- 0:18Hello, and welcome to Gates Leapers, the pop culture game show that shines
- 0:22a spotlight onto everyone's favorite fandoms. I'm your games master and mutants kept alive
- 0:27by atomic powered machines Matt Watson. But of course we couldn't play these games
- 0:32without our team captains, a pair of volt dwellers who are ready to be
- 0:37experimented on. First, she's a heavily mutated gun slinger, but that's the
- 0:42Midwest for you. It's Mordred Stevenson. Have there. That's not the accent
- 0:48for my town, not at all. And he's a three armed robot ready
- 0:52to build whatever you need this convention season. It's mister Handy himself. Jason
- 0:56Nowen, Hello, thank you, Hello captain. Are you ready for a
- 1:00series of games about to post apocalyptic RPG video game series set in an atom
- 1:04punk world. There's there's a lot to this one. There there's a lot.
- 1:08Yes, I am very ready. Uh. We were talking very extensively
- 1:12about how it's been a long time. Yes, I visited the Fall series,
- 1:15but going back into it, I freaking love it. It's it's super
- 1:19fun and yeah, I'm probably gonna play a little bit after this. This
- 1:22episode recording for sure? Oh hell yes, hell, yes, you played
- 1:26the originals, the three. I started with New Vegas and then I played
- 1:30four. So in the grand scheme of like, the series is a totelt
- 1:37Yes, not much, not much, but I like it, you know,
- 1:41like most things, I make up for my spirit. Yes, yes,
- 1:45and you sounded sound especially enthusiastic today. You make up for an incumption
- 1:52and older What about yourself? Was was your knowledge at? I am minimal.
- 1:57I have watched a lot of it being played, yes, but I
- 2:01have not played a lot myself. I'm hoping that general video game understanding will
- 2:07carry me through and gumpshon and GUMPHI. So it maybe sounds like you need
- 2:14a teammate, and we'll give We'll give Jason a teammate as well, just
- 2:16because that's how this podcast works. Yeah. Yeah, So to play these
- 2:21games about Fallout, you'll each need to pair up with a trusty partner,
- 2:24a kindly mutant, or a German shepherd. Jason, who is your teammate
- 2:30today? He's a new player, a dog lover, and a mental health
- 2:34professional. Which can I get your number? Later? It's Andy Walker?
- 2:38Hello? Andy? Hello? Yeah, that's right, mental health professional and
- 2:40social workers or hawd your kids and had you wives. Fantastic introduction from a
- 2:49licensed professional there, Andy, it's so good to have you on the podcast.
- 2:53You and I used to work together back in the day, back when
- 2:55I lived in Merry Old England. We did, indeed. But we're not
- 3:00to be making coffee for angry customers today. We are going to be playing
- 3:02some games about fallouts. So where is your fallout knowledge at? I think
- 3:07it's I don't want to get ahead of me now, but I think it's
- 3:08pretty good. However, like we discussed earlier, I know Matt is a
- 3:12bit of a wizard with the words, so I do worry about some of
- 3:15the questions, but overall, I'd say I'm a solid nine eight percent shot.
- 3:19It's going to be all right, nice, lovely, it's coming home,
- 3:24good stuff. I'm sure you'll make a good team. And Ultra who
- 3:29is joining you? He's a regular player. We love him and I can't
- 3:32wait to hear the ten thousand muses he's brought. It's Chris Reagan. Hello,
- 3:37Chris, Hey, what's up everybody? I am so stoked to be
- 3:40here and probably lose again. You know, it's just a good you won
- 3:46I've won one, lost, lost, four, five, five or five.
- 3:53I might have lost five at this point. We'll make it five today.
- 3:57If not, they're not gonna be much help. Look to have fun
- 4:04ways, fun always, Chris, you are a fan of the full out
- 4:09franchise question Mark. I am, indeed exclamation point lovely. I wouldn't say
- 4:15it. I'm like super super knowledgeable on it, but I fucking love it.
- 4:19Honestly. I had the same exact pattern of playing as Jason. I
- 4:24started with New Vegas, and then I went to four, and then last
- 4:28year actually I played three, and I love the franchise. Don't know if
- 4:32the lore is all in there, you know, but I'm still super stoked.
- 4:36There's so much of it. I was like trying to like read up
- 4:40on it. I studied more for this than I did like in any school
- 4:45class or a Yeah, more important, much more vital. I'll use this
- 4:51way more in life than I will any of that other ship from school.
- 4:57You'll bet Tree, Well, the fuck is that? That's my fault minoring
- 5:01in music, which is all the more weird that you were doing geometry.
- 5:06Yeah you know stuff, Yeah the triangle. There we go. That's that
- 5:15we're not going to beat that on this RAF. I don't think. I
- 5:16don't think. So, okay, is that an instrument? Sure? It
- 5:21is? Now okay, okay. Teams, you've zipped through your formative life
- 5:26experiences. You are almost ready to leave the vault. But before you can,
- 5:30there's one special task I have for you. I'd like each pair to
- 5:34come up with a Fallout themed team name. Please. Let's start with Jason
- 5:39and Andy. Oh nice? Okay, So Andy, as you may or
- 5:43may not know, I like to start off because I have some pretty bad
- 5:45names and I like that a lot. It's a very fun aspect of my
- 5:48life that I get to participate in. The more I talk, the more
- 5:51it sounds like I'm being really sarcastic. I'll be honest. Your voice sounds
- 5:56very sarcastic. I'm so sorry. I'm tired. All right, So here's
- 6:00some names. You give me your thoughts. First, it's a it's a
- 6:04classic tunnel snakes rule, right, That's that's that's a classic tunnel snakes roll.
- 6:09Yeah. Yeah, I've got a sexy ghoules uh, because I forgot
- 6:14ghouls were a thing in these games. And I think there's there's like a
- 6:16Bostonian enactor Ghoul who's like sexy, you can romance him. I don't know.
- 6:21It's it's just interesting, Okay. It gives us an insight into your
- 6:25preferences. There's a lot of there's a lot of second the Google prostitutes as
- 6:28well. In one of the games. I don't show many of the games.
- 6:30I don't know, Uh, the Everlasting Dog Meat because I like that,
- 6:33like dog you Everlasting Dog meet, Yeah, because it always exists in
- 6:38the Game of Reincarnation. It's the same dog. I don't know. And
- 6:41then my last one, it's one of my favorite ones, the concept of
- 6:45not having enough stats for the one big decision in the game, so you
- 6:46don't get the ending that you want, because that's like a bummer, you
- 6:50know. Uh, that's a snappy name, rolls off the the last one,
- 6:57Jason. Yeah, so Andy, I'm hoping you've got some ideas.
- 7:00Yeah. Well, actually, James and I think we're on the same Waveland
- 7:03because I didn't put tunnel Snakes down. Yeah, And I will say,
- 7:09you know a lot about girl prostitutes For someone who said that didn't know girls
- 7:13existed just a moment ago, I forgot. I had to remember, you
- 7:16know, And then the first thought was sexy girls there thing as well,
- 7:21well, I am still a health professional, James, and I think we
- 7:25can go But I mean that sounds good. I had a few meself Boat,
- 7:31I think, I think tunnel snakes. I mean that could be a
- 7:34good one to goal with. Yeah, tunnel snakes, the tunnel Snakes.
- 7:39The tunnel Snakes rules. You have to have an exclamation mark at the end
- 7:43of rule. Yeah, tunnel snakes rule. Okay, that's a good team
- 7:51name. I like it. Let's move on over to Utre and Chris.
- 7:56I only had two ideas, lame on me. One of them has been
- 8:01amended to tunnel Snakes. Suck Bigan. We're from Colorado and like a thing
- 8:13that people say coloradical. Coloradical. It's like it's like a hashtag thing.
- 8:18Um. But also rad scorpions. So radical scorpions, Oh, radical scorpions
- 8:24pretty good. I'm always a fan of naming anything scorpion, you know,
- 8:30flag, football teams, whatever. Scorpion is always a good one to go
- 8:35off. I had a couple I really like, I really like those,
- 8:39um, but to go off an existing bit, because you guys know me,
- 8:43I love existing bits. Yeah, yeah, there's you know a couple
- 8:48of times now Audre's team has had Adder's name in the title. Yeah,
- 8:54that's right. And there's a woman there's this creepy cult and followup called the
- 9:01Children of Adam, So I was thinking the Children of adram Um. That
- 9:07might be the most false one we've had yet. There's I could not find
- 9:13anything that I could into, so that was the best I could do.
- 9:18It's a good it's a good effort. It's definitely a good effort. You
- 9:22know, it's all about trying. It is it is because you can reload.
- 9:24You can reload the safe if you want to fall out. Yeah,
- 9:28and then the other ones weren't as good. I can't remember Adam kats,
- 9:35you know, there's just like a different uh factions and stuff. And then
- 9:41yeah, yeah, so what what are you thinking? Then? What you're
- 9:43settling on? You got you got Tunnel Snakes Suck for the classic rivalry here.
- 9:48Yeah, it's very clear that it's one team against us. I think
- 9:52I like Tunnel Snakes Suck too, because the whole thing about the game is
- 9:54choice, right, a lot of choice and fallout. I will say our
- 10:00on our last episode, I did keep trying to buzz in with the other
- 10:03team's name, could be a strat udre could just have a stroke in the
- 10:09middle of this still you know, like that that's an option for her.
- 10:13Ultra's brain collapses in on itself like a nuclear reactor. Um. I mean
- 10:18we could tunnel snakes suck and then you can shout rule and suck during the
- 10:22during the quick fire. Und I'm super down for that. Yeah, all
- 10:26right, tune in a question mark instead of an exclamation point. You kind
- 10:33of agree with them snakes, they suck. We're just we're not even like
- 10:37an opposing faction. We're like within the group and we're like, hey,
- 10:41I don't know if I agree with what's started down, we're just to fall
- 10:46out. We're just kind of like slightly talking shit to everybody else, don't
- 10:50They kind of suck, right, kind of suck kind of a day.
- 10:56Those leather jackets there, like that cute, right, They kind of out
- 11:01of fashion again? Now whether anyways, good point, it's not sustainable.
- 11:07It's not sustainable Brahmin nice reference. Okay, so we have the tunnel snakes
- 11:13rule versus the tunnel snakes suck. I'm just hanging out with a bunch of
- 11:18tunnel snakes today. All right, there's some good team names. But if
- 11:22you're listening to this and thinking, well, you're overseeing a fun situation.
