- 1:38- Here is this week's devotional.
- 1:40- Hello, and welcome to divine five one five.
- 1:43- I'm your host, Valerie Rocha,
- 1:46- and we are doing a bonus episode
- 1:49- on finding strength through prayer and community because
- 1:52- I
- 1:53- wanna be sure that you have all the
- 1:55- ammunition that you need. So today, I wanted
- 1:59- to empower you
- 2:01- to know that you can trust God is
- 2:04- still working even when you're feeling forgotten.
- 2:07- Scripture text comes from Isaiah forty nine
- 2:10- fifteen through 16
- 2:12- and says, can a mother forget the baby
- 2:14- at her breast and have no compassion on
- 2:17- the child she has born?
- 2:19- Though she may forget, I will not forget
- 2:22- you.
- 2:23- See, I have engraved you on the palms
- 2:26- of my hands.
- 2:29- Now
- 2:30- before I go into some of the challenges
- 2:32- and different things that we can be facing.
- 2:36- I just wanna say how much of a
- 2:38- blessing that scripture is to me, you guys.
- 2:41- You know, we
- 2:43- often think about God being so far away,
- 2:46- but this scripture is very, very clear that
- 2:49- not only is he not far away, but
- 2:52- we are always
- 2:53- on
- 2:54- his
- 2:55- mind.
- 2:57- He has us tattooed
- 3:00- in his hand. Yo. That is exciting. Right?
- 3:03- A tattoo. That's how much he loves us.
- 3:06- He can't forget us because we're always on
- 3:08- his mind, and he always
- 3:10- has
- 3:11- our
- 3:12- best interest at heart.
- 3:15- Okay.
- 3:17- Now
- 3:18- let's talk about some of the challenges. Right?
- 3:21- We've talked about in earlier episodes that the
- 3:24- idea of community is so important.
- 3:27- Some of the challenges that we face that
- 3:29- we feel like we,
- 3:31- need to do this thing solo.
- 3:33- Right?
- 3:34- But how scripture tells us that
- 3:36- we don't need a whole lot of people,
- 3:38- maybe just one or two,
- 3:40- just someone that we can bear our burdens
- 3:44- with.
- 3:45- You know, life is hard. It's it's challenging.
- 3:48- I mean, we're being bombarded on every
- 3:50- side. If it's not health, it's finances or
- 3:53- relationship
- 3:54- or all of the above. Right. And it
- 3:56- can be absolutely
- 3:59- overwhelming.
- 4:01- And so
- 4:03- is it any wonder
- 4:04- that sometimes we feel like
- 4:07- everyone else is moving forward while while
- 4:10- you're standing still?
- 4:12- I mean, it's like we're in quicksand. Right?
- 4:15- I mean, you watch others celebrate answered prayers
- 4:18- and new opportunities,
- 4:20- restored relationships or exciting milestones.
- 4:25- But yet there's this gnawing in the back
- 4:28- of your mind where you wonder,
- 4:31- God, what about me?
- 4:33- Don't you see me? Don't I matter?
- 4:37- Well, let me assure you.
- 4:41- I think it's part of the human plight,
- 4:43- but it can also be a tactical
- 4:45- strategy from the enemy. Because remember, he's the
- 4:48- father of lies and there's no truth in
- 4:50- him. And if he can
- 4:52- drive a wedge between us and our heavenly
- 4:55- father, then he's done his job well.
- 4:58- And those feelings that you're feeling, they're so
- 5:01- common to the, to the human plight.
- 5:04- I mean,
- 5:06- if you live long enough, you're going to
- 5:08- get there. If you're not there yet.
- 5:11- And the waiting,
- 5:14- the waiting can make us question God's timing.
- 5:17- And that's why we have to stand on
- 5:19- his word through faith. Because remember, scripture tells
- 5:22- us without faith, it's impossible to please him
- 5:24- his presence. And sometimes even his promises,
- 5:27- it's like we're reading the scriptures, but we,
- 5:31- we have no way to connect it. It's
- 5:33- like, there's just no anchor for us.
