coach Chauncey Billups and
- 10:07Speaker 5: coach Damon Jones. Uh he was a ex Cleveland Cavaliers
- 10:13Speaker 5: assistant coach. Their charges listen to this were related to
- 10:16Speaker 5: sports betting, poker games, poker games that were rigged, And
- 10:21Speaker 5: if you dig deep into all these allegations, it will
- 10:23Speaker 5: blow your mind how the money that they must have
- 10:27Speaker 5: made and these people helped what is that I mean,
- 10:31Speaker 5: like I mean poker machines, Like I mean, this is
- 10:34Speaker 5: part of the allegations against all of these crime families,
- 10:37Speaker 5: Like there's rig technology in casinos, Like it goes deeper
- 10:41Speaker 5: than just the NBA. This part of it, the prop
- 10:44Speaker 5: best They.
- 10:44Speaker 7: Were talking about how there was even like barcodes on
- 10:47Speaker 7: cards at the poker table.
- 10:49Speaker 8: You can zoom in and.
- 10:50Speaker 5: See that they had, Like yeah, an extortion. Extortion was
- 10:55Speaker 5: another piece of it, which is that's an ugly you know,
- 10:58Speaker 5: that's got to be an ugly fault. Who knows what,
- 11:00Speaker 5: But but it's it's just so deep and and and
- 11:04Speaker 5: they've arrested I think like thirty four people so far.
- 11:07Speaker 5: But I guarantee you there's more to this is gonna
- 11:11Speaker 5: and it may it may transcend the NBA, it may
- 11:14Speaker 5: go to other sports. I don't know.
- 11:17Speaker 4: Okay, So all of these terms and all that kind
- 11:20Speaker 4: of stuff, which which I have no working knowledge.
- 11:24Speaker 5: Of, what until one.
- 11:28Speaker 2: And and what what? What amazes me about that? How
- 11:35Speaker 2: do you? How do you do that? Why would you
- 11:39Speaker 2: want to do that.
- 11:41Speaker 4: With a game that you played with I'm assuming with
- 11:46Speaker 4: some integrity, some goal setting of what you wanted to do,
- 11:51Speaker 4: what you wanted to be. And let's assume that I
- 11:54Speaker 4: did all that, and I'm I'm that thing that I
- 11:56Speaker 4: wanted to be.
- 11:57Speaker 2: And my next my next step is going into gambling.
- 12:02Speaker 4: I lose all of that. I'm risking all of that career,
- 12:07Speaker 4: all of that legacy for money that do I really
- 12:12Speaker 4: need it? Does any one of those guys really even
- 12:15Speaker 4: need it?
- 12:15Speaker 5: And and no they don't. You're right you're doing. But
- 12:19Speaker 5: here's the thing. If they're capable, if these families are capable,
- 12:23Speaker 5: I mean these are crime families, Yes, if they're capable
- 12:25Speaker 5: of extortion. They may have given and I hate to
- 12:28Speaker 5: say this because it's kind of cliche, but they may
- 12:30Speaker 5: have given them offers they couldn't refuse. You know what
- 12:32Speaker 5: I'm saying, like, you know, you need you need to
- 12:34Speaker 5: do this, you need to do that, because this could
- 12:37Speaker 5: be the consequence. I'm not saying that that's the truth.
- 12:40Speaker 5: That's my own theory.
- 12:42Speaker 2: But I think it is the sport.
- 12:43Speaker 7: Of it too, as someone who is very minded in
- 12:48Speaker 7: the mindset of being competitive and winning and winning. Yeah,
- 12:52Speaker 7: I think it just you take it from the game
- 12:55Speaker 7: and you just move it to money. I think it's
- 12:58Speaker 7: the same kind of addiction to winning, but just in
- 13:00Speaker 7: a different.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Realm, different forms.
- 13:02Speaker 4: And I think you're right because I I've heard players
- 13:05Speaker 4: talk about this or that, whatever thing that they're in
- 13:10Speaker 4: that what they like about it is it's competitive. You
- 13:13Speaker 4: know that, you know, And because the competitive side to
- 13:17Speaker 4: a player, I think is is it becomes everything to
- 13:23Speaker 4: you now fortunately or unfortunately however you want to look
- 13:27Speaker 4: at it. For me, I love to play golf. I'm
- 13:31Speaker 4: not very good at it. I can I can accept
- 13:34Speaker 4: losing in that because I'm not very good.
- 13:36Speaker 2: At it, we know, So.
- 13:46Speaker 5: Just apply your w C hs.
- 13:49Speaker 2: But you know, like, I don't.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Know if I'm so competitive to the to the to
- 13:55Speaker 4: a degree that I would risk take that chance of
- 14:02Speaker 4: the integrity of whatever integrity that I have on my name,
- 14:06Speaker 4: whatever notoriety that I have in my name, Like, why
- 14:09Speaker 4: would I risk that?
- 14:11Speaker 5: But during your time, it was taboo, and that you've
- 14:14Speaker 5: got that mindset.
- 14:17Speaker 7: Maybe in the NFL, but Pete Rose, Yeah, it was
- 14:20Speaker 7: banned in nineteen eighty nine.
- 14:23Speaker 5: Yeah, and it was it was. Yeah, it was taboo.
- 14:25Speaker 5: That's what I'm saying. You could not do any sports betting,
- 14:28Speaker 5: and now you couldn't. But it went on, well it
- 14:30Speaker 5: went on. But what I'm saying is it wasn't something
- 14:34Speaker 5: that they would let slide it that way. Okay, sure,
- 14:37Speaker 5: because now we've got ESPN in bed with DraftKings or whoever,
- 14:42Speaker 5: and they.
- 14:43Speaker 2: I think it's a problem.
- 14:44Speaker 5: Listen today, I had and this is no lie. I
- 14:46Speaker 5: had ESPN on. They broke the story or you know,
- 14:49Speaker 5: they it's been on a cycle all day, but they
- 14:52Speaker 5: tell the story about what this whole you know, this
- 14:54Speaker 5: sports gambling thing going on. And then the very next
- 14:57Speaker 5: segment they go to their sports betting uh segment, and
- 15:00Speaker 5: they're talking about Well, this is a sure bet, and
- 15:02Speaker 5: I'm saying, are you kidding me? Somebody's producer needs to
- 15:08Speaker 5: answer for that, Like I think I would have put
- 15:10Speaker 5: that a little further away from the story.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Bet. Okay, well let me and let me ask this question.
- 15:13Speaker 4: Okay, So one, you bring on NBA players, You bring
- 15:18Speaker 4: on all these star players to be host, co host
- 15:22Speaker 4: and guests and all of that.
- 15:25Speaker 2: And you're tying them into.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Something that is basically whether they're former players or what
- 15:34Speaker 4: you're you're you're adding on to something that could be
- 15:39Speaker 4: detrimental to them. So how can I go to ESPN
- 15:44Speaker 4: and be on the show and all they're talking about
- 15:47Speaker 4: is gambling?
- 15:48Speaker 2: I know?
- 15:48Speaker 8: Well, I mean, come on, that's their job this industry.
- 15:52Speaker 7: I mean, you get these national buys from ad agencies,
- 15:57Speaker 7: and you know, so long as the ads are within
- 15:59Speaker 7: the ambling laws of the state that they're airing, you know,
- 16:03Speaker 7: they've paid for.
- 16:03Speaker 8: It, so we have to air it.
