Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: Hello, Welcome back to the Intel with Greg Cosel. On
- 0:10Speaker 1: Inside the Birds, I'm Jeff Mosher with Adam Kaplan, and
- 0:13Speaker 1: of course we've got Greg Cosell and we continue to
- 0:16Speaker 1: get Greg's tape breakdowns of NFL draft prospects for the
- 0:20Speaker 1: two thousand and twenty six NFL Draft, and it's right
- 0:23Speaker 1: around the corner and Greg, this is one of the
- 0:26Speaker 1: episodes that everybody always looks forward to. People love edge rushers.
- 0:29Speaker 1: We're gonna go through all the great edge rushers in
- 0:32Speaker 1: this draft. We know the Eagles and many other teams
- 0:34Speaker 1: put a lot of priority and emphasis on that position,
- 0:37Speaker 1: and you can't have enough. And in this draft, in
- 0:40Speaker 1: this draft, it seems like there's there's a decent amount
- 0:43Speaker 1: of them. Would you say, like, you've you enjoyed going
- 0:45Speaker 1: through the variety of edge rushers in this.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Well, you know, it's interesting you say that because I've
- 0:48Speaker 2: been through a Oh, I don't know a good amount
- 0:52Speaker 2: and there's a variety of edge players, not all of
- 0:56Speaker 2: them would I categorize as edge of rushers in a
- 0:58Speaker 2: strict sense, And I think that's an important distinction to make.
- 1:02Speaker 2: There are some players who are sort of prototypical four
- 1:05Speaker 2: to three d ms who are good players and good prospects,
- 1:09Speaker 2: but if you're looking solely for an edge rusher, they
- 1:13Speaker 2: may not be the guy you want. So we tend
- 1:16Speaker 2: to categorize everybody who plays on the edge as an
- 1:19Speaker 2: edge rusher, but it's it's not always the case. So
- 1:23Speaker 2: and we'll get to that as we go through some
- 1:24Speaker 2: individual names. But I think it's important for people to
- 1:27Speaker 2: understand up front that not every one of these guys
- 1:30Speaker 2: is a quote unquote age rusher. That if you draft them, wow,
- 1:34Speaker 2: you've got a rusher. Right, you might have a good
- 1:36Speaker 2: football player, but he might not be a great rusher.
- 1:38Speaker 3: It's a great point on that point you just made.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I'll never forget a friend of mine who who's had
- 1:44Speaker 3: IOWA over the years. Your friend, Yeah, actually I do
- 1:47Speaker 3: have them, believe or not. I don't have to actually
- 1:49Speaker 3: don't pay them to be my friend. But anyway, sours exactly.
- 1:54Speaker 3: I remember a Gesa. I said, hey, ye I think
- 1:57Speaker 3: we'll go on the first or second round.
- 1:59Speaker 4: What are your thoughts?
- 1:59Speaker 3: He goes, he's a power end, he's not an edge rusher. Yeah,
- 2:02Speaker 3: he goes, he can do it, and he actually got
- 2:05Speaker 3: better at it with Buffalo But this goes Jeff on
- 2:08Speaker 3: what Greg talked about.
- 2:09Speaker 4: You have to differentiate what an NT rusher is and.
- 2:12Speaker 3: What a power end is power and is generally more
- 2:15Speaker 3: of a This is what a friend of mine who
- 2:16Speaker 3: was a coach told me when I started calling the league.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Explain it to me to help me out to think.
- 2:20Speaker 3: When I talked about, like we're talking about with Greg,
- 2:24Speaker 3: power rusher is the run side. He might be a
- 2:28Speaker 3: pass rusher, but he's there more as a run stopper.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Yeah, Vinny Curry twenty seventeen for the Eagles power rusher
- 2:34Speaker 1: Vinny Curry rusher too. Oh yes, he could. He could
- 2:40Speaker 1: pressure on first and second down, but he would ordinarily
- 2:42Speaker 1: come off and nickel and they would go a little
- 2:44Speaker 1: lighter and smaller on the edge of it.
- 2:46Speaker 2: And it's funny. And I mentioned Epanessa because he's a
- 2:49Speaker 2: really good example in that. And I believe he was
- 2:51Speaker 2: a second round pick. He was, and and he's you know,
- 2:55Speaker 2: I guess he's technically back with Buffalo because he failed
- 2:57Speaker 2: his physical in Cleveland, so I don't know where his
- 3:00Speaker 2: status is, But that's irrelevant for this conversation. The point
- 3:03Speaker 2: is is that he's a good example of what I
- 3:05Speaker 2: was trying to the point I was trying to make
- 3:07Speaker 2: you know, big kid, solid kid, good against the run,
- 3:10Speaker 2: physical power player, but not a true path rusher. You're
- 3:14Speaker 2: not drafting him to rush the quarterback, right.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And that's why I like doing when we do this
- 3:19Speaker 1: podcast every year, because we try to make sure we
- 3:22Speaker 1: give a great understanding of every prospect, best scheme fit.
- 3:26Speaker 1: You know, more of a four to three guy, are
- 3:28Speaker 1: there more of an outside linebacker in a five to two.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So we will make sure that we handle all of
- 3:32Speaker 1: that criteria as we go through each prospect. And Greg,
- 3:36Speaker 1: we're gonna start with Texas Tech's David Bailey, one of
- 3:40Speaker 1: the top edge prospects in the draft. What do you
- 3:42Speaker 1: see in his tape?
- 3:43Speaker 4: Now? He is an edge rusher.
- 3:46Speaker 5: There's no getting around that fact with David Bailey because
- 3:48Speaker 5: David Bally, you know, we all of us huge terms
- 3:52Speaker 5: as we evaluate and quote unquote scout, you know Twitchy Sudden,
- 3:56Speaker 5: He's that guy.
- 3:58Speaker 2: I mean he is sudden off the ball. He can
- 4:01Speaker 2: challenge both the high side, meaning the outside shoulder of
- 4:04Speaker 2: the tackle. He can then work back underneath. He has moves,
- 4:08Speaker 2: he has club moves, he has rip moves. He can
- 4:11Speaker 2: close with speed to the quarterback. He has enough bend
- 4:14Speaker 2: in flexibility to flatten his rush path. That's something if
- 4:19Speaker 2: people have listened to me and us for a number
- 4:21Speaker 2: of years, they know how important that is and how
- 4:23Speaker 2: I talk about that, and what I mean by that
- 4:26Speaker 2: is when you get to the top of the arc
- 4:27Speaker 2: on the outside, you have to be able then to
- 4:31Speaker 2: flatten your rush path. Otherwise you just get pushed past
- 4:35Speaker 2: the quarterback. There's a lot of guys who can show
- 4:37Speaker 2: some bursts right off the ball, guys as you well know,
- 4:40Speaker 2: but then what happens is that they can't really bend
- 4:44Speaker 2: and they can't flatten, so they just get pushed past
- 4:47Speaker 2: the quarterback. Barey can flatten his rush path and then
- 4:50Speaker 2: close with speed. So as an edge player, he's got
- 4:55Speaker 2: what it takes as a rusher. You know, it'll be
- 4:58Speaker 2: interesting to see how he's seen. The player who probably
- 5:02Speaker 2: came to my mind when I was watching David Bally
- 5:06Speaker 2: to some degree was was someone like a Nick Benito.
