- 0:21with fascinating guests, authors, and experts who will guide us to Destination unlimited.
- 0:34Is there a connection between life, death, and the beyond? Is
- 0:39there an afterlife? And if so, what lessons may we learn from it?
- 0:45And those who have passed on? My guest this week on Destination Unlimited.
- 0:50Nicole Strickland has researched these questions virtually her entire life, including personal experiences
- 0:58which led to many answers. One of the leading paranormal and afterlife researchers on
- 1:03the West Coast, Nicole Strickland has been interested in the supernatural since childhood.

- 1:42The Afterlife Chronicles, exploring the connection between life, death, and beyond.
- 1:51Please join me in welcoming to Destination Unlimited Nicole Strickland. Welcome, Nicole,
- 1:57Hello, Thank you so much for having me. It's such an honor,
- 2:01Nicole. I have to congratulate you on your latest book, The Afterlife
- 2:07Chronicles. It is a marvelous and engaging compendium of paranormal and spiritual knowledge and
- 2:13experience, written with care and compassion. So congratulations, Thank you so much.
- 2:20Those words really make my heart shine. So thank you so so much.
- 2:23You're very welcome. And before we discuss this book, please share with
- 2:28our listeners your early experiences and how they set the stage for your path.
- 2:34Sounds good. I'll try to do the paraphras version, or else would be
- 2:38here all day. So I'm one of these that And I know this may
- 2:42sound cheesy in a way, but I feel like as if I was born
- 2:46into the field of paranormal research and afterlife study. It's just a feeling I
- 2:52get, and I had experiences that I couldn't explain going as far back as
- 2:59when I was four year years old, maybe before that, and I just
- 3:00don't remember about four or five years old. And so I was born in
- 3:05Huntington Beach, California. Now I reside in San Diego. But when I
- 3:09was about one years old, we moved to my mom, dad and I
- 3:13moved to Las Vegas, Nevada. And so at the time, fast forward
- 3:17to when I was about four and a half five, we had a pool
- 3:20in our backyard and it was summertime, and it was about dusk, you
- 3:23know, the sun was just starting to go down, and so we got
- 3:25out of the pool and we were drying off, and I distinctly remember this.
- 3:30I saw this floating dark gray. It wasn't really black, it was
- 3:36more like a dark may gray sort of missed kind of float like by us.
- 3:44And I remember asking my mom and dad. I was like, mommy,
- 3:47Daddy, did you see that draft? Now I have no idea why
- 3:53at the age of four and a half or five I would have chosen that
- 3:55word draft to explain what I saw. But I just see remember asking that,
- 4:00and so even above that, not above it, but in addition to
- 4:05it, there was I surmise maybe from the eighteen hundreds, a man,
- 4:12a male spirit from the gold rush days, perhaps, and I would communicate
- 4:15with him so often. I'm sure my parents at the time probably thought I
- 4:19was talking to an imaginary friend. I was of that age. So,
- 4:25but this interest into mainly ghosts and haunting's, historic locations, the afterlife.
- 4:32I mean, there's all kinds of different categories of the paranormal, and my
- 4:35main focus is ghosts and spirits, haunted locations, afterlife studies. That just
- 4:45grew as I got older, and I would pretty much read anything I could
- 4:48on a subject. Now, fast forward to when I was a student at
- 4:53the University of Arizona. It was my senior year, and it was October
- 4:58twenty fourth. Yes, of course it was so my grandmother, my mom's
- 5:01mom. So my maternal grandmother called me the day before she passed and she
- 5:06wanted to know if I was okay. I thought at the time, well,
- 5:10this is just random, this is odd. But I talked with her
- 5:13and we had a great discussion and then got off the phone. The following
- 5:16morning, on October twenty fifth, by the way, which is my mom's
- 5:19birthday. So her daughter, of course, she called me. My mom
- 5:26called me and said, and I knew from the tone of her voice that
- 5:28something wasn't right, And so my mom called me proceeded to tell me I
- 5:32love you, sweetie. But Grandma passed away, and I was devastated.
- 5:35Of course, went out to San Diego, spent time with the family for
- 5:39a few days, and when I got back to Tucson, Arizona, where
- 5:43the University of Arizona's base, I started having these odd experiences in my apartment
- 5:47that I did not experience at all prior to her passing. Now, at
- 5:51first I brushed them off as well, I'm in an apartment, it's my
- 5:56neighbor's making noise, it's vibration, it's anything else, you know, than
- 5:59the parentormal. And so it started off with the doorknobs, specifically my front
- 6:04door and my bedroom door would rattle by themselves. And an interesting I guess
- 6:10caveat to that is when my grandmother was alive, she would go around her
- 6:15house at night and check the doorknobs to make sure they were locked. I
- 6:19still wasn't convinced. Then a couple of nights later, I was on my
- 6:24bed doing I think I had my laptop out writing a paper or something,
- 6:27and I felt I didn't see anything, but I felt this disembodied hand touched
- 6:31my face and it felt as if it came from someone I knew and loved.
- 6:34It was just that energy. I knew it was someone familiar. Fast
- 6:39forward even a couple of nights later. This all occurred within about a week's
- 6:42time. Again, I was in my room on my bed with my laptop
- 6:46out, and I out of my left peripheral vision, I saw something.
