- 1:17Dowler the Suntan Oil Matter from Hollywood. It's time now for Johnny Dollar,
- 1:26Dave Lawler, Johnny Over Shorty Mutual and Trust Company. Oh hi Dave,
- 1:30long time. Yeah, I know. Listen. Do you own a pair
- 1:33of dark sunglasses and some real loudsports shirts? Mine are so loud I have
- 1:37to keep in a soundproof drawer. Great, but where you'll be at this
- 1:41time tomorrow? Nobody will give me a second look? Oh like where?
- 1:44Well? According to the travel folders. It's quote the land where the summer
- 1:48spends the winter unquote. In other words, Tom Springs, California. Dave,
- 1:52You're on good, but don't forget this can be pretty expensive for your
- 1:55company. Oh more than you know, Johnny seventy five thousand hard cash unless
- 2:00you're able to prove the bracelet Dan Galloway gave to his child bride wasn't really
- 2:05stolen. For a church to Palm Springs at this time of year, I
- 2:07think I could probe anything. Bob Bailey in The Exciting Adventures of the Man

- 2:40account submitted by Special Investigator Johnny Dollar to the Home Office Surety Mutual and Trust
- 2:46Company, Franklin Building, Hartford, Connecticut, following as an account of expenses
- 2:50incurred during my investigation of the sun Tan oil matter. Expense account on one
- 3:00hundred and ninety seven dollars and forty cents Airline Fair and Accidental's Hartford to Palm
- 3:04Springs, California, I registered at La Casa de Paz on South Palm Canyon
- 3:08Drive changed into casual clothes and saundered over the police headquarters. Detective Sergeant Lacey
- 3:14was about to leave for lunch, so I went along with him. Yeah,
- 3:17Dollar, you'd be surprised at how much stuff is lost in this town
- 3:21during the course of just one season. The report we got says it was
- 3:23stolen, Sergeant. Oh, sure, sure, but I doubt it.
- 3:29Seventy five thousand dollars bracelet just five days old. Got to be a little
- 3:32careless of the lady, wouldn't it. Well, if you were married to
- 3:36one of the biggest wild catters in the oil business, maybe you could afford
- 3:38to be careless. What about Dan Galloway, didn't you say he was drilling
- 3:43somewhere around here, about eighty miles south in the middle of the desert,
- 3:46down by Sultan Sea. So Sea. Oh, that's really a big inland
- 3:51lake that lies way down below sea level, isn't it. I want to
- 3:53bring me a check, Dotty, at two hundred and forty five feet below
- 3:55sea level. Dollar, there's oil there. Then Galloway figures it this way.
- 4:00One of the most successful new fields that's been worked in years is deep
- 4:02under the Gulf of Mexico off the coast of Louisiana. There as a lot
- 4:05of salt domes down there, and underneath them are big pools of oil,
- 4:09millions of barrels. So why not under the salt and sea which is all
- 4:13salt deposits owen Os? Maybe has something? Anybody else turling down there?
- 4:17Just Galloway? Who else needs it? I mean any more than he does?
- 4:21Well? Does he all yours? Doddy? How would I know Galloway
- 4:26needs it? But there has been talk around, you know, But if
- 4:29he's hired up, how could he afford that fancy bracelet last week? Yeah?
- 4:32Or the snazzy Italian sports car the week before that? I don't know
- 4:36either dollar. What about his wife? Oh that Roberta? What a doll
- 4:43and in three D? And if you know what I mean, how an
- 4:46old coot like him could ever latch onto a pretty little chick like her?
- 4:49Rough, I'd take it. Roberta is somewhat younger than her husband, Oh,
- 4:54not more than thirty five forty? I see how long have they been
- 4:58married? Two maybe three years? Down in Dallas? I think it was.
