- 0:27Speaker 1: So that's the word Texas, then your question or comment
- 0:30Speaker 1: to eight one five three zero. Standard messaging and data
- 0:34Speaker 1: rates may apply. We were talking last hour about that
- 0:38Speaker 1: big Arch burger that will one of the McDonald's is
- 0:42Speaker 1: going to bring, and I said, I knows, maybe that's an.
- 0:46Speaker 2: Nil thing, you know, for arch manning in the future.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Somebody asked, so is the big Arch considered a backup
- 0:54Speaker 1: burger now hasn't arrived yet and arrived yet.
- 0:59Speaker 3: That's maybe McDonald's is just waiting till next year when
- 1:04Speaker 3: Arch Banning is the start before they unveil it in America.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Craig g I mean think about it, you know.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's working in Canada and Germany and Portugal. Maybe
- 1:12Speaker 1: it's maybe it'll be coming in soon.
- 1:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Our man CB says, you brought up election day. Today
- 1:19Speaker 1: was the first time I voted as a Washingtonian because
- 1:22Speaker 1: Member CB is in the PNW now Pacific Northwest. The
- 1:26Speaker 1: first president presidential election I voted in since twenty sixteen.
- 1:30Speaker 1: I didn't vote in twenty twenty. My dad had passed
- 1:32Speaker 1: and we were in the process of moving. So good
- 1:33Speaker 1: on UCB. I early voted today.
- 1:36Speaker 2: I did and got through the process.
- 1:41Speaker 1: It was a little bit of a delay that there's
- 1:43Speaker 1: a lot of enthusiasm with the early voting. I just
- 1:45Speaker 1: I wanted to get my ballot done because remember Election Day,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and you haven't to what I guess, Friday to early
- 1:54Speaker 1: vote if you want to, and Election Day we will
- 2:00Speaker 1: have just returned during the late night on a flight
- 2:05Speaker 1: from Las Vegas, landing in the wee hours of the
- 2:07Speaker 1: morning of election Day because we've got the game, the
- 2:11Speaker 1: basketball game coming up next next Monday night in Las Vegas.
- 2:17Speaker 1: So I wanted to make sure I handle my business
- 2:21Speaker 1: in terms of the voting and got that and got that.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Done for them all right. I mentioned.
- 2:29Speaker 1: That we'd had a college football note or two to
- 2:33Speaker 1: pass along, and this is something that we've been doing
- 2:36Speaker 1: every week, so it shouldn't surprise anyone that we're going
- 2:42Speaker 1: to update it again. And it's one week from today.
- 2:45Speaker 1: Not only is one week from to day election day.
- 2:48Speaker 1: As we pointed out, one week from the day is
- 2:51Speaker 1: the first college Football Playoff rankings of the year. Now,
- 2:58Speaker 1: given the fact that the long Wards are not playing
- 3:00Speaker 1: a game this Saturday, they have an open date on
- 3:01Speaker 1: the schedule, I would say it's probably a pretty safe
- 3:06Speaker 1: bet they're in the top five of the College Football
- 3:09Speaker 1: Playoff rankings. When you think caam that they'd probably be
- 3:12Speaker 1: in the top five right now.
- 3:14Speaker 3: I would think they would either be yeah, I would
- 3:16Speaker 3: think they'd be at five directly, I would think the
- 3:18Speaker 3: four or five range.
- 3:19Speaker 2: I'm really curious what they would think.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Well, and remember, and this is going to be something
- 3:25Speaker 1: that folks, I think are going to have to be
- 3:26Speaker 1: constantly reminded of.
- 3:29Speaker 2: And I don't think this is going to be the case.
- 3:31Speaker 1: I'll know for sure because I've got a couple of
- 3:34Speaker 1: questions about how the committee is going to rank the
- 3:37Speaker 1: playoff teams at least early on, and we'll hear from
- 3:41Speaker 1: Rich Clark, who he is the executive director of the
- 3:46Speaker 1: College Football Playoff and He's going to join us on
- 3:49Speaker 1: the show on Thursday, by the way, but Rich is
- 3:55Speaker 1: supposed to explain in a video zoom tomorrow and I'm
- 3:58Speaker 1: in on that to listen to him and explain some
- 4:01Speaker 1: of the process. Here's where I'm going with this. As
- 4:05Speaker 1: we know, the playoff will include, for automatic bid purposes.
