Latest / Matt and Alex / Alex’s Password Sucks
Transcript
- 0:02S1: A listener. Production.
- 0:04S2: Snuggle up with 20 minutes of the fur balls coughed
- 0:08S2: up by two of the cutest little kittens wrestling their
- 0:11S2: way across the on demand ecosphere. Oh, it's Matt and
- 0:15S2: Alex all day breakfast.
- 0:17S3: I keep seeing these TikToks about Australian sushi. Did you?
- 0:21S3: Have you seen these TikToks?
- 0:22S4: I saw something like it. Is it. Are we the
- 0:25S4: only country that has the seaweed on the outside?
- 0:27S3: Yeah, but like, this is the thing. I didn't know
- 0:29S3: that this was an Australian thing. And people are calling
- 0:33S3: it Australian sushi.
- 0:36S4: Mhm.
- 0:36S3: So yeah. Like that thing that you see in the shot,
- 0:38S3: like when you go to a sushi shop and you
- 0:40S3: can just choose a roll and walk out of there
- 0:42S3: that people don't do that. I don't understand that.
- 0:44S4: That's not how else is it done around the world.
- 0:48S3: Well they usually do like little nigiri or sushi, sort of,
- 0:51S3: you know, the reverse wrapped outside rice pieces cut up
- 0:54S3: into four. Yeah. They're not doing the rolls, man.
- 0:56S4: Then your rice all falls away. If you hold on
- 0:59S4: to the seaweed, it all stays inside.
- 1:01S3: Do you know what? I think we got to take
- 1:03S3: this as a big W for this country. Yeah. And I.
- 1:06S3: And I think that I don't know who did it.
- 1:08S3: Who started it. Yeah, but I reckon if you go
- 1:11S3: to a huge hardware store in Japan, they're probably doing
- 1:15S3: these at the front. They should be doing these at
- 1:17S3: the front of them. Every, every Saturday and Sunday. This
- 1:21S3: should be the Japanese sausage sizzle.
- 1:23S4: And it's a square of seaweed sort of paper in a,
- 1:27S4: in a diagonal. And you put rice along the bottom
- 1:30S4: and then you put your, your salmon salmon.
- 1:33S3: On the top, the.
- 1:34S4: Middle and drizzle.
- 1:35S3: A little bit of soy sauce over it. And they,
- 1:38S3: I was going to say Bob's your uncle, but it'd
- 1:40S3: probably be more like Takashi. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:43S4: Our friend Takashi Wakasugi. Well, get him over there. He
- 1:46S4: could be the face of it. Hey, thank you so
- 1:48S4: much for joining us today. I apologize, but you're going
- 1:52S4: to hear me complain in a moment.
- 1:54S3: Oh, I can't wait. Let's not even bother saying what
- 1:56S3: else is happening on the show. Let's just dive right in.
- 1:57S3: So Matt and Alex all day breakfast. Hope you're having
- 1:59S3: a good one.
- 1:59S5: Let's get this show on the road.
- 2:01S6: Let's go. Here we go, here we go, here we go.
- 2:05S4: I was liking it for a little while there. Matt Okine.
- 2:08S4: I was loving it, actually.
- 2:11S3: Um, okay. What are we talking about here? Is this
- 2:14S3: one of those situations where you decided to, um, you know,
- 2:18S3: you were out with your mates and one of you at, like,
- 2:20S3: 2 a.m. in the morning said, how many chicken nuggets
- 2:23S3: do you think I can eat? And so then you
- 2:24S3: sat down in the car park of your favorite fast
- 2:27S3: food eatery and took on like 100 nuggets. And by
- 2:30S3: the time you get to nugget 23, you're out. You're like, ah,
- 2:33S3: I've done I've made a mistake here.
- 2:35S4: No, the closest I've come to that was after the
- 2:37S4: music festival Zurich Open Air. Uh, in Zurich. I just
- 2:42S4: smashed 24 by myself. No regrets. Could have done another 24. Um, no,
- 2:47S4: I was talking about the future. The future was pretty
- 2:50S4: good for a while there. Like, you know, technology, cruising along.
- 2:54S4: I bloody love clean drinking water. How good is that? Oh, man.
