- 0:00Speaker 1: God is not given influence in this season to people
- 0:04Speaker 1: who need self ingrandizement and self promotion. God has given
- 0:08Speaker 1: influence to humble people who will lay on their face
- 0:12Speaker 1: before God and say to God be the glory for
- 0:15Speaker 1: the things he has done. In order to have impact,
- 0:20Speaker 1: God has to give you influence in the eyes of
- 0:25Speaker 1: the people. And that's something that God has to do
- 0:30Speaker 1: because you can't do You cannot control how people see you.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Your arrogance is a lethal weapon that ought to be
- 0:44Speaker 1: registered because you cannot say I don't know, little Mama.
- 0:52Speaker 1: For preachers, it is not what you know about the
- 0:55Speaker 1: text that makes you a great preacher. It's what you
- 0:58Speaker 1: ask of the text. If you come to the text
- 1:02Speaker 1: as a fool, you will leave as a professor. But
- 1:05Speaker 1: if you come to the text as a professor, you
- 1:08Speaker 1: will walk away as a fool. Say it again, Ah
- 1:12Speaker 1: don't know, for we know not what to pray for
- 1:16Speaker 1: as we are. But the Spirit itself makes this intercession
- 1:19Speaker 1: for us with drunings and moanings that cannot be uttered.
- 1:22Speaker 1: We don't know, we don't know, we don't know, we
- 1:25Speaker 1: don't know. We don't know what it's gonna be like.
- 1:28Speaker 1: We don't know what's gonna happen. We don't know what
- 1:30Speaker 1: tomorrow is gonna bring. We don't know how to live
- 1:32Speaker 1: in the Promised Land. We don't know how to fight
- 1:35Speaker 1: this kind of fight. We don't know josph Will like
- 1:38Speaker 1: we knew Moses. We don't know where we are. We're
- 1:41Speaker 1: in transition. And when you're in transition, nobody has to
- 1:47Speaker 1: say anything for you to be irritable. You're irritable because
- 1:53Speaker 1: you're scared. You're irritable because your norm has been shattered.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You're irritable because you're in a nebulous place. You're irritable
- 2:02Speaker 1: because you have landed in the city, but you haven't
- 2:05Speaker 1: checked into the hotel. Tradition will not produce transformation. Transformation
- 2:15Speaker 1: is personal. Be you transformed by the renewing of your mind?
- 2:19Speaker 1: Romans twelfth two. That's personal, that's not congregational. You don't
- 2:24Speaker 1: get transformation because you go to the Potter's house. You
- 2:30Speaker 1: can go to the Potter's house until you're an old woman.
- 2:32Speaker 1: But if you are not transformed by the renewing of
- 2:35Speaker 1: your mind, you won't be able to make it. In
- 2:42Speaker 1: Romans eight, when it talks about we know that all
- 2:45Speaker 1: things work together for the good of them that love
- 2:47Speaker 1: the Lord, for we know, we know, we know, And
- 2:49Speaker 1: then it finally says, we know not what to pray
- 2:52Speaker 1: for as we are. That humility of saying we know
- 2:56Speaker 1: not is I don't No, Joshua, you don't know how
- 3:04Speaker 1: to lead Israel, you don't know how to follow. Joshua
- 3:11Speaker 1: doesn't know how to lead. I know he doesn't know
- 3:12Speaker 1: how to lead because the first thing he does is
- 3:15Speaker 1: pull out his sword against an angel and.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Ask God, whose side are you on? What?
- 3:25Speaker 1: What I don't know produces a praying church who wants
- 3:29Speaker 1: God to be on your side more than you seek
- 3:32Speaker 1: to be on his side. Are you spending all your
- 3:37Speaker 1: time trying to talk God to bless what you plan?
- 3:41Speaker 1: Or are you humbly coming to him and say, Lord,
- 3:44Speaker 1: give me your plan because I don't know. I don't
- 3:51Speaker 1: know how to do this. Today, I'm gonna talk to
- 3:54Speaker 1: you about three things and I'll be gone. I'm gonna
- 3:56Speaker 1: talk to you about influence. I'm gonna talk to you
- 3:59Speaker 1: about impact ediments, and I'm going to talk to you
- 4:03Speaker 1: about instigators. I'm going to talk to you about influence.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'm going to talk to you about impediments because that's
- 4:12Speaker 1: what the flood is and impediment, and I'm going to
- 4:15Speaker 1: talk to you about instigators. Give me a few minutes
- 4:18Speaker 1: and I'll be done. What God says to Joshua is
- 4:24Speaker 1: vitally important. He says, I am going to magnify you
- 4:29Speaker 1: in the eyes of the people, which means God says,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I am going to give you influence. Don't confuse affluence
- 4:42Speaker 1: with influence, because there are many people who are affluent,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but they don't have influence. They're affluent, they're well known,
- 4:52Speaker 1: they're recognizable, they have big names, they have big officers,
- 4:55Speaker 1: they have big sweets, but they don't have effect on
- 4:58Speaker 1: the people who follow them. Affluence does not equate with influence.
