• 1:13
  You
• 1:13
  are
• 1:14
  familiar
• 1:14
  with
• 1:14
  the
• 1:14
  generosity
• 1:15
  of
• 1:15
  our
• 1:15
  Master
• 1:16
  Jesus
• 1:16
  Christ.
• 1:16
  Rich
• 1:17
  as
• 1:17
  he
• 1:17
  was,
• 1:18
  he
• 1:18
  gave
• 1:18
  it
• 1:18
  all
• 1:18
  away
• 1:19
  for
• 1:19
  us
• 1:20
  in
• 1:20
  one
• 1:20
  stroke.
• 1:20
  He
• 1:21
  became
• 1:21
  poor
• 1:21
  and
• 1:21
  we
• 1:22
  became
• 1:22
  rich.
• 1:23
  So
• 1:23
  here's
• 1:24
  what
• 1:24
  I
• 1:24
  think.
• 1:24
  The
• 1:25
  best
• 1:25
  thing
• 1:25
  you
• 1:25
  can
• 1:25
  do
• 1:26
  right
• 1:26
  now
• 1:26
  is
• 1:26
  to
• 1:26
  finish
• 1:27
  what
• 1:27
  you
• 1:27
  started
• 1:28
  last
• 1:28
  year
• 1:29
  and
• 1:29
  not
• 1:30
  let
• 1:30
  those
• 1:30
  good
• 1:30
  intentions
• 1:31
  grow
• 1:31
  stale.
• 1:32
  Your
• 1:33
  heart's
• 1:33
  been
• 1:33
  in
• 1:33
  the
• 1:33
  right
• 1:33
  place
• 1:34
  all
• 1:34
  along.
• 1:34
  You've
• 1:35
  got
• 1:35
  what
• 1:35
  it
• 1:35
  takes
• 1:35
  to
• 1:35
  finish
• 1:36
  it
• 1:36
  up.
• 1:36
  So
• 1:36
  go
• 1:36
  do
• 1:37
  it.
• 1:38
  Once
• 1:38
  the
• 1:38
  commitment
• 1:39
  is
• 1:39
  clear,
• 1:39
  you
• 1:40
  do
• 1:40
  what
• 1:40
  you
• 1:40
  can,
• 1:40
  not
• 1:41
  what
• 1:41
  you
• 1:41
  can't.
• 1:42
  The
• 1:43
  heart
• 1:43
  regulates
• 1:44
  the
• 1:44
  hands.
• 1:45
  This
• 1:45
  isn't
• 1:46
  so
• 1:46
  others
• 1:46
  can
• 1:46
  take
• 1:46
  it
• 1:47
  easy
• 1:47
  while
• 1:47
  you
• 1:47
  sweat
• 1:48
  it
• 1:48
  out.
• 1:48
  No,
• 1:49
  you're
• 1:49
  shoulder
• 1:49
  to
• 1:50
  shoulder
• 1:50
  with
• 1:50
  them
• 1:50
  all
• 1:51
  the
• 1:51
  way.
• 1:52
  Your
• 1:53
  surplus
• 1:53
  matching
• 1:54
  their
• 1:54
  deficit,
• 1:55
  their
• 1:55
  surplus
• 1:56
  matching
• 1:57
  your
• 1:57
  deficit.
• 1:58
  In
• 1:58
  the
• 1:58
  end
• 1:58
  you
• 1:59
  come
• 1:59
  out
• 1:59
  even
• 2:00
  as
• 2:00
  it
• 2:00
  is
• 2:00
  written.
• 2:01
  Nothing
• 2:02
  left
• 2:02
  over
• 2:02
  to
• 2:02
  the
• 2:03
  one
• 2:03
  with
• 2:03
  the
• 2:03
  most,
• 2:04
  nothing
• 2:04
  lacking
• 2:05
  to
• 2:05
  the
• 2:05
  one
• 2:05
  with
• 2:06
  the
• 2:06
  least.
• 2:07
  I
• 2:07
  thank
• 2:07
  God
• 2:08
  for
• 2:08
  giving
• 2:08
  Titus
• 2:08
  the
• 2:09
  same
• 2:09
  devoted
• 2:09
  concern
• 2:10
  for
• 2:10
  you
• 2:10
  that
• 2:10
  I
• 2:11
  have.
• 2:12
  He
• 2:12
  was
• 2:12
  the
• 2:12
  most
• 2:12
  considerate
• 2:13
  of
• 2:14
  how
• 2:14
  we
• 2:14
  felt,
• 2:15
  but
• 2:15
  his
• 2:16
  eagerness
• 2:16
  to
• 2:16
  go
• 2:17
  to
• 2:17
  you
• 2:17
  and
• 2:17
  help
• 2:17
  out
• 2:18
  with
• 2:18
  his
• 2:19
  relief
• 2:19
  offering
• 2:20
  of
• 2:20
  his
• 2:20
  own
• 2:20
  idea.
• 2:21
  We're
• 2:22
  sending
• 2:22