- 11:26Matt, But I don't know my Fallout from my Fallout boy, don't worry
- 11:31his audro with a little segment we like to call passing knowledge. Fallout is
- 11:37a series of post apocalyptic role playing video games, initially released in nineteen ninety
- 11:41seven, but with a far more well known reboot by Bethesda in two thousand
- 11:46and eight. The reboot was made under the direction of Todd Howard, who
- 11:50is at this very moment busy at work on Skyroom's twelfth rerelease. And one
- 11:56of the great things about having a fully dynamic game in is all of this
- 12:01just works. The series is set in a parallel timeline to our own,
- 12:05where the world leaned heavily into nuclear power beginning in the fifties. This gives
- 12:09it a distinct esthetic, fusing the future and classic fifties Americana. Essentially imagine
- 12:16the Jetsons, but where Astro the Dog is a giant radiated scorpion and the
- 12:20robot made has a hacks on case it needs to remove your head from your
- 12:24body. You don't know how wonderful it is for me together, I feel
- 12:28completely recharged. The nuclear prevalence resulted in vaults being built across North America for
- 12:35citizens to retreat to in case of danger, rather than keeping people safe,
- 12:39though as advertised, each vault was just a separate Petrie dish for whatever experiments
- 12:46Vault Tech felt like performing. This makes the world your character emerges into very
- 12:50chill, very well adjusted, not at all volatile and violent. Everything's fine,
- 12:56drink Nuca cola are American way of life, isn't it grand? Peace,
- 13:03freedom and bacon and eggs seems perfect? But what if it's not.
- 13:11This world is dark and full of conflict and ever present violence, with struggles
- 13:16due to resource shortages and desires for power, factions divided out of fear and
- 13:20lies, and large corporations using the propaganda of a bygone era. Honestly,
- 13:26it's nice to escape all of that real world crap and just go into a
- 13:30video game. Thank you, Audre. I hope that caught everyone up on
- 13:37Fallout And if not, look, it's a post apocalyptic franchise and they account
- 13:41for fifty percent of all contemporary ips, so you'll pick it up as we
- 13:45go along. Yeah, Just before we get to today's games, I've asked
- 13:48each player to bring in a muse, something that inspires them or something they
- 13:52love from this particular fandom. Fallout is inspiring to me because here in America,
- 13:58we're about three elections icles away from adopting the politics of the nineteen fifties,
- 14:03and even though I don't agree with them, I like to be proven
- 14:05right. So Jason will start with you. Yes, So with for my
- 14:11muse today, I chose one of my favorite Fallout games. I think it's
- 14:16a Fallout game that really emphasizes choice, creative problem solving, uh some RPG
- 14:22elements where I get to really build my own world. Fallout Shelter is great,
- 14:28and I think it's an under game like ironic, it's full out Shelter
- 14:33good. I've played it. Un Ironically, I do think it's a good
- 14:37like. I think it started off as a mobile game and I got ported
- 14:39over to switching something. It's a very simple, like just build your own
- 14:43settlement type of game, and it's just nice to to hop in every now
- 14:46and then and check on my little vault. Yeah they still alive. Yeah
- 14:50they're probably starving like a fucked up tamagotchi, you know, yeah, fighting
- 14:54for its life against deaf eaters or whatever. The tamaguchi. But there's a
- 14:58thousand of them in a volts, making them breed with each other, make
- 15:01the best babies or something. I don't know, Okay, And then the
- 15:05game's fun. I do like it. Yeah, it's a good game.
- 15:07It's better than seventy six. I'll tell you, fair point, fair point,
- 15:11it's entirely it's better than seventy six. Yeah, but I'll say my
- 15:15apologies if anyone's listening to this, If a Fallout fans has decided to click
- 15:18on this episode, there will be some seventy six racking happening. I hope
- 15:22you agree with us. Yeah, and I hope you like Shelter a lot.
- 15:26Okay, you are inspired by Fallout Shelter. Nice, you're inspired by
- 15:30cash grabby spinoffs. I like it very inspiring. Let's move on over to
- 15:35your team mate, Andy. What's inspiring you from the world of Fallout?
- 15:39Now? I was gonna say just about Jason's mus show. The only thing
- 15:43that I hear about it is how much money I have spent on it myself.
- 15:48I mean, those boxes just draw you. Is that instead of loot
- 15:56boxes. It's like, yeah, yeah, it makes it less threatening when
- 16:00it's a lunchbox as opposed to a loop. Yes, I am glad to
- 16:03top out my mus because it means I can finally use it. This one
- 16:07comes to the double bubble because I wanted to show off my merchandise and hopefully
- 16:11pull on the heart strings of Matt our lovely Horse. Because this is a
- 16:18gift that Matt gave me. Oh yes, many years ago. It is
- 16:23a mug that has survived the ages of our working together and times since it
- 16:30is a lovely for the viewers at home, it is a fallout mug.
- 16:33Yes, with the lovely Vault boy on it. Is he holding a mug
- 16:37of his own on it? Oh yeah, yeah, it's because he normally
- 16:41has the thumbs up, but it's a mug. The mug exception. I
- 16:44he pulled on my heart strings. That's so, that's so sentimental. Yeah,
- 16:47It's like we were working at a coffee place together and I was like,
- 16:49you know what, this guy needs another receptacle for coffee, and obviously
- 16:55it's uptizing with the Vault boy with the holding the mug as well. I
- 16:57think that's it's it's good, yes, with advertising of the company, but
- 17:02that is my muse and I can finally drink from it now, which is
- 17:04excellent. Yeah, it's never that's so sweet that you've had because that's like
- 17:11we're old, so that was like what six or seven years ago now,
- 17:14back when the worlds and Black and White match. Yes, yes, a
- 17:17long time ago. Oh, that's so sweet that you kept that and it's
- 17:21survived. It's looking like it's in good condition as well. It's doing well.
- 17:26Fantastic. Yea lovely muse. You've You've successfully pulled up my heartstrings.
- 17:30But I've got to go back into games master mode and say fuck you.
- 17:33I'm going to take away points at some point. Um. Awesome. All
- 17:37right, Let's move on over to our other tunnel snakes, the ones who
- 17:40believe that the tunnel sake snakes suck, and let's ask maybe they maybe suck.
- 17:45Let's ask Chris, what's inspiring you from fallout? Um? As previously
- 17:51stated, I have a shit tone of MutS. I like to com prepared
- 17:56with muses things to inspire me to victory because I figure the more I have,
- 18:03the more likely I'll win. And we'll see if someday that becomes true.
- 18:07I don't really know quant Is he not quality? That's what they say,
- 18:11Yeah, exactly. And speaking of quantity over quality, I'm gonna use
- 18:15my brotherhood of Steelhead that I've got nice my only bit of merch that I
- 18:21have. Oh shoot, actually, I do have a little vault boy figuring.
- 18:26Oh he's coming up with mole muses on the fly life on the podcast.
- 18:30We're just written merch. I do have a vault boy figuring in my
- 18:37office. I'm not in my office. Um, And then I'm gonna say
- 18:41another muse is our our good buddy Adam Wood, who I lost too in
- 18:45the Parks of rec episode because he lent me New Vegas the first time I
- 18:51played it and was just like, dude, you're gonna enjoy this just to
- 18:55play it and then you to do this. And then he gave me a
- 18:59drug that I then took and got really sucked into fallout while using um and
- 19:07so it's just like a great time socially shout out to Adam Um, yes,
- 19:11and and and his drugs. Yeah, that's so surreal, because like,
- 19:15all dude, you gotta you gotta take KEMX in the game whal Life,
- 19:19She's so blurring sport some jet Oh and then I was gonna use my
- 19:27last news as a post Malone's vault boy tattoo. Okay, he just got
- 19:33a little one on his leg and I and I appreciate it, and uh
- 19:37I will probably do the same at some point. So shout out to post
- 19:41Malone. I know he's listening. Really appreciate the shout out as well.
- 19:47You know his fun beds doesn't really doing well. So yeah, yeah,
- 19:52just all about you know, supporting small artists. That's a little known independent
- 19:59artists, Malone. Um, all right, as games Master, I'm gonna
- 20:03force you to pick one muse that you will carry into the episode as your
- 20:07inspiration, even though thank you so much for listening all of them. What
- 20:11you what You're going to take merch much stuff bye, much struggling right now.
- 20:18Also another struggling business. Yeah, lovely stuff. Lovely stuff. And
- 20:22finally we move over to our other Captain, Audre, what is inspiring you
- 20:26from fallout? I also have two I'm so sorry. Okay, we're in
- 20:30it now, We're in it now, We're in it now. Um.
- 20:32One of them is Brendan Hunt. Yes, he plays Beard and is like
- 20:37a co writer on Ted Lasso. Oh so co writer and ted Lasso.
- 20:41I looked at his history, like has done shows at Edinburgh Fringe, He's
- 20:45won Hollywood Fringe Awards with like comedy plays, like dark comedy plays and stuff
- 20:51incredible. I was going to ask you, guys to guess who he was
- 20:55in the Fallout universe dog meat, I know, so I'm not going to
- 21:00answer. He's them the radio host, the really timid radio host. Do
- 21:07you like, get confidence too in one of the things and get him a
- 21:10date with Scarlet Fall. Yeah, And he's just the voice of that.
- 21:15And I was just listening to some of those like sketches of him being like,
- 21:19I think they might have attacked here. I don't really know, guys,
- 21:23I don't know what's going on anymore. And it's so fun to like,
- 21:29now that I've seen ted Lasso and like some of the other stuff he's
- 21:32done, it's too fun to go back and be like, oh, you
- 21:34look at you go. But my other my main muse. I saw an
- 21:41article in the Guardian where it was talking about like the Open World is a
- 21:45stage essentially in Fallout seventy six, there is a theater troupe the Wasteland Theater
- 21:53Troupe. They stage um Shakespearean theatrical production in Fallout seventy six m And you
- 22:03got to do something in that game, right, So they'll basically like they'll
- 22:07hold auditions, they'll like they'll go through and it's just a thing of like
- 22:12they're going through a production of Romeo and Juliet and a scorpion the size of
- 22:17a jeep comes up and everybody has to stop and kill it, and then
- 22:22Juliet's dead, but we gotta finish the play. And it's just that brings
- 22:27me so much joy. God, that's so funny. That's some deep fandom
- 22:30stuff. It brings me so much joy to see this like Traveling Theater group
- 22:37because they travel throughout throughout the Waiste land, Yeah, putting on production.
