- 0:42What is going on, everybody?
- 0:44Welcome to Thursday Night CrossFit Talk.
- 0:47You've heard Jamie talking and asking questions.
- 0:49We're having some technical issues tonight.
- 0:52We don't know why.
- 0:53I was like, where's the intro?
- 0:55Is it just... It played.
- 0:57Is it just mine?
- 0:58It did?
- 0:58You couldn't see it, yeah.
- 0:59Oh, gosh.
- 1:01You know, I couldn't see anything.
- 1:02It was black screen.
- 1:03I'm like, what's going on here?
- 1:05I'm trying to chew this last little bit of beef jerky while we're here.
- 1:09Morning.
- 1:10Morning.
- 1:11So we are all over it tonight.
- 1:15As Kenneth said, we are the original Thursday at CrossFit talk show.
- 1:22And we mess up just like everybody else.
- 1:27Yeah.
- 1:28We're professionals.
- 1:29Don't worry about it.
- 1:30Are you on a laptop tonight?
- 1:32I am on a laptop.
- 1:33So you've only done that for like two weeks, right?
- 1:35Yes.
- 1:37Is that why I can't see the intro?
- 1:38No.
- 1:39You should be able to see the intro.
- 1:40That's what I'm saying.
- 1:48Jamie never charges her new headset, Andrew.
- 1:51So that's why she's wearing her old.
- 1:53These are actually old headsets.
- 1:55Yeah, this is just the earbuds.
- 1:58I'll have the gaming mic headset on next week.
- 2:01But Andrew Sten, I've got to tell you, I finished Welcome to Wrexham.
- 2:07One of the best things on TV.
- 2:10have not heard of this oh my gosh it's so good so it is welcome to wrexham welcome to wrexham it is uh about a soccer team that ryan reynolds and rob mcelheny buy okay and so in english
- 2:32soccer, and I am not an expert English football.
- 2:36There are leagues, right?
- 2:37There's a premier league, a championship lit champions, leg championship league.
- 2:42So then there's a tier three, a tier four.
- 2:46And then if you get relegated out of that, you kind of drop out of the main thing of, of football in England.
- 2:56Okay.
- 2:57Wrexham was relegated to that fifth tier and have been there for 20 some years.
- 3:04Oh, this is a legit team.
- 3:07This is real life.
- 3:08Ryan Reynolds bought this team.
- 3:09Real life.
- 3:11Okay.
- 3:12Real life.
- 3:12So good.
- 3:15So, and, um,
- 3:17Like, I don't want to have any spoilers.
- 3:19Cause like, if you have not seen it, you should go watch it.
- 3:22It is, it is like watching a sporting event though, because they document like they document the team and their efforts to get better, to get, because if you finish in the, either the regular season as a champion or the playoffs as a champion, you get promoted to the league above you.
- 3:40Okay.
- 3:41If you finish in the bottom two spots, you get relegated to the league below you.
- 3:46Okay.
- 3:48And so this is their effort to try to help this soccer team get back into... And basically the line that they're under, they get nothing from the league.
- 4:00It's almost like a semi-pro league.
- 4:03And if they can get promoted up one level, then they start getting league money and they can invest more in the town.
- 4:12but it's really about the town.
- 4:14It's really about this town of Wrexham that has supported this team forever.
- 4:19Their stadium is like the oldest active stadium in the world.
- 4:24Wow.
- 4:26And, uh, and it's in Wales.
- 4:29Um, and so it's all about this little community that supports them and how they've, the community and the team have been down on their luck and can they change these fortunes?
- 4:40And there's two seasons.
- 4:42It was on FX.
- 4:44Okay.
- 4:45I watch it on Hulu.
- 4:48So is Ryan Reynolds like a huge soccer fan?
- 4:54I don't think he was at the beginning of this.
- 4:55Okay.
- 4:57But he quickly becomes one.
- 4:59Now his Rob McElhinney, who is his co-chair is I think a big fan and he is the writer and he's an actor and it's always sunny in Philadelphia.
- 5:13Oh, so they're both famous.
- 5:17Um, and they're all right.
- 5:18Ryan is just way more famous and they make a lot of jokes about that, but they are only in like some of the episodes.
- 5:25It's really about the town and the team and,
- 5:28And I'm telling you, like, it was like rooting for my new favorite team throughout this whole thing.
- 5:36And it was crazy, but I knew I talked to Andrew after I finished season one and he said, wait till you get to season two.
- 5:45And it was, it was even better.
- 5:47I'll have to check it out.
- 5:51It's like 18 episodes a season.
- 5:53Okay.
- 5:53Yeah.
- 5:56And they're about a half, they vary in length, about a half hour, an episode.
- 6:02So really good.
- 6:04Cool.
- 6:04I need something else to watch.
- 6:05So perfect.
- 6:07Yeah, it is.
- 6:08It will consume your time.
- 6:11And what's cool about this year is when they bought this whole thing, they didn't realize it, but they bought the women's team as well.
- 6:18So there's a rest of the women's team.
- 6:22And, and they are featured, they're featured through this season somewhat as well.
- 6:28Are they, are they like just as bad as the other team in the, in the same tier?
- 6:33So they're in, they're in a league where they don't get paid.
- 6:38Okay.
- 6:38So all of them work jobs and then play, but if they can get promoted, they move to like a semi pro league where they can pay the players.
- 6:50Awesome.
- 6:51So yeah, it's, it's really, really good.
- 6:56Um, one of the best things I've seen on TV in a very long time.
- 7:02So I know we have this much later, but I am almost caught up on Reacher as well.
- 7:10So you haven't watched Friday last week.
- 7:13I am halfway through it.
- 7:15Okay.
- 7:16How did you stop that one?
- 7:17Uh, cause we had to do the show tonight.
- 7:21Oh, you might as well just, you might as well leave it till tomorrow.
- 7:26Cause like, I was mad that we watched that last week.
- 7:28I was like, I wish I would have waited because that like clip hanger on that one is frustrating.
- 7:35Okay.
- 7:36So just save it for tomorrow.
- 7:37Usually like when we're done with the show, I go right to bed.
- 7:40So it'll probably be tomorrow when we watch it anyway, and then they'll release the new episode.
- 7:44Yep.
- 7:45And we go right to do it.
- 7:46Yeah.
- 7:46But we are almost dead half of the, the last, um, the last episode that's released of reacher.
- 7:57Um, and Kenneth said last week, season two, greater than, um, season one.
- 8:03Yep.
- 8:04I'm not sure.
- 8:04I agree.
- 8:06That's kind of how, when he said it, I was like, Oh really?
- 8:08I feel like as we're going along, I'm kind of feeling that a little bit.
- 8:13This last episode was really good.