  a
• 2:22
  companion
• 2:23
  along
• 2:23
  with
• 2:23
  him,
• 2:23
  someone
• 2:24
  very
• 2:24
  popular
• 2:25
  in
• 2:25
  the
• 2:25
  churches
• 2:26
  for
• 2:26
  his
• 2:26
  preaching
• 2:27
  of
• 2:27
  the
• 2:27
  message.
• 2:28
  But
• 2:28
  there's
• 2:29
  far
• 2:29
  more
• 2:29
  to
• 2:29
  him
• 2:29
  than
• 2:30
  popularity.
• 2:31
  He's
• 2:32
  rock
• 2:32
  solid,
• 2:33
  trustworthy.
• 2:34
  The
• 2:34
  church
• 2:35
  has
• 2:36
  hand
• 2:36
  picked
• 2:36
  him
• 2:37
  to
• 2:37
  go
• 2:37
  with
• 2:38
  us
• 2:38
  as
• 2:38
  we
• 2:38
  travel
• 2:39
  about
• 2:39
  doing
• 2:39
  this
• 2:40
  work
• 2:41
  of
• 2:41
  sharing
• 2:41
  God's
• 2:41
  gifts
• 2:42
  to
• 2:42
  honor
• 2:42
  God
• 2:43
  as
• 2:43
  well
• 2:43
  as
• 2:44
  we
• 2:44
  can,
• 2:44
  taking
• 2:45
  every
• 2:45
  precaution
• 2:46
  against
• 2:46
  scandal.
• 2:48
  We
• 2:48
  don't
• 2:48
  want
• 2:48
  anyone
• 2:48
  suspecting
• 2:49
  us
• 2:49
  of
• 2:49
  taking
• 2:49
  one
• 2:50
  penny
• 2:50
  of
• 2:50
  this
• 2:50
  money
• 2:51
  for
• 2:51
  ourselves.
• 2:52
  We're
• 2:52
  being
• 2:52
  as
• 2:53
  careful
• 2:53
  in
• 2:54
  our
• 2:54
  reputation
• 2:54
  with
• 2:55
  the
• 2:55
  public
• 2:55
  as
• 2:55
  in
• 2:56
  our
• 2:56
  reputation
• 2:56
  with
• 2:57
  God.
• 2:57
  That's
• 2:58
  why
• 2:58
  we're
• 2:58
  sending
• 2:58
  another
• 2:59
  trusted
• 2:59
  friend
• 2:59
  along.
• 3:00
  He's
• 3:01
  proved
• 3:01
  his
• 3:02
  dependability
• 3:03
  many
• 3:03
  times
• 3:03
  over
• 3:04
  and
• 3:04
  carries
• 3:04
  on
• 3:05
  as
• 3:05
  energetically
• 3:06
  and
• 3:06
  as
• 3:06
  the
• 3:06
  day
• 3:07
  he
• 3:07
  started.
• 3:08
  He's
• 3:08
  heard
• 3:08
  so
• 3:09
  much
• 3:09
  about
• 3:09
  you
• 3:09
  and
• 3:10
  liked
• 3:10
  what
• 3:10
  he's
• 3:11
  heard.
• 3:11
  So
• 3:11
  much
• 3:12
  so
• 3:12
  that
• 3:12
  he
• 3:12
  can't
• 3:12
  wait
• 3:13
  to
• 3:13
  get
• 3:13
  there.
• 3:14
  This
• 3:15
  is
• 3:15
  the
• 3:15
  reading
• 3:15
  we're
• 3:15
  really
• 3:16
  talking
• 3:16
  about
• 3:16
  here,
• 3:17
  community
• 3:17
  care
• 3:17
  and
• 3:18
  mutual
• 3:19
  aid.
• 3:20
  And
• 3:20
  this
• 3:20
  passage
• 3:21
  from
• 3:21
  Second
• 3:21
  Corinthians
• 3:22
  reminds
• 3:23
  me
• 3:23
  of
• 3:23
  some
• 3:23
  things
• 3:23
  that
• 3:24
  I've
• 3:24
  witnessed
• 3:24
  in
• 3:24
  my
• 3:24
  cancer
• 3:25
  support
• 3:25
  groups
• 3:25
  that
• 3:25
  I'm
• 3:26
  a
• 3:26
  part
• 3:26
  of
• 3:26
  when
• 3:27
  someone's
• 3:27
  going
• 3:27
  through
• 3:27
  treatment
• 3:28
  or
• 3:28
  some
• 3:28
  bad
• 3:28
  times.
• 3:29
  It's
• 3:29
  amazing
• 3:30
  how
• 3:30
  people
• 3:30
  come
• 3:31
  together,
• 3:32
  sharing
• 3:33
  everything
• 3:33
  from
• 3:33
  meals
• 3:34
  to
• 3:34