- 16:05Speaker 7: Same thing with programming, you can it's like ESPN program
- 16:08Speaker 7: or even like a local station here. You you sell
- 16:11Speaker 7: what's called like a benchmark and they'll be like a
- 16:13Speaker 7: certain segment within a show, and then you go out
- 16:16Speaker 7: and you find a sponsor. Same thing as how your
- 16:18Speaker 7: podcasting sponsors you can sponsor their segments.
- 16:22Speaker 8: So you get these draft kings and that MGM and
- 16:25Speaker 8: all that.
- 16:25Speaker 5: It's not a good look though, I mean, it's them
- 16:29Speaker 5: all of the money now, I mean, it doesn't shock me.
- 16:32Speaker 5: I mean we we've talked about this on the show before,
- 16:34Speaker 5: but not we never dreamed that this would break to
- 16:37Speaker 5: this extent.
- 16:38Speaker 4: To where yes, we get actually save Yeah, this is
- 16:42Speaker 4: the NBA and these folks are likely.
- 16:44Speaker 2: To go to jail. Oh yeah, I mean and they're
- 16:48Speaker 2: notable people.
- 16:50Speaker 5: They're they're facing charges. Yes, there they're and and they've
- 16:52Speaker 5: both been placed on leave. But we know where that
- 16:55Speaker 5: and of course, let let's look at how this affects
- 16:57Speaker 5: the NBA. Let's have that conversation, because we know, of you,
- 17:00Speaker 5: ship has not been great the past what ten years,
- 17:03Speaker 5: has been on a decline. It really has. You guys
- 17:06Speaker 5: can disagree with me, you're right, and so the NBA
- 17:10Speaker 5: that I can't you know, I'm going to paraphrase what
- 17:13Speaker 5: their statement was about the whole the whole situation, but
- 17:16Speaker 5: they said they're reviewing the whole situation, cooperating with the FBI,
- 17:21Speaker 5: UH and they want their top priority is the integrity
- 17:24Speaker 5: of the game. Why I think that ship's ship's kind
- 17:26Speaker 5: of sailed right now. I don't know how you I
- 17:29Speaker 5: don't know if they can repair this, especially if it
- 17:32Speaker 5: goes deeper than what we what we're seeing right now.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Well, it would be almost like you know, like the
- 17:39Speaker 4: maybe like a steroid.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Issue or a drug issue or whatever it happens.
- 17:48Speaker 4: You you you, somebody gets caught doing whatever, right, they're
- 17:53Speaker 4: caught red handed, so everybody's talking about them. All that
- 17:58Speaker 4: the league or the organization wants to do is basically
- 18:03Speaker 4: kind of separate themselves from that person and.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Say, so Lisa was doing that.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Really, I know she was a player, but she's doing
- 18:12Speaker 4: that on her own. And we want to be over
- 18:14Speaker 4: here and we're going to start, uh putting some commercials
- 18:18Speaker 4: on that is going to be anti this, antie that,
- 18:22Speaker 4: and that's the whole so we can get so we
- 18:26Speaker 4: can kind of get ourselves a fresh slate.
- 18:31Speaker 2: No, you can't get it.
- 18:33Speaker 5: I don't think.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I don't think you can get it.
- 18:35Speaker 5: There's because teams they implicated, right there are four teams
- 18:39Speaker 5: that they said probably had more ties and those were
- 18:42Speaker 5: the nuggets. No, No, I'm sorry the Hornets, the Raptors,
- 18:47Speaker 5: Trailblazers of course their head coach, and then the Lakers.
- 18:51Speaker 5: Who Lakers are on that list. It's a short list.
- 18:54Speaker 8: That's where your biggest money is in the league.
- 18:57Speaker 5: Yeah, but I mean that that kind of raises eyebrows, right,
- 18:59Speaker 5: I mean, that's right, that's money.
- 19:01Speaker 7: I like the way you described it though, as kind
- 19:03Speaker 7: of like a drug issue, because in a way, I
- 19:05Speaker 7: mean it's sort of that same.
- 19:07Speaker 2: People get a thing.
- 19:08Speaker 8: Yeah, the thing I think you're going to have.
- 19:10Speaker 7: I think the league, if they want to maintain any
- 19:14Speaker 7: sense of the game, there's going to have to be expulsions. Oh,
- 19:19Speaker 7: we're gonna have to say, okay, you know, if you
- 19:22Speaker 7: indictments are one thing that if they're proven guilty, right,
- 19:26Speaker 7: you've got to say you no longer have a place
- 19:28Speaker 7: in the NBA as a coach, as a player.
- 19:31Speaker 8: You're out, You're done. That's it.
- 19:33Speaker 5: I'm going to counterpoint what you just said about the addiction.
- 19:36Speaker 5: I know that, Yeah, some of the athletes actually have
- 19:39Speaker 5: problems with making bets. That that's part of a gambling addiction.
- 19:43Speaker 5: We're talking about someone that lets these gambling you know,
- 19:49Speaker 5: groups or whatever you want to call families, the crime
- 19:52Speaker 5: families know when they're leaving a game or know that
- 19:55Speaker 5: this is going to happen, that that's not an addiction.
- 19:57Speaker 5: That is that's just kind of shady my book.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Like, that's that's making money.
- 20:02Speaker 5: That's making money.
- 20:03Speaker 2: That's that's right, making money.
- 20:04Speaker 5: That's outside of like a gambling problem, isn't it.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I don't know, so I would, I would think so.
- 20:11Speaker 5: And that's why I go back to my point about
- 20:13Speaker 5: maybe these crime family I mean, it all come out.
- 20:15Speaker 5: It's gonna come out eventually, and I think there's gonna
- 20:17Speaker 5: be way more coming out in the future. But I
- 20:19Speaker 5: mean I think that maybe some of these crime families
- 20:21Speaker 5: may have put some pressure. They may have had some
- 20:23Speaker 5: dirt on some of these players you don't know, and said, hey,
- 20:26Speaker 5: you need to cooperate with us.
- 20:27Speaker 7: And I mean, if we if we've seen anything in
- 20:31Speaker 7: the news this year, it's that there have been some
- 20:34Speaker 7: really crazy parties with celebrities.
- 20:38Speaker 8: That have been going on for a while.
- 20:40Speaker 5: Amen.
- 20:41Speaker 4: That's that's really really and they could have that they
- 20:44Speaker 4: could create a great point.
- 20:46Speaker 5: Hanging over somebody's heads.
- 20:47Speaker 4: Yes, yes, because you know, when you when you get
- 20:51Speaker 4: connected with somebody you know and like I said, you know,
- 20:55Speaker 4: I'm connected.
- 20:55Speaker 2: With a guy who helps me, helps me make money.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Signing autographs and all that kind of stuff. So somebody
- 21:02Speaker 4: else says, well, you know what I got, I got
- 21:04Speaker 4: a better way. You know, if you just do this
- 21:07Speaker 4: or do that, Yeah, I can double that money for
- 21:10Speaker 4: you and guarantee guarantee that you can that you can
- 21:14Speaker 4: make it.
- 21:14Speaker 2: What's my first thing? What is it? Now?
- 21:17Speaker 4: The question then becomes when he says it, and I
- 21:20Speaker 4: can and I can see that there's something wrong with it.
