- 0:00Five of our Bound Banger Management Fantasy hockey
- 0:02podcast. Woo.
- 0:04Wow. Ooh.
- 0:08Today I'm refusing to subscribe to your woos.
- 0:11Why? What happened?
- 0:12That was a good one. It was a real good one, but it
- 0:16hit it hit it hit the soul. I felt like jazz, like I don't
- 0:19know if I could replicate it. We.
- 0:20Can't refuse to subscribe when we're asking everyone to
- 0:22subscribe. Fine, kind of a segue.
- 0:25Welcome into Bangor Management, the fantasy hockey podcast with
- 0:28Jake, Josh and Kevin. Today is our Week 18 news
- 0:34updates and would you rather episode.
- 0:36Follow us on Spotify, Apple podcast.
- 0:39Rate US five stars on your own accord.
- 0:41Under. No.
- 0:42Pressure or you little pressure? Yeah.
- 0:48It's just a weird, appreciate it and it would make us happy.
- 0:51It's not enough pressure. I mean, it's actually crazy.
- 0:53I mean, last episode, I think at the end of it, I mentioned that
- 0:55like if you've been listening for a while and you haven't
- 0:58taken a look at the ratings or whatever and ranked US yet, it
- 1:01would be really appreciated if you did Scroll down on that
- 1:03Spotify or Apple or whatever and just give us a five stars if you
- 1:06like what you hear. And then so many people in
- 1:08Discord actually reach out. Was just like, you know what?
- 1:10I was listening for months. I'm always the Discord.
- 1:12Every day you guys are answering my questions and I hadn't rated,
- 1:15so I'm just gonna go do that. So to those people, we really
- 1:18appreciate you. Like the ratings actually jumped
- 1:20like so much after that episode. So I was actually pretty crazy
- 1:23that, you know, that happened. So if you listen, if you wanna
- 1:26be part of the community and the first of all, join the discord.
- 1:29I mean, that's the place to be, if not already there.
- 1:31It's week 18 of the Fantasy August season.
- 1:32What are you doing? You're listening to this and not
- 1:34in the Discord already. And if you're intimidated by the
- 1:37discord, don't be. It's literally just like
- 1:38community centre for banger management folk and that's it.
- 1:42So yeah, the way I see it, it's step one, we get more five star
- 1:45ratings, Step 2, question mark, step three, profit.
- 1:48And that's the stuff I'm excited for.
- 1:50So you know. Yeah, and on that note, I feel
- 1:57like all the Bangor management folk are really diamonds in the
- 2:01haystack, so. Pretty good.
- 2:04I'm noticing that we just have so much like just crazy
- 2:07vocabulary that doesn't make any sense.
- 2:09I think most of it is me. It's really, I think it is
- 2:12because I don't English half the time.
- 2:13But that's fine. I think people like it and it's
- 2:15just, it's authentic, guys. I'm just, it's off the Dome.
- 2:18It's whatever it is. No, it's I do it too, but it's
- 2:22something more intentional. Actually, Josh, I remember
- 2:26listening to that. I remember being like at the gym
- 2:28and being like, wait, that's not the saying.
- 2:30Like somebody commented on it and I thought that was funny.
- 2:35Yeah, yeah. And also on that note, subscribe
- 2:39to the channel on YouTube and yeah, that video will like and
- 2:42you could definitely see all of these socials in the podcast
- 2:45description. I think we're pushing the
- 2:47subscribers on YouTube. Yeah, damn.
- 2:52Yeah, in a in November. That was our first video.
- 2:53That's pretty crazy. Yeah, guys, we love you.
- 2:57Thank you for thank you for listening and for watching and
- 3:00liking subscribe and and the works.
- 3:02And let's begin with this really busy Newsweek.
- 3:06Wouldn't think going into the Olympics but it's pretty
- 3:08intense. Yeah.
- 3:09And I will say also like prefacing this, we're recording
- 3:13this like 2 days out of the, of the actual break.
- 3:18The break is going to be like from the impression I'm getting
- 3:21is it's gonna be like a mini trade deadline.
- 3:22Yeah, because there's the roster freeze, which is starts at, I
- 3:25don't think February 4th around 3:00 PM, which is about a day
- 3:28and 1/2 from when we're recording this.
- 3:30And the freeze lasts all the Olympic break.
- 3:32Then we come back from Olympic break and there's only like a
- 3:34week until the actual trade deadline.
- 3:36So a lot of teams I think are going to be making some moves.
- 3:39We haven't seen anything exciting yet.
- 3:40So I mean, we got some good news for you, but no, like
- 3:43blockbuster trades are Tommy Panarin still hasn't been moved.
- 3:46You know, Stevens chagrin. Yeah, but but so like there's a
- 3:49chance that this comes out and then you're like, wait, they
- 3:51didn't cover this massive Artemy Panarin trade.
- 3:54It's probably cause it happened after we recorded.
- 3:56We wouldn't do that to Kevin or to you guys.
- 3:59As much as possible but schedule wise and everything is just.
- 4:02I can't believe when is not traded yet to be honest.
- 4:04To me it's 100% happening before the Olympic break starts.
- 4:07So in the next three days someone will recording this.
- 4:12Now it's more like a day and 1/2 at this point, so it's pretty
- 4:14excited. This is like Reddit or whatever,
- 4:17whatever site you used to get your news, you know, like the F5
- 4:19is like refreshed and just like you just refresh, refresh,
- 4:22refresh every like the words is 1.
- 4:24They have like those kind of I'm hearing rumors of this and then
- 4:27you see like another person, like I'm hearing like shimmer
- 4:30rings of this, you know, like just say the damn trade already.
- 4:33Like we know it's happening and it'll be like this guy got
- 4:35traded and it's like to where? And then like an hour later to
- 4:37hear it's like, OK, what's the return?
- 4:39You know, considerations like he's like piece by piece.
- 4:41And then like sometimes like it could be over the course of an
- 4:44entire day, you find out like 1 trade.
- 4:46Anyways, let's get into some so we actually have SO.
- 4:48Where? Where do we think he's gonna go?
- 4:51Just out of. Curiosity.
- 4:51We'll talk about that when we get to the Panera in bullet
- 4:54point. Yeah, fair enough.
- 4:57Yeah. Wait, do we have learned from
- 4:59last time we do. OK, Cool, cool, cool.
- 5:02Alright, so Barry Trotz is stepping down as the Nashville
- 5:07GM, not health related. Everyone could, you know, I
- 5:10think everyone immediately was like, Oh my God, he's he's
- 5:12cooked, you know, and it's like, no, he said in his conference
- 5:14like, no, I'm good. You know, I'm just not, not
- 5:17great at my job. That's what you said, just in
- 5:20different words. Yeah.
- 5:21So I think that he just, I don't know, he decided that that he
- 5:26was done. Yeah.
- 5:26Retirement. I mean, that's super fair.
- 5:28Like in any league other than in most jobs other than NHL, you
- 5:31know, people are retiring, not doing something so intense at
- 5:34such a late age, you know, like not Lou Lamore, Lamore Yellow or
- 5:37anything. Morello Lamoriello.
- 5:39Yeah. So, yeah.
- 5:40So what do we think about? Does this have any fantasy
- 5:43impact, or is this more just something interesting that
- 5:46happened in the? League.
- 5:46I think this has fantasy impact. I just don't know yet which way
- 5:51it's going to swing because it's gonna be like, you know, he's
- 5:55stepping away because he wants somebody else to take over this
- 5:59next chapter of the rebuild type of thing, right?
- 6:02Or it can be, we're so close to the playoffs, let's get someone
- 6:05to actually know what they're doing to make moves for this
- 6:07team to compete in the playoffs. That would be dumb, but I don't
- 6:12want. To look at it, I don't think
- 6:14that he so he's essentially he said he's like stepping down,
- 6:16but he's gonna stay on until the next person has been his
- 6:19replacement has been hired. And from what I'm seeing, like
- 6:21their goal is to have someone buy the draft.
- 6:23But I don't think that I don't know if I necessarily expect him
- 6:26to be like immediately replaced. Like I think he's probably gonna
- 6:28finish out the season. So and in that case, like, does
- 6:31that mean that he's not going to be making too many moves because
- 6:34he's like, it's not really my my job anymore, You know, like
- 6:37this? I mean, he's not going to sell.
- 6:39Some guys should sell. It's just the timing is so
- 6:41crazy, right? Reporter treated like like.
- 6:43Literally on a game day. So they're, they're playing
- 6:45today and he's like, I'm out, you know, like.
- 6:48That's just suspicious though. I mean, these people are not
- 6:50stupid, right? They choose the specific day and
- 6:52time for a reason. So we don't know what that
- 6:55reason is just yet. I feel like we're gonna get a
- 6:57clearer picture when we have more information.
- 6:59But to me, it's just a smart thing for natural to do is sell
- 7:02off the pieces that they can get value for and then start
- 7:05building up the prospect pool again and retool or rebuild or
- 7:09whatever you want to call it. But this team is locked down.
- 7:12Playoffs. No.
- 7:13So specific it is, yeah. It's extremely like, it's
- 7:18extremely odd and like I don't know what it actually means, but
- 7:21I think overall Nashville should be a seller and they can get a
- 7:26pretty good return for the guys. No one knows what it means, but
- 7:29it's provocative. It's wrong.
- 7:32It's number one on our list. I mean, it's yeah.
- 7:36So I agree with Kevin's assessment though.
- 7:38Would you guys, do you have any like players that you're like,
- 7:41OK, this directly impacts this player?
- 7:43Like do you think like Stamkos, Marsha?
- 7:45So like any of these guys, are they like more slash, less
- 7:47likely to get moved or you're like, it's too ambiguous right
- 7:49now? This is just something that
- 7:50happened and to monitor. I mean, I think the guys who
- 7:52need value for the STEM courses and the O'reilly's, these guys
- 7:56become express sell highs in my opinion because I know they're
- 8:00delivering, but I don't know, a move like this means something's
- 8:03going to happen. And when something is going to
- 8:05happen, there's uncertainty, there's volatility.
- 8:07That means the risk goes up, the values go down.
- 8:09So if these guys get moved, they're not going to be
- 8:13producing what they're doing right now, in my opinion.
- 8:15So while they're doing this right now and before the
- 8:17uncertainty really kicks in, you get them off your roster.
- 8:20Somebody in our Discord said they traded Stamkos plus
- 8:23O'Reilly for Kill Makar to a team that was like, desperate to
- 8:26make the playoffs. I mean, if you look at the
- 8:30points and do the math, they're like, oh, you know, Marcar has
- 8:32been a little bit slower and these two guys have been popping
- 8:34off. Like if you're playing, you
- 8:36know, like that, you know, I'm not gonna say it's a Taco.
- 8:39League only time. People that really need quantity
- 8:41of help I guess. And.
- 8:43The only time that made sense is in the years when Stamkos was
- 8:47elite and Makar was not yet old enough to be in the NHL.
- 8:52That's what I would have made that trade.
- 8:53And even then, if it was a keeper league, I wouldn't have
- 8:55made that trade. Yeah, yeah, no, that's crazy.
- 8:58I I think for before one last thing, I think the main person
- 9:01that I think this changes things for is O'Reilly.
- 9:04Everyone else, I think if their likeliness of getting traded is
- 9:06the same as it was before this. But I know that Trots
- 9:08specifically said I'm not going to trade O'Reilly unless he
- 9:11wants to go, but O'Reilly doesn't have a no move clause.
- 9:13So that was more of like he imposed one on himself.
- 9:17If he's not the GM anymore, the next GM is 100% going to trade
- 9:20O'Reilly. So I think that that's the one
- 9:22person who who might get a big a big change here.
- 9:24But yeah, as as Jake was saying, let's move on to the next one.
- 9:28Elias Lindholm is out until the Olympics, until after the
- 9:31Olympic break with an upper body injury.
- 9:33Victor Arvidson taking a spot on power play 1.
- 9:35I don't know yet if Linton was missing the Olympics because of
- 9:38this. He just got placed on IR and
- 9:40there's been kind of no news about it.
- 9:42I think he's missing the Olympics.
- 9:43And as a Lindhome owner I'm honestly like it sucks for him
- 9:47and for the team but I'm just happy it happened now and not
- 9:50after the Olympic break because now he has like 3 weeks to
- 9:52recover and hopefully come back healthy after.
- 9:56Yeah, he's been such a surprise this year overall, and he's been
- 9:59a really good producer for your team.
- 10:01And the truth is that we've seen it before.
- 10:03Even though Fraser Minton has been on a decent tear, I still
- 10:06don't think that anyone is replacing him this year.
- 10:10Like, look, he's out stretches where he's been clear cell high.
- 10:14He was a cell high on our Bilo cell high episode at the
- 10:16beginning of the season. And then there's also been slow
- 10:20stretches. But he's definitely been
- 10:21dissenter to own not Marat. I can't even try or Minton for
- 10:26any long term so this is a this is a big blow in a way though I
- 10:30think it's almost the perfect timing fantasy wise.
- 10:32Sucks for him of course, but like you said you got back a guy
- 10:35with a stellar playoff schedule at the end of it.
- 10:38Do you think it's an opportunity to buy in deep enough leagues?
- 10:41Yeah, I mean, I like his playoff schedule a lot.
- 10:43I think he could be underrated a bit, honestly.
- 10:46Like the timing is actually kind of unreal because one is the
- 10:48Olympic break, assuming he comes back healthy after the Olympic
- 10:50break. It's great cause it's the
- 10:51Olympic break. And Boston has by far the worst
- 10:53schedule this week. They only have three games.
- 10:54So I'm like, yeah, stash him on IR, get healthy, take your time
- 10:58and then come back after the Olympic break.
- 10:59And you know, I'll just stream someone with a way better
- 11:02schedule. Was like literally twice the
- 11:03games. But yeah, no, I think Bilo, it's
- 11:07hard because people are like are smart about that.
