- 2:0116% I just couldn't do it you just took me back to the yeah.
- 2:41I'm a little tired but I'm good sir, nice and toasty 96 degrees
- 2:47today, so yeah, yeah. Thanks climate change.
- 2:53Mmm. Oh no Florida.
- 2:56Texas wanted to remind everybody that they don't there's no such
- 2:59thing as fault the first day of fall Florida.
- 3:02Tech supposed like, hit you with the 96.
- 3:04Wow. Too much.
- 3:09So Lamar bag secured huff and how are you tonight, sir?
- 3:16Me and our friends are doing just fine, you know, like look
- 3:21when you leave your house to go to Europe for a week.
- 3:25It helps to come home with stuff and and and bigley coined the
- 3:31phrase. So I will share with the rest of
- 3:32the world. She said people are just nicer
- 3:36to you if you come home with a trophy, Like, legitimately
- 3:40everybody was like, congratulations.
- 3:42Good job. Whoo.
- 3:44And I was like, you would have hit me with your bag otherwise,
- 3:48but today, you're nice people was getting out the way.
- 3:53You know, people try to tell us, we should get first class
- 3:55upgrades. I was like, listen I'm here for
- 3:57that. If you can make that happen, I
- 4:00mean he'll I'll trade the trophy for that.
- 4:05Governor. How are you today sir tonight?
- 4:08Well Thank you Lamar for, you know, giving me the those
- 4:14flashbacks to those really, really tough decisions that I
- 4:18had to make, you know, I'm getting ready to catch a shuttle
- 4:22to the airport as 4 a.m. in the morning.
- 4:25And I'm looking at my carry-on or this big gigantic trophy.
- 4:31I got to take my clothes back. Thank you.
- 4:34Thank you for bringing all that back.
- 4:36And you know, the amount of housekeepers and And and and
- 4:40those folks that just went home with all these trophies and yeah
- 4:45now that was me you can thank me later, I love it, I love it.
- 4:53Well we will get tonight's show started with them some pretty
- 4:58crazy things and it's been topic of conversations here and there
- 5:01in the round but World Athletics has said out there ranking
- 5:07qualifications and standards for T23 and that in itself, has sent
- 5:12some people into a tissie because it's interesting, but
- 5:19I'll let someone take the mic and start the dive.
- 5:24I mean, shall I read it? Sure.
- 5:28The context is always good. Okay, so depending on what
- 5:33version of this you have you may have come to refer to this issue
- 5:39as page for At the bottom of page 4, it says conditions for
- 5:47the validity of performances. all performances must be
- 5:53achieved during competitions organized or authorized by World
- 5:58Athletics, its area associations for its National federations and
- 6:05conducted come formatively with World Athletics rules and for
- 6:14which starting January 1, 2023 and application has been
- 6:19submitted in advance So, what that means is, what that means
- 6:28is, I'll take a current example that we all understand Joseph
- 6:34Campbell a ran for the University of Florida, this past
- 6:38year, for most of the Season. He ran 10 0 here and 19 at the,
- 6:46at the NCAA championships and none of those performances.
- 6:50According to this, Would count to get him into Worlds.
- 6:56So, unless after the NCAA championships happen, he left
- 7:02the country found a me and duplicated said, performances of
- 7:1010 flat or 20 point 16, he would have essentially been locked out
- 7:15of Worlds, where he finished fourth.
- 7:20My is that correct sir? Yes for and I picked him
- 7:23specifically because he's not an American meaning.
- 7:28He doesn't represent America on the world stage because if
- 7:32you're an American, you can qualify to go to USA's, and go
- 7:37to USA's, and be top three, and make the team.
- 7:41But if your qualifying on ranking or standard, And you're
- 7:46in college, not representing, Team USA, you're probably
- 7:51screwed on this and that is patently ridiculous.
- 7:58Fili. where'd you hear that same situation because they basically
- 8:06have without Without saying those actual words, right?
- 8:14The only meat really and truly meets really and truly, they
- 8:18targeted are the NCAA American track and field system, right?
- 8:23Because every every other meat around the world is organized by
- 8:30a national governing body because we're the only ones that
- 8:33have the Collegiate system. This is true.
- 8:39Now the trump card would be hilarious is if and trust me, I
- 8:44know what I'm about to say is never going to happen but this
- 8:47could actually be easily and I mean easily taken care of if the
- 8:52NCAA and usatf who share a city, there are three bought the
- 8:59headquarters of each or three blocks from each other.
- 9:02If they had a simple conversation and said hey I got
- 9:04an idea. Let's file the paperwork.
- 9:06Work such that all NCAA meets categorically are set Arco
- 9:10sanctioned by usatf and NCAA and run by usatf material.
- 9:15NCAA rules. Concurrently Well, now you're
- 9:19asking for, you know, for three tell the truth.
- 9:23Great. So just think about what what
- 9:25what I just said, took, what? I don't know. 12 seconds.
- 9:30And that will solve the problem. Because I mean, we don't run
- 9:35into your belay meets any differently than than usatf
- 9:39sanction Meats. Just not sanctioned by them.
- 9:44Correct. But there is a, I don't know
- 9:48what percentage of the world of that world but there is a swath
- 9:54of protract people who want nothing more than the locked up
- 10:00Allegiance out. Anyway, mmm.
- 10:03Well there I mean look, they're going to get it.
- 10:06Like, this is quite good. Can you qualify that statement,
- 10:11please? Who are these said, people that
- 10:14want to love the collegians out. You never heard these
- 10:18conversations going on clearly I haven't or I would be asking I
- 10:22mean so we've debated them on this show.
- 10:24For example there there is a I don't know of any I have never
- 10:30heard of been a party to any conversation.
- 10:32I've heard the rents of Ray. Yeah Ray hard raise rents about
- 10:42the Collegian should be able to do this and this and this I
- 10:45don't know of. I never had a conversation with
- 10:49anybody in power. Let's say that is talked about
- 10:54locking the collegians out because when you sit in the room
- 10:58with the folks that use a track and field, they are very clear
- 11:03and understand that without the collegians our teams are not
- 11:08nearly as good. North strong, not nearly as
- 11:11good, then, then I'm certain That the powers that be will be
- 11:18on the phone to Gainesville as of Friday afternoon, 5:00 p.m.
- 11:26here when they hear you cosign them that way and take up mr.
- 11:33Bag, secured idea here because that is the most direct and
- 11:37quick fix to it. As I look, it's the simplest
- 11:40fix. I've heard, I've had actual
- 11:42conversations with professional coaches.
- 11:46And professional athletes who believe that the Collision
- 11:50should be locked out. And those results from these.
- 11:54I'm gonna guarantee their people that don't have people making
- 12:00teams, is there a of called it. But then, you know, I mean, you
- 12:04know what, I don't care who they are.
- 12:06Shame on them. Yeah.
- 12:08Same one. Whoever they are shame on them
- 12:11because those you, you know, how this it is, this sport is built
- 12:14on competition. Absolutely competition.
- 12:18And if you're going to complain that I I find it hard to believe
- 12:22that it's any metal producing. Coach is having these
- 12:26conversations and if they are shame 10, well, I'll take it one
- 12:30step further. What about the large swath of
- 12:35international kids that are in NCAA system?
- 12:40Those are the ones I'm concerned about, right?
