- 34:41Speaker 25: because that's wold.
- 34:57Speaker 4: We do. We're not.
- 35:14Speaker 8: And ladies and gentlemen. It's my distinct pleasure to bring
- 35:17Speaker 8: in my dear friend, mister Rubby drummed Jacodia. How are you,
- 35:20Speaker 8: Rubby good Man?
- 35:23Speaker 14: How are you? Brother?
- 35:24Speaker 8: I'm doing all right. I am completely enthralled in the
- 35:28Speaker 8: World Cup right now. I'm finding myself whether the game
- 35:31Speaker 8: is on or whatever it is, to whatever degree, I
- 35:34Speaker 8: am certainly watching it. Most of the time it's passive.
- 35:37Speaker 8: But if there's a team or whatever that I'm curious about,
- 35:39Speaker 8: I'm diving in. So the question is who you got,
- 35:43Speaker 8: who you think is winning this thing?
- 35:45Speaker 7: Bro, I'm in full olay olay, olay, dude. I know
- 35:51Speaker 7: that people are gonna you know what, I don't care.
- 35:54Speaker 7: Usa Man, USA put together the most amazing victory. You know.
- 36:00Speaker 7: I performed at the LA Memorial Coliseum for the FanFest
- 36:03Speaker 7: for the kickoff, and the emotions were so high. It
- 36:06Speaker 7: was so exciting. And you know what, US has been
- 36:09Speaker 7: this underdog and they've been insulted and ship on their
- 36:13Speaker 7: whole life, but all the things, and now like they
- 36:17Speaker 7: showed out.
- 36:18Speaker 12: They came in.
- 36:20Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean I forgot the one guy I'm driving
- 36:24Speaker 7: sort of space, but he got eighty Yeah, he got
- 36:27Speaker 7: eighty two passes all. Yeah. No one in the history
- 36:33Speaker 7: of the sports has ever done that. I mean they
- 36:35Speaker 7: are just dialed.
- 36:37Speaker 8: Yeah, they are dialed in, and I think Bochettino has
- 36:39Speaker 8: him playing him playing in a certain way. They've they
- 36:42Speaker 8: they really had the right discipline, they had the right
- 36:45Speaker 8: attacking mentality. I think they look really impressive. For one,
- 36:49Speaker 8: is not easy to do regardless of who you're playing
- 36:52Speaker 8: and what you're doing in the World Cup. That's that's
- 36:54Speaker 8: really some some kind of statement there. So I'm curious
- 36:57Speaker 8: to see what Team USA does does here going on.
- 37:01Speaker 7: You know what, man, they are going to crush it
- 37:03Speaker 7: on Friday. I am so excited by the way. If
- 37:06Speaker 7: anyone's listening to this and you're around Venice Beach, I
- 37:09Speaker 7: am performing in this crazy, wild drum line at the
- 37:14Speaker 7: official Men's US soccer house in Venice. It's like on Windword,
- 37:19Speaker 7: like seventy two wind Word or something like that.
- 37:21Speaker 8: Wow, well let's get into this listen, Rebby. We have
- 37:26Speaker 8: seen you performing on all kinds of stages with all
- 37:31Speaker 8: kinds of artists hanging from all kinds of different places.
- 37:34Speaker 8: If you've ever seen a drum kit and you've seen
- 37:37Speaker 8: a crazy South Asian kid just banging away on there,
- 37:41Speaker 8: that's probably Revey and Revi maman. You have become an
- 37:45Speaker 8: icon out there on the stage level, and so it's
- 37:48Speaker 8: no surprise that FIFA knocks on your door and says, hey,
- 37:50Speaker 8: bring some life to our events. And I know that's
- 37:52Speaker 8: what you're up to here in La.
- 37:55Speaker 7: You know, it is such a blessing. It's so crazy,
- 37:58Speaker 7: like and dude, this is so exciting. Yeah, Sunday for
- 38:03Speaker 7: the first time I get to go play so far
- 38:06Speaker 7: Paddle World Pop Match. It's ninety nine percent sold out.
