- 4:26Speaker 2: And if you take it four weeks and then skip
- 4:29Speaker 2: two weeks because you can't get it, yeah, it kind
- 4:32Speaker 2: of puts you.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Right right right now. Yeah, you know. And I've heard
- 4:42Speaker 1: I've heard so many people just say the best way
- 4:46Speaker 1: to do it, it's just the old fashioned way of
- 4:50Speaker 1: just oh yeah, trying to eat right, yeah, and giving
- 4:54Speaker 1: a little pin of exercise.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, might exercise. Well, now, the doctors was very
- 5:07Speaker 2: Hey told me you know, the more the way you
- 5:09Speaker 2: can lose, the better you'll feeling. My knees are so
- 5:13Speaker 2: full oust the art right as I can barely walk.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I can't stand up from more than four minutes at

- 6:48Speaker 1: of the day, Halloween costume prices are they scaring you?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Was in a store yesterday and saw some of them,
- 6:58Speaker 1: and I was like, you got to be kidding me.
- 7:01Speaker 1: You've got to be kidding me. Lily is going to
- 7:06Speaker 1: be going as Harley Quinn and is so excited. But
- 7:11Speaker 1: these these Halloween costumes are insane right now. At the
- 7:14Speaker 1: prices of the not not only the Halloween costumes, but
- 7:17Speaker 1: also the candy, unbelievable. Now, you could trigger traders over
- 7:22Speaker 1: at your house.
- 7:22Speaker 2: But oh yeah, I usually get a two.
- 7:27Speaker 1: That's it.
- 7:28Speaker 2: I live up on Camp Street. Nobody wants to walk
- 7:30Speaker 2: up that hill. Yeah, yeah, two or three?

- 7:40Speaker 1: Yeahs you got Becky wibble on here of course, Stacy Holden,
- 7:45Speaker 1: Josh Howard, Hey, guys. Yeah, Shirley yeah, oh, she says,
- 7:52Speaker 1: A belated birthday to my son, which was the tenth
- 7:57Speaker 1: and the last time I had that. Shirley gave me
- 7:59Speaker 1: a bird. I think I screwed it up and totally
- 8:01Speaker 1: forgot about it. So at least we're getting that one
- 8:04Speaker 1: on this morning. Just give us his full name so
- 8:08Speaker 1: we can, you know, throw some love at him. Dude.
- 8:14Speaker 1: You I think I think were possibly the very first
- 8:26Speaker 1: Facebook follower of the aired OW podcast. I think you
- 8:30Speaker 1: were like one of the like top ten first people.
- 8:35Speaker 1: And I remember your name, and you have been.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Like pissing and moaning and complaining.
- 8:47Speaker 1: Well in addition to in addition to that, you have
- 8:52Speaker 1: been such a devoted follower in every single morning you
- 8:58Speaker 1: are locked on, dude. See, you're like one of the
- 9:01Speaker 1: first ones in with your comments. You're watching, you're listening.
- 9:05Speaker 1: There's also been a couple of times where I have
- 9:09Speaker 1: caused your your blood pressure to just just explode.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Yes, this is true, very true.
- 9:16Speaker 1: You've been worked up a few times.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Oh yes, there's a few few words that will trigger me.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Do you do you remember any of those specific shows. Hm,
- 9:31Speaker 1: they got you really worked up.
- 9:34Speaker 2: There's not so much the entire shows, but different segments
- 9:37Speaker 2: are when you start talking about certain people and my yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 2: I mean I my blood Yeah, if you say Donald Trump,
- 9:47Speaker 2: my blood pressure goes up.
- 9:49Speaker 1: I know. Sorry you and josh Is is reminding us
- 9:57Speaker 1: about the the guys of peace deal and the hostages
- 10:02Speaker 1: being freed. Man, this is buzzing hard right now. This
- 10:06Speaker 1: is a huge, huge, huge story. Humas released the last
- 10:13Speaker 1: twenty living Israeli hostages yesterday under that ceasefire deal that
- 10:21Speaker 1: thankfully has paused more than two years of war in Gaza.
- 10:26Speaker 1: October seventh, twenty twenty three. What a day that was.
- 10:31Speaker 1: We all remember the attacks. It was just what was
- 10:35Speaker 1: happening in the world was just insane and reverberated globally
- 10:41Speaker 1: within minutes, if not less.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Horrible, horrible event.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I was surprised to see actually how well the hostages
- 10:53Speaker 2: were looking. Yeah, I'm like, wow, they must have been
- 10:58Speaker 2: feeding them the last week or two.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think I think many were israel Than freed.
- 11:06Speaker 1: About two thousand Palestinian prisoners and detainees. This is all
- 11:13Speaker 1: part of the US backed twenty point piece plan that is.
- 11:20Speaker 1: I think I think it's uh, you know, not to
- 11:24Speaker 1: be a pessimist here, but I think it's a little
- 11:26Speaker 1: early to be celebrating too much. I think we just
- 11:30Speaker 1: need to take one thing out of that.
- 11:33Speaker 2: There's always been explosive exactly.
- 11:37Speaker 1: Exactly. I'm just looking here. This plan includes returning the
- 11:47Speaker 1: bodies of twenty eight dead hostages. AMAS released four bodies yesterday.
- 11:53Speaker 1: They say they don't know the location of some of
- 11:56Speaker 1: the bodies, and now we've got an international task force
- 12:00Speaker 1: that has been assigned to finding those.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Luck with that under all them bob buildings.
- 12:10Speaker 1: And I know, I don't know how that's possible, but
- 12:19Speaker 1: there's been some partial withdrawal from Gaza. I just think that,
- 12:27Speaker 1: you know, I see a lot of fists in the
- 12:30Speaker 1: air and a lot of celebration. I just think we
- 12:33Speaker 1: need to just relax here and.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Just definitely you know, I've seen a lot of them
- 12:40Speaker 2: are going back to wearing the black garb again on
- 12:44Speaker 2: the streets. They're not blending in with the with the population.
- 12:49Speaker 2: They're still yeah, they're still active.
- 12:52Speaker 1: There's there's a lot of stuff that's that's going on.
- 12:56Speaker 2: The one I saw this morning, I saw them lining
- 12:59Speaker 2: up people and shooting him in the back of the head.
- 13:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:03Speaker 2: No, I don't know if it was old footage or
- 13:05Speaker 2: present footage since the peace deal has gone through. Yeah,
- 13:10Speaker 2: but it was horrific.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I'm like, what, Yeah, now you're a veteran, Yes, Air Force.
- 13:17Speaker 2: Yep, seventies seventy two to Yeah, okay, I went in
- 13:24Speaker 2: in seventy two. I was seventeen years old. I didn't
- 13:27Speaker 2: want to miss the Vietnam War. Can you believe that? Man,
- 13:33Speaker 2: I was just a kid.
- 13:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I want to have excitement and adventure, and I thought
- 13:38Speaker 2: that's where I was going to find it.
- 13:40Speaker 1: That was that was a feeling for many, many, many
- 13:45Speaker 1: many people. Oh yeah, yeah, I've I don't want to
- 13:50Speaker 1: miss out. I want to get involved. I want to
- 13:52Speaker 1: I want to go with my other my other friends.
- 13:55Speaker 2: That's why I say. I drew up with John Wayne
- 13:59Speaker 2: as my hero, and that's what we did America furs,
- 14:05Speaker 2: go go, go join up, fight the bad guys. Yeah,
- 14:11Speaker 2: but you know that was my spit it out. My
- 14:18Speaker 2: mom and dad both worked extensively and they were older
- 14:22Speaker 2: than me, so I my babysitter was Uncle John Wayne Wow,
- 14:28Speaker 2: and then later in life Uncle Jack Daniel Daniels.
- 14:32Speaker 1: Yes, yes, but uh.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Yeah, so I didn't want to miss out and I
- 14:38Speaker 2: joined and it wasn't what I thought it was going
- 14:41Speaker 2: to be. And yeah, I got fucked up.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And I'm glad you're I'm glad you're home.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Well I am too. It's taking me a long time
- 14:50Speaker 2: to work through the ship that happened to me when
- 14:53Speaker 2: I was in there, though, and it still haunts me.
- 14:57Speaker 2: I mean, it's like I have a warehouse in the
- 14:59Speaker 2: back of my my brain. I call it my brain warehouse,
- 15:02Speaker 2: and I stick all that crap back there. Sometimes it
- 15:08Speaker 2: comes out and bites you in the ass.
- 15:09Speaker 1: You've heard Gee talk about his shelf. Yeah, yeah, that
- 15:15Speaker 1: he puts things. Same yeah, same thing for.
- 15:17Speaker 2: You, yep, same principle. Yeah, oh yeah. I've had a
- 15:21Speaker 2: lot of shit happened to me in my life.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I know you have. I know you have, and not
- 15:29Speaker 1: a whole hell of a lot of it has been
- 15:32Speaker 1: great stuff.
- 15:33Speaker 2: No, it's not I should write a book.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Well maybe you should.
