- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello, Christians.
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: This is Dallas Beecham, and I've got good news.
- 0:08SPEAKER_00: Picture a scroll moving through time.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Moses stands before Israel and commands parents to teach God's words diligently to their children.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: They are to speak of them at home, on the road, in the morning and at night.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: The word must not stop with one generation.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Generations pass.
- 0:32SPEAKER_00: In Josiah's day, the book of the law is recovered, opened, and read aloud.
- 0:38SPEAKER_00: The king hears it, humbles himself, and calls the nation back to covenant faithfulness.
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: Later Ezra stands before the people and reads distinctly, helping them understand what God has said.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: The scroll keeps moving.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: In Nazareth, Jesus enters the synagogue, receives the scroll of Isaiah, and reads the promise of good news.
- 1:07SPEAKER_00: He declares that scripture is fulfilled in their hearing.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Then, on the road from Jerusalem to Gaza, an Ethiopian official reads Isaiah in his chariot.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: Philip comes alongside, explains the passage, and announces Jesus.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: One written witness crosses centuries, borders, and lives.
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: How did Scripture keep moving?
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: God's people copied it very carefully.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: They read it publicly.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: They taught it in their homes and in their gatherings.
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: They carried it into new places.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: They translated it so hearers could understand.
- 1:52SPEAKER_00: Each act required attention, patience, and respect for the message entrusted to them.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: We do not need exaggerated stories about manuscript history to see the wonder.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: The Bible itself shows faithful people receiving God's words and passing them onward.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: The Old and New Testaments are not rival books.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: Together they form one connected written witness to God's saving work.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: After his resurrection, Jesus explained that what was written about him in the law of Moses, the prophets, and the Psalms had to be fulfilled.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: In Luke 24, 44 through 49, he opened his disciples' understanding, pointed to his suffering and resurrection, and sent them to proclaim repentance and forgiveness to all nations.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: The earlier scriptures prepared the road.
- 2:56SPEAKER_00: The apostolic witness announced the risen Christ who walked that road to completion.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Romans 15 and 4 says that what was written beforehand was written for our learning, so that through endurance and encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: Notice the movement written, preserved, read, learned, and lived.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: Scripture reaches us not as a museum piece, but as a living testimony that teaches patience and awakens hope.
- 3:33SPEAKER_00: Translation is part of that faithful movement.
- 3:37SPEAKER_00: When Scripture is translated carefully, readers can hear God's message in the language they know.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: A translation does not make truth new, it carries the meaning across.
- 3:51SPEAKER_00: That is why careful reading matters.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: Those who use the King James Version may meet older words whose meanings have shifted.
- 4:01SPEAKER_00: A wise reader studies those words in their sentence, their chapter, and the Bible's larger message.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Good tools and trustworthy teachers can help, but context keeps us from forcing a modern meaning onto an older expression.
- 4:22SPEAKER_00: Now the scroll has reached our hands.
- 4:25SPEAKER_00: That is both a gift and a responsibility.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: We are called to receive Scripture with humility, obey it with courage, teach it with patience, and pass it on with care.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: We must not twist its words to excuse ourselves, win an argument, or impress a crowd.
- 4:46SPEAKER_00: We do not improve God's message by changing its meaning.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: We honor it by listening closely and living faithfully.
- 4:56SPEAKER_00: Imagine a child hearing a Bible story at a kitchen table, a congregation listening together, a traveler reading on a phone, or a new believer opening a translation for the first time.
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: The setting changes, but the call remains.
- 5:15SPEAKER_00: Hear what God has spoken, understand it honestly and respond.
- 5:21SPEAKER_00: The book crosses generations because faithful people kept opening it up.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: Today open it again.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: Read with reverence.
- 5:31SPEAKER_00: Ask what the passage truly says.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: Let the whole witness lead you to Christ, strengthen your hope, correct your path, and prepare you to place the same treasure into another person's hands.
- 5:48SPEAKER_00: I hope today's message has touched your heart and causes you to have a good day.