- 38:10Speaker 8: Already incredible, going to be yeah, incredible, What a moment
- 38:14Speaker 8: I am.
- 38:16Speaker 7: Yeah, that's that's huge man. It's like a yeah, what
- 38:20Speaker 7: do you see?
- 38:20Speaker 8: What are you seeing with the energy so differently than
- 38:23Speaker 8: than maybe another past you know, sporting events or whatever.
- 38:26Speaker 8: What's what's unique about the World Cup that you're feeling
- 38:29Speaker 8: out there as a performer.
- 38:31Speaker 7: Okay, so as a performer, especially a drummer, right, So
- 38:37Speaker 7: from my perspective, soccer is a drum culture. You know,
- 38:40Speaker 7: like against South American and India are very drum or heavy,
- 38:44Speaker 7: whereas like Europe maybe more melodic heavy. Yeah, and then
- 38:49Speaker 7: you know, like you know, all these different sounds.
- 38:52Speaker 8: Are very indicative of their cultures, right that you have
- 38:57Speaker 8: like these like very yeah, you get these like drumming
- 39:00Speaker 8: kind of a marching, kind of a samba kind of
- 39:03Speaker 8: things going on with some of those South American teams
- 39:05Speaker 8: like Brazil, and you feel that energy in the audience.
- 39:08Speaker 8: And then you know you have like these you know,
- 39:10Speaker 8: chanting kind of things coming from the European teams or
- 39:13Speaker 8: they're singing songs, so you see that very evidently like that,
- 39:16Speaker 8: like there's this contrast and style. So I am sure
- 39:20Speaker 8: that you're bringing a lot of energy to a lot
- 39:22Speaker 8: of those teams that are really drum centric. Right now.
- 39:25Speaker 7: You know, what I am man and what I do
- 39:28Speaker 7: is so perfect for sporting events, but in particular for
- 39:30Speaker 7: soccer because like even if you go to the Galaxy
- 39:34Speaker 7: or LAFC. They have about one hundred drummers and about
- 39:39Speaker 7: three thousand people in their fan groups chanting the whole game,
- 39:45Speaker 7: I mean, from an hour before the game until they're done.
- 39:48Speaker 7: I'm like, how do they do it? Like it's unbelievable,
- 39:52Speaker 7: but the energy and the insanity. And I'll tell you what, man,
- 39:55Speaker 7: I've been to every sporting event there is. I've been
- 39:58Speaker 7: to hockey matches and baseball, soccer, football, everything, you know
- 40:03Speaker 7: what I mean, and nothing, I mean nothing, nothing is
- 40:08Speaker 7: even five percent closed. Check this out. So I met
- 40:13Speaker 7: the host of a host committee, and I met her
- 40:17Speaker 7: parents and they're from Alabama and it was her parents'
- 40:21Speaker 7: first soccer match and they went to the USA match
- 40:24Speaker 7: at so fun. Well, of course she's a host, right,
- 40:26Speaker 7: so like she's been working on for nine years. She
- 40:28Speaker 7: did the big nicest woman ever, most people, family, but
- 40:33Speaker 7: even her father, like you know, eighty five ninety year
- 40:37Speaker 7: old white dude from Alabama. That's Crimson Tide, roll Tide
- 40:43Speaker 7: all the way generationally, right. It was like, man, I
- 40:46Speaker 7: thought the Role Tide games were something, but I've never
- 40:49Speaker 7: seen anything like this.
- 40:52Speaker 8: Yeah, especially Yeah, I got the feeling from people that
- 40:55Speaker 8: the national anthem and just the vibe there and everybody
- 40:57Speaker 8: with the red and white jerseys in the whole stadium
- 41:00Speaker 8: that it must have been such a vibe.