- 4:14Speaker 2: The five five, not four, the five.
- 4:19Speaker 1: Highest ranked conference champions, five highest ranked conference champions. It
- 4:26Speaker 1: is assumed that the top four of which who will
- 4:31Speaker 1: get a buye, will all be from power for conferences,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and I think it's a pretty safe assumption. Pretty safe,
- 4:38Speaker 1: so probably the Big ten, the SEC, the ACC, and
- 4:48Speaker 1: the Big twelve would champions.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Would all draw first round bys.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Then five through twelve would be seated after that to
- 4:55Speaker 1: play first round matchups. Five would host twelve, six would
- 4:59Speaker 1: host eleven, seven would host ten, and eight would host nine,
- 5:03Speaker 1: and then the bracket goes out from that.
- 5:04Speaker 2: They do not receive the bracket. What I'm curious to
- 5:08Speaker 2: see is.
- 5:11Speaker 1: How those rankings shake down in that even though we
- 5:18Speaker 1: know that the four top ranked teams, those four highest
- 5:25Speaker 1: ranked conference champions will draw bys, will they vote it
- 5:30Speaker 1: that way in the first rankings next week or are
- 5:33Speaker 1: they just going to go, hey, these are the four
- 5:34Speaker 1: best teams right now, here's where I'm going with this. Obviously,
- 5:38Speaker 1: if Georgia is number two and Texas, to your point,
- 5:42Speaker 1: Cameron winds up being number four, we know that only
- 5:44Speaker 1: one of those is going to be in the top four.
- 5:47Speaker 1: So depending on how it goes and who wins the
- 5:49Speaker 1: SEC championship in Texas, A and M certainly may well
- 5:53Speaker 1: have something to say about that. LSU Tennessee they'll have
- 6:01Speaker 1: good shots as well. So anyway, I'm curious to see
- 6:04Speaker 1: how this shakes down. Despite the fact that only those
- 6:08Speaker 1: four conference champions are gonna draw bys and then the
- 6:11Speaker 1: fifth one probably almost certainly a group.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Of five champion.
- 6:16Speaker 1: A G five conference champion's probably gonna be slotted in
- 6:20Speaker 1: at number twelve because that's in the bylaws there.
- 6:23Speaker 2: They're guaranteed a bid.
- 6:25Speaker 1: But if they're not rated high, it's possible Boise State
- 6:29Speaker 1: could be higher up than that.
- 6:31Speaker 2: But are they eleven and the eight people? I think
- 6:34Speaker 2: that's right.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I think Heather Dinich, looking at her college football projections YEP,
- 6:40Speaker 3: also had Boise State well at eleven. I'm curious, Craig
- 6:45Speaker 3: what the committee thinks of the SEC teams and what
- 6:49Speaker 3: they think of Oregon's win over Ohio State, because I
- 6:51Speaker 3: would argue that the best winning college football is Georgia
- 6:54Speaker 3: over Texas. Now, I know they have that one lass
- 6:56Speaker 3: and the undefeated stuff, but I wouldn't argue there is
- 7:00Speaker 3: an argument rather that Georgia could be number one.
- 7:03Speaker 1: There are those who would do that. Speaking of Heather Dinach,
- 7:06Speaker 1: this is for projected twelve team bracket. She has now
- 7:14Speaker 1: her seating is based on a projected top twelve from
- 7:19Speaker 1: the committee on a bracket, not how they would be
- 7:22Speaker 1: ranked currently.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Okay, which is so consioned.
- 7:26Speaker 3: I know.