- 11:10You know, I've been trying to be a bit sneaky that were like
- 11:12message people like for kind of like a week leading up to now,
- 11:14you know, or a week or two being like trying to buy their injured
- 11:17guys knowing that the Olympic break is coming and that that's
- 11:19going to be a couple weeks of no games where, you know, even if
- 11:23they're like 4 weeks away, that's only really like one week
- 11:25when you have that break there, right?
- 11:27But most people are seem to be pretty, pretty smart on it.
- 11:29They're like, now guys are going to come back and miss like no
- 11:31games. And I'm like, Yep, you got me.
- 11:33But if you can't pull that off, it's great.
- 11:35The way to go about it is if the opportunity is really there, if
- 11:38these guys are on teams that are not in the playoff picture that
- 11:41want to be in the playoffs, Like if the line home owner is like,
- 11:43you know, maybe 16 make the playoffs in your league and he's
- 11:45in like 8th place and he just lost Lynn home.
- 11:47Then he has to make a call of like, do I wait to see if this
- 11:51guy comes back or do I trade him to a team that's maybe in second
- 11:54place and get something that I know is gonna be able to produce
- 11:56for me? Like that's how you make those
- 11:57trades happen. Because if the guy is like, Josh
- 12:01is top of the standing, like he's not gonna sell in home for
- 12:03nothing, right? So.
- 12:06Yeah, on the note of the Bruins, Pavel Zacha is also out until
- 12:10after the Olympic break with an upper body injury and Casey
- 12:12Middlestadt gets his spot on power play one.
- 12:14Someone said on our last episode or one of our previous episodes
- 12:16that we weren't too hyped on Fraser Mint and even though he
- 12:19was kind of popping off and look at that, the two top centres are
- 12:24injured and he's still not power play 1.
- 12:26I think I'm who got bumped off bridge last game.
- 12:29These were the. Lions.
- 12:30It's Geeky. Pasta McAvoy.
- 12:31Arvidson Minton. For you, is that just what it
- 12:34says on on on DFO or did you like actually check the last
- 12:37game lines? Because I mean I.
- 12:39Checked on DFO the those practice this morning so I
- 12:42don't. Know maybe it's changed cuz I
- 12:44don't think he was on it last game, but maybe it changed as of
- 12:46this morning. But yeah, I'm still not.
- 12:48It's just they're playing so many, so few games on this long
- 12:51week and then I expect at least one if not both those guys to
- 12:54come back after the break. So not too hype on it.
- 12:56But as we record this like Boston over the whole Olympic
- 12:59Brave Wiki teen, you have three games, so it's one before the
- 13:02break and two after the break. There's way better guys that you
- 13:05can stream given just the quantity.
- 13:08Yeah. OK, let's go to the next one.
- 13:12Red Marshall returned from injury but then got injured
- 13:15again. Carter Verhaeghe is taking his
- 13:17spot on power play one. Another chance to get Carter
- 13:19Reggie off your team. Yay, guys, please trade him.
- 13:24He's not gonna be powerfully one on this team is healthy like
- 13:27even even without any possible acquisitions, whatever, he's not
- 13:31power play one. But also it's Florida.
- 13:33They're gonna convince like Panarin to come for league
- 13:35minimum, you know, and like it'll be even harder for Frankie
- 13:38to get power play 1. So I'm still firmly, I think
- 13:41we're all still firmly believes that of the get for Hagie off
- 13:43your team while he has value. Any opportunity to sell for you
- 13:46with power play 1 value, you try to get him off your roster.
- 13:49That's what you're supposed to do.
- 13:50If you selling your roster, you have another opportunity to do
- 13:52it. Don't miss it.
- 13:53Yeah, they should treat them. Like they might.
- 13:56Absolutely they might. Yeah, do you?
- 13:58Do you, Do you like him? Slash goes.
- 14:01Yeah, like if he goes to the Rangers and return some sort of
- 14:03deal, right? I think it would be better on
- 14:05the Rangers. Yeah, I think so.
- 14:07First of all, they have a great playoff schedule, but anywhere
- 14:09that he goes, I assume he's getting power play 1.
- 14:12I think the only reason he doesn't have it in Florida is
- 14:13just they don't like him there for some reason.
- 14:15But like I don't think that's skill or merit based.
- 14:17I think that's just they've decided in their heads he's not
- 14:19the guy they want there and so he just never will be.
- 14:22I think on any other team that's training for him, he's probably
- 14:24going to be powerfully 1. Though.
- 14:28For sure, yeah. But I mean, like, he's also a
- 14:30really good player. Yeah, like.
- 14:32He's a good player, yeah. OK, sorry, yeah, good player.
- 14:35But I mean, I think he could be really good if he was given a
- 14:37more opportunity. Like, I know Bennett's been
- 14:39insane, but like for Hagie could be power play one over him like
- 14:43on on another team and another like you won't let you know,
- 14:46like, yeah, don't you put that in.
- 14:48No, no, he absolutely won't be. I mean, like if the coach didn't
- 14:51hate for Hagee, that's a completely reasonable thing to
- 14:54do, but it's never gonna happen. I'm not saying that's a that's a
- 14:56possibility. Anyways, yeah, get him off your
- 14:58team. On the topic of Florida, Anton
- 15:00Lundell is day-to-day with an injury.
- 15:02Erod takes his spot on line one power play 2.
- 15:04That's Evan Rodriguez. I honestly, Rodriguez, I kind of
- 15:08liked his shots face off wins combo this year, but I've just
- 15:12never really picked him up because I don't trust any points
- 15:15production coming from him. So I've been looking for those
- 15:17two things. I've picked them up multiple
- 15:18times because the shots face offs are actually pretty great.
- 15:21Like in an hourly specifically, there's nobody that shoots this
- 15:23much on waivers besides Erod. I think it's his points should
- 15:27be higher than they are. It's like with the deployment
- 15:29thing with Sam Reinhart. He gets really good minutes then
- 15:31he still averages like .4 points per game and it's just like it
- 15:34was like .6. I could justify picking him up
- 15:36but like .4 is stuff. Yeah, absolutely.
- 15:40Yeah, Let's move on to the next one.
- 15:42Brian Rust was suspended for three games.
- 15:45I originally had that Igor Chekov got a spot on power play
- 15:47one, but now it's looking like it's Mantha.
- 15:49So we'll I mean, that suspension is about to be done right.
- 15:53So Russ is going to come back, he's going to take his spot
- 15:56back. So it's not too not too
- 15:58relevant. I was surprised by the
- 16:00three-game suspension. I don't know about you guys,
- 16:02seemed kind of out of nowhere. It was, I mean it was like a
- 16:05head contact. So they have to like be strict
- 16:07about it. Not surprised.
- 16:09I think one game but. Yeah, no, that's I'm not
- 16:12surprised he got suspended. I'm surprised three games for a
- 16:14guy who like doesn't have like a prior history of like being a
- 16:17dirty player and like and look like you tried to murder him or
- 16:20anything, you know? But I think they also take it.
- 16:22Into words like less how? Hurt the other guy got and like
- 16:25best was like missing a lot of times.
- 16:27So I think they're like, OK, well we got the slap on the
- 16:29wrist. Gotta be a little a little
- 16:30harder. That's fair.
- 16:32Not like it's gonna change how many points he was gonna get
- 16:34over that time. Period.
- 16:35But I will say though, Brian Rust was my bi lo on this last
- 16:39episode. If you listen to it, it was in
- 16:41the cell high section, but it was actually a bit low.
- 16:45Viewers on their toes. Yeah, but I think I think as he
- 16:49comes back, like he could actually really heat up.
- 16:52So yeah, this this timing is really good.
- 16:55Since he got suspended, I think it added to the buy low right
- 16:57now. If you're listening to this, go
- 16:58check the Brian Rust manager and see if he's lowering the
- 17:00standings. You might still have an
- 17:01opportunity even if he's higher. I think the production has been
- 17:04so low that you can swing a good deal.
- 17:06I would really be looking to do that.
- 17:08And then Chekov, honestly, he's climbing up my watch list.
- 17:11Like the guy keeps producing when the limited minutes he's
- 17:13getting, I feel like he's due for better situation or better
- 17:16deployment than just minutes and that could be interesting.
- 17:19Yeah, recently showed the why it's been.
- 17:22All over it was holding him down.
- 17:24It was anchors and. Exactly.
- 17:26Do we have aerodynamics first, making the playoffs?
- 17:29We won't dive too much into this, but I think there's
- 17:31something else. It's crazy.
- 17:33Yeah, what a what a turnaround day.
- 17:35Yeah, I mean, throughout the whole season, I feel like it's
- 17:38been like they can't keep getting away with this, you
- 17:40know? And then like at a certain point
- 17:41it turned into like, well, yeah, obviously making the playoffs.
- 17:43Look who in their division, you know, you realize that.
- 17:46Like, I don't necessarily think they're that like, amazing.
- 17:48I think just everyone else in the division sucks.
- 17:51Easy. Like, look at like, like, third
- 17:54place right now is the Islanders.
- 17:55Islanders are not a playoff team.
- 17:57Washington has decided to be as bad as I've said they should be
- 18:00for the past two years. New Jersey, Yeah, Jersey.
- 18:03I don't even wanna, you know, get in on that.
- 18:05Like Jack Hughes, you know, bubble boys injured again, like.
- 18:08Bubble Boy. I mean, I mean he should be
- 18:12Bubble. Bubble wrap.
- 18:14Yeah, exactly. Philly, whatever.
- 18:17No, no surprise there talk. It just is toward a rela 2.0
- 18:20Yeah. And Columbus, actually.
- 18:23Columbus playoffs, I feel. Like, yeah, like I think they're
- 18:27the second best team in the division at this point after
- 18:29Carolina. Like, OK, now I gotta get
- 18:30Pittsburgh some respect for what they're doing.
- 18:31So let's say like Carolina, Pittsburgh, but Columbus should
- 18:34be the third one there. Pittsburgh just such a different
- 18:36beast once that they got Tristan Jarry off the roster and
- 18:39replaced him with somebody that's actually.
- 18:40Good Skinner's. Sick.
- 18:41I know, actually. Like do you think he's actually
- 18:44been insane? Yeah, it was a great really.
- 18:46Sally said it was we said it was a fleece for Pittsburgh just
- 18:50getting out of Jerry and getting any value in return.
- 18:52So the fact that they actually got, you know, value who's
- 18:55turning out to be good is just unreal.
- 18:57So yeah, no, definitely do think they're making the playoffs.
- 18:59Alright, here's the bullet after mentioned bullet point.
- 19:02Our tummy Panarin is being held out for trade reasons.
- 19:04He's played his last game as a New York Ranger.
- 19:07Alexis Lafreniere taking a spot on power play 1.
- 19:09Alright, let's let's get yeah, although he put up a three-point
- 19:13game against me, so everyone that that was once on my team
- 19:17that I play against goes nuts. But but no, I'm still not not
- 19:20too hype on him, although maybe maybe, I don't know.
- 19:24I still don't think he's good. But but yeah, Panarin, where is
- 19:27he going? So front runners, I I'm seeing
- 19:31Washington as a strong possibility.
- 19:34Yeah, Florida's in there. Although I have no idea how they
- 19:37would make it work with the cap. It seems like Canarian only
- 19:39wants to play somewhere. I mean, yeah, he only wants to
- 19:42play somewhere he could sign an extension.
- 19:43So and I think a lot of the teams are only willing to trade
- 19:46for him if he's willing to sign an extension.
- 19:48So that kind of works out on both sides.
- 19:49But Washington? I've been seeing Detroit.
- 19:52I think like, you know, hymns. And not all the teams.
- 19:55I think Washington specifically wanted the extension but no
- 19:58other teams for sure would rather rent.
- 20:00I mean, on the latest 32 Thoughts episode, Elliot
- 20:02Friedman said the teams that are in that are serious about giving
- 20:06him an extension are Washington, LA.
- 20:09Once they figure out if they're blowing it up or not, Philly,
- 20:13Florida wants to see if they can make it happen.
- 20:15They just have to figure out the cap.
- 20:17And then teams like, yeah, San Jose, but he said San Jose was
- 20:20like less, less likely because they don't know how much you
- 20:22have to pay celebrities. So it like it adds to that but.
- 20:25I feel like billion dollars still have.
- 20:26I think they have the most cap room in the NHL this year.
- 20:30So I feel like you can figure that out.
- 20:31You know what I mean? And they're, they're wasting a
- 20:33bunch of money, just hit the cap floor.
- 20:34Like they're like Jeff Skinner and John Klingberg, you know,
- 20:37like an actual salary when they should put like not be getting
- 20:40league men, but they just signed them to that so they could hit
- 20:43the cap floor. So yeah, they have the space.
- 20:45But getting Panarin, as fun as it would be.
- 20:47And look, I think he makes any team better because he's still
- 20:50an incredible player. He doesn't help them get NHL
- 20:53defence level defenseman right, San Jose specifically.
- 20:55It's just not what they need. They have a lot of good.
- 20:57Wingers. I mean, they do and they don't.
- 20:59They have a lot of like wingers that are passable.
- 21:02I feel like a lot of their wingers are kind of like, it's
- 21:05kind of like Chicago situation, right?
- 21:06Like a lot of like possible names but nobody knows *.
- 21:10Star No. I feel like Will Smith star no,
- 21:13for sure, no. I'm not saying that he's not
- 21:14gonna make the team better. I just don't think he's what
- 21:16their team needs. Respect the offence as well.
- 21:20If they're going to spend the assets and salary cap on
- 21:23something like a big swing, it should be a defence when it
- 21:26shouldn't. Be no big defence out there was
- 21:27doggy and doggy didn't want to go there so.
- 21:30Yeah, well, you gotta you gotta, you know, knock on some doors,
- 21:33make some phone calls and figure something out.
- 21:34But like, if you if you have like only X amount of money they
- 21:37should be spending that that Exxon on defensemen.