- 15:38Speaker 2: I just don't. I probably should. I mean, from the
- 15:42Speaker 2: age of two, it's just been a traumatic.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Uh one one one thing after another.
- 15:50Speaker 2: One thing after another. Yeah, but I'm like, I don't
- 15:53Speaker 2: give up I don't want to give up. I want
- 15:56Speaker 2: to see how this movie ends.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Here's this is the exactly why I've got you on
- 16:02Speaker 1: the air this morning. A comment that we just got
- 16:05Speaker 1: from Mary. She says, Hi, Glenn, it's nice to learn
- 16:09Speaker 1: about other listeners. That's I love that. Yeah, me too,
- 16:14Speaker 1: I absolutely love that. I mean, you're someone who's locked
- 16:18Speaker 1: in here every single day and I've asked you in
- 16:21Speaker 1: the past. I'm like, dude, you need to come on
- 16:25Speaker 1: the podcast. No, no, god, no, I can't do that.
- 16:30Speaker 1: And here you are. Yes, indeed, and I'm really happy
- 16:35Speaker 1: about that. I'm really glad about that.
- 16:37Speaker 2: I don't know how much time I got left, so
- 16:38Speaker 2: I wanted him.
- 16:39Speaker 1: Dude, it's fantastic, man, And I want to talk about
- 16:43Speaker 1: your life. So you were just talking about age two
- 16:46Speaker 1: up has been in.
- 16:48Speaker 2: Yeah, my mom gave me away when I was two
- 16:50Speaker 2: years old. What who gives away their kids? Back in
- 16:59Speaker 2: the day, that was and you know nowadays it's different,
- 17:02Speaker 2: but back then.
- 17:02Speaker 1: It was like, Wow, where was this in Pennsylvaniennsylvania?
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yep, I lived in Johnstown or I grew up in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
- 17:15Speaker 1: Did you have did you have any any biological brothers
- 17:17Speaker 1: or sisters that were also given.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Well, I did have a brother and three sisters, uh well,
- 17:28Speaker 2: four sisters. I didn't know about one of them, but
- 17:30Speaker 2: I never really knew about them either until I was
- 17:34Speaker 2: in my teens. I was raised as an only child,
- 17:39Speaker 2: so by adoptive I was adopted by an aunt and
- 17:44Speaker 2: an uncle of ours would they They used to try
- 17:48Speaker 2: and keep it in the family back in the day.
- 17:51Speaker 2: So my aunt and my uncle adopted me, and uh yeah.
- 17:55Speaker 2: Then they moved to to uh yeah, New York, and
- 18:01Speaker 2: I lost contact with all my family, and so I
- 18:03Speaker 2: basically grew up alone, an only child in New York.
- 18:08Speaker 2: In New York with my parents working all the time. Okay,
- 18:12Speaker 2: I was like one of the original latch key kids.
- 18:16Speaker 1: And your parents once again, that was an aunt and
- 18:19Speaker 1: and uncle. Yes, okay, so they didn't keep you connected
- 18:27Speaker 1: to your biological family back in Pennsylvania.
- 18:30Speaker 2: No, Well, back in that time it was the sixties,
- 18:35Speaker 2: so you know, hard work back there. My dad worked
- 18:39Speaker 2: in the coal mine for twenty years where in well,
- 18:44Speaker 2: South Fork, which is right next to Johnstown, Pennsylvania. Okay,
- 18:48Speaker 2: he was a coal miner for twenty years.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Your biological dad, yes, got it?
- 18:53Speaker 2: That's where the story gets really odd. In any event,
- 18:58Speaker 2: he uh, yeah, he retired from the coal mines, and
- 19:02Speaker 2: then he got a job working in New York, which
- 19:06Speaker 2: paid much better. So he moved us to New York. Okay,
- 19:10Speaker 2: so we Yeah, that's but left everybody behind. So I
- 19:15Speaker 2: grew up with no cousins, and well I knew my cousins,
- 19:20Speaker 2: but I didn't have activities with them. I didn't. You know,
- 19:26Speaker 2: I know who they are, and I knew who they were.
- 19:28Speaker 1: No holidays, no memories.
- 19:30Speaker 2: No, not that stuff. We would go back once in
- 19:32Speaker 2: a while for when when I was really young, we
- 19:35Speaker 2: might go back to Grandma's for Christmas or Thanksgiving or something.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah, so your dad was technically your uncle.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Yeah he was. Well, put it this way. He was
- 19:48Speaker 2: my uncle, but he was technically my dad. Okay, it's
- 19:51Speaker 2: a long story. Yeah, yeah, no that you need another hour.
- 19:55Speaker 1: That's fascinating. So you're in New York and you have
- 20:01Speaker 1: created a whole network of different friends.
- 20:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, Yeah. I was a normal kid. I was
- 20:08Speaker 2: a happy little kid, cute as hell. Everybody loved me.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I graduated from high school.
- 20:15Speaker 2: I quit high school because I was seventeen and I
- 20:18Speaker 2: wanted to join the military.
- 20:20Speaker 1: You wanted to go to Vietnam.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Right, But when I was in the military, I got
- 20:25Speaker 2: my high school diploma from the State of Washington, d C.
- 20:28Speaker 1: All right.
- 20:29Speaker 2: They had a satellite campus on the base, so I did.
- 20:33Speaker 2: I graduated in seventy three. I have a regular high
- 20:36Speaker 2: school diploma, and then I went on to college on
- 20:39Speaker 2: the via.
- 20:40Speaker 1: Bill after Vietnam. Yes, okay, Kenny, Big Kenny, Yeah, he's
- 20:48Speaker 1: listening this morning. He says, holy shit, my father lived
- 20:52Speaker 1: in Johnstown. Remember the flood.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Oh hell, yes, I remember all three of them. Yeah,
- 21:00Speaker 2: my mom and dad got flooded out in the seven,
- 21:02Speaker 2: the one in the seventies. Yeah, I was I went
- 21:06Speaker 2: back to help with that.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And wow, you you met Big Kenny. Oh yeah, at
- 21:13Speaker 1: the up at the fight, the battle and Bury. Yeah,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and great Rex. Rex threatened me the other day saying
- 21:20Speaker 1: that I absolutely have to have you end Big Kenny
- 21:26Speaker 1: sharing that couch.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Oh sweet. So this is the war stories they could come.
- 21:31Speaker 1: This would be retired police officer, Oh yeah, versus retired outlaw. Right.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I love it. Yeah, but we're just people.
- 21:43Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not that amazing though. But when I'm not saying that,
- 21:47Speaker 1: you guys are old. But when I'm saying, when you
- 21:49Speaker 1: get up there.
- 21:50Speaker 2: Now I'm old?
- 21:52Speaker 1: How old are you?
- 21:53Speaker 2: Seventy?
- 21:53Speaker 1: All right? When you get up there, though, you look
- 21:56Speaker 1: back at life with a different.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Less incredibly different, a.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Whole different lens. Man. It's a different perspective.
- 22:05Speaker 2: You bet, oh man. The things I've done and seen
- 22:09Speaker 2: and seeing how the world is going now, it drives me.
- 22:15Speaker 2: I don't want to leave my house. Every time I
- 22:18Speaker 2: go out there, I get into some kind of altercation.
- 22:22Speaker 2: If it's driving down the road, somebody gives I just
- 22:26Speaker 2: people have become very unpleasant.
- 22:30Speaker 1: Are you a grumpy old man?
- 22:31Speaker 2: I am a grumpy I'm a curmudge and you are.
- 22:34Speaker 2: That's how grumpy I am. You ask anybody I know?
- 22:38Speaker 1: Really? Oh yeah, see I look at you as a
- 22:41Speaker 1: as a happy, happy, a happy guy.
- 22:45Speaker 2: But that's the side I really am.
- 22:47Speaker 1: That's the side that I that I know, I really am.
- 22:50Speaker 2: I just put out a persona. Now Facebook is all
- 22:53Speaker 2: bullshit anyway, So I'm like, Wow, I'm a ruppie man.
- 22:56Speaker 2: What's going on there? Poo poo on this poop?
- 23:00Speaker 1: He pat Patty's saying, what a good looking fellow on here?
- 23:04Speaker 2: Oh boy?
- 23:05Speaker 1: Finally, so you were you were a police officer? Yep, yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 1: just outside of New York City.
- 23:15Speaker 2: Yep, twenty miles north.
- 23:18Speaker 1: Damn fella.
- 23:19Speaker 2: Yeah, Piermont, Piermont, New York. It was Yeah, it was fun.
- 23:24Speaker 1: What was that? How long were you a police officer for?
- 23:28Speaker 2: Let's see, eight years? Eight years? I got hurt on
- 23:33Speaker 2: the job.
- 23:34Speaker 1: What happened? Did you get shot?
- 23:37Speaker 2: No? Everybody that would be glamorous. Now I didn't get shot, dudes, Hey,
- 23:42Speaker 2: you're what I fucked up my back?
