- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:06Speaker 2: It's the almost famous podcast and it's been here coming
- 0:08Speaker 2: to you from Carmel, California, where we are in town
- 0:12Speaker 2: for our annual almost famous golf trip at Pebble Beach
- 0:17Speaker 2: for the Pebble Beach Pro Am. And I'm here today
- 0:20Speaker 2: with the almost famous o Gee Bob Guinea, Hi Ben, Hi,
- 0:27Speaker 2: Bob Hey. Kenyon was supposed to be here. Yes, she
- 0:31Speaker 2: got sick. She got sick. Yeah, she's been sick a
- 0:34Speaker 2: couple of days, kind of nursing it. Today she woke
- 0:36Speaker 2: up though, and it was worse than ever. And it's funny.
- 0:39Speaker 3: I was telling someone down in the lobby that when
- 0:42Speaker 3: she told me she was sick at by forty five
- 0:44Speaker 3: this morning, I'm like, come on, you can't be sick,
- 0:46Speaker 3: and she's like, upset that I'm not being supportive. Then
- 0:50Speaker 3: I jump in the shower, I get out of the
- 0:51Speaker 3: shower and I go, you know what, I totally get it.
- 0:53Speaker 3: You're right, you're sick. I don't want you to come
- 0:55Speaker 3: because then I don't want you to get anyone else sick.
- 0:57Speaker 3: And she's like, oh great, now you don't want me
- 0:58Speaker 3: to come yeah, I couldn't win. No, you're you're in
- 1:02Speaker 3: a losing battle.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Now she's sick, and I'm guessing she's really bummed, not
- 1:07Speaker 2: only because she loves to see, you know, be around you.
- 1:11Speaker 2: Obviously I'm the least of the year. Yeah, but like
- 1:14Speaker 2: being here in this town. Yeah, she has to just
- 1:18Speaker 2: love this place. She went to school in Berkeley, so
- 1:20Speaker 2: she she loves the bay. She loves Sugarman and talking
- 1:23Speaker 2: about their Kapa Kappa Gamba Berkeley days and uh, you know,
- 1:26Speaker 2: loves all of the friends that we have that have
- 1:28Speaker 2: become a part of this tradition here that it's just
- 1:31Speaker 2: a really great group and I think she really enjoys
- 1:34Speaker 2: being a part of it. Yeah, and so it like
- 1:36Speaker 2: she even said, she's like you got to understand, like
- 1:38Speaker 2: she was so upset. She's like I miss She's like
- 1:41Speaker 2: I would rather miss so many other things that we
- 1:43Speaker 2: do over this.
- 1:45Speaker 4: It's your favorite thing.
- 1:46Speaker 2: It's it's every year, no matter what's going on, like
- 1:49Speaker 2: this is coming here and being with everybody and just
- 1:53Speaker 2: hanging out and drinking wine, watching golf. Is this is
- 1:57Speaker 2: a special place. It is I want to dig into
- 1:59Speaker 2: your marriage a little bit. Oh good, Okay, Yeah, Bob.
- 2:03Speaker 2: When something like this happens, it's turned into a guy
- 2:07Speaker 2: strip for you. Now she's not here, it has is
- 2:10Speaker 2: do you in your marriage keep a scoreboard? So like,
- 2:13Speaker 2: she's now going to get to have a girl's trip
- 2:15Speaker 2: because you did a guys trip.
- 2:17Speaker 3: You have to understand, I am the king of encouraging
- 2:20Speaker 3: girls trips.
- 2:21Speaker 4: I'm with you. Oh my god.
- 2:23Speaker 3: If there's a if I even hear a whisper of
- 2:25Speaker 3: a girl's trip that they don't even know her, I'm
- 2:27Speaker 3: introducing her to them and saying, you got she's a
- 2:29Speaker 3: lot of fun.
- 2:29Speaker 4: On a girl trip, you should take he she's a
- 2:30Speaker 4: good cook.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I love her going on girls trips because then when
- 2:34Speaker 3: I have something come up. I mean, you know, one
- 2:36Speaker 3: of the things I was really looking forward to was
- 2:38Speaker 3: was the trip with you in the fall. I ended
- 2:41Speaker 3: up having some dealer no deal stuff I have to do,
- 2:43Speaker 3: and that was one of my guy trips that I
- 2:46Speaker 3: was very excited about.
- 2:47Speaker 4: You know.
- 2:47Speaker 3: So yeah, we don't necessarily keep score, but you know,
- 2:51Speaker 3: there's definitely some score keeping going on. But see, I
- 2:53Speaker 3: can theoretically I cannot count this as a guys trip
- 2:56Speaker 3: because she was supposed to come.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Well, and like I I'm very much against score boards
- 3:02Speaker 2: in marriages indeed, and I'm with you where it's like,
- 3:05Speaker 2: if Jessica comes to me and says, I'm going to
- 3:07Speaker 2: go out with my friends for five times this year,
- 3:11Speaker 2: I'm like great, like that. I mean, that's one of
- 3:14Speaker 2: the reasons I think our our marriage is so healthy,
- 3:16Speaker 2: because we're both very encouraging of like, hey, I want
- 3:20Speaker 2: you home, I want you hanging out with me. But
- 3:23Speaker 2: when the opportunity arises that you can go have friends,
- 3:27Speaker 2: go get out there and do it.
- 3:28Speaker 4: I gotta do it.
- 3:29Speaker 3: Especially and I'll say this too, you know, especially with
- 3:31Speaker 3: with with you guys with a young baby at home.
- 3:33Speaker 4: You know, my kids now are seven and four and
- 3:36Speaker 4: a half.
- 3:37Speaker 3: But for me, Jessica gave up a lot of her
- 3:41Speaker 3: social life for our boys, and I didn't, you know.
- 3:45Speaker 3: I mean, I don't get me wrong. I love having
- 3:47Speaker 3: our kids, and I stay home as much as I can.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I use as I really love having kids, because I
- 3:51Speaker 3: can use it as an excuse not to do stuff. Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 3: Like I'll be like, oh, I'd love to go to
- 3:54Speaker 3: that guys, but I can't. I got to stay home
- 3:56Speaker 3: with the I do it a lot. It's a great.
- 3:58Speaker 3: It's a buddy of mine when I was living in
- 4:00Speaker 3: Seattle told me it was going to be the best blessing,
- 4:02Speaker 3: and he was right.
- 4:03Speaker 4: It really is a great one.
- 4:04Speaker 3: But I want her now to do stuff so that
- 4:08Speaker 3: she realizes how much I appreciated that sacrifice, because I
- 4:11Speaker 3: really didn't make that same sacrifice because I was still
- 4:14Speaker 3: out doing my thing right. And so I encourage it
- 4:18Speaker 3: as much as I can. Like this past week, for example,
- 4:20Speaker 3: she went out and it's probably why she's sick, to
- 4:22Speaker 3: be honest, she went out Wednesday night and Thursday night
- 4:25Speaker 3: with friends for pre planned things, and then something else
- 4:28Speaker 3: got rescheduled to Friday night, and she had to do
- 4:31Speaker 3: something on Friday night too. She's never she has something
- 4:33Speaker 3: three nights in a row in years. I don't know
- 4:35Speaker 3: if I'm prepared to do stuff three nights in a row.
- 4:38Speaker 3: I know I'm not yea more I used to be.
- 4:40Speaker 3: I used to be prepared for you know, oh, yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 3: nights in a row.
- 4:43Speaker 2: Things have changed for me now when you go away,
- 4:46Speaker 2: you've been married for how many.
- 4:47Speaker 4: Years we've been married. This will be our tenth year
- 4:50Speaker 4: of marriage in November of twenty six.
- 4:52Speaker 2: I think people are interested when you travel and she's
- 4:56Speaker 2: back at home with the boys, or for example, this
- 4:59Speaker 2: time sick.
- 5:00Speaker 4: Yeah, are you face timing her quite a bit? I will.
- 5:03Speaker 4: So It's kind of funny.
- 5:04Speaker 3: Canyon and I have an interesting dynamic with this one
- 5:07Speaker 3: because the answer, the answer is yes, I'm facetiming. I'm
- 5:12Speaker 3: facetiming her. But she's playing the phone at the boys, okay,
- 5:15Speaker 3: especially when she's sick, so she won't even be on,
- 5:18Speaker 3: you know, but we had we had a nanny schedule
- 5:20Speaker 3: for this weekend and then nanny is still there to help. Now.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I told her, I'm like, we're going to keep her
- 5:25Speaker 3: because you need to rest as we're supposed to go
- 5:27Speaker 3: on you know, midwinter break next week. So but anyway, yeah,
- 5:31Speaker 3: I'll FaceTime and she will point the phone at the boys.
