- 0:00You're going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:01Why not put it in one of the top three offensive players in the
- 0:05league? We're going to be looking at
- 0:14Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 0:17Jordan said. I played 82 games.
- 0:20You don't see LeBron doing that a game.
- 0:22Where you got to go? For the four, I told you, giant
- 0:25feet. Saquon Barkley, at this moment,
- 0:28say Let's do it.
- 1:26You're listening to Jabba and the Mouth.
- 1:29Mouth. 631-672-3108 is the number to call.
- 1:38You're listening to the one and only Jabba and the Mouth.

- 2:13for all our shows is go to our website at
- 2:15www.worldwidesportsradio.com. And Friday and Saturday it was
- 2:23raining. It was disgusting.
- 2:25It was 80°, probably the most humid day of September.
- 2:30There won't be any more humid days.
- 2:32I don't think we're going to hit 80 anymore here in Long Island,
- 2:35New York or New York. It will be seventies, 60s, and
- 2:39maybe even 50s before you know it.
- 2:42I'm loving the weather. This is my favorite time of the
- 2:44year. And then when it gets a little
- 2:46bit colder, I definitely love the cold.
- 2:48I like wearing the jackets. I know Fish loves wearing the
- 2:51beanies. I don't understand Fish.
- 2:53I don't understand this guy. This guy wears A beanie every
- 2:57single show throughout the summer, and tonight he's not
- 3:00wearing a beanie. He's got nothing on his head.
- 3:02I think he's getting ready for the football season.
- 3:05I think that's what it is. That is what Fish is doing.
- 3:08Look at that. He actually has hair, ladies and
- 3:10gentlemen. He is not bald like Joba.
- 3:13As we always say. Fish, you look completely
- 3:16different. I've never seen this before.
- 3:18Usually you're wearing a beanie. You don't even wear a backwards
- 3:20hat. Jabba's the the one that wears
- 3:22the beanies in the backwards hat when the summer comes around.
- 3:25I mean, when the winter comes around, he's wearing a beanie or
- 3:27he's wearing his onesie. That's what he always likes to
- 3:30wear. But what's going on tonight?
- 3:31Is there something in particular going on tonight?
- 3:34Is there some special thing that you're doing with your wife and
- 3:37you're trying to impress your wife tonight?
- 3:40Yeah, that's what it was. I was trying to impress my wife
- 3:43tonight because I love her oh so much.
- 3:45She is the best wife. She's definitely watching the
- 3:47show, ladies and gentlemen. Sacrifices for us to have.
- 3:51We have, you know, the great things we have here.
- 3:53Yeah, absolutely. It's all for her, man.
- 3:55I figured it's definitely the wife.
- 3:57I mean, Jabba's looking good. I he looks lights.
- 4:00He looks sexy for his future wife.
- 4:03I mean, Catherine's probably loving this sexy look by Jabba.
- 4:07Jabba, how's your wife and and what is she?
- 4:09Well, her your fiance. And what does she think about
- 4:12your new look? Yeah, easy.
- 4:15Don't put the cart before the horse over here, guy.
- 4:19No, it's just. I'm just trying to enjoy the
- 4:23weather over here. What?
- 4:24Do we? Is that what it is 70°?
- 4:26You know, that's, that's, I mean, that's that's really what
- 4:28you know, it comes to, you know, it's just being the best version
- 4:32of yourself you can be, right. And it's, you know, it takes, it
- 4:34takes some, some help along the way, that's for sure.
- 4:38You look good man, you really do.
- 4:40I've I've not seen you this light since you're you're
- 4:44playing days you've been. I'm light, I'm lighter than when
- 4:48I played. Really.
- 4:49That's that's crazy. I mean, and it all started for
- 4:52for all the fans out there that haven't listened to the show,
- 4:55are first tuning into the show. Jabba did this accidentally.
- 4:59He just started to lose weight. And he said, you know what?
- 5:01I'm going to lose 30 lbs. I'm going to lose a couple of
- 5:03pounds. And.
- 5:04And now he's, what, 35 lbs in? 36 lbs in.
- 5:07Yeah. Probably, yeah. close.
- 5:09I didn't. Yeah.
- 5:10It's. It's just weird.
- 5:11You don't. I don't.
- 5:12It didn't plan on it. And now it's like, and I've
- 5:15always loved to like cook. It's just, you know, when you,
- 5:19you cook, you know, on the road, like you eat out all the time.
- 5:23And then like now it's like cooking for one when my son was
- 5:26gone. And now it's like then he's like
- 5:30feeding for like 6 now. So, you know, it's, it's a
- 5:34little bit easier. But yeah, it's, it's crazy.
- 5:37It's, it's just, it's nice not to ache.
- 5:39I mean, obviously I'm going to ache.
- 5:40I'm nine surgeries in. I, I got to have my back fused
- 5:43at some point. Really.
- 5:44I'm a whole, Yeah, I did. I've herniated L3L4L4 and L5
- 5:48when I was a freshman in college and haven't had it fixed since.
- 5:52They said I was too young. So I'm, I'm going to hold on to
- 5:55that. Too young here turning 40.
- 5:57So I'm going to hold on. To that, they didn't tell me
- 5:59that too young stuff Jabba they get.
- 6:01They operated on my L4L5S1S2 when I was 22 years old and they
- 6:06were just all about it and I the recovery was really bad.
- 6:11I never had a disc. I never had fusions.
- 6:14I always, I was, I was always told don't get fusions, go get a
- 6:17disc replacement. And that's why I have a disc
- 6:19replacement on my C5. It was the best thing I ever
- 6:22did. Everybody I've had, I've talked
- 6:24to athletes, I've spoken to many different people, even musicians
- 6:28that have had a surgeries with fusions.
- 6:30They all told me don't go fusion.
- 6:32And then I said what do I go with?
- 6:34He said, you know, get some shots, stay away from the pills
- 6:38and that would be the best route to go.
- 6:40But I went with the disc replacement, which started up
- 6:42probably about 5-6 years ago. A German guy brought the new
- 6:47discs here in America and I, I tried it three years ago.
- 6:51It was the best thing I ever did, a disc replacement.
- 6:53In my head, they say that the longer, like it was like with my
- 6:56dad too, we always went through it.
- 6:57Like even my dad was young for all the crap that, you know, he
- 7:00was going through. But they were like, wait to get
- 7:02his hip replaced because the, you know, hips now, like as time
- 7:05progresses because technology gets better and they last
- 7:07longer. Like initially hips were only
- 7:09lasting like five to seven years.
- 7:11Now hopefully they last longer. But yeah, they're like, you're
- 7:14not that old. I mean, there would be times
- 7:16that it would bother me like once a year, and that's really
- 7:19like about it. But it would suck for like two
- 7:22or three days, right? I'd literally just lay on the
- 7:24ground, like with my knees up at like a 90° angle.
- 7:28And it would literally be like be on the kitchen floor pillow
- 7:33and literally, and I would lay there.
- 7:35I have a couple cocktails just to relax because it's not the
- 7:38most comfortable. And then I would take like
- 7:41Flexeril, which is like a back one that they could give you and
- 7:45I'd sleep on the floor. In two days, I'll be back up.
- 7:48Those were some of the best days that I pitched, though, because
- 7:51my feet would be tingling and I would want to just get out of it
- 7:54as fast as I could. So I didn't try and do too much.
- 7:56It's like you're running and your feet are tingling.
- 7:58I was like, just Get Me Out of this.
- 8:00And some of those, some of those outings were the best ones ever
- 8:02because I didn't think too much because I was like, just get it.
- 8:04Just just go ahead and go. And that's just some of the
- 8:07stuff people don't think about and, and hear about.
- 8:09But yeah, we're we're out there grinding.
- 8:11Yeah, I I agree with you. And I think also with when I was
- 8:15going through it, I was getting tingly feelings down my arm.
- 8:18I wasn't feeling out of my pinky and I was, I'm sick of it.
- 8:21I went to Doctor Faust. I want to give a shout out to
- 8:24Doctor Faust. I got a chance to sit down with
- 8:26him and I spoke to him. I had an MRI done and he said
- 8:29listen, if you don't get a if you don't get surgery, but.
- 8:31You had it in your. Neck your.
- 8:33Arms. I don't.
- 8:34Yeah, I did. Oh, your neck.
- 8:36It was my. Legs, yeah.
- 8:37When went down my arm, yeah. I might need to have the neck
- 8:40fuse. I didn't get the lower back
- 8:41fuse. I had the microdiscectomy
- 8:43because I had a sciatica down to my ankle bone when I was like 21
- 8:47and it was just a nightmare. And I they gave you like the
- 8:50injections and they those like make it get better, but
- 8:53sometimes they don't take the second injection didn't take
- 8:55made it worse and it was just really terrible.
- 8:58I couldn't really walk healed its toe like for years.
- 9:02It was really bad. You don't realize because you
- 9:03just manage your tough it out. Yeah, it's like anything, you
- 9:06know what I mean? And then you then you compensate
- 9:08and you don't. Yeah, you compensate and you're
- 9:10like, oh, yeah, no, I haven't. I remember the same thing.
- 9:13Like they're like, you're not. Are you walking hill to I go,
- 9:15Yeah. And then they would put me in
- 9:17the water where you could see it with the camera and it literally
- 9:20was just like your flat foot, Like you weren't doing anything.
- 9:22I was like, it feels like I'm going heel to toe, but obviously
- 9:25I wasn't. No, it was bad.
- 9:27Like it sciatica, like there's like 3 stages it gets stuck like
- 9:30in your glute, then it gets behind your knee and like down
- 9:34the hamstring and then it can get into your ankle bone.
- 9:36The ankle bone one is brutal because there's like a million
- 9:39nerves in there. That was the one like I just had
- 9:41to like walk around like pretending I was drunk like
- 9:43dragging a leg or something because I couldn't walk.
- 9:46It was. That was it, like dead foot
- 9:47because all the nerves and stuff.
- 9:49It was like it would just constantly tingle.
- 9:51JPP had the exact same surgery speedy when he came back but
- 9:56that by the time he got it. They used lasers when I was
- 10:00having that surgery. They cut my back like against
- 10:02the grain, like a brisket. And let's just say my sports
- 10:05career was over after that. Well, I, and again, when I was
- 10:08dealing with it, I, I wasn't even worried about my, my sports
- 10:11career. I was done with, with whatever,
- 10:13whatever I was doing. And this was a couple of years
- 10:16ago. And then I went from my neck to
- 10:18my hip. I had hip surgery.
- 10:20Doctor Gemano, worst thing I ever did.