- 5:09Speaker 2: And Benito came out of Oklahoma, and he was not
- 5:12Speaker 2: a high first round pick obviously, but we and I
- 5:15Speaker 2: really liked his tape a lot. But we see what
- 5:19Speaker 2: he's developed into. So what Benito is is in a
- 5:23Speaker 2: base front, it's a five to two, so he's a
- 5:25Speaker 2: stand up outside backer. But then of course in their
- 5:28Speaker 2: four man subfronts in Denver, he's an edge pass rusher.
- 5:32Speaker 2: That to me is the way I see David Bailey.
- 5:36Speaker 4: Can he let me ask a question? Yeah, I just
- 5:40Speaker 4: on on the edge rush group and over you.
- 5:42Speaker 3: This is a general question because I don't think we've
- 5:44Speaker 3: ever actually talked about this way. How much is arm
- 5:48Speaker 3: length too important when you grade these players when you
- 5:50Speaker 3: watch the tape for a rusher?
- 5:52Speaker 2: Well, it's funny you say that, because I think it's
- 5:55Speaker 2: how you deploy that. You know, some guys don't use
- 5:58Speaker 2: their arms really well. Other guys with the one arm
- 6:01Speaker 2: stab and their use of their arms to create space
- 6:05Speaker 2: and separation so that they can still use their legs effectively.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Some guys do that really really well. Some guys with
- 6:12Speaker 2: long arms at him don't do that well. So arm length, yes,
- 6:17Speaker 2: if you're putting arm length in a vacuum as an
- 6:19Speaker 2: abstract trait, you definitely say it's important. But then it
- 6:23Speaker 2: comes down to how each individual rusher uses his arm length.
- 6:28Speaker 2: You know, some guys use it really really well, and
- 6:30Speaker 2: other guys don't, so you know, it's really an individual thing.
- 6:36Speaker 2: But Bailey getting just getting back to Bailey for a sec.
- 6:39Speaker 2: He's interesting in that he's showed multiple pass rush moves
- 6:44Speaker 2: with a lot of tools in his toolbox, and that's
- 6:47Speaker 2: not often the case with college pass rushers. He saw
- 6:50Speaker 2: speed to power, rippin swiite, inside spin. He's got a
- 6:54Speaker 2: really good inside spin move. I'm not going to sit
- 6:56Speaker 2: here and say it reminded me of Dwight Freeny, but
- 6:58Speaker 2: he had a really good insight spin moves.
- 7:00Speaker 4: So, and he's got.
- 7:02Speaker 2: Really good reactive athleticism. He can change direction extremely well.
- 7:07Speaker 3: So the reason why I asked about Armlouth is because
- 7:10Speaker 3: there's always sort of like a controversial player for whatever reason.
- 7:13Speaker 4: And when we look at Reuben Bain, yeah he's going in.
- 7:17Speaker 3: The first round. But Greg, he's got less than thirty
- 7:20Speaker 3: one inch arms. So I'm interested to what your thought
- 7:22Speaker 3: process was if you watch it.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And he's a really good football player. And that's such
- 7:26Speaker 2: a hard question to answer. I mean, obviously, many different
- 7:30Speaker 2: people have many different points of view. Smart people. I'm
- 7:33Speaker 2: talking coaches, you know, not the social media world. You know,
- 7:37Speaker 2: there are some coaches who believe that in the NFL
- 7:39Speaker 2: he's not going to be able to do what he
- 7:41Speaker 2: did in college. There's other coaches who believe, Man, this
- 7:44Speaker 2: guy is just a hyper physical, competitive, tenacious guy and
- 7:48Speaker 2: he's going to do a lot of what he did
- 7:49Speaker 2: in college. You you have to make the decision as
- 7:53Speaker 2: to what you think he is. I would bet on
- 7:55Speaker 2: some teams boards he's not a top five player. I
- 7:58Speaker 2: would bet on other teams boards he is. But like
- 8:01Speaker 2: I said, at the end of the day, he's a
- 8:03Speaker 2: sawed off guy. He's not long, but he's super competitive.
- 8:08Speaker 2: He's super physical. The primary foundation of his game is
- 8:12Speaker 2: power and physicality. That's his game. He's a plus athlete,
- 8:17Speaker 2: but not a sudden twitchy athlete. The player who sort
- 8:21Speaker 2: of came to my mind when I was watching him
- 8:23Speaker 2: and Eagles fans well knows exactly who I mean here.
- 8:28Speaker 2: I kind of thought of Brandon Graham when I was
- 8:30Speaker 2: watching Okay, because Brandon Graham was not tall. He's kind
- 8:35Speaker 2: of sawed off as well, not long, but you know,
- 8:38Speaker 2: kind of explosive in a powerful way, not explosive necessarily
- 8:43Speaker 2: in a twitchy way. You know, and obviously we know
- 8:47Speaker 2: Graham his first couple of years it was a slow
- 8:49Speaker 2: star and then he became just a really solid player,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you know, not a superstar. But look, the guy's played
- 8:55Speaker 2: what he says, he's coming back. So what's he going
- 8:58Speaker 2: into his twelve thirteenth year, you know, something like that.
- 9:01Speaker 4: And he's been a really.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Yeah, even more than that, Yeah, I mean, he's been.
- 9:06Speaker 2: A really solid pro. You know, Now, if you draft
- 9:10Speaker 2: Ruben Bain in the top five, you would want him
- 9:13Speaker 2: to be no knock.
- 9:14Speaker 6: On Brandon Graham that you know, I love Brandon Graham,
- 9:17Speaker 6: but no, but you would want him to be more
- 9:19Speaker 6: than that. If you draft him in the top five,
- 9:21Speaker 6: you would want him to be a dominant edge player.
- 9:24Speaker 6: And to me, he's a pure four to three d
- 9:25Speaker 6: N He's not a stand up player.
- 9:27Speaker 1: And do you do you think? Okay, so do you
- 9:30Speaker 1: think those dimensions that that parlay?
- 9:32Speaker 4: Is my question?
- 9:32Speaker 1: And by the way, do we read his I don't
- 9:34Speaker 1: know if we gave the he is six foot two
- 9:37Speaker 1: but two hundred and sixty three pounds, which is a
- 9:39Speaker 1: better built as you can get for an edge prospect.
- 9:43Speaker 1: Do you think that limits also the moveability of a
- 9:47Speaker 1: player like that. You're not gonna joke, make him a joker.
