Speaker 3: Good morning, Welcome to the show. Republican strategist Greg Thomas

Speaker 3: is going to be here. So much to talk about
• 1:53
Speaker 3: with mister Thomas. It's the last time he was on.
• 1:56
Speaker 3: He was it's been about a month or so since
• 1:58
Speaker 3: he was on. But think about it. In the world,
• 2:00
Speaker 3: politics on a national level, even on a West Virginia level.
• 2:04
Speaker 3: What has changed since that time? We had the Trump

• 2:09
Speaker 3: Biden stepping away, the RNC lots to cover with Greg
• 2:13
Speaker 3: and who knows what's to come, So we'll bring in
• 2:15
Speaker 3: Greg Thomas a little bit later on. Also, Sean Hill
• 2:17
Speaker 3: is here from KRT. Lots of stuff in the news
• 2:20
Speaker 3: the KRT here. Recently, public meetings have been held, a
• 2:22
Speaker 3: few plans floaded out to the public about some possible changes.
• 2:26
Speaker 3: Obviously a lot of concerns and questions and for about
• 2:29
Speaker 3: some of the proposed changes. The guy that knows is
• 2:31
Speaker 3: the executive director, Sean Hill, and he's going to join us.
• 2:33
Speaker 3: And I would say I haven't discussed with Sean, but

Speaker 3: if you want to call up and talk to Sean,

Speaker 3: to start off this morning though, by talking about some
• 2:54
Speaker 3: home and business security. Whether good friend Josh Beam of Jute, Jute,
• 2:58
Speaker 3: Josh Jute, Josh Josh the Jute, I don't know. Good morning,
• 3:01
Speaker 3: Welcome to the show.
• 3:02
Speaker 6: Good morning, Thank you.
• 3:03
Speaker 3: Thank you for being here. You know I've taught you
• 3:06
Speaker 3: guys been sponsoring the show for some time. I'd like
• 3:08
Speaker 3: to give my sponsors an opportunity to come and talk
• 3:10
Speaker 3: about what they do. But for those that haven't heard you,
• 3:13
Speaker 3: you were on the show last month. For those that
• 3:15
Speaker 3: haven't heard the whole story behind Jute and what it
• 3:18
Speaker 3: is you do, give us the elevator speech to thirty
• 3:20
Speaker 3: seconds about what Jude, it's Joot, what it is you
• 3:23
  Speaker 3: guys do.
• 3:23
Speaker 6: Yes, So we are all home in commercial security and
• 3:29
Speaker 6: automation business. We do video and different things like that
• 3:32
Speaker 6: as well. So we're out of the hurricane area. We
• 3:36
Speaker 6: service all through the state and surrounding states as well.
• 3:39
Speaker 6: So just do all kinds of different security needs.
• 3:42
Speaker 3: And even though as you said, you're based in the
• 3:45
Speaker 3: Hurricane Days Valley area, you folks go all over the
• 3:48
Speaker 3: country literally, right, but you did that your base is
• 3:50
Speaker 3: Hurricane Absolutely, how'd you get involved in this?
• 3:54
Speaker 6: So I've gotten involved with the Meek's family who owns
• 3:58
Speaker 6: it a little while back, and they had been the
• 4:02
Speaker 6: business has been around for about five years, but they
• 4:04
Speaker 6: really wanted to start ramping it up and having somebody
• 4:07
Speaker 6: be full time and start taking it over. So I've
• 4:10
Speaker 6: started to do that and just try to build it
• 4:12
Speaker 6: up as much as I can.
• 4:13
Speaker 3: And the biggest question that I get from people, and
• 4:15
Speaker 3: I know you get it as well, because I got
• 4:17
Speaker 3: it from like three people upstairs, they said, what is jute?
• 4:20
Speaker 3: What does that mean? It really doesn't mean anything, does it.
• 4:23
Speaker 3: It's just kind of a marketing thing, right, doesn't really
• 4:25
Speaker 3: stand for anything. And I think last time we had
• 4:27
Speaker 3: you on you told the story that basically Jute joot
• 4:32
Speaker 3: just flowed together. Well and you decided to go with it.
• 4:34
Speaker 6: Yep, so James and Thor are two owners.
• 4:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of where it started. Yeah, all right,
• 4:40
Speaker 3: So people are listening right now. They're say, well, I
• 4:42
Speaker 3: don't really have a need for a security system. I mean,
• 4:45
Speaker 3: I live in a great neighborhood. I will tell you this,
• 4:48
Speaker 3: and God bless you if you do. But unfortunately this
• 4:52
Speaker 3: is not a political statement. I don't want to get
• 4:54
Speaker 3: you involved in that. But neighborhoods that were once were good,
• 4:59
Speaker 3: many of them aren't so much anymore. And you could
• 5:01
Speaker 3: talk about the opioid crisis, you can talk about a
• 5:03
Speaker 3: variety of different things, but really we don't want to
• 5:06
Speaker 3: put the fear into people. But there's really not any
• 5:09
Speaker 3: neighborhood that that's that's consider quote unquote a good neighborhood
• 5:12
Speaker 3: where things can't happen anymore.
• 5:14
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 5:15
Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think, you know, it's one of those
• 5:18
Speaker 6: things that I hate that we have to have it,
• 5:21
Speaker 6: but I'm happy that we can provide something that helps
• 5:23
Speaker 6: you be a little bit more secure there because said,
• 5:25
Speaker 6: there's really nowhere that you can go that in a
• 5:27
Speaker 6: neighborhood that you don't hear about something going on, somebody
• 5:30
Speaker 6: trying to get into your car, in your home, things
• 5:32
  Speaker 6: like that.
• 5:33
Speaker 3: And people may be listening right now thinking, well, I
• 5:36
Speaker 3: just got a small home. I don't have money for
• 5:37
Speaker 3: an elaborate security systems. One of the things I like
• 5:39
Speaker 3: about you guys is that you do you'll work with
• 5:42
Speaker 3: people and whether it's a and we're going to talk
• 5:44
Speaker 3: about some of your bigger projects you've done, but if
• 5:46
Speaker 3: it's the smallest possible house or dwelling, whatever it is
• 5:50
Speaker 3: you're willing to work with their with their budgets.
• 5:53
Speaker 6: Yeah, I always try to tell people that I'm entirely
• 5:55
Speaker 6: no pressure sales. Whatever you feel comfortable with. I'll try
• 5:58
Speaker 6: to come into the house and and you know, tell
• 6:01
Speaker 6: you what I think looks best or what would would
• 6:03
Speaker 6: seem best. But I really listened to you, and I mean,
• 6:05
Speaker 6: you tell me what you want and we'll try.
• 6:07
  Speaker 2: To do that.
• 6:07
Speaker 3: And let's talk about the if I have a small
• 6:09
  Speaker 3: I have a small home. Okay, let's say I have
• 6:11
Speaker 3: a very very small home. What would you do for
• 6:14
Speaker 3: somebody just with the smallest of places.
• 6:17
Speaker 6: I mean, it just depends on what you want, Like
• 6:18
Speaker 6: I said, but I mean just doing a very basic
• 6:21
Speaker 6: system would be a security panel doing door sensors, glass
• 6:25
Speaker 6: break sensor if a window got busted, motion sensors, smoke detectors,
• 6:31
Speaker 6: things like that. So I mean it's the very basic
• 6:34
Speaker 6: system that you can get. You can add on cameras
• 6:36
Speaker 6: and different aspects like that home automation as well if
• 6:39
  Speaker 6: you want it.
• 6:39
Speaker 3: And the technology is amazing with I mean, we we
• 6:44
Speaker 3: have come a long way from you know, the old
• 6:47
Speaker 3: fashioned cameras that you have a giant monitor that sits somewhere.
• 6:50
Speaker 3: I mean, you monitor your home wherever you are. I
• 6:52
Speaker 3: could sit right here and monitor my house right now,
• 6:54
Speaker 3: and people do it all the time via apps and things.