- 5:01She's a Texas girl. Well is it working out? I mean are
- 5:04they happy? There's talk about that too? What kind of talk. Oh,
- 5:09it's really just small town gossip. For the most part, ever,
- 5:13hear of sunny Wyman Wyman. No well Sonny is around Roberta's age, one
- 5:17of those kids who came up from nothing, but all the time knew exactly
- 5:20where he was going, you know, made a point of meeting the right
- 5:24people, shaking the right hand. Real nice kid too. What's he do
- 5:27that when the season's over here? He works Pasadena Beverly Hills in LA.
- 5:30Always has something that will intrigue his wealthy friends. This season it's Italian sports
- 5:35cars Cosmo Romas I think they are. And he's the one who sews the
- 5:39Galloway's theirs. He sold Roberta hers any angle Aaron connection with the bracelet there
- 5:46is you let me know. Well if there isn't, what have you been
- 5:49working up to? Well, actually nothing, you see, I still believe
- 5:54it was lost. Expenser con Adam two thirty five dollars for rental of a
- 6:04drive your own car. I found the Galloway place about two miles out north
- 6:09and east of town. As I parked in the broad ue shaped driveway,
- 6:13I noticed a low, shiny sun tan color sports car standing in the shade
- 6:15of a date palm back by the garage. I started over to take a
- 6:19look at it, but the front door of the house open. A Filipino
- 6:21boy appeared, took my name, and showed me into the living room.
- 6:25Through the solid wall of picture windows, I could see that the whole place
- 6:28was built around the kidney shaped swimming pool. Whitey inviting, and so was
- 6:32Roberta Missus Galloway when she stepped into the room a minute of the two later.
- 6:36Hi there, mister dolls nic it's nice, happy to come all the
- 6:40way out here. Yeah, Sargean and Lacey was right. Roberta was a
- 6:44liven doll twenty two or three, trim, petite and with a figure that
- 6:49well, let's not go into that. She said it would be more comfortable
- 6:53out on the l nine beside the pool. I just wish there was something
- 6:58I could tell you about that bracelet that had helped you mind it, mister
- 7:00Dollar. But well, just must have been stolen. Well, it makes
- 7:04no difference in as far as your claim is concerned, Missus Galloway. The
- 7:08company will still have to pay up, you know, and less of course
- 7:12it's fine, Oh I know that. How do you go about your investigation.
- 7:17I mean, do you offer a reward or something? Usually yes,
- 7:21of course, it depends on how much have they offered for my brak Well,
- 7:26frankly I haven't checked on that yet. But now, mister Galloway,
- 7:29did you get Johnny well flame this size? Probably somewhere between ten and thirty
- 7:35percent. It was the matter Johnny your ears out of mile nothing, I
- 7:44just thought I had that's funny. I didn't hear a thing, but I
- 7:48had quick footsteps somewhere in the house. Then the door open and close.
- 7:54Then a few seconds later, the unmistakable growl of a high powered engine thundering
- 7:58out through twin straight pipes. Oh. That probably some hot rod fan in
- 8:03the neighborhood just rolled by. She praddled on for another hour or so,
- 8:07and again asked about possibilities of a reward for a bracelet, But so far
- 8:11as helpful information was concerned, she came up with nothing. So I excused
- 8:15myself and drove back to town. I wanted to talk to the driver of
- 8:18that sports car. I also wanted to check with will Hoyd van Hook,
- 8:22the jeweler who had sold the bracelet. I found his shop on Palm Canyon
- 8:26Drive, a small place, but very ultra ultra as I was about to
- 8:30enter the door a minute Yeah, sure, two or three minutes, and
- 8:39I like your car. Mister Wyman isn't in, that's right. How'd you
- 8:43know? How'd you know mine? Yeah? Real cloak and dagger stuff.
- 8:46Huh. You you knew I was out at Burgers House, didn't you?
- 8:50Well, it seemed pretty obvious when I heard you hot footed for the door
- 8:52and then heard this point size monster yours barrel off. Hey, you wouldn't
- 8:56like to buy a Cosmo roma? Would you? The real lily? Like?
