- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, what's going on, everybody? We're getting closer to Halloween.
- 0:02Speaker 1: We talked a little bit about trick-or-treating. It may rain
- 0:05Speaker 1: on Halloween, so we'll see how we handle that. We
- 0:07Speaker 1: talked about the best and the worst candy as well.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Let's get going.
- 0:11Speaker 1: So Halloween is coming, right? We got to talk about
- 0:14Speaker 1: your costumes. Guy just sent me this text message.
- 0:16Speaker 2: All right, 8-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Hey, Romeo, I wanted to ask you about Halloween costumes.
- 0:23Speaker 1: My wife and I are going to my company Halloween party.
- 0:26Speaker 1: They're having one this year. Now, mind you, my wife
- 0:29Speaker 1: is a good-looking woman, but she's also a mother of
- 0:33Speaker 1: my three children, and she wants to dress as a
- 0:36Speaker 1: sexy cat. Sexy cat?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:44Speaker 1: I think the costume is a little too sexual-y. What
- 0:51Speaker 1: do you think?
- 0:54Speaker 2: I don't know, man.
- 0:56Speaker 1: One of the great things about Halloween was, is that
- 1:00Speaker 1: you get to express yourself in a way, you know,
- 1:04Speaker 1: whether it be a sexy nurse cat, whatever.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Or whether it be a ghoul or a goblin or Franken.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Whatever the case, you know, you get to do something
- 1:15Speaker 1: kind of out of your character and maybe it's in
- 1:17Speaker 1: your character. You know, a lot of these women, like
- 1:22Speaker 1: you said, let me talk about your wife for a second.
- 1:24Speaker 1: I'm just assuming, unless you want to give me more information.
- 1:27Speaker 1: She's had three children. She's a married woman. She's probably
- 1:31Speaker 1: in great shape. She probably worked hard to be in
- 1:34Speaker 1: shape after having three children. And she can pull off
- 1:38Speaker 1: the sexy cat or the sexy whatever outfit she wants
- 1:42Speaker 1: to wear.
- 1:43Speaker 2: So the real question is, why are you not allowing her.
- 1:47Speaker 1: To do that? Because, well, let me.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Go both ways. Why aren't you allowing her to do that?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Because Halloween gives her the opportunity to do something out
- 1:59Speaker 1: of her normal behavior, right? Gives her a chance to
- 2:02Speaker 1: be a little freaky, a little whatever, push the limits
- 2:05Speaker 1: of her for, uh, for one night. Now, why would
- 2:10Speaker 1: it be too sexual for your company party? Is it
- 2:14Speaker 1: a professional? I mean, what, You're having a Halloween party.
- 2:18Speaker 1: So my question is, you're having a Halloween party. Aren't
- 2:22Speaker 1: people supposed to dress up for a Halloween party? So
- 2:26Speaker 1: I don't know what you're real. I don't know what
- 2:28Speaker 1: you want me to say.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Um, are you secure with your wife? Are you secure
- 2:34Speaker 1: in your marriage? Is everything, I mean, you're worried people
- 2:36Speaker 1: are going to talk about you the next day at work.
- 2:39Speaker 1: I mean, what are you worried about? You're going to
- 2:40Speaker 1: go to work on Monday and people are going to say.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Man, did you see Bill's wife? She was smoking hot
- 2:45Speaker 2: in that sexy cat outfit.
- 2:46Speaker 1: Or, or are you worried they're going to, you know,
- 2:49Speaker 1: slut shame her because, uh, she dressed like, you know,
- 2:53Speaker 1: a sexy cat for Halloween.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I don't know what you're asking.
- 2:59Speaker 1: So I'm going to go with I think it's okay
- 3:02Speaker 1: because if it's not something she normally does, then, you know,
- 3:07Speaker 1: let her express herself for one night. And I guess
- 3:10Speaker 1: his wife wants to dress as a sexy cat, sexy
- 3:13Speaker 1: costume for his work's Halloween party, right?
- 3:18Speaker 2: He wants to know what I think. Is it right?
- 3:20Speaker 2: Is it appropriate? I can go both ways with it. But,
- 3:23Speaker 2: I mean... I don't know. What do you think? Good morning.
- 3:28Speaker 2: How's it going on?
- 3:29Speaker 4: Hey, what's up, Romeo? Your question is, why wouldn't you
- 3:31Speaker 4: let your wife wear a sexy Halloween outfit to work?
- 3:34Speaker 1: Well, to his company party is what he's saying, you know.
- 3:38Speaker 4: Yeah, well, in the morning you were talking about that chance,
- 3:42Speaker 4: you know, given that chance of cheating. And then now
- 3:46Speaker 4: when you mention it, like, that only time when the
- 3:49Speaker 4: company gets to see or show off that she's sexy
- 3:52Speaker 4: and not wear the regular outfit, you know, it's kind
- 3:55Speaker 4: of contradicting, bro.
- 3:56Speaker 5: What?
- 3:58Speaker 1: Here's the problem with this, though. This is the problem
- 4:00Speaker 1: I have. Halloween is a unique circumstance for people to
- 4:04Speaker 1: express themselves in ways that they don't normally get to
- 4:07Speaker 1: do the other 364 days of the year, whether it
- 4:11Speaker 1: be in some psychotic, creepy way or whether it be
- 4:14Speaker 1: in a sexual way. So if you look at it
- 4:16Speaker 1: from that perspective, you have to go, wait a second. OK,
- 4:19Speaker 1: my wife is not a real provocative person. All the
- 4:22Speaker 1: rest of the days of the year. So if she
- 4:24Speaker 1: wants to step outside herself for a minute, then I
- 4:27Speaker 1: don't see anything wrong with it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: But let me tell you this as well.
- 4:33Speaker 1: If a woman's hot or a man's hot, it doesn't matter.
- 4:37Speaker 2: What they wear. You can tell. I mean, come on.
- 4:40Speaker 2: You see a smoking hot nurse in scrubs.
- 4:42Speaker 1: You know she works out. The scrubs don't hide it.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I mean, you can't hide a physically fit person.
- 4:50Speaker 2: No matter what you wear.
- 4:51Speaker 4: You're right about that. But the husband is not used,
- 4:54Speaker 4: like you said, since she's not used to dress provocative
- 4:56Speaker 4: all year, that one day it's going to throw him off.
- 5:00Speaker 4: And I know exactly what he's feeling. You know this
- 5:02Speaker 4: girl's already hot and is just going to take it
- 5:05Speaker 4: over the top.
- 5:06Speaker 2: But it's Halloween.
- 5:09Speaker 1: It's not like she's wearing it to go to the
- 5:11Speaker 1: grocery store.
- 5:12Speaker 2: Halloween.
- 5:14Speaker 1: Everybody's stepping outside themselves and expressing themselves in a way
- 5:17Speaker 1: that maybe they wish they could do it all year long.
- 5:20Speaker 2: But It's just one night.
- 5:25Speaker 6: One night, huh, Romeo?
- 5:26Speaker 5: One night.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Get out of here. Oh, hey, Rome.
- 5:31Speaker 1: It's okay because it's his company party. If it was
- 5:34Speaker 1: her company party, it would be a no-no. So she
- 5:37Speaker 1: can dress sexy to her husband's company party, but not
- 5:41Speaker 1: her own?
- 5:43Speaker 2: Uh, okay. All right.
- 5:49Speaker 5: 8-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Somebody sent me a meme.
- 5:52Speaker 1: It says, from Mean Girls, says, the hardcore girls just
- 5:56Speaker 1: wear lingerie and some form of animal ears.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Good morning, Don. What's going on?
- 6:22Speaker 7: You already know it's just a band-aid leotard showing all
- 6:25Speaker 7: everything with some cat eyes or something dumb. It's basically
- 6:29Speaker 7: just wearing spanks or something, you know. And it's inappropriate
- 6:33Speaker 7: because it's a company, okay, baby? If you're listening, whoever
- 6:37Speaker 7: sent that in, no, she should not be wearing that.
- 6:39Speaker 7: If it's with you and your friends and your private.
- 6:41Speaker 3: Life, yes.
- 6:42Speaker 7: But it's inappropriate for her to go to your job,
- 6:45Speaker 7: a professional Halloween party, and be kind of dressed like that.
- 6:48Speaker 7: Who's she trying to have at your job looking at her?
- 6:50Speaker 6: You know what she looks like.
- 6:51Speaker 7: He ain't got to wear that for you at the
- 6:52Speaker 7: company party.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Well, first of all, who said it's a professional Halloween?
- 6:58Speaker 2: What's a professional Halloween party?
- 7:00Speaker 8: It's professional.
- 7:01Speaker 7: It's the people that you work there with. And if
- 7:03Speaker 7: you're told by the job, that's what I consider professional.
- 7:06Speaker 9: Okay.
- 7:06Speaker 7: Because what happens there is going to be talked about
- 7:08Speaker 7: at the office. You want people talking about your wife,
- 7:11Speaker 7: how she had that semi-see-through fear. you know, leotard on
- 7:14Speaker 7: for Halloween, that it can reflect negatively on him and
- 7:18Speaker 7: his job.
- 7:19Speaker 9: Okay. Fair enough.
- 7:20Speaker 2: Like, what is wrong with her?
- 7:21Speaker 6: What kind of wife is she?
- 7:22Speaker 7: Like, save that for your backyard Halloween. Like, what are
- 7:26Speaker 7: you trying to do?
- 7:27Speaker 6: That's the problem with today.
- 7:28Speaker 7: Everybody wants to be respected and treated as men and
- 7:31Speaker 7: women and kings and queens, but you.
- 7:33Speaker 6: Don't behave as such.
- 7:34Speaker 10: Okay.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Fair enough.
- 7:36Speaker 1: It's inappropriate.
- 7:37Speaker 6: You know, that's just, that's stupid.
- 7:39Speaker 4: She's just being stupid.
- 7:40Speaker 6: And if I was him, that costume would come amidst it.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So, yeah, so this guy's asked me a question.
- 7:47Speaker 1: He said his wife wants to dress as a sexy
- 7:50Speaker 1: cat for Halloween for the company Christmas or Halloween party
- 7:54Speaker 1: that they're going to.
- 7:55Speaker 2: He doesn't know if it's appropriate or not. He was
- 7:58Speaker 2: asking me.
- 7:58Speaker 1: Now, here's an interesting side note that somebody texted me.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Rome, maybe he's embarrassed of her in that costume.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Now, we're assuming he did say they have three kids
- 8:09Speaker 1: and she looks good.
- 8:10Speaker 2: So we're assuming she just looks.
- 8:12Speaker 1: Good enough to make that cat outfit.
- 8:14Speaker 2: Work, right? What made... Maybe she doesn't. I don't know.
- 8:18Speaker 2: Is that what you mean by that? Maybe he's embarrassed
- 8:20Speaker 2: of her in it?
- 8:21Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Good morning, Tom. What's going on?
- 8:24Speaker 3: Hey, what am I doing?
- 8:25Speaker 6: Hey, what's up?
- 8:26Speaker 4: I was talking about the situation with that guy's girl
- 8:28Speaker 4: dressing real.
- 8:29Speaker 10: Nice like that.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 7: Maybe he might get lucky and she'll go out and
- 8:33Speaker 7: get another fine girl like.
- 8:35Speaker 8: Her and he can take them both home.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Okay.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 8:39Speaker 10: All right.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Good morning. What's going on?
- 8:41Speaker 6: Hi, I'm calling to voice my opinion about Catwoman.
- 8:46Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 8:47Speaker 1: What do you think?
- 8:52Speaker 6: No, but I mean, I feel like like the guy said,
- 8:55Speaker 6: she's had three kids. If her body is still intact,
- 8:59Speaker 6: you know, and she wants to put on like a
- 9:01Speaker 6: little sexy outfit or something and go to the party.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I mean, what's the problem? They said, I'm sure the
- 9:07Speaker 6: same people seen Halle Berry as Catwoman. You know, it's
- 9:10Speaker 6: not like she's going to be around there purring and
- 9:13Speaker 6: crawling across the table. You know, I mean, which that
- 9:16Speaker 6: might be her thing, you know, and she might want
- 9:19Speaker 6: to do it. But I also want to know what.