- 5:34Speaker 3: But she'll call me, and you know, we'll check in
- 5:37Speaker 3: a few times, but not much. She's not a big
- 5:39Speaker 3: checker in her Yeah, you know, I mean, I am,
- 5:41Speaker 3: I would, I would talk for hours at a time.
- 5:43Speaker 3: She has no interest.
- 5:44Speaker 2: That's I mean, that's funny because I'm needier, I think. Yeah,
- 5:48Speaker 2: well yeah, and like Jessica and I my wife, like
- 5:53Speaker 2: I won't talk to her much. Yeah, I mean, we'll
- 5:55Speaker 2: text and I'll call her one or two times a day,
- 5:58Speaker 2: but I don't want to be on FaceTime.
- 6:00Speaker 4: I don't want to be on the phone.
- 6:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I would, honestly if it was if I did
- 6:05Speaker 2: not have a kid at home, I would leave my
- 6:07Speaker 2: phone at the hotel the whole weekend.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Like, I just don't love being on it.
- 6:11Speaker 3: It's yeah, on the opposite, I want to like, for example, well,
- 6:15Speaker 3: for example, like today, you know, I wanted to check
- 6:18Speaker 3: with how grace In's school day was, you know, because
- 6:21Speaker 3: he does this check in check out thing that he's
- 6:23Speaker 3: got it. It's it's behavior related, and we want we
- 6:26Speaker 3: wanted to get seventy five percent or better every day,
- 6:27Speaker 3: and he's been on a roll. So I was like,
- 6:30Speaker 3: right when I landed, I called, I'm like, all right,
- 6:32Speaker 3: how to go? And he gets on the phone, Daddy,
- 6:34Speaker 3: I got ninety one percent. So I'm like fired up
- 6:37Speaker 3: about that. Then Blake gets on the phone and Blake
- 6:40Speaker 3: wants to tell me that he's getting great scores too,
- 6:42Speaker 3: even though they don't do the same form for him.
- 6:44Speaker 3: So I'm like, oh my god, that's great, Blake, Like
- 6:46Speaker 3: I really love those moments, you know, So I do
- 6:49Speaker 3: that kind of stuff, and then I mean, you know, now,
- 6:51Speaker 3: I'll text her later tonight, probably just be like, you know,
- 6:54Speaker 3: we miss you tonight, you know whatever. But yeah, I
- 6:57Speaker 3: think you know, it's it probably was a lot different
- 6:59Speaker 3: when we first started dating and we're first married.
- 7:02Speaker 4: Goodness, I was for hours. Yeah, not anymore. We were
- 7:06Speaker 4: both down for that. Oh yeah.
- 7:07Speaker 2: The hard part for me is, uh, I've the last,
- 7:11Speaker 2: and I've cut back on this a lot, so I'm
- 7:12Speaker 2: not last. At the end of the last year, I
- 7:17Speaker 2: was traveling a bunch and it got really hard, but
- 7:20Speaker 2: it was stuff I had like committed to a year previously.
- 7:24Speaker 2: This year, I've made a like an effort to not
- 7:27Speaker 2: be gone as much. But the last ten days I've
- 7:29Speaker 2: been gone just based on life, and then I'm home.
- 7:34Speaker 2: The hard part for me is facetiming my daughter. I
- 7:37Speaker 2: get really sad, Oh sure, because you're not there. I'm
- 7:40Speaker 2: not there. Yeah, she's one years old this week. I'll
- 7:43Speaker 2: be back for that.
- 7:43Speaker 3: So I was very I was so sad and I
- 7:46Speaker 3: thought you weren't going to be coming. And then when
- 7:48Speaker 3: you're like, I'm in, I'm like, all right, here we go.
- 7:50Speaker 3: I love it.
- 7:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I really I wanted to be here. I needed
- 7:54Speaker 2: to be here. But I don't love facetiming my family
- 8:00Speaker 2: only because I get so sad, like when when he
- 8:02Speaker 2: says dada dada dada, and I'm gone and I can't
- 8:06Speaker 2: just like wrestle her and blow on her belly.
- 8:08Speaker 4: And do all the fun. It's just too much. Yeah.
- 8:13Speaker 2: The good part is she's not old enough yet to
- 8:15Speaker 2: get sad herself, Like she's just pumped to like hear
- 8:17Speaker 2: my voice.
- 8:18Speaker 4: Yeah, she's just no, clearly, Yeah yeah yeah.
- 8:21Speaker 2: Once she starts to like get sad that I'm gone,
- 8:24Speaker 2: you'll never see me again, you know what.
- 8:26Speaker 3: I know.
- 8:28Speaker 4: I know that that is true. Knowing you, I know
- 8:29Speaker 4: that's true. You'll never see me leave my home. Like
- 8:32Speaker 4: Grayson doesn't get sad Blake.
- 8:34Speaker 3: Blake will get sad if he's needing me to stick
- 8:37Speaker 3: up for him, you know, because his good brothers messing
- 8:40Speaker 3: with him or something. But it's not really that they're
- 8:41Speaker 3: sad that I'm not there.
- 8:43Speaker 4: They're sad that, you know, the functions of my day
- 8:45Speaker 4: aren't there for them. We're gonna be out here playing golf.
- 8:50Speaker 2: We we like to talk about golf in very specific
- 8:52Speaker 2: ways here on the show. Because it bores everybody. But
- 8:57Speaker 2: we are going to play little golf. Have you been practicing?
- 9:00Speaker 3: No, I have not, I have. You know, I live
- 9:03Speaker 3: I live in Michigan, so there's been no golf. However,
- 9:06Speaker 3: last week I went out and played evermore in Orlando.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Have you guys played there yet? You were in Orlando
- 9:12Speaker 2: last week? Yeah, Wells and I were in Orlando last week.
- 9:14Speaker 2: I know, I was very jealous when I saw your post,
- 9:17Speaker 2: why don't you come to Joey? I'm like, Joey, Who
- 9:19Speaker 2: the hell is joe Oh that's right, Joey the most
- 9:22Speaker 2: recent and super popular Bachelor guy. But yeah, I saw
- 9:25Speaker 2: you guys post. I was so I loved it. I
- 9:27Speaker 2: love the post. I love that you guys were doing
- 9:29Speaker 2: this strut and I thought that was great. It was
- 9:31Speaker 2: out the Hilton Grand vacation and the Tournament of Champions.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Well that's why I was well, Well, Wells is so
- 9:37Speaker 4: damn good. He's a good golfer.
- 9:39Speaker 3: What I love about Wells playing golf and I and
- 9:41Speaker 3: I love I love I love this about you and
- 9:46Speaker 3: your brother as well, who I'm very excited to see
- 9:49Speaker 3: this week is that they are the perfect mix of
- 9:53Speaker 3: fun and golfing.
- 9:55Speaker 4: Oh, they're they're great people.
- 9:56Speaker 3: They there's never a shortage of cocktails, never a shortage
- 10:00Speaker 3: of infants.
- 10:01Speaker 4: Here's something that.
- 10:02Speaker 2: Here's something I said Bob that, uh, and I love
- 10:06Speaker 2: the Adams brothers so much and I love being around them,
- 10:09Speaker 2: I love playing like I just I love them. I
- 10:12Speaker 2: made a comment it was two years ago today on
- 10:18Speaker 2: on this trip.
- 10:20Speaker 4: Uh. They we were playing the Preserve out here and
- 10:23Speaker 4: in Moner on that place so much.
- 10:25Speaker 2: And one of the Adams brothers cracked open like a
- 10:29Speaker 2: high noon and it was, you know, that, such a
- 10:33Speaker 2: glorious sound. And I made the comment, I said, the
- 10:36Speaker 2: sound of playing golf with the Adams brothers.
- 10:39Speaker 5: And we might have a problem.
- 10:42Speaker 2: No, And Brett still to this day will bring that
- 10:46Speaker 2: comment up, like remember it, but it's never in this
- 10:49Speaker 2: like yeah, that was a it's like this like he
- 10:53Speaker 2: was like hurt.
- 10:54Speaker 3: No, really no, it's a point of pride for my brother.
- 10:59Speaker 3: One of the greatest compliments that was ever given to me.
- 11:02Speaker 4: I can't remember which one of you it was.