- 6:49And when I looked over, there was my grandmother, full bodied. It
- 6:55looked as though she had a spotlight shining against her and it created this white,
- 7:00bright halo around her. She was looked appear, she appeared about ten
- 7:04years younger, She had a smile on her face, she was wearing one
- 7:08of her favorite blue and white dresses, and it seemed to last for about
- 7:12two maybe three seconds, and then she just demanifested and faded right then and
- 7:15there. And that experience really culminated me into the research that I do today.
- 7:21And at first I thought, and I still wonder, was this some
- 7:26sort of a bereavement hallucination on my part? Did I project this from grief?
- 7:30But I really do think that this was some sort of visitation. I
- 7:35asked other family members, they didn't have it. It just seems to be
- 7:39me. So I think that my grandmother knew, maybe obviously before I did,
- 7:45that I would really like to be active in this field, and that
- 7:48I could really sense and communicate with spiritual energies. And so I thank her.
- 7:54I'm indebted to her for this because she got me on the path of
- 7:57being in this field and it's a huge passion. It's a labor of love,
- 8:01and I've learned so much on the way. And it's interesting that she
- 8:05passed away on her daughter's birthday, and so my mom always thinks, you
- 8:09know, well, maybe that's maybe there's a gift in there for me with
- 8:13that. I don't know, but it was just a really phenomenal experience.
- 8:18And I had a comparable experience with my paternal grandfather that I'll share a little
- 8:22bit later. But you've written several books on the famous ship, the RMS
- 8:28Queen Mary. For listeners not familiar with this storied vessel, please share with
- 8:33us your experience is researching and investigating her. Absolutely, the RMS Queen Mary
- 8:39has a huge spot in my heart. It's a soul love that I have
- 8:43with the ship. So let me start out with just a very basic,
- 8:48basic overview of the Queen Mary. So her design concepts began in nineteen twenty
- 8:52six, and this was a time when other countries were competing to see who
- 8:56could have the largest, fastest, you know, most luxurious liner. And
- 9:00so those concepts started in nineteen twenty six, and so she was constructed in
- 9:07nineteen thirty four. Her work was halted due to the depression, but people
- 9:13would send in letters to Sir Percy Bates, the kunarcha Kunard chairperson at that
- 9:18time, and they would, you know, they would tell him, you
- 9:22know, the ship needs to be finished, it needs to be done.
- 9:24And so obviously she resumed her building and basically beat the depression at that point.
- 9:33And so her building she finished that in nineteen thirty four and she was
- 9:39designated as Job five three four. Now, her Majesty Queen Mary of Tech
- 9:45is the one that christened her the Queen Mary, the RMS Queen Mary,
- 9:48Royal Maleship Queen Mary. And during the launch September twenty sixth, nineteen thirty
- 9:54four, it was a huge celebration. They crashed like an Australian ball a
- 9:58line against the bows, massive, massive achievement. And then her maiden voyage
- 10:03took place May twenty seventh, nineteen thirty six, and so she was an
- 10:07ocean liner, not a cruise ship. So her route was from Southampton to
- 10:13Sherburg, France, to New York City and back. And so she carried
- 10:16both pre war, pre World War two and post World War two people from
- 10:20all walks of life, celebrities, actors, actresses, business moguls, members
- 10:26of the aristocracy, students, people from all walks of life, and it
- 10:31was just it's an amazing, amazing vessel people. She was known as like
- 10:35a palace on the seas basically, and then also the Ship of Beautiful Woods
- 10:41because there were fifty six different varieties of woods from all over the world that
- 10:45were used in her interior appointments inside the ship. And so then when World
- 10:50War Two was imminent, she was requisitioned as a troop ship, mainly for
- 10:54two reasons her size and her speed, along with her sister Liner of the
- 10:58Armist Queen Elizabeth, and so she during the full length of World War Two
- 11:03was a troop ship. She was a hospital ship at one point, carrying
- 11:07injured soldiers to the United Kingdom and of course participated in carrying war brides.
- 11:13All in all, I think she's probably carried around twenty two thousand war brides.
- 11:18I'm even friends with one of them who was on the first wave of
- 11:22war brides in February of nineteen forty six, and so a huge, huge
- 11:28undertaking. During World War Two, her efforts, along with other ships,
- 11:33of course, helped save the lives of many men, women and children and
- 11:37lessened the war by about two years. So. And then after the war
- 11:43was done and she was basically resumed her pre war status as an ocean liner
- 11:50that same route New York Sherburg, France and our Southampton Sherburn, France and
- 11:54New York. And then in nineteen sixty seven there were various bids from all
- 12:01over to get the Queen Mary in Long Beach, California, one out at
- 12:05three point four five million, and she's been moored there ever since since December
- 12:11ninth, nineteen sixty seven, commanded by Captain John Treasure Jones, and he
- 12:15is credited as saying the Queen Mary is closest to a human being of any
- 12:20ship I ever commanded. And that's something very interesting because in my research since
- 12:26two thousand and five, I've talked with so many people for even current crew
- 12:31of today, former crew captain's, commodore's, other crew members, even war
- 12:37brides World War Two servicemen who sailed on the Queen Mary, and they felt
- 12:41this kinship to her. They aliveness to her, like she has this soul.
