- 0:27Rick Costa: Almost I ordered more.
- 0:29Carmen Lezeth: I know, but you didn't have to.
- 0:32Rick Costa: But I want to.
- 0:34Carmen Lezeth: I know I'm interested to see.
- 0:36Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so, cynthia, here's what you need to know.
- 0:38Carmen Lezeth: So, first of all, a few things.
- 0:41Carmen Lezeth: Let me first thank Rick Costa, because he's been very patient with me as I've gone through this process of going through every different store on the planet.
- 0:50Carmen Lezeth: I was just being too meticulous about.
- 0:53Carmen Lezeth: Meticulous about it is that the right word?
- 0:55Carmen Lezeth: Because and I'm gonna say this a content creator that we all love.
- 0:59Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if cynthia watches terry k, but we love terry k he's the one that's just like love you bye.
- 1:07Carmen Lezeth: You know he's always like.
- 1:08Carmen Lezeth: You know he has all those sayings.
- 1:09Carmen Lezeth: What's the other one that we always say too?
- 1:11Carmen Lezeth: Confusion, confusion.
- 1:13Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, I say that all the time.
- 1:14Carmen Lezeth: What else, rick?
- 1:15Rick Costa: The church fan is broken down and the members will not be in attendance.
- 1:19Carmen Lezeth: When the food is really bad.
- 1:21Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, he's so funny.
- 1:23Rick Costa: I love him, I think it's and you can't forget police.
- 1:26Carmen Lezeth: Police, police.
- 1:28Carmen Lezeth: Yes, he does that all the time.
- 1:29Carmen Lezeth: But the thing is, I bought a t-shirt.
- 1:32Carmen Lezeth: He was my first TikTok creator person that I bought something from and I bought a t-shirt from him and it was like $40.
- 1:39Carmen Lezeth: It was like and I was like that's okay, I like, and I was like that's okay, I want to support him, I want to get, and it was it's love you bye.
- 1:51Carmen Lezeth: It's like on the front, and the shirt was so bad.
- 1:52Carmen Lezeth: I'm sorry.
- 1:52Carmen Lezeth: I'm sure he's changed it since then.
- 1:53Carmen Lezeth: It's been like a year or something, but I was like I will never, ever sell something like that.
- 1:55Carmen Lezeth: If I ever get to that place to buy sweat, you know what I mean, or whatever terry, if you're watching, this is no reflection on you would you just say oh
- 2:03Carmen Lezeth: no, we hope he's watching.
- 2:04Carmen Lezeth: He like big deal now.
- 2:07Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, no, I know all of his stuff is on point now because now we have the tiktok shop and we have all that stuff.
- 2:13Carmen Lezeth: We're not on tiktok shop.
- 2:15Carmen Lezeth: I'm not doing it.
- 2:15Carmen Lezeth: Everyone's like you should do a tiktok shop.
- 2:17Carmen Lezeth: I'm not doing that.
- 2:18Carmen Lezeth: I'm not doing any of that.
- 2:19Carmen Lezeth: But we do have swag at allaboutthejoycom.
- 2:23Carmen Lezeth: You can also go to and you'll see the store.
- 2:26Carmen Lezeth: Just go over to the store area.
- 2:28Carmen Lezeth: Let me just show at the bottom the ticker.
- 2:31Carmen Lezeth: This brings you to all of our links, my links specifically, but also to bring you to allaboutthejoycom If you want to check out the swag, if you want to buy a T-shirt or a hat or a.
- 2:45Carmen Lezeth: I think Rick's favorite is the pillow.
- 2:47Carmen Lezeth: I think it's so funny.
- 2:49Rick Costa: It's not as the favorite, it's just.
- 2:51Rick Costa: I was surprised.
- 2:52Rick Costa: It was good quality.
- 2:53Rick Costa: I thought it was going to be maybe cheaper, but I was like, no, this thing is tough.
- 2:56Carmen Lezeth: I know I love the hat, though.
- 2:59Carmen Lezeth: Is that a dad hat or the regular hat?
- 3:02Rick Costa: I can't remember.
- 3:06Carmen Lezeth: I think it's a regular hat, right, I'm going to have to get one of those, but anyway.
- 3:08Carmen Lezeth: So I just want to say thank you to Rick Costa.
- 3:10Carmen Lezeth: Let me just get this out fully and completely, because you were patient with me.
- 3:14Carmen Lezeth: This has been going on for like a year.
- 3:15Carmen Lezeth: A year I've been buying t-shirts and testing them and washing them.
- 3:21Carmen Lezeth: It could be like nope, nope, and there's so many.
- 3:25Carmen Lezeth: And here's the thing there's so many places, but then you have to pay in order to do it, to get the really primo quality stuff, and I'm not there yet.
- 3:33Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 3:34Carmen Lezeth: I'm not there yet, but we have t-shirts.
- 3:35Carmen Lezeth: If you want to support the show we're not sponsoring.
- 3:40Carmen Lezeth: We're not sponsoring a nonprofit yet, because I was told in a not so nice way that we're not there yet, we don't have to do that yet.
- 3:48Carmen Lezeth: So I didn't inflate the prices or anything.
- 3:50Carmen Lezeth: It's just to get the brand out there.
- 3:52Carmen Lezeth: And if you want to support us and the couple of dollars we do make off of the merchandise goes right back into all of the stuff I do for the show, which is let me, in case you haven't heard it before editing and editing.
- 4:06Carmen Lezeth: I did speak to a, a organization that helps they work with positive podcasts.
- 4:14Carmen Lezeth: Hi, melanie, how are you Positive type of podcasts that might be interested in working with us if we want to work with them for editing and stuff.
- 4:23Carmen Lezeth: But it's a little bit of money, but it's good to have goals.
- 4:26Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying it's good to have goals.
- 4:28Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, so I'm interested in talking to them at some point in the future.
- 4:32Carmen Lezeth: So, yeah, I just wanted to say thank you so much, rick, and for your patience and for pushing me along, and then I will also begrudgingly say thank you to Joel Lava, who the other day I was so mad.
- 4:46Carmen Lezeth: He was like just do it, you're going to do it today, put it up on the website.
- 4:50Carmen Lezeth: I was like.
- 4:51Carmen Lezeth: And then I told Rick and of course I was like cause, at some point you just have to do it.
- 4:58Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, just do it, just put it out there.
- 5:01Carmen Lezeth: I keep wanting everything to be so perfect and yeah.
- 5:06Rick Costa: Perfectionism is a blockage to success sometimes.
- 5:11Carmen Lezeth: Thank you, Rick.
- 5:13Rick Costa: It's my quote for the day.
- 5:17Carmen Lezeth: So funny, anyways, okay, cool.
- 5:20Carmen Lezeth: So, cynthia, how you doing.
- 5:23Cynthia Ruiz: I'm good.
- 5:23Cynthia Ruiz: So, cynthia, how you?
- 5:24Carmen Lezeth: doing.
- 5:24Cynthia Ruiz: I'm good.
- 5:26Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you know what Can I tell you?
- 5:28Carmen Lezeth: This thing distracts me.
- 5:29Carmen Lezeth: I can't keep looking at it.
- 5:30Carmen Lezeth: I think I have HDD or whatever you call those things.
- 5:33Carmen Lezeth: I don't, let me not make fun of that stuff.
- 5:35Carmen Lezeth: Sorry, that was it.
- 5:37Carmen Lezeth: That was very unkind of me.
- 5:38Carmen Lezeth: Wait, this is my favorite.
- 5:40Carmen Lezeth: Look it.
- 5:40Carmen Lezeth: I'm not promoting anything, just so glad you're here.
- 5:48Carmen Lezeth: He's just testing.
- 5:49Carmen Lezeth: Okay, Cynthia go ahead, go ahead, girl.
- 5:53Carmen Lezeth: What's up, what's up, what's up.
- 5:57Cynthia Ruiz: This week work hasn't been too busy, so just really good.
- 5:59Cynthia Ruiz: It's a little break, because I was busy the last two weeks.
- 6:04Carmen Lezeth: But I thought you had somebody who was away, so you were covering for them, weren't you?
- 6:07Carmen Lezeth: Yes, she's back.
- 6:10Cynthia Ruiz: Oh, she's back.
- 6:13Carmen Lezeth: Is this the one who wasn't teaching you fast enough?
- 6:15Carmen Lezeth: Yes, okay, I'm feeling.
- 6:19Carmen Lezeth: Maybe I'm wrong.
- 6:20Carmen Lezeth: Rick, are you feeling a little hesitant, or?
- 6:22Rick Costa: There's something behind there a little bit.
- 6:24Cynthia Ruiz: Oh, did you show, rick, what I got you, what I sent you?
- 6:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh, no, but I put it away.
- 6:30Carmen Lezeth: She sent me a really cool T-shirt from her trip to Greece, which was cool, but more importantly it was a bed bug light and package like wipes and Clorox.
- 6:44Carmen Lezeth: I had to throw away the Clorox because it was so smelly.
- 6:46Carmen Lezeth: My mom would have to have the bleach stuff, but it was like a whole care package of like for bed bugs.
- 6:52Carmen Lezeth: It was like cracking up.
- 6:53Carmen Lezeth: It was so funny.
- 6:54Carmen Lezeth: That is funny.
- 6:55Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it was hilarious.
- 6:57Carmen Lezeth: So what else is going on with you?
- 6:58Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia Habla, habla.
- 6:59Carmen Lezeth: I'm telling her to talk in Spanish.
- 7:03Cynthia Ruiz: Not much this week, actually.
- 7:05Cynthia Ruiz: I've just been exhausted.
- 7:06Cynthia Ruiz: Not much is going on this week, though.
- 7:11Carmen Lezeth: Do you guys know who Thor Bradley is?
- 7:13Carmen Lezeth: Do you know who he is?
- 7:14Carmen Lezeth: Who this guy on TikTok?
- 7:18Rick Costa: I don't think so.
- 7:20Cynthia Ruiz: I haven't seen him.
- 7:21Rick Costa: Oh, does he sell stuff?
- 7:22Rick Costa: He's the guy with the axe.
- 7:24Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, he's the guy with the axe.
- 7:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, he's the guy with the axe.
- 7:27Rick Costa: He sells stuff too.
- 7:28Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God.
- 7:29Carmen Lezeth: Okay, this is not an ad for him, because I don't know him at all, but okay, so the name of his candle he sells a candle.
- 7:37Carmen Lezeth: Okay, this is a guy who has so many tattoos, but he's really cool.
- 7:39Carmen Lezeth: It's not all he does, but he first really cool and all he does.
- 7:42Carmen Lezeth: It's not all he does, but he first started on tiktok doing what do you call it?
- 7:47Carmen Lezeth: Not axing wood?
- 7:48Carmen Lezeth: What do you say?
- 7:48Carmen Lezeth: What?
- 7:49Carmen Lezeth: Throwing the chopping wood?
- 7:50Carmen Lezeth: Chopping wood, melanie.
- 7:52Carmen Lezeth: His name is bradley I'm a thor bradley, and he is a person who lives in northern california and like in the woods and like not in the city.