- 3:00S4: Straight from the tap in your house. Great.
- 3:02S3: It is so good. I was a snob for a
- 3:05S3: while where I wouldn't drink the bathroom tap water. Even
- 3:08S3: though it's all the same water I like. If I was, like,
- 3:11S3: upstairs in my bedroom and I woke up in the
- 3:13S3: middle of the night and I was thirsty, I would
- 3:15S3: feel like it was really gross to drink water out
- 3:17S3: of the bathroom tap water for some reason. But it's.
- 3:19S4: Interesting.
- 3:20S3: Then, you know, around about 1617 I realized same water
- 3:24S3: and it saved a lot of time. I got to
- 3:27S3: tell you.
- 3:28S4: Well, for a while there in Warrnambool, the bathroom tap
- 3:30S4: water for some reason was better than the kitchen tap.
- 3:32S4: So I changed, I changed over. I then I started
- 3:36S4: to think it was gross from the kitchen tap and
- 3:38S4: bathroom was the way to go. So anyway, no, that
- 3:41S4: was a good one. Um, TV. I watch a lot
- 3:44S4: of it. I can watch the sport on it. Great.
- 3:48S4: We've done well. Good work future. You've done really well.
- 3:51S3: Yeah. God, it's easy now, isn't it, with the more
- 3:53S3: connected to the internet.
- 3:54S4: But yesterday, Matt Okine. I had to change my tune
- 4:00S4: when I was forced to log in to my vacuum. Oh.
- 4:08S4: And I didn't remember my password for my own vacuum.
- 4:12S3: Oh, no.
- 4:13S4: And so I have to reset my password for my
- 4:16S4: own vacuum. And I said, righto, future. That's enough of you.
- 4:21S4: Thank you. We've gone too far. Let's chuck a u-ey
- 4:26S4: on this.
- 4:27S3: Oh, yeah.
- 4:27S4: Because things are actively getting worse.
- 4:31S3: Um.
- 4:32S4: Do you know the indignity of not being able to
- 4:36S4: log into your vacuum? And I'm standing there next to
- 4:39S4: the piece of. Like the bits of dust or like,
- 4:42S4: salt and vinegar chips on my floor that I need
- 4:45S4: this other thing that's also in the room to come
- 4:48S4: and pick it up from the thing on my phone.
- 4:50S4: I should have just bent down and picked it up myself.
- 4:53S4: And instead, I'm logging in to a robot vacuum so
- 4:58S4: that it can do a little loop because I can't
- 5:00S4: be bothered pushing back and forth with my arm. I
- 5:04S4: am outraged at both the future and myself.
- 5:07S3: The thing that always gets me is when those particular devices,
- 5:11S3: or let's say it's like Queensland Ballet or something, you know,
- 5:15S3: I'm trying to buy tickets to something, just something really basic.
- 5:18S3: Yet they're the ones who have the most complex password structure,
- 5:24S3: you know? They're like, no, you have to have a
- 5:26S3: special character. I'm like, it's a vacuum. I don't care
- 5:30S3: if someone hacks this. Let them have the password.
- 5:34S4: Oh, no. Someone hacked my vacuum and cleaned my house
- 5:38S4: for me. Good. Let him have the part. Make it. Password. One. Two. Three.
- 5:44S4: I don't care. Let them clean my floor. Unbelievable.
- 5:49S3: Yeah. That is so annoying.
- 5:51S4: We're going down the wrong path, mate.
- 5:53S3: So is this. If you've got. You've got a robot.
- 5:55S4: Have you got a little robot that buzzes around and
- 5:59S4: picks up all the dirt and then goes back to
- 6:01S4: the thing and then, like, goes, zoo. It sucks it
- 6:03S4: out of that. Puts it in a bag.
- 6:05S3: So what's the password for? Like what? What is the.
- 6:07S3: What did it?
- 6:08S4: I don't know. My accounts with the guy. It's there
- 6:11S4: to harvest my data. I know it.
- 6:12S3: Is. It's. Mate. It's listening to you. It's listening to
- 6:15S3: you right now.
- 6:16S4: Sitting next to it. It probably can hear me.
- 6:19S3: I hope you didn't say anything bad about it after
- 6:21S3: recording this.
