- 0:03Speaker 1: in studio. Check them out weekdays at 9. And of course,
- 0:06Speaker 1: they always have a packed show. But getting to know
- 0:09Speaker 1: y'all a little bit, let's get in your business. I
- 0:11Speaker 1: want to talk about first date experiences. So this girl
- 0:14Speaker 1: went viral because she had a horrible first date experience,
- 0:17Speaker 1: which made me think about the days of when I
- 0:18Speaker 1: was dating. It's so tough. I know you're booed up, Trent.
- 0:22Speaker 1: You've been with somebody for a while. still single?
- 0:24Speaker 2: Yes.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Do you ever go on dates still like, or?
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, every now and then. I don't think I've had
- 0:28Speaker 3: a bad first date experience.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Really?
- 0:30Speaker 3: I've just had people who were boring.
- 0:32Speaker 4: Okay, and you walked out.
- 0:33Speaker 1: I said, do you sit through that day or do
- 0:36Speaker 1: you leave? Because I usually am a sucker and I
- 0:38Speaker 1: would sit through it. There was one in New York
- 0:39Speaker 1: City where he was telling me how to design German
- 0:41Speaker 1: shoes and I was like, this is a waste of money.
- 0:44Speaker 4: Design German shoes?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I didn't care.
- 0:46Speaker 4: You're like, I don't even know the intricacies of that.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I just found my $ 25 or whatever to cover like
- 0:50Speaker 1: a burger I got and I was like, I'm out.
- 0:51Speaker 4: Get on out of here. Bray, when you're locked in
- 0:52Speaker 4: a dinner and dessert, how do you get out of
- 0:54Speaker 4: the boring one?
- 0:56Speaker 2: I see, I'm like Erica, I'm too nice. So I've
- 0:59Speaker 2: always stayed the entire time. But I remember one guy,
- 1:02Speaker 2: I went when I lived in New York City briefly
- 1:04Speaker 2: and He was just so boring to talk to.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Like, I would keep trying to ask him questions. He
- 1:08Speaker 3: was back for more.
- 1:09Speaker 4: And I couldn't get anything out of him, you know?
- 1:11Speaker 3: And I felt like I was talking the entire time.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Then I got a little lit. So I think I
- 1:16Speaker 3: was talking too much.
- 1:17Speaker 4: There we go. Leaning up to the date, was he
- 1:19Speaker 4: better in messaging? Like, he was a much better texter. Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 4: That happens often.
- 1:23Speaker 3: But our families had set us up. So I think that.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Was the other thing.
- 1:26Speaker 4: The familial connection.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It wasn't like an app.
- 1:28Speaker 3: It wasn't a random person.
- 1:29Speaker 1: The last time my family set me up on a date,
- 1:33Speaker 1: We were related by marriage, and it happened at a funeral.
- 1:36Speaker 3: No kidding.
- 1:37Speaker 1: Yes, at a funeral.
- 1:39Speaker 4: How extremely related?
- 1:41Speaker 1: It was my stepdad's nephew or something. So it was
- 1:43Speaker 1: by marriage, so we weren't blood related. And I went
- 1:46Speaker 1: on a date. I went on a date with a dude.
- 1:49Speaker 4: Was he kind of cute?
- 1:50Speaker 1: Hey, at least you didn't get married. I was like,
- 1:52Speaker 1: this is kind of weird. So it didn't work out.
- 1:55Speaker 1: But I hooked him up with my roommate in college.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Oh, then it all really did work out. Did they
- 1:58Speaker 3: end up together?
- 2:00Speaker 4: Just, they.
- 2:01Speaker 3: Briefly with David.
- 2:02Speaker 4: You're a matchmaker.
- 2:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 4: I was down the rabbit hole apps for a decade plus.
- 2:06Speaker 3: Have you had a bad day?
- 2:07Speaker 4: I was a founding member of Grindr. What?
- 2:10Speaker 1: Grindr's just a hookup site, though.
- 2:12Speaker 4: For me, I thought I was going to find marriage.
- 2:13Speaker 3: Well, maybe back in the day it wasn't.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Well, no, there always was. But I thought that it was,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I'm just going to find my prince on one of
- 2:21Speaker 4: these apps. And then you know how you see the profile,
- 2:23Speaker 4: you see the full profile, and then they're bald. Or
- 2:25Speaker 4: then they're quite large. Or, you know, which is great.
- 2:30Speaker 4: I like a rotund man, but not when they deceive me. Like,
- 2:33Speaker 4: I want them to look like their pictures.
- 2:34Speaker 1: They catfished you, yeah.
- 2:35Speaker 4: A little bit.
- 2:37Speaker 3: So how did you meet Matt?
- 2:38Speaker 4: How did I meet Matt? On the apps.
- 2:39Speaker 2: On the apps.