- 22:41They actually like travel Traveling Theater Group. Yeah, like to like a vision
- 22:48a scene here in the style of like two thousand and seven machinima like kind
- 22:52of type of game play. Oh yeah, you know, Caesar like comes
- 22:55out of his uh his fucking power armor TCC power arm. Yes, sorry,
- 23:02yess that's right, and then Brutus comes up to him with like a
- 23:04fucking shiv and stabs him fifty times. Yeah in vats So it's slow,
- 23:08but that's what Shakespeare a lot of one as well. Yes, yeah,
- 23:15it's what you envisioned. Back at the Globe, he was like, one
- 23:18day this will happen in a multiple mult massively multiplayerut on mid row playing game.
- 23:23Uh that's I mean, that's good. I love the weird fandom stuff,
- 23:26where like a club is just digital And what year? When did follow
- 23:30Out seventy six come out? Approximately eighteen twenty eighteen. We say this article
- 23:37is from January twenty twenty three, so like it's recent. It's not like
- 23:41it didn't happen when it first came out and has since fizzled. Nope,
- 23:45fan base is strong. It kind of sounds like it's a little bit like
- 23:48cyberpunk and that it like really sucked at launch. And then I guess now
- 23:52it's i've heard that it's fun. I don't. I don't naturally know.
- 23:56I think you've only heard that from people from the Wasteland Theater trip though.
- 24:00Yeah, we're like we're having a blast. You're in a discord with a
- 24:03lot of them, and I do understand. I respect that. Hark a
- 24:08rad Scorpion. Wherefore art super mutant um. That's not that doesn't deserve that
- 24:21big a laugh. I couldn't. I couldn't even think of a real name
- 24:23from the Fallout series. Get a hold of yourself, Jesus, Oh god,
- 24:32awesome. Well that's a good news. That's a good, good little
- 24:34bit of trivia there of knowledge from the fan community. I love it.
- 24:40It's just I like to see people engaging. It is good and should we
- 24:42should we engage with some games? Should we do that? Right now?
- 24:48Right teams, your father has gone missing, You've been shot and left for
- 24:52dead, and your son has been taken from you. Phew, that's that's
- 24:55a lot for our protagonists. So let's head out into the waste lands of
- 25:00round one. Round one is called the vault in our starts? Does that
- 25:10work? The various vault tech vaults have housed people after the nuclear apocalypse,
- 25:17and they were used for a variety of different experiments and purposes. But can
- 25:22our teams recognize which ones really appear in the Fallout franchise and which ones I
- 25:26made up last Tuesday when I should have been doing literally anything else with my
- 25:32life. So in turn, I will read each team the number and purpose
- 25:37of a vault. Our teams must simply discuss and decide if they think it's
- 25:41real or fake. Simple. Oh and if it's real, I'll give you
- 25:45a bonus point if you can name the franchise entry that that vault appears in.
- 25:49So it's chance for a B. We will begin with Tunnel Snake's rule
- 25:55because they do. Here is your first vault Vault one one two social experiment
- 26:00in which inhabitants were placed in a virtual reality simulation controlled by the overseer.
- 26:07That sounds like one, doesn't A and D. I think I think it
- 26:11is. I think I can remember where it came from. I think it's
- 26:14a Volte three Fallout three sorry, where you're looking to see your dad and
- 26:18there's that that like that German guy who plays the little girl and the pint
- 26:22size slash. Wow. Yeah, yeah, I think now that you said
- 26:27that, I think you're absolutely right. This is probably a DLC. I
- 26:32think actually in Fallout three, see, I think it's part of the most
- 26:37storyline where you okay, um, yeah, I know Mac can sometimes be
- 26:41tricky with the vault numbers, so I don't know if that's out no,
- 26:45no, If if it's DLC from it as long as you name the main
- 26:48title it's from which right here you have, you've got two points. It
- 26:52is a real vault and it's from Fallout three. Nice excellent, good start,
- 26:56yeah, good start, strong strong See how the tunnel Snakes suck fair
- 27:03in their opening vault here it is Vault twenty two Research facility studying and creating
- 27:11genetically modified crops and flora. Yeah, that was in New Vegas. I'm
- 27:15pretty I'm pretty sure. No deliberation, no discussion, no podcast content.
- 27:22I literally just got the prompt for it in my New Vegas replay. Its
- 27:27Vault twenty two, and a doctor wants you to go and people keep dying
- 27:34when they go there, and you have to like fight these weird like grass
- 27:37monsters. That's yep, that's the one that's Are you happy with all that?
- 27:41Yeah? If they weren't doing some kind of agricultural experiment in one of
- 27:45the vaults, it was honestly a waste for science, if they weren't doing
- 27:49anything with crops and it. And it is indeed New Vegas, so two
- 27:52points. Hell yeah, strong stop for a tunnel Snakes suck. This is
- 28:00gonna get confusing because I'm just going to refer to both teams as tunnel snakes.
- 28:03Yeah, we didn't really think about this. Okay, back over to
- 28:07the tunnel snakes rule. Maybe I say rule and sucks, right, maybe
- 28:11that's what I say. I'm just going to keep saying suck, just like
- 28:14at weird intervals throughout the whole podcast. I don't remember, you know.
- 28:19Yes, Yeah, then just say snakes with a bit more enthusiasm because we're
- 28:23saying that the rule, whereas I think the other ones are having a bit
- 28:26of an identity crisis. Yeah, you're confident. Just the tone, the
- 28:33tone is going to communicate which, okay you're talking about all right, So
- 28:36over to tunnel snakes rule. That's me sounding confident. Here is your next
- 28:41vaults. Vaults one oh seven a social experiment when nine hundred and ninety nine
- 28:48devout theists were placed in a vault with one famous atheist who was made overseer.
- 28:55I think because I put my finger up in excitement and thinking that I
- 29:00knew this one. But I think that has done a tricky thing here.
- 29:04I think there's one vault and it's disgusting, but it's nine ninety nine men
- 29:10and one woman, or vice versa. It's it's that vault. So this
- 29:12is a fake vault because Matt's being tricky. Do you agree, Andy,
- 29:17I do. I think the only one that I know of where they put
- 29:19faiths in is I think I've got it right, Isn't it? Isn't that
- 29:22where like the Cans, the Vipers, and the jackals came from, because
- 29:26they put like Moti in this like hot pot of the vault, and then
- 29:32out came the Cans, vipers, and the jackals. So I think Matt
- 29:34pull a fast one here by saying I can't even pronounce the word that you
- 29:40said that Theers and Theesians and the yeah saying fake, Yeah, it is
- 29:48fake. And between the two of you, you've explained the two that I've
- 29:52kind of mashed together here. And I also like the hot pot is the
- 29:56Northern way of saying melting pot. I love that so much I'm going to
- 30:00start using that. We live in a hot part of a society. Oh
- 30:03it's also a delicious meal as well, it's as good. Yeah, that's
- 30:10gonna be one point for for correctly getting thats a fake? Excellent. Weren't
- 30:12there two vaults, one with nine men in one woman and then one with
- 30:18nine nine nine women and one man to see what would happen, and one
- 30:23of them was harmony and peace and involvement and the other they lasted four days.
- 30:32You get to guess which ones are which Oh yeah, yeah yeah,
- 30:34if based on your opinions, fill in which one you think it is.
- 30:37I see, Okay, okay, moving on over to Tunnel Snake Suck Vaults
- 30:44ninety five, social and medical experiment in which addicts were given experimental rehabilitation treatments
- 30:52and encouraged to remain clean, then informed of a secret stash of chems.
- 30:57That was just Adam giving Chris game. That's what I'm pretty sure that was
- 31:03in Fallout four, Um, because you have to take one of the NPC's
- 31:08because she wants to get clean from drugs, and you have to like fight
- 31:12your way through that through a bold okay of sober people so I don't remember,
- 31:18Yeah, you have to you have to kill all the sober people to
- 31:23get to the stash of the drugs at the end to become the alpha sober
- 31:29all the other That's that's what the thirteenth step is, so I being I
- 31:33don't totally remember the purpose of that fault, but that's like a drug themed
- 31:37one. Yeah, you have more knowledge than me, and there's something that
- 31:41makes that links them. So I'm gonna go. Let's go true you're saying,
- 31:47and as we hurt fall Out full Yes, yeah, you're right on
- 31:49both counts. Yeah, this is real and from Fallout fall two points.
- 31:52Hell yeah, killing it so far. I need you guys to not kill
- 31:56it. Go all tunnel snakes. You know, maybe by the end you'll
- 32:07all be unified as one feat against me. It will just be tunnel snakes.
- 32:15Honestly, it's like we someone graffiti the words tunnel snakes suck on the
- 32:19wall and it's us just reading it. Tunnel snakes suck. We've been on
- 32:24the same team the whole time. Okay, let's have another question for tunnel
- 32:28snakes rule here. It is Vault one oh eight, social experiments studying effects
- 32:35of leadership conflicts. Most management positions were to be filled by a terminally ill
- 32:39overseer, and the vault was also provided with a cloning device. That sounds
- 32:45vaguely familiar. Mum, Yeah, I'm too sure on this one. Yeah,
- 32:53I am recalling one vault that has something to do with a terminally ill
- 32:59overseer or a changing of the guard a lot, because because you get to
- 33:02read the documents and so and so worth and that's that's part of the great
- 33:06exploration. I don't know if the entire point of it was for like a
- 33:09like a failed leadership experiment or more over cloning experiment, because I thought one
- 33:15was maybe about failed leadership. Is maybe where I'm going with this. I
- 33:17don't know. I vague memories of this though. The only one I can
- 33:21think of, um where like the purposely chose like a terrible leader, was
- 33:25the one where you get like Nick Valentine from and you get to listen to
- 33:29holid tape and there's like really lords of suitable candidates and then there's like,
- 33:32I can't I think he's called someone like tinfoils something. I can't remember,
- 33:37Tinfoil Harry, and he's like, oh, like a bug in the water,
- 33:42and can you start, Yeah, just like how our presidents have chosen
- 33:51process. Yes, Oh man, I'm gonna say there's a lot of the
- 33:55good words in there that would make this plausible, but I think i'd leaned
- 34:00towards it being fake. Yeah, yeah, saying fake for this one,
- 34:06we'll fake real. Oh sorry, sorry, sorry, so sorry, but
- 34:10I heard fake from both of you. If I if I said the name
- 34:15Gary to you, would that mean anything? Oh? The clouding, all
- 34:22the all the Garies. Yeah, this is Fallout three. It's fans will
- 34:28know it as the vault with all the Garies. Yeah. Yeah, and
- 34:30don't they say their name because they're like dumb. Yeah Gary, Gary,
- 34:36Gary? Which one was that from? That was from Fallout three? Yeah?