• 6:56
Speaker 3: I could talk about the talk about the technology you
• 6:59
  Speaker 3: guys use.
• 7:00
Speaker 6: Some of the cool stuff we use Alarm dot Com.
• 7:02
Speaker 6: They're the largest national provider of security services, so we
• 7:06
Speaker 6: go through them and all of our products are backed
• 7:08
Speaker 6: by them. It goes into one central app that you
• 7:12
Speaker 6: would be able to control. You can get, you know,
• 7:15
Speaker 6: into different things like having door locks that can automatically
• 7:19
Speaker 6: lock whenever at a certain time in the day. You
• 7:21
Speaker 6: can have lights that can come on at a certain time.
• 7:23
  Speaker 7: In the day.
• 7:25
Speaker 6: You can get reminders to set your security system if
• 7:27
Speaker 6: you drive a mile outside of your neighborhood, things like that. So,
• 7:31
Speaker 6: I mean, it's very very specific to the person that's
• 7:35
Speaker 6: using it. You can use it however you want.
• 7:37
Speaker 3: With that talk with Josh Beam of Jute Security Systems
• 7:39
Speaker 3: to Dave Alan showing five Ady Live Bright to you,
• 7:41
Speaker 3: part by your hometown baseball team, the Charleston Dirty Birds.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: Birds be in a road series tonight in Lexington. For
• 7:46
Speaker 3: tickets promotion schedules, Dirty Birds geared more visit dirtybirds baseball
• 7:50
Speaker 3: dot com. This technology. And I'm not a big tech guy,
• 7:53
Speaker 3: but I mean when I sit down I talk with
• 7:54
Speaker 3: you guys before and you told me about this stuff,
• 7:56
Speaker 3: I thought, man, this is this is amazing. I mean,
• 7:58
Speaker 3: this stuff really really all right. So we talked about
• 8:01
Speaker 3: maybe smaller systems, but you also do these things for
• 8:04
Speaker 3: businesses as well. Telling me about some of the projects
• 8:06
Speaker 3: that you've worked on here lately as far as big
• 8:09
Speaker 3: projects for businesses and whatnot.
• 8:11
Speaker 6: So the biggest one lately that comes to mind is
• 8:14
Speaker 6: we redid the whole security system and camera set up
• 8:17
Speaker 6: at a sleepy Hollo golf course and hurricane. So really
• 8:21
Speaker 6: really enjoyed working with the folks there, just helping them,
• 8:25
Speaker 6: like I said, listen to everything that they needed. Just
• 8:27
Speaker 6: it was a decently long process just getting in, trying
• 8:31
Speaker 6: to figure out exactly what they wanted, really going over
• 8:34
Speaker 6: meeting with the board, proposing different things that they needed
• 8:37
Speaker 6: and wanted. But we were very happy to do that
• 8:39
Speaker 6: in the long run.
• 8:40
Speaker 3: I mean, I can't imagine what it would take, because
• 8:42
Speaker 3: you and I were talking in the green room about that, Josh,
• 8:44
Speaker 3: I can't imagine what it would take to secure a
• 8:47
Speaker 3: country club, you know, I mean, I got me with
• 8:49
Speaker 3: all of the camera because they're everywhere out there, right absolutely, yeah,
• 8:52
Speaker 3: I mean I can't imagine what you guys had to
• 8:55
Speaker 3: do in the war room to figure that out.
• 8:57
Speaker 6: I think they ended up doing around thirty cameras, So,
• 8:59
Speaker 6: I mean they had a system in place that was
• 9:01
Speaker 6: really run down or not run down, so but just
• 9:06
Speaker 6: an older says that needed replaced. And so we really
• 9:09
Speaker 6: worked on optimizing all the new locations that they needed
• 9:13
Speaker 6: to covered inside and outside of the business, and just
• 9:17
Speaker 6: really worked with the people that were going there.
• 9:20
Speaker 3: And just like we talked about Josh with residents, and
• 9:22
Speaker 3: you can also do things for smaller but not everybody
• 9:24
Speaker 3: needs a multi camera set up and is covering as
• 9:27
Speaker 3: much ground as what Sleepy Hollow Country Club is. But
• 9:30
Speaker 3: you can also do smaller the mom and pop stores,
• 9:33
Speaker 3: the little the little tanning salons. Whatever. I shouldn't have
• 9:36
Speaker 3: said tanning salon. That was a bad use of keV
• 9:39
Speaker 3: the term camera and tanning salon. Maybe I shouldn't have
• 9:41
Speaker 3: set restaurants. We don't do that kind of stuff, you know,
• 9:45
Speaker 3: we don't do that kind of stuff, But you do
• 9:46
Speaker 3: the outside. I guess right, I'm gonna stop this this
• 9:50
Speaker 3: line of conversation right now. There are a lot of companies, Josh,
• 9:53
Speaker 3: to do what you folks do in the area. What
• 9:56
Speaker 3: does it set your company apart?
• 9:58
Speaker 6: I think just being little bit smaller right now, just
• 10:01
Speaker 6: having that family mindset, Like I said, doing the no
• 10:04
Speaker 6: pressure sales. I really broughte us on that. Just being
• 10:07
Speaker 6: able to go into the home and completely listen to
• 10:09
Speaker 6: whoever I'm talking with there and just help you feel
• 10:12
Speaker 6: secure and safe at home. You know, some of the
• 10:13
Speaker 6: other bigger companies will come in and just slap some
• 10:16
Speaker 6: sensors on and just run in and run out, and
• 10:18
Speaker 6: they don't really care so much, you know what's going
• 10:21
Speaker 6: on with that. So I'm happy and proud to be
• 10:23
Speaker 6: able to be a part of a company that really
• 10:26
Speaker 6: really takes the time to focus on you well.
• 10:27
Speaker 3: And you folks are local too, that's the thing. And
• 10:30
Speaker 3: so you know, you you go selling somebody something that
• 10:32
  Speaker 3: they don't want or don't need, a can't afford, you're
• 10:34
Speaker 3: gonna run into them a Kroger. You know you're gonna
• 10:36
Speaker 3: run into them at church or somewhere. You know you're
• 10:38
Speaker 3: gonna know you're gonna know you're gonna know these people
• 10:41
  Speaker 3: if I call you and I and I and I
• 10:44
Speaker 3: asked you to come into my house. You sit down
• 10:45
Speaker 3: with my family and we don't know what we need?
• 10:48
Speaker 3: Uh talk, tell me to talk me through that process.
• 10:52
Speaker 3: What do you do? You sit around our dining room table?
• 10:54
Speaker 3: What exactly goes into that diagnostic meeting?
• 10:57
  Speaker 2: Okay?
• 10:58
Speaker 6: So, uh, you know, I actually met with a a
• 11:00
Speaker 6: family earlier in the week that was had been broken
• 11:05
Speaker 6: into a couple of times, and you know, just listen
• 11:07
Speaker 6: to the story what was going on with that really
• 11:10
Speaker 6: talked about the key features of what they were interested
• 11:12
Speaker 6: in doing. We talked about they were very interested in cameras,
• 11:16
Speaker 6: so that was first and foremost that's what they wanted
• 11:18
Speaker 6: to set up. And so through talking with that though,
• 11:22
Speaker 6: it sounded like they really wanted to do a security
• 11:24
Speaker 6: system as well. It just didn't know where to start
• 11:26
Speaker 6: with that. So once I started explaining how easy it is,
• 11:29
Speaker 6: how simple it is to all go, like I said,
• 11:31
Speaker 6: go into an app, be able to monitor it, be
• 11:33
Speaker 6: able to control it from there. It's very user friendly,
• 11:36
Speaker 6: even if you're not a techie person. Just explaining those
• 11:40
Speaker 6: kinds of things, they were felt a lot more at
• 11:42
Speaker 6: ease with it, felt very comfortable and wanted to do it,
• 11:44
Speaker 6: and went ahead and did a camera system as well
• 11:47
Speaker 6: with a security system. So really just listened to you.