- 9:51Speaker 1: You just said you can't stand him up. You're probably
- 9:53Speaker 1: just gonna line him up, most likely over one tackle,
- 9:56Speaker 1: I would think, and just have him rushed.
- 9:58Speaker 2: And I think I think that's fair. I mean that's
- 10:01Speaker 2: the way I see him. Maybe others see him differently.
- 10:03Speaker 2: I mean, you're dealing with a guy his game's power.
- 10:06Speaker 2: He's got strong, heavy hands, he's got grip strength, he
- 10:10Speaker 2: can control and displace offensive tackles. You know, he's that's
- 10:16Speaker 2: who he is. I don't think there's a lot of
- 10:18Speaker 2: mystery to what he is. And you know, I don't
- 10:21Speaker 2: think you know, it's not like and we'll get to
- 10:23Speaker 2: I assume we'll get to r VL Reese. Yes, Yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 2: to me, he's not like Reese in the sense that
- 10:29Speaker 2: you're gonna move Bane all around. I don't think he's
- 10:32Speaker 2: that guy. I think he's a four to three d ND.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I do want to stay with Miami, though, Greg, just
- 10:37Speaker 1: to do a little compare contrast with their other edge rusher,
- 10:39Speaker 1: Akeem messidor who another like it. Well, he's not built
- 10:43Speaker 1: exactly the same, but he's two sixty good way to
- 10:47Speaker 1: six foot three. Not the tallest guy in the world.
- 10:49Speaker 1: You want like usually six' five around the edges unless
- 10:52Speaker 1: a guy has incredible speed or speed to. Power what
- 10:54Speaker 1: did you see from From mesador by?
- 10:56Speaker 4: Contrast, yeah and he's.
- 10:57Speaker 2: DIFFERENT i mean he's he's a twin to your. ATHLETE
- 11:01Speaker 2: i mean he has that sudden quickness off the. Ball
- 11:04Speaker 2: when he's lined up as sort of in a wide nine,
- 11:06Speaker 2: alignment he can generate velocity with his. Burst he can
- 11:10Speaker 2: get to the top of the pass rush arc in a.
- 11:12Speaker 2: Hurry he showed a good ability to play off, contact
- 11:16Speaker 2: which Obviously vain can do as. Well he did show
- 11:20Speaker 2: speed to, power BUT i thought he had a good
- 11:21Speaker 2: feel for. It don't forget he's an older player with
- 11:23Speaker 2: a lot of. Experience SO i thought he did a
- 11:27Speaker 2: really good job of setting up speed to power with
- 11:29Speaker 2: pace and tempo through the early part of the, rush
- 11:32Speaker 2: because don't, forget when you do speed to, power you're
- 11:35Speaker 2: not just running right into the. Tackle you're trying to
- 11:37Speaker 2: get the tackle in a position where when you do
- 11:40Speaker 2: go into him that you can get inside of. Him
- 11:43Speaker 2: because if you're going to do speed to power and
- 11:44Speaker 2: can't get inside of, him he's just gonna stop. You
- 11:47Speaker 2: SO i Thought messidor was a guy that had a
- 11:49Speaker 2: plan as a pass. RUSHER i thought he'd used jab.
- 11:52Speaker 2: STEPS i thought he used hand. Usage he did a
- 11:54Speaker 2: good job of pairing his footwork with his hand. Usage
- 11:58Speaker 2: but he's a different player Than ruben bayin he is
- 12:01Speaker 2: he's a little more naturally.
- 12:03Speaker 3: Explosive the Term greg is looking for. Work you, know the, Players,
- 12:07Speaker 3: OKAY i got this, move AND i got something else for.
- 12:09Speaker 3: YOU i got something else for.
- 12:10Speaker 4: YOU i love that.
- 12:11Speaker 3: Term, coaches you, said, oh he's always looking for. WORK
- 12:13Speaker 3: i love that sounds of that type of.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Player it is interesting to, Me greg That miami got
- 12:19Speaker 1: really good production out of two guys who don't necessarily
- 12:23Speaker 1: fit that size measurable profile on the. Edges so you,
- 12:28Speaker 1: know obviously, YEAH.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I, mean, look he was fifty nine at the.
- 12:31Speaker 2: Combine you, KNOW i guess in TODAY'S, nfl you, know
- 12:35Speaker 2: could he be a stand, up you, know outside. BACKER
- 12:40Speaker 2: i mean, AGAIN i see him more as a as
- 12:42Speaker 2: a four to THREE d. End do people look at
- 12:45Speaker 2: two fifty nine as being too light to be a
- 12:47Speaker 2: four to THREE D m in a base? DEFENSE i
- 12:50Speaker 2: think that becomes scheme and team, specific you, KNOW i
- 12:53Speaker 2: don't think that's that's an Automatic, no he can't do,
- 12:56Speaker 2: it BUT i you, KNOW i think it depends on the.
- 12:58Speaker 4: Team.
- 12:59Speaker 1: YEAH i Think Trent cole played around through sixty. Earlier,
- 13:02Speaker 1: yeah got. Drafted he's a little TALLER i think than,
- 13:05Speaker 1: that but you know they made it.
- 13:07Speaker 2: WORK i don't, WELL i don't Remember cole being taller than,
- 13:11Speaker 2: that but you.
- 13:12Speaker 4: Couldn't.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Greg the next guy has got tremendous size and That's
- 13:18Speaker 3: keldrick fof Of.
- 13:19Speaker 4: Alburn what are your thoughts on?
- 13:20Speaker 2: Him, Yeah Keldrick fak is a fascinating player BECAUSE i
- 13:23Speaker 2: DON'T i don't think he would be, drafted AND i
- 13:26Speaker 2: could be dead, wrong you, KNOW i don't Think keldrick
- 13:29Speaker 2: falk is going to be drafted as a pure edge.
- 13:31Speaker 2: Player to be honest with, You Keldrick fawk is to
- 13:34Speaker 2: me one of the most intriguing guys to watch because
- 13:37Speaker 2: he is really. Strong he is. Powerful he's six six
- 13:41Speaker 2: to seventy. Six now you talk about a guy with arm,
- 13:44Speaker 2: Length he's thirty four and three. Eighth his wingspan is
- 13:47Speaker 2: over eighty. TWO i, mean he he looks the. Part you,
- 13:51Speaker 2: know watching, him the question that arose to me was
- 13:55Speaker 2: what's his best position as you project and transition into
- 13:58Speaker 2: the next. Level and my sense is different evaluators and
- 14:01Speaker 2: coaches will have different answers to that. QUESTION i mean
- 14:05Speaker 2: At auburn they moved him around a. LOT i mean
- 14:08Speaker 2: he basically lined up anywhere from zero technique and one
- 14:11Speaker 2: technique to you know to why. Nine so when you draft,
- 14:15Speaker 2: him what is he in your? DEFENSE i, mean, foundationally
- 14:20Speaker 2: he's a speed to power pass. Rusher he's got great,
- 14:23Speaker 2: length he's got, strong heavy. Hands the more tape you,
- 14:26Speaker 2: watch you see enough lateral quickness and coordination with his
- 14:30Speaker 2: calculated hand usage to be an effective. Rusher but he's
- 14:33Speaker 2: not a pure edge in the sense just put him out, there,
- 14:36Speaker 2: man and watch this guy. Go you, know he's not that,
- 14:39Speaker 2: guy the guy he reminded me of. Stylistically, OKAY i
- 14:44Speaker 2: hope people understand they've listened to me enough to know
- 14:47Speaker 2: that WHEN i make these, comparisons they're not off an
- 14:49Speaker 2: Exact watching, HIM i ended up thinking Of Bill belichick
- 14:54Speaker 2: and the way that he Deployed Richard seymour.