- 9:00Nothing better? But I'm out here on the job. Yeah, I
- 9:01know. That's what I wanted to talk to you about. Well, you
- 9:05know anything that will help me? Not much, I'm afraid, but I'll
- 9:07be glad to tell you anything I can. You going in to see Willy
- 9:11Willy? Yeah, you know Will White van Hook the jeweler wise? Yeah,
- 9:15why do you know him? Know him? I sold him one of
- 9:16these, one exactly like mine, and we're both going to be in the
- 9:20rally there. Hold next Sunday. Do you ever see a good sports car
- 9:22race? No, I'm afraid not. Well, wells soon thinks that and
- 9:26look after you've talked to Willie, if you want to go down to where
- 9:28Dan Galloway's billing is knew. Well, I'll be glad to give you a
- 9:31lift. Good idea, but I don't want to take you out of your
- 9:33way. Oh not at all. I was going away anyhow. Besides,
- 9:35uh, I thought it might give us a chance to talk a little sure
- 9:41on why not? Well, a name like will White van Hook I expected,
- 9:50Well, I don't know what I expected. As it turned out,
- 9:52he was a swanty dressed chap of about forty tall and slim, blonde hair
- 9:56and quick, blue eyes and alert mind. I told him why I was
- 10:01in Palm Spring, showed him my credentials, and he immediately offered full cooperation.
- 10:05No, here we are, mister dollar. Here's a copy of the
- 10:07appraisal, a duplicate of the statement I sent Dan Galloway. And here,
- 10:13yes, here's a sketch of the bracelet. Ah. I got diamonds,
- 10:18here, emeralds, and the mounting is yellow gold and worked all of it.
- 10:22M one thing I can't help wondering about, mister man Hook. Yes,
- 10:28isn't a seventy five thousand dollars bracelet? I been unusual for a shop
- 10:31in a resort town. As a matter of fact, it is. As
- 10:35you can see. I specialize in rare and exclusive sort of things, but
- 10:39very little over say ten or twelve thousand dollars, and the Galloway bracelet was
- 10:43an exception. Yes, after Dan told me what he had in mind to
- 10:46give to his wife, I had some sent over from Pasadena and Los Angeles
- 10:50by wholesalers with whom I do business. You know, hadham shipped down in
- 10:54consignment. He liked one, and that was that I see to dollar.
- 11:01I wouldn't want this to go any farther, of course, But after all,
- 11:05jewelers and insurance companies are well, our businesses are pretty well tied together,
- 11:09at least on occasion. Yes, unfortunately, But what are you getting
- 11:15at, I'll tell you. Two days after the bracelet was delivered, one
- 11:18morning, just as I was opening up, Dan came in here. So
- 11:22he was ill at ease, look worried. He said he had to have
- 11:26some cash. Quickly, he asked if I could possibly refund his money.
- 11:30Oh did you know? Because I couldn't. Things had been rather slow for
- 11:35me this season. Quite frankly, I'd used all I'd made on the bracelet
- 11:39to pay up some old bills. I told him as much, and that
- 11:41I was sorry, but I just couldn't help him. Did Gallaway say why
- 11:45he had to have that much cash right away? Yes? Well, I
- 11:48don't know much about oil drilling, but as I understand that, his test
- 11:52well is down some four hundred feet further than he'd planned on going, and
- 11:56the day before he came in here, something on his rig had broken loose
- 12:00and left him with a highly expensive repair job before he could proceed any further.
- 12:05Apparently it was all very serious and very expensive. Hmm. Strange.
- 12:09His wife didn't seem to be bothered. I just talked to her BERTA.
- 12:13Believe me, mister Dollar, she wouldn't be. In fact, I doubt
- 12:18if she even knows no. Figure it out for yourself. A man of
- 12:22nearly sixty who has to give bracelets and fancy cars to his wife to keep
- 12:26up her interest, Well, you'd hardly expect him to tell her that kind
- 12:30of news, how would you, now? I suppose not, especially if
- 12:33he's worried about the competition, And if you ask me, he has competition.