- 5:06Speaker 1: God says to Joshua, I'm going to give you influence.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Influence is leadership flowing out of him. It's what flows
- 5:16Speaker 1: out of you. It's what flows out of It's not
- 5:19Speaker 1: just what you say. It's stuff that subconsciously, like the
- 5:23Speaker 1: effluence is the lava that flows out of a rock.
- 5:29Speaker 1: Effluence is what is not just what you're doing and
- 5:32Speaker 1: what you're saying. What is flowing out of you affects
- 5:37Speaker 1: everything around you. The subconscious things that you emit into
- 5:43Speaker 1: the atmosphere is effluence. So we got affluence, we got influence,
- 5:50Speaker 1: and we got effluence. He was already effluent, or he
- 5:55Speaker 1: would have been commanding, or he would not have been
- 5:58Speaker 1: commanding or leading people. He was a warrior, But because
- 6:04Speaker 1: he was a warrior didn't make him Moses. Influence, however,
- 6:10Speaker 1: is the ability to have a measurable impact on others' decisions,
- 6:18Speaker 1: behaviors and effect outcomes.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Influence.
- 6:23Speaker 1: And there's not a person in this room or a
- 6:26Speaker 1: person watching online who doesn't need influence. If it's just
- 6:31Speaker 1: over your daughter, if it's just over your son, if
- 6:35Speaker 1: it's just in your job and in your position, or
- 6:38Speaker 1: with your team or on your staff, whatever it is
- 6:41Speaker 1: that's up under your auspesis, it's a terrible thing to
- 6:44Speaker 1: lead something without influence. Well, we think of great influencers
- 6:50Speaker 1: who positively or even controversially affected the world around them.
- 6:55Speaker 1: We mustn't confuse their affluence here either. In reality, many
- 7:00Speaker 1: many influencers may not have been affluent at all. Martin
- 7:05Speaker 1: Luther was an affluent but when he translated the Latin
- 7:11Speaker 1: scriptures over into the German language in fifteen twenty two,
- 7:17Speaker 1: it gave him influence that led to the Protestant movement,
- 7:24Speaker 1: of which we and Baptists and Methodists and Ames and
- 7:28Speaker 1: United Methodists and Church of God in Christ and Church
- 7:31Speaker 1: of God and Church of God and Prophecy and everybody
- 7:34Speaker 1: else is a part of the collective protests that came
- 7:39Speaker 1: when the Bible fell into the hands of people who
- 7:42Speaker 1: could read it. It gave him influence because it affected
- 7:48Speaker 1: our behavior, our decisions, and our choices. What are how
- 7:53Speaker 1: effective at you are you at influencing other people's behaviors, decisions,
- 8:00Speaker 1: and outcomes. That influence doesn't come by yelling, screaming, arguing, nagging, complaining,
- 8:07Speaker 1: cussing people out, breaking dishes, going at them with skillets.
- 8:12Speaker 1: You can't make people respect you.
- 8:18Speaker 2: You cannot buy respect.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Giving me gifts, sending me cards, giving me money doesn't
- 8:26Speaker 1: make me respect you to the point of affecting my decisions,
- 8:30Speaker 1: my outcomes. Oh my God, I'm preaching, God said I.
- 8:38Speaker 1: God said, I am going to magnify you before the people.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Don't confuse titles with influencers. You getting more to I'm
- 8:48Speaker 1: their apostle, that's the big thing. Now, I'm apostle. I'm
- 8:51Speaker 1: a chief apostle. I'm going from a bishop to be
- 8:53Speaker 1: an apostle. I'm going to be an apostle, but I
- 8:56Speaker 1: was a bishop, and the other guy's an apostle, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: he's getting ready to be coordinated. A bitual.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Shut up.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Changing the title doesn't change the impact. If you have influence,
- 9:07Speaker 1: you got influence whether they gave you the title or not.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Titles are not influenced. Don't confuse degrees and education and
- 9:19Speaker 1: intellect with influence. You can have more degrees than a
- 9:22Speaker 1: thermometer and influence absolute. Let nobody, God says to Johnsuahre,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'm going to magnify you in the eyes of the people.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Here's the question.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Because some of you, God is getting ready to magnify
- 9:40Speaker 1: you in the eyes of the people. If God magnifies you,
- 9:46Speaker 1: would you magnify him or magnify the Lord with me
- 9:54Speaker 1: and let us exalt his name together. If God gives
- 9:58Speaker 1: you the power to influence people's decisions, outcome, and purpose,
- 10:04Speaker 1: would you then magnify God or would you magnify yourself
- 10:08Speaker 1: and brag about how smart you are and how capable
- 10:11Speaker 1: you are. Because God is not giving influence in this
- 10:15Speaker 1: season to people who need self ingrandizement, and self promotion.
