Transcript
- 0:00So the love for watches, where did that come from?
- 0:02I just left the Hasidic Jewish Orthodox community.
- 0:05And I'm not educated, so I don't have a job.
- 0:08I bought my first AP rubber clad for 11,000 and I sold it for 11.8 and I got hooked.
- 0:12Today's guest is Moshe Haimov, better known as the Watch King, a New York based luxury watch dealer and entrepreneur.
- 0:19He built his business around buying, selling and trading high end timepieces.
- 0:23In this conversation, he shares his journey into the watch business and the lessons he learned about money, addiction,
- 0:29and taking responsibility.
- 0:31When was the point in your life when that lesson really solidified?
- 0:35That money doesn't come easy.
- 0:37When I couldn't pay for a picture I took with my children, it was $700 and I couldn't afford to pay it.
- 0:43What's your wisdom to help them get out of the thing that they don't want to be part of, that they feel guilty, that leaving, they feel addicted and they can't leave?
- 0:50Because you pity yourself.
- 0:51You can't pity yourself.
- 0:52You gotta take responsibility, accountability and move on.
- 0:55Every day you get up, you gotta be better than yesterday.
- 0:56And you gotta make the world a better place.
- 1:00My fitness pal is a success story partner.
- 1:02Now, here's something I've noticed after interviewing hundreds of founders, the ones that are performing at the highest level, the ones that are truly winning.
- 1:08They aren't just optimizing their business or their calendar or their team.
- 1:12They're paying attention to what they eat.
- 1:14And the ones who aren't paying attention, they're usually the first ones to burn out.
- 1:17And that pattern is consistent enough that it got me thinking about my own nutrition,
- 1:20Not whether I was eating well, but whether I actually knew what the big picture looked like.
- 1:24That's why I started using the MyFitnessPal app.
- 1:26I wanted to see what I was actually eating, not what I assumed I was eating, but the real numbers, what my protein intake looked like, what my macronutrient breakdown was, where my calories were actually going throughout the day.
- 1:37And the app gives you all of that.
- 1:39Now, what kept me using it is that there's zero friction.
- 1:42If I eat something, I scan the barcode, it pulls everything up.
- 1:44I can also verbally log what I eat.
- 1:47And it remembers my regular meals.
- 1:48So most days I'm logging my food in under a minute.
- 1:50See, food is a foundation for your energy, your sleep, your recovery, and your performance.
- 1:55It's not one of many inputs.
- 1:56It is the one input.
- 1:58So go to podcast.myfitnesspal.com and use code SCOTT.

- 2:04That's podcast.myfitnesspal.com, code SCOTT.
- 2:13So I was thinking of all the different ways to start off this podcast, but I think the easiest question is what are you wearing right now?
- 2:18This is my favorite Aquanaut.
- 2:22It's called a 5968A Orange.
- 2:25I like it because of the orange strap.
- 2:27Retail is $52,000.
- 2:28It's about $160,000 in our market.
- 2:31And I can't even get one if I begged and on my knees to the paddock dealer because we're banned.
- 2:35And.
- 2:37So, yeah, that's what I'm wearing.
- 2:39And my other wrist, it's my pride and joy, is all my lab-grown, beautiful bracelets.
- 2:46People think it's fruity, but I like it.
- 2:48I like them, they're nice.
- 2:49Yeah, so I wear them because girls are like, oh my God, they tell their man, look at this man.
- 2:53And I tell the guy, I can't have more bracelets than your lady.
- 2:56So they just come and start buying this stuff for them, you know?
- 2:59So the love for watches, where did that come from?
- 3:02Let's go back to 2009.
- 3:06I was 22 years old.
- 3:08I just left the Hasidic Jewish Orthodox community.
- 3:14And I'm not educated, so I don't have a job.
- 3:16I don't have an education.
- 3:18I didn't finish, like, high school or something.
- 3:20Because we only went to, like, Hebrew school.
- 3:21Then I had to ship me to Israel to learn to become a rabbi.
- 3:25So I studied rabbis there, graduated.
- 3:27Then I'm like, I don't want to do this.
- 3:29Like I don't want to do it It wasn't for me Too many restrictions You know I want to be like everybody else So I left And I don't have a job So I went to 47th Street The Diamond District And I Asked for a job And the guy's like Yeah you can cold What's it called?
- 3:43Cold call?
- 3:44When you Cold call?
- 3:45Whenever you pick up Say hey Are you looking for any diamonds To hang up on your face?
- 3:48So he's like I'll give you like I don't know Almost $400 a week Or $500 a week at a time I said yeah I'll take it Nothing else to do
- 3:55And I was like a little bit like lost.
- 3:58I went downstairs and my boy was like, I had a friend Gabby who I took my rotas with when I was 16 years old.
- 4:04And he was in the watch business.
- 4:05He's like, you want to learn the watch game?
- 4:07I said, yeah, it's better than working for somebody for $500 a week.
- 4:10And he's like, all right, bring 50 grand tomorrow and I'll teach you the business.
- 4:14And that's what I did.
- 4:15I borrowed $50,000.
- 4:18Came the next day.
- 4:20I bought my first AP rubber clad for $11,000.
- 4:23And I sold it for $11,800.
- 4:24And...
- 4:25And I got hooked.
- 4:25That was the thing that got you into it?
- 4:27Yeah, I said, listen, I'm not educated.
- 4:28If I can make $800 a day just flipping a watch and I'll be happy.
- 4:32That's what I did.
- 4:33And I was 22 at the time.
- 4:35Why the 50,000?
- 4:36What was that for?
- 4:37He just like bring something.
- 4:39Yeah, bring something so you can like have some skin in the game.
- 4:41So, you know, I don't want to work for him.
- 4:43He's going to tell me like, I don't know, wash the windows or whatever.
- 4:46But he's like, I'll teach you the game.
- 4:47So you have to have money in.
- 4:49You don't have to really.
- 4:50You can work for somebody, build capital that way.
- 4:52But he's like, if you bring 50K, it's like, it's going to be easier for you to learn.
- 4:56Because when it's your own money invested, he's like, so, you know.
- 4:58You're going to work.
- 4:59You're going to work harder.
- 5:00You know, you got to take risks.
- 5:03I said, okay, no problem.
- 5:05I got 50K, came.
- 5:07I'll never forget that day in my life.
- 5:09It was March 26, 2009.
- 5:10For me, it was like, changed my whole life.
- 5:15It did.
- 5:16It's crazy because we're going to go through your story and you've had a little bit of a wild life.
- 5:21Yeah, rollercoaster, man.
- 5:22Still on it.
- 5:23But you're at a good spot right now.
- 5:24You're at a good spot.
- 5:25From what I understand, you're at a good spot.
- 5:28One of the things that you said on, I listened to some podcasts you've been on and you were saying how
- 5:33There's a period of your life where you were really into gambling.
- 5:36Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:36But the lesson that you learned from gambling was that money doesn't come easy.
- 5:41Correct.
- 5:41It goes easy.
- 5:42It goes super easy.
- 5:43It's so fast.
- 5:45But when was the point in your life when that lesson really solidified?
- 5:50Like the money doesn't come easy.
- 5:52When I couldn't pay for a picture I took.
- 5:56with my children it was seven hundred dollars and i couldn't afford to pay it so i had to borrow money to pay that poet what's it called poultry whatever it was family phone was poultry whatever i couldn't afford to pay it and i remember i borrowed it and i paid for it and i felt like a loser i was like 27 at the time i had no money but i wanted anyway just to have memories and
- 6:19I have that still stuck up every day and I never took it down and I have it and I look at it every single day.
- 6:25And I tell myself, look where you were and look where you came.
- 6:31Galilee is a disease.
- 6:33I'm not against it.
- 6:34I know people, they teach you to be against gambling.
- 6:36And it's like, you know, when you go to rehab, they tell you, oh, it's really bad.
- 6:40I believe it's bad.
- 6:41But for me, because I'm an addict.
- 6:43I mean, you're not an addict, I assume.
- 6:45So if you, it's whatever.
- 6:46You put a thousand dollars, you can leave.
- 6:48It's like going to dinner.
- 6:49Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:50But I would say that, you know what?
- 6:52So you grew up super conservative, like Hasidic.
- 6:56No TV, no internet, no phones.
- 6:58No, I couldn't go to the Met game.
- 7:00I couldn't wear this.
- 7:01I had to wear a white shirt, black pants, wear the hat, the curls, and black shoes.
- 7:05If my shoes were brown, my dad would make me throw them out.
- 7:07You took like the hardest left and did like a 180.
- 7:11Yeah, that's what happens, right?
- 7:13I'm always like that.
- 7:13Extremism is either your left or right.
- 7:15You got to learn how to be balanced.
- 7:18Right?
- 7:18That's what us addicts also are extremists.
- 7:20You got to learn and teach yourself how to be balanced.
- 7:23It's okay to do everything.
- 7:25Like when you're like all in?
- 7:27Not like all in.
- 7:28You got to take it in balance.
- 7:29That's right.
- 7:30You got to be balanced.
- 7:32You got to be like drinking alcohol is bad if you get shit-faced.
- 7:36But if you take one or two glasses of wine and you're feeling fine, right?
- 7:40Eating can also either kill you or make you stronger.
- 7:43If you eat like an animal and you eat bad stuff, you're going to die.
- 7:46Or if you eat good stuff and healthy, it's going to fuel your body.
- 7:49Same thing.
- 7:50You know what's crazy though?
- 7:51So I've always thought that the personality of an addict can make a great entrepreneur because they're just addicted to something else.
- 8:01But I've also thought that the most successful entrepreneur, if they made a few wrong choices in life, they would end up an addict because the same thing that gives them the dopamine rush of success and next win and more money, you can get that in a lot of different places if you're not careful.
- 8:19I'm addicted to work.
- 8:20No, that's what I'm addicted to.
- 8:23But listen, I'm okay with it.
- 8:26I'm okay with it.
- 8:28It's fine.
- 8:29I mean, I'm not embarrassed of it.
- 8:33I mean, I try to tell people as much as I can with their addictions if they go through it.
- 8:38But again, I want to say that the rehab centers and addicts are going to hate me, but...
- 8:44Scambling is here to stay, so either learn how to deal with it.
- 8:47You can't deny it.
- 8:49I learned this from religion.
- 8:51They deny the whole world about themselves.
- 8:53You can't deny the whole world.
- 8:54People are here.
- 8:55There's other people besides Hasidic Jews in the whole world.
- 8:58Yeah, of course.
- 8:59You can't deny alcohol.
- 9:00It's there.
- 9:01Learn how to cope with it or not.
- 9:04Listen, if you think you're going to go crazy and you can't stop, so don't touch it.
- 9:09But I believe that rehab and therapy should teach you how to deal with it.
- 9:13Because it's there.
- 9:14Not denied.
- 9:15You can't deny it.
- 9:16You can't go against these draft kings and all these people.
- 9:19They're there.
- 9:20They're there.
- 9:20The country makes money off of it.
- 9:24And there's the smartest marketers and business people that are sort of like, you know, they've found a way to make these companies super addictive and these things super addictive.
- 9:35But I was going to say, I think because you had such like this strict upbringing, that was actually very dangerous.
- 9:41This is more of a parenting lesson than anything.
- 9:43Horrible.
- 9:44I mean, my parents didn't know better.
- 9:45They thought they were doing the right thing.
- 9:47I have nothing against my parents.
- 9:48I had the best childhood in my life.
- 9:50I didn't know better.
- 9:52My father was the best dad, my mom was the best mom, they always got along and whatever, but the school sucked.
- 9:59It was prison.
- 10:00It was legit prison.
- 10:03I didn't know what a girl was until I was 17 years old or 16 years old.
- 10:06Never talked to a girl in my life.
- 10:07It sucked.
- 10:08It was weird.
- 10:09I didn't own a pair of jeans until I was 22.
- 10:12I couldn't wear anything colored.
- 10:15you know, you didn't know, as you get older, you ask yourself, why would I look different than everybody else?
- 10:21And it just becomes a whole mind game.
- 10:24What was the thing that actually put, because you were studying to be a rabbi.
- 10:27Yeah, yeah.
- 10:28A siddic rabbi at that.
- 10:29So what was the thing that pushed you away?
- 10:32I'll tell you, I was 11 years old.
- 10:33I'll never forget.
- 10:33I have a twin brother, identical twin brother.
- 10:35He went to school and they're like, if you eat Reese's peanut butter cups or M&M's, that's not like, it's kosher, but it's not like the head kosher, you're going to die.
- 10:43And I'm like, dude, my brother tells me, he's like, bro, Moshe, it's impossible that there's millions of people in this world who eat it and they sell it in the stores, but it's poison.
- 10:52It makes no sense.
- 10:54Listen, bro, I don't know.
- 10:55How about you try it first?
- 10:56So we snuck one.
- 10:57We got one.
- 10:58And we snuck it in the house.
- 11:00And my brother tried it because my brother always had the bigger balls than me.
- 11:04And he's like, yeah, I'll try.
- 11:04I don't care.
- 11:05So he tried it.
- 11:07And he's like, you see?
- 11:08And my bear, I'm like, so what are they telling us?
- 11:10Maybe everything is a lie.
- 11:13You know?
- 11:14And then I start asking myself all these questions.
- 11:17Maybe they're telling me about our cult or whatever we have to do every day.
- 11:20Maybe it's an over-exaggeration.
- 11:21Maybe it's just a fear.
- 11:23Maybe it's a control.
- 11:24Maybe.
- 11:24That was so young.
- 11:26That was a seed.
- 11:27That was a seed.
- 11:28And as I got older, the more I learned, the more I realized that it's just everything is a control aspect.
- 11:32Like everything is like, oh, if you leave, we're going to disown you and your kids, everything will be secluded and you're going to be out of the community.
- 11:39Why?
- 11:40Why?
- 11:42Not for me.
- 11:43You have to force it down my throat.
- 11:45Doesn't mean I'm not a human being.
- 11:46Okay, I chose to believe in God or whatever it is.
- 11:49Even if I don't believe in God, I mean, who cares?
- 11:52I'm still a good human, right?
- 11:54I'm not judging anybody.
- 11:56Same thing in every extremism, every extreme religion.
- 12:00The most conservative, most orthodox version of every religion.
- 12:03Muslim, Christians, Jews, same thing.
- 12:05They all act the same way.
- 12:06It's their way or no way.
- 12:07It doesn't work that way, unfortunately.
- 12:13Still, listen, I'm still brainwashed, bro.
- 12:16I still have guilt every single day that I eat not kosher and I go out and I don't keep the Sabbath.
- 12:22And I still have guilt every single day.
- 12:24Because they teach you if you don't do this, God's going to punish you.
- 12:28He's going to kill you.
- 12:29God is evil.
- 12:30So every day I'm waiting for something to happen to me.
- 12:33Deadass.
- 12:33Every day.
- 12:35In the morning I talk, I pray every day.
- 12:36I say, God, listen, I'm not trying to do something bad.
- 12:39I'm just human with desires.
- 12:40I think I'm like, you know, I don't steal from people.
- 12:43I don't commit crime or something.
- 12:44I'm good.
- 12:45I try to be as much as I can help people.
- 12:48I think that the best way to look at religion is...
- 12:52It's good for some people.
- 12:53It is good.
- 12:54But if you're moving in the right direction and you're being a good person and you're trying to...
- 13:02sort of progress on your own journey, whatever that looks like, I think that's the best way to use religion because there's a lot of benefits.
- 13:10Of course.
- 13:11But I think religion is, they think God is religion.
- 13:16My dad is the chief rabbi of the community and where I live.
- 13:20He's like the man, if he tells this guy, this is your wife, you divorce her, he's going to leave her.
- 13:25Or if he tells him to open this business, that's the way he is.
- 13:29And we have a podcast about religion on Fridays, me, him, and my twin brother.
- 13:32And we had one this Friday and I'm like, listen, if it makes you happy, that's your truth, do it.
- 13:39That's not my truth.
- 13:40This doesn't make me happy.
- 13:41He's like, there's only one truth.
- 13:42I said, no, you're wrong.
- 13:44There's one God.
- 13:45There's different ways to serve him.
