- 0:41Speaker 1: and the crew. They are back in Sherman Oaks. We
- 0:46Speaker 1: have a song by Taylor as well, What What.
- 0:51Speaker 3: We Do?
- 0:52Speaker 1: Eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox. Why are you
- 0:55Speaker 1: so surprised by that?
- 0:56Speaker 4: I mean, wow, I didn't know tailor man.
- 0:59Speaker 5: I didn't know Taylor like really wanted to continue his musical,
- 1:03Speaker 5: you know, career because on the previous show it was
- 1:06Speaker 5: funny because let's just say it didn't sound the greatest.
- 1:10Speaker 6: Is he like a great artist? I go through lulls
- 1:13Speaker 6: at times, but if something really inspires me? Yep, then
- 1:17Speaker 6: I get to writing.
- 1:18Speaker 5: Yes, can I ask for the source of inspiration the Mets?
- 1:22Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 1:24Speaker 1: Okay, is that ready whenever I'm ready to go to it?
- 1:28Speaker 3: Is that song ready for us to play?
- 1:30Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 1:30Speaker 3: Okay, we will get to it in just a second.
- 1:32Speaker 3: Is he I peaked his career?
- 1:35Speaker 7: Yeah?
- 1:36Speaker 5: Like it's only been one game so far, and I'm like,
- 1:38Speaker 5: what is this song all about?
- 1:40Speaker 3: Yes? What did you want to do here with Iowa? Sam?
- 1:43Speaker 3: Who was back in Sherman Oaks? Who is he is
- 1:45Speaker 3: just having a moment right now? Well he is, that's
- 1:48Speaker 3: actually Sam. How are you today? Oh? Doing great?
- 1:50Speaker 8: It's nothing like a punching your ticket to the Elite
- 1:52Speaker 8: eight and then watching all the other basketball play out.
- 1:55Speaker 8: So I'm just, yeah, walking on sunshine over here.
- 1:58Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? Okay, because can do it
- 2:00Speaker 3: so often? Yes, go ahead.
- 2:01Speaker 5: I know because I text you last night, Sa, I'm
- 2:04Speaker 5: after Iowa one And what did I say?
- 2:07Speaker 4: I think I wrote survive in advance.
- 2:09Speaker 5: And I put the like salute emoji emoji and your
- 2:13Speaker 5: response was what my responder?
- 2:15Speaker 8: It was like an emoji of like the who exhaling?
- 2:19Speaker 8: But I did it with the gentle effects, So it
- 2:20Speaker 8: was to get smaller and bigger. So it's like my
- 2:23Speaker 8: face is going hoo and because I mean, listen, it
- 2:26Speaker 8: was thirty eight minutes that Nebraska led that game, and
- 2:30Speaker 8: Iowa finally took the lead, finally took the lead. It
- 2:32Speaker 8: tied a bunch of times, finally took the lead with
- 2:33Speaker 8: about two ten to go. So I mean, listen, march
- 2:36Speaker 8: is stressful. It's a plum. I haven't tasted. On the
- 2:39Speaker 8: men's side. I'm wearing my women's final for shirt right now,
- 2:41Speaker 8: but on the men's side, have not gotten that far
- 2:43Speaker 8: in a long time.
- 2:44Speaker 3: The f and Fred Hoiberg stands for four players on
- 2:46Speaker 3: the court. How lout that I'm.
- 2:49Speaker 5: Still getting over the plum I haven't tasted phrase, which
- 2:52Speaker 5: I believe must be an Iowa special because I've never
- 2:54Speaker 5: heard it before.
- 2:55Speaker 1: The agent Hoiberg, Hey lay out The agent Hoiberg stands
- 2:59Speaker 1: for how the hell did that happen?
- 3:01Speaker 3: I mean, so, Sam, I want you to explain.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Actually, because I was thinking about this, I was like,
- 3:08Speaker 5: I could explain what happened, but I wasn't actually watching live.
- 3:11Speaker 5: I had to rewind it because I had gotten up
- 3:13Speaker 5: and didn't realize what happened. Tell me what happened when
- 3:17Speaker 5: Iowa had a five on four advantage there against Nebraska.
- 3:20Speaker 8: Well, they were about to inbound it and then rink
- 3:22Speaker 8: Mast wasn't on the court, and Fred Hoiberg said, that
- 3:26Speaker 8: was my fault. But there were four guys on the court,
- 3:28Speaker 8: and I think it was maybe cale Comb's inbounding and
- 3:30Speaker 8: he just hugs it. So one of the IRA players
- 3:32Speaker 8: just hugs it down the court and just gets goes
- 3:35Speaker 8: up by five or six again with under a minute
- 3:37Speaker 8: to go, and just gives them an extra little bit
- 3:39Speaker 8: of breathing room. But that was just catching Nebraska flat footed.
- 3:43Speaker 8: And you know, like Fred, we have a bit of
- 3:45Speaker 8: sound to play. Fred Hoiberg is like, well, they check
- 3:47Speaker 8: it for six sometimes as never four on the court.
- 3:50Speaker 8: So it was a blunder yep, the.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Rare college basketball power play. I mean exactly, it's unbelievable.
- 4:00Speaker 4: So that basically kind of sealed the game.
- 4:04Speaker 8: I would say, right, yeah, yeah, because I was up
- 4:06Speaker 8: I think six or eight and then they got to five.
- 4:09Speaker 3: It just gave him more breathing room.
- 4:10Speaker 8: And it was two possessions at point, so it just
- 4:13Speaker 8: gave Iowa a little bit of an upper leg or
- 4:15Speaker 8: with you know, only about a minute to go.
- 4:17Speaker 5: Yeah, and so after the game, Fred Hoiberg was asked
- 4:20Speaker 5: about it, or actually one of his players was asked
- 4:23Speaker 5: about it, and he took over to take the blame.
- 4:24Speaker 5: And then there was a follow up question which was
- 4:26Speaker 5: pretty important to play those for me, Please for rink.
- 4:29Speaker 9: About fifty eight seconds left, they had that deep ball
- 4:31Speaker 9: to Alvarro for the bucket. I think there were four
- 4:34Speaker 9: players on the court, Like you say, what happened that one?
- 4:38Speaker 10: Myronette, you know, put that one on me. It was
- 4:40Speaker 10: a miscommunication and you know, I'm the head coach put
- 4:42Speaker 10: that one on me.
- 4:44Speaker 11: The four men on the on the court on that
- 4:45Speaker 11: final inbound. There's some confusion online about if that's the rules,
- 4:50Speaker 11: you're supposed to have five guys on the court where
- 4:52Speaker 11: deep where the officials supposed to hold the ball before
- 4:54Speaker 11: the ball was piling.
- 4:55Speaker 10: Good question, Rob, And I've never been in a situation
- 4:57Speaker 10: like that. I know they always count to make sure
- 4:59Speaker 10: there's not six. I don't know the rule on that
- 5:02Speaker 10: with with four, but yeah, I mean again, it was
- 5:05Speaker 10: some miscommunication and you know, unfortunately it happened. But that
- 5:10Speaker 10: you know, as far as the rule I've never been
- 5:11Speaker 10: a part of anything like that.
- 5:13Speaker 5: So, now, before we get to the blame game, as
- 5:16Speaker 5: who's to blame, Taylor has a question for Sam?
- 5:18Speaker 6: Yes, io was Sam everybody's coming out today praising McCullum,
- 5:23Speaker 6: calling him the Kirk Signetti of college basketball.
- 5:27Speaker 3: Wow.
- 5:29Speaker 6: What I don't understand is how this Iowa team went
- 5:31Speaker 6: five hundred in the Big Ten.
- 5:34Speaker 8: Well, I mean I think it. Let's look look look
- 5:37Speaker 8: at the half of the Elite eight. Three of the
- 5:38Speaker 8: four teams are Big ten teams. You look at the
- 5:40Speaker 8: depth of the Big Ten. It's really on display right now.
- 5:43Speaker 8: Iowa at one point was eight and four in the
- 5:45Speaker 8: Big Ten, and then they kind of they hit a
- 5:46Speaker 8: little bit of a plateau, finished ten to ten. But
- 5:49Speaker 8: they had they had leads against Iowa State in non
- 5:52Speaker 8: conference on the road, they had leads. You know, they
- 5:55Speaker 8: were competitive with Purdue and Illinois. They were right there
- 5:58Speaker 8: in a bunch of games and would have made them
- 6:00Speaker 8: a higher seed if they had won those games, would
- 6:02Speaker 8: have you know, improved their their resume overall. But they
- 6:05Speaker 8: finished ten to ten, but clearly showing that they deserve
- 6:09Speaker 8: to be in the tournament. And they're the lowest nine seed.
- 6:11Speaker 8: To ever get to an Elite eight from the Big ten.
- 6:13Speaker 8: We are peppering Iowa su.
- 6:16Speaker 5: No, No, the lowest nine seed, the lowest do they
- 6:20Speaker 5: rank the nine seeds?
- 6:21Speaker 8: I'm sorry, the lowest seed to make the Elite eight
- 6:24Speaker 8: coming in a nine seed?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 6:25Speaker 1: From the now, I was Sam. If they played the
- 6:27Speaker 1: entire season five on four, do you think they would
- 6:30Speaker 1: have been the overall one seed headed into the tournament?
- 6:33Speaker 3: Sure? Absolutely?
- 6:35Speaker 8: I mean five on four as a whole. It's like,
- 6:37Speaker 8: you know, you're playing chess and everyone's playing checkers.
- 6:40Speaker 3: That's right.
- 6:40Speaker 5: I want everybody to chime in on this because I'm
- 6:42Speaker 5: trying to figure out who is most to blame here,
- 6:45Speaker 5: because there's so many levels to how different people could
- 6:51Speaker 5: have given Fred Hoiberg the heads up. Like you mentioned
- 6:54Speaker 5: in the in the in the question by that reporter,
- 6:56Speaker 5: does the official normally check if you have for or more?
