- 1:27Hide me and hide my words and hide my thoughts.

- 1:34Jesus, and it'll always be about you, King Jesus.
- 1:37We love you and you are the banner over our lives.
- 1:41And it is in your holy and precious and powerful name that
- 1:45I pray. Amen.
- 1:49Well, let's start in verse one. And Paul, earnestly beholding
- 1:55the council, said, Men, brothers, I've lived in all good
- 2:02conscience before God until this day.
- 2:06So he sang that after the road to Damascus and after his
- 2:10conversion from Saul to Paul, he has preached the word of God.
- 2:16He has been found preaching in season and out of season.
- 2:20Paul has had a clear conscience, knowing that he was doing the
- 2:23Lord's work too. And the high priest Ananias
- 2:27commanded them that stood by him to strike him on the mouth.
- 2:34Does this sound familiar? Friends?
- 2:37Can you see how this is resembling how they treated
- 2:45Jesus? And don't be surprised when
- 2:47you're speaking for Jesus. If you are not treated like
- 2:50Jesus, you could be speaking the truth and Speaking of love and
- 2:55joy and contentment and peace. And those that are hostile to
- 2:59God will strike you on the mouth. 3 Then said Paul unto
- 3:05him, God shall strike you, you whitewashed wall, for you sit to
- 3:11judge me after the law, and command me to be struck contrary
- 3:16to the law. Paul knew the law, and he knew
- 3:18that this was not right, but he also knew that he should not
- 3:25have spoke out against the high priest.
- 3:29Four And they stood by, said, You reviled God's high priest. 5
- 3:34Then said Paul, I knew not, brothers, that he was the high
- 3:38priest. For it is written, You shall not
- 3:40speak evil of the ruler of your people.
- 3:44Imagine that this high priest is doing Satan's biddings and Paul
- 3:49still gives him the respect because that's what the word of
- 3:53God tells us to do. And we always obey the law until
- 3:56the law goes against the word of God.
- 3:59And the word of God Trump's every law in every land across
- 4:03this entire globe. And there is no government and
- 4:06there is no official who could ever get first place.
- 4:13We would do well, friends, to make sure that we learn the Word
- 4:17of God, own the Word of God, memorize the Word of God.
- 4:22It is the Word of God that has supreme authority over every
- 4:26single people group over this entire world.
- 4:30Friends, this is the finality. This is the supreme order is the
- 4:39Word of God and that is why it is so attacked and that is why
- 4:43people are so hostile towards Christians and towards church
- 4:48and towards God is because once you know the Word of God, you
- 4:54are blood bought, bulletproof until the end when the Lord
- 4:58takes you from glory to glory and the blood of the martyrs,
- 5:01the seed of the gospel, friends, don't forget it. 6 went.
- 5:11But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees and the
- 5:16other Pharisees, he cried out in the council.
- 5:20Men, brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee of the
- 5:26hope and the resurrection of the dead.
- 5:30I am called in question. So he pulled out the word that
- 5:36would have divided the Sanhedrin, this resurrection.
- 5:40The Sadducees did not believe in any of the supernatural.
- 5:46They did not believe in angels, in the resurrection of the dead,
- 5:49But the Pharisees did. And so Paul, by using this
- 5:54little word resurrection, he drove a wedge between these two
- 5:58parties and weakened them. 7 And when he had said so, there arose
- 6:04A dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees, and
- 6:07the multitude was divided. 8 For the Sadducees say that there is
- 6:11no resurrection, neither Angel nor spirit, but the Pharisees
- 6:15confessed both. It seems to me that the
- 6:17Sadducees didn't read the Bible, even the Pentateuch in all the
- 6:25Old Testament major and minor prophets in the law.
- 6:31These Sadducees were steeped in ignorance and it's no different
- 6:36in our day, in our hour. There are a lot of men who are
- 6:41preaching heresy and apostasy and I believe that these men do
- 6:47not even read the Bible. They're culturally minded, they
- 6:51are worldly minded, they are carnal minded, and it is just a
- 6:56profession unto them, and it's for selfish, greedy gain.
- 7:00And God sees through it all. 9 And there arose a great cry, and
- 7:08the scribes that were of the Pharisees part arose and strove,
- 7:13saying, we find no evil in this man, but if a spirit or an Angel
- 7:18has spoken to him, let us not fight against God.