- 11:03Speaker 3: I think it was you Ben when you were like
- 11:05Speaker 3: you kind of remind me of Bratt, and I was like,
- 11:07Speaker 3: you do especially well. I didn't even know what, I
- 11:09Speaker 3: what we were talking about until I met him, and
- 11:11Speaker 3: I was like, what an amazing compliment that he's great,
- 11:15Speaker 3: because I really enjoy him, Like he is funny and
- 11:18Speaker 3: it's like, you know, I can see you could tell
- 11:20Speaker 3: he and Wells have that similar sensibilities, which I just love. No,
- 11:24Speaker 3: my brother, there are very few people in the world
- 11:28Speaker 3: that really are uniters and like bring people together. I
- 11:31Speaker 3: know I'm not one of those people, but my brother
- 11:34Speaker 3: is in you are as well. I agree that like
- 11:39Speaker 3: you guys are both handsome and like for some weird
- 11:43Speaker 3: reason like cut from the same cloth.
- 11:44Speaker 4: I could hang out with him.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Literally every day, Like It's part of the joy of
- 11:50Speaker 3: this trip for me is that the golf. The golf
- 11:53Speaker 3: is very challenging because I'm not as good as you guys,
- 11:55Speaker 3: and it's like I'm out there and I'm struggling, but
- 11:57Speaker 3: I'm having such a great time just with the mix
- 12:01Speaker 3: of people that we have out there, and your brother
- 12:03Speaker 3: is such an imperative part of that for me, because
- 12:05Speaker 3: I just I just love him.
- 12:07Speaker 2: There are unique people in the world, and I'm with
- 12:09Speaker 2: Wells where when they're there, you know that they're going
- 12:16Speaker 2: to kind of wrap their arms around the environment.
- 12:19Speaker 4: You do that, right? Does that?
- 12:21Speaker 2: I would say, wells does that too, But you know
- 12:23Speaker 2: it's going to be a little better because they were
- 12:25Speaker 2: there and you do that. Then well, you definitely do that,
- 12:27Speaker 2: but it is true with you And then I think
- 12:29Speaker 2: that's unique. But I meant it as not a compliment,
- 12:34Speaker 2: but like it is. When I think about playing golf
- 12:37Speaker 2: with the Adams brothers, I'm thinking about one wanting to
- 12:41Speaker 2: beat them, of course, and two it's going to be
- 12:44Speaker 2: competitive enough the where I like go to bed the
- 12:48Speaker 2: night before excited, yea to beat them, but chill enough
- 12:52Speaker 2: because the things will we flow in.
- 12:55Speaker 4: And then you hear like a light that sounded like.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Yeah, now we've gone away from that.
- 13:01Speaker 5: Now yeah, they both quit, but the.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Drinks will be flowing and so you'll have a great
- 13:09Speaker 2: day and it's just spectacular. Which I want to ask
- 13:12Speaker 2: you both actually, since we're sitting here, I ask you first, well,
- 13:15Speaker 2: is do you think having a drink on the course
- 13:17Speaker 2: makes you a better golfer?
- 13:20Speaker 4: Yes?
- 13:21Speaker 2: I hate that that's true, but I think it does
- 13:24Speaker 2: a lot of things. It puts me in a happier mindset.
- 13:27Speaker 2: And I think if you're happy on the golf course
- 13:29Speaker 2: things are going to go well. I also think I
- 13:32Speaker 2: can do crazy things when I'm a little drunk. But
- 13:35Speaker 2: also that's what golf is also what life is too.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I think that's why I like golf so much.
- 13:40Speaker 3: Is that.
- 13:42Speaker 2: The way to hit the shot that you want to
- 13:44Speaker 2: is you have to envision it. You have like manifest it.
- 13:47Speaker 2: If I'm a little drunk, I'm like, I could do this,
- 13:49Speaker 2: and then I'll do it.
- 13:50Speaker 1: You know.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It's when I'm questioning myself is when it goes the
- 13:55Speaker 2: shank happens, you know, when you're Yeah, if.
- 13:58Speaker 5: You just live your life like a little bit.
- 14:02Speaker 4: Was before noon, are do you? Are you a better golfer? Absolutely?
- 14:06Speaker 4: Like what's your drink of choice?
- 14:07Speaker 3: Uh? Tito's soda with lemon wedge? O lemon wedge, always
- 14:11Speaker 3: a lemon. We we were done it with a orange
- 14:13Speaker 3: I have recently and I really love it very nice.
- 14:15Speaker 3: Oh my god, I think I might even like it better. Yeah,
- 14:17Speaker 3: but yeah, so even last week, you know, I hadn't
- 14:19Speaker 3: played in two months and go out with a bunch
- 14:21Speaker 3: of my buddies who are very good golfers, and we're playing.
- 14:25Speaker 3: We're playing evermore, which is designed to be like the
- 14:28Speaker 3: where they play the well you guys, you guys played
- 14:30Speaker 3: in Scotland. Yeah, St Andrews and like, the first and
- 14:33Speaker 3: last hole are designed to be kind of a.
- 14:35Speaker 4: Replica type of hole or whatever that whatever they call that.
- 14:38Speaker 3: And and we're out there and I have a nice
- 14:41Speaker 3: buzz going because I haven't played, and I'm like, this
- 14:44Speaker 3: is gonna suck. All my buddies are like twos and
- 14:46Speaker 3: threes and I'm a fifteen or whatever I am. And
- 14:50Speaker 3: I get up there and on the first hole, I
- 14:52Speaker 3: chip in from like fifty out and I'm.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Like, oh, oh my god, this game.
- 14:58Speaker 4: I figured out this game. Then I was I'm like,
- 15:00Speaker 4: I am amazing.
- 15:01Speaker 3: And then I quit drinking for two holes, and feels
- 15:05Speaker 3: came off. I lost a sleeve of balls and I
- 15:07Speaker 3: went back to yeah, and then I was playing catch up.
- 15:09Speaker 3: So then I got two drunk.
- 15:10Speaker 4: Yeah. You know, there's a fine it's a fine balance.
- 15:12Speaker 3: But no, without question, like I I enjoy golf so
- 15:15Speaker 3: much more with a little buzz, because I do like
- 15:18Speaker 3: to have the music going.
- 15:19Speaker 4: I like to have drinks.
- 15:20Speaker 3: I'm usually not gonna be uh in the top tier
- 15:24Speaker 3: of golfers out there by any stretch, but I love
- 15:26Speaker 3: watching it, and I love the etiquette of the game.
- 15:28Speaker 4: So I like to keep it moving.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Like I'm I'm the worst golfer, but I'm never the
- 15:32Speaker 3: slowest golfer, you know.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's big.
- 15:34Speaker 3: I like to keep it moving. I'm like, and I'm dropping.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Let's go, you know, just don't be the slowest ever.
- 15:40Speaker 3: You can be bad. Just be bad fast, be bad
- 15:43Speaker 3: fast exactly, especially when you're playing with guys who are
- 15:45Speaker 3: really good. And it's like, you know, so my thing
- 15:47Speaker 3: is like I'm in charge of drinks, I'm in charge
- 15:49Speaker 3: of tunes, and I'm in charge of the fact that
- 15:51Speaker 3: my backpack weighs twenty five pounds, you know, two cases
- 15:54Speaker 3: of balls in there.
- 15:55Speaker 2: The other thing is that, like you, I know, I
- 15:57Speaker 2: do the same thing when I play with players that
- 15:59Speaker 2: are better than me than Like, I really want to
- 16:00Speaker 2: perform well. But no one cares what you're doing, right,
- 16:05Speaker 2: Like you know, it's all in your head. But like
- 16:07Speaker 2: you, I think everyone's watching. Yeah, no one gives everyone so
- 16:11Speaker 2: self centered and egocentric that they don't care at all
- 16:15Speaker 2: what's happening with you.
- 16:16Speaker 4: It's all in your mind as long as it's fast, exactly.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Yeah, well's what's your drink? Like, if you had your
- 16:32Speaker 2: ideal drink on the golf course, what would it be?
- 16:35Speaker 2: It depends. Why does it deather? Oh wow? Play a
- 16:41Speaker 2: bartender on TV, so I know this. So if it's
- 16:46Speaker 2: cold out, I really do just like a like a
- 16:49Speaker 2: bourbon knee. I think there's something really elegant about doing
- 16:53Speaker 2: like a whiskey run like a four whole thing at
- 16:55Speaker 2: like four pm at U during the wintertime. That's very nice.
- 17:00Speaker 2: But obviously if it's hot out, like there's nothing better
- 17:02Speaker 2: than like a really ice cold course light oh yeah,
- 17:06Speaker 2: which is almost it's almost like water like it's something.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But then also like I'm with you, the the tequila soda,
- 17:15Speaker 2: but I do the orange thing at art club. We
- 17:18Speaker 2: call it the fan Seka, and it's a drink that
- 17:21Speaker 2: is refreshing, but it's gout bite so it takes you
- 17:24Speaker 2: a while.
- 17:25Speaker 4: To drink it, so you don't like to just pound it.