- 8:16I think, I think the storyline is way more complicated and harder to, to like figure out all the tentacles, but the down hominess of the, of season one is really hard to match.
- 8:31Yeah.
- 8:32And, um, and the, the characters in season one will forever be in my heart.
- 8:38I agree.
- 8:39I really liked season one.
- 8:40I'm not, I'm not sure the characters in season two have endeared them.
- 8:43The guy I liked the best is no longer with us.
- 8:51Oh, really?
- 8:51Yeah.
- 8:54We can talk offline.
- 8:55I don't want to spoil it because it really just came out last week.
- 8:58Um, but.
- 9:01LDY2742 said he liked season one better.
- 9:05I really... I love the Tweed Tornado and I love Roscoe.
- 9:10Those two characters are some of my favorite characters ever.
- 9:15I agree.
- 9:17But I think it's too early for us to say until this season's over.
- 9:22Yeah.
- 9:24Yeah.
- 9:26Neely's in both and I like her.
- 9:28I'm not...
- 9:32this is more of like a Clancy thing.
- 9:34Season two, like a Tom Clancy movie book.
- 9:39Yeah.
- 9:40Which I'm a huge fan of me too, but it's different.
- 9:44It's just different.
- 9:46Yeah.
- 9:48Yeah.
- 9:48I know.
- 9:50So yeah, so we got all of our TV stuff out in the first little bit.
- 9:56That's usually, this is usually my game show rant or my TV talk.
- 10:00But if you start watching Welcome to Wrexham, I cannot wait to hear what you think of it.
- 10:05Yeah.
- 10:06It's really good.
- 10:09Kenneth says, I like angsty emo season two Reacher with his sad eyes.
- 10:14What can I say?
- 10:17He's a little more angsty, isn't he?
- 10:18Yeah.
- 10:19Yeah.
- 10:23And you'd think, well, again, I don't want to give a spoiler last week.
- 10:29Yeah.
- 10:31So anyway, we did some wrap-up shows last week with Wadapalooza.
- 10:37So I want to put a final bow on that.
- 10:41And then I kind of want to talk about the off-season.
- 10:44Off-season.
- 10:45And it's over now.
- 10:46Like the off season is over.
- 10:48We're going to be heading into the new CrossFit game season.
- 10:52What does that mean?
- 10:53What did the off season tell us anything?
- 10:56And we'll kind of talk about that.
- 10:58And then, and whatever else comes up from the chat or whatever.
- 11:02And I did, I've watched the first five episodes of behind the scenes.
- 11:08And I wanted to kind of give my impressions of that as well.
- 11:12Okay.
- 11:14So.
- 11:16So, Wadapalooza.
- 11:19Just to recap, it seems like months ago, but Ricky Garrard and Emma Carey won the individual competition at Wadapalooza.
- 11:30There was weather issues on day one, and then it was really clear on day two to kind of finish it out.
- 11:38Any overall thoughts about the individual competition that you want to talk about before we move on?
- 11:47um no i feel like we squashed the judging and all that to death like it is what it is we you know and weather plays a role and they did what they did yeah i did want to talk about the weather because i watched death by today and their first question was about the weather do we need to move events inside yeah and
- 12:18Again, I've said this many times with Waterpalooza, the draw is outside.
- 12:24Yes.
- 12:26Right.
- 12:26Like in my opinion, you cannot move that event inside.
- 12:30You just have to deal with it.
- 12:31I just think we, we need to come up with a better contingency plan as to what happens in the weather.
- 12:42Um, and it's, it's,
- 12:45Through no fault of the directors or anybody that worked the event, the events became pedestrian once they were changed for the weather.
- 13:00And there was a couple interesting things that Matt O'Keefe said on the death by that I wanted to bring up.
- 13:07One, it has been researched that the Surface Co.
- 13:11surface actually becomes 25% tackier when it's wet.
- 13:17Okay.
- 13:19So that should not affect the safety of the athletes.
- 13:25Agreed.
- 13:27So I like that.
- 13:28And he also said that when he was running Wadapalooza, they would make calls to Rogue about different things.
- 13:35Like the wooden rings actually get tackier when they're wet.
- 13:41So what I liked about that is, can we find elements, if it rains, that are still safe for the athletes?
- 13:51Because they've been researched.
- 13:53We know what gets tackier in the wet weather.
- 13:57Um, we know that the Dahmer mat is not tackier and when it's right.
- 14:05So what can we do about those things to still have like, cause if you, instead of going to strict muscle ups or strict pull-ups, if you had muscle ups on a ring, that would have added some complexity and some, um, Kenneth.
- 14:24It's too early to be pushing buttons.
- 14:28And the athletes could have showed off what they could do.
- 14:30Yeah.
- 14:32With, with like ring muscle ups rather than all strict pull-ups.
- 14:36Yeah.
- 14:38Yeah.
- 14:38Twice having that.
- 14:41Right.
- 14:42Not my favorite.
- 14:44So the other thing that, that was brought up on death by that just shocked me is to have like a plan B at a, at an indoor location.
- 14:54I cannot imagine the cost of reserving an indoor facility just in case, because you're taking that off the calendar for them to rent out to somebody else.
- 15:07So that means you're paying full price.
- 15:09Yes.
- 15:11Yeah.
- 15:11There's no way you would do that.
- 15:12You either do it indoor or you don't.
- 15:14And with like one outdoor event that you just take the day that looks best.
- 15:20Right.
- 15:21As you and I have said, Guadalupalooza has to be outside.
- 15:25It's an outdoor event.
- 15:28Right.
- 15:29Yeah.
- 15:33Aaron Frazier says they should put a tent over Flagler and have the events at Bayside be okay to do in bad weather.
- 15:42Yeah, Bayside never affects me because if you're swimming, you're wet anyway.
- 15:46The floor's wet.
- 15:47Everything's wet.
- 15:49The gear is designed that the athlete is going to be wet while doing it.
- 15:54So Bayside never bothers me.
- 15:57But Flagler... And Tina Hills has a roof.
- 16:01Yep.
- 16:02So it's only the spectators that are affected.
- 16:06And it is just Flagler, but...
- 16:09And it's such a big floor.
- 16:12I mean, that would be one large tent.
- 16:17Yeah, but if you're talking about possibly renting a secondary facility, I mean, a tent is way more reasonable.
- 16:31Yeah, I don't know what to go up above the stands.
- 16:38Like it's just a lot of surface area to cover and I don't know logistically, but it'd be, it'd be cool if they could do that.
- 16:48You see those like those sunshades that are like stretched out.
- 16:55I wonder if you could do a series of those that at least partially kept the floor dry.
- 17:01Yeah.
- 17:03I don't know.
- 17:06Um, so yeah, I, but those were weird comment.
- 17:12Cause I, I couldn't believe people were like, let's rent a facility just in case that just seems an astronomical expense.