- 12:39If only he could see it, that suntan and chrome Cosmoromo was all
- 12:56sunny. Whyman claimed it was? It prayed like a kid, performed beautifully.
- 13:01But I was more interested at the moment of what Sonny wanted to talk
- 13:03about. Johnny, I'm gonna be perfectly fun with you. I'll go all
- 13:09over with that out at the house a while ago. I felt pretty foolish
- 13:11when you arrived and Berta insisted I hide until she could get you out on
- 13:15the lenine. Did she have any particular reason? Well? Do you see?
- 13:18We know that well? Lessen talk going around about Berta and me?
- 13:22Any truth in it, Sonny? A little? I guess you saw.
- 13:28I mean there's nothing serious between us. It's just that well, with Dan
- 13:31away so much of the time, we uh, well, we have fun
- 13:33together. Yeah? Sure, Oh what about the bracelet? Give me who
- 13:37might have stolen it? It's a general idea. I don't know. I
- 13:41have no idea. That sound funny to you? Should it? Well?
- 13:46After all, Dan and Berta keeping their house open to everybody. People into
- 13:48swim play, bad menton cocktails and barbecues. I guess half the population of
- 13:54Palm Springs that had been there one time or another, And even if it
- 13:56weren't an invited guest why, I'd be simple for someone to just sneak in
- 14:00to walk up with it, providing, of course they knew where it was
- 14:03kept. Well, yeah, someone who was close enough to Yeah, I
- 14:07heard burd to ask you about a reward for it. You think a big
- 14:11enough reward would turn it up, I would think so. I understand that
- 14:16stolen jewelry brings about twenty cents on the dollar. Sometimes it brings twenty cents,
- 14:22sometimes twenty years. Well, yeah, well, I just wonder.
- 14:28How's the car business doing, sunny? Oh great, great, Yeah,
- 14:31it's really one of the reasons I'm drying out this week. Oh prospect an
- 14:35oil rich Indian or a well to do Prairie dog. Hardly. No,
- 14:39I told you if we were having a sports car rally on Sunday, well,
- 14:43being the promoter so to speak, I'm going down to check the course.
- 14:46If you're still around, you ought to come. Oh maybe I will
- 14:48having some good events to Willie Van Hook and I are running a match race.
- 14:52He's quite a bug, you know, and ever since I sold him
- 14:56the twin of this job, he's been working it over special carburetor, racing
- 14:58cams, everything, And I wonder, I can't afford this kind of stuff.
- 15:01Oh, man, you'd be amazed if the amounts the amount of money
- 15:05to change his hands. Isn't that an oil rig over there, yeah,
- 15:09Dan Galloways. The rig itself is about fifty feet out in the lake.
- 15:11The shack or office or whatever you want to call it's over the other way,
- 15:15you see, about a quarter of a mile beyond. Was Joshua Trees.
- 15:18I'll drive you over. He did. There was an old car parked
- 15:24near the shack, so we figured Dan Galloway must be inside. Sunny Wyman
- 15:28dropped me in front of it, then took off in a cloud of dust
- 15:30and exhaust gas. I picked my way between the cactus plants, opened the
- 15:33door without knocking as far as a right in. Mister uh oh oh,
- 15:39hello, No use asking it. Mister Galloway is here. I can see
- 15:43he isn't. No, he isn't s all right if I wait, I'm
- 15:48Johnny Dollar, I'm Missus Galloway, mister dollan. Hell, that is on
- 15:52the first Missus Galloway, the farmer, the one who scrimped and saved while
- 15:56Dan was booming around every oil field all over the country, trying to make
- 15:58his score. I'm the forgotten Missus Galloway. Oh, well, I'm sorry.