- 12:48And I would have to agree, she's a very sentient vessel, and
- 12:50I think there's I think it's one of the main reasons why she's touted as
- 12:56being one of the most haunted places in the world. I don't like using
- 13:00the word haunted because it has this negative connotation, but very paranormal at paranormally
- 13:05active on board. And I think there's this duality between the ship being sentient
- 13:11and one giant spirit and then her human energies that choose to reside on her
- 13:16and or those that come through passing through. Maybe they choose to stay,
- 13:20maybe they choose to leave. But it's it's such an amazing historic vessel that
- 13:26I'm still learning history from the Queen Mary. And so I had to write
- 13:31three books. I just had to because of the love I have, and
- 13:35so the first two are are basically paranormal and historical overviews, and then the
- 13:41third book, Are Miss Queen Mary Voices from her Voyages was a labor of
- 13:46love as well, and I interview took about two years to write because I
- 13:50had to interview former crew and former passengers and war brides and veterans. I
- 13:54even got permission to republish some stories as well, from her maiden voyage and
- 14:00other times in our history. And they're sold on board in Long Beach as
- 14:05well, and they do well on there, and it's such an honor.
- 14:07But the historical research, I mean, I'm still learning to this day.
- 14:13There's so much to learn about about the Queen Mary. So interesting hearing you
- 14:18describe your experiences and your research. You feel an affinity with this ship,
- 14:24almost like a sole level affinity. Absolutely, absolutely, And I forgot to
- 14:28say too when I the first time I stepped on board and I was introduced
- 14:33back in two thousand again, was at the University of Arizona and came back
- 14:37out here in San Diego, Southern California for spring break and a friend and
- 14:41I actually took one of those three day carnival cruises, and so I was
- 14:46first introduced to the Queen Mary from the backseat of a car, and I
- 14:48remember staring at the Queen Mary, this beautiful historic ship, and something told
- 14:54me, you know, Nicole, you're going to be back there someday.
- 14:56So fast forward in two thousand and five, I have the second I stepped
- 15:01foot on a deck, and that's one of her hotel decks. I felt
- 15:05It's hard to explain, but I felt an instantaneous soul connection, like I've
- 15:11been there before. Everything about it was familiar. This just instant like love,
- 15:18and it felt like everything was right at that moment. And so it's
- 15:22happened to others. That's a blessed experience. That really is a blessing.
- 15:26M I agree, and it's just it's it's it's my second home really,
- 15:31So yeah, absolutely, you've done many investigations. What advice and perhaps code
- 15:39of ethics would you espouse to others in the paranormal field. Great question,
- 15:46And I'm going to preface this by saying that I'm sick and tired of the
- 15:52sensationalism of the BS. I'm sick and tired of people exploiting the paranormal,
- 15:58exploiting the spirit realm, even other dimensions, even energies, even cryptids.
- 16:03For example, whatever the entity. Maybe I'm tired of people being in the
- 16:11field for the wrong reasons. Maybe they're just nothing but thrill seeking. There's
- 16:15nothing wrong with that, don't get me wrong, but exploiting it for their
- 16:18own needs. Maybe they want to just be famous, maybe they just want
- 16:22to copy what they're seeing on TV. Whatever the silly reason is, I'm
- 16:26sick and tired of that. I'm one of these people that really takes this
- 16:30work seriously. It's something that needs to be approached without an ego. It's
- 16:34something that needs to be approached with humility, with integrity, with dignity,
- 16:40and with respect. And so you're going to get a lot more with your
- 16:44results by applying the Golden rule and treating these energies in the locations and even
- 16:49your fellow co teammates with respect and dignity. That's what that's what it all
- 16:56deserves. And so that's my main advice. So I would also ask people
- 17:02to ask themselves, why do you want to be in this field? What
- 17:07are your reasons? And if it's something very silly and maybe you know,
- 17:12not really, maybe it's a sensational reason. I don't know, Maybe it's
- 17:17just a silly reason. Well, you know, I really would like you
- 17:21to ask yourself why you want to be in this field, what is your
- 17:23goal, what is your purpose? Because it entails a lot more than just,
- 17:30you know, prouncing around a historical location and just in hopes of seeing
- 17:33a ghost. There's a lot that goes into it, and especially when people
- 17:38when families call and say they're having manifestations in their home and are looking for
- 17:42help. Right in that, I'm glad you brought that up, because over
- 17:48the years I've become way more selective with private homes and even businesses. I'm
- 17:55talking about non historic locations because there could be very reasons. I mean,
- 18:00I'm seeing this trend where people are blaming and I'm not trying to criticize people,
- 18:07but it's sometimes easier to blame something without looking inward and seeing maybe if
- 18:12you're causing it. Right, So these people think that, oh my gosh,
- 18:17all these problems I have in my life, Well, it's the paranormal's
- 18:19fault, it's the ghosts fault. And that's not always the case. So
- 18:22you really have to take these cases and treat them a lot like social work,
- 18:26and do extensive interviews and try to determine if there's any mental or physical
- 18:30illness, anything that could maybe be harmful to these clients, should a team
- 18:37go in and pursue an investigation or case study. I mean, I know
- 18:41groups. I've some of my good friends who are very good researchers. They've
- 18:47had experiences where they'll be like an hour or so into an investigation a private
- 18:52residence and then they find out that the homeowners or rents are trying to cause
- 18:59activity or fake things. And so you really have to really do extensive research