- 34:42Shit, that was good, Matt. Yeah. I think we overlooked
- 34:45and completely didn't we We got two bogged down with the leadership element. Yeah.
- 34:50Yeah, I was a little chipsy with the wording there. It's just
- 34:52a meme. Vault, God damn you. Yeah. Sometimes it's easy to
- 34:57oversee these things. Ready, makes sense? Okay, back on over to
- 35:00tunnel snakes. Suck. That's good. It's so tough to do. I
- 35:07will, I'll change the name. I really, I'm just going to start
- 35:12saying rules and suck. Good, Okay, snappy, I'm going to turn
- 35:16to my wife and say, suck. Here's your vault. Vault fifty nine
- 35:24a zoological research facility in which inhabitants were tasked with the rering of pezz of
- 35:30small mammals in order to find the ideal companion for man. I this is
- 35:37not ringing any bells. Yeah, it doesn't ring any bells for me.
- 35:42Do you remember any person? Because it feels like someone would have a weird
- 35:45companion animal if this were true, for sure, they would not squander that
- 35:51opportunity. And that that seems like too good of an experiment for Vault Tech.
- 35:57Like, what's it's their purpose in finding the best? It's too pure,
- 36:02that's yeah, it's too pure of a thing for Vault Tech. It
- 36:06feels like but I feel like they did something with with like animals or some
- 36:09shit where they like put a bunch of animals in one But I don't think
- 36:15that this specific thing happened, Okay, saying saya, yes, fake,
- 36:22Yes, this one is fake. Oh I made it up based on Yeah,
- 36:25there's one with animals that isn't quite like this, and there was a
- 36:29scrapped one to do with like that was similar to Noah's Ark with like pairs
- 36:31of animals and stuff, but that never made it into any of the games.
- 36:36So oh, okay, that'll be a point there. Dang, I've
- 36:39got one final vault for each pair. Here we go, rule, here's
- 36:45your vault vault fifty six, a social experiment where the only entertainment tapes provided
- 36:52to the vault were the works of a particularly untalented comedian. I think I
- 36:57know this, Jason. I don't think this is Cannon. I don't think
- 37:02it's you see. I don't think you see the vault anywhere. But I
- 37:07think it's definitely referenced. But I don't think it's it's not when you can
- 37:10go into it's not when you can plain. But I think it's somewhere in
- 37:15like the archives that you can get a bit of understanding on the vaults.
- 37:19And I'm pretty confident that. But then I don't orders that count if it's
- 37:22not in the game. I'll read the thing. It's a franchise entry,
- 37:28is what I said. It's this, it's this fault within a franchise entry.
- 37:30This guy. Then it was in a comic book. Yeah, I'd
- 37:36I'd like to stake on redemption on it. Yes, okay, okay,
- 37:40Yeah, I'm so good about Jason Smith. Yeah, I'm yeah, you're
- 37:44gonna get a point because this is Cannon. This is this is real.
- 37:49But can you can you tell me where it appears? Um, it's a
- 37:52little tricksy, this one I think it is. Is it Fallout three?
- 37:59Let's they fall out? Well, he's saying hold on, hold on before
- 38:00we locked mmy, he's saying it's tricksy. So we've never discussed one or
- 38:05two, nor shelter nor seventy six. Oh, how do you remember hearing
- 38:14it from? I don't. I don't remember. I don't remember, not
- 38:17at all. I think, yeah, maybe it might be one of the
- 38:22more obscure ones. Um podcast, there's a Fallout scripted podcast, and that's
- 38:29all it is is the bad tapes that I mean, great idea, Bethesda,
- 38:32do it now. I'd listen to that podcast. Um, I swear
- 38:37to it's three No, and it's not three either. I'll take both answers.
- 38:40It's not either. It's from the official Fallout Bible, which contained a
- 38:45lot of things that the Wikipedia considers canon. So yeah, this was just
- 38:51a little fun thing where they gave out tapes that were just of only a
- 38:54very unfunny comedian. They kind of insinuate in the writing that it's Jerry's I
- 39:00Felt, which I think is funny. So there we go. What's the
- 39:05deal with deaf eaters? I don't even eat you after death? Death close?
- 39:13What are deaf? Eaters are damn? Do you want to have another?
- 39:17We've got the edit it. Okay, one more Vaults for sucks.
- 39:25Here it is Vaults seventy seven, a social experiment in which a single person
- 39:31inhabited the vaults alone with a crate of puppets. I'm pretty sure that's real.
- 39:37Yeah, I don't know if it's in any of the games. I
- 39:39think it's probably similar where it isn't here, it's like in fucking two or
- 39:45some shit. But I'm pretty shit because that's so gross and fucked up to
- 39:52like assume that, like, oh yeah, I'm gonna wake up and it's
- 39:54going to be a full community. Nope, nothing or puppets. Oh shit.
- 40:01Maybe it's in a It might be in a DLC. If you said
- 40:05which game it was, the DLC four, I'd still give you the point.
- 40:07I think it's in Far Harbor. I think it's which is a DLC
- 40:13for Fallout four. Okay, well you're true four, go true four go
- 40:16It is true. It is real, so definitely a point for that.
- 40:20It is not. It is in the short film that was made to start
- 40:25promoting I believe Fallout four. So there's essentially debate in there, but it's
- 40:30from a short film called One Man and a Creative Puppets. What was the
- 40:36original phrasing of the question, And if it's real, I'll give you a
- 40:39bonus point if you can name the franchise entry that fault appears in. Oh,
- 40:45I thought you said like video game or something. No, no,
- 40:47sorry, intentional with the words and he mentioned that I'm tricky with the words,
- 40:52and I am so Bestard's it's true, But I mean, you still
- 40:57get a point for that one. You knew it was real, And that's
- 41:00the end of the rounds. Like I was going to make up more,
- 41:01but there's that many ridiculous vaults in it that it's like I could just include
- 41:06all the ridiculous ones and not have to make anything up. I was hoping
- 41:08to trip you up with those last two, but nope, we're on it.
- 41:13You're on it. So that's the end of round one. Let's input
- 41:15the data in this terminal and calculate the latest scores. It's a good job
- 41:21I invested points into my science skill. Waste always Christmas, always, always
- 41:30for those speech checks. A little bit of lock picking because it's nice to
- 41:34have some loot. Okay, tunnel snakes rule are on four points, but
- 41:37tunnel snakes suck are on six points. Damn lick, and we're a back
- 41:43door. It's still early. Oh yeah, still early doors. You're right.
- 41:46You're right because up next this round two, brought to you by Newca
- 41:50Cola Quantum Now with one hundred and twenty percent of your daily recommended sugar intake.
- 41:55See you after these non nineteen fifties ads. Round two is called Wiki
- 42:07Geeks. The Fallout world is expansive with characters, weapons, items, perks,
- 42:13and miscellaneous law. But can our Fallout brainiacs remember that law under the
- 42:17concepts of both time and pressure. Let's find out in this game. I'll
- 42:22give our teams a category. Our captains will then write down a number predicting
- 42:28how many things from that category our Fallout experts will be able to list in
- 42:32forty five seconds. The closer you are to that number, the more points
- 42:37you'll get. Oh and each category has a gold plated answer, So say
- 42:42that answer and you will score a bonus point for your team. Okay,
- 42:45so I'm not going to tell you specifically what the list is, but I
- 42:49will say this first category is to do with the people of Fallout so it's
- 42:53to do with the people of Fallout. I will get more specific with that,
- 42:58but for now, write down a guess. How much face do you
- 43:00have in your experts? Okay, you've both got a number written down.
- 43:04Yep. We will begin with Andy and Tunnel Snakes rule. Here is your
- 43:08specific category, companions from either Fallout New Vegas or Fallout four. This is
- 43:15main games, not DLC, just companions from the main games. And your
- 43:20time starts as soon as you say your first answer, So whenever you're ready,
- 43:22Boon from Fallout New Vegas. Veronica, Um strong dog meat Raoul Um
- 43:35Preston gave carry curry ury um oh, Codsworth nice got ten seconds. H
- 43:50m hmm. I think that's a Paladin dance. Oh right in there at
- 43:55the end, Oh lovely Stu. I mean that was fantastic. The knowledge
- 44:00on display. Yeah you got by my count nine, Yeah, forty five
- 44:04seconds. A lot of them from four as well, a lot of them,
- 44:07Yeah, a lot of them from four through a few New Vegas ones
- 44:09in there. Um, you didn't say the gold plate, did answer?
- 44:14I'm afraid I was looking for Rex Rex. Yeah, the best dog,
- 44:20the dog from New Vegas, superior to all other dogs superior to dog meat.
- 44:24Yeah yeah, okay because brain, because yeah, because brain. Yeah,
- 44:29it's a dog with a brain in a jar on its head. But
- 44:32great stuff there. But let's find out how many points you'll actually be getting.
- 44:37Jason, I put down four. You put down four. I didn't
- 44:40know it would be from two games. Yeahs, last time we played this,
- 44:46we did both bet high, like wildly too high. We're like forty
- 44:51three. Yeah. Well, look there was still lots listed than you were,
- 44:54still within five. So it's going to be one point, you get
- 44:57one point. Okay, It's not whoever's closest. No, I'm just awarding
- 45:00points based on how close you get, okay to it? Okay, okay,
- 45:06we'll have another list now for Chris and sucks. Here is your specific
- 45:10list major or minor factions from either Fallout New Vegas or Fallout four. That's
- 45:16tough, you got that, Chris? Yeah yeah, all right, Okay,
- 45:23your time starts as soon as you give your first answer. Okay,
- 45:27So, Brotherhood of Steel, the Railroad, the Institute, um, the
- 45:36Kings from New Vegas. Um shit, there's more. Uh, the Minutemen,
- 45:45um, fucking the powder gangersunners. I'm not counting. I hope that's
- 45:53fine. Uh, I got I got him, I got him five seconds
- 45:57just maybe, yeah, I got that's your time, that's your time.
- 46:01You got six? Pretty good? Pretty good. If it was a competition
- 46:07of which expert knows most, then Andy would definitely take the points here.
- 46:08But that's not what it's about. It's about the faith of captain ship.
- 46:13Thank god. So Audre, what did you put? Six? Crazy?
- 46:23Three points? A full max three points? They're crazy? The gold plate
- 46:30A dancer that I was looking for, also from New Vegas is the Chairman.