- 21:23Speaker 4: If I accept it, I'm I'm accountable. I'm I'm I'm
- 21:28Speaker 4: straight up accountable. I should have to turn I should
- 21:31Speaker 4: be smart enough to turn that away because I know
- 21:36Speaker 4: if there's any chance of getting caught, I don't want it.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I just don't want it. It's it's just it's too
- 21:45Speaker 2: it's it's too much. Man, it's thirty Yeah it is.
- 21:49Speaker 7: And here's here's the thing too, it's even over the decades,
- 21:53Speaker 7: it's a very small pool of people, so there's going
- 21:56Speaker 7: to be connections everywhere. There's only been about five thousand
- 22:00Speaker 7: players in the NBA since its inception, the NFL only
- 22:04Speaker 7: twenty five thousand. That's over the whole entire length of
- 22:08Speaker 7: the NFL, there's only twenty five thousand players.
- 22:10Speaker 2: That's crazy because you'd think more.
- 22:12Speaker 7: Well you would, man, you know, that does make you
- 22:15Speaker 7: realize real quick. You know, you've got a connection to
- 22:18Speaker 7: one guy who's probably got a connection to somebody who's
- 22:21Speaker 7: got the I mean, it's not that far of a
- 22:23Speaker 7: separation between you and this.
- 22:26Speaker 2: If I can get you, then I can get Lisa. Yeah.
- 22:29Speaker 4: In my mind, the guy who's talking to me about, hey,
- 22:32Speaker 4: you know these people, you know, some certain people that
- 22:35Speaker 4: you can maybe bring into it with. And I'm like thinking, well, yeah,
- 22:38Speaker 4: I do. I've got a couple right there at the station.
- 22:40Speaker 4: You know, I can probably talk to them. Next thing,
- 22:44Speaker 4: you know, you're thinking, well, who do I know? Lisa's
- 22:48Speaker 4: thinking about who do I know?
- 22:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 22:50Speaker 5: So that's why I think this list will grow. I
- 22:53Speaker 5: don't think this is the end of it, and I
- 22:54Speaker 5: think it's going to get uglier, and I think there's
- 22:56Speaker 5: going to be some more recognizable names that come out
- 22:59Speaker 5: that it won't be pretty. I also read and then
- 23:04Speaker 5: I'll we can do whatever. But I also read an
- 23:06Speaker 5: article a lawyer kind of summarized what the allegations of
- 23:10Speaker 5: the FBI, what they their findings were, and basically he
- 23:14Speaker 5: had three three points and the first point was NBA
- 23:17Speaker 5: players and coachers coaches were a crucial part plural. Did
- 23:23Speaker 5: you hear that coaches and players were a crucial part
- 23:26Speaker 5: of both alleged rings. They were sources of information for
- 23:30Speaker 5: betters who put money on prop bets. They also released
- 23:34Speaker 5: non public information about who wasn't playing in games. And
- 23:40Speaker 5: like I said, you know, thirty four were arrested, so
- 23:42Speaker 5: that was the other part of it. But it just
- 23:45Speaker 5: blows my mind that it has gotten to this point
- 23:49Speaker 5: and how long the FBI had been actually investigating. This
- 23:53Speaker 5: has been going on for quite some time.
- 23:55Speaker 4: But who's the thirty four? Who were the third I mean,
- 24:00Speaker 4: what role did they play? And who are they?
- 24:04Speaker 2: What? What?
- 24:05Speaker 8: What?
- 24:05Speaker 2: What's what makes me? What? What? What makes me think?
- 24:09Speaker 2: What comes to my mind?
- 24:11Speaker 4: If I'm the coach and I'm I'm involved in it,
- 24:16Speaker 4: who else would I want to try to get involved with?
- 24:19Speaker 2: I would try to I need I'm gonna need my star.
- 24:23Speaker 7: Okay, So it looks like Chauncey Billips, Terry Rosier, yeah,
- 24:27Speaker 7: Damon Jones were the three inside the NBA and then
- 24:31Speaker 7: the other thirty one defendants include members and associates of
- 24:35Speaker 7: organized crime families, so it's only a few folks from
- 24:39Speaker 7: the lead.
- 24:41Speaker 4: Yes, but see, like, okay, so let's say I'm doing
- 24:45Speaker 4: and Lisa's another Lisa's a friend of mine, and she's
- 24:49Speaker 4: in the league too, and I'm thinking this is a
- 24:52Speaker 4: good deal.
- 24:54Speaker 2: So at some point I had to have talked to
- 24:57Speaker 2: her about it.
- 24:58Speaker 4: I don't think I'm gonna keep that as then I'm
- 25:00Speaker 4: going to talk to you about it, or at least
- 25:02Speaker 4: is going to talk to you about it.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Say hey, es, Carl, talk to you about this.
- 25:04Speaker 4: You know, I just don't know how just from my
- 25:08Speaker 4: inside process of locker room talk, hanging out.
- 25:13Speaker 9: Talk, association, association with everybody, yes, with everybody that you have,
- 25:19Speaker 9: I just don't see me thinking like I'm going to
- 25:22Speaker 9: hold this to myself because I can make more money
- 25:24Speaker 9: if I the more people I can get under me,
- 25:27Speaker 9: I can make money.
- 25:28Speaker 7: I personally think in these situations, I feel like more
- 25:33Speaker 7: times than not, people are actually just real out in
- 25:35Speaker 7: the open about it.
- 25:36Speaker 8: They're not really actually secretive at all.
- 25:38Speaker 5: That may be true too, well, they've made it to
- 25:40Speaker 5: that it doesn't feel like it's wrong. I mean, like
- 25:42Speaker 5: I said, you can turn on ESPN or whatever, and
- 25:45Speaker 5: and gambling is not it's not shunned. I mean, it's
- 25:48Speaker 5: it's part of every all sports well.
- 25:52Speaker 7: And I think once you get to that certain level,
- 25:55Speaker 7: you can be a little bit more open because even
- 25:58Speaker 7: though you're being open about it, you're still in a
- 26:00Speaker 7: tight circle. Yes, in the controlled environment because you're in
- 26:04Speaker 7: professional sports. So that I think is going to limit
- 26:08Speaker 7: the exposure to the And again, you know, I think
- 26:11Speaker 7: you can be open in that situation because everyone else
- 26:14Speaker 7: that knows kind of what's going on, they're in it too.
- 26:17Speaker 5: So Sterling just commented live on our my video for Facebook.
- 26:22Speaker 5: He's not going to call in Sterling, He's just going
- 26:24Speaker 5: to comment. Love you. I'll read what he said.
- 26:27Speaker 9: Though.
- 26:28Speaker 5: He said, no, the athletes just made mistakes. Yeah, I
- 26:33Speaker 5: agree with that. Yeah, I mean they are huge mistakes.
- 26:36Speaker 5: But unfortunately their mistakes are going to pay for judgment
- 26:39Speaker 5: poor judgment for sure. And I think the influence, I mean,
- 26:43Speaker 5: like I said, I think that we've we've kind of
- 26:46Speaker 5: just been going down this path of destruction by a
- 26:50Speaker 5: little by little, allowing the gambling platform as becoming part
- 26:56Speaker 5: of the norm of sports. I just feel like that
- 26:58Speaker 5: that was that was the first mistake before the athletes
- 27:03Speaker 5: make mistakes.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I I you know, I just feel like like you
- 27:13Speaker 4: you are, what would make you, what would make you first,
- 27:16Speaker 4: what would make you start, what would make you even
- 27:20Speaker 4: get into some racket like that? Like why are you
- 27:23Speaker 4: sitting around and trying to figure out, like, well, let
- 27:25Speaker 4: me gamble, Let me gamble, because there's gambling that you
- 27:28Speaker 4: don't that.
