- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on, Uh huh, I sure will.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Good morning everybody.
- 0:06Speaker 1: You're listening to the voice, Come on, dig me now,
- 0:10Speaker 1: one and only Steve Harvey.
- 0:12Speaker 2: I got a radio show. Real grateful for that. You know.
- 0:15Speaker 1: It's funny. I remember when I first started out in radio.
- 0:19Speaker 1: A lot of my peers laughed at me. Some of
- 0:22Speaker 1: it was being mean spirited, some of it was just
- 0:24Speaker 1: you know, mocking me. I'm used to stuff like that.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But I had a special guest on my show, Joe Oldstein,
- 0:32Speaker 1: and you know something, man, he said something that was.
- 0:35Speaker 2: I can't remember the scripture.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I don't know exactly how it were like we were
- 0:38Speaker 1: having a long conversation, but the gist of it was,
- 0:42Speaker 1: don't be upset with where you are now, and don't
- 0:45Speaker 1: be upset with the small things in your life. Be
- 0:48Speaker 1: grateful for the small things and the small position that
- 0:51Speaker 1: you have right now, because you don't know where that's going.
- 0:54Speaker 1: You don't know what that's gonna be one day, you
- 0:55Speaker 1: don't know what that's gonna lead to. And that was
- 0:58Speaker 1: very warming team hear him say that, But it also
- 1:02Speaker 1: reminded me of when I started in radio, how small
- 1:05Speaker 1: it was. It reminded me of when I started in
- 1:08Speaker 1: stand up making twenty five dollars a show. It reminds
- 1:12Speaker 1: me of not having a home at a period in
- 1:15Speaker 1: my life and what God has allowed me to live
- 1:19Speaker 1: in now. So don't be distraught over your position now,
- 1:24Speaker 1: and don't be ungrateful or unappreciative for the things you
- 1:28Speaker 1: have now because you don't know what that's going to
- 1:29Speaker 1: grow into. And that's really the gist of that I
- 1:32Speaker 1: got from what he was saying. I just wanted to
- 1:34Speaker 1: share that with you, that where you are now is
- 1:37Speaker 1: so temporary because now, like I've said before, now is
- 1:41Speaker 1: a fleeting moment. Right after you finish saying now, that
- 1:44Speaker 1: moment that you claimed as now, that's gone. So the
- 1:48Speaker 1: where you are now is a very fleeting process.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Now.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You can change where you are now, and you can
- 1:55Speaker 1: change how you feel about where you're at now, and
- 1:58Speaker 1: you can change about where you're going by simply changing
- 2:02Speaker 1: your mind. It is no difference. I'm telling you, folks.
- 2:07Speaker 1: The thing that I've learned about successful people is not
- 2:11Speaker 1: so much of what they do. It's not what they have.
- 2:15Speaker 1: The biggest thing I've learned about successful people is how
- 2:18Speaker 1: they think. That's the thing that's different. It's how they think.
- 2:24Speaker 1: And I'm telling you that you can change the way
- 2:27Speaker 1: you think on any subject and start becoming successful towards
- 2:32Speaker 1: that starting now, you have to understand that. Man, the
- 2:37Speaker 1: biggest difference I've noticed between successful people and non successful
- 2:42Speaker 1: people is how they think. I was reading What's God
- 2:47Speaker 1: said that he was taught all wrong about money. He
- 2:50Speaker 1: said that his father was very negative about money. He
- 2:54Speaker 1: all throughout his life he heard his father say, you know,
- 2:57Speaker 1: people who got money have walked on somebody to get it,
- 3:00Speaker 1: or cheated somebody to get it. People who have money,
- 3:03Speaker 1: money is the root of all evil. Money is money
- 3:07Speaker 1: is this And people who got money, you know, don't
- 3:10Speaker 1: deserve it.
- 3:10Speaker 2: They've done something wrong to get it. Yah to y'all.
- 3:13Speaker 1: So, he said, he grew up the whole time thinking
- 3:15Speaker 1: that having money was something was wrong with that.
- 3:18Speaker 2: He discovered that it wasn't. Look.
- 3:21Speaker 1: You can choose to be successful anywhere you want to.
- 3:23Speaker 1: I've chosen several ways to be successful. I want to
- 3:27Speaker 1: be a very very successful father. I think that's one
- 3:30Speaker 1: of the things that's paramount in my life that I
- 3:32Speaker 1: really am working hard right now to become a successful father,
- 3:38Speaker 1: not a successful father in terms of money, but a
- 3:42Speaker 1: successful father in terms of offering the amount of love
- 3:46Speaker 1: and guidance and leadership and the example that my children
- 3:50Speaker 1: need to look at. That's what I'm really really working
- 3:53Speaker 1: hard at now. I want to be successful as a father,
- 3:56Speaker 1: but also I want to be successful as a husband.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I want Marjorie to always know that she can count
- 4:02Speaker 1: on me, to not have to wonder about me or
- 4:05Speaker 1: look for me.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You know.
- 4:06Speaker 1: I want her to feel secure in the fact that
- 4:10Speaker 1: I really have gotten it right, that I really am
- 4:14Speaker 1: focused on being a good husband to her because it
- 4:17Speaker 1: means so much to.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Me, you know.