- 46:34I was looking for the chairman, which is Benny's group, Chandler from
- 46:39Friends's group. Yeah, I didn't know that they had a name. M
- 46:47What a lame name too? Gee? Pretty bad? Come on, Matthew
- 46:53Perry, that's his name, not Chandler from Friends. I mean he wrote
- 46:57a book recently. I should remember that he hates Keanurees. Yeah, he
- 47:01hates everyone. That man hates a lot of things. Um, could he
- 47:06be any more hateful? Full three points? There? Should we should we
- 47:12do another round? Yea, let's do this. Let's do this. So
- 47:15this time I will say it is to do with items. It is broadly
- 47:20to do with items. Will Jason have more faith in Andy this time?
- 47:23I don't want to. I don't want to correct too hard. That's the
- 47:28that's the rough. Oh, that's a lot. That's a big number,
- 47:30Jason, don't be afraid to be conservative. Yeah, or cheez or geez.
- 47:38I'm putting big faith, big numbers. There's lots of items. Stream,
- 47:42there's sticks, and there's glue and well, now, hanging a second,
- 47:46there's there's two already. Yeah, okay, you both have numbers written
- 47:52down captains. Yeah, okay, Andy, your specific list is named publications
- 47:59from four, like three or four. So this is this is skill magazines
- 48:04or books or anything like that. That's an official publication from Fallout four,
- 48:10three or four you can have so and there's there's a huge list that I
- 48:15have here, so huge, huge. So whenever you're ready, Andy,
- 48:20I will start the timer when you give your first answer. Okay, Um,
- 48:25I'd go first with UM. I think it's Locksmith today from New Vegas
- 48:34GROGNAC, the Barbarian Standard, UM books and publication, the Waistline Survival Guide
- 48:44UM from that both three and four out of that count step one publication.
- 48:51But I'll add to five seconds ont of your time. I think it's physicians
- 48:55today, maybe the medicine one. Boxing time times. I love it.
- 49:02A um m hmm. This is difficult, it's tough. You got ten
- 49:08seconds, Yeah, no pressure. I think that's I think that's be done.
- 49:13I don't do what's using in real life. You just collect those skill
- 49:19points and move on. Yeah, that's I mean. But I'm I'm actually
- 49:23gonna I'm gonna give you four because you said boxing times. It's close enough
- 49:28and it made me laugh because it's pugilism illustrated. But I'd rather read the
- 49:34boxing time, So I'm going to give you that one as well, just
- 49:36because I knew you could visualize it. You could see what was happening,
- 49:39that there was a boxing based one. I think that's the working class version
- 49:43of it. It's not the point. Definitely. Your gold plated answer that
- 49:49I was looking for is tales of a junk town jerky vendor. O Jesus,
- 49:54I apologize. You could have had Chinese arm training, you could have
- 50:00had US army the flamethrower. Astoundingly awesome. Tales is a big one.
- 50:07Tumblers today, picket fences, lacoife, there's there's tons, but you got
- 50:12four, But what did your captain say that you got? I'll put I
- 50:15put down a big number. Oh yeah, but don't I put eight?
- 50:20Eight? Yeah? Okay, well it's still a point. You're still within
- 50:22five. Still point cheez Alwise we'll get there. I would just find that
- 50:27the sweet spots there. Yeah, absolutely, what's been between four and eight?
- 50:34Maybe maybe tunnel snake suck? Maybe maybe the one dose who got on
- 50:37this one? Maybe ultras put a different You put the same number. No,
- 50:40he asked, what's between four and eight? And it was my previous
- 50:44my previously used sheet of paper. So hopefully you didn't put too much faith
- 50:49in me on this one. I knew two of those. I knew two
- 50:52magazines. Good thing, it's going to be another category. We've got another
- 50:57shot at this. Okay, here is Here is your category. Greek Chris
- 51:00melee weapons from Fallout three or four. But none of them that are just
- 51:07put on the hand like a glove. They need to be something that you
- 51:08hold, so no brass knuckles or boxing gloves. Otherwise we'd be here all
- 51:13day because they were like fifty of each of those. But handheld melee weapons
- 51:19from three or four. Swing a bowl melae weapons will go Okay, okay,
- 51:23I guess stabbable in some cases. Yeah, okay, okay. Time
- 51:30starts whenever you say your first answer. The Chinese officer sword obviously, um,
- 51:37baseball bat um, the super sledge, uh, the regular sledge,
- 51:45Um, Jesus, the machete um or machette, depending on how you um
- 51:55shout out to Danny Traho M ten seconds after you shout out, um,
- 52:05oh, a rebar club. I think that was that's at least a New
- 52:08Vegas on if it's a new one, that's all I got. Yeah,
- 52:12that's your time, and you're right the rebar club is in New Vegas and
- 52:15not in the other two. Damn, but you did still say five.
- 52:17You listed five items there. The gold plated one I was looking for is
- 52:22the Shishka bab. Oh, damn, the Shishka bab. It's so good
- 52:27it is. It's a good weapon. But you were straight in there with
- 52:29the Chinese offices. Solid can't forget this one. I don't know why.
- 52:32That one's just right up front in my brain. I should probably talk to
- 52:37a therapist. Well on the line, Hey, guys, can we have
- 52:44some room? Actually, you can keep boarding. I need to talk to.
- 52:46Actually, as a half Chinese person, I'd like to stay on the
- 52:49line. Shit. Okay, so Chris, you said five items, but
- 52:57moment of truth time ultra. I'm not cheating. That's crazy. Three points.
- 53:07Fuck yeah, Betty, make it right. I will put that together
- 53:15if you do want proof. I saw it said five. That's that's very
- 53:20good stuff. You just I guess you know, Chris, That's that's it.
- 53:22I appreciate you and not over estimating what I am capable of. All
- 53:32right, for this final pass, we are going to flip the script.
- 53:37This time. Our experts are going to guess how many they think the captains
- 53:42who know less about Fallout than them will get. But the hint is it
- 53:45will be something to do with crossover knowledge, so something that tests real world
- 53:50knowledge outside of Fallout. So just a number from our experts, we do
- 53:55halfs? Can we do? Yeah? I'm all done? Awesome, alright,
- 54:02I'm good, sweets. Okay, we will begin with Jason. Oh
- 54:07real world animals. The tape is mutated versions of themselves in the Fallout series.
- 54:14Oh, so you're naming the real world animals that have mutated. Okay,
- 54:20Your time starts whenever you give your first answer. Hold on, hold
- 54:22on, hold on, hold on. Well, I gotta rush you on
- 54:24that. Okay, all right, So we've got mole rat I believe is
- 54:30one. Uh, tarantula hawk is one because they are kasadors. Uh,
- 54:37scorpions. We love the scorpions here. Uh crabs I believe of some sort,
- 54:45uh brad scrabs? Uh? Are there other flying creatures? Is there
- 54:52are like a bat of some sort? What is the deaf claw? Is
- 54:53that a lizard? Is that a dog? Is that you're saying lots of
- 54:57rex of some sort? Oh? God, I haven't played this game so
- 55:02long. Man is an animal? Matt the deadliest animal of the deadliest man.
- 55:13I'm not going to cow that one. But you did less six?
- 55:15You said six of them? God? Absolutely? Oh and not only that,
- 55:21but worth a bonus points the terrechela hawk. I had crab crab.
- 55:28So you're getting a bonus point for crab for sure, thank god. But
- 55:30let's find out how many points you'll actually be getting. Andy, What did
- 55:34you write down? Fine, that's worth two points. That's good six.
- 55:39Andy much better at predicting Jason than Jason is predicting Andy. It's all over
- 55:45the place. I don't go eight. It was so big. I knew
- 55:46it was so big. I appreciate the confidence though. It was a good
- 55:50boot, thank you. Yeah. And apparently the death claw is a chameleon,
- 55:55a mutated chameleon, according to the Wikipedia. So there we go,
- 55:59and sad one as well, Jess, and you said, well, animal
- 56:01flies, and I was singing fly something. That's what I had to you.
- 56:09Yeah. Something I really like in the Fallout universe is a lot of
- 56:15those animals would genuinely be really resistant to radiation, like cockroaches, damn cockroaches
- 56:22or scorpions and even naked mole rats. They're studying them for cancer research because
- 56:27they just are unaffected by radiation. They cannot get cancer. They're just like
- 56:31m They're one of the only fleshy creatures because bugs, a lot of bugs
- 56:37are luck It's it's a bit Joe Rogan. But if you want to kill
- 56:39cancer, eat a mule, right, I guess we're not that type of
- 56:44podkay, Yes, sorry, sprinkle it with turm and then you go run
- 56:46the hills. Oh hi, Joe, welcome to the podcast. Have you
- 56:52ever tried jiu jitsu? I'm not about that life anymore. Guys, Okay,
- 57:00I'm performed. Sorry for calling you out, So we will move over
- 57:07to our final list for Audra musical artists who appear on the radio in the
- 57:12Fallout series. I'm feeling kind of confident because there's one. There's one radio
- 57:21station, the Diamond City Radio station. They thought it's like the forties,
- 57:25So I'm just going to name a bunch of like forties and early fifties.
- 57:30All right, Your time stops whenever you start listing things Andrew's sisters, Billie
- 57:36Holiday, Nat King, Cole Being Crosby, Oh, Danny Kay, Glenn
- 57:45millerists, um ah, and then I and then I exhausted my knowledge.
- 57:59Fuck, there's some there's somebody else sneaking in at the end is ink.
- 58:04There's something about ink. Yeah, I mean yeah, you are right,
- 58:07it's the ink spots. Okay, I'm not gonna give you it though,
- 58:12because you just said something about ink, Andy something, it's relevant. Shall
- 58:17let me just check my massive list of forty names. Andy s who's like
- 58:22a big band. I don't think he sang. Yeah, I'm not seeing
- 58:25that one. They say, Glenn Miller. The time's over. Yeah,
- 58:28yeah, the time's up. But you did by my account, your name
- 58:30six. You didn't get the goal plate answer, which was Louis Armstrong.
- 58:36Oh I was looking forward. I think to myself, what a wonderful world?
- 58:38What do we find ourselves in? But you said six, Chris,
- 58:43what number did you have written down? Oh? Oh, you can't really
- 58:46see it. It's seven seven fall out seven and six seventy six. Hey,
- 58:53okay, so that's two points, two points the Tunnel Snakes suck.
- 58:59It's a sign where to start playing follow seventy six. Now we have to
- 59:02we all have to get it together and play it all together. No Audra
- 59:10shutting that inevitability down. Fine, whatever, y'all can do what you are.
