Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett.
- 0:05Speaker 2: All right, Well, in addition to having Ryan Pagano on
- 0:08Speaker 2: earlier today, I knew I wanted to break some news
- 0:10Speaker 2: for you. And firstly, as I called it, Trump started
- 0:17Speaker 2: this whole thing with Iran killed the Supreme Leader because
- 0:22Speaker 2: of uranium. When the Iranians came to the table and
- 0:26Speaker 2: said we have a lot of uranium we can use.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Of course, that fueled Trump and Wickoff to do something
- 0:33Speaker 2: about it before they had a threat. Now there's talks
- 0:37Speaker 2: to put troops on the ground. I need to be
- 0:39Speaker 2: very clear about this at one leg of Alex media,
- 0:42Speaker 2: very clear. There are no troops on the ground yet.
- 0:45Speaker 2: These are only reports of pending troops. But if they
- 0:49Speaker 2: go in and get the uranium, it will be a
- 0:51Speaker 2: mission of a lifetime that I think we should all,
- 0:55Speaker 2: you know, maybe support if we can get rid of
- 0:58Speaker 2: their uranium. And Richmond, and there are Uranian Rerichmond programs.
- 1:03Speaker 1: I'm for that. This also comes on theyels of ten
- 1:06Speaker 1: service members being killed.
- 1:09Speaker 2: By an Iranian tech on a base I believe in
- 1:12Speaker 2: Saudi Arabia.
- 1:12Speaker 1: But that's that's why war is.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Hell, and why this is a war, and why I'm
- 1:18Speaker 2: afraid of ground troops. But if they can do it
- 1:20Speaker 2: precisely and get us the frick out of there, I
- 1:24Speaker 2: want to say the fuck out of.
- 1:25Speaker 1: There because I canker us on this podcast. Then get
- 1:28Speaker 1: to the fuck out of there. I'll be happier. But then,
- 1:32Speaker 1: on top of all this, here in this city.
- 1:36Speaker 2: It's got the most ridiculous news article that is almost
- 1:41Speaker 2: like a wolf in sheep's clothing moments. Mom Donnie, Yes, Mayor,
- 1:46Speaker 2: Mom Donnie is attending a post modern passover Satyr with
- 1:54Speaker 2: Don Lemon and a drag queen rabbi, as Andrew Stalles
- 2:01Speaker 2: writes in The Jerusalem Free In the Washington Free Beacon, sorry,
- 2:04Speaker 2: Washington Free Beacon, zoramm Donnie is struggling to dis himself
- 2:07Speaker 2: from a variety of anti Semitism scandals. By the way,
- 2:11Speaker 2: some of those No King's protesters were also protesting vile
- 2:16Speaker 2: uh slogan, saying vow slogans about Jews and antafada. Tonight,
- 2:27Speaker 2: the New York City Mayor is expecting to attend to
- 2:29Speaker 2: pass Over Satyr with Don Lemon. You know, he's a
- 2:33Speaker 2: real religious guy, storming into a church.
- 2:37Speaker 1: And protesting a church and.
- 2:40Speaker 2: A drag queen rabbi devoted to fighting the patriarchy.
- 2:45Speaker 1: This is his idea of being with the Jewish people.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Isn't that insane? Or do I sound insane? Because here's a.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Mayor who says, with the Jewish brothers and sisters, Well,
- 2:58Speaker 2: go have a sayer with.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Jewish brothers and sisters.
- 3:04Speaker 2: Not Don Lemon, and not a drag queen rabbit. This
- 3:10Speaker 2: is hysterical. This is the Washington Free Beacon. This isn't
- 3:13Speaker 2: the Babylon b we're talking about. Get this, Ryan Don
- 3:19Speaker 2: Lemon will chant the traditional four questions at the Sadar,
- 3:22Speaker 2: a task typically aside to the youngest capable child, and
- 3:28Speaker 2: will perform the ritual with a special orientation based on
- 3:32Speaker 2: his arrest a few weeks ago protecting freedom of expression.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I can't hold back. This is the most ridiculous thing
- 3:39Speaker 1: I've ever heard. This is the mayor trying to be
- 3:42Speaker 1: part of the Jewish community. Look, he's trying to be
- 3:47Speaker 1: a nice guy.