- 9:22Speaker 6: What company it is. Because, you know, if it's that
- 9:26Speaker 6: deja vu, then what's the point?
- 9:28Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 9:30Speaker 10: Well, yeah.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Is she going to a party at a Catholic church
- 9:34Speaker 1: or is she going to a party at some one
- 9:35Speaker 1: of these oil field companies where they all get wild?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 9:40Speaker 6: So that's what I'm saying. All I'm saying is I've
- 9:42Speaker 6: had two kids. And when I lose this stomach, you're
- 9:45Speaker 6: going to get a lot more calls about Catwoman than
- 9:48Speaker 6: on Halloween. Because I'm going to be Catwoman next year.
- 9:52Speaker 10: Just know that.
- 9:53Speaker 6: Miami's going to take care of me, and I'm going
- 9:56Speaker 6: to be Catwoman.
- 9:57Speaker 1: A guy texted me earlier about his Halloween costume. His
- 10:01Speaker 1: wife wants to go to the company Halloween party. in
- 10:04Speaker 1: a sexy cat outfit. Last woman that calls right is
- 10:07Speaker 1: going to be some see-through leotard with some cat ears,
- 10:10Speaker 1: you know, and she's probably smoking hot. But the guy says,
- 10:13Speaker 1: you know, his wife, they have three kids together. Apparently,
- 10:18Speaker 1: she's probably in great shape, so she wants to show
- 10:20Speaker 1: it off, and Halloween gives her the opportunity to show.
- 10:23Speaker 2: It off, doesn't it?
- 10:25Speaker 1: Why does that not give her the one opportunity to
- 10:28Speaker 1: show it off without being, you know, criticized? But It
- 10:34Speaker 1: is the company party, so who knows? Hey, Rome, tell
- 10:38Speaker 1: that dumbass, let his wife do her thing. If they
- 10:40Speaker 1: all look at her, so what? Your wife's hot, and
- 10:44Speaker 1: as long as you're the only one with the catnip.
- 10:52Speaker 2: It's pretty funny.
- 10:54Speaker 1: But I will tell you, though, I mean, you know
- 10:56Speaker 1: the other women at your office are going to judge her.
- 10:58Speaker 1: They're going to talk behind her back the next day.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Unless she's really, really nice.
- 11:02Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 11:02Speaker 1: I don't know what kind of relationship you and the
- 11:04Speaker 1: wife have with the company.
- 11:06Speaker 2: So that all plays a little bit into it as well.
- 11:09Speaker 2: Good morning. How's it going on?
- 11:10Speaker 3: Romeo.
- 11:11Speaker 2: Yeah, what's up?
- 11:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I wanted to comment on what you were just
- 11:16Speaker 3: saying about the woman wearing that cat costume.
- 11:20Speaker 2: Yeah, the sexy whatever. Okay.
- 11:25Speaker 3: My wife has three kids, too. And if my wife
- 11:27Speaker 3: looks as well as she does, I'd be proud to
- 11:32Speaker 3: take her. You know why? Because at the end of
- 11:36Speaker 3: the night, who's taking her home?
- 11:39Speaker 5: I am.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Well, I don't know. Well, this is a stuffed situation.
- 11:43Speaker 1: I don't know if he's being jealous because his wife
- 11:46Speaker 1: is sexy or if it's the company thing. Do you
- 11:50Speaker 1: want your wife looking sexy at a company event?
- 11:56Speaker 3: Yes, but I mean, if he's jealous, that's a different thing.
- 12:01Speaker 3: I mean, if everything's good and he's married, why worry
- 12:06Speaker 3: about it?
- 12:06Speaker 2: You know, and you're right.
- 12:07Speaker 1: What's the difference between wearing a sexy costume versus some
- 12:13Speaker 1: woman dressing just sexy in a dress for a regular party?
- 12:17Speaker 2: You know what?
- 12:20Speaker 1: I think you might have brought something up that I
- 12:22Speaker 1: hung up on, but I think that might be the point.
- 12:26Speaker 1: These women today dress sexy when they go to a party.
- 12:30Speaker 1: What's the difference between a sexy costume and a sexy outfit?
- 12:36Speaker 1: Except the costume fits a little more to the occasion.
- 12:40Speaker 2: And the outfit might be a little inappropriate. Yeah, what
- 12:44Speaker 2: about that? And Jay is back.
- 12:47Speaker 1: He is the main man from the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce,
- 12:50Speaker 1: Kern County's Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Dia de los Muertes
- 12:54Speaker 1: is coming. It's the 16th annual. Jay, what's going on?
- 12:57Speaker 10: Good morning.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Good morning.
- 12:59Speaker 8: Good morning.
- 12:59Speaker 10: It's good. It's good.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Everything's good, man.
- 13:02Speaker 5: Yeah, it's our 16th año día de los muertos, and
- 13:04Speaker 5: so 16 years already gone by.
- 13:06Speaker 2: The most fun.
- 13:07Speaker 1: It really is a great event. Now, this year it's
- 13:09Speaker 1: going on at Stramler Park.
- 13:10Speaker 10: Yes.
- 13:11Speaker 2: Sunday, November 8th from 2 to 7 p.m.
- 13:15Speaker 6: Yes.
- 13:15Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 13:17Speaker 5: We have, again, wonderful entertainment, obviously mariachi, foco rico dancing,
- 13:23Speaker 5: but also the highlight of all of it is the altares, right?
- 13:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:27Speaker 10: The altares. the ofrendas.
- 13:29Speaker 5: And so, you know, Bakersfield shows up and shows out
- 13:33Speaker 5: and they do such an amazing job.
- 13:35Speaker 10: Kern County, um, uh, decorating their altar.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Oh yeah. So amazing.
- 13:41Speaker 5: Um, you know, and just, uh, really, really, uh, putting
- 13:45Speaker 5: a lot of emphasis on, you know, their loved ones
- 13:47Speaker 5: and what they like to do and.
- 13:49Speaker 10: Their hobbies and stuff like that. So, you know, they
- 13:51Speaker 10: go all out.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Oh, they go all out.
- 13:53Speaker 1: One time I seen a Harley Davidson in one. I
- 13:55Speaker 1: seen there's some, been some crazy, just crazy, crazy things
- 14:00Speaker 1: that they do and how far they will go for
- 14:02Speaker 1: the loved ones to show up.
- 14:03Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, a couple of folks walked into the
- 14:06Speaker 5: office the other day, Romeo, and, you know, they had
- 14:09Speaker 5: someone pass away tragically, unfortunately, during the beginning of the year.
- 14:14Speaker 5: But they felt that this celebration of life and this
- 14:18Speaker 5: event was really going to not only help them deal
- 14:22Speaker 5: and cope with the loved one and their death, but
- 14:25Speaker 5: they're going to let their story be known and told
- 14:29Speaker 5: through the ofrendas and the offerings that they put in
- 14:31Speaker 5: place on the altar. And then also get to mingle
- 14:35Speaker 5: and network and talk about the loved one with other folks.
- 14:39Speaker 5: So I think that's really neat. You know, it's like
- 14:40Speaker 5: a little bit of I was talking to some of
- 14:42Speaker 5: the folks that walked in. I was like, it's a
- 14:44Speaker 5: little bit of therapy, you know.
- 14:46Speaker 10: Well, yeah, it is.
- 14:47Speaker 1: It is because you– and if you've ever gone, anybody,
- 14:50Speaker 1: if you've ever gone, you know this. You go out
- 14:52Speaker 1: there and there are people you may not even know.
- 14:54Speaker 1: But for people to tell you about their loved ones
- 14:56Speaker 1: that have passed away– In a positive way.
- 14:59Speaker 2: We're not all.
- 15:00Speaker 1: Mourning in a church. We're not all mourning at a gravesite.
- 15:03Speaker 1: We're hanging out. We're having a good time.
- 15:05Speaker 2: We're laughing. They're playing music.
- 15:07Speaker 1: And they get to tell you their story from their
- 15:11Speaker 1: perspective of their loved ones in a positive way.
- 15:14Speaker 2: Absolutely. In a fun way.
- 15:16Speaker 5: And what I like about it as well is that
- 15:18Speaker 5: they exchange numbers and they get to talk to each
- 15:22Speaker 5: other throughout the year.
- 15:23Speaker 10: They become friends. And so I think that's really neat.
- 15:25Speaker 10: to see out there.
- 15:26Speaker 5: But, you know, above the Altarez and out there in
- 15:30Speaker 5: the camaraderie, you know, we have the, we have food,
- 15:33Speaker 5: the refreshments, adult beverages. We have the Aztec blessing. You know,
- 15:39Speaker 5: we have the traditional Aztec dancers out there. So, It's
- 15:42Speaker 5: just a really great family-friendly event that we've been putting
- 15:46Speaker 5: on for 16 years, and it's going to be at
- 15:49Speaker 5: Stramler Park this year. We did move the venue to
- 15:53Speaker 5: Stramler Park because there's this certain area towards the back
- 15:56Speaker 5: that we're going to put all the optimists, so it's
- 15:58Speaker 5: going to be really neat, lit up, candles.
- 16:01Speaker 10: Lights and things like that. So just making a little
- 16:03Speaker 10: bit of change to the venue.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Well, a little.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Smaller venue puts it a little tighter, a little more cozier,
- 16:08Speaker 1: so to speak.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 16:09Speaker 2: For lack of a better term, just a cozier event.
- 16:11Speaker 5: Dia de los Muertos is November 2nd, right? And so
- 16:14Speaker 5: we wanted to make sure, like, it was their loved ones.
- 16:17Speaker 10: Like, they got to... Folks got to stay home and
- 16:19Speaker 10: make their own ofrendas at home.
- 16:20Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:22Speaker 6: And.
- 16:22Speaker 10: Or visit the cemetery. So we're the week after. But,
- 16:25Speaker 10: you know, it's never.
- 16:27Speaker 5: You know, like I say, we celebrate... our loved ones
- 16:30Speaker 5: all year long. We don't forget them, and we want
- 16:34Speaker 5: to make sure that, you know, we have this event.
- 16:37Speaker 10: And, yeah, it's going to be Stramler Park.
- 16:39Speaker 2: Stramler Park, November 8th. So all of you are going
- 16:41Speaker 2: to be a Snoop Dogg.
- 16:43Speaker 1: On Saturday night and be hungover at Stramler Park on Sunday.
- 16:47Speaker 10: Hey, but it doesn't start until 2.
- 16:49Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, 2. So you can go get your menudo pozole.
- 16:53Speaker 5: And you can come and then you can eat more
- 16:55Speaker 5: and you can enjoy the festivities, have some adult beverages
- 16:58Speaker 5: and some micheladas out there.
- 17:00Speaker 11: Where do they get the tickets at, Jay? You can
- 17:04Speaker 11: go to kchcc.org. Kchcc.org. It's right on the very top
- 17:09Speaker 11: of our website. You just click on there. It's $ 5
- 17:12Speaker 11: for an individual ticket. It's $ 20.
- 17:17Speaker 5: $ 20 for a five-pack, a family pack of five.
- 17:22Speaker 10: So you're getting one free.
- 17:23Speaker 5: So it's very affordable to come to this event and,
- 17:27Speaker 5: you know, all the entertainment.
- 17:28Speaker 10: We have a kids camp.
- 17:29Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 17:30Speaker 5: The kids will, you know, they'll get their face painted
- 17:33Speaker 5: for free. So cool. The calaveras that they can go
- 17:38Speaker 5: out there and, you know, paint with frosting.
- 17:40Speaker 2: So much fun.