- 17:27Speaker 3: Yeah you're Burbank, You're in Burbank, right, Yeah, Yeah, I
- 17:31Speaker 3: gotta love that course, man, like side great course, GOLLI
- 17:34Speaker 3: I love that. That might be one of my favorite.
- 17:36Speaker 3: First of all, it's one of the greatest courses to
- 17:38Speaker 3: fly over. As well, and it was it was Bob
- 17:41Speaker 3: Hope's home course, right yeah, and bing Crosby.
- 17:43Speaker 2: Golly, it's where it's where this where we're at now
- 17:48Speaker 2: kind of like started worn. Yeah, I would love to
- 17:51Speaker 2: be invited something anytime you're in La let me know.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I well, for for sure. Well, you know what I've
- 17:55Speaker 2: been liking recently. A Tom Collins. Oh yeah, I like
- 17:59Speaker 2: a good time. Will make a Tom Collins vodka Okay,
- 18:03Speaker 2: I actually I think mine's like a little bit of
- 18:05Speaker 2: a because you're supposed to have sugar and I don't
- 18:07Speaker 2: love sugar in my drink, so I do sprite with lemonade.
- 18:12Speaker 3: Okay, So it's sort of okay. So when you said
- 18:15Speaker 3: Tom Collins, I think I was thinking of a skipping
- 18:17Speaker 3: Go Naked.
- 18:17Speaker 4: Well, I think it's a gin. Actually, I think Tom
- 18:19Speaker 4: Naked Skipping Go Naked is one of my favorite. Oh
- 18:21Speaker 4: we did that last night. But what is the drink.
- 18:25Speaker 3: Skipp and go naked is vodka, lemonade and beer?
- 18:30Speaker 4: Oh light is the best beer.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Yah?
- 18:32Speaker 3: Yeah, So you do like a I don't know, you
- 18:34Speaker 3: probably do. The beer is the last thing, but you go,
- 18:37Speaker 3: you go your vodka. You do a little bit of lemonade,
- 18:39Speaker 3: maybe a splash or two lemonade, and then you throw
- 18:41Speaker 3: some beer on top for it's for the fizzle.
- 18:46Speaker 2: That's one that I didn't respond with, but it's true.
- 18:50Speaker 2: When I'm at the club, I drink a lot of lemonades,
- 18:53Speaker 2: like vodka lemonade, and then soda water to like a
- 18:57Speaker 2: little spress. You gotta want to sugar because bumban it
- 19:01Speaker 2: can be too sugary.
- 19:03Speaker 4: That's a great drink. But now the beer thing great,
- 19:06Speaker 4: figure out a boating you know, the drink and I've.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Never even heard of beer and vaka together be good.
- 19:12Speaker 2: But I think actually is supposed to be a gin.
- 19:14Speaker 2: But I'm just not a big gin fan. But something
- 19:17Speaker 2: like that, like it's so refreshing on a summer day.
- 19:21Speaker 2: And I only asked the question to you, Els because
- 19:23Speaker 2: I'm very similar. My drink of choice is very dependent
- 19:27Speaker 2: on the weather outside. Like my bird. I love a
- 19:30Speaker 2: good bourbon. Everybody listening knows I love a good bourbon.
- 19:33Speaker 2: I actually just sent me a great bourbon the other day.
- 19:36Speaker 2: But I like once the weather gets above sixty five,
- 19:40Speaker 2: you won't see that opened up again until it gets cold.
- 19:43Speaker 2: But like sitting by the fire with a glass of
- 19:45Speaker 2: bourbon neat reading my book or talking to Jess.
- 19:50Speaker 4: I'm all in.
- 19:50Speaker 3: See bourbon neat to me, you guys are true bourbon lovers.
- 19:53Speaker 3: Like for me, I've got to have a rock in there.
- 19:55Speaker 3: You got to have something because it's gotten. But I
- 19:58Speaker 3: will tell you I never had rye before. And I
- 20:02Speaker 3: was at a buddy's place in Florida.
- 20:03Speaker 4: We played.
- 20:04Speaker 3: He lives in Claremont, Florida, which is right near Orlando,
- 20:06Speaker 3: just outside of Orlando.
- 20:07Speaker 4: We played his home course. It was awesome.
- 20:09Speaker 3: We go back to his house and he's like, I'm
- 20:11Speaker 3: going to pour some rye and I'm like, A, probably
- 20:13Speaker 3: not my thing, man, I don't I don't really drink scotch.
- 20:16Speaker 4: He's like, no, this is different.
- 20:17Speaker 3: And he in of all things, he pours angels envy Rye,
- 20:21Speaker 3: who I've gotten to know for years to get the West,
- 20:23Speaker 3: who was the former I don't know what you call him.
- 20:26Speaker 3: He's not a brewmaster, but I don't know what you
- 20:27Speaker 3: would call that angels envy for many years. And now
- 20:31Speaker 3: he went off and started his own brand called Story,
- 20:33Speaker 3: which is really cool. But he pulls out this bottle
- 20:35Speaker 3: of angels envy rye and I was just like Holy smokes.
- 20:38Speaker 4: This is spectacular. Yeah, now we're.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Kind of in the mood for it tonight because it
- 20:42Speaker 2: is kind of chilly. A Rye old Fashion is a
- 20:44Speaker 2: very good drink. Oh, I have to try that. I've
- 20:46Speaker 2: never had that before. We're bartineering up here on the
- 20:49Speaker 2: show today.
- 20:50Speaker 3: On the hottest day, I will start off with a
- 20:53Speaker 3: transfusion or a or a screwdriver.
- 20:56Speaker 2: I had two years of a transfusion phase when I
- 20:59Speaker 2: was on the course tough, but it was just too
- 21:01Speaker 2: much sugar for me, and I was always like, you'd
- 21:04Speaker 2: have one, you know I I and Wells knows this.
- 21:07Speaker 2: I don't love the drink on the course. Yeah, I'm
- 21:10Speaker 2: too competitive. I get mad at myself if I like,
- 21:12Speaker 2: you should start trying because you've been losing recently. I'm
- 21:18Speaker 2: not getting my strokes from Wells that I should be
- 21:20Speaker 2: getting right now. I get five strokes from him around
- 21:25Speaker 2: and he's not given them to me anymore. What are
- 21:26Speaker 2: you talking about, golfer? Who in this group is the
- 21:34Speaker 2: biggest sore loser? I would say, well, me for sure. Yeah,
- 21:41Speaker 2: if I beat you, it affects you more than when
- 21:44Speaker 2: you beat me. Maybe it's just because if the expectation
- 21:47Speaker 2: is that you beat me. Yeah, I'm just an emotional being.
- 21:52Speaker 2: I know what I am. But it's really funny. We
- 21:54Speaker 2: were playing with Joey Uh. I was playing with Joey
- 21:58Speaker 2: in the like the final day of this Orlando thing,
- 22:00Speaker 2: and Ben was in the group in front of us,
- 22:02Speaker 2: and I started out, I think the in last place,
- 22:06Speaker 2: and I was like, I'm going to catch up, don't worry.
- 22:08Speaker 2: And then I started to catch up, and then I
- 22:10Speaker 2: was playing really well, and then things started going sideways,
- 22:14Speaker 2: and I know Joey started to catch up, and then
- 22:16Speaker 2: the last hole, Joey goes, do you want to know
- 22:18Speaker 2: what the point total is right now? And I was
- 22:20Speaker 2: like no, I don't, and he was like, come on,
- 22:22Speaker 2: to be really fun if you knew, and I was like,
- 22:24Speaker 2: I do not want to know.
- 22:25Speaker 4: Do not tell him? And he was like come on.
- 22:29Speaker 2: And so what happened was on the last hole was
- 22:32Speaker 2: a par five for us sucks. I I make Birdie okay,
- 22:38Speaker 2: so that's like three points. Joey gets up and down
- 22:41Speaker 2: for par that's two points. I ended up beating him
- 22:44Speaker 2: by one. Oh, so I was I was only up
- 22:47Speaker 2: by one. So he wanted to be like, get in
- 22:50Speaker 2: my head right now, and I was like, I'm not
- 22:51Speaker 2: letting you.
- 22:52Speaker 4: I can't let you in there. I be so angry.
- 22:55Speaker 2: So yeah, I know if he would have if he
- 22:57Speaker 2: would have parted that hole he tied with me.
- 23:00Speaker 3: He didn't know this. We were in the same group,
- 23:03Speaker 3: was Joey Tye. Then yeah, oh my goodness, that's a
- 23:06Speaker 3: good group you guys. One well done brother.
- 23:09Speaker 4: You Uh will we be betting this week on the
- 23:12Speaker 4: golf course? Yeah?
