- 2:25Speaker 1: to send in your thoughts on these movies we've been
- 2:29Speaker 1: reviewing for a potential upcoming mail Bag episode.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Yes, I do believe we will have one in early February,
- 2:37Speaker 2: So get those emails in so we can get that
- 2:40Speaker 2: episode recorded. Yeah, we got an email from Francisco recently.
- 2:44Speaker 2: I saw I'm so excited.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Francisco is like comes from the origin of the mail
- 2:53Speaker 1: Bag episodes when we launched that back on last year
- 2:57Speaker 1: for The Way Home.
- 2:58Speaker 2: For the Way Home, Indeed, so about a Spotify comment
- 3:01Speaker 2: from Eric from Iowa the other day, Eric from Iowa
- 3:04Speaker 2: all the ogs.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I love it. Great.
- 3:08Speaker 2: Let's kick this review off with a synopsis of cot
- 3:11Speaker 2: by Love.
- 3:13Speaker 1: While on a journey of self discovery, a resort guest
- 3:17Speaker 1: gets swept up in an undercover investigation for stolen jewels
- 3:21Speaker 1: that turns into a unexpected and adventurous romance.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Copy Love was directed by Kevin Fair, a true Hallmark
- 3:29Speaker 2: MVP with more than fifty directing credits to his name.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Hallmark fans will instantly recognize his work from favorites like
- 3:37Speaker 2: My Dreams of You, three Bed, two Bath, One, Ghost,
- 3:40Speaker 2: and Wedding Every Weekend. He's also directed the Lion's Share
- 3:43Speaker 2: of these signed, sealed delivered movies, along with many installments
- 3:48Speaker 2: of The Morning Show Mysteries.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Morning Show Mysteries. This is a show that piques my
- 3:53Speaker 1: interest every time I see it. For some reason, I
- 3:56Speaker 1: don't know why. I believe it has Holly Robinson Pete
- 3:58Speaker 1: as the lead in it. Why am I drawn to
- 4:01Speaker 1: like a morning show atmosphere with a mystery frame to it?
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't I don't know.
- 4:09Speaker 2: Is that our next series of reviews.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Maybe I also would not mind revisiting our first impressions,
- 4:18Speaker 1: So maybe we do a first impression of Morning Chow Mystery.
- 4:22Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Interesting, You're like, what, that's just not how that series works.
- 4:27Speaker 2: We don't do first impressions of movies. It's a series
- 4:32Speaker 2: of movies.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, so what okay?
- 4:35Speaker 2: I mean, I don't know.
- 4:37Speaker 1: I don't know. We could do like a full guys,
- 4:40Speaker 1: here's some backstory. We spent like nearly an hour talking
- 4:43Speaker 1: before we started recording episodes of our spread allag what
- 4:47Speaker 1: we can do, and like this never came up. So
- 4:50Speaker 1: I think that's why Meg is like, w twof are you.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Talking about it? I'm really not okay, but listen hear
- 4:58Speaker 2: me out.
- 4:59Speaker 1: We could do like a month of first impressions of
- 5:03Speaker 1: mystery series, like ones we've never watched, and like which
- 5:07Speaker 1: one you know.
- 5:08Speaker 2: Do we want to do the data to dive into.
- 5:10Speaker 2: I don't hate that idea at all. Maybe maybe it's
- 5:15Speaker 2: Mystery March. Oh I love that idea, as I'm saying that.
- 5:21Speaker 2: We also may have two new series dropping in March,
- 5:24Speaker 2: so so stay tuned, Mystery. May we'll see it's coming soon.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I love it, I love it Back to Cappy Love.
- 5:37Speaker 1: The screenplay comes from Marcy Holland, a Hallmark favorite with
- 5:40Speaker 1: more than fifty writing credits. Her previous work includes The
- 5:43Speaker 1: Christmas Quest and A Biltmore Christmas, and she's currently writing
- 5:48Speaker 1: on the highly anticipated Secrel, which is rumored to be
- 5:51Speaker 1: titled A Grand Builtmore Christmas.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Rachel Lee Cook stars as Annie, bringing more than one
- 5:57Speaker 2: hundred acting credits and a whole lot of nostalgia to
- 6:00Speaker 2: the role. Can you look at her and Nazi? She's
- 6:04Speaker 2: all that?