- 16:04Are you expecting him back soon? Who knows? I'm waiting here three
- 16:08hours, but I'll wait three days if I have to. Promises, that's
- 16:11all promises. What do you mean, Missus Galloway, after working to help
- 16:15him the way I did for all those years, and then to be tossed
- 16:17over for somebody else who never did a look of work in her life.
- 16:19Oh? Sure, give me anything I want if I let him free?
- 16:22So what have I got? Promises? Well, I'm sorry, but getting
- 16:26all upset is going to help? Well, wouldn't you be upset if you
- 16:29had more than eighteen thousand dollars in back alimony coming to you and with them
- 16:33living like royalty? I see? Oh, he's not gonna keep on getting
- 16:36away with it, that's why i'm here. Well, not that gun in
- 16:40your handbag isn't the answer, I'm afraid. How'd you know I've seen that
- 16:45kind of bulge in a handbag before? You really have ideas about using it
- 16:48on him? Well? Why? I don't know. There are times when
- 16:56I feel as though killing would be too good for him, and there are
- 17:00other times when I don't know. Here. Better let me from I'm not
- 17:07gonna sit here and try to make sense with somebody who's upset at Hugh Arrow
- 17:11has a gun? Well, how would you feel? What would you do
- 17:14if you were me? How should I know? But killing him isn't the
- 17:15answer this, or sitting here shouting at me? Who are you anyway?
- 17:18What are you doing here? I came out here to see your husband,
- 17:22your ex husband? On business? What kind of business? A friend drove
- 17:25me out here and figured Dan would drive me back. But since he isn't
- 17:27around, there's no point of my staying here. Are you either, Well,
- 17:30maybe you want to have a car, so you and I are driving
- 17:33back upon spring. I'm not leaving here to I see Dan until I get
- 17:37some money from him, or see him dead. Maybe he's at the well,
- 17:41all right, maybe he is over there and I'll come on. Why
- 17:45I took this on I didn't know. Well, I couldn't leave that slightly
- 17:48frantic woman sitting there waiting with murder in her heart. For all I knew,
- 17:52she'd murdered Dan already. Let her inspected gun lay there. They're roll
- 17:56down toward the oil rig was just a pair of ruts and as it's sand.
- 18:00Then just as we cut in between some yucca plants and a wind blown
- 18:03Joshua tree, I slammed on the brakes there in the middle of the trailia
- 18:11man's body and crushed and twisted, and Galloway had been carefully repeatedly run over
- 18:18by a car. Expense account at him thirty one dollars nineteen cents for a
- 18:27quick phone called a Sergeant Lacey in palm springs and smelling salts and a bromine
- 18:30for Florida the ex missus Galloway. Then I dropped her off at the Galloway
- 18:34house. She and Roberta ended up consoling each other, while I huddled with
- 18:38Lacey in his office at headquarters. Some of the boys are still out there,
- 18:41dollar checking tire prints, taking pictures and so on. No cloth as
- 18:45to who ran Galloway down not yet looked at me, as though Galloway stepped
- 18:48out of his own car to see whoever had pulled up in the other and
- 18:51was run down for his trouble, the car that did it run around in
- 18:55a circle over and over him. Any suspects. Sergeant You found his ex
- 18:59wife Laura waiting for him in the field office. You said, that's right,
- 19:02and she was pretty nervous on edge. You say so. Also,
- 19:04she was carrying a gun. Oh wait a minute, Any reason why she
- 19:07couldn't have run him down earlier, then gone back and just waited for somebody
- 19:11like you to come along, with somebody with whom she could then discover the
- 19:14body. You told me yourself, Dolla, that she was pretty insistent about
- 19:17your going over there to look for Gann. Yeah, yeah, I know.
- 19:19The sergeants you're off on the wrong foot. Why because of the tracks
- 19:23left by the killer's car. They didn't match the tires on Flora's car.
- 19:27You checked, I'd checked, and if I were you, I'd have your
- 19:30boys find out whose car did make those tracks. I'm way ahead of it.