- 14:56Speaker 4: Back in the.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Day, now Obviously seymour's A hall Of famer and a great.
- 14:59Speaker 2: Place so AS i, said it's not apples to apples
- 15:02Speaker 2: with the, Player but you, Know seymour was what he
- 15:06Speaker 2: might have weighed over three hundred and. Five, yeah But
- 15:09Speaker 2: falk at six six to seventy, SIX i almost feel
- 15:13Speaker 2: like he's that kind of. Player then you can line
- 15:16Speaker 2: him up in multiple positions and power is his game
- 15:21Speaker 2: and he's not a, pure pure edge in my view, anyway.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Would you would? You how would you? Compare because that
- 15:27Speaker 1: size stood out to, me AND i guess just from
- 15:30Speaker 1: what we, DO i immediately thought of like A jail
- 15:32Speaker 1: And phillips type of edge with that that.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Length he's not as he's not as juicy As. Phillips.
- 15:38Speaker 2: THIS i, mean this kid's not slow and. PLOTTING i
- 15:41Speaker 2: don't get me, wrong but he's not sudden and. Twitchy
- 15:44Speaker 2: that's not really his.
- 15:45Speaker 3: Game, So, greg WHAT i recall from watching tape in
- 15:50Speaker 3: the mid two thousands of view And jaws On Richard, seymour,
- 15:53Speaker 3: fact you guys should point this. Out you would, say
- 15:55Speaker 3: watch him as they too gap, here watch him take
- 15:57Speaker 3: on right two blocker and it was really impressive the
- 16:02Speaker 3: way That seymour would do it because he.
- 16:03Speaker 4: Had a great. LENGTH.
- 16:04Speaker 3: Yep now Was seymour because again they were thirty, four
- 16:09Speaker 3: he was a was he a five?
- 16:11Speaker 4: TECHNIQUE i know he can move around.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Well he played both THE n AND d tackle Because,
- 16:14Speaker 2: belichick you, know was a big guy multiple.
- 16:17Speaker 4: FRONTS i, mean he didn't find up at one.
- 16:19Speaker 3: Front you see how good of a pass rusher Was
- 16:21Speaker 3: seymour that you recall good but not.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Like and oh my, god you know you know What i'm.
- 16:27Speaker 2: SAYING i mean you think of him as as a you,
- 16:30Speaker 2: know true edge pass. RUSHING i mean obviously you, know,
- 16:35Speaker 2: look the guy's A hall Of, Famer So i'm not
- 16:37Speaker 2: going to sit here and tell you that he wasn't really.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Good BUT i mean if you look at his sack
- 16:41Speaker 2: totals through his, career the most Sacks Richard seymour had
- 16:44Speaker 2: in any one season was. Eight and he's A hall Of, famer.
- 16:48Speaker 4: Right, yeah, right, ye all, Right.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Greg you, know the last few, years we would come
- 16:54Speaker 1: across a prospect at this position where you just wouldn't
- 16:58Speaker 1: be sure at THE nfl level where he would best be.
- 17:01Speaker 1: USED i think About Nolan, smith where you weren't sure
- 17:04Speaker 1: coming out would he be an, edge would he be an?
- 17:06Speaker 1: LINEBACKER i Think Jalen walker was the guy last year
- 17:10Speaker 1: to fit that. Bill and here we have Rvel res
- 17:12Speaker 1: out Of Ohio state who has a lot of very interesting,
- 17:16Speaker 1: qualities AND i wonder if you have the same kind
- 17:18Speaker 1: of thoughts on exactly WHAT nfl teams will do with.
- 17:22Speaker 2: Him, Well olive Bel reech is another guy that different
- 17:24Speaker 2: people are gonna have different points of, view and there's
- 17:26Speaker 2: no right or.
- 17:26Speaker 4: WRONG i, MEAN I i.
- 17:30Speaker 2: See him down the, road, okay and again he was
- 17:33Speaker 2: six' four one at the combine two.
- 17:36Speaker 4: Forty one is, you know.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's not necessarily what you want as let's say a
- 17:42Speaker 2: four to three d n but he certainly could be
- 17:44Speaker 2: a five to two outside backer and obviously he played
- 17:47Speaker 2: Stackedbacker At. Ohio STATE but i just LOVED what i
- 17:51Speaker 2: saw from him rushing. THE quarterback i think that there's
- 17:56Speaker 2: so much there to cultivate. And develop And again i'm
- 17:59Speaker 2: not gonna say sit here and Say He's micah, parsons
- 18:02Speaker 2: exactly but he had some rushes with just sheer power
- 18:07Speaker 2: and the way he used the one arm stab AND that, I,
- 18:09Speaker 2: thought wow this guy just has that feel. To, me
- 18:13Speaker 2: now is that the way he's going to come into
- 18:17Speaker 2: the league or will teams put him.
- 18:19Speaker 4: At at stacked?
- 18:20Speaker 2: Linebacker initially, you know which obviously if you look at
- 18:24Speaker 2: what he Did At ohio state. Last year he played
- 18:26Speaker 2: almost an equal number of snaps at stackbacker and on,
- 18:30Speaker 2: the edge and so he's obviously got a lot of
- 18:32Speaker 2: experience in a pro style defense because It Was, matt
- 18:36Speaker 2: patricia who has some as people, probably Know Was bill
- 18:39Speaker 2: belichick's defensive coordinator for Years In new england and then
- 18:42Speaker 2: he was the head Coach with alliance for a number.
- 18:44Speaker 2: Of years so it was a it was a pro
- 18:47Speaker 2: style approach.
- 18:48Speaker 4: To defense.
- 18:51Speaker 2: So the, question is, you know early in, his career
- 18:53Speaker 2: as he sort, of learning could he best be deployed
- 18:56Speaker 2: as a weak side stacked linebacker in a seam that
- 18:59Speaker 2: essentially allows him to run and chase and hit and
- 19:02Speaker 2: play sidelines to sideline kind of a bigger version of
- 19:05Speaker 2: let's say Someone Like eddrian cooper when he came OUT
- 19:08Speaker 2: of A. And M because cooper's under, two thirty but
- 19:10Speaker 2: he's kind of that run and. Chase player or do
- 19:13Speaker 2: you immediately put him on the edge and let him
- 19:15Speaker 2: develop as a pass rusher with the kind of explosive
- 19:18Speaker 2: power and heavy hands that defines, You Know, MICHAH parsons,
- 19:22Speaker 2: i mean because don't forget you could Also use reese as.