- 17:20Yeah.
- 17:21Uh, to me.
- 17:24Um, so I wanted to ask you, do the wins for Ricky and Emma mean anything?
- 17:32I mean, yeah, I feel like we sort of talked about this on our wrap up show, uh,
- 17:37Yeah, I think probably more so for Ricky, like, you had, you didn't have Adler there, but you had Roman and you had Pat and you had like, kind of what you wanted to see in Rogue in the games.
- 17:51So he had some solid competition there to test against.
- 17:57It's, it's only, it's only the five events.
- 18:00We, we know it's not super well-rounded.
- 18:02We know the tests got changed.
- 18:04Um, but sure.
- 18:05Of course, like he has to be feeling, he hit some things that he was probably unsure about and to still pull off a win has to like give him some serious confidence going into the, into this year's games.
- 18:19Yeah.
- 18:19I think it means more for him than it has for most past winners.
- 18:23Yeah.
- 18:23Because of the injury.
- 18:25Yes.
- 18:28That's it.
- 18:29It's just testing out the shoulder, getting some confidence in the shoulder to be able to do high-skill movements without pain or to know what his threshold is on those movements moving into the CrossFit Games season.
- 18:47I think for Emma, Andrew says he thinks it means more for Emma.
- 18:53I mean, I think for her, it was a really good test of pacing.
- 18:58I think we saw her compete the best we've ever seen her compete.
- 19:03So again, I should give her some serious confidence of, okay, I figured out this racing thing.
- 19:10I think that plus she pretty much dominated like after the swim event, she, she finished top five and just in everything, I believe.
- 19:22I mean, I could pull up the leaderboard to be sure, but I'm,
- 19:27pretty sure top five and everything yeah i think you're right so then we go to teams which is where we only did a little bit of a wrap-up um what were your thoughts on the team overall it was it was exciting there was still like some of those races you you had your bigger men's team races that um you're rooting
- 19:58rooting for, um, again, the change in some of the, the change in some of those workouts kind of took the fun away from that in the judging and standards laid out, I think just really like frustrated me.
- 20:16Um, but it was, it was good.
- 20:20I mean, that's, that's the event, right?
- 20:25It's there.
- 20:25It's mostly there for the teams.
- 20:29And I think, I think it showcased teamwork.
- 20:37I don't want to be like ultra negative, but it was, it was hard to watch for me, especially on Sunday.
- 20:44Yeah.
- 20:45I thought that Saturday we were cheated because the office offsite event, we didn't get to see.
- 20:52Yes.
- 20:53Um,
- 20:55We had a couple good events Saturday night, and then Sunday was just... Everything became really pedestrian, except for communication.
- 21:07So if you knew how to communicate with loud music and rain pouring on you, you had a distinct advantage.
- 21:18Yeah.
- 21:18Well, teams that had used the worm regularly clearly had a...
- 21:25an advantage.
- 21:26Um, I, I kinda liked the sandbag event.
- 21:30Like, I feel like you could see the race a little more in that event that I thought that was better.
- 21:37That maybe was the only one that, and I feel like the points race was getting closer at that at that time.
- 21:43Um, but that maybe was the only one that was like kind of exciting.
- 21:50Jody Lynn with strong comments coming in.
- 21:53I'm so tired of the worm.
- 21:55Let's hope CrossFit can come up with a new implement for teams.
- 22:00I really love the broken worm.
- 22:01Oh God.
- 22:04I think that that is such the degree of difficulty on the broken worm compared to the regular worm is so much higher compared
- 22:13that you have to be elite at communication to make that work like at the games we saw people get flung off of that thing like when you make a mistake it it hits um and i guess i forgot it was called the earthworm the earthworm i like broken worm but okay
- 22:37And I like that it's kind of a throwback to the first worm that was made out of logs at the games.
- 22:46So I really like that a lot.
- 22:52And it makes it exciting because when they mess up, it's obvious.
- 22:57Yeah, I know.
- 22:58The way that just took teams down.
- 23:00i mean and it was like this like domino down they all go getting tore down by that sandbag i i i can kind of see maybe where you're coming from jody but like i don't know if there's a better implement to force synchronization
- 23:21If you aren't a true team that isn't training together, you're not going to excel at that.
- 23:27For me, that's where I don't like to just see the super teams.
- 23:30I don't want them to just pick a bunch of individuals and throw them together.
- 23:33I want the teams that grind it out in the gym together and practice these moves together.
- 23:38I like to see true mastery of the worm, either worm.
- 23:49So we had some really big super teams in the men's league, in the men's side.
- 23:57But on the women's side, it was a little lackluster for the super teams.
- 24:03And it, it really did come down to, to more teams that work together for a while or to, um, that were team type athletes.
- 24:12Yeah.
- 24:12They did much better on the women's side than any kind of super team.
- 24:18And the only super team I can even think of is, uh, the dunk tank team or the, uh, Bailey and page.
- 24:27Yes.
- 24:28Yeah.
- 24:30Yeah.
- 24:31Yeah.
- 24:33And you could tell when they were interviewed that they didn't practice at all on teamwork and, and it pay, they paid for it dearly at times.
- 24:45Um, so on the men's side, the winner was the go odd team, which was just a Madaris.
- 24:51Um, was that Willie George's and yeah.
- 24:59And, uh, Jay Crouch.
- 25:00Jay Crouch was on that team.
- 25:02Yeah.
- 25:05I thought that was a good win for Justin and we'll kind of talk about that in a little bit as well.
- 25:14And then I guess I should just pull up the leaderboard.
- 25:19I should have had that ready.
- 25:23Yeah, was Ombre Ombre second or third?
- 25:27Third.
- 25:28Third and second was
- 25:32Getting there.
- 25:35Did Tier jump up?
- 25:37It was Team Pisco.
- 25:40Roman, Saxon, and Jorge.
- 25:42Yeah.
- 25:43Team Tier was fourth.
- 25:45Okay, that's what I thought.
- 25:46Trace Leitch is fifth.
- 25:49Oh, yeah.
- 25:51Strapping young lad sixth.
- 25:55Yeah.
- 25:57That's about the order I put them in.
- 26:01Um, and then on the women's side, we had stronger than a nineties trend with our dear friend, Kelly Baker and her team with Kelsey Keel and Amelia Lungberg Lungberg.
- 26:14Um, RX performance was in second again.
- 26:19Um, they, they are a team dominated.
- 26:25group uh team scandinavian best team love the name um but our friend annika greer um matilda garness and rebecca medicine and rebecca vitteson yeah there we go uh yep and then team marine and lycan gang tmi sparrow was in sixth wow that's crazy and lycan was the two women from crossfit 80.
- 26:53And My High Muscles with Madison.
- 26:59Zoe Warren.
- 27:01They were in seventh.