- 13:47And how did that, when you left the community, when you chose to not be a rabbi, and you go to 47th Street, you borrow 50 grand, you make your first 800 grand on that AP,
- 13:58$800.
- 13:58I wish $800,000.
- 13:59$800 on that APA, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:03What was the point?
- 14:06I want to talk about the business of it and all that, but I also think that you as a human, you went on that journey there, and I think that that probably led to that break from the community led to a lot of the different difficult things that happened and good things as well.
- 14:24So that probably led to gambling and all that.
- 14:27That's the first thing that happened.
- 14:29That was when?
- 14:29What age?
- 14:30I was 26.
- 14:32Four years later, I made a lot of money.
- 14:34So you were very successful.
- 14:36No, very early, yeah.
- 14:37I made a lot of money.
- 14:38I don't want to say how much.
- 14:39I think whoever talks about which money they make, I think it's shallow, so it doesn't matter.
- 14:42I made a lot of money.
- 14:44And I felt lost.
- 14:45I felt like I don't belong anywhere.
- 14:48you know, because I work on 47th Street, all Jews, my dad is the rabbi there, so that's all his people in the community.
- 14:54So I felt like I don't belong there.
- 14:57So I went to the casino one time.
- 14:58I went to Atlantic City
- 15:01And I went to the blackjack table, and then there's a host that, hi, my name is whatever, I'm your host.
- 15:09If you need anything, let me know.
- 15:11I started playing, and I won firsthand.
- 15:14I want, like, money, and I'm like, what am I doing?
- 15:18I'm like, this is my new job.
- 15:19I'm going to come here every day.
- 15:20But then I felt accepted.
- 15:23They accepted me.
- 15:24They sent me limos.
- 15:25They gave me food.
- 15:26They said, you belong here.
- 15:27You're one of us.
- 15:28I felt like, okay, there's a community.
- 15:29Here we go.
- 15:29So you left one community.
- 15:31I had no community.
- 15:32I was by my own, and I went here.
- 15:34I'm like, oh, my God, this is like they love me here.
- 15:36No, no, I meant the religious community.
- 15:38You left that on your own, found it.
- 15:40Then I went to the gambling community.
- 15:41I'm like, yo, everybody is so nice.
- 15:42They're talking to you.
- 15:43They treat you nicely.
- 15:44And all I know is they're sucking me dry.
- 15:45They know you're going to make you money.
- 15:47I'm not making money.
- 15:48They know that you are going to make them money.
- 15:49Yeah, I was a sucker, right?
- 15:51But I didn't look at it that way.
- 15:52I felt accepted.
- 15:53So I was hooked to it like, oh, somebody wants me.
- 15:55Here I am.
- 15:57So I'm here.
- 15:58And I'll drive every day from here to Atlantic City.
- 15:59It's two and
- 16:02So imagine driving from Miami to Orlando every day and driving home.
- 16:06So I would drive every day, fill up gas.
- 16:08When you come to the line and say this is a gas station, because I know if I lose money, at least I have gas to get home.
- 16:13And that's what I did for about six months, eight months, and I lost everything.
- 16:18You were making good money, but in your mind, you said, I'm going to fill up gas just in case I lose so I can get home.
- 16:28Like, is that, that's crazy rationalization.
- 16:31Like, cause any, any person objectively looking at that scenario would be like, that's a really bad situation that you're in.
- 16:37If you're thinking like, I'm going to.
- 16:38The adrenaline, man.
- 16:40Shit runs through your veins.
- 16:41It's like an addict, right?
- 16:43People who shoot up or whatever, they know it's bad.
- 16:46They're doing it because it feels good at the time.
- 16:48They don't think about the consequences later.
- 16:50When you're young, you don't care.
- 16:52That's what I did for a long six months.
- 16:55Because I used to fly to India every month.
- 16:57I went from watches.
- 16:58Then I started doing diamonds.
- 16:59So we used to do upgrades.
- 17:01We used to make a lot of money really quick on the upgrade game.
- 17:03I don't think we have time to go into how it works.
- 17:05You buy a stone.
- 17:07You see one color.
- 17:08You get a better color.
- 17:09You make $10,000, $15,000 per carat.
- 17:11So you're making mad money.
- 17:11It's like, I'm going to go to India.
- 17:12It smells.
- 17:13It's a 14-hour flight every month.
- 17:15Let's go to Atlantic City.
- 17:16I'll make the same money, if not more.
- 17:17It's a two-and-a-half-hour drive, and I can go every day.
- 17:20Worst decision of my life.
- 17:22You rationalize it.
- 17:23That's what addicts do though.
- 17:25They rationalize.
- 17:25I do it today.
- 17:25I rationalize all day.
- 17:27I do business too all day.
- 17:28Yeah, but there's healthier addiction.
- 17:30So anyway, so you're doing this for six months.
- 17:32Yeah, I lost everything.
- 17:34Started gambling on stupid stuff.
- 17:37I remember one time I called my friend.
- 17:40He called and I'm like, bro, take this bet.
- 17:43The Heat had the big three then.
- 17:45They had LeBron, Leiterbosch.
- 17:48They were playing the Wizards.
- 17:51Right?
- 17:51And the heat were minus, was it 10,000 I think at the time or a thousand?
- 17:55I don't remember.
- 17:56Basically if I put 10 grand and I lose, I lose a hundred thousand dollars.
- 18:01I call him in the morning.
- 18:02I'll put the bet in.
- 18:03That's an easy win.
- 18:04What the hell is wrong with me?
- 18:08I'll put $10,000.
- 18:08I think I win $1,000 or $2,000 and I lose $100,000.
- 18:11I don't remember.
- 18:12That's wild.
- 18:13That's a wild spread.
- 18:14I was already broke.
- 18:15I need something to come back.
- 18:18It was Wizards sucked.
- 18:19He was the best team in the NBA.
- 18:20I mean, the spread was there.
- 18:21I don't remember exactly what it was.
- 18:23All I remember is I called him in the morning.
- 18:25He's like, I got you.
- 18:25I called him at 6.30.
- 18:28He doesn't pick out.
- 18:30Seven, eight, nine.
- 18:31I'm watching the game.
- 18:32They heat loose.
- 18:33I'm like, fuck.
- 18:35There goes my money.
- 18:36He calls me tomorrow.
- 18:37I was like, you're lucky.
- 18:37The second he called me, I got arrested.
- 18:39Cop pulled me over because I picked up my phone.
- 18:42I was looking at my phone and you were calling me.
- 18:43I got into bookings that night, so I didn't put the bed in.
- 18:47I said, wow, God bailed me out that time.
- 18:49That was like a little bit of a wake up call where I got to stop.
- 18:52That was like, wow.
- 18:53Wow.
- 18:54not look at me like years later no he's still my boy I told him he's like if I was an asshole I would have told him I'd put that bet and he would have paid me the money but I'm not that was one of the stupidest bets I ever made in my life I didn't make it I wanted to make it so that was like the rock bottom no rock bottom was when they took my house away
- 19:13took my cars.
- 19:15It took everything from me.
- 19:16That was rock bottom.
- 19:17This wasn't waking you up?
- 19:18No.
- 19:18I thought about it for a day and I got over it.
- 19:22I went right back to Gatling.
- 19:25We didn't have apps then.
- 19:26You had bookies or the casino.
- 19:28It was 2012.
- 19:31No.
- 19:32Yeah, 12, 13.
- 19:33There was no apps.
- 19:34So it was Atlantic City or bookie you call about games or whatnot.
- 19:41Listen, there's
- 19:43The whole point of the addiction is not...
- 19:45The rush is not how much money you make at the time.
- 19:48It's the comeback.
- 19:49So I got a better high being down or making it back than making the money and leaving.
- 19:54I made the money, big deal.
- 19:56When you're down... And he had to say, like... One time we went for the casino at $100,000.
- 20:01We were down $90,000, me and my boy.
- 20:04And he's like...
- 20:06They call me rabbi still today.
- 20:07Rabbi, bust the money.
- 20:08We're going to make it back.
- 20:09I said, okay, listen.
- 20:09I'm going to give you the $10,000.
- 20:11If we make it 100, we leave.
- 20:12Swear.
- 20:13Because I swear.
- 20:13I said, shake on it.
- 20:14And I told the lady.
- 20:16He was rolling.
- 20:17He was driving.
- 20:18I wasn't driving.
- 20:19I was sitting in the back.
- 20:20I'm like, you're driving, right?
- 20:22I'm going to count the money after every shoe.
- 20:25We'll make the money even.
- 20:26We're out.
- 20:27He said, done.
- 20:29Two shoes in.
- 20:29There's 99,000 there.
- 20:31I grabbed the money.
- 20:32I ran.
- 20:32He chased me.
- 20:33He's like, no, no.
- 20:33Give me that.
- 20:34I have to make 10.
- 20:34I said, no, that thousand is going to make you lose everything.
- 20:37We're out.
- 20:38That adrenaline was the best thing I've ever had in my life.
- 20:41I remember it till today.
- 20:42So when did you actually know that there was a problem?
- 20:45Well, I had no money left.
- 20:47I was borrowing money from friends and hard money and not paying bookies.
- 20:52They were knocking on the door at my parents' house.
- 20:56That's how I knew I had a problem.
- 21:00And then I knew I lost almost 100 pounds in six months.
- 21:03I was 240 pounds when I started gambling.
- 21:08And I ended up at 148 six months later.
- 21:12I wasn't eating, smoking and pack two packs a day and gambling all day and drinking.
- 21:20And then like with the actual business, what's going on with the business?
- 21:23You were out.
- 21:23You were like totally.
- 21:24I was out for a year almost.
- 21:26It's gone.
- 21:26People like what the hell happened to you?
- 21:28Look like a skeleton.
- 21:28I'm like, no, I'm okay.
- 21:29I'm okay.
- 21:31I owe so much money.
- 21:34So much money.
- 21:37And then I decided one day either that or I go to jail.
- 21:40Either I go to rehab and therapy or I go to jail.
- 21:44You make the decision, what do you want to do?
- 21:47I said, I'll go.
- 21:48I went to therapy first day.
- 21:50I lied straight through my teeth.
- 21:51He's like, bro, what are you doing here?
- 21:52I'm going to take your money, but I know you're lying to me.
- 21:54I'm like, oh, it's painful.
- 21:57Therapy's painful.
- 21:59Got to go dig into your past, and you don't want to talk about that, you know?
- 22:04Help me, man, thank God.
- 22:08I miss it every day, bro.
- 22:12I miss gambling every day.
- 22:14Every day.
- 22:15I think about it every day.
- 22:17You don't let go of shit easily.
- 22:19I'm just noticing that now.
- 22:21You're talking about the guilt that you still feel from when you were a kid?
- 22:25It's a brainwash, bro.
- 22:26You talk about the gambling?
- 22:27Let me ask you a question.
- 22:28The kid who's born and he decides to become a terrorist, do you think that's how he's born?
- 22:32No, of course not.
- 22:33You brainwashed you, right?
- 22:35Oh, you got to kill yourself.
- 22:36You got to do this.
- 22:37You're going to be a hero.
- 22:38So he's like, whatever, I'll do it.
- 22:39That's what I did.
- 22:40I was brainwashed as a child.
- 22:42Not by my parents, but in school.
- 22:44This is what God wants from you.
- 22:46So you feel guilty every time, even though you're out of it now, right?
- 22:49But you still... See, a child's memory is like a cement, right?
- 22:53Yeah, when they're growing.
- 22:55Sticks, everything absorbs everything.
- 22:56That's what we absorb is threats and fear.
- 22:59So how do you, so you're, you know, you've gone through a lot of difficult, difficult shit in your life.
- 23:07And I don't want to equate, you know, being very respectful.
- 23:10I don't want to equate what you've gone through being super religious as a kid to what you've gone through with gambling.
- 23:16They're different.
- 23:17They're different things that are different impacts.
- 23:18I would choose that life again every day.
- 23:20I know you would.
- 23:21The gambling life every day.
- 23:22Why?
- 23:23Found my own identity that way.
- 23:24It cost me a lot of money, but it's okay.
- 23:26Then I was a puppet.
- 23:27I thought you were going to say you would choose that life every single day.
- 23:30The religious life?
- 23:30Never again.
- 23:31No, no, because of who it made you now.
- 23:33Yeah, that's what I did.
- 23:34That's what I'm trying to say.
- 23:34Maybe that's, I found my own identity through that.
- 23:37It cost me a shit ton of money, but it's okay.
- 23:40I found myself.
- 23:41With them, I've still been in their system.
- 23:43So when you get out of like a community that is all-encompassing, all-consuming, you still feel guilt from being, you know, very, very strict, orthodox.
- 23:54You still feel like whatever this pull to gamble.
- 23:59You still feel all these things.
- 24:00It's not a pull.
- 24:01I love the feelings.
- 24:02I know, but I'm saying like for people that have gone through things that are still like in them right now, what's your wisdom to help them get out of the thing that they don't want to be part of, that they feel guilty, that leaving, they feel addicted and they can't leave.
- 24:16How did you turn your life around when so many people can't and fall back to all these old habits, old groups, old communities?
- 24:25Because you pity yourself.
- 24:26You can't pity yourself.
- 24:28Ah, whatever, I'm in all the way with another $100,000.
- 24:30Oh, I feel so bad.
- 24:31I went through hell in life, so I deserve it.
- 24:34I'm not good enough.
- 24:35Yeah, but that's not going to make you a better person.
- 24:38It's going to bury yourself.
- 24:42Can't feel bad for yourself.
- 24:46You can't.
- 24:46You got to take responsibility, accountability, and move on.
- 24:48Yeah, I can also blame my parents, blame my brothers and sisters, and blame my teachers.
- 24:53No, it's my fault.
- 24:53I did it.
- 24:55Man up.
- 24:56Grow up and do it.
- 24:57Better yourself every day.
- 24:58If you don't challenge yourself every single day, I think, or make yourself better than you were yesterday, then you're wasting your time.
- 25:05I agree.
- 25:06Every day you get up and you got to be better than yesterday.
- 25:09And you got to make the world a better place.
- 25:11You're gambling and being addicted to it and stop making nothing better.
- 25:16Nobody.
- 25:17So you checked yourself into rehab?
- 25:20Yeah, my therapist made me go twice a week.
- 25:22It was outpatient rehab, right?
- 25:23So I would go every Sunday and Tuesday if I chose at 7, 8, whatever it was.
- 25:28Then he would, he's a smart man, Dr. Mizell.
- 25:31He would tell me, okay, so you go and I'm going to test you on what you learned.
- 25:36he would test me or he gave me the AA book it was like a big blue book it was called it was like 12 step program and all that and he would make me highlight what I would read and he would test me on that every week and if I failed I was in trouble so I made you not to fail that man it was hard when did you get back into the business
- 25:57The second I went to rehab, the second I went to therapy, I got back in.
- 26:02So what I did is I got back in.
- 26:05I went to a guy named Sono, helped me a lot.
- 26:08He's like, listen, I was doing diamonds.
- 26:09And he's like, yo, I asked him, like, can you wire money for me to my guy?
- 26:13I found a guy in Canada, actually, in Toronto.
- 26:17And he had three watches.
- 26:18He had three Day-Day twos.
- 26:20This was 2014 now.
- 26:22And I'm like, Sona, can you just send him the money and then we'll sell it and we'll make profit.
- 26:28We'll split the profit.
- 26:29I don't have the money.
- 26:29He's like, you know the watch game?
- 26:30I said, yeah, I was doing watches and I went to Dime.
- 26:32He's like, I want to do watches now.
- 26:34I want to do watches.
- 26:35I'll put up all the money.
- 26:35We'll do 50-50.
- 26:38I said okay I'm in He's like well you gotta go to Hong Kong Like you gotta move there And start working there And I'll tell you what to do Like go there This was before anybody Even knew what Hong Kong was I said I'm so desperate I'll do anything So what I did is I sat down with all my people I owe the money to So listen I owe you guys A lot of money I'll live off $4,000 a month I'll keep for myself Every other penny I make I'll pay you off Within two years I promise That's what I did
- 27:08Started working.
- 27:09I kept 4,000 and I gave everybody back.
- 27:11Within two years, I paid everybody back.
