- 0:00We're back on the Yukon Men's Basketball Coaches Show. Spent some time with Dan
- 0:03Hurley obviously, and now we usually have a player or coach with us as
- 0:07we wrap it up. We got a couple more segments, and Alex Caravan
- 0:11is with us. The hottest shooter on the Huskies right now. I love
- 0:15saying that when you start making buckets, and I just told Dan this,
- 0:19it seems like the team just explodes. They seem to feed off your your
- 0:23offensive forays. Would you agree with that to an extent? I think I
- 0:31think my teammates deserve a lot of good credit for the passes that they make,
- 0:34in the plays that they make, and what they cause offensively problems for
- 0:38the other team and by at the same time, but I am knocking my
- 0:41shots down. If I am spacing the floor properly for us, I think
- 0:44everything else opens up for us offensively to where Tristan can attack the basket,
- 0:48dono it can get post ups, and I think Cam gets a whole other
- 0:52level of confidence too. So I'm not taking all the credit for that.
- 0:56Now, I knew you wouldn't, but I figured I had to. Balance
- 1:02is big part of this team. I mean five guys. I think it
- 1:04was seven games. You've had five people in double figures, which is a
- 1:07pretty high number. Let's talk about that, because it's not like, keep
- 1:12going in the game and you say, Okay, everyone's going to get twelve
- 1:15points tonight. It's just the way you play the game. Isn't it an
- 1:19offense that that kind of creates equal opportunity? Yeah, definitely. I think
- 1:25we really we don't know whose game is going to be until the game starts,
- 1:26and I think it doesn't matter whose game it is, whoever's having the
- 1:30hot hand in that game, but just let them, you know, continue
- 1:33to score and continue to do what they're doing. And I think that's just
- 1:36the beauty of this team to where anyone can get the hot hand and we
- 1:40could just beat you in so many different ways, whether that's Donovan inside or
- 1:44Cam shot or Steph at Tech and Tristan doing his thing. I think it's
- 1:48just it's just a really hard thing for the other teams to come up with
- 1:51a game plan for. Yeah, these last two games I thought was interesting.
- 1:55I did talk to Dan about this. It's not easy. You win
- 1:57eighteen games, you break a record in the conference, you clinched the Conference
- 2:04regular season, then you got two on the road. I mean people would
- 2:07have been I don't want to say okay with it, but they would have
- 2:09understood human nature. You relax a little, maybe you split the two,
- 2:13but you went and got both of them. And I'll tell you that,
- 2:16to me, that was pretty impressive because, first of all, I mean
- 2:20Providence, they had won like forty five out of fifty one games in their
- 2:23buildings. It's not easy to beat them in their place, No, not
- 2:28at all. And I'd say even winning at Marquettu is another difficult task with
- 2:32them selling out a NBA sized arenas. So we knew that we get two
- 2:37challenges ahead of ourselves, but at the same time, we felt like we
- 2:39have so much more playing for and that we didn't want to let these two
- 2:44games slip away from us and you know, jeopardizing exceeding for March Madness or
- 2:49you know, not. We we want to continue momentum heading into the biggiest
- 2:53tournament with two huge road winds. So the coaches they were continue to motivate
- 2:59us, continue to tell us what we need to do, and just you
- 3:01know, they really instilled the message that we can't be satisfied and that there's
- 3:06so much more to do, and you know, coach Haurley always finds a
- 3:09motivating piece, which is you know that history mark, like you talked about
- 3:13in setting history, not just only a U combat in the entire Big East.
- 3:17That's something that's super unique. Yeah, I'll tell you what, man,
- 3:21people remember that stuff because I mean, I think you snapped the record
- 3:24at Georgetown set back in the eighties for you know, regular season wins and
- 3:29also margin of victory Georgetown with you ing and all those guys when you know
- 3:32they won so much and you broke that record. So I think you put
- 3:38yourself in those record books and people like me, you're reading about it five
- 3:42ten years from now. That's good. They're gonna be mentioning you. And
- 3:45that's never a bad thing, is it. No? Never, It's it's
- 3:49kind of crazy because it feels like that was the first time I heard about
- 3:52those records too, And it just feels like every day there's another record that
- 3:55we've broken, and it's amazing. I mean, just to do it such
- 4:00a tough conference and that's such a prestigious program like Yukon, I mean,
- 4:04it's really an incredible feeling. It's an incredible accomplishment that you know, even
- 4:09ourselves, we could look twenty years in future and see, you know,
- 4:12college basketball and our records still could be standing within the Big East. So
- 4:16but yeah, it's it's it's an unbelievable feeling. It really has been a
- 4:20fabulous couple of years since you got on campus. We'll talk about your development
- 4:26and we got some other stuff to talk about related to the Big East Tournament
- 4:29coming up in the NCAAA Tournament beyond, as we continue on the Yukon Men's
- 4:32Basketball Coaches Show with Alex Caravan here onlear Field