- 10:22I don't want to get into it. Alex, one of Alex Rodriguez's
- 10:25doctors for his hip was looking at my hip.
- 10:28I, it was the worst thing I ever did.
- 10:29I I wouldn't didn't advise anybody to get their bone shaved
- 10:32and get hooks put in to their hip.
- 10:34It was the worst thing I ever did, my neck, best thing I ever
- 10:37did. Any fan out there that has a
- 10:39problem with their neck and is looking for a doctor, come to
- 10:41me. I will definitely send you to
- 10:43one of the best doctors in New York State.
- 10:45He works on the board. He is sensational.
- 10:47Definitely if you have any problems, fusions or disc
- 10:52replacement or any of that magnitude that you want done to
- 10:55your back or your neck, come to me.
- 10:57I will send you to Doctor Fast, Orland and Cohen on the board.
- 11:00Sensational as always. Speaking of on the board, well,
- 11:04I got to get to the board, Speedy.
- 11:05Keep your head up because you're a complete idiot.
- 11:08We will be talking a little bit later on the show to WFAN Acre
- 11:12Sports Bash Media host and Greater Long Island writer Peter
- 11:16Schwartz will be joining us. Sensational.
- 11:19And Peter's never been on the show.
- 11:21Very excited to get Peter on the show.
- 11:23It's something I know Jabba was working, I think.
- 11:25Jabba, were you on his show recently?
- 11:28I'm going tomorrow. There you go.
- 11:29So Jabba will be on Peter Schwartz's show.
- 11:33So he'll be coming. He'll be coming on our show.
- 11:35We'll get into some Jets and Giants and Yankees and Mets.
- 11:39He's a New York guy. So I'm I'm very excited to get
- 11:41him on the show a little bit later.
- 11:44Speaking of getting into it, in the Bills game was absolutely
- 11:47putrid. Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills
- 11:51were able to stun Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens 41 to
- 11:5540 coming back from down 15 points with four minutes to go
- 12:00on Sunday Night Football. Allen who led the miraculous
- 12:04comeback when 33 for 46 with 394 passing yards, 30 rushing yards
- 12:10and two touchdowns both in the air and on the ground in the
- 12:16losing effort. Lamar Jackson was excellent and
- 12:19going 14 for 19209 yards, 2 touchdowns passing with six
- 12:24rushing rushes for 70 yards and another touchdown on the ground.
- 12:29He also gave a strong two handed shove to a member of the Bills
- 12:34Mafia who slapped him and another Raven in the head after
- 12:39a touchdown. The fan has been suspended from
- 12:43the NFL stadiums indefinitely. Derek Henry, who was dominant
- 12:48all game with 18 carries, 169 yards and two touchdowns, fumble
- 12:52the ball late, allowing Josh Allen that all he needed to
- 12:58break in and break the hearts of Raven fans.
- 13:02Buffalo has now won five of their last six matchups versus
- 13:06Baltimore, including playoff wins in 2020 and 2024.
- 13:13The Ravens became the first team in NFL history to score 40
- 13:16points, rush for 200 yards and lose the game.
- 13:20John Harbaugh now has 8 losses when leading by 8 or more points
- 13:25in the fourth quarter, the most for any coach since 2000.
- 13:29You know, I, I watched this game and it was an impressive game by
- 13:32the Buffalo Bills and you can get into the Bills Mafia and the
- 13:36fact that you Lamar Jackson and and this team retaliated for a
- 13:40from a fan. We've seen this before.
- 13:42We talk, we spoke about this with the New York Yankees in the
- 13:45World Series. What happened to Mookie Betts?
- 13:47Remember that story? And we went back in and they,
- 13:50the, the fans were obviously suspended indefinitely from
- 13:54Yankee Stadium. But the thought here is the
- 13:58Buffalo Bills should not, I repeat, should not have been in
- 14:02this game. Baltimore was dominating
- 14:05defensively all game from the 1st to the 2nd to the third
- 14:08quarter. They were sensational and
- 14:10watching Derrick Henry was like, it was like a work of art.
- 14:14I've never seen a running back dominated the dominate the line
- 14:17of scrimmage as well as he did in a game against a very good
- 14:21defense, a very good front 7. But people forget who really
- 14:27stood out with the Buffalo Bills in their defense.
- 14:29Oliver was unbelievable sensational defensively.
- 14:32We speak about I speaking to many different people all day
- 14:36long talking about what TJ Watt did in the Jet game and we will
- 14:39get into that. And even Quinton Williams, what
- 14:41he did in the Jet game, dominating at the line of
- 14:44scrimmage against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 14:47What stood out to me in this game was Buffalo getting the
- 14:51defense they needed in the important times with guys like
- 14:54Oliver. Oliver was sensational and and
- 14:56Joey Bosa. I don't think Joey Bosa has been
- 14:59a part of anything like this because he was a part of the
- 15:01Chargers organization practically his whole career.
- 15:04He's never been in a playoff. He's never been in these kind of
- 15:08games where you can say I got a chance to make the playoffs.
- 15:11I got a chance. And and remember at the tail end
- 15:13of his career with the Chargers, he played with Justin Herbert.
- 15:16He did make the playoffs but they had no they had no business
- 15:19making the playoffs those years because their defense could not
- 15:22hold up as we saw in the in the playoffs year in and year out.
- 15:25Justin Herbert sensational fighting injury.
- 15:28Josh Allen is a different beast. Josh Allen proved to everybody
- 15:33why he won the MVP last year. A lot of people questioning what
- 15:37the NFL did in the NFL going with Josh Allen over Lamar
- 15:41Jackson. When you look at Lamar Jackson's
- 15:42numbers, the guy only threw 4 interceptions last year, 4 and
- 15:47over 40 touchdowns, over 4000 yards, 700 yards run.
- 15:52When you look at these kind of numbers, that is NVP esque Josh
- 15:57Allen. I'm not saying Josh Allen didn't
- 15:58have a great year last year, was an NVP caliber over Lamar
- 16:02Jackson or even Joe Burrow. The answer would be no, but the
- 16:07NFL doesn't really like to give back-to-back NVPS to players
- 16:11anymore. The last person to do that of
- 16:14that magnitude the way we've seen over the years was Peyton
- 16:16Manning. Peyton Manning won I think if
- 16:19I'm not mistaken, 4, 4 MVPS in a row.
- 16:22Brett Farve I think won four or five as well.
- 16:25I mean, quarterbacks usually win this award.
- 16:28When you look at Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson, these are two
- 16:31defiant top end quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 16:36And going into this game, game one of the NFL season going to
- 16:39Buffalo, you would have thought watching Lamar Jackson just
- 16:44dominate all game long that they were running away with the game.
- 16:48Buffalo fans were leaving in the fourth quarter.
- 16:53They don't want to be there anymore.
- 16:54They knew the game was over and Derrick Henry and and again Josh
- 17:01Allen kept them in the game. I got to say something about
- 17:04Cole Coleman. He played very well.
- 17:09Buffalo does not have enough depth offensively.
- 17:14When you look at the team that they have and what they put
- 17:17together this year, Shakur is, is really their number one guy.
- 17:22He's really their number one guy and he's a slot guy.
- 17:26Derrick Henry showed you why. He's one of the elite, one of
- 17:29the greatest running backs of this era.
- 17:31If you look at his numbers, there's only I.
- 17:35I thought I saw a number that popped up and I don't remember
- 17:37what it was in the fourth quarter.
- 17:39Derrick Henry is one of only four running backs, 4 running
- 17:44backs that has has put up these kind of numbers.
- 17:48I if I'm not mistaken, 2 touchdowns and over 100 yards in
- 17:53prime time games. The fact is, is this the end of
- 18:00the Baltimore Ravens? No, I think Baltimore is going
- 18:03to be elite this year. I expect Baltimore to win 1112
- 18:06games. Derrick Henry is going to play a
- 18:11big part. Derrick Henry is going to have
- 18:12to stay healthy, which he's he's been fighting for years.
- 18:15Last year was the first season in a long time that I could say
- 18:19Derrick Henry played the majority of the games.
- 18:22Lamar Jackson is an excellent quarterback, but when they're
- 18:26going got tough, who needed to stand on their head, who needed
- 18:31to make the plays? And that was Josh Allen.
- 18:34And Josh Allen wanted to prove himself to the NFL, to the fans
- 18:38that he was the MVP of the NFL last year.
- 18:44He deserves the respect. And remember, when you look at
- 18:47Josh Allen, when he came into the league, he had problems
- 18:50throwing certain passes. Not anymore.
- 18:53Josh Allen is elite from the elite.
- 18:56We talk about Jim Kelly from what Jim Kelly did all those
- 18:59years with the great Buffalo Bills. 4 consecutive, 4, yes, 4
- 19:04consecutive Super Bowl appearances.
- 19:07Failed to win any of them and nobody and I including yours
- 19:12truly thought that the Buffalo Bills would ever get a
- 19:14quarterback this good again and Josh Allen when he was drafted,
- 19:20there was a lot of questions with him.
- 19:22He was drafted in a very good class of quarterbacks.
- 19:27A lot of questions if he can compete coming from Wyoming and
- 19:32and playing for a school of that magnitude and not really having
- 19:36the the great statistics that a quarterback or you expect an
- 19:41elite quarterback to have coming out of college.
- 19:44He changed everybody's mind. A lot of people would believe,
- 19:47give Brian Table a little bit more credit than he deserves
- 19:50about his development. But this team, this Buffalo
- 19:54Bills team, if they have a chance to win a Super Bowl, it's
- 19:58this year. There is no argument to that.
- 20:01This Buffalo Bills team showed everybody on national
- 20:04television. That they can beat anybody going
- 20:08down at any score, 2015 points and come back against an elite
- 20:14defense, come back against an elite offense and dominate in
- 20:17the important parts of a game. You look at the defensive side
- 20:22of the ball, both teams played well.
- 20:24When you look at the score 41 to 40, he'd be like this.
- 20:27This wasn't a good, good defensive game.
- 20:29Wrong again. Both teams played very well
- 20:32defensively. It's the problem with Buffalo.
- 20:34Buffalo, they couldn't stop the run and they couldn't stop Zay
- 20:37Flowers. And I got to give a shout out to
- 20:39Zay Flowers. Zay Flowers over the years
- 20:42couldn't stay healthy. A lot of people thought he was
- 20:44too short and too light, especially on his feet.
- 20:48Well, in the off season, he put on 15 lbs.
- 20:51You can see the difference of his game.