- 19:25Speaker 2: A joker he's. That guy so, YOU know i don't
- 19:30Speaker 2: have a definitive answer, For, that JEFF because i think every,
- 19:33Speaker 2: you know different people are gonna see. Him differently but
- 19:36Speaker 2: the bottom LINE is i came away from his, tape
- 19:39Speaker 2: thinking this guy's. A, freak yeah and, you know and
- 19:43Speaker 2: he's twenty years OLD and i heard he's a he's
- 19:45Speaker 2: a really good. Young man, you know there's no issues with.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Him whatsoever he. Went through, you Know It's ted, Ginns's,
- 19:50Speaker 2: dad ted, you Know, in cleveland that's where he went to,
- 19:54Speaker 2: high school and you know that he's a good kid and,
- 19:56Speaker 2: all that and there's so much there in.
- 19:59Speaker 4: His.
- 19:59Speaker 1: Body adam we used to joke about these players on
- 20:03Speaker 1: offense coming out who were like really, athletic quarterbacks but
- 20:06Speaker 1: they were gonna play Like A denard robinson the. Offensive
- 20:09Speaker 1: weapon remember the ow.
- 20:10Speaker 4: Oh, right right. Right right we may just have.
- 20:12Speaker 1: To start coming up with like d w, you know
- 20:15Speaker 1: like defensive because there are this is now the third
- 20:18Speaker 1: or fourth or fifth year in a row where there's
- 20:20Speaker 1: at least been one prospect where he kind of you
- 20:24Speaker 1: can move. Him fits you're not exactly sure where the
- 20:26Speaker 1: best of his football is going.
- 20:28Speaker 3: To, be Played, AND greg i wonder because, you know
- 20:30Speaker 3: you were telling us last Year With, travis HUNTER and
- 20:32Speaker 3: i still agree, with this and OTHER coaches i spoke
- 20:34Speaker 3: with said the. Same thing at, some point you guys
- 20:36Speaker 3: gotta play.
- 20:36Speaker 4: One, POSITION yeah i just.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Wonder early on do they pick they do they work
- 20:41Speaker 3: him in practice at both, or like you, know what
- 20:44Speaker 3: he's this and.
- 20:45Speaker 2: That's it the one advantage, he has WHICH and i
- 20:48Speaker 2: always talk, About, that hey.
- 20:49Speaker 4: When you start your your your rookie mini.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Camps or OTAs whatever they, call it the, rookie stuff
- 20:53Speaker 2: you got to put him in. One spot but he
- 20:56Speaker 2: just came from Playing With, matt patricia so he's got
- 20:59Speaker 2: A very he's he's got a more advanced and refined
- 21:01Speaker 2: feel for doing multiple things because It Was matt patricia's
- 21:05Speaker 2: BASICALLY an, Nfl coach so he has that advantage coming into.
- 21:08Speaker 4: The, league greg the next.
- 21:11Speaker 3: Guy we're going to talk about is put Up he,
- 21:15Speaker 3: cashi's house put up big numbers where there is a,
- 21:17Speaker 3: ball green but Specifically AT texas A And m what
- 21:19Speaker 3: are your thoughts on?
- 21:20Speaker 4: This, guy well that gets into the arm.
- 21:22Speaker 2: Length issue, HE'S smaller i know because his arm length is.
- 21:25Speaker 4: REALLY small i know, you know so.
- 21:27Speaker 2: You know And again i'm not going to sit here
- 21:29Speaker 2: and say there ARE teams i won't even have him on.
- 21:31Speaker 2: THEIR board i would never say THAT because i don't.
- 21:33Speaker 2: Know THAT but i mean there will be clearly teams
- 21:36Speaker 2: that see that as a.
- 21:38Speaker 4: Major issue a.
- 21:39Speaker 2: Major issue, BUT look i remember last Summer WATCHING texas
- 21:44Speaker 2: A and m when they had those those three other,
- 21:46Speaker 2: d LINEMEN and i remember coming, Away, thinking god the
- 21:48Speaker 2: most explosive guy on their Front Is. Casius howell and
- 21:51Speaker 2: then OF course i watched him this year and, you
- 21:54Speaker 2: know this Guy is he's, got athleticism he's got, natural
- 21:58Speaker 2: quickness he's, got suddenness. AN explosiveness, i mean he has
- 22:02Speaker 2: dynamic traits as an edge, pass rusher a really explosive
- 22:06Speaker 2: first step to the high side that immediately challenges the
- 22:09Speaker 2: technique of, offensive tackles, great balance great, body control another
- 22:13Speaker 2: example of a guy that can that has the flexibility
- 22:17Speaker 2: to flatten his, rush path really can. DO that i
- 22:21Speaker 2: thought he had inside counters that were.
- 22:23Speaker 4: Really good an.
- 22:24Speaker 2: Explosive inside spin move he can he crossed the face
- 22:28Speaker 2: of offensive tackles and gain. LEVERAGE inside i really thought
- 22:32Speaker 2: that this guy was a really good, pass rusher and
- 22:37Speaker 2: he was really good in stunts as a looper because
- 22:40Speaker 2: of that quickness and the bend and the. Closing burst
- 22:44Speaker 2: now he'd have to be if you're thinking of playing
- 22:46Speaker 2: him in your, base defense he'd have to be an
- 22:49Speaker 2: outside backer on a five. To two he's not a
- 22:52Speaker 2: four to THREE d nd.
- 22:54Speaker 1: There Are so i'm trying to think. At him how
- 22:56Speaker 1: many teams actually play a four to three? Base anymore
- 23:00Speaker 1: and it's it's a really, diminishing number. YOU know i
- 23:03Speaker 1: think that helps these guys is that a lot of
- 23:05Speaker 1: teams are now playing whether you want to call it
- 23:07Speaker 1: fangio or just a three four where you're USING the
- 23:10Speaker 1: olb in. That, situation well.
- 23:12Speaker 4: This guy. SEE it i want to find.
- 23:15Speaker 3: THIS out i got to figure out how club see
- 23:18Speaker 3: this guy because the arm left is, so short but
- 23:21Speaker 3: he's so explosive. On tape how do you free? Him
- 23:23Speaker 3: up because you gotta line.
- 23:24Speaker 4: Him up.
- 23:25Speaker 3: You can't he's not gonna be able to engage with
- 23:27Speaker 3: a guy with a left tackle six' five right and
- 23:31Speaker 3: three point fifty with thirty four and a. Half inch
- 23:33Speaker 3: arms that's not. Going to happen so how do you
- 23:36Speaker 3: deploy This Guy's fast because greg was. Talking about it
- 23:38Speaker 3: he's watching tape last summer and He goes and greg
- 23:41Speaker 3: probably didn't know what his, arm left was but he's
- 23:43Speaker 3: just going by the tape that, got super explosive.