- 21:39Like they have like I'd rather make do with the wingers they
- 21:43have like they have Will Smith Aklin to Foley and they have a
- 21:46bunch of random guys who like have gone through really hot
- 21:48stretches, like Turner show was really hot Regenta, you know,
- 21:51like they have guys who can play.
- 21:53Well, look, I'm not saying this is the most exciting, like
- 21:55Stanley Cup winning wingers or anything like that.
- 21:56Like eventually maybe, like, you know, they might need to acquire
- 22:001, but they have a bunch of young guys who can grow into it.
- 22:02They don't have anyone in defence really who could like
- 22:05grow into it. They're gonna need to eat like
- 22:07either their future draft picks that haven't happened yet or
- 22:11they need to acquire someone. So I mean, look, I mean, they
- 22:13might do it. I still think it would be hype
- 22:14for me as a celebrity owner, but I just don't see it being San.
- 22:17Jose, I assure you that defence, like their defence is weak and
- 22:19they need better defence. But I disagree and that I I do
- 22:23think that a star forward like that is, is still absolutely
- 22:26necessary. I think they really need both
- 22:28and I think right now they have the opportunity.
- 22:30To get one. Also, the age just doesn't fit
- 22:32their window at all. I mean, yeah, how do you think
- 22:34parents gonna be $8 sign dollar sign next season or?
- 22:38Not next season, but I don't think they're thinking, really.
- 22:41They can make the playoffs this year.
- 22:42You imagine you make the playoffs.
- 22:45Yeah, they're not gonna win the Cup.
- 22:47I mean, they're gonna win the Cup, but still making the
- 22:49playoffs. They huge for their for their
- 22:50journey, you know. Why are you spending a ton of
- 22:52assets and a ton of money on a guy who's like win now now when
- 22:55your plan is to win in like 2-3 years?
- 22:57I think. And that's gonna when his
- 22:59contract is gonna look the. Worst, I think when your team is
- 23:01young like this, getting playoff experience is super valuable.
- 23:03It also shows the team that you're invested and that you're
- 23:05making moves forward. Imagine being like, we're not
- 23:08gonna make the playoffs until we're ready to win the Cup.
- 23:10Like, you can't plan it like that, you know?
- 23:12I don't think they need Panera to make the playoffs and I don't
- 23:15think parents gonna like like maybe he gets them an extra
- 23:18rounds, which is sick, but like it.
- 23:20Makes your team better teams. The players around him learn as
- 23:22well. I I I still.
- 23:25Think price is going to be a lot Yeah look, it'll make their team
- 23:28better and I think it would be super hyped to watch Panera and
- 23:30celebrity just like whip it back and forth.
- 23:32But yeah, we'll see what happens.
- 23:33I don't think they're talking about my Yeah, they're not.
- 23:38They're not top on my word. I expect him to go list.
- 23:40Like if I had to guess #1 I'd say Washington.
- 23:43That seems to be the one. The one I'm hoping for the most
- 23:46is I think Washington. I've been seeing a lot more than
- 23:49Detroit. And the one I'm hoping for the
- 23:51most, but I don't think it's gonna happen is LA.
- 23:54As a Darcy Kemper owner, I would literally cry tears of joy and a
- 23:58brand Clark owner. Like it would be just the dream
- 24:00come true. Power play.
- 24:03Kenny's not good of a player, you know?
- 24:04Absolutely. Although knowing Jim, Hillary
- 24:06probably put him in power. I would love for him to go to
- 24:11Florida or Washington. I think those or a San Jose.
- 24:14I think those are my like preferred destinations.
- 24:17I think LA is not a, it's not a horrible destination.
- 24:20I think Philly, I'd be super disappointed if you went to
- 24:22Philly. Philly would suck.
- 24:24Philly was literally like like talk.
- 24:26It's like I think on my list, I think.
- 24:27You need my list. We're talking about the naughty
- 24:30or nice list. No the the Rod Brandamore list
- 24:35for coaches who can't read Good. What is this?
- 24:44A centre for ants. You have to explain the
- 24:50reference for everybody that doesn't get it.
- 24:54That's it. Water Movie.
- 24:58Alright, that's alright. Yeah, let's move on that our
- 25:01time. Panera is so hot right now but
- 25:03yeah. He's really good at hot.
- 25:05Exactly. Alright Marty Niches Jakies
- 25:09signature sick is day-to-day with a lower body injury.
- 25:13Val Nichushkin takes a spot on line one power play one.
- 25:17It's just day-to-day. I think he might.
- 25:18I think he's probable possible for the next game or in two
- 25:22games. He already got ruled out for the
- 25:23next game, so not too long term of a thing.
- 25:25I wouldn't worry about it too much.
- 25:27Yeah, I also think Colorado is kind of like ramping down as
- 25:30they lead into the Olympic break.
- 25:31I think a lot of their top players are more focused on that
- 25:34than the games at hand. It seems like because this is
- 25:36the worst stretch we've seen from them.
- 25:38The Habs like brutalized them, if that.
- 25:40That was awesome is the word. But yes.
- 25:44It is a word. Butler head pulled the trigger.
- 25:48That's what oht my God. Yeah, so, so but one, one other
- 25:57thing, I guess we could Panera and go there to the ABS.
- 26:00I don't know, because they can't give them term.
- 26:02Abs and Abs and Dallas get ruled out when he wants to and they
- 26:06can provide term. Dallas can only provide term if
- 26:08they don't want to sign Jason Robertson, but they're not ready
- 26:10to make that decision yet, so. Why would you take Canarian over
- 26:13Robertson when Robertson is just younger?
- 26:15Parents better. Not significantly enough to
- 26:19like, make me want to. I'd rather have Robertson on my
- 26:21team since like 8 years than than Panera and signed to like
- 26:23five years. Fair.
- 26:26Yeah, and they don't have to trade for Robertson.
- 26:27They could just sign him. They would have to give up
- 26:29assets. Yeah, right.
- 26:32I'm sad to see him under. Sorry.
- 26:33Continue. He'll be back, don't worry.
- 26:36Hey, yeah. See you alright.
- 26:39Big squishy leanness. Almark returned from his leave
- 26:42of absence and will get most of the starters this season.
- 26:45He came back, had one really strong game.
- 26:47People are like, should I be buying Hallmark or whatever?
- 26:49You know, and it's like you should have bought him before
- 26:51that strong game. You know, like that was now is
- 26:54not the time. He had one amazing games that
- 26:55his entire last month average is like a perfect, you know, like
- 26:59score. So like, if you can still buy
- 27:01him on the fact that he you know, if people aren't the
- 27:04owners, like I held him all year and he sucked and he had one
- 27:06game, but I don't buy it, you know, and you can buy him load
- 27:09then yeah, I like I like his rest of season outlook, but I'm
- 27:11not paying for him at the price of that one.
- 27:13Really. That game he had?
- 27:15Yeah, but this is just a tail to show that the Senators are like
- 27:19this is a team that, you know, they're far away from the
- 27:21playoff Patriot feels like, but this is a thing that could go on
- 27:24a run and push to make the playoffs.
- 27:27And I think all Mark, if that happens, would be a fantastic
- 27:29goalie. Like he was a top 10 goalie
- 27:32going into the season. Like people, that's what we were
- 27:34ranking him. That's what the projections were
- 27:36just so happened that, you know, his play was significantly awful
- 27:40dog Waffle and the team around them also was a dollar sign.
- 27:45Dollar sign go. Yeah.
- 27:47Yeah, he, you know, he actually has a really decent record this
- 27:49year despite being bad in the percentages.
- 27:53I thought it was worse than it was, but I'm looking at this,
- 27:55it's 15-8 and five. That's really not a horrible.
- 27:57Record, yeah. Yeah, it's similar win
- 28:00percentage as to what he had last year.
- 28:01It's just that his percentage has been horrible.
- 28:03So given the fact that auto was managed and I know like you
- 28:06said, Kevin, it looks kind of out of reach, but they're tied
- 28:10with the Panthers other eight points behind the.
- 28:15Saver each but it seems. Not out of reach, but I don't
- 28:18see it happening. It's less about the actual
- 28:20points amount. It's about the number of teams
- 28:22in between them and that spot specifically in our division,
- 28:24the Atlantic, right? Like Tampa is a lock.
- 28:26Detroit and Buffalo are both looking unreal.
- 28:28The haves are looking unreal. That's what four teams in your
- 28:32division already that are looking really, I don't want to
- 28:34say a lot, but are looking really, really good for
- 28:36playoffs. So at that point, you're the
- 28:38best you're going to do is second wild card.
- 28:40And then there's the whole other division to worry about.
- 28:42Not that they're good, but you know, you got like who's been
- 28:44solid and then like Washington, I expect to make a push at some
- 28:47point, especially they acquired. I'd say I don't think they make
- 28:49the playoffs, but I do think they'll be good rest of season
- 28:51and be competitive. I feel like every single team in
- 28:55the Atlantic would make the playoffs in the Metropolitan.
- 28:58Yeah, literally. One, I also don't wanna get
- 29:02ahead of myself and count Buffalo as a playoff team just
- 29:06yet. I feel like we've seen enough
- 29:07from them to know that like, let's not get ahead of ourselves
- 29:09here. With Buffalo they're like 23 and
- 29:111. I know like 24 I know, but it's
- 29:13the Buffalo. Until I see them make the
- 29:15playoffs, I will not believe it. I mean, yeah, the last time
- 29:19Buffalo made the playoffs, I was, I think, 12 years old.
- 29:25Down. Maybe 30, maybe 13.
- 29:30We do have breaking news as we move into the next the next
- 29:34bullet point, but Sam Bennett hurt not will not return to
- 29:38tonight's game. Josh, what the heck?
- 29:43Talk. OHSU Frank.
- 29:47It would be lovely on that power play.
- 29:49Totally over Bennett in another world, I swear.
- 29:54What the absolute belief is going on?
- 29:57They had that kind of power. My opponent's entire team
- 30:00wouldn't be getting healthy right before playing me, I
- 30:02promise you that. As as we're recording this
- 30:06happened so we don't know if it's like it's serious enough to
- 30:09help hold them out for the rest of the game, but there's one
- 30:11period left without also like also.
- 30:15The Olympic breaks about to come up.
- 30:17Like you know he misses the rest of the week.
- 30:19So when he broke his leg is there's a three-week Olympic
- 30:21break. Yeah, Vatican broke his leg, was
- 30:24it last year? And then came back like a day
- 30:26later and it was like Russian machine don't break, you know?
- 30:30Only break a little. Yeah, exactly.
- 30:32He's like, now I have three leg. This is this is a bleep show.
- 30:37I am so sad. I really hope that this doesn't
- 30:40end up as bad as I just felt it was.
- 30:43Yeah. Well, it'll be fine, don't worry
- 30:45Kevin. Just trying to mess with you.
- 30:46I just saw the notification that I repeated exactly what it said.
- 30:51Alright, let's get into all the players on my opponents team
- 30:53this week. Anze Kopitar returned from
- 30:55injury after months away and is playing line 2 power play 2.
- 30:59So I mean at least I'll take that.
- 31:00Do we expect him to get back power play one at some point?
- 31:03Even if he doesn't, cooperators was not the same guy.
- 31:06Like he's got no category coverage, he's only got face off
- 31:08wins and the points are not always there so.
- 31:11They're gonna say he's got no character.
- 31:13Though he's got character, he's just got no category of coverage
- 31:16for bangers leaks. He's Doo Doo.
- 31:19Yeah, he, I, I don't like him for fantasy at all, but I do
- 31:23like him for what it's gonna bring to the rest of the Kings.
- 31:26Him not being. There Kemper.
- 31:28Yes, yes, I think it can. I think it's gonna.
- 31:31Be OK just to have one help, Darcy.
- 31:34Your veteran presence, the captain back.
- 31:37I would expect better things from paper moving forward.
- 31:40I would love for that to be true.
- 31:41I don't think it works. That I agree with.
- 31:45Alright, on to another player on my opponents team.
- 31:48Troy Terry returned from injury after months away and is playing
- 31:51line 2 power play 2. So that one he actually was
- 31:54playing that I had pretty bad deployment before the injury.
- 31:58And the coach just he's just seems to have fallen out of
- 32:00favor with the coach, which is nuts because he's like over a
- 32:02point for game on the season and like coach puts him online for
- 32:04and he produces. Coach puts them on, you know,
- 32:06power play too and he produces. So I've always been a huge Troy
- 32:10Terry fan. I'm going to suspend that for a
- 32:11week while I play him and then I'll go back to being a huge
- 32:13criteria. But it is frustrating if you're
- 32:15an owner right where you see this like deployment, like who's
- 32:18getting power play one over him, you know, like it's just makes
- 32:20no sense. So I do think that this could
- 32:23last longer than you'd be happy with because like I said, it
- 32:26happened before his injury as well.
- 32:27It's not like an easing him in type of thing.
- 32:29So it is a bit annoying but I still like holding him because I
- 32:32think he could still be over or around a point per game .9
- 32:35points even with the bad deployment.
- 32:36But this puts him in the waiver wire conversation for a lot of
- 32:40leagues, in my opinion. Like you can pick up, you know,
- 32:42we talk about sometimes Jared McCann, like it's been a while,
- 32:44like he's been on fire. But on Mason Marchman, I feel
- 32:47like that's a genuine conversation right now between
- 32:49him and Troy Terry. There are similar level of
- 32:51players and the difference is the quality of the team and the
- 32:53deployment that they're getting. If one line one Part 1, other
- 32:55ones line 2, power play 2. I'm gonna refer to guys line
- 32:57one, power play 1. Yeah, absolutely.
- 33:00But I don't think he's like an automatic drop either.
- 33:02He came back line 2 property put up two assists.
- 33:05You know, like he still he finds a way.
- 33:06Off the Dome, Would you rather rest of season Troy Terrier?
- 33:09Patrick Kane. Oh that's a really that's how
- 33:12you can have been so bad as a cane owner.
- 33:14But he got power play 1 back. But the fact he lost it to JVR
- 33:18means it's very sketchy deployment.