- 59:17Okay, that's the end of the round. Let's ask one of our
- 59:21companions to calculate the scores while they're a dog, a supermutant and a floating
- 59:25radio. So that'd be a waste of time. Here are the scores.
- 59:30I've got them here. Tunnel Snakes rule are on ten points. The Tunnel
- 59:34Snakes Suck are in the lead with fourteen points. Okay, I thought the
- 59:37lead was going to be more. If I'm gonna be on I think it
- 59:39was that goal plated answer. It was saying crab that honestly has put your
- 59:44back up there. It's always Crab's always crabs. Round three next, but
- 59:47first we've got to play another set of smart ads. Strangely, they didn't
- 59:52have smart ads in twenty seventy six. Maybe they're the thing protecting us from
- 59:55nuclear war. So quick listen to these ads to stop the bombs from dropping.
- 1:00:07Round three is called IMDb Trivia, which today stands for Institute Minutemen drail
- 1:00:13Road Brotherhood. It almost works, it's so close to working. In this
- 1:00:17game, I will present our teams with a board of seemingly disconnected words.
- 1:00:22Each word corresponds to a trivia question about the Fallout franchise. Get it right
- 1:00:28and you get a point. Get it wrong and nothing happens. This is
- 1:00:31a fairly low stakes game. So here's the board. Oh it's not a
- 1:00:37butthole. No, so regular listeners will know that the last several had been
- 1:00:40a gaping anus. But the comedy rule of threes, I decide to do
- 1:00:45it twice, and we'll do it once for a callback later. This is
- 1:00:50just a regular board which I will read them out in case it's not carrying
- 1:00:52via zoom. So your words are fridge original Computer Governor Sound and raw.
- 1:01:05I'll begin with a team in last place, which just so happens to be
- 1:01:07tunnel Snakes Rule, so it's the team that has been going first. Anyway,
- 1:01:10Jason, Andy, any of these words enticing you? For me,
- 1:01:15Andy, Fridge is enticing me because I was a bit of trivia. Okay,
- 1:01:19Yeah, Bridge sounds like a bit of it, all right, all
- 1:01:22right, well Fridge, this is where we sink. Okay, here's your
- 1:01:28question about fridge. In Fallout four, when traveling around the Quincy area in
- 1:01:34the game, a fridge can be found with a ghoul child inside who has
- 1:01:37been trapped since the bombs fell. This is a reference to which highly scrutinized
- 1:01:42two thousand and eight movie ahead. Is it a the happening b Indiana Jones
- 1:01:47and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull or C. Hancock? We know it?
- 1:01:54Yeah? Are we both an agreement that it's b Yeah? Yeah.
- 1:01:58It would have been very funny if you said, are we both in agreement
- 1:02:00that it's Hancock? Yeah, there's absolutely it is Indiana Jones in the Kingdom
- 1:02:07of the Crystal Skull, where Indie survives by sitting in a fridge. Yeah,
- 1:02:12sitting in a fridge. I think that's not the only game that references
- 1:02:15that either. I think another Fallout game has it. It's like a recurring
- 1:02:19gag then fall Out you Vegas does when you've got the Wild wish Land perk.
- 1:02:23Oh, yeah, that's an indie in a fridge and you get his
- 1:02:27fedora. Yeah. I didn't know that. I mean, they clearly want
- 1:02:30to dunk on that movie, and they're right to do so. Okay,
- 1:02:36suck word. I could just switch to monosyllabic deliveries on this podcast. Suck
- 1:02:42word now, Yes, false, Um, it's raw. I sorry with
- 1:02:51your accent, I thought you said raw like R A W. And I
- 1:02:53was like, yes, it's it's raw like in the sound of an animal
- 1:02:58makes not raw as a raw dog. Appreciate Thank you for clarifying that.
- 1:03:04In that case, I won't go for a raw anything sticking out to you
- 1:03:08computer or sound, I'd be down. I'd be down for sound. Let's
- 1:03:15go for sound. Okay, let's get crazy. Yes, let's get sound.
- 1:03:21Here's your question about sound. In Fallout three, the sound that is
- 1:03:24played when a mini nuke is fired is also the sound used for what is
- 1:03:30it a The error sound used at programmers workstations at Bethesda Studios. B the
- 1:03:37tone used as the fire alarm at Bethesda Studios during fire drills, or see
- 1:03:43a bell at Bethesda Studios used to let employees know it's time for lunch.
- 1:03:47It's a bit of a guest, but I'm leaning towards A. I don't
- 1:03:50know what what are you? Yeah? A feels right because if it was
- 1:03:53the fire drill sound, what if it came out of someone's computer, you
- 1:03:55don't want to like, yeah, really startle someone. There's just some coked
- 1:04:00out programmer. He's like sitting at his desk for the entire time while fires
- 1:04:04burning behind him because he's like I've heard that. I've been desensitized to this
- 1:04:10sound in the game. Hey, justin how how's the fat Man code?
- 1:04:13Looking at it, I don't know, i'd go, yeah, let's go
- 1:04:18A. Yeah, sorry, I've just realized Fatman's the name of the nun
- 1:04:21a character and gain Sorry you're saying A. The error sound used that programmers
- 1:04:28workstations at Bethesta Studios. It's not it is. They used it as the
- 1:04:32lunch bell. Yeah, let them know it was time for lunch. Yeah,
- 1:04:36who does that? I know. Guess it's more the lunch bell thing
- 1:04:44that's kind of weirding me out at work, Like, yeah, the fact
- 1:04:46that it's a room full of fully grown adults. Yeah, I'm telling you,
- 1:04:50Justin's clocked out, man, He's he's coked out, he's overworked,
- 1:04:55he has no idea what to eat. Todd's on his back every day.
- 1:04:59Fair, damn it. Okay for words left on the board original outer governor
- 1:05:06raw, Thank you, Ardra. I was leaning towards I don't know anything
- 1:05:11about a governor, but I like the word governor. I find that intriguing.
- 1:05:14I don't know. Yeah, I was either going to say governor or
- 1:05:16raw and be honest with you, So I'm happy to go going governor.
- 1:05:20Yeah, Okay, here's your question about governor. When Fallout seventy six was
- 1:05:26announced, interest in the state of West Virginia peaked. But what did the
- 1:05:30governor do in response to capitalize on the sudden popularity? Is it? A
- 1:05:35declared the game's release date, November fourteenth, as the official reclamation day for
- 1:05:41the state, b named one of the main roads in Charleston, seventy sixth
- 1:05:45Street, or ce. He took the opportunity to sing take Me Home,
- 1:05:49Country Roads, the song used for the trailer. At one of his press
- 1:05:54conferences, Oh, man, B is too innocuous, especially if there's already
- 1:06:00a seventy fifth and seventy seventh street. Yeah, exactly, so if there's
- 1:06:05an actual seventy sixth street. These Americans just naming streets after numbers. It's
- 1:06:10so unarranged. Absolutely, I could see see happening because it's so cringe and
- 1:06:19it's something a politician would do. But I could also A is very cringe
- 1:06:24as well, for similar reasons. That's what one of the answers was going
- 1:06:27to be. Trying to nuke it. Um, well, that's that's not
- 1:06:32on the cards foot Day unfortunately. No. So the first one was naming
- 1:06:39it Reclamation Day in honor, yes, which is in itself abysmal idea um.
- 1:06:45And then C was singing country roads. Yes, yeah, ah,
- 1:06:50yeah, I think you're right to discount B. I think that's very sorry,
- 1:06:56But I do think it's very American. Like Matt said, to name
- 1:06:59you, yeah, it's very nonsensical. Um. Yeah, I'm happy to
- 1:07:03go with maybe. I'm thinking maybe c C Yeah, thinking country roads.
- 1:07:11Yeah. Yeah, what do you feel about that? Jason, when your
- 1:07:13your opinion on that. I do feel good about that. Again, I
- 1:07:16very yeah said that it's it's cringe. Both our answers are cringe, and
- 1:07:20that's what a politician does. I feel like a is very possible but also
- 1:07:26so asinine because that's so close to like a purge day, like that's that's
- 1:07:30like an announcing day like that. Yeah yeah, yeah, but c is
- 1:07:34good because it's that that nice level of safe cringe. It is. It
- 1:07:39is the cringe that a politician would do, but it's not the cringe that
- 1:07:42this politician did. I'm so sorry. It was a it was a name
- 1:07:45it reclamation day. Yeah yeah, yeahikes, sorry, board was upside down.
- 1:07:54Okay, governor is gone. You have original computer or raw? How
- 1:08:00do you feeling about original? I'm feeling good about it because it evens up
- 1:08:03the sides that have been selected. On each side, I have no other
- 1:08:11connection. We got to keep the board nice and tidy. So yeah,
- 1:08:15nicey nice. So it's I mean, it's pretty obvious that I'm NEU A
- 1:08:18divergent based on how this podcast is, but it's nice to play with fellow
- 1:08:23in your A division. No, we need to even this out. So
- 1:08:29the board nice and balanced. Here is original which one of the following is
- 1:08:33a genuine random encounter from the original nineteen ninety seven Fallout game. Is it
- 1:08:40A a blue police box in the middle of the desert that disappears as you
- 1:08:44approach it. B three people in Starfleet uniform that disappear as you approach them.
- 1:08:49Or see two blue tinted force ghosts that disappear as you approach them.
- 1:08:55The start the B sounds vaguely familiar to me, and like original Fallout fans,
- 1:09:02they're gonna be track E's all right, no shade jes Yeah, I
- 1:09:12don't know what do you like? That feels like the most likely because it's
- 1:09:16like a futuristic thing and like the starfl you know, they could come and
- 1:09:21check out this Earth, this version of historical Earth can do it. You
- 1:09:26guys really fucked up this one. This timeline but the timeline doctor who that's
- 1:09:33true? Shit, that's also true. Don't try to contain with Yeah,
- 1:09:41all the beautiful isometric features on a box on a on a cube, don't
- 1:09:45try to get in my head. Yeah, what the fuck, dude,
- 1:09:49don't even This is why the this is why the tunnel snakes suck. Okay,
- 1:09:57Um, well, Chris, you know those isometric graphics are gonna look
- 1:10:00great on a blue blue police box corners the perspective. Honestly, I'm down
- 1:10:05for whichever one I'm I'm let's let's not let's not let them influence us.
- 1:10:12Let's stick with Starfleet. St Oh you should have let him influence Yeah?
- 1:10:16Doctor who? God damn it, God fuck you, Jason. I'm thinking
- 1:10:23you would have been wrong completely blaming you for this. I might. Did
- 1:10:29you know that, Jackson? Nope? I did, and I was sweating.
