- 0:00Speaker 1: And then the other thing what will make you feel
- 0:02Speaker 1: better is an email of interest?
- 0:04Speaker 2: Yes? Is it of interest?
- 0:06Speaker 1: Oh?
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, email interest.
- 0:12Speaker 1: Hello lords, It says, this is Casey Jackson. I'm the
- 0:18Speaker 1: bass player for Faulk Cogan. We're currently on tour in Europe,
- 0:25Speaker 1: and I'm writing this from the balcony of our apartment
- 0:28Speaker 1: in Vienna, Austria. See attached photo. Oh I should have
- 0:31Speaker 1: sent that to Katie. It's probably too late. Wait, she
- 0:37Speaker 1: might have it maybe, So it came to it did
- 0:41Speaker 1: come to Radio from Hell at X ninety six dot com.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Katie, Yeah, she's digging it up. So this morning.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I tuned into Radio from Hell or some familiar, comforting voices,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and I wasn't disappointed. I am so grateful for the
- 0:57Speaker 1: sense of reason and comfort that your show brings, especially
- 1:02Speaker 1: with everything happening back home, you know, stateside. It helps
- 1:08Speaker 1: more than you know to hear your voices. As we travel,
- 1:12Speaker 1: conversations inevitably turned to politics.
- 1:15Speaker 2: Oh there he is.
- 1:17Speaker 1: That's Casey Jackson, and that's a balcony sitting on the
- 1:20Speaker 1: balcony of his hotel in where do you say, Austria, Vienna.
- 1:26Speaker 1: So as we as we travel conversations inevitably turn to politics,
- 1:30Speaker 1: and people ask us about the current situation in the US. Honestly,
- 1:34Speaker 1: it can be difficult and sometimes embarrassing to explain, but
- 1:38Speaker 1: being abroad for the first time has also given me
- 1:41Speaker 1: a new perspective. The most striking thing I've noticed is
- 1:44Speaker 1: how much people here genuinely care for their communities, regardless
- 1:50Speaker 1: of race, creed, or background. There's a collective sense of
- 1:53Speaker 1: responsibility toward one another. Everyone we've met has been warm
- 1:59Speaker 1: and welcoming. No one has treated us like a threat
- 2:02Speaker 1: nor assumed the worst about us because we're American. I
- 2:06Speaker 1: also noticed something profound, the absence of homelessness here. Communities
- 2:12Speaker 1: take care of their own and it's inspiring to witness
- 2:17Speaker 1: because you just don't see signs of people being homeless
- 2:19Speaker 1: too much, at least not where He's been.
- 2:22Speaker 2: Our time in the Netherlands, Germany, and now.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Austria has been incredible, and I'm deeply grateful for the experience.
- 2:29Speaker 1: My hope is when we return home, we don't find
- 2:32Speaker 1: ourselves facing unrest in the streets. Thank you again for
- 2:37Speaker 1: everything you do. You bring comfort and perspective to many
- 2:40Speaker 1: of us. With love and gratitude, Casey Jackson thumping the
- 2:45Speaker 1: base for full Cogan.
- 2:48Speaker 2: I love that Cacy have a sausage while you're there.
- 2:51Speaker 2: Apparently they're known for their.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Sausage and the sausages. Yeah, you can get them here, Carrie,
- 2:55Speaker 1: you can get them here.
- 2:57Speaker 3: So it's nice to see local band out out touring
- 3:00Speaker 3: and doing that.
- 3:01Speaker 2: I wonder who they're on tour with. How does that happen.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Maybe it's just them doing clubs and stuff.
- 3:06Speaker 2: They have a bit of a reputation. I know here.
- 3:09Speaker 2: You know, we talked about them before.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Who knows, they could have possibly have been on our
- 3:14Speaker 1: show and I've forgotten it.
- 3:15Speaker 3: It is possible, have we, Casey let us know. I
- 3:18Speaker 3: kind of feel like, maybe.
- 3:20Speaker 2: Yes, yes they have been on They have been one
- 3:23Speaker 2: I think so. Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 4: It's it's interesting as observations of traveling overseas to Europe,
- 3:33Speaker 4: uh huh, because I think.
- 3:35Speaker 1: More people need to do that. I haven't been to
- 3:38Speaker 1: Europe for a long time. I remember not seeing a
- 3:42Speaker 1: lot of homelessness, but I did see but in like
- 3:45Speaker 1: I remember in Paris there were street urchins.
- 3:49Speaker 3: I mean, you have to remember that when you're traveling,
- 3:52Speaker 3: probably wherever you are is a touristy area where maybe
- 3:58Speaker 3: that's not where where that is more likely to be found.
- 4:07Speaker 2: What did Mark Twain say about how travel.
- 4:12Speaker 3: You want me to find?
- 4:13Speaker 1: The quote would in Innocence Abroad, probably something about you know,
- 4:17Speaker 1: old please, one of the one of the it's one
- 4:20Speaker 1: of the best things that you.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Can travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow minded.
- 4:26Speaker 2: That's the one.
- 4:27Speaker 4: That's the one, which is why I think more people
- 4:31Speaker 4: need to travel.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Well, it's it is true, you see, except in France,
- 4:38Speaker 1: you know.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Broad wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be
- 4:42Speaker 3: acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth
- 4:45Speaker 3: all ones lifetime.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Mm hmmmm hm.
- 4:49Speaker 3: Now it's not it's difficult for for everybody to travel
- 4:53Speaker 3: like that. I get, but travel outside of Utah. How
- 4:57Speaker 3: many people have you met that have never even left
- 4:59Speaker 3: the state A lot.
- 5:01Speaker 1: I've traveled a lot in my life, and now I
- 5:04Speaker 1: feel perfectly justified in going home and letting life pass
- 5:07Speaker 1: me by.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Will you stop say you've been saying that all morning long?
- 5:10Speaker 2: Well, it's the way I feel. It'd be a lot easier.
- 5:14Speaker 3: You've how many people have we heard from today that
- 5:16Speaker 3: say I appreciate your that you're there when.
- 5:19Speaker 2: I'm in Vienna or when I'm going to work.
- 5:23Speaker 3: I listened to your show and I appreciate it. I
- 5:28Speaker 3: have don't be discouraged, Bill Well, it's hard not I know,
- 5:32Speaker 3: it's hard not to, you.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Know, and I I really the thing that, just one
- 5:37Speaker 1: thing that's just made me just so discouraged yesterday was
- 5:40Speaker 1: the people who who are somehow, you know, reveling in
- 5:44Speaker 1: the fact that this guy got shot and making all
- 5:47Speaker 1: yay and.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Discussing and it's just awful. It just it's just awful.
- 5:55Speaker 1: I I didn't agree with a word that guy said, probably,
- 6:02Speaker 1: but it's just awful that they do that.
- 6:05Speaker 2: It's just you don't. You don't celebrate the death of
- 6:08Speaker 2: a guy like that. I mean, it's just.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Uh anyway, email of interesting.
- 6:18Speaker 3: If you want to send us an email, you can