- 8:03Carmen Lezeth: So he lives like in a beautiful part of Northern California and he chops wood with axes and he teaches people, but he's been on TikTok for so long.
- 8:12Carmen Lezeth: He also has like a lot of wisdom and stuff, but he's also very attractive.
- 8:16Carmen Lezeth: He has a beautiful body, but he has way too many tattoos for me, like just, I mean, cause I'm sure that's what he's worried about Like, what does Carmen think?
- 8:24Carmen Lezeth: I think he has 10 million followers on TikTok, and they're all probably women.
- 8:30Carmen Lezeth: I think a lot of men follow him too, though, because he has a good duality there of like masculinity and sexiness, you know, but he's not off-putting.
- 8:40Carmen Lezeth: Anyways, the reason why I'm saying is because, yes, sells a candle and it's called this is so funny non-toxic masculinity I see what you did there I see what you did there, okay.
- 8:56Carmen Lezeth: So I was like you know, and he's been selling it for a while and the other thing cool that he does is that and I'm not going to do this because I don't have a tikt and I don't plan on doing that but if you advertise his candle for him on TikTok he gives you a percentage of what he makes.
- 9:11Carmen Lezeth: That's so cool, okay.
- 9:14Carmen Lezeth: So one of the things I thought was funny is the way he's selling it is he's looking?
- 9:18Carmen Lezeth: I'm glad everyone likes the candle and I guess he has a spray too.
- 9:21Carmen Lezeth: I didn't get the spray, you know it smells like me so and I was like, ooh, that don't sound like a good selling point.
- 9:28Carmen Lezeth: I didn't say that You're watching him with the ax and everything.
- 9:33Carmen Lezeth: I'm thinking sweaty.
- 9:34Carmen Lezeth: I'm like I don't think that's going to be sexy.
- 9:36Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you clearly I have never been with a man who's non-toxic.
- 9:44Carmen Lezeth: Clearly I have never been with a man who's non-toxic because I'm in love child.
- 9:47Carmen Lezeth: This thing smells so good.
- 9:52Carmen Lezeth: I'm not kidding, I have never smoked a candle like this.
- 9:57Carmen Lezeth: I don't even want to burn it.
- 9:59Cynthia Ruiz: What does it smell like?
- 10:01Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, non-toxic masculinity.
- 10:02Cynthia Ruiz: I'm telling you, it smells like Thor.
- 10:03Carmen Lezeth: Bradley, it's right, I don't know.
- 10:04Carmen Lezeth: It's about non-toxic masculinity.
- 10:06Rick Costa: It smells like Thor Bradley.
- 10:08Carmen Lezeth: Right, I don't know.
- 10:09Carmen Lezeth: I was trying to think like how I would describe it.
- 10:13Carmen Lezeth: Okay, here's the thing.
- 10:15Carmen Lezeth: I hate vanilla.
- 10:16Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to be honest with you.
- 10:17Carmen Lezeth: I do not like the smell of vanilla.
- 10:19Carmen Lezeth: This might have a little hint of it, but not in the way that makes me nauseous.
- 10:24Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 10:25Carmen Lezeth: I don't know.
- 10:27Carmen Lezeth: I really do, and I was trying to look to see what is in it, but I don't know.
- 10:30Carmen Lezeth: It's good though, so just saying you need a candle.
- 10:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm not going to burn it though, but yeah, I'm in love child.
- 10:40Cynthia Ruiz: I want to open ittoxic masculinity man.
- 10:42Cynthia Ruiz: Now, that's like the new standard Name a star Look at that.
- 10:57Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but he's got a lot of tattoos.
- 10:58Carmen Lezeth: Are you guys into tattoos?
- 11:00Rick Costa: I don't mind them.
- 11:01Rick Costa: I find them fascinating, but I would never get one.
- 11:04Rick Costa: It's just not for me.
- 11:06Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I would never get one.
- 11:07Carmen Lezeth: It's just not for me.
- 11:08Carmen Lezeth: Oh, I would never get one.
- 11:09Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia has nine of them, right, yeah, I hate needles.
- 11:11Carmen Lezeth: You don't have.
- 11:11Carmen Lezeth: Who has one then?
- 11:13Carmen Lezeth: Oh, audrey, does Audrey.
- 11:14Carmen Lezeth: I was thinking Audrey, right, right, right, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, I remember that.
- 11:18Carmen Lezeth: Okay, right.
- 11:19Carmen Lezeth: And Rick, you have how many secret places?
- 11:21Rick Costa: How many?
- 11:22Rick Costa: Zero, zero.
- 11:23Rick Costa: My son has a few I don't have any Really?
- 11:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't.
- 11:26Carmen Lezeth: I could never get a tattoo, but I'm not even attracted to people like men who have tattoos.
- 11:31Carmen Lezeth: I don't care if you have tattoos, as long as you have good quality ones.
- 11:35Carmen Lezeth: I don't care Like I can tell a gang tattoo and a prison tattoo from artwork.
- 11:41Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 11:41Carmen Lezeth: I can tell them, and it tells a story of who you are, so it's awesome.
- 11:44Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 11:45Rick Costa: I saw a guy singing today and he had literally up to here.
- 11:48Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah.
- 11:49Rick Costa: Complete tattoo.
- 11:50Rick Costa: I was like that's too much.
- 11:53Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't know what that's about, though.
- 11:55Carmen Lezeth: If you, why would you get it up here?
- 11:57Carmen Lezeth: There are people who have them, except for attention, which is sad.
- 12:12Cynthia Ruiz: Yeah, I didn't mean to talk about tattoos, I know a girl who actually has face tattoos.
- 12:16Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, oh, I know plenty of people who have them.
- 12:18Carmen Lezeth: Oh, melanie doesn't have tattoos.
- 12:19Carmen Lezeth: You know what girl?
- 12:20Carmen Lezeth: I know you do Me and Melanie, me and Melanie.
- 12:23Carmen Lezeth: I'm, you did Me and Melanie, me and Melanie.
- 12:25Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying Me and Melanie.
- 12:35Rick Costa: Yeah, I mean the face tattoo thing and the neck thing, like what Rick was saying.
- 12:37Rick Costa: It just I don't, it feels like too much.
- 12:38Rick Costa: Yeah, I'm like beyond your arm, do you really need all that?
- 12:40Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if it's about need.
- 12:41Carmen Lezeth: It's about a self-expression thing.
- 12:43Carmen Lezeth: To me, you could use henna and do the same thing.
- 12:47Carmen Lezeth: Change it up a few days later if you'd like.
- 12:50Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 12:51Carmen Lezeth: It just feels so permanent.
- 12:53Rick Costa: That's my thing.
- 12:53Rick Costa: I don't want to do anything that permanent.
- 12:56Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, it is a permanent thing.
- 12:58Carmen Lezeth: Or if you got a lot of money you can take it off, but even then it's still's still like no, they haven't perfected that though, because then it looks like you got a welt on your body which I'm like.
- 13:14Carmen Lezeth: Keep your tattoo.
- 13:14Carmen Lezeth: And why anybody would tattoo like their boyfriend's name that's always a bad idea or your girlfriend's name?
- 13:17Carmen Lezeth: Just don't ever do that.
- 13:19Carmen Lezeth: I don't care if you get married, just don't do it yeah, I know a guy that now this was.
- 13:23Rick Costa: I thought this was cool.
- 13:24Rick Costa: His dad passed and he has a huge tattoo of his dad's face on his shoulder.
- 13:28Rick Costa: I was like that's cool, that's cool if it's done, well, it's cool.
- 13:33Carmen Lezeth: Was it done?
- 13:33Carmen Lezeth: It was like it was artwork, because I've seen some and they're like oh yeah, this one.
- 13:39Carmen Lezeth: I'm like oh yeah, this is really.
- 13:40Cynthia Ruiz: Or the ones that do like self portraits of themselves.
- 13:45Cynthia Ruiz: I'm like okay you don't know what you look like.
- 13:49Carmen Lezeth: It's so weird.
- 13:50Carmen Lezeth: It's so weird, even ones that like where people have celebrities tattooed on them, like I've seen people who have Trump, I've seen people who have Barack Obama, I've seen people who have Brad Pitt like just stupid shit.
- 14:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm like dude, like it's a moment in time, you know what I mean.
- 14:07Rick Costa: Like it's just wrong, huh?
- 14:08Rick Costa: I think it's sad too when somebody gets somebody says I'm gonna get a cool chinese saying and it's not what they think it's like and it's like I ate rice.
- 14:16Carmen Lezeth: Like they think it says like you know, especially people before the internet right Verify first, please.
- 14:35Rick Costa: Permanent damage to yourself.
- 14:37Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, those ones are funny, though, like when you see the funny tattoo oh my God, I've seen those you can't stop looking at them Cause you think how stupid could you be.
- 14:45Carmen Lezeth: Okay, but if you were to get a tattoo, you know what would it be.
- 14:49Carmen Lezeth: Let me think about it for a moment.
- 14:51Carmen Lezeth: Let me see what Molly just wrote.
- 14:52Carmen Lezeth: She wrote the washable tattoos that used to come in Cracker Jack boxes are okay.
- 14:57Rick Costa: Can I just say Cracker Jack boxes used to have cool little toys, now it's like stupid paper.
- 15:02Carmen Lezeth: Wait, do they still have Cracker Jack?
- 15:04Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, oh yeah, really, oh yeah.
- 15:07Carmen Lezeth: I saw Frosted Flakes in the grocery store the other day.
- 15:11Carmen Lezeth: I was like, wow, I didn't know they still had Frosted Flakes.
- 15:14Cynthia Ruiz: They call it something different.
- 15:16Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but I think they call it just some, I don't know, no it's still.
- 15:20Carmen Lezeth: Frosted Flakes.
- 15:21Cynthia Ruiz: Is it?
- 15:21Rick Costa: All the old cereal is still there.
- 15:23Rick Costa: Crack their Jack boxes they used to have prizes.
- 15:27Carmen Lezeth: Remember when you used to have the cereal boxes and you would get prizes at the bottom the cereal boxes.
- 15:34Carmen Lezeth: Then you would get prizes at the bottom.
- 15:35Carmen Lezeth: Or you would look oh, that was I used to love that.
- 15:37Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'm having a nostalgia moment, just a nostalgic moment.
- 15:39Carmen Lezeth: Remember you would sit at the kitchen table and you'd have the box in front of you and you'd be intensely reading the back of it and it was like a maze or like little holes.
- 15:49Rick Costa: You were like so intense to me me, the coolest thing ever and I was like there ain't no way this is going to work.
- 15:55Rick Costa: And it actually did, because it was a part of the box, it was a record that would play on a record player and it actually worked.
- 16:04Carmen Lezeth: Yes, I vaguely remember that yes.
- 16:08Rick Costa: Captain Crunch, better be still around.
- 16:10Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, it is.
- 16:11Carmen Lezeth: I used to love Captain Crunch, but that really was just cubes of sugar with milk, pretty much, but it was so good it was Captain Crunch.
- 16:22Carmen Lezeth: I vaguely remember that, rick, yeah, like you could play a record or something, and it was something weird, like Sean Cassidy, do Run, run or something, yeah, and I think there was like a Halloween one.