- 27:04So pretty good showing for them too.
- 27:06Yeah, very good.
- 27:13So I guess we have to talk about the Heat One app and how you beat me by one stinking point.
- 27:24I beat you at one point in the top 10.
- 27:27Right.
- 27:28And then I crushed that color.
- 27:32It was close.
- 27:34I mean, I was within like 10.
- 27:36Yeah.
- 27:37What were you overall in chat color?
- 27:39Like an overall.
- 27:41I thought if I signed up for my league or the Clydesdale media league, it would do both.
- 27:46So I didn't do the overall.
- 27:48Oh, that sucks.
- 27:50I know you were way up there in the, I know.
- 27:55Fifth.
- 27:56Yeah.
- 28:00Not so great in the top 10, though.
- 28:02The women kind of just messed me up in that one.
- 28:07I know.
- 28:08I lost you.
- 28:0891-90.
- 28:08That's close.
- 28:16LDY 2742.
- 28:18Heck, they could do same movements with a tractor tire instead of the worm.
- 28:26like thrusters and clean and jerks and be interesting to see.
- 28:31It would be very interesting to see.
- 28:34Don't know how you get four people on it.
- 28:41Um, okay.
- 28:42And if we're still trying to figure out technology, well, we've worked you through the top 10.
- 28:49So at least you got that figured out.
- 28:53Now we, now you're going to be a pro come, um,
- 28:56the games so i have a list of things from wadapalooza and then we'll wrap that up okay okay the barge i thought that was awesome yeah it was cool i mean it looked cool to have that like ramp out there for athletes to get out to it um yeah i thought that was cool
- 29:19From being there the last couple years, it gets more space used up for spectators.
- 29:29So they can get more spectators in that area and still have the cool look of Bayside.
- 29:36So I thought...
- 29:39Bayside always had 10 lanes.
- 29:41Now they were able to do 20 on the barge.
- 29:44It was able to get more people on and get through events fairly quickly.
- 29:50And so I thought that was super cool.
- 29:54Why was nobody from CrossFit there?
- 29:56Because it's not a CrossFit licensed event.
- 30:02Last year, Don Fall was there.
- 30:04Dave Castro was there.
- 30:07It is the largest sports festival that is CrossFit in the world.
- 30:15It is probably bigger than the games from an attendance standpoint.
- 30:21At least send somebody.
- 30:24They had a booth, sounds like.
- 30:27They had a booth.
- 30:28But it was the affiliate booth, right, Tristan?
- 30:31That's what they have at everything.
- 30:37i think they needed to send somebody from the sports side to be there to see what's going on i mean oz or dave or any any of those yeah i don't know i don't know like i feel like i feel like a lot of like how many people were even there this year
- 31:06I think Guadalupe took a huge hit.
- 31:12From what I hear, if you were there, it was just as packed as always.
- 31:16Oh, that is not what I heard.
- 31:18Once it rained, people scattered and went and watched the stream.
- 31:27I don't know.
- 31:29I heard they couldn't sell tickets or they overpriced them so they didn't have enough people in the stands.
- 31:37I heard from vendors that like the amount of foot traffic was like half as much as normal.
- 31:46Yeah.
- 31:47Okay.
- 31:48Getting that a lot.
- 31:51Yeah.
- 31:51I mean, how much of that would be the, the weather though?
- 31:57I think it was the price of their tickets.
- 31:59Okay.
- 31:59Yeah.
- 32:02Because we had to buy those special seats.
- 32:05And then what happens with that is then like you have a weather event, they should have then opened it up for anybody to walk in just to fill the stands.
- 32:16You go to the games and on a Saturday night, there's empty seats because this person bought them for a couple of events and then they're not there for everything.
- 32:29They need to find a way to, after so many minutes of an event, it's opened up to the general public to go take those seats.
- 32:39Yeah, I suppose.
- 32:41I don't know.
- 32:42Yeah, this is not a great way to do that.
- 32:47My next thing was, why did it have less star power than last year?
- 32:58I don't know.
- 32:59I mean, truthfully, I'm like slightly worried for Wadabooza.
- 33:05I like, I understand that like the, the chaos is, I mean, it's just become to be expected, but I also feel like at some point people are just over it.
- 33:18You pay for, it's like over 400 bucks to compete in this event.
- 33:24It's extremely expensive to find lodging there.
- 33:27Like, is it worth it?
- 33:30And then to go get events changed on you and you get treated like, unless you're an elite, you get treated like garbage.
- 33:37And who wants to go deal with all of that?
- 33:41I don't know.
- 33:45I remember last year thinking, my God, there's like 10 great teams on both the men and women's side.
- 33:52And this year we had four or five.
- 33:54Mm-hmm.
- 33:55I was surprised there weren't more teams.
- 33:59Individual-wise, I thought it did not run as deep as it did last year.
- 34:07And then you have people like... I mean, last year we had Laura competing, and we had Annie competing, and Katrin, and none of those people are... So...
- 34:27Oh, Tristan, we're not saying the whole team side was weak.
- 34:31I didn't say anything about weak at all.
- 34:33I just said it lacks star power.
- 34:41So it's nothing about the competition or the people in it because I think it did.
- 34:48Okay, Corey, Annie was a bad example.
- 34:52I'm just saying that those were the names that were out there last year.
- 34:56Like Jeff Adler competed last year.
- 34:58Yeah.
- 35:00you had so many more names out on the floor competing.
- 35:05It just seemed, it just seemed to lack that star power.
- 35:10Maybe it was more European too.
- 35:12Like we got more European teams this year than we've had in past.
- 35:16And I heard Snorri say today that actually Miami is an easy flight for Europe.
- 35:22Yeah.
- 35:23Major city on the East coast and they can get in pretty easy.
- 35:27Yeah.
- 35:27So maybe I just need to get my head wrapped around that there's a big European contingent that aren't the names that we talk to all the time.
- 35:37Well, and we know on the women's side, the European field is typically stronger anyway.
- 35:43So if that's who's coming over, it definitely doesn't mean women was necessarily weaker.
- 35:46We just, we just might not be as familiar with them.
- 35:51Right.
- 35:51Yeah.
- 35:56carolyn's talking that individual was better than last year um i think carolyn's point here is possibly what happened um people went indie this year over team thinking maybe that more people would team like in the past and the prize first was would be open to them because i feel like that's what happened last year right like i mean i feel like at the last minute people were like i should have signed up for individual
- 36:26$75,000 was up for grabs.
- 36:28I kind of feel like more people jumped that route and then didn't participate in the team side.
- 36:38Yeah, I agree.
- 36:40Just some thoughts I had.
- 36:42Do we need star power?
- 36:44Is that what's missing?
- 36:48I don't know.
- 36:51I'm just posing the question.