- 19:03in history just to determine that you know that it's that it's safe to proceed,
- 19:08not only for your safety, but for their safety as well. And
- 19:12the other thing that would disturb me about some of these shows, some of
- 19:15these sensationless programs, is this concept of provoking spirit provoking ghosts. To me,
- 19:23that is the essence of a person who was once alive and walking around
- 19:27in a body. And if they were standing in front of me, alive
- 19:30in their body, I would not say the things that some of these people
- 19:33say to them. It's disgusting, isn't it. I you know, and
- 19:37that there's an experience here I several years ago. I don't watch these shows,
- 19:41I don't, but there was one night where I happened to have the
- 19:44channel on and there was one of these, you know, it's a famous
- 19:47show that's been on for a while, and the scene was one of the
- 19:52investigators up somewhere. I'd forget the location, but was just provoking and demanding
- 19:59the end energies to speak and really saying things like the F word to them
- 20:03and things like that, and I mean, it actually brought tears to my
- 20:08eyes. But that's the type of stuff that I just can't take. And
- 20:14it's horrible. It's just it's it's horrible. Would you go up to a
- 20:17stranger in the grocery store and just start, you know, demanding them to
- 20:21answer your questions? No, you wouldn't. You would want to, you
- 20:23know, build rapport and get to know them and all of that. So
- 20:26respect and dignity for spirit as well as for the human being and exactly absolutely
- 20:33What inspired your new book, The Afterlife Chronicles, exploring the connection between life,
- 20:38death and beyond. Oh, that's a good question. This, of
- 20:42course was the labor of love as well, and it only took about under
- 20:45a year to write, but in essence, it took my entire lifespan,
- 20:52because in there is just you know, a lifespan of experiences and insights and
- 21:00theories, and you know, information from other people. I have many contributors
- 21:03in the book who opted to share very personal, very profound stories with spirit,
- 21:11and so it was just a really big labor of love. I tend
- 21:15to I'm still in the paranormal, but I think my true passion really lies
- 21:21with afterlife studies, and so to be able to write something on that,
- 21:26it's always been a dream of mine. And it's just it's like I put
- 21:30my heart into it, you know, and you can I hopefully people can
- 21:33tell when they read it that, wow, this author really has a passion
- 21:37for what she's writing about. So but and then then all the contributions really
- 21:41support the different types of discussions I have in the book and the different topics,
- 21:48so there's stories throughout. So it was a lot of fun. Her
- 21:52book is called The Afterlife Chronicles, exploring the connection between life, death and
- 21:57Beyond. Nicole Strickland, please tell our listeners where they can get your books

- 24:49week Nicole Strickland, her book The Afterlife Chronicles exploring the connection between life,
- 24:56death, and beyond call. You make a point of delineating the difference between
- 25:03with what most of us know as ghosts and spirits. Please share with us
- 25:08the difference between ghosts and spirits. Sure thing, Now, I want to
- 25:15say this that you know I have not been in that realm. So for
- 25:19me to sit here and say I absolutely, with one hundred percent certainty,
- 25:25can tell you what the differences are. Well, I kind of would be
- 25:27lying in a way, but based on theory and based on other people's experiences
- 25:33and research and all of that, we seem to think now and I get
- 25:38caught doing this, even myself, sometimes using the words interchangeably because it's easy
- 25:44to do that. But there is there seems to be a difference between the
- 25:48two. So a ghost or earth bounds as many people call them, our
- 25:55energies of obviously human beings or animals that have passed on, that have physically
- 26:03died, if you will, so their body is no longer functioning, but
- 26:07yet haven't necessarily advanced through the higher ranks of spirithood. So they're here more,
- 26:15here on this plane by choice. It can be voluntary. It could
- 26:19be involuntary by choice. Maybe they had a drastic accident sadly, maybe they
- 26:25don't know they're gone. That's a very tragic situation, like with crisis apparitions
- 26:30and energies of that nature. Or maybe they choose to stay. Maybe they're
- 26:37feeling they're surviving loved one's grief and they're choosing to stay. Or maybe it's
- 26:41they're they're drawn to a location. For example, some of the energies on
- 26:45board the Queen Mary choose to stay there, you know, it's unfinished business,
- 26:51whatever the reason may be. And so a spirit is someone that a
- 26:56maybe was under earthbound at one point and then is able to move on and
- 27:02transcend the earthbound a state, if you will, and then move on to
- 27:07spirit hoood, or maybe they directly moved on to it right after physical death.
- 27:14So it's they're both. They're similar and different in the sense of course
- 27:17that they both deal with human energies that are now passed on. But spirit
- 27:25is just maybe a little bit more advanced, maybe has come to terms with
- 27:27his or her issues whatever is keeping them in the earthly plane, and they
- 27:33just are a little bit more advanced in the afterlife and kind of ascending the
- 27:40ranks of it, if you will. So that's kind of how I would
- 27:42put it. But it's hard. I get caught in using the words interchangeably,
- 27:48and like whenever I do. I was like, oh God, I
- 27:49correct myself because but it's easy to do. Absolutely, you had talked about
- 27:55your experience with the spirit of your grandmother. I was one of those kids
- 27:59growing up in nineteen fifties who was labeled as having an overactive imagination, a
- 28:06label that was given to me because of what I shared with adults that no
- 28:08one else saw or experienced was admitted or at least admitted to seeing an experience.