- 27:12And today I could look them in the face and they do business with me and whatever it is.
- 27:16Because I can be like, listen, I lost the money.
- 27:18Go screw yourself.
- 27:18But you can't.
- 27:19All you have as a man is your word.
- 27:22That's all we have as men, you know.
- 27:25Paid them back and then lived in Hong Kong till COVID.
- 27:28Went there.
- 27:29Two weeks there, two weeks here, two weeks there.
- 27:31I would buy merchandise.
- 27:32And that's when my business really took off.
- 27:34Honestly, after the rehab stint and the therapy, that's when everything.
- 27:38So you're not gambling anymore.
- 27:39Now you're focused on this.
- 27:42Gambling was like the main thing.
- 27:44There wasn't anything else.
- 27:46No, gambling, alcohol was there.
- 27:48No, no drugs ever.
- 27:51I was always scared because I wasn't scared.
- 27:53I'm a control freak.
- 27:53And in drugs, you lose control to the drug.
- 27:55I don't want to lose control to the drug.
- 27:57I can't do it.
- 27:58So I can't take any.
- 27:59I never tried a drug.
- 28:00I tried marijuana a couple of times.
- 28:02But anything else, never.
- 28:04Walk me through Hong Kong Watch Arbitrage.
- 28:09So how did you discover this?
- 28:11My ex-partner Sonos like, yo, go there.
- 28:13I have an office there.
- 28:15I think we can buy there cheap and sell here in the States.
- 28:17And what are you buying?
- 28:19Anything.
- 28:19Any Rolex, Datejust, Submariners, whatever it is, I'll just buy anything then at the time.
- 28:24I remember I went there the first time.
- 28:27I was like, wow, that's like New York City.
- 28:29Just way more people.
- 28:31It's dense.
- 28:32It's exactly.
- 28:33Smells the same.
- 28:33Looks the same.
- 28:34Buildings the same.
- 28:37Went there.
- 28:38Started knocking on doors.
- 28:39Went to shows.
- 28:40And I'm like, you know what?
- 28:41I'm just going to stay here.
- 28:42What else am I going to do?
- 28:42So I stayed.
- 28:43I'll go for two weeks at a time.
- 28:44Got an apartment.
- 28:46Buying watches, selling it to the state.
- 28:48Before Trump's tariffs, it was easy to send Rolex, pay nothing.
- 28:51Now it's 10%, so it's much harder.
- 28:53I would send, unload to all the stores, wholesale, COD, make 2-3%, go back.
- 29:01Two weeks, two weeks, two weeks, two weeks, do that.
- 29:04I did it till COVID.
- 29:07Why in Hong Kong is there such a huge amount of below U.S. market priced watches?
- 29:13So every country has their own market and they're all like what they like.
- 29:16Like, for example, we like bigger watches.
- 29:18Chinese people are smaller, so they don't wear it.
- 29:20They like sport models like Submariners and GMTs and whatnot.
- 29:23We like Deja's, bigger watches, Gaudier, APs.
- 29:27Asian people don't like it.
- 29:28It's small.
- 29:28So each market has their own niche.
- 29:30And it's the exchange rate that goes, right?
- 29:32And it's all supply and demand if nobody's buying them.
- 29:33Nobody's buying them.
- 29:35There's watches that are complete dogs, as we say, that nobody will sell them.
- 29:39And there's watches that you won't understand why, like this, it's triple the price of what it's worth.
- 29:44I remember Richard Miller's like the new hype now.
- 29:46I remember I bought that brand.
- 29:48I paid for $3501 then.
- 29:50I paid $86,000, sold it for $92,000.
- 29:53I was like, wow, today the watch is $300,000.
- 29:56Who knew?
- 29:56Have you ever, like, when you first started getting into this game,
- 30:01Did you notice some, like, I mean, like, outside of, like, the, I mean, well, even, like, Patek has had massive ROI in whatever the past 10 years.
- 30:08Patek was not hot 10 years ago.
- 30:10Oh, I know.
- 30:10That's what I'm saying.
- 30:11So was there ever a brand that you saw when you first started in this game that you knew was going to blow up?
- 30:17Richard Mill.
- 30:18You knew Richard Mill was going to blow up?
- 30:19I felt, I didn't know it was going to blow up like this, but I was like, what?
- 30:22It's different.
- 30:23His marketing is genius.
- 30:24He would go to all these athletes, not like, he'll go like to Rafa Nadal, say, you wear this watch.
- 30:29I made it.
- 30:31People saw it.
- 30:31He went to Bubba Watson and said, you wear this watch.
- 30:33I'll make it under your name.
- 30:35And it blew up since after COVID, even before COVID, that watch just started.
- 30:40Yeah.
- 30:41He would make a lot and he would be very different.
- 30:43Look, Paddock back then, I remember I bought an Aquanaut 5167 for $15,000.
- 30:49Today the watch was almost $100,000.
- 30:51I couldn't sell it for $15,000.
- 30:53I couldn't sell it for $100 profit.
- 30:55Yeah.
- 30:57Yeah.
- 30:58I remember 5711, I was on a boat to Macau.
- 31:01This was 2016.
- 31:02I'll never forget.
- 31:03So I was going to Macau just to see the casino there because I was infatuated.
- 31:07You know, I was on a boat to Macau.
- 31:10It's better than Vegas, by the way.
- 31:12Macau is crazy.
- 31:15Crazy.
- 31:16Macau, China.
- 31:18I went to Macau.
- 31:18I remember the dealer called me.
- 31:19Then dealers would sell to us.
- 31:22Like, Patek will call us.
- 31:23Please, we can't sell them.
- 31:24Buy them.
- 31:25They can't move their watches.
- 31:25We can't move your watches.
- 31:26Rolex will call.
- 31:27Please, $35 off.
- 31:28Take everything.
- 31:29In 2016.
- 31:31Yeah, $16, $17, $18.
- 31:3235% off retail.
- 31:34Today, I'm getting a penny off.
- 31:35We're playing close tax.
- 31:37So, Patek dealer called me.
- 31:38He's like, I have a 5711 white dial.
- 31:40Nautilus.
- 31:41Today, that was $115,000.
- 31:42How much is it?
- 31:43It's double sealed.
- 31:44Basically, Patek has double sealed.
- 31:45They seal it with a vacuum.
- 31:46They have the boxes sealed.
- 31:48How much?
- 31:48He said $22,000.
- 31:49I said it's not a month.
- 31:51I offered him $21,000.
- 31:52And I was scared he was going to say yes.
- 31:54He said yes.
- 31:54It's all for $21,500.
- 31:57Can you imagine?
- 31:58Today's $115,000.
- 32:00Go find it now.
- 32:01Well, that's a thing you can't find.
- 32:03You really can't find watches.
- 32:04AP Skeletal.
- 32:05I'll never forget when it first came out.
- 32:07I paid retail.
- 32:08$78,000 was retail back then.
- 32:12I had it for a year, sold it for cost, and I kept the link as profit.
- 32:16$800.
- 32:16Teresa, $200,000.
- 32:20When I see your content, I'm seeing that you're sending these kids around.
- 32:24This is a really cool new content style you're doing.
- 32:27You're saying, hey, what can you get for it?
- 32:28You give them a price?
- 32:29I think that's what you paid for it?
- 32:31I tell them, ask for this price and call me with an offer.
- 32:34What they do is sometimes these kids, they get fresh.
- 32:36They ask for $2,000 over and you're never going to get it.
- 32:38Then they ask why they can't sell it because you're not asking for the price I told you.
- 32:41Exactly.
- 32:42So I'm seeing them do this.
- 32:43But I'm also like the margins are so small.
- 32:48Very small.
- 32:48But it's how much you sell.
- 32:49It's like owning a grocery store.
- 32:51You have nobody.
- 32:52How much money do you think you make on an apple?
- 32:53You sell a thousand of them a day.
- 32:55Yeah, but do you sell 1,000 watches a day?
- 32:56If I sell 10 watches a day, I can make $5,000.
- 32:59$500 of profit.
- 33:01You make $500 a watch, you sell 10 of the day, you make $5,000.
- 33:05My expense today to open my store is $100,000 a month.
- 33:09Break even.
- 33:13So we got to sell.
- 33:14We're going to have 10 employees.
- 33:15We have, how many we have, Rafa?
- 33:18Downstairs, we have six.
- 33:19Upstairs, we have another seven, maybe.
- 33:21Is that the best way to play the watch game?
- 33:24To do the volume?
- 33:25It's no profit.
- 33:26It's volume.
- 33:27Do guys try and do like huge margin?
- 33:30Yeah, but then the customer finds out and never comes back.
- 33:33So me, I'm different.
- 33:34I try to, people are like, where are you different than everybody else?
- 33:36So two things.
- 33:37I like to teach a customer before he buys.
- 33:40He was like, I want this watch.
- 33:41Like, bro, I mean, I'll sell it to you, but,
- 33:44You're on your own when you want to sell it tomorrow because there's no profit here.
- 33:47There's no margins.
- 33:48It won't go up.
- 33:48You're going to lose 40% of your money, X, Y, Z. I wouldn't buy it.
- 33:52Another guy would be like, yeah, it's such a nice watch.
- 33:54Buy it, bang him, and call it a day.
- 33:56I mean, I like to build like a family relationship style.
- 33:58I'll educate him.
- 33:59Tell him, don't buy it today.
- 34:00Go home.
- 34:01Think about it.
- 34:01Come back tomorrow.
- 34:02And a lot of people, when they come to do business with you, are they looking for a watch to flip and make a profit?
- 34:08Or are they just looking for a style they love?
- 34:10So most style they love, and then you have the ones like, oh, am I going to make money?
- 34:14No, you'll make money not today, but probably in the next couple of years you will.
- 34:18That's the trend that's been going for the past seven years.
- 34:21So what's going to change?
- 34:24Money has no value.
- 34:26It's getting worse and worse every year, right?
- 34:27I was laughing.
- 34:28We just came back from Japan.
- 34:31And we were looking at watches.
- 34:32Best market in the world.
- 34:34It is good, but it's not... Birkins, everything I buy in Japan.
- 34:38I sell Birkins.
- 34:38I sell everything I buy from Japan.
- 34:41Okay, we got to go visit them after.
- 34:42So she got three.
- 34:44They say it's like B quality.
- 34:46It looks like brand new.
- 34:47That's what she's saying.
- 34:48Everything by them is top, top, top.
- 34:50But I noticed that the Birkins you can get in Japan, they are like 30% off plus what you can get them at in the US.
- 35:00But the watches are not the same discount.
- 35:02Some are.
- 35:02Not 30%, but some are different.
- 35:04So Japan has their own market.
- 35:07I'll go to Japan also.
- 35:08I used to go every month to Tokyo.
- 35:09When I was trying to figure out your Hong Kong strategy, I was wondering if Japan was part of that market.
- 35:12Japan is the... China and Japan are the both.
- 35:15Japan is different.
- 35:16Japan is more... You know, more respectful than Japan.
- 35:20So much manners.
- 35:22You know, China's different.
- 35:23It's like New York City, right?
- 35:25They push you.
- 35:25There's no excuse me.
- 35:27Japan is more like South hospitality.
- 35:29Yeah.
- 35:30Right.
- 35:31Their bags are... Wow.
- 35:35I promise I used to buy bags.
- 35:35I'm like, oh, it's not the best condition.
- 35:37I'm like, all right, let me see it.
- 35:38They sent it to me.
- 35:39I'm like, this shit looks brand new.
- 35:40What's wrong with you?
- 35:41For them, if there's like a little hairline, for them, it's a B.
- 35:46To get an A plus on their bags, so they grade it with A to, you know?
- 35:49Now the grading goes, A, A plus, they have the grading with their bags.
- 35:52For them to grade it at an A plus, it has to be brand new.
- 35:57But most of their bags are A, in my opinion.
- 36:00But they call it B plus, and...
- 36:02the lower the grade, the lower the price is.
- 36:05I would look at C grade and be like, you know what?
- 36:06Who cares if it's used a little bit?
- 36:07If I can save $3,000, what's the difference?
- 36:12Or more.
- 36:12Yeah, they're gonna wear it anyway.
- 36:14Well, I was laughing because I think the girl math on the Birkin is, hey, let's buy this, this is a great price.
- 36:20And then she's like showing me the price online and she's like, hey, look at what we can sell it for.
- 36:25I'm like, don't fucking lie to me.
- 36:26You're never gonna sell this shit.
- 36:27And even if you are, you're not gonna get that price.
- 36:29They just, online is an illusion.
- 36:31People come, oh, I have this watch I sell.
- 36:32Online it's for 30 grand.
- 36:33So why is it still for sale?
- 36:34Because that's cheap.
- 36:37It's not for sale.
- 36:37It's online for a reason.
- 36:38They can't sell it.
- 36:39They put it online.
- 36:40I see these YouTube videos of, you know, they probably are going into Diamond District and they're trying to sell these watches and then somebody's, you know, going into it with a little lupa and taking a look.
- 36:55But for the average person,
- 36:57What's the advice to them?
- 36:58Because nobody... Buy from somebody you know.
- 37:00Let's make the assumption nobody's trying to buy fake shit.
- 37:03Of course not.
- 37:03So the average person, if you can't tell and you need to open up the back and you need to have like a little microscope to go in, the average person's like screwed.
- 37:12So you got to buy from somebody you know.
- 37:15Somebody you trust.
- 37:16So by me, if you come to me, you buy from me, right?
- 37:19And you just tell them, you can come back to me.
- 37:21It's like, listen, this watch is not authentic.
- 37:23We got to get a letter from Rolex, of course.
- 37:25Everybody can swap parts.
- 37:26If you give me a letter and you come back, you have somebody you trust.
- 37:28That's how this whole business is based on trust.
- 37:31So we're in a business where I can take $10 million on somebody with no contract.
- 37:36That's from the word Mazal.
- 37:37I get $10 million in merchandise.
- 37:40No contract, no nothing.
- 37:41And if I screw them, tough luck.
- 37:44What are you going to do?
- 37:45There's no contract.
- 37:46No contract?
- 37:47I need money to go to the police?
- 37:48I'm sorry, I have the money.
- 37:50But we don't do that because we're men.
- 37:52We keep our word.
- 37:53Where did that come from?
- 37:54Was this always a Diamond District thing?
- 37:57Always.
- 37:59It's crazy.
- 38:00Can you imagine?
- 38:01Imagine buying a house based on a handshake.
- 38:03No, it's nuts.
- 38:04Because how much money flows through Diamond District?
- 38:08Billions, I'm sure.
- 38:09Billions.
- 38:10It's the biggest.
- 38:10It's like the financial district.
- 38:11It's like Wall Street.
- 38:12It's the dynasty of the world.
- 38:14Everything comes through 47th Street.
- 38:15First stop.
- 38:17First stop.
- 38:18And can you imagine every corner like this, this competition?
- 38:22Yeah.
- 38:24Everybody makes money.
- 38:25It's crazy.
- 38:27It's crazy.
- 38:30The only job I'll trade it for is I always want to be a doctor.
- 38:32So that was my dream to be a plastic surgeon.
- 38:34I think about it every day.
- 38:35And that's the only job I would want to do for one day besides what I do.
- 38:37Now I'm nothing else.
- 38:39Nothing else.
- 38:40Why?
- 38:41Why do you want to be a doctor?
- 38:42I don't know.
- 38:42When I was younger, I wanted to be a plastic surgeon.
- 38:43And I went to my dad.
- 38:44I said, I want to go to college.
- 38:45He goes, you're never going to college.
- 38:46There's girls there and you're going to mingle with them.
- 38:49And I'm like, I want to be a doctor.
- 38:50He's like, yeah, you're going to be a doctor for the souls.
- 38:51You're going to be a spiritual doctor.
- 38:54Fuck.
- 38:56So every day, you hear a crazy story.
- 38:58We're sitting outside.
- 38:59I'm sitting in some apartment in the pool.
- 39:01And I have, there's a guy there like, oh, I follow you now.
- 39:04Well, you're the watch guy.
- 39:04I said, yeah.
- 39:05Like, I'm a plastic surgeon.
- 39:06I'm like, no way.
- 39:07And he's talking to me like, I always wanted to do jewelry.