• 11:51
Speaker 6: I mean, whatever whatever you're wanting with that.
• 11:53
Speaker 3: All right. The website is protected by jute yes dot com.

Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here. It's fascinating stuff to me.
• 12:04
Speaker 3: Sorry I took you down the I don't know, and
• 12:06
Speaker 3: I know we have some similar friends that I'm sure
• 12:08
Speaker 3: are listening to the show right now, and I know
• 12:10
Speaker 3: that people like Rich And I'm going to say, Dave,
• 12:12
Speaker 3: why did you bring up tanning salons when you're talking
• 12:14
Speaker 3: about cameras that that was not on Josh. That was
• 12:17
Speaker 3: just me. So we're we're gonna forget that hat withy

• 16:09
Speaker 3: Shan now would have said, butses Sean Hill, executive director
• 16:12
Speaker 3: of KRT, is with us, good morning, welcome to the
• 16:13
Speaker 3: show man, and we're not going to talk about this anymore.
• 16:17
Speaker 3: Let's get serious now. So lots a lot in the
• 16:19
Speaker 3: news about the KRT system, Sean, and some of the
• 16:22
Speaker 3: proposed changes that the system is looking at, looking at
• 16:27
Speaker 3: being the keyword, just trying to save some money. Let's
• 16:30
Speaker 3: let's start with how we got here. Why are we
• 16:32
Speaker 3: looking at the at the at the budgetary process, if
• 16:35
Speaker 3: you will of KRT.
• 16:36
Speaker 7: Sure, so again thanks for having me on here.
• 16:38
Speaker 13: And one of the things I recognized in the last
• 16:40
Speaker 13: several years that I've been at kr T is look
• 16:43
Speaker 13: and this is this way everywhere in the world, right
• 16:45
Speaker 13: what what you pay for something today is going to
• 16:47
Speaker 13: cost more tomorrow. So when you keep the same level
• 16:49
Speaker 13: of service over a course of ten or fifteen years,
• 16:52
Speaker 13: and you have the same revenue coming in as far
• 16:54
Speaker 13: as the different the safety levy funds, et cetera, and
• 16:57
Speaker 13: you're trying to maintain that level of service with a
• 16:59
Speaker 13: diminishing level of revenue, it gets to the point where
• 17:01
Speaker 13: it's impossible. And so this past May we passed a
• 17:05
Speaker 13: budget at KRT that's about one point three million dollars
• 17:08
Speaker 13: in the red. And you know, that's essentially paying your
• 17:11
Speaker 13: bills with your savings account and that's not something that
• 17:13
Speaker 13: we're comfortable doing at KRT and with the board. So
• 17:17
Speaker 13: we said, okay, what can we do to take a
• 17:19
Speaker 13: look at the services we provide trying to make our
• 17:21
Speaker 13: dollar go further in a way that's least impactful to
• 17:26
Speaker 13: our passengers. We want to make sure we provide a
• 17:28
Speaker 13: consistent level of service, but we want to do it
• 17:30
Speaker 13: in a fiscally responsible way, taking into consideration the realities
• 17:35
Speaker 13: of the budget we have in front of us.
• 17:36
  Speaker 3: So let's let's back up a little bit. I mean,
• 17:40
Speaker 3: is is ridership our dollars? Have they gone down?
• 17:44
  Speaker 10: They?
• 17:44
Speaker 3: I mean, what's the kind of less sure?
• 17:46
Speaker 7: We had a big impact with COVID. COVID hit.
• 17:49
Speaker 3: What happened Let's go back and review this one second act.
• 17:51
Speaker 3: What happened during to KRT during the months of COVID.
• 17:54
Speaker 3: Let's go let's turn the clock back now. Well, let's
• 17:57
Speaker 3: say March April twenty twenty.
• 17:59
Speaker 13: What did look like then exactly? So there were some
• 18:02
Speaker 13: real impacts. It wasn't just hey, you know, wear a
• 18:05
Speaker 13: mask on the bus. It was passengers who were nervous
• 18:08
Speaker 13: of going out so they didn't go ride the bus.
• 18:10
  Speaker 7: Okay.
• 18:10
Speaker 13: It was also a tough time for us with our
• 18:13
Speaker 13: operators of getting individuals to replace just natural attrition. Getting
• 18:18
Speaker 13: people to come work at kart et cetera was really tough.
• 18:20
Speaker 13: So that put an impact on us that made us
• 18:23
Speaker 13: change our schedules at times down to like what we
• 18:25
Speaker 13: would call a Sunday schedule where it's just limited as
• 18:27
Speaker 13: far as the service that goes to different areas and
• 18:29
Speaker 13: the scheduled times there.
• 18:31
Speaker 7: So that was impactful to us because it made our
• 18:34
Speaker 7: ridership go down. But not only that.
• 18:35
Speaker 13: The individuals who rely on public transportation, they do it
• 18:39
Speaker 13: because that's their means of getting to work, the doctor's office,
• 18:41
Speaker 13: grocery stores. Once they find another means to get there,
• 18:45
Speaker 13: which is what these creative individuals had to do, it's
• 18:47
Speaker 13: tough to lure them back to public transit once they've
• 18:50
Speaker 13: they've found an alternative means. And so our ridership dropped
• 18:52
Speaker 13: from around one point three million one point three million passengers,
• 18:56
Speaker 13: it's now hovering around nine hundred and eighty thousand a year.
• 19:00
Speaker 13: That goes down, and when that goes down to your
• 19:02
Speaker 13: federal allocation for grant funding, it's based on some of
• 19:05
Speaker 13: these calculations of ridership, population, et cetera. So you watch
• 19:09
Speaker 13: that good decline at the same exact rate. So that's
• 19:11
Speaker 13: tough for us to deal.
• 19:13
Speaker 3: With well, and I would imagine too, you know, we're
• 19:15
Speaker 3: living in a society now that since COVID, there's so
• 19:17
Speaker 3: many more people that are working from home exactly, and
• 19:20
Speaker 3: there were a lot of those people that may have
• 19:22
Speaker 3: that's taken a big impact, and we're going to be
• 19:24
Speaker 3: looking at this not only in the world of public transportation,
• 19:27
Speaker 3: but in office buildings and things of that nature. You've
• 19:29
Speaker 3: got more and more people working from home five days
• 19:33
Speaker 3: a week now exactly exactly, and that had to weigh
• 19:35
Speaker 3: into it as well. Again, we're talking with Sean Hill
• 19:37
Speaker 3: from KRT, Dave Allen showing five any live broad to
• 19:40
Speaker 3: part by Husband's pizza this month is your favorite Hustan's
• 19:42
Speaker 3: Order any regularly priced large eighteen inch pizza and get
• 19:45
Speaker 3: a two liter pepsi at no additional charge. How many
• 19:47
Speaker 3: customers use KRT on a regular basis? You said overall
• 19:51
Speaker 3: where we were the nine hundreds. I think you said
• 19:53
Speaker 3: nine hundred thousand. Okay, not a daily basis.
• 19:56
Speaker 13: Can give me a daily now exactly. So you started
• 19:58
Speaker 13: doing some Matthew, divide that by two or three trips
• 20:00
Speaker 13: a day. It's over three thousand people a day on
• 20:03
Speaker 13: a weekday, about thirty five hundred people who ride care
• 20:06
Speaker 13: to you on a daily basis. Again, that's getting to work,
• 20:08
Speaker 13: getting the grocery stores, doctor's appointments.
• 20:10
  Speaker 7: Et cetera.
• 20:10
Speaker 3: So what are some of the proposed changes that you
• 20:12
Speaker 3: looked at, breaking down specifically what's being discussed and we do.
• 20:15
Speaker 3: I think it is important to mention that none of
• 20:18
Speaker 3: these things are final. I mean, you're still just looking
• 20:20
Speaker 3: at things right now. But what were some of the ones?
