- 0:52Grab a plate, tune in now,
- 0:54you part of the family.
- 1:04It's lunch time.
- 1:09You have not accidentally muted yourself
- 1:11in quite some time.
- 1:12That was good.
- 1:12I didn't even hit the mute button, dude.
- 1:15Like StreamYard did that to me this time.
- 1:18StreamYard was like, shh,
- 1:20just let it happen.
- 1:23Man, lost all my momentum.
- 1:25I feel like it was just like a-
- 1:26It's a false start, dude.
- 1:28A four point five lunchtime today.
- 1:32The false starts are the worst.
- 1:34False starts are the worst.
- 1:35Like all into it and whatnot and you
- 1:37got to back up and do it again.
- 1:39Because it's like that Jim Carrey thing.
- 1:40Like I got to-
- 1:42before i get that lunch toy going right
- 1:45and then you like throw it out there
- 1:47and it's not the mic is muted and
- 1:50now i got now i'm doing it on
- 1:52half the air you gotta bring it up
- 1:54from the diaphragm big oh man it actually
- 1:59is taco thursday oh my gosh joseph was
- 2:02listening to our conversation before the
- 2:04show i didn't even know he had access
- 2:06i mean
- 2:09yes that's exactly actually what we're
- 2:10talking about my boy gonzo go give him
- 2:12a follow on instagram uh gonzo's barbecue
- 2:16it is i say don't give him a
- 2:17follow because you're just gonna eat your
- 2:18mouth watering and there's no way you can
- 2:20get there anyway he just posted a picture
- 2:23of all the stuff that they're they're
- 2:24tacos that they're rolling out today and
- 2:25it's absolutely insane oh but yeah it
- 2:28actually i'll go thursday
- 2:31were talking about beef cheek and uh how
- 2:33much corey loves it and the gluttony that
- 2:36he has done to himself in eating it
- 2:39i've never had a beef cheek bro you
- 2:43gotta come down here i've had a lot
- 2:45i've had a lot of different meats right
- 2:47i've had moose i've had elk i've had
- 2:49bear i've had all that stuff but i've
- 2:52never ever had a beef cheek
- 2:54which is insane because it's part of the
- 2:56cow.
- 2:56And I know you've had all the,
- 2:58all the parts of cow.
- 2:59Oh yeah.
- 3:00I'm like three quarter cow.
- 3:02Yeah.
- 3:02A hundred percent.
- 3:03I am too.
- 3:05But yeah, I was telling Scott,
- 3:07Gonzo sent me a sampler bladder one day
- 3:10with very strict instructions on how to
- 3:12warm everything up because it was all not
- 3:16Ziploc, but you know, vacuum sealed,
- 3:18vacuum sealed.
- 3:19Thank you.
- 3:20And then one of the things he sent
- 3:21was two beef cheeks,
- 3:22and I ate an entire beef cheek,
- 3:24and then I was completely ruined for the
- 3:26rest of the afternoon.
- 3:28I couldn't move up off the couch,
- 3:31just like basically a meat coma,
- 3:33which I don't know if you've ever
- 3:33experienced before, but it's a great,
- 3:37horrible thing to have.
- 3:39It was great in the moment,
- 3:41and then the rest of the afternoon was
- 3:43just me laying on the couch watching TV,
- 3:45hoping that I would feel good enough to
- 3:46move again sooner rather than later.
- 3:50Daniel Arnson, good to see you back,
- 3:52coaching in a new gym.
- 3:54I've been absent from the lives,
- 3:55but excited to make it today.
- 3:56Congratulations on the new gym.
- 3:59Yes, sir.
- 3:59I see later in the comments you say
- 4:00it's a wonderful place.
- 4:02I love when you get OG gyms.
- 4:06Yeah.
- 4:08OG gyms are the best gyms.
- 4:11Joy Perez.
- 4:13Meat sweats.
- 4:14Dude, it was terrible.
- 4:16I've had those.
- 4:17Yeah, a hundred percent.
- 4:18I haven't had a beef cheek,
- 4:19but I've had, I've had meat sweats.
- 4:22I've been to,
- 4:24we have a Brazilian steakhouse, you know,
- 4:27they bring you all the big.
- 4:30The saber full of luscious meat.
- 4:35two years ago texas day brazil it was
- 4:38two years ago and how long since we've
- 4:40been uh from my jennifer brought me for
- 4:43my birthday golly man i'll hurt myself
- 4:47like i will legitimately it's a twenty
- 4:51minute drive back to the house a minute
- 4:52drive to back back to the house maybe
- 4:54thirty minute drive back to house and the
- 4:55whole time i'm like fighting to stay awake
- 4:59that's how we get home oh man
- 5:05yeah i i really enjoy those but we
- 5:07actually just got one five minutes from
- 5:11the house it's expensive dude but god man
- 5:16it is i mean it's not something you
- 5:17do every week by any stretch of
- 5:18imagination but every now and again sure i
- 5:22would one thousand percent take it uh
- 5:26luscious was too far
- 5:28Have you been to a Brazilian steakhouse?
- 5:30Because the meat is luscious.
- 5:32The meat is luscious, Joey.
- 5:33I'm telling you, you're missing out,
- 5:35brother.
- 5:35You need to go catch one.
- 5:40First pocket jerky and now meat sweats.
- 5:43I almost went with pouch jerky today
- 5:46because I'm wearing a hoodie and I was
- 5:48going to slide the jerky into the pouch
- 5:51because that would be easier access than
- 5:52down into the pocket.
- 5:55Fair point.
- 5:56And I'm,
- 5:56my keys aren't in the way that way,
- 5:58as you pointed out yesterday.
- 6:02Reach it from my pocket jerky.
- 6:03Oh, I gotta get around my car keys.
- 6:05Hold on.
- 6:05Uh,
- 6:11my dog just stares at me when I
- 6:12dance to the opening.
- 6:13Yeah.
- 6:14Corey and I stare into each other's eyes.
- 6:16I say my dog, his name is Scott.
- 6:18We stare at each other at the same
- 6:20point.
- 6:22A lot of that going on.
- 6:23It's fantastic.
- 6:26If you all want meat sweats,
- 6:28go to the Fresh Coast Games in Muskegon
- 6:30and go to the deck.
- 6:31Jamie knows.
- 6:32Bend to the deck, Daniel Arnson.
- 6:37Good place, I'm assuming.
- 6:38It is very good.
- 6:39It's right on Lake Michigan.
- 6:42I ate on the rooftop thing, deck, bar,
- 6:47whatever it is.
- 6:47And you're overlooking Lake Michigan as
- 6:51you're chowing down.
- 6:53But it...
- 6:54standing out in the sun all day on
- 6:56the beach because the competition is held
- 6:58on the beach like not near the beach
- 7:02like literally you have to slog through
- 7:05the sand for everything and uh and it's
- 7:10a it's you need a cold beverage after
- 7:13anyway and so that's the perfect place to
- 7:15go
- 7:18I'm glad you clarified when you said on
- 7:20the roof.
- 7:21They didn't just make you climb a ladder.
- 7:26Look here, sir.
- 7:27Your table is going to be up there.
- 7:29There's not actually going to be a table.
- 7:29You're just going to have to sit on
- 7:30the edge of the roof and eat.
- 7:32We'll throw you your food whenever it's
- 7:33ready.
- 7:37Slide that jerky into the pouch for easier
- 7:39access.
- 7:40Clip it.