- 12:42Whoo-hoo in their minds. This is the best transition for
- 12:48them. Right is right?
- 12:51And so it's also. So let me let me speak to this
- 12:54because this this is what I read into the whole nonsense, right?
- 12:57If you're an American Collegiate and you're good enough to make
- 13:00the team, what you do at the USA championships is going to have
- 13:04you qualify any, hmm? Yes, right.
- 13:07So, right, right? So they're so this whole.
- 13:09So here's the thing. So it doesn't matter.
- 13:12You could go to the Mount sac, relays and run 10 flat with a
- 13:18point. A 2.0, when it's really for
- 13:21point of we won't discuss that. But anyway, so you could do
- 13:25that, but it doesn't matter because you still have to go to
- 13:27the sanction meat, which is used to track and field to qualify.
- 13:31So this doesn't hurt standard because you can't use
- 14:07any of your Collegiate marks as a qualifying standard for World
- 14:09Championships. So now what you're saying is you
- 14:12have to hit the qualifying standard at the US championships
- 14:16that that's fair, but what I'm not being funny currently like
- 14:22we just have worlds, right? Within our field events didn't
- 14:27have like Kool-Aid that of apply to this year.
- 14:30From our field events men's and women's long jump.
- 14:35We just start there. Sure.
- 14:37And I guess it's also why has until the Philippines get your
- 14:43shit together. Tell me a joke for 2004 when it
- 14:46go, because hold on a second because it's no different than
- 14:49the fact that if you're a sprinter, if you're a distance
- 14:52Runner, you have to show up and run the standard at the meat.
- 14:56So it's no more, there's no more.
- 14:58There's no disadvantage or a bigger disadvantage for the
- 15:01field of interest and then for the sprinters, but wait a
- 15:03minute. Do you guys feel fantastic?
- 15:49But no one else. Well, I don't know what?
- 15:51What did Jack get a Jasmine jump at at USA's cuz I obviously I
- 15:55don't, I don't remember off the top of my head.
- 15:57If you are, if you are narrowing things down to find that, that,
- 16:03that cross-section really, we are talking about is that kid,
- 16:09that either can't get back home for their national championships
- 16:12a week after ncaa's or don't have national championships.
- 16:18Soooo. Well that's why I threw the
- 16:19jello fumble a example. So those those are the ones that
- 16:23I mean, where are they going? Let's be realistic.
- 16:27Joe would have been fine. Hmm, I'm fine the 23rd disease.
- 16:32It was 2013. It's okay Joe.
- 16:35So yeah, exactly. So trust me there's a sanction
- 16:44because it doesn't have to be the national championships.
- 16:46We're not, we're not suggesting that he couldn't.
- 16:49All I'm saying, is that his job before the NCAA championships
- 16:55ended. His job was representing
- 16:57University of Florida running in that program doing the NCAA
- 17:01paint and he clearly qualified for Needs prior to the ncaa's.
- 17:07And then terms put a stamp on it at ncaa's, all of that will be
- 17:11wiped off the books. And then either after ncaa's,
- 17:15he'd have to go find me or would have had to leave town to set up
- 17:19a meet prior to, and I think that's obtrusive and ridiculous
- 17:24for someone like that. Now, what are the reasons?
- 17:30What what has World Athletics said to the NCAA as?
- 17:34As to why the NCAA championships aren't given the respect it
- 17:38deserves? Yes, because as anyone gotten is
- 17:43it. The drug testing, is it?
- 17:45The the blocks with sensors? Is it?
- 17:48What, what is it? You know what?
- 17:50The drug testing would actually be an interesting excuse.
- 17:54Hmm, but I highly doubt that. I mean, I've never heard of an
- 17:58explanation game. I don't get it either.
- 18:01I think it's just because as Lamar likes to say, they're not
- 18:05in the club, but at the same time, the NCAA meat is ranked in
- 18:10the top five in the world. Yes.
- 18:12Well by right? But by legitimate rankings.
- 18:16Not by there's crazy. Not by the end of the day.
- 18:22So this is where there needs to be a conversation between the
- 18:26powers that be. I think you need to see a and
- 18:29the That was the usatf the powers of be in the powers that
- 18:35be to sit down and just get them inside.
- 18:37You just really a truly good because he could, because it is
- 18:40point the all the conference meets.
- 18:43All the premium Meats in the NCAA championships.
- 18:45Need to be sanctioned by usatf agreed.
- 18:48Absolutely. But I just want to say this for
- 18:50the record, the USA Track & Field.
- 18:56Championships were not sanctioned in the combined
- 19:00events because they didn't turn in the paperwork.
- 19:03Wow. Like like this is not a
- 19:04difficult concept, y'all, but trust me balls have been
- 19:07dropped. Multiple times.
- 19:10Hmm. How about this?
- 19:12One Mount Sac was all the was on the world athletic store, right?
- 19:19Gold. But once they turn into the
- 19:20Golden Gate? Yeah, but the combined events
- 19:22were not because only what was on the television package was
- 19:26was sanctioned Like I can't make this stuff up, right?
- 19:33And literally, what we're talking about is paperwork,
- 19:35y'all like this, like I couldn't agree with you more so lucious.
- 19:39I said it first, this could be handled in a conversation
- 19:43between two organizations. That are three blocks from each
- 19:45other. I know, I'm, and I'm nominate
- 19:48duty to fix this responsibility and get it done.
- 19:59Because he had to jump through these hoops to get a TTL series
- 20:01sanction. That's right.
- 20:04Lead my guy. Go into the forest, please.
- 20:10Was there anything else that stood out?
- 20:13I mean that's been the hot button topic.
- 20:20You know was relatively standard practice that when we talked
- 20:25about the ridiculous level of what the qualifier standards
- 20:28are. What.
- 20:29But I'll give them credit for this.
- 20:30That's not veiled, right? I mean that is obvious.
- 20:35We need to make the standards high enough that the rankings
- 20:39matter, Right, right? Like I mean, if you, if you
- 20:43don't make the standard super high in the rankings will be
- 20:46trash because there will be 24, 28, 32 people that hit the
- 20:50standard and then we don't have faith in the rankings of trash.
- 20:53Like, I mean, just for the audience really quick, like just
- 20:57to give you an example in the combined events on the men's
- 21:00side, the combined event standard is 8460, that is the
- 21:0470th best Mark in the history of the decathlon.
- 21:09Hmm. It's 70. 68 or something like
- 21:16that. On the women's side.
- 21:18And they have to have on 6480. So so they made the standards
- 21:26historically High. Right?
- 21:29There are eight guys in the world that have the standard.
- 21:33So, like if you just extrapolated that outright the
- 21:35eighth, fastest guy in 100 would be like, 90 the eighth fastest
- 21:39guy in the 200, would for sure be be nineteen eight or so,
- 21:43right? So, like the whole point was to
- 21:46make the standards, really, really hard, so that the
- 21:50rankings has teeth. So I get that, like, I'm not
- 21:53even mad at World Athletics for that because at least that was
- 21:57not veiled, right? They didn't hide that on page 4.
- 22:05Wow. See how that gets put together
- 22:09packaged and the bow that goes on that will be interesting.
