  Bible Stories for Children. Last time, we heard

  how the northern kingdom of Israel turned away

  from God. King after king led the people into

  idol worship, and they forgot the Lord who had

  rescued them. But God did not stop caring about

  his people. So God sent a prophet named Elijah.

  A man who would speak God's truth during a very
• 0:32
  difficult time. Today we'll see how Elijah first
• 0:36
  appears in the story, and how God cared for him
• 0:40
  during a terrible drought. Let's begin. King

  Ahab ruled Israel at this time. The Bible says
• 1:03
  he did more evil than the kings before him. He
• 1:07
  worshipped false gods, especially a false god
• 1:11
  named Baal. Baal was said to control rain and
• 1:15
  storms. So God sent Elijah with a message for
• 1:19
  King Ahab. Elijah announced that there would
• 1:23
  be no rain in the land for a long time. Not until
• 1:28
  God said so. And just as Elijah said, the sky
• 1:32
  became silent. No rain fell. The rivers dried
• 1:38
  up. The crops withered. For three years, there
• 1:43
  was drought. This showed something very important.

  Baal was not in control of the rain. The Lord
• 1:52
  alone rules over all. God told Elijah to leave

  and hide near a small stream called the Brook

  Karif. The king would not be happy about the

  message Elijah had delivered, and God was protecting

  his prophet. So Elijah obeyed. He traveled east

  and stayed by the brook. There Elijah drank water

  from the brook, and something amazing happened.

  Every day, Ravens brought Elijah bread and meat.

  Morning and evening, the birds came with food.

  God was providing for his prophet. But after

  some time, the drought continued and the brook
• 2:37
  eventually dried up. So God told Elijah it was
• 2:42
  time to go somewhere else. He sent Elijah to
• 2:45
  a town called Zarephath. When Elijah arrived,
• 2:49
  he saw a widow gathering sticks. She was very
• 2:54
  poor. She only had a little flour and a little
• 2:58
  oil left. She was preparing what she thought
• 3:02
  would be her final meal for herself and her son
• 3:05
  before they ran out of food. Elijah asked her
• 3:09
  for some bread. The widow explained that she
• 3:12
  only had enough food left for one small meal.
• 3:16
  But Elijah told her not to be afraid. He explained
• 3:22
  that the Lord had promised something wonderful.
• 3:25
  The jar of flour would not become empty, and
• 3:29
  the jug of oil would not run dry until the rain
• 3:32
  returned. And that's exactly what happened. Day
• 3:37
  after day, there was always enough flour. And
• 3:41
  always enough oil. God provided for Elijah, the
• 3:46
  widow, and her son. But one day, something very
• 3:51
  sad happened. The widow's son became very sick.
• 3:56
  Soon he stopped breathing. The widow was heartbroken.

  Elijah took the boy and prayed to God. And God
• 4:05
  heard Elijah's prayer. The boy's life returned
• 4:09
  to him. The widow saw that the Lord truly was
• 4:13
  the one true God. She said to Elijah, Now I know
• 4:19
  that you are man of God and that the word of
• 4:22
  the Lord from your mouth is the truth. This story
• 4:32
  reminds us that God cares for people even during
• 4:36
  very hard times. During the drought, food was
• 4:40
  scarce and life was difficult. But God still
• 4:44
  provided. Let's think together. Have you ever

  on a mountain and they will have to choose. Is