- 7:42uh pouch jerky uh like i said the
- 7:45other day this group needs therapy we are
- 7:47the therapy vicky thank you you said it
- 7:49before we are the thing this group is
- 7:51therapy uh we took our son to fogo
- 7:55brazilian steakhouse fogo de chow uh after
- 8:00wrestling season was over almost annually
- 8:02yeah it's it's really good well fogo de
- 8:06chow we got a texas day brazil and
- 8:08that place is fantastic
- 8:11tomato tomato oh yeah absolutely the
- 8:13little bread balls with the cheese inside
- 8:16and then the lobster bisque and like the
- 8:19various things that are on the salad bar
- 8:21that i tried to ignore but it gets
- 8:23really hard to because i just want i'm
- 8:24there for meat um there isn't a therapy
- 8:28strong enough for this group we are the
- 8:31therapy meg i say speak for yourself megan
- 8:36So I got some weird news yesterday.
- 8:38I love weird news.
- 8:41What do I love more than CrossFit?
- 8:42I love the Chicago Bears.
- 8:44The Chicago Bears, yeah.
- 8:46They're getting their own Hallmark special
- 8:47this year.
- 8:48Get out.
- 8:50Not kidding, man.
- 8:52They are doing a holiday Christmas special
- 8:57with the Bears.
- 9:01I cannot wait,
- 9:02and I'm going to admit it.
- 9:05Are they going to make it a double
- 9:07release with the Super Bowl shuffle and
- 9:10put that out at the same time?
- 9:11Like re-release the Super Bowl shuffle and
- 9:13put that out at the same time?
- 9:14I hope they incorporate the Super Bowl
- 9:16shuffle into the holiday special.
- 9:18If they do that, man,
- 9:19like I may just pass out.
- 9:24And I'll really lose my mind if Lacey
- 9:29Chabert is the star of it.
- 9:33I'm pretty sure if it's on the Hallmark
- 9:34Channel,
- 9:35she has to be the star of it.
- 9:39It's so funny.
- 9:39My mom and I do this joke.
- 9:41I always say, hey, is that Lacey Chabert?
- 9:44Is that Lacey Chabert?
- 9:45She's from Louisiana.
- 9:46You know that, right?
- 9:48I just know she's from Party of Five.
- 9:50Yeah, well, she's from Louisiana.
- 9:56Chabert.
- 9:56Yeah.
- 9:56That's funny, though.
- 9:57That was a strong female cast back in
- 9:59the day.
- 10:00Oh, yeah.
- 10:01Lacey Chabert.
- 10:03um jennifer love hewitt and the best one
- 10:06of them all um oh oh you you
- 10:14you already said the best one of them
- 10:15all you said jennifer love you and done
- 10:18see i like the other one um oh
- 10:22shoot she was in the rock movie st
- 10:25andreas
- 10:27Oh.
- 10:27She was the wife.
- 10:29Yes.
- 10:30I stand corrected.
- 10:31That is the best one.
- 10:33Neve Campbell.
- 10:34Neve Campbell.
- 10:34Neve Campbell.
- 10:35Thank you, Andrew Sten.
- 10:36Neve Campbell.
- 10:37Thank you, Andrew Sten.
- 10:40Yep.
- 10:40Strong female cast back in the day.
- 10:43Yep.
- 10:45Candice from Full House.
- 10:47Yes.
- 10:49Candice Cameron.
- 10:51Yes.
- 10:53I'm not as big a fan of hers
- 10:55as I am of Lacey Chabert.
- 10:58So if you want to see one of
- 11:01twenty seven movies starring Lacey
- 11:03Chabert,
- 11:03all you need to do is turn on
- 11:05the Hallmark Channel at any given time of
- 11:07the day.
- 11:09You know,
- 11:09she's just like she's sleeping on money.
- 11:12Is she like is she?
- 11:16She's in all the Hallmark movies, dude.
- 11:18They came to her one day and they're
- 11:19like, hey.
- 11:20do you want to make every movie?
- 11:22You want to be the female lead in
- 11:23every movie we make for the next fifteen
- 11:25years?
- 11:25And she's like, sure.
- 11:27And we'll pay you all the dollars.
- 11:29We'll give you so many dollars.
- 11:31We'll give you a stake in the company.
- 11:32You can direct some of them if you'd
- 11:33like.
- 11:35We don't care.
- 11:36We just need you.
- 11:39Yeah.
- 11:40Bet you never thought we'd be talking
- 11:42about Hallmark movies on this channel
- 11:43today.
- 11:44I can pretty much promise you I did
- 11:45not.
- 11:46This was not on my bingo card for
- 11:47today.
- 11:49So did you see the Lydia Fish interview
- 11:51with Dave?
- 11:53Negative.
- 11:54Or the clip that CrossFit Network or CF
- 11:58Network put out,
- 12:00where Lydia asked Dave how much history is
- 12:08involved with this year's games.
- 12:10I caught a part of that,
- 12:12but it's been a hectic morning and day,
- 12:15so no, I did not.
- 12:17And he basically said everything.
- 12:20There are going to be straight repeats.
- 12:22There are going to be things that look
- 12:24familiar.
- 12:25There are going to be elements and fan
- 12:32favorites that are pulled.
- 12:34Things that are influencing what they do
- 12:37today.
- 12:37Pretty much everything.
- 12:39Softball throw.
- 12:42Yep.
- 12:43I'm going to ride that train until the
- 12:45games is actually over.
- 12:46They're going to be on.
- 12:48All right.
- 12:48And get ready for event twenty.
- 12:49I'm going to be sitting at home going
- 12:51softball through softball through.
- 12:53Actually, I won't be at home.
- 12:54I'll be at monster games.
- 12:56But whatever.
- 12:56Same thing.
- 12:58Yeah.
- 12:59Yeah.
- 13:00So that was that was kind of breaking
- 13:02news.
- 13:03OK.
- 13:05I guess I think we all thought.
- 13:09So let me.
- 13:12Yeah.
- 13:12Train says,
- 13:13let's switch that to a football throw.
- 13:14Football throw.
- 13:15Tyson Bajan's coming in for the games.
- 13:18Let's make it a football throw.
- 13:19We swapped it up.
- 13:21We swapped it up.
- 13:22Tyson Bajan introducing the football
- 13:28throw, event eleven.
- 13:30He will throw the ball.
- 13:31If any athlete can beat him,
- 13:34they get a hundred points.
- 13:36Closest to beating him without going over.
- 13:38They'll do it price-wise, though.
- 13:40Yeah,
- 13:41because ain't nobody throwing as far as
- 13:42he's going to throw.
- 13:43No.
- 13:47So I'm going to go out of order
- 13:50what I have here.
- 13:50So with that,
- 13:53do you think this is Dave's last year?
- 13:55No.
- 13:58I do like the fact that he's like
- 13:59talking it up and like making people think
- 14:00that, you know,
- 14:01because as soon as somebody asked him, oh,
- 14:03you know, who do you think you put?
- 14:05Boz.
- 14:06He just throws that out there,
- 14:07which to be fair,
- 14:08Boz already did it once.
- 14:11he's had a lot of say in a
- 14:12lot of the programming he's programmed for
- 14:14the teams he's programmed for the like
- 14:16he's done a whole lot of it and
- 14:17he would be the natural uh the natural
- 14:20next choice i just don't see without
- 14:25somebody actually telling dave to get bent
- 14:27and hit the road jack i don't see
- 14:29him actually just okay i'm just not doing
- 14:31this anymore
- 14:33So he has said in the past open
- 14:36to being wrong.
- 14:38He has said in the past that his
- 14:41original plan was to go for twenty and
- 14:43then hang it up.
- 14:45Okay.
- 14:45Well, here we are.
- 14:46However, he's only done nineteen.
- 14:48I know.
- 14:50I know.
- 14:50But it just we have a new CEO
- 14:52who wants to change focus.