- 16:35Rick Costa: They had an Alfred Hitchcock story or something that's so funny.
- 16:40Carmen Lezeth: I do vaguely.
- 16:41Carmen Lezeth: I can't even believe.
- 16:42Carmen Lezeth: I just said Sean Cassidy and do run, run like I, just out of nowhere all the kids are like Sean who or do a run who well, sean Cassidy's a big-time director here in Hollywood People don't know that, but he really is and writer, but yeah, most people are going to be like Sean Cassidy.
- 16:59Carmen Lezeth: What Remember that, though?
- 17:00Carmen Lezeth: What was the show with him?
- 17:02Rick Costa: Detective right the detectives.
- 17:04Carmen Lezeth: They were teenagers, not.
- 17:05Rick Costa: Nancy Drew, the other one, the Boys, the Hardy Boys.
- 17:08Carmen Lezeth: The Boys, the Hardy oh my God, wow, I watched all them shows, all them shows.
- 17:15Carmen Lezeth: You know, we're old because we're like, yeah, yeah, because we're old, now Damn.
- 17:21Carmen Lezeth: Oh, my God, how did we get onto cereal boxes?
- 17:29Carmen Lezeth: Wait, how did we get?
- 17:30Cynthia Ruiz: to cereal boxes.
- 17:33Rick Costa: We're talking about tattoos and all the prizes, all the prizes, yeah, yeah oh my god.
- 17:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm laughing because I'm like how did we get there?
- 17:39Carmen Lezeth: That is so funny.
- 17:40Carmen Lezeth: Party boys, that's right, melanie.
- 17:42Rick Costa: Oh my god I saw a meme the other day.
- 17:45Rick Costa: They said this was our remote control and it's a little boy in front of the tv getting ready to turn we had pliers at one point because the thing broken off right.
- 17:54Carmen Lezeth: Remember you would have the.
- 17:55Carmen Lezeth: What were those?
- 17:56Carmen Lezeth: rabbit ears, the rabbit, the antennas, and you would like they were so big and you would yeah, that was crazy.
- 18:03Carmen Lezeth: What else did you like about back then?
- 18:06Carmen Lezeth: Like what are some crazy things?
- 18:08Carmen Lezeth: I remember saturday mornings.
- 18:09Carmen Lezeth: I would still wake up really early.
- 18:11Carmen Lezeth: I know most people slept late, but I would watch cartoons in the morning.
- 18:14Carmen Lezeth: Parker Stevenson, that's right, he was the blonde guy, parker Stevenson.
- 18:22Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I used to always get confused too, because then later on there was Starsky and Hutch and the blonde guy on that was a blonde guy too, and I used to get those two confused.
- 18:32Carmen Lezeth: And then also Duke's of Hazzard.
- 18:36Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I never watched Dukes of Hazzard.
- 18:37Rick Costa: They had a blonde and a brunette also.
- 18:39Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, they were being diverse.
- 18:42Rick Costa: A lot of diversity.
- 18:43Rick Costa: A white version of diversity.
- 18:47Carmen Lezeth: You just have a blonde guy.
- 18:48Rick Costa: We're diverse.
- 18:49Rick Costa: What do you mean?
- 18:50Carmen Lezeth: But there was Starsky and Hutchin.
- 18:51Carmen Lezeth: The guy that played Starsky was Paul Michael Glazier.
- 18:53Carmen Lezeth: I'll never forget him.
- 18:54Carmen Lezeth: I actually got to meet him a couple of times when I moved out here and I had two dogs.
- 18:58Carmen Lezeth: I had Starsky and Hutch my dogs, and I didn't share that story with him, but I still wanted to.
- 19:05Carmen Lezeth: But I forget what the guy's name was.
- 19:07Carmen Lezeth: Hey, brian, bike riding with the boys to the arcade every Saturday.
- 19:13Carmen Lezeth: Bike riding with the boys to the arcade every Saturday oh my God.
- 19:16Carmen Lezeth: We used to go down to the bowling alley.
- 19:18Carmen Lezeth: Remember, cynthia, the bowling alley.
- 19:19Carmen Lezeth: Everybody would play pool or be bowling and we'd be in the arcade because that would be the other part of it.
- 19:24Carmen Lezeth: Melanie said we didn't have cell phones at the breakfast table.
- 19:27Carmen Lezeth: We had cereal boxes.
- 19:28Carmen Lezeth: That's right.
- 19:29Carmen Lezeth: What's the Fall Guy?
- 19:31Carmen Lezeth: The Fall Guy was awesome.
- 19:32Rick Costa: What's the Fall Guy?
- 19:35Carmen Lezeth: It's a TV what's the fall guy?
- 19:36Carmen Lezeth: The fall guy was awesome.
- 19:37Carmen Lezeth: What's?
- 19:37Carmen Lezeth: The fall guy tv show.
- 19:37Carmen Lezeth: I think I'm trying to remember what is it?
- 19:38Rick Costa: the fall guy.
- 19:39Rick Costa: Isn't that a cartoon?
- 19:39Cynthia Ruiz: it's an action tv show I think no, you think of family guy oh yeah, I don't know that show either I don't know the fall guy.
- 19:45Carmen Lezeth: I remember bionic woman yeah, bionic man or something.
- 19:49Carmen Lezeth: I remember those steve aust yeah, oh my God, why is it I can remember these things?
- 19:54Carmen Lezeth: Right Come on Steve Austin.
- 19:57Carmen Lezeth: Why would I remember the character's name that is so random.
- 20:01Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I don't know the Fall Guy.
- 20:02Carmen Lezeth: Do we know what that is yet?
- 20:03Rick Costa: I think that's a show, I think, Speaking of random.
- 20:06Rick Costa: I don't know why, but this past week Lee Majors was Lee Majors, yeah.
- 20:11Carmen Lezeth: Oh, he was so handsome too.
- 20:14Rick Costa: Lee.
- 20:14Carmen Lezeth: Majors was a fox.
- 20:16Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, go ahead, rick.
- 20:18Rick Costa: And for some reason this past week and you would think maybe you heard a trigger, a line of the song Nothing, just the most randomest old songs, all of a sudden pop in my head for no reason.
- 20:30Rick Costa: I'm like.
- 20:31Carmen Lezeth: Did you hear them on the show?
- 20:32Rick Costa: No, that's what I'm saying.
- 20:33Rick Costa: There's literally no trigger, no nothing.
- 20:35Rick Costa: I'm like where are these songs coming from?
- 20:40Carmen Lezeth: Like what song Sing half of?
- 20:42Rick Costa: a verse so we can try to guess.
- 20:44Rick Costa: No, just kidding.
- 20:45Carmen Lezeth: Had the time of my life, you got that one.
- 20:48Carmen Lezeth: That's a great movie and a great song.
- 20:52Rick Costa: That's one of my mom's favorites.
- 20:55Carmen Lezeth: Six Million Dollar man.
- 20:55Carmen Lezeth: You Didn't Know the Fall Guy.
- 20:56Carmen Lezeth: Epic Fail.
- 20:57Carmen Lezeth: What's Epic Fail, is he telling me?
- 21:00Rick Costa: I'm an epic fail.
- 21:01Rick Costa: You don't know what the fall guy is.
- 21:04Carmen Lezeth: None of us know what the fall guy is.
- 21:06Rick Costa: After Steve, austin, lee Majors was the fall guy oh.
- 21:09Carmen Lezeth: Lee Majors was the fall guy.
- 21:10Carmen Lezeth: I barely remember that.
- 21:12Carmen Lezeth: Wait after Steve Austin, so after the Bionic man Lee Majors was a fall guy.
- 21:14Carmen Lezeth: I barely remember that.
- 21:14Carmen Lezeth: Wait after Steve Austin, so after the Bionic man Lee Majors did the fall guy.
- 21:17Rick Costa: But if he didn't have powers, I didn't care.
- 21:19Carmen Lezeth: And I don't think it was as big of a deal as maybe in your area it was.
- 21:24Cynthia Ruiz: Mork and Mindy.
- 21:25Carmen Lezeth: Oh, robin Williams, Mork and Mindy, and that show came from Happy Days from the Fawn.
- 21:31Carmen Lezeth: That's the show that came from happy days.
- 21:37Carmen Lezeth: From the font that came from that remember.
- 21:38Carmen Lezeth: Oh my god, okay, I loved happy days.
- 21:39Rick Costa: That was day tuesday happy days, yeah, I love that show.
- 21:41Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and there's ever a better story of a young actor who started off in I forget the name of the black and white show he was on, and then was richie on happy days and is now one of the biggest, most amazing directors.
- 21:54Cynthia Ruiz: Ron Howard is one of the biggest.
- 21:56Cynthia Ruiz: It wasn't Leave it to Beaver right.
- 21:59Carmen Lezeth: No, no, it was.
- 22:01Cynthia Ruiz: I don't know, I can picture him.
- 22:05Rick Costa: The Country Cop.
- 22:08Cynthia Ruiz: Wow, I don't know Andy Griffin.
- 22:13Rick Costa: Andy Griffin.
- 22:14Rick Costa: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:15Carmen Lezeth: Right right, right, oh, laverne and Shirley.
- 22:20Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 22:21Cynthia Ruiz: Shamil Shamiza.
- 22:22Cynthia Ruiz: How's the something corporate.
- 22:27Carmen Lezeth: Oh my God, we're going to do it.
- 22:31Rick Costa: Oh, welcome back, Carter Welcome back.
- 22:34Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I didn't love that show.
- 22:35Carmen Lezeth: I didn't like the whole ooh ooh, ooh thing.
- 22:38Rick Costa: I guess it's more of a guy thing.
- 22:39Rick Costa: I thought it was funny.
- 22:42Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia, how do you remember Welcome Back Carter when I barely do?
- 22:45Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand.
- 22:46Carmen Lezeth: I think you're so much younger than I am.
- 22:50Carmen Lezeth: The Andy Griffith show yeah, I didn't watch the Andy Griffith show, but I watched it in reruns a little bit, Mostly because I wanted to know who Ron Howard was back in the day.
- 23:00Carmen Lezeth: But what a perfect story of a childhood, Because you always hear the horrible stories right.
- 23:05Carmen Lezeth: Him and Jodie Foster are like the perfect child actors.
- 23:09Carmen Lezeth: Don Knotts was 43.
- 23:11Carmen Lezeth: I'm 43, y'all Come on now.
- 23:13Carmen Lezeth: Child actors.
- 23:14Carmen Lezeth: I'm 43, y'all Come on now.
- 23:14Carmen Lezeth: I don't know what that means.
- 23:15Carmen Lezeth: What does it mean that he's 43?
- 23:17Rick Costa: He's not very young, so he remembers these things.
- 23:21Carmen Lezeth: Oh, like I should.
- 23:21Carmen Lezeth: Some of us were busy Some of us were at rehearsal.
- 23:25Carmen Lezeth: Some of us were not in front of the TV all day.
- 23:27Cynthia Ruiz: Some of us were hanging out in the street.
- 23:28Cynthia Ruiz: Carmen doesn't like Abby Lucy.