- 7:00Speaker 5: And in most cases during a game, when it's live action,
- 7:04Speaker 5: you'll have referees kind of doing favors for teams by
- 7:07Speaker 5: maybe like if somebody slipped or something, they'll hold on
- 7:10Speaker 5: to the ball a little longer before the inbound just
- 7:13Speaker 5: to make things even right. They absolutely if because it's
- 7:17Speaker 5: not like you get penalized for it, right, So they
- 7:19Speaker 5: absolutely if you see only four out there, well before
- 7:23Speaker 5: the inbound might say, hey, coach, you only got four
- 7:25Speaker 5: out there, or you're missing one somebody, or somebody off
- 7:28Speaker 5: the floor or something like that.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Well, Hoiberg said the mayor, and he took accountability because
- 7:31Speaker 1: that's what the mayor does. He says, normally, they count
- 7:34Speaker 1: and if it's six, they'll tell me and they'll get
- 7:36Speaker 1: one guy off the court. Is there a chance when
- 7:38Speaker 1: there's four the referee is just laughing at the coach
- 7:41Speaker 1: and saying, nah, well, no, I'm not going to tell them.
- 7:43Speaker 3: It's not my job.
- 7:43Speaker 4: So you could argue it's either way because if it's six,
- 7:45Speaker 4: you get a technical foul.
- 7:46Speaker 5: So you're still affecting the game by telling the coach, hey,
- 7:49Speaker 5: get them off the floor.
- 7:50Speaker 3: You've got six out there.
- 7:51Speaker 5: So really, if they're objective referees, probably not supposed to
- 7:54Speaker 5: say anything, but a lot of times in the sport,
- 7:56Speaker 5: I don't know, maybe they just sometimes do.
- 7:58Speaker 3: It just seems to be the way.
- 7:59Speaker 1: But there were a million people on these college basketball benches, okay,
- 8:04Speaker 1: including the players.
- 8:05Speaker 3: How about account coach.
- 8:07Speaker 1: How about a coach whose responsibility it is to just
- 8:10Speaker 1: make sure they have five players on the court at
- 8:12Speaker 1: all times.
- 8:13Speaker 3: We have them in lacrosse. I'm certain we have them
- 8:15Speaker 3: in football.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Just somebody, anybody on that coaching staff who is sitting
- 8:19Speaker 1: around doing nothing, make sure you count one, two, three, four.
- 8:23Speaker 5: Five, not the amount of people not full, the amount
- 8:27Speaker 5: of people you're gonna have lining up to apply for
- 8:30Speaker 5: the job.
- 8:30Speaker 3: That all I gotta do is count e. It's gonna
- 8:34Speaker 3: be a little count, coach, I mean, that's all.
- 8:37Speaker 4: But you're right, you know, because they have assistant coaches there.
- 8:40Speaker 5: An assistant coach can maybe take a little pressure off
- 8:42Speaker 5: the head coach and give it a quick count.
- 8:44Speaker 3: Right, Yes, you've got all these dudes, these.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Walk ons who have nothing to do with anything other
- 8:52Speaker 5: their main job is to celebrate. Bro, do a quick count.
- 8:56Speaker 5: Tell your coach, hey, we only got four out there.
- 8:59Speaker 5: You have the son of the head coach in uniforms
- 9:03Speaker 5: to an extension of the coach on the floor, almost literally.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Yes, a coach's son.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Yes, that man needs to be able to say, hey, dad,
- 9:13Speaker 5: we only have four out here. The opposition, like I was,
- 9:19Speaker 5: they did such a great job looking around and recognizing, hey,
- 9:23Speaker 5: don't make any sudden movements.
- 9:24Speaker 3: They only have four people out there.
- 9:27Speaker 5: If we look too excited, they might get the fifth
- 9:30Speaker 5: one out here. Like, there's so many different ways somebody
- 9:33Speaker 5: could have figured out there's only four people out there,
- 9:35Speaker 5: and instead none of those things happened, and fred Fred
- 9:38Speaker 5: Hoiberg has to take the giant Lnskers.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I'm sorry the conversation. I gotta be in on this.
- 9:48Speaker 3: Come on, say it again, Taylor.
- 9:49Speaker 6: What was that the Nebraska foreign Huskers?
- 9:52Speaker 10: There?
- 9:52Speaker 3: You go, very good. I'm I have it. Stop if
- 9:56Speaker 3: I have got your word limit for the segment, Sam,
- 9:59Speaker 3: come on now, let me just can I just offer
- 10:02Speaker 3: one more thing? Four more? Yeah? Please? Okay.
- 10:04Speaker 8: Well, so I think that at the end of the game,
- 10:06Speaker 8: when Nebraska had the lead for thirty eight minutes and
- 10:09Speaker 8: they were their heads were spinning at that point, and
- 10:11Speaker 8: they were just like they didn't know what was going on.
- 10:13Speaker 8: They were losing the lead, they were losing the game.
- 10:15Speaker 8: And I think that explains why the disarray, the lack
- 10:18Speaker 8: of organization. They had four guys on the court.
- 10:21Speaker 5: Yeah, that doesn't explain why those walk ons couldn't I
- 10:24Speaker 5: said something.
- 10:25Speaker 3: I think everybody is just trying to fit like it
- 10:27Speaker 3: was like they were.
- 10:28Speaker 8: You know, that's when you have a big a mental
- 10:30Speaker 8: gaff like that happened, is when you're just like in
- 10:32Speaker 8: a disarray.
- 10:33Speaker 1: Yes, let me ask you this is he if Tennessee
- 10:37Speaker 1: decided to just play with four players, but you had
- 10:40Speaker 1: to spot them thirty points against Tennessee tonight, who would
- 10:44Speaker 1: you take in that game? So what I'm telling you is, oh,
- 10:47Speaker 1: against Iowa State. Yeah, Iowa it gets to run out
- 10:49Speaker 1: their normal five. Tennessee plays with four, but the game
- 10:51Speaker 1: starts thirty to nothing. Tennessee. Man, it's a tough one,
- 10:57Speaker 1: right it is.
- 10:58Speaker 5: It is right up there with the Usain both Joey
- 11:00Speaker 5: chests that question right.
- 11:02Speaker 6: Makes you think we should have used it for think
- 11:03Speaker 6: about it thirday.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Should Yeah, he still has he has no answer.
- 11:09Speaker 3: He doesn't know who to take.
- 11:10Speaker 5: I don't and you know who's dying to answer, Iowa Sam.
- 11:13Speaker 5: But his word limit has been reached and he cannot
- 11:15Speaker 5: discuss Iowa State.
- 11:16Speaker 1: Too well, since we're discussing Iowa state within the state
- 11:19Speaker 1: that Iowa Sam is from.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Iowa Sam.
- 11:23Speaker 1: If I present that to you, Tennessee, We're gonna play
- 11:25Speaker 1: with four players, but the game starts thirty to nothing
- 11:29Speaker 1: Tennessee and they're taking on Iowa State.
- 11:31Speaker 3: Who are you taking that?
- 11:32Speaker 12: Is?
- 11:33Speaker 8: That is really that's a mind bender right there. I
- 11:36Speaker 8: think I'm going to man, I think I think I'm
- 11:41Speaker 8: still going to take Tennessee.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I don't I don't know.
- 11:46Speaker 1: I don't know, Dan I take Iowa State. I would
- 11:50Speaker 1: the Cyclones.
- 11:50Speaker 3: I would go ahead, Taylor.
- 11:51Speaker 6: These two teams are too evenly matched. Like I think
- 11:55Speaker 6: Tennessee would want to just play the game straight up.
- 11:57Speaker 6: I think Iowa State would want to play the game
- 11:58Speaker 6: straight up. But you're looking at some of the spreads.
- 12:01Speaker 6: Alabama is a nine and a half point underdog, so
- 12:04Speaker 6: maybe they play with four, but they're spott at thirty
- 12:07Speaker 6: points against Michigan. Maybe I think that's how a team
- 12:11Speaker 6: would have to accept that.
- 12:12Speaker 5: I think what happens is the Alabama suspended player spikes
- 12:15Speaker 5: all the Michigan players with THCHC in their drinks because
- 12:18Speaker 5: they have it liquid four now right before the game,
- 12:21Speaker 5: and the Michigan just players look lost the entire game.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Is he I gotta be honest with you and listen,
- 12:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna be honest with the audience. Last night was
- 12:30Speaker 1: the first time I watched Arizona play basketball the entire season.
- 12:34Speaker 1: I feel like every other team is playing for second overwhelming.
- 12:37Speaker 6: They are overwhelming.
- 12:41Speaker 1: At Taylor wants them to lose desperately because he wants
- 12:45Speaker 1: their coach to be the next coach at the University
- 12:47Speaker 1: of North Carolina.
- 12:49Speaker 13: Is he?
- 12:49Speaker 6: So this is the conundrum that I'm running into right
- 12:51Speaker 6: now as a Carolina guy. I need Arizona out of
- 12:56Speaker 6: this tournament fast because I need the Carolina administration and
- 13:03Speaker 6: Tommy Lloyd to try to work out a contract for
- 13:05Speaker 6: him to become the next head coach. You would think
- 13:07Speaker 6: the further Arizona goes, the less likely he would want
- 13:11Speaker 6: to leave Arizona. Like if Arizona makes it to the
- 13:13Speaker 6: final four, if Arizona wins the national championship, that's gonna
- 13:16Speaker 6: be a tough situation for him to leave, no matter
- 13:18Speaker 6: how good people think the Carolina job is. This is
- 13:21Speaker 6: where the conundrum comes in. Though Arizona is so good
- 13:25Speaker 6: that as long as Duke is in the tournament I
- 13:28Speaker 6: cannot have Duke win the national time. So I need
- 13:32Speaker 6: as much insurance as possible. I need Arizona in the tournament.
- 13:37Speaker 6: I need Michigan in the tournament. I need Illinois in
- 13:40Speaker 6: the tournament. I cannot afford the chance.
- 13:43Speaker 5: So you need Duke to lose, But it would be
- 13:45Speaker 5: great if it was not Arizona who beat them, because
- 13:47Speaker 5: you need Arizona's head coach to move on to North Carolina.
- 13:50Speaker 6: Yeah, so Arizona would have to play Duke in the
- 13:53Speaker 6: championship and that's like the last layer before all hell
- 13:57Speaker 6: breaks loose.
- 13:58Speaker 1: So you want Duke to lose tonight to say, John's right,
- 14:00Speaker 1: that would be ideal for you, and then Arizona to
- 14:02Speaker 1: lose their next game.
- 14:03Speaker 3: Correct.