- 23:44Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 23:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I got involved in a in a car accident
- 23:48Speaker 2: in pursuit and wow. Yeah, but we had a small department,
- 23:54Speaker 2: so I was going to be laid up for like
- 23:56Speaker 2: six months and they just couldn't maintain that. Plus I
- 24:01Speaker 2: would have been up with the way my back was,
- 24:04Speaker 2: I couldn't lift anything right, so I would have been
- 24:06Speaker 2: a liability. Really what was his eighties in the I
- 24:10Speaker 2: retired in nineteen ninety Okay, yeah, I got into the
- 24:14Speaker 2: police department when after I got out of the military.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Was there anything going on in the eighties that is
- 24:21Speaker 1: still going on today? Smuggling?
- 24:26Speaker 2: Oh? Yeah?
- 24:27Speaker 1: What was the what was the drug activity? Like? What
- 24:30Speaker 1: did you see twenty back miles out of New York City.
- 24:34Speaker 1: Were there any arteries coming?
- 24:36Speaker 2: There was a main artery coming right up past my
- 24:39Speaker 2: little village, but it was not a predominantly It was
- 24:44Speaker 2: not like the Interstate the old nine. W Okay, it
- 24:49Speaker 2: goes all the way down the Hudson side of the
- 24:51Speaker 2: Hudson River, all the way down into Jersey and and yeah, man,
- 24:56Speaker 2: so they would use that come and pass all these
- 25:01Speaker 2: po dunk towns with the Barney Fife police officers. Yes,
- 25:09Speaker 2: but we weren't. And we had gone through extensive training
- 25:13Speaker 2: at the Police Academy and New York. We trained with
- 25:16Speaker 2: New York City Police, and in fact I went to
- 25:20Speaker 2: the FBI Firearms Instructors School and trained with them for
- 25:25Speaker 2: a while. So we were not bumpkins. And when they
- 25:29Speaker 2: would come up and get busted, the shock on their face,
- 25:37Speaker 2: I loved it. Huh.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I'm sure the thought was if we can get into
- 25:43Speaker 1: the thick of the populace, will be okay. But you
- 25:48Speaker 1: guys were protecting the perimeter of New York City.
- 25:51Speaker 2: And absolutely we were like the cutoff guys, Like, what's
- 25:56Speaker 2: going on now? We need some cutoff guys down on
- 25:59Speaker 2: New Hampshire cutting them off from getting into Vermont.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Wow, it's not just New Hampshire, dude. Well in Massachusetts they.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Got their coming out of Massachusetts and Connecticut and yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 2: stop them somewhere.
- 26:14Speaker 1: Yeah, No, Syracuse, Oh, it's terrible. Springfield, mass of course, Boston.
- 26:21Speaker 2: It wasn't as bad. I mean, I maybe I'm gonna
- 26:24Speaker 2: be said to be wrong, but I don't think it
- 26:26Speaker 2: was as bad back in my day because we didn't,
- 26:30Speaker 2: I mean we would. We dealt with pot, heroin and cocaine, okay,
- 26:35Speaker 2: and then you know, like Kway ludes came along, but
- 26:40Speaker 2: mainly pot, heroin and cocaine. Nowadays they got all kinds
- 26:44Speaker 2: of this weird shit coming up. You get your faint
- 26:46Speaker 2: gnel in it, and I forget there's some other something
- 26:50Speaker 2: that starts with a D and I wouldn't touch that ship.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Nowadays you don't know what is in it. Yeah, absolutely not.
- 27:00Speaker 2: No wonder everybody's overdosing.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Do you make some big drug bus when you were a.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Cup No big ones, little bitty ones. You know, people
- 27:10Speaker 2: in their cars with the I don't know, an eight
- 27:14Speaker 2: ball or a half an ounce of weed or the
- 27:20Speaker 2: big that's the regular people that we were pulling over
- 27:26Speaker 2: on a daily basis. Every once in a while, you'd
- 27:28Speaker 2: get a truck coming through and exactly that's what we
- 27:31Speaker 2: would do. We would stop them and there would be
- 27:34Speaker 2: you know, there would be a couple of pounds in
- 27:35Speaker 2: the bay. And back then it's different. Again, it was
- 27:38Speaker 2: a couple pounds could make a lot of money. And
- 27:43Speaker 2: nowadays they send it were hundreds and pounds, so it
- 27:48Speaker 2: is different. It was a different world. But the eighties,
- 27:51Speaker 2: that's when them guys in Miami were making their big bugs.
- 27:55Speaker 2: You know, it was your little friend.
- 27:59Speaker 1: It was Miami and the straight line to New York
- 28:04Speaker 1: City from Miami and Chicago, and.
- 28:06Speaker 2: They would come out of there and come up and
- 28:08Speaker 2: try and spread their crap at but we put the
- 28:14Speaker 2: hammer down.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Did you did you ever dapple in any substances other
- 28:21Speaker 1: than Jack Daniels? Oh yeah, really, Oh.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Yeah, I told you. I was born in the fifties,
- 28:28Speaker 2: I raised in the sixties.
- 28:30Speaker 1: What'd you do?
- 28:31Speaker 2: I smoked a lot of weed in my lifetime. I'm
- 28:35Speaker 2: not going to deny it. Yeah, I'm seventy. I don't
- 28:38Speaker 2: give a fuck. It's legal in Vermont. I'm like happy.
- 28:46Speaker 1: What have you done anything other than pop?
- 28:49Speaker 2: Yeah? I used to well, it was the eighties, and
- 28:51Speaker 2: before I became a cop, I was a normal twenty
- 28:57Speaker 2: year old having fun. And yeah I snorted coke O kuayludes.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I fucking love kuayludes. Bad boy, bad boy. But yeah,
- 29:21Speaker 2: I you know, I got a I got married, I
- 29:24Speaker 2: we had kids. I calmed down. I realized, you know,
- 29:28Speaker 2: I need a real job. So then I got a job.
- 29:31Speaker 2: As I worked a lot in between jobs until I
- 29:35Speaker 2: got to the cop job, and they were all I
- 29:38Speaker 2: call them bull job bullwark jobs. Yeah, I busted my
- 29:42Speaker 2: body up so bad.
- 29:43Speaker 1: What you do.
- 29:45Speaker 2: I worked on a moving truck for two years, uh,
- 29:50Speaker 2: lifting baby grand pianos up five flights of stairs. And
- 29:56Speaker 2: and then I worked at Glenshaw Glass make glass bottles
- 30:01Speaker 2: back in the day when we made real glass bottles.
- 30:04Speaker 2: Where was this That was in Orangeburg, New York, Okay.
- 30:08Speaker 2: And it was a dangerous job. I got hazardous duty pay.
- 30:14Speaker 2: It was one of the most well paid jobs in
- 30:16Speaker 2: the county because you were working with molten glass.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Yeah right.
- 30:20Speaker 2: The glass was thirty two hundred degrees and it would
- 30:24Speaker 2: come down a shoot in a drop into an arm
- 30:29Speaker 2: and then an air a device would top on top
- 30:33Speaker 2: of it and blow the bottle into a mold and
- 30:37Speaker 2: then when the bottle was molded, it would open up
- 30:42Speaker 2: be extracted. But you had to take a huge Q
- 30:47Speaker 2: tip cotton swab like thing and dipping in sulfur quickly
- 30:51Speaker 2: and then quickly swab the inside of the blanks before
- 30:56Speaker 2: they shot more stuff and closed, and people have got
- 31:01Speaker 2: their hands and caught in the air and lost fingers
- 31:04Speaker 2: because when it closes it's thirty two hundred degrees. You
- 31:08Speaker 2: don't have to worry about going to the hospital.
- 31:11Speaker 1: You just lose a limb.
- 31:12Speaker 2: You just it's not it's you lose that and it's charterized,
- 31:18Speaker 2: so shit, dude. Yeah, and that lasted for a while.
- 31:23Speaker 2: But I think I got an ulcer from that job.
- 31:27Speaker 2: And then I got burned really bad on.
- 31:29Speaker 1: My foot from that job.
- 31:31Speaker 2: Oh yeah, one of the lines broke and I had
- 31:34Speaker 2: like fifty two liters hot bottles land on my feet
- 31:39Speaker 2: and I was trying to sweep them and break them up.
- 31:41Speaker 2: That's how you got rid of them. But I didn't
- 31:43Speaker 2: realize my boots were full of oil and the hot
- 31:48Speaker 2: glass was heating the oil, and it just seeped into
- 31:52Speaker 2: my toes and burnt all my toes.
- 31:55Speaker 1: What did you say? When that happened out, shit, dude.
- 32:01Speaker 2: Now what I said was, honey, I think this job
- 32:05Speaker 2: has come to an end.
- 32:06Speaker 1: What'd you do after that?
- 32:09Speaker 2: That's all? That's right. Then I went to work for Reya.
- 32:12Speaker 2: It was called Ford Products, no affiliation to the car manufacturer.
- 32:18Speaker 2: They made hot water heaters and furnaces and woodstoves. They
- 32:23Speaker 2: had a big factory down there, and I ended up
- 32:28Speaker 2: being the supervisor for the warehouse and the shipping department,
- 32:34Speaker 2: and then it elit led to I was running the
- 32:38Speaker 2: whole shipping and receiving department.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Okay, then what well?