- 17:41Speaker 5: Lots of activities to do for the kids. So there's
- 17:43Speaker 5: something for everyone to do of all ages. And so, yeah,
- 17:46Speaker 5: come on down.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Yeah, bring your chairs, hang out, spend a couple of
- 17:49Speaker 1: hours just enjoying everything, enjoying the festivities. Schrammler Park, Sunday,
- 17:53Speaker 1: November 8th from 2 to 7 p.m. Go to kchcc.org
- 17:58Speaker 1: to get more details, get your tickets. And the Kern
- 18:01Speaker 1: County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been doing some amazing
- 18:04Speaker 1: things in the community for.
- 18:08Speaker 1: And Jay is here because he's the one that puts
- 18:10Speaker 1: it all together and stresses out about it and makes
- 18:12Speaker 1: sure that everything goes off without a hitch.
- 18:15Speaker 5: Well, you know, thank you for that introduction.
- 18:17Speaker 10: But, you know, it takes a team. It takes a village.
- 18:19Speaker 10: We have 300 plus volunteers.
- 18:21Speaker 3: We have a great board.
- 18:23Speaker 10: Yeah, you have a.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Great group of people out there who get everything done.
- 18:26Speaker 5: Yeah, we have a great group of folks out there
- 18:29Speaker 5: that are helping us. So yeah, our 16th annual Dia
- 18:30Speaker 5: de los Muertos is Sunday, November 8th, 2 to 7
- 18:34Speaker 5: at Stramler Park, 3805 Chester Avenue. And so we're looking
- 18:39Speaker 5: forward to celebrating life.
- 18:42Speaker 1: I'm just going to say this. If you don't know
- 18:43Speaker 1: where Stradler Park is by now, phone a friend. Does
- 18:45Speaker 1: everybody know where.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Stradler Park is?
- 18:48Speaker 5: Well, I didn't want everybody to get confused and go
- 18:50Speaker 5: to the Kern County Fairgrounds this year. We're just making
- 18:52Speaker 5: a little pivot.
- 18:54Speaker 10: A little more intimate.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yeah, it is intimate.
- 18:57Speaker 5: A little intimate at Stradler Park. And so we wanted
- 18:59Speaker 5: to make that altar area, that is a little more.
- 19:03Speaker 5: intimate and bring a lot of more lighting and candles
- 19:08Speaker 5: in that area.
- 19:08Speaker 10: So it's going to be really cool.
- 19:09Speaker 5: We have lots of food vendors already signed up. It's
- 19:13Speaker 5: too late to become a food vendor. You can be
- 19:15Speaker 5: a vendor. You can call our office, 633-5495. You can
- 19:20Speaker 5: promote your products and services out there, get a booth.
- 19:24Speaker 5: If you're a nonprofit or you're a business, you can
- 19:26Speaker 5: go out there and sell merchant merch. And so, yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 5: we anticipate a really good crowd and This is the
- 19:33Speaker 5: week after Dia de los Muertos. So, you know, we felt,
- 19:36Speaker 5: you know, Dia de los Muertos, if you go to
- 19:38Speaker 5: the cemetery or you're at home, you can make your
- 19:40Speaker 5: own ofrenda at home.
- 19:41Speaker 10: And so, yeah, we're going to celebrate the week after,
- 19:44Speaker 10: November 8th.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I know that we have a huge Hispanic population. here
- 19:50Speaker 1: in Bakersfield. This is not just for Hispanic. Absolutely not.
- 19:55Speaker 1: If you have never been to something like this, it's
- 19:59Speaker 1: a big party. You get to see some amazing altars
- 20:02Speaker 1: that people put a lot of hard work into to
- 20:05Speaker 1: represent their loved ones and show who they are.
- 20:08Speaker 2: Great food.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Drinks and you want to bring the kids out and
- 20:12Speaker 1: experience some culture in a different way that you may
- 20:15Speaker 1: have never seen before.
- 20:16Speaker 2: It's, um, it's absolutely amazing.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I just don't want people, I want you to understand
- 20:20Speaker 1: if you're looking for something to do on just a
- 20:21Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon here, come out and it's really inexpensive.
- 20:25Speaker 2: So yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 10: Yeah. Thank you for that.
- 20:28Speaker 5: You know, this is one of our biggest events, but
- 20:31Speaker 5: also I want everyone to know that The prices are affordable,
- 20:34Speaker 5: $ 5 for an individual, a 20-pack family pack for five,
- 20:39Speaker 5: so you can.
- 20:39Speaker 10: Get them free.
- 20:41Speaker 5: But any of the proceeds that we raise, Romeo, and
- 20:43Speaker 5: I talk about our Small Business Academy a lot on here.
- 20:46Speaker 10: Thank you for that.
- 20:47Speaker 5: You know, so if we fall short of money and
- 20:49Speaker 5: we have more students sign up, entrepreneurs and business owners,
- 20:53Speaker 5: you know, we take some of the proceeds from this there.
- 20:56Speaker 5: And then also we also allocate a little bit of
- 20:59Speaker 5: this money towards our scholarships.
- 21:00Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:01Speaker 5: So it's a good it's a great event, but also
- 21:05Speaker 5: the proceeds go to a great cause as well.
- 21:07Speaker 1: And you guys should check it out. I mean, it's nothing.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It's it's a great time. It really is a fun time.
- 21:12Speaker 1: I can't express how much fun I have out there.
- 21:14Speaker 1: just hanging out you just hang out for a few.
- 21:16Speaker 5: Hours family family and family and friends and just lots
- 21:20Speaker 5: of great things out there to do and you know
- 21:23Speaker 5: we really emphasize uh the altarez section of it and
- 21:28Speaker 5: people they get to know each other and uh you
- 21:31Speaker 5: know their loved ones have passed away but they have
- 21:33Speaker 5: stories out there but you know great entertainment um i
- 21:37Speaker 5: think we our headliner this year is a Rocio Isu Senora.
- 21:42Speaker 5: And so she's going to be our headliner. But also
- 21:45Speaker 5: we have, you know, Mariachi, Balet Procórico Aztecalia is going
- 21:49Speaker 5: to be out there.
- 21:50Speaker 10: And Aztec Blessing and all this.
- 21:52Speaker 2: That is really cool to watch, by the way.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it is.
- 21:55Speaker 5: And so, yeah, just come on out on November 8th.
- 22:00Speaker 1: That's a Sunday. Stramler Park, 2 to 7 p.m. If
- 22:03Speaker 1: you want any more information about it, go to kchcc.org.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Or you can give them a call at 633-5495.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:12Speaker 5: And so if you want to get an altar, we're
- 22:14Speaker 5: still have spaces for those altars. And that'll end this
- 22:19Speaker 5: Friday and on Monday coming up.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Hey, but you can't half-ass it.
- 22:24Speaker 1: These people who do these altars do an amazing, incredible job.
- 22:30Speaker 1: I can't even explain to you. You have to see
- 22:32Speaker 1: how they represent their people. Family members.
- 22:35Speaker 10: Absolutely.
- 22:35Speaker 2: I can't even explain it to you.
- 22:36Speaker 3: You have to go look.
- 22:37Speaker 5: So Kern County, man, you guys come out and show
- 22:40Speaker 5: up and you do it nice.
- 22:43Speaker 2: All right, Jay. All right. A couple of things I
- 22:46Speaker 2: want to get into. Trunk or treating, which we'll talk
- 22:49Speaker 2: about here in just a minute.
- 22:50Speaker 1: But I've been seeing this thing called Christmas Carol and Cocktails.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Does anybody know anything about this? Somebody sent it to me.
- 23:03Speaker 1: And then I looked it up, and it's something in
- 23:05Speaker 1: Bakersfield that's going on in Bakersfield. And from what I understand,
- 23:09Speaker 1: I know a little bit about it, like I read
- 23:10Speaker 1: about it. It's something, it's like an interactive experience with
- 23:18Speaker 1: the Scrooge. You remember Scrooge? You guys all know Scrooge?
- 23:21Speaker 2: On Christmas Carol, that old, is it who, I don't, Dickinson?
- 23:25Speaker 2: Is that who wrote it? Someone like that? And apparently
- 23:30Speaker 2: they have.
- 23:31Speaker 1: that go along with this interactive experience. And it's going
- 23:35Speaker 1: to be in Bakersfield sometime in December. And I was
- 23:38Speaker 1: thinking about going to it, getting some tickets for it.
- 23:42Speaker 2: It's not very expensive. It's actually very reasonable, but I
- 23:46Speaker 2: don't know what it is.
- 23:46Speaker 1: I don't know if it's very reasonable because it's janky
- 23:51Speaker 1: or if it's just.
- 23:53Speaker 10: Cool.
- 23:54Speaker 2: It looks really cool.
- 23:56Speaker 1: And But it's like four drinks that go with four
- 23:59Speaker 1: different acts of the whatever the experience.
- 24:01Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 24:02Speaker 1: It's not necessarily a play from what I understand or
- 24:06Speaker 1: it's not necessarily.
- 24:07Speaker 2: I don't know what it is.
- 24:09Speaker 1: And I'm guessing it's been the bigger spill before. I
- 24:12Speaker 1: just know nothing about it till somebody sent it to
- 24:14Speaker 1: me yesterday and said, hey, you should go check this out.
- 24:19Speaker 1: And does anybody know what it is? Is anybody listening
- 24:23Speaker 1: know what I'm talking about? Have you been to it before?
- 24:27Speaker 2: Is it really cool? Because it looks cool. It looks fun.
- 24:31Speaker 1: But they have different showings. They have some... I mean,
- 24:35Speaker 1: they even have an afternoon show. I think it's a
- 24:36Speaker 1: Friday and Saturday they're doing it. And they... Not this
- 24:40Speaker 1: Friday and Saturday, but Friday and Saturday in December. But
- 24:44Speaker 1: they have all the... They have like three or four
- 24:45Speaker 1: different times that they do it.
- 24:47Speaker 2: And I was just... I was reading about it, but
- 24:49Speaker 2: I just didn't know if anybody's ever gone to it.
- 24:51Speaker 2: I've never been... I was talking to Jay... About it yesterday.
- 24:55Speaker 1: And Jay was saying that he didn't know anything about it,
- 24:57Speaker 1: but there's these pop-up shows that come into Bakersfield. He
- 25:03Speaker 1: went and saw one, something with violins and rap music
- 25:08Speaker 1: or something that was really cool, he said.
- 25:11Speaker 2: But, you know, I stick to the basics. I mean,
- 25:14Speaker 2: I stick to the originals.
- 25:15Speaker 1: I either go to RoboBank, I mean, to Dignity Health,
- 25:18Speaker 1: the arena, Civic Center, or I go to the theater
- 25:22Speaker 1: out there. I never really venture too far off from
- 25:26Speaker 1: those places when.
- 25:27Speaker 2: I see stuff. Or the Fox. I go to the Fox.
- 25:31Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't know if anybody's... Maybe I'm the
- 25:34Speaker 1: only one that knows about it.
- 25:35Speaker 6: I don't know.
- 25:36Speaker 2: Well, you got to know about it. Somebody should have
- 25:38Speaker 2: gone to it, right? Last year?
- 25:40Speaker 1: The Christmas Carol one you're talking about has kind of
- 25:43Speaker 1: the same concept as what I sent you, but it's
- 25:45Speaker 1: only four drinks. I don't believe there's any food involved. Yeah,
- 25:48Speaker 1: I don't think there's any food involved, which is fine.
- 25:51Speaker 1: It's only, I think what I read about it, it's
- 25:53Speaker 1: only 90 minutes. But I'm just wondering if it's janky
- 25:56Speaker 1: or is it really.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Cool, you know? That's all.
- 25:59Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 25:59Speaker 2: It looks fun. It looks great. I don't know. I
- 26:01Speaker 2: don't really think about it. What's going on?
- 26:04Speaker 3: Hey, Rome.
- 26:05Speaker 2: What up, man?
- 26:06Speaker 8: Hey, that Fork and Frills, my daughter goes to that.
- 26:09Speaker 6: Uh-huh.
- 26:10Speaker 3: And those tickets are like $ 250 plus. And what it is,
- 26:14Speaker 3: it's like they show you a film, like she's been
- 26:16Speaker 3: to the Princess and the Frog one.