- 14:04Speaker 6: Correct? So I pose this question to my Carolina group
- 14:07Speaker 6: chats you and C gets Billy Donovan, but Duke doesn't
- 14:12Speaker 6: win the title or UNC gets Tommy Lloyd. Duke wins
- 14:16Speaker 6: the title, and everybody was like, give us Billy Donovan.
- 14:20Speaker 6: He'll coach for ten years and then we'll figure out
- 14:22Speaker 6: who the next coach is after that.
- 14:23Speaker 3: I agree with them.
- 14:24Speaker 4: Yeah, you'll be in the play in pretend to your computer,
- 14:26Speaker 4: it's not mine.
- 14:27Speaker 3: What of hours? My computer has never made that noise, And.
- 14:29Speaker 1: There are seventeen computers on in this studio. It could
- 14:32Speaker 1: be any one of them.
- 14:33Speaker 5: I mean, but Taylor, let me just announce to you
- 14:35Speaker 5: right now, just so you can like, don't hold your
- 14:37Speaker 5: breath on this.
- 14:39Speaker 3: You're screwed man.
- 14:40Speaker 5: That Arizona team, my god, dude, Yes, I was at
- 14:43Speaker 5: home wondering if I should admit this, okay, and then you.
- 14:47Speaker 4: Did it for me first.
- 14:49Speaker 5: That is the first time I've seen Arizona play basketball
- 14:52Speaker 5: this year.
- 14:52Speaker 6: Holy.
- 14:53Speaker 5: They are good, dude, Taylor. They're so good they don't
- 14:57Speaker 5: even have to shoot threes. They I only shot eight
- 15:01Speaker 5: of them last night, made five and.
- 15:03Speaker 4: Shot sixty four from overall.
- 15:07Speaker 6: So part of that, I think is because Arkansas is
- 15:10Speaker 6: a very bad defensive team. Like when Arkansas is playing defense,
- 15:15Speaker 6: they almost just olayed to the basket because a cuff
- 15:17Speaker 6: is like, just give me the ball. I'm gonna go
- 15:19Speaker 6: back at them. The other part of that is he
- 15:22Speaker 6: is everybody in this NCAA tournament is like it's tough
- 15:25Speaker 6: to pick Arizona because they don't shoot a lot of threes.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Then you're watching them like they don't really have to
- 15:30Speaker 6: shoot too manything.
- 15:31Speaker 5: They don't have to settle, just take it to the
- 15:33Speaker 5: rim like a bully every time.
- 15:35Speaker 1: They're doing just fine. They had six guys and double
- 15:37Speaker 1: figures last night.
- 15:38Speaker 5: I was it's that kind of admission that makes me
- 15:42Speaker 5: like I don't feel like I'm worthy of talking to
- 15:44Speaker 5: J Billis like we did. Yes, I was like, dude,
- 15:46Speaker 5: if he only knew I haven't even seen Arizona play
- 15:49Speaker 5: yet this year. And then I watched him last night,
- 15:51Speaker 5: and I'm like, man, I am on this bandwagon.
- 15:53Speaker 3: Trust me. He knows y J Bills.
- 15:56Speaker 6: Knows You're not fooling Jay Billis.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Well, I didn't try to fool him. I didn't even
- 16:03Speaker 5: touch the subject of Arizona.
- 16:04Speaker 3: But I would have.
- 16:05Speaker 1: By the way, just going back to Iowa for a second,
- 16:07Speaker 1: when we asked Jay Billis if he'd be surprised if
- 16:09Speaker 1: any of these teams won an NCAA championship this year,
- 16:13Speaker 1: he said, Iowa is.
- 16:14Speaker 3: The team that would shock.
- 16:16Speaker 1: And here they are three games away from winning a
- 16:19Speaker 1: national championship.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's crazy.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox eight seven seven ninety.
- 16:25Speaker 3: Nine on Fox.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Sam has one more comment. I think as we are quick.
- 16:28Speaker 8: To break quick thing, guys, why do I get this feeling?
- 16:31Speaker 8: I mean, so Michigan State tom is a year two thousand,
- 16:34Speaker 8: last time Big Ten won a national championship in men's
- 16:36Speaker 8: college basketball? Why do I get this feeling that there
- 16:38Speaker 8: could be as many as five Big ten teams in
- 16:40Speaker 8: the Elite eight and Arizona goes on to win the
- 16:43Speaker 8: national championship.
- 16:44Speaker 3: I just get that feeling like.
- 16:45Speaker 8: It's just even if it's overwhelmingly Big ten, I don't
- 16:48Speaker 8: know if Big ten's actually gonna get it done.
- 16:50Speaker 3: It's a good feeling.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Arizona's winning it all. I've declared them in my brack.
- 16:57Speaker 3: Yeah, me too. So so far.
- 16:59Speaker 5: They've played arguably the most impressive game of college basketball
- 17:02Speaker 5: I've ever seen played.
- 17:03Speaker 6: Now off Iowa Sam's point, Imagine how I feel needing
- 17:07Speaker 6: Arizona to lose in the next round.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Terrible?
- 17:09Speaker 6: And then who are my hopes hinging on?
- 17:12Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:12Speaker 6: Perdue and Matt Painter.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I got news for you, Bud, Arizona not losing
- 17:17Speaker 1: until early April.
- 17:18Speaker 5: You're playing a team made up of Wilt Chamberlain, Dwight Howard,
- 17:22Speaker 5: who else? Shaquille O'Neill is all banging in the paint
- 17:25Speaker 5: and occasionally taking it three just for fun.
- 17:26Speaker 3: It's the greatest college basketball team I've ever seen.
- 17:30Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu gottson Company

- 18:00Speaker 1: that sound from Christopher mad Dog Were you so four?
- 18:02Speaker 1: Ad nam in in just a second?
- 18:05Speaker 3: A dam? What's going on? Man? Great to see us?
- 18:07Speaker 3: Always do?
- 18:08Speaker 13: Is he a pleasure tailor? So I'm at the garden
- 18:10Speaker 13: on Monday, and there's only one garden for all the
- 18:12Speaker 13: Boston fans. Come on the Garden meets Madison Square Garden
- 18:15Speaker 13: Monday night for Amazon Prime.
- 18:17Speaker 3: The game available in Canada.
- 18:18Speaker 13: Ottawa Centator is taking on the New York Rangers only
- 18:20Speaker 13: hockey game on the docket. And as we're waiting to
- 18:22Speaker 13: talk to the head coach, Mike Selvi, and I see
- 18:24Speaker 13: Kenny Albert and I met Kenny once briefly before, but
- 18:27Speaker 13: I make a be like, oh Kenny, good to see it.
- 18:29Speaker 13: Pretty sure doesn't know who I am? And this is
- 18:30Speaker 13: I'm the only person who's ever said this to him
- 18:32Speaker 13: loved you Hunt stew Gotts's podcast. He said, oh, thanks
- 18:35Speaker 13: so much, and he goes, did you hear the short
- 18:37Speaker 13: one of the long one? And I wasn't sure. Sliceaid
- 18:39Speaker 13: the short one he said, yeah, after the Olympics was
- 18:41Speaker 13: so great. No, no, I heard you in the long one, the
- 18:43Speaker 13: one where you talked about Stu's.
- 18:45Speaker 3: Brothers, bar Mitzvah. He said, yeah, yeah, that was the
- 18:48Speaker 3: long one.
- 18:48Speaker 13: He goes, because, yeah, I knew Eric when he was
- 18:53Speaker 13: like five, Like, oh, I know, I listened to the
- 18:54Speaker 13: podcast is incredible.
- 18:55Speaker 3: The fact that you were able to connect, And he's like, yeah,
- 18:57Speaker 3: I was.
- 18:58Speaker 13: I was good friends with Eric. I go Kenny when
- 19:00Speaker 13: I was most impressed by the podcast, and he kind.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Of leans in a little bit.
- 19:04Speaker 13: He thinks, I'm going to say, you know, just the
- 19:05Speaker 13: quality of your voice the story time. I go, Kenny,
- 19:07Speaker 13: the way you kept pipping your book was incredible. Question, well,
- 19:13Speaker 13: as I put my books, do as I put my
- 19:14Speaker 13: book A phenomenal job. So good to see, Kenny. Albert
- 19:17Speaker 13: shout out to your brother Steve Gott.
- 19:20Speaker 1: He wrote that book two years before he came on
- 19:22Speaker 1: the air with us, and it's unbelievable.
- 19:25Speaker 13: Like I'm about the point now. I wrote Centophile last August,
- 19:28Speaker 13: and if someone says to me, how's your book? I
- 19:29Speaker 13: go enough like it was it was months ago last
- 19:32Speaker 13: Yes you can go buy, please support Centofile go on.
- 19:34Speaker 13: It was of course I need the money, I need
- 19:36Speaker 13: the book sold. But after six months too, it's pretty
- 19:38Speaker 13: much it right at what point you were dub with
- 19:40Speaker 13: your home book after two weeks once you got the advance,
- 19:43Speaker 13: book's been published, Stansick, It's been fun. Good luck to you.
- 19:46Speaker 13: Two years later, Kitty Howard still hypen up that book.
- 19:49Speaker 3: I love it. Once I got the advance, I was like, standing,
- 19:52Speaker 3: you write the book.
- 19:55Speaker 13: You know you know me better than I know me. NodD.
- 20:00Speaker 1: We're gonna play some sound here from Christopher mad Dog
- 20:03Speaker 1: Russo and get your reaction to it that Taylor has
- 20:06Speaker 1: a game for us, fair or foul, you know, just
- 20:09Speaker 1: thoughts from opening day, and so let's play this sound first,
- 20:12Speaker 1: Christopher mad Dog Russo talking about giant fans and getting
- 20:16Speaker 1: upset with them, and that don't.
- 20:18Speaker 14: Be stuck with the canoes out there with these balls
- 20:21Speaker 14: with home runs. That is so over played. It's been
- 20:24Speaker 14: going on for twenty five years. I think everybody who
- 20:27Speaker 14: even loves the Giants has had enough of it. Guys
- 20:29Speaker 14: downcing around in canoes think it's a big idea to
- 20:32Speaker 14: catch some fly ball or to be the first to
- 20:34Speaker 14: grab a ball that got wet over the right field
- 20:37Speaker 14: fence and over the fan base in the McCovey cove.
