- 0:01Trust is frequently built on the basis of experience.
- 0:05We gain trust by confirmation of a particular development or
- 0:09response from our interactions. Trust is thus primarily based in
- 0:14the mental process, through a process that develops
- 0:18credibility and individual gains trust in the action and outcome.
- 0:23We view and analyse what takes place and with repeated similar
- 0:28results a measure of trust is built up.
- 0:32Sometimes trust is gained through measures taken to
- 0:35provide support or protection as a fail safe mechanism in the
- 0:41external world. We gain trust in government
- 0:44guarantees, insurance companies and their asset base and
- 0:48history, and in the existence of collateral in case the promised
- 0:53result does not occur. When we look at trust from the
- 0:57spiritual seekers viewpoint, we acquire trust in the divine
- 1:01process through our cumulative life experience, particularly if
- 1:06we reflect on situations where we were unexpectedly supported
- 1:10or aided, and we attribute that support to the action of the
- 1:14divine. Faith does not arise primarily
- 1:19in the mind, but in the psychic center.
- 1:22It is based on the knowledge of the soul, of a reality that has
- 1:25not yet become fully evident and palpable to the mind.
- 1:30Faith may be awakened or reinforced through experiences
- 1:33that also can build trust, but it can leap ahead of trust to
- 1:38become a certainty in the soul. Many people have reported
- 1:42returning from a near death experience and upon reawakening
- 1:46they suddenly had an entirely new sense about the existence of
- 1:51the Divine, about the significance of their lives and
- 1:55the purpose for which they had been returned to life.
- 1:59In most of these cases, there is not an externally palpable
- 2:03factual basis for the newly acquired faith.
- 2:08It is something they simply know through what Trioralbindo calls
- 2:12knowledge by identity, the oneness of the soul with the
- 2:17Divine. A disciple asks, what is the
- 2:22difference between faith and trust?
- 2:25The Mother observes, Quote. Faith is something much more
- 2:30integral than trust. You see, you have trust in the
- 2:34divine in the sense that you are convinced that all that comes
- 2:38from Him will always be the best for you.
- 2:41Whatever his decision and whatever the experience he sends
- 2:44you or the circumstances in which He puts you, it will all
- 2:49be always what is best for you. This is trust, but faith, that
- 2:55kind of unshakable certitude in the very existence of God.
- 3:00Faith is something that seizes the whole being.
- 3:04It is not only mental, psychic, or vital.
- 3:08It is the whole being entirely which has faith.
- 3:12Faith leads straight to experience and quote.