- 23:46Speaker 2: And he, will you know he worked out with the
- 23:47Speaker 2: d Lineman. At THE combine so i mean he's six
- 23:50Speaker 2: two and a half, two fifty. Three you, know to
- 23:54Speaker 2: me even though two fifty three, IS not.
- 23:56Speaker 4: LIGHT i don't.
- 23:58Speaker 2: I DON'T know it's i just don't see him as
- 24:00Speaker 2: a base.
- 24:01Speaker 4: Four to three d n but.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Maybe others do, but but again his arm length is
- 24:05Speaker 2: thirty four is thirty, and a, quarter you know and that's.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Really really difficult that's gonna.
- 24:11Speaker 3: Be.
- 24:11Speaker 1: An issue, Yep, all right greg LET'S talk about i
- 24:14Speaker 1: Think You mentioned nick ponito earlier. In the show right
- 24:16Speaker 1: he Came, out of oklahoma, Did, he not.
- 24:18Speaker 4: Yes he did let's Talk about.
- 24:20Speaker 1: ANOTHER Oklahoma Kid r thomas mason a GREAT Name Or
- 24:24Speaker 1: r Mason Thomas or mason thomas, great great, name right,
- 24:27Speaker 1: there another, exploday another undersized explosive GUY.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Who again i did last summer and felt the same.
- 24:34Speaker 2: WAY about, Him, i thought wow this this guy is
- 24:36Speaker 2: going to be a guy to watch now he's six
- 24:38Speaker 2: to two in a quarter and only. Two forty, one
- 24:41Speaker 2: you know does does he fall kind Of Into the?
- 24:45Speaker 2: NOLAN smith category i think he's a better Pass Rusher
- 24:48Speaker 2: than nolan, Smith for sure but he's a guy that
- 24:52Speaker 2: has explosive burst. Off, the edge boy he's. GOT vertical
- 24:55Speaker 2: juice i mean when he comes off the edge vertically
- 24:57Speaker 2: to attack the outside shoulder, OF the tackle i mean it.
- 25:00Speaker 2: SHOWS up immediately i mean he's got that, explosive first
- 25:03Speaker 2: step he's got. That accelerating speed he's got fluid. Bend
- 25:07Speaker 2: and burst he can flatten. HIS rush, path i mean
- 25:11Speaker 2: you know this guy is he showed when, he was
- 25:14Speaker 2: wide he showed flashes of being able to do some
- 25:17Speaker 2: speed to power because being, two forty one he needs.
- 25:20Speaker 2: To generate velocity he needs to. Have a runway that's the.
- 25:23Speaker 2: Term we use he needs a runway to generate velocity
- 25:27Speaker 2: and speed to really be a speed. To power guy
- 25:29Speaker 2: like he's not going to win a quick handfight, hand
- 25:33Speaker 2: fighting competition but you know another guy with a. Ton
- 25:36Speaker 2: of juice you, know the, question you know with, all
- 25:40Speaker 2: these guys not all the question is when they come,
- 25:44Speaker 2: into the league they're probably going to start out guys
- 25:47Speaker 2: as as. Sub front players you know a lot, of these,
- 25:50Speaker 2: guys you know, with Few exceptions maybe falk because of his,
- 25:54Speaker 2: just immense size but a lot of these guys are
- 25:56Speaker 2: going to be.
- 25:57Speaker 4: Sub front players to.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Start their career They're not necessar they're only going to
- 26:00Speaker 2: be full time base defense players who play sixty five seventy.
- 26:04Speaker 4: Snaps A game and i think that's.
- 26:06Speaker 2: Important to recognize They're not, buss you know if you
- 26:09Speaker 2: draft one of, these Guys High, Even David bally david
- 26:12Speaker 2: belly might not play every snap and that doesn't mean
- 26:14Speaker 2: he's a bus because he's not out there. For seventy,
- 26:16Speaker 2: snaps you know it's it's they, have a specific really.
- 26:22Speaker 2: Well defined, trade you know they can rush the quarterback
- 26:26Speaker 2: and then they've got to figure out the rest because
- 26:28Speaker 2: they're going to be going against way better offensive tackles
- 26:32Speaker 2: than they.
- 26:32Speaker 4: Did, in college. Yeah.
- 26:34Speaker 3: No doubt greg the next guy had a. Phenomenal combine WORKOUT.
- 26:38Speaker 4: That's t J. Parker from clemson what are your? Thoughts,
- 26:40Speaker 4: on him.
- 26:41Speaker 2: Yeah HE'S a guy i watched, last summer too because he,
- 26:44Speaker 2: was a big big time recruit when. HE came, out
- 26:46Speaker 2: i mean he was like a top fifty guy in
- 26:47Speaker 2: the country and he ended Up. GOING to clemson i
- 26:50Speaker 2: think He was from alabama and he Got out of
- 26:52Speaker 2: alabama and He, went to clemson, and he's see he's
- 26:56Speaker 2: a little different guy because he's close to six' four
- 26:58Speaker 2: and two. Sixty three, to me, to me you know
- 27:03Speaker 2: could someone see him as an outside backer in A
- 27:05Speaker 2: five to two i think he's.
- 27:07Speaker 4: A FOUR to, three D n personally.
- 27:10Speaker 2: And i think he fits that role because he's not
- 27:13Speaker 2: sudden and explosive the way we spoke about the other,
- 27:15Speaker 2: guys BECAUSE he's bigger but i think he knows how.
- 27:18Speaker 2: TO rush, the quarterback, i think you know you've heard
- 27:22Speaker 2: me talk numerous times that IF you're a d nd
- 27:26Speaker 2: and a, bigger guy like this that you have to
- 27:29Speaker 2: learn and understand. How TO playoff contact And I always
- 27:32Speaker 2: use nick bosa as sort, of the prime example and
- 27:35Speaker 2: people can probably visualize that where he sort of proactively
- 27:39Speaker 2: attacks the tackle and then through hand usage and just,
- 27:42Speaker 2: short area of quickness he. Plays off that contact parker.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Is good at that he's got a, good feel for
- 27:49Speaker 2: that he knows how, to place his hands he. Uses
- 27:53Speaker 2: his arms well now his arm arm, length is not
- 27:56Speaker 2: ridiculous it's. Thirty three and eighth but he knows how
- 27:59Speaker 2: to use arm extension to drive back offensive tackles and.
- 28:03Speaker 2: Keep HIS legs, clean so, i, think you know again
- 28:08Speaker 2: you get caught up in g is you're gonna get.