- 27:29Speaker 2: You can do.
- 27:30Speaker 4: But you you already know you can't gamble on sports.
- 27:33Speaker 4: You already know you're you were in the sport, so
- 27:36Speaker 4: you can't gamble and you can't you can't make those bets.
- 27:40Speaker 5: I just think they're so inundated with it. I mean
- 27:42Speaker 5: I think that you know, and it's so easy. I
- 27:45Speaker 5: mean it's not like it used to be where you
- 27:46Speaker 5: you had to go out on the street and meet
- 27:49Speaker 5: a person to make a bet or go to the casino.
- 27:51Speaker 5: I mean, you just pick up your phone.
- 27:52Speaker 4: But you could sign an off, you can sign your name.
- 27:54Speaker 4: You could probably go somewhere and sign your name and
- 27:57Speaker 4: make that kind of money.
- 27:58Speaker 7: I think people are either a gambler or they're not.
- 28:00Speaker 7: I mean, like for me personally, I'm not a gambler.
- 28:03Speaker 7: I get nothing out of it.
- 28:04Speaker 2: I get nothing out of it either, but I know for.
- 28:06Speaker 8: Some people there's a thrill in it. And and just.
- 28:10Speaker 7: Because you can't bet on if you're a professional athlete,
- 28:14Speaker 7: just because you can't bet in sports or in your sport,
- 28:19Speaker 7: I mean you.
- 28:20Speaker 8: Can still be a gambler.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:22Speaker 8: So, I mean it's it's just.
- 28:24Speaker 4: If you need to get that fixed, you can get
- 28:26Speaker 4: it somewhere else.
- 28:27Speaker 7: And I think that it's an easy bridge to cross now,
- 28:30Speaker 7: because like you mentioned, made it so much easier.
- 28:33Speaker 5: That's everywhere.
- 28:36Speaker 4: Well, tell Sterling, I'm not I'm not. I totally disagree
- 28:40Speaker 4: with him. And if and if he wants it.
- 28:42Speaker 5: To be, you're fired to meet each other in the
- 28:47Speaker 5: unemployment line.
- 28:49Speaker 2: We're gonna take a quick break here, but let him know.

- 30:27Speaker 3: Now back to the conversation.
- 30:30Speaker 2: All right, ladies and gentlemen. All right, so we're gonna
- 30:33Speaker 2: switch subjects.
- 30:33Speaker 4: And Lisa, this subject is really not a it's not
- 30:37Speaker 4: one that I'm really happy about to.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Discuss.
- 30:42Speaker 4: Really one of the best players that I think I've
- 30:47Speaker 4: ever really seen in my life, and for sure as
- 30:50Speaker 4: a defensive back. His name was Joey Browner. And I
- 30:55Speaker 4: think a lot of people remember the family of the Browners,
- 30:58Speaker 4: who all kind of play maid football and different sports.
- 31:05Speaker 4: I was, I was in Minnesota for the game last weekend,
- 31:08Speaker 4: and I saw some pictures of it. Yeah, and Joey
- 31:15Speaker 4: was like about a six three six' four two thirty
- 31:20Speaker 4: two forty strong safety that can run.
- 31:24Speaker 2: And could take on a. Lot he was a.
- 31:27Speaker 4: Legend he was like he was he was just he
- 31:30Speaker 4: was so so so, talented.
- 31:37Speaker 5: And, well CAN i give a little, background just BECAUSE
- 31:40Speaker 5: i know when you mentioned your friend to. Me it
- 31:43Speaker 5: took me a. MINUTE i had to kind of go
- 31:45Speaker 5: back and look, up you know the. THINGS i was.
- 31:47Speaker 5: Shocked and we had this conversation before we came on
- 31:50Speaker 5: the air about why he hasn't been on the ballot
- 31:52Speaker 5: to The hall Of National Football hall Of. Fame but
- 31:56Speaker 5: he was A, vikings like you, said defense back from
- 32:01Speaker 5: nineteen eighty three to nineteen ninety, one played college FOR
- 32:05Speaker 5: Usc he was selected nineteenth overall in the first round
- 32:09Speaker 5: of the nineteen eighty THREE Nfl, draft and he was
- 32:12Speaker 5: selected to Six Pro Boat? Bowls, carl how? Many how? Many?
- 32:17Speaker 2: Three he?
- 32:18Speaker 5: Had? Six? Yes, OH i just want to make sure
- 32:20Speaker 5: you clarified. That and Since i'm fired, anyway he amassd
- 32:25Speaker 5: over eleven hundred total tackles in his career with The,
- 32:30Speaker 5: vikings caused eighteen, fumbles were covered sixteen of, them and
- 32:34Speaker 5: led The vikings in non defensive categories over his. Career
- 32:38Speaker 5: so he is a very, established Storied viking. Player and
- 32:43Speaker 5: it's and it's unbeing nice to me UNTIL i looked it.
- 32:46Speaker 4: Up BUT i was, amazed and maybe for maybe for
- 32:49Speaker 4: a lot of, People but when you start talking About Ronnie,
- 32:52Speaker 4: Lott Kenny, easley some of those you know safeties back
- 32:56Speaker 4: in the.
- 32:56Speaker 2: Day joey.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Came in and became one of those guys during his
- 33:03Speaker 4: erau and and one of the things THAT i can remember,
- 33:10Speaker 4: was you, Know, Joey joey was a really mild mannered
- 33:13Speaker 4: kind of a. Guy and and he he he just
- 33:19Speaker 4: played like he was just a reactor to the. Play we,
- 33:24Speaker 4: changed not, we but The vikings changed how the strong
- 33:29Speaker 4: safety played and made him almost really like a. Linebacker
- 33:34Speaker 4: and you, know he so he'd be covering basically tight
- 33:38Speaker 4: ends and and and people like that more so than
- 33:40Speaker 4: than than wideouts when we'd be playing man the.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Man but he was so amazingly physical THAT.
- 33:49Speaker 4: I don't even know in today's, Game LIKE i don't
- 33:53Speaker 4: even know if if if he could fit today's.
- 33:55Speaker 5: GAME i just, yeah he was just two or the.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Penalty he would get, penalty he'd.
- 34:02Speaker 4: Get thrown, out things he could he'd picked people, up
- 34:08Speaker 4: he'd throw them down like you, know and if you
- 34:11Speaker 4: walked up on, him like he'd throw three or four
- 34:12Speaker 4: or five punches in a row without like even.
- 34:16Speaker 2: Thinking you, know he was just like he was just
- 34:19Speaker 2: he was.
- 34:20Speaker 4: Reactive And i'm telling you when we when when when
- 34:26Speaker 4: we were talking WHEN i was In minnesota this past,
- 34:27Speaker 4: Weekend like it was one thing to hear, it but
- 34:32Speaker 4: then somebody showed me like two pictures of, them and
- 34:37Speaker 4: one of them was like he he didn't have a shirt,
- 34:40Speaker 4: on WHICH i have no idea why he would not
- 34:42Speaker 4: have a shirt, on and taking a picture other than.
- 34:45Speaker 2: To to to make the case this is how he.
- 34:48Speaker 4: Looked and you, KNOW i DON'T i can't EVEN i
- 34:53Speaker 4: can't even tell you like he was Probably i'm telling you,
- 34:58Speaker 4: kids you're not like he was probably as then as you, like.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah where did? Where what's going?