- 32:43Speaker 2: I worked there for two years and I figured, you know,
- 32:48Speaker 2: that was the way I did things. I would work
- 32:52Speaker 2: at a place for two years and if I saw advancement,
- 32:54Speaker 2: I'd stick it out. If I didn't see I was
- 32:57Speaker 2: going to move up or advance, there was no points
- 33:00Speaker 2: in there any longer. I had learned enough to move on,
- 33:03Speaker 2: and I would usually do that. And then one day
- 33:06Speaker 2: my wife said to me, you know, you really what
- 33:10Speaker 2: go for being a cop? Be a cop? You wanted
- 33:12Speaker 2: to be a cop. You always want to be a cop.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Be a cop. And I'm like, yeah, you know what, Yes,
- 33:18Speaker 2: I will. I'm going to do that. So I took
- 33:20Speaker 2: all the tests and you had to score like ninety
- 33:24Speaker 2: nine or one hundred on a test. And I took
- 33:28Speaker 2: two different tests. First one, I had a ninety nine,
- 33:31Speaker 2: but there were people that more, people that had the hundreds.
- 33:36Speaker 2: And they only have so many positions, you know, It's
- 33:39Speaker 2: not like right up here, right now down there, there
- 33:43Speaker 2: were ten thousand applicants for one job. So but I
- 33:48Speaker 2: got in. I looked at I got in. I almost
- 33:50Speaker 2: made it to the state troopers for the Olympics when
- 33:54Speaker 2: he had the Olympics over in Lake Placid. I applied
- 33:57Speaker 2: for that, and I went through all the training and
- 33:59Speaker 2: all the tests, and I was right there that I
- 34:02Speaker 2: had the job, and then affirmative Action took over and
- 34:07Speaker 2: they gave my job to a woman. I'll say it,
- 34:14Speaker 2: but that's okay. I was like, oh, yeah, it was
- 34:19Speaker 2: pretty upsetting. But then you said then I said, I'm
- 34:24Speaker 2: just going to go local to help with this, help
- 34:27Speaker 2: my people in my community. All right, I'll serve my community.
- 34:31Speaker 1: But then you said I'm done with this whole police thing,
- 34:34Speaker 1: and I'm done.
- 34:36Speaker 2: Well, once I got hurt, yeah, I.
- 34:39Speaker 1: Had been.
- 34:40Speaker 2: Yeah that was in ninety so I stuck around down
- 34:44Speaker 2: in New York for another six years and raised my kids.
- 34:48Speaker 2: They were going to Catholic school. We really didn't want
- 34:51Speaker 2: to move them out of that. And eventually my son
- 34:56Speaker 2: had been walking down the street in our town and
- 35:01Speaker 2: they have what they called Bodega's down there, and he
- 35:05Speaker 2: walked by and it was practically in the middle of
- 35:09Speaker 2: a drive by shooting. So when he got home and
- 35:13Speaker 2: he told us all about that, I looked at my
- 35:16Speaker 2: wife Kathy, and I said, that's it. We're done, We're
- 35:18Speaker 2: out of here. We gotta find what did you do?
- 35:21Speaker 1: Did you throw a dart at the map? Or like?
- 35:24Speaker 1: What what brought you to? You went to Vermont?
- 35:27Speaker 2: I love this what brought me to Vermont. We got
- 35:31Speaker 2: up one morning and I said to the kid. Kathy
- 35:34Speaker 2: and I looked at each other and said, it's vacation time.
- 35:36Speaker 2: Let's go. And I'm like, yeah, okay, let's fuck with
- 35:39Speaker 2: the kids a little bit. So I said, hey, we're
- 35:42Speaker 2: going to We're gonna go get some lobster. So we
- 35:45Speaker 2: all hopped into the suburban. And I had a big,
- 35:47Speaker 2: old ninety suburban, huge boat, and we all piled in.
- 35:51Speaker 2: I had four kids and we piled in and headed
- 35:54Speaker 2: for Maine. So we got to May and they kids
- 35:58Speaker 2: were hemming and han. We didn't bring any luggage or anything.
- 36:01Speaker 2: We just we're going out for dinner. So we got
- 36:04Speaker 2: the main and we had you know, we had dinner,
- 36:06Speaker 2: and then we kept We got up to Freeport and
- 36:09Speaker 2: we stayed the night. Then we went up to Wakadia
- 36:12Speaker 2: and stayed at bar in bar Harbor and they had
- 36:16Speaker 2: just opened Walmart, so we bought everything we needed at
- 36:19Speaker 2: Walmart in the up in Maine in Ellsworth, Ellsworth, Yeah,
- 36:24Speaker 2: and then from there, you know, we did a little vacationing.
- 36:27Speaker 2: But then from there we headed west and we came
- 36:31Speaker 2: through the rest of Maine. We stopped in Millan. A
- 36:34Speaker 2: whole way along we were checking real estate agents and uh,
- 36:39Speaker 2: the kids were like, what are you doing? And I was,
- 36:41Speaker 2: I don't worry about So we checked for what might
- 36:44Speaker 2: be available in any state. We went through New Maine
- 36:47Speaker 2: and then we got into New Hampshire. We checked out
- 36:50Speaker 2: New Hampshire and Lincoln and this and that, and then
- 36:54Speaker 2: we ended up coming through Barry just as it was dark,
- 36:59Speaker 2: and so I like, why don't see any motels or hotels?
- 37:03Speaker 2: But I was beat. I said, we gotta stop. So
- 37:08Speaker 2: we made it to Montpelier and they said it said
- 37:12Speaker 2: that there was a econnor watch up the hill there,
- 37:16Speaker 2: that one's like in the wall.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Said.
- 37:19Speaker 2: I'm like, I don't care where it is. We are stopping.
- 37:23Speaker 2: So we stopped there for the night and we had
- 37:28Speaker 2: a good night. It was dark. We couldn't see shit.
- 37:32Speaker 2: When we woke up in the morning, I walked out
- 37:34Speaker 2: on the balcony and I was like, oh my god, Katy, Kathy,
- 37:42Speaker 2: this is it. We found it. So we went down
- 37:46Speaker 2: to Century twenty one talk to the gentleman by the
- 37:51Speaker 2: name of Mike Rossi and what an energetic guy. And
- 37:59Speaker 2: he showed us a couple of places in the book
- 38:04Speaker 2: and Kathy liked them. I liked some. I really liked
- 38:08Speaker 2: the area. We drove around a little bit and it
- 38:11Speaker 2: reminds me so much of Pennsylvania. And Kathy would never
- 38:15Speaker 2: move to Pennsylvania, but she would move here. And I
- 38:20Speaker 2: was fine with that. This is much like Pennsylvania. I'll
- 38:22Speaker 2: take it. So we went home, or no, we kept
- 38:27Speaker 2: going to can We went over to New York, same stuff,
- 38:31Speaker 2: and the kids were carrying on by now they were
- 38:33Speaker 2: going crazy. Yeah, as you keep it up, We're going north.
- 38:38Speaker 1: Well, at least they weren't in a ford escort.
- 38:41Speaker 2: No. When we got to Plattsburgh we headed north, They're like, no,
- 38:47Speaker 2: and we're going for Canada. Now, I said, we're I'm
- 38:50Speaker 2: taking We're going to check Canada. So we drove up
- 38:54Speaker 2: there and we got to the border and the guys
- 38:57Speaker 2: are like, coming into Canada, what's your purpose? I said,
- 39:00Speaker 2: I just want to say I've been here. And they
- 39:04Speaker 2: don't have much humor at the border. No, No, still dull.
- 39:08Speaker 2: So he's like, Okay, go ahead. So I walked and
- 39:12Speaker 2: went up the road about half a mile, turn around,
- 39:14Speaker 2: and came back down and the kids had calmed down
- 39:17Speaker 2: considerably by that point.
- 39:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, they were scared.
- 39:20Speaker 2: They didn't want to live in Canada ex and so
- 39:23Speaker 2: we had it on home. And then a week later, I,
- 39:27Speaker 2: my wife and I came back up and checked out
- 39:30Speaker 2: a couple of properties with Mike, and of course she
- 39:33Speaker 2: fell in love with a nice one up on Camp Street.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Karan Barritt.
- 39:37Speaker 2: I wanted the old farmhouse out in the middle of Marshfield,
- 39:42Speaker 2: somewhere with twenty acres, but as soon as Mike showed
- 39:48Speaker 2: me that, I knew it was done.
- 39:51Speaker 1: And that was right around what year ninety six? Oh,
- 39:55Speaker 1: you know exactly when that was.
- 39:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I've been here thirty years, almost thirty years, maybe
- 40:00Speaker 2: thirty years next month. And you lost Kathy, Yeah I did.
- 40:08Speaker 1: When was that?