- 14:54He wants to to get more laser focused,
- 14:58get back to an educational company and a
- 15:00media company.
- 15:03maybe he wants Dave in another spot.
- 15:06I mean, Dave's already in,
- 15:09like his title is not just games director.
- 15:12He's also in education.
- 15:13He's also in something else.
- 15:15I saw it the other day.
- 15:16He's got like three things in his title.
- 15:18So maybe he does.
- 15:19And maybe Bruce thinks he'd be better
- 15:24utilized somewhere else.
- 15:26If that's the case, then cool.
- 15:27I'm all for that.
- 15:29Again, so long as it's in good hands.
- 15:31And I think we would be in good
- 15:32hands with Boz.
- 15:33I enjoyed Boz's games.
- 15:36Yeah, he actually said also in,
- 15:42was it the Alex Kazan video,
- 15:45that Boz is pretty much coming up with
- 15:49the format of the hopper.
- 15:52There you go.
- 15:53He's in charge of that.
- 15:56Boz took a sandbag to shoulder and made
- 16:00it one of the most compelling events,
- 16:03exciting to watch events at the games I've
- 16:06ever seen.
- 16:07I was just fighting with a sandbag to
- 16:09get it to their shoulder.
- 16:11I think that may have been the biggest
- 16:12shift in attitude for an event from paper
- 16:18to reality that we've ever had in the
- 16:19CrossFit Games.
- 16:21Absolutely.
- 16:23Because everybody was dogging.
- 16:25You're talking a sandbag clean for the
- 16:27strength event?
- 16:28And then when they brought out the big
- 16:31one, he said, bring it out.
- 16:34And they rolled out that,
- 16:37I forget how much it was, a lot.
- 16:39I know that it was heavy.
- 16:41That was amazing in and of itself.
- 16:44And what people miss about that is,
- 16:47The tiebreaker was just as exciting as the
- 16:50event.
- 16:51The throwing of three different size
- 16:53sandbags over the yoke.
- 16:55And which one are you going to pick
- 16:57first?
- 16:57Are you going to go with the heavy
- 16:58one first down to light?
- 16:59You can go with light down to heavy.
- 17:02was compelling to watch the entire thing
- 17:04what i watched it from the minute it
- 17:06started until the minute it finished
- 17:08everybody was covered in chalk all their
- 17:11shirts and whatnot to try to get some
- 17:13grip um in all my time in madison
- 17:17that is the loudest the arena ever got
- 17:20in madison was who was it was it
- 17:25um
- 17:28Was it Fikowski or was it Cole Sager
- 17:32that like fought with it for like some
- 17:36like thirty five,
- 17:37forty seconds or something like that?
- 17:40Just trying to like get in it from
- 17:41all the way up to his lap and
- 17:42trying to, you know,
- 17:43you remember what I talk about?
- 17:44I don't know who it was,
- 17:45but I don't remember either.
- 17:47I think Brent,
- 17:48it was Fikowski and just kept because he
- 17:51had a long way to pull that up
- 17:52to the clean.
- 17:53Yeah, and just was... And then finally,
- 17:57that was amazing.
- 17:59Yeah.
- 18:00And he was one of those tall guys.
- 18:03The tiebreaker was sick.
- 18:04Tiebreaker was sick.
- 18:09Tessa thinks Dave's out.
- 18:11He might be.
- 18:12Amanda says,
- 18:13sometimes it's better to go out on a
- 18:14high as well.
- 18:15Hey.
- 18:18What is it?
- 18:18Live fast, die young?
- 18:20Live pretty cool?
- 18:20Mm-hmm.
- 18:22Go out on a high, dude.
- 18:23Like, I mean...
- 18:26If this game ends up being his magnum
- 18:29opus, right,
- 18:30where it's like the best thing he's ever
- 18:32done and it's compelling and all that
- 18:33other good stuff.
- 18:35Dude's bringing Latin to the conversation
- 18:37now.
- 18:37I don't know what to do.
- 18:40I just think I'm a dumbass coonass.
- 18:42I mean, I am.
- 18:44But if it ends up being his ultimate
- 18:47masterpiece and people are saying it might
- 18:52be just from the amount of events and
- 18:53the things that he's promising and the
- 18:55things that
- 18:56Davis rarely over-promised and
- 18:59under-delivered.
- 19:02Rarely.
- 19:03It's happened.
- 19:04It hasn't happened,
- 19:05but it's rarely that it's been that he's
- 19:07said, hey,
- 19:08this is going to be effing cool,
- 19:10and it wasn't.
- 19:12So if this is his big, you know,
- 19:16farewell or whatnot, it's not farewell.
- 19:17I mean,
- 19:17he's going to be two offices down for
- 19:20all intents and purposes.
- 19:22Good.
- 19:23You know, awesome.
- 19:24And then we'll go into the Boz era.
- 19:30Mark Phillips says the timing is right for
- 19:31him to step back or out.
- 19:35At the beginning of the season,
- 19:36I would have told you absolutely not.
- 19:39The more I listen to him with the
- 19:40athletes,
- 19:41the more I have a slight lean to
- 19:44this is it.
- 19:45Yeah.
- 19:46I'm not fully committed to this is it,
- 19:49but I'm not a slight lean to this
- 19:51is it.
- 19:52I'm not either.
- 19:53Um,
- 19:57Maybe it is.
- 19:58Maybe it's not.
- 19:59I do not like making those kind of
- 20:02predictions because I'm never right.
- 20:04Like I am batting a thousand on never
- 20:08nailing it down.
- 20:11So much the better.
- 20:12If it is and he goes out with
- 20:13a bang, awesome.
- 20:15And if not and we get him again
- 20:16next year, cool.
- 20:18Even better.
- 20:20It would be a big bang way to
- 20:21go out and let Boz build his own
- 20:22legacy from a quieter start.
- 20:25Yeah.
- 20:27so i'm going to preface this next part
- 20:31with third c had me sleeping so well
- 20:37in these last few weeks that every night
- 20:39i wake up at two a.m to pee
- 20:42because i'm old right and i wake up
- 20:46with these epiphanies because the sleep
- 20:49i'm getting is so deep from third c
- 20:53Now,
- 20:53I'm not claiming everybody's going to have
- 20:54epiphanies just because they're doing
- 20:57Thursday, but I am.
- 20:58Man,
- 20:59if only there was a discount code you
- 21:01could use for Thursday.
- 21:05That would get you like jazzy percent off
- 21:07jazzy, fifteen percent off, man.
- 21:10And or you can go to Thursday dot
- 21:12com backslash jazzy and automatically get
- 21:15the fifteen percent applied.
- 21:17That is amazing.
- 21:18What a coincidence.
- 21:21The trouble with this epiphany is I'm
- 21:23sleeping so deep I wake up with an
- 21:25epiphany.
- 21:26I ain't lying.
- 21:27This is not like for commercial.
- 21:29This is true.
- 21:31Wake up.
- 21:32I have the epiphany.
- 21:34I try not to open my eyes.
- 21:36I try to go to the bathroom and
- 21:37back without opening my eyes because I
- 21:40want to go right back to that deep
- 21:41sleep.
- 21:42Sure.
- 21:43But if I've had the epiphany and I
- 21:44go right back to the deep sleep,
- 21:46it's gone.
- 21:49So,
- 21:51last night had the epiphany of how to
- 21:54fix the CrossFit Games.
- 21:57Did you write it down?
- 21:59Grab my phone, open up notes,
- 22:01a couple little things just to remind me
- 22:05of what I had come up with in
- 22:08my sleep.
- 22:09Sure.
- 22:10Using Thirdsy.
- 22:12And then Julie go,
- 22:13what the hell are you doing?