- 10:20Speaker 1: God has given influence to humble people who will lay
- 10:23Speaker 1: on their face before God and say, to God be
- 10:26Speaker 1: the glory for the things he has done. Are you
- 10:30Speaker 1: in the building, give me some power on nobody. Are
- 10:33Speaker 1: you in the building? Are you here in the building?
- 10:36Speaker 1: Are you in the balcony? Are you up there in
- 10:39Speaker 1: the balcony? Anywhere? Are you online? Anywhere? Is there anybody
- 10:44Speaker 1: left that God can magnify you? And you will remember
- 10:49Speaker 1: to magnify the Lord. God created trouble to give him influence,
- 11:00Speaker 1: which leads me to impediments. I'm going in front of
- 11:02Speaker 1: influence to impediment. Can I take a little bit longer today?
- 11:07Speaker 1: Because I came fully loaded. I didn't bring a happy meal.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I brought a five course for lay me me on
- 11:15Speaker 1: dinner served in segments and courses with sorbet in between
- 11:20Speaker 1: each segment. Are you ready for this? The flood was
- 11:26Speaker 1: an impediment. The flood was an impediment that God used
- 11:32Speaker 1: to increase Joshua's influence. You've been asking God to move
- 11:39Speaker 1: the impediment, but if God removes the impediment, you won't
- 11:45Speaker 1: have the influence. How you respond to your impediment is
- 11:51Speaker 1: what gives you influence. What's this, oh got I'm excited.
- 11:57Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm so excited. See Joshua, when he was
- 12:01Speaker 1: up under Moses had seen the grapes. He has seen
- 12:07Speaker 1: the grapes of the Promised Land. He had foretasted the grapes,
- 12:12Speaker 1: but he had not seen the flood. The flood was
- 12:19Speaker 1: associated with the harvests, so it didn't flood all the time.
- 12:23Speaker 1: So the last time Joshua was there, he talks about
- 12:26Speaker 1: the giants that were in the land, the sons of Hanaike,
- 12:29Speaker 1: but he doesn't mention the flood. He had since spies over,
- 12:36Speaker 1: but they don't come back talking about the flood. They
- 12:42Speaker 1: had not seen the flood, Remember josh Worth three point fifteen.
- 12:47Speaker 1: The Bible says, Sir Jordan overflows all his banks all
- 12:52Speaker 1: the time of harvest. The flood and the harvests are connected.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Joshua has come to the Promised Land at the time
- 13:05Speaker 1: of the harvest, which means it's raining a lot, and
- 13:10Speaker 1: all the waters of Jerusalem have no place to flow.
- 13:13Speaker 2: But down.
- 13:15Speaker 1: I've been to Israel, I've seen the Sea of Gollie,
- 13:18Speaker 1: I've been to the Jordan River. I was shocked when
- 13:21Speaker 1: I got to the Jordan River. Were you shocked when
- 13:24Speaker 1: you got to the Jordan River. I was shocked when
- 13:26Speaker 1: I got to the Jordan River. I was disappointed. When
- 13:28Speaker 1: I got to the Jordan River, I was expecting to
- 13:31Speaker 1: at least see the Canawa River, the river from Charles.
- 13:36Speaker 1: I thought it would be like a river. I got
- 13:40Speaker 1: to the Jordan River. Man looked like a creek. I said,
- 13:47Speaker 1: so Jamas baptized. The Jordan River is no wider than
- 13:50Speaker 1: this stage. I was so disappointed because in my head
- 13:56Speaker 1: I saw something that was big. But when I came
- 14:02Speaker 1: to the Jordan River, it was not during a flood.
- 14:09Speaker 1: So if you come to my backyard and it hadn't
- 14:12Speaker 1: been a flood, it's actually quite dry. But because it's
- 14:18Speaker 1: in a floodplain, if you come at another time, bring
- 14:21Speaker 1: your swimming drunks. Because the little pond in my backyard
- 14:27Speaker 1: overflows to the point that I had to claim insurance
- 14:31Speaker 1: and rebald. Not because I lived with the river into
- 14:35Speaker 1: my backyard, but in that season it flooded. You are
- 14:40Speaker 1: in a flooding season, and the Lord wants you to
- 14:46Speaker 1: hear this word today, because the Lord ordered the impediment
- 14:53Speaker 1: of the flood to give you influence. You handle this
- 15:03Speaker 1: flood will determine the influence for the rest of your
- 15:08Speaker 1: life because you are leading a group of people who
- 15:14Speaker 1: have no point of reference. So God has simulated a
- 15:19Speaker 1: crisis to prove his promise that as I was with Moses,
- 15:26Speaker 1: so shall I be with you. So God has turned
- 15:30Speaker 1: a creek into a river so that he can demonstrate
- 15:35Speaker 1: his power in your life. Instead of reducing the devil
- 15:40Speaker 1: and pleading the blood, I want you to thank God
- 15:42Speaker 1: for the flood in your life. Come on, come on,
- 15:54Speaker 1: because the flood is a sign that the harvest is
- 15:59Speaker 1: in process. And the flood is a sign that God
- 16:03Speaker 1: is about to give you influence beyond your wildest dreams.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Because how you deal with this impediment will determine the
- 16:13Speaker 1: influence that you walk in the rest of your life.