- 26:19Speaker 8: And it's like a five-course meal, and it's based.
- 26:23Speaker 3: On the film that you're watching.
- 26:26Speaker 2: Oh, I see now.
- 26:30Speaker 8: It's really good.
- 26:30Speaker 3: They had Ratatouille once. They had, you know, other films,
- 26:34Speaker 3: and it's a five-course meal, though. They said it's really,
- 26:38Speaker 3: really good.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Now, look, what I got said, now what you just
- 26:43Speaker 1: said to me makes a lot of sense. What somebody
- 26:45Speaker 1: sent me from an Instagram post Shows me nothing of that.
- 26:50Speaker 2: Gives me no information.
- 26:52Speaker 3: No, but she highly recommends it, but it does sell
- 26:57Speaker 3: out like within hours.
- 26:58Speaker 7: She goes to the LA one.
- 27:00Speaker 2: And how much is it?
- 27:01Speaker 3: That's where she goes.
- 27:02Speaker 8: It's like $ 250 plus.
- 27:04Speaker 7: Dang.
- 27:04Speaker 1: No, this one I'm looking at, it's only like $ 70
- 27:08Speaker 1: for front row or something.
- 27:10Speaker 8: Oh, I don't know.
- 27:12Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah.
- 27:13Speaker 7: If you go to the LA one, it's like underground
- 27:15Speaker 7: kind of stuff.
- 27:17Speaker 3: But I highly recommend it.
- 27:18Speaker 8: All right.
- 27:19Speaker 2: All right.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Well, thanks.
- 27:20Speaker 2: I appreciate the phone call.
- 27:21Speaker 5: Later, man.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Yeah, but what I'm saying is every time I see
- 27:25Speaker 1: an ad, everybody wants, you know, you guys make these
- 27:28Speaker 1: flyers for your events and then you put them on Instagram.
- 27:32Speaker 1: And I know they're all AI because they all look
- 27:34Speaker 1: the same. And you can't read them. You have no clue.
- 27:39Speaker 1: You can't find a date. You can't find a location.
- 27:42Speaker 1: You guys, your flyers are stupid.
- 27:44Speaker 2: Okay.
- 27:44Speaker 1: You guys need to make them more simplistic. All you
- 27:47Speaker 1: need is date time and what's going on. I don't
- 27:49Speaker 1: know why you guys use this AI stuff. It just
- 27:53Speaker 1: convolutes everything and nobody can see anything. And then I
- 27:56Speaker 1: got to click and I can't find it.
- 27:58Speaker 2: And like, so I just don't know.
- 28:00Speaker 1: Like what that guy just said to me is way
- 28:02Speaker 1: different than the Instagram post. Somebody sent me about that
- 28:05Speaker 1: fork in film. Um, Rome, it's not like fork and
- 28:09Speaker 1: film where you get to eat and drink during the movie.
- 28:12Speaker 1: It's only drinks that are related to the movie. You
- 28:15Speaker 1: only get four drinks, four different scenes while you watch
- 28:18Speaker 1: the movie. So you'll basically watch a whole movie and
- 28:21Speaker 1: then certain drinks will relate to certain scenes. And that's
- 28:24Speaker 1: what this Christmas Carol thing I saw, supposedly in Bakersfield,
- 28:30Speaker 1: or is in Bakersfield, but it's an interactive experience. It's
- 28:33Speaker 1: not actually just watching a movie on a screen, I
- 28:36Speaker 1: don't think.
- 28:37Speaker 2: So that's why I'm wondering. Let's see.
- 28:40Speaker 1: Sometimes there are pop-ups at the Padre Hotel for the
- 28:44Speaker 1: dining and drinking experience.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I just don't know what it is. I just
- 28:47Speaker 2: don't know if anyone's been to it. Is it worth it?
- 28:48Speaker 1: Because I'd kind of like to go see it. It
- 28:50Speaker 1: sounds pretty cool. I like Christmas Carol. I was trying
- 28:54Speaker 1: to read an ad. I was looking at this ad
- 28:56Speaker 1: on Instagram. Somebody sent me. Because I'm trying to find
- 29:00Speaker 1: out about this event that's coming to Bakersfield, but it
- 29:02Speaker 1: don't really give you a whole lot of explanations. And
- 29:06Speaker 1: then you see these ads, these flyers you guys make
- 29:08Speaker 1: on Instagram or TikTok, and they're just a mess. Things
- 29:15Speaker 1: are really, really small. You can't read everything. You're trying
- 29:18Speaker 1: to fit too much on a page. So I got this.
- 29:20Speaker 1: Bakersfield is the AI crap, Rome. LA clearly showed you
- 29:24Speaker 1: everything that you experienced, that guy experienced. Well, yeah, it
- 29:28Speaker 1: was pictures, but it really didn't explain it.
- 29:31Speaker 2: Don't be a boomer, Rome.
- 29:33Speaker 1: I like how try to take a shot at me
- 29:35Speaker 1: because the way you guys do things is stupid and
- 29:39Speaker 1: it's not clear And it's not understandable. And it's more
- 29:42Speaker 1: complex than complicated. But I'm the guy that's wrong. I'm
- 29:48Speaker 1: the one that needs to learn your stupid ways because, yeah,
- 29:53Speaker 1: you guys are idiot. Your ways are not right. Some
- 29:56Speaker 1: of the stuff you do is right. Most of the
- 29:58Speaker 1: stuff you do is stupid. Okay, let's be honest. You know,
- 30:03Speaker 1: when you.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Make a flyer, put the place, the time, the cost
- 30:08Speaker 2: to get in, and the venue. Oh, I said the
- 30:10Speaker 2: place right off first. That's all you need.
- 30:13Speaker 1: If you're throwing a barbecue contest in Bakersfield and I
- 30:16Speaker 1: look at your flyer on social media and the first
- 30:19Speaker 1: place I look at is where is it going to
- 30:21Speaker 1: be and it's not on there, I'm not going.
- 30:24Speaker 2: And that's on you, not me. You're the one that
- 30:27Speaker 2: did it wrong.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Morning, morning, Romeo.
- 30:29Speaker 2: Hey, what up?
- 30:30Speaker 3: Speaker 2 I don't, I don't, I get what you're saying.
- 30:32Speaker 8: These guys aren't going to understand it.
- 30:34Speaker 3: Back in my day, I think, I think we're around
- 30:36Speaker 3: the same age, but we, I used, we, we used
- 30:39Speaker 3: to do a little party that we were the ones
- 30:40Speaker 3: making the flyers.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:43Speaker 1: Right?
- 30:43Speaker 8: I am.
- 30:44Speaker 3: And you got to have the location and the date first. Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 3: And then everything else was decorated. You get some color
- 30:52Speaker 3: on it.
- 30:52Speaker 8: You take it to Kinko's.
- 30:54Speaker 3: You take it to Kinko's, bro. I was the flyer guy.
- 30:58Speaker 3: I was the flyer guy. I knew the whole steps
- 31:02Speaker 3: and what to catch people. You put a price. If
- 31:04Speaker 3: there was a little price to get in, $ 5 a head.
- 31:07Speaker 3: If it was a group, it.
- 31:09Speaker 8: Would be $ 10 or $ 15.
- 31:10Speaker 3: You know what I mean? So these guys, they don't
- 31:14Speaker 3: know how to catch eyes yet. You know, they let
- 31:16Speaker 3: AI do it for them. But I mean, I get it.
- 31:18Speaker 3: You know, you want to do AI and make your
- 31:20Speaker 3: thing pop.
- 31:21Speaker 8: Cool, but get the main things on there first.
- 31:24Speaker 10: I know.
- 31:25Speaker 1: I'm glad somebody else understands what I'm talking about.
- 31:27Speaker 3: All right.
- 31:28Speaker 10: All right, brother.
- 31:29Speaker 1: And just so we know, we're not wrong. We're the
- 31:32Speaker 1: ones that are right. Hey, Rome, nowadays you have to
- 31:34Speaker 1: scan a QR code. Yeah, the QR codes are better.
- 31:37Speaker 1: The QR codes, yes, I agree with you. The QR
- 31:40Speaker 1: codes are not bad.
- 31:43Speaker 2: I don't mind that. I just scanned a QR code,
- 31:45Speaker 2: although for a menu last night.
- 31:48Speaker 6: But I mean.
- 31:49Speaker 2: These AI flyers are just so dang ugly. And you
- 31:53Speaker 2: guys all use them. Everybody in Bakersfield uses them for
- 31:55Speaker 2: your event. And they're terrible. They're just terrible. And you can't.
- 32:01Speaker 1: They're so hard to understand what you guys are doing.
- 32:05Speaker 1: Everybody wants to be cool. How about you just put
- 32:06Speaker 1: the name, address, and what you're selling me?
- 32:09Speaker 2: And I'll be there.
- 32:10Speaker 1: It's that simple. Rome, these AI flyers are so ugly
- 32:13Speaker 1: and too much going on. This is coming from a millennial.
- 32:16Speaker 2: You're right. You're right. And all of them do it.
- 32:19Speaker 1: All of you charity events, all of you, you know, groups,
- 32:25Speaker 1: school events, you guys are always, you want to sell something,
- 32:29Speaker 1: but you never get my money because every time I
- 32:31Speaker 1: look at your flyer, I can't see it. It doesn't
- 32:33Speaker 1: tell me where it's at. It doesn't tell me what time.
- 32:37Speaker 1: And they all look exactly the same. Have you guys
- 32:40Speaker 1: noticed that? For every event in Bakersfield, the flyer that
- 32:43Speaker 1: you see on social media all looks exactly the same.
- 32:48Speaker 2: So, Hey, but it must be working. It must be working.
- 32:51Speaker 2: What did you send me here? Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I was hoping that you could help me out with something.
- 32:56Speaker 1: So last weekend, I had to work. My wife and
- 33:00Speaker 1: my mother-in-law took my seven-year-old son and my eight-year-old daughter
- 33:07Speaker 1: to like three Trunk or Treats.
- 33:10Speaker 2: So they went out trick-or-treating.
- 33:12Speaker 1: I was talking to my kids last night because I'm
- 33:14Speaker 1: excited about Saturday and taking them around the neighborhood to
- 33:17Speaker 1: do some trick-or-treating. I asked them if they're ready to go,
- 33:19Speaker 1: if they're excited. Rome, they said they don't want to go.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Grandma and mom already took us trick-or-treating. So I told
- 33:29Speaker 1: my wife about this, Romeo. She said that the kids
- 33:33Speaker 1: don't need to go if they don't want to, but
- 33:35Speaker 1: I had to work. I didn't get to go with them,
- 33:38Speaker 1: and I want to take them out trick-or-treating, Rome.
- 33:41Speaker 2: I just don't know what to do. My wife doesn't
- 33:43Speaker 2: seem to be on my side. Um, yeah, the trunk
- 33:50Speaker 2: or treat is really a lot of people are.
- 33:52Speaker 1: I heard some people say that when we did our
- 33:56Speaker 1: when we were at MB2 that their kids won't be
- 33:59Speaker 1: trick or treating on Saturday either because, well, they already
- 34:02Speaker 1: went to.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Trunk or treat. Um, you just make them go. What
- 34:07Speaker 2: do you say? You just make them go. That's all.
- 34:12Speaker 2: I mean, that's all you can do. Just tell them,
- 34:15Speaker 2: we're going trick-or-treating. Bottom line, get on your costumes. Let's roll.
- 34:19Speaker 2: Tell your wife, let's go. You know, you can't, no.
- 34:25Speaker 2: You'll have fun once you're out there. Here's the thing
- 34:28Speaker 2: about kids. Kids are stupid.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Kids don't know how much fun they could have until
- 34:34Speaker 1: they actually get out there and have that much fun.
- 34:37Speaker 2: So once you get out there.
- 34:38Speaker 1: With all the other kids and all the other costumes
- 34:40Speaker 1: and everybody else running around, having a good time, Yeah,
- 34:44Speaker 1: so you just make them go.