- 41:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:03Speaker 7: You know what, man, I'm one of those guys that
- 41:05Speaker 7: cries at the anthem. I just love it so much.
- 41:07Speaker 7: You know, while being being Indian, right, we were raised
- 41:12Speaker 7: to be so appreciative of how good we have it,
- 41:15Speaker 7: you know what I mean, because when our parents left
- 41:18Speaker 7: India in the sixties, it was rugged. Man. It was
- 41:21Speaker 7: all nationalists and there wasn't an open market, you know,
- 41:25Speaker 7: everyone didn't have equal opportunities, you know what I mean,
- 41:28Speaker 7: and it was so cast system oriented. So like we
- 41:31Speaker 7: you know, we would watch the news as kids and
- 41:33Speaker 7: be like, oh, America, is this America That if anybody
- 41:37Speaker 7: like me and my brother ever like repeated any of
- 41:39Speaker 7: that mountains, my dad would light us up and be like,
- 41:42Speaker 7: you have no idea. There's more opportunity here. You have
- 41:45Speaker 7: every air conditioning, light, water co roads, school with the roof,
- 41:51Speaker 7: you know you have. So I get extra emotional at
- 41:56Speaker 7: those and man, the emotions were so high and people
- 41:59Speaker 7: were going going crazy. I mean it was it was
- 42:03Speaker 7: easily one of the most beautiful things I've ever experienced
- 42:06Speaker 7: and I wasn't even at the match.
- 42:08Speaker 8: Yeah, it's really transformed this country. I love its World
- 42:13Speaker 8: Cup is really caught on big in the US, and
- 42:15Speaker 8: I think this one specifically has captured everybody's imagination and
- 42:19Speaker 8: Rebby first of all, thanks for joining us. Second of all,
- 42:22Speaker 8: thank you for going out there and really repping the
- 42:24Speaker 8: culture for us out there in the world and the
- 42:27Speaker 8: whole World Cup vibe of it. And folks, if you
- 42:29Speaker 8: are in La here Rebbie, tell us where you're going
- 42:32Speaker 8: to be here in La performing over the next few days,
- 42:35Speaker 8: over the next few weeks.
- 42:36Speaker 7: So you know what's easy to get into is on
- 42:40Speaker 7: the nineteenth and the twenty fifth, the Men's US Official
- 42:44Speaker 7: Soccer House. That's going to be so on fire, I
- 42:47Speaker 7: mean just on fire. It's small, it's only six hundred people. Yeah,
- 42:51Speaker 7: So that is on Friday the ninth, This Friday, and
- 42:55Speaker 7: then the twenty fifth. Mannice Beach, Dude, this is going
- 42:59Speaker 7: to be rat on July tenth and eleventh and potentially twelve.
- 43:05Speaker 7: They are doing a fan fest right there by the
- 43:08Speaker 7: pier by the skate park, somewhere right right in that
- 43:12Speaker 7: pocket there and overkind of by the Venice Pier, like
- 43:18Speaker 7: it's going to be wild. That fan fest in Venice
- 43:21Speaker 7: is going to be fun, you know what I mean,
- 43:24Speaker 7: because Vennis is always just crazy, right, it's fun. And
- 43:27Speaker 7: when when you get the unity, you get the drum circles,
- 43:29Speaker 7: and you get the skateboarders and you get the you
- 43:31Speaker 7: get all those, there's a real sense of unity. I
- 43:37Speaker 7: feel like in Nice, right, they have their own culture.
- 43:40Speaker 8: Yeah, yes they do, you know for sure, for sure yes.
- 43:45Speaker 7: And they're full on right, they're all in and it's
- 43:47Speaker 7: so entertainment heavy, right because a bunch of crazy artists
- 43:50Speaker 7: and musicians and all that. And then now with all
- 43:53Speaker 7: the check there anyway, I think that's going to go off.