- 16:19Speaker 2: And if you don't cross.
- 16:20Speaker 1: This short and you will never kill the Canaanites, the Garishites,
- 16:27Speaker 1: the Habites, the Hiptites, or the Jebbisides, everything you're gonna
- 16:33Speaker 1: be depends on how you handle this flood. It was
- 16:38Speaker 1: a creek when you saw it. Now it's a flood
- 16:41Speaker 1: when you get up to it and you're standing there
- 16:44Speaker 1: at the Jordan wondering what to do You don't need evacuation,
- 16:49Speaker 1: you need ammunition. Joshua is leading the people to where
- 17:04Speaker 1: he has already been, just like Moses led them to
- 17:07Speaker 1: the place he'd already been. You cannot lead people the
- 17:10Speaker 1: places you haven't gone, So stop trying to be a
- 17:15Speaker 1: tour god in a place you don't know nothing about.
- 17:21Speaker 1: So Joshua is leading them to a place that he
- 17:23Speaker 1: has been before. He is proficient at crossing the Jordan
- 17:28Speaker 1: when it's not a flood, but now it's a flood,
- 17:34Speaker 1: and all he has is the promise of God that
- 17:37Speaker 1: as I was with Moses, so shall I be with you.
- 17:42Speaker 1: The only difference is I'm a harry on it. The
- 17:45Speaker 1: only difference is is that at the Red Sea, Moses
- 17:49Speaker 1: stretchedforth his rod and the water's parted and they walked
- 17:54Speaker 1: across on dry ground. But when Joshua gets to the Jordan,
- 18:00Speaker 1: the flood has turned it into an amazing river. And
- 18:05Speaker 1: Josua stands there at the Jordan river and standing there
- 18:11Speaker 1: is not working.
- 18:12Speaker 2: He can't stretch forth this rod. That's not working.
- 18:16Speaker 1: God said, I'm gonna be with you like I was
- 18:20Speaker 1: with Moses, but I'm not gonna do it like I
- 18:24Speaker 1: did with Moses, So you can't imitate your Moses and
- 18:30Speaker 1: cross your Jordan. Who am I preaching to in this place?
- 18:35Speaker 1: Slap your neighbor and say, I'm gonna cross over. I'm
- 18:43Speaker 1: about to crossover. I'm about to leave the old me
- 18:48Speaker 1: and cross over to a new me. I'm about to
- 18:51Speaker 1: leave my old place and cross over to a new place.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I'm about to step out of this zone and step
- 18:59Speaker 1: into that zone. Everybody won't be able to go with me,
- 19:05Speaker 1: So some people are gonna have to stay on this
- 19:08Speaker 1: side of the Jordan, because not every tribe is able
- 19:13Speaker 1: to cross over a floodplain. But the Lord sent me
- 19:18Speaker 1: here to preach to somebody that's standing in front of
- 19:22Speaker 1: a flood. You can't bring everybody with you. Some people
- 19:28Speaker 1: got to pitch their tent out in the desert because
- 19:33Speaker 1: they are desert babies. They are not kingdom builders, and
- 19:38Speaker 1: you gotta let them pitch their tent within their comfort zone.
- 19:43Speaker 1: But there are a few of us that have come
- 19:46Speaker 1: too far to fall short of the promise of God.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Is there anybody in this house that's come too far
- 19:57Speaker 1: to settle on the desert. You've been through too much,
- 20:02Speaker 1: you cried too many nights, you enduring hardness and whatever
- 20:08Speaker 1: you gotta go through. I'm going to step into this
- 20:12Speaker 1: jodan and make something happen. Give me thirty seconds of
- 20:18Speaker 1: crazy pray. I got a ball away. I got a
- 20:30Speaker 1: ball away. If Mama don't go in, Daddy on't go,
- 20:36Speaker 1: insisted on go, and brother don't go, I got to
- 20:41Speaker 1: go all the way.
- 20:43Speaker 2: I don't know how to work it. My rod ain't working, but.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I'm gonna do something to get my miracle from the Lord.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Maybe you stretch forth your row and it worked for Moses,
- 20:59Speaker 1: but it didn't work for you. It's not Moses' method.