• 20:22
Speaker 3: Because I've tried to follow along with the meetings you had,
• 20:25
Speaker 3: I know, our news team reported on it, and I
• 20:27
Speaker 3: saw some of the television, newspaper coverage, so on and
• 20:29
Speaker 3: so forth. There were a lot of changes, and a
• 20:31
Speaker 3: lot of people were concerned what were some of those
• 20:33
Speaker 3: changes that were proposed exactly?
• 20:35
Speaker 13: So when we went back to the drawing board and
• 20:36
Speaker 13: said how do we do more essentially with the same
• 20:38
Speaker 13: amount of funds or less, there were a couple of
• 20:40
Speaker 13: concepts that came out. They were looking at replacing some
• 20:43
Speaker 13: of these inefficient bus lines that were operating thirty three
• 20:47
Speaker 13: to thirty five dollars per person every time someone got
• 20:49
  Speaker 13: on the.
• 20:49
Speaker 3: Ball, and that's what it cost you. That's what you're saying, basically.
• 20:51
Speaker 13: Exactly when in a normal public transit agency would look
• 20:56
Speaker 13: at four or five dollars per person, we have some
• 20:59
Speaker 13: routes where we're looking at thirty dollars et cetera.
• 21:00
Speaker 7: Every time someone gets on a bus.
• 21:01
Speaker 13: That's hard for us to swallow and to say, hey,
• 21:03
Speaker 13: that's efficiency operating a it's best. So one of the
• 21:07
Speaker 13: options we proposed through this process was to take some
• 21:10
Speaker 13: of those extremely over subsidized routes replace them, in effect
• 21:15
Speaker 13: with an advanced service, which is this on demand service
• 21:18
Speaker 13: where instead of waiting for our bus schedule, Hey, every
• 21:20
Speaker 13: two hours, the bus is going to drive by. Call
• 21:22
Speaker 13: into our office, get on an app something essentially like
• 21:26
Speaker 13: an Uber or a lyft ride share service, ask for
• 21:28
Speaker 13: a vehicle to come. A smaller vehicle that's more cost
• 21:30
Speaker 13: efficient for us, comes, picks you up, takes you to
• 21:33
Speaker 13: one of the main lines for the same cost you
• 21:36
Speaker 13: ride the bus. You move on with your day, just
• 21:38
Speaker 13: the same fashion. That saved us money because we wouldn't
• 21:41
Speaker 13: need as many buses driving around essentially on route over
• 21:46
Speaker 13: and over again. We'd come out and actually make sure
• 21:48
Speaker 13: we're picking people up and moving them. That's tough because
• 21:51
Speaker 13: it sounds like on paper, hey, eleven routes are going away.
• 21:54
Speaker 13: I would argue that it's actually eleven areas that are
• 21:57
Speaker 13: being served in a new fashion, which doesn't rely on
• 22:01
Speaker 13: kart schedule. It relies on an individual schedule for where
• 22:03
  Speaker 13: they want.
• 22:04
Speaker 3: It's an interesting concept now that you think about it.
• 22:05
Speaker 3: I mean because again, under this, you would not be
• 22:09
Speaker 3: waiting on the eight o'clock bus if you have to
• 22:13
Speaker 3: be at work and I mean when you want it.
• 22:16
Speaker 13: It also opens the door to something neat and I
• 22:18
Speaker 13: think I teased it the last time I was here, Dave,
• 22:20
Speaker 13: which is this concept of not only just getting you
• 22:23
Speaker 13: to the bus route for the same cost, but if
• 22:24
Speaker 13: you want to go somewhere in this zone.
• 22:26
Speaker 7: Let's say you want to go to.
• 22:29
Speaker 13: Lola's from wherever you're at in South Hills, so you
• 22:32
Speaker 13: can do that, you can get home safely. Let's say
• 22:34
Speaker 13: you want to go to the airport. You've got a
• 22:36
Speaker 13: flight to catch and you don't want to pay them
• 22:37
Speaker 13: to park. Maybe you take a KRT plus to the
• 22:39
Speaker 13: airport and back for a little bit more money. Maybe
• 22:41
Speaker 13: it's ten or twelve dollars. Still that's going to save
• 22:44
Speaker 13: you money. What this opens up is everyone in Kanawk
• 22:46
Speaker 13: County that pays the safety levey, not necessarily everyone rides KRT.
• 22:50
Speaker 13: I want to increase the amount of people who are
• 22:51
Speaker 13: in a KRT vehicle. It's a return on the funds
• 22:55
Speaker 13: that they're giving us and in trusting with us, so
• 22:56
Speaker 13: they get the opportunity to actually use our service for
• 22:59
Speaker 13: something that's impact for to them as well.
• 23:01
Speaker 3: Now you had these you had a few one or
• 23:03
Speaker 3: two public meetings, Is that right?
• 23:05
  Speaker 7: Yeah?
• 23:05
Speaker 3: We had two public hearings, and now what what did
• 23:07
Speaker 3: you learn at those?
• 23:08
Speaker 13: We learned a tremendous amount and it was so important,
• 23:10
Speaker 13: and I really appreciate the public and the passengers for
• 23:13
Speaker 13: coming out and letting us know, and kind of the
• 23:14
Speaker 13: message there was, Hey, could is there a way to
• 23:16
Speaker 13: cut back instead of cutting out? So this was it
• 23:18
Speaker 13: was tough to swallow to say, hey, these eleven bus
• 23:21
Speaker 13: routes are potentially going away, and the question was, hey,
• 23:24
Speaker 13: are there some alternatives you could come to the table
• 23:26
Speaker 13: with that would not necessarily take the routes away, but
• 23:28
Speaker 13: kind of meet in the middle where you have this
• 23:30
Speaker 13: on demand service but you still have the fixed route lines.
• 23:32
Speaker 13: And that's some of the two options we came away
• 23:34
Speaker 13: with that our board is going to look at. Also,
• 23:36
Speaker 13: it's it's not just this extreme. Hey, the fixed routes
• 23:39
Speaker 13: are going away and now it's this on demand service.
• 23:41
Speaker 13: It's somewhere in the middle where we say well, what
• 23:43
Speaker 13: if we run those eleven routes half the time that
• 23:45
Speaker 13: we normally did in the past, and also introduce this
• 23:48
Speaker 13: new on demand service.
• 23:49
Speaker 3: And what was what was the response for the people
• 23:51
  Speaker 3: at these meetings.
• 23:52
Speaker 13: I think the response the first it was it was
• 23:54
Speaker 13: an educational process for us. The first meeting, it was
• 23:57
Speaker 13: a lot of anger, Hey, don't change this, which is understandable. Hey,
• 24:00
Speaker 13: it's been ten or fifteen years since KRT came out
• 24:02
Speaker 13: and said, hey, we're going to change your bus route
• 24:04
Speaker 13: and your service potentially. So the first meeting was rough.
• 24:07
Speaker 13: I got you know, they let me know how they felt,
• 24:10
Speaker 13: and I appreciated that. The second hearing was a lot
• 24:12
Speaker 13: better as far as just we gave real world examples.
• 24:15
Speaker 13: How would this impact you on a daily basis if
• 24:17
Speaker 13: you had to get from A to B.
• 24:18
Speaker 3: People don't like change, though, you know changes that's me
• 24:21
  Speaker 3: included exactly.
• 24:22
Speaker 13: Change is hard, but it's necessary and in a public
• 24:25
Speaker 13: transit system, you know, that's not the passenger's fault.
• 24:27
Speaker 7: That's shame on KRT for not being liquid over the years.
• 24:31
Speaker 13: We should If you make minor changes over the course
• 24:33
Speaker 13: of every six months eight months, it's a lot easier
• 24:36
  Speaker 13: to know.
• 24:36
Speaker 3: The major ones don't seem so major exactly.