- 7:20So they got it right friends, right there.
- 7:23They're fighting against God, and it will never amount to
- 7:26anything. 10 And when there arose of great dissension, the
- 7:31chief captain, fearing Les Paul should have been pulled in
- 7:36pieces of them, commanded the soldiers to go down and take him
- 7:40by force from among them, and to bring him into the castle.
- 7:45So what you're going to find here is that history tells us
- 7:49that this high priest here was haunted down and murdered by his
- 7:56own people. And that is what you find
- 7:59whenever you stop following God and start following after sin
- 8:04and self. It is stealing, killing and
- 8:06destroying is all it's ever going to amount to.
- 8:09And in the beginning it sure looks pretty, but in the end it
- 8:13bites like a Viper. 11 In the night following, the Lord stood
- 8:20by him and said, Be of good cheer, Paul, for as you have
- 8:24testified of me in Jerusalem, so you must bear witness also at
- 8:30Rome. So the Lord Jesus Christ himself
- 8:34comes to visit Paul and his jail cell.
- 8:40It's much better to be in jail with Jesus than to inherit the
- 8:48entire world and lose your soul. Imagine that.
- 8:55And we see that he was well pleased with what Paul had said,
- 9:02and he wanted him to speak the truth and the life and the way
- 9:06unto those at Rome also. And he's going to give him a
- 9:10first class ticket. 12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews
- 9:15banded together and bound themselves under a curse, saying
- 9:19that they would neither eat nor drink until they had killed
- 9:22Paul. Look at this delusional spirit.
- 9:28Look at this Antichrist spirit. Look at this satanic revolt.
- 9:35These men who were supposed to be serving God are serving the
- 9:40devil. They're going to murderously,
- 9:43blasphemously kill Paul for speaking the truth.
- 9:48Imagine that, friends. 14 And they came to the chief priests
- 9:52of the elders and said, We have bound ourselves under a great
- 9:55curse, that we will eat nothing until we have killed Paul. 15
- 10:00Now therefore, you with the council signify to the chief
- 10:04captain that he bring him down unto you tomorrow, as though he
- 10:08would inquire something more perfectly concerning him, and
- 10:12we, or ever he come near, are ready to kill him.
- 10:17So these 40 men had taken an oath that they would not eat or
- 10:22drink until Paul was dead. But it leaked out, news got out,
- 10:27let's see what happens. 16 And when Paul's sister's son heard
- 10:34of their lying in wait, he went and entered into the castle and
- 10:38told Paul, so his little nephew here is looking out for him.
- 10:43Praise the Lord, what's spoken in the darkness will be spoken
- 10:49in the light. Be careful what you say, for a
- 10:52little bird will take it along the way, and you will be found
- 10:56out. And that is God's divine plan
- 10:59and wisdom. Friends, nothing is hidden, and
- 11:02we must practice integrity with or without the monitoring of the
- 11:07state. We must give an account to God
- 11:10more than anyone else. It is God that we are
- 11:14accountable to. 17 Then Paul called one of the centurions
- 11:22unto him, and said, Bring this young man unto the chief
- 11:25captain, for he has a certain thing to tell him. 18 So he took
- 11:29him, and brought him to the chief captain, and said, Paul
- 11:33the prisoner, called me unto him, and prayed me to bring this
- 11:37young man unto you, who has something to say unto you. 19
- 11:41Then the chief captain took him by the hand and went with him
- 11:44privately, and asked him, What is it that you have to tell me?
- 11:4920 And he said, The Jews have agreed to desire you, that you
- 11:53would bring down Paul tomorrow into the council, as though they
- 11:57would inquire somewhat of him more perfectly. 21 But do not
- 12:03you yield unto them? For there lie in wait for him of
- 12:09them more than 40 men which have bound themselves with an oath
- 12:15that they will neither eat nor drink until they have killed
- 12:18him. And now are they ready looking
- 12:21for a promise from you? 22 So the chief captain then let
- 12:27the young man depart and charged him.
- 12:29See you tell no man that you have showed these things to me.
- 12:35So you can see here that their whole plan was foiled.