- 6:06Speaker 1: No, Yeah, it has defined her, and I wonder if
- 6:10Speaker 1: she thinks that's a good thing or not.
- 6:12Speaker 2: You know, it's like lazy Shabert as Gretchen Wiener's like, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 2: it's a blessing and a curse, I think. But we
- 6:19Speaker 2: recently watched She's All That, and I was it's cute movie,
- 6:23Speaker 2: Like I actually liked that movie, but I was so
- 6:25Speaker 2: angry because I'm like, she's so cute, like the idea
- 6:27Speaker 2: that they made her out to be this like monstrous
- 6:31Speaker 2: person because she wore glasses anyway, Yeah, misogyny runs deep totally.
- 6:38Speaker 1: She's all that. Does it hold up or is it
- 6:39Speaker 1: so like sort of offensive in twenty twenty six. I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 1: the teenage boys are awful.
- 6:47Speaker 2: It's it's that classic like high school teenage popular kid.
- 6:53Speaker 2: It's it's not as offensive as it could be, but
- 6:57Speaker 2: it is kind of like, oh, you need to be
- 6:59Speaker 2: hot to get the popular voice, to let you know.
- 7:01Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 7:03Speaker 2: We most recently saw Rachel in Sisterhood, Inc. Which is
- 7:05Speaker 2: currently streaming on Netflix. She's also said to reunite with
- 7:09Speaker 2: her She's All That co star Freddie Print's junior in
- 7:13Speaker 2: the upcoming The Christmas Affair, which is now in pre production.
- 7:17Speaker 2: We are very curious to see where that lands. It
- 7:20Speaker 2: does not appear to be a Hallmark movie.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Yeah, where do you think that goes? Netflix?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Netflix? I could see it on Prime, it could go
- 7:29Speaker 2: Pea Cosic even.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Maybe we'll review it hot lol, like in the h
- 7:35Speaker 1: during the time of year when well, I don't know,
- 7:37Speaker 1: I guess we did Champion problems this year, like you know,
- 7:39Speaker 1: when it's crazy busy Hallmarks, It's a possibility. Yeah, never
- 7:43Speaker 1: say never. Luke McFarlane stars as Jake, continuing his run
- 7:46Speaker 1: as a Hallmark fan favorite. We're always glad to see
- 7:49Speaker 1: him return. Most recently, he appeared on Hallmark Plus in
- 7:53Speaker 1: the unscripted series Home Is Where the Heart Is, where
- 7:56Speaker 1: he helps families renovate inherited or meaningful homes. I know
- 8:00Speaker 1: lot of people, a lot of our listeners watch that show.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I did see a couple. I enjoyed it because I
- 8:05Speaker 1: like a home renovation me too. Show. Beyond Hallmark, Luke
- 8:10Speaker 1: has recently appeared in the comedy Shifting Gears. He is
- 8:14Speaker 1: also a regular on Apple TV's Platonic and is set
- 8:18Speaker 1: to appear in a comedy called Let's Have Kids alongside
- 8:22Speaker 1: a very stacked cast. I don't know where that's going
- 8:26Speaker 1: to air at, but yeah, is that a movie or
- 8:28Speaker 1: a series? I believe it's a movie.
- 8:32Speaker 2: Amanda Vilenova co stars as Laura. Amanda has eleven acting
- 8:35Speaker 2: credits and previously appeared on Hallmark in for Love and Honey.
- 8:39Speaker 2: In twenty twenty.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Four, Rupert Hill appears as Robert. He's an English actor
- 8:44Speaker 1: and best known for his long running role on Coronation Street,
- 8:47Speaker 1: where he appeared in nearly three hundred and fifty episodes.
- 8:51Speaker 1: He also starred in the early two thousand's UK series
- 8:54Speaker 1: Family Affairs.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Suzanne Debney appears as Suzanne with just five previous acting credits.