- 23:14Speaker 2: Yeah, here's here's really like my what we need to
- 23:20Speaker 2: like close out with here is we've been doing this
- 23:24Speaker 2: for a few years.
- 23:25Speaker 4: This is always special.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I didn't know Bob before like these trips started to happen,
- 23:33Speaker 2: and I I told, wells is today, Bob, I said,
- 23:35Speaker 2: And if I look at my top ten list of
- 23:37Speaker 2: favorite memories over the last ten years, Oh, you got
- 23:40Speaker 2: to have so many too, Like there's moments with both
- 23:45Speaker 2: of you in those.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Our various states of undress. Our NAPA trip was really special,
- 23:53Speaker 3: really fun, Wills, and it wasn't able to make that one,
- 23:56Speaker 3: but you and I had.
- 23:57Speaker 4: I just love those moments. Yeah, you know, the a
- 24:01Speaker 4: nice bonding trip for us.
- 24:02Speaker 2: It was great spend a lot of the time again
- 24:04Speaker 2: it was like, those things are fantastic.
- 24:06Speaker 4: We're gonna have that this week. I'm gonna ask you both.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Wells and I talked about a little bit ago, but
- 24:11Speaker 2: I'm gonna ask you both this question. I have two
- 24:12Speaker 2: more questions for the two of you. I want your
- 24:14Speaker 2: opinions to be shared. A lot of things has changed
- 24:17Speaker 2: in this franchise that has brought us to this point
- 24:20Speaker 2: and why we sit here today. And they just casted
- 24:24Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Paul, who we talk about very often right
- 24:26Speaker 2: now in this show as the next Bachelorette. All things aside,
- 24:30Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Paul is changing how we're going to be
- 24:33Speaker 2: doing this show for the next year. She is a
- 24:36Speaker 2: star that they've made the Bachelorette. It's like having a
- 24:39Speaker 2: Kardashi in a lot of ways that they talked about
- 24:41Speaker 2: now is our Bachelorette.
- 24:43Speaker 4: What do you think the Nator sisters are next?
- 24:45Speaker 2: Oh that's what I need out of this. I wanted
- 24:47Speaker 2: to ask you guys, like where do they go from here?
- 24:50Speaker 2: They keep doing it, They keep doing it. They also
- 24:53Speaker 2: have a reality TV show that's also a part of
- 24:55Speaker 2: the ABC Houlou family, and it like to me, Bob Mills.
- 25:00Speaker 2: If you're listening, it seems like such a home run.
- 25:04Speaker 3: So when you said that, I immediately thought of the
- 25:07Speaker 3: twin basketball sisters from Miami.
- 25:10Speaker 4: Oh, but that's not that obviously, No, it's not not
- 25:13Speaker 4: even close. The Native sisters Brooke, Grace and Mary and
- 25:16Speaker 4: Sarah Jane.
- 25:16Speaker 2: They're all beautiful but and great at being on TV.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Is it sustainable? Oh, I know who you're talking about.
- 25:23Speaker 3: She was on Dancing with the Stars with Yeah. Is
- 25:26Speaker 3: it sustainable to have a celebrity? So so they looked
- 25:29Speaker 3: at this a long long time ago. So I don't
- 25:32Speaker 3: know if you guys remember Krishelle from now. She was
- 25:35Speaker 3: on Selling Billings. I did Traders with her. Oh that's right,
- 25:39Speaker 3: you did. I forget about that. So many many years
- 25:42Speaker 3: ago they approached her about being the bachelor at she
- 25:44Speaker 3: was on All My Children with my ex wife.
- 25:45Speaker 4: Oh really, I didn't know. She was like, okay, yeah.
- 25:48Speaker 3: And it was really interesting because at the time she
- 25:53Speaker 3: was in this on again off again romance with with
- 25:55Speaker 3: one of my buddies too well, Graham Bunn, who you
- 25:57Speaker 3: guys know from you know, he was on the show.
- 25:59Speaker 3: He was on there at uh was it d Enna season?
- 26:02Speaker 3: I think yeah, Penna season, and and they you know,
- 26:06Speaker 3: and I loved Kroschelle Kroschelle. I got to know her
- 26:09Speaker 3: from my my ex wife and stuff. And when they
- 26:11Speaker 3: approached her, I was like, Oh my god, that's brilliant.
- 26:15Speaker 3: For whatever reason, I think she said no to them.
- 26:17Speaker 3: I don't think I don't think they would have said
- 26:18Speaker 3: no to her at the time. And she said no
- 26:21Speaker 3: because I think she got re upped for all my
- 26:23Speaker 3: children or whatever it was.
- 26:24Speaker 4: I don't really I don't know any of her business,
- 26:25Speaker 4: so I don't pretend to.
- 26:26Speaker 3: But it was one of those situations where I was like, Wow,
- 26:29Speaker 3: that was that would have been huge. Yeah, what a crossover,
- 26:32Speaker 3: because that's all Disney's about, right, is that synergy and
- 26:34Speaker 3: that crossover. And so I think it's really interesting now
- 26:37Speaker 3: that they finally did it, and it's gonna I think
- 26:40Speaker 3: you're right. I think the genie's out of the bottle
- 26:42Speaker 3: at this point, right, especially if she has really good
- 26:45Speaker 3: ratings on her season. I think that's going to really
- 26:47Speaker 3: kind of spell the future for the for the franchise
- 26:50Speaker 3: because it has been suffering over the last couple of years.
- 26:52Speaker 2: You guys were both a Bachelor, so you can look
- 26:55Speaker 2: at it through a different prison than I King said.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I was never the Bachelor, But you know, it's not
- 27:01Speaker 2: easy to be the lead, right, Like it's a very
- 27:04Speaker 2: very difficult job. And one of the reasons why I
- 27:07Speaker 2: think that this might be a great play going forward
- 27:11Speaker 2: is that there's no doubt that Taylor Frankie Paul is
- 27:14Speaker 2: very good at being on television and being the star
- 27:16Speaker 2: of the television show. Like you can say whatever you want,
- 27:19Speaker 2: but like, if you watch the Mormon show, she's like
- 27:24Speaker 2: the main character, right, And there's something about someone who's
- 27:28Speaker 2: really really good at being able to command the room
- 27:31Speaker 2: and own it and like be the star, which for
- 27:35Speaker 2: people who are not television stars beforehand, all of you guys,
- 27:39Speaker 2: it probably took you a little bit, right, Like that's
- 27:41Speaker 2: what the Bachelorette is. It's an audition process to see.
- 27:44Speaker 4: If you can asolutely right.
- 27:47Speaker 2: And I think it's a good thing. And you know,
- 27:50Speaker 2: I'm so far removed from The Bachelor and The Bacheorette,
- 27:53Speaker 2: but obviously I still work in Paradise. And one of
- 27:55Speaker 2: the things I've always fought for and I've never won,
- 27:58Speaker 2: but I feel like we're getting close to is why
- 28:02Speaker 2: does paradise have to just be people from the Bachelor, Like,
- 28:05Speaker 2: why can't it be people from the Challenge? Why can't
- 28:07Speaker 2: it be people from Survivor? Like who cares? Let's get
- 28:10Speaker 2: big stars in there, people who are good at making television.
- 28:14Speaker 2: Let's get them on TV. Like there was a season
- 28:18Speaker 2: a couple of years ago where we almost got Johnny
- 28:20Speaker 2: Bananas was supposed to come on the show, and the
- 28:22Speaker 2: connective tissue was me because I did a cooking show
- 28:24Speaker 2: with them, and I was like, you know, I was
- 28:27Speaker 2: sitting with producers and they're like, what is Johnny gonna do?
- 28:30Speaker 2: And he's gonna come in here and he's gonna blow
- 28:31Speaker 2: everything up and it's gonna be amazing television. Yeah, And
- 28:35Speaker 2: it ended up not happening because I think he won
- 28:37Speaker 2: the challenge. He's like, I'm gonna try to lose a
- 28:39Speaker 2: challenge and then come to Paradise, then you end up
- 28:41Speaker 2: winning it. But I do think that it's a necessary
- 28:46Speaker 2: change that has to happen. I think that the franchise
- 28:51Speaker 2: has been resting on their laurels for a long time
- 28:53Speaker 2: with just like it being this cultural phenomenon, and now
- 29:00Speaker 2: they're losing ground to the Love Islands and they're losing
- 29:03Speaker 2: ground to all the other dating shows. Evolution has you
- 29:06Speaker 2: have to get back to what made that show great,
- 29:10Speaker 2: which is like big television stars.
- 29:12Speaker 4: You know.
- 29:13Speaker 2: The big problem that that we have in Paradise is
- 29:16Speaker 2: that your co host got freaking married. Because she was
- 29:20Speaker 2: amazing in Paradise, right right, she really was.