- 6:22S4: It's probably listening to me back to base, going. Oi!
- 6:25S7: We've got we've got someone. We've got to get rid
- 6:28S7: of him.
- 6:29S3: Yeah. Back him up in the middle of the night.
- 6:32S3: You're going to be asleep. You just wake up.
- 6:36S4: It's gonna happen.
- 6:37S3: There'll be a pistol sticky taped to it, just pointing
- 6:40S3: at you. Holy crap. I'm sorry. And you know what?
- 6:45S3: You know the worst thing about a killer vacuum? Clean
- 6:48S3: up all the evidence real well. I hope it's not
- 6:55S3: one of those ones with the mop and everything, bro.
- 6:56S3: It'll clean. It'll wipe the blood up. You will be gone,
- 7:00S3: and no one will know a thing.
- 7:03S4: I actually was taken by the mop as well. And
- 7:08S4: I'm like, oh, this would be good. Little did I
- 7:09S4: know it would be removing evidence of my own murder.
- 7:13S4: I was paying extra so that my case could not
- 7:16S4: be solved.
- 7:19S3: So does it have the mop on it? Like real
- 7:22S3: talk here. We've we've talked about the.
- 7:23S4: No, I don't have the mop.
- 7:25S3: The vacuums okay. Because I still I still don't know
- 7:27S3: whether I should get one or not. Um.
- 7:29S4: Or what's the thing I've already put in the password
- 7:31S4: once and it's like, oh, you haven't used this for
- 7:34S4: a long, long enough. Put it in again. I don't
- 7:37S4: remember what my password is for this, because I don't
- 7:39S4: want to make the password for my vacuum the same
- 7:42S4: as the password for my bank. You know, so.
- 7:46S3: I know.
- 7:47S4: I'm not going to give this cleaning company the same.
- 7:50S4: They're not going to be as careful with the data
- 7:52S4: as the bank. So I got to change it. So
- 7:55S4: then you come in, I'm like, well, I don't know
- 7:56S4: what it is now. It's not the one I use
- 7:58S4: all the time, God damn it.
- 8:00S3: Well, look, we're very I'm very glad you ended up.
- 8:04S3: You had to do. Forgot your password, didn't you? You
- 8:06S3: had to click it.
- 8:06S4: Yes I did.
- 8:08S3: That is so annoying.
- 8:09S4: They send me a thing to my email, but because
- 8:13S4: the emails open the link within the email you got
- 8:16S4: on the top left, you got to click done and
- 8:17S4: then it disappears and it says, oh, use the code,
- 8:20S4: but the codes in the email. But if I click
- 8:22S4: done it, it goes away from the page. Anyway, that's
- 8:28S4: a complicated side quest that I also had to navigate.
- 8:32S3: Well, look, you know, you know who doesn't have that problem? Henry.
- 8:39S4: Vacuuming. Pete. Vacuum technology peaked when we drew a face
- 8:44S4: on the side of it.
- 8:45S3: I'm telling you, I that was. I live with Henry
- 8:48S3: and Henry is does not ask password does not ask questions.
- 8:53S3: And he's always in a good mood. I'll tell you
- 8:55S3: that much. He is. He is always rather cheeky. That
- 9:02S3: little vacuum.
- 9:03S4: You. Always happy to see you.
- 9:06S8: Order up.
- 9:13S9: Just how you like it. Perfect.
- 9:15S3: You say Daiso. That technology's gone too far. The future's
- 9:18S3: going too far. But we dialed it back a little
- 9:20S3: bit recently with Sophia. She bought. She got a little, um,
- 9:24S3: little watch digital watch given to her by her grandma.
- 9:27S3: This is sort of like a similar to, like, you know,
- 9:29S3: your classic Casio. Just a basic digital watch. Just tell
- 9:34S3: the time. I was, I was showing Sophia some of
- 9:37S3: the classic games that you can play, you know, which
- 9:39S3: is press start on the stopwatch and try and stop
- 9:42S3: it on exactly one second.
- 9:44S4: That is, I played that the other day on my phone.
- 9:46S4: It's still the best game on my phone. I haven't
- 9:49S4: uploaded any others.