- 22:17Went to bed, woke up, opened up notes.
- 22:19Hey, I remember it all.
- 22:23Now,
- 22:24this fix of the CrossFit Games is radical.
- 22:30Ladies and gentlemen, it is radical.
- 22:33Radical.
- 22:35Now,
- 22:37I want this twentieth year to be awesome
- 22:40and grandiose and big and do all the
- 22:43stuff, right?
- 22:44Sure.
- 22:46so this is for the first crossfit games
- 22:49and beyond what are some of the pitfalls
- 22:53of the current games the season itself i'm
- 22:57i'm saying the the games right now i'm
- 23:00just talking about the games okay it is
- 23:03a full weekend yep it is full days
- 23:06of the entire weekend sure and it's a
- 23:11lot of time to commit
- 23:13in the middle of summer to watching the
- 23:15CrossFit Games.
- 23:18Especially when it starts on a Wednesday.
- 23:22So,
- 23:23and you might have it in a cool
- 23:25place like San Jose.
- 23:27And hey,
- 23:28I want to go to San Jose.
- 23:29I don't go to California,
- 23:31but once in my life,
- 23:32maybe I want to go see the Golden
- 23:34Gate Bridge,
- 23:34but I can't leave the venue if I
- 23:36want to see all the games.
- 23:39Right?
- 23:40Sure.
- 23:41So here we go.
- 23:44People aren't going to like this,
- 23:45but it would work.
- 23:48Keep an open mind, folks.
- 23:50Only ten people make the games.
- 23:56Ten men, ten women.
- 23:59Let's think about this.
- 24:00Every other championship, the Olympics,
- 24:04what do they show on NBC at night
- 24:07for the Olympics?
- 24:09Yeah.
- 24:10One heat.
- 24:11One heat for the Olympic champion.
- 24:18When we go to the championships of
- 24:20CrossFit, it's three heats,
- 24:24which makes it super, super long.
- 24:31Now, so now you condense the viewing time,
- 24:36and most events would be less than a
- 24:38half an hour.
- 24:41So you could put the half-hour broadcasts
- 24:44up on YouTube or whatever.
- 24:48Maybe ESPN wants half-hour things now,
- 24:50right?
- 24:52Much easier to digest,
- 24:54much easier to grab and watch,
- 24:56much easier to sell to other companies to
- 24:59use to fill the time.
- 25:06And yes, Judy Reed, like the finals.
- 25:08This is the finals of the season.
- 25:10The best of the best make it to
- 25:12the CrossFit Games.
- 25:18But we now have to actually have a
- 25:20season that makes sense to get us there.
- 25:23I was about to say that.
- 25:26Right?
- 25:28The season has to be done in a
- 25:29way where you funnel it down to those
- 25:32ten athletes that go to the games.
- 25:35I'm about to say that that was my
- 25:39initial thought.
- 25:40As soon as you said that,
- 25:41is that you're going to have to...
- 25:45The route to get to that top ten
- 25:47has got to be a lot better.
- 25:49A lot better.
- 25:50Mark Phillips says,
- 25:51the Dark Horse story has shrunken quite a
- 25:53bit.
- 25:53You think?
- 25:54Because last time I checked...
- 25:56The College March Madness starts with
- 25:59sixty eight teams.
- 26:02Sixty four.
- 26:04The championship game is played with two.
- 26:07And along that path,
- 26:09there are tons of dark horses that emerge.
- 26:19You need to make it a viewable,
- 26:21watchable experience.
- 26:24sitting through six heats of the same
- 26:26event is hard.
- 26:32How many of you open up YouTube and
- 26:35fast forward to the final heat of every
- 26:37event?
- 26:38I don't, but I'm that dude.
- 26:42I don't either, but I'm a nerd.
- 26:45This isn't the games for Scott and Corey.
- 26:48This is the games for more widespread
- 26:50people.
- 26:58I think it's the only way to make
- 27:00the sport survive.
- 27:02Now,
- 27:03if you want to take this affiliate idea
- 27:07and have a bunch of little live regionals
- 27:12and hold competitions to get you to the
- 27:16finals...
- 27:20or you have the bunch of call it
- 27:22quarterfinals at the affiliates,
- 27:25and then you do do an online competition
- 27:28for semifinals,
- 27:29but only thirty people make it.
- 27:32So now you can video review all thirty
- 27:35videos of every event.
- 27:45So your prize pool for the athletes is
- 27:47now down some.
- 27:49The prize pool is coming down anyway.
- 27:50Where are they going to have the money
- 27:52to pay out that much?
- 27:54We have five sponsors at a semifinal.
- 27:57Well,
- 27:58if it's based on open registration and
- 28:00then quarterfinals registration and
- 28:03semifinals registration and all that good
- 28:05stuff is going towards the prize pool for
- 28:07the athletes and you're drastically
- 28:09cutting that down.
- 28:11Prize pool is just the open.
- 28:12Okay.
- 28:15That's what it is currently.
- 28:17Okay.
- 28:17No, good.
- 28:18I didn't know.
- 28:20I would have assumed it would have also
- 28:22gone from quarterfinals and then from
- 28:24semifinals.
- 28:27If you look at the formula in the
- 28:28rulebook,
- 28:29it is fifty percent of the open
- 28:32registrations go to fund the game's
- 28:35payouts.
- 28:36And that's that's not just the elite.
- 28:38That's elite masters.
- 28:39Yeah, that's what I did know.
- 28:42uh this right here uh more phillips i
- 28:44am with you though but every stage has
- 28:46to be consumable not just the end
- 28:47otherwise the story is lost yes which
- 28:50we've been saying that anyway as far as
- 28:54that part of it's concerned we've been
- 28:55saying that anyway because it the story
- 28:58gets lost especially when there's less on
- 29:01the line because if you don't make it
- 29:03here you can make it somewhere else i
- 29:07don't fast forward i do laundry
- 29:10same premise same premise i disagree with
- 29:17this idea but we can fight it about
- 29:18it via text before tomorrow's show like
- 29:21five minutes before vicky thirty seconds
- 29:25whatever same thing uh y'all need a live
- 29:30call in number i would be dropping heavy
- 29:32truth right now
- 29:33Yeah, I switched out my mixer,
- 29:35so I've got to figure out how to
- 29:36hook up this phone.
- 29:37We used to have one, Daniel,
- 29:40when I had the Rodecaster.
- 29:42I could Bluetooth my phone in.
- 29:44It still saves in my phone.
- 29:50I would argue that as far as the
- 29:52door course is concerned,
- 29:53is that now your door course is who's
- 29:55probably going to actually make the top
- 29:57ten.
- 29:58Not necessarily who's going to win.
- 30:03as far as that kind of stuff is
- 30:04concerned.
- 30:04So that instead of being it,
- 30:06who's the door course of the games,
- 30:08it's going to be the door course of
- 30:09who's actually going to make it,
- 30:10which is why the rest of the season
- 30:12has to be more compelling to follow.
- 30:16People simply do not care to watch
- 30:17competitive fitness,
- 30:18no matter what the format presentation.
- 30:20Aside from the people who do.
- 30:22That's a ridiculous statement of ours.
- 30:25And last time I checked,
- 30:27what is that show on Netflix that gets
- 30:30the one hundred, the fittest one hundred,
- 30:31the
- 30:32Yeah.
- 30:33I forget what it's called.
- 30:34I mean,
- 30:34they're expanding it to all these
- 30:36different countries because so many people
- 30:38are watching it.
- 30:39Because it's in a consumable format.
- 30:43I mean,
- 30:44even the other shows that were like that,
- 30:45the one that...