- 7:26Speaker 1: That's why I continue to remind folks this. The bracket
- 7:30Speaker 1: will be different because the top four are all going
- 7:34Speaker 1: to be conference champions. So there's no way that Georgia
- 7:39Speaker 1: and Texas can both be in the top four. There's
- 7:41Speaker 1: no way that Georgia and A and M can be
- 7:43Speaker 1: in the top four. There's no way that A and
- 7:45Speaker 1: M and Texas can be in the top four. Only
- 7:47Speaker 1: one from the SEC can be in the top four.
- 7:50Speaker 1: All right, Her projection as Oregon number one, Georgia number two,
- 7:54Speaker 1: Miami number three, and by U number four.
- 7:56Speaker 2: Those are the four Power four.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Conference champions that she's projecting Oregon win the Big Ten,
- 8:02Speaker 1: Georgia win the SEC, Miami to win the ACC, b
- 8:07Speaker 1: YU to win the Big twelve. Now keep this in mind,
- 8:10Speaker 1: Oregon is, by her projection right now, the number one seed.
- 8:14Speaker 1: If Oregon gets in the Big Ten championship game and
- 8:18Speaker 1: say lose as a rematch.
- 8:19Speaker 2: To Ohio State or heaven forbid, Indiana. Oh, if it
- 8:24Speaker 2: should get there, Indiana.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, if it were to happen, or Penn State
- 8:30Speaker 1: or Penn State. If it were to happen, Oregon wouldn't,
- 8:35Speaker 1: like in pastures, only drop one or two or at
- 8:37Speaker 1: the most three spots and still be in that fourteen playoffs.
- 8:40Speaker 2: No, they'd drop out of the top four.
- 8:42Speaker 1: The conference champion would replace them in the top four
- 8:47Speaker 1: drawing a bye. Now they might only fall to five,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but they would drop out of the top four. So again,
- 8:52Speaker 1: she's got Oregon, Georgia, Miami, and b YU in your
- 8:55Speaker 1: top four. Then in the twelve to five matchup, he's
- 9:00Speaker 1: got Penn State is the five, Tennessee is the twelve.
- 9:04Speaker 1: Then on that same side of the bracket, the eight
- 9:07Speaker 1: seed she has his Texas A and m the nine Indiana.
- 9:12Speaker 1: Then in the six and eleven matchup. She's got Ohio
- 9:16Speaker 1: State against Clemson, and the seven versus ten Texas against
- 9:20Speaker 1: Boise State.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Ten, She's got she goes.
- 9:23Speaker 1: This one is interesting because if Texas wins his first
- 9:25Speaker 1: round game, they'd have a rematch with Georgia. Texas and
- 9:28Speaker 1: Georgia could also play for the SEC championship. While possible,
- 9:32Speaker 1: it's unlikely they would play each other three times because
- 9:35Speaker 1: if they were in the SEC title game, the Lousier
- 9:37Speaker 1: would have two losses and probably not earn the first.
- 9:39Speaker 2: Round home game.
- 9:41Speaker 1: It's a good point Boise State seeding in this example
- 9:44Speaker 1: matches its ranking, and the Broncos, as the top champion
- 9:47Speaker 1: from the group of five, wouldn't have to displace any
- 9:51Speaker 1: team in the committee's top twelve because they were already
- 9:54Speaker 1: ranked within it. That's a very important thing to keep
- 9:56Speaker 1: in mind that if they're already in that top twelve,
- 9:59Speaker 1: they're not knocking out one of the quote unquote last
- 10:02Speaker 1: one in or last two inning. She has last two
- 10:04Speaker 1: in being Clemson, the eleven and Tennessee. The twelve, first
- 10:08Speaker 1: four out Notre Dame top of the list, Iowa State,
- 10:12Speaker 1: Kansas State, and Alabama, and then the next four oh
- 10:16Speaker 1: miss LSU, Pitt and SMU. Interesting. Pitt and SMU of
- 10:20Speaker 1: course plays Saturday night in Dallas, Big Game, Huge Jam.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Apparently not big enough for ESPN to displace an SEC game.
- 10:29Speaker 1: It's on a ACC network that's got a lot of
- 10:32Speaker 1: people grumbling about that.