- 28:15I was very I was very close to my paternal grandfather, and remember
- 28:18being in my room reading, looking up and seeing him standing in front of
- 28:22me. I asked him, Grandpa, where did you When did you come
- 28:26in? And he just smiled, and within a few minutes he disappeared.
- 28:30I went into the living room and told my parents, who chided me for
- 28:33imagining things. A few minutes later, a call came with the news of
- 28:37my grandfather's passing. Now you share similar experiences in the afterlife chronicles. Why
- 28:42do our departed loved ones communicate with the living? And how may this manifest
- 28:48for others, especially for those who perhaps are not open to this phenomenon.
- 28:52It's such an intriguing, fascinating concept. And you know, it's an individual
- 28:59case by case basis because the reasons could be, you know, uh many,
- 29:06There could be many reasons. You could have ten different people that have
- 29:10a similar experience. For maybe the reason as to why they're departed loved one
- 29:14visited is different from the next. It's it's so fascinating. But I you
- 29:18know, in the book I do talk about and this is just my opinion,
- 29:21reasons for why spiritual energies communicate with us. I think part of it
- 29:26is to keep in touch. Maybe they want to help us with our grief.
- 29:33Maybe it's to warn us of uh, you know, potential danger.
- 29:37There's a story in my book that talks about that. It's kind of a
- 29:41long story, but it's when you get to the end of it you can
- 29:45see why. Well, maybe maybe that's true. Maybe spiritual energy is just
- 29:48no and no one. Maybe we're going to be in danger and they're trying
- 29:52to prevent it. So there's a lot of different reasons. Maybe it's to
- 29:56educate us on something. I I also think it's to show us that that
- 30:03life exists in the beyond, that when we die, it's not an end,
- 30:07it's a beginning, that there's life that goes on. I mean,
- 30:10if you reverse the word after life, you get life after, right,
- 30:14So it's to demonstrate that. But you know your experience, I mean,
- 30:18that's interesting. There is a story in my book. I think it's Marie
- 30:22d. Jones story, and she also lives in San Diego, and she
- 30:25talks about something very similar that you experienced. And perhaps you know, he
- 30:32knew you could sense him, and you know, that's kind of what I
- 30:34think. That's it's a beautiful experience though. Absolutely, Now you mentioned your
- 30:40experience with your grandmother jiggling the doorknobs and other things, my experience seeing my
- 30:44grandfather. What are some of the ways or signs, other ways or signs
- 30:48in which this communication may manifest. Absolutely, there's there's many different ways,
- 30:52and again every every case is different. But going to some of the more
- 30:59obvious you may see the an apparitional or full bodied sighting of your departed loved
- 31:07ones. You may hear them. You may hear them disembodied, maybe when
- 31:11you're around the house and you hear them. If you're an investigator and you're
- 31:15doing electronic voice phenomena sessions or spirit box sessions, ITC sessions, they may
- 31:21come through that I haven't experience with that. Actually I can share You're just
- 31:27you may sense them and see. This is the one that's hard for people
- 31:32because our logical minds want to try to automatically say nope, nope, that
- 31:37didn't happen, right. But if you're open to that, and if you're
- 31:41feeling in your heart and soul and you sense someone there with you, hang
- 31:45on to that. Pay attention to that because that is your own intuitive voice
- 31:48letting you know. Synchronicity is a big one. You may see or have
- 31:56experiences that are synchronous in nature that For example, let me use my cat
- 32:01Kayley. When my cat Kayley passed away, and she had a brother named
- 32:07Max and they were litera mates, and so like the day after she passed,
- 32:12I was actually driving and I think I was on my way to Starbucks,
- 32:15and I was at a stoplight and I saw these two birds dance in
- 32:20unison like I've never seen two birds dance in unison before. And instantly what
- 32:25came to me is, Wow, this is some sort of symbolic message letting
- 32:30me know that Max and Kayley are reunited. So pay attention to those synchronicities.
- 32:34That's a huge one. Dream visitations is another one. I've had very
- 32:38profound dream visitationous, especially with my cat Kayley, but not the typical types
- 32:44of dreams. These are dreams where it's almost like a dream visitation mixed in
- 32:50with a nastrall projection where I'm Kaylee. I'm able to even though I'm a
- 32:53technically asleep, I'm able to feel her and see her and communicate with her
- 33:00while dreaming. It's very, very profound. So those are some ways in
- 33:06my experience and in talking with others where you can really those are signs of
- 33:12spirit communication. And just even look animal behavior, you know, I think
- 33:19there's a story in there too in the book where you know the person's dog
- 33:23is behaving in a unique way to what's going on. So but it's just
- 33:30my main advice is to trust your intuition. And trust what your heart is
- 33:35telling you, and to look for those synchronous signs. Maybe they come through
- 33:38in music, maybe they come through and objects, maybe they come through and
- 33:44times. For example, the time my grandmother passed around four forty five am
- 33:50and my cat Max passed at around four forty five PM. Of course different
- 33:53days, different different years, but synchronous e synchronous. Wise, I seemed
- 34:00to see or be looking at a clock right when it's four forty four or
- 34:05four or forty five, and so pay attention to those. Absolutely. I'm
- 34:08going to share a rather personal story. I had a life changing relationship with
- 34:15a wonderful woman named Judy, and she transitioned in January of nineteen ninety eight.