- 30:48That Danny won and the one that...
- 30:51What was those?
- 30:52The thing that The Rock was involved in?
- 30:54Where they competed against whoever?
- 30:57Titan Games.
- 30:58Yes, Titan Games.
- 31:00That was fun to watch.
- 31:01It was kind of silly,
- 31:03but it was fun to watch.
- 31:04A little over the top,
- 31:06but it was fun to watch.
- 31:09People who care about it care about it.
- 31:11Everybody likes different things.
- 31:12There's eight billion people on the
- 31:13planet.
- 31:14People are going to watch it.
- 31:15People watch the games.
- 31:17People who don't necessarily do
- 31:19competitive fitness watch the games.
- 31:26Elwin,
- 31:27the type of content CrossFit put out with
- 31:28Zlatan this week is more helpful than the
- 31:31games, in my opinion.
- 31:31More of that, please.
- 31:33It may be more helpful.
- 31:36but that's it's a different thing yeah
- 31:38we're not hit that's not what we're trying
- 31:39to say it's a different thing i don't
- 31:42disagree with this i am so glad they
- 31:44finally leaned into zlatan because he's a
- 31:47he's lot if you know anything about soccer
- 31:51like the dudes everywhere he's been on
- 31:54every team he's competed and won at almost
- 31:56every level um and he is all ego
- 32:00it is fun to watch because he refers
- 32:03to himself in the third person most of
- 32:04the time
- 32:06And he is an incredible player.
- 32:09And the fact that he does CrossFit and
- 32:11he said that's the only thing that he
- 32:12suffers from.
- 32:15And the fact that they finally leaned into
- 32:16him because a lot of us, myself included,
- 32:19have been tagging CrossFit saying, hey,
- 32:21you should reach out to this dude.
- 32:23So that's amazing for that.
- 32:31I don't, again, I don't, Corey,
- 32:33our passion for competitive fitness does
- 32:34not traverse the masses.
- 32:36If enough people watched it, it would,
- 32:38we would not be looking for answers.
- 32:40That's like saying,
- 32:42if I make a pot of chili that
- 32:44tastes like shit, but I like chili,
- 32:49it doesn't traverse them.
- 32:50No, I need to improve the chili.
- 32:52Yeah.
- 32:56It needs to be better.
- 32:58It's always needed to be better.
- 33:00Even when it was on ESPN,
- 33:01it needed to be better.
- 33:03It needs to be consumable.
- 33:05And right now,
- 33:05it's too big of a chunk.
- 33:08It's too big of a time commitment for
- 33:10a televised sport.
- 33:13Well, it's on YouTube.
- 33:16I watch F-One because it's a ninety-minute
- 33:19commitment every couple weeks.
- 33:22And then I'm done.
- 33:23I move on with my day and my
- 33:25weekend.
- 33:28Yeah.
- 33:32What Mark's saying right there.
- 33:34That's why we want to change the format
- 33:35to be consumable.
- 33:36Someone who doesn't understand it should
- 33:38be able to know what's going on and
- 33:40get invested.
- 33:41Yes.
- 33:44You should be able to.
- 33:45And look, I will say this.
- 33:46The first time I can remember,
- 33:50because it struck me because I was trying
- 33:51to figure out what was going on.
- 33:54when the games were on ESPN and it
- 33:56had to have been like the snatch ladder,
- 34:00like the speed snatch ladder or whatnot,
- 34:01because I remember seeing it.
- 34:02I was at a restaurant and it was
- 34:04on the TV, right?
- 34:06And I remember looking and going,
- 34:08what in the hell are they doing?
- 34:10Like trying to figure it out.
- 34:12I just saw a bunch of barbells.
- 34:13I had no idea what a snatch was
- 34:14at the time and that kind of stuff.
- 34:16But it looked cool.
- 34:19It looked cool.
- 34:20I had no idea what was going on.
- 34:22And it's consumable.
- 34:24And like an event like that only takes,
- 34:27if you only had ten athletes,
- 34:29like that speed ladder would be done in
- 34:32five minutes and you could do some
- 34:34explanation around it so that people
- 34:36understood what was trying to be
- 34:38accomplished.
- 34:41Yeah.
- 34:41Right?
- 34:42Like it lends itself to,
- 34:44like if I do tune into an F-one
- 34:46race on a Sunday, right,
- 34:48there is a two-hour pregame to that ninety
- 34:51minutes I want to commit to.
- 34:55explaining what the engine thing is like.
- 34:58And that's not as far in as I
- 35:01am, right?
- 35:02So I can choose to watch that part
- 35:03or not.
- 35:06And I think it was Vicky that said,
- 35:09what if you don't want chili?
- 35:10Well,
- 35:10then we're not here for you at all.
- 35:14No.
- 35:14There are people that don't like football,
- 35:16but there's a billion people who do.
- 35:19I have not watched a single minute of
- 35:21the World Cup
- 35:24but there are a shit ton of people
- 35:26watching the world cup every day.
- 35:27I'm one of them.
- 35:30Right.
- 35:30Like, and I don't,
- 35:35I'm not mad at the world cup watchers.
- 35:37Go do your thing.
- 35:38Love your event.
- 35:39A lot of people aren't going to watch
- 35:40F one.
- 35:42Doesn't take away from my enjoyment.
- 35:43Yeah.
- 35:46And I think what Craig's saying is what
- 35:48we're trying to get across.
- 35:49People watch all the type of activities
- 35:51and sports on TV, poker, bowling,
- 35:54et cetera.
- 35:55And if it's done,
- 35:56if it's viewable and watchable,
- 35:58it's entertaining.
- 35:59I will accidentally get caught up watching
- 36:01people play poker,
- 36:03which is batshit crazy because I have no
- 36:07stake in the game.
- 36:08I do not care who wins.
- 36:11It's poker.
- 36:11They're sitting there playing poker.
- 36:15And I will watch that.
- 36:16I have watched, dude, curling?
- 36:18Don't even get me started on curling,
- 36:19Mark.
- 36:22Every winter Olympics,
- 36:24every winter Olympics,
- 36:26me and the wife watch curling.
- 36:28I've never done curling in my entire life.
- 36:30I live in South Louisiana.
- 36:31There's nothing frozen enough around here
- 36:33for me to do curling on.
- 36:35I watch curling every single year because
- 36:38it's fun to watch.
- 36:40It's silly.
- 36:41I don't understand it.
- 36:42The brooms, the sweeping, the whatever.
- 36:45But I'll watch it.
- 36:46Yep.
- 36:47They make it viewable.
- 36:51Make it eleven, Scott.
- 36:52The eleventh person is the average
- 36:54CrossFit athlete for scale.
- 36:55Nobody wants to see me out there throwing
- 36:58a ball with Caleb Williams.
- 37:00I do.
- 37:03I have been behind this idea for the
- 37:05longest time.
- 37:06I think they ought to do it at
- 37:07the Olympics.
- 37:09I think they ought to do it at
- 37:10the CrossFit Games.
- 37:11And look, at the CrossFit Games,
- 37:13you could just pull somebody out of the
- 37:14crowd, right?
- 37:16Fittest crowd on earth.
- 37:17Look up there, and there's Daniel Aronson.
- 37:20Hey, come on down.
- 37:22You're in lane eleven.
- 37:25Let's go.
- 37:25You got ten minutes to get warmed up.
- 37:28I would love to see that.
- 37:30i think that honestly for people that have
- 37:33never seen it before and they just they
- 37:35show you hey look we just pulled freaking
- 37:38uh you know we just pulled sean out
- 37:41of the out of the crowd he was
- 37:43literally sitting up there five minutes
- 37:44ago he's getting warmed up and he's going
- 37:46to go against these guys so you can
- 37:48understand how good these dudes actually
- 37:50are that would be that would be compelling
- 37:54to watch i kind of i'm with i'm
- 37:58in the mark phillips camp
- 38:00It breaks the illusion.