- 20:41Speaker 14: Who cares? How about the Giants win some ball games first?
- 20:45Speaker 14: Who the hell cares them? So that is so played
- 20:47Speaker 14: out it's like seeing Times Square every year. Who cares
- 20:50Speaker 14: about that?
- 20:50Speaker 3: Too?
- 20:51Speaker 15: Oh?
- 20:51Speaker 14: I want to waste of time. They do this stupid
- 20:53Speaker 14: canoe stuff. That's Portly Giants and Portland Netflix. They think
- 20:56Speaker 14: the world cares about a bunch of dopes dressed up
- 20:59Speaker 14: as whatever getting a ball out in right field, telling
- 21:03Speaker 14: us they have big giant fans. Well, have to to
- 21:05Speaker 14: be a big Giant fan. When you're sitting in right
- 21:07Speaker 14: field and the can you're not watching a ball game
- 21:09Speaker 14: on opening day for crying out.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Loud, Maybe cant of Ford tickets? How could they win
- 21:16Speaker 3: any games? It was the first game.
- 21:19Speaker 13: I always love Mad Dog's passion, but I couldn't disagree more.
- 21:22Speaker 13: I'm like, you have to show the people the Canoes.
- 21:24Speaker 13: That's what makes it so unique. Nobody is a diehard
- 21:27Speaker 13: like him who loves the San Francisco Giants like no other.
- 21:30Speaker 13: It's his favorite professional sports team, so of course he
- 21:32Speaker 13: gets sick of it when you see it over and over.
- 21:34Speaker 13: But dude, there are people there who were not watching
- 21:37Speaker 13: baseball games. Listen, dare I say that was someone's first
- 21:40Speaker 13: baseball game ever?
- 21:40Speaker 3: On Netflix?
- 21:41Speaker 13: Somebody out there is the ferson is in a baseball game.
- 21:43Speaker 13: They thought it was fascinating, just as side is the
- 21:45Speaker 13: first time, Like, Wow, there's people in canoes looking to
- 21:47Speaker 13: catch a.
- 21:47Speaker 3: Whole run ball.
- 21:48Speaker 13: So is it annoying for the diehard?
- 21:50Speaker 3: Of course?
- 21:51Speaker 13: But you have to play the casuals as well. I
- 21:52Speaker 13: think he's off base.
- 21:53Speaker 3: On this one, but I like the passion. But you
- 21:55Speaker 3: agree about time square, right, I mean, that's ridiculous that
- 21:58Speaker 3: I'm on.
- 21:58Speaker 13: You know, I've lived in New Jersey now seven years
- 22:00Speaker 13: and it's from when you first moved. My wife had
- 22:02Speaker 13: said to me, Hey, at some point we should do
- 22:03Speaker 13: time scriating New Year's Eve, and I didn't want to
- 22:05Speaker 13: be impolite.
- 22:05Speaker 3: She's my wife.
- 22:06Speaker 13: I love her to death. I was kind of like,
- 22:07Speaker 13: not really sure about that, and graduate her time. Sure,
- 22:10Speaker 13: enthusiasm four has gone down. You know when people say
- 22:13Speaker 13: in life, you should do this blank once whatever, that
- 22:15Speaker 13: one thing. Maybe try a certain food, go to a
- 22:18Speaker 13: place that's the one I go. No, I see your
- 22:20Speaker 13: desire a little claustrophobic.
- 22:22Speaker 3: B gotta go to the.
- 22:23Speaker 13: Bathroom every hour, like Stu. You're lining up at like
- 22:26Speaker 13: three pm, nine hours for ten seconds of gratification. Nine
- 22:31Speaker 13: hours wait for ten seconds of gratification. I could think
- 22:33Speaker 13: of the things I could be.
- 22:34Speaker 3: Doing with one.
- 22:35Speaker 1: You have to wear a diaper to it. I mean,
- 22:36Speaker 1: it's unbelievable, you really do. It's on a weird bucket
- 22:40Speaker 1: list I have of things I never want to do.
- 22:43Speaker 13: I mean, and you know this is a long Island guy.
- 22:45Speaker 13: It's a dead giveaway. If someone says to you, I
- 22:47Speaker 13: love Times Square, clearly they're not from the Tri state area, right,
- 22:50Speaker 13: all the respects. They're from Oklahoma, They're from Arkansas. They're
- 22:53Speaker 13: from Los Angeles' summer, not New York, New Jersey, Connecticut.
- 22:56Speaker 13: Because those people have no time for Time Square. Get
- 22:58Speaker 13: me through and get me going.
- 22:59Speaker 3: We're association.
- 23:00Speaker 5: The one thing that you associate with Times Square, mine
- 23:04Speaker 5: is sad dudes in like Giant cartoon. Uh you know
- 23:09Speaker 5: costumes that it's just they have some most of the
- 23:12Speaker 5: time they have the hat off, head off and sad Almo,
- 23:15Speaker 5: sad Spider Man, all those guys.
- 23:16Speaker 3: That's immediately what I think of when I think of
- 23:18Speaker 3: Time Squid.
- 23:19Speaker 13: No doubt is he. And I was so dumb, you know.
- 23:21Speaker 13: Twenty ten we moved to Connecticut one of the first
- 23:23Speaker 13: times who went.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Kids were young. We were just so thrilled.
- 23:25Speaker 13: I'm like, god, Spider, I got's iron Man. I just
- 23:27Speaker 13: thought it'd take a picture. Move on, you take the
- 23:29Speaker 13: picture and that's like they put the handout. I'm like,
- 23:31Speaker 13: well me, like, no way, give us money for this,
- 23:33Speaker 13: Like oh okay, shoot, funny, here's a five, here's a ten.
- 23:38Speaker 13: Like very quickly, you're spending fifty bucks to get pictures
- 23:41Speaker 13: with these sad, lonely, depressed guys. So never again. They
- 23:44Speaker 13: come over and my kids don't.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Like you don't like Marvel characters.
- 23:47Speaker 13: Get out of here. Sorry, don't waste my time. Also,
- 23:49Speaker 13: in addition to that, along with the CD people dress,
- 23:52Speaker 13: those characters are just CD women like you walk binding.
- 23:55Speaker 13: Oh my god, it's a half naked woman. But it's
- 23:56Speaker 13: not even that attractive, and you're like, what is happening
- 23:58Speaker 13: here again? Working for ten it's like a Las Vegas
- 24:01Speaker 13: CD underbelly.
- 24:02Speaker 3: It's brutal.
- 24:03Speaker 1: We're just CDs y e yes, just CDs. Right, we'll
- 24:07Speaker 1: get to fair or faula just a second. Listen, we
- 24:10Speaker 1: all want paychecks from Netflix. Okay, at some point.
- 24:12Speaker 13: In ardise we do. The people who are criticizing Netflix.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Will get over.
- 24:17Speaker 13: Oh, clearly you don't want to work for Netflix, and
- 24:19Speaker 13: clearly you don't want to count.
- 24:20Speaker 3: You and me are right here going.
- 24:21Speaker 13: I thought Netflix did a phenomenal job, right, and seeing
- 24:24Speaker 13: enough times I was did a phenomenal job. I love
- 24:27Speaker 13: Matt Fascros and Laura sha HAUGHTI my friends and colleagues.
- 24:29Speaker 13: They got Barry Bonds to go talk on television. No
- 24:31Speaker 13: one's done that Barry Bunds. How about that quote when
- 24:34Speaker 13: he said I wasn't the best teammate off the field,
- 24:36Speaker 13: but on the field, I thought it was pretty good.
- 24:38Speaker 13: Even on the field he wasn't a great teammate, he
- 24:39Speaker 13: gave him some credit because he would get a lot
- 24:41Speaker 13: of walks. Well, yeah, you're an incredible player. You don't
- 24:43Speaker 13: like you, Barry, but I love the can and they
- 24:45Speaker 13: said off the field, wasn't a great teammate.
- 24:48Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 13: I didn't social slides with anybody, didn't talk to anybody.
- 24:51Speaker 13: But just to see Barry Bonds say that, I loved it.
- 24:53Speaker 13: Great to see him on SETE So you liked the coverage.
- 24:57Speaker 13: I was all in and the people criticizing saying, wow,
- 24:59Speaker 13: they kept holding Netflix shows fellas. They paid fifty million
- 25:03Speaker 13: dollars for these three events, for opening Day, for the
- 25:06Speaker 13: home run, Derby field dreams. I've been to all through
- 25:08Speaker 13: these events. It's not worth fifty million dollars. So you've
- 25:10Speaker 13: got to get your money back somehow. If you're promoting
- 25:13Speaker 13: every Tom, Dick and Harry available on Netflix, that's what
- 25:15Speaker 13: you get for the fifty million dollars. I was it
- 25:17Speaker 13: overt of course, it was over the top. Absolutely, But
- 25:20Speaker 13: you and I've watched the super Bowl on Fox. They
- 25:22Speaker 13: start mentioning, here's Eric stone Street's news show. Check it out,
- 25:25Speaker 13: but ball, I'm like that that's how it goes. Netflix
- 25:27Speaker 13: did to the m Degory, I get it, but overall,
- 25:29Speaker 13: I enjoyed it.
- 25:30Speaker 3: At Nanoverk, I mean he had nothing.
- 25:37Speaker 9: No.
- 25:37Speaker 5: I was gonna ask a follow up question that I
- 25:40Speaker 5: have no follow up qurse Right, I have a health
- 25:42Speaker 5: related question for Izzy.
- 25:43Speaker 13: Yesterday, we're doing an opening day and the show is
- 25:45Speaker 13: from seven until ten. The way this skeed was is
- 25:48Speaker 13: a ton of four o'clock games, and then eight thirty
- 25:51Speaker 13: was d Backs, Dodgers, and a couple of ten o'clock
- 25:52Speaker 13: So we got screwed. Quite frankly, there was no games
- 25:54Speaker 13: on our window. So it's just me the Great Steve
- 25:56Speaker 13: Phillips forummer mets GM did an Austin job, obviously he's
- 25:59Speaker 13: been from it and Chris Young see why the outfielder.
- 26:01Speaker 13: So anyways, at one point, Steve, we're getting through the show,
- 26:03Speaker 13: doing all the holts, et cetera. And I see Steve
- 26:05Speaker 13: chugging this thing called Celsius, and I know I've seen
- 26:08Speaker 13: this a lot of people drinking.