- 9:50S3: This is the original DS. You know, like this. This
- 9:54S3: is handheld entertainment.
- 9:56S4: As well as that, it was start and stop the
- 9:59S4: quickest that you can. I quite like that phone game
- 10:04S4: as well.
- 10:05S3: That watch game.
- 10:06S4: 008 just did it. Then cop that Matt.
- 10:10S3: Oh yeah zero eight is is as good as a
- 10:12S3: as it can get really. Especially on the on the
- 10:14S3: on the old watches. But um, also it wasn't great
- 10:18S3: when because Sofia is like there's only four buttons you
- 10:21S3: can do. So Sofia is just pressing or mashing the buttons,
- 10:23S3: doing whatever. Then 3:00 in the morning, Belinda sleeping. I
- 10:31S3: was away for a bit, um, working. But Belinda's sleeping.
- 10:34S3: 3:00 in the morning. Beep beep beep beep.
- 10:40S10: Beep beep beep beep. Like, what the hell is that sound?
- 10:44S3: And Sofia has just set the alarm for her watch
- 10:48S3: for 3 a.m. by just just by mashing buttons. And
- 10:52S3: this thing just would not stop. And Belinda doesn't know
- 10:55S3: how to turn it off. So every night for the
- 10:57S3: past week.
- 10:58S4: Sofia still sleeping?
- 10:59S3: Yeah. So every night for the last week at 3 a.m.,
- 11:02S3: it's just like beep beep, It's like, how do I
- 11:05S3: turn off this stupid alarm? But it's really not easy.
- 11:09S3: It took me ages to to do it. But you've
- 11:12S3: got to be careful with technology. Daiso, these new fancy
- 11:15S3: watches that are happening. Do you see the news that
- 11:17S3: came out of Download Festival a couple of years back?
- 11:20S3: Because it's coming up again and they're getting they're getting
- 11:24S3: big requests from the organizers and from emergency services and
- 11:27S3: from police who are saying, hey, if you're going to
- 11:31S3: download Festival, the heavy metal festival in Leicestershire, take off
- 11:37S3: your smartwatch.
- 11:40S4: Oh, why is that? Is it going to hear the, um,
- 11:43S4: the hard, heavy Satanist music and uprise against us?
- 11:47S3: No, it's because everyone in the pit, everyone in the mosh,
- 11:51S3: people getting bumping into each other, stomping on each other
- 11:54S3: and stuff like that, apparently. Apparently the 999 calls, which
- 12:01S3: is the 911 or the 000 calls Died in the
- 12:06S3: space of the festival because everyone's. Getting, like, smashed around and.
- 12:11S4: In the pit. And they're wearing their smartwatch.
- 12:14S3: And.
- 12:15S4: Thinks it's they've had a car crash, but instead they've
- 12:17S4: just moshing to some Megadeth.
- 12:21S3: Yes, seriously. The calls were made automatically from smartwatches and
- 12:25S3: other devices worn by fans, because the tech assumed that
- 12:27S3: people in mosh pits had been in a collision. So. Man.
- 12:34S4: If I know anything about metal fans and you know,
- 12:39S4: I'm not claiming that I do know much, those kind
- 12:43S4: of warnings from the police are less of a warning
- 12:47S4: and more of a challenge. How big a collision can
- 12:52S4: we have here? How many emergency signals can we fire out?
- 12:56S4: This is one of the most intense moches of all time.
- 13:00S4: Let's get eight smartwatches on and see if we can
- 13:02S4: cause a nine mosh pile up.
- 13:06S3: Well, apparently this year's festival has Green Day Korn Korner playing.
- 13:14S3: I mean.
- 13:15S4: I watched Woodstock 99 again. So did the other day.
- 13:19S3: Man. Oh, man.
- 13:25S4: Ah.
- 13:27S3: And also, the fancy dress theme is Friday the 13th.
- 13:30S4: So this.
- 13:31S3: Is.
- 13:32S4: That's not, uh. It's not going to be calming anyone down.
- 13:36S3: Actually. Carnage there.
- 13:39S4: Well, heading to download. Just make sure you put your
- 13:42S4: crash test dummy stickers on the side of your body,
- 13:44S4: because things are gonna get rowdy.
