Mount Melleray Abbey, once a centuries-old monastery, is hosting a historic Mass on September 20th — just 18 months after becoming Ireland’s stunning new campus for Ave Maria University. Founded in the 1830s and shuttered to the public last January, the abbey now welcomes students from across the globe, thanks to a unique union of Cistercian monks from three monasteries. With hundreds applying for limited spots, the university touts its blend of prayer, study, and Irish adventure.