- 33:21But Criteria doesn't currently have the deployment I think.
- 33:26I think I feel safer with Terry, but I think Kane has the higher
- 33:29upside, if that makes sense. I think Kane shoots a lot more
- 33:31like when he's on, he's on and like the power play is a lot
- 33:34better on Detroit. My main worry with Kane is
- 33:36obviously that he loses power play 1.
- 33:38I don't think he's gonna lose it to Jr. again, but I think
- 33:40Detroit might try and acquire another forward and clearly they
- 33:44are fine bumping Cane. So that's my worry with him.
- 33:46But just doesn't have the deployment without a trade, so I
- 33:49think. My point is also like Chain, we
- 33:51saw when he got bumped off power play once, he was like dot
- 33:54water, like not even roster Detroit terrorizing his still
- 33:57raw Serbal even without the deployment and he still has the
- 33:59upside of getting it back. So it's kind of like a floor
- 34:02versus ceiling type of conversation with some
- 34:04intricacies there. Jake, what do you think?
- 34:06I'm digging Terry. Yeah, I think the Yeah, I think
- 34:10that he I mean, you, you look like on the season he's still at
- 34:12a point where game despite all the nonsense.
- 34:14So I don't know, I feel as if yeah, as if with Kane, if they
- 34:19hadn't bumped him, I would think that he already has the respect
- 34:22of the coaching staff and everyone to not be bumped.
- 34:26But clearly it's something that can happen, and he's the first
- 34:32guy off to get. Someone yeah, the guys literally
- 34:34the best point getter US players ever and they're like Nah, Nah,
- 34:40James Van Reims, like in the year 2026, that's our guy, yeah.
- 34:45That makes no sense. Yeah, no, I think I'm with you.
- 34:48I'm going scary Terry as well. Alright, let's go to the next
- 34:51one. I group these together because
- 34:52we're on the same team. So a brief break from guys from
- 34:54my opponents team. Mason Mctavish returned from
- 34:57injury and is on line 3, power play 2.
- 35:00I just think this Ducks team is like like the deployment, at
- 35:02least it's going to constantly move and I don't really trust
- 35:05any of it. So it's like yeah, it's not fun.
- 35:10Like I thought that I thought that Quenneville coming would
- 35:13have the effect of early season ducks where they were just
- 35:17flying like it was a clear top power play.
- 35:19Their top guys were just nuts, you know, And then like after
- 35:22that kind of like new coach or whatever bump kind of faded,
- 35:26they've become kind of a mess of a team.
- 35:28And like one that I'm kind of like avoiding other than like
- 35:31feeling there's a lot of potential and a lot of bylaws
- 35:33there. Just the way that he like,
- 35:35messes around with the deployment is not something that
- 35:37I enjoy having steaks in. They're also including trade,
- 35:41and if that happens, I feel like it adds talent and add structure
- 35:45because, you know, whatever the plan will be will be line 1.
- 35:48Yeah, if that happens, they're also.
- 35:51Missing. They're winning, they're winning
- 35:53a lot of games and, and you're right, for fantasy it kind of
- 35:56sucks because it is a top 9. Leo Carlson is their top guy,
- 36:00and other than the fact that Ryan Paling had a monster game
- 36:04against me yesterday and flipped the faceoffs category, not
- 36:06happy. That's crazy.
- 36:09You're. Feeling.
- 36:11He did. He did.
- 36:12And I screwed. I said Dominic James.
- 36:16Yeah, it was. It was great.
- 36:18It flipped face off. I mean, I still had a big win,
- 36:20but not happy. All this to say, yeah, I think
- 36:25it's one of those situations that it's just going to be
- 36:27really tough to own anyone. But I do like Leo Carlson and
- 36:30Gautier when they come back. Not the same as they were
- 36:32performing at the beginning, but those are kind of the two guys.
- 36:35And anything outside of that, it's gonna be all over the
- 36:37place. Yeah, I agree.
- 36:39But I mean, even like with with gotta like you could see him on
- 36:42power play too, you know, like that's happened multiple times
- 36:45throughout this year. So like even though I still
- 36:47really like him because he shot volume is unbelievable.
- 36:49It's just kind of shows that like nobody's deployment is
- 36:51safe. The only one I think even Leo
- 36:53Carlson was on power play to at some point.
- 36:55I think there's literally no one who's safe in their deployment
- 36:57on this team. So other than Jackson Lacombe,
- 37:00but he used to be a forward. So you know, who knows what's
- 37:02going on there. That was defenseman.
- 37:04Yeah, he's also on USA. Lynn Hudson.
- 37:07How does that make any sense? Nobody.
- 37:09Knows it's yeah. Anyways.
- 37:11I think of Trump was the quarterback of Power Play 2.
- 37:14Like make it make sense. She was the goat, OK?
- 37:18You gotta make shots three games ago or something.
- 37:20It makes no sense. I mean, he's been shooting like
- 37:23a cannon like all season. It's actually been sick good
- 37:26times to be a true owner. Anyways, back to people on my
- 37:29opponents team who have been injured for months but are came
- 37:32in coming back just in time to play me.
- 37:33Victor Hedman returned from injury and playing line 3, no
- 37:36power play. But they're just using him in
- 37:38like, I'd be shocked if he's not power play to buy a game or two
- 37:41more. He only played like 10 minutes.
- 37:43Honestly. Like I wonder if they rushed him
- 37:45back so that he can play in the Olympics and maybe he's like
- 37:48because that kind of sketches me powerfully.
- 37:52Yeah, like 10 minutes of ice time.
- 37:54Line 3, no power play in like the Stadium Series, like massive
- 37:56game again, like in division versus Boston.
- 37:59It just like it could be just easing him in.
- 38:01But at the same time, if you need to ease him in at that
- 38:03extent, he probably wasn't fully ready to return.
- 38:06So I think there's something there.
- 38:08I think we might see that with a with a few guys where they might
- 38:11kind of like rush back a little to make the Olympics.
- 38:14I'm looking at like Landeskog also, I feel like he could have
- 38:17stayed out longer and he's not going to play before the
- 38:19Olympics, but he's gonna play in the Olympics.
- 38:20And I feel like just with how, you know, nothing's guaranteed
- 38:23with any tell players going to Olympics.
- 38:25It's been like 12 years. I think that everyone just wants
- 38:28to play, even if they're healthy or not.
- 38:30Jack Hughes, he's gonna play in the Olympics.
- 38:31He is definitely not healthy, I could tell you.
- 38:34That he said he feels good, lost a lot of heat so.
- 38:36Yeah, what else is gonna say? Oh, I don't think I should go to
- 38:38Milan because I'm actually extremely injured and my skin is
- 38:42paper and my bones are glass, all that yadda, yadda.
- 38:45You know, like, no, he's going to say I'm feeling great, I'm
- 38:46ready to represent the US and he's gonna pull a Matthew
- 38:49Patrick from the Four Nations last year and and cost them by
- 38:51playing injured instead of letting someone else go.
- 38:53Yeah, they bench Kyle Connor and then.
- 38:56Yeah. Those those whole showcall.
- 38:57But yeah, well, now this is, yeah.
- 38:59Now it's gonna be Jackie's playing with like half an arm
- 39:02versus Jason Robertson chilling at home and cold Cofield
- 39:04chilling at home. You know, like, yeah, yeah.
- 39:07Anyways, just to sum up my opponents to my opponents
- 39:10players, that's copyright. And Hedman.
- 39:13Yeah, for Hedman. Before we move on from Hedman, I
- 39:16am like a firm. I don't want him on my team at
- 39:20this point. Like we really fake.
- 39:23Sorry we are all turn Iping. Alternate voice.
- 39:27He is like actually so good and I I figured something out when I
- 39:33was watching the the Outdoor Classic this past weekend.
- 39:35It's cause he's all. Yeah, it's super aerodynamic.
- 39:41No, but what it is with him is that Kucherov, you know, plays
- 39:45on the right side and it's super easy to give Radish the one
- 39:48timers. Hedman's a lefty, it doesn't
- 39:51work the same. Obviously Kutra has been able to
- 39:53be sick no matter who he's played with and had been does
- 39:56have the pedigree, but I think that they've done so
- 39:58tremendously well with radish there this year that it's going
- 40:00to be radish spot rest of season.
- 40:02If you can sell Headman on him coming back I would because I
- 40:05don't and the name value I don't want him at all 0.
- 40:09He was a good stash when he was for free and you picked him up
- 40:11on waivers to see how it's going to shake out if you did that.
- 40:15I'm like, The thing is now you have to cut them if you don't
- 40:18want to activate them, right? So depending on your situation,
- 40:22that's most likely the case. Radish has been too good, guys.
- 40:25Is there a better defenseman in the league for fantasy than
- 40:28Darren Radon? It's actually nuts.
- 40:30I played against him last week and I got, I mean, first of all
- 40:33against Matthew Olivier and then also played against Darren
- 40:36Radish, which got overlooked. But he had the last four games
- 40:41he had. He has seven points in the last
- 40:44four games, three power play points and almost 20 shots.
- 40:49Yeah, How does that make any sense?
- 40:51That's crazy. Every night I wake up in the
- 40:54middle of the night in a cold sweat being like, I can't
- 40:56believe I didn't pick up Darren right now as honestly, like it's
- 40:59it's not. I was this close to picking him
- 41:01up, but because I had too many defensemen that week, I was
- 41:03like, oh, he's not. I'm gonna have to bench someone
- 41:05all week, so I'm not gonna pick him up.
- 41:06Headman's gonna be back next week anyways.
- 41:08Whatever, I'm over it. Except I never will be.
- 41:12We're gonna be talking about the three years from now, that time
- 41:14we didn't pick up Darren Radish. I mean, I remember this happens
- 41:18like every year the same way that 0G is the way to go,
- 41:21because there's every year there's at least one like
- 41:23breakout goalie that comes out of nowhere to pick up.
- 41:25Every year. I find that there's one unreal
- 41:27defenseman who comes out of nowhere.
- 41:29Most sider the year that he that he blew up, no one drafted him.
- 41:32He was like a nobody. You know, like Brock Faber had
- 41:34that one year, right where he was like actually unreal.
- 41:36And I'm. Thinking that this year but.
- 41:39Yeah, like there's always one stud defenseman that comes out
- 41:43of nowhere. And I mean, I've never seen it
- 41:45to this extent, although Slider was pretty sick that year.
- 41:47Like, yeah, this feels like different.
- 41:48And yeah, I always miss out. And every year I'm like, so I'm
- 41:51gonna look at every defensive inside I'll miss.
- 41:53Yeah, yeah. At least it was like a high
- 41:55pick, though Darren Radish is, is not.
- 41:58Young. Oh yeah.
- 41:58I'm pretty sure he's like in his late 20s.
- 42:00He's finally getting an opportunity.
- 42:02He's like, look, guys, I could shoot the puck.
- 42:04Can you give me like the best playmaker in the world, or at
- 42:07least top three? And Kucherov just like, give me
- 42:09the puck, like, I'll score. I promise.
- 42:11And he does. It it's crazy nuts.
- 42:14Actually insane. Anyways, all that to say, all
- 42:17three of the guys in my opponents team were out for
- 42:19months and they came back literally the day I'm playing
- 42:21them. There's something here, guys.
- 42:22I've been talking about this all season.
- 42:24I mean, these hands healed heal, you know?
- 42:26Anyways, let's keep going. Logan Thompson.
- 42:29Yeah, exactly. Pretty much.
- 42:38We need to put you in contact with Josh Doris, please.
- 42:43And you're just unlucky that I'm not playing you again.
- 42:44Or you guys don't get healthy. Alright, Logan Thompson is
- 42:49day-to-day with an upper body injury and Charlie Lindgren is
- 42:51on IR. So Clay Stevenson is the starter
- 42:54until Thompson returns. Thompson should return before
- 42:57the Olympic break, it seems. So they have this back-to-back.
- 42:59He's missing both, but then they have one more game before the
- 43:01break and he should be back for that.
- 43:02So you're only getting one start of Clay Stephenson.
- 43:04And that actually is happening as we speak right now.
- 43:07So I don't think anyone's going to be picking him up because of
- 43:10this. But but yeah, I think that is
- 43:12this another case of that someone rushing back for the
- 43:14Olympics. Do you think you could hang out
- 43:16a bit longer? You think that he's ready to
- 43:17come? Back, I think they're rushing, I
- 43:19think they're putting him on like off the ice for Olympics.
- 43:22I think he's the extra break is there, they're going to use it
- 43:26and that's it. Yeah.
- 43:29Do we think Washington makes the playoffs?
- 43:32I think they're gonna try. That's more than a lot of teams
- 43:34can say, but I don't think to make playoffs.
- 43:38Yeah. Unless they get a companion then
- 43:40I would seriously reconsider my my opinion, but as of right now
- 43:43it's not looking like that. Yeah.
- 43:45So you think it's it's basically Blue Jackets who are gonna be
- 43:48the third spot there? I mean the bonus is just a
- 43:51completely different team and before the better obviously so.
- 43:56Yeah, I think the Blue Jackets should alright you upl.
- 44:00Utopic Gaucin is out for about a week with a lower body entry.
- 44:04Alex Lyon will get all the starts until he returns sparring
- 44:07back-to-back. What do you guys think of Alex
- 44:09Lyon? I know, I know Jakey said that
- 44:11he's a he's the real deal. And what do you guys think of
- 44:14like the the split one URL returns.
- 44:17What do you think of the Buffalo as a whole?
- 44:18I know Kevin said he's not buying it.
- 44:20Like what do we? Whoop.
- 44:25If Josh Norris came back, I'd buy into it a lot more, but
- 44:27right now he's still on my IR and I will keep mentioning him,
- 44:30but Jackie said Alex Lyons a league winner and then Josh
- 44:33picked him up so. Yeah, I will say I was gonna
- 44:36pick him up before, Jackie said. That would.