- 39:09And I'm like, so why don't you do it?
- 39:10He goes, my mom made me go to college.
- 39:11He said, you want to hear something?
- 39:12I want to be a doctor.
- 39:14You want my job?
- 39:15I want your job.
- 39:16Grass is always greener.
- 39:17And he's like, you don't want to do what I do?
- 39:19I said, I just want to do it for one day.
- 39:23Because I have that dream every day in my brain.
- 39:25So I just want to try it for one day.
- 39:30It's never going to happen.
- 39:31I'm not going to college for another eight years of my life.
- 39:34But that was, yeah.

- 41:23Now, quick question.
- 41:24Do you know where your money went last month?
- 41:26Not roughly, but exactly.
- 41:27And most people don't.
- 41:28and I didn't for years, and that is most of our money stories, right?
- 41:32When we first started our career, we have one income and one account, and you can kind of wing it, but once you're running businesses, once you're investing, once you're carrying 50 different subscriptions that you stop paying attention to, winging it gets super expensive.
- 41:44Monarch fixed that for me.
- 41:45It is the personal finance app that tracks everything.
- 41:47Everything.
- 41:48So that means accounts, investments, savings goals, spending all on one screen.
- 41:52The first week I had it, it fired recurring charges.
- 41:54I've been paying for months without realizing.
- 41:56And every single week, the AI recap tells me if spending spiked, if my net worth moved and what bills are coming.
- 42:01And I can just ask it, Hey, can I afford this trip without touching my savings?
- 42:05And I can get a real answer based on my actual numbers.
- 42:08It is a financial advisor in your pocket.
- 42:10It costs less than an hour with a real one.

- 42:23When you do business on 47th Street, I want to talk about some of the business lessons because I think the way everybody does business in this Diamond District is very, very interesting.
- 42:35You mentioned like Mazal, that's a handshake.
- 42:39That's a contract for millions of dollars.
- 42:42That's just the way it's always been.
- 42:46And nobody violates that.
- 42:47They do.
- 42:48Just don't work with them anymore.
- 42:51They do.
- 42:52There's plenty of people who do, but they don't last long.
- 42:56It's how you're up.
- 42:57It's how you're born.
- 42:58It's like you have a guilty conscience or not.
- 43:00People can come and take advantage of that, but you'll smell a scammer from a while away.
- 43:0595% of people on 407J are honest.
- 43:07I know that has a bad rep. Everybody's like, ugh.
- 43:10They're very, very good people.
- 43:12Very.
- 43:12They just want to make money.
- 43:13Everybody tries to make money.
- 43:15But they'll never scam you, never sell you something fake.
- 43:17They'll never lie to you.
- 43:18I mean, they won't lie.
- 43:19They'll tell you something just to make a sale, but they'll never steal your money and be like, you know what?
- 43:23Go screw yourself.
- 43:25Never.
- 43:26They have too much of a reputation.
- 43:27Rent is $20,000, $30,000 a month.
- 43:29He's going to sit there and run away because he sold you a watch for $8,000 that's fake?
- 43:34It doesn't make sense.
- 43:35People don't see the day-to-day, right?
- 43:37People don't look at it.
- 43:37People are like, whatever.
- 43:40It's not a nine-to-five in corporate America.
- 43:42There's no higher-ups.
- 43:43Let me talk to your manager.
- 43:46I am the manager.
- 43:46I'm the boss.
- 43:47What do you want to do?
- 43:48There's no such thing.
- 43:49There's no lawyers.
- 43:49There's no lawyers.
- 43:51we're men like back in the day you know when men would fight yeah I saw this show called the last kingdom like damn that's how people were fight back in the day it's 47th Street it's the wild wild west man go there one day you they'll suck you in from every corner come in come in you want to buy you want to sell you'll you'll go look at Birkin's after you're gonna get overstimulated she's gonna find something that he's triple the price and not triple like 30% more than Japan yeah I have no doubt first offer is your best offer what does that mean
- 44:18I mean, it means that you have an offer, you're making money, don't be greedy, sell it.
- 44:25I learned it out of my own blood.
- 44:27I'll tell you, I bought a 5711 Tiffany back in COVID.
- 44:30I paid $290,000.
- 44:33We paid $290,000.
- 44:35We had an offer $320,000.
- 44:36We said no.
- 44:38Wash dropped to like $200,000 and still dropping.
- 44:43David Dobrik walks to my store one day.
- 44:45I met him.
- 44:46He walked in.
- 44:46David Dobrik.
- 44:47His energy is insane.
- 44:49He's like, oh, I like this watch.
- 44:52I showed him a bunch of watches.
- 44:53I want this one.
- 44:53I said, 200 grand.
- 44:54He said, no.
- 44:56All right, let's flip 100 or 200,000.
- 44:58This is two years ago.
- 45:00He's like, okay.
- 45:02I'm like, fuck.
- 45:03I don't think he's going to say okay.
- 45:06I'm like, shit, this is the biggest flip of my life.
- 45:08100 grand on a watch.
- 45:09We're already in the hole.
- 45:11We already paid $290,000.
- 45:13The most we're going to get out of it is 200.
- 45:15If I got 200, if I got 150, I would have been happy.
- 45:18And it was so hectic then.
- 45:20He's like, okay, stop the camera.
- 45:21He's like, listen, I'll take it for 150 right now.
- 45:25My partner said no.
- 45:26And my partner is the last guy.
- 45:28He doesn't even gamble at all.
- 45:30He's anti it.
- 45:32He'll play like 500,000.
- 45:34It's not like this big flip.
- 45:35He's like, let's do it.
- 45:35Because he opened his mouth.
- 45:37I want to do it.
- 45:38We're men.
- 45:39Wow.
- 45:39Like Z, no way.
- 45:40All right, let's do it.
- 45:42We lost the flip.
- 45:43He flipped.
- 45:44He won.
- 45:45He felt so bad.
- 45:45I said, David, why do you feel bad, man?
- 45:48First offer.
- 45:49I had offer 320.
- 45:50I sold it for 100 grand.
- 45:51That's your rule now.
- 45:53First offer is best offer.
- 45:54Always take it, man.
- 45:55Because look, let's say you offer me on something.
- 45:58I say no.
- 45:58I leave.
- 45:58I come back and tell me I don't want it.
- 45:59Now you hoard it out.
- 46:00Right?
- 46:01Right?
- 46:03Let's say we're in the same business.
- 46:06You want to buy this property and I tell you, oh, you give me an offer I'm making.
- 46:09And I say, no, and I'm going to go to the market for another two weeks and I'm going to come back to you.
- 46:12Like, I don't want to know.
- 46:13You hoard it out.
- 46:14Who am I going to sell it to now?
- 46:15It's just because people are greedy.
- 46:17We're all greedy.
- 46:19My dad told me a lesson.
- 46:20I started like, listen, son, you can't put 10 fingers in your mouth.
- 46:23You're going to choke.
- 46:23Try.
- 46:24But you can put five.
- 46:25Five is enough.
- 46:26Don't put 10.
- 46:27It's wise.
- 46:28It is wise.
- 46:29I think that all the traditional sales wisdom is to anchor high, negotiate, get the best.
- 46:38None of this first offer, take it, and move on.
- 46:41But there's something about speed, too.
- 46:43There's something about speed.
- 46:44For me, it's turnaround, turnover.
- 46:46It's how much money I make on my money a month.
- 46:48It's not about how much.
- 46:49You know, when I started, one guy told me, I remember, his name is David SW.
- 46:55If you look him up, he's the biggest online guy in the world.
- 46:58Like, he's huge.
- 46:59Quiet guy, bro.
- 47:01This was 2014.
- 47:02I went to a show.
- 47:03I'll never forget.
- 47:04He had, I bought two stainless steel Daytonas for $8,900.
- 47:07I swear.
- 47:10He had a showcase, nine watches.
- 47:12I bought three of the Daytonas from out of the nine.
- 47:15And I went to see him in Orlando.
- 47:17He's like, come, let me show you how much, let me show you like my safe.
- 47:19Bro, he had merchandise?
- 47:21I'm like, what?
- 47:21Like, David, why don't you bring it to the show?
- 47:23He said, son, let me tell you, let me teach you something.
- 47:26It doesn't matter how much merchandise you have.
- 47:28It matters how much money you make.
- 47:30Don't fall for the illusion.
- 47:31You have a full showcase of watches, but you're not making any money.
- 47:34Have zero watches, but every month, make sure you're making that money.
- 47:37Forget what people think about you.
- 47:39And that stuck with me, bro.
- 47:40Like, that guy is a genius.
- 47:44Don't fall in love with your own supply.
- 47:45Correct.
- 47:47Never.
- 47:49Sell everything.
- 47:50Don't feel attached to it.
- 47:50You can always replace it.
- 47:53If you can replace something for the same price you sold it for, you sell it.
- 47:56If you can replace something for the same price that you sold it for, then you're not a good salesperson.
- 48:00No, but you have to sell it.
- 48:01If I can, let's say I had an offer $160,000.
- 48:04I can replace it for $155,000, but I paid $140,000.
- 48:06You sell it and you replace it again.
- 48:08Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:08If people don't do that, like, oh, I want to get more money.
- 48:11I want to get another $5,000.
- 48:12All the worst habits are just all tied back to greed.
- 48:15Correct.
- 48:16For example, right, let's say you lend hard money.
- 48:19How much is your money worth every month?
- 48:212%, let's say, average.
- 48:22Hard money, not like bank money, 2% a month.
- 48:25So every month that I watch on your showcase, it costs you 2% more because you could have
- 48:30Lent that money out.
- 48:31You know, I see this so much with real estate too.
- 48:34When people don't sell the house because they're not hitting their price.
- 48:36They get greedy and then they... And it's like six months.
- 48:40It's a year.
- 48:40And then it's sitting on the market and people are looking up.
- 48:43Why was it not... And you're paying that mortgage or whatever the hell it is.
- 48:47So the price keeps on going up.
- 48:49People don't understand that.
- 48:49I got my price.
- 48:50Yeah, eight months later, you could have taken that money and turned it over three more times.
- 48:54It's all about turnarounds.
- 48:56All of your business knowledge, you didn't learn any of it in the classroom at all.
- 48:59You never went to school, didn't get an MBA.
- 49:01I came to 47th grade.
- 49:01I was the quietest kid in the world.
- 49:02I was shy.
- 49:03I was embarrassed from everybody.
- 49:05Couldn't say hi to me.
- 49:05I'll put my head down.
- 49:06I would never talk.
- 49:07Do you think that not going to school and not going to business school was actually an advantage?
- 49:12Yes and no, but I wish I went to school, in my opinion, because the more you know, the better you become.
- 49:18How much better are you doing than the average MBA?
- 49:21Yeah, but at least he's smart enough to open a company that he can exit, not me.
- 49:25I'll never come.
- 49:26I can't sell this company.
- 49:28We're the company and we sell it.
- 49:29We're done.
- 49:30You're going to come and buy it for $30 million?
- 49:32Then what are you going to do?
- 49:35You need me there.
- 49:36You need my partner there.
- 49:39Plus and minus to everything.
- 49:40I teach my kids all the time to go to school.
- 49:43I want to be a wild girl.
- 49:43I told my son, no, you don't.
- 49:45It's the worst business in the world.
- 49:46Go to college.
- 49:47Got a degree.
- 49:48And then tomorrow you can come here anytime.
- 49:49It's not going anywhere.
- 49:50You couldn't pass this on to your kids?
- 49:52I don't want them to do it.
- 49:54It's a cutthroat business.
- 49:57There's no God in our business.
- 49:59There's no loyalty.
- 50:01Why are you saying that when, on one hand, you're saying you do deals with a handshake and a word?
- 50:05But there's no loyalty.
- 50:08I got screwed by somebody.
- 50:11In three years ago, four years ago, for me and my partner, I got screwed for $2 million.
- 50:15My partner got screwed for $600,000.
- 50:17And people still work with that man.
- 50:20They don't care.
- 50:22I didn't get screwed.
- 50:22They tell them me, so we'll still work with him.
- 50:25But they'll still pay me the money they owe me, but that's not loyal.
- 50:27You know what I mean?
- 50:30Let's say me and you were in business.
- 50:34They and them two found out that me and you had a thing and I screwed you for $3 million.
- 50:42And they're all your friends.
- 50:43But they're still doing business with you.
- 50:44There's no loyalty, but they'll still pay their bills.
- 50:47They're not loyal.
- 50:48Do you really think that other kinds of businesses are better?
- 50:52I'm saying in our business, there's no loyalty.
- 50:53There's nothing.
- 50:54They don't even care.
- 50:56They'll sit with you on the table and talk shit behind your back.
- 50:59I have no friends for that reason.
- 51:00Zero.
- 51:03Zero.
- 51:05No friends.
- 51:06No friends in the business or no friends?
- 51:07What do you mean at all?
- 51:08I don't know.
- 51:08I have five people I can count on my hands in my life that I talk to every day.
- 51:12And that's it.
- 51:16My twin brother, my partner, and one kid named Ben C. is my best friend.
- 51:19That's it.
- 51:20Nobody else.
- 51:22I have acquaintances.
- 51:23But there's a line where I draw.
- 51:27I turned 40 years old this year.
- 51:28You know what I did?
- 51:28Nothing.
- 51:29I'm going to bring a bunch of haters.
- 51:31I'm going to celebrate and talk shit behind my back.
- 51:33I don't need that.
- 51:36where you are so pessimistic about people.
- 51:38It's true.
- 51:39I've been burned so many times.
- 51:44Best people are the...
- 51:45I mean, you can count on your hands.
- 51:48Yeah.
- 51:49Right?
- 51:51I'm not.
- 51:52This is just my personal opinion.
- 51:54Most people are haters.
- 51:55They're all jealous.
- 51:56The only person you're not jealous of is your son.
- 51:58You want your kids to be better than you are.
- 52:00Everybody else, you want to be better than them.
- 52:03So what's the point?
- 52:05What's the point of sitting with somebody, eating with him, and then tomorrow you get up and he talks shit behind your back?
- 52:12What I gain out of you?
- 52:13I've never in my life ever, ever not been happy for my friend's success.
- 52:19Truly.
- 52:20Truly.
- 52:21Legitimately.
- 52:21They don't make people like you.
- 52:23There's a lot of people in my friend group that are worth way more than me.
- 52:27Yeah, me too.
- 52:28I'm probably the poorest guy in my group.
- 52:30People are probably the smallest fish on 40th.
- 52:32I don't care.
- 52:33I don't care what anybody else does.
- 52:34Well, look what he did.
- 52:35I don't give a shit.
- 52:37It's his life.
- 52:38I have mentors I talk to, but they're not.
- 52:40You can't be friends with a mentor.
- 52:42Like Eric is my mentor, a guy named Eric Bonardi.
- 52:44He's an Italian guy.
- 52:45Look, 40th century is run by Jews.
- 52:4799% are all Jews.
- 52:48But the biggest dog is Croatian.
- 52:51That's funny.
- 52:52He's my mentor.
- 52:53And he told me, you want to be successful?
- 52:55Don't run a business like those people downstairs.
- 52:58Be straight.
- 52:59Be honest.
- 53:00Teach people.
- 53:01And then be successful.
- 53:02That's what I do.
- 53:04So, he's not my boy because he's my mentor.
- 53:07So I look up to him.
- 53:07You know what I mean?
- 53:08So I can't call him like, yo, bro, you want to chill?
- 53:10I look up to him like he's a rabbi.
- 53:14My dad was that way.
- 53:15My dad had no friends.
- 53:17He's a leader of community.
- 53:17He's like, I don't need friends.
- 53:20You got to hold yourself
- 53:23So right now in your life, it's laid out.
- 53:25So you have a business that you work 24-7 at.
- 53:28You have no exit plan.
- 53:29There is no exit plan.
- 53:30I know there's no exit plan.
- 53:31That's my point.
- 53:31There's no strategy.
- 53:32Who's going to buy into my business?
- 53:34There's no, you're saying you have five friends, but no one outside of your close circle.
- 53:38You didn't celebrate anyone or no one celebrated you on your 40th birthday.
- 53:41Well, I don't care about it.
- 53:44So what does your life look like in 10 years, 20 years?