- 22:13Do the paperwork people do? The paperwork would be 0 so the
- 22:25more rules and regulations that were set forth, the ncaa's that
- 22:31down and put out a nice little email to all the clients who
- 22:36then gave us all lecturers email, Zoom calls regarding
- 22:40transfers and it's quite interesting.
- 22:47We also yes, yes. Well. so, I was speaking just, I
- 22:57mean, just from my track and field perspective, if you are an
- 23:02NCAA cross country athlete, you basically have three windows In
- 23:10which to transfer the window right after the NCAA cross
- 23:15chart, cross championships. The window right after the
- 23:20indoor championships and in the window right?
- 23:23After the outdoor championships, if you are track and field
- 23:29athlete, just basically indoor and outdoor.
- 23:32You have those two windows 6? 60 days?
- 23:36Am I correct? Absolutely.
- 23:37So yeah, 60 days. And then the only exceptions is,
- 23:45if your coach leaves He's right, it coach.
- 23:51Let's be clear. Yes, your head coach leaves and
- 23:53then there's always the waiver, you know.
- 23:56Yeah. Kids parents, you know, fall in
- 24:00hard times, I got to go back home file, a waiver, you know,
- 24:04we can you can get, you can get that done.
- 24:07What is really interesting about this?
- 24:12This new transfer rule is the fact that A for, for transfer,
- 24:19and they specifically said for for transfer, whoever takes that
- 24:26transfer kid, on whatever money, they put them on that kid stays
- 24:32on that money until either. They exhaust their eligibility.
- 24:40Or if they, you know, if they decide to move on or whatever
- 24:45you are still on the hook. For that kid.
- 24:49Okay. And so immediately, you know,
- 24:53the question started coming. So what if they violate a rule,
- 24:57what if they, you know what? If you know, they do something
- 25:01conduct detrimental to the team. You had any idea, what if you
- 25:04kick him off the team? And the answer that I got was
- 25:08that you are still on the hook that kid is still going to be on
- 25:12your books. And I mean that that is I think
- 25:19what it's going to do is that it's going to change the way
- 25:24that schools operate in respect to the transfer portal.
- 25:28They are going to be much more careful.
- 25:34You're going to be much more is not strictly about numbers now,
- 25:37right? You are literally going to do
- 25:39your homework. On any prospect that is coming
- 25:44into your into your program. The map should you should have
- 25:48been doing in the first place. Absolutely so.
- 25:51So let me know when you're done, but I do know I'm finished, I'm,
- 25:54you can go ahead. So, so thing is remember the
- 25:59thing with the cross-country athlete.
- 26:01They get the three Windows if they have all three seasons,
- 26:04right? If you only have cross country
- 26:05than yours, you only got the one window.
- 26:07If you only have either one the other one window.
- 26:09So the three Windows only applied to the party.
- 26:11That has all three secret. See, I disagree with you.
- 26:19This has been going on forever and people will continue.
- 26:24I've always said, of course, all this is a guy that has a million
- 26:26transferred right now. Alright.
- 26:27So I've always said in believe that taking on transfers is,
- 26:33like, buying a new used car. You're taking on somebody else's
- 26:36problem. Absolutely.
- 26:37So in fact that they have to now pay for The person I don't think
- 26:43they're going changing because that the bottom line people want
- 26:46to win and people think we all do.
- 26:50Oh, that was their problem there, I can handle that.
- 26:53It won't happen here. So it may make you shy away from
- 26:58the person. That's well, maybe they can help
- 27:02me. You might shy away from that
- 27:04person, but if it's a big dog, they're going to take him.
- 27:09And they're going to find a way to make it work because I was
- 27:11all this is this rule is for, is for the coach out there and this
- 27:17was happening, they were taking a transfer and then the transfer
- 27:22didn't work out there. Making them go away.
- 27:23Mmm, right. So now they make them go away.
- 27:26And now when they this just just athle knots go to another school
- 27:31and sit. Yeah.
- 27:33Right. Because did because of the
- 27:35fourth floor for down that's why it's specifically the for
- 27:38Fortran. Ava.
- 27:39Right. So that's what this is all
- 27:40about. I disagree, I think when the tin
- 27:44flag kid that supposedly had issues on the campus everybody
- 27:49still recruiting them going to because the only thing I can fix
- 27:52it, allow me to be and I will say Clyde, I'm waiting to hear
- 27:59what you have to say and I think I mean what's we're Solutions is
- 28:04coming from is one planet, it's a planet.
- 28:08Right first was that purse world?
- 28:11Yeah, exactly. Almost disagree.
- 28:15See, because it's not about be having to be in a first world
- 28:17problem. Because if you'll allow me to be
- 28:19Betty, I don't have to take those first.
- 28:22I can go get the guys. Okay, I'm okay.
- 28:24See if you want. We just have to suffer the
- 28:56consequences of these rules as they are done.
- 28:59So the facts all world when all the money is the same anyway,
- 29:03you're either all-in scholarship or you ain't it's really not
- 29:07that big of a deal that you say. Can take the 44 guy.
- 29:10You gotta eat it. No matter what, because it's all
- 29:12the same dollars, right? Let's see that nonsense trickles
- 29:15down to US Olympic sports, where all the dollars ain't the same.
- 29:20And now you have to make even more strategic decisions.
- 29:24Now where this becomes a petty first world issue for the likes
- 29:29of portal King, sitting in the throne anyway, Or don't care,
- 29:40that's your new kings and queens we all want
- 29:56that. Not all of us are able, you are
- 29:59able and so now you will get to be able and those close to the
- 30:05throne will get to be able to enter just a different little
- 30:08way. Now, you can go into the portal
- 30:12and strategic about, you know what, though?
- 30:151000 might need this 20% because it don't work out.
- 30:19I'm not paying, I'm not paying the 100.
- 30:21And you know what? They'll still come to you.
- 30:23They will not stop. Oh yes, we note in.
- 30:27Oh, Come here for 20. You want me to be a bit bag
- 30:31secured? There's never been a 10 Flats
- 30:35printed account for 20% this topic but it hasn't been a 10
- 30:39Flats printer no. But there has been a 2510 long
- 30:42jumper, who was a 10 3 squared? Our who came for 20%.
- 30:47Okay, all I know is that the man's talking about ten flat so
- 30:50you know, okay I see we just get high.
- 31:01Yes, and now, okay, we're C. So you so I cannot and will not
- 31:08speak to other people like it, I can speak for this campus.
- 31:13I am not going to sit down Down and less than an offer for that
- 31:18we because they might have history or issues.
- 31:22It's either they're worth what they're worth, or they're not.
- 31:24And if they're not worth, if that's AI, don't want to take
- 31:26the chance on the answers going to be without off from it all.
- 31:29And we actually believe that you are now.
- 31:31Say, I believe that, hence, that is absolutely true.
- 31:35Hey, that's why I said it was petty and cynical are so right.
- 31:39But that ain't everybody. Here's a set right here.
- 31:42Here's a scenario. And this was another question
- 31:45that was put forward athlete. A goes to University, be right?
- 31:52The transfer, the period comes up, he jumps in the portal right
- 32:01now. The question is, can you treat
- 32:04that kid like you would a normal kid?
- 32:06And the answer is no. That you cannot mess with that
- 32:10kids money. If he go, he jumps in the
- 32:13portal, right? Used to be able to don't think
- 32:16you can't anymore. Yeah.