- 26:09Speaker 3: The Celsius stuff.
- 26:09Speaker 13: He's like, yeah, like, how is it?
- 26:10Speaker 3: It's pretty good?
- 26:11Speaker 13: Like I really hey kind of motions. Give me a
- 26:13Speaker 13: simpke and a fun it's okay, all right? And I said,
- 26:15Speaker 13: I don't really drink caffee. I'm not a Mormon, right thing,
- 26:17Speaker 13: it's just not really my jam. I mean, if coffee
- 26:19Speaker 13: tasted like PEPSI I would drink coffee. But it's just
- 26:21Speaker 13: I just don't like to taste because I've had four
- 26:22Speaker 13: cups of coffee today and this is my second Celsius,
- 26:25Speaker 13: so I'm buzzing. So my question to you is this,
- 26:27Speaker 13: I see a lot more people now drinking the Celsius thing.
- 26:29Speaker 3: You are a beacon of fitness.
- 26:30Speaker 13: We all leave an eight pack.
- 26:31Speaker 3: You watch what you eat, watch what you drink.
- 26:33Speaker 13: Are you down with the Celsius or should I avoid
- 26:35Speaker 13: it all costs?
- 26:35Speaker 5: Man, it's so difficult to talk freely in this market,
- 26:39Speaker 5: in this open market, where anybody could be a sponsor
- 26:41Speaker 5: at any given time. Please, So I will just say
- 26:45Speaker 5: that I'm not a fan of any of the energy drinks,
- 26:48Speaker 5: no matter how healthy they try to make themselves sound,
- 26:52Speaker 5: they're not really. So if you're downing multiple CELSII, I
- 26:56Speaker 5: would say after having multiple cups of coffee, I would say,
- 26:59Speaker 5: You're heart's doing a little bit of work and it
- 27:01Speaker 5: probably doesn't need to do, and I would not recommend it.
- 27:03Speaker 3: How do you feel about coffee? I'm good with coffee.
- 27:06Speaker 5: But here's the thing about coffee, and that's I'm just
- 27:08Speaker 5: stealing this meme from the internet somewhere. It's like I
- 27:11Speaker 5: started drinking coffee with no creamer, and then I realized
- 27:14Speaker 5: something I don't like coffee. I like creamer, and so
- 27:19Speaker 5: the creamer being wildly unhealthy. If I can avoid coffee,
- 27:22Speaker 5: I will, but I can't. If people ask me.
- 27:25Speaker 13: To did coffee, said no, they go tag on a
- 27:26Speaker 13: cage man asked me double cream, double sugar, They go,
- 27:29Speaker 13: you're just there sugar exactly? Of course, tvity and nuts?
- 27:33Speaker 13: What hell I fritish? What harm makes it taste good?
- 27:36Speaker 1: He naturally, yes, all right, Taylor has a game for us,
- 27:39Speaker 1: A fair foul Taylor, take it away?
- 27:41Speaker 6: And then so fair foul? Is I have takes from
- 27:44Speaker 6: MLB's opening day, and you have to say whether they
- 27:48Speaker 6: are fair or whether they are foul.
- 27:51Speaker 13: By the way, Taylor, you have a lot to love
- 27:53Speaker 13: to because that game last week was so good. I
- 27:54Speaker 13: kept lamenting the fact we didn't do sixty four teams
- 27:57Speaker 13: head to head. I'm looking forward to next year. Go ahead,
- 27:59Speaker 13: is that.
- 27:59Speaker 1: An organ playing a little baseball, real baseball, really dressed
- 28:04Speaker 1: it up in his baseball put it on the ball
- 28:06Speaker 1: is an Oregon baseball?
- 28:07Speaker 3: Go ahead, Taylor preacher, And then.
- 28:08Speaker 6: After going four for four in his MLB debut, Tiger's
- 28:12Speaker 6: Kevin McGonagall will have the AL Rookie of the Year
- 28:15Speaker 6: wrapped up by June. Fair foul.
- 28:17Speaker 13: Wow, Well it's a wrapped up by June is absurd.
- 28:19Speaker 13: So I'm gonna say foul. But I love this kid.
- 28:21Speaker 13: Twenty one years of age, he's never played above double A,
- 28:24Speaker 13: and when he came to spring training he told his
- 28:26Speaker 13: manager A. J.
- 28:27Speaker 3: Hinch, I want to work on my defense.
- 28:28Speaker 13: When's the last time he heard any twenty one year old,
- 28:31Speaker 13: much less thirty one year old baseball player? So you
- 28:32Speaker 13: know what, I gotta start working on my defense. So
- 28:34Speaker 13: clearly he's got a great head.
- 28:35Speaker 3: On his shoulders. Four hit game yesterday, a.
- 28:37Speaker 13: Couple of doubles. He's among the favorites of American League
- 28:40Speaker 13: Rookie of the Year. I don't think he'll have it
- 28:41Speaker 13: wrapped up by June, but he might end up winning it.
- 28:43Speaker 3: The kid looks like an absolute stub. Is he also foul? Foul? Yes?
- 28:48Speaker 3: I don't know who he is. I mean, can I
- 28:52Speaker 3: just do the signals?
- 28:53Speaker 16: Foul?
- 28:53Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 28:55Speaker 1: Waving it at a bounds Unlike Carlton Fitsk in.
- 28:58Speaker 3: The World Series, all right, got go ahead tail it.
- 29:02Speaker 6: After a rough first start, from Matthew Boyd. The Cubs
- 29:05Speaker 6: need a new number one starter if they want to
- 29:08Speaker 6: seriously contend. Fair foulou, Yeah, I.
- 29:10Speaker 13: Think that's fair. Matthew Boyd was a guy who was
- 29:13Speaker 13: good for many years of the Tigers, but never an age.
- 29:15Speaker 13: Then last year he blossed became excellent.
- 29:17Speaker 3: You go.
- 29:18Speaker 13: I'm always a little hesitant to say a thirty three
- 29:20Speaker 13: or thirty four old ultimately becomes an age So chow
- 29:22Speaker 13: Te Monauga they thought was that guy he struggled the
- 29:25Speaker 13: second half of last season.
- 29:26Speaker 3: I think their ace is Kate Horton.
- 29:28Speaker 13: Kate Horton Horton, here's a who for all those fans
- 29:30Speaker 13: of kids animated movies. This guy had a one oh
- 29:33Speaker 13: three er in the second half of last season. To me,
- 29:35Speaker 13: he's the real deal. Justice Seal. We'll be back midseason.
- 29:38Speaker 13: He could be another guy with the age type stuff.
- 29:40Speaker 13: But yeah, Matthew Boyd to me is a good picture
- 29:42Speaker 13: at times very good. He's not the ace of a
- 29:44Speaker 13: team that thinks they can win the NL Central.
- 29:46Speaker 3: I want to try this game. Fair foul. Time to
- 29:49Speaker 3: worry about Aaron Judge.
- 29:51Speaker 13: Huh, I'm gonna say foul, But I do want to
- 29:57Speaker 13: point out. Stew has something along the lines, which is
- 29:59Speaker 13: that pressure moments my man does not come through, right,
- 30:02Speaker 13: And I argue Opening Day coming off the WBC against
- 30:06Speaker 13: the Giants on Netflix in the fields like a big
- 30:08Speaker 13: stage today? Oh five four K's golden Sebrero and even
- 30:12Speaker 13: Mortes Doe's point. How about this and all the games
- 30:14Speaker 13: which Aaron Judge has struck out four times? All the
- 30:17Speaker 13: times it's happened, they have a winning record, They're nine
- 30:20Speaker 13: and six. When Judge strikes out four more times? How
- 30:22Speaker 13: could you be an MVP if you can still the
- 30:24Speaker 13: guy strikes out four times?
- 30:25Speaker 3: Right? They're almost better without him? Yep? So is it
- 30:28Speaker 3: big spots if they don't really need him? Go ahead,
- 30:32Speaker 3: Taylor Stu.
- 30:33Speaker 6: I don't know if you were paying attention to Opening
- 30:34Speaker 6: Day yesterday, but a single game record was set when
- 30:38Speaker 6: the Brewers struck out the White Sox twenty times, So, Adnan,
- 30:43Speaker 6: after striking out twenty times against the Brewers, the Chicago
- 30:46Speaker 6: White Sox will be the worst team in baseball this season.
- 30:49Speaker 6: Fair or foul again, No.
- 30:50Speaker 13: That's foul. The Rockies are still worse.
- 30:52Speaker 3: Man.
- 30:52Speaker 13: I was just in Denver last week. I was there
- 30:54Speaker 13: for the Avalanche game, and I was laughing at myself.
- 30:56Speaker 13: I said, you know, the stadium's right downtown course Field,
- 30:59Speaker 13: and shot, this is a team that is guaranteed to
- 31:01Speaker 13: lose at least one hundred games. There were fourteenth at
- 31:04Speaker 13: attendants last year. I don't know what that says to me?
- 31:06Speaker 13: Is baseball underappreciated?
- 31:08Speaker 3: Hot butt in Denver?
- 31:09Speaker 13: Are the fans that are just going to see the
- 31:10Speaker 13: opposing team or they just like being downtown there's nothing
- 31:13Speaker 13: else to do in Colorado on the summer. But shocking
- 31:15Speaker 13: to me a team that can lose one hundred and
- 31:17Speaker 13: ten hundred and fifteen games is in the top half
- 31:19Speaker 13: in attendance in baseball.
- 31:20Speaker 3: The Rockies will still be worse.
- 31:21Speaker 13: Yes, he was an awful showing for the White Sox,
- 31:23Speaker 13: a ton of strikeouts.
- 31:24Speaker 3: I love Jacob.
- 31:25Speaker 13: Mizarowski, the eighth of the Brewers who struck out eleven.
- 31:28Speaker 13: They're not gonna be the worst. They're gonna be better
- 31:29Speaker 13: than you think. There may be a sixty win team
- 31:31Speaker 13: which is still one hundred and two losses, but not.
- 31:33Speaker 3: The worst in baseball. Okay, so maybe they won't be
- 31:35Speaker 3: the worst.