- 19:33Well, if you know, then you wait a second, Yeah,
- 19:37Levigne, charging, I got news for you about those tire tracks at the
- 19:42scene of the killing right on cue, the same making size as the tires
- 19:48on Sunny Wyman's Cosmo Roma. You sure what I told you the scene,
- 19:52I thought it was a sports car by the smallest eyes of the circle the
- 19:56tracks made. Yeah, And knowing the feeling between Wyman and Galloway, I
- 20:00went right over to his place nice clean tracks all over and they match.
- 20:04You're holding Wyman. I don't know where he is, Sergeant. He wasn't
- 20:08at his place and there was no answer to the bone in his showroom.
- 20:11We'll then get after him, put out a flash on him with that car.
- 20:14He shouldn't be too hard to find. Let me know when he's picked
- 20:17up. Yes, what do you think, sergeant? You know something?
- 20:18Duller. I have a notion that when we find Sunny Wyman, we'll also
- 20:22find out what happened to that bracelet. Yeah, it could be. One
- 20:30thing was certain. Dan Galloway can no longer be suspect in the case.
- 20:33But Roberta why not? Maybe she didn't know that Dan had run out of
- 20:38money. Maybe that's why she was so interested in the amount of reward for
- 20:41the bracelet. Now what about Sonny Wyman? Olla look bad, a smart
- 20:48young opportunist out for the fast buck, and of course close to Galloway's wife.
- 20:52Anything he could do to hurt Galloway would help him. And now these
- 20:56tire tracks the one solid clue the Galloway's killing. An Agean Lacy and I
- 21:00drove out to the Galloway house. No, Johnny, I haven't seen Sonny
- 21:03since he left here this afternoon, that's when you were here. He didn't
- 21:07call up. Why should he call up? Why shouldn't he call ROBERTA if
- 21:11he'd heard that Dan was killed? Now you listen here, mister Donne.
- 21:15If you're trying to trick me into saying something about Sonny having anything to do
- 21:18with dan death, you're wasting your time. And what's Laura? Pardon?
- 21:26Hello? Oh? Yes, just a minute, youth, sergeant lady?
- 21:32Oh thanks hello, yes, yes, when yeah, I see ok,
- 21:41Lebbyn. Thanks? Has he found Sonny Wyman? He sure has, And
- 21:45if you want to see him, you'll have to go to the coroner's office.
- 21:48What no, Yeah, that souped up car of his couple of miles
- 21:52out of town run off a curve in over one hundred foot bank. Well,
- 21:56then minutes Lacy and I were at the scene of the accident looking things
- 21:59over with the help of flashlights. Yeah, he must have been really burning
- 22:03up the road to spin and roll this far off the highway. But surely
- 22:07he must have been familiar with that curved. Oh sure he knew these roads
- 22:10around here as roll as anybody in the county. Tire's still in one piece
- 22:12too, and these sports cars usually corner pretty well. Yeah, this one
- 22:17didn't. Hey, Lacy, look here, Yeah, it's left rear fender.
- 22:22Looks to me like this car was side swipe. Hey, you're right
- 22:26rolling over. Never make a long crease like that. Huh. Then no,
- 22:30wait, if another car side swipe team, they'd be paint on this
- 22:33fender, paint from the other car. Sergeants, you're absolutely right. And
- 22:37since there's none here, sergeants, you're absolutely wrong. How far to the
- 22:42nearest filling station? What? I want to make a couple of calls to
- 22:45some wholesale jewelers in Pasadena and Los Angeles right now, in the middle of
- 22:48the night, right now, wholesale jewelers expense account at him four eleven dollars
- 22:53and ninety cents. Phone calls to Pasadena in LA. The third call yielded
- 22:59mister Alfred make and to making Imports Incorporated. It was pretty cheerful about having
- 23:02been gotten out of pet. It's quite all right, mister dollar that I'm
- 23:07up. I'm right awake, almost well. I hate to throw something like
- 23:10this as you in the middle of the night, mister Makhan, but tell
- 23:11me, please, did you ship a diamond and Emberald bracelet to will Hoyt
- 23:15van Hook in Palm Springs within the past few weeks. Why yes, mister
- 23:21Dollery. Oh, as a matter of fact, they sent him three.