- 29:22Speaker 5: She was a.
- 29:23Speaker 2: Great television star. She cried all the time, she got
- 29:26Speaker 2: so emotional. And I feel like this, this casting is
- 29:33Speaker 2: like getting us back to that thing. Yeah, I agree
- 29:36Speaker 2: with that. I'm uh, you're teaching me something right now.
- 29:40Speaker 4: I want to try to a little insider baseball and
- 29:42Speaker 4: I don't know, but.
- 29:44Speaker 2: No, no, it's good and I want to I want
- 29:45Speaker 2: to see if I can get my thought out. You know,
- 29:47Speaker 2: the show had to evolve, as you said, like it did,
- 29:50Speaker 2: and I think maybe and you correct me, you correct me.
- 29:54Speaker 2: I think the show tried to evolve, especially with what
- 29:56Speaker 2: we saw with Paradise last season, right yeah. Type of cameras,
- 30:01Speaker 2: different type of shots, different type of set up, all these.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Things, very different production totally like to all.
- 30:08Speaker 3: I want to talk to you about that because I
- 30:09Speaker 3: didn't realize we had that in comment. I work with
- 30:11Speaker 3: those guys all the.
- 30:12Speaker 2: Time, really, yeah, Scott, Yeah, nice, but I'm wondering if
- 30:17Speaker 2: the answer is what you were saying right in front
- 30:19Speaker 2: of us the whole time. The whole show didn't need
- 30:22Speaker 2: to evolve, but who was leading the show needed to.
- 30:26Speaker 2: Because when they announced Taylor Frankie Paul I was against it.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Not because of her, yeah, but because the idea that
- 30:31Speaker 2: we were going to bring in the celebrity to lead
- 30:33Speaker 2: a show that was supposed to be the common person
- 30:36Speaker 2: finding love.
- 30:37Speaker 4: But the show had to do something. It was dying.
- 30:41Speaker 4: And now they've done it. I think it will have
- 30:43Speaker 4: great ratings.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I think a lot of people tune in watch and
- 30:46Speaker 2: maybe that is the answer is for the next chapter
- 30:49Speaker 2: of twenty years, you're just picking who you know, somebody
- 30:53Speaker 2: that's out there who has a name known. The rumor
- 30:55Speaker 2: right now and I actually think based on what our
- 31:00Speaker 2: team did research on it's very likely to happen. Is
- 31:03Speaker 2: the next Bachelor will be Robert Irwin.
- 31:06Speaker 4: Oh yeah, the.
- 31:07Speaker 2: Stars said that a while ago. I could see that
- 31:10Speaker 2: that he might be too young. He's pretty charisma. How
- 31:13Speaker 2: young is he? He's the early twenties. But I do
- 31:17Speaker 2: think that that's if I'm but that's not a bad
- 31:21Speaker 2: jo Tiger. I'm thinking, well, this guy was huge on
- 31:24Speaker 2: he was magic on dancing, Yeah, twenty two years old,
- 31:27Speaker 2: Like he was huge on Dancing with the Stars. Obviously
- 31:30Speaker 2: everyone loves him because of the pedigree of which he
- 31:33Speaker 2: comes his family. Yeah and yeah, but also like, why
- 31:38Speaker 2: don't you do the show? You can do a show
- 31:40Speaker 2: with a twenty two year old just cast younger people
- 31:42Speaker 2: or well.
- 31:43Speaker 3: And also, you know, I think the one of the
- 31:45Speaker 3: things that's probably always been a flaw of the show,
- 31:48Speaker 3: if we're being really honest, is that it's a failure
- 31:51Speaker 3: if there's not a wedding at the end, right, And
- 31:53Speaker 3: I think that's in large part what kind of doomed
- 31:56Speaker 3: the Golden Series too, was that they were so pushing
- 31:58Speaker 3: for the marriage and then look what happened, right, Yeah,
- 32:00Speaker 3: everybody that and they get a divorce a month after.
- 32:02Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:03Speaker 3: So it's like I think sometimes, you know, creating a
- 32:06Speaker 3: couple that has some staying power can be equally as
- 32:09Speaker 3: victorious as someone getting down on ane And you can
- 32:13Speaker 3: still propose at the end, but it doesn't have to
- 32:15Speaker 3: be like a huge, star studed wedding.
- 32:17Speaker 4: You know, three weeks later.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It might be the only show on television right now
- 32:22Speaker 2: that could have huge celebrities lead it. Yeah, because every
- 32:26Speaker 2: other show, like you're not getting a Taylor Frankie Paul
- 32:29Speaker 2: to show up to Love Island, right, There's she's one
- 32:32Speaker 2: of twenty other people, right, but she's the lead of
- 32:35Speaker 2: the show. You could convince some really big names who
- 32:39Speaker 2: are twenty two in single or thirty six in single
- 32:43Speaker 2: to say, hey, we're literally you've been wanting to get married,
- 32:47Speaker 2: you've been wanting to find your part. We're gonna set
- 32:49Speaker 2: you up. Yeah, and you're gonna be a star of
- 32:51Speaker 2: this franchise. And I'm just picturing it here where like
- 32:56Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Paul gets married and like they're known for
- 32:59Speaker 2: getting married, like years later, twenty years down the road,
- 33:02Speaker 2: we're like, oh, yeah, they're that celebrity couple who got
- 33:06Speaker 2: who met on The Bachelor, and she was a celebrity before,
- 33:11Speaker 2: and it just rises even higher, like the name gets
- 33:13Speaker 2: even more prominent, and at some point they have huge
- 33:16Speaker 2: home runs like a Kardashian right, or I mean Taylor
- 33:20Speaker 2: Swift obviously is engaged in getting married, but like when
- 33:22Speaker 2: she was single, like somebody huge and everybody's rooting for
- 33:26Speaker 2: meeting somebody. All of a sudden they're leading a show
- 33:28Speaker 2: that you're watching them day on national television. I will
- 33:31Speaker 2: say this though, Yeah, you can cast a Kardashian, you
- 33:35Speaker 2: can cast a gigantic star. And this is no knock
- 33:38Speaker 2: on you guys. But the truth of the matter is
- 33:40Speaker 2: is that the show, really the stars of the show
- 33:44Speaker 2: is always the you know, if you're the Bachelor, it's
- 33:48Speaker 2: the all the girls there. If you're the bachelorte, it's
- 33:51Speaker 2: all the guys there. Right, And so Taylor Frankie Paul
- 33:55Speaker 2: might be amazing television and I met, I know she's
- 33:58Speaker 2: amazing television, but it really counts on casting of like
- 34:02Speaker 2: these guys that come with her, And so it'll be
- 34:05Speaker 2: interesting to see what happens, you know, back to your
- 34:08Speaker 2: point earlier of like it's it's unsuccessful, someone doesn't get married.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I think that's why Paradise has always been more successful
- 34:17Speaker 2: than the other two is because our stakes are lower.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Expectations are you don't have to get engaged. In fact,
- 34:23Speaker 2: I don't really care leave together lovely. I would love
- 34:26Speaker 2: that shot of you getting in that you know, that
- 34:29Speaker 2: black car together and drive, you know, and then and
- 34:32Speaker 2: then waiting two months to go do a reunion show
- 34:34Speaker 2: and seeing what's going on, don't really care. And when
- 34:39Speaker 2: you when I think when you tell the cast that,
- 34:41Speaker 2: because when you're doing the batch or the bats trade,
- 34:42Speaker 2: you're so like, I have to engage the whole thing,
- 34:45Speaker 2: whereas in Paradise it's like, yeah, you can leave if
- 34:48Speaker 2: you want whatever, it doesn't really matter. And then those
- 34:51Speaker 2: relationships end up lasting because they've taken the pressure off
- 34:54Speaker 2: of it and they're letting people be honest with each other,
- 34:56Speaker 2: you know, to your.
- 34:57Speaker 4: Point so long long time.
- 35:00Speaker 3: They had asked me to talk to some of the
- 35:02Speaker 3: younger bachelors coming up, and I remember I got kind
- 35:06Speaker 3: of some heat for what I had said at the time,
- 35:07Speaker 3: which I was like, guys, and I was. They thought
- 35:10Speaker 3: I was being too self deprecating, but I was being
- 35:13Speaker 3: genuinely honest. It was an assessment I had after the show.
- 35:17Speaker 3: I know Heather's heard me say it a million times,
- 35:19Speaker 3: but I was like, the show's not about you. Like
- 35:23Speaker 3: I would say this to whoever's gonna be the next
- 35:24Speaker 3: batchel Iman, it's not about you, and they're like, what
- 35:26Speaker 3: do you mean. I'm like, it's about the fact that
- 35:28Speaker 3: they just cast twenty five or thirty women who have
- 35:30Speaker 3: never lost a thing, especially to that chick over there, right,
- 35:34Speaker 3: you could be a monkey hand and not a flower.