- 4:19Speaker 1: So I'm working hard on a lot of levels. I'm
- 4:21Speaker 1: working hard and trying very strong to be a successful
- 4:25Speaker 1: motivator of people. I want to be a share of
- 4:29Speaker 1: information to people that will uplift others and give others
- 4:32Speaker 1: the same things that I've learned through the trials and
- 4:36Speaker 1: tribulations of my life. But at the same time share
- 4:39Speaker 1: that information and use the power of this microphone to
- 4:43Speaker 1: uplift people, you know, not to destroy. My show is
- 4:46Speaker 1: not about Ooh, guess what so and so said? Guess
- 4:48Speaker 1: what so and so did. I don't like mean spirited
- 4:50Speaker 1: things about people, you know, I joke with people who
- 4:53Speaker 1: calling this that's another thing. But I don't like destroying
- 4:56Speaker 1: people with the power of the microphone. So I'm working
- 4:58Speaker 1: very hard on being success a lot of areas of
- 5:01Speaker 1: my life now. Also, I do care about being financially
- 5:04Speaker 1: successful too, because my father. One of the gifts he
- 5:08Speaker 1: gave me was very simple gift. He told me a
- 5:10Speaker 1: long time ago. He said, son, the best thing you
- 5:13Speaker 1: can do for poor people is not be one of them.
- 5:16Speaker 1: And that stuck with me. And this was a hard
- 5:19Speaker 1: working man who was a coal miner who worked construction
- 5:23Speaker 1: his entire life. My father didn't have an easy life man.
- 5:27Speaker 1: My father didn't sit behind a microphone. My father didn't
- 5:30Speaker 1: come to work and people cheered for him. My father
- 5:33Speaker 1: wasn't famous. My father was just a go get it dude.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That he instilled that in me. And I've taken that
- 5:40Speaker 1: and applied it to my craft and I thank God
- 5:42Speaker 1: for him for that. But I do try to be
- 5:45Speaker 1: financially successful so that I can do some things with
- 5:48Speaker 1: it to help some other people. Now, am I opposed
- 5:51Speaker 1: to having nice things?
- 5:53Speaker 2: No? Do I apologize for having nice things? No?
- 5:56Speaker 1: And why should I I work? You know I'm not
- 6:00Speaker 1: and I'm not on the radio asking to give me money,
- 6:03Speaker 1: you know, so I can go buy a car. I'm working,
- 6:06Speaker 1: so I don't feel how you want to feel. And
- 6:08Speaker 1: other people do feel that way about it. But if
- 6:11Speaker 1: success in terms of finance is what you're lacking, you
- 6:15Speaker 1: can go about the business of doing that. I'm writing
- 6:18Speaker 1: a book, and that whole book is about teaching people
- 6:21Speaker 1: how to become successful. And man, I'm breaking it down
- 6:24Speaker 1: in a way where everybody can get it, man, because
- 6:27Speaker 1: I want the college student to get it, you know.
- 6:30Speaker 1: I want the working mom to get it, the single
- 6:32Speaker 1: mom to get it. The hard working father that has
- 6:35Speaker 1: been trying to hold his family together can get it.
- 6:38Speaker 1: The father that ain't ever got it together and feel
- 6:41Speaker 1: that because of that reason, he can't be the father
- 6:43Speaker 1: he needs to be. I'm writing something, man, to put
- 6:46Speaker 1: it into words, to let you know that God is
- 6:49Speaker 1: a forgiving God, and that God is a merciful God,
- 6:53Speaker 1: and that God can get you out of any situation
- 6:56Speaker 1: you find yourself in. You just can't beat yourself up
- 7:00Speaker 1: every time you make a mistake. I make mistakes all
- 7:02Speaker 1: the time, man, I just got to remind myself to
- 7:05Speaker 1: get up. I ask God for forgiveness. I will call
- 7:08Speaker 1: on his mercy and his grace and I get up
- 7:11Speaker 1: and I go again. But it's coming, man. And if
- 7:13Speaker 1: finance success is what you want, you got to change
- 7:16Speaker 1: your mind. You got to start thinking about how to
- 7:19Speaker 1: produce it. The first thing you do is you got
- 7:22Speaker 1: to ask. You got to ask to have a life
- 7:25Speaker 1: and have a life more abundantly. That's a scripture that
- 7:29Speaker 1: He comes to you to give you life and to
- 7:32Speaker 1: give you life more abundantly.
- 7:34Speaker 2: That's a scripture. That ain't a joke, that ain't a theory.
- 7:37Speaker 1: That's a fact, and the fact that if you don't
- 7:40Speaker 1: have a life of abundance, you can get that by asking.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Then it starts by believing. And how too, don't even
- 7:46Speaker 1: worry about that. He takes care of that himself. He'll
- 7:49Speaker 1: send the stuff your way. But you got to be
- 7:51Speaker 1: willing to put some effort in this thing now, and
- 7:53Speaker 1: you can do it.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Okay.
- 7:54Speaker 1: I know I was a little around the place today,
- 7:56Speaker 1: but that's what it was. So you know, let's go
- 7:58Speaker 1: get it.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Same to the Steve Harvey Morning Show