- 3:47Speaker 2: He's trying to be personal, personable, he's trying to be
- 3:50Speaker 2: like smiling everything away. But this kind of situation is
- 3:54Speaker 2: an insult to Jewish people.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I have sat through satyrs that are four hours long.
- 4:02Speaker 2: As the youngest kid, by the way, and now now
- 4:09Speaker 2: he's going to basically make a mockery of the Passover Satyr,
- 4:12Speaker 2: which by the way falls on the.
- 4:13Speaker 1: Same week as Easter.
- 4:15Speaker 2: So yes, that last Supper on Thursday coincides with the
- 4:19Speaker 2: third night of Passover. And of course we all know
- 4:22Speaker 2: the Last Supper was the last unfortunately the last Passover
- 4:28Speaker 2: for Christ before he was betrayed by Judas. And the
- 4:31Speaker 2: rest is history, which leads to a good Friday. But
- 4:40Speaker 2: I just am so incensed that his idea of connecting
- 4:46Speaker 2: with the Jewish people is by having a say it
- 4:49Speaker 2: with Don Levin?
- 4:50Speaker 1: Is that not insane?
- 4:51Speaker 3: But it also just is so confusing, just in the
- 4:54Speaker 3: sense that And I'm gonna apologize in advance for being
- 4:57Speaker 3: very blunt here, but who the fuck asked for Don Lemming?
- 5:02Speaker 3: Don't be a to be a part of a Passover
- 5:05Speaker 3: sayor nobody asked for this? And really, when was the
- 5:10Speaker 3: last time, Don m it was relevant apart from storming
- 5:13Speaker 3: into a church a couple of weeks ago and getting arrestled.
- 5:15Speaker 3: And this rabbi go be a part of the Mayor
- 5:19Speaker 3: of New York City's passoverseat.
- 5:21Speaker 2: This Rabbi Amachai Malave is best known for a documentary,
- 5:26Speaker 2: Philip Sabbath Queed twenty twenty four, which follows her epic
- 5:31Speaker 2: journey as a drag queen rebel who challenges patriarchy and supremacy.
- 5:38Speaker 2: It's not known if the Rabbi Alpias himself or has
- 5:41Speaker 2: his drag queen alter ego hadassa gross I'm sorry, this
- 5:46Speaker 2: is not This is not funny. This is a mockery
- 5:49Speaker 2: of actual observations that the Jewish people will do this week.
- 5:54Speaker 3: Like this is something you would see straight out of
- 5:56Speaker 3: an SNL sketch, and I wouldn't fault anybody for thinking that, oh,
- 5:59Speaker 3: this is straight out of a comedy schedule. It was
- 6:03Speaker 3: straight out of the Dinner on Saturday. The name is
- 6:06Speaker 3: really blanking.
- 6:06Speaker 1: On me at this current the Inner Circle dinner.
- 6:09Speaker 3: Yeah, the Inner Circle dinner. Like this is something I
- 6:11Speaker 3: would kind of expect to see at say the Inner
- 6:13Speaker 3: Circle dinner, or maybe on a sketch on SNL, but
- 6:16Speaker 3: or even in the Babylon beat.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I had to break news about this because as someone
- 6:19Speaker 2: with Jewish faith, and as someone who also doesn't go
- 6:23Speaker 2: into a New Testament parmitzvn confirmed. I mean, Passover is
- 6:27Speaker 2: a very serious tradition for the Jewish people. I mean
- 6:32Speaker 2: you cannot even walk into a home without taking off
- 6:34Speaker 2: your shoes for a passover sa.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's it's a very serious tradition, sacred tradition.
- 6:39Speaker 2: At that am, Mom, Donnie is making a mockery of
- 6:42Speaker 2: it by doing this.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Why doesn't he go to.
- 6:45Speaker 2: A synagogue in Brooklyn or Queens or wherever and participate there.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Why doesn't he go to a family that is truly observant.
- 6:56Speaker 2: They should, Actually, this isn't funny. This is a embarrassing.
- 7:00Speaker 2: It's a mockery. It's insulting. And then other guests will
- 7:05Speaker 2: include Terrence Floyd, the brother of George Floyd, Matthew Brissard,
- 7:09Speaker 2: the actor and comedian who played comic to it, Sage Deli,
- 7:12Speaker 2: and the Marvels, Miss masl And this they're calling it
- 7:16Speaker 2: the Downtown Satyr, is on traditional sator, but rather a supplement.