- 23:30Rick Costa: Carmen don't like Abby Lucy.
- 23:31Rick Costa: I know Carmen doesn't like Abby Lucy.
- 23:31Rick Costa: Carmen don't like Abby Lucy.
- 23:32Rick Costa: I know she don't like her, okay.
- 23:33Carmen Lezeth: It's not that I don't like her.
- 23:35Rick Costa: And I try not to be offended by that, but you know.
- 23:38Carmen Lezeth: It's not that I just didn't watch it and then, when you forced me to try to watch it, I wasn't into it.
- 23:44Carmen Lezeth: I don't like slapstick comedy.
- 23:46Carmen Lezeth: You guys are mean I don't know Airwolf either.
- 23:49Carmen Lezeth: You, I didn't know Airwolf either.
- 23:51Carmen Lezeth: You guys know Airwolf.
- 23:52Carmen Lezeth: That doesn't really matter.
- 23:54Carmen Lezeth: Okay, good.
- 23:57Cynthia Ruiz: Are you going to call them?
- 23:58Carmen Lezeth: names.
- 23:58Carmen Lezeth: Brian Airwolf was awesome.
- 24:01Rick Costa: I don't remember that one.
- 24:03Rick Costa: Yeah, saturday morning cartoons waking up as a kid was very fun.
- 24:05Rick Costa: You didn't want to wake up to go to school in the morning, but Saturday morning cartoons you would wake up for that.
- 24:11Cynthia Ruiz: I was up.
- 24:11Cynthia Ruiz: I was up and you sit there with your cereal and watch your cartoons.
- 24:16Carmen Lezeth: And the thing is it was all like the best shows too, like you were consistently watching it over and over again.
- 24:21Carmen Lezeth: So weird, I feel.
- 24:24Carmen Lezeth: Like it's not that I feel old in a bad way, like I just feel some of that has been lost.
- 24:29Carmen Lezeth: And look, I think a lot of things have been gained because we have social media, but then a lot has been lost, right?
- 24:36Carmen Lezeth: I think we were talking about it before.
- 24:38Carmen Lezeth: Like you don't have the same camaraderie over a TV show you watched last night.
- 24:42Carmen Lezeth: You have to watch the entire series or something.
- 24:44Carmen Lezeth: What did he say?
- 24:45Carmen Lezeth: Lord, help me.
- 24:46Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I'll go pray for you, brian.
- 24:48Carmen Lezeth: I know he's trying to throw it on me, but I was going to ask you guys another question too, about let me just see here.
- 24:55Carmen Lezeth: I was going to ask you about Chicago Fire, cynthia, I haven't seen it.
- 25:01Carmen Lezeth: No, let me just throw something out at you, okay, just so, brian.
- 25:03Carmen Lezeth: I mean, rick knows, sorry, I didn't mean to call you Brian, rick, oh my gosh.
- 25:07Carmen Lezeth: Sorry, apologies.
- 25:08Carmen Lezeth: Apologies, it's all right.
- 25:09Carmen Lezeth: So you know the show 9-1-1 that you still haven't watched, Rick, because Rick ain't going to watch it.
- 25:16Cynthia Ruiz: You never know.
- 25:16Cynthia Ruiz: I don't know if Rick would like it.
- 25:17Carmen Lezeth: I don't know if he would like it?
- 25:19Rick Costa: Oh, I would give it a season.
- 25:20Carmen Lezeth: I think he would like it because Cap is so religious and there's that angle of it, with Cap being well.
- 25:34Carmen Lezeth: I guess Cap and what's her name, athena, are very religious, but in different ways because they have different religions.
- 25:38Carmen Lezeth: Yeah Right, he's Catholic, she's Baptist or something.
- 25:40Carmen Lezeth: She's like we don't go to church, we do church.
- 25:44Carmen Lezeth: Because he was like do you go to church?
- 25:50Carmen Lezeth: And she was like we don't go to church, we Baptist, we do church.
- 25:53Carmen Lezeth: That was such a great line because it's true, it's so true if you've ever gone to church, to a Baptist church.
- 26:01Carmen Lezeth: So here's the thing.
- 26:02Carmen Lezeth: So 9-1-1 is a show that Cynthia forced me to watch.
- 26:05Carmen Lezeth: She said she would never talk to me again if I didn't watch it.
- 26:08Carmen Lezeth: And of course I got hooked and then I watched the whole series and I fell in love with it and it's really some simple show, but it's fun, great characters.
- 26:14Cynthia Ruiz: To the point, we both got t-shirts from the LAFD.
- 26:19Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I did.
- 26:19Carmen Lezeth: I bought us t-shirts from the LAFD because I wanted to support them.
- 26:24Rick Costa: Was it as good as this t-shirt?
- 26:25Carmen Lezeth: It's not.
- 26:26Carmen Lezeth: It's not.
- 26:26Carmen Lezeth: It's not as good as this t-shirt.
- 26:29Carmen Lezeth: It's not as good as this t-shirt.
- 26:34Carmen Lezeth: Now can I just tell you, cynthia, I almost did a dorky thing, but I'm gonna do it anyway.
- 26:36Carmen Lezeth: I found out where my fireplace is here in los angeles and where I live.
- 26:38Carmen Lezeth: It's four blocks over and their firehouse is so beautiful.
- 26:42Carmen Lezeth: It's like a historical.
- 26:44Carmen Lezeth: Whatever they do and it has, it's just gorgeous.
- 26:47Carmen Lezeth: I'm gonna take a picture of it, send it to you.
- 26:48Carmen Lezeth: It's so beautiful.
- 26:50Carmen Lezeth: I have such respect now for the firemen.
- 26:52Carmen Lezeth: It's so weird don't women usually, though yes, but this is another level you gotta watch the show right you really gotta watch the show because it's like whole other level of love, whole, never level.
- 27:05Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm saying.
- 27:06Carmen Lezeth: So I started, I accidentally, or whatever, was surfing and I was like Chicago fire, what's this Cause?
- 27:13Carmen Lezeth: I saw firemen.
- 27:14Carmen Lezeth: So the difference is they seem to focus more on each character, solely like their relationships, as opposed to the incidents that happen.
- 27:27Carmen Lezeth: And I it's interesting.
- 27:29Carmen Lezeth: You'll have to watch it.
- 27:30Carmen Lezeth: I haven't watched it all and I'm not going to watch it all, but it was interesting.
- 27:33Carmen Lezeth: It's better than Lone Star, but anything's better than being in Texas.
- 27:38Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying, just kidding, I'm just kidding, I don't know.
- 27:45Carmen Lezeth: So this is the last season of 911 Lone Star.
- 27:47Carmen Lezeth: You know that.
- 27:48Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and I think one of the people on the show is not coming back.
- 27:52Carmen Lezeth: They've talked about it the black woman who's at the call center.
- 27:55Carmen Lezeth: She's not and she's, I think she's the whole show in Lone Star.
- 27:58Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I love her.
- 27:59Carmen Lezeth: She's not coming back.
- 27:59Carmen Lezeth: Whatever her name is, she's not coming back.
- 28:01Carmen Lezeth: Grace, that's right, she's not coming back.
- 28:03Carmen Lezeth: And then we have the premiere coming up for 9-1-1, I think in two weeks.
- 28:07Carmen Lezeth: So that should be good.
- 28:08Carmen Lezeth: So, yeah, check out Chicago Fire, it'd be interesting.
- 28:15Carmen Lezeth: The other thing, rick, I wanted to ask you I don't know if Cynthia's seen it yet Deadpool, you guys never had the conversation about.
- 28:21Rick Costa: Deadpool, they still haven't set it up.
- 28:24Carmen Lezeth: But nobody cares anymore.
- 28:25Carmen Lezeth: Everybody's seen it, we all know.
- 28:27Carmen Lezeth: Cynthia, have you seen it?
- 28:29Cynthia Ruiz: Cynthia hasn't seen it yet.
- 28:41Carmen Lezeth: I have not seen it yet, oh no, okay.
- 28:41Rick Costa: Okay, rick, tell me what you think of deadpool, so we can at least have something that we talked about it when it came out.
- 28:44Rick Costa: That was hilarious.
- 28:44Rick Costa: First of all because ryan reynolds is hilarious, he's just really I love him.
- 28:47Carmen Lezeth: Ryan reynolds and hugh jackman together, though, are pretty cool yeah, that's a cool bromance is.
- 28:52Rick Costa: Is that the word they use?
- 28:53Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 28:56Rick Costa: It was really funny.
- 28:57Rick Costa: A lot of cameos.
- 28:57Rick Costa: I don't want to spoil that thing.
- 28:58Carmen Lezeth: But you can spoil it, because when's she going to watch it?
- 29:01Carmen Lezeth: She hasn't watched it by now.
- 29:03Cynthia Ruiz: I know about a lot of the cameos and he made a lot.
- 29:06Cynthia Ruiz: I guess it's a scene where there's a lot of Deadpools and a lot of them are his family, family and friends.
- 29:14Carmen Lezeth: But we can tell you who they all are, because everybody already knows.
- 29:17Carmen Lezeth: Rick, we're not hiding anything, but who was your favorite cameo?
- 29:21Rick Costa: The one thing that I thought was one of the most hysterical things was when I call him Nice Pool, where it's long-haired Ryan Reynolds without the mask.
- 29:31Carmen Lezeth: Oh yeah, the nice guy, and he's with the dog.
- 29:33Rick Costa: Yeah, he has a nasty ugly dog that everybody loves he won most ugly dog or something in real life or whatever he is an ugly dog, but he's cute.
- 29:45Rick Costa: He's so ugly, so one of the funniest parts is, of course, one of Deadpool's sticks is.
- 29:49Rick Costa: He looks at the camera, he talks to the audience, right, and nice Pool goes.
- 29:55Rick Costa: Oh, I could do that too.
- 29:56Rick Costa: The Proposal I'm like, oh my God.
- 29:58Carmen Lezeth: And he's making fun of that movie with Sandra Bullock and having the proposal right, yeah yeah.
- 30:05Rick Costa: Yeah, the woman that played Elektra.
- 30:07Rick Costa: What's her name?
- 30:07Rick Costa: She was married.
- 30:10Carmen Lezeth: She was married.
- 30:12Cynthia Ruiz: She was married to Ben.
- 30:13Carmen Lezeth: Affleck, she was married she was married to ben affleck yeah yeah, yeah.
- 30:17Rick Costa: So it was another funny part where they were like saying like who was dead or alive, whatever?
- 30:20Rick Costa: And they're like oh yeah, daredevil, he died because he used he, ben affleck played daredevil.
- 30:26Rick Costa: And when he said daredevil died, she goes, that's okay because they're divorced uh Matthew McConaughey as Cowboy Dead.
- 30:36Rick Costa: That's true.
- 30:36Rick Costa: That's true.
- 30:37Rick Costa: There are a lot of them.
- 30:38Carmen Lezeth: I think it was good.
- 30:39Carmen Lezeth: I think my favorite I'll say moment in the film I'm just going to say it, and it's not because Hugh Jackman is half naked in it at the end when they're holding on in his shirt, but it's Ryan Reynolds checking him out, I know, the way he looked at it.