- 21:03Speaker 1: It's Moses's annoyting that is on you to cross over
- 21:09Speaker 1: this season in your life. If I'm answering prayers, if
- 21:14Speaker 1: I'm answering questions, if I'm speaking to your destiny high atable,
- 21:40Speaker 1: there is no way to get to the grapes without
- 21:45Speaker 1: dealing with the impediments. The things that impede your progress
- 21:50Speaker 1: are a sign of your progress. There wouldn't be an
- 21:54Speaker 1: impediment if there weren't grapes on the other side of this,
- 21:58Speaker 1: if there weren't milk and highney on the other side
- 22:01Speaker 1: of this. Slap your neighbor and say get to the
- 22:04Speaker 1: other side. If you gotta crawl, if you gotta get
- 22:10Speaker 1: money here, if you gotta stretch out, if you gotta
- 22:14Speaker 1: do something unusual, if you gotta be disruptive, if you
- 22:20Speaker 1: gotta break a chain, if you gotta break a yoke,
- 22:25Speaker 1: make something happen.
- 22:27Speaker 2: The Lord told me to tell you. Make it happen.
- 22:33Speaker 2: Take it on the line. I'm gonna make it happen.
- 22:44Speaker 2: I can't hear you.
- 22:48Speaker 1: You ain't mad enough, you ain't radical enough, you're not
- 22:53Speaker 1: aggressive enough. I'm gonna give you another chance to make
- 22:58Speaker 1: some noise. If you're gonna make it happen. Anytime you
- 23:02Speaker 1: switch rolls in front of people, it's hard for them
- 23:06Speaker 1: to see you in the new light.
- 23:09Speaker 2: They say, I knew you win.
- 23:12Speaker 1: You know, if you were an hourly worker and now
- 23:14Speaker 1: you become a part of management, the people who are
- 23:17Speaker 1: hourly workers feel like you betray them, and they start
- 23:19Speaker 1: acting funny.
- 23:20Speaker 2: Now you a boss, Now you the rule over me.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Anytime you go through transitions, then the environment around you
- 23:28Speaker 1: becomes frustrated because.
- 23:30Speaker 2: They say you change, as if there was a terrible thing.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Oh you change, Yes, I change everything, living changes everything,
- 23:39Speaker 1: Living changes.
- 23:41Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm supposed to change.
- 23:42Speaker 1: It would be a shame for me to be forty
- 23:45Speaker 1: years old and not change, fifty years old and not
- 23:48Speaker 1: change thirty five years old and still acting like I'm twelve.
- 23:52Speaker 1: I change as a part of the sign that God
- 23:54Speaker 1: lives in me, and he dwells in me, and he
- 23:57Speaker 1: develops me, and he increased me. Say man, somebody, So
- 24:02Speaker 1: when Joshua moves into this new role, what fascinated me
- 24:06Speaker 1: in the text is that God says to Joshua that
- 24:11Speaker 1: I will exalt you or I will increase you in
- 24:15Speaker 1: the eyes of the people. Okay, will I will raise
- 24:19Speaker 1: you up? And this gives you influence because titles don't
- 24:24Speaker 1: give you influence. Okay, just because they call you something,
- 24:29Speaker 1: don't make you that influence enables you to act on
- 24:34Speaker 1: what they call you effectively. One of the things I
- 24:38Speaker 1: pray for all the time. I never prayed to be famous.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I never prayed to be famous. I never prayed to
- 24:44Speaker 1: be a public figure. I never even wanted any of that.
- 24:47Speaker 1: I prayed to be effective because the thing that I
- 24:51Speaker 1: don't want to be is not effective. Are you hear
- 24:55Speaker 1: what I'm saying? And so when you start talking about influence,
- 24:59Speaker 1: let's defy influence. Influence is a capacity to have any
- 25:03Speaker 1: effect on the character development, on the character development or
- 25:10Speaker 1: behavior of someone or something, or effect itself, like the
- 25:16Speaker 1: influence of television violence. It could be a thing, it
- 25:20Speaker 1: could be a person, but it makes you effective at
- 25:24Speaker 1: producing change. Its influence. It's quantifiable. You can measure your impact.
- 25:30Speaker 1: And I was thinking about sometimes when I was younger,
- 25:33Speaker 1: I'd have dreams and I'd there'd be somebody chasing me,
- 25:37Speaker 1: or I'd be in a fight with somebody and I'd
- 25:39Speaker 1: be punching them, but it had no effect. Hey, anybody
- 25:42Speaker 1: have those kind of dreams where you just couldn't get
- 25:44Speaker 1: You couldn't get that good one in, you know, and
- 25:47Speaker 1: you thought you landed it, but it did it. It's
- 25:49Speaker 1: just turned into nothing. That's a nightmare. I'd wake up
- 25:52Speaker 1: almost screaming. Or you're running but you can't get up
- 25:55Speaker 1: any speed, you can't get up any traction. Some people
- 25:58Speaker 1: live their lives like I had my dream. They punch
- 26:03Speaker 1: without impact, they run without gaining ground, They expend energy,
- 26:11Speaker 1: but they see no results. In order to have impact,
- 26:18Speaker 1: God has to give you influence in the eyes of
- 26:23Speaker 1: the people. And that's something that God has to do
- 26:28Speaker 1: because you can't do. You cannot control how people see you.