- 7:21Speaker 2: According to the Events City, longtime host City Winery proprietor
- 7:24Speaker 2: Michael Dwarf. One Jewish magazine described it as a half
- 7:31Speaker 2: postmodern religious ritual and half cabaret.
- 7:34Speaker 1: It's not even a real sator. And this is his idea.
- 7:39Speaker 2: Of being with his Jewish brothers and sisters on a
- 7:43Speaker 2: very holy week. Ryan, you were at Mass on Saturday.
- 7:46Speaker 2: You take this week very seriously. My dad and I
- 7:50Speaker 2: took this week very seriously. When my my grandma was around,
- 7:54Speaker 2: we always went to Ayton and we observed Passover. And
- 7:59Speaker 2: I was a kid really can eat back then, but
- 8:00Speaker 2: I would observe all four hours and be.
- 8:03Speaker 1: The youngest kid that asked the questions. I mean, this
- 8:05Speaker 1: is infuriating.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And Sherry we've had on before is observing this week too,
- 8:10Speaker 2: where this is a very serious time and this guy
- 8:13Speaker 2: is out here with Don.
- 8:15Speaker 1: Lemon for a sayor that's not even serious.
- 8:18Speaker 3: Making a mockery out of it.
- 8:19Speaker 1: How does complete mockery?
- 8:21Speaker 2: How do we take him seriously as a mayor if
- 8:24Speaker 2: he doesn't even take the traditions of his.
- 8:29Speaker 1: People, siri of his situents consis seriously. And by the way,
- 8:33Speaker 1: if we went to something a mak Ramadan, we'd be
- 8:35Speaker 1: considered hateful.
- 8:36Speaker 3: Yeah, be haram, and every everybody and their mother would
- 8:40Speaker 3: be canceled for that. And I thought that that Olympics
- 8:46Speaker 3: portrayal of the Last Supper, I forget if this was
- 8:50Speaker 3: in the Winter Olympics this past year, but whatever. It
- 8:53Speaker 3: was the Olympic portrayal of the Last Supper with the
- 8:56Speaker 3: drag queens and all that, which I know made a
- 8:58Speaker 3: lot of have not all good ones at that, you'd
- 9:03Speaker 3: think that was a joke. Back then, portraying the Last
- 9:06Speaker 3: Supper the way they did, you definitely have a whole
- 9:09Speaker 3: other thing coming, because really, what we're normalizing here at
- 9:12Speaker 3: this point, what they're trying to normalize is just making
- 9:15Speaker 3: a complete joke out of religion. And I know if
- 9:19Speaker 3: the shoe was on the other foot, if we were
- 9:20Speaker 3: the ones making fun of Islam Ramadan, that everybody would
- 9:24Speaker 3: be canceled to hell them back. But you know, because
- 9:27Speaker 3: it's Judaism and Christianity, somehow that's okay. Alex, I just
- 9:30Speaker 3: don't understand that one bit. I mean, it's just full
- 9:34Speaker 3: and utter hypocrisy. And look, I have a lot of
- 9:37Speaker 3: Jewish friends as well that I know are going to
- 9:40Speaker 3: be celebrating passovers, some of them are gonna be holding
- 9:43Speaker 3: SATs at that, and not that I can really speak
- 9:46Speaker 3: on this for everybody, but I know at least a
- 9:49Speaker 3: good amount of them would think that this is just
- 9:52Speaker 3: a joke. What is going on in our city politics
- 9:56Speaker 3: and particularly with this mayor and his idea of a passover,
- 10:01Speaker 3: sayor just makes no sense to him.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Now he's apparently attended a Ramadan for all of us
- 10:06Speaker 2: type of thing. I mean, he's he's trying to be
- 10:09Speaker 2: all inclusive, but it's just it's not working.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It's actually falling failing, I should say.
- 10:15Speaker 3: Falling right on deaf years and falling.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Flat on his face. To be honest with him. Oh
- 10:20Speaker 1: and get this, Mam.
- 10:21Speaker 2: Donnie told the city on Friday, this was recently Friday March.