- 44:38Force my beliefs. OK, Yeah.
- 44:41I first of all, I I'm flattered. So thank you, Josh, you
- 44:46dedicated manager, management, fantasy hockey listener for.
- 44:48Listening to. Everyday.
- 44:56Yeah, so to me to me this is A and I said this and I stand by
- 45:00it. This is the last big goalie
- 45:02pickup of the year. I think he's been so good.
- 45:06He's been on such a tear and I think that he is there better
- 45:10goalie and hopefully the coach realizes that.
- 45:14My idea here is that like when UPL comes back, line is still
- 45:17going to get quote the lion share, haha.
- 45:21But I also look, I don't know if they're gonna be making the
- 45:23playoffs, but they'll be in the in contention.
- 45:26Like I don't think they're just gonna go on some crazy losing
- 45:28streak like they have in years past.
- 45:29It feels different and it feels like it's been happening for
- 45:32longer, as Kevin alluded to earlier.
- 45:35I mean, I'm still I'm less all in on demos as you are.
- 45:40I I think Lion has been fantastic, but to me this is not
- 45:43a sustainable level of production.
- 45:46And I like calling them 6K. What happened to six Ki like 6K?
- 45:50Yeah, that's a good. One for instead of upl.
- 45:52I like saying 6K more, but still think he's a great goal.
- 45:56I think he's just as good as Lion, to be honest.
- 45:58And we've seen that because they've been splitting and they
- 46:00both been really solid. And I do think he has the edge
- 46:03just because of like he's been on this team longer and like he
- 46:05had the edge going into it type of thing.
- 46:08But Lion is fantastic. But I do think both of these
- 46:11guys slow down a little bit and that doesn't mean Buffalo stops
- 46:14winning. I just think the goalies are
- 46:16really overproducing and what they're putting on the ice and I
- 46:20don't think you run away with the amount of starts.
- 46:23So I'm not putting him in league winner status, but I do think
- 46:26he's a phenomenal stream right now.
- 46:28Yeah, He won't be a 945 as he has been for the past few games
- 46:33since he's gone back. But I still think, like, you
- 46:36know, 905 to 910 is attainable. And at that point, if he does
- 46:42get the majority, which I anticipate, it's not going to be
- 46:44a true tandem. I think he's going to get most.
- 46:47I'm very happy to have him on my team.
- 46:49I said I took Dominic. Doesn't feel like.
- 46:53I also feel like. Face off.
- 46:56I don't know if this is like like a thing, but like in the
- 46:59past when teams have done tandems, do they as you get
- 47:02closer to the playoffs, like let's say they know they're
- 47:04making the playoffs or whatever. Like do you find they start
- 47:06playing one of them more the guy they expect to be their playoff
- 47:09goalie or think they tandem it all the way till the end and
- 47:11then and then they just choose a goalie and go with?
- 47:13Them, no, no, They do the tournament to the end and then
- 47:16they get into the playoffs and they don't know what the F is
- 47:18going on and then they lose. That's what happens with tandem
- 47:21situations. We've had this conversation
- 47:25before. There was just like, you know,
- 47:27teams that run a tandem don't usually have one really elite
- 47:30guy, so they run the tandem because both can give quality.
- 47:33So it's like there's no teams ever won the cup with the
- 47:37tandem, but like the teams with tandems don't have elite goalie.
- 47:40So no team has ever won the league without an league.
- 47:42Yeah, but just imagine you're the 202425 Washington Capitals
- 47:47and you have a very good goalie on your hands.
- 47:49Another, another OK goalie. And you know what?
- 47:51We're going to do a tandem. So they do a tandem and then the
- 47:54entire year they finish with like an amazing record.
- 47:57I think what they didn't win the President's Trophy, but they.
- 48:00Still, they like finished you. Know yeah, they finished second
- 48:03and then they get into the playoffs, they're like, I don't
- 48:04know what the heck is going on. And then the next year they
- 48:06decide to play a better goalie more frequently and lo and
- 48:11behold, could have done better last year if they just played
- 48:15Logan Thompson is. One.
- 48:17No lone behold. They're doing terribly this
- 48:18year. Yeah, you're just because you
- 48:21had Thompson last year when he was amazing and he was.
- 48:23Like where the games, but they had a better team.
- 48:26They had, they had PLD and stuff, you know, all the sources
- 48:29of Beast, but that's whatever. Yeah, that's alright.
- 48:32Let's keep going because we're dilly dallying a bit much here.
- 48:37Morgan Riley is day-to-day with an upper body injury, gets power
- 48:41play one while he's out. That's something with not tough
- 48:44thing, but the thing with all these day to days going into the
- 48:46break is that by the time the breaks over, they're going to be
- 48:48healthy again. So it feels like there's not too
- 48:50much to say about a lot of these days.
- 48:52It just gives the opportunity to stream these other guys.
- 48:55Yeah, for like half a week. Yeah, like one or two games.
- 48:59That's great. Yeah.
- 49:01Willie Styles William Nylander returned from injury and is
- 49:04aligned to Power Play 1 bumping Matthias Micelli off Power Play
- 49:081 Unsurprisingly, are we still fully Do we expect Nylander to
- 49:13be back to like 1.2 finish the season?
- 49:16What do we expect him to points wise?
- 49:18Points per game wise rest of the season.
- 49:20I wasn't at the high like to, but I still think it's gonna be
- 49:23solid. I think it's gonna be more
- 49:24closer to like a point per game though.
- 49:27Alright, he had five shots first came back.
- 49:30That was one of the the kind of L's of his season so far was the
- 49:33the shooting volume. But if he gets that back, I mean
- 49:35his points were kind of unreal all season.
- 49:37So I think he's 1.2. I think so too, yeah.
- 49:41I mean. He I've been trying to buy a
- 49:42little so much. Yeah, the manager is not in the
- 49:45playoffs anymore, said. Yeah, he, he's definitely, uh,
- 49:50since he flipped off the camera there.
- 49:54That's awesome. Good.
- 49:56Yeah, well, got real mad but. It's crazy.
- 50:00Why would you get mad at that? No, I mean, I don't care.
- 50:05made-up a ball, they made him apologize.
- 50:08Like, lest we forget, William Nylander got a goal and an
- 50:11assist and one shot on goal in 2 minutes and 17 seconds of ice
- 50:14time. Insane peaceful rest of season.
- 50:17Yeah, it's for 60. That continues.
- 50:21It's yeah, but I'm also thinking 11.1 to 1.3 in that range.
- 50:28Yeah, OK Jack Hughes is day-to-day with a lower body
- 50:32injury. Connor Brown taking his spot on
- 50:34Power Play 1. Is anyone shocked?
- 50:40Gosh, I think Jack Hughes is our most popular name on these news
- 50:44episodes because it's Jackie's injured.
- 50:46Jackie's healthy. Jackie is injured.
- 50:48Snip, snap, snap. No, it's a disaster.
- 50:52I'm not surprised at all he is. He's totally made of glass.
- 50:56Do you guys avoid him in the draft next year?
- 50:59Yes, I will not be avoiding him in the draft next year.
- 51:03I'm getting ready to be heard again.
- 51:06Maybe because I don't have it on him this year.
- 51:08Don't forget I drafted Brady could Chuck and Vincent Trocheck
- 51:10who never get hurt and both of them missed two months this
- 51:13season. So, you know, like.
- 51:16You have some guys who just like, like, I know certain
- 51:19point, you know, like when do you, when do you just admit
- 51:21like, cause I've always been of the opinion that as long as
- 51:24there's no lingering effects of previous injury, I don't like
- 51:27carrying about it. But at a certain point it's
- 51:30like, when do you just feel like, OK, you know what?
- 51:32This guy is guaranteed getting injured this year.
- 51:35I don't know, I feel like he's getting close to that territory.
- 51:38No, it's crazy. He's played one full season.
- 51:41And by full I still mean like he missed three games, so not
- 51:44really. And then other than that, he's
- 51:46missed at least 20 games every season.
- 51:50That's a lot. That's yeah.
- 51:52I suppose the COVID year was a full year, but yeah, he's really
- 51:57just cannot stay healthy. He'll get he'll be above a point
- 52:00per game if you ever stays healthy.
- 52:01I'm assuming he could get 110 points which is awesome, but
- 52:05like next year depending on the landing spot if I have a Panarin
- 52:08or Jack Hughes. Why are you picking Jack Hughes?
- 52:11Right. Yeah.
- 52:12I think if he drops because of that injury concern, that's when
- 52:16you take him. But like if you have him where
- 52:18you're like, if he was healthy, he'd be the best player here,
- 52:20but not by like that much, then maybe you just go with the safer
- 52:23bet who's like, you know, instead of, you know, 1.2 points
- 52:27per game, the guys like 1.15 or one point, you know, like I'll
- 52:30just take the the slightly worse guy who's gonna stay healthy
- 52:33more likely. Barring the playoff schedules
- 52:36being super different next year, I'm still going to take Jacques
- 52:39over. I'm going to take them over
- 52:41Nylander. I'm still going to take him over
- 52:42Panera, and I'm still gonna take him over Kyle Connor.
- 52:45I'm still gonna. Take if you're in that spot.
- 52:46If you're in that spot, like late 1st, early second round,
- 52:50and you get to see your turn and the UC Jack uses the best guy
- 52:53available, you're gonna take. You're gonna use your first or
- 52:55second round. Pick it all, still take him.
- 52:57I'll be really happy if it's an early second round pick as
- 52:59opposed to a late first round pick, but I feel like we'll have
- 53:02to see how the board shakes out. Obviously there's still a lot of
- 53:04good quality players depending how deep league is, but at the
- 53:08end of the first round, like we played A-14 team league, like if
- 53:11he was picked 13 or 14, like I'm not gonna hate it.
- 53:13OK, I mean, I I'd like to say I would do the same, but I've
- 53:17started to, I think for me, just like my least favorite part of
- 53:20fantasy is when all my guys are injured and feels like it keeps
- 53:22happening the last like year or two.
- 53:23So I'm trying to like minimize that, but obviously.
- 53:26It's so random, right? So I'm saying like I dropped a
- 53:28Brady and I dropped the project. Hasn't missed a game in like 5
- 53:31years, missed two months. What am I imagine?
- 53:35Like I skip Jack Hughes because I think he's gonna get hurt.
- 53:37He doesn't end up getting hurt. And obviously we know we're
- 53:40living it right now. He's hurt.
- 53:42He literally got hurt at dinner this year, guys.
- 53:44Yeah, putting a stake in something.
- 53:45Happened yeah so yeah I mean I will say to your point, a guy
- 53:50that I've drafted every single year until last year was Zach
- 53:54Werenski and every year he would get injured season ending injury
- 53:57until last year I was like, you know I'm not going to take him
- 53:59and then who grabs him? Jakey and what does he do he
- 54:01puts up the best year of his career and immediately becomes a
- 54:04top three fantasy defenseman doesn't get injured.
- 54:07You know, so like I, I get your point.
- 54:09You know the upsides there on these guys and if you if you
- 54:11overthink it, you can end up missing out.
- 54:12It's. Easy to say when you're in the
- 54:13moment or after the fact. Of course, Jack use gets her
- 54:16together type of thing. But like, yeah, Mark Stone this
- 54:18season, like, I know he's missed time, but he's been insane.
- 54:21That's true. It's very true.
- 54:23Yeah. Alright.
- 54:25Robert Thomas had a minor leg procedure and should be back
- 54:28after the Olympic break. Do you guys think he's a bill or
- 54:31are you staying away? What do you think is the deal?
- 54:33Can you turn this season around? Can be close to point per game
- 54:35again. I'm happier to buy little now
- 54:38that I can IR stash him if I'm being real, and I'll have to
- 54:41hold like the performances on my roster, but it's slow.
- 54:47It's I'm not giving I'd rather fancily rest of season.
- 54:51I think we had this conversation a couple of weeks ago and I
- 54:54think it was the episode Josh means.
- 54:56I forget if Josh was on the family side of the Robert Thomas
- 54:58side, but. I want fantilli.
- 55:02Yeah, I thought you were gonna go Robert Thomas, but you
- 55:03weren't Fantilli after we spoke about it after the fact.
- 55:06But that's the type of thing like Robert Thomas should not be
- 55:08an out those conversations, right?
- 55:10Like he should be way higher up the up the rankings, but this is
- 55:13just not the year he could get traded.
- 55:16That's not. Possible.
- 55:17I think there's any chance he gets traded.
- 55:18I think that it's all BS. I think it's all just smoke and
- 55:22I'll just blowing smoke in the bathroom.
- 55:26Ohkay Smoke. Yeah, no, I think it's just,
- 55:31it's just Doug Armstrong just, you know, kind of like messing
- 55:34with people. And he's like, yeah, for the
- 55:35right price, I'll trade him. The right price is like what
- 55:38Quinn Hughes got or something, you know?
- 55:39So like, I don't see him getting moved.
- 55:41I wouldn't bank on it if you're trying to buy low.
- 55:43If you're buying low on him, it's because you believe in him
- 55:45turning it around in Saint Louis.
- 55:46Yeah, I don't think that's necessarily gonna happen.
- 55:49Lastly, Carrillo Marchenko is day-to-day with an illness.
- 55:54Ken Johnson would take his spot on power play one if he misses a
- 55:56game. Again, these day-to-day, it's
- 55:58also an illness. I just think there's an illness
- 55:59going through Columbus locker room.
- 56:01So something to keep an eye on for this coming.
- 56:03I wouldn't stream a Columbus guy for this before the break.
- 56:07Monahan just missed some time with an illness.
- 56:08Now Marchenko might miss some time is the thing where you pick
- 56:11up a guy and then he's out like like a minute before the game
- 56:14starts because of the illness. So I would just avoid that.
- 56:16I thought of when you said, oh, there's the illness is going
- 56:20through the those lock remote like, oh hell, this like.
- 56:27I know you're gonna say that you were like, hoping it hits
- 56:29Matthew. Olivier don't know.