- 40:09Speaker 2: Well? That well, that was six sixteen years ago. Okay, yeah,
- 40:15Speaker 2: we well, yeah I might as well. When we lost
- 40:20Speaker 2: our daughter when she was sixteen. Uh, and we'd only
- 40:24Speaker 2: been here two years at the time. When we got here,
- 40:27Speaker 2: I thought I died and gone to heaven. I swear
- 40:31Speaker 2: I'd never been so happy in my life. People were friendly.
- 40:34Speaker 2: They wait, I didn't even know anybody, and they're waving
- 40:37Speaker 2: at you, and they let you across the road and
- 40:40Speaker 2: so where dom I I don't know. They give you information,
- 40:43Speaker 2: let me help you, let me help you. It's a
- 40:45Speaker 2: little different now, but I couldn't believe it. It was heaven.
- 40:51Speaker 2: And then two years into it, there was a terrible
- 40:54Speaker 2: accident and Heather got my daughter, Heather got killed in
- 40:59Speaker 2: the accident. She was sixteen, and to say the least,
- 41:04Speaker 2: it destroyed my family. It devastated me. I actually felt
- 41:14Speaker 2: a snap in my brain when they told me up
- 41:17Speaker 2: at the hospital that she had passed, and I well,
- 41:25Speaker 2: Kathy broke down and she was just whiling. And I
- 41:30Speaker 2: broke down and I was whiling, and I couldn't function.
- 41:34Speaker 2: I I they had to sit me down because I
- 41:37Speaker 2: just and I felt this snap in my brain and
- 41:43Speaker 2: I swear to God, I don't know what it was,
- 41:45Speaker 2: but things have never been the same since. So, yeah,
- 41:50Speaker 2: it was a tough time. And then what year was
- 41:53Speaker 2: that about in ninety eight? That was ninety nine. Yeah,
- 41:57Speaker 2: she died two weeks after birthday.
- 42:00Speaker 1: And that was the car accident read up here by
- 42:03Speaker 1: Stones Yes, Yes, of Washington.
- 42:05Speaker 2: Yeah, tractor Traylor hit a van full of kids and
- 42:10Speaker 2: there were two died from the accident. Poor Linda Mercy,
- 42:15Speaker 2: she lost her son, and yeah, many of the boys
- 42:20Speaker 2: were physically hurt severely. I kind of lost touch with
- 42:26Speaker 2: everybody since then. But it's been twenty six years since
- 42:30Speaker 2: the accident. And ten years after the accident, Kathy contracted cancer.
- 42:39Speaker 2: She got melanoma, and I don't exactly know what happened,
- 42:46Speaker 2: but we ended up she divorced me. It's when you
- 42:53Speaker 2: lose a child, your marriage really takes that hit. And
- 42:58Speaker 2: we tried and tried, but she dove into the church.
- 43:03Speaker 2: She went uber Catholic and I was just I was
- 43:09Speaker 2: just messed up. I didn't go uber anything any If
- 43:12Speaker 2: I went Uber anything, it was uber crazy and it yeah,
- 43:17Speaker 2: we just it broke us up. So she divorced me.
- 43:22Speaker 2: I didn't want it. I always loved her and I
- 43:26Speaker 2: will always love her. And then the Catholic Church and
- 43:30Speaker 2: knowlled the marriage and I was like, we've been married
- 43:34Speaker 2: thirty years. Who knows that? But they did in their
- 43:39Speaker 2: infinite wisdom. And then that was the day I told them,
- 43:43Speaker 2: you know, God that I will no longer be practicing
- 43:47Speaker 2: any organized religions, but if you're still here for me, goody.
- 43:53Speaker 2: So yeah, I had a real heart on for the
- 43:56Speaker 2: Catholic Church. Still do. Sorry, I don't know how to give,
- 44:02Speaker 2: and I'm definitely having forgiven the kid that was driving
- 44:05Speaker 2: the van when it happened. I can't do it. Sorry,
- 44:10Speaker 2: not sorry. Did I did I lose the point?
- 44:16Speaker 1: No? Not not at all. Now I'm just I'm just
- 44:19Speaker 1: absorbing every everything that you're you're saying, Yeah, Ben, that's listen.
- 44:28Speaker 1: I think there's a good number of people who can
- 44:35Speaker 1: empathize and try try to imagine being in your shoes
- 44:43Speaker 1: and and going through what you went through. I can't
- 44:47Speaker 1: imagine going through a quarter of that myself.
- 44:52Speaker 2: It's been horrible, and I I just I don't know
- 44:56Speaker 2: why I just keep hanging on. It's not like I
- 44:59Speaker 2: haven't thought about not being here on occasion. I just
- 45:04Speaker 2: I don't know. That was raised. My parents were really
- 45:07Speaker 2: good parents, and they were really old. They were born
- 45:11Speaker 2: in nineteen ten, in nineteen eleven, so yeah, my grandmother, yes,
- 45:17Speaker 2: my grandmother was alive door in the Civil War, and
- 45:21Speaker 2: so my parents and my parents were alive doing My
- 45:24Speaker 2: mom was a flapper in the twenties, and they lived
- 45:29Speaker 2: through World War Two and the Korean War and.
- 45:35Speaker 1: All of them.
- 45:35Speaker 2: So they were old, and they came from that greatest
- 45:40Speaker 2: generation and they.
- 45:43Speaker 1: It's a different kind of skin. Man.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Oh man. They taught me so well, and yeah, yeah,
- 45:51Speaker 2: I fall back on a lot of what they taught
- 45:53Speaker 2: me all the time. Don't give I just don't give up.
- 45:56Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know what much worse could happen. Well,
- 46:00Speaker 2: I don't want to speculate, but I've been through a
- 46:03Speaker 2: lot of shit, and it's a lot of bad shit.
- 46:05Speaker 2: And I don't mean, how much worse can he get?
- 46:07Speaker 2: I mean, I don't worry about shit happening to me
- 46:10Speaker 2: because I've already gone through the worst thing in the
- 46:13Speaker 2: world that can happen to somebody. Yes you have, so
- 46:17Speaker 2: everything else is like, yes.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Yes, you very much have, and I'm still here. You
- 46:27Speaker 1: have one son.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I have two sons and one more daughter okay, and
- 46:33Speaker 2: nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
- 46:36Speaker 1: Damn fella.
- 46:37Speaker 2: Yeah. I taught him how to do something right.
- 46:39Speaker 1: And you're am I getting this right. You're one boy
- 46:44Speaker 1: really enjoys going to the battle and bury with you
- 46:48Speaker 1: at the auditorium.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Well, I'm not sure how much he enjoys going to
- 46:52Speaker 2: it with me, but he goes with me, I think
- 46:54Speaker 2: secretly he does.
- 46:55Speaker 1: And what's his name again? That's justin Okay, and I've
- 46:59Speaker 1: met him up at the battle in there.
- 47:02Speaker 2: He works over a capital city, GMC.
- 47:05Speaker 1: Okay. Your other boy, wh.
- 47:09Speaker 2: He lives over in Goddard College in the in the
- 47:14Speaker 2: apartments up there, yep.
- 47:15Speaker 1: And your other daughter, she lives.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Down in Virginia Beach.
- 47:19Speaker 1: Okay. Do you ever go down there.
- 47:22Speaker 2: That's a long ride. Now. I used to go down regular,
- 47:25Speaker 2: but it's a long ride and I can't get on
- 47:28Speaker 2: an airplane because they don't make seats big.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Enough we we've chatted before. You've told me that your
- 47:39Speaker 1: favorite presenting sponsors here at aired out are Granite City
- 47:46Speaker 1: m m A yeah, and Donnybrook Donnyburg Fight Promotions. Yeah.
- 47:52Speaker 1: You I like Tatros too, Tatro's appliance man, of course,
- 47:58Speaker 1: Mark Tetrow.
- 47:59Speaker 2: I mean we were not like that.
- 48:01Speaker 1: I know, I believe me. I know love in the
- 48:04Speaker 1: pieces you you're Are you hermit? Are you a homebody?
- 48:11Speaker 1: Are you a recluse? You don't get out much? Now?
- 48:17Speaker 2: I think I like the toy with the name hermit hermit,
- 48:22Speaker 2: but I think more unreclusive.
- 48:25Speaker 1: Okay, I just I don't.
- 48:27Speaker 2: My friends are almost all gone rest in peace, and
- 48:33Speaker 2: the ones that are around or you know, sickly and.
- 48:38Speaker 1: So as a as a veteran. Let me let me
- 48:41Speaker 1: just put a little bit of pressure on you. Have
- 48:46Speaker 1: you thought about getting involved with becoming a member of
- 48:52Speaker 1: the American Legion Post ten or the VFW Post seven
- 48:56Speaker 1: ninety down the road?
- 48:59Speaker 2: I have thought it, do you know, Ron Tolman, I
- 49:02Speaker 2: don't not personally.
- 49:05Speaker 1: You know, there's some really damn good people that are
- 49:09Speaker 1: part of the leaching in the VFW. Yeah, really wholesome
- 49:16Speaker 1: good people. I'm talking good through the bone.
- 49:19Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I see that. You know. Obviously I watch
- 49:23Speaker 2: all the time. I see all that.
- 49:26Speaker 1: Yeah, it's I.