- 2:40Speaker 4: He lived down the street. It all worked out. But yeah,
- 2:42Speaker 4: I've had some tragic ones. One time I left an
- 2:44Speaker 4: apartment and he was like, you can go now. And
- 2:47Speaker 4: as I was leaving, okay, my shoes were off. So
- 2:50Speaker 4: I had to collect my shoes and I realized as
- 2:52Speaker 4: I was going down those dark stairs, it was Valentine's Day.
- 2:56Speaker 4: And it all hit me. I was like, wow, I'm
- 2:59Speaker 4: having this hookup and it's V-Day. And I'm being told
- 3:02Speaker 4: to leave. Oh, my gosh. No, but those things are
- 3:04Speaker 4: with me always, and I love them always. I hope
- 3:07Speaker 4: you found someone.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I want to dive in.
- 3:08Speaker 3: This is for podcast.
- 3:09Speaker 1: This is an extra bonus. Why did he tell you
- 3:11Speaker 1: to leave?
- 3:11Speaker 3: Y'all just hooked up, and you.
- 3:12Speaker 4: Like, yeah. Yeah, like, it was, like, over.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 3:15Speaker 3: Like, it's over.
- 3:15Speaker 4: Like, what are we doing? Yeah, like, so I get it.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Again, this part is for the podcast. But, so, my
- 3:21Speaker 1: bestie in New York City, when I lived there for
- 3:23Speaker 1: many years, was a gay man. And there would be
- 3:25Speaker 1: times we'd go to the bar together. And he would
- 3:29Speaker 1: leave with the man. And then I'm like, why don't
- 3:30Speaker 1: I leave with y'all? And I'd end up at his apartment.
- 3:33Speaker 1: I've seen some crazy stuff. But, like, yes, the hookup
- 3:37Speaker 1: phase would happen. And then it was over. And I
- 3:39Speaker 1: would just be in the kitchen or whatever. And I'm like,
- 3:40Speaker 1: y'all done? Everything's wrapped up? And he's like, yeah, he
- 3:44Speaker 1: has no need for him to stay. And I was like, oh,
- 3:45Speaker 1: my gosh, y'all are such hoes around here.
- 3:47Speaker 4: I know. Right? And I'm not saying I'm a jizzy prince,
- 3:49Speaker 4: but if you don't go far enough, then they're like,
- 3:51Speaker 4: you can leave now.
- 3:52Speaker 3: You know what I mean, guys?
- 3:53Speaker 4: That's what I'm saying. I wasn't, I'm like, okay, like,
- 3:55Speaker 4: can't we just cuddle? Because I'm not going to go further.
- 3:58Speaker 4: And he's like, well, why are you here? And I'm like,
- 4:01Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Because I'm 19 and I'm coming out. Aren't you like,
- 4:06Speaker 1: aren't you my hero?
- 4:07Speaker 4: He's like, honey, no.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'll never forget you.
- 4:10Speaker 3: It's midnight.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Don't. I had a guy, we are really getting into
- 4:13Speaker 1: our business. I had a guy fly all the way
- 4:15Speaker 1: from L.A. to New York to come on a date
- 4:17Speaker 1: with me. And he took me to like the Yankees
- 4:19Speaker 1: game or something like that. And he thought after he
- 4:22Speaker 1: was going to get some because he flew from California.
- 4:23Speaker 3: I was like, no, honey. I am a princess.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And you're not getting it just because you bought a
- 4:28Speaker 1: plane ticket. I don't care. Even if you came in
- 4:30Speaker 1: here on your own private plane, it's not happening. And
- 4:33Speaker 1: I just remember him being so disappointed. And I was like,
- 4:35Speaker 1: I'll drive home for you, but I'm not going any
- 4:36Speaker 1: further than that.
- 4:38Speaker 4: Oh, Erica!
- 4:39Speaker 1: That's where we'll draw the line.
- 4:40Speaker 3: And then he never called me again.
- 4:42Speaker 1: But now I still see him creeping on my page
- 4:45Speaker 1: all the time.
- 4:45Speaker 4: Really?
- 4:46Speaker 3: Honestly, that was his fault for assuming.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I was like, this girl don't put out like that.
- 4:50Speaker 1: I'm booted up for a long time before you get anything. Exactly.
- 4:53Speaker 4: You made an effort once, but don't act like you're
- 4:55Speaker 4: going to get the whole count for a friend. The
- 4:58Speaker 4: milk don't come with it.
- 4:59Speaker 1: You just bought a plane ticket.
- 5:00Speaker 4: That ain't... Uh-huh.
- 5:01Speaker 1: All right.
- 5:02Speaker 3: You want to dive in anything?
- 5:03Speaker 1: No, I'm not.
- 5:05Speaker 2: I was about to share my best friend's business, but
- 5:07Speaker 2: I figured I'd save it for later.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Okay. All right.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You can listen to them in their more professional setting. MyCarolinaCBS17.
- 5:14Speaker 1: I like to get in their business here at J.
- 5:15Speaker 4: Thank you.