- 30:56Carmen Lezeth: Was this true, you're like, this man is like 50, what?
- 30:58Carmen Lezeth: 55 or something?
- 30:59Rick Costa: yeah, he's around our age.
- 31:00Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I mean my age, not your age, carmen and he's fine as all hell, and I just thought it was.
- 31:07Carmen Lezeth: It's just that perfect.
- 31:09Carmen Lezeth: Like you can't even be like oh oh, hugh Jackman is so sexy because Ryan Reynolds just kills that moment in the best, most purest, funniest way you know what I mean.
- 31:18Carmen Lezeth: So that was like one of my favorite moments.
- 31:21Rick Costa: And more than once Deadpool was like Marvel's going to make you be Wolverine until you're 90.
- 31:27Carmen Lezeth: Right, he's going to be Wolverine until he's 90, but he'll pull it off.
- 31:31Carmen Lezeth: I do think that it's very and I know we've all seen Deadpool, the first one, the second one, whatever it's extremely violent.
- 31:40Carmen Lezeth: Even as I sat there I was like this because I couldn't.
- 31:43Carmen Lezeth: I know it's supposed to be funny, but there is something really gross about it all.
- 31:49Carmen Lezeth: It's just so much the violence.
- 31:54Rick Costa: There's one part where Chris Evans comes in and they're thinking he's captain america because, he played so good he plays both.
- 31:58Rick Costa: He played johnny storm in fantastic four way back when and then, later he became captain america and then deadpool's looking at him because he's covered up.
- 32:05Rick Costa: He doesn't know what he's wearing I just want to know.
- 32:08Carmen Lezeth: Rick wasn't going to spoil this for you, but that was the best, the best part of the movie.
- 32:12Rick Costa: You keep saying she ain't going to watch it.
- 32:14Cynthia Ruiz: Rick's like well, this is probably the best part of the movie by the way it is a Disney production.
- 32:19Rick Costa: Cynthia, I'm just saying, you're a Disney head, so I'm just saying it's not Marvel she's into, but God he is.
- 32:26Rick Costa: Anyway, they're talking to Chris Evans, who they don't know is not Captain America, but actually Johnny Storm.
- 32:32Rick Costa: And Wolverine is standing there with two swords inside of him, just standing there like it's nothing.
- 32:36Rick Costa: You gonna pull them things out one day.
- 32:39Rick Costa: But Deadpool's all excited because he's like Johnny Storm, who he thinks is Captain America.
- 32:44Rick Costa: He's gonna say it, he's gonna say Avengers Assemble, he's gonna say it, and then he's like flame on and he's like huh.
- 32:52Carmen Lezeth: And then he goes into the air.
- 32:54Carmen Lezeth: It's just really funny.
- 32:56Rick Costa: So many funny parts.
- 32:57Rick Costa: Oh my God, they did a good job.
- 32:59Carmen Lezeth: I was glad I went to the theater and saw it.
- 33:01Carmen Lezeth: It was good.
- 33:01Carmen Lezeth: I didn't see it with a lot of people.
- 33:03Carmen Lezeth: There were some people because I saw it days afterwards.
- 33:05Rick Costa: But very violent.
- 33:06Rick Costa: So forewarning, I don't know why people were all again.
- 33:10Carmen Lezeth: I get so upset with the whole pearl clutching religious crap, like so many people were on TikTok, being like don't go see it because Ryan Reynolds calls himself Marvel Jesus throughout the whole thing.
- 33:23Carmen Lezeth: I am Marvel Jesus.
- 33:24Carmen Lezeth: He's being sticky, he's being funny, he's not being literal, but it's so weird how people take things.
- 33:31Carmen Lezeth: It's almost like the Olympics, the opening of the Olympics.
- 33:33Carmen Lezeth: People got all upset, all their panties in a bunch pearl clutching, because they're like they're making fun of the Last Supper.
- 33:41Carmen Lezeth: No, they were not.
- 33:42Carmen Lezeth: Not at all, not even a little bit.
- 33:46Carmen Lezeth: Different artists, different scenes.
- 33:47Carmen Lezeth: How did you miss the blue man in the front?
- 33:49Carmen Lezeth: There was no blue man lying down at the last supper with Jesus, from when I remember it all.
- 33:56Carmen Lezeth: But everybody is so angst, right, everybody's so amped up to be angry all the time.
- 34:02Carmen Lezeth: So instead of thinking like maybe I don't understand what's going on, would they literally be making fun of the last supper at the Olympics in France?
- 34:11Carmen Lezeth: Instead of thinking that through and being like maybe I'm making a mistake and thinking this is something other than what it was, they just went with it.
- 34:19Carmen Lezeth: I it just.
- 34:20Carmen Lezeth: It blew my mind.
- 34:21Carmen Lezeth: I couldn't even believe it and you know this was 12 years of Catholic school here.
- 34:25Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 34:26Carmen Lezeth: Can you guys hear all that noise in the background?
- 34:28Rick Costa: No no.
- 34:29Rick Costa: Okay, cool.
- 34:31Carmen Lezeth: Really, you didn't hear just that?
- 34:33Rick Costa: Mm-mm.
- 34:35Rick Costa: All right, you have the noise reduction setting on Because mine's working pretty good.
- 34:38Rick Costa: Y'all didn't even realize my air conditioner was on.
- 34:41Carmen Lezeth: That's probably why your stupid internet's going in and out.
- 34:45Rick Costa: No, I'm just kidding.
- 34:47Rick Costa: Anyway, there's a lot more cameos I did not mention, so you won't be spoiled by everything.
- 34:53Carmen Lezeth: But it's so funny how rich I don't want to spoil anything.
- 34:54Carmen Lezeth: And then the minute I'm like, hey, everybody see these.
- 34:56Carmen Lezeth: Okay, let me tell you the most important part.
- 34:58Carmen Lezeth: It really is the one.
- 35:00Carmen Lezeth: I think that was one of the most surprising parts.
- 35:02Carmen Lezeth: I was not expecting chris evans to be in it, yeah, and then the flip that it wasn't captain america.
- 35:07Rick Costa: You know what I mean and then the end credit scenes.
- 35:10Rick Costa: That was like whoa, okay, you know what?
- 35:11Carmen Lezeth: You know what was weird, though?
- 35:12Carmen Lezeth: I of course sat, Because I always sit through all credits of every movie, Because I live in this town and I want to be respectful.
- 35:19Carmen Lezeth: Plus, I always hope I can see a name I know or something.
- 35:22Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 35:22Carmen Lezeth: But people actually got up and left and I'm like, ooh, you're not real Marvel people.
- 35:27Cynthia Ruiz: Are you new, right?
- 35:28Cynthia Ruiz: Every Marvel movie has a scene at the end.
- 35:31Cynthia Ruiz: You don't leave.
- 35:33Cynthia Ruiz: Sometimes they have two scenes.
- 35:34Cynthia Ruiz: Yeah, you don't leave.
- 35:37Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, so it was weird.
- 35:38Carmen Lezeth: So, yeah, that was good.
- 35:39Carmen Lezeth: It was good, though, mm-hmm, it was good.
- 35:46Rick Costa: I'm glad we got to talk a little bit about Deadpool, because I feel like we've been chasing Since late night.
- 35:50Carmen Lezeth: Parents can't do it.
- 35:50Carmen Lezeth: But they were all saying they were going to have a show, they were going to do it, they were going to get together.
- 35:54Carmen Lezeth: And then number one Friday or something I was like are you guys doing it?
- 35:57Carmen Lezeth: Because I was going to go and watch.
- 35:58Carmen Lezeth: And then you said you hadn't heard from Ted or anybody yet.
- 36:00Carmen Lezeth: But I wonder why.
- 36:04Rick Costa: I don't know, maybe just schedule conflicts, I don't know.
- 36:07Carmen Lezeth: I'm just saying that's one of those things you kind of want to do when it's out.
- 36:10Rick Costa: Yeah strike while the iron's hot.
- 36:15Carmen Lezeth: So I'm going to bring up this other thing.
- 36:16Carmen Lezeth: It's kind of a downer, but we can have a conversation about it.
- 36:19Carmen Lezeth: So I don't know if you guys it's not a downer, it's just something.
- 36:22Carmen Lezeth: Remember last week?
- 36:23Carmen Lezeth: Oh no, we weren't on last week, right?
- 36:25Carmen Lezeth: No?
- 36:26Cynthia Ruiz: Why weren't we on last week DNC?
- 36:28Cynthia Ruiz: Oh, that's right.
- 36:30Carmen Lezeth: Democratic National Convention was on.
- 36:33Carmen Lezeth: That's right.
- 36:34Carmen Lezeth: The music was off the hook, Rick was it you Was it.
- 36:37Carmen Lezeth: You.
- 36:37Carmen Lezeth: You were like is it always so much music?
- 36:42Rick Costa: Are these things always so musical?
- 36:47Cynthia Ruiz: I love watching the TikToks when they were comparing the RNC and DNC.
- 36:51Rick Costa: Oh, yeah, carmen sent me one of those and I was like, see, that's how I thought it was going to be the other one.
- 36:57Carmen Lezeth: They had a DJ, they tested the waters and it worked to have just more music instead of all that kind of old school stuff.
- 37:05Carmen Lezeth: They did the church.
- 37:06Carmen Lezeth: The church, that's right.
- 37:09Carmen Lezeth: They did the church.
- 37:09Rick Costa: What was the controversy with Beyonce?
- 37:11Rick Costa: Because they were like oh, she wasn't even there, it wasn't a controversy.
- 37:15Carmen Lezeth: Somebody leaked I'm doing quotes, air quotes that she was going to be there when Vice President Harris came out on stage to give her acceptance speech on Thursday night.
- 37:25Carmen Lezeth: But it was a rumor.
- 37:27Carmen Lezeth: It wasn't true and I think she was in New York or like with her husband or something, having dinner.
- 37:34Carmen Lezeth: And finally, her publicity.
- 37:36Carmen Lezeth: People came out and said we are not coming to the blah, blah, blah.
- 37:39Carmen Lezeth: So it wasn't.
- 37:40Carmen Lezeth: I think people were hoping that her or Taylor Swift it was like Taylor Swift for a minute we're going to come out.
- 37:45Carmen Lezeth: There were enough.
- 37:46Carmen Lezeth: We have enough celebrities.
- 37:48Carmen Lezeth: We don't need celebrities.
- 37:49Carmen Lezeth: What we need is what was happening, which I thought was the music was great For people who didn't watch the DNC.
- 37:57Carmen Lezeth: The roll call that happens, which is when the delegates announce what delegates, how many delegates, are being.
- 38:02Carmen Lezeth: It's really ceremonial.
- 38:04Carmen Lezeth: It's not really like we already know that she's the nominee at this point, right, but it's kind of a ceremonial thing and every state comes out and says we give you you know, we're from california we give you 434 delegates, or whatever it is this.
- 38:20Carmen Lezeth: Usually it's really boring, but you watch it because you wait for your state and somebody might say something cool because the person who speaks.
- 38:27Carmen Lezeth: That's like a voted on thing.