- 34:47Speaker 2: That's the only option. Make them go, okay? Tell your
- 34:53Speaker 2: wife that she needs to go, too. Make her go, too.
- 34:56Speaker 2: I mean, put your foot down, man. It's your house.
- 34:58Speaker 9: Hey, Rome.
- 34:59Speaker 2: Let's see here.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I said that these kids don't want to go trick-or-treating. Hey, Rome,
- 35:03Speaker 1: last year, me and my wife made 30 trick-or-treat bags with.
- 35:07Speaker 2: Toys and candy.
- 35:10Speaker 1: We ended up only giving out three last year to
- 35:14Speaker 1: trick-or-treaters and another three to my pest control because we
- 35:18Speaker 1: had so much left over this year. We're buying one
- 35:21Speaker 1: small bag of candy. Trunk-or-treat killed it for us.
- 35:28Speaker 2: Yeah, trunk-or-treat be taking customers. You know, they do. I
- 35:31Speaker 2: get it, but no. You don't want to run out
- 35:33Speaker 2: of candy. Don't do that. I mean, just... Look, man,
- 35:39Speaker 2: if you can afford it, take the L, okay? You
- 35:41Speaker 2: can always give away the candy, man. Don't do that.
- 35:43Speaker 2: Give them to the kids in the neighborhood. All right, 8-4-2-5-4-7-7. Yeah,
- 35:48Speaker 2: somebody was telling me they don't like trunk or treat.
- 35:50Speaker 2: They think it's wrong, but I don't think it's wrong.
- 35:53Speaker 1: As long as you go out, as long as you
- 35:57Speaker 1: still go out on Halloween, I mean, that's the thing.
- 35:59Speaker 2: A lot of the, a lot of, what a lot.
- 36:02Speaker 1: Of these people don't understand for these kids don't understand,
- 36:06Speaker 1: and it's because kids are stupid.
- 36:08Speaker 2: The people want to give you candy. They want you
- 36:12Speaker 2: to come to their house and they want to give
- 36:14Speaker 2: you candy. They want to see your costumes.
- 36:17Speaker 1: They want you to roll in because they're hanging out
- 36:21Speaker 1: too in the neighborhood.
- 36:23Speaker 2: They want you to come.
- 36:25Speaker 1: You know?
- 36:27Speaker 2: So go.
- 36:28Speaker 1: You have a responsibility as a trick-or-treater to be out trick-or-treating.
- 36:31Speaker 2: I'm sorry. You just do.
- 36:32Speaker 7: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7-7.
- 36:36Speaker 2: Yo, Rome, my husband said.
- 36:37Speaker 1: We're not doing anything for Halloween this year because candy's
- 36:40Speaker 1: too expensive, and our kids.
- 36:42Speaker 7: Are all grown.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Well, sounds like you've got a terrible husband. Might be
- 36:46Speaker 1: time to divorce that guy.
- 36:48Speaker 2: Oh, I agree, Rome. Make them kids.
- 36:50Speaker 1: Go, yeah, some guy said I guess he had to
- 36:52Speaker 1: work last weekend, and his mother-in-law and his wife took
- 36:55Speaker 1: his kids to trunk-or-treat. So I guess he's excited to
- 36:59Speaker 1: take his kids to Saturday trick-or-treating. Kids don't want to go.
- 37:03Speaker 1: They already did their trick-or-treating, apparently. So he's asking me
- 37:07Speaker 1: what to do.
- 37:08Speaker 2: Make him go. And his wife's not supporting him. What
- 37:10Speaker 2: kind of terrible wife do you have? Yeah, make him go.
- 37:14Speaker 2: You got to make him go.
- 37:17Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, it's projected to be pouring rain on Saturday.
- 37:24Speaker 1: His wife planned ahead, unfortunately. I don't care if it's
- 37:28Speaker 1: snowing outside.
- 37:29Speaker 2: It's Halloween. It's Halloween.
- 37:32Speaker 1: What kind of punk-ass kids are you raising that can't
- 37:36Speaker 1: go do some trick-or-treating.
- 37:38Speaker 2: In the rain?
- 37:40Speaker 1: Bruh, we used to just go play in the rain.
- 37:43Speaker 1: And you're telling me that they can't go trick-or-treating.
- 37:46Speaker 2: You lost your damn mind. Let me see.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I don't care if it's, I don't care if it's raining.
- 37:52Speaker 1: If you don't take your kids trick-or-treating in the rain,
- 37:55Speaker 1: you're a terrible parent.
- 37:56Speaker 2: All right, 8-4-2-5-4. Get them some vitamin C.
- 38:00Speaker 1: Bundle them up, everybody can be a snowman, get them
- 38:04Speaker 1: a big jacket, something, yeah, that's terrible, you guys are
- 38:08Speaker 1: terrible parents, you guys make the stupidest excuses for everything,
- 38:12Speaker 1: you moms and dads, because you're so lazy, and you
- 38:14Speaker 1: don't want to be, um, I guess I just had
- 38:19Speaker 1: great parents, who didn't mind being uncomfortable for the kids,
- 38:23Speaker 1: my mom and dad are just great parents, they did not,
- 38:26Speaker 1: it never occurred to them that, um, You know, they
- 38:31Speaker 1: come first on holidays. Never once occurred to them that
- 38:35Speaker 1: they should come before us kids.
- 38:38Speaker 2: You guys are terrible parents.
- 38:41Speaker 1: Oh, we're going to get a little wet. Oh, put
- 38:43Speaker 1: on your put on your Uggs or your rain boots
- 38:46Speaker 1: and go outside with your kids and take them trick
- 38:48Speaker 1: or treating. Hey, you have a cheese fan. Tell that
- 38:51Speaker 1: guy to find another wife.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Exactly. Come on, man.
- 38:56Speaker 1: You've got to get out. Yo, Rome, what'd you send
- 39:00Speaker 1: me here? Hey, Rome, we hit up both. Use leftover
- 39:05Speaker 1: candy from the trunk or treat for Halloween. I just
- 39:08Speaker 1: leave a bucket out because I take my kids out
- 39:11Speaker 1: and not going to lie.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Seven, ten, sometimes. Wait, what does it say? Oh, seven
- 39:18Speaker 2: out of ten. Someone takes the whole bucket.
- 39:22Speaker 1: But we have our shoes covered, ponchos and umbrellas ready
- 39:26Speaker 1: for Saturday if it rains.
- 39:27Speaker 2: I won't stop us. That's what I'm saying. That's a
- 39:30Speaker 2: good mom right there. That's a legitimate mom.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Your kid's happiness should come before yours if you're a
- 39:38Speaker 1: good parent. And if your kids are happy, you should
- 39:41Speaker 1: be happy. So, yeah, I guess, yeah, I don't understand
- 39:45Speaker 1: you people.
- 39:48Speaker 2: I really don't. Rain or shine. Snow, it don't matter.
- 39:52Speaker 2: My mom never.
- 39:53Speaker 1: Hesitated to take us kids, me and my brother and sister,
- 39:57Speaker 1: to something. Nothing ever stopped her. Hey, Rome, we're in,
- 40:02Speaker 1: let's see, we're in the SW, oh, Southwest. We run
- 40:06Speaker 1: out of candy every year. My kids go trick-or-treat and
- 40:09Speaker 1: give away the candy they don't want back to the trick-or-treaters.
- 40:13Speaker 2: Oh, that's a good idea. Yeah, I run out of
- 40:14Speaker 2: candy every year, too. Hey, Rome, for the past five years.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I've been taking my kids to Trunk or Treat or
- 40:22Speaker 1: to the BPD event. And my ex takes them on
- 40:27Speaker 1: Halloween nights. This way, it's not boring or too much
- 40:30Speaker 1: candy for the kids. And they always look forward to it. Yeah,
- 40:34Speaker 1: I'm okay with Trunk or Treat. I don't have a
- 40:35Speaker 1: problem with Trunk or Treating.
- 40:36Speaker 7: I mean.
- 40:37Speaker 1: customers away and I see, and your kid's lazy, but
- 40:40Speaker 1: I mean, they're the kids in the community. I just
- 40:44Speaker 1: think you should go out on Halloween night and go
- 40:48Speaker 1: trick or treating as well.
- 40:49Speaker 2: You should do both. Hey Rome. Yes, you're right. The
- 40:53Speaker 2: new generation sucks. Oh, I didn't say they sucked.
- 40:55Speaker 1: I just said, you know, parents are kind of lazy
- 40:58Speaker 1: and parents are a little selfish nowadays. They don't, their
- 41:01Speaker 1: kids don't come before everything. You know, I grew up
- 41:04Speaker 1: with parents where me and my brother and sister came
- 41:07Speaker 1: before everything. You know, and not in an entitlement way,
- 41:12Speaker 1: but in a way that our fun and us being
- 41:14Speaker 1: a kid came first.
- 41:16Speaker 2: And part of that is trick-or-treating. Hey, good morning, Rome.
- 41:19Speaker 1: These women won't take their kids trick-or-treating for any excuse.
- 41:24Speaker 2: But if they get invited to a Halloween party and
- 41:27Speaker 2: be hoeing... And we'll get to be a hoe. They
- 41:31Speaker 2: ain't gonna miss out. Well... That's what I said. Well,
- 41:34Speaker 2: what does it come to, you know?
- 41:37Speaker 6: Morning, Romeo. I'm on my way to work.
- 41:39Speaker 10: What's up?
- 41:40Speaker 6: I was calling because I heard about taking your kids
- 41:43Speaker 6: out to trick-or-treating.
- 41:44Speaker 4: I totally agree with you.
- 41:46Speaker 8: I just think that maybe the new generation, maybe because
- 41:50Speaker 8: you're not supposed to say those things, but no, the
- 41:54Speaker 8: new generation of parents suck.
- 41:56Speaker 7: They just don't want to take their kids trick-or-treating.
- 41:59Speaker 6: They're probably the ones that maybe grew up where their
- 42:01Speaker 6: parents didn't take them trick-or-treating, so that's why they don't
- 42:03Speaker 6: take their kids trick-or-treating.
- 42:05Speaker 1: No. What it is, what it is, is the newer
- 42:08Speaker 1: generation of parents are a bunch of entitled little jackasses,
- 42:12Speaker 1: and they come first, even over their kids. They can't
- 42:16Speaker 1: accept the fact that now that I'm a parent and
- 42:19Speaker 1: I have kids, my children should come first over my happiness.
- 42:23Speaker 2: That's the problem.
- 42:25Speaker 7: Absolutely, you know, and like me, I look forward to
- 42:28Speaker 7: trick-or-treating because I.
- 42:29Speaker 6: Get candy too.
- 42:30Speaker 2: Hell yeah, your kid's candy.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Yeah, I was like, it's okay.
- 42:35Speaker 6: My mama said, hey, you got to pay up because
- 42:37Speaker 6: I did a lot of walking.
- 42:38Speaker 7: Give me some candy.
- 42:39Speaker 6: So that's how I did.
- 42:41Speaker 2: You know, yeah, all right. Well, thanks for calling. I
- 42:43Speaker 2: appreciate it.
- 42:44Speaker 7: Yes, have a good one.
- 42:45Speaker 2: You know, you know, back in the day, right?
- 42:47Speaker 1: Remember back in the day when your parents wanted to
- 42:50Speaker 1: look at your candy bag to make sure it was safe?
- 42:53Speaker 1: You know they were looking, they just jacked you, right?
- 42:56Speaker 1: They weren't really looking in your candy bag to find
- 42:58Speaker 1: out if it was safe. They were taking the candy
- 43:00Speaker 1: that they wanted from your bag.
- 43:03Speaker 2: Good morning, how's it going on? Hey, what's going on?
- 43:08Speaker 3: Yeah, it's supposed to rain, I guess.
- 43:19Speaker 8: Well, I don't care. I'm going to take my daughter
- 43:21Speaker 8: with an umbrella.
- 43:22Speaker 9: We're going to be like.