- 34:20Wow, And it was life changing in so many ways. And I'm
- 34:22not going to take up your time right now, I'm going to I'll share
- 34:24it with you personally. But the day that she passed, I went and
- 34:29I made the funeral arrangements, and I came home and we had two cats,
- 34:34and I was exhausted and I was grieving, and I laid down on
- 34:37the bed, laid down face first, and I felt flump, plump,
- 34:40and the two cats got onto the bed and they sat down like two little
- 34:45sphinxes in front of me by my head, and I was looking at them,
- 34:50and all of a sudden, their gaze went above the ceiling and then
- 34:52started following emotion as if something was coming down from the ceiling in the back,
- 34:59and I felt these two hands rubbing my back and I knew it was
- 35:01her telling me that she was fine and that she loved me, and thank
- 35:06you's. And I'm getting tears hearing that. That's exactly how the spirit world
- 35:10works. Yeah, that's how it works. And when you can have an
- 35:14encounter like that that is life changing, that helps you with your grief,
- 35:20it's soul changing. You just have to hold onto it. That's that's a
- 35:24beautiful, beautiful story. Absolutely, thank you. Yeah. In the Afterlife
- 35:30chronicles, you share how many cultures understand the afterlife? Please share one or
- 35:35two that stand out for you. Yeah, I know there's Yeah, I
- 35:37talk about that, and it's interesting, you know, since the dawning of
- 35:42man, how people, even going back thousands of years, how people from
- 35:46various cultures, various religious backgrounds, have this interest in not only what happens
- 35:52to us when we physically die, if we ever do really die, that's
- 35:57a whole other concept, but different thoughts and perspectives on on what happens to
- 36:04us when we do pass away. So, uh you know, the reincarnation
- 36:09aspect is something that that really fascinates me. In different cultures believe in that
- 36:15you know that when we pass on, we are going to reincarnate, uh
- 36:19in in someone else and you know, continue that way. So that that
- 36:22really really stands out. I even going back into the Egyptian type of culture
- 36:30and back in those days, how they would revere the dead and have you
- 36:36know, these various ceremonies, and you know, when you think of you
- 36:39know, the tombs in Egypt and Egypt and the pyramids, it's it's it's
- 36:45it's showcasing like a respect and a reverence to the deceased. And so that
- 36:51that's something that I really like about that. But it just goes to show
- 36:54that no matter what culture culture you ascribe to or religious and there's always this
- 37:01this fascination with what happens to us when we pass on and where do we
- 37:07go after we transition. So that's why I included it in the book.
- 37:13In your book, you share something fascinating about what some people believe to be
- 37:17demonic. Please explain. Oh my gosh. Yeah, this is a very
- 37:22very controversial subject, and I know not everyone's going to agree, and that's
- 37:27fine. I mean, that's fine. We are all, you know,
- 37:29it's we're all different. We can you know, agree, disagree. That's
- 37:34fine. But I have a different perspective on demons and all of that.
- 37:37And really the concept of a demon again applies to various cultures, different religions,
- 37:45but you know, pretty much started with religion really, if you think
- 37:51about it, and in the paranormal world, I'm strictly speaking of that.
- 37:55I don't believe that. Let me let me say it this way. I
- 38:00think that, uh, the percentages of people coming or writing teams to investigate
- 38:06because they feel a demon is in their house or something malevolent and malevolent can
- 38:10be applied to human and and and and demonic entities as well. Um.
- 38:16But uh, you know, for the many people think just because of their
- 38:21experiences and maybe their religious predispositions, you know, help them feel this way.
- 38:27I don't know, but they'll say, oh my gosh, I have
- 38:30a demon in my house. It's it's evil, it's trying to hurt me,
- 38:31it's trying to harm me. Honestly, I think I would. I
- 38:37I mean, I don't know if I'm going to throw a percentage out here,
- 38:39but I would say the majority of these alleged demonic situations are caused by
- 38:45the living, and it's either through whatever, um you know, the internal
- 38:52baggage they have, and they're projecting it out word. They're creating a tulpa
- 38:59or you know, a living thought form. They're creating it. And maybe
- 39:04that's what a demon really is. Maybe it's one big giant tulpa. I
- 39:07know there have been cases, and I'm not saying that maybe demons don't exist.
