- 1:08host Amma Thomas. For God's who love the world, that it gave his
- 1:11only begotten son, that who shall ever shall believe, shall not perish but
- 1:17half liver. That's Team M. Good evening and welcome to the Living End
- 2:22for podcasts. This evening, I have a special guest that you might remember
- 2:29her from last week, and I'm bringing her back because of technical difficulties.
- 2:34But right now we're gonna have a word of prayer. Dear Heavenly Father and
- 2:38the precious matchless name of your son, Jesus have your way on tonight and
- 2:44the name of Jesus. Hallelu Let somebody be touched and inspired by this story.
- 2:52Amen. Now, so next we're gonna have our very excite didn't guess
- 3:00Tycey Winfield, the author of Shattered but Not Broken? How are you?
- 3:08Must elm hi? Miss ty is good to have you back again because last
- 3:16week we had some technical diffically, but we're back this week with you to
- 3:23share your story. You know, one of my most favorite quotes is if
- 3:30your mind can conceive it and your heart can't believe it, then you can
- 3:37achieve it. And you're a living example of putting your heart and soul into
- 3:43something that you birthed and you knew that it was gonna come to manifestation and
- 3:51that it was going to affect women worldwide. So, UM, let's start
- 3:59by you just introducing yourself. I know you were some other people might not
- 4:03know you. Hi, good evening. My name is Tysy Winfield. UM.
- 4:09I'm the author of Shadow but Not Broken and uh CEO of Diamond Lotus
- 4:15Production UM and a strong um mentor where I live in Long Island. Amen.
- 4:27Amen, um you're from Amityville, UM, Long Island. So tell
- 4:31me what inspired you to not only tell your story and your truth, but
- 4:41to share it for the world to see on pages. Well, what inspired
- 4:47me? One would be um you. UM you was a big strong help.
- 4:53You knew me since um you I was seven years old and I was
- 4:57able to um and UH was basically able to come to you prior to us
- 5:03UM working on the book and you always was explain it to me. It's
- 5:09a good idea to unsuppress and write about the book and including you know other
- 5:14um, other mentors um that live where I live, older mentors um to
- 5:19unsuppress the trauma that happened to me. Okay, Um, when you came
- 5:27out and you express your truth to the world, how did your family react
- 5:39to you telling your story? Well, my family, my biological family,
- 5:46wasn't happy, um, because it's basically it's it's a generational curse in my
- 5:51family and from back in the day, you you don't talk about molestation,
- 5:57you don't talk about rape, you don't talk about anything that happened to you.
- 6:00So for me to expose that a couple of family members, Um,
- 6:04they don't like it. They still don't like it, but no one gets
- 6:08to shut me up anymore. My immediate family that I built with my husband
- 6:12is very supportive. My husband and my son and my bones distaughter. They're
- 6:16very supportive in my life and they know my story from the beginning to the
- 6:21end, so they're very supportive on a daily basis. Right now, now,
- 6:27this is a question that because I know that as we were writing your
- 6:35story, a lot of memories was triggered and remember a lot of things that
- 6:45happened to you. How has this affected you? How did writing the book
- 6:54affect you? Mentally, it acted a lot because I had to open some
- 7:01opening. I had to open some closed wounds that I thought that I shut
- 7:06out UM and it it affected me basically, UM. Opening up those wounds
- 7:17wasn't wasn't good because those was hard territories to go back in and to unsuppress
- 7:24everything when you make yourself forget all a hurt and a trauma is not easy.
- 7:30So you caused me to take a look at that girl in the mirror
- 7:34that was hurt and I didn't want to deal with that. But writing a
- 7:39book you put me you opened some doors for me, UM with himself and
- 7:46it's I'm still dealing with opening, unsuppressing on a daily basis, but it's
- 7:50I'm working on it. I'm a working progress. You're working process. You
- 7:55get trust the process. Um, you will get through. You will get
- 8:00through this. And it's what's so UM not remarkable. That's not the word
- 8:09that I want to say. But what stands out to me is like you
- 8:13said that I knew you since you was seven years old, and everybody else
- 8:22saw the tea interior, the shell that you surrounded yourself as so nobody could
- 8:31get in. But I always knew that there was something I didn't know that
- 8:37your story was as deep as it was and that you survive all the things
- 8:43that you've been through as a child. But it made me have more respect
- 8:48for you and to see you as not a victim for being victorious and still
- 8:56achieving the things that you achieved in life to despite what you've been through.