- 43:23Speaker 8: It, you know, like Georgie with the umbrella and everything.
- 43:25Speaker 4: I'm going to take her.
- 43:26Speaker 8: Trick or treat.
- 43:26Speaker 3: Great.
- 43:27Speaker 2: That's a great costume. Absolutely. Play into it.
- 43:30Speaker 3: I feel so bad that I've been so busy and
- 43:34Speaker 3: then like all of a sudden we all got sick.
- 43:37Speaker 3: So I have to go to no trick-or-trunks.
- 43:39Speaker 1: So I'm just like, you know what?
- 43:40Speaker 8: I have to take her out.
- 43:42Speaker 3: And then I did have a big.
- 43:43Speaker 7: Halloween party, and I feel kind of bad because I
- 43:47Speaker 7: started taking shots, and I don't even remember singing happy birthday.
- 43:50Speaker 2: Oh, my God. You're a terrible mom. What is wrong
- 43:52Speaker 2: with you?
- 43:53Speaker 3: And then, so I told my daughter, I want to
- 43:54Speaker 3: redo your birthday.
- 43:56Speaker 8: But, like, I want to go to, like, Chuck E.
- 43:57Speaker 8: Cheese or something where they don't sell alcohol.
- 43:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you might want to.
- 44:00Speaker 6: So I can't remember the.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Well, you better do that sooner than later, okay?
- 44:05Speaker 4: Yeah, but no, you're going to see me watch.
- 44:06Speaker 7: I'm going to send you a picture.
- 44:07Speaker 8: You're going to see me and my daughter.
- 44:09Speaker 7: We're going to be the only ones getting all the
- 44:10Speaker 7: candies with umbrellas watch.
- 44:12Speaker 2: All right. Thanks for calling.
- 44:14Speaker 7: Later.
- 44:14Speaker 6: Bye.
- 44:15Speaker 2: I mean, if it rains, it rains. Go out trick-or-treating.
- 44:18Speaker 1: I mean, trunk-or-treating also is not a substitute for real trick-or-treating, okay?
- 44:24Speaker 2: If you want to go, that's fine. You know, the churches,
- 44:26Speaker 2: the schools, the community events, they're fine. Go support them. Yes,
- 44:32Speaker 2: go have fun.
- 44:33Speaker 1: But also, you got to do the real deal. Come on, man.
- 44:40Speaker 10: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 44:40Speaker 1: And these parents who just don't want to take them out,
- 44:43Speaker 1: you don't want to be inconvenienced for your kids. That's
- 44:46Speaker 1: the problem with these parents today. Their happiness comes before
- 44:50Speaker 1: their kids' happiness. They don't want to be inconvenienced for
- 44:55Speaker 1: their children.
- 44:56Speaker 2: And that's a terrible way to parent.
- 44:59Speaker 10: Terrible way.
- 45:00Speaker 1: All right, A425477, what did you send me here? Hey, Rome,
- 45:04Speaker 1: what kind of sissy kids are raising nowadays? We went
- 45:07Speaker 1: trick-or-treating during active anthrax attacks in 2001?
- 45:13Speaker 5: What?
- 45:14Speaker 2: Even anthrax couldn't stop us? There was active anthrax attacks
- 45:19Speaker 2: in 2001?
- 45:19Speaker 11: What?
- 45:22Speaker 1: Hey, Rome, national night out for the sheriff's office at
- 45:26Speaker 1: Stramler Park tonight by the sheriff's office. Supposed to have
- 45:30Speaker 1: like 30 vendors and several displays with candy.
- 45:35Speaker 2: Well, there you go. Go see it.
- 45:37Speaker 1: You should go out and support that stuff.
- 45:40Speaker 2: You know, take your kids out tonight. What's tonight? Take
- 45:42Speaker 2: them out. Go out to Stramler.
- 45:45Speaker 1: Do the trick-or-treating with the sheriff's department.
- 45:48Speaker 2: But you should still go out on Saturday. You should
- 45:52Speaker 2: still do the real deal.
- 45:54Speaker 8: Hey, what's up, Ron Seahawk Lou?
- 45:56Speaker 2: What up, Lou?
- 45:58Speaker 8: Hey, man, these kids get one chance a year to
- 46:01Speaker 8: actually go door-to-door trick-or-treating. And I don't care if it's raining,
- 46:07Speaker 8: if it's dark early. I don't care about none of that.
- 46:11Speaker 8: We're going. And that's how it should be. I went
- 46:16Speaker 8: trick-or-treating with a broken leg, man. But it was the
- 46:19Speaker 8: funnest time I ever had.
- 46:20Speaker 2: A broken leg!
- 46:22Speaker 4: Yep, a broken leg.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Yeah, a little rain never hurt anybody.
- 46:26Speaker 8: Nah, that ain't going to happen, man. As soon as
- 46:29Speaker 8: they get home, straight to the shower, and they're all.
- 46:31Speaker 7: Good, man.
- 46:32Speaker 10: Exactly.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Let them eat their cat. And it's Saturday night.
- 46:35Speaker 8: But when they get older, they're going to be like, oh, remember,
- 46:38Speaker 8: we went trick-or-treating in the rain.
- 46:39Speaker 3: It was fun.
- 46:40Speaker 2: Get an umbrella and let's roll.
- 46:43Speaker 6: Yes, yes.
- 46:44Speaker 2: So everybody, take your kids.
- 46:46Speaker 8: Take them to Strapner Park, too. That sounds fun.
- 46:48Speaker 11: Do both.
- 46:48Speaker 2: There's no reason you can't do both.
- 46:51Speaker 8: Don't miss out on the actual day.
- 46:54Speaker 11: Yep.
- 46:55Speaker 6: All right.
- 46:57Speaker 8: And I ain't giving out any candy this year, so.
- 47:00Speaker 3: Wait, why?
- 47:03Speaker 2: You're not giving out candy?
- 47:05Speaker 1: Nope.
- 47:05Speaker 2: The hell's wrong with you? What's wrong with you?
- 47:10Speaker 8: I'm leaving. I'm leaving. I'm going to go look for
- 47:12Speaker 8: the good candy.
- 47:13Speaker 2: You are a cheap son of a you-know-what, Lou. I'm
- 47:17Speaker 2: just letting everyone know. You're a terrible human being.
- 47:23Speaker 8: You disagreed with everything I said except for this?
- 47:26Speaker 2: You gotta do both. What is wrong with you?
- 47:29Speaker 11: No, no, no.
- 47:30Speaker 2: You cannot, hold on, listen.
- 47:32Speaker 1: You cannot take your kids to get candy and not
- 47:36Speaker 1: hand out candy to other kids.
- 47:39Speaker 2: It's the circle of life.
- 47:41Speaker 8: Nah, I'm not part of that circle. I do a U-turn.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Oh, you're a terrible human being. I can't even with
- 47:47Speaker 2: you no more. Sorry, kid.
- 47:48Speaker 1: It's just a terrible person. Lou is a terrible person, right? R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7-R-O-M.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I'll be taking my kids candy too, bro. I call
- 47:57Speaker 1: it dad tax. Oh, you can take it. If I
- 48:02Speaker 1: walk them all.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Night too, I get candy. I mean, parents have been,
- 48:09Speaker 2: you're right, the tax.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Parents have been taking their kids Halloween candy forever. Even
- 48:15Speaker 1: the caveman days. They've been taking their candy forever. That's
- 48:18Speaker 1: just what moms and dads do, man. They take your candy.
- 48:21Speaker 1: All right.
- 48:23Speaker 2: But you got to hand out candy also. Come on now.
- 48:27Speaker 2: Don't be like that. Yeah, what's going on?
- 48:30Speaker 8: Romeo, this week, I'm already tired.
- 48:34Speaker 10: We have had parent-teacher conferences.
- 48:36Speaker 8: Last night, we painted pumpkins. If I could go to
- 48:39Speaker 8: sleep early tonight, I would. But guess what? We have
- 48:41Speaker 8: a trunk or treat.
- 48:42Speaker 6: And then tomorrow, we have the police department event.
- 48:46Speaker 3: And then Friday, I have a concert out of town.
- 48:49Speaker 6: I'll be back Saturday morning so I can get these
- 48:51Speaker 6: kids ready, get.
- 48:52Speaker 2: Them covered, warmed up, bundled up, because rain or shine,
- 48:55Speaker 2: we're hitting those streets.
- 48:57Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 48:59Speaker 1: Just go fill up your Yeti with a glass of
- 49:01Speaker 1: Red and go.
- 49:03Speaker 6: What are you worried about? Dude, sometimes you get lucky
- 49:04Speaker 6: and you get those houses that have little tricks or
- 49:07Speaker 6: treats for parents.
- 49:08Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 49:10Speaker 6: And I'm like, I got my wagon, we'll load up
- 49:12Speaker 6: the kids, and then guess what?
- 49:14Speaker 3: We get an extra hour on Sunday to sleep in.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, I forgot. You got to change your time.
- 49:18Speaker 2: What concert are you going.
- 49:19Speaker 5: To on Sunday?
- 49:20Speaker 2: On Friday?
- 49:21Speaker 6: Oh, it's in L.A. It's My Chemical Romance and the Youth.
- 49:25Speaker 1: Oh, the Cowboy Cheerleaders just did that.
- 49:27Speaker 2: They just got sued or something by the Cowboy Cheerleaders.
- 49:29Speaker 3: Well, they actually, it was only a three-day, they only
- 49:31Speaker 3: needed those suits for three days, so they were like, oh,
- 49:34Speaker 3: it's okay, we're not going to use them anymore.
- 49:35Speaker 6: Because it was already over.
- 49:36Speaker 3: The Cowboys think they won.
- 49:38Speaker 6: What are they, four and four now?
- 49:41Speaker 2: Even the cheerleaders. They won.
- 49:43Speaker 6: Give it to them.
- 49:46Speaker 2: Hey, Rome, does candy have a shit?
- 49:48Speaker 1: I found a few bags that I thought I gave
- 49:51Speaker 1: away a few years ago and thinking about giving them
- 49:55Speaker 1: out on Saturday.
- 49:59Speaker 2: I think you'd be good. I don't think candy is next.
- 50:02Speaker 2: I think you're all right. That'll be fine. I mean, kids, man,
- 50:05Speaker 2: kids will eat anything, man. They got iron stomachs. They'll
- 50:07Speaker 2: be fine. No, you'll be good.
- 50:11Speaker 6: Candy.
- 50:12Speaker 2: And what's expiration on a candy? Like 30 years? It's
- 50:15Speaker 2: got to be something like that, right? This was funny.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Last night I was at a little get-together for Halloween
- 50:20Speaker 1: at a friend's house. And we were sitting around on
- 50:23Speaker 1: the patio, you know, just having some drinks, listening to music, talking,
- 50:27Speaker 1: hanging out. And my buddy, he gets up, gets a
- 50:32Speaker 1: phone call from his son who's in college, right? And
- 50:35Speaker 1: I think the son's a freshman or sophomore or something
- 50:37Speaker 1: like that.
- 50:37Speaker 2: I don't remember which one, right?
- 50:39Speaker 1: And then he comes back over to the table and
- 50:40Speaker 1: he tells his wife, hey, I need you to Venmo
- 50:44Speaker 1: him some money.
- 50:45Speaker 2: And the wife's like, for what? What happened? And he goes, nothing.
- 50:48Speaker 1: He just went out to dinner with his friends, and
- 50:51Speaker 1: he called to see if I'd pay him back. And
- 50:54Speaker 1: the wife goes, okay. Wife didn't care. I mean, they
- 50:57Speaker 1: got money. They're not broke. And she just, yeah, okay.