- 49:27Speaker 2: I don't know. It's kind of hard to explain. I've
- 49:31Speaker 2: never been a real joiner for big clubs.
- 49:34Speaker 1: Stand I understand that.
- 49:37Speaker 2: I was like, I don't want to be a member
- 49:40Speaker 2: of a club that wants.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Me, but.
- 49:46Speaker 2: They I don't know. I just I used to be. Well, yeah,
- 49:51Speaker 2: I joined when I got out of the military, and
- 49:54Speaker 2: while I was a police officer, I joined the Vietnam
- 49:57Speaker 2: Veterans of America. Okay, so siation and I worked on
- 50:01Speaker 2: I was on the board for a while and yeah,
- 50:05Speaker 2: but then I moved up here, and there's no local
- 50:08Speaker 2: chapters of that anywhere, the American legion. I never joined
- 50:14Speaker 2: the VFW. I tried to join back in the day,
- 50:18Speaker 2: but there was a time there when they weren't real
- 50:22Speaker 2: open to non combat Vietnam veterans. Yeah, but that's changed.
- 50:32Speaker 2: So yeah, it's but it has nothing to do with
- 50:34Speaker 2: the organization so much. I just have a lot, I
- 50:37Speaker 2: really do. I have a lot of anxiety issues and
- 50:41Speaker 2: PTSD for close rooms with a lot of people, can yeah,
- 50:48Speaker 2: send me somewhere. I don't like going. Yeah, yeah, but
- 50:53Speaker 2: that's all good organizations.
- 50:55Speaker 1: Yeah, man, listen, let me say this because it's on
- 51:00Speaker 1: my mind. If there's anything that I can do or
- 51:04Speaker 1: anyone speaking on behalf of our listeners that are tuned
- 51:08Speaker 1: in right now, that anyone can do here that aired
- 51:15Speaker 1: out as a family, for you to extend a hand
- 51:22Speaker 1: or a lunch or a coffee or you know, like
- 51:28Speaker 1: every Wednesday, Donna Thunder's down there. Well she's not at
- 51:32Speaker 1: the VFW rocking out every Wednesday, but every Wednesday they
- 51:38Speaker 1: do wing Wednesday. Yeah, and then they bring Donna Thunder
- 51:42Speaker 1: in every now and then and she just tears the
- 51:45Speaker 1: place to shreds.
- 51:48Speaker 2: We should go there, we should. I don't mind. See
- 51:50Speaker 2: here's the thing. I don't mind doing things, and I
- 51:53Speaker 2: will participate in things. I just don't like. I don't
- 51:57Speaker 2: like going by myself. Okay, So I need somebody to
- 52:01Speaker 2: literally take me somewhere.
- 52:02Speaker 1: And you know Rex Rex Thompson is a veteran Yeah.
- 52:06Speaker 2: Oh yeah, the other day. All right, Yeah, I just
- 52:12Speaker 2: saw him on Sunday.
- 52:13Speaker 1: We should try to God, we all need we all
- 52:18Speaker 1: need this, man, we all need this. We need to
- 52:23Speaker 1: get out of the house, especially during the winter. You know,
- 52:26Speaker 1: during the summer, it's the opposite. It's it's not the opposite,
- 52:30Speaker 1: it's it's overwhelming because we got too much going on.
- 52:34Speaker 1: But during during the winter, man, it's like, if you
- 52:39Speaker 1: ever find some opportunities to do something and you're looking
- 52:43Speaker 1: for someone to go with, there's a whole list of
- 52:46Speaker 1: people right here that are watching and listening right now
- 52:49Speaker 1: that are that are like, hell, yeah, let's go, Glenn.
- 52:52Speaker 1: I'll pick you up. And I'm one of them.
- 52:56Speaker 2: Dude, good, you know that's just great.
- 52:59Speaker 1: You when I went down to that car show one time,
- 53:01Speaker 1: but we should do that again.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Dude, bomb up for it. I'm sure. Oh I do
- 53:07Speaker 2: old cars, man, Wow, I do. I like old cars
- 53:13Speaker 2: and guns.
- 53:14Speaker 1: And your gun guy.
- 53:17Speaker 2: Yes, I am good for you. I haven't no doubt
- 53:21Speaker 2: about it. I'm a certified FB I'm.
- 53:24Speaker 1: Sorry, instructor, so you know how to shoot?
- 53:26Speaker 2: I do, Yes, I do.
- 53:32Speaker 1: I want to. I want to ask you about the
- 53:40Speaker 1: old days of just this area since the nineties. You've
- 53:49Speaker 1: been here for thirty years. What do you miss? What
- 53:57Speaker 1: do you miss from here? From from here?
- 54:01Speaker 2: I miss h Well, first of all, I missed the
- 54:04Speaker 2: incredibly friendly atmosphere we used to have people were happy
- 54:08Speaker 2: and they talked to each other. There wasn't all the
- 54:12Speaker 2: arguing and fighting. And uh, it seemed more of a
- 54:17Speaker 2: wee atmosphere than a me atmosphere. And yeah, the stores,
- 54:24Speaker 2: it used to be so vibrant and active around here.
- 54:29Speaker 2: Some of the restaurants, the uh, what was that one
- 54:33Speaker 2: down there? Used to be friend well it was Friendlies,
- 54:35Speaker 2: but before it was Friendlies. It was kind of like
- 54:38Speaker 2: that fifties diner kind of I loved that. Yeah, it's
- 54:43Speaker 2: the lobster. We had that lobster place down there. Yeah,
- 54:47Speaker 2: it's that steakhouse. Oh my goodness, why would they get
- 54:50Speaker 2: rid of a steak house?
- 54:51Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, yeah?
- 54:53Speaker 2: And and what have we put in their places? Not
- 54:55Speaker 2: a whole lot. And the buildings around here seemed they've
- 55:01Speaker 2: they certainly have shown their wear in thirty years. But yeah,
- 55:08Speaker 2: I missed stuff like that Nelson's. I love Nelson's, though
- 55:11Speaker 2: they've expanded and you get whatever you want in there.
- 55:16Speaker 1: What was your favorite restaurant?
- 55:20Speaker 2: Let me think, what was that one?
- 55:24Speaker 1: I mean, the steakhouse was pretty often it was was
- 55:26Speaker 1: it the Hilltop? The hilltop?
- 55:29Speaker 2: Yeah, going up Quarry Hill Road there, Yeah, there was
- 55:33Speaker 2: one up there, I think it was called the Hilltop.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Yep, I love that place, man, I remember that.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that was the right going up, going up
- 55:41Speaker 2: to hill good food. Yeah, yeah, I don't do them.
- 55:45Speaker 2: I haven't been into a lot of restaurants downtown here,
- 55:48Speaker 2: obviously because I don't go out. But I I'm the Steakhouse.
- 55:55Speaker 2: I did like the steakhouse, and I like Morgan's and
- 55:59Speaker 2: before it was I mean when it was still Morgan.
- 56:02Speaker 1: Sure.
- 56:03Speaker 2: Now it's like, I don't know what it turned into.
- 56:05Speaker 2: But yeah, yeah, Sardo cheese. Of course they're not in Bari.
- 56:11Speaker 2: But yeah, I haven't been into a lot of the
- 56:15Speaker 2: restaurants downtown here. I haven't even been in I don't
- 56:18Speaker 2: I'm not a real drinker, so I haven't even been
- 56:21Speaker 2: into Gusto's. I'm like, I lived here for thirty years
- 56:24Speaker 2: and I've never been into Gustos.
- 56:26Speaker 1: Do you remember? Do you remember Dell's?
- 56:28Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah, oh and the one, uh the dugout, the Dougout.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I die.
- 56:34Speaker 2: I missed the dugout so bad? Breakfast?
- 56:38Speaker 1: Have you have you had it? Have you driven by
- 56:43Speaker 1: the dugout?
- 56:44Speaker 2: Yeah? I did lately, Yes, just the other day, as
- 56:47Speaker 2: a matter of fact, Sunday homely cow.
- 56:51Speaker 1: Have a glance at your monitor there. Oh yeah, I
- 56:56Speaker 1: took that picture this morning.
- 56:58Speaker 2: Oh did you? Yeah? It it's did you see the
- 57:02Speaker 2: hill behind it though?
- 57:03Speaker 1: It's all kid?
- 57:04Speaker 2: Yeah, from them with floods it must have landslide. Yeah,
- 57:11Speaker 2: that's a shame. That was such a good place.
- 57:14Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 57:14Speaker 2: That was back in the day when Yeah, I'm remembered.
- 57:17Speaker 2: See that thing there, that reminds me back. And when
- 57:20Speaker 2: we first got here that was open and it was
- 57:22Speaker 2: nice and clean and tasty good. We were all happy.
- 57:27Speaker 1: Lobster remember the lobster They used to do great lobster there.
- 57:30Speaker 2: Yes, we would go there and yeah, it was just peace.