- 38:01Right now, people watching go, hell,
- 38:03I could do that.
- 38:04We got a dude that just started at
- 38:05the gym three months ago.
- 38:09That's like right at,
- 38:11he's right at thirty, something like that.
- 38:14CrossFit Games, twenty, twenty-seven.
- 38:15He already said he's going.
- 38:17I mean, why not?
- 38:18I mean, I could go.
- 38:19He's like, hmm, can you?
- 38:21Yeah, I do think that there is some
- 38:27And that's what does drive people to the
- 38:29affiliates.
- 38:30If you're going to get that push at
- 38:32all,
- 38:32it's the fact that people think I'm going
- 38:36to the twenty twenty eight CrossFit Games.
- 38:38All I have to do is go to
- 38:39an affiliate and start working out.
- 38:41It's got I've been here three months.
- 38:43My first butterfly pull up.
- 38:45We had ten people that thought they were
- 38:47going to the games.
- 38:49Then I switched to CrossFit players,
- 38:51watched Christy Aramo in one workout and
- 38:53said, nope,
- 38:54none of them are going to the CrossFit
- 38:55Games.
- 38:56If you've never actually worked out with
- 38:58or anywhere near actual elite athletes,
- 39:01it's an eye-opening experience.
- 39:05I've had the privilege to do that several
- 39:07different times.
- 39:08And when I tell you there's levels to
- 39:09it,
- 39:10there are one hundred percent levels to
- 39:12it.
- 39:16Even if you only do one heat,
- 39:18the games run three to five days with
- 39:20events throughout each day.
- 39:20Nobody can sit down and watch.
- 39:23And very few coming back all day over
- 39:25three to five days.
- 39:26Avery, you are very negative.
- 39:30My true belief on this is,
- 39:34and the big plan,
- 39:37is it shouldn't be live broadcast.
- 39:39We're not there yet.
- 39:41All of this should be done
- 39:44And recorded by a Netflix or a Paramount
- 39:48or whatever.
- 39:50And released as half-hour episodes.
- 39:57So now, if you've ever seen...
- 39:59Hell of a lot of NDAs.
- 40:02Yeah, if you've ever seen,
- 40:04in which that's not done with NDAs,
- 40:06but we were at the Bowling Alley last
- 40:09year sometime,
- 40:10and they had on one of the random
- 40:12CBS sports stations,
- 40:15and the Rogue Invitational was on.
- 40:18they were showing different events from
- 40:19the rogue invitation it wasn't live it had
- 40:21already happened like i already knew most
- 40:22of what was going on but it was
- 40:25being rebroadcast on cbs i think it was
- 40:28on cbs um and it was it was
- 40:31cool like you got to see some of
- 40:33the strongman stuff you got to see some
- 40:35of the crossfit stuff whatnot they just
- 40:36were showing like i said it was it
- 40:38was a show about the rogue invitation
- 40:41and they were just they were running
- 40:43different you know showing different parts
- 40:44from different events that was pretty cool
- 40:46and that was all post-production stuff i
- 40:48mean it definitely was not live because
- 40:50it's not being broadcast on cbs but um
- 40:53so rogue is broadcast on cbs i believe
- 40:58like a simulcast like at the same time
- 41:00but not like the main if not the
- 41:04main affiliate like cbs new york or cbs
- 41:07columbus yeah no this was on cbs whatever
- 41:10I think part of it is broadcast on
- 41:13like the CBS sports network.
- 41:15Yeah.
- 41:16Or like their web thing.
- 41:23I think here's my problem of error right
- 41:25now.
- 41:26And listen,
- 41:27I love comments and I love responding to
- 41:29comments is I don't want to give up.
- 41:34I don't want to give up yet.
- 41:36I think there are things that have not
- 41:37been tried yet.
- 41:40So to just look at one iteration and
- 41:43one attempt at what the CrossFit Games
- 41:46could be and either it passes or fails
- 41:51is not in my notebook.
- 41:53My notebook is, okay, let's tweak this.
- 41:57And there's been a shitload of tweaks over
- 41:59the years, right?
- 42:01But always with the same kind of general
- 42:04format.
- 42:06I think the only way to get it
- 42:07to truly make sense is to do a
- 42:10complete overhaul.
- 42:16They've never seemed to try...
- 42:22It's always different variations,
- 42:25like you said, of the same format.
- 42:29And so your F-one example actually makes a
- 42:32lot of sense to me because...
- 42:34they'll get on right it's it's uh you
- 42:39know whoever's commentating it's it's bill
- 42:41and or not bill chasing and adrian
- 42:44whatever and that's the first two people
- 42:46they show and hey welcome to the twenty
- 42:48twenty six crossfit games blah blah blah
- 42:49whatever and instead of just saying and
- 42:54here's the first event and it's you know
- 42:56twenty one fifteen nine blah blah whatever
- 43:00If you're watching the F-One show,
- 43:01they're talking about building the motor.
- 43:03They're talking about what happened last
- 43:06year or whatever else.
- 43:08You get very little of that from the
- 43:10broadcast.
- 43:10You get very little of,
- 43:12and if you don't know what a thruster
- 43:14is, here we go.
- 43:16You get none of that now.
- 43:18You get none of that.
- 43:19It's just, and it's because,
- 43:22and I think it's because, anyway,
- 43:23I'm not going to say it is or
- 43:24it isn't,
- 43:24but I'm going to say I think it's
- 43:25because they know who they're broadcasting
- 43:27to, and they're figuring,
- 43:29like old girl said, it's just a thruster,
- 43:32and you know what that is.
- 43:34Instead of, hey,
- 43:37dumb it down a little bit.
- 43:39It'll be okay.
- 43:42Give us more than what we're asking for.
- 43:44here's what f-one does if i go to
- 43:46apple tv i can watch the race live
- 43:49after it's over it's sitting there
- 43:51recorded i can watch it recorded and fast
- 43:53forward rewind to whatever i want and then
- 43:56they make a post edited cut down version
- 44:00of the race
- 44:02Like a highlight.
- 44:04That's what I was watching.
- 44:05That's what was on in the bowling alley
- 44:06that day was, like I said,
- 44:09it wasn't all the heat by any stretch
- 44:10of the imagination.
- 44:12They would play one or maybe two,
- 44:14and then they'd go to commercial,
- 44:15and they'd come back,
- 44:16and then maybe you'd see a strongman event
- 44:18or whatever.
- 44:21Dan McCoy, it's just a thruster.
- 44:23And you know what that is.
- 44:26Yeah, I know what that is.
- 44:28If I made the games next year and
- 44:30my mom was watching the broadcast,
- 44:32she has absolutely no idea what that is.
- 44:38Period.
- 44:39They should do a week-long think tank type
- 44:41thing with people inside and outside of HQ
- 44:43to brainstorm deeper than people throwing
- 44:46darts at a wall.
- 44:48Yeah.
- 44:49Or listening to the vocal minority.
- 44:52But...
- 44:55Two things that are never going to happen.
- 44:57Number one,
- 44:58them not listening to the vocal minority
- 45:00because that's been going on for a very
- 45:03long time now.
- 45:04Years upon years upon years.
- 45:06The second thing that's never going to
- 45:08happen is them asking for outside help and
- 45:11then actually listening to the outside
- 45:13help.
- 45:15Also not going to happen.
- 45:18We don't know what the new CEO is
- 45:19going to do.
- 45:20I was about to say,
- 45:21maybe not at Bruises & George.