- 51:01Speaker 1: So she Venmo'd their son money. I was the only
- 51:04Speaker 1: person at this table we were sitting at who thought
- 51:09Speaker 1: that was okay. All the people at this party, then
- 51:13Speaker 1: it got into a conversation, right? What are you teaching
- 51:17Speaker 1: your kid by just when he calls for money, you
- 51:19Speaker 1: give it to him? He went out to dinner. He
- 51:21Speaker 1: should be able to pay it himself. What are you
- 51:24Speaker 1: teaching that child? And I thought, well, you're teaching that
- 51:28Speaker 1: child that you love and care about. What lesson are
- 51:32Speaker 1: we trying to learn here? And so now we're having
- 51:38Speaker 1: this conversation. And these parents, well, you know, when we
- 51:41Speaker 1: grew up poor and blah, blah, blah. Who didn't grow
- 51:44Speaker 1: up poor? We all grew up poor, okay? Do you
- 51:47Speaker 1: think growing up poor is what taught you how to
- 51:50Speaker 1: be a man or taught you how to be responsible
- 51:52Speaker 1: or taught you how to, you know, manage money?
- 51:59Speaker 8: No.
- 52:00Speaker 1: Your parents taught you that. My parents taught me that.
- 52:04Speaker 1: You know, my parents taught me how to not be entitled.
- 52:08Speaker 1: It wasn't the poor thing. A lot of us didn't
- 52:11Speaker 1: even know we were poor until we were adults and went.
- 52:14Speaker 2: Oh, wait, we were poor.
- 52:15Speaker 1: Because our parents taught us how to be responsible human
- 52:20Speaker 1: beings even though we were poor.
- 52:21Speaker 2: They didn't let the poorness raise us.
- 52:26Speaker 1: They didn't let us being poor create our character.
- 52:32Speaker 2: They did as parents.
- 52:34Speaker 1: So now, and I'm going to be honest with you,
- 52:37Speaker 1: all the people at this party have money. You know,
- 52:40Speaker 1: they're not all rich, rich, but they're doing just fine.
- 52:43Speaker 2: You know, they can.
- 52:44Speaker 1: Afford a $ 30 meal for their kids. But in their mind,
- 52:48Speaker 1: that's not teaching him anything. Well, what do you need?
- 52:52Speaker 2: He's in college.
- 52:53Speaker 1: You already should have done taught him what he needs
- 52:56Speaker 1: to know about responsibility, about respect, about money management. Why
- 53:03Speaker 1: are you guys always trying to take out your financial,
- 53:08Speaker 1: you know, Your financial problems as a child on your
- 53:12Speaker 1: children thinking that's the way, that that's what's going to
- 53:15Speaker 1: teach them. You might as well raise them with a
- 53:18Speaker 1: TV then. I mean, what is wrong with you parents?
- 53:22Speaker 1: I couldn't believe these people. I was like, oh, and
- 53:26Speaker 1: they know. They knew I was going to say something
- 53:28Speaker 1: about it today because all these people have plenty of money,
- 53:32Speaker 1: yet they still want to keep their kids broke thinking
- 53:35Speaker 1: that teaches them not to be entitled little, you know,
- 53:41Speaker 1: You can teach somebody not to be entitled and still
- 53:45Speaker 1: buy them a car and still pay for their gas.
- 53:49Speaker 2: You know, I got a buddy. Got five kids. No,
- 53:51Speaker 2: four kids. And him and his wife still damn near
- 53:55Speaker 2: pay for everything. They're adults. And they still pay for insurance.
- 54:00Speaker 2: They grew up to be great kids. You know? Grew
- 54:04Speaker 2: up to be great kids. Got jobs. Got careers.
- 54:08Speaker 1: But mom and dad are just still down because that's
- 54:10Speaker 1: his family. And you parents, I just don't understand it.
- 54:15Speaker 1: It's just lazy parenting. When you start to use things
- 54:18Speaker 1: like money to teach your kids lessons, that's just lazy parenting.
- 54:24Speaker 1: And you're not really teaching them anything.
- 54:27Speaker 2: All right. Anyway, sometimes I wonder why. I just wonder
- 54:32Speaker 2: what you people are thinking.
- 54:34Speaker 6: Hey, good morning, Romeo.
- 54:35Speaker 11: It's your girl, Shadeva.
- 54:35Speaker 9: How you doing?
- 54:36Speaker 7: Hey, Shadeva.
- 54:37Speaker 1: What's up?
- 54:38Speaker 6: Oh, nothing.
- 54:39Speaker 9: I was just listening to you this morning about the
- 54:41Speaker 9: young man who caused his parents.
- 54:43Speaker 6: To v-mode him with the money. Yeah.
- 54:45Speaker 4: Can you tell me what in the world is wrong
- 54:48Speaker 4: with these people?
- 54:48Speaker 8: What is wrong with.
- 54:50Speaker 7: Lightening the load.
- 54:51Speaker 4: For your kids.
- 54:52Speaker 1: Well, what the problem was, the kid already went out
- 54:56Speaker 1: and ate with his friends and asked his parents to
- 54:58Speaker 1: pay him back for dinner. That's where everybody got, oh, man,
- 55:02Speaker 1: that's not teaching him nothing. That's not letting him be responsible.
- 55:05Speaker 2: He's in college.
- 55:06Speaker 8: Exactly.
- 55:08Speaker 2: Who cares man if you got the.
- 55:11Speaker 9: Money children that i sometimes it's alone and sometimes it's
- 55:14Speaker 9: a kid exactly i had a kid that just moved
- 55:18Speaker 9: and i went and bought stuff my kid didn't ask
- 55:22Speaker 9: me for this stuff i just went just to help
- 55:24Speaker 9: out it's just helping it's hard out here like it's
- 55:29Speaker 9: hard for us exactly.
- 55:32Speaker 1: And the problem was all these parents have money. All
- 55:35Speaker 1: these people who were at this party I was at
- 55:37Speaker 1: last night all have money. They're not hurting for, they
- 55:40Speaker 1: could all afford to send their kids 30 bucks or whatever.
- 55:43Speaker 2: It was like whatever it was, you know?
- 55:46Speaker 1: But they just, here's my problem with it.
- 55:49Speaker 2: People think, people don't want.
- 55:51Speaker 1: To have entitled kids, but they don't realize that you
- 55:54Speaker 1: can raise entitled kids and still treat them entitled.
- 55:57Speaker 8: Absolutely. You live that life for them. It's okay.
- 56:00Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly.
- 56:03Speaker 8: I totally agree. It is nothing wrong with him.
- 56:06Speaker 6: Calling the parents.
- 56:06Speaker 3: Like, listen, he's already in college.
- 56:08Speaker 4: It's tough enough out there.
- 56:09Speaker 2: It is.
- 56:10Speaker 9: And all the money that the parents have, listen, you're
- 56:13Speaker 9: not taking it with you.
- 56:15Speaker 10: Mm-hmm.
- 56:16Speaker 2: Some of these parents are so selfish nowadays, though.
- 56:18Speaker 1: It just seems like it's not a competition with your kid.
- 56:22Speaker 2: And do a little parenting. Teach them to be humble
- 56:25Speaker 2: and respectful and responsible. Teach them that.
- 56:29Speaker 9: Yeah, and it's okay to help out every now and again.
- 56:32Speaker 7: That's what you're teaching them as well.
- 56:33Speaker 9: Exactly.
- 56:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I get it.
- 56:34Speaker 8: I get it.
- 56:35Speaker 2: All right, thanks for calling. Talk to you later.
- 56:37Speaker 5: Bye.
- 56:38Speaker 2: That's all I'm saying.
- 56:39Speaker 1: All right, is you don't need to put them through
- 56:43Speaker 1: the ringer like you had to go through. And that's
- 56:45Speaker 1: what I have a lot of, you know, you think
- 56:47Speaker 1: the hard times are what taught you. No, it was
- 56:50Speaker 1: your parents that taught you. And if you really look
- 56:53Speaker 1: back on it, you'll know it wasn't the poor. It
- 56:56Speaker 1: wasn't growing up, you know. in a small house, it
- 57:01Speaker 1: wasn't growing up with, you know, multiple kids, it wasn't,
- 57:04Speaker 1: it wasn't, you know, the fact that your mom turned
- 57:07Speaker 1: a dollar into 15, so she can feed everybody, that, well,
- 57:11Speaker 1: that's what taught you, actually, but that's what I'm saying,
- 57:13Speaker 1: your parents taught you, and that's what you need to
- 57:16Speaker 1: do with your kids, you don't want to be entitled little,
- 57:19Speaker 1: you know, jerks, teach them not to be, but you
- 57:22Speaker 1: don't have to do that by, by holding out money
- 57:25Speaker 1: from them, or by, you know, making them go through
- 57:28Speaker 1: the same experiences that you went through.
- 57:30Speaker 2: What'd you send me here? It says, uh, Hey Rome.
- 57:34Speaker 2: Where is it?
- 57:34Speaker 10: Where is it?
- 57:35Speaker 1: It says, hey, Rome, that kid needs to get smart
- 57:39Speaker 1: and go apply for EBT because I'll tell you what
- 57:41Speaker 1: my kids are sophomores in college and I'm paying for
- 57:44Speaker 1: apartment and tuition. You best believe she went and got
- 57:48Speaker 1: EBT as I can't afford to put food in her
- 57:51Speaker 1: apartment either. The government seems to screw you in every
- 57:55Speaker 1: which way.
- 57:56Speaker 2: You better take advantage of that EBT.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Ha, ha, ha.
- 58:01Speaker 2: That's actually very funny.
- 58:04Speaker 1: Um, because my mom and dad, when they were in
- 58:07Speaker 1: their twenties and they were this kids, it was, uh,
- 58:11Speaker 1: they all went and got on EBT just because it was,
- 58:14Speaker 1: I guess it was so easy. I don't know what
- 58:16Speaker 1: it takes to get on EBT nowadays, but it was
- 58:18Speaker 1: so easy for them to get EBT, even though they were, um,
- 58:23Speaker 1: I mean, they were just kids and they, uh, I
- 58:26Speaker 1: don't remember if they were, I think they were They
- 58:29Speaker 1: were working.
- 58:30Speaker 2: They might have been in college. I'm not totally sure,
- 58:32Speaker 2: but yeah.
- 58:33Speaker 1: My mom said, yeah, me and my friends just went
- 58:36Speaker 1: down because they wanted to. And so they just went
- 58:38Speaker 1: down to the EBT office and got money. I don't
- 58:41Speaker 1: even know that they needed it. It was just so
- 58:43Speaker 1: easy to get that they just did it. So, yeah.
- 58:48Speaker 6: All right.
- 58:49Speaker 2: Okay, I did have.
- 58:50Speaker 1: This something I was going to get into, but I
- 58:52Speaker 1: think I need to get into this first. I want
- 58:54Speaker 1: to talk about candy for a minute. Now, everybody has
- 58:59Speaker 1: their favorite candy, right? When you go out trick-or-treating, you
- 59:02Speaker 1: have your favorite candy, you know what you like. What
- 59:04Speaker 1: is the worst candy to get? We were having this
- 59:07Speaker 1: conversation yesterday right before I got out of here. Now,
- 59:10Speaker 1: when I go and buy candy for trick-or-treaters, I like,
- 59:13Speaker 1: I can't afford full candy size bars, okay? I just,
- 59:16Speaker 1: I don't make that kind of money. And I get
- 59:18Speaker 1: way too many kids in my neighborhood to hand them out.
- 59:22Speaker 2: I but I like, I don't want to go cheap.
- 59:27Speaker 1: I don't want to go just buy what I call
- 59:29Speaker 1: that bag of filler candy. You know, the, the, the
- 59:32Speaker 1: Tootsie Roll, whatever that big bag is with the Tootsie
- 59:35Speaker 1: Pops and the.
- 59:36Speaker 2: I don't even know what's in it.
- 59:37Speaker 1: Some weird colored green, I don't know, caramel candy or
- 59:41Speaker 1: taffy candy. I don't even know what it is, but
- 59:45Speaker 1: so I try to go buy the bags of, um,
- 59:49Speaker 1: You know, the ones that have the M & Ms and.
- 59:52Speaker 2: The Nerds and the ones that have the.