- 20:53Not only speed, strong in the upper body now, can run routes
- 20:57just as good as anybody in the league.
- 20:59And now I believe the Baltimore Ravens have a deep threat, a guy
- 21:04that can dominate. You could put him anywhere on
- 21:07the field. You can put him in a slot.
- 21:08You can put him on the outside. You can put him on both sides.
- 21:11Zay Flowers showed you why he's as good as what they believed he
- 21:17was going to be when they drafted him.
- 21:19And how about Hopkins making that one hand grab in the fourth
- 21:24quarter? Oh, actually it was the end of
- 21:25the third quarter when he made that grab.
- 21:29Now I the question is, are they going to have enough?
- 21:32Bateman can't stay healthy, so you can't trust that Bateman's
- 21:35going to be healthy all season long.
- 21:37So they had to go after a guy, a number two guy that has
- 21:40experience and that can go out there and it's chasing the
- 21:43championship, which he's never won.
- 21:47But now you look at Baltimore, is Baltimore going to roll up
- 21:52and think that this is the end of the season?
- 21:54They can't compete with teams like Buffalo?
- 21:56No, not at all. Buffalo won a game that was
- 21:58very, very close, was fun to watch.
- 22:01We were speaking about and again, I'll get into the Jet
- 22:03game a little bit later. The Jets had the, to me the most
- 22:07competitive game of the whole week and and there were a lot of
- 22:10good games, but that was the most competitive and fun game to
- 22:13watch. Wrong again.
- 22:15If you don't watch Sunday Night Football and you guys missed one
- 22:17of the all time great games. That game showed you why This
- 22:22could be the AFC title game, the Baltimore Ravens versus the
- 22:26Buffalo Bills. This could very much be the AFC
- 22:29title game with the talent that both teams have, the coaches
- 22:32that both teams have. And by the way, John Harbaugh,
- 22:35now, I don't know if he's on a hot seat, but if this team
- 22:39doesn't get over the hop and this team can't or won't make it
- 22:44to a Super Bowl with Lamar Jackson as their quarterback,
- 22:48this might be the end of John Harbaugh.
- 22:50I believe this is the end of Mr. McDermott.
- 22:53If McDermott doesn't get this team to the Super Bowl, he's
- 22:56done. This team is too talented
- 22:59defensively over the years. You added Joey Bosa in the
- 23:01offseason. You took away and you got rid of
- 23:04Von Miller. You decided to go younger on
- 23:07certain aspects of your team and your offensive side of the ball.
- 23:10Well, if you're going to do that, you're expected to win.
- 23:14And now Josh Allen married, happy looking like a guy that a
- 23:19wrecking machine, a machine that might not be able to be stopped
- 23:22this year when you put up 400 yards on national television and
- 23:26dominate the fourth quarter as well as he did.
- 23:29Bravo to, I believe, the best quarterback of Week 1 and the
- 23:34MVP of the NFL last year. Yeah, Josh Allen did a great job
- 23:38when it came to spreading out other targets as well.
- 23:40You mentioned there's no obvious #1 receiver Shakira was the most
- 23:43productive one last year. He's a traditional slot guy, not
- 23:46really a huge deep threat. And Keon Coleman, a specialist,
- 23:49a big bodied specialist that's contested catches his route tree
- 23:52is very limited. You talked about Kincaid last
- 23:54week. He had a down year after a
- 23:55pretty good first half of his second-half of his rookie year.
- 23:59And he can't be trusted as a blocker, as a tight end.
- 24:02So you're going through all these different formations that
- 24:04you have to just improvise really on your own.
- 24:07Dawson Knox got a big contract. He didn't get a lot of reps in
- 24:10this game. But what made it interesting was
- 24:12the way that Josh Allen knew where to go and use those
- 24:16receivers to the best of their routes.
- 24:17And the Ravens, I think we're the opposite.
- 24:19The Ravens had a more talent driven defense that yes, they're
- 24:23very talented defense. They deserve to have that kind
- 24:25of recognition. But if they didn't adjust to the
- 24:28Bills, the Bills took advantage of everything.
- 24:30And that's where I think John Harbaugh definitely deserves
- 24:33some criticism. Like you were bringing up fish,
- 24:35like fish was bringing up the stat of eight games with blown
- 24:39leads. And Tommy, I was talking this to
- 24:40you in the car last week about this Ravens core.
- 24:43I think since that 2017 draft has not had a big good sense of
- 24:46adversity. And they've blown a lot of
- 24:49leads. They've collapsed late in the
- 24:50season. Fourth quarter has been a big
- 24:52problem for them. And even in this game where
- 24:53Derek Henry's having the game of his life, who fumbles?
- 24:56Zane Flowers had a great game of his life.
- 24:59I, I, I thought there was a lot of players that had a game of
- 25:02their life and, and to me it was just the dominance of Josh Allen
- 25:06when they needed to play, when Josh Allen needed to make a play
- 25:08in the fourth quarter, he made the plays.
- 25:10Lamar Jackson, especially in the fourth quarter with what, 5
- 25:14minutes left, he made a couple of mistakes.
- 25:15He started to run the ball. He was trying to control the
- 25:18line of scrimmage by running the ball.
- 25:20That doesn't work. Ask the New York Jets, ask a lot
- 25:23of the teams trying to sneak into the playoffs at the end of
- 25:25the season in what they try to do when they get the lead and
- 25:28they have 5 minutes left and they're up by 8:00.
- 25:30What are they doing? They're running the ball and
- 25:32trying to control the, the, the clock.
- 25:34That doesn't always work. And again, you saw it on
- 25:38national television on Sunday Night Football.
- 25:40What the Baltimore Ravens did is they felt like being up 30 at
- 25:44four at 1.40, if if I'm not mistaken, was 40 to 35.
- 25:49If I No, I'm sorry, no, 4040 to 25, yes.
- 25:53And then it was 40 to 32 when Derrick Henry drop the drop the
- 25:57ball and and again, it was just back and forth.
- 26:00It was back and forth type of offense and and both teams at
- 26:04the end of the game, they made mistakes defensively.
- 26:06Hamilton played sensational. This is one of the best safeties
- 26:10in all the football. His length and his ability and
- 26:13what he does on the defensive side of the ball.
- 26:15I don't know if there's any player as good as he is at the
- 26:19strong safety or even free safety position.
- 26:21He can play multiple position. I've seen a play linebacker too,
- 26:24because of his length. And and again, the Baltimore
- 26:27Ravens, their secondary, which I believe has been elite over the
- 26:31years, many, many years in a row.
- 26:34I haven't made mistakes against the Buffalo Bills team that
- 26:37Coleman is a good player. Is he a sensational player?
- 26:40No, he's not a number one in my eyes.
- 26:42He's a, he's a good #2 no. And Shakira, he he's a good
- 26:47player. He's a number 2.
- 26:48They don't have #1 guys. They made a move bringing in a
- 26:52try to bring in a number one guy last year who just retired and
- 26:55it didn't work. So it and, and again, the
- 26:59Buffalo Bills have been searching for that number one
- 27:01guy. Now Coleman could be a number
- 27:02one guy in the future. We'll have to see.
- 27:04I I, I'm, I'm rooting for him. He's a Florida State guy.
- 27:07He's a Seminole guy. So I'm always, I'm always
- 27:10pushing my Seminole guys to succeed in the NFL.
- 27:13But again, I just don't know if he's a number one guy.
- 27:15And does Buffalo do, do they make a trade after trade
- 27:18deadline to add another prolific offensive player?
- 27:21I know, I know Kansas City is going to have to do that because
- 27:24Kansas City lost two wide receivers in one game this past
- 27:29week. And and again, we don't know how
- 27:32good there what Rice is going to be when it comes back in Week 8.
- 27:36So there are going to be teams looking for #1 or even #2 guys
- 27:39or I, I guess, I don't even know a few, I guess 1B guys that are
- 27:45going to be maybe possibly available at the trade deadline.
- 27:48But Baltimore has that. Baltimore has everything.
- 27:51And that's the thing. Baltimore, they might have lost
- 27:54this game and they lost the battle, but they didn't lose the
- 27:56war. They're going to meet again.
- 27:58And I, I believe they're going to meet in the playoffs because
- 28:00I think these two teams are the best teams in the AFC.
- 28:04And if they do, are they going to make the same mistake against
- 28:07Josh Allen? And they might have to go
- 28:08through Buffalo in the cold this time, but we all know Baltimore
- 28:12is a very hard place to play. It's very cold in Baltimore as
- 28:15well, and very wet in that time of year.
- 28:18So it'll be fun to watch. It's not over yet.
- 28:20I think that these teams will meet again one way or another.
- 28:23John Harbaugh, it's an interesting dynamic too.
- 28:25You saw at the end of the 2021 and 2022 seasons, you see him
- 28:28kind of get reckless at points where he was trying to be the
- 28:31new wave going for it on 4th down.
- 28:32Like you saw it obviously Dan Campbell and to an extent one of
- 28:35the worst coaches recently and Brandon Staley do, and it was
- 28:37just getting reckless even anyway.
- 28:38Justin Tucker but the best kicker in football at the time
- 28:41and they were going for two to win the games and then Ravens
- 28:43fell apart those seasons. One year they missed the
- 28:45playoffs the other year that they barely squeaked in and then
- 28:47they almost beat the Bengals with a back of quarterback were
- 28:49oddly enough. But this this case, I don't see
- 28:52like that. I think they got too
- 28:53conservative. And our friend Ariel Epstein,
- 28:56who's a big Ravens fan on Twitter, she was saying that,
- 28:58that they always do the same pattern.
- 29:01They always get too conservative.
- 29:02Like you were saying, Errol, at the end of the game, they're
- 29:03running the ball too much and it gets predictable.
- 29:05And on defense, they get soft. Marlon Humphrey gets very soft.
- 29:08How about Buffalo making a move one week before the season they
- 29:11had Prater on one of the greatest kickers of all time.
- 29:14Old man Prater kicked 3 field goals and the 60 yard field goal
- 29:18to win the game. Guys, that's even more
- 29:20incredible. A guy that wasn't expected to
- 29:22play this year. He was coaching high school
- 29:24football and then he gets a call one week before the season
- 29:28saying we need you come to Buffalo.
- 29:31And it's in a remarkable story. Now, Prater, I don't know if
- 29:34Prater has ever won a Super Bowl.
- 29:35I don't even think he's been a part of a Super Bowl champion.
- 29:38So if there's anybody, there are a couple of players that have
- 29:40come to this team this year that are looking to win a Super Bowl.