- 9:05So I know that before the book was getting published that I told you to
- 9:13make sure that you set your family down and they understand. So once you
- 9:20set your family down and your husband saw how deep this book was, what
- 9:28was his reaction and how did he still support you? Well? Like you
- 9:37said, you know me from the age of seven and being a strong until
- 9:41now, putting that tough for side up in the multiple personalities that kept me
- 9:48alive during the trauma, because you gotta remember, my molestations started at the
- 9:52age of four and sixteen years of the trauma continued, and then after that
- 9:58was the rate um and then after that being moved to um friends that my
- 10:07mom knew, and then it was daily torture of the same thing, and
- 10:11then living on the street and being homeless, and then become when you have
- 10:18to be on the street, you're gonna do whatever it takes to survive,
- 10:20and that's what I basically was just raised up to do survival to fittis,
- 10:26So that's all I knew. Meeting my husband and then having children actually taught
- 10:33me what love was about. UM. Basically, Uh, my husband,
- 10:39he's a strong supporter because he during the relationship, he kind of my reactions
- 10:46kind of triggered off, basically him asking me what happened to me and then
- 10:50maybe being able to expose it and on a daily we work on it um
- 10:56and then the reflection of me and myself. I work on myself day basically
- 11:01to continue being. You have to work on yourself or you'll break because the
- 11:05trauma can overwhelm you mentally if you allow it to. And I don't believe
- 11:11that. If you can't flash is one thing, but if you can't break
- 11:16you, I don't believe no one can break my soul. So right,
- 11:22So that's why the name of your book is shattered but not broken, that
- 11:28you made it on those broken pieces. You need it to where you are
- 11:35today. Then now we're gonna go briefly to a commercial break and we'll be
- 11:41right back with further questions, and you're gonna let everybody know on what you're
- 11:48doing and how they can reach you. Um, and the next half,
- 11:52but we're going briefly to a commercial. I'll talk to you soon. Thank
- 11:56you. I needed your book review or do you want a little bit more
- 12:05exposure for your new book? Check us out at Www've got sc book gallant
- 12:13friends dot com or email us at SC book Gallant Friends at gmail dot com.
- 12:22We had packages for all authors. Contact us. We're ready to read
- 12:28your new books. I dayre okay. Hello, Hello, and welcome back
- 12:37to the Live Again podcast where I have author and someone who um am happy
- 12:46to cool friend and she's talking about her book Shattered but not Broken. And
- 12:52so we're gonna go on with the second half of the show. And so
- 12:58tell me, um, I know that in life we said goals in life.
- 13:05As you go through each goal and each objective that you've said in life,
- 13:11how do you celebrate your wins? How do you celebrate that you can
- 13:16go on after all you've been through? How do you celebrate living through that
- 13:24trauma? Well, my celebration every day is to stay focused on the dream
- 13:30that I have, which is to one day build a shelter for a little
- 13:35girl that is basically homeless or enforced to care. That's my big dream with
- 13:39the Diamond Lotus production is to be able to build a shelter for homeless women.
- 13:46For women. Agree, I also was a part well throughout my family
- 13:52and throughout the stuff that I through my trauma, I would also was human
- 13:56trafficking. So I also would like to be able to help women that is
- 14:03part of the human trafficking and that their life can was disturb but not taken
- 14:09and if they can. Now I'm gonna ask you a very deep question,
- 14:18and it's about forgiveness. And we know that the Bible says to forgive seven
- 14:28times, but there's so some things that are so traumatic and so life shattering
- 14:35that we find it hard to forgive. Have you forgiven your molesters or do
- 14:45you still struggle with that? I'm glad you asked me that. Actually it
- 14:48was control of my life so much that God has put that on me to
- 14:54do that. So for the last couple of years, I forgo gave my
- 15:00mom, I forgave my father, I forgave all of the people that decided
- 15:05to try to trauma continue trauma and to do what they did to me.
- 15:11And they don't control my life no more. So I had to forgive them
- 15:16because I don't want to hold that no more. And in being able to
- 15:18forgive them, I was able to see other doors where I can help people
- 15:24to not let anything that hurts you physically control you your mind, body,
- 15:30and soul. And for that, my wins is to do everything that I
- 15:33dreamed about and not think of the people that told me I couldn't and not
- 15:37think of the people that told me that how they was going to take me
- 15:41out of this world and what they was going to do in the threats.