- 35:36Speaker 3: They're gonna cry at the end of this thing because
- 35:37Speaker 3: they didn't get a rose, not because you're that great,
- 35:40Speaker 3: because you're not. I mean, let's be honest, ninety percent
- 35:42Speaker 3: of these dudes are trainers living in their mom's basement
- 35:44Speaker 3: at the end of the day, Right, I got a
- 35:48Speaker 3: little grief over that. You know, I'm not gonna lie,
- 35:50Speaker 3: but but the truth was, I really believed it. Like
- 35:52Speaker 3: I feel like if and I do feel like if
- 35:54Speaker 3: guys went into that, and I wouldn't say the women
- 35:57Speaker 3: so much because the Bachelrett series is a lot more successful,
- 35:59Speaker 3: But if guys went into that with a little more
- 36:01Speaker 3: of that humility and they were like, I'm working for
- 36:06Speaker 3: this relationship as much as they are, because that's really
- 36:08Speaker 3: what the mindset needs to be. But if the guys
- 36:10Speaker 3: are trying too, then but instead it's like the guys
- 36:14Speaker 3: think all these women need to kiss their ass because
- 36:16Speaker 3: they're the bachelor guy. That's not it at all, right,
- 36:18Speaker 3: And that's why this show I think has suffered a
- 36:20Speaker 3: little bit.
- 36:21Speaker 2: I think that for the Bachelor, the onus is on
- 36:23Speaker 2: the Bachelor to convince the audience that they are deserving
- 36:27Speaker 2: of what's happening, right, yes, right, so you have to
- 36:31Speaker 2: have that mental gymnastics, right, like, why are you so
- 36:34Speaker 2: awesome that the hottest twenty five girls are ladies are
- 36:39Speaker 2: here for you?
- 36:40Speaker 4: For you?
- 36:40Speaker 3: Why does this make any sense? And why are they
- 36:43Speaker 3: acting crazy and getting mad at each other and everything else?
- 36:45Speaker 4: They don't even know you?
- 36:46Speaker 2: Yeah, and that, like we talked about joe earlier, Joey
- 36:50Speaker 2: did a really good job of that, Like he's stand
- 36:52Speaker 2: up guy, athletic, handsome, all this stuff, and then like
- 36:56Speaker 2: he showed all those parts. And I think that that's
- 36:59Speaker 2: why that season was so successful is because everyone.
- 37:01Speaker 4: Was like, yeah, I get it, Yeah, I buy it.
- 37:04Speaker 4: I did.
- 37:04Speaker 2: That's one of the first seasons I tuned back in.
- 37:06Speaker 2: Yeah I get the Yeah, I would say too. The
- 37:10Speaker 2: lead is what we started this conversation out with. When
- 37:13Speaker 2: you are somebody who can change the environment of a
- 37:16Speaker 2: room by connecting people. I do think the season is better,
- 37:20Speaker 2: and I think Taylor, Frankie Paul and people who have
- 37:23Speaker 2: done television before are big enough personalities to set the
- 37:27Speaker 2: tone for the room. When when the women are there
- 37:30Speaker 2: and they're like Yeah, he's the bachelor and he's handsome,
- 37:32Speaker 2: but like, I don't really see this working out the
- 37:36Speaker 2: whole show. The tone of the show is going to
- 37:38Speaker 2: be different. The stars of the show are the cast,
- 37:40Speaker 2: but the lead has to be somebody that brings the
- 37:43Speaker 2: most out of the cast. Yeah, always the connective tissue
- 37:46Speaker 2: for everything, everything, because if the lead is not great,
- 37:50Speaker 2: the cast is going to be like, well, I'm cool
- 37:53Speaker 2: drinking wine in the hotel room with my girlfriends right now.
- 37:55Speaker 4: I'm also great friends on this journey. Yeah, they're not
- 37:57Speaker 4: going to be fighting over it.
- 37:59Speaker 2: They're not going to bed if they get broken up,
- 38:01Speaker 2: but they're gonna be like, this was fine. I went
- 38:03Speaker 2: to Scotland and hung out for four days. So I
- 38:06Speaker 2: do think this like the Robert R. Wins and the
- 38:09Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Pauls, I do think they'll have that factor
- 38:13Speaker 2: enough to where the cast will be like, no, if
- 38:16Speaker 2: I can marry a Taylor Frankie Paul, if I could
- 38:19Speaker 2: date her, like, she's so great, I've seen her on television.
- 38:22Speaker 4: I do think the cast will be a little bit more.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Like re like pulling at everything to be like I
- 38:29Speaker 2: want more time with her.
- 38:30Speaker 4: I want her to know me better, maybe willing to
- 38:32Speaker 4: compete harder.
- 38:33Speaker 2: Yes, Okay, so obviously the big cliche, overused trite thing
- 38:40Speaker 2: is being there for the right reasons. The only issue
- 38:43Speaker 2: that I can foresee casting these giant stars as the
- 38:49Speaker 2: lead is is the motivation for the cast that's trying
- 38:54Speaker 2: to date these people and eventually get married. Are they
- 38:58Speaker 2: there for the right reason? Like are you going on
- 39:01Speaker 2: Taylor Frankie Paul's season so you can maybe be on
- 39:04Speaker 2: Secret Lives of Barmon Wives season five?
- 39:07Speaker 4: And you know, like you would hope though.
- 39:10Speaker 2: The thing, I'm not saying that that's the truth, but
- 39:12Speaker 2: that's going to be something that's going to be brought up.
- 39:13Speaker 2: You know, it's going to be a storyline, right like
- 39:15Speaker 2: you're just here because you want to be on reality TV.
- 39:17Speaker 2: You don't really care about love. I can hear that
- 39:19Speaker 2: story right now. You would hope though, that that would
- 39:22Speaker 2: be My point was is like she could see that
- 39:26Speaker 2: quickly like those types of people, right, she'd be like,
- 39:29Speaker 2: you're not here to date me, You're here because you
- 39:31Speaker 2: want to be on television. It's not that dissimilar to
- 39:35Speaker 2: you going on the show. For Jojo watching her during
- 39:39Speaker 2: the season that I was the Bachelor, Right, It's not
- 39:42Speaker 2: dissimilar to me going on the show for Caitlyn watching
- 39:46Speaker 2: her on Chris Soul's this season, like it's I went
- 39:51Speaker 2: on there, and when I met Caitlyn for the first time,
- 39:53Speaker 2: I was starstruck, Like I was like, oh my gosh,
- 39:56Speaker 2: I've watched you for you know, three months of my
- 39:59Speaker 2: life on television and it just ended last night. And
- 40:02Speaker 2: now I'm in front of you and I don't know,
- 40:04Speaker 2: and I'm supposed to be like romantically interest. You're supposed
- 40:07Speaker 2: to be romantically interested in me, And I'm like, this
- 40:09Speaker 2: is weird. It's not that dissimilar.
- 40:12Speaker 3: It's not Yeah, it's like a suspended what do you
- 40:14Speaker 3: call that, suspended disbelief or whatever.
- 40:17Speaker 2: And then you get to meet I'm just telling you
- 40:18Speaker 2: what's going to be a story. I think you're I
- 40:22Speaker 2: think you're spot on. My point is you're spot on.
- 40:25Speaker 2: I'm just hoping that, like we're not watching television being
- 40:27Speaker 2: like Taylor, he's only.
- 40:28Speaker 4: Wanted to go on secret lives and more than.
- 40:30Speaker 3: Why, he doesn't actually like you, he wants to be
- 40:34Speaker 3: in a mom talk. I mean he doesn't, right, I mean, honestly,
- 40:49Speaker 3: final thing today is Wells and I just talked about
- 40:52Speaker 3: a little bit of goo Bob and I want to
- 40:54Speaker 3: talk about it the three of us together now, because
- 40:57Speaker 3: I do think it's a big deal. Somebody else that
- 40:59Speaker 3: made a start struck and somebody else that is creating
- 41:01Speaker 3: a show that Wells has commented on and said it
- 41:05Speaker 3: should just be called there for the right reasons.
- 41:08Speaker 2: Chris Harrison. Yes, our buddy, our friend is returning to
- 41:10Speaker 2: television after five years away.
- 41:13Speaker 4: Uh. He is going to be doing a dating.