- 29:44Joey Bosa one of them. And Joey Bosa, he was up and
- 29:47down all game long. He made a couple of big plays
- 29:49against Lamar Jackson. I want to see a little bit more
- 29:52and I want to see Joey Bosa stay healthy all season long.
- 29:54They need that. But I prater making a move and
- 29:58and coming coming to the Buffalo Bills one week before the season
- 30:01hitting three for three. A 60 yard field goal at the end
- 30:03of the game was impressive as well.
- 30:05And again, the best is, did you see the way he walked off?
- 30:08Yes, he did. He was like just just an old
- 30:10dude a day at the office and just like.
- 30:12Yeah, it was unbelievable. And, and, and the great thing
- 30:15about him is he's not a big man. This man is not big.
- 30:18Because when you see him at the end of the game, especially when
- 30:21they were interviewing him with Josh Allen, the guy's a Midget.
- 30:24Josh, 6 foot 5-6, foot 6. This guy can't be more than
- 30:285859. And this guy's got a leg.
- 30:31He's kicking 60 yard field goals and he's been doing it forever.
- 30:35Is he a Hall of Famer? Only time will tell.
- 30:37If you look at his numbers, he's a borderline Hall of Famer.
- 30:40And I do believe kickers are going to get into the Hall of
- 30:43Fame one way or another. We've seen we've seen these
- 30:45kickers do this. Do you think it has anything to
- 30:48do with the new way that they can practice with these balls
- 30:50during the week like they do for like Interesting.
- 30:53Do you think that has any effect on because they were getting
- 30:55brand new ones It I mean cuz we've we've seen a lot of kick
- 30:59like obviously we've seen some bad ones.
- 31:00Moody from the Niners is awful, yeah.
- 31:03Fourth round pick. Yeah, he needs to go to high
- 31:07school or something. Do what Prater is.
- 31:08Doing but. We've seen some 50 plus and 60
- 31:12pluses already early and usually it doesn't happen that quick.
- 31:15Do you think like with them being able to I guess not
- 31:19manipulate the balls but be able to use them before it happens
- 31:21that that's going to affect? It at all I do I think the
- 31:24fields to the turf. I mean it's coming off the turf
- 31:27a little bit faster than grass. Remember grass I when you're and
- 31:31again, only fish will know and we'll get into that a little bit
- 31:34later in the show. If if people want to argue that
- 31:36maybe kicks are coming off turf bet faster and better and
- 31:40quicker off a turf than it is a grass only I I don't know I I'm
- 31:44not a football player. I don't play football anymore,
- 31:47but what I will say the balls are different.
- 31:49The guys are getting a chance to kick the balls and and practice
- 31:52a little bit more before games. I, I, I saw Prater before the
- 31:55game, he was kicking 60 yard kicks, 55 yard kicks.
- 31:59And it it's pretty impressive when a guy that old and hasn't
- 32:03kicked all offseason really hasn't kicked at all and he goes
- 32:06into an NFL football game one week before the season starts
- 32:11and kicks 3 field goals and one that wins a game 60 yards
- 32:14against one of the best teams, one of the more dominant wide
- 32:18receivers. And I'm not why we see one of
- 32:20the most dominant quarterbacks in the NFL, Lamar Jackson.
- 32:23So it's an impressive win for the Buffalo Bills.
- 32:25Again, it's the game one. It's the first game of the
- 32:28season. I'm I'm interested to see what
- 32:31the Buffalo Bills are going to do all season long and if Lamar
- 32:35Jackson next week is going to come out a little bit stronger
- 32:38and and want to make a statement after losing a game that bad on
- 32:41national television. Yeah, that's not definitely not
- 32:43Lamar Jackson's fault by any means.
- 32:45It's comes back to play calling, like we were saying.
- 32:47And going back to what you were saying with the kicker, too.
- 32:49You wonder too, if the Ravens also kind of played down to that
- 32:51too. Oh, oh, this guy's 42 years old.
- 32:53He's not going to be able to kick it that far.
- 32:54And maybe they played back a little further Just right.
- 32:57All right, let's make him make a 50 yard kick instead of doing
- 32:59that then. They allow so much yards after
- 33:01the catch too. We saw that in certain playoff
- 33:03games too. This is the get wave of the NFL
- 33:05now. And the Bills, as much as they
- 33:07don't have the like true #1 receiver made those concepts
- 33:09work with the yards after the catch.
- 33:10The Ravens can only do that right?
- 33:11And again, going back to the fan situation, I know everybody is
- 33:14going to talk about it and it's something to speak about.
- 33:16And I know a lot of people going to go back and forth and what is
- 33:19the NFL going to do about it? Honestly, I don't want to hear
- 33:21about it. I, I, to me, I care about the
- 33:23game. I want to know if this, if this
- 33:25guy gets suspended for the rest of his life, I could care less.
- 33:29What I think right now and what I care about is how is Buffalo
- 33:34going to play next week in New York?
- 33:36And how is Baltimore going to come back from a bad loss like
- 33:39that and respond from a bad loss like that.
- 33:41And I, I believe John Harbaugh is one of the best coaches in
- 33:44all the football. I don't believe he's his time is
- 33:47done with Baltimore, but there's a lot of pressure on him to go
- 33:49into a game like that national television and and and really be
- 33:53embarrassed by a Buffalo Bills team that looked like they were
- 33:56done. They were out.
- 33:58The fans were leaving the stadium and then all of a sudden
- 34:02come back because Derrick Henry drops a ball.
- 34:04And by the way, I don't blame Derrick Henry took
- 34:06responsibility for losing that game.
- 34:08Derrick Henry had one of the all time great games on national
- 34:11television. So am I going to blame Derrick
- 34:14Henry for losing that game? I it was his mistake.
- 34:17He made a mistake. We've seen players make
- 34:18mistakes. How about your defense show up
- 34:20in the important parts of the game?
- 34:22They had a chance to stop Josh Allen.
- 34:24They had a chance to stop an offense that really doesn't have
- 34:27a number one. They didn't show up at the, the,
- 34:30you know, the last one of the game.
- 34:31I, I think they could if they put more blitz packages and, and
- 34:35they, they put a little bit more pressure on Josh Allen to make
- 34:37plays. We've seen The Jets do it over
- 34:38the years. We've seen Miami and even New
- 34:40England do it over the years against Josh Allen.
- 34:43Baltimore knows Josh Allen. They should have played him a
- 34:46little bit better and they should have put more pressure on
- 34:48him so he didn't have time to make those throws.
- 34:51Errol two years ago. I'm sorry, Java, just real
- 34:54quick, Errol was on the two years ago.
- 34:56I remember when we were doing the draft and you could not
- 34:59believe people were passing on Keon Coleman.
- 35:02Keon Coleman played like a number one last night.
- 35:05I don't know if he's number one. I don't think he is yet.
- 35:08But if he's going to play like that because you realize he got
- 35:10tripped up on that last play before the field goal.
- 35:13He was walking into the end zone.
- 35:14He just got tripped up. He certainly played like it.
- 35:17And when you have Josh Allen throwing for 400 yards in the
- 35:19game, 120 to Keyon Coleman and maybe you don't need a number
- 35:23one with Josh Allen, right? Zay Flowers is a really good
- 35:27receiver. I would say he's better than
- 35:28Keyon Coleman at this point in their careers.
- 35:31But IA lot of people wouldn't look at Zay Flowers as a
- 35:33surefire #1 either. I think it's that the
- 35:36quarterbacks on both of those teams are just so.
- 35:39Damn I disagree, I think Zay Flowers is a #1.
- 35:41Guy, I think he's great. Yeah, I think he's.
- 35:43An undersized guy like, he's more in like.
- 35:46So is Tyree kill? Tyree kills a small guy.
- 35:49He's the number one guy. Well well, Tyree kills bigger
- 35:53than that. Like say flowers is tiny.
- 35:54No, no, no, no. Tyree kill is practically the
- 35:57same size as a Flowers. Say Flowers is 59 Tyree kills
- 36:00about 5859. That's what he is.
- 36:02Tyree kills thicker than, say, flowers.
- 36:03Yeah, that's fine. More built and he's taller.
- 36:06Well. Zay Flowers is he put on 15 lbs.
- 36:10Look, I think Zay Flowers is going to get there.
- 36:11It's just like you look at him and you're not like prototypical
- 36:14#1 receiver. Like that's the guy you want to
- 36:16cross from your #1 receiver that has the big size, that has some
- 36:20of the speed. You know, he's not that.
- 36:22And Lamar Jackson, it just doesn't matter.
- 36:24It doesn't matter. They were playing without Isaiah
- 36:26Likely, who I think's their best tight end as well in that game.
- 36:29And they still put up points with the greatest of these.
- 36:31Their line is great. This the defense.
- 36:34How do you play defense against either of these two
- 36:36quarterbacks? Most people think the Bills and
- 36:38Ravens are top five defenses. By the way, just to go back to
- 36:41Tyree Kill and Zay Flowers, Tyree Kills 510 and 190 lbs and
- 36:46I think a couple of months ago it's a Flowers number because
- 36:49they say his weight, he was 183 lbs and he's 59.
- 36:53So and now he put 15 lbs, almost 200 lbs.
- 36:56So Zay Flowers is a bigger guy than Tyree Kill and I'm going to
- 37:00tell you right now he is a number one guy.
- 37:01He is absolutely a number one guy.
- 37:04I don't know why anybody doesn't think that he is.
- 37:07He over the last couple years, you can't stay healthy.
- 37:09That's the problem with Zay. When he when you expect him, you
- 37:13draft him in fantasy, he's in the top 20, top 25 every single
- 37:17year. The problem with Zay is he can't
- 37:19stay on the field, never can. And, and then in the important
- 37:22parts of the game, he, he can't get open well on National
- 37:26Football on Sunday Night Football against a very good
- 37:30defense and a good secondary with the, with the additions
- 37:33that they made in the offseason. I, I really do believe Zay
- 37:37Flowers proved to everybody that he can be a number one guy.
- 37:39And, and I do believe he's going to be even better than we've
- 37:42ever seen him. That was the best numbers and
- 37:43the best play we've seen Zay Flowers have as a starting
- 37:47player in the NFL in his career. And he's been in Elite for not
- 37:50what? What is it four years 3.
- 37:51Years now. Yeah, three years.
- 37:53So it was impressive. With those 4 receivers that
- 37:55everyone were really high on a row, I wanted Flowers the whole
- 37:58time for the Giants. I wanted Addison.
- 38:01Addison is good. Look, Addison is good too,
- 38:02obviously, but I think Flower is the best of that group.