- 10:27Speaker 1: This was a couple of weeks ago. Uh, that was
- 10:29Speaker 1: important to show all New.
- 10:31Speaker 2: Yorkers and to see him fully taking part in Ramadan,
- 10:34Speaker 2: not just Muslims.
- 10:36Speaker 1: But this is a mockery. This is a mockery.
- 10:39Speaker 2: And of course the Saint Patrick's Day disaster where he
- 10:42Speaker 2: compared the immigrants to Saint Pat like CHRISI and Saint Patrick.
- 10:46Speaker 1: What's he thinking? What is he thinking? He's making fun
- 10:50Speaker 1: of Saint Patrick's Day right in front of the cathedral.
- 10:53Speaker 1: If I'm not mistaken, I.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Know words, I really don't put it. It's also not
- 11:00Speaker 3: that surprising that he's really stooping to that level. Now.
- 11:05Speaker 3: I mean, look, granted, Saint Patrick's it's definitely more of
- 11:09Speaker 3: a cultural holiday at this point, but there's still some
- 11:12Speaker 3: significant meaning to the day. But to just disregard that
- 11:17Speaker 3: entirely and just making a mockery now yet again, if
- 11:21Speaker 3: the shoe was on the other foot, if we had
- 11:24Speaker 3: a mayor that was mocking Muslim holidays, that he would
- 11:29Speaker 3: be instantly recalled and canceled to tell him back.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Now, Okay, he did this passover distribution yesterday in Brooklyn,
- 11:36Speaker 2: which is very very amiable, I guess, but then he
- 11:39Speaker 2: goes and does this, and this is this is actually
- 11:43Speaker 2: a true story. It's been reported out not just on
- 11:46Speaker 2: Washington Free Beacon, which is a conservative site, but others
- 11:48Speaker 2: as well.
- 11:49Speaker 3: And.
- 11:51Speaker 2: It's infuriating, so much so Comedian Modi, who's Jewish, pulled
- 11:56Speaker 2: out of the event because Mumdannie was participating. According to
- 11:59Speaker 2: Israel National News, I mean.
- 12:01Speaker 1: This is this should be reported widely.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And as I said a little while ago, and Ryan said,
- 12:07Speaker 2: this would make national news.
- 12:09Speaker 1: If let's say, well.
- 12:12Speaker 3: If Donni was a Republican, it would be the top
- 12:14Speaker 3: story everywhere.
- 12:17Speaker 2: It really would be. And also not only that and
- 12:23Speaker 2: the Muslim band. I guess it's different, but you know,
- 12:25Speaker 2: Trump's gotten hot water with the religious stuff as well.
- 12:30Speaker 1: But he fades more fire. This is hot water to me.
- 12:33Speaker 2: To me, this is hot water when you the mayor
- 12:35Speaker 2: of New York makes fun of Passover by doing this
- 12:39Speaker 2: kind of sator at the downtown, if you want to
- 12:42Speaker 2: call it that, or whatever you want to call it.
- 12:45Speaker 1: It's not a true sator.
- 12:47Speaker 2: It seems very progressive, and it's well, it is very progressive,
- 12:50Speaker 2: and it's very not religious as much, and I think
- 12:54Speaker 2: it's just to fail, and it's insulting to those that
- 12:57Speaker 2: truly observe this beautiful week. I mean, I always think
- 13:01Speaker 2: Holy Week and Easter Sunday are beautiful parts of our
- 13:04Speaker 2: calendar year. I always love when both of them intersect
- 13:07Speaker 2: because they should be, because.
- 13:09Speaker 1: They are intertwined in a lot of ways.
- 13:11Speaker 2: And as someone who has had Judaism in his life
- 13:19Speaker 2: for a long time, and yes the Lutheran side as well,
- 13:24Speaker 2: and who does feel spiritual, this is infuriating.
- 13:28Speaker 1: This isn't real.
- 13:29Speaker 2: This is a fake satyr. I hate to say that.
- 13:32Speaker 2: It just feels so fake.
- 13:33Speaker 1: And this is the way of interacting with the Jewish community.
- 13:36Speaker 2: Do better, Marimum, Donnie, And that's my message on one
- 13:39Speaker 2: like a balx Media