- 26:36Speaker 1: I don't care if you change your hair, change your dress,
- 26:38Speaker 1: change your clothes, give more degrees than a thermometer, spin
- 26:42Speaker 1: all around, do whatever you want to do. You cannot
- 26:45Speaker 1: control how people see you. God can control how people
- 26:50Speaker 1: see you, and so God says, I'm going to control
- 26:54Speaker 1: how they see you for my glory. I'm not going
- 27:00Speaker 1: to change how the whole world sees you, but I'm
- 27:04Speaker 1: going to give you influence in proportion to the authority
- 27:09Speaker 1: that I've given you. So this message is a one
- 27:13Speaker 1: size fits all message. It will work whether you're the
- 27:17Speaker 1: governor or the president or a papa and you just
- 27:21Speaker 1: want to influence your son or a wife, and you
- 27:25Speaker 1: just want to influence your husband, whatever you have dominion over,
- 27:31Speaker 1: you want to have influence. So the less time you have,
- 27:36Speaker 1: the more valuable it comes. It becomes I can't stand
- 27:40Speaker 1: for you to waste my time because my time is
- 27:44Speaker 1: valuable to me. I don't want to engage my effort
- 27:48Speaker 1: doing things that I am not effective at. And sometimes
- 27:53Speaker 1: you have to pray for God to give you the
- 27:58Speaker 1: stature that is necess sih not in your eyes, in
- 28:02Speaker 1: the eyes of those that you hope to influence. So
- 28:06Speaker 1: God created trouble to raise Joshua's influence. Okay, that's where
- 28:15Speaker 1: we left off Sunday. God created trouble because how you
- 28:18Speaker 1: manage crisis changes how people see you.
- 28:24Speaker 2: Okay.
- 28:24Speaker 1: So we started talking about the president in Ukraine and
- 28:28Speaker 1: we started talking about how he said I don't need evacuation,
- 28:32Speaker 1: I need ammunition, and all of a sudden, that one
- 28:35Speaker 1: phrase changed how people saw him. What you say in
- 28:40Speaker 1: a storm changes how people see you, changes how they
- 28:45Speaker 1: respect you. That's why the enemy is always trying to
- 28:49Speaker 1: get you to go off under pressure, because the enemy
- 28:56Speaker 1: knows that if you go off under pressure, you decrease
- 29:00Speaker 1: your influence with your hysteria. If you want to be strong,
- 29:08Speaker 1: you want to be strong under pressure, then you gain
- 29:12Speaker 1: influence under pressure. And in order to be strong, there
- 29:15Speaker 1: are certain things that you need to know. You need
- 29:18Speaker 1: to know that you are doing what you were created
- 29:22Speaker 1: to do, even if it's not a big thing, even
- 29:26Speaker 1: if it's not a great thing to other people. It
- 29:30Speaker 1: only matters to the people that it matters to, and
- 29:33Speaker 1: it shouldn't matter to you what outside people think about
- 29:39Speaker 1: inside influence. The reason we have so much misery in
- 29:45Speaker 1: the world today is that you are because social medium
- 29:49Speaker 1: attempts you to try to get outside people to form
- 29:54Speaker 1: an opinion about your inside ability, and all of a sudden,
- 30:00Speaker 1: if they don't like the posts, you want to take
- 30:01Speaker 1: it down, or if they say something weird, you want
- 30:04Speaker 1: to freak out about it. But in reality, I'm letting
- 30:07Speaker 1: you observe something that is frankly none of your business.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You understand, so your opinion doesn't really matter to me.
- 30:17Speaker 1: If I don't have any authority with you, then it's
- 30:21Speaker 1: just an opinion, and opinions are coming. Everybody's got one.