- 28:10Speaker 2: Fifteen or sixteen sacks no, one, Can ANSWER that obviously
- 28:14Speaker 2: but i think this kid is. A really solid prospect
- 28:18Speaker 2: my guess is he'll not, be a first rounder but
- 28:21Speaker 2: it wouldn't surprise me if down the road he's just
- 28:24Speaker 2: a quality defensive end in a four to three who
- 28:28Speaker 2: is more, than capable, of playing you know, pretty much,
- 28:31Speaker 2: every snap you know as being a guy that can
- 28:33Speaker 2: play in your base defense and be a.
- 28:36Speaker 4: PASS rusher, as.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Well i Mean the athleticism that adam. MENTIONED was, really
- 28:41Speaker 1: good i mean he had. A very good combine you
- 28:43Speaker 1: wonder if that helps him kind of adjust easier than
- 28:46Speaker 1: some of the guys who are lesser athletes but don't
- 28:49Speaker 1: have the size, or the you know that have, more
- 28:52Speaker 1: of the refinement.
- 28:53Speaker 4: But, THEY'RE lesser, athletes yeah i mean, YOU know, this
- 28:56Speaker 4: guy i mean he played thirty.
- 28:58Speaker 2: Nine games in college he had, a lot, OF excess.
- 29:02Speaker 4: You KNOW i think that.
- 29:04Speaker 2: I think his best trade you know as a rusher
- 29:07Speaker 2: is playing off contact. AND working his hands i think.
- 29:11Speaker 2: That's what he is, he's, not that, sudden explosive twitchy
- 29:15Speaker 2: guy but he just knows how. To RUSH the quarterback,
- 29:18Speaker 2: and i you. Know he's a guy you've got to watch.
- 29:21Speaker 2: The guys, like that to me you have to watch
- 29:23Speaker 2: a lot of tape Because you're not gonna you're not
- 29:25Speaker 2: gonna see that, one rush and, go oh my. God look.
- 29:28Speaker 2: At That That's. It like david baily you can look
- 29:30Speaker 2: at a couple of. Rushes and, Go wow you know.
- 29:33Speaker 2: Parker's not that, guy and you know, those guys, TO
- 29:36Speaker 2: me you know i don't, question anybody else's, process but to,
- 29:40Speaker 2: me guys like that you gotta watch a lot of
- 29:42Speaker 2: games because he's. Not gonna wow you but you you,
- 29:45Speaker 2: then come away going this guy's. Pretty good football player
- 29:48Speaker 2: this guy's got a lot OF good trades. That i
- 29:49Speaker 2: believe translate, they're just not, like oh. My god, wow
- 29:52Speaker 2: trades you know he's not gonna do. The three sixty dunk.
- 29:55Speaker 2: He's not that guy how many.
- 29:58Speaker 1: Can by the, WAY i'm gonna say i think we
- 29:59Speaker 1: can say, that, for, all.
- 30:00Speaker 4: Yes yeah yeah yeah.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Although you, Played the college ball so we don't. Want,
- 30:04Speaker 3: TO sell you well i.
- 30:04Speaker 4: Couldn't quite do that? What was your? Vertical was? YOUR
- 30:08Speaker 4: vertical like five.
- 30:09Speaker 2: I couldn't, TAKE the you know i couldn't take the
- 30:10Speaker 2: dollar bill off the. Top of The Backboarder.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Oh like david thompson for, THOSE of your right.
- 30:15Speaker 4: I remember that one or for people.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Who Are Familiar with new york city basketball back, A Long,
- 30:21Speaker 2: time ago earl manigold?
- 30:23Speaker 3: You know, that, name, oh yeah, yes, YES all right
- 30:26Speaker 3: yes i don't know much.
- 30:27Speaker 4: About. His.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Game though yeah hey, if you're like me you're desensitized
- 30:31Speaker 1: to the dozens of notifications on. Your phone every day
- 30:34Speaker 1: but if that latest ping is, from your security camera ignoring.

- 30:41Speaker 1: home but you're giving a, huge presentation at work or,
- 30:44Speaker 1: you're at the movies or you're thirty thousand feet in the.
- 30:46Speaker 1: Sky on a flight you'll see the footage, in a

- 32:52Speaker 3: To Pronounce jacobs or jackie illinois put. Up really big numbers.
- 32:57Speaker 3: He's got good measurables what were, Your?
- 32:59Speaker 2: Thoughts on him grege Now we Can put gabe jack
- 33:01Speaker 2: there's a couple of guys who to me sort of fit.
- 33:04Speaker 2: Into the same box remember we started this conversation by
- 33:07Speaker 2: talking about guys that are, that are edge players but
- 33:10Speaker 2: not necessarily. JUST unbelievable edge rushers. I think You're Deal
- 33:15Speaker 2: i think gabe jackets. FALLS into That category I, Think
- 33:20Speaker 2: young From zion young from missouri. FALLS into that category
- 33:26Speaker 2: i think you're dealing with guys that are their games.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Built on power, physicality they're not, twitchy they're not sudden they're.
- 33:34Speaker 2: NOT great pass rushers, a great, example is you know,
- 33:39Speaker 2: people are gonna say what? Are you talking about jack
- 33:41Speaker 2: has led the big. Ten, In in sacks well i've seen.
- 33:43Speaker 2: Some of those sacks one was where the quarterback ran
- 33:47Speaker 2: out of bounds and he. Was the closest guy one
- 33:50Speaker 2: was where no one blocked him because. They blew, the
- 33:52Speaker 2: protection you know you got. TO watch the plays i say.
- 33:54Speaker 2: That all the time you got. To watch, the plays
- 33:57Speaker 2: You know So so young and jack is to me
- 34:00Speaker 2: kind of fall. Into that, same category you know of
- 34:04Speaker 2: they're they're.
- 34:04Speaker 4: THEY'RE to Me there i.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Guess jack as could be seen as an outside backer in,
- 34:09Speaker 2: a Five to two. But young certainly not he's a FOUR.
- 34:13Speaker 2: To three d, n they're solid players but they're not guys,
- 34:17Speaker 2: you draft to say that's my. Guy rushing, the quarterback,
- 34:21Speaker 2: they're just you know they're just sort of prototypical FOUR to.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Three d n types so if you're a team greg
- 34:27Speaker 1: like you're a four to three team and, you're just
- 34:29Speaker 1: you know you're. Looking for good debth you're looking for
- 34:31Speaker 1: run down defensive lineman before you get. Into your sub
- 34:34Speaker 1: packages is, a guy Like? Game?
- 34:38Speaker 6: Is?
- 34:38Speaker 1: It Jackus yeah yeah is does he fit that? Criteria,
- 34:42Speaker 1: THEN for you yeah i.
- 34:43Speaker 2: THINK he Fits That i think. Zion young, fits that,
- 34:46Speaker 2: you know, these guys to me. That's who, They are
- 34:49Speaker 2: now again i'm not gonna sit here and say they're
- 34:51Speaker 2: never going to rush the quarterback and they're Gonna get
- 34:53Speaker 2: one sat. That's not my point but my point is
- 34:56Speaker 2: they're not explosive edge. Players that, you draft YOU KNOW
- 35:00Speaker 2: it's the ajf andesa conversation that we. Had to start
- 35:03Speaker 2: This you know, that adam brought up which was a great.