- 39:09I just don't think they exist prevalent like what people claim. And so
- 39:16that's just my thought on it. I think a lot of it could be
- 39:19caused just psychological projections on the part of the living. Explain for our listeners
- 39:24the word tulpa. Yeah, tulpa is an interesting thing. So if you're
- 39:29familiar with James I think it's James Hilton's novel Lost Horizon, the whole fictional
- 39:34paradise of Shangry Law. Right, We've heard that that's an example of a
- 39:38tulpa. So it's basically I think it's Tibetan language. It means manifestation or
- 39:45emanation. So when you give something, if you're thinking about something and you're
- 39:52giving a lot of thought day after day onto something, well maybe that thing
- 39:57that you're giving thought to creates its own life, for it starts to come
- 40:00to life. That's an example of a tulpa. And so with this whole
- 40:05demonic sort of situation, a lot of these shows now on TV are starting
- 40:09to focus on demonic, this, malevolent that, and so it's almost creating
- 40:15this big tumble weed of negative energy. And it's causing other people that maybe
- 40:20are gullible or naive or don't really know anything to then ascribe to what entertainment
- 40:25is telling us. And so in a sense, it's creating this one gigantic,
- 40:30big tulpa. Right. So, and it's interesting because over the years
- 40:35I've seen in the percentages of private residence requests that have come my way in
- 40:40the last few years, the majority of them think they have something evil and
- 40:45negative in their home. And that goes right along with a theme of entertainment
- 40:50focusing on this stuff actually, and so you know, it's just it's it's
- 40:54it's hard. It's hard to have to contend with it. But you know
- 41:00shared we shared about being openly intuitive as young children. How would you describe
- 41:05intuition and how may your readers and our listeners open their intuitive selves. So
- 41:10intuition and psychic senses or channeling those go hand in hand. Intuition is something
- 41:17that is ingrained in all of us. It's it's like an invisible survival mechanism
- 41:24or a survival compass that helps guide us to safety or guide us to where
- 41:31we are supposed to be at any given moment in time. And so that
- 41:37in a way is the building block to developing someone's you know, psychic senses,
- 41:43the six Claies, Clairvoyance, Claire, Audience, Claugustine's all of that,
- 41:49and then so they pretty much are friends with a dear kinship. So
- 41:53intuition. An example of that would be let's say you're, you know,
- 41:57driving down the freeway and your gut is telling you to get off this exit
- 42:02because this exit's going to have a gas station and you need gas, and
- 42:07so then you get off on that section and you were right, okay,
- 42:09there's that gas station. Whereas psychic senses, for example, let's let's use
- 42:15the example of psychometry where someone I guess is on an investigation or just maybe
- 42:20on a historical tour, and they pick up an item, maybe it's a
- 42:23historic rock or some sort of historic piece, and they're feeling it in their
- 42:29hands and they're starting to get senses from maybe a long time ago, maybe
- 42:35it's emotions associated with it, or maybe they start to see visions in their
- 42:38mind's eye of someone who was associated with this historical object through psychometry, And
- 42:45so that's that's an example of using our psychic senses. So that's that's kind
- 42:49of how the difference on. They're similar but yet different, but yet they
- 42:53call exist and they go hand in hand. Her book is entitled The Afterlife

- 44:46Unlimited. My guest this week Nicole Strickland, her book The Afterlife chronicles exploring
- 44:52the connection between life, death, and the beyond. Nicole. For parents
- 45:00with children demonstrating intuition the way we did as children, what advice would you
- 45:05offer them? Oh, this is an excellent question. I do have a
- 45:08background with kids. I was a teacher and then have a master's in school
- 45:14counseling, so I'm have a background with kids and that helps me with this.
- 45:17But you know, and I'm going to say that we're all intuit or
- 45:22right, and I do believe that children are more intuitive. It's similar to
- 45:25animals. And I think the reason we're one of the main reasons is that
- 45:29their ego isn't as prevalent and they don't live through their ego as much as
- 45:36as adults do. And so, you know, my advice to parents is
- 45:40to pay attention to what their kids are telling them, pay attention to any
- 45:47patterns you see. And if you see that your child is starting to show
- 45:55signs of being intuitive or psychic, there's you have to nurture it. So
- 46:02uh, you know, don't don't try to chastise your kid for that or
- 46:07your child, help them show them that you believe in them and that you're
- 46:13going to help them foster that growth because it's it's only going to improve their
- 46:17lives, right, So there's even two depending on how old the child is.
- 46:23There there are like I guess, not not support groups, that's not
- 46:28the right one, but groups that they can join with other like minded individuals
- 46:35and they can learn from them as well. So those are those are signs,
- 46:39you know. I do a whole presentation it's called Children and the Paranormal
- 46:43where I get into how a child at different ages and different um you know,
- 46:51the ericson stage of development and the pha's stages in those stages, how
- 46:57children can react to and perceive the par normal similarly and differently at each stage
- 47:02of their life. And then I get into like, you know, the
- 47:06crystal and rainbow kids and science of that and all of that. So it's
- 47:09a fascinating presentation, but I would my main advice is to pay attention to
- 47:15your kids and listen to them and then help them to foster that growth in
- 47:22a positive environment. What do NDEs near death experiencers offer in terms of the
- 47:30afterlife? Oh my goodness, I will say this that people with nd ease
- 47:36near death experiences are even shared death experiences. They give us glimpses into what
- 47:45exists for us when we pass on. There is story after story culture at
- 47:52different cultures, different backgrounds, kids, adults, elderly individuals that have these
- 47:58stories and stories are all similar with very similar traits as well. Where they,
- 48:04you know, pass on, they evolved to a beautiful place, a
- 48:08paradise where it almost it I guess it molds itself to how their their culture
- 48:15is and what they're liking is just vibrant colors. There's this connection of just
- 48:22eternal love. And then when they return back to their body, you know,
- 48:27they have this sense of renewed growth, no longer interested in materialism and
- 48:32all of that. It's this just pure they're purely in touch with their soul
- 48:37at that moment. And so uh, it really does show us we need
- 48:44to listen to these stories because there's so many of them, and it lets
- 48:46us know, wow, there's something out there. You know, when we
- 48:51pass on and we physically die, we're not going to go to nothingness.