- 32:18So so again You know, and again, I think we're talking about a
- 32:23very small subsection of athletes in our sport that have
- 32:31chosen, you know, that choose to manipulate the system, the
- 32:34choose to, you know, just didn't I think to a little bit deeper
- 32:41into that part of it can't mess with their money for that year
- 32:46that year. That's what I'm saying.
- 32:47Yeah. That you have a like.
- 32:48So and I think if they go on the portal and you And I told her
- 32:51that we jumped into the world today.
- 32:53Yes, you can't mess their money for the rest of this academic
- 32:56year, absence. After this Academic Year is
- 32:58done, then you can take their scholarship.
- 33:00Yeah, yeah. Where they're in there are
- 33:01non-renewable roller for you could take it on the day.
- 33:04You can I can I ask a question. So have they eliminated the
- 33:08meteor tree ever? Yes, they have.
- 33:11Now they have it. No no they have not.
- 33:15So I could say that's got to be another window so forth and that
- 33:19eliminated are some specificity that we overlooked.
- 33:23So the fall and spring sports are actually 45 days.
- 33:26It's just winter that 60 fall Sports.
- 33:30Have a window of May 1st through the 15th winter sports, just had
- 33:35the 60 days spring Sports have December 1st through the 15th as
- 33:41well. Exactly.
- 33:42So there's your mid-year. Where's your mood?
- 33:44Yeah. Because that's because I was
- 33:47confused. I was like, okay, but the irony
- 33:51of the mid-year window read, December 1 through 15 So just
- 33:57think about that for a second. So who it affects his basketball
- 34:02or not, they cannot or place to start an agency.
- 34:07Right. Right.
- 34:08But here's the trickle down to US, December 1 through 15.
- 34:13So you're telling me that on the back, end of big part of this
- 34:17new rule is if I bet on mr. Hopkins.
- 34:20And I realize that I'm wrong. I can't go correct it.
- 34:24I'll just got to eat it but I I have a total of fourteen days to
- 34:27figure it out. Mmm, yep.
- 34:29Portal days, portal days, portal things, right?
- 34:33Heaven forbid, he jumps on there.
- 34:34You know, three days left. I need to figure it out right
- 34:37now and I'm going to add this to the equation.
- 34:41The NCAA has rules a dead period rule.
- 34:45Right? So Kid X is now knocking on your
- 34:50door. Hey, I'm ready to come.
- 34:53You can't bring him on a visit. You can't, you know, that
- 34:57because that's the say they get in a little late and that
- 35:00coincides with the NCAA period, the Dead period.
- 35:04You're literally taking this kid blindly can bring him on a
- 35:08visit. You can't all you're doing is
- 35:10talking to them on the phone, right?
- 35:13Yeah. And you're making a decision so
- 35:1699% of the people out there are taking the kid based on
- 35:23performance. Yes.
- 35:26Like we talked, we talked a lot about, you know, and like Lamar
- 35:29and I have beaten this horse to death over the last 30 years,
- 35:32you know, the average of the top five performances that you could
- 35:34have a kid that ran, you know, 10 20 or 10 15.
- 35:41I make a little bit more appealing and with a 2.0 win, it
- 35:45might sometimes within 15, what a 3.0.
- 35:48The rest of the performances are 10:30 something which might be
- 35:52windy as well, but all they see is the 10:1, mmm.
- 35:55And you're gonna To recruit that sit at meat off the 10 one and
- 35:57when they get there, they can't break 10:30.
- 35:59Now that's why I went on. Back in the fourth exam, you
- 36:02don't do their homework, do your homework?
- 36:04Yeah, that's what it boiled down to really?
- 36:07Yeah, and have conviction about your homework, right?
- 36:10Like look, if you really need a sprinter and you see a young
- 36:14lady, that's got an 11 22 and it's windy.
- 36:18And then, the next six marks are 1160. 11:58 like what else
- 36:23looking at the 11 to what else is it anomaly?
- 36:27It didn't happen. I've been I've been saying this
- 36:32I literally said this this week to recruit and their family and
- 36:37they always get mad but I'm sorry as it is.
- 36:41You are the what your average says you are.
- 36:45Yeah not your lifetime best. Yeah, we run bunch of races.
- 36:52I need to know what I'm usually going to be looking at.
- 36:54Yes hmm the norm sorry listen solution has made.
- 36:59He made reference to this literally about 30 years ago, we
- 37:05had this conversation and we decided that if we really want
- 37:09to know somebody is Take their number one, Mark toss it in the
- 37:12trash can take two to eleven average it, that's where you
- 37:15going to get every day on your campus, that meanness and it and
- 37:20I don't care what you kid. I don't care how great a family,
- 37:23I don't care how broken a home that like the scenarios don't
- 37:27matter because the standard deviation is covered in numbers.
- 37:34Two through 11 and it's the thing you have to do and this is
- 37:40My deal. You have to be able to use your
- 37:43eyes. You have to sit down and look at
- 37:46them. And look at the training age and
- 37:48look at the training system. And where's that going to lead
- 37:51you? You know because you know Lamar
- 37:53knows this about me but I've got if I find a kid an athlete, I
- 37:57should say another chili, kid, an athlete that is running
- 38:001040s, four or five times and it's run some 21:34 five times
- 38:05and they have a certain length to them.
- 38:07I am camping out at their door. Door.
- 38:11And if that's a math leaders, from a cold-weather spot trust
- 38:14him, believe he will give them the bag because every one of
- 38:19those. Hey, you know who that is?
- 38:21That's Joseph Family. Exactly.
- 38:25Yes. So here's something I was going
- 38:29to say, don't overlook the fact that this is applicable to
- 38:33graduate and undergraduate student athletes.
- 38:36So here's where I think this is interesting.
- 38:40Less our compliance people because they gave us a grid.
- 38:43So we could follow this for indoor track and field, which is
- 38:47considered a winter sport there. They get the 60-day application
- 38:51for the date days to be in the portal.
- 38:54So, Her graduate students, right?
- 38:57Where they only have an indoor and outdoor whatever the
- 39:00situation might be. They have to be in the portal
- 39:02before. Make sure I say this right on
- 39:06March 1st through April 29th and then door shut.
- 39:14So they're going to be some people in those situations
- 39:17they've given left out but you know, there's always the waiver
- 39:19process. So yeah, exactly what away were
- 39:21you and if we're going to be honest, the NCAA way.
- 39:25The process has become about a 98 to 99%.
- 39:30See, here's the thing regulations.
- 39:33Here's the thing. Also, I don't think that there's
- 39:35been a plethora of athletes out there that just had an indoor
- 39:39just have outdoor know. There's not a lot of those folks
- 39:43that did exist. Oh so, so that's why I don't
- 39:46think when people started kind of panicking about the
- 39:48scenarios, you know they're panicking for no reason and in
- 39:51let's be let's be clear. Also, the athletes are going to
- 39:55figure this out. Yes, their parents are going to
- 39:57figure this out. Other Kids are going to figure
- 40:00this out and have their a please whispering to this athlete.
- 40:03If you think you want to do this, you better get in there
- 40:05before. So yeah, that's gonna be the
- 40:07biggest thing is this like, you know, because people always as
- 40:10they seem to forget just like they have serious recency bias.
- 40:13Like in a year, we will be having no more effects of
- 40:17covid-19 extra years. Exactly right.