- 36:54For me, we follow so many semifinal athletes.
- 37:00To me, there were plenty of people I knew out on that floor that I wanted to root for.
- 37:05I agree.
- 37:06Even in the RX division.
- 37:08So for me, I'm not a good judge of do we need more star power because I knew a lot of the people out there, they're just not the household names that you see at the games every year.
- 37:20Mm-hmm.
- 37:22Um, so I, that's why I was posing the question because I, I don't know.
- 37:28I would rather, and it sounds weird to say other than like the games and rogue, I want to see those other athletes.
- 37:42I completely agree.
- 37:43So I'm a, I completely agree.
- 37:46I'm a very bad judge of, of what is star power.
- 37:51Corey, I saw that.
- 37:54Max Craig was in RX.
- 37:58I was disappointed, and maybe this was my own fault.
- 38:01I was pretty busy.
- 38:02But I was disappointed in the coverage of RX and Masters.
- 38:07I wanted to catch some of the Masters.
- 38:09And shoot, Friday, I messaged Scott.
- 38:11And I'm like, am I the idiot?
- 38:13I can't find any coverage.
- 38:16I was like, Masters start at like 9, 9.30 a.m., right?
- 38:19And I'm like trying to find anything, nothing.
- 38:23So like, yeah, I was a little frustrated with some of the coverage on that kind of stuff.
- 38:28I don't know.
- 38:28I don't know if we'll ever get there.
- 38:32I can tell you that the still cam at Bayfront was not bad.
- 38:36I could get a pretty good indication of who was doing what at Bayside with that Steadicam.
- 38:44But Flagler's just so damn wide.
- 38:48It's nearly impossible.
- 38:51Tina Hill's the same.
- 38:53One Steadicam, I can at least get the idea if I know who's in what lane.
- 38:59Yeah.
- 39:01I know.
- 39:01I feel like they need a running ticker at the top on that stream.
- 39:05And I know that's just more production costs.
- 39:07Somebody has to be in charge of all that on the back end.
- 39:08I get it.
- 39:11I think it'd be far more appealing and draw in some more spectators.
- 39:16So at Bayfront 2, they have that big video board that actually lists the names of the people in each lane?
- 39:25So I didn't ever see that.
- 39:26Whenever I brought it up, it just said Bayfront.
- 39:29like rx teams it funnels between the workout and the names okay funnels whatever which is between the two um jenna says maybe the draw of water blues is being there at the event person i hear athletes and live podcasts etc are super approachable for us normie fans
- 39:52Waterpalooza is very approachable.
- 39:54People are walking around, athletes are walking around all the time.
- 39:58Most of Waterpalooza is a vendor village and most of the athletes are there.
- 40:06More business deals get done at Waterpalooza than anywhere else.
- 40:10And so you have athletes at all the different vendors, um, fulfilling obligations, taking pictures, signing autographs, doing all that stuff.
- 40:22They, it's just everywhere.
- 40:24So if you want to go meet some people, it is the perfect place to go.
- 40:27Yep.
- 40:34Um,
- 40:38So that's it for Wadapalooza.
- 40:40But then I have one big overarching piece about the off-season.
- 40:49Forever we called the off-season, there was the big three.
- 40:52Okay.
- 40:54Rogue, Dubai, Wadapalooza.
- 40:57Yep.
- 40:59Are they still the big three or are we looking at other places for off-season entertainment?
- 41:10I mean, Rogue's always going to have it, right?
- 41:15They do an incredible job.
- 41:17And they've tried to up their game.
- 41:18They had the extra streaming that you could purchase.
- 41:22I think they... And they probably have the most money at their disposal to make it how they want.
- 41:27I think Rogue's going to continue to be the draw.
- 41:31It has the biggest prize purse.
- 41:32It's going to...
- 41:35It's going to draw, obviously, your best athletes.
- 41:37Well, it's invite, so they're going to get that star power that you people want to see.
- 41:44Beyond that, I mean, even if Wadapusa tails off, it's probably going to remain that number two spot.
- 41:51I mean, some catastrophic things would have to happen for it to just fizzle out.
- 41:59But third, man, I feel like something's going to take over Dubai's spot for sure.
- 42:08So Carolyn said, yes, they are still the big three.
- 42:10Most money.
- 42:14Yeah.
- 42:14I, I think like rogue is almost elevated itself to like a one a off the games.
- 42:23They're becoming so innovative.
- 42:26If they wouldn't have had, if they would not have had the bad weather this year, that competition would have been Epic.
- 42:34Yeah.
- 42:35With the alternate broadcast, which was phenomenal, and I would pay for if they did that at any event that I'm not at live, it's going to be incredible.
- 42:51Dubai, I get it because it is a draw.
- 42:54You get big names, especially from Europe, and it is a big prize purse.
- 42:59I just wish they could get some people in the stands.
- 43:03And the coverage better.
- 43:04I wasn't thrilled with that either.
- 43:07The coverage has always been that.
- 43:11But I think the athletes will always view it as a big three because of the money and the competition.
- 43:22And Carolyn says, yes, Rogue is barely off the games.
- 43:27They're just so innovative.
- 43:29Like they're coming up with new cool things that the games need to adopt.
- 43:41And maybe the big games are too big to do that themselves.
- 43:46Andrew Sten says, maybe Rogue and Waza times two with SoCal in September, though they likely won't get big names competing since it's so close to the games and so close to Rogue.
- 43:59But what you're going to get is that group of people that aren't the top 20.
- 44:05You're going to get the people who had a catastrophic failure and missed the games.
- 44:11You'll get those.
- 44:13You'll get semifinal athletes.
- 44:14And you'll get the 20 through 40 that don't get invited to Rogue.
- 44:19Yep.
- 44:29I've heard good things about Beach Brawl.
- 44:32It's going to come down to prize purse at some point.
- 44:34If somebody else can match the money that they're even getting close to Dubai, just...
- 44:42I like this comment from Carolyn.
- 44:45I would like to see an Australian comp like Torian or Down Under give more money.
- 44:48Their fan base there is fire.
- 44:51I totally agree because in my mind, I feel like Down Under Championship is one of the big ones.
- 44:58It just sucks that it isn't a big prize purse.
- 45:03Well, and that semifinal down there is like a damn party.
- 45:06Yeah, Torian is insane.
- 45:10So hopefully they can get some prize purse or some sponsorships to be able to give a bigger prize because they're there.
- 45:21Yeah.
- 45:27So Kenneth says Rogue is unique because it's more than just CrossFit.
- 45:30Also Strongman brings new eyes to CrossFit, brings new eyes to Strongman.
- 45:33Win, win, win.
- 45:34Again, that's one of those innovative ideas, though, that makes Rogue better.
- 45:40Yeah.
- 45:41Right.