• 3:35
  to

• 3:36
  That's
• 3:37
  pretty
• 3:37
  much
• 3:38
  exactly
• 3:38
  what
• 3:38
  Paul
• 3:38
  is

• 4:02
  happen
• 4:03
  when
• 4:03
  everyone
• 4:03
  on
• 4:04
  the
• 4:04
  court
• 4:04
  is
• 4:04
  working
• 4:05
  together,
• 4:05
  sharing
• 4:05
  the
• 4:06
  ball,
• 4:06
  making
• 4:07
  sure
• 4:07
  everyone's
• 4:08
  involved.
• 4:08
  Paul's
• 4:09
  vision
• 4:09
  here
• 4:10
  isn't
• 4:10
  about
• 4:10
  charity
• 4:11
  from
• 4:11
  above.
• 4:11
  It's
• 4:12
  about
• 4:12
  communities
• 4:13
  supporting
• 4:13
  each
• 4:13
  other
• 4:14
  so
• 4:15
  that
• 4:15
  everyone,
• 4:16
  everyone
• 4:17
  has
• 4:17
  enough.
• 4:18
  Second
• 4:19
  point
• 4:19
  to
• 4:19
  ponder
• 4:20
  is
• 4:20
  about
• 4:20
  being
• 4:21
  voluntary,
• 4:22
  not
• 4:22
  coerced
• 4:23
  to
• 4:23
  giving.
• 4:25
  Been
• 4:25
  married
• 4:25
  for
• 4:25
  almost
• 4:25
  34
• 4:26
  years
• 4:26
  now,
• 4:26
  and
• 4:26
  I've
• 4:26
  learned
• 4:27
  the
• 4:27
  best
• 4:27
  gifts
• 4:27
  come
• 4:27
  from
• 4:28
  the
• 4:28
  heart,
• 4:28
  not
• 4:28
  obligation.
• 4:29
  Paul
• 4:30
  emphasizes
• 4:31
  this
• 4:31
  when
• 4:31
  he
• 4:31
  says,
• 4:31
  I'm
• 4:31
  not
• 4:32
  trying
• 4:32
  to
• 4:32
  order
• 4:32
  you
• 4:32
  around.
• 4:33
  This
• 4:34
  is
• 4:34
  crucial
• 4:34
  for
• 4:35
  progressive
• 4:35
  Christianity.
• 4:36
  Authentic
• 4:37
  generosity
• 4:38
  comes
• 4:38
  from
• 4:38
  genuine,
• 4:38
  compassionate
• 4:39
  and
• 4:39
  community
• 4:39
  connection,
• 4:40
  not
• 4:41
  guilt
• 4:41
  or
• 4:41
  pressure
• 4:42
  like
• 4:43
  when
• 4:43
  my
• 4:43
  wife
• 4:43
  and
• 4:44
  I
• 4:44
  are
• 4:44
  taking
• 4:44
  a
• 4:44
  walk
• 4:44
  or
• 4:45
  going
• 4:45
  hiking
• 4:45
  somewhere
• 4:46
  in
• 4:46
  a
• 4:46
  state
• 4:46
  park
• 4:47
  or
• 4:47
  a
• 4:47
  national
• 4:47
  park.
• 4:49
  The
• 4:49
  idea
• 4:49
  is
• 4:49
  to
• 4:49
  leave
• 4:50
  them
• 4:50
  better
• 4:50
  than
• 4:50
  we
• 4:51