• 24:39
Speaker 13: You do it every ten or fifteen years, and guess
• 24:40
Speaker 13: what people are going to come in, and they should
• 24:42
Speaker 13: they should let us know that they're not happy with it,
• 24:44
Speaker 13: because it's their service.
• 24:45
Speaker 3: One of the things that Sean that I find really
• 24:48
Speaker 3: really interesting is the number of younger people, and which
• 24:53
Speaker 3: is something that Charleston is really trying to attract right now.
• 24:57
Speaker 3: The number of younger people who don't drive. And I
• 25:00
Speaker 3: mean it's not about necessarily affordability or whatever. They choose
• 25:03
Speaker 3: not to drive, especially in other cities. And now we
• 25:06
Speaker 3: are seeing people, some people that are moving in and
• 25:09
Speaker 3: I just I find that very fascinating because you know,
• 25:12
Speaker 3: and again every generation is different. But my generation, the
• 25:16
Speaker 3: day you turn sixteen, you were at the DMV, you know,
• 25:19
Speaker 3: and it's not like that with a lot so are
• 25:20
Speaker 3: So are you seeing some younger people ride the bus?
• 25:22
Speaker 13: We're seeing that, and it's for different reasons, you know,
• 25:24
Speaker 13: maybe it's you know, car insurance isn't when it used to.
• 25:27
Speaker 13: But you know, the most interesting point to that, Dave,
• 25:30
Speaker 13: was when we've done some meetings. We've got some partnerships
• 25:33
Speaker 13: with West Virginia State and with the University of Charleston
• 25:35
Speaker 13: and you see told us say they have a tremendous
• 25:37
Speaker 13: international presence over there, you see, and the amount of
• 25:41
Speaker 13: students who don't have driver's license would would blow you away.
• 25:44
Speaker 13: So that's where this pilot project we're starting on August
• 25:47
Speaker 13: twenty sixth with this KRT plus on demand service. One
• 25:51
Speaker 13: of our partners is you see for that where you see,
• 25:53
Speaker 13: students will be able to get from their campus to
• 25:56
Speaker 13: the different zones that are inside of our system. And
• 25:58
Speaker 13: we think that's going to be really helpful because we
• 26:00
Speaker 13: know those young people are going to embrace whether it's
• 26:02
Speaker 13: the app or if they want to call into the
• 26:03
Speaker 13: office the old school way, that's cool too. But the
• 26:06
Speaker 13: fact that they're going to be able to use this
• 26:07
Speaker 13: and be a kind of a test case for us
• 26:09
Speaker 13: to soft launch it to everyone is really big for us.
• 26:11
Speaker 3: Now, what's that going to look like? I mean tried,
• 26:13
Speaker 3: I know it's on radio, but try to walk us
• 26:15
Speaker 3: through what this new service is going to look like.
• 26:17
Speaker 13: Yeah, and so it's really if anyone is familiar with
• 26:20
Speaker 13: an uber or lift service, it's a rideshare app where
• 26:23
Speaker 13: you log in and it knows where you are. You
• 26:25
Speaker 13: tell it, Hey, I want to be picked up here
• 26:27
Speaker 13: and taken Here are the options. You can go for
• 26:30
Speaker 13: a dollar fifty. You can get to a bus line,
• 26:32
Speaker 13: right because our goal is still going to be pushed
• 26:34
Speaker 13: people to the bus line.
• 26:34
Speaker 7: It's what we do. So for people who rode the
• 26:36
Speaker 7: bus in the pass, it's a dollar fifty. You still
• 26:38
Speaker 7: get there. For three or four dollars.
• 26:40
Speaker 13: You can get inside these zones. You'll see these when
• 26:42
Speaker 13: you log into the app. You'll see these different zones
• 26:44
Speaker 13: where you can go from one point of the zone
• 26:46
Speaker 13: to the other. Or we have what we call point
• 26:48
Speaker 13: of interest. When I mentioned the airport there so maybe
• 26:50
Speaker 13: ten to twelve dollars from any zone you can get
• 26:52
Speaker 13: to the airport. And maybe more of those points of
• 26:53
Speaker 13: interests come on eventually. But you log in, you request
• 26:56
Speaker 13: a ride, it tells you, hey, your ride will be
• 26:58
Speaker 13: here in X amount of minutes. We're pushing for a
• 27:01
Speaker 13: thirty minute wait as a maximum. It'll tell you when
• 27:03
Speaker 13: the vehicle's coming. You're going to have a drug tested,
• 27:05
Speaker 13: background checked KRT individual driving that bus or vehicle. It
• 27:09
Speaker 13: could be vans, et cetera. As our fleet expands and
• 27:12
Speaker 13: it takes you from point A to point B, just
• 27:14
Speaker 13: like you're used to with any other rideshare app.
• 27:16
Speaker 3: Is there a possibility at some point in the future
• 27:19
Speaker 3: that with these services that it may not be a bus.
• 27:22
Speaker 3: It could be as you set a car that picks
• 27:24
Speaker 3: you up and then takes you to eventually, because eventually
• 27:27
Speaker 3: you want to get people on the bus line.
• 27:28
Speaker 13: Exactly, eventually want to get people to the bus line.
• 27:30
Speaker 13: But we also want to embrace this concept of hey,
• 27:33
Speaker 13: you know, buses aren't getting any cheaper. Blow your mind
• 27:36
Speaker 13: when a bus, you know, six hundred thousand dollars for
• 27:38
Speaker 13: a bus, when you could go out and get a
• 27:41
Speaker 13: Toyota Ceno or a van and move some people around
• 27:43
Speaker 13: and actually get you know, thirty or forty miles per gallon,
• 27:46
Speaker 13: so being efficient that way, and also when you start
• 27:50
Speaker 13: driving those vehicles, you don't necessarily need CDL operators, which
• 27:53
Speaker 13: has been a real challenge for us to acquire, so
• 27:55
Speaker 13: you can get more people, hopefully in the talent pool
• 27:57
Speaker 13: who are working at KRT, and that way it's easier
• 28:00
Speaker 13: for us to maintain those services.
• 28:01
Speaker 3: And they wouldn't have to have the commercial driver's life essentually.
• 28:04
Speaker 7: Yes there, yeah, yeah, exactly.
• 28:06
Speaker 3: What a text here says, does scarete get any additional funding.
• 28:09
Speaker 3: It would be a real shame if KRT reduces services.
• 28:12
Speaker 3: Taxi service has caused me to miss at least five
• 28:15
Speaker 3: doctor's appointments. It's not good, which is amazing for the
• 28:18
  Speaker 3: capital city exactly.
• 28:20
Speaker 7: So, I mean we receive funding.
• 28:21
Speaker 13: The federal funding we receive safety levee is actually about
• 28:24
Speaker 13: fifty five percent of our funding. We have some other
• 28:26
Speaker 13: programs that we run through as far as funding through
• 28:29
Speaker 13: DHHR that brings in, you know, over a million dollars
• 28:33
  Speaker 13: a year. But again it's it's this ridership is a
• 28:36
Speaker 13: big thing for us, which helps our federal allocation, and
• 28:38
Speaker 13: then obviously the safety levees is huge for us.
• 28:42
Speaker 3: I've read anytime that there's a story that we do
• 28:45
Speaker 3: on social media or one of the other news outlets
• 28:47
Speaker 3: in Charleston, there's always somebody that comments and says, well,
• 28:49
Speaker 3: this system loses money every year. Why are we still
• 28:52
  Speaker 3: funding this system?
• 28:52
Speaker 13: What would your response to that be, I dare you
• 28:55
Speaker 13: to look at any public transit agency in the country
• 28:57
Speaker 13: or the world that actually makes money. That's not what
• 28:59
Speaker 13: we're in the doing. We are moving people from point
• 29:02
Speaker 13: A to point B. Fulfilling services and this transportation need
• 29:07
Speaker 13: that the individuals who keep Kanagh County in West Virginia running,
• 29:11
Speaker 13: A lot of those individuals ride the bus, and that's
• 29:14
Speaker 13: why it's such a tremendous need for all areas to
• 29:18
Speaker 13: have this, especially in urban areas such as you know
• 29:20
Speaker 13: in Charleston and Kanaha County. So we don't pretend that
• 29:23
Speaker 13: we make money. We want to do the most we
• 29:25
Speaker 13: can with the funds that we are you know, are
• 29:28
Speaker 13: handed from those citizens, and we want to make sure
• 29:30
Speaker 13: they can entrust us with the use of those funds.