- 45:43I've heard they've talked about even adding a third sport.
- 45:49Interesting.
- 45:50They've thrown up like a powerlifting meet with like the best of the best or the top end Olympic lifting or something like that.
- 45:59That would still be that kind of like Iron Games type deal, but even expanding what they offer.
- 46:07Yeah, that would be cool.
- 46:13Alex says, it costs so much to travel to Australia, though.
- 46:16They need more money.
- 46:19It was just a misspelling.
- 46:20But I like the way she said money.
- 46:26Yeah.
- 46:34That's what I was thinking.
- 46:35A baseball game?
- 46:36Sweet.
- 46:36I'm in.
- 46:36Let's go.
- 46:37Yeah.
- 46:40Okay, so that was that question.
- 46:43Now that the offseason's over, who had an offseason that will help them lead themselves into the next CrossFit game season?
- 46:57You want my number one?
- 46:59Sure.
- 46:59Okay.
- 47:01Well, I think Ricky because he didn't get to, I mean, he was injured, so he's come back and really showed.
- 47:07I don't think Rogue went like,
- 47:10great for him per se but clearly wadapalooza is putting him in the right direction and he did carolyn me it's not money it's money yeah it's the canadian dinner yeah uh-huh the money money
- 47:32So I agree with you, Ricky.
- 47:33I had him on my list.
- 47:36Knowing that the shoulder's right, being able to compete at Rogue, being able to compete.
- 47:41Did he do Dubai too?
- 47:43Yes.
- 47:44And Waterpalooza.
- 47:46I think that that is strong for him.
- 47:51Lex says Emma Carey, which is on my list as well.
- 47:54Right.
- 47:55Also on my list.
- 47:58I think that she did...
- 48:00she finished sixth at rogue.
- 48:03She won water Palooza.
- 48:05That's a great, um, that's great momentum going into the season.
- 48:10And you and I talked so many times about her pacing at water Palooza and how much she has gotten better at not just going to blackout, but to actually see what's going on around her and, um, and, and pace the race.
- 48:31And Lex says her typo will now be used permanently.
- 48:40Do you have anybody else on your list?
- 48:43Yes.
- 48:43I also have Gabby.
- 48:46Okay.
- 48:48The rest of mine.
- 48:49Why Gabby?
- 48:53Well, I think she had a great showing at Rogue.
- 48:56And then I think she still did great here at
- 49:05wasn't it like fourth at both yeah you don't think yeah you think if she's not on the podium it's not good enough no no no oh i think that she's finally becoming the consistent athlete we've wanted her to become for years i had her on my list yeah
- 49:25Yeah, I don't know.
- 49:28She seems to be filling some of those holes.
- 49:30Her upper body pulling strength probably wasn't ever the greatest, but she seems to be rounding that out a little bit better.
- 49:42She did luck out at two bad weather events, though, taking away the rope climbs.
- 49:47Yes, agreed.
- 49:53Who else you got?
- 49:54I'll let you go one more.
- 49:55I have Anika.
- 49:58Okay.
- 49:59Why?
- 50:00Well, I thought she did good at Down Under.
- 50:02I thought that was a good showing for her.
- 50:05And her team didn't win, but they podiumed here at Guadalupe.
- 50:10That's got to be confidence.
- 50:11But she needs wins in her life.
- 50:17She just doesn't get enough of that.
- 50:19I don't have her on my list, but she podiumed at Madrid.
- 50:21Yes.
- 50:22Yes.
- 50:23She did well at down under and you could say she was the leader of that team at Waterpalooza.
- 50:31And that was cool to see because the other two have games experience and she was the leader.
- 50:41Yeah.
- 50:42That was, that was pretty cool.
- 50:45Yeah.
- 50:45She won down.
- 50:47Did she win, win down on her?
- 50:51I know she podiums.
- 50:52For some reason, I thought she was second.
- 50:54No, Down Under was Madeline Sturt that won it.
- 50:59Then Annika, and then Grace Walton, who is, by the way, my fifth person on my list, Grace Walton.
- 51:07Okay.
- 51:09And that's it for me.
- 51:10Why Grace?
- 51:12Because of Down Under and this showing at Guadalupe.
- 51:17Taking some of the big comps.
- 51:20She definitely made up a name for herself at Waterpalooza.
- 51:23That girl can swim.
- 51:24Yes.
- 51:25Flat out.
- 51:29Andrew Sten throws up Rebecca Vitteson.
- 51:32Could be interesting to watch.
- 51:34Is she not an older athlete though?
- 51:39I don't think so.
- 51:40I think she's like 24 or 25.
- 51:43I don't think she's that old.
- 51:44I thought she was in her 30s.
- 51:47Man, I don't think so.
- 51:50Google her.
- 51:54Okay.
- 51:55So I had on mind Laura Horvat.
- 51:59Yes.
- 52:00Beat Tia is huge.
- 52:04I know she only did Rogue.
- 52:06She did Olympic lifting thing and she won that too.
- 52:11But to beat Tia and know that it's possible, I think is huge for her.
- 52:20And then she got to rest for a while.
- 52:23Madison is 26.
- 52:24So I was mistaken.
- 52:26I actually think she's 28.
- 52:28If you're looking at the same article I am, that was from 2021 that said she was 26 years old.
- 52:36I also had Justin Medeiros to be able to recover in the offseason and then to win a powerlifting meet.
- 52:47and then have his team win Wadapalooza, I think it brought back some of the joy in competing that wasn't just on him.
- 52:58And we'll get to this in behind the scenes.
- 53:03It shows Justin very stressed out behind the scenes.
- 53:10And so to see that contradiction at Wadapalooza, I think is good for him.
- 53:17maybe teams is where he belongs.
- 53:20Well, I don't think one year away from a two-time championship is time to wrap it up into teams.
- 53:28I think he just needs to find the love of the game again.
- 53:31Yeah.
- 53:36And then my last one was in a very similar way.
- 53:38And I know I said I was done with this guy, but Jason Hopper.
- 53:44Geez, old Pete's.
- 53:46He's had some good off season counts.
- 53:48And it's not, it's, he did well in some competitions in some events, but it was, he was having fun again.
- 53:56I agree with that.
- 54:00He he's laughing a lot.
- 54:01He's making fun of himself.
- 54:04And I think that's something he needed back in his life.
- 54:08I think when he went to Vermont, he got too serious.
- 54:11Yep.
- 54:11And he tried to do it the way Matt did it.
- 54:13Yep.
- 54:15And he has to do it the way he does it.
- 54:21And to see the interviews with him over the weekend with Dallin and Ricky and just having a ball, I think that that is as good for him as anything.
- 54:31I agree.
- 54:36That's only going to help him progress in the sport.
- 54:40Um, so yeah.