- 38:05I think you look at it looks like he's the best.
- 38:07But again, he's playing with the great talent of Lamar Jackson,
- 38:11which you can't even like. How do you play defense against
- 38:14him? Because he can do everything
- 38:15just like Aaron Rodgers did outside of the pocket, but he's
- 38:18faster and he can still dissect you from inside the pocket and
- 38:22there's nothing you can do. There was one play where they
- 38:24had him dead to rights. Both defensive ends were
- 38:27crashing in on him from both sides.
- 38:29He backs up like he's playing Madden, gets out of the way of
- 38:31both of them, and then turns a -, 20 play into a + 19 play.
- 38:36And somehow the Dr. continues. That's not fair.
- 38:39That's video game stuff. And and and Josh Allen, too.
- 38:42Josh Allen's just moving and throwing at 30 yards downfield
- 38:45like it's a flick of the wrist. Josh Allen, unbelievable.
- 38:48Josh Allen was incredible. I mean, that guy is incredible.
- 38:51Some of the plays and some of the throws that this man was
- 38:54making, everybody was talking about, well, I, they're trying
- 38:58to dissect who has the best arm in the league.
- 39:01Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen over the years, Drew Brees, when they
- 39:05were trying to compare him to Peyton Manning and Eli Manning
- 39:08and all these other guys. The best arm I've seen in the
- 39:11last 20 years is Josh Allen. I, I don't think there's an
- 39:13argument to that anymore. This guy can throw 80 yard
- 39:17passes to, you know, precisely down the field, make almost
- 39:21every single throw on the back of back when you don't want to
- 39:24throw on your back foot. This guy's throwing on his back
- 39:26foot. He's making, he's throwing over
- 39:28the shoulder. He's doing so many things and
- 39:30he's doing it when he's under under pressure.
- 39:32He's running outside of the pocket.
- 39:34This man, 6 foot 5-6 foot 6, he's built like a bulldozer.
- 39:38He's running people over. He's running linebackers over in
- 39:40defensive lineman while he's making these throws.
- 39:43It's incredible watching him. And I'm not saying Lamar Jackson
- 39:46is incredible. I mean, the guy is impossible to
- 39:48stop When he when you saw Joey Bosa and I don't even remember,
- 39:51I think it was Oliver trying to tackle him and he jumped over
- 39:54them. He practically they they dived
- 39:56at him and he steps back and goes around them and runs for 25
- 40:01yards. That was.
- 40:01Incredible, I mean, both guys are incredible players and, and
- 40:06to me, the 2 best quarterbacks in the NFL.
- 40:08I'm not saying Patrick Mahomes isn't great and he isn't a great
- 40:12quarterback and he is sensational.
- 40:14I don't think he's at this caliber.
- 40:16I think these guys are taking taken over the league at the
- 40:19positions that they played. And Joe Burrow, I, I mean, Joe
- 40:22Burrow is he's, I know he got stopped yesterday and we'll get
- 40:25into the little Joe Burrow. Sorry, Jamar, Chase and Higgins
- 40:30not really doing anything in game number, but they don't play
- 40:33well in the first two or three games of the season and I don't
- 40:35I don't expect. They don't play well in
- 40:37Cleveland. No, I do believe that the
- 40:39Bengals are a lot better than these total on you know, in game
- 40:43one of the first game of the NFL season.
- 40:46And again, the Browns aren't a good team, but the Browns for
- 40:48some reason dominate. They play very well against
- 40:51Pittsburgh. They play very well against
- 40:53Baltimore and they play very well against the Bengals.
- 40:55But we'll get into that. But sensational game and I do
- 40:58believe these two guys are the best quarterbacks in the league.
- 41:00I think they proved it and they're going to be up for MVPS
- 41:03again. Well, who shows up in the big
- 41:05games right now? It's one nothing Josh Allen.
- 41:09So it was an incredible, incredible game.
- 41:12And and and Jabba, I know you will watch it.
- 41:13I think everybody in the world was watching this game.
- 41:16They weren't watching the VMA's, that's for sure.
- 41:18I had no interest watching Jersey Shore.
- 41:20People I didn't even know till I like clicked on stuff this
- 41:23morning and like. Oh God, please.
- 41:25And all the other stuff, I was like, what?
- 41:27I didn't know those were still. On yeah, I had no idea.
- 41:30They put it on CBS. They don't.
- 41:31Have music videos anymore? So why do they?
- 41:34I have the Music Video Awards. CBS put it on now CBS actually
- 41:39for the first time, MTV made a deal with CBS and Paramount to
- 41:42put it on their channel. It was on Channel 2 and what
- 41:45they were trying to do is they were trying to compete, which
- 41:48made no sense. I want to give a shout out, I
- 41:50love CBS, I love CBS Radio, I love everything that they're
- 41:53doing, but that was a mistake. How do you go on the first week
- 41:58of the NFL season, Sunday Night Football, Baltimore, Buffalo,
- 42:02the 2 great quarterbacks that Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are
- 42:06and have the VMA's on Channel 2. It makes no sense.
- 42:10Big mistake. Ladies and gentlemen, CBS, you
- 42:13should make me your director and I would have helped you guys.
- 42:16I would have told you, you know what, just shift it off next
- 42:19week. Who's playing next week on
- 42:20Sunday Night Football. I think they would have a better
- 42:22chance of, you know, succeeding. I think it's Atlanta.
- 42:26If I'm not mistaken. It's Atlanta and somebody else.
- 42:28I saw it last night. It popped on the television, but
- 42:31it's definitely Atlanta. Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh
- 42:35Steelers stole a game from the New York Jets 34 to 32 and a
- 42:40thriller. Rodgers had 244 yards passing, 4
- 42:44touchdowns in his debut for the black and gold over his former
- 42:49squad. Rodgers not one to to be shy to
- 42:52the media, took shots at The Jets organization and fans
- 42:56saying it was nice to remind those people that I could still
- 43:00play. A Chris Boswell 60 yard field
- 43:03goal with one minute and three seconds remaining won the game
- 43:08for the Steelers who despite playing well with Rogers trailed
- 43:12The Jets in total yardage 394 to 271 and 100 and 82253 in rushing
- 43:20yards. The Jets offensive line also
- 43:23only gave up one sack all game while the Steelers gave up four.
- 43:28Justin Fields, who was also facing his former team was
- 43:31excellent in losing in a losing effort, going 16 for 22280, 18
- 43:36yards and passing 1 touchdown with 12 carries for 48 yards and
- 43:42another two touchdowns on the ground.
- 43:45Jets head coach Aaron Glenn after the game saying exciting
- 43:50game, but I am not into moral victories.
- 43:52Aaron Glenn today I saw his press conference.
- 43:57He went back and forth with some of the media guys saying that we
- 44:00did good things, we did bad things.
- 44:02He said that the offensive line was sensational, the defensive
- 44:05line was sensational. The secondary made mistakes.
- 44:07Stevens made mistakes. He didn't attack Sauce Gardner.
- 44:11He he, he attacked Michael Carter.
- 44:13Michael Carter made some mistakes in the open field, in
- 44:16the slot, and so did Stevens. I don't know why they drafted
- 44:19Thomas if they're going to draft a guy in the, I think it was the
- 44:23third round, if I'm not mistaken.
- 44:24To draft a guy that high and not use him in game number one made
- 44:29absolutely no sense. He was healthy.
- 44:32He didn't play at all. Aaron Glenn to me showed you why
- 44:37The Jets chose him and and he chose The Jets.
- 44:41He wanted the job before Robert Solo was hired.
- 44:44He was interviewed for The Jets job before Robert Solo was
- 44:47hired. Bambi, as we all know, won his
- 44:49first game as a defensive corner here for the San Francisco 49ers
- 44:52on Sunday. The fact is, The Jets had one of
- 44:57the best games I've seen them play in about 10 years.
- 45:02It's crazy to say that Justin Fields showed you why The Jets
- 45:05decided and why Aaron Glenn, before he took this job, said
- 45:08that you're going to go, you're going to go after this guy.
- 45:10And I've said it before. The Jets announced that Aaron
- 45:16Glenn was going to be the head coach of the New York Football
- 45:19Jets and Gang Green, whatever they call them.
- 45:21I, I, I told everybody that when free agency opens up, the first
- 45:26guy The Jets are going to sign is Justin Fields.
- 45:29And the reason why The Jets are going to go after Justin Fields
- 45:31and wanted Justin Fields is because he's a great mobile
- 45:35quarterback. He can move inside and out of
- 45:36the pocket. It opens up the field for the
- 45:38running backs. You saw Breece Hall and what he
- 45:40did in his first game, 21 carries for 140 something yards
- 45:44and dominated the line of scrimmage.
- 45:46And, and again you see the connection he has with Garrett
- 45:49Wilson. Garrett Wilson had 9 catches for
- 45:52over 100 yards and a touchdown. You see the difference when you
- 45:56have a player like Garrett Wilson who just got $30 million
- 46:00in the offseason, is one of the top five highest paid wide
- 46:03receivers in the league. Wanted a guy like Justin Fields
- 46:06throwing in the ball and and making the move the way The Jets
- 46:09did in the offseason. Bringing him in Justin Fields to
- 46:13me is the secret success piece that The Jets have needed over
- 46:19the last ten seasons when it comes to quarterback play.
- 46:23The Jets have always had good defenses and it to me the
- 46:25downfall of the New York Jets in game number one was their
- 46:28defense, especially in the second-half of the game,
- 46:30especially in the fourth quarter when the when the mistakes
- 46:34happen, Gibson dropping the ball.
- 46:35Do I think The Jets win the game if Gibson doesn't drop the ball?
- 46:39I do if Gibson doesn't drop the ball and make that mistakes on
- 46:43the punt return, I think The Jets win the game.
- 46:45But woulda, coulda shoulda The Jets did not play well when they
- 46:50needed to, and the Pittsburgh Steelers just played good
- 46:52enough. Aaron Rodgers, I'll get into
- 46:54Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers did have 4
- 46:57touchdowns coming back to New York.
- 46:58He did. Did he play well?
- 47:00He played OK. The players around him,
- 47:03especially the wide receivers, made made enough plays.
- 47:07Austin, I don't, I didn't even know who he was until game #1 he
- 47:10made some sensational plays. A lot of their tight ends, they
- 47:13played four tight ends on Sunday.
- 47:17Four. I've never seen a team play 4
- 47:19tight ends in a game. But again, Josh Allen and we saw
- 47:25what he did over the last couple of years with the Buffalo Bills
- 47:28playing and, and, and the Buffalo Bills playing three
- 47:31tight ends in certain games. You could see that it does work.