- 9:00Speaker 2: This is her first Hallmark role. Ruby Kramer appears as
- 9:02Speaker 2: friend Joanna. She has twenty seven acting credits and last
- 9:06Speaker 2: appeared on Hallmark in the twenty twenty four movie Two
- 9:09Speaker 2: Scoops of Italy. Emris Cooper plays Colin. Jake Allen appears
- 9:13Speaker 2: as Reed, Fernando Coral as Peter, Denise Capezza as Rebecca,
- 9:17Speaker 2: and Russell Barnett as FBI agent George.
- 9:22Speaker 1: Lots of actors in this one. Cought by Love was
- 9:25Speaker 1: filmed in Malta, a small island nation in southern Europe.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Let's take a quick break before we come back with
- 9:32Speaker 2: our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first impression
- 9:43Speaker 2: of Cought by Love? Well?
- 9:45Speaker 1: I kept waiting for Jennifer Coolidge, but honestly, Luke McFarlane
- 9:50Speaker 1: and Rachel Lee Cook worked for me.
- 9:52Speaker 2: Little white lotus nod there? Did you not get like
- 9:57Speaker 2: white lotus vibes? I mean, I've never seen why, but
- 10:01Speaker 2: I did hear that. I watched the first episode of
- 10:05Speaker 2: the first season, and it made me so wildly uncomfortable
- 10:08Speaker 2: that I didn't keep watching.
- 10:10Speaker 1: I think that's the point of that.
- 10:12Speaker 2: Sho Oh yeah, yeah, it wasn't for me, but it
- 10:15Speaker 2: does have quite the following. My first impression is this
- 10:19Speaker 2: was not the week for the IMDb reviews to enrage me.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Oh no, I'm gonna We're gonna have to dig deeper
- 10:26Speaker 1: into this because I have not read any of the IMDb.
- 10:30Speaker 2: I can power a small town with the fire of
- 10:33Speaker 2: my rage alone. But let's talk what we liked first.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Okay. Wow, part of me feels like I have to
- 10:41Speaker 1: defend this movie because I actually really enjoyed it, and
- 10:45Speaker 1: I know, like because I reread it and I see Facebook,
- 10:49Speaker 1: and I think a lot of people were like, oh,
- 10:50Speaker 1: it was kind of boring, or the chemistry doesn't work
- 10:53Speaker 1: for me, or murmurmer ax whatever. I liked it. Of
- 10:57Speaker 1: course I read the synopsis ahead of time. But to me,
- 11:00Speaker 1: this was like a perfect mashup of a mystery and
- 11:03Speaker 1: a romance, and Hallmark has been lacking mysteries, so it
- 11:08Speaker 1: worked for me that way. I was pleasantly surprised by
- 11:12Speaker 1: just the story in general, and I really enjoyed our
- 11:18Speaker 1: leads in it as well.
- 11:19Speaker 2: That's my favorite thing about this movie as well, is
- 11:21Speaker 2: the rom com mystery aspect to it. When we're in
- 11:25Speaker 2: a month where we have five Winter Escape movies. This
- 11:28Speaker 2: one really sets itself apart by having that twist to it,
- 11:32Speaker 2: that aspect to the plot. Is it zero stakes and
- 11:36Speaker 2: super hallmarky? Yeah it is. That's what I'm here for though,
- 11:41Speaker 2: And like you, I really liked Rachel Lee Cook and
- 11:44Speaker 2: Luck MacFarlane in this movie. Yes, I do see her
- 11:49Speaker 2: as that teenager with glasses and she's all that every
- 11:52Speaker 2: single time she's on screen. But I also thought she
- 11:56Speaker 2: was real cute. I thought they're just both so easy
- 11:59Speaker 2: and watchable. And and the movie is set and filmed
- 12:05Speaker 2: in Malta, which could not be.
- 12:07Speaker 1: More beautiful, stunning, stunning. I was like, I was like,
- 12:12Speaker 1: I had to honestly look on a map. I was like,
- 12:15Speaker 1: where is this? And can I go?
- 12:18Speaker 2: Loved it?
- 12:19Speaker 1: You know. I would say this movie is maybe related
- 12:23Speaker 1: to slightly to Lost in Paradise, the first movie of
- 12:27Speaker 1: the Winter Escape.
- 12:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I'd agree with that in terms.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Of story, you know, but I agree. I felt like
- 12:34Speaker 1: it did stand out in this month of movies just
- 12:38Speaker 1: in terms of a fun, different story.