- 40:21So any year we go back to normalcy, right, where, you
- 40:25know, you got five years to make four.
- 40:29Not seven years to make for, actually it effects.
- 40:34Like many for the 24th at 24 25 year.
- 40:39That's the last year. Yeah so you got this year and
- 40:43two more, right? Yeah, twenty two twenty three,
- 40:46twenty three, twenty four, twenty four, twenty five.
- 40:49So you got this year and two more where it's effective and it
- 40:51happy that we're not most. But most of those last two years
- 40:56have washed themselves out by then, you know I'm saying like
- 41:00but the reason the reason the first year the second well yeah,
- 41:03I sure do. Right now I sure hope your
- 41:05wrongs. I got a bunch of them on my
- 41:06page, they wash out my beak. I might be moving moving to Fort
- 41:11Worth sleeping on your couch, but you were just like it's like
- 41:25Christmas, right? You get to keep your best
- 41:28athletes for an extra year for no.
- 41:31Real reason like that. Nothing.
- 41:33They hurt nothing. Wrong with them.
- 41:35They just get to be here another year.
- 41:37Yeah, I'll take that right? But what the what you're talking
- 41:41about like I agree with you that that 24 25 year, right?
- 41:45But most of them. You didn't even know what you
- 41:49had when you have when they had covid, you know what I'm saying?
- 41:52Like that's why I'm saying, a lot of them are going to wash
- 41:54themselves out track and field wise, buy that shit.
- 41:57Let's see. What do you don't you
- 41:58understand? What you're speaking to is the
- 42:00typical fifth-year senior, yes, we're gonna go back to shows so
- 42:04that's my best, my point. I don't think they've watched
- 42:06anybody out. I mean, those are, you see,
- 42:07those are the apples that you brought in that.
- 42:09You basically you were given a free registry.
- 42:11Yes, that's what you give it. So, I personally, I'm excited
- 42:15about mine, the washout. Because because of the, you
- 42:22know, the injury rules and anti double-a and covid.
- 42:25I had a baseball player that had three freshman years Mmm, that
- 42:31happened. Yeah, he was a and and because
- 42:34of Life situation, he had a brain tumor eighth grade.
- 42:38So we end up having to repeat the eighth grade.
- 42:40He was literally a 22 turning 23 year, old freshman crazy.
- 42:48Yeah, I know there's a lot of 23 year-old seniors on people's
- 42:50campuses right now. I mean, he got, drafted last
- 42:55year, they like well, this year and this year's draft, he had
- 42:58three years of Eligibility left. Yeah.
- 43:03Wow well happy. Happy signings moving forward,
- 43:12the NFL. the NFL, I mean, just When you know that reality is
- 43:50coming, you have to jump on the right now, right?
- 43:55The New York football. Giants are 2 and 0 and leading
- 44:00the nfc's and and and and folks these are the NFC least.
- 44:05Is that what you think? Yep.
- 44:06That too. That too.
- 44:08Because the Cowboys are a Hot Flaming dumpster fire but
- 44:14they're only one game behind us. And you know, I got a couple of
- 44:21curiosity, please. The triplets still played for
- 44:29them so that was in the 90s. There's no, there's no reason to
- 44:34take gratuitous shots at the governor.
- 44:39Oh man, hey, I mean the good thing is is that the Browns?
- 44:44Thank you, not get it out of there.
- 44:46Get out of there not having a A great weekend of time management
- 44:51was the third worst thing that happened in the NFL this week,
- 44:55right? Like this is how bad this the
- 44:57Broncos won a game. And their fans were chanting out
- 45:05the clock number countdown on plays, so they could stop
- 45:11getting delay of game penalty game, penalties, and there are
- 45:14things on the internet to actually make it seem as if the
- 45:17head coach of the Broncos. Can't tell time.
- 45:20I mean, there's like he's not bad.
- 45:24He's got that bad at time management.
- 45:29And nothing's worse really quick.
- 45:32Nothing's worse than that. How the Raiders lost to the
- 45:37Cardinals. Look like it's pretty funny.
- 45:42I mean, I've never seen this nonsense.
- 45:46Where are you? Your whole defense is falls,
- 45:49apart goes to sleep for like 10 minutes.
- 45:51The reason that the NFL is the best of the professional league
- 45:56is because of the same reason that I choose to Route.
- 46:00The way. I route in college football,
- 46:02it's always chaos only, it's designed to chaos because they
- 46:07structure everything to be as You know, parity Centric as
- 46:11possible, right? So if you didn't think it was
- 46:15possible for the Cincinnati Bengals to be owing to.
- 46:18And in last place off the Super Bowl, I don't know why you
- 46:22didn't think that was possible happens more often than you
- 46:24think, all right mean, it happens a lot to the Super Bowl
- 46:28loser, a lot. Listen, last year, AFC playoffs,
- 46:33number one seed was the Tennessee Titans.
- 46:35They are owing to and the Jacksonville Jaguars are in
- 46:38first place. So how much money is going to be
- 46:44spent on this Jets? Bengals game coming on you.
- 46:49Right now I'm telling you, the Jets are one and one the gesso,
- 46:54forget all that the Bengals are owing to write.
- 46:58If they go to Owen three like one team in the last 50 years to
- 47:04make the playoffs after Owen 3. And the biggest could absolutely
- 47:09lose that. I just want to know this.
- 47:12What is the last of the Jacksonville Jaguars shutout?
- 47:15Anybody? Oh my goodness.
- 47:17Oh, other than the other than themselves.
- 47:19Yeah. Right.
- 47:21The Jaguars were dominant. Yes, I'm glad you brought that
- 47:26up. I would like to say something in
- 47:32the NFL there are players that do not help themselves.
- 47:36Like you know, Baker Mayfield is a great example, he screws up a
- 47:41lot, he runs his mouth, a lot and catches a lot of heat and
- 47:44most of that is his fault. But at the end of the year last
- 47:49year the Indianapolis Colts went to Jacksonville who is by far
- 47:55the worst team. All they had to do is win to get
- 47:58into the playoffs, they lost and everybody blamed Carson Wentz.
- 48:06Who threw 27 touchdowns and seven picks last year.
- 48:09Carson Wentz is now in Washington, d.c. playing mauling
- 48:14very well and the Colts might be the worst people.
- 48:20No, no because they have a tie. They have a tie but damn bike.
- 48:26Matt, Ryan is as done as anyone has ever been.
- 48:31Yeah, Maddie ice has no ice has melted.
- 48:33Yes, they would be better off. I'm paying, you know, whatever
- 48:38the dollar figure is for Andrew Luck to come back.
- 48:43A line, the line on the Giants game.
- 48:45Right now is one minus one for the Giants.
- 48:51Know, before we go much further, I want to have to category.
- 48:56We agree disagree with you bag secured.
- 49:00The worst thing eyewitnesses we can was the Cleveland Browns,
- 49:03don't see? No, I was just trying to be nice
- 49:05but I'd like your up 13 with a minute, in 13 seconds left, the
- 49:09game. Okay so I turn it off.
- 49:11Off. No, you gotta go backwards
- 49:19because they're just increasing my pain.
- 49:28I don't want to talk about it. That you just don't lose the
- 49:33football game so I get all the other stuff.