- 47:35We've seen O'Brien do this with the, with the New England
- 47:38Patriots, with the Bill Belichick era.
- 47:40We've seen it. It does work and, and, and
- 47:43again, they don't have DK Metcalf is a great, a great wide
- 47:47receiver. I do, I think, I think he's a 1B
- 47:50wide receiver. I don't think he's A1A guy.
- 47:52And I, I heard what Aaron Glenn said today.
- 47:55He says that he's very hard to defend.
- 47:57No, he's not. We all know what DK Metcalf
- 48:00likes to do. He likes using his strength and
- 48:02his his athletic ability to go up and get the ball.
- 48:04He made some acrobatic catches, even some lucky catches in the
- 48:08game. Did he have a great game?
- 48:10No, he did not. The fact is The Jets did a very
- 48:16little in the fourth quarter to give you the confidence that
- 48:20they were going to do the one thing The Jets have not done
- 48:23over the last couple of years and that is show up in important
- 48:27parts of the fourth quarter and win those close games.
- 48:30The Jets don't do that. Same old Jets.
- 48:33I had a text message from Leaf. I've had a text message from
- 48:36Josh. I had a text message from every
- 48:39single person that roots on The Jets.
- 48:41Same old Jets. Boswell hitting a 60 yard kick,
- 48:45Sensational. He's one of the best kickers in
- 48:47the league. Three time pro ball player,
- 48:49sensational kicker. Did The Jets give the game away?
- 48:53Absolutely. Did Justin Fields play better
- 48:56than Aaron Rodgers? You're damn right he did.
- 48:58And then Aaron Rodgers. Now I have to go at Aaron
- 49:02Rodgers, who I've been a fan of for a very long time.
- 49:04I've respected Aaron Rodgers since he played for the Green
- 49:08Bay Packers in a 10 year span. I don't think there's a
- 49:10quarterback that I've seen have a better straight 10 years than
- 49:14Aaron Rodgers has had. And that goes for Tom Brady,
- 49:17Drew Brees, Peyton Manning or any of the quarterbacks, John
- 49:20Elway, any one of those guys. But here's the facts to Aaron
- 49:24Rodgers. Why are you going after the Jet
- 49:27fans? Why are you going after The Jets
- 49:29brass? You wanted The Jets to do the
- 49:32one thing and that was respect. You do it face to face.
- 49:36Yes, you had to pay for the flight to go and sit down with
- 49:38The Jets. What did you want?
- 49:39The Jets to put you in their jet to sit down with you and tell
- 49:42you that they don't want you anymore.
- 49:44The Jets said it to your face. Aaron Glenn went to you and said
- 49:48we don't need you. So now you're going to take
- 49:50shots at The Jets organization in the and all the the coaches
- 49:54and the executives because they decided to go another way.
- 49:57They didn't feel that you were the guy and you ruined this team
- 50:01last year. The confidence level of some of
- 50:04these players, Darren Wilson, even though we had 1000 yards
- 50:07last year, was he the same player he was before you?
- 50:11No, he was not Darren Wilson lost confidence last year
- 50:15because he lost confidence in you, Aaron and Breece Hall.
- 50:20Where did where did this come from in game number one?
- 50:23I know he's looking for a contract, but Breece Hall didn't
- 50:25really do that at all last year when he was playing.
- 50:29And that goes for the offensive line.
- 50:31That goes for Membu and for Shanu and even some of the some
- 50:36of the veteran players on that line that showed up.
- 50:38Simpson was sensational. That offensive line was one of
- 50:43the best offensive lines in week 1.
- 50:45I don't. If you look at PFF right now,
- 50:48they just have to be amongst the top three in all of football. 1
- 50:51sack against a very good defense.
- 50:54This was a a high profile defense going into week 1.
- 50:59Elite top seven in the league. TJ Watt is one of the best
- 51:03defensive players, if not the best defensive player in the
- 51:06league. I was he defensive player of the
- 51:08year? No, the year before he was
- 51:09defensive player of the year. It was Patrick Surtain this past
- 51:12year. This guy's the best of the best
- 51:16and The Jets, besides maybe one or two plays, absolutely stop.
- 51:19DJ Watt dominated this this defense.
- 51:23Which front seven could be a top five defense in the league now?
- 51:27I know it's Week 1, but it says a lot about this young team.
- 51:31It says a lot about Fushano and Mambo.
- 51:33Everybody was attacking the judge.
- 51:34Why would you draft Mambo? I don't know if he's really a
- 51:37first round talent. He might be a late first round
- 51:40talent at best. And everybody was saying, well,
- 51:43look, look what, look at Simmons, look at what he became.
- 51:46Look what he is. Well, Kansas City got him at the
- 51:49end of the end of the first round.
- 51:51They think that's it, that going into the the season, they
- 51:53thought that Simmons was going to be a better player than Mum
- 51:56Mambo. Well, in game #1 he wasn't.
- 52:00And that says a lot about this New York Jet team.
- 52:03That says a lot about the talent that this team has.
- 52:06Are they winning more than seven games this year?
- 52:08If The Jets have a good season, they win seven or eight games.
- 52:11In a bad season, they went four or five.
- 52:14Aaron Glenn is not going to let this team not be in every single
- 52:18game. This team is going to fight,
- 52:19they're going to scratch, they're going to claw all the
- 52:22way through the fourth quarter. That's the mentality of this New
- 52:26York Jet team. This is not the same old Jets.
- 52:29This is not The Jets that we remember with the Robert Sala,
- 52:33Sala era or any of the coaches. The Jets have had the Gases or
- 52:38the Todd Bowles. What we remember, this is a
- 52:41different team. And I think that the coaching
- 52:44staff knows it. I think the players believe in
- 52:46Aaron Glenn. You can see that.
- 52:48They trust that Aaron Glenn is going to get it done.
- 52:51He is a player's coach, but he's going to let the players know
- 52:55that if you're not going to play his way, you're not going to
- 52:57play. And that to me is a head coach.
- 53:01You can say whatever you want about Bill Belichick.
- 53:04You want to attack Bill Belichick?
- 53:05You want to say he's nasty, He's mean.
- 53:07Bill Belichick made a career on doing what he does best.
- 53:12People, players we've had all on the shows tell us that he's one
- 53:15of the funniest, nicest people in his office.
- 53:18But outside he shows that he doesn't give a crap.
- 53:21He doesn't care about the media. He doesn't care what people
- 53:24think of them. And I think that Aaron Glenn is
- 53:27that type of coach, the Bill Parcells type of coach.
- 53:30And that's why Bill Parcells told The Jets fans and spoke
- 53:35about what Aaron Glenn brings to the table.
- 53:39Bill Parcell said that that was the best pick and the most
- 53:42important pick The Jets were going to make in the next 10
- 53:45years. And bringing in a guy like Aaron
- 53:47Glenn, a guy that was drafted by the New York Jets, a guy that
- 53:51trusts the New York Jets organization by giving him the
- 53:56reins with Moji. I think that this team is
- 54:00completely different. I think this team is going to
- 54:02have some fun times to watch the the the fun spots to watch this
- 54:07year. I think they're going to be some
- 54:09interesting games that you're going to say, well, what's going
- 54:11on? You're going to see that with a
- 54:12young team. Now, I, I do believe that this
- 54:15team is not the same team we've seen over the last couple of
- 54:18years. I think we're going to see it
- 54:19week in and week out. Here's what The Jets got to do
- 54:24next week. Sunday at 1:00 PM.
- 54:28They got to show up against Buffalo at MetLife Stadium.
- 54:32At Jetlife Stadium, they got to get the fans behind them because
- 54:38against Pittsburgh, they were the Terrible Towels.
- 54:41There were more Pittsburgh Steeler fans there than there
- 54:45were Jet fans. It was loud and the Pittsburgh
- 54:49Steeler fans were crazy at MetLife.
- 54:53These home games play a big part on where this team's going to be
- 54:57at the end of the season and the fans need to show up and the
- 55:00fans need to be loud and they need to do what they did on
- 55:04Sunday in Week 1 and that's show up offensive line.
- 55:07And by the way, Quinton Williams was sensational.
- 55:09Will Will McDonald is the real deal. 2 sacks, almost had three
- 55:13sacks this team. Jermaine Johnson shows up.
- 55:16He was a big part of the front 7.
- 55:18This is a great young front 7. Sherwood played well.
- 55:21Quincy Williams, even though he made a mistake with the penalty
- 55:24that he had in the fourth quarter, played well.
- 55:27This front 7 played well. The secondary there's questions.
- 55:29Is Stevens the guy? If he's not, I want to see more.
- 55:32I want to see Thomas. I want to see Michael.
- 55:34Carter needs to show up. He got a lot of money a year
- 55:37ago. They just paid him a lot of
- 55:39money for a slot corner. You got to show up in the game.
- 55:42You cannot give the Pittsburgh Steelers in Austin.
- 55:45Who the hell is Austin? That's to out be.
- 55:48I'll play you and I'll run you in the open field that I I
- 55:53didn't get. I didn't understand it.
- 55:55But Aaron Rodgers, you want to break.
- 55:56You want to break that you, you have 4 touches.
- 55:58And by the way, I want to say something to Maddie Ice.
- 56:01I have to say this. His broadcasting crap that came
- 56:05out of his mouth after the game that we haven't even seen the
- 56:07best of. Aaron Rodgers, What are you on
- 56:09drugs? Aaron Rodgers probably had his
- 56:11best game. He's not throwing 4 touchdowns
- 56:13in a game. Again, I guarantee you he will
- 56:16not throw 4 touchdowns in a game.
- 56:17Teams understand what Aaron Rodgers likes to do.
- 56:20He doesn't run outside of the pocket.
- 56:21How many times did you see Aaron Rodgers run outside of the
- 56:23pocket? Honestly two times.
- 56:26The guy is a pocket passer. Now if this offensive line
- 56:29doesn't protect them, which by the way, they were not good
- 56:32against The Jets defense, now The Jets defense is going to be
- 56:35elite. But if you do that this year,
- 56:38Aaron Rodgers is not going to play a full season.
- 56:41Who's their backup quarterback right now?
- 56:42He said Rudolph. I I rest my case.
- 56:44Good luck to the Pittsburgh Steelers if Aaron Rodgers goes
- 56:47down, they better protect him better because The Jets were
- 56:50getting at him. Quinton Williams was
- 56:51sensational. He was the best player on the
- 56:54field. Shout out to Quinton Williams QW
- 56:57he was sensational, dominated line 25 lbs loss.