- 15:43So my wins is to be the strongest woman I ever could be and to
- 15:48be able to open up all doors or women of my work that I'm That
- 15:54is basically my dream. So that's my wins that I'm actually living daily to
- 15:58make sure that that happens. Yes, And that's that's so true that when
- 16:04we think about forgiveness, we think that it's for the other person, but
- 16:11forgiveness it's really for us that they hold when we hold unforgiveness in our hearts,
- 16:18that they had that hole over us. I remember that. I always
- 16:22tell my students I've been heavy set all my life. So when people used
- 16:30to tease me, and I feel bad about it. I was giving them
- 16:34that power. But when I would say to them first, all right,
- 16:38I know I'm fad. Now what you got, Now what you got,
- 16:44You're not hurting me anymore. And all the people who hurt me before I
- 16:51became a minister, I had to forgive those people and from the playground because
- 17:00little girl refused to grow up. She was still hurt by the things that
- 17:04had happened in her life. So that's when I realized that forgiveness isn't for
- 17:11me. I'm not forgiving them for me, but I'm giving them back to
- 17:15hurt the pain and I'm taking back my power. So I'm glad that you
- 17:22learned those lessons. Um. Where have you found your most success and doing
- 17:38and doing like um and writing your book and the Diamond Lotus the company that
- 17:48you're gonna tell us about in a minute. What is your biggest success?
- 17:56My biggest success is to be the woman that I am today, to be
- 18:03the wife, the mother, the mentor, and to see change in women
- 18:11that came from where we came. And basically back in the seventies when this
- 18:17all this trama started, like back when of course the block and crack was
- 18:21part of this. My wins is to be able to grab me back and
- 18:26every other woman for us to win us back and to stand like we're supposed
- 18:30to stand and let them know that it's not their fault. A lot of
- 18:38children who go through these things that are like if only I was good,
- 18:45if only um I was quiet, and you think that it's something that you
- 18:51did and all your life, because it's like a dog can smell when you're
- 18:59afraid of them, you become vulnerable. So in our lives that people can
- 19:03smell when we're vulnerable, and we're looking for love in all the wrong places
- 19:10because, as you said, when you never experience real love and then love
- 19:15comes along in your husband, in your children, sometimes that trauma that you've
- 19:25been through makes it so that you can't love another human being. You can't
- 19:32appreciate their love because you never had love like that before. So you don't
- 19:40know what right because we don't have that example in our homes, in our
- 19:45neighborhoods, in our communities anymore that we don't have those examples of true men
- 19:56and women. And I know that it does my heart good to say then
- 20:02for you to say that I was one of the people who inspired you.
- 20:06But other than your husband, UM, I know there was them other people
- 20:11that inspired you, Um, to be the woman that you are, to
- 20:17let that little girl grow up and you be the woman that you are.
- 20:21So who else some of those people that inspired you? Um? Oh well,
- 20:29I'm probably not able to mention their names here. But my sister friends.
- 20:33Um uh, she's basically a mom to me. Um. She mentors
- 20:40me on a daily blake basis. We actually work together. Um, she
- 20:44mentor me. She's just like you who coached me for a long time of
- 20:48how to forgive, how to tell my story, how to be able to
- 20:52show me what family looks like, what love looked like. Um, and
- 20:57just support me in those areas where I was missing at and didn't know what
- 21:02it looked like. UM. My husband, Um yeah, and my sister
- 21:11friends Okay, okay, And I know that UM. In your work environment,
- 21:18also, you had people that supported you to be the first, the
- 21:23best version of you that you can possibly be. And UM, I want
- 21:30to be the one of the first to tell you that I really celebrate you
- 21:34because I've seen the growth in you. I've seen a little bit by a
- 21:40little bit that heart eternal shell be picked away, and you learn how to
- 21:48soften up a little bit and show people the heart that you have inside of
- 21:53you. I'm so glad. Like um my motto is that I want to
- 22:00look at people's they're not there outward appearance, but they're hard. So that's
- 22:06why a lot of times I asked for the difficult children, the children that
- 22:11nobody else wants, because you don't wake up in the morning and say I
- 22:17want to go to preschool and kick some foot today. But you had some
- 22:22trauma in your life. Maybe mom and daddy was fighting, maybe there was
- 22:26I remember as we were talking on the subject of molestation. I had a
- 22:32baby in my class, three years old and we were at that time,
- 22:38and she started crying out in her sleep, and I was like, what's
- 22:42the matter, what's the matter? She was like, I don't want to
- 22:45take the black seed. I don't want to take the black sea. And
- 22:49I thought that she was talking about medication or something. And when I spoke
- 22:55with her grandmother, she had been molested by her own father and the black
- 23:00seed that what she was talking about was her father was doing ungodly things to
- 23:06a three year old. And I had to tell her that you'll never have
- 23:12to take the black seed. Here, go ahead and sleep and rest,
- 23:17and you could be a little girl here and I won't let anybody hurt you
- 23:22anything that happens that you want to share with me. But even at that
- 23:29age, at three years old, I had to be a safe place for
- 23:33a girl that was going through and her grandmother thought that just taking her out
- 23:41of that situation was enough, but I had to tell him she needs therapy,
- 23:45It's all right. And that's another thing. The Black churches are not
- 23:51a quip to deal with the people that have the mental issues from this trauma.
