Malcolm Chapter 9 - The Salmon Trout
In which Malcolm encounters the spirited and quarrelsome Mrs Catanach while endeavouring to sell his fish, leading to a curious and somewhat vexatious exchange that reveals much of the temper and tales of the town; and thereafter he visits the ancient and storied Lossie House, where a solemn and tender moment with Miss Horn imparts a quiet lesson on life and death. The episode unfolds amidst the quaint and rugged beauty of the landscape, and through gentle dialogue, hints at deeper undercurrents of forgiveness, memory, and human frailty.