- 57:01You can see the difference when he's on the field.
- 57:03They were shifting him on the line.
- 57:04He wasn't double team. This is a different defense.
- 57:07When Quinton Williams is in triple teams and double teams
- 57:09now, Will McDonald on one side and Jermaine Johnson on the
- 57:12other, you're going to see us. You're going to see an all pro
- 57:15year from Quinton Williams. This guy was the bet.
- 57:18He was better than TJ Watt in Week 1.
- 57:20Sensational. Absolutely sensational.
- 57:22Yep, and TJ Watt barely got any pressures at all.
- 57:25Like I only saw one that he was even close to the quarterback.
- 57:27I think there was one where he got to Fields.
- 57:29I think Fields kind of ran into him, but for the most part you
- 57:32saw both jets tackle. He handed the ball off and then
- 57:34he killed them, Did a really close line.
- 57:36Yeah. Did a.
- 57:36Really good job at adjusting the TJ Watt, and that's a big key
- 57:39when it came to winning in the trenches.
- 57:40The wave of the game. Now, it's a cliche that everyone
- 57:43says, but Philly obviously proved it last year, just
- 57:45building it up in the trenches. They win the Super Bowl, they do
- 57:47it in dominating fashion all throughout the playoffs.
- 57:49And you see that The Jets are trying to build their team in
- 57:51that mold. And Quentin Williams probably
- 57:53besides the year after he got his contract where he was a
- 57:56little down, has been fantastic. And now you see that quickness
- 57:58in his game, getting it back to another level, which is
- 58:01something that this defense is going to need in it with Aaron
- 58:04Glenn if they want to adjust to kind of play a hybrid like you
- 58:06saw them do in Detroit too. And the same thing with the
- 58:08linebackers to all these linebackers playing in different
- 58:10types of roles. You really saw them play at a
- 58:12very high level. The only thing that was a big
- 58:15weakness for them, like you said, Brandon Stevens I think is
- 58:17really bad. It was the he's the liability of
- 58:19the Ravens defense the last two years.
- 58:20So I don't trust him at all. And then Carter allowing too
- 58:23much yardage after the catch. I think that was the really the
- 58:25only problem. Metcalf is a guy that is not a
- 58:28really big route runner. He just got open in a lot of
- 58:31simple routes and got 2 yards catch turned into 10 yards and.
- 58:36There was just a lot of mistakes.
- 58:37It was a lot of mistakes, especially in the late third
- 58:39quarter and the fourth quarter. The Jets have to do better.
- 58:42They they have to. And when you're controlling,
- 58:45trolling the clock and you have Breeze Hall dominating the line
- 58:47of scrimmage, you're going, you're going to have to use
- 58:50those guys. You have the bodies, you have
- 58:52the horses that are going to be able to run out the clock.
- 58:55I don't know why they stopped running the ball through Breeze
- 58:57Hall. There were certain parts of the
- 58:59fourth quarter they stopped running.
- 59:01They were throwing the ball a little too much and they weren't
- 59:03trusting in what they're strong at.
- 59:05And that's work the offensive line and dominate the line of
- 59:08scrimmage. They did very, very well.
- 59:11And if they're playing the Buffalo Bills team, I honestly
- 59:13think the Steelers front 7 is better than the Buffalo Bills.
- 59:16So they should be able to do it against the Buffalo Bills this
- 59:18week. But the only question is, are
- 59:20they going to show up week by week and do what they're going
- 59:24to do like they did in week one? That's the only question.
- 59:27That's what worries me about The Jets.
- 59:29It's consistency, which they have not done year in and year
- 59:32out. Moving on to Justin Field,
- 59:33Justin Fields, this is the most crisp a game I've ever seen of
- 59:35him as a passer. He's had some big games.
- 59:37Because he's being coached. Yes.
- 59:38And he's had some big games. He had some big games against
- 59:41Detroit, I think, including one I believe on Thanksgiving.
- 59:43He had that big game against Miami or he had almost 175
- 59:45rushing yards in that game and had I think 213 passing yards,
- 59:48but nothing like you saw with the pinpoint accuracy deep and
- 59:51with those intermediate throws that were giving him trouble at
- 59:54different points in his career. Like you said, Garrett Wilson, I
- 59:56think they can expand his game a lot more because of that.
- 59:59Garrett Wilson's always been thought of as one of the best
- 1:00:01route runners, but you saw coaching Staffs kind of misuse
- 1:00:03him at certain points. You.
- 1:00:05See the connection they have with one another and maybe if
- 1:00:08they make a move for Olave who had a pretty good week too.
- 1:00:10I, I know Olave is going to become available because the
- 1:00:13Saints are not a good team. So they're going to be looking
- 1:00:16to trade him at the trade deadline and they're going to be
- 1:00:18a lot of teams looking for number one guy.
- 1:00:19I, I expect the Kansas City Chiefs and, and maybe quite a
- 1:00:23few other teams. Miami might be moving Tyreek
- 1:00:26Hill and maybe Waddle because they're not a good team and
- 1:00:29they're going to be looking to move players because they can't
- 1:00:31afford it. Or maybe they don't want to
- 1:00:32afford it and they want to rebuild.
- 1:00:34So I, I, I will say this, The Jets, the connection that you
- 1:00:39see, the connection that Justin Fields has with Garrett Wilson.
- 1:00:43I, you, you see why The Jets wanted to connect these two guys
- 1:00:47and wanted to make that move in the offseason to bring Justin
- 1:00:49Fields and, and he is getting coached.
- 1:00:51This is a different quarterback now.
- 1:00:53Are The Jets going to go after a quarterback at the trade
- 1:00:55deadline? I mean, not to treat that in, in
- 1:00:57the offseason, in the, in the draft, 100%.
- 1:01:00I, I think The Jets are going to bring in a young quarterback.
- 1:01:02That's what a new coach always does.
- 1:01:04Aaron Glenn. Justin Fields is an Aaron
- 1:01:06Glenn's guy. But that doesn't mean that
- 1:01:07Justin Fields can't be the quarterback of the future for
- 1:01:09the New York Jets. It just means that The Jets are
- 1:01:12going to draft the quarterback to sit behind Justin Fields
- 1:01:14maybe for two or three years until Justin Fields gets hurt.
- 1:01:18Remember, Justin Fields is a mobile quarterback.
- 1:01:20He is not a pocket present quarterback, by the way.
- 1:01:23Justin Fields meets some of the most crisps, crisp passes I've
- 1:01:27ever seen him have. If he plays like that, that is
- 1:01:30Lamar. That is Lamar Jackson esque.
- 1:01:33If he can play like that, I'm not saying he's Lamar Jackson,
- 1:01:36but if he can run the ball and do the things that he was doing
- 1:01:39in the open field with his legs and make crisp passes like that,
- 1:01:43The Jets got something with a guy like Justin Fields.
- 1:01:45I I'm telling you, I love Justin Fields.
- 1:01:48Love them. That was the comparison I was
- 1:01:50thinking out of the draft too, because I Lamar Jackson was
- 1:01:52still kind of, he came out of the draft was still a little bit
- 1:01:54raw when it came to the middle of field accuracy and the
- 1:01:57outside throws. Justin Fields I thought did
- 1:01:58better with that in college. You just didn't have the overall
- 1:02:01accuracy that you wanted to have right away.
- 1:02:04And obviously you got badly coached after that by a terrible
- 1:02:06Chicago coaching staff between the first regime and the second
- 1:02:09and it hit on him. And now you're seeing it be used
- 1:02:11a lot more. And I think these guys are
- 1:02:13really buying into their system. And if they do get another
- 1:02:15receiver, I agree with you with the way these teams play in the
- 1:02:18trenches right now, the defense will adjust.
- 1:02:20This is definitely looking like a possible playoff team.
- 1:02:22I don't think it's their playoff team, not yet.
- 1:02:24I, I do not believe The Jets are a playoff team, but I, I think
- 1:02:27that they're, they're proving that they could be a lot better
- 1:02:30than people think they're going to be.
- 1:02:31They could be an 8 win team. They if they show up and they
- 1:02:34play week in and week out like this and the offensive line
- 1:02:37stays healthy, which Elijah Vera Tucker went down before the
- 1:02:39season even started. Could you imagine how good this
- 1:02:42offensive line would be with Elijah Vera Tucker?
- 1:02:45I mean, it's ridiculous. It it's scary what The Jets are
- 1:02:48doing right now when it comes to building the trenches and Aaron
- 1:02:51Glenn is the secret here. We saw what Campbell did with
- 1:02:54the the Detroit Detroit Lions and it took them probably about
- 1:02:58four years with Dan Campbell. It might take two or three years
- 1:03:01with an Aaron Glenn, but I think he got the right dose.
- 1:03:05They got the right food or the right panel of players that
- 1:03:09could get him over the hump and be a contender.
- 1:03:10I the AFC, remember, is wide open besides the Ravens and the
- 1:03:14Kansas City Chiefs over the last couple of years and the Buffalo
- 1:03:17Bills. Who who you going to trust in
- 1:03:19the AFC? We know Denver Bonex didn't show
- 1:03:22up in week, so we understand that these young quarterbacks
- 1:03:26have to show up week in and week out and and until these
- 1:03:28sophomore quarterbacks do that, CJ Stroud didn't do it.
- 1:03:31We'll see if Jaden Daniels will do it this year.
- 1:03:33He played, he was up and down in week one against the Giants.
- 1:03:36It wasn't Jaden Daniels that dominated.
- 1:03:37It was really the the defense of the Washington Commanders that
- 1:03:41were sensational. But nevertheless, we'll get into
- 1:03:43that a little bit later. But it was, it was fun to watch.
- 1:03:46I, I have to give The Jets and Jabba, I know you watch the
- 1:03:49game. I have to give The Jets a little
- 1:03:50bit more credit than than a lot of people are giving them
- 1:03:53because of Aaron Glenn and, and, and the type of coach and the,
- 1:03:56the type of person personality he's been for the New York Jets
- 1:04:00since he was brought in. No, I, I think it's, it's one of
- 1:04:04those things too, where, you know, just listening to all the
- 1:04:07guys talk about The Jets and having Aaron Glenn come in and
- 1:04:11and how he's bought in and how all of his old teammates showed
- 1:04:15up to show the support for him. Because this is the guy and he
- 1:04:18he buys into to what The Jets are.
- 1:04:20And like you said it, it's the exact person who they should
- 1:04:23have got first, because not only does he believe in it, you know,
- 1:04:26he understands what it takes to win there.