- 30:26Speaker 1: Everybody's got one. And when you bring yourself down to
- 30:30Speaker 1: the point that you allow people to make you come
- 30:33Speaker 1: off the wall that God has assigned you on because
- 30:37Speaker 1: of somebody's opinion who is not assigned to you, then
- 30:44Speaker 1: you give up your influence over the people you have
- 30:47Speaker 1: influence with because of somebody that doesn't even matter one
- 30:51Speaker 1: way or the other. It doesn't even make any sense
- 30:56Speaker 1: or you hear what I'm saying. So it's not enough
- 30:59Speaker 1: for God to raise your influence in the eyes of
- 31:03Speaker 1: external people. If you're leaking internally. Oh yeah, we're about
- 31:11Speaker 1: to go there. We're about to go there. We're about
- 31:14Speaker 1: to get down into the depths of it. We're about
- 31:17Speaker 1: to get down into the depths of Why Paul prayed
- 31:20Speaker 1: in ephisions that the eyes of your understanding being enlightened,
- 31:26Speaker 1: that you might know. You have to know. It's not
- 31:32Speaker 1: enough for them to know if you don't know, what
- 31:36Speaker 1: is the hope of your calling. So in order for
- 31:41Speaker 1: me to have influence, in influence, it starts in me.
- 31:50Speaker 1: I cannot convince outside people to believe something about me
- 31:56Speaker 1: that I don't believe about myself. That will make you
- 32:01Speaker 1: an impostor. And the stress many of us have right
- 32:06Speaker 1: now is that we have impostor syndrome where we feel
- 32:11Speaker 1: like we are living a fake life. And we think
- 32:14Speaker 1: that we're living a fake life not because we have inconsistencies,
- 32:17Speaker 1: because we all do, but because we are not convinced
- 32:21Speaker 1: of our purpose. So Paul prays that the eyes of
- 32:26Speaker 1: your understanding may be in enlightened. Okay, you can't be
- 32:34Speaker 1: an external light if you don't have internal light. That
- 32:39Speaker 1: the eyes of your understanding might be enlightened. So before
- 32:43Speaker 1: God starts elevating Joshua in the eyes of the people,
- 32:47Speaker 1: he talks to Joshua by himself, and he says, as
- 32:51Speaker 1: I was with Moses, so shall I be with you,
- 32:55Speaker 1: Be strong and very courageous, for I am with thee
- 32:58Speaker 1: to deliver the whethersoever that Joshua, you have to know
- 33:02Speaker 1: you're the man. Then he created the swelling of the
- 33:07Speaker 1: Jordan to give an outer display of what he had
- 33:11Speaker 1: convinced Joshua of inwardly. So the question tonight for you
- 33:16Speaker 1: is are you convinced? Y'all not talking to me, but
- 33:22Speaker 1: I'm talking to you. Are you convinced? Because if you're
- 33:25Speaker 1: not convinced, the enemy has already defeated you. You cannot
- 33:32Speaker 1: influence where you are not fully persuaded. So Paul praised
- 33:38Speaker 1: that the eyes of your understanding might be enlightened, that
- 33:42Speaker 1: you might know, not wish, not the hope, not think,
- 33:46Speaker 1: but that you might know what is the hope of
- 33:49Speaker 1: his calling, and what is the richest of his inheritance
- 33:52Speaker 1: in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of
- 33:55Speaker 1: his power to usward who believed? You have to know
- 33:59Speaker 1: that this is my purpose, this is my place, this
- 34:04Speaker 1: is my gift, this is what I do, this is
- 34:07Speaker 1: what I am. Is not about you knowing it I
- 34:10Speaker 1: have to know it first. You can't have more of
- 34:13Speaker 1: this without having more of that. It all connects together.
- 34:17Speaker 1: And when God increases your influence, he will also increase
- 34:23Speaker 1: your enemies. So how do you thrive in an environment
- 34:34Speaker 1: of conflict? God has increased Joshua's influence with his people,
- 34:42Speaker 1: but he has also increased Joshua's enemies the Hittites of
- 34:46Speaker 1: Jeffy Sites and Garashites. The Canaanites are riding around on
- 34:50Speaker 1: chariots on top of the wall. Why because Joshua's having
- 34:54Speaker 1: an increase? Who am I talking to tonight? Any time
- 34:59Speaker 1: God gives you increase, you'll look out and you'll see
- 35:02Speaker 1: barriers and restrictions that you never saw before. You'll see
- 35:07Speaker 1: what was a creek turn into a river and overflow
- 35:11Speaker 1: its banks and flood Because you're on the verge of
- 35:15Speaker 1: stepping into another level of influence. And when you're on
- 35:19Speaker 1: the verge of stepping into another level of influence, there
- 35:23Speaker 1: will be certain floods that come in your life and
- 35:26Speaker 1: you have to be prepared to deal with the flood
- 35:29Speaker 1: so that you can get to the harvest.
- 35:33Speaker 2: Are you hearing what I'm saying?
- 35:38Speaker 1: So? Why is influence the currency of impact and purpose.
- 35:43Speaker 1: You can't if this water is just water. But if
- 35:48Speaker 1: I put kool aid in it, I will influence it. Okay,
- 35:53Speaker 1: it will never be water again if something as simple
- 35:58Speaker 1: as a tablespool of kool aid will influence this water.