- 13:58S11: Sweet.
- 14:00S3: Well, die. So I have to say that I had
- 14:04S3: one of the nicest weekends in a long time.
- 14:09S4: Oh that's good.
- 14:10S3: And that is because last Friday the 13th, a day
- 14:18S3: that is traditionally very bad luck. You know, a bit gruesome, terrifying.
- 14:25S3: We finally closed.
- 14:27S4: On your new house.
- 14:29S3: On this new house fiasco.
- 14:31S4: Oh my gosh. Congratulations my man.
- 14:35S12: Bro, you don't get. You don't understand. It has been.
- 14:39S3: I mean, you do understand because I've been bloody complaining
- 14:40S3: about it for the last. Literally since I looked in
- 14:44S3: my I looked in my phone 21st of January is
- 14:47S3: when we went to that stupid inspection, the very first
- 14:52S3: known that if you just decide to drop into a
- 14:56S3: house inspection, you could lose five months of your life
- 15:00S3: and about $200,000 in stamp duty real estate agent fees
- 15:06S3: and moving fees. Okay, that is money you will not
- 15:12S3: see back. Gone.
- 15:14S4: That's so funny. Because how much of your life have
- 15:15S4: improved if you, just at the start said, I'm just
- 15:18S4: going to have a splurge. I'm just going to spend
- 15:19S4: $200,000 splurging on myself for a year.
- 15:23S3: Oh my God.
- 15:23S4: Imagine that year of your life.
- 15:25S3: Imagine before we bought our current house, if we'd just
- 15:27S3: spent 200 grand more on buying a better one. You know.
- 15:32S4: Like.
- 15:33S3: It would have been. We probably wouldn't be in this mess.
- 15:36S3: So anyways, um. Yeah, my partner and I, so we
- 15:41S3: we we we it came down to, you know, I
- 15:44S3: said on Friday that a guy had bought our house. Okay.
- 15:47S3: So then we still needed to satisfy our finance for
- 15:52S3: the house that we ended up buying. I've been telling you,
- 15:55S3: during the week, we sat next to the real estate
- 15:57S3: agent at the dinner. You know, there was so much
- 15:59S3: back and forth. It was like this never ending problem about,
- 16:03S3: you know, this house. And they had originally come back
- 16:05S3: at $600,000 more than we had offered and blah, blah, blah,
- 16:08S3: and we finally came to an agreement on the House.
- 16:14S3: We had to get our finance that came through. We
- 16:17S3: settled at 5 p.m. on Friday, the last day that
- 16:21S3: we could. We got our finance approved. We got the
- 16:25S3: building impressed and approved. We settled on. We said we're
- 16:30S3: settling on the same day and we are finally done.
- 16:34S4: Oh fantastic friend. Fantastic.
- 16:36S3: When we went to breakfast on Saturday, Belinda and I
- 16:39S3: did not once look at our house cameras to see
- 16:43S3: who was walking through our house. It was such a
- 16:45S3: nice feeling.
- 16:48S4: That's great.
- 16:49S3: I just can't.
- 16:49S4: Where have you got your house cameras?
- 16:52S3: Oh, you know, all the usual places. Front door, backyard
- 16:55S3: garage door, you know. So when you're doing the inspections,
- 16:59S3: you're watching people inspect your house. Yeah. You know.
- 17:01S4: Not the indoor ones, because you see videos sometimes of, like,
- 17:05S4: a cat jumping on into a fish tank. There's just.
- 17:08S4: Someone's got a camera set up in their house looking
- 17:10S4: at the like the living room. We do that. One
- 17:13S4: of those.
- 17:13S3: We do that when we go away.
- 17:16S4: Oh.
- 17:17S3: So. Yeah. But I mean, it's almost like it's terrifying
- 17:20S3: because we go away and we put we set it
- 17:22S3: up in the lounge room. And I swear to God,
- 17:24S3: if I, if I got a notification for that, I'd
- 17:29S3: be more scared than I ever like. I wouldn't know
- 17:32S3: what to do.
- 17:33S4: Yeah.