- 35:05Speaker 8: On?
- 35:06Speaker 5: Yeah you?
- 35:06Speaker 4: Know and AND i heard a lot of there's a
- 35:08Speaker 4: whole lot of back talk about different things and how
- 35:11Speaker 4: he got to this place and how HE i guess
- 35:13Speaker 4: maybe people helped him to get to this bad. Place
- 35:15Speaker 4: but you, KNOW i don't have any facts behind, that
- 35:18Speaker 4: SO i don't want to really want to speak on
- 35:19Speaker 4: that just but more so just you, know when, players
- 35:24Speaker 4: when players get in this, SITUATION i think management ownership
- 35:30Speaker 4: should really play a major.
- 35:32Speaker 5: Role, absolutely you.
- 35:34Speaker 2: KNOW i think you, know whatever then and.
- 35:36Speaker 5: If dedicated the best years of your, life your, health
- 35:39Speaker 5: your your all of, it and probably maybe we don't.
- 35:43Speaker 5: Know like we, said you're not going to, speculate but
- 35:46Speaker 5: there's a possibility that it's related to pass play in THE. Nfl,
- 35:49Speaker 5: yes and they should just step up their, game.
- 35:52Speaker 4: Even even if you don't know, that, right even if
- 35:55Speaker 4: you don't, know even if you don't know, that here's
- 35:57Speaker 4: a player that, has you, know.
- 36:02Speaker 2: Spend his life in your.
- 36:06Speaker 4: Organization you get to have claimed him as a great.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Player and now he's in a very difficult.
- 36:14Speaker 5: Situation so you don't feel like The vikings have have
- 36:18Speaker 5: stepped in at.
- 36:19Speaker 2: ALL i don't.
- 36:21Speaker 5: KNOW i do Know Tommy kramer did a, fundraiser, yes
- 36:24Speaker 5: like LAST i don't, know a couple of months. Ago,
- 36:26Speaker 5: Yes sultz memorabilia that was going to go toward his.
- 36:29Speaker 2: Care there were there.
- 36:31Speaker 4: Were quite a few of the guys who stepped, in
- 36:33Speaker 4: and again that was that Was i'll Give i'll give
- 36:36Speaker 4: props To Buddy Buddy. Becker he he did. That he's
- 36:41Speaker 4: not affiliated at all with The Viking. Vikings he's just
- 36:45Speaker 4: that's that's just on his. Own that's he's just a
- 36:48Speaker 4: super good guy and and he's he Knows joey somewhat,
- 36:54Speaker 4: well and he wanted to make sure that there was
- 36:57Speaker 4: he could he had some place to where he could
- 36:59Speaker 4: go and be taken care.
- 37:02Speaker 2: Of and and so.
- 37:03Speaker 4: He he created that or raise that money for. Him
- 37:11Speaker 4: But i'm telling, you like it's and it's kind of
- 37:15Speaker 4: still bothered me a little bit, inside because, like this
- 37:19Speaker 4: was a guy that was probably one of the best
- 37:25Speaker 4: Players i've ever been on a team, with, right you,
- 37:27Speaker 4: know best one of the best defensive backs safeties THAT
- 37:33Speaker 4: i may have ever ever. Known and and AND i
- 37:36Speaker 4: didn't play With Ronnie, lott AND i didn't play with
- 37:39Speaker 4: none of those kind of Guys Kenny easily and and
- 37:42Speaker 4: all Those BUT i knew what what he could. Do
- 37:46Speaker 4: and now to to sit here and have to, realize you,
- 37:54Speaker 4: know maybe what his fate, is you, know like and AND,
- 37:59Speaker 4: i LIKE i, SAID I i don't really know where
- 38:01Speaker 4: the family. IS i don't know where they you, know
- 38:03Speaker 4: their involvement in taking care of.
- 38:06Speaker 5: Them, Sure But i'm sure if he's if he's that you,
- 38:10Speaker 5: know that, ill that catastrophic, illness that it's probably just taken,
- 38:14Speaker 5: on you know how it is with. HEALTHCARE i, mean
- 38:16Speaker 5: it's probably been a huge expense just to get him
- 38:20Speaker 5: taken care. Of the family may be involved and just
- 38:22Speaker 5: ran out of. MONEY i, mean it's just a sad.
- 38:24Speaker 7: SITUATION i feel, like is this sort of one of
- 38:27Speaker 7: the things that The Players association and former players have
- 38:30Speaker 7: really been fighting. FOR i, MEAN i think the bulk
- 38:34Speaker 7: of the spotlight has been on brain injuries and memory
- 38:38Speaker 7: loss and things like, that BUT i think we're also
- 38:41Speaker 7: finding that there's a lot of other health issues that
- 38:46Speaker 7: have come from, playing especially you, know thirty forty fifty
- 38:50Speaker 7: years ago that for, ONE i don't think medical technology
- 38:54Speaker 7: was really there right, there weren't doctors as many doctors
- 38:57Speaker 7: on the sidelines the way they have them. Now there's
- 39:00Speaker 7: not all these protocols that they have in place down
- 39:02Speaker 7: and take someone out of the game if they suspect an.
- 39:05Speaker 7: INJURY i, mean it's kind OF i, mean this is
- 39:08Speaker 7: like a prime example of there's work.
- 39:13Speaker 8: That has been. Done there's a lot of work that
- 39:15Speaker 8: still needs to be.
- 39:16Speaker 4: Done AND i think the work THAT i think the
- 39:18Speaker 4: work that needs to be done can be done if
- 39:22Speaker 4: we just decide. To AND i THINK i think the
- 39:25Speaker 4: problem to me and the work of what work needs
- 39:29Speaker 4: to happen is you have to treat you have to
- 39:33Speaker 4: take care of that particular. Player you don't just you.
- 39:38Speaker 4: Can you can give him a, dollar that's, fine that'll.
- 39:41Speaker 4: Help but you have doctors that you have appointed for
- 39:48Speaker 4: this and for, that and for this and for.
- 39:50Speaker 2: That send him to that. Doctor have that doctor send
- 39:55Speaker 2: the bill to.
- 39:56Speaker 5: You you know What.
- 39:57Speaker 2: I'm, Saying like.
- 39:59Speaker 5: In when you get, Forgotten, yes like players like you
- 40:03Speaker 5: guys are just kind of you were. THERE i mean
- 40:07Speaker 5: you were there when the league was really building its
- 40:09Speaker 5: name and getting to this point that it is, today
- 40:12Speaker 5: and then you guys are just kind of left in
- 40:14Speaker 5: the shadows when it comes to this this kind of.
- 40:16Speaker 4: STUFF i think everything that you're giving, us everything that's
- 40:20Speaker 4: WE'RE i think everybody's, THANKFUL i think every.
- 40:22Speaker 2: Player but on the other side.
- 40:25Speaker 4: Of, it it, is when you really think about, it
- 40:29Speaker 4: it's really, Small like it's just it's a it's a
- 40:31Speaker 4: compared to today today in what you're. Paying you're paying
- 40:37Speaker 4: a six digit last round. Pick you know you're going
- 40:41Speaker 4: to pay him six, digits, Right and you can't tell
- 40:44Speaker 4: me that you don't have the funding.
- 40:47Speaker 2: To help players out.