- 57:35Speaker 2: Like I said, the first two years here were heavenly.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 57:39Speaker 2: Yeah, we had so much fun. We fell in love
- 57:42Speaker 2: with the place, and I still am. That's why I
- 57:46Speaker 2: don't leave my daughter and her son. They both want
- 57:51Speaker 2: me to move to Virginia Beach. Come down here, you'll
- 57:54Speaker 2: have family, people pay attention to you. We got cheaper,
- 57:58Speaker 2: we got all kinds of this that I'm like, I
- 58:02Speaker 2: love it up here. Yeah. Why would I come down
- 58:05Speaker 2: there where it's nine million degrees in this summer?
- 58:08Speaker 1: Yeah, you don't like the heat?
- 58:10Speaker 2: Oh, I can't take the heat. God, this summer almost
- 58:13Speaker 2: killed me.
- 58:13Speaker 1: It was hot one.
- 58:15Speaker 2: So no, I don't. I don't want to go to
- 58:18Speaker 2: Virginia Beach and live.
- 58:20Speaker 1: I want to ask you just back to the dugout.
- 58:23Speaker 2: Yeah, what what do you think?
- 58:25Speaker 1: What should be done with that situation?
- 58:29Speaker 2: Well, it can I I would have said something before
- 58:34Speaker 2: I noticed that the back of it had washed out,
- 58:37Speaker 2: But because that still could be a dangerous situation, Yeah, don't.
- 58:43Speaker 2: But what could be done with it? Man? It's trash.
- 58:48Speaker 2: I mean I get down and start.
- 58:50Speaker 1: Over, I've heard, or just knock it down. Yeah, because
- 58:55Speaker 1: like like you say that that bank behind it is
- 58:57Speaker 1: all caved in from from the last couple of floods,
- 58:59Speaker 1: and it's.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Might still keep coming.
- 59:03Speaker 1: You know, and there's a there's that brook that runs
- 59:05Speaker 1: right through there. I have heard so much over the
- 59:12Speaker 1: years about the dugout, that it's privately owned, that there's
- 59:17Speaker 1: the town has their hands tied, there's nothing they can
- 59:21Speaker 1: do about it, that there's no ordinance that where the
- 59:27Speaker 1: town has any any leverage against this property. And I
- 59:36Speaker 1: just wonder how many, you know, kind of like the
- 59:39Speaker 1: JJ Newberry building right here, how much longer we're going
- 59:47Speaker 1: to go here with this incredible, let's be honest, disgusting iceore.
- 59:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it wasn't that way when I got here.
- 59:58Speaker 1: I didn't even use the word rat infested. But at
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: some point here and maybe there are discussions that are
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: taking place with the town and the owners. I don't know,
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: but at some point I think something has got to
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: be done here.
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: I'm surprised something.
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, we all see it every day when
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: we drive by.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Maybe it'll get hit by some kind of lightning someday. Yeah, jesus,
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: it seems to happen around here.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: Man. I don't know. Man, it's it's.
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: That's an isore, that's for sure.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: It's a huge eyesore, it really is.
- 1:00:49Speaker 2: I'm just surprised. I'm really surprised it hasn't all the
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: way caved in and just rotted away.
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: Well, it kind of is.
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: It's pretty close to that.
- 1:00:57Speaker 1: It's it's there.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: What would be the benefit of somebody hanging on to that?
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Though?
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Why would they? I don't it's not like it's a
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: valuable piece of land, I don't think.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: No, I don't think so not. It's certainly not anymore.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: No, not with that overhanging danger.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: Yeah. Wow, Greg says, there's been a little clean up
- 1:01:20Speaker 1: this past summer. I just wonder you know who that is? Who?
- 1:01:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but what are they cleaning it up? You wanted
- 1:01:28Speaker 2: to just level it and clean it up that way?
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: I know I haven't noticed any cleanup.
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: You're not going to do anything with it.
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: You can't.
- 1:01:37Speaker 2: It's only a habitable.
- 1:01:39Speaker 1: It's just I want you to have. Why don't you
- 1:01:50Speaker 1: to have a great winter? Dude?
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: Oh? Man, I'm going to try my best. You know,
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: I got tickets for the Battling Burry December six, So this.
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: Is sample of and here we are. Connectivity is my
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: driving force. Man. It's like in relatability. If people can
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: connect with others, connect with connect with you right now
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: and relate to something.
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: Yeah, with you.
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: That's the thing. If it wasn't for this podcast, you
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: watching and listening like you do every single morning, you
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: wouldn't have had the pressure put on you from myself
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: and Rex to get out of your house. Oh.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: I wouldn't be where I am right now if it
- 1:02:51Speaker 2: wasn't for this show and you.
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Guys just a guy Dan, Yeah, dude.
- 1:02:58Speaker 2: And when ray Lean was on, she said she helped
- 1:03:01Speaker 2: me so much with a sit you're dealing with Heather's passing,
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: particularly on the twenty fifth anniversary. Yeah. Yeah, this has
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: been great for me.
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: We we we put some pressure on you to get
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: out of the house and go to this battle in Berry. Yeah,
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: and you, Hempton Haut, you pushed back, well, how am
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: I going to get in there? And this and that
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: and this and that, and how am I going to
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: get out? And I don't stay up this late. You
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: had one hundred and one excuses. Oh yeah, but you
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: finally got out of your house, dude, and you went
- 1:03:42Speaker 1: to a battle in Berry and you saw amateur and
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: professional MMA right up close, and you got freaking hooked back.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: Man. I can't believe it. I'm a boxing guy normally.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:03:54Speaker 2: I grew up watching Olie and Frasier and all them.
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: Really.
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: Oh yes, and Tyson, oh my god, don't even get
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: me going on in the day.
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: In the day when he was like eighteen years.
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: Thirty second knockout, Yeah yeah, yeah, And I really the
- 1:04:12Speaker 2: MMA when this first come around, I was not too
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: I didn't know about it.
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: Yeah. You you got out to fight and you said,
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: this is going to be a tradition. This is good.
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I'm not going to miss the next one, I know,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: and I don't think you've missed one since No.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: I haven't. I'm like, it's for me. I don't have
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: a lot to do and I can't my knee. I
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: used to hunt and fish and hike and all that,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: but I can't do that anymore. I have nothing to do. Yeah,
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: and for something like this to be in Barry, I'm like,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: I put it off for many years because I wasn't
- 1:05:00Speaker 2: real happy when he first started it, because I thought
- 1:05:03Speaker 2: it was just gonna be something's going to turn all
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: the gangsters in town into brawlers, and we're gonna I
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: was poo pooing on it for a couple of years.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: I admit it because I like boxing. I love boxing.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: But then as time went on, I realized, well, there's
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: no boxing. There's not going to be any boxing, and
- 1:05:25Speaker 2: boxing has gone down here a little bit. It's hard
- 1:05:28Speaker 2: to find good shows on TV. So I figured I'd
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: give it a try, and oh my goodness, it's such
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: a great sport. That's what I look at it now.
- 1:05:41Speaker 2: They're not just beating each other up skilled, the art,
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: the train raining, what goes into I mean, I'm trying
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: to pick up on moves and I see a certain
- 1:05:52Speaker 2: move if they do this, most guys get knocked out
- 1:05:55Speaker 2: when they do that, and not just learning and noticing,
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: and man, it's so much fun.
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right up there, dude. You get like the
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: best seat in the house and you're you're screaming and
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: yelling like it you freaking not case.
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: I didn't think I had it in me, but I do.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: I love it.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: You do you love it?
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: I can't, And like I said, it's fun. The first
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: one was hard for me to get into because my
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: PTSD was kicking it pretty hard. I was like at
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: the front door and I was like, justin, I don't
- 1:06:29Speaker 2: know if I can do this, but we walked me in.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: Once I got seated and situated because I hadn't been
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: around people for a long time, that many people in years,
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: and it calmed down and I calmed down, and then
- 1:06:44Speaker 2: the fight started and people it wasn't like they didn't
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: really bother me anymore. I was in my own little world.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: And that's why I like to get a table. Yeah,
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: I don't want to be with all of them.
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right up close, you're right, but your cage side.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah. I try to get as close as I
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: can because I want to see it and hear in
- 1:07:07Speaker 2: an experienced now and I love it.
- 1:07:10Speaker 1: What did you wish I could do it? What what
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: happened for you? When Chris Perrault knocked that guy out
- 1:07:21Speaker 1: in seconds?
- 1:07:23Speaker 2: I went wild. I haven't moved that fast in my knees.
- 1:07:27Speaker 2: I didn't even think about my I jumped up. Oh man,
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: I jumped up. I was screaming and yelling. Oh the
- 1:07:35Speaker 2: whole place went.
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: Why place exploded?
- 1:07:37Speaker 2: That was so fantastic, wasn't it. It was a little
- 1:07:41Speaker 2: short of a fight.
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: But I keep forgetting what was that? Thirteen seconds? Seven seconds?
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: I on my phone. I got it on my phone.
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: I think I got it at fourteen seconds. Yeah, and
- 1:07:54Speaker 2: there was a miracle. I got it.
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: Unbelievable. Becky is saying that you enough of the bullshit.