- 56:31I mean, it should hopefully. I think I saw a report and said
- 56:33like, he's battling the illness but he's OK enough to play and
- 56:37score against my fantasy team. Yeah, of course.
- 56:40Well, he knew it was an important week.
- 56:41Yeah, you scrap the. Yeah, let's get into the would
- 56:47you rathers. All right, I've been looking
- 56:51forward to this. I, I spiced up the order.
- 56:54So if this is the first time you guys are listening to a news and
- 56:57would you rather episode I cover 5 positions for these, Would you
- 57:01Rathers, senator, defenseman, goalie, left wing, right wing.
- 57:04And I try to split the difference between Jake and
- 57:06Josh, have them pick separate players.
- 57:08I try to find the line of where the player values are.
- 57:10So it's just a good conversation to know like first of all, for
- 57:12like trades and just like player value rest of season, we're
- 57:16always talking in Bangor leagues and we're always talking without
- 57:18faceoff wins unless we specify would face off wins.
- 57:22I usually start with the forward positions, but I kind of wanted
- 57:24the inverse order today. So we're starting with.
- 57:27Goalies. And if you guys like the way
- 57:29Kevin spiced it up, give us a five stars on Spotify or Apple
- 57:33podcast, wherever you get your podcasts.
- 57:34Yes, you're listening this far in.
- 57:37We're like an hour into the podcast.
- 57:38We're about to cover the you would you rathers.
- 57:40If you're listening, this part means you like what we're
- 57:42saying. That means you should rate US
- 57:43five stars on Spotify, five stars on Apple.
- 57:45If you're watching on YouTube, give us a subscribe, give us a
- 57:48thumbs up, all that good stuff and leave us.
- 57:51Leave us a comment in the comments about who you would
- 57:54pick in these, would you rathers?
- 57:55I want to know if I can split difference between the viewers
- 57:58as well. That would be cool.
- 58:00But we're talking goalies and this is a hot conversation.
- 58:03Maybe I was too polarizing here, but would you rather rest of
- 58:08season? If he says Jack leaves, I'm
- 58:10gonna lose my mind. You wish no Connor Hellebuyck or
- 58:16John Gibson rest of season. Did I go too low?
- 58:21I mean, nobody wants to hear about anymore, guys.
- 58:24I'm going. I'm going Gibson.
- 58:26Ooh OK, did not go low enough. Yeah, I think that Detroit is
- 58:31the real deal this year. I think that Gibson is one of
- 58:35few goalies who gets as much volume as Halibut does, and.
- 58:39He's squishy. He's definitely squishy, but we
- 58:41were just talking about that, you know, he's, he's healthy
- 58:44now, so no reason to to go into it.
- 58:46Halibut, the one who's been out for like was out for like a few
- 58:48weeks earlier this year. So yeah, at this point, look, I
- 58:52I still think that I like halibut for volume and he's
- 58:55going to get a lot of saves. I don't expect Winnipeg to have
- 58:57some miraculous turn around. I think they just are poop this
- 59:01year. And yeah, exactly.
- 59:05And and yeah, I think that just now Helibus being carried by his
- 59:08name value, but it's late enough in the season where I'm ready to
- 59:11to call it. I'm not targeting him in trades
- 59:12anymore. Hmm, thank you.
- 59:15How do you feel? I think.
- 59:17Guys, tell me how you really feel, Connor.
- 59:19Helpless Gibson was honestly my first instinct here and the
- 59:26reason is like all the things that you said and I totally
- 59:28agree. Definitely I believe in Detroit
- 59:31more rest of season over Winnipeg.
- 59:34But I think that when it comes down to it is going to get the
- 59:37majority of the starts and I do expect them to get more volume
- 59:40than Gibson and also similar, you know, percentages, but less,
- 59:46probably less wins. That's what I think.
- 59:49And I I totally get where you're coming from with Gibson.
- 59:51I got 100%. But Gibson's been known to be
- 59:54like pretty inconsistent in his career.
- 59:57So it's more of a referendum on him and less so like, I think
- 1:00:02that Winnipeg is gonna turn it around.
- 1:00:04So I'm gonna give the slight edge to hello, Buck here.
- 1:00:06I think you went. Like you didn't go too low.
- 1:00:09It's a perfect, it's a perfect question because it's like I'm a
- 1:00:15tiny percentage away of thinking Gibson, like maybe one more game
- 1:00:19of hell about being a bus. And I'm like, yeah, you know
- 1:00:21what? I'm out.
- 1:00:22But as it stands, at this exact moment of the recording, I'm
- 1:00:25gonna go hella buck still. Oh, um, I think I'm also going a
- 1:00:32smidge on, on the John Gibson side just because I, I do think,
- 1:00:37wow, I, I do think hello. No, no.
- 1:00:40But honestly, it's like, ask me tomorrow and maybe I'm going the
- 1:00:43other way, you know? Yeah, don't tell my girlfriend,
- 1:00:46but. Smoke.
- 1:00:52Illness, What are you doing next?
- 1:00:56Next episode on heated driveway. I just think Detroit's a really
- 1:01:01good team and I think Winnipeg is not a good team this year.
- 1:01:04And the I think the winds are going to be big enough of a
- 1:01:09difference that the quality will will make Brown bridge that gap.
- 1:01:14But it's tough because, I mean, Given has been playing a lot of
- 1:01:17games. He could get hurt hella, but
- 1:01:19could get hurt. But to me right now, I think
- 1:01:21Gibson is a safer choice. And with goalies, it's so
- 1:01:24volatile. Like it just it's week by week.
- 1:01:26The whole landscape changes it feels like.
- 1:01:28But I think right now I'm going Gibson.
- 1:01:31For me with like Halibut, the way I see it is his main asset
- 1:01:34now is that is the volume. And if you show me another
- 1:01:38goalie like Gibson who has that same volume and is just on a
- 1:01:42better team, I'm gonna go with that guy because I really think
- 1:01:44that hella bucks. Like, I don't expect his rate
- 1:01:46stats to be that great. I don't expect him to get almost
- 1:01:48any wins. He's going to play a lot.
- 1:01:50He's going to be in front of a lot of pucks.
- 1:01:52But I think there's a lot of goalies that probably be
- 1:01:54surprised that would take over. Hello Bucket at this point.
- 1:01:57That's great. Jack Reeves.
- 1:01:59Yeah, No way. Wow.
- 1:02:02I mean that makes. You feel good.
- 1:02:03I mean, the second that that that he starts getting more
- 1:02:06start. Like if it's 5050, I'm going
- 1:02:08Hello, Buck. OK, so but I think grief should
- 1:02:10take the starts from Elvis. So I'll I'll take a step back
- 1:02:15and it's 5050. I'm still going halibut.
- 1:02:16But if Grieves is getting more started.
- 1:02:18For him. OK, so wait, where's the line on
- 1:02:20the book? Now I gotta figure this out.
- 1:02:22Hey, are you have? To do this one, any volume
- 1:02:25starter on a team that's like, I think it's a lot better than
- 1:02:29Winnipeg taking over. Hallmark.
- 1:02:32That's a tough one. I don't know if it was that much
- 1:02:34better than Winnipeg. I think they're better.
- 1:02:36I think they're better. I think Ottawa's better.
- 1:02:39But we've seen what the goal is can do on Ottawa so.
- 1:02:42Yeah, it's tough because they can be the type of team that
- 1:02:45could win games, but like he can have worse right stats than
- 1:02:48hello Buck. So yeah, that's a close one.
- 1:02:51I'm actually I'm not certain right off the top of my head,
- 1:02:53but honestly, I'd probably go all mark just I think he has the
- 1:02:56like I think Ottawa can be a good team.
- 1:02:58Winnipeg. I have no hope in this season.
- 1:03:00Now watch, I'm gonna crazy Saint Louis run or something.
- 1:03:02You know, after I say all this. What about Dustin Wolf?
- 1:03:04Last one I'll ask. No, I'm going to help.
- 1:03:07OK. They're split.
- 1:03:09We're splitting starts on a team that's worse than one of.
- 1:03:11Kevin do one or two a bit higher so that professionally I
- 1:03:16actually, yeah, no, I'm taking hella look.
- 1:03:20I'm taking Bob. Bob has also been just bad in
- 1:03:24terms of the percentage. Of Florida at least wins games.
- 1:03:26Yeah, that's the that's the main thing.
- 1:03:28What about Joseph Wall? Hollaback.
- 1:03:31Halibut, yeah. OK, alright.
- 1:03:34Well hopefully that was helpful, but I think this is this was a
- 1:03:37good conversation. I think it was needed like no
- 1:03:39help was a bylaw for us for a long time and I think he did
- 1:03:42bounce back a little bit, but it's just Winnipeg is just not
- 1:03:44there this year, so we gotta reevaluate.
- 1:03:46If you have hello bug, do you think you can even trade them?
- 1:03:50You could probably get do you think plus and be like any
- 1:03:53opportunity to buy? Value.
- 1:03:56Yeah, you can still trade on. I mean they're.
- 1:03:59They're. They're 5, three and two over
- 1:04:01the last 10. And also like they're really not
- 1:04:04that far out of the playoffs guys.
- 1:04:05Like I know they I don't think they'll make it.
- 1:04:08I had them finishing fifth. I stand by that.
- 1:04:10But also like they have the Predators and the Mammoth to
- 1:04:13beat out that impossible, no? Nice.
- 1:04:17I'm I'm surprised I didn't realize they were they were
- 1:04:19doing decently. There 51 points on the season.
- 1:04:21Nashville is 56. Utah has 60.
- 1:04:25They just suck though. I know, I don't know.
- 1:04:28I hear you. I hear you.
- 1:04:29But he's still, I think we we have to give him a bit more
- 1:04:32respect. Like I get where you're coming
- 1:04:34from, though. Gibson was like probably the
- 1:04:35closest one of all the ones we mentioned, but yeah.
- 1:04:39It's still Connor Hellebuyck, didn't he?
- 1:04:40Could make us look like Dum Dums.
- 1:04:42For sure not me. I'm I'm yeah, not not drinking,
- 1:04:45but I wouldn't be surprised if I went a bit hard on that one.
- 1:04:48I don't even own him, so I don't know why I'm so like yeah, like
- 1:04:51so against him. I just like.
- 1:04:52I'm just like. Yeah, I think it's your money go
- 1:04:54to buy him for so long that you're finally fed up with it
- 1:04:56and you're just like not buying them.
- 1:04:58That definitely could be it. All right, well, this next one
- 1:05:02might be just as polarizing. Would you rather rest of season
- 1:05:06most cider or Darren Radish bangers league don't forget.
- 1:05:13This is great because it's making us it's making us
- 1:05:15reevaluate a lot of our intakes from earlier, which, and I think
- 1:05:18you have to I think like if you you can't just stick to your
- 1:05:21takes as it gets proven kind of wrong, unless you're like, OK,
- 1:05:26you know, sometimes you stick to your guns, but a certain point
- 1:05:29you have to readjust and look, I'm going radish and I know that
- 1:05:33might be absolutely insane, but it's been.
- 1:05:36If you look at the numbers long enough, production.
- 1:05:39That's it's like and also like some of these guys who are these
- 1:05:43bangers beasts, they actually been underwhelming at bangers.
- 1:05:46You know, we talked about McAvoy on our on our Vilosell high
- 1:05:49episode, right, but he's been amazing at points.
- 1:05:51But bangers aren't there. Dalens another one amazing at
- 1:05:53points. Bangers haven't been there.
- 1:05:55Cider hasn't been amazing at points and the Rangers aren't
- 1:05:58there. Like he blocks a lot and he
- 1:05:59shoots an OK amount like where the hits, you know, like I
- 1:06:03drafted him this year to be that like kind of all around
- 1:06:05defenseman and it's at this point it's a lot of name value
- 1:06:07carrying holding that weight, right.
- 1:06:09So and I think that if Detroit trades for any defenseman like
- 1:06:13they could, he get bumped off power play one a lot easier than
- 1:06:15radish can, which is kind of insane to say all that say I'm
- 1:06:18going radish and it if you would, I would never say the
- 1:06:21beginning season should have been like who is Darren Raddysh?
- 1:06:23So. So the only guy that's been a
- 1:06:27beast for bangers, I think that was drafted to sort of be do
- 1:06:30both was weaker and his points of sucked.
- 1:06:33So you're right, like there's no combo guy this year.
- 1:06:35It's actually quite disappointing.
- 1:06:37I mean, that's why those are super valuable, because there's
- 1:06:39literally like two or three of them usually, and this would
- 1:06:41have even been reliable. Can you think of 1 like?
- 1:06:44I mean, I can't like, I can't like.
- 1:06:49McAvoy was the one that. Flew off for like those.
- 1:06:51Two weeks to say other. Yeah, Jacob.
- 1:06:54Truth. Know what everybody was like?
- 1:06:55Oh he's back, he's the GOAT and we told everybody to sell high
- 1:06:58and then he was like a drop for like 2 months.
- 1:07:01Yeah, and then he got dropped in our league and I grabbed him and
- 1:07:03he's been sick and now. He's.
- 1:07:04Yeah, So I'm going with Mr. Aerodynamic himself as well.
- 1:07:11Darren Raddysh over here, he's just been unbelievably good.
- 1:07:15And I think that no matter how strong Detroit is, the offensive
- 1:07:21potential that he has, just because Sauder is a great
- 1:07:24overall defenseman, but the offensive potential that Radish
- 1:07:27has just way higher than I think what Cider has.
- 1:07:31If Cider is Bangor Cats were stellar, it would maybe be a
- 1:07:35question mark. But I mean, like his hits have
- 1:07:37just been like really not it at all over the last 30 days.
- 1:07:41Cider has .79 hits per game. Like what?
- 1:07:45That's nothing. That's like, yeah, like fill the
- 1:07:49no numbers type thing, you know, like that's not special at all.
- 1:07:53So could you? It's way better.
- 1:07:56Radish has hits have been better.