- 35:06Speaker 2: Guy to bring up he sort. Of FITS that exactly
- 35:09Speaker 2: and i think, that these, guys are you. KNOW more
- 35:12Speaker 2: Like that i think jackus maybe can develop more into
- 35:16Speaker 2: a true pass. Rusher down the road, And but you
- 35:19Speaker 2: know young IS just a physical.
- 35:20Speaker 4: I mean because.
- 35:21Speaker 2: He's A big, dude the missouri guy he's another guy.
- 35:24Speaker 2: THAT'S a big dude i mean he's six five and three.
- 35:26Speaker 2: QUARTERS two, sixty two i mean but he's, he's not
- 35:30Speaker 2: a sudden twitchy edge athlete who has, higher level bend
- 35:33Speaker 2: inflexibility so he wins as a pass rusher when he
- 35:36Speaker 2: does win with methodical, power and hand placement and then
- 35:40Speaker 2: you have to decide, as you evaluate him is that
- 35:43Speaker 2: going to happen WITH consistency against. Better, nfl offensive tackles. Well,
- 35:49Speaker 2: it happens sometimes sure it's not as if it's. Never
- 35:52Speaker 2: going to happen but is that the way? He's going,
- 35:55Speaker 2: to get you know, fourteen sacks, my inclination you. Know
- 35:59Speaker 2: studying his Tape is it won't it? Won't, happen like?
- 36:01Speaker 1: That greg last one did You Happen? TO see, malachi, Lawrence.
- 36:07Speaker 2: I did Okay And. I, Like Malachi lawrence now malachi,
- 36:11Speaker 2: lawrence has some, juice he's got moves he's he was a,
- 36:14Speaker 2: fascinating guy. To watch you know as again, AS a
- 36:17Speaker 2: pass rusher i.
- 36:18Speaker 4: Think he's better than.
- 36:19Speaker 2: Jackis and, AND young you know i think you're Dealing
- 36:23Speaker 2: see now watching, and by the way, he's got good,
- 36:26Speaker 2: size good. Arm length major wingspan really, As, you probably
- 36:30Speaker 2: know jeff you might even have it. In front of
- 36:32Speaker 2: you whose athletic testing. Measurables were really good that's why
- 36:36Speaker 2: four or five two we had, a forty inch vertical
- 36:38Speaker 2: which for a guy who's six' four plus and two fifty. Three,
- 36:42Speaker 2: is really, really good so you know the guy he
- 36:46Speaker 2: kind OF reminded me, of WHEN i watched him and
- 36:50Speaker 2: i think this guy was was a first Round Pick
- 36:53Speaker 2: Last year was nick scourdon you remember Him, coming, out
- 36:56Speaker 2: of so.
- 36:57Speaker 1: Yeah yeah he went High. Second round, to, the panthers.
- 37:00Speaker 4: Believe RIGHT right Right Right.
- 37:02Speaker 2: BUT i, like malachi lawrence i mean he's he showed some.
- 37:05Speaker 2: Knockback power in, His hands he's he could he's got.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Athleticism to stop and redirect he made. Plays in the
- 37:12Speaker 2: run game he had a really. Good club arm over.
- 37:16Speaker 2: Move as a, pass rusher he had, balance he had
- 37:19Speaker 2: body control, he could burst, with speed he could. CLOSE
- 37:22Speaker 2: he had some, bend i mean to me this guy
- 37:26Speaker 2: HAS pass, rush traits, that i think you know can
- 37:29Speaker 2: transition to the league more pass rush, traits in my
- 37:32Speaker 2: view anyway. Based on my tape study then let's say young.
- 37:35Speaker 1: And jacis great good stuff before, we get out of
- 37:41Speaker 1: here were there any other guys that you want to
- 37:44Speaker 1: talk about. That we, Didn't bring up go Ahead there's TWO.
- 37:46Speaker 2: Guys from michigan who I Find, really really intriguing derek
- 37:49Speaker 2: moore who is more to me a four To three
- 37:51Speaker 2: d end and i've done him for two years and, You're.
- 37:54Speaker 2: PROBABLY familiar with him jeff i really. LIKE his tape
- 37:57Speaker 2: a lot i think that he. Could be a really
- 38:00Speaker 2: pro And, the Other kid, Is Barhm, the michigan kid
- 38:03Speaker 2: jayshawn barum who was a stackbacker in twenty twenty four
- 38:07Speaker 2: and they moved. Him to edge this year. And it's,
- 38:09Speaker 2: in his body. You know he's gonna learn he's he's
- 38:12Speaker 2: be a five to, two outside backer for sure and,
- 38:15Speaker 2: he's but. He's an explosive twitchy athlete and again he may,
- 38:20Speaker 2: not be, ready to, go you know day. ONE but,
- 38:23Speaker 2: it is there i, mean this, kid is sudden he's
- 38:26Speaker 2: explosive and, again not knowing, the player but you know
- 38:30Speaker 2: if he's willing, to be coached and learn there's something
- 38:33Speaker 2: there for this. Kid to, END up being you know
- 38:37Speaker 2: i Don't Want, to say he's nick benito but you
- 38:39Speaker 2: know it's. That kind of body type Not, quite as tall,
- 38:41Speaker 2: as benito but you know that kind. Of explosiveness, off the,
- 38:44Speaker 2: edge good, stuff.
- 38:47Speaker 1: All right all right that is a good. LOOK at
- 38:51Speaker 1: the edge prospects. A lot of different guys a lot
- 38:53Speaker 1: of guys can. Fulfill different, kind of responsibilities it's great but.
- 38:57Speaker 2: That's the bottom line point, i'm glad you reiterated that because.
- 39:00Speaker 4: That's the bottom line point you have to understand what.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Kind of.
- 39:03Speaker 4: Player, You're drafting you know here. I'll give.
- 39:05Speaker 2: You an, example EAGLES fans let's say and i don't
- 39:08Speaker 2: even know who, they Like or don't like so i'm.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Just throwing a n In Let's.
- 39:10Speaker 2: Say they draft zion young You Got to understand that
- 39:13Speaker 2: zion young is not going to, come in and you
- 39:15Speaker 2: Know And, And be like miles garrett he's not going,
- 39:17Speaker 2: to come in and well we just solved our. Edge pass,
- 39:19Speaker 2: for our situation you know you got to understand what
- 39:22Speaker 2: the player.
- 39:22Speaker 4: Is when you draft him.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Our teams will understand that i'm saying.
- 39:26Speaker 4: Fans, need, to understand?
- 39:27Speaker 1: That Sure sure all Right For. Greg Co Selling, adam
- 39:31Speaker 1: capitol i'm jeff Mosher And you've Been Watching the intel
- 39:35Speaker 1: with Greg cosell on inside the birds