- 1:10:36I was like, please please stop stop giving them the right answer.
- 1:10:44You could just rely on my defiance. Yea. All right, there's gonna
- 1:10:50be one final question for each team, and like all times in life,
- 1:10:54it's come down to either computer or roll. I'll let you choose this one,
- 1:10:59Andy, I'm thing then we do like Shrek and do the raw reference.
- 1:11:04Okay, your question about raw is Thus the rows of the death clause
- 1:11:11in the Fallout franchise have been reused, as werewolf growls in Skyrim. But
- 1:11:15from what animal did they originally record these rows from? Is it a lions,
- 1:11:21B tigers or C bears? Oh? My, I legitimately do not
- 1:11:30know this one. I honestly thought it was going to be something like really
- 1:11:33mad, like the a turtle or something like that. Yeah, like a
- 1:11:36chameleon. Yeah, so that's gonna be a tiny animals sort of like to
- 1:11:41try and you were way, but I'd probably think me, I don't know
- 1:11:45what it is with me and See, but I think bears maybe more likely.
- 1:11:47But that's how Matt works sometimes, isn't it. It is? Well,
- 1:11:51I know that Chewbaca's sounds going from a bear, okay, came from
- 1:11:57a bear? It was the sounds from Chewbacca. Is what a death clause?
- 1:12:00Is that what you thought? I was gonna say, no, but
- 1:12:02I know Chewbacca's sounds came from a bear. Does a deaf clause sound like
- 1:12:06a Chewbacca to you? It's one of life's greatest questions. Though. Do
- 1:12:15you want to throw a Chewbacca impression down for us just so listeners know what
- 1:12:19you're talking about? I haven't. Okay, Well then mm hmmmmmm. Yeah,
- 1:12:26I'm pretty good. Pretty good because everyone does like the Growley one,
- 1:12:30the gurgle, yeah, but I can't do that gurgle. Yeah. Anyways,
- 1:12:33Uh yeah, I'm fine to go to see because I have no fucking
- 1:12:36clue. Basically, not got any sort of one that you're leaning towards.
- 1:12:40Jason, No, be honest, No, not really at all. Andy
- 1:12:44bear bears as good to me as it is to you. Um, right
- 1:12:50now, Andy's doubting himself. Does it doesn't feel right now? That's the
- 1:12:55issue. He was hoping that something would feel. I like tiger because tiger
- 1:13:02is an underrated animal in terms of roars. We all, we've all heard
- 1:13:04a lion roar because of MGM, Yeah, that classic lion roar. I
- 1:13:11feel like tiger is like, what does tiger even sound like? It's not
- 1:13:15sound like a lion? Why do we go tiger? Then? Yeah?
- 1:13:19Casually casually going tiger? It is tiger. Yes, that's excellent. Like
- 1:13:28I think it's a bear. I don't like it. Okay, I'm holding
- 1:13:34up the board, but for no reason, because there is only one word
- 1:13:38left in that world is computer. So I think we're going to choose computer.
- 1:13:42Yeah, you know what, I guess we'll go with that one.
- 1:13:44Yeah. Yeah, I don't know, are you feeling anything else? Kind
- 1:13:47of? But you know whatever, it's fine. I'm in Fallout two Polo
- 1:13:53tapes reveal, which fictional computer is responsible for the nuclear war? Is it
- 1:13:59a how nine thousand B Max Headroom or ce sky Net? Well, my
- 1:14:05first thought was definitely how that was also my first thought, but like I
- 1:14:11it was just the also the first computer that I thought of, So that's
- 1:14:15all I'm basing that off of. Yeah, I just what are they referencing
- 1:14:21skynets from, like the from like Terminator and shit, right, I don't
- 1:14:26what's the second one from? Oh? Um, Max Headroom is the Well,
- 1:14:30the one that I know is like um breaking onto waves and it was
- 1:14:33just like a weird video of a guy who like broke onto the air waves,
- 1:14:36like the Max Headroom scandal. Bray Wyatt kind of parodied it with his
- 1:14:42new guy that he came back. As I know, Max Headroom is also
- 1:14:46something else, but I just don't know what it is. Let's go with
- 1:14:48how I Yeah, that's my instinct as well, and it was also yours.
- 1:14:54So that's always going to be right, even no matter what Matt says,
- 1:14:58because we're we're right, We're right. Our friendship that's what makes this
- 1:15:03right. Right. Well, whatever whatever bs Cannon you've just made up is
- 1:15:08fine between the two of you, But as far as this game is concerned.
- 1:15:10You've got the answer wrong. No point there. It was Skynet kind
- 1:15:16of undoing all of the law that is written about feuding US and Chinese governments
- 1:15:21and everything like that. There's a whole tape in Fallout two that's just like,
- 1:15:25yeah, there was a fault with Skynet and it caused the nukes to
- 1:15:27get fired. Oh but it is cannon damn interesting. Well fall Out too,
- 1:15:35you know whatever, terrible, It's fine, all right, that's the
- 1:15:41end of the round. Let's use mister House to calculate the latest scores.
- 1:15:45He doesn't like it when I push his buttons. Okay, well, actually
- 1:15:50it's gotten a bit close because the tunnel snakes rule gained some ground in that
- 1:15:55they're on twelve points. Okay, tunnel snakes stuck. Tunnel snakes suck are
- 1:16:00still on fourteen points. It's close. Don't like it, don't here for
- 1:16:06it. This is still anyone's game. But before we get to our final
- 1:16:12quick fire around, let's talk prizes. This episode. Star prize is the
- 1:16:16concept of war, because war, war ever changes, and we could all
- 1:16:20use a little consistency in life, don't you think. Isn't that nice that
- 1:16:24war ever changes death destruction. It's so good something you can count on,
- 1:16:28its dependable, dependable, love a bit of war. Okay, But our
- 1:16:35winning team will also receive a copy of Fallout seventy six, signed by Robert
- 1:16:42Oppenheimer. Don't don't ask, don't ask me how that happened. That's Killian
- 1:16:47Murphy, right, yeah, yeah, signed by Killian Murphy. He was
- 1:16:51very confused when I thrust it in his face. Up next is our crucial
- 1:16:58quick fire around. But first we must to play one final set of ads
- 1:17:01and try not to think about how they're selling you a lifestyle instead of a
- 1:17:05product. Yeah, the nineteen fifties never ended. We just stopped wearing poodle
- 1:17:10skirts. Our final quick fire round will test your broader pop culture knowledge.
- 1:17:23And it's called pop culture, but it's pop as in soda, as in
- 1:17:28beverage, as in muca cola. That's the linkier. In this game,
- 1:17:32I will give our players clues to a fictional beverage from pop culture history.
- 1:17:38Those clues will be delivered in the style of an old timey Fallout radio host,
- 1:17:43So I've got to quickly decide what that's going to be. Oh,
- 1:17:46and there's of course a classic gate Leaper's twist. As you say your answer,
- 1:17:50I'm going to needs you to say it like you're satisfied drinking it,
- 1:17:55so you need to follow it up with like a mmm, it's delicious.
- 1:18:00Just some kind of satisfied drinking thing. There we go, mister pib said,
- 1:18:06no one ever. Yeah, it's quick fire, so buzz in by
- 1:18:13yelling out your team name, which is confusing for the first time in Gateleaper's
- 1:18:16history. Tunnel Snakes suck. So I'm just gonna yell suck. I think
- 1:18:23that's the best practice here. I think we're gonna have to go with rule
- 1:18:26and suck. I have thought of like a pop culture drink and I can't.
- 1:18:30I was like, oh no, this one might come up. What's
- 1:18:33the name, what's the name? What's the name? And I cannot think
- 1:18:35of it. If it comes up, I'm gonna be so mad. Okay,
- 1:18:39well, let's at myself, not at you already stressing out. Here's
- 1:18:45an example for you. If I said, listen up, folks, this
- 1:18:48one's magic. I can't wait to find myself in hogsmeat this winter so I
- 1:18:53can have a tall glasses stuck. Yeah, it's gonna be Jason I think,
- 1:18:58mmmm, yes, butter beer. It is butter beer from from the
- 1:19:02Harry Potter universe. You can interrupt me at any points as I'm reading the
- 1:19:05question. Let's start the timer. Here we go. You're listening to kbb
- 1:19:11L Radio live from Springfield, any State. And yes, Chris buzz cola.
- 1:19:17Yeah, Oh, you didn't sound very satisfied that I can't point.
- 1:19:24I'm so sorry. It was the lag of zoom well played. I think
- 1:19:31it'll l act as a cautionary tale for the rest of this round, and
- 1:19:34I'm sure everyone will be satisfied by their beverages going forward. Is the next
- 1:19:39one. You're listening to a radio lost Santos, and when I'm cruising down
- 1:19:43my satires of American cities murdering sex workers, I like to drink a tall
- 1:19:47can of I don't know this no rule. Yes, Jason, hmm,
- 1:19:54that's so good. The way that grand theft Auto San Andreas Coca Cola's it's
- 1:20:01the right property, but it's not the beverage. Anyone want to take the
- 1:20:06team, want to take a guess at the beverage and the angry clock,
- 1:20:10Uh sucks, crime soda. It's not crime soda. Yeah, it is
- 1:20:17a sprunk. Oh sprunk. Hey, if you ever find yourself on a
- 1:20:24moisture farm in Tatowine after a hard day's work, store yourself. Yes,
- 1:20:29Chris, blue milk. It is blue milks, and that's the noise I
- 1:20:36make when I drink things, so you can you just because sounds a little
- 1:20:43sexual doesn't mean that I'm not still enjoying it. It's a kind of satisfied.
- 1:20:47So yeah, why if I were a young hobbit in an old forest,
- 1:20:53you best believe I'd be paring myself some of this. It even makes
- 1:20:56you grow taller. Oh damn it, Yes, Uldra or Chris, I
- 1:21:01was gonna do ent wash yum. I can't remember ent washes the river,
- 1:21:12So I'm not going to give you a draft. God, yeah, yeah,
- 1:21:15I needed to hear ent draft first. I'm so sorry. Damn don't
- 1:21:19ask me where this next product comes from. You'd have to go to the
- 1:21:23year three thousands. Yes, Andy Slum, Yes, drinking from the fallout
- 1:21:32mug once again pulling up my heart strings. I'd give you a bonus point
- 1:21:35if it was part of the format. It's like you were waiting for Sloan
- 1:21:40to come up. I really was I was not going into this. You
- 1:21:45can relax. You got one. Now, here's the next one. A
- 1:21:48drink invented by the ex president of the Galaxy. I'll be sure to have
- 1:21:53my towel handy to mop up any mess. Fucking house sucks. Not your
- 1:21:58team name but Shure. Sorry. Um, this is the one that I
- 1:22:02can't remember the name of, but I'm oh fuck. Pangalactic gargle Blast Yum
- 1:22:11yum is fine by me? Is a pan Galactic goggle Blast? What is
- 1:22:15it? What is that? Even from Yaks guy? Oh shit? I
- 1:22:20was like, gargle Blaster is all I can remember, and I was like
- 1:22:25glitching out, just like fall Out seventy six. Yeah, in a brand.