- 31:36Speaker 5: But will they be bad enough so that they can
- 31:38Speaker 5: relocate to the Dominican Republic this year, and nobody notices.
- 31:42Speaker 13: I'm gonna say that's fair is Yes, they're gonna be
- 31:44Speaker 13: got it up there.
- 31:46Speaker 1: The rest of those guys could just sneak out in
- 31:47Speaker 1: the middle of the night, head out to Dr. Santa Domingo.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Let me try again. Fair or foul. Paul Skiing should
- 31:52Speaker 1: not have pitched in the World Baseball Classic.
- 31:56Speaker 3: That's how you do it. You don't have to go.
- 31:58Speaker 3: I mean, yes, that's fair. Right.
- 32:00Speaker 13: If he had just been rested in his usual player
- 32:02Speaker 13: he would have been fine. Yeah, he excluded so much
- 32:04Speaker 13: energy in that game against the Dominocrat Republic. I'm throw
- 32:06Speaker 13: from my buddy, dear Rob. They won that game two one,
- 32:08Speaker 13: got to the final, but he gave up one run.
- 32:10Speaker 13: I believe six hits over four plus innings. But yesterday disaster.
- 32:13Speaker 13: Now listen, O'Neill Cruiz needs to learn how to catch it.
- 32:15Speaker 13: But fly ball here for got six. They think he's
- 32:17Speaker 13: their Elie de la Cruz. They think he's their Freano tattists.
- 32:20Speaker 3: Junior my man took two.
- 32:21Speaker 13: Steps in the attracted back to it, could not catch
- 32:23Speaker 13: the ball, and those were not unearned runs like that
- 32:26Speaker 13: should be unearned runs of schemes. He gets charged with
- 32:28Speaker 13: those later on fly ball Stu high Sky and Queens
- 32:31Speaker 13: at seventy and son. He put on some sunglasses, man, Yeah,
- 32:34Speaker 13: squint away trinius, that glove to shield that drops that
- 32:36Speaker 13: ball as well. Scheme's going two thirds of an inning,
- 32:39Speaker 13: five runs, the biggest disappointment of opening day, and he's
- 32:42Speaker 13: got a centerfielder to blame. But maybe you're right, maybe
- 32:44Speaker 13: he didn't have the WBC weighing on his conscience.
- 32:46Speaker 3: He even fine. Meanwhile, School Bull, who was well rested
- 32:49Speaker 3: through a gem. I mean, he go, dear.
- 32:54Speaker 13: I got one star for him, great Britain.
- 32:55Speaker 3: That's it.
- 32:56Speaker 13: If to let him take it it to the house,
- 32:57Speaker 13: I'm about to get three hundred and fifty or four
- 33:00Speaker 13: dollars this year. Six innings, eighty seven pitches. He allowed
- 33:03Speaker 13: three hits, no runs, one unearned. School was great, ad Nan,
- 33:06Speaker 13: thank you. We'll talk to you next week. A little
- 33:08Speaker 13: bit shorter this week because we have Iron Eagle coming up.
- 33:11Speaker 13: But I don't need to promote your boat your book,
- 33:13Speaker 13: because you did.
- 33:14Speaker 3: A great job of doing it by yourself.
- 33:17Speaker 13: I love my Eagle, does a fantastic job as always.
- 33:20Speaker 3: I just I promise you this.
- 33:21Speaker 13: It already sounds cool to me to say I'm on
- 33:23Speaker 13: the same show as Iron Eagle. Can we somehow get
- 33:25Speaker 13: me and Kenny Albert together? If that can happen at
- 33:27Speaker 13: some point, just look it out there, both two guys
- 33:30Speaker 13: selling books with your long past their pride.
- 33:32Speaker 3: I would love it a couple of authors cutting it up.
- 33:34Speaker 3: How about that?
- 33:35Speaker 2: Be sure to catch live editions of Stu Godson Company
- 33:38Speaker 2: Live WEEKDA said three pm Eastern, twelve pm Pacific.
- 33:44Speaker 3: Matt Painter demy do it in the final four? How
- 33:48Speaker 3: about that? Huh has he been to a Final four?
- 33:50Speaker 3: Is he still coaching at Purdue? Yeah?
- 33:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yes, Burdue not a team I watched for the
- 33:54Speaker 1: first time last night this season.
- 33:57Speaker 4: That was like a perfect succession.
- 33:59Speaker 5: I think it was from Katie to Painter and it
- 34:01Speaker 5: hasn't changed, right, and there was nobody in between.
- 34:03Speaker 1: No, No, let's go to before we get to Dan
- 34:06Speaker 1: Bayer here, I want to play some sound from Christopher
- 34:09Speaker 1: mad dog Russo Taylor set this up, please, because I
- 34:12Speaker 1: have a feeling I was listening to.
- 34:13Speaker 3: Doggie on my way home yesterday. I have a feeling
- 34:16Speaker 3: I know where Taylor is added.
- 34:17Speaker 6: Go ahead, So the Star of the Giants Yankees Netflix
- 34:21Speaker 6: game was how much they showed the people in McCovey
- 34:25Speaker 6: Cove kayaking and everybody was celebrating, Oh, how great is kayaking?
- 34:30Speaker 6: And McCovey cove noted Giants fan Christopher mad Dog Russo
- 34:34Speaker 6: not a fan, and that.
- 34:36Speaker 14: Don't be stuck with the Canoes out there with these
- 34:38Speaker 14: balls with home runs.
- 34:40Speaker 3: That is so over played.
- 34:41Speaker 14: It's been going on for twenty five years. I think
- 34:44Speaker 14: everybody who even loves the Giants has had enough of it.
- 34:47Speaker 14: Guys down soon around in Canoes think it's a big
- 34:49Speaker 14: idea to catch some fly ball or to be the
- 34:52Speaker 14: first to grab a ball that got wet over the
- 34:54Speaker 14: right field fence and over the fan base in the
- 34:57Speaker 14: McCovey Cove.
- 34:58Speaker 6: Who cares?
- 35:00Speaker 14: How about the Giant switch the ball games starts? Who
- 35:03Speaker 14: the hell cares them? So that is so played out
- 35:05Speaker 14: it's like saying times square every year? Who cares about
- 35:08Speaker 14: that too?
- 35:08Speaker 13: Oh?
- 35:09Speaker 14: I want to waste a time this stupid canoe stuff.
- 35:12Speaker 14: That's partly Giants and Poutlan Netflix. They think the wall
- 35:14Speaker 14: cares about a bunch of dopes just up as whatever
- 35:18Speaker 14: getting a ball out in right field. Yes, telling us
- 35:21Speaker 14: they're big Giant fans. Well, how do you be a
- 35:23Speaker 14: big Giant fan when you're sitting in right fielding the canoe?
- 35:25Speaker 14: You're not watching a ball game on opening day, for
- 35:28Speaker 14: crying out loud.
- 35:30Speaker 1: So just to be clear, after they win a few
- 35:32Speaker 1: ball games, then anyone can go out into the McCovey
- 35:36Speaker 1: Cove right around in a canoe or kayak.
- 35:38Speaker 6: But also, to be fair to mad Dog's point, don't
- 35:42Speaker 6: say you're a Giants fan if you're just sitting in
- 35:45Speaker 6: McCovey Cove not even really watching the game.
- 35:47Speaker 5: All right, Okay, look to me, he had me at
- 35:50Speaker 5: first where he was just like, this isn't it sounded
- 35:53Speaker 5: like this isn't necessarily about the people in the canoes.
- 35:57Speaker 5: It's just stop cutting to them. We don't want to
- 35:59Speaker 5: see them. Hey, Netflix, baseball's been around for a while,
- 36:02Speaker 5: McCovey Cove's been around for a while, this park's been around.
- 36:05Speaker 5: We've seen it before. We don't need to see it
- 36:06Speaker 5: all the time. I get that, yes, but when you're
- 36:09Speaker 5: just hating on the people who had just tried to
- 36:11Speaker 5: have a fun experience out there in their little canoes,
- 36:14Speaker 5: you're waiting for a baseball those people do not deserve that.
- 36:17Speaker 3: But they haven't won a few ball games.
- 36:18Speaker 5: Shits who know that they really consider themselves real giants
- 36:22Speaker 5: fans or if they're just people who like to be
- 36:24Speaker 5: on the water.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Now, I am totally with Dog on Times Square. Never
- 36:27Speaker 1: been there on New Year's Eve and no desire to
- 36:29Speaker 1: go there on New Year's Eve. And I think what
- 36:31Speaker 1: is he is doing is defending something he would do
- 36:33Speaker 1: whether there was a baseball game or not.
- 36:35Speaker 3: Go out in the cove and just kayak.
- 36:37Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean I'd like to do that way
- 36:39Speaker 4: more than I'd like to go watch a baseball game.
- 36:42Speaker 6: Terrible take. Yeah, I would throw a tomato at that
- 36:46Speaker 6: take right now if I could.
- 36:47Speaker 1: More exciting kayaking or a baseball gate, put it on
- 36:51Speaker 1: the ball tailor. All right, Dan, stay right where you are,
- 36:54Speaker 1: because I believe our day has finally arrived.
- 36:57Speaker 3: Taylor has an idea to save baseball. We've been asking
- 37:00Speaker 3: Taylor to.
- 37:01Speaker 1: Do updates around here for a while because he likes
- 37:03Speaker 1: to critique all the update anchors here at Fox Sports Radio.
- 37:07Speaker 3: So Taylor, go ahead, this is just the one. We're
- 37:09Speaker 3: just well no Ike as well.
- 37:11Speaker 1: He gave me a private critique of Mike one day
- 37:14Speaker 1: that I will not share with anyone on this show.
- 37:17Speaker 3: He likes them. He likes them a lot. It was
- 37:19Speaker 3: not a it wasn't critical, it was just new he's
- 37:21Speaker 3: lying to Yeah, I'm totally lying.
- 37:24Speaker 1: So anyway, Taylor set this up here. This is your
- 37:27Speaker 1: idea for Major League Baseball.
- 37:30Speaker 6: So my favorite thing growing up on ESPN Chris Berman's
- 37:34Speaker 6: two minute drill, and some people have replicated that since
- 37:38Speaker 6: Chris Berman mainly part of my take during football season, yep,
- 37:42Speaker 6: but nobody really does any type of updates for baseball,
- 37:47Speaker 6: and you're looking at how big football is and I'm thinking, man,
- 37:50Speaker 6: if somebody could just translate what Chris Berman did with
- 37:53Speaker 6: a two minute drill to baseball, could that not work?