- 45:23Maybe we'll get a little bit of that.
- 45:25But historically, it hasn't happened.
- 45:32And the reason this idea came to me,
- 45:35other than my thirdsy,
- 45:36was that the new CEO has already said
- 45:40that the focus is going to be on
- 45:42becoming a training and media company with
- 45:45focus on the affiliates.
- 45:48And so that means that we are going
- 45:53to get a reduced version of what the
- 45:54CrossFit Games are going forward,
- 45:57in my opinion,
- 45:58until it can prove that it is financially
- 46:01sustainable.
- 46:02Are you going to get an altered version
- 46:04of it?
- 46:05That's what I'm saying.
- 46:06We already know we're going to get
- 46:08something a little bit different.
- 46:11Why not just completely overhaul it and
- 46:14make it something that is consumable?
- 46:17I was going to say,
- 46:18we know we're going to get something
- 46:18different because we've gotten something
- 46:20different every year for the past twenty
- 46:23years.
- 46:25If there's one thing that they're really,
- 46:26really good at,
- 46:28it's doing something different every
- 46:30single year.
- 46:31Because the way to get to the games
- 46:32last year is not the same way to
- 46:34get to the games this year.
- 46:35And it wasn't the year before that.
- 46:36Those little tweaks just aren't going to
- 46:38do it.
- 46:39It's still the same thing.
- 46:43And honestly, like, if you're...
- 46:50I am deathly afraid that it's just going
- 46:53to go away and shrivel up and die.
- 46:56As a sport,
- 46:58I think the gyms will stay around.
- 47:00CrossFit as a methodology will be here for
- 47:03a very long time.
- 47:06But I think the sport,
- 47:08as we know it,
- 47:10is going to die anyway.
- 47:12So why not go out swinging and try
- 47:14something different?
- 47:17I don't know.
- 47:17We just got a new comp just appeared.
- 47:22I know I'm talking local comps here,
- 47:23not big stuff,
- 47:24but the bigger comps still seem to be
- 47:28going on.
- 47:29The guys that are putting on those things,
- 47:31the Jason Ansleys and the Micah Shoemakers
- 47:32of the world and whatnot who are good
- 47:35at what they do.
- 47:36I'm talking the CrossFit Games season
- 47:38funded by CrossFit HQ.
- 47:42But what I'm saying is that if it
- 47:44needs to switch and they need to do
- 47:46stuff,
- 47:47there are hands out there that are capable
- 47:49of putting something together.
- 47:50Does that make sense?
- 47:51But you've screwed over those hands for a
- 47:53couple years.
- 47:54Okay.
- 47:57Something's got to give at some point.
- 48:00That's what I'm saying.
- 48:03Something has to give.
- 48:09I feel like it's a lot of questions
- 48:10and not a whole lot of answers.
- 48:12I hope we get some whenever.
- 48:17I told you my answer was radical.
- 48:21Radical.
- 48:23It was way beyond anything else.
- 48:27I just think that if you want this
- 48:29to succeed,
- 48:30and if you go to a small version
- 48:34of it and it starts to gain popularity,
- 48:37it's easier to grow that than have to
- 48:40keep shrinking it over time.
- 48:44How popular was the five-person games?
- 48:48I think it was very popular.
- 48:52but how popular was it actually well we
- 48:55don't know because you couldn't go you
- 48:57couldn't go watch it in person except for
- 48:59people that showed up anyway you just you
- 49:05just couldn't so that and that's the other
- 49:09thing like life has happened over the last
- 49:12six seven years
- 49:14had a person die at the games we
- 49:16had covid we've had things hit that were
- 49:21factors that make any kind of linear
- 49:24analysis impossible i would also argue
- 49:28that just the constant shifting nature of
- 49:32how to get to the games also plays
- 49:35a role in not in making any kind
- 49:36of litter because
- 49:39Do the fittest people get there?
- 49:40Eventually.
- 49:41Sure.
- 49:42Maybe.
- 49:43But when the rules change every single
- 49:45year on how to actually make it,
- 49:48it's hard to make a comparison when you
- 49:49go, well, this year, you know,
- 49:52twenty nineteen is a great example.
- 49:53Whenever Pat Veldo had was kind of sort
- 49:57of knew how he got there,
- 49:59but not really.
- 50:01Maybe sort of I think I think I
- 50:03qualified to the Open.
- 50:05And then that changed the year after that,
- 50:07COVID year.
- 50:08And then that changed the year after that.
- 50:10And then that changed the year after that,
- 50:11all the way to where we are now.
- 50:15it's very difficult to maintain some
- 50:18semblance of, well,
- 50:19this is the way we do it and
- 50:20this is the way we're going to do
- 50:21it.
- 50:22And we're going to make mild tweaks
- 50:24because I will also argue that we've
- 50:26always done it this way is the most
- 50:28dangerous sentence in the English
- 50:30language, right?
- 50:32Because you can always do something that
- 50:34way and just be doing it wrong the
- 50:35entire time.
- 50:36Excuse me.
- 50:41I just, I don't,
- 50:43And it's okay.
- 50:44I don't think you and I are coming
- 50:45to an agreement on this today.
- 50:48I think it needs a major overhaul.
- 50:51The only people watching now are you, me,
- 50:54Meg, and Joseph,
- 50:56and a couple people in the chat, Vicky.
- 51:00And that's not enough to sustain it
- 51:02financially.
- 51:06So I think something has to be done
- 51:11in a more...
- 51:13radical sense complete overhaul to make it
- 51:17work i won't say it won't happen because
- 51:24i'm not that guy especially not with new
- 51:26guy in charge but again historically
- 51:30looking at how they do something expecting
- 51:32them to make a giant major overhaul when
- 51:35it's not
- 51:37necessary for it to continue.
- 51:38Does that make sense?
- 51:39Like we had a five person games that
- 51:42was mostly online and then in person for
- 51:44just five people,
- 51:45no spectators in twenty twenty because
- 51:48they had to.
- 51:50There was no choice.
- 51:54That's the only reason that happened that
- 51:55way, because it had not been that way.
- 51:58We had the games as normal.
- 52:01Ed says,
- 52:02so shift masters to a separate comp,
- 52:03also teams games is just elite.
- 52:06I mean,
- 52:08If we want to face reality,
- 52:12those things don't make money.
- 52:15In Madison,
- 52:16when the games were still going strong,
- 52:20nobody was in the stands for the teams.
- 52:23Nobody.
- 52:25And Masters is already separate by itself,
- 52:27so is the team's.
- 52:32The Super Bowl doesn't bring in the peewee
- 52:35championships.
- 52:37Although it should.
- 52:38No, but literally World Series is a thing.
- 52:44But it's its own thing.
- 52:45That's what I'm getting at.
- 52:47Thousands upon thousands of people go to
- 52:48watch that because it's its own thing.
- 52:58Games Elite only top twenty.
- 52:59I say top ten.
- 53:06Make it top ten, one heat.
- 53:09Each event only takes at a max like
- 53:12half hour, forty-five minutes.
- 53:19It's much more digestible and consumable.
- 53:23Go to a Masters competition where you get
- 53:24to see the same event twenty-seven times.
- 53:30It's funny, dude,
- 53:30because when I'm competing,
- 53:32especially with the people I know that are
- 53:34in the other age groups, they're like,
- 53:35man, did you see?
- 53:36Nope, sure didn't.
- 53:39Sure didn't.
- 53:39That happened throughout.
- 53:41I was still at the Airbnb.
- 53:43I didn't see any of that.
- 53:45I believe you.
- 53:51Daniel says, I agree, top ten,
- 53:53but people seem to be hurt by the
- 53:54idea of ten, so I compromised.