- 53:47Hopefully I can make this place a better place than I was when I came in here.
- 53:49That's my life.
- 53:50That's my goal.
- 53:51That's why I give these kids an opportunity.
- 53:53Why would I, people are like, how do you trust these kids?
- 53:54They're going to run away with your watches.
- 53:56So why would somebody run away if I'm giving an opportunity to make money?
- 53:58You got to be dumb.
- 54:00If you give me an opportunity to make money, why would I screw you?
- 54:02I'm going to sit and latch onto you like a leaf so I can make money.
- 54:07So you see the negative mindset of the world, right?
- 54:09How are we going to screw and take the money right away?
- 54:11Where I look at it like, no.
- 54:13If he screws you for $10,000, shame on him.
- 54:16Never happened.
- 54:17We drew in it for how long?
- 54:18Almost a year, blessed.
- 54:20Not one kid ever tried to run away.
- 54:23And we gave kids 60, $70,000 watches.
- 54:25When you work with these kids, is there like a personality trait that you see in a kid?
- 54:32Yeah, some of them you know they're going to be good.
- 54:34He knows.
- 54:35Rafa knows.
- 54:36He's with them because he records.
- 54:38He told me some kids, like, they're not good.
- 54:41And so I was like, wow, this kid is.
- 54:43You know whose kid was crazy?
- 54:45You remember Anthony Weiner?
- 54:47Yeah, yeah.
- 54:48His son came to do a squid game.
- 54:49For real?
- 54:50That kid is sharp.
- 54:52Like that kid stood out to me.
- 54:54There's three kids that's like, whoa.
- 54:58Anthony Weiner's son stood out to me, bro.
- 55:01I was like, remember him?
- 55:02He came?
- 55:04Wow, that kid is sharp, bro.
- 55:06So what makes somebody good in this game?
- 55:08Confidence.
- 55:09Confidence?
- 55:10It's a shark tank out there, man.
- 55:11It's all confidence.
- 55:13And I love to give these kids.
- 55:14And when they don't sell, I feel like shit.
- 55:16Like, oh, because I want them to be.
- 55:18They come, they're so excited.
- 55:19And they can't sell.
- 55:20And I feel like I let them down.
- 55:22Did you give him a second chance?
- 55:24No.
- 55:25Maybe one or two, but they come, like, because then I'm not going to have enough for the other kids.
- 55:29Right?
- 55:30So I started the content doing flipping.
- 55:32Flipping college was excited.
- 55:33That Dobrik flip, was that the first flip ever?
- 55:35No, I flipped before that.
- 55:36That's how I got back to my gambling.
- 55:38So we started social media.
- 55:40This is February 2nd, 2023.
- 55:43We started social media.
- 55:44I'm like, let me try TikTok.
- 55:47I had an office.
- 55:48Like, let me try.
- 55:49I told my partner, like, listen, I'm going to go downstairs.
- 55:51I'm going to try TikTok because everybody's doing it now.
- 55:57So let me try TikTok.
- 56:00Let's see how it works.
- 56:01And first video, I got 10,000 views.
- 56:03I'm like, Jesus, I'm on to something, right?
- 56:06And I was so shy.
- 56:07I was so camera shy.
- 56:08I was so nervous.
- 56:09I made the idea like a thousand times.
- 56:10But I learned now, be yourself.
- 56:13The camera's not even there.
- 56:16So I started flipping coins, because everybody else was doing it.
- 56:18I said, don't be flip.
- 56:20I did it with Moses.
- 56:21He came to my office one time, like, yo, let's flip a coin.
- 56:24And it stuck.
- 56:24So I said, that's going to be my niche.
- 56:26He was already doing social?
- 56:27Social, but no flips.
- 56:28He used to come by for me in my office.
- 56:31Before I did social, he's like, yo, let's flip a coin.
- 56:33He's like, let's do it.
- 56:33So we started flipping on 47th Street, me and him.
- 56:37And I was like, you know, it's going to be my niche.
- 56:38I started flipping coins every time.
- 56:40And customers would just come just to gamble and flip, flip, flip, flip.
- 56:42I wouldn't lose money.
- 56:43I would just either make, break even, or make.
- 56:46So then people tell me, how are you a gambler?
- 56:48And I said, just like gambling, I'm not losing money.
- 56:51Dobrik, I lost.
- 56:52Dobrik, you lost big.
- 56:53Lost big.
- 56:55But I'm like, you know, it's getting old already.
- 56:57What can I do to make?
- 56:57So I'm thinking, thinking.
- 56:58I'm like, what can I?
- 56:59So one time a kid came to me, he was eight years old.
- 57:01He was like, can I try to sell a watch for you?
- 57:05No, he came, he was like, yeah, I was like, you know, why don't you go?
- 57:08You were with me then, right, Ralph?
- 57:10You were with me.
- 57:11I used to give my son in the summertime watches to go sell.
- 57:14I would take videos of him and show him.
- 57:15I was like, you know, let me try.
- 57:18A kid came, eight year old kid.
- 57:20Like, I follow you.
- 57:21I want to get in the business.
- 57:21Like, you want to get in the business?
- 57:22I said, all right, try sell this watch for you.
- 57:24See how
- 57:27He went, he sold it.
- 57:27I'm like, recall Squid Games.
- 57:29Here we go.
- 57:31Then I made a video.
- 57:32Then the next day, 20 kids showed it.
- 57:34I was like, got two or three a day?
- 57:36Because it takes about like 40 minutes to go around.
- 57:39And that's what happened.
- 57:41I do it every day.
- 57:42And I do it to help these kids.
- 57:43Everybody's made for school.
- 57:45And they love and they watch us all the time.
- 57:47So let's give back to these children.
- 57:50Instead of being on the streets.
- 57:51So why would you go on the streets?
- 57:53I told him you want to go out.
- 57:53I have these teenagers coming.
- 57:55Like you guys want to go out with girls.
- 57:56Have a good time.
- 57:57Yeah.
- 57:57At least you have money in your pocket.
- 57:58Instead of committing a crime and trying to pay for it.
- 58:00Make money.
- 58:01Maybe learn a career.
- 58:02So I got robbed exactly July 23rd last year.
- 58:06Right.
- 58:07And I met some guy.
- 58:10who's a Harvard grad genius.
- 58:12His name is Anand.
- 58:13They call him ICE.
- 58:14And he went to Harvard, Stanford.
- 58:16He used to work for Bank of America, like 300 employees.
- 58:18He came up with an idea, and he told me, let's do it.
- 58:20We invented something.
- 58:21It was about exit strategy.
- 58:22We invented a jewelry program where we sell a membership for $100 a year, and you get our jewelry at our cost.
- 58:30So if you're a member of my jewelry program for $100 a year, anything you see on the website or anything you see in my store, whatever my cost is,
- 58:38That's what you get it for.
- 58:40Hopefully we can build that shit up to be like a Costco.
- 58:42That's not a bad program.
- 58:44$100 a year.
- 58:45Not a month.
- 58:46A year.
- 58:47$8 a month.
- 58:48You spend more on Starbucks coffee.
- 58:49A hundred percent.
- 58:50So lab studs, which I would sell for $2,500, I sold for $900.
- 58:54That's not a bad program at all.
- 58:56You just got a subscriber.
- 58:59I think that's my exit strategy.
- 59:01Like people are like, oh, so this is not my idea because I couldn't think of it because I'm so focused.
- 59:05That was Ice's idea.
- 59:07And he's like, bro, you got to do this and whatever.
- 59:09Because when I got robbed, he's like, he based the whole robbery on trust.
- 59:15Well, explain.
- 59:15So go back to it.
- 59:16So you're killing it on social, which ironically is great for business, but also leads to a lot of eyeballs looking at you.
- 59:23This is what led to the robbery.
- 59:25July 23rd.
- 59:26It was 10 a.m. And I walked out of my house.
- 59:30I'll never forget it.
- 59:31And I was going to my car and I see a guy running with a construction suit.
- 59:37I turn around.
- 59:38It's a tall guy with a mask and he pulls out a gun.
- 59:41I thought it was a real gun.
- 59:42It was a taser.
- 59:42So it's not the tasers that come close.
- 59:44It's the ones that shoot out.
- 59:46The ones the cop use.
- 59:47That shit is powerful, bro.
- 59:50Hit me here, on my leg here.
- 59:52One hit here, and then one missed hit me right on my belt.
- 59:57And I was running.
- 1:00:00And then I couldn't run anymore.
- 1:00:01I felt shaking like a drop.
- 1:00:05My body just gave up.
- 1:00:07You can't.
- 1:00:07You just take your whole body electrocuted.
- 1:00:11They took everything within like 40 seconds and bounced.
- 1:00:14This is New York City.
- 1:00:15They still didn't find him.
- 1:00:16These guys are still on the loose.
- 1:00:19And then social media, I went on.
- 1:00:21So they posted it because I went viral.
- 1:00:23I'm like, oh, you insurance scam, you scammer.
- 1:00:25You know, all those Calvinists.
- 1:00:27But how do they move a piece like that without it being flagged?
- 1:00:30Sell to somebody.
- 1:00:31He doesn't say he buys it.
- 1:00:32He takes it overseas on his gun.
- 1:00:36It's not her.
- 1:00:37It's not a car.
- 1:00:38Little thing.
- 1:00:39You wear it.
- 1:00:41Go overseas.
- 1:00:42You sell it to different countries.
- 1:00:43That's it.
- 1:00:46Each country has their own.
- 1:00:47Like in America, they'll take a watch that's stolen from you.
- 1:00:49If you go to like, let's say, Richard Mill, they'll put it in.
- 1:00:52Like, oh, watch it's stolen.
- 1:00:52It goes back to its owner.
- 1:00:54They just don't sell it here.
- 1:00:55Yeah.
- 1:00:55In China, it's stolen.
- 1:00:56We're not going to take care of it.
- 1:00:58Enjoy.
- 1:00:58Did you ever think of hiring security to...
- 1:01:01That's security.
- 1:01:02So funny, the next day was David Dobrik's birthday.
- 1:01:04So I had to fly out the next day to LA.
- 1:01:06And people are like, oh, you're going to go?
- 1:01:08I'm going to sit home and cry about it.
- 1:01:09You got to move on in life.
- 1:01:11You know, people sit there and I still have, I'm still scared on my ass sometimes at night or whatever.
- 1:01:18listen traumatic like yeah i'll turn around every minute to see who's behind me just but you can't stop doing what you do you can't stop working you can't stop moving high security one higher security and i paid him a good amount of money and one time i asked him to bring my son from work and he said i'm not your driver and i said okay so you're fired
- 1:01:43I said, if you're not going to pick up my son from the city when I ask you to, and you're on my payroll, have a nice day.
- 1:01:49And not for a second you ever thought, I'm going to post less, I'm not going to be used.
- 1:01:54No, so that's what happens.
- 1:01:55Great question.
- 1:01:55I was thinking about that.
- 1:01:56I was like, I'm done.
- 1:01:59It's not for me anymore.
- 1:02:00And this rabbi, which...
- 1:02:04He's like the big dogs.
- 1:02:07He's like LeBron goes to him.
- 1:02:08Kanye goes to him.
- 1:02:09He's like a big rabbi.
- 1:02:11And I went to see him.
- 1:02:13Before I was flying to Dobrik's birthday, I'm like, rabbi, I'm scared.
- 1:02:16And I'm going to stop.
- 1:02:18That was that night.
- 1:02:19Out of nowhere.
- 1:02:19I didn't see this rabbi in 10 years.
- 1:02:20Some guy called me.
- 1:02:21Look how God works.
- 1:02:22Oh, this rabbi, I want to see you.
- 1:02:23Come.
- 1:02:24And he's like, you're not going to stop.
- 1:02:26You're going to go harder.
- 1:02:28You're going to go better.
- 1:02:29You're not going to fall to those people.
- 1:02:31Show them that you're not scared.
- 1:02:33You got my blessing.
- 1:02:33Keep on doing it.
- 1:02:36It's all right.
- 1:02:38So I did it.
- 1:02:39I'm still here.
- 1:02:43I don't think, do you want me to stop?
- 1:02:44I just wanted a quick lick.
- 1:02:46That's all.
- 1:02:47Yeah, but you've had other...
- 1:02:48Yeah, incidents.
- 1:02:49That wasn't a setup.
- 1:02:50That was already they follow you from a show.
- 1:02:52They see you wearing a nice wash.
- 1:02:53They follow you.
- 1:02:56They followed me for a month.
- 1:02:58Like I checked the cameras now.
- 1:02:59We checked the cameras.
- 1:03:00It was a month.
- 1:03:01Every day they would drive after me to work, see my routine.
- 1:03:04I'm a routine.
- 1:03:05I wake up, 8 o'clock, or the gym.
- 1:03:07I eat already.
- 1:03:07I come back.
- 1:03:08I leave the house.
- 1:03:09They already knew my routine.
- 1:03:11So they called me off guard one time.
- 1:03:12Do you think that you know who they are?
- 1:03:15No.
- 1:03:16No clue.
- 1:03:17No, no, I'm saying, like, do you feel like it's personal?
- 1:03:20Yeah, after me, yeah, of course.
- 1:03:21They just didn't care about me.
- 1:03:22They just wanted my merchandise.
- 1:03:24Because they took your Watch King logo chain and they threw it back at you.
- 1:03:27They did.
- 1:03:28They said, I can't have this.
- 1:03:30Because if they get caught, now, they're smart.
- 1:03:32They didn't come with a deadly weapon.
- 1:03:33So in New York City, they'll be out the next day.
- 1:03:36And they took my chain but left the logo.
- 1:03:39It was rose gold.
- 1:03:41They took the RM.
- 1:03:42They took some of my, I had Van Cleefs at the time
- 1:03:48big as like two and a half carat each.
- 1:03:53That was, they took that and they got away.
- 1:04:00But the next day I woke up, oh, the day got worse.
- 1:04:05Cops come to my house.
- 1:04:06They're like, watch, can you get in?
- 1:04:07So the cops know where I live.
- 1:04:08Like, watch, can you get in the car?
- 1:04:09Let's go chase him.
- 1:04:09We go chase him.
- 1:04:10We make a right turn.
- 1:04:12And God said, not today.
- 1:04:13We got T-balled.
- 1:04:14Boom.
- 1:04:15Car hits me so hard.
- 1:04:16I'm in the back of the cop car chasing the robbers.
- 1:04:19Yeah.
- 1:04:19Yeah, dislocated my shoulder.
- 1:04:20Ended up in the hospital.
- 1:04:23God said, not today, man.
- 1:04:24You deserve it.
- 1:04:25And this is what happened.
- 1:04:26I was like, God, like twice, you tried to kill me today.
- 1:04:28What do you want?
- 1:04:30Straight up, I was in the back of the hospital.
- 1:04:31I called my boy.
- 1:04:32So the Jews have their own private ambulance called Hatzalah.
- 1:04:36You call them within 60 seconds, they're by your house.
- 1:04:38I call my boy.
- 1:04:39I'm like, bro, I just got out of the car.
- 1:04:41I'm not waiting for that one.
- 1:04:42Get me.
- 1:04:42Came with the truck.
- 1:04:43Within 60 seconds, he took me.
- 1:04:45In the back of the truck, I'm like, God, what do you want from me?
- 1:04:48You just almost killed me twice today.
- 1:04:52I still don't know, but thank God we're alive.
- 1:04:55Next day, 6 a.m.
- 1:04:57I got on a flight to L.A., went to David Oberg's birthday like nothing happened.
- 1:05:00You just never stop.
- 1:05:01You just don't let.
- 1:05:02If you stop, you'll think.
- 1:05:05And you'll feel bad for yourself and think about it and overthink it.
- 1:05:09It'll happen.
- 1:05:10And even before then, you never had security?
- 1:05:13No.
- 1:05:14God is my security.
- 1:05:15And even now.
- 1:05:17I remember I had security then.
- 1:05:19The rabbi all came to me like, what is this?
- 1:05:22Fire them.
- 1:05:23But I fired him because he didn't want to take my son.
- 1:05:25Honestly, he didn't want to pick up my son all day from work.
- 1:05:26And I said, don't come back the next day.