- 43:56Speaker 7: So yeah, man, like I'll give you all these dates
- 43:58Speaker 7: and you can check it out Ruckus from Sami's page
- 44:01Speaker 7: of my page. And and but I mean World Cup
- 44:06Speaker 7: fever in La It's just it's so on fire.
- 44:08Speaker 8: It's like, you know, across the country, across the world.
- 44:13Speaker 8: In fact, it's been so cool to see it. I
- 44:15Speaker 8: just saw footage of Scotland and the Scotland national fans
- 44:20Speaker 8: over there hanging out in Boston and there was footage
- 44:23Speaker 8: of them at the Red Sox game the other night,
- 44:25Speaker 8: and I thought that was so cool. They're chanting the
- 44:29Speaker 8: entire game of baseball, and baseball fans have never seen
- 44:33Speaker 8: anything like that, and so that was so cool to see. Rubbie.
- 44:37Speaker 8: Thanks so much for hanging out with us today, and
- 44:41Speaker 8: congratulations on being part of these huge celebrations across the country.
- 44:46Speaker 8: And we're looking forward to hanging out with you here
- 44:48Speaker 8: in the very soon future here.
- 44:51Speaker 7: Ah, thank you so much. Y' I'm very blessed to
- 44:53Speaker 7: be a small part of it. I'm just thrilled, glass lucky.
- 44:57Speaker 7: I'm on a winning break. Baby, let's go.
- 44:58Speaker 8: That's right, Rebbie. All right, folks, that's Robbie drums right there,
- 45:01Speaker 8: and we'll be right back after the song.

- 56:38Speaker 8: DJ Robbie drums. Now I'll tell you what makes a
- 56:42Speaker 8: musician's musician. It isn't the resume. The resume does matter,
- 56:47Speaker 8: and Rubbi has the kind of resume Hollywood lines up
- 56:49Speaker 8: to book Oscar stages with a R. Rahman FIFA Stadium
- 56:55Speaker 8: nights other percussionists put on their highlight reels for the
- 56:58Speaker 8: rest of their careers. The upside down drum set, the showmanship.
- 57:03Speaker 8: All of it is real and all of it is earned.
- 57:06Speaker 8: But that's not what makes him a musician's musician. What
- 57:10Speaker 8: makes him that is something almost nobody outside the room sees.
- 57:15Speaker 8: Robbie understands energy, not rhythm, not chops, not the technical
- 57:21Speaker 8: work other drummers compete on energy. He understands in a
- 57:25Speaker 8: moment isn't something a musician plays through. It's something a
- 57:29Speaker 8: musician carries, and his whole craft is carrying it without
- 57:33Speaker 8: asking you to look at him while he does it.
- 57:36Speaker 8: That's the part of this business, I'll tell you. Most
- 57:38Speaker 8: people in this position never get to a craftsman at
- 57:42Speaker 8: the very top of their game, who's selfless about the moment,
- 57:46Speaker 8: who will walk off the stage having made the right
- 57:49Speaker 8: memorable moment for you, not for him, who'll do that
- 57:53Speaker 8: night after night, year after year, and still make people
- 57:56Speaker 8: smile when the credit goes somewhere else that night. Rebby
- 58:00Speaker 8: is persevered in a business that doesn't always reward that
- 58:04Speaker 8: kind of grace. In my opinion, not enough people thank
- 58:07Speaker 8: him for what he brings to a moment. So I'm
- 58:10Speaker 8: gonna do that right here. Rabbi, Thank you brother for
- 58:13Speaker 8: the years, for the moments, for the energy you've carried
- 58:16Speaker 8: on everybody else's biggest nights. The musicians, musicians sat down
- 58:22Speaker 8: with me today. Go follow DJ Rubbi drums and his work.
- 58:27Speaker 8: And the next time a moment feels electric, you'll know
- 58:30Speaker 8: who to look for. I'll see them. Are everybody.
- 58:35Speaker 12: Greter?
- 58:39Speaker 4: Come good day?
- 58:40Speaker 1: They can departure to put.