- 23:25It was two weeks ago, and he returned them all returned them when two
- 23:30of them the day after he got them, but the third when he kept
- 23:33for a while. I got it back just last Thursday. I don't know
- 23:37if that means anything to you. You bet it does, thanks very much.
- 23:45Lacy and I piled in a one squad car for Patroman and another.
- 23:48It was several miles out to the little ranch where Van Hook lived, and
- 23:52Lacy and I chewed it over as we drove along. It don't pulled out
- 23:53on me, Johnny, What if it made you think of Willy van Hook
- 23:56is the one who drove Sunny Wyman off the road. Well, apparently there
- 23:59was no paint on that fender from the car that sideswiped him. Actually the
- 24:03ones holy of course van Hook's car is exactly the same color as Sonny.
- 24:08Another thing, the car that ran down Galloway like the one Sonny drove,
- 24:11even down to the tires, but not necessarily the same car. What's the
- 24:15fact that couldn't help wondering about Van Hook all along. But why and a
- 24:19job like mine, you have to wonder about everybody connected with the case,
- 24:22anything particular about Van Hook. Well, he told me that he'd use the
- 24:26money he got from Galloway to pay off some overdue bills. And yet a
- 24:30few weeks ago he was able to buy an eight thousand dollars sports car.
- 24:33It ties up, dollar, It all ties up. But how did Sonny
- 24:37Wyman figure it? Oh? Sonny was a fellow who lived by his wits.
- 24:40He may have reached the same conclusion about Van Hook that I did.
- 24:42They have had an idea for latching onto the reward money. You mentioned the
- 24:45matter of a reward to me a couple of times. Or he may have
- 24:48had ideas for black nailing. Then another thing, Van Hook saw me drive
- 24:52away from his shop in Sonny's car. That many had to act fast get
- 24:56rid of Galloway, giving him back to Bracelet, and of course take Sonny
- 25:00out of the picture too. Yeah, it all seems to head up very
- 25:03nicely. And when we face Van hooked, But there's his place now,
- 25:07and here's his driveway. Either he's skipped out or he's asleep. No lights
- 25:12on in the place. If you ask me, he's fun way Yeah.
- 25:17The third window on the right, the blind was pulled away for a sigam
- 25:21and two. Well, then let's get out of this car. We're sitting
- 25:22ducks in here. Well how about it, sergeant, what do we do
- 25:29you? Boy? Split up a couple of the back the sides of the
- 25:30house. He's in there. Yeah, okay, boy, come on,
- 25:36Johnny, and maybe you better keep out of this. Are you kidding him?
- 25:38Hey? Listen, a car door? I'm sure, yeah, I
- 25:41know. Holy what's he up to? Gonna lock himself in? Take the
- 25:47monoxide route? Come on the back doors in that garage that I know of.
- 25:52Wait a minute, then, Hook, this is the police. We've
- 25:56got men all around this place. Run off that engine and come out of
- 26:00the old with your hands over your head. Don't be a fool man,
- 26:03Hook, you haven't got a chance. Come out of that. You see
- 26:11that he goes right through the door of his garage. Come on, la
- 26:15see the car. Get after him. You guys got movie a claw.