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: You need to start going to the races.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: Oh yeah, to the races, Clenn thunder Road. Why it's
- 1:08:11Speaker 2: after my bedtime?
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Come on, buddy again.
- 1:08:15Speaker 2: I don't have anybody to go with.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: Becky, will go with you?
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: Okay, I need a ride and I don't. Here's the thing.
- 1:08:22Speaker 2: I think I know the layout of a thunder road
- 1:08:25Speaker 2: and I might just have to walk too far to
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: get to the seats.
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: Dude, horseshit.
- 1:08:32Speaker 2: Okay, we'll get you. I haven't been up there.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: We'll figure it out. We'll get you a wheelchair but
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: or whatever we have to do.
- 1:08:40Speaker 2: If it's not too far, and it's not too far uphill,
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: I just used my cane. I usually make it.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: We will get there. Are plenty of folks who have
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the same, similar and even worse mobility issues. It's they still.
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: I understand the crowds in it. I got that, man,
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: But listen, this come in spring. Yeah, consider it.
- 1:09:09Speaker 2: I am. I was considering it just before the Milk Bowl,
- 1:09:12Speaker 2: but damn well. He took one of my buddies to
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: the fights last time, and he goes to the races
- 1:09:18Speaker 2: every week, and I kind of I was hoping I
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: might be able to hook up with him and go
- 1:09:24Speaker 2: to one of the races this year, but it didn't
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: pan out. So next year I'm going to get into it.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: Because when I lived back in New York, when I
- 1:09:33Speaker 2: was in my teen years, we used to go to
- 1:09:35Speaker 2: the races every Saturday night. Okay, up at the we
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: had a stock tart car track, dirt track, and every
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: Saturday night I was up at the races.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: Becky's saying you can sit.
- 1:09:48Speaker 2: With them, okay.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: And Becky won't forget I'm telling you this coming like April. Yeah,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: Becky's going to be reminding me to remind you, and
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: Becky and I both will put a heap of pressure
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: on me.
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: Oh, let's go. I mean it's been well.
- 1:10:08Speaker 1: Call your ass out on the air.
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: I went up once when we first got see again,
- 1:10:13Speaker 2: here I go. When we first got here, the first
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: two years, we got into everything because they got a
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: racetrack here. I love racing, so we went to the track.
- 1:10:27Speaker 2: When we first moved here, we went to the track.
- 1:10:30Speaker 2: Was it Thursday night day and Sundays and yeah, And
- 1:10:35Speaker 2: I hate to keep saying this, but losing the heather
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: really fucked up my not only my life, my family
- 1:10:45Speaker 2: has been fucked up over that. But here we are.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: You know, I can't. It's it's just a major part
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: of my life. I wish I could. I'm not going
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: to ever forget it, but it has crushed my spirit.
- 1:11:04Speaker 2: I used to be a really fun funny guy.
- 1:11:07Speaker 1: Yes, my daughter, but listen, would you agree that time
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: is the most precious in the most fragile gift that
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: we all have. Oh yeah, you don't know when your
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: last day is going to be.
- 1:11:26Speaker 2: Absolutely I learned that.
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: So why not spend however many years you have left
- 1:11:35Speaker 1: on this absolutely crazy fucking planet. Yeah, spend it in
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: a way that.
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: Tries to bring you some joy while I'm trying to
- 1:11:54Speaker 2: do that more.
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: Now, where you can rediscover things that make you.
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Happy, right, Yeah, I am trying to do that now.
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: Particularly that is possible. Bro.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: Well, it's hard work, it ok it's hard.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I can't imagine being in your shoes. Okay, So i
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: can sit here and preach all day, but I'm not
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: in your shoes. I have not experienced what you've experienced.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Well, see, I think what happened, or part of
- 1:12:24Speaker 2: what's happened, is that, you know, I wasn't really well
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: established here in Vermont when in the accident occurred, so
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: we didn't really know a lot of people. And then
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: after that I virtually got to meet nobody. People. You know,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: they tend to shy away from you when you suffered
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: that kind of tragedy. Sure, so it's I lost track
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: with people and went inward to myself, and when with
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Kathy Gowing and all the problems the kids have had
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: because of this ship. The last twenty years have just
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: been a total fucking disaster. And I haven't gone out.
- 1:13:08Speaker 2: I haven't. I've lost interest in everything. I don't But
- 1:13:12Speaker 2: I think I've come to the point where I'm naw,
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: my body's crapping out on me. I want to get
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: back out and start doing stuff again. I do want
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: to have fun. I want to enjoy the rest of
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: my life, you know.
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: I here you go.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Yeah, And there's things that I can do. But like
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: I say, my point, I guess is that the support
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: is what's necessary. People that can go through this if
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: they have somebody. I mean, I live alone sixteen years, man,
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: I don't have people to bounce stuff off of. I
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: don't have anybody. Hey, what do you want to do today?
- 1:13:52Speaker 2: Go out to dinner? You want to go to the park,
- 1:13:54Speaker 2: you want to go up to the mountains? I don't,
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: I go. What do you want to do today? Not
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: really much, man, smog a joint.
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: I just there's there's some people. I'm just glancing through
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: the names of some of the people that are listening
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: right now, and all of them, all of them, with
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: the exception of one that I don't know that. Well,
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: have been through a whole heap of ship in their lives,
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: isn't it different from yours? But still commonality. Heap of ship. Yeah, hardship, despair, discouragement, depression, Yeah,
- 1:14:51Speaker 1: physical stuff, mental stuff. The list goes on. There is
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: a factor of relatability. Yeah, between listeners have aired out
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: and you sitting on that couch right now.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Not good?
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Know that? Good know that.
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: Appreciate knowing that it is. It feels alone A lot
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: of the time. I feel all alone. Well, I used
- 1:15:21Speaker 2: to have people that I could bounce shit off of.
- 1:15:23Speaker 2: My elders, been all my elders are gone.
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: You connecting with me every single day, for me, it's
- 1:15:41Speaker 1: a blessing. I appreciate that every morning for years, your
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: name pops up as one of the first listeners on.
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: And no matter who it is that I've got in here,
- 1:15:57Speaker 1: and no matter what we're talking about, even shit that
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: you disagree with, you still you still are locked in.
- 1:16:05Speaker 1: And you are beyond just a member of the audience here. No,
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: you're you've You've become something a lot more than that, buddy,
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: as many have. Yeah, I still haven't even met Becky,
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: but that's going to happen someday and and fran scene,
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: what a lovely lady. Mary. I don't think i've I've
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: met her yet. Maybe I have. I don't know. I'm
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: getting old myself, but but it has said. Listen, man,
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: you are a great gift to me. I am again,
- 1:16:43Speaker 1: I'm so blessed that I get to start my day
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: with not only you, but everyone else. And I have
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: my off days, I have my on days and everything
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: in between. But man, Glenn, you're still, like Francine says,
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: getting up every day is a beautiful blessing. You still
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: have time. You still have an opportunity in front of
- 1:17:13Speaker 1: you every single day, seven days a week, to start
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: something fresh, start something new. And there's a lot of
- 1:17:22Speaker 1: people that are right here in your backyard. You live
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: right here in Barry City, right here in your backyard,
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: who can relate to what you're saying and relate to
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: carrying weight mentally every day. There's a lot of people. Man.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: I'm just saying it like it.
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: Is bro a strange world.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: And one of these days I'm going to get you
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: and Big Kenny in here, and I might have to
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: I might have to put something in my orange juice
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: that morning to get me through that episode. But I
- 1:17:57Speaker 1: think we should do it.
- 1:17:59Speaker 2: I think we should do it.
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: Tired retired cop meets retired outlaw holy ship on a shingle.
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: But I'm a nice guy, and I know Kenny's a
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: nice guy. I know that, I know, I know it
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: should be fun. I mean, now, it's just so weird.
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: Uh. Becky says we need an aired out get together.
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: What Becky doesn't realize. I don't think you do either.
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: And because I haven't talked about this on the air,
- 1:18:32Speaker 1: and I probably won't anymore than I am right now. Yeah,
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: but that is actually going to happen. Oh boy, sooner
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: than later. We gotta we got a cold, long winter
- 1:18:43Speaker 1: ahead of us.
- 1:18:43Speaker 2: Yeah, we don't know each other.
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: We're all going to meet each other. Trust me, it's happen.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: It's it's gonna happen. I guarantee it.
- 1:18:51Speaker 2: That's how most of my friends are. I have one
- 1:18:54Speaker 2: hundreds or two hundred friends on Facebook. I don't really
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: know who they are. I just know them.
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: It's going to happen. Becky says, nice, meaning you. Mary
- 1:19:03Speaker 1: says the same. The list goes on. Taylor says, loved
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: hearing your story. Glenn. Remember you're never as alone as
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: you think you are. There's always a way through.
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: Amen. I don't say that often.
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: Thanks for coming in here, brother, I love it mostly.
- 1:19:26Speaker 1: Thanks for being my.
- 1:19:27Speaker 2: Friend me too. I love you.
- 1:19:30Speaker 1: I love you too, buddy y