- 49:35You said not preciate it, but shame on the Cleveland Browns
- 49:39crushing myself and all the other day, This is why I don't
- 49:42talk about the Brows. I mean, when you have always
- 49:44asked me to talk about the Browns as well, talk about the
- 49:47Browns and literally your choices are score, a touchdown
- 49:55and play more football, or run out the clock and the game is
- 50:00over. There weren't three teams in the
- 50:05history of football. That pick score a touchdown and
- 50:09play more football. Well, not now, see, I would now
- 50:12I want to want to be clear Lucius The entire black side of
- 50:18my family is from Cleveland. Cleveland Browns are my father's
- 50:22favorite team. So I'm not, I don't, I don't
- 50:24have I have a soft spot in my heart for the Cleveland Brown.
- 50:29but damn, like if If a New England Patriot would have run
- 50:38the ball into the endzone, they would have been cut on Monday.
- 50:42Mmm, come on. No, no, no, no, no.
- 50:53When he was told do not kick the ball to DeSean Jackson.
- 50:56Yep. And then he kicked the ball to
- 50:58DeSean Jackson and the Duke was fired on the way to the locker
- 51:02room after the loss. Yes, but see Cleveland is one of
- 51:07these organizations who just don't deserve good things.
- 51:12That moment is DeShaun Watson. You know what's the word I'm
- 51:18looking for here Karma? Hmm, and it's probably going to
- 51:23continue They just got to eat. He's got to eat it this year.
- 51:28He's got to get it right now. I your pettiness shown greatly
- 51:33this with that statement, but Sir, John Watson could be
- 51:43playing for the Dallas Cowboys. The Browns are the Browns about,
- 51:48it doesn't matter who they look, I go back to Baker, Mayfield in
- 51:52area, that stupid decision. They've made, Do with Karma
- 51:56Browns are just the Browns. Hey, leave it at that, round the
- 52:01browser at first place right now.
- 52:04Well, you know the Chiefs look. She's look great.
- 52:18Hey but petition right now though the chief did look good
- 52:21you rush out of the problem. Yes.
- 52:24Oh wow. Early to that party.
- 52:28Yes. Wow you were no like you started
- 52:30that part that that dude. Wow.
- 52:34But he he's a man of boys right now.
- 52:37Yes he is. Yes he is they still got to show
- 52:41up and do it when it counts for me.
- 52:43But it looks like that's that that's their kind of their
- 52:45charge right now for de panne. They look good.
- 52:48He looks phenomenal. He absolutely does.
- 52:51And since we're on the topic, I'm just gonna throw it out to
- 52:53you all because everybody agrees that the AF c-- has the better
- 52:58collection of top tier teams currently I'm just I'm looking,
- 53:03I'm literally looking at the NFC right now and I don't know who
- 53:08y'all think is going to keep the 45 year old out of the Super
- 53:12Bowl, but honestly none of them. It ain't going to be the joint.
- 53:17Well, you know, I think that when you talk about the 45 year
- 53:21old, they need to get him before he gets to rust off.
- 53:25I'll just hit slowly coming off every week, so, yeah, I do.
- 53:32Because he's gone in about two weeks.
- 53:34He's going to be that, dude, again, and then we can find me
- 53:36because it is because he's because he's cause he's just a
- 53:40little off right now. He's irritated.
- 53:43Just a little, you got family stuff going on a little
- 53:46distracted. He's getting wins days off.
- 53:48Don't let him start 56 and then you guys have facto NFC
- 53:54Championship is this weekend. You want to I'll tell you this
- 54:04one of those two teams. One of those two teams is going
- 54:07to be in the Super Bowl in the NFC.
- 54:09Well it ain't going to be the Packers.
- 54:11I mean this you and all your Aaron Rodgers hate
- 54:15notwithstanding. What there's nobody in the NFC,
- 54:19but Tampa that you can say definitively is better than
- 54:22that. You'll see is bad.
- 54:26Listen bro, the past the Packers have no weapons.
- 54:35Aaron. Rodgers is experimenting with
- 54:36drugs and he ain't beat Tom Brady, in eight years.
- 54:42Listen, listen, Aaron Rodgers, I'm just telling you the NFC
- 54:53pulls. Has no threat.
- 54:54The giant operating rules will knock a rocket out of your high
- 54:58and I'm a Giants fan. Stop it.
- 55:02It is high. It's Edibles are bad for you.
- 55:06Stop that. Can I ask the governor?
- 55:09A question, a serious question. Scott.
- 55:15Currently the best quarterback in the NFL?
- 55:17No. So Cooper's not bad.
- 55:21Wow, that was the most Petty punch in the gut ever.
- 55:27And I'm going to give I'm gonna get credit.
- 55:48Cooper, cooper for the guy that he's paying forty, five million
- 56:07dollars, sir. Take some listen, put him in an
- 56:13old folks home and take the team from him because y'all have no
- 56:17shot at Being successful as long as that man is in front but you
- 56:21know what? The Sunday know.
- 56:22We we love it, we Giants fans love it.
- 56:28Oh my goodness. The NFL is like the gift that
- 56:33always gives. Every week.
- 56:36There's again, I say the Broncos won a game and their head coach
- 56:45is now photos even worse than he was after the worst game.
- 56:49Time decision ever made in the first week.
- 56:53I'm sorry, there's no evidence that do no good.
- 56:56Somebody put out of me and it had a picture of him and it's
- 57:00his when you lie on your resume and you don't get caught.
- 57:04Oh my God. Gosh, why?
- 57:06Oh my God. Okay, but let's go back to the
- 57:09summer. Be clear about this.
- 57:11They hired him because they thought they were getting a
- 57:15package deal, it was supposed to be him and Aaron Rodgers.
- 57:19Yes, Aaron didn't. Come airplane, mommy off.
- 57:23Come and this dude, Russell Wilson out there.
- 57:27Looking at this difference Highway Patrol.
- 57:36Love it. Love it.
- 57:39All right. Well, you know they say we don't
- 57:42know anything besides running in circles or jumping far high and
- 57:45throwing. So obviously there's things to
- 57:48be as you ethics take pontificated with the NFL.
- 57:52So with that, we're going to have more fun and let the
- 57:58governor step in line for some, would you rather?
- 58:01Okay, here we go. Oh my goodness.
- 58:15All right. So you ready?
- 58:16Yes, I'm ready. All right.
- 58:18Would you rather eat only cake or pie for dessert?
- 58:22Hi, would you rather have your dream car or your dream house?
- 58:29Dream house? Would you rather never be able
- 58:35to use a straw for your beverage or never have ice for your
- 58:39beverage straw? I mean when we moved into an era
- 58:45where you have no idea what you're sucking, your drink out
- 58:50of nowadays paper, is it cardboard?
- 58:55Is it avocado? Yeah, no idea but you know that
- 58:59it it will deteriorate with your drink.
- 59:07Okay, would you rather fall store false start or third foul?
- 59:15Terrell start or third foul. Yeah, third foul.
- 59:20Got it really Yes, yes. Would you rather lose your keys
- 59:30or lose your phone? I would rather lose my keys,
- 59:43which is so crazy. I don't think you're the only
- 59:45one who had answered that way. Would you rather always have
- 59:49your food prepared, incorrectly or never be able to eat what you
- 59:53really want? Incorrectly.