- 37:56Speaker 3: So you're the guy.
- 37:58Speaker 6: So I've got only one game. We're only gonna do
- 38:02Speaker 6: one game from yesterday. But I was Sam first, I need,
- 38:06Speaker 6: I need my music.
- 38:08Speaker 3: It's gonna be him. It's gonna be him as Chris Burber.
- 38:11Speaker 6: We go out to Cincinnati to Great American Ballpark, or
- 38:15Speaker 6: as I like to call it, Late American Ballpark because
- 38:18Speaker 6: we're still waiting for the Reds offense to show up
- 38:22Speaker 6: on the bump for Boston. It was Garrett Crow, say
- 38:26Speaker 6: can you see me? Throws six scoreless innings in his
- 38:30Speaker 6: season debut, leading the way for the Socks. At the plate,
- 38:33Speaker 6: it was Roman Carmelo Anthony for three hits and Jaron Duran. Duran,
- 38:40Speaker 6: who was hungry like a wolf for this season to
- 38:42Speaker 6: get started, said forget your state farm, forget your all
- 38:46Speaker 6: stake whip. I've got your insurance right here, adding that
- 38:49Speaker 6: third run for good measure in the ninth. Then in
- 38:53Speaker 6: for the save. It was a raaldish chap Man. I
- 38:56Speaker 6: feel like a woman became much like my woman watching
- 39:00Speaker 6: sports with me. The only thing he wanted was for
- 39:02Speaker 6: that game to end Red Sox three, red zero. Who's patient?
- 39:11Speaker 3: Do you teach?
- 39:13Speaker 16: I do believe?
- 39:14Speaker 3: I mean I was. That was amazing. I don't know
- 39:17Speaker 3: how your voice withstood all that, but that was amazing. Well,
- 39:20Speaker 3: it didn't sound like Chris Berman. It just sounded like
- 39:22Speaker 3: Taylor after smoking a pack of heaters.
- 39:24Speaker 1: I mean except when he said, damn Bayer critique that please,
- 39:31Speaker 1: very well done.
- 39:32Speaker 15: I just didn't know who he threw it to at
- 39:34Speaker 15: the end, but it was that to TJ or is
- 39:37Speaker 15: it TG? I wasn't sure, but.
- 39:39Speaker 5: He spot on well done also many levels to the
- 39:43Speaker 5: eraal the chap Man.
- 39:45Speaker 1: I feel like I wan jo Yes, but damn when
- 39:47Speaker 1: you say spot on everything but the imitation, right, I
- 39:50Speaker 1: mean I thought.
- 39:52Speaker 15: It was like his creative interpretation of Chris Berman. So
- 39:55Speaker 15: that's why I was fine with it.
- 39:59Speaker 3: You say based all Taylor.
- 40:01Speaker 6: Now imagine that, but just every game. So I only
- 40:04Speaker 6: did one game from yesterday. So the problem with baseball
- 40:08Speaker 6: and why it's so much easier for football. You have
- 40:10Speaker 6: sixteen games for football to sit down and write for Monday.
- 40:14Speaker 6: I don't know how we would do this moving forward
- 40:16Speaker 6: if I just pick a random game. But it's just
- 40:20Speaker 6: just no, it's on the table. We can save baseball,
- 40:22Speaker 6: I think a couple of notes, yes, if you don't mind. Nope,
- 40:26Speaker 6: the whoop sound wild, brilliant, love it laughed. Didn't you
- 40:31Speaker 6: just do that when somebody juked somebody? So does that
- 40:34Speaker 6: really belong in a baseball highlight?
- 40:36Speaker 3: Well? I mean, okay my highlight.
- 40:38Speaker 4: That yeah, well your highlight also is missing unless I
- 40:41Speaker 4: missed it.
- 40:42Speaker 3: Did we get it back back back?
- 40:44Speaker 14: No?
- 40:44Speaker 6: There was no home runs in the game three.
- 40:46Speaker 5: Okay, that wasn't even like back back like to the
- 40:49Speaker 5: warning track. And maybe you could just offer it, but okay,
- 40:51Speaker 5: for next time, we'll save it.
- 40:53Speaker 1: I was Sam, I got your text hit the breaking
- 40:55Speaker 1: news Sounder and Dan Byer come to the mic and tell.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Us the news.
- 41:01Speaker 2: Breaking news from Fox.
- 41:03Speaker 15: Sports guys in your neck of the woods. The Martin
- 41:05Speaker 15: County Sheriff's Office is saying that Tiger Woods was involved
- 41:08Speaker 15: in a rollover crash earlier today in Jupiter Island. The
- 41:13Speaker 15: accident reportedly occurred around two o'clock. No details on Tiger's
- 41:19Speaker 15: health in the matter or what actually happened. But Tiger
- 41:22Speaker 15: Woods involved in a rollover crash in Jupiter Island.
- 41:25Speaker 1: Man, I mean just played in that indoor league in
- 41:29Speaker 1: Jupiter in the finals. Everyone made a big deal about it.
- 41:32Speaker 1: And now he's in another car accident and he was
- 41:35Speaker 1: trying to get back to play Augusta this year.
- 41:37Speaker 3: Is he so kind of interesting? What's going on with Tiger?
- 41:39Speaker 5: I'm gonna text my friend in the Martin County Firehouse
- 41:42Speaker 5: and see if they have any further detail.
- 41:44Speaker 3: Said that on the air, but I'm gonna trying to
- 41:47Speaker 3: get to the bottom of the story.
- 41:48Speaker 1: Looking at him, the journalist takes over the second he
- 41:52Speaker 1: finds out news about Tiger Woods in a rollover accident. Obviously,
- 41:57Speaker 1: we hope Tiger is okay. I don't know how it's
- 42:00Speaker 1: going to impact him playing golf moving forward. I think
- 42:02Speaker 1: the chances of that were pretty slim to begin with
- 42:04Speaker 1: before the accident, just because of everything Tiger has been
- 42:07Speaker 1: through and his body has been through over the many
- 42:10Speaker 1: many years of playing on the tour, end over the
- 42:13Speaker 1: previous car accidents. Right, yes, so interesting stuff there, all right,
- 42:18Speaker 1: keep us posted. If isy, I'm talking to you.
- 42:21Speaker 3: I'm on my phone. I got him chefter.
- 42:23Speaker 5: If anything else, anybody needs to know anything in Martin County, yeap.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Yes, we will get to Taylor singing in just a
- 42:29Speaker 1: moment here. I want to play some sound from Draymond Green.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I always saying, if you have it back there. This
- 42:35Speaker 1: is from his own podcast. I believe, is he because
- 42:37Speaker 1: everything he says is on his own podcast. Because the
- 42:39Speaker 1: athletes don't need us anymore. I believe this is from
- 42:41Speaker 1: a postgame. I believe you would asked the question, but
- 42:43Speaker 1: this is let me say this. He should have saved
- 42:46Speaker 1: it for his pot.
- 42:47Speaker 5: Well, he should have, absolutely, But I believe we're playing
- 42:50Speaker 5: it because I had mentioned recently about me not loving
- 42:53Speaker 5: Victor Winbinyama giving his you know, three step approach to
- 42:57Speaker 5: winning the MVP or plan to wear case win the MVP,
- 43:00Speaker 5: and Draymond chimed in on it as well.
- 43:03Speaker 3: I hated it and I absolutely loved it.
- 43:06Speaker 9: The reason I hated it is because until Winby say
- 43:09Speaker 9: defense is fifty percent of the game, it was like,
- 43:12Speaker 9: oh man, no one will realized that, right, Like, no
- 43:15Speaker 9: one realized that fifty percent of the game we play
- 43:18Speaker 9: is on that end of the floor. So he comes
- 43:20Speaker 9: out and makes this profound as statement and it's like, oh,
- 43:24Speaker 9: of course it is, and everybody's like, oh man, he
- 43:26Speaker 9: has a great point. Hello you think So I hated
- 43:31Speaker 9: it because he had to do that for that to
- 43:33Speaker 9: the NVC. All of a sudden, you turn on TV
- 43:35Speaker 9: and everybody's like, actually, maybe with me is the MVP.
- 43:39Speaker 3: And I can agree with that, maybe he is.
- 43:41Speaker 9: But the fact that he has to come out and
- 43:43Speaker 9: remind people, hey, y'all see what I do over there,
- 43:46Speaker 9: it's like an indictment on the game of basketball.
- 43:50Speaker 1: How well, it's the fans not realizing that defense is
- 43:53Speaker 1: half the game. It's an important part of the game.
- 43:55Speaker 1: And I got news for Draymond.
- 43:56Speaker 3: We don't.
- 43:57Speaker 5: I mean, well, I mean this was Draymond obviously elevated
- 44:00Speaker 5: his portion of what he does on the floor, which
- 44:02Speaker 5: is defensive. But I completely completely disagree with the idea
- 44:06Speaker 5: that defense is half of the game, right, because what
- 44:10Speaker 5: do people tell you all the time? Good offense will
- 44:13Speaker 5: always beat good defense. Good defense better offense. It is
- 44:17Speaker 5: not a fifty to fifty thing. If you want to
- 44:19Speaker 5: go by let's say shooting percentage, right, A decent shooter
- 44:22Speaker 5: will shoot about fifty percent. So if you're saying that
- 44:25Speaker 5: the other fifty percent, he has just played good defense.
- 44:27Speaker 5: Nor he's just people just miss wide open shots.
- 44:31Speaker 3: That's horrible defense.
- 44:32Speaker 5: Defense is not quite the same as offense, and it
- 44:34Speaker 5: has been played that way, or has been judged that way,
- 44:37Speaker 5: and has been awarded that way since the beginning.
- 44:40Speaker 3: Of the NBA. You know what I say to people
- 44:42Speaker 3: all the time, though, right, is he?
- 44:43Speaker 6: No?
- 44:44Speaker 3: It's that defense wins championships.
- 44:45Speaker 5: Yeah, and it does, right, it does, Yes, But that
- 44:48Speaker 5: defense becomes hey, I want to be really good, and
- 44:53Speaker 5: I want to play harder, and I'm going to stop
- 44:55Speaker 5: them one or two or three more possessions than I
- 44:58Speaker 5: normally do in the regular season.