- 1:05:28You know, it's funny because bringing this full circle, you walked away from a super religious community, but God has actually been like such an important piece of your life.
- 1:05:39God is not religion.
- 1:05:41They make God religion.
- 1:05:43God is our father.
- 1:05:46Our fathers love us unconditionally.
- 1:05:48Correct?
- 1:05:50Our fathers will die for us.
- 1:05:51I'll die for my children, nobody else.
- 1:05:53That's what life's about.
- 1:05:54That's what God is.
- 1:05:55God is our father.
- 1:05:55He'll die for us.
- 1:05:57Put his neck out for us.
- 1:05:59They don't teach you that in our religion.
- 1:06:03Maybe now they do, but back then they didn't.
- 1:06:05Back then was, God is scary and he's evil and...
- 1:06:09How is now, you know, fast forward, you're 40 now.
- 1:06:14Yes, sir.
- 1:06:15So it's been a minute since you walked away from that community and you've gone through a journey since.
- 1:06:24How's your relationship with your family now?
- 1:06:25Okay, whatever.
- 1:06:27It's fine.
- 1:06:28My dad is cool now.
- 1:06:29He's okay with it.
- 1:06:30My mom was always cool.
- 1:06:33I mean, my brother's mad religious, so I'm not, like, close to the children because he has 12 kids, and I don't want to, like, gosh, it would be the reason of something if something ever happens.
- 1:06:41Like, you know, so, but they're all nice.
- 1:06:43They're all amazing.
- 1:06:43Like, my brother's sisters, we talk a lot.
- 1:06:47My father's came up.
- 1:06:48My father finally accepted it probably in the past two years.
- 1:06:52Before that, not at all, but the past two years, he came more in terms with it, and...
- 1:06:58My mom was always amazing.
- 1:07:00But, you know, it's fine.
- 1:07:01It's harder for me in the community.
- 1:07:02I see them every day and they look at me, oh, you should be ashamed of yourself, you're the rabbi's son.
- 1:07:06Whatever, fuck off.
- 1:07:08So they continue walking.
- 1:07:10That's tough.
- 1:07:11That's very tough.
- 1:07:11I mean, at the end of the day, family is family.
- 1:07:16Like, I would love to have tattoos in the areas.
- 1:07:17I wouldn't do it because I'm still scared of my dad.
- 1:07:20But you have six siblings total.
- 1:07:23So you speak to your twin all the time, obviously.
- 1:07:25My oldest sister is 50.
- 1:07:28She has five kids, eight grandkids.
- 1:07:31I have 50.
- 1:07:32She has eight grandkids.
- 1:07:33My older brother is 47.
- 1:07:35My sister is 45.
- 1:07:36Me and my brother are 40.
- 1:07:38Now I have a sister that's turning 33.
- 1:07:43Now you're close with all of them?
- 1:07:45Yeah.
- 1:07:46Do you ever regret leaving the community at all?
- 1:07:49Not one bit.
- 1:07:50You're happy now that at least at this point.
- 1:07:52I'm happy, I hope.
- 1:07:53You're close with the whole family.
- 1:07:56Of course, I'm happy I'm close with my family.
- 1:07:57Do I regret leaving?
- 1:07:58No.
- 1:07:59I think the community is ruining these kids.
- 1:08:01And I talk about it all the time.
- 1:08:02They hate me for it, but it's okay.
- 1:08:04Okay.
- 1:08:04We'll play it.
- 1:08:05Why do you think?
- 1:08:05Why do you, what do you mean by?
- 1:08:06They're running.
- 1:08:08So it's not like you, you don't know what it's like.
- 1:08:10Like you can't talk to a girl until you're marrying her.
- 1:08:13You go out on two dates and you get married to her.
- 1:08:15Like you sit there and you can go out and make out with her, go to the movies.
- 1:08:18No, it doesn't work that way.
- 1:08:20Meet the parents.
- 1:08:21You see, that's your girl.
- 1:08:22It's like, okay, take her on two dates.
- 1:08:24The parents land and marries.
- 1:08:25And that's how you, so that's the only time you can touch her.
- 1:08:29Today it's not going to work.
- 1:08:32The social media, these kids want to explore themselves.
- 1:08:34They want to see, they want to experience.
- 1:08:35You can't tell them no.
- 1:08:36Are you going to threaten them?
- 1:08:38They're going to die?
- 1:08:38What are you going to do?
- 1:08:41Kids talk to me every day.
- 1:08:42They don't talk to their parents.
- 1:08:43They talk to me.
- 1:08:44So then what is the healthy place of religion?
- 1:08:47Be close.
- 1:08:47Be close to your parents.
- 1:08:49Be close to your children.
- 1:08:50Let them open up to you.
- 1:08:51They're going to do it regardless.
- 1:08:53Right?
- 1:08:53We were teenagers.
- 1:08:53We did what the hell we wanted.
- 1:08:54We liked our parents if they were straight.
- 1:08:57And we did it.
- 1:08:57And they thought we did it.
- 1:08:59So I'd rather you tell me.
- 1:09:01I'd rather my kids tell me.
- 1:09:03And I know.
- 1:09:04And I'll tell them, you want to go out with a girl?
- 1:09:05Let me drive you to her house.
- 1:09:08You dropped her off.
- 1:09:09She's going home.
- 1:09:09We're outside with her in the Uber until she gets home.
- 1:09:12Texts her.
- 1:09:13Is she okay?
- 1:09:14Then they feel like, oh, my God, my dad is okay with it.
- 1:09:17She's not going to go behind my back.
- 1:09:18In our community, everybody does it.
- 1:09:20They go behind their parents' back.
- 1:09:22See, that's not healthy either.
- 1:09:23No.
- 1:09:24So when you look at your relationship with your kids, what place does religion have?
- 1:09:29Zero.
- 1:09:30God, yes.
- 1:09:30Religion is zero.
- 1:09:31They're religious, though, but zero.
- 1:09:33I like the distinction.
- 1:09:35God is not religion.
- 1:09:37Not at all.
- 1:09:37God didn't choose one person, one religion.
- 1:09:41We did.
- 1:09:44Not God.
- 1:09:44We're all his children.
- 1:09:45Me, you, him, all of us here.
- 1:09:47We can be different color.
- 1:09:48We can be different this.
- 1:09:51He's our father.
- 1:09:52I think the biggest issue is that religion is so tied to God.
- 1:09:57When people don't want religion, they lose God.
- 1:10:00But that's what's wrong.
- 1:10:02That's the issue.
- 1:10:02That's what's wrong.
- 1:10:03And if you don't believe in God, I don't judge.
- 1:10:05That's on you.
- 1:10:06I have a lot of friends like, oh, I don't know.
- 1:10:08No problem.
- 1:10:09At least be kind to people.
- 1:10:10That's fine.
- 1:10:10If you don't believe in a higher power, you want to believe in big, big, that's fine.
- 1:10:13I respect your decision.
- 1:10:15I'm not going to sit there and convince him otherwise.
- 1:10:18The problem with today's world is either you're really right or there's really left.
- 1:10:21There's no middle ground.
- 1:10:23Middle is fine too.
- 1:10:25Both sides always have a point.
- 1:10:26One of my favorite quotes, I think it's from Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad, Poor Dad.
- 1:10:31And he said, every coin has three sides.
- 1:10:35Side one, side two, and the edge.
- 1:10:38And the edge is symbolic of holding two ideas, two conflicting ideas at the same time in your head.
- 1:10:45Understanding the nuance between the both and still functioning as a human being.
- 1:10:49So being able to understand that there's one argument, another argument, and both arguments have merit.
- 1:10:55Correct.
- 1:10:56They always do.
- 1:10:57Both sides, even in politics, the far left are nuts, the far right are nuts.
- 1:11:02There's always middle.
- 1:11:03I'm middle.
- 1:11:03I believe both sides have points.
- 1:11:04I just get along.
- 1:11:06So the reason why I didn't even mean when I sat down, I didn't mean to turn this into a conversation about religion or God.
- 1:11:12But what I'm actually really happy about is I think you are the healthiest version of somebody who left religion but kept God in their life.
- 1:11:24That's what I see from knowing you for an hour so far.
- 1:11:27Because my mom always told me, God bless her, she always told me, she goes, forget your dad and his religion fanatics.
- 1:11:31I'm telling you something they won't think.
- 1:11:34There's always God.
- 1:11:35He always sees what you do.
- 1:11:36Can't hide and never forget that.
- 1:11:38And for me, I believe because I've seen so many miracles in my life.
- 1:11:43It can't be like... You can't keep on coming back from the dead by luck.
- 1:11:48Like, come on.
- 1:11:50Once, okay, it's three times I lived a life.
- 1:11:52I lived three different lives.
- 1:11:54Lived a religious life, left, made money, lost it, gambled it away, made money again.
- 1:11:58Lost it, got fucked by a partner for $2.5 million, came back, started social media.
- 1:12:02I mean, my whole life, it's like a movie.
- 1:12:05And we're still here.
- 1:12:07And thank God.
- 1:12:09I mean...
- 1:12:11That's my personal, I don't want to shove it down anybody's throat.
- 1:12:14This is my personal opinion, you know?
- 1:12:17It's good, though.
- 1:12:17It's good.
- 1:12:18I think that, I'll just say one last thing on this, and I want to sort of move in a different direction, but I think that.
- 1:12:30when society loses God completely, I think that's when people are depressed, have anxiety, have sometimes no community, have nothing to really, not live for, but to a degree, they don't know why they're doing anything every single day.
- 1:12:49Like they just feel lost.
- 1:12:50And I think this is where a lot of things replace God.
- 1:12:53And another really powerful idea
- 1:12:56is that if you don't have a traditional god in your life, something else replaces it and becomes your god, which I also don't think is healthy.
- 1:13:03I'm with you 100%.
- 1:13:03You know, I also learned the blame game is very easy.
- 1:13:08So my dad always told me, if you point one finger this way, you have... How many fingers pointing this way?

- 1:14:38My fitness pal is a success story partner.
- 1:14:40On this show, I speak to tons of high performers and the people that sustain that high performance, not just sprint and crash and burn, but they actually sustain.
- 1:14:49They all treat nutrition like a system, not an afterthought.
- 1:14:52The same way they treat revenue or hiring or product.
- 1:14:55It is key to their business.
- 1:14:58They pay attention.
- 1:14:59They look at the data.
- 1:15:00And that really stuck with me.
- 1:15:02And it's how I started thinking about my own health and wellness and what I put into my own body.
- 1:15:06Not in like a restrictive diet way, but in a data way.
- 1:15:10See, most people take a look at daily calorie total and they think they have the full picture.
- 1:15:15That's just one number.
- 1:15:16The MyFitnessPal app premium.
- 1:15:18It shows me macros.
- 1:15:20That means proteins, carbs, fats, broken down by meal.
- 1:15:24So I can see, am I getting enough protein at breakfast versus dinner?
- 1:15:28And it also shows me how my food is distributed across the day because, of course, I can take a look at my total calorie number, but to see everything broken down by meal,
- 1:15:37Those are two completely different things, even if your daily total looks fine and you're going to feel the difference.
- 1:15:43If you eat proper nutrition across your entire day and you track it, your energy is going to allow you to sustain that high performance.
- 1:15:50Also, the food analysis picks up trends over the week that I'd miss just going by feel.
- 1:15:54See, this information makes good food choices automatic.
- 1:15:59See, food is a foundation, right?
- 1:16:00Energy, focus, performance, recovery.
- 1:16:02It all starts with food.
- 1:16:04So food.

- 1:16:18Noom is a success story partner.
- 1:16:19Now here's the thing that nobody tells you about losing weight.
- 1:16:22Losing it isn't the hard part.
- 1:16:24Keeping it off is almost anyone can white knuckle a few good months of diet and exercise, but then work gets crazy and routines break and it all comes right back.
- 1:16:32I have built my entire career and my life around one idea systems beat motivation.
- 1:16:38and weight loss is no different.
- 1:16:39You need something that holds up when life doesn't cooperate.
- 1:16:42And that's exactly what Noom is built for.
- 1:16:45Noom is a health and wellness app that combines GLP-1 medication.
- 1:16:48That's the weight loss medication that everyone's talking about with behavioral support.
- 1:16:52So the medication kickstarts the weight loss and then the psychology side, the daily lessons, the food logging, the real coaching, that builds the habits that make it stick, even if you stop the medication.
- 1:17:03And it works.
- 1:17:04People lose 37% more weight with Noom than with GLP-1 alone.
- 1:17:07Noom helps you lose weight and keep it off.
- 1:17:09And that's the difference.
- 1:17:10The Noom GLP-1 program starts at $39.
- 1:17:13It's delivered to your door in as little as seven days.
- 1:17:15So start your GLP-1 journey today at Noom.com.
- 1:17:18That's N-O-O-M.com, Noom.
- 1:17:21Lose for keeps.
- 1:17:22Initial one month subscription from $39 plus tax and $99 plus tax per month thereafter.
- 1:17:28Cost of medication not included.
- 1:17:30Final pricing depends on program selection.
- 1:17:32Results based on a January 2026 analysis of 14,203 NoomGLP1RX program members who logged weight over a 40-week period.
- 1:17:43Higher app engagement was associated with greater weight loss at 16 weeks.
- 1:17:47So my question is, what was the biggest failure in your life?
- 1:17:51Was it the gambling?
- 1:17:53Was it a business failure?
- 1:17:54When you look back, what was the thing that...
- 1:17:56Nothing's a failure, it's all a lesson, man.
- 1:17:59you're alive and healthy and you're breathing every day you're successful everything else is secondary money makes life easier but it's not all about money money can either kill you or make you better it's you choose how you want it to be but you're never a failure and even if you are failure you got to learn from your failure and become successful kind of Michael Jordan look in basketball in forget basketball and baseball you fail 70% of the time and you make it to the Hall of Fame
- 1:18:27You ever thought of that?
- 1:18:29You bat 300, so basically you fail 70% of the time, and you make it to the Hall of Fame.
- 1:18:35Seth Curry makes it 60% of the shots he takes, and he's the best three-point shooter of all time.
- 1:18:39It's not failure.
- 1:18:40I mean, it could be failure, but I don't look at my life as a failure.
- 1:18:44Failure would be if I messed up this world, committed a crime.
- 1:18:48Is there something wrong?
- 1:18:51I think the ultimate failure is if shit doesn't go right,
- 1:18:56It will go right eventually if you keep on trying.
- 1:18:57If you don't keep trying.
- 1:18:59Yeah, 100%.
- 1:19:00You know, how do you break a rock?
- 1:19:04If you spill water on it with a hole, it's not going to break.
- 1:19:06It's not going to crack.
- 1:19:07But if you drip water on it, eventually, it's going to be a hole in there.
- 1:19:13Everything comes with time.
- 1:19:14Today, everybody's so lazy.
- 1:19:15They want everything right now.
- 1:19:16You see it on Instagram.
- 1:19:17The car, it's all fake.
- 1:19:19The facade, the private jet.
- 1:19:20It's all, it's nice.
- 1:19:21Ha, ha, ha.
- 1:19:23But that's not life.
- 1:19:25People are dying in hospitals from cancer.
- 1:19:27That's what life should be.
- 1:19:28Help those kids.
- 1:19:29That's what life should be.
- 1:19:30It's my dreams.
- 1:19:31I wish I could cure cancer one day.
- 1:19:33I don't care about the private jet.
- 1:19:34I don't give a shit about it.
- 1:19:35I've never been a private jet in my life and I don't care.
- 1:19:37They're like, oh, you fly a commercial?
- 1:19:40Yeah, it's fine.
- 1:19:42I love to fly private.
- 1:19:43I can't afford it.
- 1:19:44It's fine.
- 1:19:45I'm not going to burn 30,000 to go on Instagram so that I can show that I can burn it, that I can fly it, you know?
- 1:19:53So you sell watches, though.
- 1:19:56You sell like vanity.
- 1:19:58This is why people buy from you at the end of the day.
- 1:20:01They want to flex.
- 1:20:02They want to show off.
- 1:20:03It's okay to flex, but have it to flex.
- 1:20:05Don't not have it and make yourself crazy just to compete with somebody else.
- 1:20:08So what is the reason why somebody should buy $100,000?