• 29:33
Speaker 13: But no, we don't pretend we make money. We're moving
• 29:35
Speaker 13: people around who are making money and adding money to
• 29:37
  Speaker 13: the economy.
• 29:38
Speaker 3: And I think it's important that we don't look at
• 29:40
Speaker 3: this as as the Texas said, at reducing services. We
• 29:43
Speaker 3: look at this as just a different way to offer
• 29:46
Speaker 3: the same services. That's basically the way what I'm hearing
• 29:48
Speaker 3: you say to them.
• 29:49
Speaker 13: Exactly what we want to do is give people the
• 29:51
Speaker 13: option to live on their schedule, not ours necessarily, but
• 29:54
Speaker 13: also try to do more with the same amount of
• 29:56
Speaker 13: money or less money. As again, like I said, everything
• 29:58
Speaker 13: costs more tomorrow than it did today. So if we
• 30:00
Speaker 13: can embrace technology and some of this change, and it's tough,
• 30:02
Speaker 13: and I understand that entirely, but we're doing it in
• 30:05
Speaker 13: a methodical manner where we're not going to move so
• 30:08
Speaker 13: fast as to fail.
• 30:09
Speaker 7: We don't want to fail with this.
• 30:10
Speaker 13: We're going to do this in phases and it's going
• 30:12
Speaker 13: to be timed out based on the reaction we get
• 30:14
Speaker 13: from our passengers to make sure.
• 30:15
Speaker 7: We do it right.
• 30:16
Speaker 3: I had a texture, so please make sure cash options
• 30:18
Speaker 3: are available. I've had some bad experiences with Uber sends
• 30:21
  Speaker 3: a texter.
• 30:22
Speaker 13: Yes, So we recognize that cash is still the primary
• 30:26
Speaker 13: source of transactions in our system. We're not going away
• 30:30
Speaker 13: from that, but we are also embracing mobile ticketing also,
• 30:34
Speaker 13: which allows us to people to essentially load up a
• 30:36
Speaker 13: card like you would, you know, anywhere, and that.
• 30:40
Speaker 7: Allows us to create a system.
• 30:41
Speaker 13: It's a new service called fare capping where if you
• 30:44
Speaker 13: spend a certain x amount of dollars in a thirty
• 30:45
Speaker 13: one day period, Kart doesn't charge you anymore. So it's
• 30:49
Speaker 13: an incentive for people to use that and it also
• 30:52
Speaker 13: helps with just getting on and off the bus in
• 30:53
  Speaker 13: a quicker fashion.
• 30:54
Speaker 3: All right, give us the date again. When you're hoping
• 30:56
Speaker 3: to get everything with this with the app you talked about.
• 30:58
Speaker 7: Yep. So the app is going to launch on August
• 31:00
  Speaker 7: twenty sixth.
• 31:00
Speaker 13: We're going to do an event on the twenty third,
• 31:02
Speaker 13: but our board is meeting on the thirteenth and the
• 31:05
Speaker 13: twenty second to talk more about these proposed changes.
• 31:07
Speaker 7: So we'll keep you updated.
• 31:08
Speaker 3: All right, what's the website?
• 31:09
Speaker 7: People need more from me right on KRT dot com.
• 31:12
Speaker 3: All right, Sean, I appreciate you being here, man, Thanks
• 31:13
Speaker 3: a lot. Twenty two minutes away from ten and I'll
• 31:16
Speaker 3: give you a little bit of advice here. When you
• 31:18
Speaker 3: have your you have like a public education system, maybe
• 31:21
Speaker 3: you should get some like young people, you know, to
• 31:23
Speaker 3: come in to explain how apps work exactly.
• 31:25
Speaker 7: This is the Internet.
• 31:26
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm just saying a lot of my phone nowadays.
• 31:30
Speaker 3: I'm gonna say a lot of a lot of people.
• 31:32
  Speaker 10: Maybe.
• 31:32
Speaker 3: Well, when you say app, it does kind of scare
• 31:35
  Speaker 3: some people.
• 31:36
Speaker 7: It does. They can call in our para change.
• 31:38
Speaker 13: The service has been using this for the past year
• 31:39
Speaker 13: in the background, and they may not even know it
• 31:41
Speaker 13: because they can still call in just like they were
• 31:43
Speaker 13: never on an app.
• 31:43
Speaker 3: Okay, we want to make sure we embrace that all right, Jean,
• 31:46
Speaker 3: I appreciate you being here man. Thanks a lot to

Speaker 3: him on the way out and wanted it was kind
• 34:10
Speaker 3: of a long text, but to ask does KRT have
• 34:12
Speaker 3: a bus route the link of mccorkeyl from Kenas City
• 34:15
Speaker 3: to the West Side. Sean said, no, they do not currently.
• 34:18
Speaker 3: However he did. He actually read the text as he
• 34:21
Speaker 3: was on his way out the door and he said,
• 34:22
Speaker 3: we're going to take a look at that, and we
• 34:23

• 34:51
Speaker 3: She texted me yesterday. You may have seen the story
• 34:54
Speaker 3: in the news about the widespread listeria outbreak that was
• 34:57
Speaker 3: found in several varieties of lunch meets across the country.
• 35:00
Speaker 3: It's pretty scary stuff. Melli texts me, always a marketer,
• 35:03
Speaker 3: and said, please mention that at the Shape Shop that
• 35:08
Speaker 3: all of our meats are safe. Our meats, fish and
• 35:10
Speaker 3: poultry from the Shape Shop are never ever processed, so
• 35:13
Speaker 3: we've got merely taking care of well.
• 35:15
Speaker 10: Some people you know well need We'll want to know
• 35:18
  Speaker 10: that information.
• 35:19
Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, Greg Thomas is here. How you doing man?
• 35:21
Speaker 10: Doing well? Dave? How are you?
• 35:23
Speaker 3: I'm doing well, having a good summer with the kids
• 35:25
Speaker 3: and family and so well. Are always a busy gay man.
• 35:27
Speaker 17: Well, we you know, we uh, you know, after you
• 35:29
Speaker 17: go through the campaign season that we had, and I
• 35:33
  Speaker 17: had a lot.
• 35:33
Speaker 10: Of different stuff going on.
• 35:36
Speaker 17: You know, you're just so busy with that that you
• 35:38
Speaker 17: kind of put so much of your life on hold,
• 35:40
Speaker 17: and then you know, it takes a couple of months
• 35:42
Speaker 17: to like get caught up on like.
• 35:43
Speaker 10: Just your your house and your life and your stuff, and.
• 35:47
Speaker 17: You know, but we're having fun with a lot of
• 35:49
Speaker 17: different youth activities this summer and actually spending you know,
• 35:53
Speaker 17: going on a couple of vacations and things like that,
• 35:55
Speaker 17: and actually got one one more little trip to go
• 35:58
Speaker 17: and then school starts, and then will be you know,
• 36:01
Speaker 17: back into it, and you'll be ready.
• 36:02
Speaker 3: To get back on the campaigns again, or at least
• 36:05
Speaker 3: following them, I'll put it that way. So I was
• 36:07
Speaker 3: thinking about this earlier. So much has happened since the
• 36:09
Speaker 3: last time you were on the show. It feels like
• 36:11
Speaker 3: it was practically like nineteen eighty nine the last time
• 36:13
Speaker 3: that you were here, because so much has happened. Let's
• 36:16
Speaker 3: start with the Trump assassination attempt. Now, I have known you,
• 36:19
Speaker 3: Greg for a long long time. I know you're not
• 36:21
Speaker 3: a really really big conspiracy theory guy, norhere am I.