- 12:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I would put with the four we've seen so far.
- 12:45Speaker 2: I would put Melbourne at the top, and then I
- 12:49Speaker 2: would probably tie Lost in Paradise and Caught by Love
- 12:52Speaker 2: for the second place position. I agree. Curious to see
- 12:55Speaker 2: what happens next week with Missing the Boat.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. One of the things I really liked in
- 13:01Speaker 1: this movie is and I used to talk about this
- 13:04Speaker 1: all the time, but the costume. Yeah, wardrobe, I thought
- 13:08Speaker 1: Annie and well, first of all, Annie, to me always slayed.
- 13:12Speaker 1: I thought she always looked great, her outfits were super cute,
- 13:15Speaker 1: she was accessorized appropriately. I just thought she looked real cute,
- 13:21Speaker 1: really aspirational. To be quite honest, I thought, whoever did
- 13:25Speaker 1: the costume did a really nice job in having like
- 13:29Speaker 1: Annie and Jake coordinated but not matchy. Do you remember
- 13:33Speaker 1: talking to Keith Nielsen about this, I don't know, it
- 13:36Speaker 1: was a long time ago, but we had mentioned like, oh,
- 13:40Speaker 1: that's so interesting where your two leads kind of like
- 13:44Speaker 1: look like they fit like a puzzle, like they're coordinated, right,
- 13:47Speaker 1: And He's like, duh, you know, I don't know. I'm
- 13:51Speaker 1: a regular person, like I would never think to have
- 13:55Speaker 1: like a color palette that you work with anyway. But
- 13:59Speaker 1: since that conversation with him, I like, I always notice it,
- 14:03Speaker 1: and I just thought it worked really well in this movie,
- 14:06Speaker 1: especially with characters Carolyn and Peter.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Oh, I was just thinking that.
- 14:12Speaker 1: So they have that fountain scene where they miss so, yes,
- 14:18Speaker 1: let me talk about it. She's in a navy dress
- 14:20Speaker 1: and she has a red heel on, and then Peter
- 14:23Speaker 1: comes and he's wearing navy and white and he has
- 14:26Speaker 1: a red rose and they just work perfectly together. I
- 14:31Speaker 1: so loved it. I loved it.
- 14:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's interesting because that couple has a very
- 14:36Speaker 2: different style to Annie and Jake style, but everyone fits
- 14:41Speaker 2: in in the Malta style, like they all look like
- 14:44Speaker 2: they belong. I loved Annie's wardrobe and I thought it
- 14:48Speaker 2: was a nice twist to have her like, oh, I've
- 14:50Speaker 2: got my friend's luggage, like all packed and ready to go.
- 14:53Speaker 2: That's why I look like this. Yeah, I may not
- 14:55Speaker 2: have my life together, but my clothes look great. And
- 14:59Speaker 2: that worked, like her character needed to look that good
- 15:02Speaker 2: in this movie, and they found a way to make
- 15:04Speaker 2: that make sense. Her never ending collection of matching sets. Yes,
- 15:11Speaker 2: resort where I just loved it. I was like, please
- 15:13Speaker 2: pack me a suitcase full of that.
- 15:16Speaker 1: Yeah. I don't know if I believe that you're rolling
- 15:18Speaker 1: off of a flight and high heels. No, whatever, I
- 15:24Speaker 1: can let something slide.
- 15:26Speaker 2: I really like the character of Laura. Laura was great.
- 15:31Speaker 2: I especially liked her up top before we know what
- 15:34Speaker 2: the deal is with her and Jake and their subterfuge here,
- 15:38Speaker 2: the way she's reacting to shea royal, that lady who's
- 15:42Speaker 2: like mad about the chlorine concentration in the pool. Like
- 15:45Speaker 2: the comedy is amazing. We'll talk more about her, but
- 15:49Speaker 2: I thought she was a great additional co star to
- 15:52Speaker 2: this movie. Her partnership with Jake was really fun.