- 38:28Carmen Lezeth: It's an honor to speak and give the delegates and people who are really into politics really love this part of it.
- 38:34Carmen Lezeth: Like the geek people, I usually just sit through it because you know I want to watch it.
- 38:38Carmen Lezeth: This year they had a song that represented every single state.
- 38:43Carmen Lezeth: So, for example, michigan had Eminem song, which is you know?
- 38:47Carmen Lezeth: What is it?
- 38:50Carmen Lezeth: You guys don't know Eminem song.
- 38:53Carmen Lezeth: I don't know the name of it.
- 38:54Carmen Lezeth: We had Dr Dre and Kendrick Lamar.
- 38:58Carmen Lezeth: You know every state we had Dropkick Murphys.
- 39:01Cynthia Ruiz: Which one Dropkick Murphys?
- 39:04Carmen Lezeth: Yes, like everybody had a every state and all the artists had to say that was okay, which was the other thing that I can't believe.
- 39:12Carmen Lezeth: You know, bruce Springsteen, there was just every artist.
- 39:16Carmen Lezeth: Anyway, it was amazing and it was really fun to watch and listen to.
- 39:20Carmen Lezeth: And now the DNC has that whole playlist.
- 39:22Carmen Lezeth: You can go on Spotify or wherever you listen to music and get the playlist.
- 39:27Carmen Lezeth: And the playlist is actually really good because it's all these great songs we all grew up with and love.
- 39:33Carmen Lezeth: So, yeah, it was really fun.
- 39:34Carmen Lezeth: It was good, that's right, and I we didn't have the show that week, but two weeks ago about parenting, parenting.
- 39:44Carmen Lezeth: Remember, we said this is why, late night, parents should have actually, uh, they should talk about parenting once in a while.
- 39:50Carmen Lezeth: And I got upset about how parents really suck.
- 39:53Carmen Lezeth: Okay, so the surgeon general of the United States his name is Murphy, Last name is Murphy M-U-R-T-H-Y.
- 40:00Carmen Lezeth: If you saw his face you'd know who he is.
- 40:02Carmen Lezeth: But he did an interview and he was talking about they didn't there's an article, but they also did a podcast and he was talking about surgeon general addresses, growing stress and mental health struggles facing parents today, and he was talking about Surgeon General addresses, growing stress and mental health struggles facing parents today.
- 40:16Carmen Lezeth: And he said this is the quote I love.
- 40:18Carmen Lezeth: He said the truth is, parenting is and has always really been a team sport and what he's talking about is like neighbors and aunties and uncles, and I think we have lost a lot of that.
- 40:31Carmen Lezeth: I think that's why kids are so messed up right now.
- 40:34Carmen Lezeth: But I was wondering what you guys might have thought.
- 40:37Carmen Lezeth: I know you haven't read the article or whatever, but just going off of that little bit, did you guys grow up knowing that you had a lot of people around you you could go to or not?
- 40:45Carmen Lezeth: You guys know I did.
- 40:51Cynthia Ruiz: Yes and no.
- 40:51Cynthia Ruiz: I did have some people that I could go to, but it was a very small amount of people, maybe three or four people that I could really go to.
- 41:02Cynthia Ruiz: But who were they?
- 41:03Carmen Lezeth: always go to them but who were they in your life?
- 41:07Carmen Lezeth: I don't mean the actual names.
- 41:08Carmen Lezeth: Was it a teacher was?
- 41:09Carmen Lezeth: Was it your uncle?
- 41:11Carmen Lezeth: Was it your Teresa?
- 41:13Cynthia Ruiz: is one of them, mm-hmm, my godmother Teresa's your godmother?
- 41:17Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I did not know that.
- 41:19Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I didn't know, I didn't know.
- 41:22Carmen Lezeth: Let's see One of my.
- 41:24Carmen Lezeth: She's actually your cousin.
- 41:25Carmen Lezeth: So that's the point.
- 41:26Carmen Lezeth: You have somebody else, but you see her as an aunt?
- 41:30Cynthia Ruiz: I do see her you don't have to name names.
- 41:38Cynthia Ruiz: My siblings, yeah, mostly my, yeah, my siblings, my two sisters and my brother, but do you?
- 41:46Carmen Lezeth: feel okay.
- 41:46Carmen Lezeth: So this is what the article and the conversation was about.
- 41:48Carmen Lezeth: That it was more about.
- 41:50Carmen Lezeth: There were so many other people that had a say in how you were raised.
- 41:53Carmen Lezeth: So here's a great example.
- 41:55Carmen Lezeth: I remember when I was real little cause my mother was still alive I was at, we went to school Blessed Sacrament, right, it was like my first year of school.
- 42:02Carmen Lezeth: I went to St Patrick's.
- 42:03Carmen Lezeth: So second, third year I started at Blessed Sacrament and I remember I got in trouble and they called my mother and my mother came to the school, right, cause they, whatever.
- 42:13Carmen Lezeth: And my mother yelled at me because because I did something wrong, right.
- 42:19Carmen Lezeth: But now what it seems to be is the parents come into the school and they yell at the teacher for reprimanding the kids.
- 42:26Carmen Lezeth: Do you guys know what I'm talking about?
- 42:28Carmen Lezeth: Like it just always.
- 42:29Carmen Lezeth: It seems like the dynamic has changed.
- 42:31Carmen Lezeth: Like I got in trouble because I was disrespectful to the teacher or whatever.
- 42:35Carmen Lezeth: Blah, blah, blah.
- 42:36Carmen Lezeth: Like I thought I never thought for one moment my mother coming to the school was going to be my saving grace.
- 42:46Cynthia Ruiz: You know what I mean.
- 42:47Cynthia Ruiz: Like thought I never thought for one moment my mother coming to the school was going to be my saving grace.
- 42:49Cynthia Ruiz: Like I was gonna be in trouble because growing up going and especially going to bless sacrament we had nuns so we were always getting reprimanded by our teachers, and so if the teachers are calling our parents and you know, and our mom comes to the school, like they obviously know we did something wrong so we're getting yelled at, it's like these kids are being taught by young teachers themselves.
- 43:07Cynthia Ruiz: So these teachers are yelling back at the children kind of.
- 43:10Cynthia Ruiz: I feel like they're kind of, I guess, in a better I don't know how to say it but basically lowering themselves to the child standard and they're arguing back rather than being the adult and reprimanding them in a different way.
- 43:28Carmen Lezeth: So you're actually taking the side of the kid.
- 43:31Cynthia Ruiz: Not, it's not really, but kind of, because I have seen videos and I have seen it for myself.
- 43:41Cynthia Ruiz: Like a lot of these kids will defend themselves because the teacher can be rude, Like I've seen videos of teachers being rude to children in certain ways, yelling at them or whatever the case may be, rather than them being an adult and actually addressing the child differently, is it?
- 43:59Carmen Lezeth: possible that the teachers have?
- 44:01Carmen Lezeth: I'm taking the.
- 44:03Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to take the defense of the teachers for a moment.
- 44:05Carmen Lezeth: Is it possible that teachers have lost so much ability and authority to do anything?
- 44:11Carmen Lezeth: Because you can't reprimand any kids to do anything, you can't take away their cell phone.
- 44:16Carmen Lezeth: You know, in California they just passed a law that kids cannot use their cell phones in school anymore.
- 44:21Carmen Lezeth: Good, see how that goes.
- 44:23Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, that's going to be interesting.
- 44:24Carmen Lezeth: It's already being implemented this year, which will be fascinating to see how that happens.
- 44:30Cynthia Ruiz: But no, yeah, no, it is true.
- 44:31Cynthia Ruiz: These teachers are getting frustrated that they can't say certain things to these kids because the parents will go in and yell at the teacher things to these kids because the parents will go in and yell at the teacher.
- 44:40Cynthia Ruiz: Look, let's be honest when.
- 44:42Carmen Lezeth: I was going to school.
- 44:43Carmen Lezeth: I don't know about you, but I remember, like sister Alfonza.
- 44:46Carmen Lezeth: I'll never forget her.
- 44:46Carmen Lezeth: She would grab you by the ear and pull you.
- 44:49Carmen Lezeth: She used to take a ruler and slap your hand.
- 44:52Carmen Lezeth: She didn't slap my hand, but these were different times.
- 44:58Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 44:59Carmen Lezeth: I remember being like these people are abusing us Nobody cared.
- 45:02Cynthia Ruiz: Our parents did not care.
- 45:03Cynthia Ruiz: I got slapped in the hand because I'm a lefty.
- 45:06Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, no, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 45:09Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I got in trouble because I was doing cartwheels, because I had shorts underneath my dress, because you had to wear a uniform.
- 45:15Carmen Lezeth: I went to school so you had to wear that checkered ugly outfit and remember that jumper thing.
- 45:20Carmen Lezeth: And then you wanted you couldn't wait till seventh grade because you could wear the vest, but I used to wear shorts.
- 45:29Carmen Lezeth: All of us wore shorts under our skirts.
- 45:31Carmen Lezeth: So I was doing trouble for that, like big time trouble for doing cartwheels because I wasn't ladylike.
- 45:36Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's definitely different times.
- 45:41Carmen Lezeth: I see rick being very quiet no, I was just thinking about.
- 45:44Rick Costa: My past was like very different.
- 45:46Rick Costa: Let's say I was at a neighbor's house and I did something stupid and the neighbor said your son just blah, blah, blah.
- 45:50Rick Costa: My father be like, beat him and let him know when he comes here he's gonna get beat again oh my god, oh yeah, yeah, that's what I'm saying.
- 45:59Cynthia Ruiz: Like nowadays, these parents are not allowing the teachers to reprimand them or put them in their place, rather than they can't get fired right exactly right, because now it's like all this stuff, oh, I'll call the cops on you and blah, blah, blah.
- 46:15Carmen Lezeth: The kids are threatening the teachers and the teachers are getting fed up, so they're lowering themselves to the kids, you know, and yelling at them or I'll say this and I hope Andrea doesn't get mad but Andrea was a teacher for a minute because she was so annoyed at the system and that was like 25 years ago, like she would have been the best teacher you could have ever had.
- 46:34Carmen Lezeth: But even she was there for I don't even know how long I want to say a year or two, and it might have been longer, but it was a short period of time.
- 46:40Carmen Lezeth: She's one of those people that you would want to be a teacher, really wanted to do it, and she really loves kids and she's really great at explaining things, blah, blah.
- 46:48Carmen Lezeth: All the reasons why and she was like this is not worth it.
- 46:51Carmen Lezeth: That was years ago.
- 46:54Carmen Lezeth: I can't imagine how bad it is now.
- 46:56Carmen Lezeth: I give love to teachers, but I do think that it's a tough profession, especially because we do not pay them well.
- 47:04Carmen Lezeth: We also I mean I think it was Snoop Dogg and everyone knows I'm upset with him right now but one of these is one of these celebrities was making a point I don't know if it was him, but was saying we should not be applauding that people are buying supplies for teachers on Amazon, like.
- 47:21Carmen Lezeth: You know how teachers have Amazon lists Like.
- 47:23Carmen Lezeth: So you can go on amazoncom and teachers all over the country have their wishlist for their classrooms.
