- 0:00Aloha. Tuesday morning in Hawaiʻi. Sunny and breezy today—I'm Mele with what's happening across the islands.
- 1:44Today and tomorrow are classic Hawaiian summer. Leeward shores will be sunny and warm, mid-80s in the sun. Windward slopes get clouds and passing showers, mostly on high terrain—not much rain accumulation except up in the mountains. Winds stay breezy but manageable. The water's rough through Wednesday with a Small Craft Advisory in place, so if you're planning ocean time, this is a watch-from-shore situation for most people.
- 2:05Oʻahu's north and south shores are running 4.5 to 4.7 feet of moderate surf—good for experienced swimmers but watch the shore break and rip currents. Maui is smaller at 3.3 feet, comfortable for most swimmers and snorkelers. The Big Island is glass-calm at 1.4 feet. Kauaʻi's north shore is 6.2 feet of large, powerful waves—experienced surfers and swimmers only.
- 2:23Hawaiʻi Volcanoes National Park has a couple of closures right now. Kīpukapuaulu Trail is down due to hazardous trees, and the Lava Tube Bridge is under replacement. The volcano is under advisory status. If you're heading to the Big Island, the volcanic ash can affect air quality, so take that seriously if you're sensitive to it.
- 2:40Our guide to dolphin watching tours walks you through where to see wild spinner dolphins by boat across Oʻahu, the Big Island, Maui, and Kauaʻi, plus the no-swim rule that protects them. Today and tomorrow are ideal for leeward snorkeling—calm, sunny, warm. If you're here through the weekend, morning swims are your best bet before conditions shift.

- 3:03If you're heading out today, hit the leeward shore while it's calm. Talk to you tomorrow.