- 40:49Speaker 4: Who are medically have a medical issue that could likely
- 40:54Speaker 4: run drain you of your of your, money any money
- 40:58Speaker 4: that you could have, had or is it situation where
- 41:01Speaker 4: like this particular situation With joey where his whole life
- 41:05Speaker 4: is is in an uproar because of his. Situation have they.
- 41:12Speaker 5: And you you may not be able to answer this, Question,
- 41:14Speaker 5: caral but if they reached has anyone reached out to
- 41:16Speaker 5: the to the team and and to the organization and
- 41:20Speaker 5: said this is going on with this?
- 41:21Speaker 4: Player AND i THINK i think someone has CONTACTED i
- 41:28Speaker 4: think somebody has contacted the. League BUT i think THAT
- 41:33Speaker 4: i would THINK i would like to hope that The
- 41:36Speaker 4: vikings would, know, yes now do they can they get to?
- 41:41Speaker 2: Him will somebody try, to.
- 41:45Speaker 4: You, know make that work so so that there's a
- 41:48Speaker 4: conversation or talking about? Him could to, Me i'd like
- 41:52Speaker 4: to think that my, family one of my family, members you,
- 41:55Speaker 4: know you, Know i'd like to think that If donna
- 41:58Speaker 4: said something was going, on.
- 42:00Speaker 5: She would reach, out she would.
- 42:01Speaker 4: Reach out to somebody and try to figure out how
- 42:03Speaker 4: to you, know what CAN i do need to do?
- 42:05Speaker 4: This BUT i don't know If joey has been close
- 42:09Speaker 4: enough to some of the family members that he that's
- 42:12Speaker 4: that's that's around now to where for them to even.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Know AND i think THAT i think.
- 42:18Speaker 4: The hardest part about that type of situation for a
- 42:22Speaker 4: spouse is you don't, know, right you, know there's so
- 42:25Speaker 4: many different organizations and mail that you.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Get you're looking at it and you're, like, well what is?
- 42:30Speaker 2: This and you're just.
- 42:31Speaker 5: Overwhelmed you're just overwhelmed with, everything with the, illness with the,
- 42:35Speaker 5: bills with just everything that comes with.
- 42:37Speaker 4: It, Right and when you get to that, point there's
- 42:41Speaker 4: no there's no there's no space for you to.
- 42:44Speaker 2: Spend time trying to look something.
- 42:46Speaker 5: Up what DO i?
- 42:47Speaker 4: Look there's got to be an eight hundred number to,
- 42:49Speaker 4: This so there's got to be an eight hundred number to.
- 42:51Speaker 4: That you're just like every, day you're trying to get
- 42:53Speaker 4: me out of, Bed you're trying to get me, dressed
- 42:56Speaker 4: you're trying to get me.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Showered you're in. Surval, yeah you're in survival, mode you.
- 43:00Speaker 4: Know AND i really don't and and AND i really
- 43:04Speaker 4: don't know that people understand this is this is on
- 43:09Speaker 4: a track to get worse.
- 43:13Speaker 2: With current, players you.
- 43:16Speaker 4: Know AND i hate to you, KNOW i hate to say,
- 43:17Speaker 4: it but that's there's a reality that this is only
- 43:20Speaker 4: going to get, Worse this is not going to get. Better,
- 43:22Speaker 4: Right helmet all the helmet safety that you can.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Create right when you take so many, hits so many, hits, yeah,
- 43:30Speaker 5: NATURAL i mean you're going to have some.
- 43:32Speaker 4: Issues your head and your brain are not supposed to
- 43:35Speaker 4: really do what football, does, right you, Know and and it's.
- 43:43Speaker 5: So they need to they the. League kind of what
- 43:45Speaker 5: you're saying is the league kind of needs to look
- 43:48Speaker 5: at the future players and say and in former players and,
- 43:53Speaker 5: say we need some type of protocol in place when
- 43:56Speaker 5: someone has a catastrophic injury or a catastrophe struck illness
- 44:01Speaker 5: that may or may not be related to the. Game
- 44:03Speaker 5: they were our. Players just like an employee of a
- 44:07Speaker 5: company or a, business they have an obligation to help
- 44:11Speaker 5: you get through whatever it is that or get you,
- 44:15Speaker 5: know the resources that you, need whether it's treatment or
- 44:18Speaker 5: paying the costs that come along with that type of.
- 44:22Speaker 5: Illness they need to be active in that.
- 44:25Speaker 4: Absolutely and on top of, that when you start talking
- 44:29Speaker 4: about the professional, ranks you start talking about the college.
- 44:32Speaker 4: Ranks now look at the college and the ranks and
- 44:35Speaker 4: look at the kind of money they're given.
- 44:37Speaker 5: For, nil, RIGHT i mean the money is.
- 44:40Speaker 2: There, yeah the dudes are happy to get that.
- 44:41Speaker 4: Nil but it's what happens though if you get the
- 44:46Speaker 4: nil money and you you forget even who you, are
- 44:51Speaker 4: where to, go how to move. Around what's that money good?
- 44:55Speaker 2: For?
- 44:55Speaker 8: Yeah you?
- 44:56Speaker 5: Know and so my family put a price on.
- 44:58Speaker 2: Health no you.
- 44:59Speaker 4: Cannot AND i and to, ME i just think that
- 45:02Speaker 4: that the, college at the collegiate level and at the
- 45:05Speaker 4: at the professional, levels there has to be. Work there
- 45:09Speaker 4: has to be work to try to, fix to try to,
- 45:12Speaker 4: solve to try To there should be study after study
- 45:17Speaker 4: after study of ways to.
- 45:20Speaker 2: Prevent, it stop it. Whatever just just just address.
- 45:26Speaker 4: It put out some kind of WHAT i would, say
- 45:28Speaker 4: true effort two to address, it because you're not saying.
- 45:35Speaker 4: Anything you know What i'm, Saying you're not LIKE i
- 45:39Speaker 4: would like for The vikings to to make, it to
- 45:42Speaker 4: say it in the on in public In minneapolis and,
- 45:47Speaker 4: say you, know this is what's going on With Joey,
- 45:49Speaker 4: brown and we we're doing some things to try to help.
- 45:52Speaker 4: Him and because there are people who would show up
- 45:57Speaker 4: and do things for, him help him with just.
- 46:00Speaker 5: It just like you know you're play like your former
- 46:02Speaker 5: players that know, him like Like Tommy, kramer you know
- 46:05Speaker 5: they're they're pitching in they're trying, to you, know help
- 46:08Speaker 5: him in, fact who was the player we had on
- 46:10Speaker 5: and he mentioned he mentioned this. SITUATION i can't, remember
- 46:15Speaker 5: BUT i remember him talking about might, WELL i don't,
- 46:19Speaker 5: KNOW i can't. Remember so you.
- 46:21Speaker 7: Would think a league that makes over twenty billion dollars
- 46:25Speaker 7: a year here we, go could afford. SOMETHING i mean,
- 46:28Speaker 7: THERE i was just looking up some of the money
- 46:31Speaker 7: stats for THE nfl with the broadcast of media deals
- 46:35Speaker 7: between twenty twenty two through twenty thirty. Three it's over
- 46:40Speaker 7: one hundred and ten billion dollars in guaranteed. Revenues at the.
- 46:45Speaker 5: Least the owners should be, Responsible.
- 46:47Speaker 4: So you couldn't put one, players so you couldn't come
- 46:50Speaker 4: out with one billion team to potentially howse somebody or
- 46:55Speaker 4: pay their their medical bills or.