- 59:56Speaker 1: Maybe the Kit Kats or the Snickers bars or the
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Milky Ways or... You guys know what I'm talking about.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: The mixed bags like that. Now, they're kind of expensive.
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: I get it.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: So I tried to kind of buy extras like the lollipops.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Those are all, you know, the blow pops and things
- 1:00:12Speaker 1: like that. Try to mix it up a little bit.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: But I was.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Looking at a bag of candy yesterday, and it had
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: candy corn in it. Candy corn, I think, is the
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: worst candy to give anybody. I don't think it's good.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I think it's the worst candy to give somebody. It's
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: not in a wrapper. It's just a hard piece of
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: candy you're throwing into somebody's bag. So it got me
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: to thinking about candy. What is the best candy?
- 1:00:44Speaker 6: What is your.
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: What is your favorite candy to get and what is
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: your worst candy to get? Do you think there's a
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: consensus amongst all of us that there is one candy
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: that nobody likes to get in their bag that you
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: just throw away?
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: Already four, two, five, four, seven, seven. So what is it?
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: What's your worst candy? What's your best candy? Throw me
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: outside of the four point. I guess here's a better
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: way to put it. What candy do you steal from
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: your kids today? when you go through their candy bags.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: Trick-or-treating is coming. Halloween is almost here. Let's talk about
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: the best candy and the worst candy.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: What is it?
- 1:01:23Speaker 11: 842-5477.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: Good morning. What's going on?
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: Hey, what was the question? What was the nastiest candy,
- 1:01:30Speaker 3: you think?
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: Yeah, the candy corn, I think, is the worst candy.
- 1:01:35Speaker 7: No, I think it's the black licorice.
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: That was nasty.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, black licorice. Yeah, black licorice. What do you think?
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: Do you like that one or no? Yeah, I, yeah.
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: You might be right about that. You might be right
- 1:01:52Speaker 2: about that.
- 1:01:52Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I was trying to get you. I was getting
- 1:01:55Speaker 3: you on my buddy, and I was like, well, sure. So, yeah,
- 1:01:57Speaker 3: that's what you get.
- 1:01:58Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: All right, man. Thanks for calling.
- 1:02:01Speaker 3: Go Cowboys!
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: Oh, I'm glad he got that in there. I actually
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: forgot about black licorice.
- 1:02:08Speaker 6: Wow.
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: I don't see a lot of black. Do you guys
- 1:02:11Speaker 2: get a lot of licorice in your candy bags? I
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: know the red vines. I see those.
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7. Hey, Rome, candy corn is my favorite, but I
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: hate black licorice. All right, Raider Rob, I don't know.
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: What is the worst candy? Hey, Rome, the best candy
- 1:02:26Speaker 1: is the Jolly Ranchers. The worst candy, hot tamales or
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: candy corn tamales.
- 1:02:32Speaker 2: Uh, that stuff tastes like plastic. Um, yeah, I like
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: the rain. I, uh, yeah, I kind of like the, uh,
- 1:02:42Speaker 2: Jolly Ranchers.
- 1:02:43Speaker 3: Huh?
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: I do like Jolly Ranchers. Those are kind of, but.
- 1:02:48Speaker 1: I think the Jolly Ranchers are in that bag of, uh,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: filler candy. You know, you get that little, that big
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: bag with the little, uh, little, um, tootsie rolls and the,
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: and the Jolly Ranchers.
- 1:03:01Speaker 5: Okay. Okay.
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: 44, 254, 7 to 7. What do you got? What's
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: the best candy? What's the worst candy? What's the best candy?
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: What's the worst candy, right? Everybody has their favorites. Everybody
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: has the one that they don't want to get. For me,
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: it was candy corn. I never liked getting candy corn. A-Rome,
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: the worst candy is mint chocolate.
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: What do you mean?
- 1:03:23Speaker 1: Like those Andy's mints? The ones you get at the
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: steakhouse after dinner?
- 1:03:27Speaker 2: Those are great. I love those.
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7 roll. Don't forget root beer barrels.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: They're nasty. What are the root beer barrels? I don't
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: remember what the root beer barrels are. Are they hard? Oh,
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: those hard?
- 1:03:42Speaker 9: Yes, yes.
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: I know they're hard. They're like a hard candy, huh? Oh,
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: I forgot about those. All right, 8-4-2-5-4, 7-7. Good morning.
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: What's going on?
- 1:03:51Speaker 6: Hey, good morning.
- 1:03:54Speaker 7: So this is the first year at our new.
- 1:03:57Speaker 6: Spot that I'm going to be handing out candy.
- 1:04:00Speaker 7: And I was being a cheesecake, and I got the
- 1:04:02Speaker 7: 50-year-old pack.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: The big one? No, no, no, no.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: You can't embarrass yourself like that.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: No.
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: No, no.
- 1:04:12Speaker 7: That's what I'm saying. I was like, I don't want
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: to be the lady.
- 1:04:15Speaker 3: No one has given out the Tootsie Rolls.
- 1:04:16Speaker 7: Especially because my house.
- 1:04:18Speaker 4: Is dig up.
- 1:04:19Speaker 7: I was like, no, I can't do this.
- 1:04:21Speaker 2: I still bought them.
- 1:04:22Speaker 7: But I was like, I kept thinking about it. I'm like, no,
- 1:04:26Speaker 7: I'm going to go get a bag of the Kit Kats,
- 1:04:29Speaker 7: the Twizzlers, that bag.
- 1:04:30Speaker 2: Yeah, you got to come. If it's your first year
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: in the neighborhood, you can't do that.
- 1:04:35Speaker 6: No. I know.
- 1:04:36Speaker 4: So I got that right.
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: That's awesome.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: Hey.
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: That's awesome.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I'm like, God, now I really am going to be
- 1:05:03Speaker 1: the Kissy Roll Girl.
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: You can't be doing that. No, you're going to embarrass yourself.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: You can't embarrass yourself first year at the neighborhood.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:05:13Speaker 7: I was like, I can't do that.
- 1:05:17Speaker 6: All right.
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: Well, good luck. Oh, she's going to be the Tootsie
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: Roll lady.
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: The only thing worse than the Tootsie Roll lady in
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: the neighborhood is the cat lady.
- 1:05:30Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Eight, four, two, five, four, seven, seven. Good morning. What's
- 1:05:33Speaker 2: going on?
- 1:05:34Speaker 8: Hey, what's up?
- 1:05:35Speaker 2: Hey, what's going on, man?
- 1:05:37Speaker 8: Man, she's new in the neighborhood and she's going to
- 1:05:39Speaker 8: hand out Tootsie Rolls?
- 1:05:41Speaker 3: That's guaranteed asking to get your house egged.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: No, she figured it out. She figured it out.
- 1:05:46Speaker 9: Yeah, don't give the Tootsie Rolls out because I think
- 1:05:48Speaker 9: that between that and that candy corn, I.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: Think those are the top two right there, bro.
- 1:05:54Speaker 2: Yeah, those are not the best. Tootsie Rolls, yeah, they're
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: not the best. You ain't lying.
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: You got to think about that, Rome. You give out
- 1:06:01Speaker 3: bad candy, you know what I mean, and then your
- 1:06:03Speaker 3: house gets egg or toilet paper.
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: Well, first of all, let's be honest.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Eggs and toilet paper cost too much, and aren't they
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: taking away EBT or something like that?
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: It don't matter, Rome.
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: You kids over here don't think about that, Rome. Ain't
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: nobody doing that.
- 1:06:18Speaker 6: Anyway.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: You got to take care of them. It's only once
- 1:06:22Speaker 3: a year.
- 1:06:22Speaker 4: Hook them up.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: Yeah, I think she's learning. It's her first time. Cut
- 1:06:26Speaker 2: her some slack. My God, she figured it out.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: It's her first time in the neighborhood room.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: No, she says it's her first time handing out candy.
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: She's just figuring it out. She figured it out.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Cut her some slack.
- 1:06:37Speaker 2: Damn, Ruben.
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: You got to cut people some slack sometimes.
- 1:06:40Speaker 8: I can't cut her no slack.
- 1:06:41Speaker 6: You shouldn't even be thinking about tootsie rolls, especially if
- 1:06:44Speaker 6: you knew it was your first time.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: She figured it out. Give her a break. Come on now. Relax.
- 1:06:50Speaker 8: That's the nastiest candy I've ever seen in my life.
- 1:06:53Speaker 2: All right, Ruben.
- 1:06:55Speaker 6: Later, bro.
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: Jeez, relax, man. Cut her some slack. She figured it out. R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7-8, Romeo.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I got to tell you a story like that last
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: lady that called me and my wife both grew up
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: on the east side. We grew up poor. We came
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: up a little bit, started making some real money. We
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: moved out to a real upper end neighborhood out in
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: the Rosedale area.
- 1:07:21Speaker 2: The first year trick or treating came around.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: We were so excited. My wife went and bought a
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: bunch of candy. Now, Rome, we're from the east side.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: She went to Mercado Latino and bought a bunch of
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: Mexican candy, hundreds of dollars worth of candy ready to
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: hand it out. I thought, oh my God, what have
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: you done?
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: We're in a new neighborhood. We're Mexican. We're going to
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: hand out Mexican candy. It's all going to go bad, Rome.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: The kids, it actually went great.
- 1:07:56Speaker 2: The kids loved it.
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: When I woke up the next morning, just paper candy
- 1:08:00Speaker 1: wrappers everywhere in my front yard. The kids are eating
- 1:08:02Speaker 1: the candies we gave it to them.
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: Oh, that's hilarious. That's great.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: We're talking about the best and the worst candy. And
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: apparently your first Halloween, right? The first time handing out candy.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: What do you do?
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: R-D-4-2-5-4-7-7.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: That's what people are sending me stories about. Hey, Romeo,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: my husband and I, when we got our first home,
- 1:08:19Speaker 1: we were so excited about handing out candy for Halloween.
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: We decorated the whole house. We had lights up. We
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: had scary monsters in our front yard. I must have
- 1:08:33Speaker 1: bought a thousand pieces of candy ready to go, and
- 1:08:38Speaker 1: only about 12 people showed up. We didn't realize how
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: new our neighborhood was. We moved into a new neighborhood
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: as it was being built, and there were not that
- 1:08:53Speaker 1: many kids in the neighborhood yet.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: Now, though, We have lots of kids, so we get
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: lots of trick-or-treaters.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: But that first year was hilarious. We had all this
- 1:09:05Speaker 1: candy left over.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: That's pretty funny.
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: I mean, you do got to know your neighborhood when
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: it comes to Halloween because you can live, like my mom,
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: she lives in an older, established neighborhood. So all of
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: the kids have all grown up and moved out. So
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: now it's just the grandparents that live there, the parents
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: that live there.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: So she only gets about half a dozen trick-or-treaters. So
- 1:09:31Speaker 2: my mom makes these huge, almost like.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: Gift baskets for the kids that show up. But yeah,
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: especially when you move into these new neighborhoods where they're
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: still building houses.
- 1:09:42Speaker 2: Not many kids live there, so you got to be careful.
- 1:09:44Speaker 2: You got to know what you're doing.
- 1:09:46Speaker 1: R-D-4-2-5-4, 7 to 7, Halloween is coming, right? Make sure
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: you guys stock up on the right kind of candy. Don't,
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: I mean, obviously, like I said, I mean, I would
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: love to give out the full-size candy bars, but I
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: can't afford it. There's just too many kids that come
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: through the neighborhood, so I really can't afford it.
- 1:10:09Speaker 2: But I don't want to go cheap on my candy.
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: I'm not giving out Tootsie Rolls and, you know, Jolly
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: Ranchers or Tootsie Rolls and candy corn. I try to
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: do what I can, but there's all, but you do
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: have to understand one thing.
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: Kids are not stupid when it comes to Halloween.
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: Kids know what, kids know what houses are going to
- 1:10:30Speaker 1: give out the best candy and they actually talk about
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: it They do.
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: So be careful. Don't be that house.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Don't be that lady that hands out the bad candy.