- 15:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I have some notes on that. I loved her
- 15:59Speaker 1: like kind of deadpan patience with these privileged guests I
- 16:04Speaker 1: thought was really funny, really really funny, you know, not
- 16:08Speaker 1: like laugh out loud funny, but appreciated like her annoyance
- 16:12Speaker 1: with all of it.
- 16:13Speaker 2: Yep, loved it.
- 16:14Speaker 1: I did read a critic review that said they thought
- 16:19Speaker 1: Laura and Jake had more chemistry than Jake did with Annie,
- 16:24Speaker 1: and part of me like can see that. You know,
- 16:27Speaker 1: like when your partners like that, you have to have
- 16:30Speaker 1: some sort of rapport right right, And I liken it
- 16:34Speaker 1: to the characters on the show Private Eyes, which is
- 16:38Speaker 1: on a Hallmark Plus. It's Jason Priestley and I Unfortunately
- 16:42Speaker 1: at this time cannot remember the co lead of that show.
- 16:45Speaker 1: But they kind of have that similar you know, their
- 16:48Speaker 1: Private Eyes. They have that similar sort of working dynamic.
- 16:52Speaker 1: In their case, it is romantic. But I'm telling you,
- 16:56Speaker 1: if you like that sort of vibe, you should watch
- 17:00Speaker 1: Private Eyes.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I agree. I think it's more of a rapport than
- 17:03Speaker 2: a chemistry that they had. I thought Jake and Annie had.
- 17:06Speaker 2: I thought they were very cute Jake and Annie. It
- 17:09Speaker 2: wasn't a strong sexy, swoony vibe and I was like, oh,
- 17:12Speaker 2: they're so cute, Like this was a real cute, like
- 17:14Speaker 2: vacation getting to know you cute vibe, you know, like, oh,
- 17:20Speaker 2: like I hear you, Oh this is fun. It was
- 17:23Speaker 2: that for me.
- 17:24Speaker 1: Yeah, people while you meet on vacation sort of yeah, yeah,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I hear you about cute. But I thought their kisses
- 17:31Speaker 1: were pretty.
- 17:32Speaker 2: Oh, I don't disagree with you.
- 17:33Speaker 1: That's true, hot and sexy at the end, and there
- 17:37Speaker 1: were lots of them, and I liked it. Take that
- 17:41Speaker 1: IMDb reviewers.
- 17:43Speaker 2: On another note, Rachel Ye Cook's physical comedy when she's
- 17:46Speaker 2: doing aeral yoga is fantastic.
- 17:49Speaker 1: I agree.
- 17:50Speaker 2: I fully appreciated her just going for it in those moments.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Yes, I agree to that is also one of my likes,
- 17:57Speaker 1: if I could piggyback off of that.
- 17:59Speaker 2: I was pleased that this.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Movie had minimal hyjinks it and I would say that
- 18:06Speaker 1: ariel yoga scene was hyjink see, but it was funny
- 18:10Speaker 1: enough that I didn't mind. It wasn't like over the top.
- 18:13Speaker 1: It felt very realistic. I would absolutely be that person.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I loved it, And I don't know if you caught it,
- 18:20Speaker 2: but the first time they show her doing that, we
- 18:22Speaker 2: see Jake and Laura talking to each other and he
- 18:25Speaker 2: says something like we could be dealing with a sophisticated criminal.
- 18:27Speaker 2: You cut to Annie fully tangled up in the silks.
- 18:30Speaker 2: It was a nice comedic moment for me, absolutely and
- 18:32Speaker 2: did not cross the hijinks line.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Another thing I liked about it is that the crime
- 18:38Speaker 1: to me was real, low stakes.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Like zero steaks, which I kind of loved.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I kind of love that too. I do have a
- 18:46Speaker 1: note about it in my wishes. But you know, like,
- 18:48Speaker 1: there's no murder, there's no darkness. We're just talking about
- 18:52Speaker 1: stolen jewels and rich, weird people that are at some
- 18:55Speaker 1: wellness resort. The whole combination of it all was just
- 19:00Speaker 1: watchable to me. Yeah, zero is stress My final thing
- 19:04Speaker 1: I liked. I thought this movie the script had some
- 19:09Speaker 1: interesting questions and if I may present them to you
- 19:13Speaker 1: and hopefully you can give your thoughts on I'd love
- 19:15Speaker 1: to hear them on them. Jake has a comment. Him
- 19:18Speaker 1: and Annie are in this conversation, and he says people
- 19:21Speaker 1: are motivated by self interests, including jealousy and greed. My
- 19:25Speaker 1: first question to you is do you agree with that? Megan?