- 1:22:31In order to consume this beverage, you'll have to boldly go where no
- 1:22:34man has gone before. And trust me, after just one glass, you'll
- 1:22:40reject your time of awakening. Nope, I don't. I don't know nothing
- 1:22:45in the room. I don't know. I know what that is from?
- 1:22:48Yes, Chris Star Trek coat color. Yeah, No, this is romulan
- 1:22:58ale Ale. Where does that even come from? Gross a few track He's
- 1:23:05just being like, come on, come on, guys. Sorry, Star
- 1:23:11Wars fans and this I was I should have gotten the blue milk one.
- 1:23:15I was such a big fat star wars nerd that I was like, it's
- 1:23:19probably Jawa juice and Mats stray to trick us. Would he ever do that?
- 1:23:26The latest delicious drink from Giant Country, This green fizzy drink will have
- 1:23:30you feeling brilliant, fantastic and gay suck. Yes, Christ mountain dew.
- 1:23:41It's a lovely funny answer, but it's not mountain dew. I'll throw it
- 1:23:45off to your opponents. For Matt, what is going on? Nothing on
- 1:23:48this one? No, this is this is Frob Scottle from the BFG.
- 1:23:54Oh now now okay we'll move on. Oh wait, I Gregor in that
- 1:24:00movie? Was that a different Giant movie? Maybe there's a lot of Giant
- 1:24:08movies for me? I think was Jim Carey? Maybe? Maybe? Oh
- 1:24:13Jim once again. Listeners screaming at the podcast email us link in the show
- 1:24:18notes good promotion. Okay, God flashes before your eyes. Are you a
- 1:24:24Scottish time traveler from a mysterious island trying to win over your ex father in
- 1:24:28law? Then you need a glass of rules. Yes, Andy, I
- 1:24:34am bru yum yum. It's another good guess. And Chris and and that
- 1:24:41you should talk more. That's a good link in humor between your mountain dew
- 1:24:44and iron Brew answers. You don't know that they were very similar, but
- 1:24:45they're very similar. And by the way, you both know that iron brew
- 1:24:50and mountain dew are real, right, you both know that they're real.
- 1:24:54I did not know. Okay, okay, uh islander choice? I don't
- 1:25:00know. Do you know what? It's the same? Where not? It's
- 1:25:03from no time travel? Was the doctor who because this tenant Scottish. This
- 1:25:11is McCutcheon whiskey from lost Oh, I was trying to think of whiskey.
- 1:25:15But um lagavulin is they make it? That's real? Yeah, yeah,
- 1:25:20that's a real one. Okay, it's not. It's there's a few more,
- 1:25:23but it's not getting much easier. Let's go expect nothing short of immortality
- 1:25:28with a glass of this mythic beverage. This truly is the drink of the
- 1:25:32gods. Yes, ultra nectar, yea, it is nectar or ambrosia,
- 1:25:40one of those two Greek mythology drinks technically fictional unless it really all happened.
- 1:25:45Oh it did, then you don't get a point. Yeah. If confirmed
- 1:25:55book retroactive, Yeah, I'll look forward to that freshly brewed on the ducks
- 1:26:02of rifting. This family owned business bottles. It's I think I'm gonna go
- 1:26:09with Andy there. I think Andy is just like literally a second. Oh,
- 1:26:15I've got in my head. I know what it is. I know
- 1:26:16what it is. Can I can? I can I pick it up?
- 1:26:18No? Not, that is it? Honey, honey. It's rifted,
- 1:26:27Andy, It's rifted. So it's a specific one I think is what Matt's
- 1:26:30going for. Yeah, that's I'm going to pick it up as his teammate.
- 1:26:34You've let this head, I have let this happened before, so I'm
- 1:26:38gonna happen. Is it black briar medium? It is black briar? Yeah,
- 1:26:44yeah, damn that's right. That's right. Chris. You shut the
- 1:26:47fuck up over there. You're losing so hard in this round. It's terrible.
- 1:26:56Okay, and quick before the buzz the drink of choice for the Vada
- 1:27:00area, place a bet on this lucky beverage and build masks. Yeah,
- 1:27:05I think yeah. I buzzed in and then a panicked you got it.
- 1:27:13Nuca Cola yum. It's not New Cocola. It's why I panicked, not
- 1:27:17because I buzz. Okay, Eddie's got it. Then, Yes, sunsets
- 1:27:24Sasparilla Yum yum. Yes, it is sunset saspa yum yum. Indeed,
- 1:27:30and that's the buzzer. Damn Hoover, damn indeed that is from Okay.
- 1:27:38Before we get to the final scores, i'd like to thank our players.
- 1:27:41You've all survived the wasteland of this highly esoteric game show. Well done.

- 1:27:49a good boy. Together we can do anything. M Andy, you're hilarious,
- 1:27:56you're witty, you're fantastic. But I also believe you have a lovely
- 1:27:59dog named Maple. Where can our listeners follow Maple's journey? Yes, yeah,
- 1:28:04it's probably better to follow Maple than me on any social media. She
- 1:28:08lives in life than me, but she's on Instagram as the marvelous miss Maple.
- 1:28:15That is missin unmarried. She's an unmarried female dog looking for suitors.
- 1:28:23Because we do have a few male dogs who listen to this excellent well,
- 1:28:27put them into tell them to follow. Okay, will do, will do?
- 1:28:30Linked to that will be in the description Chris anything to promote any goodwill?

- 1:29:12Maple, the cutest dog in the world. And yeah, follow Jen's Instagram
- 1:29:15as always great stuff going on there. Oh yeah, I didn't say her
- 1:29:19name, Jen? Yeah yeah, yeah. Let regular listeners know who Jen
- 1:29:25is. The current gate Leapers champion question mark or did Drew take it?
- 1:29:29I think Drew Tuck. That's just the linear championship. That's a little little
- 1:29:34side thing. Okay, And a huge thank you to Ash and Adam Wood
- 1:29:38for their continued support at the highest tier over at Patreon dot com Forward slash

- 1:29:53Okay, let's get to it. Here are the final scores. It
- 1:29:56went back and forth throughout that quick fire around points being gained for both teams.
- 1:30:00But the final scores of this Tunnel Snakes Suck question mark Suck Suck finish
- 1:30:08on seventeen points m Tunnel Snakes Rule almost managed to catch up, but not
- 1:30:15quite fifteen points for Tunnel Snakes Rule. Yeah, which means Suck wins.
- 1:30:20I just like a moment to thank God, sorry, right now, you're
- 1:30:29going to be in the fist vault. Oh yeah, let's let's yeah,
- 1:30:36just just like that. The sodas really got me. Man, there there's

- 1:31:46this inspirational quote from Nick Valentine. Hey, chin up, I know the
- 1:31:50night just got darker, but it won't last forever. So as bad as

- 1:33:11like quick with it because like that. Yeah, there were some jokes.
- 1:33:14Man. I don't know if this was part of the actual podcast recording,
- 1:33:16but we discussed eggs in a bun and I just really yeah, that was
- 1:33:19just before we started. It was referring to a to someone with bold,
- 1:33:25a bald head and then hair that's coming slightly down the back that's referred to
- 1:33:30as egg in a bun as a hairstyle in the UK. Um. It
- 1:33:36broke Jason the first time we heard it, and it was breaking him.
- 1:33:41Now it makes sense, doesn't it yea and yeah, look if you're listening
- 1:33:48to this, please do follow Andy's dog on Instagram. It's dog. Yeah,

- 1:34:15nice to have both of those as well, both of those uh guests appearing
- 1:34:18on their very similar energies where yes, they don't they don't have their own
- 1:34:24podcasts. We usually have like guests who have their own project going on or
- 1:34:28a podcast or something like that. These are just two funny guys, funny,
- 1:34:31lovely guys. Was the love full out Yeah, knowledgeable, big knowledge.
- 1:34:36Yeah there was Oh in that first round when Andy was like, yeah,
- 1:34:40I think this is definitely from the game, Like immediately I was like,
- 1:34:43okay, we're dealing with some super fantasy. Yeah, which is good.
- 1:34:46I love that because I've played the games. But definitely the round that
- 1:34:51you had them guess a thing, yes, I zero one two, yes,
- 1:34:58you know yeah, I would got out of gotten very little not a
- 1:35:02swingable melee weapons would have been a bat yeah, big chain mate. Almost
- 1:35:12rock on a string, not on a string. Pool balls in a sock,
- 1:35:18if only, if only, I think there are poolballs in a fall
- 1:35:23out flour. Actually, so they should have made that a customizable thing that's
- 1:35:26on it todd all, Right, before we go, we should we should
- 1:35:30plug out Patreon, right, we should. We should say, hey,

- 1:35:40dot com with slash gate leapers. Yes, it's about the price of a

- 1:36:32gets pretty wild. So it's where we get Lucy Goosey. Yep, it's
- 1:36:35fair to say. It's really fun. If you like hearing me lose my
- 1:36:42mind over what I think is a hilarious joke, that's all that is.
- 1:36:45Yes, and look, seventy five percent of the time it is a hilarious
- 1:36:48joke, So it's it's all good once again. Patreon dot com foward slash

- 1:36:59time I chip them three fifty every month, it's doing it for another listener.
- 1:37:03And if you think of it like that, it's like it's one seventy
- 1:37:05five a month per person. That's a good one. For legal purposes,
- 1:37:09it is three three fifty will be removed from your bank account every month.
- 1:37:13Yes, for legal clarification, they tell you not to promote things in that
- 1:37:16way by explicitly stating that it is money leaving the person's bank account. But
- 1:37:20I believe that everyone we're speaking to as a grown up who knows what they're
- 1:37:24doing and can freely make the choices. And that's a good way to think.
- 1:37:28And that's yeah. Now if you absolutely cannot, you can still.
- 1:37:31I don't think we plugged this in the episode itself. But if you like