- 1:20:11Just an extra $100,000 instead of going to throw it on Blackjack.
- 1:20:14Go buy yourself something nice.
- 1:20:16Maybe give it to your kids.
- 1:20:17It has an opportunity to go out one day.
- 1:20:19You know, that's why you should buy it.
- 1:20:21To buy it and go in debt and try to flex to your neighbor.
- 1:20:24And then nobody cares.
- 1:20:28You don't take it with you.
- 1:20:30It's like you're older, I understand it, you know.
- 1:20:33You understand that it's all Listen it's all fake You know that This whole internet is fake And these kids don't Don't understand it They think that's what Real life is Money, cars, girls Yeah You sleep around How happy are you?
- 1:20:47You're not You find the right one You're fucking happy right?
- 1:20:50Because you build a relationship with her You build a trust with her You You
- 1:20:54She'll be by your side when the fame is gone.
- 1:20:57These women will be gone the second you don't have a, the second that credit card's declined, bro, she's switching you're like, you know what?
- 1:21:02It's exciting for that moment, but then what?
- 1:21:06Okay, you did it.
- 1:21:07You had 20.
- 1:21:09Now what?
- 1:21:09What'd you accomplish?
- 1:21:11In life, you got to accomplish.
- 1:21:12You got to feel accomplished.
- 1:21:13People are so empty today because they're not accomplished.
- 1:21:15Have you ever turned somebody away because you knew they couldn't afford what they're trying to buy?
- 1:21:18Yeah, of course.
- 1:21:20I told them I do it all the time.
- 1:21:24All the time.
- 1:21:25Why would you do that?
- 1:21:27You know?
- 1:21:28Of course.
- 1:21:29Especially in diamond rings, they come.
- 1:21:32I want a five-carat, six-carat natural house.
- 1:21:36Don't buy it.
- 1:21:38There's no point.
- 1:21:38I don't live in a bigger house because I can't afford it.
- 1:21:42My friends have huge houses.
- 1:21:43I don't care.
- 1:21:44I have a bed to sleep on when I call and you'll figure what it looks like.
- 1:21:48No, but you're right.
- 1:21:49It's all social media.
- 1:21:50It's all comparison.
- 1:21:51I mean...
- 1:21:51It's crazy.
- 1:21:52These kids today are so lost.
- 1:21:53I'm 36, so I'm a little bit younger, four years, but still I didn't grow up with social media.
- 1:21:59Right, we didn't.
- 1:22:00Our age was on social media.
- 1:22:01We were teenagers.
- 1:22:02What did we have?
- 1:22:03Myspace, right?
- 1:22:03What did we have?
- 1:22:04Or AOL Messenger.
- 1:22:05Yeah, I had that too, and I had a BlackBerry.
- 1:22:09I got my first BlackBerry.
- 1:22:10What was that, Nextels we had?
- 1:22:11Yeah, in like grade eight or something.
- 1:22:14I remember this one kid was selling like, I don't even know, like contraband BlackBerrys.
- 1:22:21In like grades seven and eight, and I got one, and I was BBMing everybody, and it was like the greatest thing ever.
- 1:22:27But with the BBMs, oh my god, dude.
- 1:22:29But I didn't grow up with this, so I was never trying to, even when I started making money, we were together before I had any money, and she was actually making more than me when we first started dating, and then now everything's working out, and I'm doing great, but I was never into watches, or flexing on Instagram, or anything like that.
- 1:22:46A woman has a Birkin, we don't carry Birkin, we wear a nice watch.
- 1:22:49She has now forced me to buy watches for myself because she's like, Scott, make money.
- 1:22:54It's embarrassing.
- 1:22:55It's okay.
- 1:22:56A watch is nice.
- 1:22:57It's whole status.
- 1:22:59I understand.
- 1:23:00But I made the money first.
- 1:23:01Correct.
- 1:23:02And then I bought the one.
- 1:23:03Correct.
- 1:23:03People going dead.
- 1:23:04Yeah, I don't understand that.
- 1:23:06They buy these Richard Mills because their friend has it going dead.
- 1:23:08I was like, what's the point?
- 1:23:10See, I'm Canadian.
- 1:23:11I'm from Toronto.
- 1:23:13I've never seen a Richard Mill in my life until I moved down to Miami.
- 1:23:16I actually bought my first Richard Mill from Canada.
- 1:23:18I've seen a lot of Rolexes, but I've seen people that are worth a lot of money, but not wearing $500,000 watches.
- 1:23:23This is a uniquely, I don't know, it seems like it's social media flexing, Miami.
- 1:23:32It seems like everybody's wearing a $500,000 watch.
- 1:23:34Fine, but that's not life.
- 1:23:36It's fine.
- 1:23:36You can do it, but that's not the purpose of life.
- 1:23:38The purpose of life is to change this world, to make it a better place.
- 1:23:41How do you help your neighbor?
- 1:23:42How do you help the guy next to you?
- 1:23:43How do you help these kids?
- 1:23:44How do you help somebody else who came into the business?
- 1:23:46You know, that's what life is about.
- 1:23:49Have the nice things, but don't get caught up in it.
- 1:23:52People get caught up in the nice things now.
- 1:23:54That's their whole life.
- 1:23:54Their whole life.
- 1:23:57It's nice.
- 1:23:58I love nice things.
- 1:23:58Trust me, I have nice cars and I have nice stuff.
- 1:24:00And I love it, but I won't flex on social media.
- 1:24:04Oh, guys, look, I just got this nice car and it's coming out.
- 1:24:08I won't do that, but I'll make a post in the car.
- 1:24:11You understand?
- 1:24:13There's a way to do it.
- 1:24:14But you've also made the money.
- 1:24:15But there's a way to flex it.
- 1:24:17Don't flex it like a child.
- 1:24:19Say, oh, look at this new delivery.
- 1:24:20No, make a post, a motivation post in the car.
- 1:24:23So whoever knows, no, they see the star, they see this.
- 1:24:25Okay, they know.
- 1:24:25Yeah, yeah.
- 1:24:27Know what I mean?
- 1:24:27How much money should you be making for each tier of watch?
- 1:24:32And what I want to look at.
- 1:24:34That's a great question.
- 1:24:35You buy a $10,000 watch, how much money should you be making a year?
- 1:24:38You buy a $50,000 watch, how much money should you be making?
- 1:24:41Because you know what's going to happen?
- 1:24:42I don't know who am I to judge, though.
- 1:24:44You are the, you are.
- 1:24:45So I believe if you're making 10, you want to buy $10,000, you should have 100 grand liquid in your bank.
- 1:24:50What about, what about 50, 60, 70?
- 1:24:53That accent is dead, that belt, that Canadian accent is, you can tell from us, what about, I love it.
- 1:24:58What about what?
- 1:24:59Say 50, 50,000, 60,000.
- 1:25:00500K.
- 1:25:0110% of what you liquidate, that's what you should have.
- 1:25:05That's what I believe, I might be wrong.
- 1:25:07And these guys that are wearing $500,000 RMs.
- 1:25:10Some of them have real money.
- 1:25:12I know some of them do.
- 1:25:13I know some of them don't.
- 1:25:15I don't know, bro.
- 1:25:16I'm not going to name names, but some people just have it just to have it.
- 1:25:21I know some people will go into debt.
- 1:25:23Yeah, people commit fraud and scams to get it.
- 1:25:26I met a famous YouTuber, Snapchat or whatever, in L.A. in some house.
- 1:25:33I talked to him openly.
- 1:25:34We were alone, no cameras.
- 1:25:36We were talking.
- 1:25:37He's young, excited, girls, Lamborghini, whatever.
- 1:25:40We're talking, you know, and I'm like, Tim, are you happy with what you do, bro?
- 1:25:43Like, straight up.
- 1:25:44He's like, I said, I love what I do.
- 1:25:45I wouldn't change it for the world.
- 1:25:47He's like, no.
- 1:25:50Like, I'm addicted to gambling and blah, blah, blah, and whatnot, and all the money he makes on social media is he blows it on gambling.
- 1:25:58I said, ask yourself, what's your purpose in life?
- 1:26:02We all have a purpose.
- 1:26:04What do you say?
- 1:26:04Just know.
- 1:26:06Find it.
- 1:26:07You know what's funny?
- 1:26:08When I started this podcast, I didn't care if it would make money because I enjoyed it so much.
- 1:26:14My goal with this show has always been I have a great ability to get good guests, ask them good questions, and then they're going to teach Scott 10 years younger.
- 1:26:26They're going to teach somebody who's just starting out in their career how to navigate life, business, success, all of it.
- 1:26:33And I knew that, and that to me was super fulfilling.
- 1:26:36And I knew that if I did that for long enough, I'd find a way to make money with it.
- 1:26:40But I led with something that I wanted to do that I felt, you know, I felt good about.
- 1:26:44I was like, this is like a value that I'm trying to give the world.
- 1:26:48And then the money followed.
- 1:26:50But if I think if you chase the money first, I think it's...
- 1:26:53First of all, I don't think a lot of people can be successful by just chasing the money first.
- 1:26:56Very few can.
- 1:26:57Gotta have passion for it.
- 1:26:58The gap between how much work it's going to take and when you actually start making money at that thing, it's a big gap.
- 1:27:05So if you just are in it for the money, it's going to be very, very, very hard for you to continue.
- 1:27:10It's like gambling.
- 1:27:11If you go to make money, you lose.
- 1:27:12If you go, you don't give a shit.
- 1:27:14People don't give a shit, always make money.
- 1:27:16Assholes like me will go try to make money, lose, because you're attached to it.
- 1:27:20You can't be attached to money.
- 1:27:21That has to be another reason why you're doing it.
- 1:27:22I thought billionaires give their money away.
- 1:27:24What are they going to do with it?
- 1:27:25Nothing at the end of the day.
- 1:27:26Dude, they feel good giving back.
- 1:27:28It's the best feeling.
- 1:27:29When you help somebody, you give back, you see somebody in need, and you see they're doing better.
- 1:27:33Yeah, it might be self's best.
- 1:27:34It's the best feeling in the world.
- 1:27:37You buy a car.
- 1:27:37How much are you excited?
- 1:27:38A month?
- 1:27:38Are you sick of the car?
- 1:27:39All right, what now?
- 1:27:40Drove this car already for a month, two months.
- 1:27:42Wow, I'm used to it, right?
- 1:27:44So not only are people going to death to buy watches and to just flex on social media and do dumb shit, then people also buy fakes.
- 1:27:52Yeah.
- 1:27:53So fakes, I understand.
- 1:27:54Sometimes it's not a right thing, but let's say people go to Europe, go to not safe countries, and they're wealthy.
- 1:27:59They wear fake watches in case.
- 1:28:00Oh, so when they travel, they have like the real version of it, but they travel with the fake version.
- 1:28:04Correct.
- 1:28:05Most of my clients are like that because they're scared to get robbed.
- 1:28:09And that's a big deal in Europe for sure.
- 1:28:12And here too, unfortunately.
- 1:28:14So when somebody walks into your store...
- 1:28:16I don't go home with this.
- 1:28:17Never.
- 1:28:18What's the point?
- 1:28:19I'll get robbed.
- 1:28:20I did already.
- 1:28:20So I don't wear it.
- 1:28:25There's no consequences for crime here.
- 1:28:29Anywhere.
- 1:28:32It's sad, but that's what it is.
- 1:28:35There's no consequence in New York City.
- 1:28:37No consequence in Europe.
- 1:28:38Look what's going on there.
- 1:28:39People go, you are a central place, paying hundreds of thousands of dollars.
- 1:28:42You go sleep in your villa and you wake up.
- 1:28:44You have nothing else because they gas you through the thing.
- 1:28:46They became smart.
- 1:28:47They didn't even come with guns anymore.
- 1:28:48They gas you.
- 1:28:49You're chilling at night, snoring.
- 1:28:50You think you're high as a kite.
- 1:28:51Just empty your house and leave.
- 1:28:54And everybody wants to go flex, right?
- 1:28:55Everybody's billionaires, millionaires.
- 1:28:56They're coming with their...
- 1:28:57Listen, I don't blame them.
- 1:28:59But they can't enjoy it.
- 1:29:01Yeah, but so this is one reason why people get fakes.
- 1:29:04But I'm saying the other reason is... You can't afford it.
- 1:29:05It's a flex.
- 1:29:06Yeah.
- 1:29:06Yeah, that's just as bad.
- 1:29:08So the people who get the bad fakes are flex.
- 1:29:10The people who get the good ones are the millionaires who don't want to get robbed.
- 1:29:14And what happens when you see somebody with a fake?
- 1:29:17Nothing.
- 1:29:17Yeah, I do.
- 1:29:18You don't call them out on it?
- 1:29:19You don't say shit?
- 1:29:21Why would I embarrass them?
- 1:29:24We were all there one time.
- 1:29:25We're all on Canal Street.
- 1:29:26This is dope.
- 1:29:27This is the hub of fakes right here.
- 1:29:29I was here when I was 16 years old on the train trying to buy those fake-ass Gucci belts or whatever.
- 1:29:35We were all there.
- 1:29:36It's okay.
- 1:29:38Fake it till you make it, right?
- 1:29:40Do you get a lot of people coming in trying to sell fakes?
- 1:29:43Yes.
- 1:29:45Some of them are really good.
- 1:29:48It's part of the business.
- 1:29:50Do they know they're fake?
- 1:29:52Yeah.
- 1:29:54Of course.
- 1:29:56Maybe one out of 20 don't, but most of them know they're trying to get away with it.
- 1:30:01Unfortunately, but that's part of the business.
- 1:30:02What are you going to do?
- 1:30:03Have you ever caught a big name with a fake watch?
- 1:30:08Like a celebrity?
- 1:30:09Yeah.
- 1:30:09Yeah, of course.
- 1:30:10But knowingly, they wear it knowingly.
- 1:30:15It's okay.
- 1:30:17I would too.
- 1:30:17If I went Central Pound, I wouldn't wear a real, hell's not.
- 1:30:20I wouldn't wear a real watch.
- 1:30:22If I go to Europe, I'm wearing a fake watch.
- 1:30:24I'm not wearing a watch at all.
- 1:30:26Why would you?
- 1:30:29Really, why would you?
- 1:30:30No, I know.
- 1:30:31It's wild how much this whole stat that I just saw about the 25% of Rolexes getting authenticated now being fake.
- 1:30:38I didn't realize it was that.
- 1:30:40Because that means that they're actually thinking that they're real.
- 1:30:43Some people sell them as real and they're not.
- 1:30:45Unfortunately, there's two different things we're talking about.
- 1:30:48We're talking about rich people not wanting to have a $100,000 watch stolen in St. Tropez.
- 1:30:53That's what China is doing now.
- 1:30:55They're duplicating their watch that look one-to-one.
- 1:30:58And they're making it look so real that it's hard to authenticate.
- 1:31:02So when China can duplicate a watch one-to-one, it means literally every single piece.
- 1:31:08If you open up the case on a watch, you could see?
- 1:31:10Sometimes you can't.
- 1:31:11That's how good they are.
- 1:31:13What does that do to the market?
- 1:31:14Nothing.
- 1:31:15It makes it stronger, actually.
- 1:31:18Because the real watches, people want them more now.
- 1:31:21So when China's flooding the market with these super clone, one-to-one fake watches, it doesn't hurt?
- 1:31:28Why would it hurt?
- 1:31:28The people with the real money will still buy the real watches.
- 1:31:33Why would it hurt the market?
- 1:31:34Right?
- 1:31:35Because people aren't buying the real ones anymore.
- 1:31:37The people who can't afford it.
- 1:31:40People who could will buy all because, again, they look at it, watches like it's going to be an investment eventually, right?
- 1:31:44They don't look at it as like a luxury because what the watch, the chart of the watch is the past seven years, it's stabilized after COVID.
- 1:31:52It's just been going up, maybe down a couple of percent, but keeps on trending up.
- 1:31:57If you look at all the different brands, so obviously Patek and RM are outliers in terms of how much you've increased in value.
- 1:32:04Yes.
- 1:32:05There's a new Constantino Vacheron store in Miami, too, which is a beautiful store.
- 1:32:11So are they having like- That's not up there yet.