- 19:28Speaker 1: What are your thoughts on that all people? He says yeah,
- 19:32Speaker 1: and she argues back, She's like, I don't. I don't
- 19:35Speaker 1: think that's the case. But his stance was like, people
- 19:38Speaker 1: are motivated motivated by self interest.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I mean, can you paint every single human with the
- 19:42Speaker 2: same brush. No, are plenty of people motivated by self interest.
- 19:46Speaker 2: I mean sure.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I think Annie's stance was like she thinks there's more
- 19:51Speaker 1: good in the world.
- 19:52Speaker 2: I would like to think there's more good in the world.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I just thought. I was like, this is
- 19:57Speaker 1: a deep question for you know, oh, like, this is
- 20:00Speaker 1: a deep conversation for people who just met.
- 20:03Speaker 2: At the end of the day. The question is like,
- 20:05Speaker 2: can I have my cake and eat it too, Right?
- 20:07Speaker 2: Can I get what I want and also be a
- 20:09Speaker 2: good person? I think is probably the goal of a
- 20:12Speaker 2: vast majority of people, and put in a position where
- 20:15Speaker 2: they have to choose, like, well, what's good for me
- 20:18Speaker 2: or what's good for the group? I think that maybe
- 20:21Speaker 2: is where you find out what you're made of. Yeah,
- 20:24Speaker 2: it's a hard question to answer for sure.
- 20:27Speaker 1: The next one was during the scene where Robert, the
- 20:32Speaker 1: wellness head guy, has like he's invited them up and
- 20:35Speaker 1: people are like telling what they are manifesting. Oh uh huh,
- 20:40Speaker 1: and Annie says like, I hope in five years I'm
- 20:42Speaker 1: going to own a home and I'm gonna have something
- 20:45Speaker 1: blah blah blah. I don't remember the specifics. And his
- 20:48Speaker 1: response to her was, are those truly your dreams are
- 20:52Speaker 1: just what's expected of you? And I thought, oh, that's interesting.
- 20:57Speaker 1: I just thought it made me pause and think about
- 21:00Speaker 1: my own opinions in this moment of this movie.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I just thought, yeah, no, that's good. Is that what
- 21:05Speaker 2: I want? Or is that just what I want? Think
- 21:07Speaker 2: people want me to want? Yeah.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I know a lot of these Hallmark movies just our
- 21:12Speaker 1: surfacy background fun, but.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I do sometimes think they double.
- 21:17Speaker 1: Click into some interesting thoughts about life. Yeah, more talk
- 21:22Speaker 1: with Megan and we do about philosophical questions and Hallmark movies.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Join us on next week's What's Good on Patreon, where
- 21:30Speaker 2: we're going to deep dive into.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Do you have any more likes?
- 21:34Speaker 2: I don't. Let's talk wishes. Okay, let me tell you this.
- 21:39Speaker 2: This is gonna shock nobody. A sleuth I am not.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I never know who has committed the crime, and we're
- 21:47Speaker 2: bat in a thousand with this one. I literally had
- 21:49Speaker 2: no idea right up until the moment where Jake says, huh,
- 21:53Speaker 2: we've investigated all the guests, and I was like, I know,
- 21:56Speaker 2: he's not a guest. And then that was my one contribution.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Oh really, that's so funny. Well, okay, I will agree
- 22:05Speaker 1: with you. There are so many characters, right, Yes, it
- 22:10Speaker 1: works for like the suspense of like who could be
- 22:14Speaker 1: the potential bad guy. It did keep me guessing and
- 22:18Speaker 1: at different points I thought. At different points I really thought,
- 22:22Speaker 1: I was like, Oh, it's the travel influencer, and then
- 22:24Speaker 1: I was like, oh no, it's the ex girlfriend. Oh no,
- 22:26Speaker 1: it's Joanna, the Annie's friend. And then at one part
- 22:31Speaker 1: I thought yeah, and at one part.