- 46:57Speaker 7: Something when the way you were to talking about it earlier,
- 47:01Speaker 7: too it kind of got me thinking about why why
- 47:03Speaker 7: is there? Not why is there not like a specific
- 47:08Speaker 7: medical program FOR nfl players where if like an, insurance,
- 47:14Speaker 7: yeah if something gets beyond something that they can just
- 47:18Speaker 7: go to their local hospital wherever they live and deal
- 47:20Speaker 7: with if something has become.
- 47:21Speaker 2: So and we have and here's the, thing we have,
- 47:24Speaker 2: insurance which is. Good.
- 47:25Speaker 4: Yeah you, know as a former, PLAYER i can you,
- 47:27Speaker 4: know AND i have reimbursement, money you, know for for
- 47:34Speaker 4: any of the payments THAT i, have it's a one time, payment,
- 47:38Speaker 4: okay and it's it's.
- 47:40Speaker 2: It's not it's not.
- 47:41Speaker 8: Alive you.
- 47:42Speaker 4: Know if you IF i had an IF i had a,
- 47:45Speaker 4: surgery SAY i had a knee, Surgery i'm probably gonna
- 47:49Speaker 4: be about halfway through that money BEFORE i get, well you,
- 47:55Speaker 4: know and then it's.
- 47:56Speaker 5: Gone, unfortunately that's a reflection of healthcare and in the.
- 48:00Speaker 5: Nation that is. TRUE i, mean it is just a
- 48:03Speaker 5: it's it's a thing that needs to be addressed. Globally
- 48:06Speaker 5: So i'm sorry about your. FRIEND i really. Am, yeah
- 48:09Speaker 5: it's you, know it's it's it's that's, tough it's.
- 48:13Speaker 4: It's gut it's gut, wrenching and it's it's scary because you,
- 48:17Speaker 4: know you just don't, know like who's, Next and then
- 48:24Speaker 4: on on on on bringing Up. Tommy you, Know Tommy
- 48:27Speaker 4: kramer has been you, know he has been an alcoholic
- 48:30Speaker 4: for Since i've known, him since we played.
- 48:33Speaker 2: Together and he's finally off of.
- 48:36Speaker 4: It and he's been off now maybe six or seven,
- 48:41Speaker 4: MONTHS i think, maybe and he looks so much.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Better he still doesn't talk a whole, Lot he'll.
- 48:49Speaker 4: Laugh he's moving around, better is not as slow as
- 48:53Speaker 4: he was. Before and and, again this, family The becker,
- 49:01Speaker 4: family has done so much for. Him like he stays
- 49:06Speaker 4: there with, them he would have no place to. Go,
- 49:09Speaker 4: wow he lives there with. Them, no, no no, paid you,
- 49:13Speaker 4: know doesn't pay. Anything he gets his. Meals they're, LIKE
- 49:17Speaker 4: i don't want to say it's like a, child but
- 49:20Speaker 4: he's like he's like a third party in the. Household
- 49:24Speaker 4: and who does, that? Right you, know who's going to
- 49:27Speaker 4: do that for? Him if if if not, them then.
- 49:30Speaker 5: Who it's a good way to sum it. Up if not,
- 49:33Speaker 5: them then?
- 49:34Speaker 8: Who that is the big question question, Really and he's
- 49:38Speaker 8: the biggest.
- 49:38Speaker 2: Guy he's the biggest.
- 49:40Speaker 4: Guy every signing that we go, to, yeah everybody's, like,
- 49:44Speaker 4: oh It's Tommy. Kramer yeah he. Can he signed his
- 49:47Speaker 4: name same way he used. To you, know it's a
- 49:50Speaker 4: little bit, slower but it's the same audimn you. Know
- 49:53Speaker 4: And i'm telling you.
- 49:56Speaker 5: Now that you mentioned, HIM i. WANTED i wanted to
- 49:57Speaker 5: bring up SOMETHING i was exploring when WHEN i looked to,
- 50:00Speaker 5: it kind OF i kind of went down a rabbit.
- 50:02Speaker 5: Hole imagine that that never happens when you're on the, internet,
- 50:05Speaker 5: Right SO i get on there AND i looked up
- 50:07Speaker 5: about your, friend and then it it sent me to
- 50:09Speaker 5: a link About Tommy. Kramer and so then WHEN i
- 50:12Speaker 5: look over to the, corner there was another another link To.
- 50:16Speaker 5: Uh it was just it said Sports legends and it
- 50:20Speaker 5: was you, Know, vikings you, Guys and SO i clicked
- 50:23Speaker 5: on it AND i went through the players and lo
- 50:25Speaker 5: and behold there's Car. Lee AND i, said, well why
- 50:28Speaker 5: haven't you talked about? This what you? Know what what
- 50:30Speaker 5: what you guys do in this this ORGAN i don't
- 50:32Speaker 5: know what you call, it like a club an, organization
- 50:35Speaker 5: but can you tell us just a little bit about
- 50:38Speaker 5: how you're involved with the Sports?
- 50:39Speaker 4: Legends, well it's it's more so a term that they
- 50:43Speaker 4: use for retired. Players, yeah do most teams have this
- 50:50Speaker 4: or just The? VIKINGS i, FIGURED i don't know. That
- 50:53Speaker 4: i've never heard it from anybody. Else, okay you, know,
- 50:55Speaker 4: okay BUT i know that The. VIKINGS i mean THAT'S i,
- 50:58Speaker 4: mean you get referred to that way almost everywhere you,
- 51:02Speaker 4: go like these are The Viking. Legends, yeah you, know that's.
- 51:08Speaker 2: It's like it is like a club.
- 51:10Speaker 4: Elite, well anybody who has, retired anybody who is who's there.
- 51:17Speaker 4: Present you're gonna get. That that that's gonna be a
- 51:20Speaker 4: term that you're gonna. Get i've got tons and tons
- 51:24Speaker 4: of shirts that have like, Legends viking legends and stuff like.
- 51:28Speaker 5: That wait a, minute, hello where's.
- 51:31Speaker 8: Our, Shirt?
- 51:32Speaker 2: Matt, well you AND i aren't.
- 51:35Speaker 8: Legends i'm.
- 51:36Speaker 4: Sorry, SHOOT i bought my grandson a sweat top WHILE
- 51:43Speaker 4: i was up, there and it just Has Minnesota vikings
- 51:46Speaker 4: because you know they.
- 51:47Speaker 2: They, yeah you know yet, anyway we don't. Know hopefully
- 51:52Speaker 2: maybe sooner or later we'll be to do. That there you.
- 51:54Speaker 4: Go but but, yeah the Whole, tommy the Whole Tommy kramer. Thing,
- 51:58Speaker 4: MAN i just think that it's you, know everywhere around the.
- 52:03Speaker 4: League i'm sure almost every team has someone or a
- 52:09Speaker 4: host of players who are in a very tough situation
- 52:14Speaker 4: and yet they some kind of, way grace Of, god
- 52:18Speaker 4: they find themselves back into a good.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Situation but it takes.
- 52:25Speaker 4: People who, care, absolutely it takes people who, care you,
- 52:30Speaker 4: know The. BECKERS i, MEAN i, mean when you got
- 52:33Speaker 4: a place to, stay a place to take a, bath
- 52:36Speaker 4: take a, shower eat all those kind of, things watch.