- 1:04:28And I, and I think to some of that, you know, getting away
- 1:04:31from Reese Hall and, and doing that is, is just knowing how
- 1:04:34good you are, but obviously relying on it.
- 1:04:36And I think Glenn will do a great job and like you said that
- 1:04:39that that's an 8 win team and losing Vera Tucker too, But it's
- 1:04:43because he's going to believe in them and still that they can do
- 1:04:46this. And you know, they've had some
- 1:04:47rough years or whatever, but I think he's the right guy to do
- 1:04:50that and to be like, Hey, we are this good.
- 1:04:52Like let's not go away from what we're good at.
- 1:04:54Let's stand on it and let's go to it and and believe that we
- 1:04:58can. And I think he just does a great
- 1:04:59job and just seeing how the support that he's got from his
- 1:05:02teammates and the organization, everybody kind of around him
- 1:05:05that he's bought in and just his guys coming in to support him on
- 1:05:08his first game. And it just shows that that he,
- 1:05:11he has bought in and this is the right guy for the team.
- 1:05:13And, and I think it will be a couple years, But I think it's,
- 1:05:17it's one of those things where you seem like exactly what you
- 1:05:19said, what Dan Campbell did, where when you believe in
- 1:05:21somebody and you believe in the process, they're going to,
- 1:05:23they're going to fight and go through it for you.
- 1:05:25And they've got the guys to do it.
- 1:05:27So it'll be it'll be interesting.
- 1:05:29I think they're going to surprise some people.
- 1:05:32It's it's the breakdown that we talked about before this season,
- 1:05:34right, Errol? How are they going to use Justin
- 1:05:36Fields to maximize his abilities?
- 1:05:39Because you don't want Justin Fields throwing the ball 45 * a
- 1:05:42game like he's Josh Allen. That's not what you want.
- 1:05:45You want him throwing it probably half as much and being
- 1:05:49laser point accurate. Well, guess what?
- 1:05:50He was 16 of 22. It's exactly what you want.
- 1:05:53And how much do you want him to carry the ball?
- 1:05:55You want him to get at least 10 touches.
- 1:05:56Probably he had 12 carries and he had 48 yards and he had two
- 1:06:00touchdowns on the ground and he had one in the air.
- 1:06:03That was a beautiful strike to his boy from Ohio State, Garrett
- 1:06:06Wilson. That's that'll work for me if
- 1:06:11you know, against most teams. My thing is I don't know how
- 1:06:14much of a real test Pittsburgh is.
- 1:06:17I think Pittsburgh's probably around the same level as The
- 1:06:19Jets. I think it was a good matchup
- 1:06:20for the start of the season, but I don't know if those two teams
- 1:06:23are 10 win teams or they're six win teams or they're somewhere
- 1:06:27in between, but I don't know how good they are.
- 1:06:29I don't think either one of them are great.
- 1:06:30I think the Bills are great. And if The Jets show up and I
- 1:06:34knew you were going to love Membu, Membu's going to, you're
- 1:06:36just going to love watching this dude running the ball to the
- 1:06:39right, you know, setting. Up I honestly, I I I like Membu,
- 1:06:43but I think Foshano had a better game.
- 1:06:45I think Foshano was. Foshano is going to be a better
- 1:06:47player. He is sensational.
- 1:06:49What they want to do as a runner.
- 1:06:51You're going to love Membu. That guy's just going to be
- 1:06:55everything you want. And if they can get Tipman going
- 1:06:57next to them, even without Vera Tucker, that's like a really,
- 1:07:01really difficult team to run to play run defense against.
- 1:07:04Cam Hayward, you know, played in that game.
- 1:07:07He didn't play much to the preseason.
- 1:07:09So maybe that, you know, maybe he wasn't up to speed and he's
- 1:07:11older, but that guy usually stops good offensive lineman.
- 1:07:16They I thought they controlled the line of scrimmage.
- 1:07:18They definitely did. I thought they controlled the
- 1:07:20line of scrimmage and they outplayed them and they lost the
- 1:07:22game. So there's the same old Jets
- 1:07:25part of it because they lost the game.
- 1:07:27But everything else, Errol, you said it very different feel to
- 1:07:31this. I, I think you, if you're a jet
- 1:07:33fan, you should be excited. I mean, Aaron Glenn says the
- 1:07:36right thing. I, I think the fans got a chance
- 1:07:38to see what this team could be in the future with Membu on one
- 1:07:42side and for Shanu on the other. I mean, it's very hard to find
- 1:07:46tackles of that good if they can stay healthy.
- 1:07:48I mean, watch out. The New York Jets have something
- 1:07:51and their defense is always good.
- 1:07:52It's it's really finding the right pieces for the the last
- 1:07:56time this offensive line was this good was with main gold
- 1:07:59and, and Ferguson and and they added some old guys to the line
- 1:08:04every single year. This is this is the year where
- 1:08:07we're going to get a chance to see the youth in in Tippmann and
- 1:08:11obviously Membu and Elijah Vertucker.
- 1:08:13If he comes back, he's going to have to come back on a cheaper
- 1:08:16contract next year. Remember this guy, he's been in
- 1:08:18the league for five years and three out of the five years he's
- 1:08:20had major injuries. So The Jets are going to have an
- 1:08:24opportunity for the next couple of years where they're going to
- 1:08:27be able to build around youth. And the the the two most
- 1:08:30important things, and anybody will tell you this on building a
- 1:08:32championship team is a front 7 defense and a front and front
- 1:08:36five offense. If you have that, it doesn't
- 1:08:40matter how great your quarterback is, you can win.
- 1:08:42And you can ask the Buccaneers. Remember the Buccaneers when
- 1:08:45they won the Super Bowl, the years, the year that they won
- 1:08:48the Super Bowl with Gruden. I mean, who was their
- 1:08:50quarterback? Brad Johnson.
- 1:08:52Brad Johnson? How about let's go to the
- 1:08:55Baltimore Ravens in 2000. We all know, we we all know what
- 1:09:00happened. They had a great front 7 and a
- 1:09:02great front 5. And when you have those kind of
- 1:09:05pieces, you can win. So, and I'm, and I'm not saying
- 1:09:08Justin Fields is anywhere close to Johnson or any of that, but I
- 1:09:12believe that when you have a player of that magnitude and
- 1:09:16that ability like a Justin Fields, he could take away some
- 1:09:19of the deficiencies of certain parts of your offense.
- 1:09:22And you can see that The Jets did never number one.
- 1:09:25And Jeremy Rucker, I see Josh and Jeremy, what where did this
- 1:09:27guy come from? Jeremy Rucker was is going to
- 1:09:30get touches. He's going to get touches
- 1:09:32because he played with Justin Fields in Ohio State.
- 1:09:36So I expect Jeremy Rucker, he's going to get touches and, and
- 1:09:40remember he almost lost his body.
- 1:09:41He almost got, he almost got dropped before, before the
- 1:09:44season, the preseason was over because The Jets didn't like how
- 1:09:47he was playing. But Justin Fields is going to do
- 1:09:50whatever he can with his guy and he is a Long Island Navy.
- 1:09:52I want Long Island native, I want to see a Jeremy Rucker play
- 1:09:56and I want him to play well. It's just the question is he's
- 1:09:59is he going to as, as it goes further, is Mason Taylor going
- 1:10:03to take that spot? And Mason Taylor is still young.
- 1:10:05It takes two to three years before a tight end figures
- 1:10:07things out. So it's going to be fun to
- 1:10:09watch. Thank you to all the fans that

- 1:10:31www.worldwidesportsradio.com. Speedy, who do we have on
- 1:10:37Wednesday? Shout out to Nathan for getting
- 1:10:38this guy Jordan Ronin. He's the ESPN National NFL
- 1:10:41Nation reporter national reporter for the New York
- 1:10:44Football Giants. There you go and I know OU giant
- 1:10:47fans are going to love his takes about the giants.
- 1:10:49I know official, you know, probably you know what in his
- 1:10:53pants, but anyways, it's. Going to be terrible.
- 1:10:55He's going to say the team sucks.
- 1:10:57I know that's what's going to happen.
- 1:11:00Is it wrong? No.
- 1:11:01You, you'll probably give them some credit with their defense.
- 1:11:04I mean, Abdul Carter's good. And then it ends right there.
- 1:11:07They're. Great.
- 1:11:09Listen, you have some kind of future.
- 1:11:11You have Abdul Carter, you have Burns and you have Dexter
- 1:11:14Lawrence. Mr. Sexy Dexy, who, by the way,
- 1:11:18when he came into the league, I will never get credit for it.
- 1:11:20I'm the one who gave him that nickname.
- 1:11:22I called him Sexy Dexy so, and that was before he came from
- 1:11:26Clemson and everything that I called him Sexy Dexy, I'm
- 1:11:29telling you. Job was shaking his head.
- 1:11:31I was the one that gave him that nickname.
- 1:11:33I was the one that gave him that nickname.
- 1:11:34I need evidence. We'll go back.
- 1:11:37We'll go back to one of our shows because I have every one
- 1:11:39of our shows. Yes, I was the one that gave him
- 1:11:43the nickname. He was playing in the national
- 1:11:44championship Speedy. And I called him Sexy Dexy and I
- 1:11:49said he I, I thought he was going to be a good player going
- 1:11:52to the NFL when the Giants drafted him too, because I
- 1:11:54watched him. He dominated in the national
- 1:11:56championship game. So I remember that's all I'm
- 1:11:59going to say. And the guy that it was the
- 1:12:02Raiders that drafted him. I didn't think he was going to
- 1:12:04be good. Who was the guy who was the pass
- 1:12:06rush at the Raiders? Well, Ferrell.
- 1:12:08Ferrell. Yeah, I didn't think he was.
- 1:12:10The strange 4th overall pick. Like I thought he was going to
- 1:12:12be good, but not top five good. Yeah, I didn't.
- 1:12:15Think he was going to be good. I thought Dexter Lawrence had a
- 1:12:17really good national championship.
- 1:12:19That was the first of many Mike Mayock, yes, proving maybe he
- 1:12:23didn't know what he was talking. About well, he actually kind of,
- 1:12:25it actually kind of washed because in the fifth round they
- 1:12:27drafted Max Crosby. Yes, he.
- 1:12:29Did. Yeah, but that's getting lucky.
- 1:12:31Yeah, just drafted Jacobs. Here too.
- 1:12:33That's right. Being bad at drafting in all the
- 1:12:35other. Rounds, yeah, he did.