- 59:58Yes, I figure the rest out gentleman.
- 1:00:03The floor is yours. Okay, so now I'm done, I'm good.
- 1:01:14since we just got off of our NFL decision, Would you rather would
- 1:01:22you rather? Watch Cooper, Rush, won a
- 1:01:26playoff game. Or.
- 1:01:34Move off deck to get a better cutie.
- 1:01:37Oh my God, the game. Didn't question for Cowboys,
- 1:01:45gosh. Give me, give me a second here.
- 1:01:49All right, for the record. That is well since his first
- 1:01:54year that is 12 and 22 against winning teams, all right?
- 1:01:59I would rather It's a great question.
- 1:02:05I would rather win a playoff game.
- 1:02:09And that's why I was spared you not to team.
- 1:02:13That's the only rationally that hey what what is the biggest
- 1:02:18knock he doesn't. It hasn't mattered.
- 1:02:20What teams we have fielded. We have just found a way to lose
- 1:02:25in the playoffs period. So give me the win.
- 1:02:29I'll take a win. For rain Dakota.
- 1:02:38Or rain Dakota. Hundreds of millions of dollars
- 1:02:44in nowhere to spend it. Yeah.
- 1:02:49So I'm gonna I'm gonna go come on.
- 1:02:53I think I don't think I want to go.
- 1:02:54I'm going to move over the coach.
- 1:02:56Okay, so would you rather coach The.
- 1:03:07In see a champion in the triple jump.
- 1:03:15I would you rather coach. We can see a record holder in
- 1:03:24the long jump. No longer hangs over record.
- 1:03:32Um, I would rather close to Champion.
- 1:03:39My man, I would rather closer champion.
- 1:03:43And it's, that's pretty self-explanatory.
- 1:03:46I mean, yeah. Yeah, this it will see this.
- 1:03:51There was no Petty nature. That was just kind of a, you
- 1:03:54know, a teaching moment for other than the, you would have
- 1:03:56right answer. So, I appreciate that.
- 1:03:58Absolutely, because, because let's, let's be clear.
- 1:04:02Clyde has been Petty all night long.
- 1:04:05From question word, very educational question, glad got
- 1:04:11on the call, Bob with bullets chamber.
- 1:04:14Like yeah, I promise you. He has note over there either
- 1:04:18physical or mental notes. He has maybe both yes.
- 1:04:28Boom. Okay.
- 1:04:43Would you rather? Get all of the shoes, all of the
- 1:04:50sneakers in the world that you want.
- 1:04:55But the price is you have to coach me in the 1500 every day
- 1:04:59for the rest of your life. Or you could be coached by Sir
- 1:05:08Lucius in the hundred and the long jump.
- 1:05:12Uh-huh. But, you have to Forever, where,
- 1:05:17what are those like, literally - shoe game like no one knew
- 1:05:26recognize the shoes you have on your food?
- 1:05:29All right, so I don't think you understand how much joy it would
- 1:05:34give Give me the coach you in the 1500.
- 1:05:37Yeah, actually say Joy. That's the amount of fun that I
- 1:05:47would have. Oh, my goodness.
- 1:05:50I would throw every single combination you could think of
- 1:05:54at you, whether it's 15/100 or 82, hundreds, I would throw it
- 1:06:00all at you. We, we would get to the bottom
- 1:06:03of it, so, How I have news for everyone on this planet, as it
- 1:06:08becomes the 1500 me and this group like the joke about my
- 1:06:121500, first of all, my PBS for 3870 which makes it not even
- 1:06:18bad. It's legitimately solid.
- 1:06:22Okay, but I only ran one of those one but more importantly
- 1:06:26and this is the secret that most people don't know, it is not
- 1:06:31what I was or not doing in the Hundred as it pertains to
- 1:06:36training. I could do a lot of things in
- 1:06:39training in the 1500, but after nine events of selling my soul.
- 1:06:45Absolutely. The tank was just about empty
- 1:06:49and I emptied in every one of those 1500s so it would be more
- 1:06:54or less entertaining as you would think so.
- 1:06:56Lamar what we witnessed was love that way you were sharing your
- 1:07:02love for the event with the world.
- 1:07:05We see ya. Here's what I'm going to say.
- 1:07:07My PB is for 3870. I am telling you the 438 flat
- 1:07:14would have put me in the grave. Calling the day. 77 more 10th
- 1:07:23out of died, right there on the Finish Line.
- 1:07:25They just really put the medal around my neck and here lies a
- 1:07:28bronze medalist with a course. That's funny.
- 1:07:33Anyhow, well played, well played.
- 1:07:36I just need everybody to understand like Koreans love for
- 1:07:39shoes is as great as mine is, if not worse.
- 1:07:43Yes. And that dude is not ever
- 1:07:45wearing anybody's. What are those?
- 1:07:48It's not happening. Okay, that's it.
- 1:07:53Say what are those? I've never seen those before.
- 1:07:58Yeah, you got it. Hey, shouting off.
- 1:08:37I'm going to say this. I'm going to shout out one mr.
- 1:08:41Linden Victor only because it has been a labor of thus far.
- 1:08:49It has been a labor of love. It's probably the easiest person
- 1:08:53I've ever been involved with coaching.
- 1:08:56He's got his Linden isms, which every athlete.
- 1:08:59That's any good has. And things that you, you know,
- 1:09:02you got to work through and get past.
- 1:09:05But at the end of the day, like I've never questioned that
- 1:09:07dudes, heart. And I just want everybody to
- 1:09:10hear this. He was.
- 1:09:14Coached up and lied to about what he had to run in the 1500
- 1:09:20here and said Li for a PB and an overall PB and that is the
- 1:09:26equivalent of like a game-winning jump shot or walk
- 1:09:30off home. Run the man ran a PB in the 1500
- 1:09:33to set up. He be in the decathlon.
- 1:09:36Want a whole bunch of money and too many damn trophies.
- 1:09:39So RP props go to one mr. Linden Victor who I Dunno.
- 1:09:45I dunno watches the show. Probably won't watch this Friday
- 1:09:49because he's still in Europe with his girlfriend.
- 1:09:51Maybe if you had say, I don't know what's going on there,
- 1:09:54right? With a man's business.
- 1:09:55In the street, seriously. What is that?
- 1:10:00I just said people do crazy things and pets you know
- 1:10:05everybody to relax really? We need you to relax.
- 1:10:26Anyways. Oh my God, these friends.
- 1:10:42So, last year, obviously our inaugural year here at San Jose
- 1:10:47State, a student on the campus named, JC Williams came to us
- 1:10:54with an idea of following, the track team around to shoot a
- 1:10:59documentary for his senior project or graduation.
- 1:11:04Whatever it was. The I thought it was a cool idea
- 1:11:09and he's a student. So I wanted to support him and
- 1:11:11the athletic department green, greenlit the project, and
- 1:11:15supported him. He stayed around all year
- 1:11:20through the fall, through the winter through championships.
- 1:11:23Followed us to NCAA regionals. And today I will say, because if
- 1:11:30you are watching this on Friday as you are supposed To be his
- 1:11:37documentary is documentary. Titled adversity, will be
- 1:11:43premiering on our campus in conjunction with the black
- 1:11:48student union here at San Jose State.
- 1:11:52It's it has a very last chance. You Netflix kind of feel to it.