- 41:16Speaker 2: Show that will be on a prominent streaming network. It's
- 41:21Speaker 2: gotten a lot of press recently for multiple reasons, one
- 41:24Speaker 2: of them being that in the caption it says they're
- 41:28Speaker 2: looking for people who desire a traditional marriage. Exactly what.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Yes, I this is this.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Is why our wives are friends. Yes, I know your marriage,
- 41:47Speaker 2: and I know that you expect a cocktail at five, dinner,
- 41:50Speaker 2: made house to be clean up. Yeah, you want your
- 41:53Speaker 2: feet rubbed at the end of the day. I know
- 41:55Speaker 2: that's how your life works.
- 42:00Speaker 3: Yeah. I think that's interesting the trad wife, because I
- 42:04Speaker 3: don't think LZ is a trad wife.
- 42:06Speaker 5: That's what I told well.
- 42:07Speaker 2: My point was, when we read this, we angles, you know,
- 42:12Speaker 2: we have to also understand that Chris does not live
- 42:15Speaker 2: in a world where a traditional marriage. Yes, right, but
- 42:19Speaker 2: when people have taken it to like being this idea
- 42:21Speaker 2: of what I was just joking about, which is like
- 42:25Speaker 2: the man expects the women woman to like make that's
- 42:28Speaker 2: not Chris now. So I guess my question that we
- 42:31Speaker 2: should end on the discussion here is one, what do
- 42:35Speaker 2: you think of him coming back on TV?
- 42:37Speaker 4: I think it's great for TV. Two what do you
- 42:39Speaker 4: think of this new show? I love you, dude.
- 42:42Speaker 3: I first of all, I love Chris Harrison, and I
- 42:45Speaker 3: think that Chris Harrison is great for television. I think
- 42:48Speaker 3: that he's a great person. I think that, you know,
- 42:52Speaker 3: what happened to him was horribly unfortunate. The situation that
- 42:55Speaker 3: he was in was horribly unfortunate. And I love Lauren
- 43:00Speaker 3: Zema and I love their relationship, and I think that,
- 43:04Speaker 3: you know, one of the things that I think that
- 43:06Speaker 3: will be great for that show will be that you're
- 43:08Speaker 3: going to have a really talented host who knows how
- 43:11Speaker 3: to help people work.
- 43:12Speaker 4: Through emotional situations.
- 43:13Speaker 3: I mean, Chris was part time counselor, part time therapist,
- 43:17Speaker 3: part time buddy, part time TV host. When I was
- 43:19Speaker 3: the Bachelor, and I remember thinking to myself, especially some
- 43:23Speaker 3: choices I made right at the end, I wouldn't have
- 43:25Speaker 3: made them had he not been a voice of reason
- 43:29Speaker 3: for me. And I think it really affected how people
- 43:32Speaker 3: have seen me since then, which is thankfully, very favorably
- 43:35Speaker 3: for the most part. And I think I owe that
- 43:37Speaker 3: to him. I think it's great. I think it's really
- 43:40Speaker 3: great that he's back on TV. I think that you're
- 43:43Speaker 3: right the portrayal of what this show is supposed to
- 43:46Speaker 3: mean with my traditional marriage, it probably just means two
- 43:50Speaker 3: people being monogamous to one another and you know, working
- 43:53Speaker 3: towards a great future. That's probably what they're using the
- 43:56Speaker 3: word traditional for, which is what's wrong with that?
- 43:58Speaker 4: That's wonderful, right, And it's like, when did that become controversial?
- 44:01Speaker 3: Yeah, that's not a controversial word, but you know, traad
- 44:03Speaker 3: wife and things like that, they're immediately pop into my
- 44:05Speaker 3: head when I hear that. You know, yeah, trust me,
- 44:08Speaker 3: I know the three of us don't have a marriage
- 44:10Speaker 3: like that, and I know that now that is he
- 44:12Speaker 3: so people don't have to be worried about that.
- 44:14Speaker 2: The other thing about Chris and I didn't say this
- 44:16Speaker 2: earlier when we were talking about it. But yeah, you're right,
- 44:19Speaker 2: Like you're getting a really good host, someone's really competent
- 44:22Speaker 2: about hitting his mark and saying the things and doing
- 44:24Speaker 2: all that stuff. And this is maybe still maybe insider baseball,
- 44:28Speaker 2: but like he's a phenomenal producer. Yeah, right, Like he's
- 44:32Speaker 2: really helping build this story because he's a part of it, right,
- 44:36Speaker 2: like he is. It's kind of not dissimilar to me
- 44:38Speaker 2: with the Bartender thing of like I'm invested in this
- 44:42Speaker 2: because I'm a part of this thing. You're seeing storylines
- 44:44Speaker 2: unfold and ye're going after people you know you're doing
- 44:48Speaker 2: and he has a very good mind for that. I mean,
- 44:52Speaker 2: there's there's a reason why that show was the number
- 44:56Speaker 2: one show for so long, and it had a lot
- 44:58Speaker 2: to do with that guy's mind back in the control
- 45:01Speaker 2: room being like I think we got to do this.
- 45:02Speaker 2: I think we got to do this, and him being
- 45:04Speaker 2: back on TV, I think you're gonna see that.
- 45:07Speaker 4: I agree.
- 45:08Speaker 2: I one of the things I've always respect about Chris
- 45:11Speaker 2: and I know and I don't believe I'm sharing too
- 45:15Speaker 2: much as a friend because it's it's a compliment to him.
- 45:20Speaker 2: If I was in the world of television for as
- 45:22Speaker 2: long as he has been, I could see myself getting
- 45:26Speaker 2: into the place where I was rooting against somebody like, oh, yeah,
- 45:30Speaker 2: we gotta nail on this storyline because they're freaking out
- 45:34Speaker 2: and we have an ability to manipulate this and make
- 45:37Speaker 2: this dramatic. Even in over drinks and a car ride
- 45:42Speaker 2: with Chris, when you hear him talk about his time
- 45:44Speaker 2: on The Bachelor, it's only out of a place of
- 45:47Speaker 2: support and help for the contestants that we're there now.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Things still happened that he just let happen because that's
- 45:54Speaker 2: what was needing to happen.
- 45:55Speaker 4: But he was.
- 45:57Speaker 2: Always a fan and rooting for and trying to help
- 45:59Speaker 2: out the cast to be the best versions of themselves.
- 46:03Speaker 2: And he did that for me. I know he did
- 46:04Speaker 2: that for you. He's done that for you, and so
- 46:07Speaker 2: I think it is phenomenal. I think he's it's we've
- 46:10Speaker 2: all agreed. It's great for television, it's great for him.
- 46:13Speaker 2: Five years away is too long for a guy that
- 46:15Speaker 2: was the most popular.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Oh he was.
- 46:18Speaker 3: Everywhere for a while there face in you know to
- 46:21Speaker 3: that point too. One of the things, I mean, again,
- 46:24Speaker 3: we're all friends, we're all friends with Chris, but he
- 46:26Speaker 3: also really didn't root against the Bachelor since he's been gone.
- 46:29Speaker 3: I mean, he was never a guy who he was
- 46:31Speaker 3: given many opportunities where he could have just been trashing
- 46:34Speaker 3: the show, and he didn't do it.
- 46:35Speaker 2: I want to be surprised if he watched the ratings
- 46:37Speaker 2: plummet and he went, I.
- 46:39Speaker 5: Mean, I don't think you could.
- 46:41Speaker 4: How would you not. It's kind of like me on
- 46:42Speaker 4: the golf course if Wells doubles.
- 46:44Speaker 2: I'm not saying anything you at the back of my mind.
- 46:51Speaker 3: I'm sure there was some of that, but man, I mean,
- 46:54Speaker 3: at least publicly, he never nod took a shot.
- 46:58Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 2: Well, I mean you know that show gave him a lot. Yeah,
- 47:03Speaker 2: I mean obviously thought was taken away and for whatever reason.
- 47:07Speaker 2: But like, I do think that he looks back on
- 47:11Speaker 2: that time in his life of being like really formative
- 47:14Speaker 2: and like really wonderful. Also, I think that maybe, like contractually,
- 47:18Speaker 2: he probably is not. Hey, this has been a lot
- 47:23Speaker 2: of fun, guys. We have a great night ahead of us,
- 47:25Speaker 2: a great week ahead of us. It's always fun to
- 47:28Speaker 2: be with the two of you and hanging out in
- 47:31Speaker 2: one of the most beautiful places on earth. I truly
- 47:34Speaker 2: believe that this is going to be fantastic. Thanks for
- 47:38Speaker 2: chatting about all things important in the world, like who's
- 47:41Speaker 2: going to be our next bachelor, who is what is
- 47:44Speaker 2: the bachelor going to do?
- 47:45Speaker 4: Chris Harrison coming back?
- 47:47Speaker 2: And then obviously a great segment on drinks on the
- 47:50Speaker 2: golf course. Hey, we'll be back very soon with more episodes.