- 1:07:58His shots have basically been double of cider.
- 1:08:02And like this is like a long sample size.
- 1:08:04Obviously Radish is due for some negative regression and Cider is
- 1:08:09due for some positive regression.
- 1:08:10But at the end of the day when it comes down to it like other
- 1:08:14than the blocks I think every other category is going in
- 1:08:17radishes way. Yeah, it's it's honestly crazy
- 1:08:21that we're here right now because Radish was, I mean, I'm
- 1:08:24ready to say he's like to pick up of the season like I think so
- 1:08:27people, people. Picked up.
- 1:08:28Think about a decade. People picked up, it was Frank
- 1:08:32Nazar. The first few for the first
- 1:08:34month of the season felt like people were like oh he's the
- 1:08:36league winner. We didn't buy into it.
- 1:08:38Leo Carlson was a league winner for a long time.
- 1:08:41Like he got drafted in some leagues but not every league.
- 1:08:43Think Darren Radish. What he's doing from the
- 1:08:45defenseman position is just is insane.
- 1:08:48And I there was always the what if Hedman comes back?
- 1:08:52But if Hedman comes back, like Hedman is back and I think
- 1:08:54radishes just doing he got even better and better and better.
- 1:08:57I don't know how you don't know. You don't go with this guy.
- 1:09:00Yeah. Who?
- 1:09:02Who can I just say who's the better defenseman fantasy than
- 1:09:04Darren right now? Who would rather have Makar for?
- 1:09:06Sure, Shard Macar, Quinn Hughes. Ruski, those are the four names.
- 1:09:10That's it. Yeah, pretty much.
- 1:09:12I think I'm on the same page. Dalene.
- 1:09:15Yeah, Dalene. OK, I don't even know about
- 1:09:17that. I mean.
- 1:09:19I've been crazy. No, it's a really good points
- 1:09:23always. Well, there's been.
- 1:09:25Yeah, but like, just cause, like just cause of like the name
- 1:09:28value there and like, I trust Dolly to maintain it more than
- 1:09:30Radish, so. But I mean, if you tell me
- 1:09:32Radish is gonna finish the season better than Dolly and I'd
- 1:09:34be like, I could see that. Yeah.
- 1:09:35I just I take Dolly for the safety.
- 1:09:38Yeah, I'm not the same. And like there is the small risk
- 1:09:40that it had been does take it over, but I think that is so
- 1:09:43tremendously unlikely that I don't want him on my team as we
- 1:09:45said. So yeah, if you have, I think,
- 1:09:47radishes. If you have Quinn Hughes or you
- 1:09:49have Bouchard and your playoffs are week 21 to 23, are you
- 1:09:52looking to flip them for their radish given the better playoff
- 1:09:55schedule from Tampa? Or is that?
- 1:09:57Tourist like a big if you get a big plus, what if you like it?
- 1:10:01Would what if you could trade Bouchard for Darren Raddysh plus
- 1:10:03Drake Batherson? No, I don't think that's enough
- 1:10:08really to make it happen. I think I would.
- 1:10:10I think I would do that. OHP really.
- 1:10:12Yeah, yeah, I feel. Like years of like Bouchard
- 1:10:14hasn't been. Absolutely.
- 1:10:15Yeah, it's darn Radish is insane, has a better playoff
- 1:10:18schedule, and Batherson has a great playoff schedule.
- 1:10:20That's a .85 points per game player.
- 1:10:22You're not picking out waivers. But Bouchard also is like, OK,
- 1:10:26it's Bouchard. He's playing insane, but we also
- 1:10:28expected him to be a top three defenseman.
- 1:10:30Like you gotta get you gotta get enough value for like even
- 1:10:34though the numbers look the same, the gap in like, you know
- 1:10:37where they were expected to be. Like if Bouchard was performing
- 1:10:41like Cider is, then I'd be like, yeah, you know, you can do the
- 1:10:43one for one and like be happy if the person will do it off name
- 1:10:46value. But like, with the way he's been
- 1:10:47doing, you should be able to get more than that.
- 1:10:50The point of the the point of the trade is to be like, look,
- 1:10:53I'll I'll sell, I'll buy Darren Raddysh super high.
- 1:10:56I'll give you a defence bin who's doing just as good as him.
- 1:10:59And it's supposed to be doing this well, you know, but you
- 1:11:01have to give me a big plus in return to make it worth it.
- 1:11:04I think you could do better than Batson as the plus because.
- 1:11:06But if you have. To buy low, right?
- 1:11:07Now if you have radish, why am I giving up so much extra value to
- 1:11:11move to Bouchard when radish has arguably been better for
- 1:11:14stretches? Well, it's because you picked up
- 1:11:16radish off free agency and you're like, I don't know when
- 1:11:19this ride is gonna end. I'd rather just cash in on the
- 1:11:21on the cell. High.
- 1:11:22I just think it's the guy. He's kind of cemented his
- 1:11:24position and like you're gonna have to, you can't get as big of
- 1:11:27a plus on to him. He's not a waiver wire get as
- 1:11:29hot. He's like an actual top five
- 1:11:30defenseman. Yeah, I just feel like at that
- 1:11:33point I'd rather just hold Bouchard.
- 1:11:35I would do the trade. I would Thorson radish plus
- 1:11:37brotherson. Batherson is a concept.
- 1:11:40For everyone listening, yeah. Yes, he's a real person, but we
- 1:11:45simply mean like a player with high potential currently
- 1:11:49underperforming although like he's had.
- 1:11:51Really pretty good. Yeah, but like, honestly, I
- 1:11:53guess there was like, yeah, on the season exactly.
- 1:11:56Like somewhere near a point per game, good shots, heads combo
- 1:11:58with a good playoff schedule. Just to say, it doesn't always
- 1:12:01have to be Drake Batherson. Yeah, if you see someone, people
- 1:12:03are annoying. They can't be.
- 1:12:06It just flows off the tongue so well.
- 1:12:08All right, let's talk about wingers.
- 1:12:10This is for right wingers I guess, but would you rather
- 1:12:14Travis connect me or Adrian Kempe rest of season?
- 1:12:18Wow. OK, let me take a second.
- 1:12:21Because I can't just keep rushing into the guy who's been
- 1:12:24doing way better. And they're both very.
- 1:12:26Good as of late, so it's a good. Thing that's been on fire, he
- 1:12:29just played against my fantasy team, so he's been pretty off
- 1:12:32the charts. Both their names start with a K.
- 1:12:36That's really a big. Factor Connect.
- 1:12:37The Kempe, Kevin. My God, just that the names
- 1:12:43don't lie. Jake, you can go first on this
- 1:12:47one. All right, you know what I I
- 1:12:51think? I think I'm gonna go connect me
- 1:12:54here. I think it's kind of a very
- 1:12:58similar archetype of player. I believe in LA's bounce back,
- 1:13:02but I think to just connect me himself can really do like a lot
- 1:13:06of valuable things. He's got the short handed point
- 1:13:10which campaign is not gonna have.
- 1:13:11That's definitely like, you know, something in his favor
- 1:13:15that's consistent year in and year out.
- 1:13:18And also the Pimms I know as of late can be technically has
- 1:13:22more, but on the season, you know, Connect Me retired at .85,
- 1:13:27which I actually find surprising.
- 1:13:28I just think the points are going to be better.
- 1:13:30The peripheral categories are going to be comparable and then
- 1:13:32you add on the short handed points and it's just to connect
- 1:13:34and you win. But it's like you're splitting
- 1:13:37feathers. It feels like similar
- 1:13:38archetypes. So close.
- 1:13:40I think that it's super close as well.
- 1:13:43I think it's a it's a really good one.
- 1:13:44Kempe started really, really slow, but he's been heating up
- 1:13:47Connect. He's been on absolute fire
- 1:13:49lately. I don't think I know I'm not a
- 1:13:52fan of either of these power plays, so I don't trust either
- 1:13:54of them to be sustainable or enough of a difference.
- 1:13:57Shorties is a big one if you, but a lot of leaks don't count
- 1:14:00that shots going Tempest favor hits go and connect these favor
- 1:14:04Pimm's go and connect these favor and connect me has a
- 1:14:08better playoff schedule than Kempe, and I think that's that's
- 1:14:11enough to sway me in his direction.
- 1:14:13It's a it's a one game difference, but I think there's
- 1:14:16a solid off night difference as well.
- 1:14:17So I think that that helps me go with the with connecting.
- 1:14:21Yeah, I mean, this was so, so tough.
- 1:14:24I was hoping, I suppose the difference here, but to me this
- 1:14:27just feels like the one that we're like, it's so close, but
- 1:14:29Connection has been hotter, so we're leaning there.
- 1:14:32But give it a week and connecting slows down a little
- 1:14:34bit and company keeps it going. And then it would be like,
- 1:14:36alright, obviously Adrian Kempe was drafted higher, people
- 1:14:39drafted in like third round. And mostly I think Connect is
- 1:14:41more like a fifth round kind of guy.
- 1:14:43Um, so he has more of the draft pedigree, but the usual
- 1:14:46difference there is the shots like I think, I think camp
- 1:14:48usually has like around .6 to .7 more shots a game, which is
- 1:14:52noticeable when you're putting feathers, but.
- 1:14:56Yeah, it's for Connect me. They're they're both hit around
- 1:14:59the same amount. OK, last month connecting is .6
- 1:15:02more. Last season, on the average it
- 1:15:04was 1.2 Kempe 1.15 connect me so I'm like I'm.
- 1:15:07OK, same. So it's pretty much the same.
- 1:15:10Exactly. So it's kind of just like to me,
- 1:15:12this comes down to which team do you believe in more?
- 1:15:14What are the other factors that let you split the difference?
- 1:15:17Playoff schedule is a huge one. I think power play is a big one.
- 1:15:21Artemi Panarin. I was gonna.
- 1:15:22Say. I can.
- 1:15:23Both of their names are in it, right?
- 1:15:25So like Philly and LA? Maybe I'm just being naive, but
- 1:15:27I feel like first of all, if connected go, if Panera goes
- 1:15:30either of these teams, I feel like that's a huge boost for
- 1:15:33whoever else is on that team. So like big boost for
- 1:15:35connecting, boost for campaign if it happens.
- 1:15:37But there's a part of me that believes that Ellie's parable
- 1:15:41has more room to grow than Phillies.
- 1:15:42Like Phillies. I'm like not expecting things to
- 1:15:44change. Whereas LA like we're all like,
- 1:15:46it shouldn't be this bad type of thing, you know, So if you like,
- 1:15:49there's more runaway for Tempe as potential growth, but it's
- 1:15:54tough. I had to connect.
- 1:15:56I traded them away. So I feel like.
- 1:15:58Big mistake. Ahead, I'm just like, oh, did I?
- 1:16:02Did I do the right? Thing.
- 1:16:03No, you're fine. You're fine.
- 1:16:05I'm gonna go Kempe. I'm little Kempe.
- 1:16:07I just feel like I have enough of the proven product of him
- 1:16:10being better in recent years that it's so close right now.
- 1:16:13But I'm gonna give him the benefit of that finishes season
- 1:16:15stronger, alright? So I think I, I agree, I said
- 1:16:19I'm still going connecting. But I agree what you said about
- 1:16:21the power play potential. LA definitely has more I think
- 1:16:23talk It just kills offence. Yeah.
- 1:16:25Yeah, three choices. And so far, actually, Darren
- 1:16:29Radish, we were all on the same team.
- 1:16:31But yeah, so far at least, we. Have they've been tight, right?
- 1:16:34Yeah. This is the least spicy one
- 1:16:37because the lowest stakes, but would you rather rest of the
- 1:16:40season Thomas Hurdle or Jared McCann?
- 1:16:43Oh, for me it's easy isn't going I'm going to hurdle.
- 1:16:47Yeah, I think that I I like like there's hardly a lot more.
- 1:16:51I just I love his category coverage, especially in a face
- 1:16:54off wins league. But also like some of the cats
- 1:16:57he's been putting up like are insane.
- 1:16:59He'll have had a game where you had like 9 shots, like 15
- 1:17:02faceoff wins, like three hits and two blocks.
- 1:17:04It was just anyone who has that in their wheelhouse along with
- 1:17:06being on that power play. Yeah, they even strength
- 1:17:08deployments. Nothing to write home about, but
- 1:17:10I just I prefer hurt a lot. Yeah, I mean, he, he was my cell
- 1:17:16high. Oh, was it 2 weeks ago?
- 1:17:19And I, I think that, you know, you were able to at the time,
- 1:17:24like that was a conversation with Larkins, Suzuki, Stitzel,
- 1:17:26Jarvis, Kaprizov, those were the targets.
- 1:17:29And good to know that he's kind of come back to earth.
- 1:17:31And now we're comparing him to McCann, who's still good but not
- 1:17:35as good as those guys when like at the time, the basically the
- 1:17:42idea was that he was overperforming.
- 1:17:43But the back, they're still good.
- 1:17:45And I think with here that I would anticipate McCann gets
- 1:17:48more points rest of season. But the peripheral categories,
- 1:17:50like Josh said, it's just such an edge in hurdles favor,
- 1:17:53especially in a faceoff league. I guess there's an official
- 1:17:57conversation. So yeah, I guess, yeah, really.
- 1:18:02So I guess faceoffs is where hurdle really shines.
- 1:18:05Already left wing doing that. And I think it's worth
- 1:18:07mentioning, I guess, because without it, maybe it's actually
- 1:18:10a lot closer than we're thinking about, because McCann's going to
- 1:18:14get equal thought. I'd expect hurdles, hits and
- 1:18:16blocks to be better, but McCann is gonna get more points I would
- 1:18:20anticipate. Power play points.
- 1:18:23Do you think so? Yeah, Yeah.
- 1:18:25I mean, I guess I. Agree.
- 1:18:26I can suspect predict hurdle to get like.
- 1:18:30I think it's a .75 point 8 points per game player.
- 1:18:34Like last year was a .84 this season on the season is a .87.