- 12:40It was all unfolded, it was unravelled, and these men were
- 12:48so delusional and they loved evil more than they loved the
- 12:51truth. And you can see how God makes it
- 12:54his business to tell the truth and to get the truth out, and
- 13:01that this man would see that they were trying to kill Paul.
- 13:06How amazing is it? 23 And he called unto him, 2
- 13:09centurions, saying, make ready 200 soldiers to go to Caesarea,
- 13:15and horsemen 3 score and 10 and Spearman 200 And the third hour,
- 13:23at the third hour of the night. So you can see here that he's
- 13:29called together an army of men to protect this one little
- 13:34prisoner. Imagine that, so they can see
- 13:38that this is of envy, and they are hostile, and it is going to
- 13:47amount to the word of God being preached in Rome.
- 13:51How amazing is that? 24 Provide them beasts, that
- 14:02they may set Paul on, and bring him safe unto Felix the
- 14:07governor. 25 And he wrote a letter after this manner.
- 14:13Claudius Lysius, Unto the most excellent governor Felix sends
- 14:18greetings. This man was taken of the Jews,
- 14:22and should have been killed of them.
- 14:24Then came I with an army, and rescued him, having understood
- 14:29that he was a Roman. 28 And when I would have known the cause
- 14:33wherefore they accused him, I brought him forth into their
- 14:37counsel, 29 whom I perceived to be accused of questions of their
- 14:42law, but to have nothing laid to his charge worthy of death or of
- 14:48bonds. 30 And when was told me how that the Jews laid wait for
- 14:53the man, I sent straightway to you, and gave commandment to his
- 14:57accusers also to say before you what they had against him.
- 15:02Farewell. So here you can see that Doctor
- 15:06Luke the physician is writing an affidavit in the form of the
- 15:12Gospel of Luke and then the book of Acts.
- 15:16He's wrote to the Romans here that Paul was innocent and there
- 15:26was nothing. You can see here in this letter
- 15:29from Claudius that there was no charge that was brought against
- 15:36Paul that was worthy of death or of imprisonment.
- 15:43So that is the whole crux of the whole matter of the whole thing
- 15:48of the Gospel of Luke and of the book of Acts, is that Luke
- 15:53wanted them to know that the early church, the Christians,
- 15:59were innocent and they did not need to fear them.
- 16:03They were not doing anything wrong.
- 16:05But can't you see how the enemy of God, how Satan uses all of
- 16:12this early beginnings to try to snuff out the way he's trying to
- 16:18get rid of it? Because he knows all the way
- 16:21back in Genesis that God said you will bruise his heel, he
- 16:25will crush your head. And that is what is going to
- 16:28happen. And that is 100% going to
- 16:32happen. Satan's head will be crushed,
- 16:35the rebellion will be crushed. He will be thrown into the lake
- 16:39of fire never to return again. Hallelujah, praise God, Amen.
- 16:45We look forward to that day. 31 Then the soldiers, as it was
- 16:52commanded them, took Paul and brought him by night to
- 16:56Antipatras. 32 And on the Morrow they left the horsemen to go
- 17:01with him, and returned to the castle. 33 Who, when they came
- 17:07to Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they
- 17:11presented Paul also before him. 34 And when the governor had
- 17:16read the letter, he asked of what province he was and when,
- 17:20and he understood that he was of Cilicia.
- 17:22We'll end on 35. I will hear you, said he, when
- 17:26your accusers are also come. And he commanded him to be kept
- 17:31in Herod's judgment hall. It's going to be from this
- 17:42moment that Paul starts writing to all the churches and you and
- 17:46I have hold of those letters and we can go and we can search them
- 17:52and read them and be edified and built up.
- 17:56We can be encouraged as we see Paul and chains bound as a
- 18:04bondservant of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 18:07We need to count the cost before we ever come to the Lord.
- 18:11We just need to know that God can do anything.
- 18:14He is unlimited. He can make the chains fall off
- 18:18and let you walk out free. But sometimes He leads.
- 18:25He leaves you in there to be a witness unto Him.
- 18:30You need to be OK with that. I hope you've been blessed by
- 18:35this amazing book, amazing chapter here in the Word of God.
- 18:42I know I sure have for you. I love you.
- 18:49I'll see you back here tomorrow. God bless you.