  found
• 4:51
  them
• 4:52
  because
• 4:52
  we
• 4:52
  want
• 4:52
  to,
• 4:53
  not
• 4:54
  because
• 4:54
  someone
• 4:55
  is
• 4:55
  coercing
• 4:56
  or
• 4:56
  making
• 4:56
  us.
• 4:57
  A
• 4:58
  third
• 4:58
  point
• 4:58
  to
• 4:58
  ponder
• 4:59
  is
• 4:59
  about
• 5:00
  transparency
• 5:01
  and
• 5:02
  accountability.
• 5:03
  Paul's
• 5:03
  emphasis
• 5:04
  on
• 5:04
  financial
• 5:04
  accountability
• 5:05
  is
• 5:05
  fascinating.
• 5:06
  He's
• 5:07
  creating
• 5:07
  systems
• 5:08
  to
• 5:08
  prevent
• 5:09
  scandal
• 5:10
  and
• 5:10
  to
• 5:10
  ensure
• 5:11
  transparency.
• 5:12
  In
• 5:12
  today's
• 5:13
  terms,
• 5:13
  he's
• 5:13
  basically
• 5:14
  saying
• 5:14
  we're
• 5:14
  open
• 5:15
  source
• 5:16
  about
• 5:16
  our
• 5:16
  finances.
• 5:18
  This
• 5:18
  is
• 5:18
  particularly
• 5:19
  relevant
• 5:19
  for
• 5:19
  progressive
• 5:20
  communities
• 5:21
  thinking
• 5:21
  about
• 5:22
  ethical
• 5:23
  resource
• 5:23
  sharing
• 5:24
  and
• 5:25
  distribution.
• 5:26
  Here's
• 5:26
  your
• 5:26
  action
• 5:27
  step.
• 5:28
  I
• 5:28
  challenge
• 5:29
  you
• 5:29
  to
• 5:29
  identify
• 5:29
  one
• 5:29
  way
• 5:30
  you
• 5:30
  can
• 5:30
  participate
• 5:31
  in
• 5:31
  some
• 5:31
  mutual
• 5:32
  aid
• 5:32
  in
• 5:32
  your
• 5:32
  communities
• 5:32
  or
• 5:33
  things
• 5:33
  like
• 5:34
  food
• 5:34
  pantries
• 5:34
  or
• 5:35
  clothes
• 5:35
  closets,
• 5:35
  things
• 5:36
  like
• 5:36
  that.
• 5:37
  Babies
• 5:37
  joining
• 5:38

• 5:38

• 5:40
  in
• 5:40

• 5:42

• 5:44
  Remember,
• 5:45
  it's
• 5:45
  not
• 5:45
  about
• 5:46
  having
• 5:46
  extra
• 5:47
  to
• 5:47
  give,
• 5:47
  it's
• 5:47
  about
• 5:48
  everyone

• 5:49
  in
• 5:49
  what
• 5:50

• 5:50
  to
• 5:51

• 5:51
  nobody
• 5:52
  goes
• 5:53
  without.
• 5:54
  We'll
• 5:54
  come
• 5:54
  back
• 5:55
  and
• 5:55
  have
• 5:55
  a

  in

• 5:56
  I
• 5:57
  just
• 5:57
  always
• 5:57
  like

  to
• 5:58
  share
• 5:58
  with

  you.
• 5:58