- 54:00My proposal is going to be ten.
- 54:02If I have to meet someone in the
- 54:03middle, I'll give some room then.
- 54:05But right now, the proposal is,
- 54:07if you want this to be televised by
- 54:11anybody, it has to be ten.
- 54:17One heat of each.
- 54:19The best of the best in the world.
- 54:21And every year,
- 54:22it's going to have shake-up.
- 54:23People not qualifying that you think
- 54:25should.
- 54:26And that is going to add drama to
- 54:29the season.
- 54:32But start with the championship and then
- 54:34work the format back.
- 54:37Don't try to make the front of it
- 54:39fit everything and then somehow fit that
- 54:43square peg into the round hole of the
- 54:45championship.
- 54:56I like the chaos of mass starts,
- 54:58Mark Phillips.
- 55:02What was the last beach run,
- 55:04like the run spring run they did on
- 55:05the beach where I forgot who it was,
- 55:09just fell flat on their face like right
- 55:11after they started.
- 55:13I'm sorry.
- 55:13Like, I like watching stuff like that.
- 55:17Mark's my man.
- 55:18Exactly.
- 55:20Exactly.
- 55:22I don't know about the get to know
- 55:23the athletes easier type thing because
- 55:26with the way that the media is right
- 55:27now,
- 55:27like it's really easy to get to know
- 55:29everybody because they're doing.
- 55:30It's not.
- 55:31We talked about this this week.
- 55:33Media is doing the same story six times.
- 55:36And then Dave's interviewing all the
- 55:38athletes.
- 55:38And then not that we've interviewed
- 55:40anybody recently,
- 55:41but we used to invite and interview people
- 55:45with the glintons or the stuff's out
- 55:48there.
- 55:50Here's the way the format is structured
- 55:52right now.
- 55:53I can't do what I used to do.
- 55:55I can't do a hundred semifinalists because
- 55:58I don't know who's there.
- 55:59I don't know who's actually going to
- 56:00compete in an event.
- 56:02I don't know who's going to wimp out
- 56:04and go to another one or who has
- 56:06an arm injury and can't go to this
- 56:07one.
- 56:07You're not wrong on that.
- 56:10So I can't, I,
- 56:12when there was a leaderboard for, Hey,
- 56:14here's the North America East semifinal.
- 56:17Here's a list of people.
- 56:18I could actually go down that list and
- 56:20interview people.
- 56:22I can't now.
- 56:28I swear to God, Wayne, I said this.
- 56:30Yeah, you did.
- 56:31It's way at the beginning of the show.
- 56:36I'm just kidding, man.
- 56:37I'm just kidding.
- 56:43The other thing,
- 56:44and I think Avera is kind of alluding
- 56:46to this, think about how much money Nike,
- 56:48et cetera,
- 56:49have made off of CrossFit and shoes alone.
- 56:51You would think they would sponsor the
- 56:54fact that they do not is very telling
- 56:57because their items don't get highlighted.
- 57:02only have ten athletes you're gonna see
- 57:04them more in their gear and maybe because
- 57:07we don't have a clothing sponsor over all
- 57:11the thing maybe it can go to like
- 57:13an individually sponsored event
- 57:16making the uniforms could you imagine if
- 57:19people had their own uniform with and and
- 57:23it had to be a jersey or something
- 57:25like that that you could understand but
- 57:27did you could actually tell who was who
- 57:30by their uniform on the field instead of
- 57:33just a big blob of black and brown
- 57:36and gray noble
- 57:42go rock go rock go rock was just
- 57:45as bad go rock was just as bad
- 57:47go rock was like we'll add green you
- 57:53got to listen to tessa tessa said the
- 57:54only time to do laundry is in the
- 57:56first heats of any event that's when you
- 57:59go to your laundry the ass heats as
- 58:01people would like to call them
- 58:04No, boy, yours were terrible.
- 58:06No, boy,
- 58:07yours were absolutely terrible as far as
- 58:09color is concerned because they decided
- 58:11that nobody needed any.
- 58:13I would never understand that.
- 58:14It's such a weird choice.
- 58:17Gold Ruck was almost as bad.
- 58:22Last couple of years weren't terrible or
- 58:23last year was a Jim Reapers last year.
- 58:26Velites.
- 58:27I'm sorry, Velites.
- 58:28Velites wasn't horrible, but still not...
- 58:32Nothing's ever going to match up to the
- 58:33Reebok days where it was all the colors
- 58:36all the time.
- 58:38Why is F-One popular?
- 58:40Because when my papaya and black car comes
- 58:42around the corner, I know it's them.
- 58:46When Ferrari red comes around the corner,
- 58:48you know it's them.
- 58:51I like the idea of not...
- 58:55wouldn't say not giving them swag
- 58:57necessarily you know if if there is in
- 59:00fact an apparel sponsor they need to wear
- 59:01that apparel with their names on the floor
- 59:03but i do like the idea of each
- 59:06person having their own color wave yeah
- 59:10because then as when you see them that
- 59:12morning you know that that's what they're
- 59:14wearing the rest of that day like that
- 59:15is that's what they got on i like
- 59:19that
- 59:23Who would wear the all pink outfit?
- 59:25That would be me.
- 59:25I got no problem with pink.
- 59:35Bruce should personally go to Nike and
- 59:37tell them that they have made hundreds of
- 59:38millions off of CrossFit.
- 59:39Let's make a deal that works for everyone.
- 59:43That is a bold stance to take.
- 59:47I don't disagree with the sentiment of it.
- 59:50I understand where you're coming from.
- 59:52I do,
- 59:52but that is a bold stance to take
- 59:54to go kick in the door.
- 59:56I would probably do it in, hey,
- 59:59we benefit from people buying your shoes.
- 1:00:02You benefit from people working out in our
- 1:00:04boxes.
- 1:00:05How can we partner together to make this
- 1:00:08a more cohesive partnership where we both
- 1:00:13benefit even more?
- 1:00:14I think Nike's problem would probably be
- 1:00:16that they make bumper plates now.
- 1:00:20You can buy Nike bumper plates and they're
- 1:00:22gonna be like, well,
- 1:00:23not only do we want our apparel in
- 1:00:26there,
- 1:00:26but we need you to use Nike bumper
- 1:00:28plates.
- 1:00:29And then rogue is gonna be like, uh,
- 1:00:31excuse me, we've been here since day one.
- 1:00:35And like, you're gonna,
- 1:00:35you're gonna run it.
- 1:00:36I think you would run into, uh,
- 1:00:37those sort of problems with Nike
- 1:00:38specifically.
- 1:00:41Because I do feel like they're going to
- 1:00:42be a lot more of the, oh,
- 1:00:44you let us in the door.
- 1:00:45Cool.
- 1:00:46We want this Nike logo on every possible
- 1:00:49thing that we can.
- 1:00:51Okay.
- 1:00:58Well, I stirred the pot today.
- 1:01:01Yeah, you did a good job.
- 1:01:04With that, guys,
- 1:01:06I'm going to leave you with this.

- 1:02:58Look, and she got it ready first.
- 1:02:59Look, she slapped it in.
- 1:03:02She queued up the pool stick, man.
- 1:03:05Bruh.
- 1:03:09She has brothers.

- 1:03:30Yeah, that would be mine.
- 1:03:31That would be mine right there.
- 1:03:34She would do something like that.
- 1:03:35And in this day and age, you know,
- 1:03:36there's like eight parents going, oh,
- 1:03:38my gosh, what did she just do?
- 1:03:39Oh, she just did an atomic elbow.
- 1:03:42And there's eight dads going, yeah,