- 10:35Speaker 3: What could be really interesting here, Craig is, for instance,
- 10:39Speaker 3: the ACC, Like say Clemson loses to and who they
- 10:45Speaker 3: love in Pittsburgh before the season ends or somebody else.
- 10:49Speaker 3: Then they beat Miami in the College and the a
- 10:52Speaker 3: SEC Championship. They're in either as a three or four possibly,
- 10:56Speaker 3: but you think Miami stays in because that would be
- 10:59Speaker 3: their first loss. Of Miami remains undefeated, so kind of
- 11:02Speaker 3: just like an at large bid. Right, It's gonna be
- 11:04Speaker 3: the same thing with the college football playoff where all
- 11:06Speaker 3: of a sudden, maybe Tennessee team that might be number twelve,
- 11:11Speaker 3: and maybe they don't make the SEC Tower Game, so
- 11:14Speaker 3: they can't have a chance to bolster their record or
- 11:16Speaker 3: get that automatic berth. Maybe they're knocked out. Could be
- 11:19Speaker 3: the same thing with the Big twelve. Right, maybe BYU
- 11:22Speaker 3: remains undefeated and Iowa State and Iowa State because they
- 11:25Speaker 3: don't play each other, right, correct, But then say, whatever reason.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I don't know. There's just so much could happen here.
- 11:32Speaker 1: Where, although I think there's a very by her estimation,
- 11:35Speaker 1: what you're saying is true. Let's say by you and
- 11:38Speaker 1: Iowa State both go twelve and zero and they meet.
- 11:42Speaker 2: In Dallas or Arlington. You don't leave both.
- 11:44Speaker 1: Out, No, because the winner's gonna win the Big Twelve championship,
- 11:48Speaker 1: So they're gonna get a boy.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Do you lose a loser out? I mean the loser
- 11:51Speaker 2: of that game? According to this, she got them out.
- 11:54Speaker 1: She got Iowa stayed out, she said, I always state.
- 11:57Speaker 1: And here's why Iowa State is eighty sixth in ESPN's
- 12:02Speaker 1: Strength of Schedule B. WHYU is fifty five B WHYU
- 12:05Speaker 1: currently leads with a thirty three percent chance to win
- 12:08Speaker 1: the Big Twelve, followed very closely by Iowa State. According
- 12:10Speaker 1: to ESPN Analytics. She has Kansas State on the outside logan,
- 12:15Speaker 1: she's the loss to B. Why you was holding them
- 12:17Speaker 1: back here? But the Wildcats keep finding ways to win,
- 12:19Speaker 1: including Saturday against feisty rival Kansas. The win against the
- 12:23Speaker 1: two loss buffs looks even better now that they're Bowl eligible.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Colorado. Yeah, case State's winning for Colorado, for sure.
- 12:31Speaker 3: Colorado has a pretty simple schedule. They could win out
- 12:33Speaker 3: and not make the big twelve time game. That's exactly
- 12:36Speaker 3: en nin ten wins.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yep, yep. Well, and you could have that with Alabama.
- 12:42Speaker 1: This is the first time a two loss team is
- 12:44Speaker 1: crept into this category, but one more teams have two
- 12:47Speaker 1: losses and two Alabama finally put together an impressive performance
- 12:51Speaker 1: against a decent Missouri team. The November ninth trip to
- 12:54Speaker 1: LSU is the last remaining chance to impress the committee
- 12:57Speaker 1: for Alabama, she writes, So anyway, there's some college much fun.
- 13:03Speaker 2: People were against expansion.
- 13:05Speaker 1: Shame on you. You've heard me from the start say
- 13:08Speaker 1: more and more. I want sixteen. Get rid of those buys.
- 13:12Speaker 1: Let everybody there was sixteen team bracket?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Why not? All right? Uh?
- 13:17Speaker 1: Coming up, we'll hear more from Jerry Jones. Will we
- 13:20Speaker 1: continue on Sports Radio AM thirteen hunderd The Zone