- 1:32:13FB Jordan right now is the new wave.
- 1:32:15Everybody's going to go, hey, good luck getting one.
- 1:32:17FB Jordan is there, Richard Mill, Patek.
- 1:32:20Then there's Rolex makes too many watches.
- 1:32:23If you were going to take a crystal ball and say non-investment advice, but a brand that you'd want to bet on for the next 10 years.
- 1:32:31I don't know why Hublot didn't take off.
- 1:32:35That's great money.
- 1:32:36That's great money.
- 1:32:37Great watch for the money.
- 1:32:40but you're never going to sell it.
- 1:32:42But that watch is pretty.
- 1:32:43So what drives, like when F.E.
- 1:32:45Journe or Patek, what drives this, like you said, RM had a really good marketing strategy.
- 1:32:50They're working with all these athletes.
- 1:32:52That's what sort of pushed demand.
- 1:32:54How did Patek blow up?
- 1:32:55How did... Supply and demand.
- 1:33:00Same thing.
- 1:33:03Patek became crazy just like Rolex did.
- 1:33:05I mean, who would pay $35,000 for a ceramic Daytona?
- 1:33:10$35,000 today was $15,000 10 years ago.
- 1:33:16So what do you think is the most overvalued watch right now?
- 1:33:19Rolex Daytona.
- 1:33:22Yeah.
- 1:33:23I don't believe somebody would pay $35,000 for a stainless steel watch.
- 1:33:26Is that what you pay for it?
- 1:33:27Yeah, today.
- 1:33:28I would pay $35,000 and I sell it for like $36,000.
- 1:33:30Yeah.
- 1:33:31Brand new.
- 1:33:33Retail $16,000.
- 1:33:35Good luck getting one.
- 1:33:36And what's the most undervalued?
- 1:33:38You're using Hublot?
- 1:33:39Hublot Panerai.
- 1:33:41Yeah, $4,000, you get a watch, it looks, wow.
- 1:33:45Rolex $4,000, you get a watch.
- 1:33:46That's my grandfather's age and has to go to service every week.
- 1:33:51But that's the brand.
- 1:33:51That's the illusion they built.
- 1:33:52We built their illusion.
- 1:33:54The gray market picked up the market that these dealers are excited now that they're shoving.
- 1:33:59What jewelers do now is, like, say you go to a Rolex store, he has jewelry, like, oh, you want a Daytona?
- 1:34:04Buy a Tiffany something or buy a... Well, it's the same as playing the Birkin game with...
- 1:34:09I would never play that game.
- 1:34:09I would just pay double retail hotel, and go, screw yourself.
- 1:34:12Hermes.
- 1:34:13I would never go there, buy blankets.
- 1:34:15You're going to spend 15 grand.
- 1:34:16You're going to get the bag 15 grand.
- 1:34:17You spend 30,000.
- 1:34:17What's the difference?
- 1:34:18When are you going to use a blanket?
- 1:34:19You're not going to sleep on it because it's so expensive.
- 1:34:21So it's going to sit there and collect dust.
- 1:34:22You're not going to eat from the plates.
- 1:34:25But people like to play the game.
- 1:34:26Some people don't.
- 1:34:29Can you imagine you're waiting online to spend 15,000?
- 1:34:31They said, no, you don't have an appointment.
- 1:34:34I know.
- 1:34:35How's that?
- 1:34:36It's through your mind so hard.
- 1:34:38I want it now.
- 1:34:39But if you are somebody that understands this game, you're not worried about the $15,000.
- 1:34:44The game is meant for people where $15,000 is not.
- 1:34:51The problem is people with $15,000, they're not going to kiss ass.
- 1:34:54They have so much money, they'll go buy it for double retail.
- 1:34:56A guy like Mayweather, a guy like Floyd Mayweather, right, has money.
- 1:34:59He comes to 47.
- 1:35:00She blows on him and buys Burkitts for $30,000.
- 1:35:02He's going to go to Burkitt and beg and buy a piece of plastic and then... No.
- 1:35:06But that game is for someone.
- 1:35:07The game is for people like us who don't want to spend $30,000.
- 1:35:11They think they're getting a deal at $12,000 or $15,000 or $9,000, but they're spending $18,000.
- 1:35:16Now this is not going to use.
- 1:35:17So I always thought the game was like...
- 1:35:21The billionaire can buy Hermes.
- 1:35:23I know that.
- 1:35:24He can buy the store out.
- 1:35:24So why is he going to go there and waste his time for an appointment?
- 1:35:27Do you have an appointment?
- 1:35:28Do you have an essay?
- 1:35:29Do you have this?
- 1:35:29No.
- 1:35:30Fuck that.
- 1:35:30I can afford to spend $30,000.
- 1:35:32They don't like the prestige?
- 1:35:33What's the prestige?
- 1:35:34The prestige is they're not waiting on line.
- 1:35:37It's the ego now.
- 1:35:39My ego is letting me wait on line.
- 1:35:41I would never wait on line at any restaurant in New York anywhere.
- 1:35:43There's a line.
- 1:35:43I'm out.
- 1:35:44I'm paying money.
- 1:35:45I should wait?
- 1:35:47That's my mentality.
- 1:35:48If I'm paying money, I don't want to wait.
- 1:35:49If I'm waiting, I'm not spending the money.
- 1:35:51Okay, so if you want to play that game because you think you're getting a little bit of a discount, is there a way to play it, like going to a certain country, going to a certain city?
- 1:36:00Say France, I guess.
- 1:36:01I don't know.
- 1:36:03Is there an AP, Patek, or Rolex store that you can walk into in continental USA and go get a watch that you want to buy?
- 1:36:12No.
- 1:36:14Rolex is easier, but no.
- 1:36:15Patek, no way.
- 1:36:17Richard Mill, no way.
- 1:36:18Unless you're Nadal or Watson or whatever, but no way.
- 1:36:23Or Felipe Masa, but...
- 1:36:25So every single store, you're going to go in, you're going to waste money on something you don't want.
- 1:36:29Some people don't care.
- 1:36:30They want it.
- 1:36:31Let's say they like this Day-Date, which they don't care that they're ever going to sell.
- 1:36:34They like it.
- 1:36:34They like to buy it from Rolex.
- 1:36:36It's trustworthy.
- 1:36:36It's not fake.
- 1:36:37It's super clones.
- 1:36:38Some people will build a relationship that way.
- 1:36:41Then you have people who just want the Daytona, so they'll go pay $35,000 on the secondary market.
- 1:36:48Then you have people, real collectors.
- 1:36:51I saw a guy on the plane the other day who had every AP in the book that my dream is to have, but he bought stuff that
- 1:36:58That nobody would ever buy, but he likes it.
- 1:37:00So he doesn't care.
- 1:37:01He's like, you're going to lose money.
- 1:37:02I don't give a shit.
- 1:37:02I don't sell these watches.
- 1:37:03I love to wear them.
- 1:37:05So that's what, for them.
- 1:37:07That makes sense.
- 1:37:08That makes sense.
- 1:37:09If a guy wants to buy one Daytona and go buy a watch, play the whole game to lose money, end up breaking even.
- 1:37:13So what are you doing?
- 1:37:15In the long run, he might get a better watch.
- 1:37:16I understand.
- 1:37:17But to get one watch is not worth to play the game.
- 1:37:19If you're going to get 20 watches, play the game.
- 1:37:22And how much does somebody have to spend at some of these stores to actually get the watch they want?
- 1:37:27pans ap probably a million bucks to get anything like a million but the off catalog probably more yeah these guys I like an offshore no offshore you spend like 100 grand you'll get an offshore maybe you buy a code they'll give you an offshore is not even how I'll show you lose money by Roy loke it's different but a minute protect the same I don't know I don't ever played the game the back then they would sell it to me without even playing the game for 35 off but today
- 1:37:54Good for them.
- 1:37:55But we created that hype.
- 1:37:56The secondary market.
- 1:37:57They hate us, but we created that hype for them.
- 1:38:00They don't work with you.
- 1:38:01Never.
- 1:38:03We're banned from all those stores.
- 1:38:06We're banned from Turno, Mayors, all that.
- 1:38:08I don't care, but if I give my ideas, they get out.
- 1:38:11So when someone's shopping, they can go see you or they go on like Chrono24.
- 1:38:15There's a couple other ones.
- 1:38:19Shopping online for watches, smart, not smart, no issue.
- 1:38:25Expensive.
- 1:38:26Stay out.
- 1:38:26You're paying their fees and whatever.
- 1:38:28So when somebody goes to 47th Street, they're getting a deal compared to Corona 24.
- 1:38:32Probably 10% cheaper.
- 1:38:33Yeah.
- 1:38:33Yeah.
- 1:38:34When people like Corona 24, because they're a middleman, they can trust, they'd rather pay the extra three, four grand.
- 1:38:41But yeah, Corona 24 is probably 10% more.
- 1:38:44So the best spot, if you do actually want to buy watches from somebody you trust.
- 1:38:49Oh, I mean, yeah.
- 1:38:49Online, you can buy from Corona.
- 1:38:51Come to our store and you'll see.
- 1:38:52So going back to some wisdom, I think that I just want to understand the most important lessons that you learned growing up from your dad, from being religious.
- 1:39:03What were some of the most important, one of the most important ones that you carried over into your business?
- 1:39:08Always fear God and know he's watching and always conduct straight business.
- 1:39:12Don't steal.
- 1:39:13There's always enough money for everybody.
- 1:39:16Keep your word is the most important.
- 1:39:18If you say something, you're going to do it.
- 1:39:19You're going to do it.
- 1:39:20If not, you're going to lose respect.
- 1:39:23Tell a woman you're going to be home at 5 o'clock.
- 1:39:24You always told me, never tell a woman what time you're going to be home.
- 1:39:26We tell you home at 5 o'clock, it's 5.10, she's going to hold you accountable.
- 1:39:29She asks you when you come home, say, I don't know, I'll be there soon.
- 1:39:32If you give her the right time, because it's your word.
- 1:39:35Because as a man, you're the, you know.
- 1:39:39And when you lose the war, right, who do you blame, the soldiers or the general?
- 1:39:46The general.
- 1:39:48The men, you're the general.
- 1:39:51That's what he always taught me.
- 1:39:51No matter any argument with a woman, you're at fault.
- 1:39:54You're the general.
- 1:39:55She looks up to you.
- 1:39:56You're the leader of the house.
- 1:39:58Same thing in business.
- 1:39:59You're the boss.
- 1:39:59You're the general.
- 1:40:00Yeah, it doesn't matter if your employees screw up.
- 1:40:02They do.
- 1:40:03I know.
- 1:40:04But if they do, it's still on you.
- 1:40:06It happens sometimes.
- 1:40:07Yeah, it's still on you.
- 1:40:11It's a valuable lesson he taught me.
- 1:40:12I mean, this business taught me don't believe anything you see.
- 1:40:18Why is that?
- 1:40:19What do you mean?
- 1:40:20facade our business is all a show people think everybody's rich everybody's making money it's not true and it's not like people think oh we make $100,000 a day or something I wish I would have been retired by now it's a comfortable business that's it there's no future
- 1:40:45Unless you create an exit strategy, there's no future in it.
- 1:40:48It's a beautiful business, I'm not saying, but school is a better option for now.
- 1:40:52And then when you finish school and, you know.
- 1:40:55One thing school teaches you is, yeah, they teach you fear.
- 1:40:57They teach you to be in a system 9 to 5 and 401k, which we don't have.
- 1:41:02That's the negative of school.
- 1:41:03But then it teaches you stability, think right.
- 1:41:06When stuff happens, like in a, you know how to react in a professional way instead of acting in a. Yeah, but it's worked out.
- 1:41:15It worked out, yeah, okay, I got lucky.
- 1:41:17Now everybody gets lucky.
- 1:41:18You think you got lucky?
- 1:41:19Yeah, I got really lucky.
- 1:41:21More than once.
- 1:41:22You don't believe that you make your own luck?
- 1:41:24You do, on the good deeds you do.
- 1:41:27You're good to people.
- 1:41:28The world, the universe becomes good to you.
- 1:41:30It always happens.
- 1:41:32Karma.
- 1:41:33Why do you think you're lucky?
- 1:41:34I don't know.
- 1:41:36Because when I look at you, I don't see somebody who's lucky.
- 1:41:39Because you don't know my life.
- 1:41:40I should have been dead by now.
- 1:41:43My life, I should have been dead by now.
- 1:41:45You know how many things that you survived and you did not let derail you would have derailed most other people?
- 1:41:56Yeah, that I learned from my dad.
- 1:41:58My dad had cancer and never believed one second that he's going to die.
- 1:42:02I don't have nothing.
- 1:42:03The doc said, you got to, I'll die doing what I love, but I'm never going to derail.
- 1:42:08That much I learned from that man.
- 1:42:09That man is stubborn as a mule.
- 1:42:11He always taught us, like, there's no quit.
- 1:42:13There's no quit in this life.
- 1:42:14Like, you quit, like, you're going to have ups and downs.
- 1:42:18He told me life's a roller coaster.
- 1:42:20But you got to, you know, enjoy the downs as much as you enjoy the ups in life.
- 1:42:25Because you cannot go up unless you've been down before.
- 1:42:29That's what I believe in.
- 1:42:30Even if you're going to be up, right?
- 1:42:31You'll fall and you'll get back up.
- 1:42:33It's fun in life.
- 1:42:35I also think, yeah, if you, what did you say?
- 1:42:40You can't, you can't, if you haven't been at rock bottom.
- 1:42:45Never.
- 1:42:45Yeah.
- 1:42:46Rock bottom sucks.
- 1:42:49That rock bottom sucks.
- 1:42:51Now I look back at it, I'm like, oh, how much money I would have had if I...
- 1:42:54I would have.
- 1:42:55I would say if my mom had something else, it would have been my dad.
- 1:42:58That's not what God had plans for me to do.
- 1:43:01But it's how you survive all those, you know, micro failures across your life.
- 1:43:05And I say failures.
- 1:43:06It's failures.
- 1:43:07Lessons.
- 1:43:08Lessons, but failures.
- 1:43:09How you survive those.
- 1:43:10That is literally the definition of architecting your own luck.
- 1:43:12So, like, when I look at you, I see somebody who has all of these things that have not worked out, yet you've kept going in spite of all these things.
- 1:43:22Because eventually something's going to work out.
- 1:43:24Exactly.
- 1:43:24I mean, like, if you are not dead.
- 1:43:25You have a pulse.
- 1:43:27You still have an opportunity.
- 1:43:28You still have a chance.
- 1:43:29I always tell my employees also, you're healthy every single day.
- 1:43:31Don't think about this guy has this car and that one was how miserable is he's his brain.
- 1:43:36You're healthy every day, not in a hospital bed.
- 1:43:38You can walk up, you can wake up, walk outside.
- 1:43:41You have your freedom.
- 1:43:43It's worth every penny.
- 1:43:44Take all the wisdom.
- 1:43:45Well, actually, before we get there, where do you want to send people to connect with you and sort of see more of your content?
- 1:43:51Instagram is the best.
- 1:43:52Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, at thewatchingayayc, Snapchat, everywhere.
- 1:43:56Snapchat is my private life, a little bit of it, and everything else is like what I post every day.
- 1:44:02If you could take all the wisdom that you learned over your life, your business career, all the ups and downs, wins and losses, you could pass on one lesson to your kid, just one lesson.
- 1:44:09Everybody's the same.
- 1:44:12Somebody has more zeros in the bank account than you or not, but you got to treat everybody like the same, no matter who it is.
- 1:44:20Up, down, tomorrow, you never know who you're going to need, and you have to learn from everybody you meet in life.
- 1:44:25You have to learn something from them.
- 1:44:28You can't look at somebody lower than you because...
- 1:44:32He has less money.
- 1:44:33That's very important.
- 1:44:34Everybody is the same.
- 1:44:35We're all children of God, no matter what color, whatever skin, whatever it is, the way you look, the way you, whatever.
- 1:44:42We're all children of God and we're all, and then we'll have to answer to God, our Father.
- 1:44:48So yeah, and never judge.
- 1:44:51That's the only thing I can say.
- 1:44:52Everything else will come with experience.