• 36:25
Speaker 3: But overall, your thoughts on what happened that day in Butler, Tennsylvania.
• 36:28
  Speaker 10: I don't.
• 36:29
Speaker 17: I don't think we will know. We may never know
• 36:34
Speaker 17: the truth. I think that we could potentially know if
• 36:38
Speaker 17: Trump wins and really gets to the bottom of it.
• 36:41
Speaker 17: I mean, but short of if Trump doesn't win, we'll
• 36:43
  Speaker 17: never know.
• 36:44
Speaker 10: Yeah, we'll never know.
• 36:45
Speaker 17: I mean, those guys, it looks to me like just
• 36:47
  Speaker 17: totally neptis. I think it's I think it's there's a
• 36:51
  Speaker 17: there's a chance that it's ineptis.
• 36:52
  Speaker 10: There's a chance. I don't.
• 36:54
  Speaker 17: Look, I don't I don't rule out the deep state
• 36:58
Speaker 17: sort of stuff. I mean, I think that stuff happens.
• 37:00
Speaker 17: I think for the people that and I'm not saying
• 37:04
Speaker 17: it did happen that way, but for the people that say, oh,
• 37:06
Speaker 17: there's no way that happened, you know that that doesn't
• 37:09
Speaker 17: happen in the United States. I just don't think that's
• 37:11
Speaker 17: who we are. I don't think you know that's who
• 37:14
Speaker 17: we are as a country anymore, right. I mean, I
• 37:15
Speaker 17: think if you if this happened in another country, you
• 37:18
Speaker 17: would immediately be like, oh, well, the government tried to
• 37:20
Speaker 17: kill them or whatever. I just don't think we're that
• 37:24
Speaker 17: much above the other countries. At this point to say
• 37:28
Speaker 17: that to where you just.
• 37:29
Speaker 3: Rule it out entirely, I would I would agree with
• 37:31
  Speaker 3: that rule.
• 37:32
  Speaker 10: It out entirely.
• 37:32
Speaker 17: I mean, I think you and but you'll never know
• 37:34
Speaker 17: with a group of people that are in there now.
• 37:36
Speaker 17: I mean, these are some of the the most you know,
• 37:38
Speaker 17: we have one of the most corrupt countries in the
• 37:41
  Speaker 17: world right now.
• 37:43
Speaker 3: Is it because of this administration or does it go
• 37:45
  Speaker 3: I think it's.
• 37:46
Speaker 17: Oh, I think it's I think it's been happening for decades.
• 37:48
Speaker 17: I mean, I think this is this this administration is
• 37:50
Speaker 17: the worst, But I think it's been happening for decades.
• 37:54
  Speaker 17: I think it's both parties.
• 37:56
Speaker 3: I'm glad to hear you say that that it's both parties. Oh,
• 37:59
Speaker 3: it's a lot of people. People Greg won't say that.
• 38:01
Speaker 17: There's Look, here's the reality, right and this is this
• 38:06
Speaker 17: is what happens when you have a government that is
• 38:08
Speaker 17: this big and this powerful and has this much money
• 38:12
Speaker 17: and is this much involved in your daily life and
• 38:16
Speaker 17: gets this much involved in business operations and everything else.
• 38:21
Speaker 17: You know, it's one of those things right where it's like,
• 38:23
Speaker 17: you know, how much money would it take for you
• 38:27
Speaker 17: to be corrupt? We have that much money, right, like whatever,
• 38:31
Speaker 17: whatever your answer is, whatever you're it's like that old joke, right, like,
• 38:35
Speaker 17: you know, would you have sex with me for one
• 38:36
Speaker 17: thousand dollars or a million dollars? Well, you know, now
• 38:39
Speaker 17: we've established what you are now negotiating, negotiating the price.
• 38:43
Speaker 17: That's where we are with government corruption. We have a
• 38:47
Speaker 17: corrupt government. It's just they're negotiating the prices and and
• 38:52
Speaker 17: and there's no doubt about that. And it is both parties,
• 38:55
Speaker 17: and it's gotten very bad. And so you know, how
• 38:58
Speaker 17: much would it have to mean to you to not
• 39:01
Speaker 17: have a certain person be president? Are we not at
• 39:04
Speaker 17: that point where somebody would spend that amount of money
• 39:06
Speaker 17: or figure it out? I think we are at that point.
• 39:08
Speaker 17: Whether it happen or not, I don't know, and maybe
• 39:10
Speaker 17: we'll never know, but we're at the point where somebody's
• 39:14
Speaker 17: think someone's making that calculation.
• 39:17
Speaker 3: Well, we have both sides right now. And I've talked
• 39:20
Speaker 3: about this on the show. I did a little editorial
• 39:21
Speaker 3: around the fourth of July, and this we have both
• 39:23
Speaker 3: sides now, Greg saying that if this person and fill
• 39:26
Speaker 3: in name here is elected, it's the end of the
• 39:29
Speaker 3: democracy as we know it. The Republicans say if Biden first,
• 39:33
Speaker 3: now colder, if she is elected, we're done, just as
• 39:37
Speaker 3: many people on the other side say, if Trump gets
• 39:38
Speaker 3: another term, we're done. I want to think, maybe naively, Greg,
• 39:43
Speaker 3: that one person is not going to be responsible for
• 39:47
Speaker 3: the downfall of the society in America as we know it.
• 39:50
Speaker 3: Please tell me I'm wrong, Greg.
• 39:52
Speaker 17: No, one person won't be, but there will be one
• 39:54
Speaker 17: person in charge when it happens.
• 39:57
Speaker 3: Well, well, I mean, yeah, one person is, but I
• 39:59
Speaker 3: mean one person is not totally in charge. Oh yeah, no,
• 40:02
Speaker 3: although I think Trump would like that if he were,
• 40:04
  Speaker 3: Oh he.
• 40:05
Speaker 10: Would, he would say that he would like it. I mean,
• 40:07
Speaker 10: I don't, you know. He says a lot of stuff, speaking.
• 40:12
Speaker 3: Of which we'll get your thoughts on the Republican National
• 40:15
Speaker 3: Convention and the choice of JD. Vance is the vice president.
• 40:18
Speaker 17: Well, the convention, I guess the timeline of this, right,
• 40:22
Speaker 17: I mean the time right. I probably haven't been on
• 40:24
Speaker 17: here since before the debate, Like I said, I don't know,
• 40:28
Speaker 17: so like you know, but take let's go back to
• 40:31
Speaker 17: the debate. Right, So go back to the debate. And
• 40:33
Speaker 17: Biden was just unbelievably horrible, right, And Trump was actually
• 40:38
Speaker 17: very I mean, you know, Trump did what he needed
• 40:40
Speaker 17: to do. He was very he was significantly more disciplined
• 40:43
  Speaker 17: than what he.
• 40:43
Speaker 3: Basically Biden hang himself he did, and which is.
• 40:46
Speaker 17: Which is not something that would have happened four years
• 40:48
Speaker 17: or it's and so he he you know, he sort
• 40:53
Speaker 17: of let that happen.
• 40:54
  Speaker 3: Uh.
• 40:55
Speaker 17: I think that internally, I think the Democrats knew they
• 40:58
Speaker 17: wanted him gone. I think that was a up to
• 41:00
Speaker 17: push him out there. They knew he was going to
• 41:01
Speaker 17: do terrible he did, and they use that as the
• 41:05
Speaker 17: means to sort of push him out. So you had
• 41:07
Speaker 17: him being pushed out, and then you have the assassination attempt,
• 41:11
Speaker 17: and then you know Trump, who just you know with
• 41:14
Speaker 17: the fight fight fight and the photo, which is just
• 41:16
Speaker 17: I mean, he's just you know, a media savant to be.
• 41:20
Speaker 3: He's very well trained he for politics.