- 1:11:59I think you did a beautiful job and obviously I'm One of the
- 1:12:04subjects in the film, but it's about everybody.
- 1:12:07It's about the athletes, it's about staff and, and all the
- 1:12:10things that make this place a very unique Endeavor that we are
- 1:12:15all on together. So mr.
- 1:12:17Williams, beautiful job, sir. I can't wait to see the whole
- 1:12:21thing unfold. I know the first two episodes
- 1:12:24are done, and that is what he is premiering this weekend on our
- 1:12:27campus. I don't know how many there will
- 1:12:29be, and I know he has it out to some film festivals.
- 1:12:34And trying to blow it up as big as he can get it because he did
- 1:12:38that good of a job. So thank you sir, we appreciate
- 1:12:42it. Anything that puts these kids
- 1:12:45Spotlight on these kids the way they deserve to be.
- 1:12:47I'm always going to be in favor for and I hope everybody gets to
- 1:12:50see it. Somehow you can go to his
- 1:12:53Instagram. It's called Welcome underscore.
- 1:12:55Underscore adversity is the Instagram page and there are
- 1:13:00ways to donate there's clips to watch.
- 1:13:02There's all kind of things that you can get involved with.
- 1:13:04With and hopefully somebody important.
- 1:13:06We'll pick this project up and we'll all get to see it, you
- 1:13:08know, on a real screen or something.
- 1:13:10So Rob Lowe's are great job. That's cool.
- 1:13:17I'm going to be simple with mine, and I'm gonna give my
- 1:13:20Harpy props to my son. Wow.
- 1:13:25Like, oh, a lot of, as you guys know, being part of, I've had a
- 1:13:28lot going on with my family and things going on this summer and
- 1:13:34my son MJ, as we lovingly call him has been a rock.
- 1:13:38You know, checking on me every day, making sure that I'm okay.
- 1:13:43And as he likes to say, Dad, Dad, just remember miss my need
- 1:13:47to check on you sometimes and I really appreciate him for that
- 1:13:51even though he comes by in the middle of something that's
- 1:13:54always going on. He's to make me only, my,
- 1:13:56obviously makes me laugh, you know, but I just wanted that do
- 1:14:00not much. I love them and appreciate it
- 1:14:02and I'm super duper proud to be his dad and watching, grow them
- 1:14:06to be the manatees. That he's become spent pretty
- 1:14:08cool. That's awesome.
- 1:14:11Awesome. Awesome.
- 1:14:16So this, we had our team meeting yesterday. and, I opened up, you
- 1:14:27know, the or head coach. Let's each one of us talk, you
- 1:14:30know? And so I started my talk with
- 1:14:37the word anxiety. And you would have seen.
- 1:14:41I mean, the amount of athletes just that just went like this,
- 1:14:46you know? And basically my message, you
- 1:14:50know, was that, you know, some math, some programs, you know,
- 1:14:57we'll have testing some athletes, you know, will they
- 1:15:00might test week one, you know, to just say, hey, let's see
- 1:15:05where you're at, right? We waited three.
- 1:15:08Weeks, you know. So we're basically still just
- 1:15:12kind of moving around and getting our, get our feet wet.
- 1:15:16But, you know, my message was to them was that was hey, you know,
- 1:15:20we still have eight, nine months to go, right?
- 1:15:23And, and if you are anxious, now, about an arbitrary number.
- 1:15:32That is a starting point for you know, whatever it is that we're
- 1:15:37going to build upon then we're in big trouble, right?
- 1:15:42And and so you know, I know, I know that today's athletes and
- 1:15:49what they go through on a daily basis, I mean I'll hop on this
- 1:15:53until the cows come home. But You know, the stresses and
- 1:15:57the things that they're going through our so multi-layered now
- 1:16:03and, you know, you have, you know, if you're fortunate
- 1:16:08enough, they will speak to you on it or they will at least open
- 1:16:13the door for you to to kind of dive in and go, hey, you okay.
- 1:16:19Is everything? All right.
- 1:16:21And, you know, and then there are those that just internalized
- 1:16:24internally Has internalized until things spontaneously
- 1:16:28combust, right? So, I just wanted to give hardly
- 1:16:32props. NCAA athletes in general track
- 1:16:37and field athletes that are just starting their training cycles
- 1:16:41and and, you know, for their different circumstances, of
- 1:16:47course everybody's going through it.
- 1:16:50But yes, stay the course, stay the course.
- 1:16:53This is just the beginning. Okay, you're looking around.
- 1:16:57It looks like things are dire. We haven't even got talk.
- 1:17:01Over here, take a chill pill. All right and build on things.
- 1:17:08Okay, whatever that starting point is, that's what it is.
- 1:17:12Okay, chill out. Build on it.
- 1:17:16We'll see you in January. We props must be in the air.
- 1:17:23I know it's in there because I literally am that same
- 1:17:25conversation today. My heart beat cops go out to Two
- 1:17:29Gentlemen, who Helped Lamar give his RV props.
- 1:17:35There are two decathletes who are into locks, who helped mr.
- 1:17:38Lydon, Victor. Get to his 443.
- 1:17:40And when I say help, they literally were giving him
- 1:17:43signals like, stay with us. Come with me.
- 1:17:46Stay behind me. And there are multiple pictures.
- 1:17:48You see, the threesome just traveling around 1500 meters.
- 1:17:53And these two gentlemen were not going to let him miss this Mark.
- 1:17:56So shout out a heartbeat props to ask.
- 1:17:59So Huber, who Bert? We use in America we say Hubert
- 1:18:04and then who bear? I know and then Arthur pretty
- 1:18:07bow. You gentlemen did a job this
- 1:18:10weekend. That Can't even be explained.
- 1:18:14I guess they can be to the 1500 and 1800 athlete to run at the
- 1:18:18end of the tab for the deck. But thank you for allowing
- 1:18:24specifically the three of us enjoy that, but it's
- 1:18:28commendable. What you did this weekend.
- 1:18:29So with that being said, rounding out, another fun
- 1:18:34episode of Athletics, loc that will go up on time.
- 1:18:39We will do that. I know, right?
- 1:18:43I mean it is later in the evening and I'm awake.
- 1:18:46So that's step one. So this is Wi-Fi.
- 1:18:51I know Yeehaw. Oh my God.
- 1:18:56Everyone have a great week and we'll see each other soon.
- 1:18:59Bye everyone. When the lights come on the
- 1:19:05Rocks. Get to Running With The mics
- 1:19:07come on. I'm gonna smash the ramen.
- 1:19:10Would you like you all hot knife?
- 1:19:32Bring tea, these four corners wouldn't be here, but we have to
- 1:19:35start learning. You gotta understand.
- 1:19:37Rapes, gotta catch Stars. Show you how to fight for.
- 1:19:40Sure. So you are you lack experience,
- 1:19:43but still you want to talk and who is that you talk to yourself
- 1:19:46to kind of small heads prevail when the backbone strong gotta
- 1:19:50keep it coming up, won't last long Pastor Phil this end of the
- 1:19:54session and if you don't check yourself and that's wrong just
- 1:19:58trying to give you the rich asshole.
- 1:20:00So why you keep cutting us? A song to a small.
- 1:20:03We put it in slow-mo. What you fast for the task
- 1:20:08force.