- 23:57They want you to get on the prayer line, and prayer does work.
- 24:00I'm not talking against prayer, you know. I love the Lord in
- 24:03prayer, but sometimes you need a little bit more than prayer. When you've
- 24:08been through some things and you you have been traumatizing, victimized that you just
- 24:15can't put a little oil on it, like slide a little oil to me,
- 24:22right, So you need someone. You need someone who knows that you
- 24:29know it's okay not to be okay, that your mental health is important.
- 24:34So can you tell me, Um, what is one thing that Um you
- 24:42would like to share with other I'm not gonna say victims. I'm gonna say
- 24:51other survivors over over other overcomers, because we're victorious and Christ Jesus, So
- 24:59what has made What would you want to say to someone who comes to you
- 25:07and tells you, after reading Shattered but Broken, I know what you're talking
- 25:12about, miss Tysy. What can I do not to feel like a victim
- 25:19anymore and not to feel traumatized anymore? What would you tell that first?
- 25:26They would have to My first thing that I started doing is looking in the
- 25:32mirror. Shattered but not broken is the shattered mirror, and which means I
- 25:36never looked in the mirror, so I didn't even know how I looked.
- 25:38People gave me comments, said how I look It meant nothing to me because
- 25:44I was shattered for so many years and I was I didn't like the girl
- 25:48in the mirror, so I never looked in the mirror. So I would
- 25:52tell them to look in the mirror and meet yourself first, and work on
- 25:56that girl first and speaking in her in her soul every day every day.
- 26:03Know how good you are every day. Don't remember the bad things that they
- 26:07said, yet you was and what you had to do and wear your past,
- 26:12and you have to just get up another thing. Like you said about
- 26:18what weight, I ate my trauma every day, which caused me to gain
- 26:22a lot of weight, have high blood pressure. Now that I'm doing is
- 26:27shred trauma, and I'm working that off as much as I'm shredding it off.
- 26:33So do you have to start in your mind to try to control that
- 26:37thing inside, and you have to go in your heart, and you have
- 26:40to love you from the head to toe and work on yourself even I'm even
- 26:45looking in the mirror, not just my face, my body because this always
- 26:48so tortured. I couldn't look at that, and I don't want to know.
- 26:52I didn't want anyone else to look at it. So working on that
- 26:56for twenty plus years, you have to work on yourself. You can't stop.
- 27:02And you need a support system of especially women that know what you're talking
- 27:06about, not reading what you're talking about, not being able to physically feel
- 27:11what you went through to have that kind of conversation, or they won't be
- 27:14able to relate. It's two different stories, right right, So can you
- 27:18tell us a little bit? I here earlier I heard you mention that you
- 27:23are the CEO of Lotus Productions. Can you tell us a little bit about
- 27:30loads production, show us where we can get shattered but not broken, where
- 27:37we can get in touch with you. What is diamond Productions all about?
- 27:42So, diamond production is basically, um, I don't know if you guys
- 27:49can see this. Right here is diamond production. This is my symbol.
- 27:53Oh sorry, right here, this is the diamond Lotus symbol, which this
- 27:59is the diamond and this is the lotus with the diamond and the loadus.
- 28:04They basically the diamond was hard and the lotus is dirt. So when you
- 28:11put those together, that's me. I feel that Diamond Lotus is going to
- 28:17be able to speak to so many women. Um and the product that I'm
- 28:21trying to produce for them to empower them, to show them how strong they
- 28:26are. Um that, and also built up this product, to build this
- 28:32shelter, to be able to give this whole trauma, it's this whole trauma
- 28:38walk of my life. To be able to bless it to to a million
- 28:42women if I can, and to have over a million women said at my
- 28:48table, and that we be able to go out and help women of this
- 28:52because no one talks about it, no one UM. These are some of
- 28:56the items. This is if no one was able to purchase this is Shattered

- 30:03trying to do UM. I'm also interested in trying to find some investors to
- 30:10help me build this whole UM big thing that I'm that's that's that I'm dreaming
