- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, thanks for listening to today's episode of the Daily Rider Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: You've heard of the saying, the devil is in the details.
- 0:21SPEAKER_00: And this saying refers to the fact that whenever things go wrong, many times it's the little things that can derail a project or even a business or a relationship.
- 0:30SPEAKER_00: Well, angels are in the details too, and this is especially true when it comes to creating a product like a book.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Things like cover design, interior formatting, layout, margins, spelling, grammar, proper citation of sources, and a lot of other things make a big difference when it comes to creating an awesome book.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: But here's one example from the world of music.
- 0:53SPEAKER_00: Listen to Paul McCartney's bass lines in virtually any song recorded by the Beatles.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Paul McCartney constantly adds in tiny details that make it so much more than just a standard, boring bass line.
- 1:06SPEAKER_00: There is musicianship and there's artistry, and you can hear it if you listen really closely.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: The lesson here is to go the extra mile for your readers.
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: We do this because we care about them.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: We do it because we care about our craft.
- 1:22SPEAKER_00: We want to give it our best.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: The writer John Updike said, creativity is merely a plus name for regular activity.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: Any activity becomes creative when the doer cares about doing it right or better.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: So don't let the devil get into the details.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: Let the angels in, and they will bring excellence and a quality to your work that really makes it shine.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question Are you willing to spend the extra time on the details to help ensure that you're creating something excellent and something that you can be proud of?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