- 52:41Speaker 4: Games he's a huge, Gamer like he loves to watch football.
- 52:45Speaker 4: Games and so he's sitting there and eating and watching the.
- 52:51Speaker 4: Game and it's like and again the crazy, thing like
- 52:55Speaker 4: he doesn't say a word watching the. Game he doesn't,
- 52:57Speaker 4: critique he doesn't talk to. You he doesn't say, like
- 53:00Speaker 4: oh that was a bad. Play, yeah he says.
- 53:04Speaker 2: Nothing strong. Silence it's a strong.
- 53:08Speaker 4: Salent and he's getting a little bit better because he
- 53:11Speaker 4: smiles and he.
- 53:12Speaker 5: Laughs, no that was that this past weekend talking about
- 53:16Speaker 5: you were hanging out With, yes we got a chance
- 53:18Speaker 5: to hang.
- 53:18Speaker 4: Out and So i'm thinking long term like, this this
- 53:24Speaker 4: is really going TO i think gonna help him get

- 54:09Speaker 5: The Steelers. Packers my girlfriend AND i bought tickets. Today
- 54:14Speaker 5: we've we've planned. This we planned this trip for like.
- 54:17Speaker 5: Forever like we WENT i think it was about about
- 54:19Speaker 5: two years. Ago The packers went up there and they
- 54:21Speaker 5: lost to. This we went to that game as. Well
- 54:23Speaker 5: but we we saw this on the on THE nfl
- 54:25Speaker 5: schedule and we circled it like we were, Ready we're
- 54:28Speaker 5: ready to.
- 54:28Speaker 2: Roll so you actually have a friend it's A packer fan.
- 54:31Speaker 5: Too oh, no, no she's A steelers. Fan oh my, GOD
- 54:37Speaker 5: i knew he had to get that dig.
- 54:38Speaker 8: In Now i'm jealous Because i've never been to A packers, game.
- 54:42Speaker 5: Never not not even. Away, no, wow this one been
- 54:46Speaker 5: the perfect. Opportunity it's not a bad.
- 54:48Speaker 7: Drob i've been to SEVERAL nfl, games but yeahs.
- 54:52Speaker 5: Okay i've been To lambeau once and that was.
- 54:55Speaker 2: Cool that's. Different that's an.
- 54:56Speaker 5: Experience, yeah that's a whole. Thing but, yeah but you,
- 54:59Speaker 5: know it's kind of going to be cool because the
- 55:01Speaker 5: game is all about you, know the hype around. It
- 55:03Speaker 5: of course it's the only game you know On sunday. Night,
- 55:06Speaker 5: uh and also just the idea Of Jordan love And
- 55:10Speaker 5: Aaron rodgers playing each other because it's like the teacher
- 55:13Speaker 5: student kind of like vib.
- 55:16Speaker 2: And and and to that.
- 55:17Speaker 4: Point you know a lot of times you'd like to
- 55:20Speaker 4: think that the student comes out. BETTER i don't, know,
- 55:26Speaker 4: SEE i you, know.
- 55:28Speaker 2: You're my thought.
- 55:30Speaker 4: Process, okay If i'm being taught, something you, know Like i'm, Thinking,
- 55:34Speaker 4: OKAY i want to come out of this, thing AND
- 55:36Speaker 4: i want to be better than the guy who's teaching.
- 55:38Speaker 5: Me, sure you know there's that. Competition of, course as.
- 55:42Speaker 4: Much AS i appreciate, it you, KNOW i WANT i
- 55:45Speaker 4: want to BE i want to be better than.
- 55:47Speaker 5: Them, Yeah and.
- 55:52Speaker 2: So you don't think like that's gonna, WELL i.
- 55:54Speaker 5: MEAN i think. THAT i think the media has kind
- 55:56Speaker 5: of built up a lot of hype about this being
- 55:58Speaker 5: a revenge, game you, know like because you, know in twenty,
- 56:01Speaker 5: twenty whenever The packers Drafted Jordan, love you, Know Aaron
- 56:04Speaker 5: rodgers was not. HAPPY a lot of fans weren't. Happy
- 56:07Speaker 5: we thought he needed some you, know to drive that
- 56:08Speaker 5: the organization needed to draft some receivers to help him.
- 56:11Speaker 5: Out and, well now you, know but fast forward to
- 56:16Speaker 5: now to the present. Moment, yes that that was the
- 56:19Speaker 5: best thing that could have happened to The packer. Organization
- 56:21Speaker 5: but you, know it was just it was just strange
- 56:24Speaker 5: because you, know the media is trying to build up,
- 56:26Speaker 5: this you, know calling, it you, know a revenge game
- 56:28Speaker 5: and that you know it's going to, be you, know
- 56:32Speaker 5: a lot of animosity on the, field And Aaron rodgers
- 56:34Speaker 5: kind of came out, lately you, Know impress conferences with
- 56:37Speaker 5: him and, said you know, WHAT i don't have any
- 56:39Speaker 5: animosity toward this, Team like you, Know i'm good with.
- 56:42Speaker 5: It i'm happy to see some guys and you, know
- 56:45Speaker 5: it's not A it's not that way at. All SO
- 56:47Speaker 5: i don't, know we'll SEE i THINK i think what
- 56:49Speaker 5: they say and what they really feel is two different.
- 56:53Speaker 2: Things, yes, yes.
- 56:54Speaker 4: Okay so WHEN i went to The, saints fortunately or,
- 57:00Speaker 4: unfortunately we ended up playing The, vikings AND i want
- 57:04Speaker 4: to say it was a preseason game, actually and for,
- 57:09Speaker 4: me you, know everything in my, mind this is a.
- 57:13Speaker 4: Game and for everybody WHO i, cover Who i've covered
- 57:17Speaker 4: in one on ones in, Practice i'm gonna shut them.
- 57:20Speaker 4: Down that's you, Know it's just it's JUST i don't
- 57:24Speaker 4: think you can get cut from a, team and it
- 57:27Speaker 4: be okay especially and then play them and because you
- 57:31Speaker 4: already know everybody that that's gonna cover you or, yeah
- 57:36Speaker 4: whatever the case may, be whatever your position, is you
- 57:38Speaker 4: know who they, are you know how, good you know
- 57:40Speaker 4: their their, flaws you know all of, that so you're
- 57:43Speaker 4: gonna use every piece of that to get back at.
- 57:47Speaker 5: Them, WELL i, MEAN i, MEAN i think that's that's
- 57:49Speaker 5: a good. Point but you know that the defense is
- 57:52Speaker 5: ALSO i, MEAN i don't know how many of the.
- 57:53Speaker 5: PLAYERS i, MEAN i think we've still got quite a,
- 57:55Speaker 5: few but they're gonna kind of Know aaron's moves, too
- 57:58Speaker 5: so it goes both.
- 57:59Speaker 2: Ways but, right and, yes and and there's age there.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Too, YEAH i, MEAN i think it's gonna be a great.
- 58:08Speaker 5: Game i'm hoping it is, Anyway and.
- 58:11Speaker 2: To be, honest it really should.
- 58:12Speaker 4: WEAR i don't think it should be really a quarterback topic.
- 58:19Speaker 4: GAME i really don't think it should be because, again
- 58:22Speaker 4: you get, yeah, yeah AND i don't think that's really
- 58:27Speaker 4: that's really what's gonna win or lose.
- 58:29Speaker 5: It i'll Be i'll be WHEN i roll in Next