- 1:18:37When Jacob had him as a SLI he was like by far over a point per
- 1:18:40game. So the average are still pretty
- 1:18:42skewed. But he's line three with power
- 1:18:45play 1. I can see him being like .75 or
- 1:18:48.8 with half of his points coming on the power play.
- 1:18:50And I mean, you know me, I'm the power play slut.
- 1:18:55So it's tough. I think Jeremy McConnell be a
- 1:19:01lot more consistent and he provides, I guess, slightly more
- 1:19:06category coverage for counting hits, but it's not anything to
- 1:19:10write home about. It's tough.
- 1:19:12The deployment is definitely in McCann's favor.
- 1:19:16Like the team, you know, like Mckenna's lying on power play
- 1:19:19one but on Seattle, whereas hurdles line 3 power play one
- 1:19:22but on Vegas. But we always talk about Hurdle
- 1:19:24being one of the names to be able to be bumped off the power
- 1:19:26of the one if anything happens. I think at this point in the
- 1:19:29season, like the only way he gets bumped off is if they go
- 1:19:31big name hunting and they get Panera Vegas.
- 1:19:33It's always, it's always in their wheelhouse, but I just
- 1:19:36don't see it. Yeah, I guess I'll stick with
- 1:19:40Hurdle here, but it is actually cause I just don't think the
- 1:19:44point difference is really going to make such a humongous
- 1:19:46difference in your weak, whereas at least with you have the nice
- 1:19:49floor with hurdle and the the power play points.
- 1:19:52So that's why I'm sticking with it.
- 1:19:55But I wouldn't be surprised if McCann gets more points rest of
- 1:19:57the season. This is actually, I know you
- 1:19:59said it's the least spicy, but I actually think it may be the
- 1:20:02closest one yet because it's like really, really like, I
- 1:20:06mean, I guess Todd with the connecting campaign one, but
- 1:20:08wow. Yeah, once you face off wins, it
- 1:20:12makes it a lot closer. I'm still thinking Hurdle
- 1:20:15though. I'll stick with hurdles, but by
- 1:20:17the bit. I'm also team hurdle, but I do
- 1:20:21think it's worth the conversation.
- 1:20:22To me, this is a, you know, for imagine we're like teachers or
- 1:20:25something. This is like a this is a problem
- 1:20:27of like discussing how valuable is that power play 1 exposure on
- 1:20:30a good power play team and how much value are you putting into
- 1:20:33like the difference in power play points compared to the
- 1:20:35overall value in terms of overall, no five on five points
- 1:20:38and just the category coverage. I think the power play points
- 1:20:41are just too elite. Having that much from one
- 1:20:44position spot when you know the other categories are not too far
- 1:20:47behind or even ahead in some cases.
- 1:20:49It's just too table. Yeah.
- 1:20:51You know, like what last quick, quick thing is that I know you
- 1:20:55said look, look at ones on Vegas, ones in Seattle, Seattle
- 1:20:57three points away in the standings from Vegas, and not to
- 1:21:02mention the fact that they're also one game behind.
- 1:21:04So it's looking pretty serious. But I think that this is one of
- 1:21:08those things that Seattle can just finish the year and just
- 1:21:10not be nearly as good and get bumped by one of the other teams
- 1:21:13here. The Pacific is super close other
- 1:21:16than the bottom two teams. So it's close, but I think big
- 1:21:21is a lock and that's that's kind of, yeah, just just wanted to
- 1:21:23add that in there. Alright, well, this last one is
- 1:21:27maybe the spiciest of all OHT, but I will say when I do this,
- 1:21:31would you Rathers? I like choosing players that are
- 1:21:33kind of like accessible. Like when you're picking the top
- 1:21:37end guys, no matter what we're talking about, it feels like
- 1:21:40they're not really accessible in the trade or you're already on
- 1:21:43roster, not gonna be moved. So it's not that the
- 1:21:45conversation isn't as worth it, but it's more like there's less
- 1:21:49consequences that could be had from this.
- 1:21:51So that's why I like talking about guys that are like in the
- 1:21:53middle pack a little bit of like third, second round around
- 1:21:55fourth round, guys talking about the cream of the crop right now.
- 1:21:59I wanna talk about who would you rather rest of season?
- 1:22:03It's guaranteed someone from my team.
- 1:22:04Macro celebrity or Jack Eichel? Wow, first gonna be like Austin
- 1:22:10Matthews. We can't talk about this again.
- 1:22:13That's that's a crazy one. These are both in my mind, first
- 1:22:17round picks next. Year, yeah, 100%.
- 1:22:19I think, I mean, I think they're both incredible, incredible
- 1:22:24players. They have pretty much identical
- 1:22:26playoff schedules. There's nothing, nothing etched
- 1:22:28there. They both elite shooters, elite
- 1:22:30point getters, power play has Salerno's blown up for that and
- 1:22:34now is kind of like similar to equal, if not even better over
- 1:22:36the last month. They're super similar.
- 1:22:39They both win similar amount of face off really counts that.
- 1:22:43Who do you trust longer? I mean Eichel's got more of the
- 1:22:45name value of historically proven right.
- 1:22:48So he's probably the safer bet. I think somehow Macklin has
- 1:22:53higher upside, if that's even possible.
- 1:22:55I think that there's just like if I don't know, I feel like
- 1:22:58there's like some like magic. Two things that give me make me
- 1:23:01think that Maclin has more upside one, the magic of the
- 1:23:04Olympics and him getting to play with all those guys.
- 1:23:06I think could possibly help him, even though he doesn't need
- 1:23:09help. He's already amazing. 2 San Jose
- 1:23:12could acquire A Panarin or something like that, right?
- 1:23:15Doing this with with like not to no shade to the rest of the
- 1:23:18sharks players, like Will Smith's been sick, like sidekick
- 1:23:21for him, but like he's doing this with like, you know, pretty
- 1:23:24much no help, right. He has John Klingberg, Dmitry
- 1:23:27Orlov as powerfully on quarterback.
- 1:23:28So whereas like Vegas is stacked.
- 1:23:31You know, Michael's doing this like his surroundings are not
- 1:23:33going to get better. All of that and mainly for the
- 1:23:36vibes. I'm going celebrating.
- 1:23:37As the former celebrity owner, how do you?
- 1:23:39Feel, yeah, as hi there. I'm also going to go Macklin
- 1:23:43here, which is nuts. Didn't he say, I mean, he's so
- 1:23:50do you take, do you take Matthews over Eichel out of?
- 1:23:53Curiosity. Yeah.
- 1:23:55I think Matthew is behind both of these guys.
- 1:23:57Really. Yeah.
- 1:23:59Well, I don't know. Where the kids under?
- 1:24:03Yeah, that's it. No, no, he sucks.
- 1:24:05I'm over this. Finally the truth comes out, but
- 1:24:09I. Do always probably not gonna
- 1:24:11play all season so I. Do think I do think I actually
- 1:24:14would rather math like I think it goes I still got rather
- 1:24:18Matthews. Over.
- 1:24:19Come on now. Why?
- 1:24:21I swear. How are you laughing?
- 1:24:23How do you have the argument that Matthews?
- 1:24:25I think that there's a ceiling that first of all has blocks.
- 1:24:30Is it blocking? Yeah, well, not like, not like
- 1:24:33Matthews can I just think that like, I think that there is
- 1:24:37basically what I look at Macklin's game log.
- 1:24:39It's just absolutely ridiculous. So I'm gonna take them over
- 1:24:43Eikel because there it seems like there's nowhere to go but
- 1:24:47up. I've said this, though, the
- 1:24:49opposite a few times. No, no, but I just like, I mean,
- 1:24:55OK, he can't keep doing this. Like look like yeah, his his
- 1:25:01game log is also nuts. Both of these guys are literally
- 1:25:04like like top. Seven players.
- 1:25:07Let me rephrase. I think that in Macklin's
- 1:25:10career, he's gonna be sick. I meant there's nowhere to go
- 1:25:12but up if they get another player, because Will Smith has
- 1:25:15been really the only viable asset to this team and he's been
- 1:25:20injured for so long, and Macklin was still good.
- 1:25:22If they do get a Panarin, that's crazy.
- 1:25:24Otherwise, otherwise, yeah, I think that I think that he's
- 1:25:29still going to get a little bit. That's good.
- 1:25:31But our goals also been having a career year, right, Like we we
- 1:25:36don't have we don't have celebrities averages yet.
- 1:25:40We don't know what it's like really gonna look like this is a
- 1:25:42second year. But this is basically like last
- 1:25:46year I got 94 points. That was a record and now I was
- 1:25:48on pace for 100, right? So that's the type of thing that
- 1:25:52you can get from him. And I think celebrity could just
- 1:25:54like outpace him slightly, get a bit better shots.
- 1:25:58And even though the power play may work in Michael's favor, I
- 1:26:02just feel like there's, at this point in the season, nobody more
- 1:26:06telematic to their. About to say.
- 1:26:09Than celebrity. Like 2 lover talibans.
- 1:26:13Maybe Kucherov, maybe. But those are like that.
- 1:26:18That's. That's that's true.
- 1:26:19You know, I find the good point. Celebrity is the most talented
- 1:26:22celebrity should win the heart, I guess, down by that.
- 1:26:25That's done, yeah. That's that's actually
- 1:26:28potentially feasible and makes sense.
- 1:26:29Yeah, like the difference points between him and the next guy on
- 1:26:32the team is like 40 points. No, it's ridiculous.
- 1:26:35It's absolutely insane. So yeah, celebrity is my choice
- 1:26:38and I still expect them both to get like a little bit more down
- 1:26:43to earth normal. I could finish between 95 and
- 1:26:46100, right? I was on pace for 100.
- 1:26:48So that's basically whatever. And then sell Labrini.
- 1:26:50I mean, with his pace, this is like just off the charts.
- 1:26:54It's he is right now on pace to score 122 points.
- 1:27:01I think it's gonna be more like 110.
- 1:27:04I think it's gonna be 200. That's it.
- 1:27:08So yeah, celebrity is my choice. I hate it.
- 1:27:12I don't really. Because he's so he's good.
- 1:27:14He's really, really good. So he's really good.
- 1:27:17But are you Kevin? Well, first of all, do you
- 1:27:19regret your trade, Jake? Your no.
- 1:27:22At. This He ranked Matthews above
- 1:27:23both these guys so. I at this match is getting 100
- 1:27:27and. 20 points. You heard it here first.
- 1:27:29No, I always said celebrity was gonna get more points than
- 1:27:33Matthews. I thought the whole thing with
- 1:27:35Matthews was the Shaw's face. Books and blogs were gonna be
- 1:27:37consistent and like, celebrities were gonna come back to earth.
- 1:27:39But it doesn't seem like that's happening.
- 1:27:41Unless like he just decides to have a totally different
- 1:27:44approach to his game after the Olympic break, which maybe he
- 1:27:48will. I think that celebrity is gonna
- 1:27:50be insane rest of season. So I don't know, I, I, I, I
- 1:27:54can't imagine a player is gonna play 90 points or what, or 90
- 1:27:58games. No, maybe what 87 in a season at
- 1:28:02a 19 year old and maintain this insane pace the whole time
- 1:28:05Doesn't feel normal. Like nobody does that in this
- 1:28:08day and age. So if he does that, then we have
- 1:28:11a, the next Crosby McDavid on our hands.
- 1:28:14It's. Nuts.
- 1:28:14I mean, I don't know if you've been seeing like stuff that the
- 1:28:16other Team Canada players are saying, but they're like, I
- 1:28:19think it was, I forget who had an interview recently was like,
- 1:28:21yeah, I can't wait to play with like someone like the greats.
- 1:28:24You know, I think it was a, there was an article published
- 1:28:27like a McDavid wrote like kind of like a interview with him,
- 1:28:30whatever. And he was saying he was looking
- 1:28:32forward to playing for Team Canada.
- 1:28:33He's like, yeah, you've got like the greats, like, you know, like
- 1:28:36the like older generation, like Crosby, you know, and then he's
- 1:28:39like, and then you've got like guys like celebrity and like it
- 1:28:41wasn't like the same sentence, you know, like it's like people
- 1:28:44are just as excited to play with like Sylvia as they are to play
- 1:28:46with Crosby. Like that's nuts.
- 1:28:48It is. Yeah.
- 1:28:50Are you picking? I'm going.
- 1:28:52I go. I knew he was going level 1
- 1:28:56hater. No, I love celebrity.
- 1:28:59Fine, I think you didn't. Although they didn't have one
- 1:29:03team. I think I was gonna get him on
- 1:29:04my team this year. Um, but the, yeah, I to me, it's
- 1:29:09just, these are two of the top five to seven players in the NHL
- 1:29:13right now for fantasy hockey and you can't go wrong either way,
- 1:29:17right? So we're splitting feathers.
- 1:29:18But to me, Jack Eichel is in a way better situation.
- 1:29:21I feel like he's way safer of a player of this high elite
- 1:29:25caliber that to me, I'm taking that over the risk of, yeah,
- 1:29:30maybe celebrating ends with .1 better, but I think he could
- 1:29:33finish with like .3 less potentially, you know what I
- 1:29:35mean? And just because he's a young
- 1:29:38player, we don't really know where the, the average is going
- 1:29:40to settle. And he's like Josh said multiple
- 1:29:43times, like the second best guy seems got 40 less points on him.
- 1:29:46Like, that's insane, right? So.
- 1:29:49Yeah, he I've never seen this like outside like like this
- 1:29:54point share is ridiculous. It's nuts.
- 1:29:57He just every time. This record sounds his record
- 1:30:00without like celebrity, like getting a point is like 111 and
- 1:30:04two. It's like that.
- 1:30:05Yeah, it's not just crazy. Every time they get a point I'm
- 1:30:09like can't believe I traded him because I don't even bother.
- 1:30:12Looking literally. We're wrapping up.
- 1:30:19Yeah, that's right. Yeah, this is a long ass