- 17:33S3: It's like when, like when we got the cameras, I
- 17:35S3: was like, but we've already got an alarm system from
- 17:37S3: the previous owners. It had an alarm system, and Belinda
- 17:39S3: was like, no, if I'm lying in bed and I
- 17:43S3: hear that alarm, I'm I'm going to be more scared
- 17:46S3: than ever. Like, that means the person's already in. We
- 17:50S3: need to get them before they get in. Like, yeah, okay.
- 17:54S3: Good point. So, uh, yeah. So yes, it's been done.
- 17:57S3: So thank you very much to everyone who, um, you know,
- 18:00S3: helped or hindered.
- 18:01S4: That's great. When's the day of the big move?
- 18:03S3: Uh, it is next month. Late next month. And that's
- 18:05S3: something that I'm I mean, that's only the beginning. So
- 18:10S3: it's like when they say about having a baby, you know,
- 18:12S3: it's like it's actually that's actually the starting line. You
- 18:15S3: think it's the end when the baby pops out, but
- 18:17S3: that's actually just the beginning of the race. Mhm. You
- 18:20S3: know and so now Belle and I have got got
- 18:22S3: moving and I've got to tell you we do not
- 18:24S3: move well together.
- 18:26S4: Well I was going to say just everyone listening in
- 18:29S4: who's friends with Matt and owns a yurt is just
- 18:33S4: quickly putting their phones on airplane mode for the next month.
- 18:36S4: They're just going, oh no, this phone is about to
- 18:40S4: start blowing up. Hey, haven't chatted for a while. How's
- 18:43S4: it going? Are you. Are anyone out there who's game
- 18:49S4: enough to buy a yurt or a van?
- 18:52S3: Jeez, bro, my next door neighbor.
- 18:55S4: You would get some absolutely sniveling texts from people when
- 19:00S4: it comes to moving time.
- 19:02S3: My next door neighbor's got the yurt, but more recently,
- 19:05S3: to get this deal done. We needed to print something
- 19:08S3: and sign something, and that was a nightmare in itself.
- 19:12S3: I'm like actually physically print it and scan it. Oh
- 19:17S3: my God. So. So we go to print something on
- 19:20S3: our printer. It says, oh you can't print because the
- 19:23S3: cyan is out. And I'm like, I don't want cyan.
- 19:28S3: I don't I don't want to print this in blue, mate.
- 19:31S3: I just need the black. And there's so much black left. Yep.
- 19:36S3: Just printed that. Nah, nah. You need to replace the cyan.
- 19:39S4: Unbelievable. And you know what else? You couldn't pay me
- 19:43S4: $1 million to jump through whatever hoops are required to
- 19:47S4: become a justice of the peace. Imagine the people just.
- 19:52S4: They'd be like World War Z, the zombies at your door.
- 19:56S4: Just come on in. Can you sign this? I need it.
- 19:58S4: That is the justice of the peace. Imagine if people
- 20:01S4: knew that I was a justice of the peace. Can you,
- 20:03S4: can you? I wouldn't get a moment's peace. You wouldn't
- 20:06S4: if you were a JP.
- 20:07S3: Imagine being a JP with a ute.
- 20:10S4: Oh my God. Oh, don't even get in the episode.
- 20:16S4: In the episode. That's too scary even for me. Hey,
- 20:20S4: thank you very much for joining us here on Matt
- 20:22S4: and Alex all day. Breakfast. Let's try and do a
- 20:24S4: shout out if there are any justices of the peace
- 20:27S4: with a ute I want to talk to, I want
- 20:29S4: to interview them, see if they have any time in
- 20:31S4: their day at all. That is unbelievable.
- 20:35S3: Well, thank you for joining us for another Matinale celeb breakfast.
- 20:37S3: We will be back tomorrow. Same time, same place. In
- 20:40S3: the meantime, keep in touch with us at Alex. We
- 20:43S3: love hearing from you and leave us a review if
- 20:45S3: you got a second.
- 20:47S4: If you're not a justice of the peace with the Utes,
- 20:49S4: you have time. If you're a JP with a ute, well,
- 20:53S4: we'll let you go.
- 20:54S3: All right. Bye bye.
- 20:56S2: That's it. The all day breakfast kitchen is closed. Got
- 20:59S2: something to add to the show? Slide into our DMs
- 21:01S2: at Alex.