- 44:59Speaker 4: That's still isn't fifty to fifty.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Taylor put it on the poll. Can you say you
- 45:03Speaker 1: hate something, in moments later say you love it.
- 45:05Speaker 3: I mean Draymond at the beginning of that said I
- 45:10Speaker 3: hate it, but I love it. Yeah, but it's also
- 45:13Speaker 3: very Draymond. Yes, but yeah.
- 45:15Speaker 5: I think I wanted to listen to that, hoping that
- 45:19Speaker 5: Draymond had this great point about it, right, But really
- 45:22Speaker 5: he's just mad that Wemby is selling himself out there
- 45:25Speaker 5: and trying to give himself a reason to bump himself
- 45:29Speaker 5: up as a result.
- 45:30Speaker 3: But really it's not going to look.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Like I think ten years from now, Wenby's gonna look
- 45:34Speaker 5: back and be like, yeah, I probably shouldn't have given
- 45:36Speaker 5: my case for MVP.
- 45:37Speaker 1: He's young, he'll learn as he goes here. But I
- 45:39Speaker 1: actually liked it from this standpoint. The guy cares. He
- 45:43Speaker 1: cares enough where he had like a three point plan
- 45:46Speaker 1: as to why he should be the NBA's MVP. And
- 45:50Speaker 1: I love that because it's been a while since we've
- 45:52Speaker 1: had a guy like Wemby who feels like all of this, everything,
- 45:55Speaker 1: every second of it, means the world to him.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Is he and that's a good thing for the leagueddly enough.
- 46:00Speaker 5: I think that was in the question too, where he
- 46:02Speaker 5: was like, yeah, give me your like three step plan
- 46:04Speaker 5: for or nut plan, but a case for MVP Adam Right,
- 46:08Speaker 5: the reason that I don't love Draymond saying that you know,
- 46:12Speaker 5: uh duh, the league should know. I should be getting
- 46:14Speaker 5: more awards because defense is half of the game. Is
- 46:18Speaker 5: Wemby because of his ability and his length, he could argue,
- 46:23Speaker 5: I make defense more than half of the game. I
- 46:25Speaker 5: take away the entire paint for a team. That's way
- 46:29Speaker 5: different than when Draymon. Draymond can blow up a play Draymond.
- 46:32Speaker 5: You know, one on one, you don't want to mess
- 46:33Speaker 5: with Amy. But if Draymond's in the paint, people aren't
- 46:36Speaker 5: avoiding the paint. They're going to try to go up
- 46:38Speaker 5: and dunk on him. Right, He might knock you down,
- 46:40Speaker 5: he might flagrantly falue. But Victor Wembinyami, you got people
- 46:43Speaker 5: just avoiding the painted area in general, and that creates
- 46:47Speaker 5: a different level of defensive mattering, right, more than fifty percent.
- 46:52Speaker 5: If you're taking away most of a team's offense, that's
- 46:55Speaker 5: different than anything Draymond has ever played.
- 46:57Speaker 1: I think Wemby is the MVP. He saved the All
- 47:00Speaker 1: Star Game. I mean yes, and the Spurs are a
- 47:03Speaker 1: lot better than people thought, a lot sooner than people thought.
- 47:06Speaker 3: And so therefore any cares. He cares about this stuff deeply.
- 47:09Speaker 1: I'm not saying the other guys don't, but this guy
- 47:11Speaker 1: seems to be a throwback to guys who played in
- 47:14Speaker 1: the eighties.
- 47:14Speaker 3: Would you let to hear Taylor sing?
- 47:16Speaker 9: Is he? Oh?
- 47:17Speaker 3: My goodness, no, but I do want the rest of
- 47:20Speaker 3: the audience to hear him. Say so, I have heard
- 47:22Speaker 3: this song.
- 47:23Speaker 1: And by the way, we have Salacata on the podcast,
- 47:27Speaker 1: and we also have Adam Lefko on the podcast. We
- 47:30Speaker 1: played this song for Salvakata on the podcast. So I've
- 47:33Speaker 1: had a sneak preview here and what I am telling you,
- 47:36Speaker 1: and we will tease it, will play it coming up
- 47:38Speaker 1: here in the next segment. What I'll tell you is
- 47:40Speaker 1: he is this is something that you don't want to hear.
- 47:45Speaker 1: But without further ado, let's play Taylor's song. Taylor put
- 47:50Speaker 1: together a song here. He's got a terrible voice, which
- 47:53Speaker 1: makes it better for this show and for radio. Let's
- 47:55Speaker 1: check it out.
- 47:56Speaker 6: So is he the song context? The Mets have a
- 48:00Speaker 6: rookie Carson Beinge, who is their phenom right fielder. He
- 48:03Speaker 6: was their first round pick in twenty twenty four, made
- 48:06Speaker 6: his MLB debut yesterday, and he homered in his MLB debut.
- 48:11Speaker 6: So the calls courtesy of How He Rose on Mets Radio.
- 48:14Speaker 6: The song is courtesy of your boy.
- 48:16Speaker 3: First pitch, Bench hits it in the air to right field,
- 48:19Speaker 3: fairly deep.
- 48:19Speaker 13: O hernback hit the wall and it's gone.
- 48:22Speaker 7: He headed off the canopy and the right field pulp pen.
- 48:26Speaker 13: Carson Binge makes.
- 48:27Speaker 7: His first major league hit, a home run. Congratulations to
- 48:32Speaker 7: Carson Beinge as he gets an enthusiastic pat on the
- 48:37Speaker 7: back from third base coach Tim Leaper, an aggressive fist
- 48:41Speaker 7: bump from Francisco Alvarez, and they went in to congratulate
- 48:45Speaker 7: the kid, and the Mets dugout. Carson Beinge his first
- 48:49Speaker 7: major league's knock kin homer and the Mets take.
- 48:52Speaker 3: A ten to five lead benge.
- 49:02Speaker 12: The Mets don't need to look normal. We just found
- 49:10Speaker 12: what we were looking for.
- 49:15Speaker 16: With a swing to Collone, He'll crush it in the
- 49:22Speaker 16: zone and you, my bench, will see you've got us
- 49:27Speaker 16: filled with clean.
- 49:31Speaker 6: Clean got some backup, sire, benge.
- 49:37Speaker 12: You sent that ball into the end, Bene, you crushed
- 49:45Speaker 12: that thing.
- 49:46Speaker 6: Up out of that.
- 49:50Speaker 16: If you check out benchesty line you will like what
- 49:57Speaker 16: you find.
- 49:58Speaker 2: The Holy will soon.
- 50:00Speaker 16: No, it's Benjin want So.
- 50:06Speaker 6: Bengine wan so.
- 50:12Speaker 3: A little lighter.
- 50:16Speaker 6: What was that song originally Ben by Michael Jackson.
- 50:20Speaker 3: I never heard of that song, but it's a great song.
- 50:24Speaker 5: It's a good song choice because even though I'd never
- 50:25Speaker 5: heard of it, it's still worked.
- 50:28Speaker 3: His voice is terrible, James Taylor, you are not.
- 50:31Speaker 5: Was that very like almost inaudible women's voice? Was that
- 50:37Speaker 5: part of the of the actual thing? Or was that
- 50:40Speaker 5: somebody that you had singing that?
- 50:42Speaker 6: No, so that was me downloading the ben karaoke and
- 50:46Speaker 6: not being able to find a version that didn't have
- 50:49Speaker 6: the female actual singing the song. So it's just the
- 50:53Speaker 6: actual song just much much lower.
- 50:58Speaker 3: That was amazing.
- 51:00Speaker 5: I saw a headline with his name on it and
- 51:03Speaker 5: thought his name was Benji, which I thought would have
- 51:05Speaker 5: been better. That's not your fault, that's just how he
- 51:07Speaker 5: pronounces his name right.
- 51:09Speaker 3: And I will say, I think your singing voice has
- 51:12Speaker 3: gotten a little better, a little better. Listen. He nailed
- 51:15Speaker 3: Chris Berman, So it's okay to be a little bit
- 51:17Speaker 3: off on the singing voice.
- 51:19Speaker 6: So the first time I did the song. So the
- 51:21Speaker 6: reason why I do the songs is because I was
- 51:23Speaker 6: an old school Lebazard show with Stu Gott's listener, and
- 51:26Speaker 6: the worse the songs are the funnier. So the first
- 51:29Speaker 6: time I pitched a song, somebody was like, oh, you
- 51:32Speaker 6: should auto tune your voice so it sounds better. I
- 51:34Speaker 6: was like, what, listen?
- 51:36Speaker 3: Who I don't?
- 51:37Speaker 6: I don't. I don't need to explain the show to you,
- 51:40Speaker 6: but I'm doing a thing here.
- 51:44Speaker 5: I also don't know if there's enough auto tune on
- 51:46Speaker 5: the planet to make that sound particularly great.
- 51:49Speaker 3: Put it on the poles, or enough auto tune on
- 51:51Speaker 3: the planet to make Taylor's voice good.
- 51:54Speaker 5: However, when you layer horrible with a little background, horrible, Yes,
- 51:59Speaker 5: that's not to rrible.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Two horribles make it decent.
- 52:02Speaker 1: No, I'm gonna try to squeeze in a quick question
- 52:04Speaker 1: to you. Is he before add Dan Burk joins us.
- 52:06Speaker 1: George Gervin, who did not trademark the Iceman, is upset
- 52:09Speaker 1: because Caleb Williams did trademark the Iceman.
- 52:12Speaker 3: How do you feel about that?
- 52:13Speaker 5: I feel like George Gerbon had a lot of time
- 52:16Speaker 5: to learn how to trademark something, how much money or
- 52:20Speaker 5: you can make from trademarking something, and to kind of
- 52:23Speaker 5: look around and make sure nobody else had the nickname. Therefore,
- 52:28Speaker 5: had plenty of time, my man, I'm sorry, George eight.
- 52:31Speaker 1: Seven seven ninety nine on Fox, Want to Talk Baseball
- 52:34Speaker 1: with Ad dan Virk or movies?
- 52:35Speaker 3: We do so next?
- 52:36Speaker 6: What about Chuckle now?