• 41:23
Speaker 17: Yeah, it was one of those I mean, that's just
• 41:25
Speaker 17: something that's just you have to be born with that
• 41:29
Speaker 17: to be able to know to do something like that,
• 41:31
Speaker 17: and he does and he did. Uh, And it's just
• 41:33
Speaker 17: unbelievable to be something that you know, our kids and
• 41:35
Speaker 17: grandkids will know about.
• 41:37
  Speaker 10: And it's it's just unbelievable.
• 41:38
Speaker 17: Right, So you have that then I thought you had
• 41:40
Speaker 17: a very very very good Republican convention, you know, to
• 41:44
Speaker 17: the point like that stuff was going so well that
• 41:47
Speaker 17: they did force Biden now, right, so they for you know,
• 41:49
Speaker 17: so we wanted him out, the sort of internal Democrat
• 41:53
Speaker 17: machine wanted him out. All you know, they got, they
• 41:56
Speaker 17: got the media, you know, their liberal media cohorts to
• 41:58
Speaker 17: kind of get locked up with them. They forced by
• 42:01
Speaker 17: now and now they've kind of got this fresh start,
• 42:04
Speaker 17: you know, but a fresh start with somebody that they
• 42:07
  Speaker 17: don't necessarily love either, let's be you know, they're they're
• 42:10
Speaker 17: they're acting like they are right now because it's you know,
• 42:13
Speaker 17: they had a sort of weekend at Bernie's candidate, and
• 42:15
Speaker 17: now all of a sudden they have a you know,
• 42:16
Speaker 17: a live person, not the best person they could put forward,
• 42:19
Speaker 17: but a live person, young energet you know, more energy, younger, younger,
• 42:25
Speaker 17: more energy, you know, female, you know. So so we'll
• 42:32
Speaker 17: I mean, they're in a significantly better position today than
• 42:36
Speaker 17: they were two weeks ago, I would agree, you know. Now,
• 42:40
Speaker 17: So what we're gonna have to endure is, uh, you know,
• 42:43
Speaker 17: several weeks of honey you know, media honeymoon in the
• 42:46
Speaker 17: in the Hollywood elites and all that stuff will gush over,
• 42:49
Speaker 17: they'll raise a ton of money.
• 42:50
Speaker 3: For it, and anything negative will be perceived as racist.
• 42:53
Speaker 17: Well, we're racist and sexist and all that, of course.
• 42:56
Speaker 17: And then uh so that'll that that will holminade into
• 43:01
Speaker 17: a DNC convention that they're gonna have to work hard on.
• 43:05
Speaker 17: I mean, the Republicans did a very very good job
• 43:07
Speaker 17: with that. The Democrats will have to work hard because
• 43:10
Speaker 17: you know, you've got the you know, the whole uh
• 43:14
Speaker 17: you know, Middle East kind of conflict that spills over
• 43:16
Speaker 17: into their primary with the you know, just rampant anti
• 43:20
Speaker 17: Semitism within the Democratic Party that they'll have to deal with.
• 43:23
Speaker 17: And so let's you know, I think all eyes will
• 43:25
Speaker 17: be on that. And then after that, I think is
• 43:28
Speaker 17: when you really get to Okay, now it's Trump versus her,
• 43:33
  Speaker 17: right versus Kamala.
• 43:34
Speaker 3: And so how is the race different in your opinion?
• 43:38
Speaker 17: Oh, it's totally different, right, I mean, it's it's you know,
• 43:41
Speaker 17: she's going to essentially try to distance herself from two things.
• 43:46
Speaker 17: She has to distance herself from from from Biden, and
• 43:51
Speaker 17: then she has to distance herself from everything she stood
• 43:54
Speaker 17: for leading into being vice president, right, because she was
• 43:57
Speaker 17: the most liberal US senator. She was a very liberal,
• 44:01
Speaker 17: you know, California progressive, and so she's got to move a.
• 44:07
Speaker 3: Lot more liberal than Biden was far more liberal.
• 44:09
Speaker 17: Far more liberal, and so she's got to distance herself
• 44:12
Speaker 17: from that. I saw, I was saw a thing last
• 44:15
Speaker 17: night where there was some staffer had said that she
• 44:18
Speaker 17: had internally changed her position on fracking already, you know
• 44:21
Speaker 17: what I mean, Like, you're gonna see stuff like that
• 44:25
Speaker 17: and so and so we'll just see how she, you know,
• 44:27
Speaker 17: how how they manage that, and we'll see how Trump.
• 44:30
Speaker 17: You know, does he stay disciplined because he's been disciplined.
• 44:32
Speaker 17: He was disciplined in that debate, he was disciplined after
• 44:35
Speaker 17: the after the thing, some of his statements on some
• 44:39
Speaker 17: of the rallies since then, you can tell he's getting
• 44:41
Speaker 17: a little loosey goosey again.
• 44:42
  Speaker 10: You know.
• 44:43
Speaker 17: Can they keep him, Can they keep him disciplined? Can
• 44:46
Speaker 17: they keep him on message? Can they keep him talking
• 44:48
Speaker 17: about inflation and immigration and and the things that are
• 44:52
Speaker 17: actually going to move votes? Or is he gonna go
• 44:55
Speaker 17: down rabbit holes again, which he's.
• 44:57
  Speaker 10: Prone to do.
• 44:58
Speaker 17: Yes, and so I I really think this is going
• 45:01
Speaker 17: to come down to two things. You know, how well
• 45:03
Speaker 17: the two different camp the two challenges of these campaigns.
• 45:06
Speaker 17: The Trump campaign challenges can you keep him discipline on message?
• 45:11
Speaker 17: And in the Harris campaign is going to be how
• 45:14
Speaker 17: well can we actually change who she is from a
• 45:18
  Speaker 17: policy standpoint?

Speaker 3: that this administry is the worst? And why don't you

Speaker 3: call the police? Well, if it's corrupt, I don't think

Speaker 3: call them the police would be the right thing to do.
• 48:07
Speaker 17: But the reason that I don't, the reason that I
• 48:10
Speaker 17: don't call the government to tell them that they're corrupt,
• 48:12
Speaker 17: is because they're the ones that are corrupt. I don't

• 48:59
Speaker 17: whole Uh, you know, I do think this is the
• 49:02
Speaker 17: worst administration ever. I do think that they've caused inflation.
• 49:05
Speaker 10: I do think that.
• 49:06
Speaker 17: I mean, the way they handled the border, the way
• 49:09
Speaker 17: that we've just given all this money, and you know,
• 49:12
Speaker 17: our foreign policy positions are literally the exact opposite of
• 49:16
Speaker 17: they should what they should be at almost every turn.
• 49:19
Speaker 17: This has been an absolutely horrific administration for working families
• 49:24
Speaker 17: in this country. And I think that is why Trump
• 49:28
Speaker 17: is going to be re elected.
• 49:32
Speaker 10: Is because of that. I mean, I think that's what
• 49:34
Speaker 10: it's going to come down.
• 49:34
Speaker 3: To, Greg, Greg, corruptions. Let me try that again, Greg.
• 49:38
Speaker 3: Corruption has been happening since seventeen seventy six. I think
• 49:41
Speaker 3: the veil has been lifted and everyone's seen it.
• 49:43
Speaker 17: Look, I agree, I agree. I just think it is significantly.
• 49:46
Speaker 17: It's just that the stakes are so high now, right,
• 49:49
Speaker 17: I mean, and not just high, but it's the money, man.
• 49:51
Speaker 17: I mean, the government is so big, and the budget
• 49:53
Speaker 17: is so big, and they borrow so much money, and
• 49:55
Speaker 17: they spend so much money, and they hand out so
• 49:57
Speaker 17: much money. How could it not be you know, it's
• 49:59
Speaker 17: always then somewhat corrupt. I mean, nothing's incorruptible, but like
• 50:03
Speaker 17: it's it's worse than it's ever has been.