- 26:17Boys, crazy, he's getting into the sand swiping. Heavet see what he
- 26:26did to that other patrol car. They're they're all pretending us. Come on,
- 26:30step on it, Lacy. This is one time we ought to have
- 26:33a Cosmo roma. Well maybe he cannot run us, but with two cars
- 26:36on his tail, he may it kill. Let's take chances. If so,
- 26:37we'll hang on. Lacy. You could qualify for some of those road
- 26:42races yourself. That guy's out of his head. Main highway like this full
- 26:47of trucks and trailers. I don't worry about those guys. Those interstate truckers
- 26:49will give you a clear road after him, and the best drivers in the
- 26:52country come on, hit you, siry right. Hey see I told you
- 26:57those guys who give you the road. Holy Look the trailer in front of
- 27:03him and the oncoming truck man. Hook's trying to squeeze through. Hollo up
- 27:07pop, Well, only squeeze through, all right, squeeze right through the
- 27:18pearly gates. Expense account at him five thirty eight dollars seventy five cents roam,
- 27:30two meals and valet service at the coast of It BAS had them six

- 27:41remarks, well, justice has done in pretty strange ways sometimes kind of makes
- 27:48you think maybe it pays to tread this straight and narrow, doesn't it?
- 27:52Yours truly, Johnny Dollar. Now here is our star to tell you about
- 28:08next week's story. Next week Internationland three, A beautiful girl and a very
- 28:14clever chemist join us, Won't you yours truly? Johnny Dallner, yours truly?
- 28:33Johnny Dollar is starring Bob Bailey. Originates in Hollywood. It is written
- 28:37by Paul Franklin and is produced and directed by Jack Johnstone. Heard in our
- 28:42cast were Barbara Eiler, PAULA Winslow, Boris Lewis, Frank Nelson, Sam
- 28:47Edwards, Austin Green, and Chef Mancoln. Musical supervision is by Amerigo Marino.
- 28:52Be sure to join us next week, same time and station for another
- 28:56exciting story of yours truly, A Dollar m This is damn cumberly speaking.
- 29:33Johnny Dollar has come to you through the worldwide facilities of the United States Armed
- 29:37Forces, radio and Television servants. Welcome back. I go to Alpa,
- 31:00so I definitely suspected that someone else with a sportscar was the one behind it,
- 31:10particularly the way they made the point of how many of the same sports
- 31:17car were being sold that the jeweler did. It was kind of a bad
- 31:23judgment, particularly because even if Johnny had no reason to suspect, he probably
- 31:32would have gone into double checking and verifying who actually the whole purchase history of
- 31:41the necklace. Well, speaking of some reality checks, received this from a
- 31:48listener and William says, it's a retired firefighter who was president hundreds of scenes.
- 31:56I realized that emergency care has changed over the years. However, I
- 32:00thought it was amazing that Johnny Dollar and this refers to the Templeton matter,
- 32:05was able to fly to Boston and arrive at the jewelry store heist and the
- 32:08gunshot victim still had not been transferred to the hospital. Ambulances at that time
- 32:14had far less equipment than today, so the best approach was to rush the
- 32:17victim to a hospital rather than provide anything other than urgent care at the scene.
- 32:22Just realitycheck Dot Corbyn, Well, thanks so much, and that's certainly
- 32:28a point, and probably if there was an explanation, it may have been
- 32:34written for a series or even for a story where Johnny would be going within
- 32:39his own home city, and it isn't. And I guess the one thing
- 32:46is that as much as the time for taking flights has increased, maybe they
- 32:57thought, you know, it'd be pretty simple for Johnny, particularly with a
- 33:01short distance, to fly to Boston in time to find the victim still at
- 33:08the scene. Probably not right, but you know, as Johnny didn't have
- 33:14to take off his shoes and go through the metal detectors, and he might
- 33:19have made it a little quicker. Still, it would have been more likely
- 33:22for him to run into the suspect at the or running to the victim at
- 33:29the hospital. The idea of Johnny dealing with crime scenes that are that fresh
- 33:36in any circumstances kind of unrealistic because usually it takes a while for an insurance
- 33:42company to get called in. Thanks for the comment, and we turn now
- 33:45to some itune reviews. Mad Marks two thousand says Adam Graham has excellent taste