- 54:43So if anybody else has any thoughts on who had a great off season, love to hear them, shoot them in the comments or put them in the, uh, comments on YouTube.
- 54:55I will check those out, talk about them next week, maybe.
- 54:57Um, so my last thing for the night is I broke down
- 55:05Bought the behind the scenes with some birthday money that I had laying around.
- 55:12And a couple things I want to talk about with it.
- 55:17Episodes 1A, 1B, and 2 were not great for my viewing.
- 55:25And I'm saying it from my perspective.
- 55:27I'm not saying it from anybody else.
- 55:30Because we were behind the scenes at that point in time.
- 55:34Right.
- 55:35We were talking to the athletes.
- 55:37We were getting a lot of the same information that was gathered in those episodes.
- 55:43So for me, it was very meh those first couple of minutes.
- 55:51Once you hit episode three, it really picks up for me because then every episode after that is one event and
- 56:01Okay.
- 56:01Episode three is the bike.
- 56:03Episode four is the pig flip.
- 56:06Episode five is inverted medley.
- 56:11Okay.
- 56:13Okay.
- 56:14And at that point it really picks up because then there was content grabbed that I never, I never saw.
- 56:23um the madaris lazar jukic wreck um plays a big role in episode three um and again i'm not going to spoil anything but very intense and very much behind the scenes kind of information that you could only get from those two people um
- 56:52the coolest part of episode five is there's a girl using a vintage camera to take still shots in the media pit and ask her about why she's doing it.
- 57:06Um, what all is why, why it's being used, how to use it, how to focus it.
- 57:12That was fascinating to me.
- 57:16They talked to athlete control and what their responsibilities were throughout this stuff.
- 57:20I thought that was pretty cool.
- 57:23The first few episodes, there's a lot of Dave.
- 57:26A lot of riding around with Dave.
- 57:29Dave wasn't...
- 57:37he's over the whole thing, but he's not boss.
- 57:40Right.
- 57:40And he's not.
- 57:42So it didn't have the same feel as like the old ones when he was with Dave, because there Dave is worried about every little nuance of the programming where that's not the case this time.
- 57:55There's cool conversations with rich as a coach.
- 57:59Um, um, so that was really cool.
- 58:03Um,
- 58:06I will say what was really cool to me is Lana makes two appearances.
- 58:12Awesome.
- 58:14Um, and Teddy.
- 58:16So if you did, we did, we put out a real Teddy captured this piece where Justin and inverted medley bobbled and recovered and bobble, like,
- 58:30right?
- 58:31Teddy cut captures that.
- 58:33So one of Savant's cameraman caught that from the opposite side of the floor.
- 58:39So you see in the background, Teddy capturing the whole thing.
- 58:44Awesome.
- 58:45Um, so that was really cool for me to see Teddy in there and to the, him doing that.
- 58:51I did not see Jamie.
- 58:52I have to, uh,
- 59:00I watch these as I'm working and doing some other projects.
- 59:04So my eyes are not on the screen the entire time.
- 59:08But I will say they're very good.
- 59:12The old ones used to be like an hour.
- 59:15These ones are like 15 minutes or not 15.
- 59:17They're like a half an hour.
- 59:19So it ends really quickly.
- 59:22And then you got to wait a couple of days for the next one to come out.
- 59:26Great.
- 59:28So now I'm like caught up until Sunday.
- 59:35Worth the investment?
- 59:39Sure.
- 59:42I'll say worth the investment because I know we put a lot of time and effort into things.
- 59:47And when I really kind of like reconciled it all in my head, like they worked their ass off to put this out.
- 59:56Why shouldn't I give them 20 bucks to watch it?
- 1:00:01Fair enough.
- 1:00:03I would do that for a movie or whatever.
- 1:00:11That's how I reconciled it in my head.
- 1:00:15Now I can go back and watch them again.
- 1:00:17I'll have to go back and see if I see Jamie this time.
- 1:00:22You've probably got to keep your eyes out for your shirts.
- 1:00:26That's why I always saw Teddy.
- 1:00:28Teddy popped out really quick.
- 1:00:32with the shirt.
- 1:00:33So plus it was, he was right there.
- 1:00:37Like he took up like a big chunk of the screen.
- 1:00:44But I'll be, but those outdoor events too, when they're doing the event coverage, it's fast.
- 1:00:57So it'd be hard to,
- 1:01:00I put a stick of beef jerky in my mouth and it had a hot pepper on it.
- 1:01:07So anyway, holy shit.
- 1:01:15And you like spicy.
- 1:01:19Um, um, like at the bike, the actions go by so fast.
- 1:01:25Like anything peripherally is very hard.
- 1:01:29unless the focus is right on them.
- 1:01:34So, cause I know like at some points he does, cause Yvonne captures someone cheering for somebody or.
- 1:01:41That's cool.
- 1:01:46Yeah.
- 1:01:47It's, I mean, it's really well done.
- 1:01:50The editing is really good.
- 1:01:51They put up leaderboards after each episode cause each one is.
- 1:01:56And then they show the.
- 1:01:57Yeah.
- 1:02:01So it's good.
- 1:02:04It's really good.
- 1:02:07I can't wait to see them.
- 1:02:10But it looks like now the free versions aren't coming out until just before the open.
- 1:02:15Yeah, I think that's what he always said.
- 1:02:16I was going to tie in with the open.
- 1:02:17Okay.
- 1:02:23What are your thoughts on The Master's Love in the first couple episodes?
- 1:02:31I wish there was more.
- 1:02:36I thought that there were a couple clips of Masters, but they were doing so many cool things.
- 1:02:49There were so many cool things that happened in the Masters, and none of it was really captured.
- 1:02:59But I don't know what their mission is for that documentary was anyway.
- 1:03:09What Kelly Friel was doing, what Susan Clark was doing could have been highlighted pretty quickly.
- 1:03:16Grub, Rudy, those like legends that were doing a lot.
- 1:03:22Sam, Sam Briggs.
- 1:03:27Like they weren't in it at all.
- 1:03:29Yeah, that's too bad.
- 1:03:34But there were master stuff caught.
- 1:03:37It just was what it was.
- 1:03:41And like there was a cool piece where the grandmother is competing with the mother and daughter cheering.
- 1:03:51And Siobhan was interviewing the mother and the daughter while they were cheering for the grandmother.
- 1:03:55That's cool.
- 1:03:57And all three generations do CrossFit.
- 1:04:00That's awesome.
- 1:04:02So there were some cool things like that that were captured.
- 1:04:05So I don't want to just shit on it.
- 1:04:10Yeah, Grubb was there taking his dog to the bathroom.
- 1:04:13But they could have done more about him being a four-time champion.
- 1:04:23So, yeah.
- 1:04:25Yeah.
- 1:04:29Again, it's really good.
- 1:04:30Even the first couple episodes are good.