- 48:54It's not going to just be a you know, blank, you know void.
- 48:58You know, we're going somewhere the next stage in our soul's progression and
- 49:02maturity, and it's something to look forward to and so that's that's the message
- 49:07I take from them. Absolutely. You have a chapter in the Afterlife Chronicles
- 49:13on spirit guides. How may we be aware of their communication? This is
- 49:19an interesting concept, and James Van Prague is pretty much I consider him an
- 49:24expert in the whole spirit guide realm. And we all have them, and
- 49:30I think it's similar to that inner voice that we have, whether that is
- 49:34just our inner voice or one of our guides, it could be a combination
- 49:38of both. We all have them. And there are different types of guides,
- 49:44you know, there's you know, more educative types of guides, and
- 49:46there's you know, ascended masters and things in individuals or guides of that nature.
- 49:53But it's we all have them, like I said, and it's for
- 49:59me, it's learning how to know when they're they're coming to us and when
- 50:02they're trying to guide us in a certain way. And I think it's similar
- 50:07when we have an intuitive moment that can be perceived as guiding us to where
- 50:13we need to be, guiding us to safety. So it's very similar to
- 50:15that. In the stories. There's a few stories in the book too about
- 50:20spirit guides, and one I believe it's Pete Orbea. He's a friend of
- 50:24mine from the Pacific Northwest. And then Ariel Grace too as well, And
- 50:29they're profound and give us kind of a look at what spirit guide communication may
- 50:36look like. So you had mentioned the experience with your cats, I had
- 50:39mentioned mine are animals also spirit guides? Absolutely? Absolutely, I believe they
- 50:45are. And I mean you hear that. The whole thought of oh,
- 50:49you have a guardian angel. You know, my grandmother passed away. Now
- 50:52she's my guardian angel. That you know, they can turn into spirit guides
- 50:57and be that, and even animals. I do believe in soul groups.
- 51:01I believe that animals and humans can share the same soul group. I absolutely
- 51:05believe that with my cats, Max and Kaylee, just because of the bond
- 51:08that we've shared. And I love all my animals, don't get me wrong,
- 51:13but there's some something greater and deeper with the bond that I have with
- 51:16Kayley and Max than any of my other animals, and it's like, I
- 51:21think we're part of the same soul group. So absolutely, you know,
- 51:25it's interesting about animals. I've found that I communicate with certain animals. I've
- 51:30had cats in my life of course, a dog. But squirrels seem to
- 51:35like me. They come up to me and they put their hands in a
- 51:39little begging motion. I have one that I named the Oliver because it looks
- 51:43like he's saying, can I have someone nuts? Please? Oh my god,
- 51:45that is so precious. Oh I love it. Yeah. Absolutely.
- 51:50In addition to cats, do you have any special animals? Special animals and
- 51:53it well, I mean a lot of mine that are no longer with me.
- 51:57You know, I've had dogs. My dog Lady, when I grew
- 52:00up with. She died when I was in high school, sadly. But
- 52:04let's see besides cats now, because I have a twenty two year old cat
- 52:07named Aries and she's just plugging along. She's I love her. Yeah,
- 52:10I adopted her when I was in college, so twenty two years old.
- 52:15Let's see. Outside would have a family of lizards. There's something about lizards.
- 52:19And this goes back to my childhood living in Vegas. I would go
- 52:22into the deserts, you know, back in the day when it was safe
- 52:24for kids to go wander in the desert, and I would go I'll use
- 52:29the word hunt. I didn't hunt them, but I would go seek out
- 52:31lizards and I sometimes I would catch them and it was just I love.
- 52:36It was a pastime of mine. And now here I am in my adult
- 52:38years and we have a family of them living in our front and backyard,
- 52:43and it's so cute to see them. So and we name ours too.
- 52:45One is I named one bubb I think another one I named I think Buddy
- 52:50Holly. I don't want you know that's funny, it's great. So what
- 52:53would you like readers to take away from the Afterlife Chronicles? Good question.
- 52:59So if I hadn't I've been asked as before, if you had to summarize
- 53:01the book in one or two sentences, it would be this that even though
- 53:07our loved ones that are departed are no longer physically with us, they are
- 53:12still with us. Their essence, their soul, their energy is always with
- 53:16us. There's always that connection. It's undying, endless love. And so
- 53:22that's basically the point that I want to take away, that I want people
- 53:27to take away. The other one is that there's this undying connection between mortality
- 53:34in the afterlife. The two worlds I think are destined to colon, to
- 53:38intertwine with each other, and there's something something happening. I think in the
- 53:43cosmos that's allowing the two worlds to join together even more and learn from each
- 53:49other and help each other. And so those I would say, those are
- 53:52the two Biggie's big takeaway points that I want people to get from the book.
- 53:58Her book is an amazing read. It's called The Afterlife Chronicles, exploring
- 54:01the connection between life, death and beyond. Nicole Strickland, one more time,