- 47:29Carmen Lezeth: It really should not be that way.
- 47:32Carmen Lezeth: Teachers should not have to be asking the public to pay for general supplies for their school rooms.
- 47:42Carmen Lezeth: It's weird.
- 47:43Carmen Lezeth: And back when we were growing up and I was going to school, I know Alice McIntyre was buying stuff out of her own pocket.
- 47:49Carmen Lezeth: Right, she was one of our lay teachers at Blessed Sacrament.
- 47:52Carmen Lezeth: She was one of the best teachers ever and the classroom was always decorated.
- 47:56Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean?
- 47:57Carmen Lezeth: We always had the best plays and books and all these things that didn't come with regular textbooks or whatever, because she would buy them out of her own pocket and make sure that we had a great experience.
- 48:08Carmen Lezeth: You know, ted just said my wife is a retired teacher.
- 48:11Carmen Lezeth: Talk about a thankless job.
- 48:13Carmen Lezeth: Wow, oh, ted.
- 48:15Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, the weird thing is I don't understand why we have such a bad attitude about teachers.
- 48:23Carmen Lezeth: Our kids are there for at least 8 hours a day.
- 48:28Carmen Lezeth: 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
- 48:32Carmen Lezeth: They are really doing the job of raising your children.
- 48:36Carmen Lezeth: They are and not to be corny, not to be corny.
- 48:39Rick Costa: But I believe the children are our future.
- 48:40Rick Costa: They are, and not to be corny, but I believe the children are our future, they are.
- 48:45Cynthia Ruiz: Yeah, absolutely.
- 48:47Cynthia Ruiz: And look, during COVID, all these parents were stressing out because they had to be home with their kids and teach their kids and they were getting frustrated with their kids and it's so good.
- 48:58Cynthia Ruiz: Now you know how the teachers feel.
- 49:01Rick Costa: Now you understand what a brat your little baby is exactly baby kids.
- 49:06Carmen Lezeth: It's just really it is a thankless job.
- 49:08Carmen Lezeth: I think it's a terrible situation.
- 49:10Carmen Lezeth: I look at I, I think teachers.
- 49:12Carmen Lezeth: I don't understand why we don't pay teachers more money.
- 49:14Carmen Lezeth: I also believe if we had higher criteria for police officers, we'd have better policing, if they got paid a decent wage and had to go to school first, instead of the six-month training that they take and then have a gun in their hand.
- 49:27Carmen Lezeth: These jobs that I think are the most vital in our society are the ones we pay the least and give the least amount of support to, and then we complain about it when all these things go wrong.
- 49:38Carmen Lezeth: Right, and so teachers and cops are on my list of things we do wrong as a society.
- 49:44Carmen Lezeth: So yeah, and then I know we're almost at 60 minutes.
- 49:48Rick Costa: Rick's about to be like one hour, I wasn't even thinking about it.
- 49:52Carmen Lezeth: Honestly, I know, but I just I think if, look, if you could make a hundred, $150,000 a year as a teacher, I would have been a teacher in a heartbeat.
- 50:02Carmen Lezeth: I love kids, I would have loved to do it.
- 50:04Carmen Lezeth: But the idea that you would make like $40,000 and then you're babysitting, really because you can't really teach.
- 50:14Carmen Lezeth: You can't teach 50 kids in a classroom.
- 50:17Rick Costa: No, not effective, Not that many.
- 50:24Carmen Lezeth: And that's why so many people have kids in private school, Like Billy has his kids in private school and I get it.
- 50:27Carmen Lezeth: He didn't want to.
- 50:28Carmen Lezeth: He wanted them to stay in public school, but it's.
- 50:30Carmen Lezeth: You can't risk that, and if you have the money to send them to private school.
- 50:33Carmen Lezeth: I'm not talking about Catholic school.
- 50:35Carmen Lezeth: That's not what I mean.
- 50:36Carmen Lezeth: I'm not trying to act like our school was that great.
- 50:41Carmen Lezeth: All we learned was what religion and math.
- 50:44Carmen Lezeth: I think that was it.
- 50:45Carmen Lezeth: That's it, and not even very well, by the way, cause I suck at math.
- 50:52Rick Costa: Me too actually.
- 50:53Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I don't think we really learned, and I have a lot of questions about religion.
- 50:58Cynthia Ruiz: Thank you, thank you but.
- 51:00Carmen Lezeth: I mean, but you did learn something that I think a lot of people didn't learn, and I don't know where people learn this now but you did learn discipline.
- 51:07Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, you did learn about respect, you did learn about boundaries, you did, and those are the things, those are the skills we need.
- 51:16Carmen Lezeth: I'm not saying they're the only skills we need, but definitely lacking in those.
- 51:21Carmen Lezeth: Now, rick, what did you say?
- 51:22Carmen Lezeth: Because you froze for a second.
- 51:25Rick Costa: No, I don't think I said anything.
- 51:26Rick Costa: I think a lack of respect for authority is huge nowadays.
- 51:31Rick Costa: The kids just don't care.
- 51:32Rick Costa: You ain't my mother, you're my father.
- 51:35Carmen Lezeth: Where do you think that comes from, though?
- 51:38Rick Costa: I think that starts at home, though.
- 51:39Rick Costa: First you got to teach them, kids, to respect their elders, and they don't care because they're on this all day.
- 51:45Carmen Lezeth: This is their world and we're going back to where we started.
- 51:49Carmen Lezeth: Yeah.
- 51:50Rick Costa: My best friend.
- 51:51Rick Costa: So his kids just started school this week and like this is insane, the buses don't know what they're doing.
- 51:57Rick Costa: He's got two girls, one in one school, another another school, so and they get off at different times, but and they just went yesterday was the first day, I think and he calls the school.
- 52:07Rick Costa: He's like where's my daughter?
- 52:08Rick Costa: I don't know, and they're very he like, he was like they're very nonchalant about it.
- 52:13Rick Costa: He's I need to be wherever my daughter's gonna be how old are they?
- 52:16Carmen Lezeth: how old are the kids?
- 52:17Rick Costa: he just started sixth grade, the oldest one one.
- 52:19Rick Costa: Oh that's too young.
- 52:20Rick Costa: Yeah.
- 52:21Rick Costa: And then he's.
- 52:22Rick Costa: I got to pick up the other one too.
- 52:23Rick Costa: A little while you can't be just nonchalant about it.
- 52:25Rick Costa: Where are they?
- 52:26Rick Costa: I'm sorry, I'm no longer Christian, but I'm about to go off of these people, right now.
- 52:29Rick Costa: And he was mad.
- 52:32Rick Costa: So then, as a result, one of the women said just call her on her cell phone.
- 52:37Rick Costa: She ain't got no cell phone.
- 52:38Rick Costa: So now he bought her a cell phone.
- 52:41Cynthia Ruiz: Yeah, Let me tell you one thing that my daughter did with her son when he started Actually when he started pre-K she got an air tag and she pins the air tag on the inside of his pants so she can track wherever he is and on the bus.
- 52:59Carmen Lezeth: At all times yeah.
- 53:01Cynthia Ruiz: At all times, so she knows where he is.
- 53:03Cynthia Ruiz: So any parents listening?
- 53:05Carmen Lezeth: get air tags, attach them to your kids pants for those people who don't know what air tags are literally they're for luggage.
- 53:12Carmen Lezeth: I think that's how they started.
- 53:13Carmen Lezeth: I don't know, but they're little things you can get and they you tag them to the clothing or whatever and whatever item you have and it's on your cell phone.
- 53:22Cynthia Ruiz: They have iPhones and Androids.
- 53:23Rick Costa: It's like a GPS tracker.
- 53:25Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, it's a GPS tracker.
- 53:26Carmen Lezeth: Ted just said both of my kids in these private school, expensive as hell never trusted public school.
- 53:31Carmen Lezeth: I think that's the struggle right.
- 53:34Carmen Lezeth: So, billy, I remember him having the conversation of we want to support public schools because every child should have a good education and our property taxes pay for a lot of things.
- 53:46Carmen Lezeth: This is the taxes that we pay.
- 53:48Carmen Lezeth: This is what you want your taxes to go to the public schools, so schools can be free, so everyone can get a good education.
- 53:55Carmen Lezeth: So we complain about taxes, but this is what it should be for.
- 53:58Carmen Lezeth: This is the thing that I don't think anyone would argue with.
- 54:02Carmen Lezeth: So, yes, if you can afford to send your kid to a good school, because the public schools suck, because we don't pay people enough, because we don't support them enough, of course you're going to send them to a private school.
- 54:15Carmen Lezeth: I ain't going to be mad at no parents about it.
- 54:17Carmen Lezeth: But this is the problem, this is the issue, and here's the great thing about public school is there's so much diversity in economic status, in people of different cultures and different ethnicities and different backgrounds, and that's what you want in this world.
- 54:34Carmen Lezeth: When you start going to private school, all of a sudden it's the haves and the have nots.
- 54:39Carmen Lezeth: So people who got the money are all in the, and this is how it begins.
- 54:43Carmen Lezeth: All the clicks begin here, all the networking begins here.
- 54:46Carmen Lezeth: But you do it because you want your kids to have the best education possible.
- 54:50Carmen Lezeth: But just see the logic right.
- 54:52Carmen Lezeth: So I, if I had children, they would always be in private school.
- 54:55Carmen Lezeth: But that doesn't mean I don't want to fix the public school issue.
- 55:00Carmen Lezeth: You know, and I agree with you, rick.
- 55:02Carmen Lezeth: I look at getting back to what the Surgeon General was saying, and I hate to use the cliche thing, but it does take can talk to them badly, no one can do anything to them, they are perfect and blah, blah, blah.
- 55:23Carmen Lezeth: They all get participation trophies, blah, blah, blah, and nobody else can say a thing about them, whereas when I was growing up, everybody and their mother had a say in everything any kid did in the neighborhood.
- 55:34Carmen Lezeth: Now I think there has to be a happy medium.
- 55:38Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 55:39Carmen Lezeth: There needs to be like a balance there.
- 55:40Carmen Lezeth: But I think and again, I'm not a parent.
- 55:44Carmen Lezeth: This is why I feel very comfortable saying this I think the problem with our children today is all of our faults adults, parents and all the adults around them together.
- 55:56Carmen Lezeth: It is our fault.
- 55:57Carmen Lezeth: We're failing them.
- 55:58Carmen Lezeth: It's our fault.
- 56:00Carmen Lezeth: Kids are attached to their cell phones because we've made it so uninteresting to do anything else.
- 56:07Carmen Lezeth: Kids don't go outside to play.
- 56:10Carmen Lezeth: Kids don't hang out with their friends on the corner, or you know what I mean.
- 56:14Carmen Lezeth: Like they don't ride their bikes anywhere.
- 56:16Carmen Lezeth: Everything is a play date.
- 56:18Carmen Lezeth: Everything is so structured because you're all paranoid that something's going to happen to your kid.
- 56:23Carmen Lezeth: What's happening to your kid is happening in your own house.
- 56:27Rick Costa: Yeah, and a lot of parents.