- 5:37- And the longer the silence lasts, the easier
- 5:40- it becomes to believe that God is working
- 5:42- everywhere else
- 5:44- except in our own lives.
- 5:47- But
- 5:50- just like prayer,
- 5:51- the scripture
- 5:53- always paints a different picture
- 5:56- Through the prophet Isaiah, God reminds his people
- 5:59- that forgetting them is impossible.
- 6:02- He doesn't have at Nisha.
- 6:06- The children of Israel's names were engraved on
- 6:09- his hands. Now you might be like, well,
- 6:12- that was great for them. That doesn't have
- 6:14- anything to do with me. Yes. We are
- 6:15- modern day children of Israel.
- 6:18- We are his people, the sheep of his
- 6:20- pasture.
- 6:21- We are his kids
- 6:24- and just like any good parent,
- 6:27- he wants the best for us.
- 6:30- What an incredible image of his unwavering love
- 6:33- and constant attention that is. I mean, even
- 6:36- when
- 6:37- the,
- 6:39- they couldn't see, we can't see him working.
- 6:42- It doesn't mean that
- 6:44- he's not present.
- 6:47- He stands by his work to perform it.
- 6:50- And he is always faithful.
- 6:53- And because of it,
- 6:54- he's not like, man, he will carry out
- 6:56- his plan every single time. Remember he says,
- 6:59- I know the thoughts that I
- 7:02- have goods of blessings and a good outcome,
- 7:08- but that doesn't mean that waiting is easy.
- 7:12- What's important to know
- 7:15- is that
- 7:16- it doesn't mean God's absent.
- 7:19- Remember we talked about
- 7:21- when you have to take that test, the
- 7:23- teacher doesn't say anything. It doesn't mean he's
- 7:25- not there.
- 7:27- Many of God's greatest works happen. We need
- 7:30- the surface before
- 7:32- they're ever visible,
- 7:35- Just as a seed develops and roots long
- 7:38- before
- 7:40- you see anything, it breaks through the soil.
- 7:43- God is often
- 7:44- just like that.
- 7:46- Strengthening our fate, shaping our character and preparing
- 7:49- us for what lies ahead.
- 7:53- Prayer becomes especially important during seasons of waiting
- 7:57- because it keeps us connected to the father.
- 7:59- When our emotions tell us to give up,
- 8:02- it reminds us that our confidence is not
- 8:05- found in what we see, but in the
- 8:07- one who has promised to never leave us,
- 8:12- if you have ever looked
- 8:14- or felt
- 8:16- like
- 8:17- God forgot about you,
- 8:19- remember this.
- 8:22- God hasn't forgotten
- 8:24- your name.
- 8:25- He hasn't misplaced your prayer.
- 8:28- He hasn't abandoned his promise.
- 8:31- His timing is purposeful.
- 8:33- His love is constant
- 8:35- and his plans are still unfolding.
- 8:40- It's all about
- 8:43- the relationship.
- 8:46- So continue to seek him,
- 8:48- continue to trust him
- 8:50- and continue
- 8:52- meeting him at the throne.
- 8:55- That being said,
- 8:57- let's pray.
- 9:00- Dear father,
- 9:01- thank you for reminding us
- 9:04- that we are never forgotten
- 9:06- that you have us tattooed
- 9:09- on your hand.
- 9:12- When waiting becomes difficult and discouragement becomes to
- 9:16- settle into our hearts,
- 9:18- father help us to remember that you are
- 9:20- always working
- 9:21- even when we cannot see it. It.
- 9:25- Strengthen our faith to trust your timing
- 9:28- above our own expectations.
- 9:31- Father, keep us close to you during seasons
- 9:34- of waiting and help us to find peace
- 9:37- in knowing that your plans are always good.
- 9:42- Thank you for loving us faithfully and intentionally
- 9:46- and for never letting us go. And we
- 9:49- will bless you in Jesus name.
- 9:54- Before I go,
- 9:55- remember this.
- 9:58- Your waiting season is never wasted when it
- 10:01- is a place in God's hands.
- 10:03- Every prayer,
- 10:05- every act of faith, and every moment spent