- 36:04Speaker 1: How can you live a life where you are being
- 36:07Speaker 1: poured into something that doesn't change. Somebody out to miss you,
- 36:17Speaker 1: somebody out to call you, somebody out to see about you.
- 36:20Speaker 1: Somebody ought to think, Oh, if you were here, my
- 36:23Speaker 1: life would be better. Influence is not just about you.
- 36:27Speaker 1: It is about your ability to affect the behavior of
- 36:30Speaker 1: those around you. Come on the day you walk in
- 36:37Speaker 1: the room and they don't look up, You've lost influence.
- 36:40Speaker 1: The day you walk in the room they keep on
- 36:42Speaker 1: reading the book, You've lost influence. I don't care whether
- 36:44Speaker 1: it's your kids, your wife, your husband. You need to
- 36:46Speaker 1: measure influence. How did I change what I was exposed to?
- 36:54Speaker 1: And the reason we get frustrated sometimes is that days
- 36:57Speaker 1: go by which we can't get back again, go by
- 37:00Speaker 1: which we can't get back, months go by which we
- 37:03Speaker 1: can't get back, and we cannot see our impact on
- 37:06Speaker 1: those that matter most around us. I'm telling you, but
- 37:15Speaker 1: I say that's real. It's hard to come into a
- 37:19Speaker 1: situation where it's still just like it was for you
- 37:22Speaker 1: got there. If I pour myself into you, you ought
- 37:25Speaker 1: to turn into something else. If I pour myself into you,
- 37:29Speaker 1: you ought to turn into something else. If I pour
- 37:32Speaker 1: my wisdom into you, you ought to turn into something else.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Because if you don't turn into something else, it suggests
- 37:37Speaker 1: to me that I'm impotent and I have no influence
- 37:42Speaker 1: in your life, which leads to frustration because I'm not
- 37:50Speaker 1: seeing any result. So that brings us to the question,
- 37:55Speaker 1: can influence me? Increase? Go to Luke two fifty two.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Some of y'all know exactly where I'm going with this.
- 38:06Speaker 2: And Jesus.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Increased in wisdom and stature and in favor with God
- 38:20Speaker 1: and Man. Jesus increased in wisdom and stature and in
- 38:29Speaker 1: favor with God and Man. Some people think if you
- 38:34Speaker 1: increase with God, you can't increase with man. Come on,
- 38:39Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna talk to the deep folks in here
- 38:42Speaker 1: a minute. You running around with all this kind of people,
- 38:45Speaker 1: You're doing, all of this kind of stuff, You've done
- 38:46Speaker 1: all of that. They think true holiness is increasing with
- 38:50Speaker 1: favor with God and not with man, but Jesus increased
- 38:55Speaker 1: with favor with God, and somebody shall increase. Okay, if
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'm going to increase my influence, I've already told you
- 39:11Speaker 1: there's gonna be some restrictions, and there's gonna be some attacks,
- 39:16Speaker 1: and there's going to be some adversities. But as I
- 39:20Speaker 1: am exposed to it, God builds up my tolerance to
- 39:25Speaker 1: the level of my influence. Oh, is somebody getting anything
- 39:33Speaker 1: out of this tonight? God builds up my tolerance to
- 39:37Speaker 1: the level of my influence. That's why I don't want
- 39:41Speaker 1: to live your life, because I haven't been built up
- 39:45Speaker 1: enough to have tolerance to be you. I have tolerance
- 39:50Speaker 1: to handle my level of influence. That's why I can't
- 39:54Speaker 1: put my mouth on you and what you did, because
- 39:57Speaker 1: I don't know what you're going through on your level
- 40:01Speaker 1: of y'all don't hear what I'm saying. It's easy for
- 40:04Speaker 1: people to sit back in a cracker box and start
- 40:07Speaker 1: talking about somebody on Capitol Hill because you don't have
- 40:11Speaker 1: tolerance for the level of pressure they're under. You say,
- 40:15Speaker 1: I don't understand. No, you don't understand, So shut up
- 40:21Speaker 1: to the people that God is increasing, don't stop growing
- 40:27Speaker 1: because of the attacks, because the attacks are not worthy
- 40:34Speaker 1: to be compared to the glory that shall be revealed
- 40:38Speaker 1: in You. Don't stay down low to make other people comfortable.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Don't diminish yourself so that you won't make them uncomfortable.
- 40:49Speaker 1: Their comfort is not your responsibility. Go ahead and make
- 40:54Speaker 1: them uncomfortable, and let them say whatever they've got to say,
- 40:59Speaker 1: because God is getting ready to increase your influence. Who
- 41:03Speaker 1: am I talking to? In fact, you can tell who
- 41:07Speaker 1: can grow with you and who can go with you
- 41:13Speaker 1: by who gets uncomfortable at your growth.