- 56:28Rick Costa: I understand we're all busy, but if your kid needs attention, for God's sake, you're their parent.
- 56:33Rick Costa: Give them attention.
- 56:33Rick Costa: But I see a lot of people like just grab your tablet and watch some YouTube.
- 56:35Rick Costa: I'm busy right now.
- 56:36Rick Costa: They need you and watch some YouTube.
- 56:37Rick Costa: I'm busy right now.
- 56:42Carmen Lezeth: They need you.
- 56:43Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I think one of the things that was great about Baata, who's one of my dearest friends and is the mother of Juliana they had Juliana trying everything Like first they thought she was going to be a musician because she loved playing this electric guitar thing and she got bored with that, then the piano, and then it was like she was going to do karate.
- 57:00Carmen Lezeth: And they never once they never got mad at her for wanting it, because kids do that.
- 57:05Carmen Lezeth: They got to figure out their thing.
- 57:06Carmen Lezeth: They got to figure out their thing, and it was always like it wasn't spoiling her.
- 57:10Carmen Lezeth: It was like okay, but if we're going to pay for this, you're going to loves it and it's like her thing.
- 57:13Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean, and I thought that was also kind of a cool thing, whereas I've seen so many parents get so upset because you are, I guess, in a way, if you look at it that way wasting money.
- 57:31Carmen Lezeth: You know I'm going to waste all this money sending my kid to ballet lessons and then they're never going to go or they're not going to be, they're not really good or whatever, and I'm like you're missing the point.
- 57:40Carmen Lezeth: Give your kid an activity to do that has nothing to do with the screen, watching a movie or being on YouTube or whatever it is.
- 57:50Carmen Lezeth: You're missing the point.
- 57:51Carmen Lezeth: They're interacting with other kids.
- 57:53Carmen Lezeth: They're meeting people.
- 57:53Carmen Lezeth: They're learning pros and cons.
- 57:55Carmen Lezeth: They're winning and losing.
- 57:57Carmen Lezeth: They're learning how to interact with other people.
- 58:03Carmen Lezeth: It's not about they're going to become a cellist or whatever.
- 58:06Carmen Lezeth: Not everyone is born Mozart, play the piano.
- 58:08Carmen Lezeth: Just let them do these things and explore, not because you think they're going to become the next Beyonce or Whitney Houston, but because you want them to be good and decent, wonderful, beautiful spirits, and that's part of it.
- 58:20Rick Costa: And how do you know what you're good at unless you try different things?
- 58:23Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm saying.
- 58:24Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, and I know people ain't got a lot of money, it's not about money.
- 58:28Carmen Lezeth: The most important things I ever did had nothing to do with money had to do with my mother asking me questions about the TV shows I had watched, because we were latchkey kids.
- 58:38Carmen Lezeth: Were you a latchkey kid?
- 58:39Carmen Lezeth: If you're gen x, latchkey kids were.
- 58:42Carmen Lezeth: Basically you came home, nobody was home.
- 58:43Carmen Lezeth: You had a key around your neck so it was like called a latchkey kid and you would come home and wait until your parents came home, whatever.
- 58:49Carmen Lezeth: So a lot of gen xers are latchkey kids.
- 58:52Carmen Lezeth: So you know my mom would come home and she would ask me questions about what show I watched and having that talk about what the show meant.
- 59:01Carmen Lezeth: And I knew what shows I could.
- 59:03Carmen Lezeth: And it's so funny because now I realize she could not, she couldn't tell what shows I watched, but because that's the discipline I had, my mother was like don't let me see that you were watching something else other than what I told you you could watch.
- 59:14Carmen Lezeth: You know what I mean.
- 59:15Cynthia Ruiz: And I was like okay, I would never turn the channel or anything.
- 59:21Cynthia Ruiz: You always thought she was watching you.
- 59:24Carmen Lezeth: Even after that woman passed away.
- 59:25Carmen Lezeth: May she rest in peace.
- 59:26Carmen Lezeth: Yesterday was the anniversary oh was it.
- 59:29Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, yeah, and today is Steve's anniversary.
- 59:33Carmen Lezeth: Okay, I don't want to get sad, but I'm just saying yeah.
- 59:35Carmen Lezeth: But yeah, I used to think, even after she passed away for like years, that she could see me.
- 59:40Carmen Lezeth: It's people always like you didn't do drugs at all.
- 59:42Carmen Lezeth: I'm like to this day.
- 59:45Carmen Lezeth: I swear to God she would come out.
- 59:48Carmen Lezeth: I told you never, but yeah.
- 59:51Carmen Lezeth: I really had the fear of God in me.
- 59:53Rick Costa: Now this one is triggered.
- 59:54Rick Costa: This song is triggered, but now I'm thinking of I always feel like somebody's watching me that wasn't Michael Jackson, but it was someone.
- 1:00:02Rick Costa: Rockwell, no Rockwell.
- 1:00:03Rick Costa: Yeah, that sounds right, maybe.
- 1:00:06Cynthia Ruiz: I think it was Rockwell.
- 1:00:08Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, rockwell, yeah, I remember that song.
- 1:00:10Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, but I used to think that, I used to think she could see me and, oh my God, I was so afraid.
- 1:00:15Carmen Lezeth: I walked in fear as a child.
- 1:00:18Carmen Lezeth: Let me tell you I really did, and that's what I want for all children today.
- 1:00:23Carmen Lezeth: No, I'm just kidding.
- 1:00:24Carmen Lezeth: I'm just kidding.
- 1:00:25Carmen Lezeth: No, there's got to be a happy medium.
- 1:00:28Rick Costa: I saw this video I want to discuss real quick, really cute.
- 1:00:32Carmen Lezeth: Is it the one you sent me?
- 1:00:33Carmen Lezeth: Because we're not going to talk about it because it was stupid.
- 1:00:35Rick Costa: No, I said it was cute.
- 1:00:36Rick Costa: That was not cute.
- 1:00:42Carmen Lezeth: That was a mess wait have I approved of this message okay no, it's all right, rick, I will let you do this one time okay, so anyway because if it's about religion, I'm gonna be mad oh no, so it was a couple, the wife's are you gonna show?
- 1:00:58Rick Costa: it, just show it.
- 1:00:59Rick Costa: No, I don't have it ready, I don't have it ready, I don't have it ready.
- 1:01:01Rick Costa: Oh, look at me, I'm like I can just explain it.
- 1:01:02Rick Costa: No, I'm just going to explain it because it was really cute.
- 1:01:04Rick Costa: Okay, go ahead.
- 1:01:04Rick Costa: So there's a couple and the wife's pregnant, and the water broke, so they're in the car.
- 1:01:09Rick Costa: The wife is deaf, so she's trying, and he's driving in trying to like I'm going as fast as I can, I'm trying to hurry up and she keeps getting his attention.
- 1:01:24Rick Costa: Did it?
- 1:01:24Rick Costa: I know I'm trying to try.
- 1:01:25Rick Costa: And then all of a sudden, next, the baby popped out right in seat.
- 1:01:27Rick Costa: Oh no, and thank god she had a towel, so she wrapped it up in the towel quick, just like that, just like that must not have been her first I don't know okay, you and I have a different idea of cute.
- 1:01:42Carmen Lezeth: but okay, because, isn't it true?
- 1:01:45Carmen Lezeth: If you have, I think your first one is always the hardest right, and then your second child might be easier.
- 1:01:51Cynthia Ruiz: I don't know if that's necessarily true.
- 1:01:52Cynthia Ruiz: Yeah they say, but it's different for everyone.
- 1:01:54Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, man popping it out just like that.
- 1:01:57Rick Costa: Yeah, oh, I had a friend that she went to the hospital and she was like I'm having the baby now.
- 1:02:04Rick Costa: She's like, okay, we're going to get you.
- 1:02:05Rick Costa: No, I'm having the baby now.
- 1:02:07Rick Costa: She's like I understand.
- 1:02:08Rick Costa: She grabbed the nurse's hand, put it down there and the head was crowning already.
- 1:02:13Rick Costa: She's like, oh my God, get this woman in the room right now.
- 1:02:15Rick Costa: She's like you're having it now.
- 1:02:20Carmen Lezeth: I'm never interested in having a child, and that was her third yeah, she said, yeah, she just slid out, she goes.
- 1:02:26Rick Costa: The first one was horrible.
- 1:02:28Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I've heard most people tell me that their first was the worst and then after, Plus, you don't know what to expect.
- 1:02:33Rick Costa: It's your first, so that makes sense.
- 1:02:35Carmen Lezeth: You know what?
- 1:02:36Carmen Lezeth: We don't want to have this conversation.
- 1:02:38Carmen Lezeth: I just can't even imagine a child coming out of any area of me.
- 1:02:42Carmen Lezeth: That's what I'm saying.
- 1:02:42Carmen Lezeth: That's not my thing.
- 1:02:43Carmen Lezeth: My ex, I want my hand.
- 1:02:49Carmen Lezeth: That I can't grab.
- 1:02:50Carmen Lezeth: I know we're like.
- 1:02:50Carmen Lezeth: No way, my ex.
- 1:02:51Rick Costa: If you want to understand what it's like, imagine a watermelon coming out of your butt.
- 1:02:54Rick Costa: There you go.
- 1:02:57Carmen Lezeth: I was like no, I don't want to imagine that.
- 1:02:58Carmen Lezeth: That's a weird thing to say.
- 1:02:59Carmen Lezeth: That's a weird thing to say.
- 1:03:01Carmen Lezeth: Why are we Rick?
- 1:03:01Carmen Lezeth: See how I give Rick a little tiny.
- 1:03:03Carmen Lezeth: That's why I want to talk about things before they come on the show.
- 1:03:06Carmen Lezeth: You're nasty, okay.
- 1:03:09Carmen Lezeth: You're nasty, oh, my God.
- 1:03:10Carmen Lezeth: I'm going to shut this down, unless you guys have anything else you want to chit-chat about for a minute.
- 1:03:19Carmen Lezeth: All right, it was great to talk with you guys.
- 1:03:22Carmen Lezeth: Thank you so much Again.
- 1:03:24Carmen Lezeth: I want to share with everyone.
- 1:03:25Carmen Lezeth: If you go to allaboutthejoycom, you can check out our store and our model here.
- 1:03:31Carmen Lezeth: Rick has the hat, the t-shirt, the cushion.

- 1:03:39Carmen Lezeth: Wow, I'm impressed.
- 1:03:39Carmen Lezeth: Just for that.
- 1:03:41Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, go check it out.
- 1:03:43Carmen Lezeth: We also have cups.
- 1:03:44Carmen Lezeth: We have one mug, two mugs, I think.
- 1:03:47Rick Costa: Yeah, there's two.
- 1:03:47Rick Costa: One's a little bigger than the other one.
- 1:03:49Carmen Lezeth: Yeah, I'll create some other stuff at some point.
- 1:03:52Carmen Lezeth: It took me so long to just do this, so we're just going to leave it at that for now.
- 1:03:55Carmen Lezeth: But anyway, thank you everyone.
- 1:03:56Carmen Lezeth: Thank you everyone for showing up.