- 22:33Speaker 2: I thought, wouldn't it be quite a twist if it
- 22:36Speaker 2: was Annie, because that would be riting.
- 22:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know it wasn't. But I agree with
- 22:43Speaker 1: you Towards Anna, I was like, yeah, I have I
- 22:46Speaker 1: have no idea who the bad guy is none in
- 22:48Speaker 1: terms of the crime. I do wish there was a
- 22:53Speaker 1: little bit more set up at the beginning, like, give
- 22:56Speaker 1: me some clearer context about the jewelry theft.
- 23:01Speaker 2: What was stolen?
- 23:02Speaker 1: I mean, I know that we knew that, like it
- 23:04Speaker 1: was a necklace, but like, how serious was it?
- 23:06Speaker 2: Why?
- 23:07Speaker 1: Why did catching the buyer matter?
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah, because they're not even going to really catch him.
- 23:12Speaker 2: He's like, all I gotta do is take a picture
- 23:13Speaker 2: and send it to the person who hired me. They're
- 23:15Speaker 2: not even getting the item back. They ultimately do, but
- 23:19Speaker 2: that's not even their.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Goal exactly exactly. I just think if they would have
- 23:25Speaker 1: framed it more in terms of like the steaks m
- 23:30Speaker 1: it would have maybe hooked people quicker at the beginning.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Even like a flash of the necklace getting stolen instead
- 23:38Speaker 2: of us opening.
- 23:40Speaker 1: With our two leap exactly. And my final wish was, man,
- 23:45Speaker 1: they resolve things so quickly at the end. Here they
- 23:48Speaker 1: catch Robert right doing this dirty deal just on the
- 23:53Speaker 1: grounds of it, Like there's loudly like yeah, yeah, they're
- 23:56Speaker 1: not in some office space or like a I don't know,
- 23:59Speaker 1: a whole tel room anything.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I thought was weird.
- 24:02Speaker 1: But then Jake and Annie go back to the party
- 24:06Speaker 1: like nothing's happened. And then once the word gets out
- 24:09Speaker 1: that Robert was apprehended, like everybody gets a text message
- 24:13Speaker 1: or like some alert on their phone, and then the
- 24:15Speaker 1: party dissolves.
- 24:16Speaker 2: I was like, what what what? I did not understand
- 24:20Speaker 2: why the party then had to end? If the bad
- 24:23Speaker 2: guy has been apprehended, why are we leaving?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Yeah? Whoop it up?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Yes?
- 24:28Speaker 1: Would you? What else did you wish for?
- 24:30Speaker 2: Give Laura more to do? She's just working the whole
- 24:32Speaker 2: time and doesn't get to do any of the fun
- 24:34Speaker 2: investigative stuff, like even a fun little threesome moment, you
- 24:38Speaker 2: know what I mean, while they're all together. Even one
- 24:42Speaker 2: scene like that where she gets to be out of
- 24:44Speaker 2: uniform would have been fun. I thought, my big wish.
- 24:48Speaker 2: Luke McFarlane's sexuality has absolutely nothing to do with his
- 24:51Speaker 2: performance in this movie, and the number of reviews that say,
- 24:54Speaker 2: like it was good but worth noting, but No, it's
- 24:58Speaker 2: not relevant. You either liked his perf foremants or you didn't.
- 25:01Speaker 2: It's as relevant as saying like, oh, well, Lisa Spare
- 25:03Speaker 2: is a cat person, so I find it hard to
- 25:05Speaker 2: believe that she's carrying her on this purse dog in
- 25:07Speaker 2: the movie. It's not relevant. They're acting. It's fine if
- 25:10Speaker 2: you didn't think these characters had chemistry. It's fine if
- 25:13Speaker 2: you didn't love the story. But leave the parts of
- 25:16Speaker 2: your review that are irrelevant out of the review.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Please, Oh, can't separate, I know, mind, but get out
- 25:24Speaker 1: of here. Yeah. Yeah, that's so e fing stupid.
- 25:29Speaker 2: Sorry, I just had to get it off my chest.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Let's talk to you to see that.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Okay, I absolutely agree with you.
