- 0:00Welcome back. Here are the six quick questions. Question number one is what's your wife? Why do you wake up every day and build Perla? Perla.
- 0:19My muggle job is that I'm a web designer. That's what I call it. But my deep purpose, I just like helping make people's dreams come true. And in this day and age, a website is just like a vehicle for that, a vehicle to freedom or whatever it looks like for you. That's what makes me really happy. Oh, I love that. Love that. What has been your kind of favorite marketing moment for yourself or like a highlight for yourself and your business?
- 0:51You know what, it's ended up being a really subtle thing in that the more myself I was and unmasked and open and sort of just real with people, that I've just fostered these amazing connections that I call it sort of the client to bestie pipeline. And I now have just, you know, five to 10 women that really just shout my name from
- 1:17the rooftops and the hype girls, my heart feels literally. And then being the difference between me surviving and thriving and, and having a business. It's just them talking about me. That's my, my main form of marketing. I love that. Love that. So critical to have the hype girls.
- 1:40What is your kind of best business resource? Like where are you going to learn or upskill or, you know, get value from? Look, as a web designer and learning those sorts of things, I learned a lot from a gal called, her business is called Square Stylist. I've also learned a lot from I Love Creative. So I'm an alumni from those schools. And that's just really helped me become sort of,
- 2:10the teacher that I am, I suppose, to people who buy my resources and learn from me. So, yeah, that's the biggest, I would say. Love, love. How do you win the day? Do you have any rituals that are your, like, winning rituals? I have to start the day in nature and with my doggies. So he's my...
- 2:37my massive like, yeah, means of co-regulating and feeling okay to start my day with a bit of dopamine and some nature. So I'm sort of pretty lost if I don't do that. My dog is the love of my life. Question number five, what's been your worst money mistake that you've ever kind of spent in the business and how much did it cost you? Obviously everyone was buying courses.
- 3:07in COVID and upskilling, I went on a 12-month payment plan. I think it ended up costing me about 20K, and it was a sort of sales funnel thing. And so if you follow this funnel and you will...
- 3:27you will sort of earn crazy amounts of money. And I believed it to a certain extent. And honestly, it probably would have worked if I was okay with coercive marketing, but I'm not okay with that. And I dismantled it and I got sales that I felt okay with. So for me, I really struggled with coercive marketing and really overloading people with emails and all that kind of thing. So I just could not.
- 3:51Do it. The crazy flashing banners that are like, click here, click here. And then you're like, oh, I've accidentally subscribed to like, I don't even know what. And I don't even know.
- 4:01what this is. Yeah. Um, I also feel like those things that don't have cancellation clauses that like lock you in for 12 months and like you're paying on repeat. My husband had something similar, but he's was $2,500 a month and they wouldn't let him get out of it anyway. In the end he did. But I'm like, if you're not getting the value, bro, you don't want that person in there anyway, because they're going to be giving you a bad rap. Yeah.
- 4:26that's it hey like I was just I thought oh how can that be worthwhile for them but I guess that's the whole point is that's why it works for them and yeah those direct debits made me feel sick for 12 months kind of like agencies as well when they try and lock you in for a six-month retainer or something and you're just like dude like this is shit like I'm not getting results and I'm not feeling it let me out yeah
- 4:50So stressful. Okay, last question. Question number six. What is just a crazy story, good or bad, from your journey in business? Ooh, gosh. I don't know if it's because I think that I play fairly safe. And I think because I had, I think working in fashion seven to ten years ago,
- 5:21was so toxic that the whole reason I went in business by myself was to attract lovely heart-centered people and I have and so I find it really really shocking when I get the occasional bad egg and then maybe not even that bad for most people's standards it's just like someone not paying is so shocking to me or like
- 5:47You know, so I don't know. Is that such a boring answer? No, no. That's your story. I've been lucky with having good eggs at last. Like that's what I love about my business so much is just being connected with mostly women who are just freaking amazing.
- 6:07I love that. Like-minded souls. Yeah. As are we. Yeah. I have loved this. I'm such a hype girl. I'm so excited for all the other things that we're going to be talking about.