- 1:04:32I went in expecting my memory and what I had in my head of what they were.
- 1:04:39And then it was a lot of what we were doing the first couple days talking to people anyway.
- 1:04:46We ran into Ariel in the media room and sat and talked to her for 20 minutes.
- 1:04:55That's what you're getting in the first couple episodes.
- 1:04:58Right.
- 1:05:01Um, it's just like in the tent waiting to try on their, try out their bike.
- 1:05:08There is a cool piece with Cole Sager.
- 1:05:09I know I'm talking about him a lot lately, but he talked about how he remembers his first CrossFit Games so vividly.
- 1:05:20He can see the colors.
- 1:05:21He can smell the smells.
- 1:05:23And to this day, he remembers those moments.
- 1:05:27And looking around and seeing these legends and how they handled themselves and how he wanted to do the same.
- 1:05:39So anyway.
- 1:05:41Very cool.
- 1:05:44That's my take on what is out on the behind the scenes.
- 1:05:49And with that, I think that's everything I have in my notes.
- 1:05:53Anything else you want to talk about?
- 1:05:56Are we ever going to know if the Masters are going to compete at the games?
- 1:06:02I'm not holding my breath.
- 1:06:09I did not catch Pedro's whiteboard show this week.
- 1:06:13I don't even know what it was about.
- 1:06:15I saw it pop up yesterday, but I have been so busy with my job.
- 1:06:21Was it more Wadapalooza coverage?
- 1:06:24No, no, no.
- 1:06:24Whiteboard is like, it's like death by, but Pedro's version.
- 1:06:28Right.
- 1:06:30I don't even know what the topics were.
- 1:06:31Oh.
- 1:06:36I did see something.
- 1:06:38So in the behind the scenes, when Justin is very stoic and like not really talking to people and Savan makes a comment, like, does he not like doing interviews?
- 1:06:51And Adam says, I don't know.
- 1:06:53I've never really asked him.
- 1:06:56And so they're walking down like the hallway and Savan asks him, do you not like doing interviews?
- 1:07:01And he goes,
- 1:07:02listen, I want the sport to grow and I want to do what I can to help the sport grow, but I need people to get better at this.
- 1:07:09So I'm not answering the same question four times in a row.
- 1:07:14Oh, man.
- 1:07:20And in some aspects, I get what he's saying.
- 1:07:22Yeah.
- 1:07:23Because in the behind the scenes, one thing that I did notice, so many people had access.
- 1:07:28We were told, Buttery Bros, Craig Ritchie, and Siobhan.
- 1:07:32Mm-hmm.
- 1:07:33There were so many people, so many cameras.
- 1:07:37It was a zoo in that warm-up area.
- 1:07:42Interesting.
- 1:07:44So as an athlete, I'm wondering how that was taken.
- 1:07:49Because they went from nobody had access, except for like the documentary crew, to now like...
- 1:08:02talking elite fitness is down there.
- 1:08:03Mayhem's down there.
- 1:08:05Savan, then Craig and the buttery bros.
- 1:08:10Now you've got cameras everywhere.
- 1:08:12Yep.
- 1:08:12Like the one camera where guys trying to avoid the other camera guy.
- 1:08:15Yep.
- 1:08:16Yeah.
- 1:08:20I could see that as an athlete perspective.
- 1:08:23And if like, we're not communicating with talking elite fitness and,
- 1:08:30Yeah, we probably will ask Justin the exact same question.
- 1:08:36Well, I would hope we wouldn't ask the same question as Talking Elite Fitness.
- 1:08:39But I get what he's saying.
- 1:08:43Even if you change up the questions, it's just got to be like you just because it like he had just done inverted medley.
- 1:08:52Right.
- 1:08:52And he took second.
- 1:08:53And so everybody wanted to talk to him.
- 1:08:56So it's like he's going through this barrage of interviews right after.
- 1:09:02And even if the questions are different, they're probably in the similar vein.
- 1:09:08Oh, absolutely.
- 1:09:16That is true, Kenneth.
- 1:09:18One camera is taping the interview of the other camera guy.
- 1:09:29so it's um and what made me think of that is can this comment of a pat had an interesting take on making up athletes i know that's huge in the nfl kind of like they did for is that they were what they were going to do with ricky and dylan and hopper and teams yep are they going to put together i believe too oh nice
- 1:09:58So they'll get a little mini documentary of water.
- 1:10:01All mic'd up.
- 1:10:03Yeah.
- 1:10:04I know that's in the NFL.
- 1:10:08That'll be interesting to see how that plays out.
- 1:10:10I think that could be huge.
- 1:10:14Yeah.
- 1:10:21So Carolyn says people are so fake when they're mic'd up.
- 1:10:25I think it depends on the person.
- 1:10:29Yeah.
- 1:10:37Trying to be funny just because I have a mic on.
- 1:10:43Yeah.
- 1:10:43I think it depends on the person.
- 1:10:46Some people are just going to be very intense and you're going to get that intensity.
- 1:10:52Maybe them talking to themselves and you know, whatever the NFL guys say, like they forget the mics on like,
- 1:11:0010 minutes into the game because they're so focused on everything else yeah um kind of said behind the scenes took four months to come out I will tell you it is way harder than anybody thinks the little documentary we've been working on it is just
- 1:11:24I have to carve out so much time to edit a piece.
- 1:11:28It's just been really hard with the holidays and everything.
- 1:11:31And working a full-time job that actually wants me to do work now.
- 1:11:36Work.
- 1:11:40And I'll try to catch it, Kenneth.
- 1:11:45I actually like that show sometimes.
- 1:11:48Mostly.
- 1:11:48Yeah.
- 1:11:51I like the takes.
- 1:11:54I like that you're at 40 seconds and you're done.
- 1:11:58Death by my gosh, they, they go on for like ever.
- 1:12:10Um, it all depends.
- 1:12:14It's funny.
- 1:12:15Cause like when I, when I did Jamie's documentary, um,
- 1:12:18Like it was just her so I could get back and I could edit that night in the hotel room.
- 1:12:27And, and then edit the next morning and then go film some more and then edit.
- 1:12:32So then by the end of the weekend, I had it almost done.
- 1:12:36Cause I had it, I was building it as we were going.
- 1:12:41Um, but when you're doing four athletes and you have to wait until it's over and then interview them afterwards and try to piece it all together and then get all the video components and the photo components at all different times, it just, it gets, and then the longer you are away from it, the harder it is to remember how you want to put it.
- 1:13:06Yep.
- 1:13:09But
- 1:13:09we'll try to get the rest of that documentary out soon with that.
- 1:13:20I guess that's all we got.
- 1:13:21That's it.
- 1:13:24We will see you next week on there's an, a CrossFit.
- 1:13:32The original, the original.