- 25:35Speaker 2: By the way, Oh, I know you with you? I
- 25:37Speaker 2: know you do.
- 25:39Speaker 1: Did you see that? I have too?
- 25:40Speaker 2: Me too.
- 25:41Speaker 1: When Annie and Jake are trying to get over the
- 25:45Speaker 1: patio wall, like you know, they're they're in Carolyn's room,
- 25:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, and you know how like Annie's room is
- 25:51Speaker 1: right next door, but yeah, like they have that kind
- 25:53Speaker 1: of that shared outdoor space with just like a low
- 25:56Speaker 1: free foot wall. Annie climbs over it like i'll regular
- 26:00Speaker 1: human would, but Jake like launches himself one foot on
- 26:06Speaker 1: each railing like step step like parkour like. I was like,
- 26:11Speaker 1: first of all, you know me, I would break a
- 26:13Speaker 1: damn ankle doing that. But I was so impressed. I
- 26:17Speaker 1: just jumped up there and like scaled this little three
- 26:19Speaker 1: foot wall on the railing like, no problem. My other
- 26:24Speaker 1: digite that is the world's smallest pizza. That Jake shows up.
- 26:28Speaker 2: That pizza was so sad.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I was like, what, And you know, for people who
- 26:33Speaker 1: are like not eating any like yummy foods at this
- 26:36Speaker 1: wellness resort, bring an extra large pizza and dive in.
- 26:43Speaker 1: But what was also funny is that they have this
- 26:46Speaker 1: scene and they're eating it and they have barely eaten.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Any of it. Oh there was maybe two pieces missing
- 26:52Speaker 2: from it. My husband and I can power through a
- 26:54Speaker 2: large pizza the two of us, no problem, No problem. Yeah,
- 26:59Speaker 2: my two dig are when they go for their bike ride.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Annie's in wedges. I cannot imagine that that's particularly comfortable.
- 27:05Speaker 2: Looks great, not comfy, I agree. And just a tiny
- 27:09Speaker 2: little continuity moment when they're having their evening pool side
- 27:13Speaker 2: seen and they're chatting perched on the edge of the
- 27:16Speaker 2: pool in the wide shot, her sarong is long and
- 27:20Speaker 2: covering her leg and dragging in the water. In the
- 27:22Speaker 2: close up, it's like fully exposing both of her legs.
- 27:26Speaker 2: It's like tucked away to the side. It's just a
- 27:30Speaker 2: silly little moment, that's all.
- 27:32Speaker 1: You know what I noticed in that scene Luke McFarlane
- 27:34Speaker 1: a shirtless Uh.
- 27:36Speaker 2: Yeah, I did enjoy the mini slow mo moment we
- 27:38Speaker 2: get as Rachel Lee Cook comes up upon Luke emerging
- 27:43Speaker 2: from the water like the Little Mermaid loved it, water
- 27:46Speaker 2: running off of his shoulders.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Yep.
- 27:48Speaker 2: It is almost like a shoes all that when like
- 27:50Speaker 2: she's coming down the stairs moment in slow motion. I thought, Hey,
- 27:54Speaker 2: what did you rate Caught by Love?
- 27:56Speaker 1: I gave it four stars.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I gave it three and a half stars.
- 27:59Speaker 1: Are you exc for next week's movie?
- 28:01Speaker 2: I really am, I really am. I am too. I'm
- 28:05Speaker 2: I'm at slightly worried based.
- 28:08Speaker 1: On the poster, based on the poster, based on the
- 28:11Speaker 1: movie poster.
- 28:12Speaker 2: But Chris is so good.
- 28:15Speaker 1: Chris is so good. I really love Emily Alerup as well,
- 28:19Speaker 1: so I'm looking forward to it.
- 28:22Speaker 2: I am too, I am too. And I liked the
- 28:24Speaker 2: preview that they showed. Did you watch Popy Love Live.
- 28:27Speaker 1: I no, I did it, and I haven't seen a
- 28:29Speaker 1: preview of it yet, so I will go back and
- 28:31Speaker 1: look for it.
- 28:31Speaker 2: They showed a little sneak peek and I thought it
- 28:33Speaker 2: was great.
- 28:34Speaker 1: Great.
